Attack of the Martin Vegetables by FrederickK 2014-05-05T23:33:00
I liked the fact my job was to kill vegetables with legs. I didn't understand the sound mechanic though

I liked the fact my job was to kill vegetables with legs. I didn't understand the sound mechanic though
Wow, what a strange game, yet endearing.
Dark and scary, like being deep under the earth in minecraft. I won!
controls need work but the novelty of destroying million dollar aircraft with fish totally compensates
it's tricky!
I got to the bad guys and killed two of them, the third one killed me and i couldn't continue...
I like the grappling hook mechanic!
i liked the art
i didn't understand how to play, but i did somehow manage to get past the first level. i liked it
tight! i liked the rolling ocean. even though it was in hell the motion was nonetheless soothing
Challenging! I kept falling through the level on the part where the spike shoot upwards from the ground... I would fall into a lower part of the level and then get stuck behind a wall or fall off the level and fall forever
i liked it though
I love being a shark!
hehehe i couldn't beat it but it did make me chuckle. good stuff
I enjoyed it!
Thanks for playing you guys, I'll take that all into account. I wanna juice it up and release a polished version on mobile so I appreciate the feedback.
I love digging!
I liked it, made me think for a couple of them. The guy seems a little "slippery" but it added to the challenge in a fun way.
I was unable to compile your game despite installing SFML.
But if it's any consolation, I took your advice and made windows and linux binaries of my game as you suggested.
@pvwradtke Yes, I think so. I tried the dev package from my distro (mint) and that didn't work (it's probably old). i tried dumping the contents of the 2.x download from the SFML site into the game's source folder in a couple different locations and that didn't work either. I'm not inclined to install the lib without a package manager since removing stuff like that after I'm done with it has always been an inconvenient (if not painful) process.
I'll probably end up playing the binary in windows tomorrow as a matter of convenience - there are SO MANY GAMES TO RATE and it's just easier to play the binaries on win.
what a peculiar concept... hug combat
I couldn't figure out how to run it.
adorable bots
I got all 10 coins on tutorial island, and made it back to the boat, found the map, but the map would only let me go back to the tutorial island. How do I get to the other islands from the boat? The only green option on the map was tutorial island.
Still, a very polished entry.
@aurel I moused over all the islands in the map after I got the 10 coins on tutorial island. Some lit up red (like the ending ship and a few of the islands on the right side of the map) but the only one that would light up green was tutorial island, which I could visit as much as I wanted, but no new coins appeared (and if there was a chest on tutorial island I never found it).
I think the UI is fine, it's that either I'm very dense or I found a bug. I'm not ruling out the former though!!
Great compo entry. I beat it! My strategy was "run away from anythign that I can't loot"
Well done, wish it had any kind of sounds at all.
This kinda reminds me FTL but without the space combat, like you know when you visit a space station or a derelict vessel and have the option to board or fight the spiders infesting it? I love these kinds of games, this one kept me busy for a little while. good job
Cool sfx and quite a bit of depth for a compo game nice
I didn't realize until watching the YT video that the little pellets were health, but I'm just dense. Cool game
Hard is really hard! Well executed
How to play without making an account?
Cool jam game! It has an excessive amount of exposition for a bejeweled clone but it definitely creates a mood
neat-o, very polished entry
Couldn't play: Annotation 2019-04-29 195053.jpg
You mashed up two things I wouldn't normally mash up (like nuts and gum) but the experience was good actually? I hope game boy is proud of you. I thought the styling of the itch page was the icing on the cake.
Goofy plot with solid gameplay. I liked it
5 stars for mood
Tricky... cool entry, neat new mechanics
Well, you tried. I loved watching my (all volunteer lol!) army grow by the thousands yearly for hundreds of years
edit: not sarcasm, it made me grin
hehehe i enjoyed it
I appreciated the tiny badguy squares' "dash" attacks when they got close
Excellent entry. I almost flipped the table trying for the no deaths run, but I eventually got it. What'd you make this with?
@msiddeek Not the whole game, just that level, using the 'R' shortcut.
Well done, I enjoyed it quite a bit. A couple head-scratchers there, too.
very cool, professional work
that's tough! great entry
You're makin' compo look easy. Great mood. Innovative mechanics
I'll call this a game but just one time. Making JUST a song in 48 hr is p cool I sure as heck couldn't do as well as that on sound if I had a year to do it. Given my experience with unity's particles getting ANY thing cool to come out of it is an accomplishment.
haha reminds me of Sim Tower from 100 years ago
OH my gosh that ending! I can't believe I helped those jerks ____ __ ____ _____ ____ _______ __!!!
Great art. The characters "idle" conversation repeated too frequently, so frequently that it felt like they NEVER stopped talking.
But that is just a small complaint. I enjoyed playing it.
5 stars for humor but by the time I found penelope she wouldn't give me the next macguffin because I didn't have enough oxygen... guess I'll die?
I felt like I was in heck, 5 stars for mood
RIP Filimonchik, you handsome devil!
This is excellent game for compo. It's hard to make anything really great in that time limit, but this is great.
Bill is so dapper I am so jealous I will never look that good in a bow tie. Great entry, loved it. Thanks for making a web build.
Any chance of a web build?
More than what it appears on the surface. Cool take on the theme for sure. Nice job
5/5 mood!
I wonder if FTL was some inspiration for this. I'm a sucker for space games so I loved this. If I had to critique I'd prefer no sounds instead of the recurring static rumble noises but I can totally empathize with the reluctance to opting out of a rating category!
I wasn't expecting it to hold my interest to the end but it did, so well done. Very cool story!
Movement felt really neat, I liked being able to fly.
**Don't forget to play and rate other games - you'll get your 20 ratings a lot faster that way**
wow that's tough! great entry. I couldn't get past the second level because jumps don't work sometimes
some really great pico8 entries this jam, including this one
Sure it could benefit from more levels but it **is** a complete game, which is a huge accomplishment on its own. The dialogue very much gave life and personality to Kenny's generic sprites, which I appreciated a lot.
Gorgeous game. Adorable.
Very challenging! Polished entry, catchy tunes
lol i had the same problem, eventually i figured it out but was all like... fight?
Cool mechanics. Takes some care and skill to parry and stab at the right times and manage stamina.
I thought the animations were pretty well done. Decent depth in the fighting mechanics for a jam game, too
Big fan of the art style. And the 3/4 isometric play field feels good too
I thought the life sucking spell was rather well done.
In the web version, when I push `alt` the window focuses to Chrome's menus and i have to click in the game scene again to get control back.
Cute sprites!
Cool! Does it have a win condition? I beat level 4 but could continue playing
Cool, haven't seen anything else like this in the event so far
Fun, but hit detection on the edges of the single-block platforms is flakey... sometimes I land right on top but slide off the side!
Big fan of procedurally generated content. Aside from lack of sound, this is a near perfect compo entry. Tight game loop, passable controls, enough complexity to impress but not so much the game is incomplete. I'm probably the minority but I also adore time-scoped game play, especially in bite-sized experiences like jam games. Everyone who plays this is a speedrunner lolololol :runner:
My high score was 6 without exploiting the grey powerup.
brutal, but pretty well executed
Every time I tried to fix something I'd only net a +5% efficiency because I'd lose 5% while the animation was finishing! Really tough but haven't seen anything else like it in the compo so far so kudos
Haha that last level is a little tricky...
I liked the variety of bad guys
Those little people keep getting too close when I'm skidding past them... great entry
Neat-o! After a couple rounds I never got any more money, even when I had it all the way "D"
Love these kinds of entries
Totally adorable
Cool concept and neat art!
**Don't forget to play other peoples games!!!**
Not my favorite genre but this was definitely amusing. Cute sprites lol
very cute lol
This is a neat prototype for what could be a really cool game with more depth and polish. I mean, it's already pretty cool (I love space games) don't get me wrong!
Bought my soul back in 37 days!
I got my brains eaten in the first wave but i liked it
Oooh, that twist! I found it quite peaceful despite it being a war! I enjoyed this entry.
5/5 mood that was horrifying. The tunes genuinely made me uneasy. Well done
lol goofy premise held together with great execution
Neat concept
Like a magic eye poster, some people can see it and some people can't... I can see magic eye posters but haven't been able to figure this game out. Very cool ocean effect tho!
I hope people realize what an achievement this is without third party libraries...
My only complaint is that the mouselook is extremely sensitive. On more than one occasion a skull came out of a wall or a corner and gave me a jump, which of course wiggled my mousing hand and caused the camera to spin around a couple thousand degrees, completely disorienting me. I still managed to beat it in one try, but the jump scare + the complete discombobulation nearly made me pee my pants.
If it were me I'd have set the mouse sensitivity to 50% or 25% of its current value. I guess I could have done that with the windows mouse settings so I'm just rambling.
FYI these are my Windows mouse settings and I'm using a crappy $5 wireless optical mouse for laptops (I guess) Annotation 2019-05-02 190255.png
That's not to take away from how cool this is, it's really, really cool.
Ooo, it's really tough! I couldn't beat it but I thought it was fun
How do I make a new fleet? I had three at the beginning but by the time I had one fleet left I was "getting it" and making some progress. Cool game!
web version 404's: Annotation 2019-05-10 230643.jpg
I tried a couple times but as far as I can tell I was never able to successfully block. By the time I saw my opponent telegraph his attack by the time the parry animation started he had already swung and hit me.
I liked the graphics.
lol ridiculous i love it
Neat-o!
My only complaint is that door takes forever to open even though the level is complete and there's no reason to keep standing around...
Wooo that's tough. Nice entry, nightmare fuel for the spiderphobic!
My square is made out of greased ice! I couldn't get very far, but I sorta got the hang of it. The inertia was just too frustrating... My favorite part was the exposition! I love square drama.
lol i died
Sr. Sausage is my favorite sprite in the compo so far
Great entry, good work!
Brilliant entry. Cool *coincept* nyuck nyuck. Would have loved an escape hatch out of the coin collecting phase, I think I had to just sit on my thumbs for a few minutes because I already found all the hints and coins!
what a riot. well done
Great entry. Very polished for 48 hours well done
I wonder if I was having the same problem as @liauj , I could beat the levels, but with just barely one heart left. By the time I got to the fourth level (with no upgrades!) it was impossible to get the final acorn and get to the exit before running out of hearts. Cute grafx tho!
Like DANG if this squirrel is so hungry he'll die in 15 sec you'd think he'd move a little faster for those nuts lol
I liked the colorful - and weird - heroes
very moody, I like that there's so much depth for a jam game.
Keen! I like the dragon design.
that was fun!
I won! Yay! I will admit I said something I could not say in front of my mother when I ran over those tiny, nearly invisible spikes halfway to the end.
This game is adorable and very polished for a jam game. I don't think it would take much to make it a commercial product. Did you add the web build recently or was it always there and I just overlooked it?
This has promise for a more long-form experience I hope you're not done with it after the jam. Great entry
5 stars 4 audio
Haha great premise
well executed. fun and funny
@webox I got 0.50 too lol!
Cool use of the library! I take it scratch was your first language? Keep learning, you're definitely on the right track! I enjoyed the dialogue.
Also - I strongly recommend you play more LD games if you want enough reviews to get a score. It looks like you've only rated around two games so far. If you rate 10 - 20 games you'll get a lot more people finding your game from the LD front page.
Very cute. I got 31 letters! I didn't really understand the difference in the shopkeepers items so i bought one of each every time I ran past.
Loved the character animations!
I put a gold bar on the button but the door didn't stay open... and by then I had run out of coins so I couldn't poop any more bricks!
Fun twist on the theme tho
Ha! Great entry, wish it had more levels but I totally appreciate that's how it is with a 48 hour time limit
Hey, another phaser 3 game! That's so cool!
I played for longer than I thought I would. It really, really could have used numpad support, but that's my only complaint.
love the couplets
Very cute! Big points for mood I think
best original concept i've seen so far
Impressive
@highlandbert You beat the odds, lol! I read somewhere LD reviewers play a game for an average of two minutes so that's what I set the timer for
@tater-hater thanks tater u da man
@rustycrow lol sorry about that, the library i used has a shortcut to assign keyboard input defaults (arrow keys + space + shift) and I wanted to program the game and not the controls! thanks for playing!
@orangejuicepanda thank you for playing! The lack of air control was intentional - I didn't want it to be TOO easy... Hopefully it was challenging enough to bamboozle you on the first try but not so annoying you gave up before you beat it!
@ransom I had planned for a whole procedurally generated trailer park full of unique baddies... On Sunday afternoon it really hit home I could only implement a tiny fraction of my grand vision  thank you for playing
@vectrex28 Thank you so much for the feedback! lol you'll be the first to know if I ever work on it again
@lmb Opting out of a ratings category is not an option!!!
@furtive-pygmy I'm gonna knock it outta the park in October, you'll see
@shaolin-dave *always* setup arrows because every keyboard has arrow keys but not everyone has a QWERTY layout. I won't force international users to change their system keyboard mappings to accommodate WASD. That way everybody is inconvenienced equally! I would have mirrored directional controls to WASD as a courtesy to QWERTY keyboard users, but, you know... 48 hours...
I'll write some boilerplate before LD45 for remapping input/pausing/sound options so those quality of life features don't eat into my compo time.
Regarding the glitch: if you quickly, repeatedly alternate hurling a cat and jumping you basically have semi controllable flight... Will leave the antigravity cat hurling bug unpatched as reward to folks like you who go the extra mile. Consider it an unintentional easter egg! Thanks for playing!
@duke I'm sorry you ran into bugs... I knew they were there, somewhere, hiding, biding their time... and I regret they chose to expose themselves you! If you have a moment and don't mind sharing, can you tell me which operating system, browser (and browser version, if possible), and what kind of computer you used to play it? Had you already played a round and won/lost before the counter broke or did it start broken? Did you play in full screen or in the itch.io frame?
Also I realize you have thousands of games to play yet so I completely understand if y'ain't got time to respond.
**also thank you for playing!!!**
@xeke-death Haha I didn't have time to optimize the little-kid-old-lady-smacking physics, ideally the cat would be flung the opposite direction of trailer regardless of the direction you were facing... I am glad you had stupid fun! Thank you for playing!
@luckyfeathers **Thanks for playing!** There's a metric butt-ton of quality of life stuff like that I just didn't have time to get cleaned up. At the end of sunday I had just barely got cat-hurling functionality working consistently and as you might guess I had to half-butt everything else in the last hours before compo deadline.
This was written with TypeScript, BTW
@snowschu **Thank you for playing!!!** You are the second streamer to run into this bug! I wish I knew how to resolve it but I'm totally baffled. Hopefully it didn't detract too much from the experience.
@raymoclaus thanks buddy I'll check it out on my lunch break!
@t-bo Kids these days are so violent because of the vidya!!
@euler-moises done! Rated yours (did you recently add a web build?)
Sadly CRNC will not receive updates or fixes or new levels... But I'll definitely jam again with hopefully a more robust entry
@very-dark-lord thank you for taking the time to write an analysis with more depth than the game itself
All your points are valid. I had to make some things a little unfair (like not being able to avoid the child when he randomly jumps, like disabling air control on Gertrude's jumps, like the not so obvious west side of the trailer) to get difficulty in that sweet spot where a casual-to-experienced player would almost definitely fail their first attempt but almost definitely succeed in the second or third.
I really wish I had time for music and background art, but that 48 hour time limit is brutal! As you might imagine sounds and UI were done in the last hour before the compo deadline...
Thank you for playing and for the kind words
@kuro I hope you come back and give it a try when you're on a device with a physical keyboard!
@syrapt0r Thanks for playing my game on stream! Looks like I had already played and rated Gerydas Tower, and now that I think about it, I believe it was one of the first games I played on the first day that ratings opened!
solid entry! I got to wave 4, those pitchfork guys are brutal
sound seemed super quiet, great entry tho
well done, good entry
felt like i was in school again except for the pokemon part which didn't exist yet lol
Haha way to tie it to the theme
a delightful and terrifying commentary on the world we live in. so poignant and timely. love it
I love being a carrot
very cute. i felt something
deceptively simple, there's more than meets the eye
well executed
Is there a win condition? I liked the graphics and I thought the sacrifice mechanic was great.
Very zen, I liked it. Maybe gradually adjust the lighting to better indicate the day/night progression!
Compo entries are solo - did you mean to publish to the jam?
otimo, gostei muito!
adoravel. very cute, solid gameplay. I didn't do very well, but I'm bad at runner games. I liked your game
great art
This is high on my list of favorite compo games in LD46. Gamepad works most excellently. My first playthrough I didn't read the instructions correctly and forgot I could throw wine.
But my second playthrough I got it. Great job!
Pretty good for compo, this is the first bullet hell I've played in LD46 so far so congrats on that! Web build is a bit janky, it took a long time to load and firefox thought it crashed but I told it to wait and it eventually loaded. Each time I cleared a stage the game would freeze for 10+ seconds until the new bad guys appeared.
The stages are challenging, the ship looks really good, and it's compo after all. Good job.
I couldn't figure out how to get through the passages with multiple "rest" sections without losing all my birds... when I made it to the other side, it was just the velocity bird again, and then when I tried to leave the section with all the "rest" sections then the velocity bird died too.
Otherwise it was nice to look at and listen to!
Lovely narrative and clever time travel gimmick, I'm glad there was a tutorial and an option to change mouse sensitivity. The visuals were simple but just right for the purpose. I wish I was as cool as coolio!
I love a game that perfectly simulates how I feel about camping and hiking. Stay inside, kids, there are no trolls inside.
I don't have much to criticize, this is probably a perfectly scoped project for compo, where there are a few ideas that would have been really nice to have if only you had a couple extra hours, but all the important stuff made it in so that ppl can have a quality experience and you don't have to opt out of any scoring categories.
Everything comes together in a nice little package. Charming entry, well done. Little to complain about for a game made in 48 hours.
I had more trouble getting past the title screen than the first few actual levels of the game lol
I love the premise and the execution too. There are a few UI quirks (resetting the moon doesn't always work, sometimes I could not restart after a game over unless I reloaded the tab) but overall it's very cool. I loved the character art and the mechanics worked will for me, I was able to beat it in a few attempts.
I did just fine by drawing the tattoo on the sheet of paper with the tattoo design... over the design lol.
It worked! Made it to $1000 before the end of day 2!
Cool concept I thought it was fun <3
RIP Conway you left a mark on the gaming world forever. What a fine tribute.
I liked the humor and the dialogue
I've seen it streamed so many times I thought I would do better than I did lol but it's a very solid jam game. Lots of polish, great mood, and no obvious bugs during my playthrough. I'm sure you already know but this could be a fun VR experience, too!
I'm sure there's already enough feedback regarding the inverted controls, but jams are all about experimentation and I don't really fault you for it. There's no ratings category for "controls" anyway so it doesn't factor in to the rating (from me, anyway).
Visual style is good. Gameplay is solid. Theme on point. I can tell you gave it your best effort, so good job. GG!
The gun firing sfx is really meaty and fulfilling.
Difficulty aside, it's a fun little game. The art was cute (even the devastating lose screen) and the sound is fine for compo. What algo did you use for maze generation, and how did you modify it? I just made a maze game this weekend so I still have mazes on my mind.
Good job. I liked the game.
@bentglasstube Thanks I'll take a closer look later
Love me some space games. You managed to get it all done in compo timeline! Graphics, sound, music, and a stable, fun game loop. It's hard to do, good job!
I didn't understand the instructions so I didn't get very far, but I found the art haunting (in a good way) and it looks like the premise and concept has potential. Some gooey sfx would really make the mood but I understand it's compo and compo is really, really hard.
Quite spooky, great mood. Stirring story and visuals.
lol @ accusatory nature of anonymous comment
Works well, character art is good. I didn't get too far but I didn't run into any obvious bugs either, so kudos
The tutorial doesn't really tutor the user on how to play but I can see that a lot of effort was put into the game, so good job for making something playable in 48 hours. It's definitely not easy to do, but you did it so kudos!
Well done, I have nothing to complain about. Very impressive for 72 hours! Highly rated for the Parappa the Rappa mood, nailed it.
Scratch FTW. Good compo entry! I didn't do very well, but I'm generally not very good at avoiding things.
It's compo, you need to share your source!
It ended abruptly at wave 15, does that mean I won? I liked it, I like space stuff a lot. I'm playing on a 4K display and the `repair` and `buy` buttons are soooooo far away from my spaceship and tiny lol
Did you use wolfram to generate the song or did you compose it yourself? I, too, had a kinda short song that I forgot to repeat in my game lol just wondering. GG you put quite a bit of effort into the UI for a compo game, few people have that dedication and here you are. Well played.
Good job keeping the pixel ration consistent, the visuals are nice to look at and colorful. Your interpretation of the theme is great, too.
You got me with the jump scare lol. I beat it the second time by climbing over the walls, seems like most of the canyons can be scaled just by walking into them at an angle, or walking up the corners. I enjoyed it. Good job.
No joke, gave me goosebumps. I played web version so running didn't work very well (input too sensitive to run without bumping into walls) and unlucky me the monster happened to be in the kitchen the same time I went to turn on the lights in the kitchen.
Scary as heck. Also I envy your accordion skills, I can barely play spoons so extra points for that.
I love the concept and the character art is awesome! I found it challenging and adorable
There's just never enough time in the compo! Valiant effort. No doubt the procedural island implementation could be useful in a future project. The birb was very cute.
I thought it was funny! I got in so many fights and ended up killing everyone and my plant did not grow lol
Pretty cool, it's so hard to make a solid entry in compo that also tells a story. I've yet to pull it off in a jam or compo so entries like yours give me hope.
Cool isometric graphics! It seemed to work pretty well.
How do you get past the first level? Ducky falls in a pit, then I put a frog in the pit to get him out, then the eagle slaps him through the spiders but the last spider ALWAYS kills him.
@kosmo I have a really powerful PC with a 4k display, maybe it was a combination of very high fps + resolution? I was also playing the `original submission` and not the `QoL Updates` package.
@kosmo I tried Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on Windows 10 so it must be my PC. Can you lock the physics frame rate with Godot?
@kosmos I definitely don't understand how, but on my PC (where ducky dies to the spider) your game's console output outputs 30 fps pretty solidly. On my crappy work laptop, the game works properly, and the console output is in the range of 40-60fps. Despite running at 30fps it did not seem choppy or slow at all on the desktop.
I had to modify the Firefox advanced preferences for `layout.frame_rate` and set it to `60` manually from `about:config`, then the game would run properly. Maybe Firefox thought my native screen refresh was 30hz (even though it's definitely a 60hz display). How strange!
Endearing visuals and sound design (including music). I had no idea what I was doing but the whole thing was packaged well. Great jam game!
I love that it randomizes the environment every time you play!
I am proud to say I preserved the roses until I beat the game. That dastardly with really made the last round difficult! I thought this was a great compo entry. If it weren't for the narrative between scenes I would have stopped playing after the first or second level but because of the cut scenes I had to see how it ended.
Did you perform as all the voices? That's impressive!
Yes, a video game can be a work of art.
This is a neat puzzler that could benefit a lot from just a little juice, but I totally understand that compo is hard and there's just not enough time! I played it last night and thought it was impossible to get past level 4 but this afternoon I tried again and realized that the health persists between levels, and did eventually manage to beat it with 100 points.
The dogs were adorable and even though the sheep AI was definitely trolling me I found it fun and entertaining. Why is it so difficult to keep my fences repaired on my floating pasture lol?
Great job, compo is so tough!
Frantic! Took me a few tries to really figure out the controls but once I did on my best run I was able to save 20, so I'm proud of that.
I gave you feedback in the stream already but the character art is adorable, the concept and mechanics are solid, and the abuse of physics is really comical. I found it a very charming package. Just missing some BGM as frantic as the gameplay!
Why didn't you play, rate, and leave feedback for other games?
I loved it, personally. Fantastic compo entry. Getting a tutorial like that into a compo game is also a great accomplishment. GG!
Fox is adorable too
Why didn't you play and rate other peoples' games?
It's got everything, action, suspense, and loot collection. I thought the sprites were cute and effective even if the game was too difficult for me. I played with a gamepad and the gamepad worked perfectly!
Simple but engaging. There's not much up to chance, it's all about skill... and I am not that skilled at climbing a mountain while bouncing a hot potato lol
Great job.
That little squirrel's scream will haunt my dreams (I dropped him a lot sometimes by accident). GG
I played on web, it was really, really hard! Just barely got over 60 on my best attempt.
Very cute and colorful, consistent design and visuals give life to an uncomplicated game. Good entry, thanks for sharing!
Love the visual designs and humor - I couldn't keep lemmy alive, but I did my best lol
I found myself enjoying the zen mood, especially as I played your game after the 1000th top down twin stick shooter escort quest. The ending made me go 'aww'.
Good job.
Great tunes, great visuals, engaging narrative!
I played the streamer version so I didn't get shut down, thankfully. I like the novelty of messing with the fourth wall, but there must be a less intrusive way. Ten years ago I'd say you should eject their cd rom tray or something but nobody has cd drives anymore. Maybe flip their display output to upside-down? Change their screen resolution?
Other than weirdness at the edges of the screen, which is a known issue, I had some trouble with gamepad input. 90% of the time the bullets would shoot in the direction I was pointing, except after I had been holding down fire for a while (> 20 sec) it would get stuck firing in a set direction and would not change direction until I released the trigger and started firing again.
That minor annoyance aside it's a great game and a really solid jam entry. GG!
edit: Playing with an official microsoft xbox controller
Cute graphics, and well done for 12 hours. I thought 48 was too little time to make a real game, and here you are knocking this out in half a day. Well done, GG.
I had a very difficult time controlling my player, he would jet off the side of the map and I basically had to stay near the middle of the play field and not move in order to actually pick off the bad guys. Maybe the movement is not using `delta time`?
Otherwise, the shooting was very fulfilling and whatever shader you're using helps spice up the geometric shapes a good bit. Good compo entry.
Super cute! I didn't keep many puggos happy but I did my best. Gamepad controls worked well.
I found it super difficult, but judging from the winners in the comments above I just didn't have enough patience to make progress in the early part of the game. I liked the art and the interface was clean and clear.
This is one of my favorites in the jam category. Y'all did pretty much everything right, I don't have much to criticize. Well done.
That was cute!
I noticed that on rainy days the rain only appeared on the left side of the screen, I'm playing on a 4K display.
It was not clear which shrubs I could add or remove, but I was happy to see that my maze dwellers were unhappy!
**Don't forget to play and rate other games!**
Neat concept and inspired. Good effort! Thank you for making it for web.
I like compo games with extravagant backstories and this had one! Also space games are my jam. I made it to wave 5, which I think is pretty good and the gamepad controls worked very well. The BGM was also nice and I thought fit the overall mood of the game well. I didn't sit still very long but when I did the zoom effect was neat.
Nice! Ninja games are great. I struggled with the fifth level but the graphics were cute and the controls were tight.
I thought the exaggerated explosions were great and totally in keeping with the overall aesthetic of the game. I lost my battle welder halfway through and still made it to the end, so maybe it's too easy? A little BGM would have gone a long way, too but I get it, it's compo, compo is really hard and this is really good so kudos!
Big fan of space games and the GB style, so I liked this one quite a bit.
Very difficult, but cute and humorous. The lo-fi graphics are great and it fits the theme. I regret that I was unable to keep it alive. It could definitely benefit from some sound effects, even simple beeps and boops!
Great entry for compo, tho!
Just barely but VICTORY! I thought it was a hoot, I liked it a lot. Some sound would help a lot, but I absolutely understand - compo is REALLY HARD.
I thought it was cute and fun! Of course I wanted more but I totally understand it's hard to make a lot of content in a short amount of time! I liked the colorful sprites.
Descent meets Body Wars, cool! Great job for compo! I wish I had more indication that my shots were actually hitting the virii but that's a small complaint on an otherwise great compo game. good job
I remember your awesome shark game from LD44. This one is also awesome, well done. Lots of polish for 48 hours. I wish the BGM loop were a little longer but I get it, it's compo. Great job.
Great mood. Nice BGM, too. The anims are slick, too. I had to give up after a few levels because the constant clicking was making my wrist act up, I wish I could just hold the button down! Solid compo game!
Self defense with gardening shears, I love it. Adorable character art, even the gore is kinda cute with the little skulls and all. Good game!
I like games that use the entire play area at once, and keep the screen busy. This is one of them. I neglected to watch my stamina though, and i thought I was doing pretty well lol
Great product for a couple hours work.
Epic. I love the ending. It has a BOSS!!!
That background track is a banger! Also compelling mood
I dig it! Very swell package, has challenge, tunes, and good art. I love simple controls, and two buttons is as good as it gets.
Adorable visuals! I love all the colors and the characters expressions.
(You should probably disable ratings for Audio since the music isn't yours)
I found it confusing and difficult, but I liked the visual style and the game ran smoothly.
I hope you learned a lot! It's so challenging to get off the ground sometimes and it looks like you're on the right track.
Was there anything I can do that I didn't do while I tried it out?
* i can click on the stick to zoom in on the stick * i can click on the ball to zoom in on the ball * i can click on the cat to zoom in on the cat
The tunes were awesome, and I liked the visual assets a lot. Kill that pig monster!
I did my best but it was a little confusing - a couple sample rounds or simplified walkthrough would have helped a lot. If I get a chance I will try it with another human!
Pressing 'Q' on the title screen crashes the game (web build)
I thought the demon sprites were really cute and I felt bad for killing them. Needs more diplomacy. Otherwise I loved it.
Good effort for 48 hours, compo is really tough. I liked the simple art! If I had to pic something to criticize it is that it's really hard to see the mouse cursor on the click-the-meat sections on the blue background.
@dan-thompson I played on a 4k television so my mouse cursor is really tiny compared to the rest of the visuals, which might explain it if you're not using a 4k display
Procedurally generated world? That's pretty cool!
Even with customizing controls to use gamepad (awesome for a compo game btw) I couldn't get past neo-Helsinki, but it was a very neat game. Super cool for a compo entry.
Proud to say I was there when @arthurds "Porno The Dog" typed random words for a full half hour. Also this game is pretty cool.
I was in the top 1000! That's my dream in Ludum Dare lol
gg wp
I tried last night and this afternoon in case anybody else was online (to try the multiplayer) but there weren't, but it seemed otherwise solid. Good job regardless, multiplayer in compo ain't easy.
Quite moody, I'm not sure I ever really "figured it out": it seems like once you "miss" you can never "hit" it again afterwards. I liked the music and the look of the game a lot!
Haven't seen one quite like this, I was expecting something akin to arkanoid from the screenshots but I got something completely different, thumbs up for subverting my expectations there! I didn't run into any bugs (that I recognized as bugs anyway) and I found it a little difficult but I also didn't put too much effort into understanding the concepts either. A couple sound effects would have spiced things up a little bit but I get it, compo is hard, I know well.
Great job for compo!
Jeffers is adorable and I wish I could keep him alive longer! I pushed my health all the way up to 150 but the dragon still killed me at the end lol. Is there a way to replenish Jeffer's health? The third or fourth baddie always kills me if I start with 10 health.
I couldn't get past the "test your platforming" skills because my platforming skills aren't that hot! I got far enough to see the igloo but couldn't make that last jump or two because I suck. Great concept and great execution, especially so for compo. Gamepad worked great.
I didn't win when I played but I liked the mechanics and thought this was a good showing for a second jam ever. GG
Good looking and moody, I liked it. The first time I tried to use the crafting table to make a pickaxe, it said I didn't have enough resources even though I had 8 wood and 9 rock, the axe costs 5 wood and 5 rock
Music and visuals created a compelling mood. There is a surprising amount of depth.
Definitely one of my favorites. I beat it on the first try. The dialogue is fantastic and the art is great too.
I guess my keyboard isn't good enough, it would only recognize three keys pressed at the same time, I wonder if any of the activity keys were hyper keys (like shift, control, or alt) that I would have had an easier time. In the end, I was able to complete two whole orders! I thought it was fun and loved the mood.
PHASER BROS
Great game. So much character. Simple, but brought to life with a ton of little touches of personality.
The models and effects were very cool!
Pretty cool!
Cute! Loved the dialogue and character art.
I never figured out how to last longer than a minute or two, but the theme and mood were on point. Good entry
The 'lose' animation is really well done, epic planetary zoom-out. Moving. I liked the sailboat's flowing flags that was a nice touch.
It wasn't really clear that pressing space bar was doing anything at all, pollution would disappear whether or not i press space bar. Am I supposed to hold it down all the time? Mash it repeatedly when I'm over pollution?
I use a 4K display and the health meter was partially off the screen, and sometimes pollution would spawn offscreen.
Also the tunes were nice!
Good job! Gross as heck but still fun, and the silliness was charming, despite the blemishes
@forevertrash You might need to disable adblock, or run in an incognito/private browser window. Which link did you try, the github or the itch one? Thanks!
Thanks, @nocity , I will play and rate your game as soon as I get off work!
@dragonayzer My goal is to get an audible chuckle from every player and maybe a 'WTF', I hope you got yours. Thank you for playing!
@purpledartfrog Thank you for your kind emoji! I will play and rate your game when I get off work today!
@barwani Thank you for your kind words. I will play and rate your game when I get off work today!
@baylej I hope you enjoyed it! I will play and rate your game when I get off work today!
@adam-clayden Good points! I desperately wanted a score system (to make the meat actually relevant to the gameplay) but in the last hours of the compo I had to decide between music/sound effects or a score system. I think, in the end, I made the right decision but I really, really wish I had time to get them both done.
@adam-clayden (con't) There were no bump maps or rendering tricks of any kind - all the assets were drawn with the paint tools in GIMP, nothing rendered. Just awkward brush strokes, tons of filters with exaggerated settings, and some gradients. I agree the art is objectively bad but it does make me happy to hear that it's "remarkable" in some way lol
Thank you for playing, rating, and commenting!
Thank you all for playing! I will play and rate all your games in return <3
@shawn-moore @stefanie-leitch Full disclosure I barely did any play testing until the compo ended, it was only with minutes to spare I got sounds and music working. The game is winnable though, I promise! Also I **love** the idea of restarting at the same wave, but 48 hours just wasn't enough to implement all the quality of life features I wanted. Thank you for playing and leaving feedback!
@thedestoryer Preventing players from holding the charge was on my wish list, but 48 hours just isn't enough time. To compensate, I tried to make the final wave so frantic nobody would have time to charge fully anyway! Thank you for playing and leaving feedback!
@quinn-patrick I wish I had thought of bump mapping at the time, but all the visual assets are made with brushes, filters on top of filters, and gradients in GIMP. No lighting or rendering technology at all lol. Thank you for playing and leaving feedback!
@pips Thank you for playing and your kind words!
@wassim Thank you for the kind words, I am so glad you enjoyed it! I will be playing your game tonight!
@legavroche You can move the dragon head up and down with `W` and `S` so the neck doesn't obstruct the top row's baby.
@abdurrahman-khallouf Yes! All great ideas, 48 hours is just not enough for all the stuff I wanted `3`
@spawnie I'm so sorry I forgot cursor keys!!! That's totally my fault, and I'm ashamed because I absolutely remember to do it for LD44 but forgot this time. I have update the game to amend this glaring omission, and even if you don't have time to give it another shot, at least nobody with a non-QWERTY layout will suffer the way you suffered.
My sincerest apologies, and thank you for playing, rating, and leaving such helpful feedback.
@mulberg I *think* I gave the fireballs a 1 second cooldown, but it's also buggy AF so maybe it doesn't do it all the time lol! Thank you for playing, rating, and leaving feedback
Thanks @vollfeiw for playing, rating, and leaving helpful feedback! Later on I'll write up a post-mortem and share my very long, hopelessly over-scoped wish list of features - which includes a larger variety of baddies as you suggested!
@koemeterion What's an example of a really annoying holding-button mechanic? I'm glad I did it right but I'm curious about what a worse case scenario looks like lol
@zondarg Y'all got lucky with the controls, my original idea was QWOP but with dragons. Thanks for playing!
@joe40001 Level 3 is impossible if you don't move the dragon's head up and down with `W` and `S` (I've noticed a lot of players ignore this mechanic), but yes, I've beat it and a couple streamers have as well... I promise it's beatable!
Thank you for playing and your thoughtful feedback!
I thought the animation of the cat walking was really smooth. It took a while before I "got" it, but I was able to do ok on easy, and hard was, well, hard. So, good job! I wish there was sound but compo is hard, I totally understand. GG!
Pretty sure you're getting high scores for "mood" category with this one. Pretty stirring for a five minute experience. Good job.
Sound and art design is awesome, love the aesthetic!
Great sprites, run well. I found it very challenging and I think I made it almost to the end of stage 3 (or stage 4 I lost count because the gameplay was so frantic). A crosshair for my mouse would have helped a little, but all in all it's a good entry. Well done.
I'm going to try the downloadable but you should know that the web build hangs in Firefox and shows this error in Edge (Chromium) on Windows 10: nullref.png
I absolutely adore deoderant-guy's naruto run! The map is big and if you mash spacebar you can fly above it and see it all, which is neat. There is a lot to explore. Also I like the mood.
I'm really bad at this! I feel so sorry for the pink ball, that I couldn't do more to protect it...
Nice variety of spells.
Cool BGM, I'm sure people have given you plenty of feedback about the camera and physics already so I'll just say that I like the character art.
Early on I was thinking to myself, "this egg is way too fragile," especially because I've seen eggs survive crazy things in other egg related games this LD, but when I played through it a second time I realized the physics and the difficulty are perfectly balanced. I can make a couple mistakes (or be a little reckless) to get the egg to the other side, but not too many mistakes, and not too reckless.
Well done.
Compo is so tough, there is just never enough time for everything you want, and often not enough time for just the things you need. This entry is endearing with its visual style and I am a sucker for compo games with a bigger story to tell. This game had it. I liked it a lot, even if it is short and sweet. I hope you do more Ludum Dares because I'd like to see more of your work.
Stirring. Glad you made it. I liked the colorful art. Regrettably I did a terrible job keeping the relationships alive but talking to grampa was nice. Good entry.
As far as I can tell, there was no audio.
Sprites were cute (and evil), I found it very difficult but I put a bunch of blobs into the blob receptacle on that tree! I liked the large play area and general visual design.
This is one of my favorites.
It took me a couple tries before I realized that there isn't an action button to use the water pumps and that I needed to stand exactly in the right place next to the water pump. Figured it out tho!
Unfortunately my gamepad didn't works so, I suspect there's no dead zone for stick input in your engine so if my gamepad was plugged in my man walks down and to the left. I had to unplug it and use keyboard and mouse because I couldn't get the dude to stand still under the water pump.
But otherwise it's a great entry! Daring move to write your own engine but it worked fine, I played a few levels and beat my own high score once or twice. Regrettably I'm in isolation and don't have another player, but I can see how that would be fun, too. GG!
It's an effective prototype. With a little more time in the oven it could be a fun game!
I never got the hang of it, but I can see the promise. The pixel art was cute!
Big fan of the art style and BGM. Very cute!
I thought it was pretty well executed, I liked that the "things happened" based on steps taken instead of based on absolute passage of time. In that way, it was kind of like a board game, where I would have a moment to calculate my next steps. Can I help Annette with her broken calculator before my kidneys fail from dehydration? Or can her problems pile up while I drink and take a fresh air break.
The RNG is interesting too, on my second playthrough, I went directly to the water tank and drank 50 times before someone ran into a problem!
Very challenging! I loved the visuals, I was able to collect two animals for a couple seconds on my best run! I did not run into any bugs, and I gave it several attempts. I like the space theme.
I enjoyed it a lot, got stuck on level 13 but proud to have made it that far. Despite the lack of BGM it's still charming and fun. Compo is hard! Good job.
Cute and chill. I'm not a very good golem but I did my best. Well done, GG!
Lots of polish, cute game. I planted lots of cacti but some of them never grew into big cacti, maybe I just didn't know what I was doing. Gamepad controls worked very well.
I thought the dialogue was great. I killed a deer, a bear, and god. <3
Gamepad support helped a lot, I liked the subtle particle effects in the background (made it look kinda dusty in a cool way), which gave it some more character. Seen lots of games about eggs and plants so a hungry sword is a refreshing change of pace.
I enjoyed it, it looked nice. Pity there is no sounds or music, it's otherwise a complete experience. I did my best but in the end an asteroid knocked me all the way back down to the lava, and I died. Good job!
Great couch compo game. I could *almost* play it by myself using both hands but got my fingers tangled up.
Great first try! I liked the lighting effects and the character art.
Lots of depth in the "magic" system for a compo game, well done. The pet made me realize I don't eat enough fruit, then I ate some, so indirectly you game made me healthier.
I loved the character art!
Great compo entry, loved the mood and all the nice little touches that gave it life.
Love space games, and this is a good one. I found it pretty difficult. If you keep working on it, add game pad support - can control green guy with left stick, blue guy with right stick, red guy with bumpers, etc... make people tangle their fingers all up on a gamepad lol
Good job, cool effects, I liked the sfx too! Cute sprites and neat ending (well, when you lose. Is it possible to win?). You had a high score feature, so I'm jealous, because I didn't that far lol.
I made soup! I thought it was fun. The voice acting was cute but the guy in the hole had so much echo effect I couldn't really understand him.
RIP Conway, this is a fine tribute. GG
The novel escort mechanic and the medieval(?) concept is pretty cool!
I clicked on the first flower on my first turn, then the screen went red. The game was very tiny and I could not resize it, and there was no full screen option, so I couldn't really read the text.
I like the art though, and the concept has promise. Good job making a complete game in 48 hours, it's not easy!
These dadgum starfish keep zapping my orbs! I hope I get to say that in a real conversation one day. It was difficult, but I liked the mood and music. Swirling orbs count as innovation in my book!
It's challenging! I love the little quips and humor sprinkled about. And online leaderboards are always a nice touch.
You should rate and leave feedback for other games! Because then more people would see and play this game, which is rather charming.
I'm in the QWOP in space boat, I couldn't get past the first level in single player but there are a lot of good ideas here with great execution despite the impossible difficulty of single player. I'm a sucker for space games so I knew I was going to like it before I played, and you bonus points for trying something new and making it work.
I like this visual style very much, the bird hero's sprites in particular were charming. It's solid all over, but difficult, though that's understandable given the time crunch, not everything can be perfectly balanced. There's nothing I don't like about it!
What a hoot. Loved it.
This is good for a compo entry and I liked the character art a lot. I appreciate the variety of bad guys.
The `bzzt` sound effect is my favorite in all of ludum dare 46 so far!
Why does the coal look exactly like the rest of the walls? My first couple attempts I died really quick because I though the coal block around that corner was part of the corner.
The character art is good and the game looks good too for compo. We both know 48 hours just isn't enough time! This game could be a lot of fun with a little more polish.
I love how much there is to explore! I'm a potato in real life so being a potato in a video game wasn't that novel, but regardless the game is very charming. A few beeps and boops could go a long way to giving it some more life!
Obviously made with love. Very polished, packaged well, and adorable on top of everything. The pasta dish is a wonderful touch and so were the seamless restarts.
I don't understand why this doesn't have a web build!
The atmospheric effects were a nice touch.
Nobody was online when I played, but I can see how cool it would be if someone were. I can also totally understand spending most of the time getting multiplayer working and running out of time for sound!
I'll try again later and see if anyone else is playing. Pretty cool!
I never found the panic button, but I did make it into the basement without spoilers. This is a great jam game and exactly the right amounts of frustration, hackiness, and joy one might expect from a game made in 72 hours.
Judging from the comments, the stuff I would complain about has already been complained about, so I have nothing to say except nice things! Poor gramma, RIP!
Loved the dialogue. I did not play any other game like this during LD46 which means yours stands out in a sea of half-baked top down shooters and plant-based tomagatchis.
Space games are my jam, this is a great entry. The gamepad support is excellent. Looks great, solid game loop, perfectly scoped for a jam. The BGM is a banger, too.
Some neat elements here. I could not get past the 8th stage, I died the first try, and when I hit spacebar to restart the level the bullets were already right next to VIP and killed him. Then I hit space again and he immediately died, then after that it got stuck on the level 8 title.
I was a terrible bodyguard lol but good job, compo is hard!
Compo is really, really hard! You got a working game out of it, with sound and graphics so you didn't have to opt out of any rating categories. That's alone is an achievement so good job!
We both know with more time in the oven it could be cooler but I enjoyed the two minutes I spent with it.
Great all around. I knew Brian was done for when I had to navigate a weird maze at the same time. Love the tunes, how do I get the OST lol
Tricky, tricky! Simple mechanics but difficult to master, and that's how it should be. I liked the raytracing(?) effect that hid areas of play that weren't visible to the possessed dot. Effects were sufficiently gross. There's a lot you can do with this. Good job!
I enjoyed it and had fun. The character art is cute and the enemies have lots of variation!
Gostei! I like what you did, the art is colorful and expressive and the game is complete!
It gets a little frantic but I don't think I started to lose until I got a little lazy. Great job for compo, 48 hours is so little time but this has a good gameplay loop.
I guess there wasn't enough space to implement a win condition? I got the tree to the top of the screen but by then Pico was having a hard time rendering I think, and it started eating my inputs (I would hit z but the cloud wouldn't restart).
Submitting a tweetcart is daring move for compo, where I suspect most folks will just not understand the limitations and judge harshly. For 279 characters I thought it was darn good.
It's really hard! I thought the visuals were very cute and the mood was perfect. Nice BGM also
@almighty-games Did you play the original Number Munchers? We were actually forced to play this in grade school lol, and this version looks and plays just like the original. Hilariously the colors were just as ridiculous in the original, and even *worse* for your eyes back then because it was displayed on a cheap CRT monitor! Like staring into a blue light bulb!
@logan-perkins Good job!
Cool concept! I was unable to keep it alive though lol, replaced a looooot of body parts but not enough i guess
I was able to play offline, so I can still rate the game!
The lobby was empty so I opened a few new tabs to fill up the lobby with myself, but couldn't figure out how to actually start the game from the lobby.
The belch was a nice touch and for 24 hours the compo product is a great proof of concept. I caught you on twitch post-jam working on it and had to check it out. Even in 24 hours you ticked pretty much all the boxes: a lose condition, music, sounds, and graphics. It's endless I assume so there's no expectation of a win condition. On top of all that you built it with a library you weren't familiar with IIRC?
I dig it, GG
Be advised: windows 7 is no longer receiving security updates and you're setting yourself up to get viruses and malware!
There isn't much I can say that hasn't been said but if this isn't a top 3 entry in 1 or more categories I'll be surprised. Great job, team!
Cute visuals! I don't love the grindy nature of the gameplay loop but the packaging, juice, and details were fantastic for a jam game.
Well packaged and adorable
omg those poor fish, what happens to them when I bump into them??? Great job btw
Adorable. Great job.
games like these give me the heebie-jeebies, good job
It crashed my browser after a couple screens in, but I got the idea. Great job for a compo entry!
@vilcans Latest Firefox on Windows 10. It was just the tab that crashed, not the entire browser.
I was not able to reproduce it just now, however. I may fuss with it some more later in case there's any debug output.
Don't forget to rate other peoples games! This was a good solo effort, good job
I wish i had a gun taht killed slimes! Great to see procedurally generated game content i love that
I'm so glad I went back to play this some more after I ate, this was a great adventure! I did get the treasure <3
much love to jam games that accommodate mobile users. Very polished and playable
Freaking adorable. I almost rage quit but I'm glad I didn't the ending is <3
Make a web build so I can play your game!
Thanks for the web build! What a cool game! Neat tunes, creepy enemies, great ambiance.
I'm terrible at these kinds of games but this one is really polished for a jam. well done
Wow what a mood!
Upload a web build so I can play your game!
I suspect you're going to sweep the innovation category with this one. Fantastic compo entry.
It was pretty dark but I could mostly see what I was doing. Great proof of concept! A little more time (48 hours is never enough) to polish it off with some sounds would have made it great. Good job <3
Publish a web build so I can play your game!
Epic compo entry! Well done.
delightfully morbid, and kinda gross. loved it. it's better than mortal kombat
keen premise! haven't seen many entries like this
Wow, what a mood, so scary! I couldn't beat it, but it was definitely an experience!
Whoah I think this is the first legit vnovel i've seen in a LD ever. Good job
Four hour bros!!! Way to knock out a whole game in not nearly enough time.
lighting effect pretty neat, solid gameplay loop, no bugs. Nice!
I'm a total sucker for space games so this one bit me. The probe-to-probe dialogue was adorable! Good job and thanks for suggesting it <3
Please make a web build so I can play your game! *pfv faca versao q posso jogar no browser*
If you ever get it playable, please ping me. Even after LD48 ends I'll still try it out.
Nightmare fuel!! But really, delightful. Good tunes, too
good job, this was all above average compo categories loved it
Challenging and adorable. I did not expect to play it for 30 minutes but apparently I did...
Very difficult! But immersive and fun to look at. A full experience. It was chilling. Would be a fun nightmare in VR... Great jam game
Looked good, nice and moody. I'd love to see this with more polish and juice. Compo is just never enough time!!
48 hours is never enough time! Glad you got something working, and it's a cool concept. I got 9 vines!
Neat! I also didn't read the controls before I played and didn't realize I could space + shift for extra stuff...
Cute and lots of polish. Compo is so hard, there's just never enough time!
Some original concepts and a neat visual style, good job!
I won, but at what cost?
I liked the mood
cool concept! looks nice too, got that OG playstation feel
lots of polish and juice in a compo game, great job
click-and-hold to mine would have been wonderful, but it's pretty cool the way it is, also
@kitty-mama I need to make it clear that I do not endorse inserting cotton swabs into the ears in spite of it being the premise of my game. Thanks for playing!
lots of polish for a compo game, good job!
Moe Fall was great <3
Will you make a web build please?
Fantastic execution. I'm not usually a fan of card-game-as-a-video-game (especially in a jam) but this one worked really well. Sure, it could use a little visual and auditory juice but we all know that 48 hours is never enough time. Once I got the hang of the rules everything made sense. Also programming an AI opponent is a big deal too.
Loved it. A great zen puzzle game with great look and feel. Wonderful!
this is the first and only boss rush i've played in LD48, great execution
cute visual and audio design <3
Is there a way to mark a tile that is known hostile? There were times I knew that a tile had a bad guy but I couldn't mark it.
I thought it was an interesting new take on an old classic.
while it would have been helpful to have a visual indicator how close i was to the wall, this is a solid compo entry!
One button games are perfect for LD and I liked this one. It's good to be an ant
Very polished pico game!
Lots of polish for 72 hours, GG!
Cool concept and the visuals were neat too. Some audio would have helped set the mood and help immersion, but we all know 48 hours is just never enough time... good job
I definitely didn't understand what I was doing, but it's a very cool concept! Stay dry lol
the randomizer is brutal, it's really tricky to get the boogers. perfect execution of a simple idea. nice little package
haha what a trip. never looking at ice cubes the same way again
great compo entry, it's a decent pixel puzzler made in two days, well done
Impressive attempt at a narrative game in the very tight time constraints of the compo. GG well done
bem feito! i played this on my stream. didn't win, but it was a cool experience. thank you
Congrats on your first jam! It works
I only have nice things to say about it! Great jam game
good job on the compo!
I think I was your 20th rating! You're in the running, now! This was a tricky game (I'm terrible at top down shooters) but there's a lot of polish and little things in the game that add a lot of flavor (including the dialogue). Good job <3
I beat the boss!! SPOILERS: it was the brother the whole time AAARRRRGG
This was delightful! Very cute. Some music would have helped with the mood but I adore this game.
Add a web build so I can play it, please!
Tricky! Kept me up way too late on a work night. Well done
Neat effects! With some more time this could be really neat, but for what it is it's a good compo entry
ADORABLE
I liked this one a lot and tried a few more times after the stream. It's very difficult, but that also makes the good runs more rewarding. Great job! Lots of little things add up to a lot, and it's a compo entry, too!
that's tricky! I couldn't get that far but it was easy to play
Keen, amazing what ppl can do in 48 hours!
Pretty tricky! I'm rather dense so I didn't solve more than one or two puzzles, but the mood is great
awesome compo entry, it's very difficult but I did make it to the intermediate tunnel after some fussing around. Good score for innovation lol
Cool visual direction! I didn't read carefully and died when i collected every powerup, but a second play through I got the hang of it. good job <3
any kind of networking in a compo game is a huge achievement. Also Phaser is awesome. What a cool experience
Add "press space to swim" to the list of controls lol I spent too long thrashing about wondering why I wasn't moving!
I love the aesthetic.
THE DOGS ARE SO CUTE
adorable and innovative <3
5 stars mood, the fear and dread of being hopelessly in debt - chefs kiss now i want pizza. this game was fun and frantic
Great entry for a compo game, I can tell you wanted to do more but there just wasn't enough time! Cool visuals and an original concept. I hope you get high scores for innovation!
this is way more fun than fishing in real life! impressive javascript-fu
lol seriously who designs a submarine that isn't fish proof!! great compo entry, there's just never enough time!
Fabulous! Adorable theme. Great effort, it's totally playable but the controls are not ideal. Well done, the compo is just never enough time!!
48 hours is just never enough time. Compo is tough! I like what you have, I can see it being a full game with just a little more time.
Is it just me or is it unplayable on PC? Interesting concept! Good effort for compo
Link goes to a blank page, this is in the browser console:
Uncaught ReferenceError: cache_info is not defined
Can't play it :-(
Too difficult for me! But the animations and humor are great
I don't agree that the music fit the atmosphere lol I was stressed out the whole time trying not to get zapped!! Challenging and more fun that I expected to have tho, good job!
Haha I don't know what I'd do without wolfram tunes, they saved my bacon last few jams.
I love the art in this one. That wolf is terrifying. Great jam, I hope you guys had as much fun making it as I did playing it.
Neat proof of concept! The compo is so hard, there's just never enough time!! Good job with what you got <3
epic and nice to look at <3
Absolutely adorable! Loved everything about it. Please add some netcode so we can play with our friends without sharing a keyboard during the pandemic lol
A lot of depth for a compo game!! You already know about the issues with Firefox. Good job, I hope you get high marks in humor and mood lol
Good job, we all know 48 hours just isn't enough time for everything you want! Controls were pretty good, enemies were cool looking too
Please publish a web build so I can play your game!
Delightful! and gross but good job lol
you're a pico-8 master, this cart is perfect in every way
the art and mood are on point i love it
what an 5/5 INNOVATIVE pico puzzler! super cute game, i too made a pico-8 cart this time and i too didn't have time to make music for it.
great job awesome compo entry
lol I love my little donut hands twirling the wheel around like a silly person. I hit the walls a lot but the matrix/faceoff/johnwoo slowdown was very clever and cool
I played with a couple AI players but couldn't figure out how to end my turn ("evoke darkness" did nothing), this game seems well over my head. I liked the isometric viewport a lot and it was neat that I could download the game state as JSON, that's a first in my experience with LD!
tight game loop and cool look!!
this is a great one, i didn't get it at first but then i got to planet hopping pretty good!
proceduraly generated content in the compo is one of my favorite things, this is good!
i loved the art style
on a 4k display the mouse's dialogue is offscreen: Screenshot 2023-05-08 235911.png
I figured it out anyway, super cute! Great concept too
i love how hopelessly ridiculous it is and how deliberately it's being silly. that's my jam <3 GG
Please upload a web build!
It was frustrating but hilarious picking up the macguffin and then immediately running into a wall and getting eaten by the baddie XD
love the aesthetic and lab theme!!
lol it wasn't until the end I realized that I was *delivering* mail and not just running down the street robbing people's mailboxes!! i thoguth it was delightful
my pigeons are famous because they never once failed a contract <3 gg good game definitely 5/5 mood
it's pretty, and definitely moody!
5/5 humor because i wrote a dirty joke on my letter
was really neat to fold it up, hurl it, then unfold it again at the end (spoiler alert)
i loved the jokes XD
Maybe I'm not doing it right but I don't see a moving image to click on :-(
FireFox + Windows 11
i love the colors and particle effects! i thought i had a winning strategy ignoring shield upgrades for specimen slots but i was wrong
The difficulty was mostly due to the poor performance, but the colorful art and cute style was neato. I drove around for a while and managed to pick up a passenger, but I never did discover where to drop them off.
Please publish a web build!
i love this boat game its so peaceful
Please publish a web build!
adorable! cabbage sub forever
it was really difficult, but this is an exciting product for compo! GG
I especially loved the dangerous drone-eating hawk <3 <3 <3
great compo entry, it was too hard for me and I didn't get far but there's quite a bit of depth and complex movement mechanics, which i love
i love the water effects that's so neat
Please publish a web build!
Heck yes!! Please tag me when you do!
great mood and tight gameplay loop it was fun <3
Please publish a web build!
ADORABLE i loved it
Since there's no audio, you should opt out of the audio judging! I think you get a better overall score that way.
I loved the simple art, and it make me chuckle sometimes when my truck would immediately flip over just from the respawn bounce alone XD
great job! drinking the beer was my favorite part <3
RAIL GRIND MECHANICS??? instant 5 stars
looked and played great, good vibe
i figured out how to rapid-fire by hitting both RMB and space a bunch, which was cool
i adore the fruity little sprites
instant classic
looks great, feels great, love everything about it
i like the minimalism, i wasn't confused by anything and if i were a better driver i'd have done great XD
I did NOT see the mood shift coming at nightfall!! That is an awesome strategy for capturing humor *and* mood lol 5 star game
instant classic it should come with new operating systems like pinball used to come with windows
ok this is pretty innovative and very ridiculous love it
Please publish a web build!
I tried both firefox and edge, compo and post-jam versions, and it would crash immediately after the unity splash.

I'm on a modern gaming PC with 16 GB RAM, Windows 11, for what its worth
don't forget to play and rate other peoples' games!!!
it's like animal crossing but you get to kidnap the villagers! great compo entry
I get this when I follow your link: Screenshot 2023-05-01 111138.png
haha i love it yours is the first game so far i played that you have to beat other people to death with clubs
Don't forget to play and rate other folks' games!!
i love these sprites <3
Maybe I failed to notice something in the UI (game is pretty frantic) but sometimes it felt like i could do two deliveries before returning to the store and sometimes I could only deliver one, and I couldn't really predict if I could deliver twice in one go or not.
that said i liked it, it was fun, and the colors and sprites are great
this was so comfy and fun to play just a cozy little delivery truck delivering around this cozy little town <3
On the web build on a 4k display while fullscreened the transitions between levels (the zig zag black bars) stay at the bottom of the screen during play and converge in the center of the screen during level transitions
i liked this little platformer though the character art is whimsical and great <3
I love this for a lot of reasons but the biggest reason is i can't think of any game like it
haha my man in the back throws the packages out wayyy too hard i have to drive past the goals a van length or so otherwise the package gets launched into one end of the goal and out the other
mouse movement is a cool mechanic
Please publish a web build!
LOL my keyboard apparently doesn't support pressing four simultaneous apha keys so I struggled (more than what I suspect is usual) with the controls but this is hilarious, kudos well done
lol this was hilarious but take audio ranking off your entry because I have high confidence you did not record those clips yourself XD
5 star mood game right here!!!
I couldn't figure out the controls but the character art was cute and the concept was pretty neat
frustrating that every mission equips my butter knife regardless of what weapons I have in my inventory but the concept is rad and the execution is good!
Incredible. I found "easy" pretty challenging and I bet there's a crowd that loves nightmare mode. The "delivery" gave me a chuckle!!
also mad props to competing in humor and mood categories and standing out in both
@polinachrr why can't you start the game?
@ausstein WHOAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
@ausstein I didn't even think that was possible, GG bro!!!
@ausstein incredible! i didn't think play could be optimized to that degree.
If I make a game like this next LD I will make sure the enemy cycles are powered by time-since-last-respawn instead of time-since-game-launch so the runs are deterministic entirely according to player input, which should largely remove the element of luck and make demonstrations of skill like yours even cooler
I'm very happy that you're having so much fun with it. That means a lot to me. Thank you <3
@payaosito it's pretty tricky, thanks for giving it a try!
@baknik thanks! you do too!
@glove there's a common turn of phrase "sink or swim" but in florida it's "swim or get eaten by alligators". thanks for playing!
@calcopod thank you for the kind words! I shouldn't have waited until the end of sunday to think about sound design and music but 48 hours is just never enough...
@pianoman373 happy you think it's humorous, it's deliberately ridiculous (trying to crack top 3 in humor (again)) thanks for playing!
@cinterre i saw a gator in florida last summer! that's exactly what they're like!! thanks for playing <3
@nhcarter123 i wanted the game to make you feel like you were hitting yourself in the face, but also wanting to keep doing it. very happy to hear i tuned the difficulty just right. thanks for playing!
@josh-bothun if i had more time i would have gladly made more obstacles in the scene to better tune the difficulty, in the end i had to make the controls something of an obstacle to give the game the most depth I could in the 48 hours. thank you so, so much for the kind words and giving it your best shot
@zahkros I went in with low expectations from PICO-8 and ended the weekend in love with it. It will be my first choice for jamming in the future, for sure. I always debate composing long writeups for LD (knowing that most people don't read them, and the ones that do may easily spend more time reading about the game than playing it) but I'm glad I did and someone read it. thanks for playing!
@bartalomew i got way more out of pico than i thought i would, i'm happy with the result and it means a lot to me that you enjoyed it, too. thanks for playing!
@boboch-d-brew you're the best! thanks so much!
@the3rdhunter I'm so pleased you felt that every death was your fault, that's how I felt about Spelunky and the feeling I was trying to replicate for this jam. I am certain some of my janky hit detection killed you at least once and it wasn't your fault - but I'll get it right next LD! Thanks for playing
@janures Did you know that SPF 100 is the best selling grade of sunscreen in Florida? (You don't, because I just made it up). I'm glad the game gave you a rise, and thank you for playing!
@jcmonkey thanks for giving it a shot!! I learned a lot this LD and will definitely make good controls a high priority next time
@gary-the-enchanter I was afraid it might be a little over-the-top but sometimes you gotta break a few eggs to place in the humor category haha. thanks for playing!
@riley9 Last weekend I learned that PICO-8 is the bomb! I have mucho respect for the folks (like you) that can squeeze a lot of depth out of a tiny little cart, and I'm glad you had fun with mine <3
@augmotic What a trip! Thanks for taking the time to play my game
@borderdestroyer i had as much fun watching you play it lol thank you for the kind words!
@spacespytv MISSION ACCOMPLISHED thanks so much for playing
@protowlf it was awesome watching you gradually improve until you rocked it, thanks for playing!
@rookrules you let me know when you upload that YT short with that clutch baby drop. it was a blast watching you play
@lone-wolf thank you for the kind words and thank you for playing <3
@potkirland PICO-8 is very limited and online leaderboards just aren't possible in 48 hours without a lot of hacks - oh how i wish i could, though! thank you so much for playing
@krassenstein oh man it was a hoot. the pleasure was mine!
@furtive-pygmy it makes me really happy to hear you say the difficulty ramps well. thank you for the kind words and thank you for playing <3
@jimbly half of the streamers I've seen play it are getting 10-20 minute times, you're ahead of the curve!! I'm very happy to hear those "clutch" moments are frequent enough that a lot of folks get to experience them. thank you for playing!!
@ausstein the run timer starts when you press circle on the title screen and *only* stops when you see the "you win" screen or return to the title screen mid-run.
You can't respawn until all of *the stork's* gore particles despawn (baby gore doesn't matter).
Drone movement is based on the time since the cart loaded, the effect being the cycles - for all drones, on all levels - begin on cart boot and don't end until cart reboot.
@sidlovatt did you know you can turn left and right with the arrow keys? Most people who get stuck just aren't pushing all the buttons....
Regardless, thanks for playing!!
@ausstein I'm sure you've moved on by now but if you were interested in a more speedrun friendly post-jam version, it's here: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=52584
* drone cycles start when the level starts and restart when you "retry" a level after all storks are exhausted * elapsed time on winner screen includes fractional seconds * the first formation of drones on level 2 moved 8 pixels upwards * corrected stork and drone hitboxes
other than some effects, ui, and minor sprite enhancements there are no other changes
@rincs it was a blast watching you play on stream!! gg!!
@olddog i'm glad you had fun thank you for playing!
@kot9 thank you for the kind words <3
@gamedocs thank you for playing! would you believe it works great on mobile as is? Screenshot_20230507-011439.png
@0x-void-x0 watching the streamers almost everybody "gave up" by accident the first time, I should have made the text read "flap to retry"... thank you so much for playing!!!
@gn-fur competition in the humor category is cutthroat, gotta stand out somehow XD thank you so much for playing
@bodhiagora lots of fun watching you play on stream!
@conduit I'm so glad you had fun thanks for playing!
@jitspoe it was a real hoot to watch you play on stream, thanks so much for the kind words (and great time btw)
@dgo i didn't know i was going love pico-8 before the jam, but i love it now. thanks for playing!
@bytomancer i'm so glad you got a chuckle from it! and great time! thanks for playing <3
@nardandas thank you so much for the kind words. you're absolutely right the lives/retry mechanism is a little tacked on. I knew no one would finish the game if I didn't include a feature to retry from the same level. I wanted something to prevent players from kamikazi'ing on the longer levels and having the retry reset the deliveries seemed less cruel than forcing everyone back to the title screen
@leo-barber-dev I'm overjoyed that you persisted and succeeded! thank you for playing!
@tricky-fat-cat it makes me happy you got a chuckle from it, thanks so much for playing <3
@wetburritosupreme thanks for playing!
@gmaker Florida is a major exporter of tomatoes!!! thanks for playing!
@chris1919 you did great!! altering time with a PICO-8 cart is beyond my skills now but maybe next LD... thanks for playing!
@langotriel i'm so happy you had fun i hope it wasn't too traumatizing!! thanks for playing <3
@matt-green PICO-8 uses 8x8 sprites for nearly everything and only has a 128x128 screen space... every pixel counts! thank you for playing!!
@bongard22 it was so much fun to watch you play on stream. see you next LD!!
@badcop i had a ton of fun watching you play!! gg!
@niz thanks for playing!!
@smdg I'm glad you were satisfied with the controls, thanks for playing!!
@harmadillo it brings me great joy to hear folks say "just one more try..." so much. thank you for playing!!
@jdemattos thank you thank you thank you and thank you for playing <3
@ausstein done https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=52584
250ms cooldown on flap input when stork spawns
@brandon-campbell Did you use the left and right directional controls? many folks who got stuck early didn't realize they could change direction any time
@vidarn I'm so glad so many folks felt compelled to try "just one more time"... Thank you for playing!
@poshdan you gave it your best shot! Thank you for playing!
@francis you're right. it seemed like a good idea at the time, because I wanted it to be difficult enough that it couldn't be beaten on the first try. if i had more time I would have added more hazards and enemies instead and tightened up the controls and bird mechanics. Thank you for playing!
@meta-link thank you so much for the kind words and thank you for playing!
@veralos the gators are my favorite part too and i'm glad folks like them, I spent nearly half the jam trying to get them right!! Thank you for playing!
@lcstark There are dozens of us! lol Thanks for giving it your best shot and I'm glad you stuck wihth it long enough to effectively see all of the game content <3
@caeonosphere you're right the lives system is a little unsatisfying. I wanted to punish speedrunners for abusing the revive mechanic but still allow them calculated strategic deaths (the only alternative I could think of would be to reset completed deliveries every death, which i think would unfairly punish *everybody*). Thank you for playing!
@valentinwb So glad you stuck with it! Thank you for playing!
@remco You're totally right about the respawn delay. I wanted to delay for maybe a second but time constraints forced me to keep my original implementation that doesn't allow for bird respawn until all bird gore derenders. Thank you for playing!
@paulhocker Glad you had fun! Thank you for playing!
@bloodbane 10 minutes is a great time! Most streamers took around 15 minutes. One even took nearly 26 minutes. You're practically a baby delivering expert... Thank you for playing!
@0mbre You did great! Thank you for playing!
@itsboats that is an EXCELLENT time for playing it blind. The alligators are my favorite part too, I'm very pleased to hear they're a hit <3 Thank you for playing!
@zefphyer That's an average time so you did great!! There are lots of great reasons not to live in Florida - glad you stuck with it and Thank you for playing!
@zundou it warms my heart when you say something i made makes you want to play it again. Thank you so much for playing <3
@f1krazy you got really far! and basically far enough to see practically all of the content, and I'm happy for that. Thank you for playing!
@psv-games-studio That's an excellent time!! I can't believe you spent an hour on it, that's really nice to hear, I'm glad it could provide some amusement in these trying times <3 Thank you for playing!
@acearcher I'm sure you did great and I'm glad you got a chuckle, Thank you for playing!
Please publish a web build!
Cool concept! I liked the modern take on a text adventure, and seeing the fog of war dissipate as I explored was rewarding
rockin soundtrack, i struggled with the level that followed the tutorial but its a cool jam game <3
EXCELLENT compo entry that's a lot of depth and charm in not a lot of time
banger tune and awesome vfx
i enjoyed it quite a bit, and it was nice not to have to worry about altitude
very challenging but it looks great and the concept is tight
You're asking way too much from players to require them to review a powerpoint presentation or watch a youtube video to learn how to play a game they won't play for more than a handful of minutes!! I jumped straight into the action and didn't know what I was doing. I figured out the general controls quickly, but the objectives were inscrutable so I just gave up after flying around for a bit (visited the hens, cow, and apple trees)
The scene is pretty and the controls are solid though, and the colorful graphics and cute assets were very pleasant!
this brings back memories!!
Please publish a web build!
cool stuff as always pomo!
that was SILLY and i loved it
-75 and I enjoyed every minute of it
Solid! My party froze about 10 hours from the village but we did our best
yeah but why is the popcorn hot
great entry! lots of polish!
I thought it was adorable but I got speared by spikes frequently because they are pretty much indistinguishable from the harmless background foliage.
It reminded me of Papers Please but without the atmosphere of dread, so I liked it quite a lot
5/5 humor a chicken threw a hammer into my basket, smashing an egg, and then it pooped an egg into the basket to replace it
hahah it's hard! gg lots of fun
the polish on this one is wonderful. a delightful chill adventure in kawaiispace <3 loved teh character design and art
i thgouth the sprites were really cool and the premise was original and cute
adorable sprites! tricky puzzles!
I must have failed to understand the win condition, because it didn't seem like any arrangement of the body parts on level two qualified as a success, so I could not continue. That said the visuals are cool and the mood and music are good.
excellent excellent
Please upload a web build!
i love the style, i was too scared to get every ending but wow what a mood!
I *think* I got pretty far but there was a room I knew I couldn't get through without a gamepad and a lot more free time. (the vertical room with the floor of spikes and the series of 1x1 blocks that you had to jump-dash to climb)
Platforming seemed really solid though the inertia(?) of the player character was frustrating (like everything was slightly icy/slippery) and I'd stick to walls even if I didn't jump against them first.
Someone probably already said it but this is 5/5 audio for the bangin' tunes
goodness I love the colors and particle effects a lot, I got pretty far but still have no idea how to optimize the routes. great compo entry
tooooo funny lol ggwp
I could only play the web version, it's weird but the camera keeps spinning around the car making it impossible to see where I'm going - I assume it doesn't do that on the download version judging by the praise in the comments.
So I couldn't really get far into the game but the mood and graphics were rad as heck!
I'll give it another try tonight with a different browser. My first attempt was with Firefox, under win 10, with no input devices other than a cheap USB mouse.
...maybe it was the cheap mouse? lol it worked way better without the mouse plugged in, still a struggle to control with a laptop trackpad, but doable. i completed a delivery and got to see a bit more of the game content so that's great thanks <3
This is what I see when I click the link: Screenshot 2023-05-01 111138.png
i like the body guns!
so simple, so silly, loved it
i didn't do that great but it was really fun! i couldn't help but imagine it with touch controls and playing on a tablet. excellent compo entry <3

Can you publish a web build please?
I love how it fits in one fully coherent package, and has a distinct mood (the color scheme and fisheye zoom in camera effect really brings it home)
Can you upload a web build?
i found it very difficult but i'm also so uncoordinated i fall out of my chair sometimes. This is a masterpiece for the compo constraints loved it good job!
i thought i was driving around in circles at first several times before i realized the levels were procedurally generated and I was just seeing the same set of corners and parked cars a few times in a row
i loved the tunes and the aesthetic
i didn't really understand what to do, but i liked switching between two characters with different abilities that was cool
I flew around for a bit but the movement was maybe broken? If I pressed W then the player would zip straight up extremely quickly but flying any other direction (with S, A, or D) the player would move only extremely slowly... just going from the left side of the screen to the right could take minutes. I never encountered the guardian. Is it a bug or intentional? I played the web build btw
definitely the longest i've played a PICO-8 game, i especially appreciated the hungry art connoisseur. well done
It is difficult! I like the delivery dude's animation
the bgm is a banger, whole game is pro grade good job
How do I tell if I played the jam or post-jam version? I played at the itch link
ok thanks! Just want to make sure I rated the jam version <3 <3 <3
Please publish a web build!
i liked the puzzles but i struggled with the ladder. i like the mechanic, I think it's novel because i can't think of any games with ladder puzzles like these!
Please upload a web build!
@gary-the-enchanter I'll give it a try when I get home thanks!!
i struggled with the inverted flight controls but the art and concept is really great!!
i like all the cool stuff that you got in there for a compo entry that's awesome as heck. its so tough to add real depth in a game with those constraints and you did it!
Please publish a web build!
good job! it was very difficult and i couldn't get far (the handhold hitboxes seem so small or my clicking was not very accurate) but its a complete package and nice to look at
The monkey is SO CUTE. Charming entry great job <3
cool aesthetic! the animations really solid too <3
Please publish a web build!
great execution and the character art is fantastic and the tunes are rad!
SO SILLY loved it
haha great compo entry, i thought the music and seizure button was humorous
please upload a web build!
i thought it was charming and a good execution of the concept in a very short amount of time, and it is a full package even if it's not frilly
The mood was moody! I didn't get very far because I had to start at the beginning every time I died and I died a *lot*. Congrats on a complete entry!
It took a minute but I got the hang of it. It's notable that PICO-8 doesn't have sprite rotation in its API and you had to make it yourself and its a really cool effect!
nice and moody, mouse was wayyyy too sensitive and i didn't figure out how to reduce the sensitivity
brilliant, everything brilliant 5/5 mood 5/5 humor
Good first attempt! I didn't really understand what was going on, and after I got a little bit into the level the blobs got me and slowed me down. I threw all my cards at them, then the blobs disappeared - but after that I still couldn't move!
Please upload a web build!
This was great, I think it would be awesome if you doubled the truck speed and used the developer mouse features to place the arrows! I struggled with the cursor because it would skip over unplaceable tiles which, on the early levels especially, has the effect of moving my cursor from one end of the screen to the other at times
that said compo is hard and pico-8 is already challenging, and this is a fully formed game loop with original mechanics, fantastic job
Please publish a web build!

You don't have to sweat through submission hour to get a port working, the rules are very clear about that:
> Porting (especially to Web or Windows) can happen after the initial 48 hours. The longer you wait though, the less time participants will have to play your game.
from https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules under **Additional Notes for both the Jam and Compo**
Thanks I'll check it out after dinner!!!
This was great! I got scared, and then died
those dastardly packages! cool art style. 5/5 theme i haven't seen many ppl make the objective to prevent a delivery
popopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopopop
2 million!
brilliant, just a really well executed compo game. I got less than 10k in the end, but it was a ton of fun and an original game
i got 56!!! good job on the compo!!!
cool to see a working game in 6 hours, that's tough!! I wish I could enlarge the screen a bit, the tiles are incredibly tiny on 4k displays (web version)
Please upload a web build!
Please upload a web build!
You're right, I'm silly. Forgot about that cool new feature! (I thought it was a promo video lol)
infinite boost??? i love it!! GG
if the web player doesn't load on the LD page opening the iframe in its own tab got it working for me <3 (firefox)
Supremely difficult! It took all 11 arrows on the second level to kill the single zombie, and the next level with three zombies and 1 arrow isn't enough to kill any of them, so that's where I got stuck. The game is humorous and looks cool too. High marks for sound design XD
It's true, in compo, there is just never enough time. I thought you did a good job and it's cool to look at and very moody.
Super cute, very polished entry and I appreciate all the goofy humor.
I could have used some checkpoints but this was fun and silly and that's my jam.
There were several "platformers with boundaries around them" games this round but this is the best "platformers with boundaries around them" game in the compo imho. I beat every level, some were tricky!!
I love the "no button" control scheme, only have to maneuver well. Cool game GG!
I think doritos are my favorite flavor of space ship now, this was nice to look at. Also I love that the controls are not complicated at all.
210 !!
Pretty happy about it. As far as I can tell, there isn't a reason to use the mouse except that the shoot button is bound to it. Maybe I missed it, but it would be nice if I could have played with just keyboard alone.
jam games making me cry today i guess...
What an adventure! Had one adventure where I just kept adding "bad" memories until it was pretty much the whole mind...
Very challenging! Mood is on point. I didn't get far before I started racking up violations but it was cool to push the buttons and tell the ships where to go XD
I think I survived 10 days, this game has a cool aesthetic. I had a dog on my island! But no opera singer...
I had no performance problems in firefox.
When I glanced at the controls and saw there were only four buttons I had high hopes, and I was rewarded with a clever puzzle game. I managed to get just over 2000 without much strategy, and I know I can do better when I try again. Of course there's room for juice but this is compo and this is a great compo entry. Loved it.
I like the look of this a lot, and maybe this could even be adapted to a fun tabletop solitaire game! Just need a 6x6 board, a bunch of tiles and a six sided die...
Is it even possible to eat the fly? My high score was 615 and I swear I got the frog and fly to collide a few times but nothing ever happened. I started to wonder if it was just set dressing... all in all this is adorable and complete, and another great PICO-8 package.
Tight demo, it seems like everything works! Best of luck if you choose to elaborate on it
lol I couldn't get past the 3rd or 4th level but it was pretty funny. I love the old scifi tv show away mission vibe.
Gosh I love procedural content in jam games, that's always so cool. It's compo, you know there's plenty you could have elaborated on if you had more time. I think it's a good idea and well executed and just the right bite-size for a jam and folks that are really into the genre will be rewarded with plenty of content
tooltips over the symbols was all I was missing
This guy! Fantasy consoles not good enough for you, gotta make a game for a REAL console! Well done.
I got around 400 points, mostly taking hull damage when asteroids spawned on the opposite side of the screen such that it would be impossible to reach them in time before losing a man. But this is a compo entry and cool as hell. Looks great. Nice touch that the web version includes the CRT shader.
I struggled with drawing the box, it really, *really* wants you to draw from the top left to the bottom right and my instinct most of the time was the opposite, which doesn't work very well.
Cute puzzler! I love the little kitty guy and his quest for the lightning
Nice sprite work and the puzzles made me think. Those flowers grow really fast! I made it to the end, though. GG!
Would love it if the reset were instant! Very good game. I accept that level 15 stumped me and there are too many games to rate to spend another 20 minutes on it XD
Everything looks and feels good. Solid compo entry
@adam-gould maybe an unlimited "undo" button instead of a restart? I could see myself mashing out my frustration on the undo button, have the pieces zip back out of the truck
but as-is it's quality work don't get me wrong.
Made to the end and I had to "cheese" it a little bit by rapidly pressing buttons when I felt stuck. This is a great game, really cool effects in a TIC game! <3
I managed to get it to hang after I simultaneously rotated and placed a piece. At least, I think it was that. I had also just grabbed a package and moved it backwards so it wouldn't fall into the fire XD
This really works well though, good controls, I thought it was fun.
Very difficult! It looks great though, cool scenery and character art.
Gosh the little veggie's faces are definitely my favorite part!!
This is good! tic is tricky and this is a good, working game in a short time with a cool, original concept that was executed well.
If I could change anything (other than the music) it would be to have control over the character with directional controls.
A most excellent entry! Lots of cool furniture, I'm jealous. I want that house and that decor.
I struggled to find my feet and hands as my body became a jumble of limbs several times, but it's funny!
Within a second or two of getting control of the character, just walking around near where the character spawns (I'm playing the version embedded into the page you're reading this comment on)Screenshot 2023-10-01 181245.png
I will come back to this when ratings open up <3
Cute way to tell a story with PICO-8!!
At the end of the epilogue, as soon as the fade-out completes on the rocket the game crashes with: Screenshot 2023-10-06 143243.png
I played the version on lexaloffle. I had Franklin, Caitlyn, Scarlett, Denise, Alice, and Terry on my ship (if it matters).
Don't forget to play and rate other folks' games!!!
lol why are they fighting in hot tubs??? This was great, really cute art, and I didn't fully figure out how damage was calculated. I can see how it would be a frantic nightmare with a second player XD
GG
Please tag me if you get the web build working again!
This is one of the better AI games, most are just too open ended. This is scoped way down and makes sense.
I got 5840! Is that good?
It was rough, I ran out of sand almost immediately and the coconuts kept spawning the same place where the badguys spawned!
Very cute game. Well done.
Very cool! Don't forget to play and rate other folks' games, too!
I got to 1299m, turbo break was my favorite part.
I couldn't play this because the web player wouldn't work - try uploading to itch? The ludum dare site game embeds are fragile.
This was delightful and frankly, perfect in every way. Loved it.
Big fan of mice and explosives, this was really cute and cool. Inspired by a classic!
@bayunyoubi What?
@sevansevan Good news, I have increased the probability of long cats!
@endurion Push "x" on keyboard or the B button on controller to quick restart after a game over to skip the title screen
@jd698 Maybe more effort than its worth, but you can get TIC80 for android and run the `ififitsisits.tic` file with it...
fits_phone.jpg
@defrag You've got more wiggle room than you think! A successful fit depends on the bounds of the cat's **chest** and butt, not his head and butt
Thank you for the kind words!screen4.gif
@timo5034 Press `ESC` and in options you can bind any key on your keyboard to a gamepad button! No gamepad required.
Thank you, @tricky-fat-cat , your feedback means a lot to me <3
@alec my very first tic80 game ever! thank you for your kind words <3
@technonugget Nice score! And what a pretty cat!
@scott-steffes yeah tic80 has strange key binding! It's effectively a gamepad with `a`, `b`, `x`, `y` and directional controls, but they're mapped to the keyboard as `z`, `x`, `a`, and `s` and the arrow keys.
Since I made both the directional controls and the gamepad `x` and `y` buttons share the same functions, we get the strange `a` and `s` keyboard bindings. I chose not to alter the bindings from default to preserve functionality with physical controllers. If it's an inconvenience, you can rebind the keyboard controls in the game's options menu by hitting `ESC`!
@sbeif great minds think alike ;-)
@najjaman Thanks for the feedback! It looks like your sentence got cut off for item "a)", but I think you might be asking if there's a way quick restart after losing? Pushing `B` on gamepad or `x` on the keyboard should start a new game without having to sit through the title screen. I really should have put it in the UI but didn't have time.
I like the idea of a button press to advance to the next box!
@lcstark "perfect" fits have a 1% margin of error (in the favor of the player) but due to the logic I'm using to calculate success (jam quality code) you're far more likely to get "perfect" fits on very large boxes than it is on medium and small boxes.
I hope you have fun with tic80! If you've already used PICO-8 you'll find many similarities - and a few differences, some welcome, some not!
@ellaris I'm sorry the instructions were confusing, I'll do better to communicate the rules and buttons better next time. For what it's worth, you can skip the title screen when you game over by pressing "x" on the keyboard or the "B" button on an xbox controller.
Thanks for giving it a try!
@100th-coin re: butthole
i was kinda reaching for that humor rating, but it's too late for me to chicken out and patch it now
Pretty darn cute, and mobile friendly, too. Love that!
Pretty cute! I adore this for its simplicity. In my efforts to avoid collisions I had ships running really fancy twisty loopy paths, and it worked for a while - until inevitably a ship spawns at the corner and bumps into another ship or the environment.
lots of fun
Oh, this is so polished!! I didn't get very far because I couldn't figure out how to rotate the rooms and kept running out of time, but the sounds is good and it looks great.
It looks like the character sprite is stretched out vertically in the game, but has square pixels in the art on the itch page. Was that a deliberate design decision?
Screenshot 2023-10-13 144202.png
It was better now that the controls are fixed but goodness it is difficult! I didn't get far but it's awesome to finish a compo game with both 3D and music-timing elements!
Pretty cool! It was definitely moody. I didn't beat it but the scanner is a cool mechanic.
6700!! I probably could have gone longer but the "transparency texture ghost" spawned directly on top of me and killed me instantly
I feel silly, this is one of the first games I rated, but forgot to comment on it! This is an excellent compo game and one of my favorites this round. <3 <3 <3
Attractive art style! I didn't have to think hard to grasp the controls. Not sure if jumping did much but it was cool to see cube guy bounce all over the place!
wow epic mood!
I had some trouble with the web build (couldn't look behind me or downwards) but it looks cool and has a big mood!
I didn't beat it, but I got a couple levels in. No issues on windows firefox.
The mechanics worked pretty well! And it's a complete game in the compo. Great job <3
Great demo! lol i'm a bug 5ff72.gif
This is the best looking game I've seen in the jam I think, everything is very carefully designed. I couldn't get the cats to go in tub though, they just sat on it.
GG
I love that the ride passengers just emit streams of emoji nonsense, talking your ear off the entire ride XD
I got 14 points! My first round I didn't understand that the little guys were bad, I thought they were my little pals following me around the grid...
Fun and frantic!
I got third! Mostly because I stopped bothering to shoot enemies and just flew right through them (until eventually this tactic failed and i died). I think I never got a score multiplier though, that was always at zero.
Screenshot 2023-10-20 144937.png
Lots of mechanics in a compo game, ambitious and it paid off. I don't worry too much about sound anyway. GG
It looks nice and it plays nice! If I had to complain about something it would be the lack of any visual confirmation that you're being damaged.
I'm going to interpret the fidgety camera as an extreme dedication to the PSX/N64 aesthetic, which I liked a lot. This is a great product of a jam, things mostly work, it has a beginning and an end (I think?) and cute character art and more polish than a jam game could expect to have.
What a thoughtful and detailed jam game, probably just the right scope for a jam and it has everything a loot goblin could want
Looked good in 4K! I'll be honest I had no idea what I was doing but the colors and effects were pretty, good job <3
It's a little game with a lot of character and goodness I love procedural content. I probably could have done better if I played with a little more strategy but it was cool seeing how far I could go. Good jam game
This is cute and really polished. Some of the puzzles were over my head, so I didn't get to the end, but it's a good looking product and a great jam game.
Cool swiping technique to kill the ghosts! I had fun, but I didn't get a big high score XD
It's a lot of fun to see ideas that are different from other games and I haven't seen another game like this in LD54
@jerem-watts I liked the story, I can't say I really understood it, but I liked it, and the character art was charming. I liked the ending. GG!
I did terribly lol, I think I killed 40 mobs? Perhaps I can't read fast enough to understand what's good to keep and what isn't. I love the look of it, though.
I liked the writing, the transmissions between ship and docks were funny!
I love the car movement mechanics, that's pretty great, and I do love games where I can ram bad guys as an offensive move. Well done <3
this is great character art, they look soooo cool. If this gets adapted to a comic book I want to read it!
Smart, smart, smart. Small scope, great execution, that's how to do it, good job!
I empathize completely with the bubble pets. They're just like me, sitting around waiting to be fed and getting mad and exploding when I'm not fed...
It's so easy to overscope in a jam! Better luck next time!!
Please publish a web build!
That was silly and fun! I think I got caught in a loop but it was humorous and I'm glad you had a fun jam.
lol i love how mean it is
Oh geez when those vertical lazers came on my SPACE got really LIMITED. Neat game, I didn't understand what everything did but it looked cool and played nice.
> I’m actually thinking in quiting the ludum version of the game because the windows size cuts off some important visual info that the itch.io version shows.
Good idea. The LD game embeds are always glitchy, it's not your fault
lol thank science it's color coded, my mastery of advanced math is not so good if i were to identify them any other way!!
I love wario ware in space, what a brilliant idea.
Usually when I don't know what to do in a game, I get very frustrated. But this time, I decided to treat it as though figuring out the gameplay was a puzzle itself. I was rewarded for that and got to make lemonade <3
Oof, it's very difficult! I believe I understood the instructions, it took a second try to really "get" it. It would be helpful if there were a visual indicator of which rings were inaccessible at any given time, for example if I had a tower on the board then the outermost ring would be a different color (or missing completely). But it's also compo, and there is just never enough time!!
That's a cool, hyper-specific concept and it works perfectly with the theme. I found it too difficult, but it is functional and goodness it has mood!
This was really silly and fun - like some other folks I got immediately wrecked and not sure how I died, even when I figured out I had to bash the report card. I like the boss-rush attitude though
I didn't get very far, but I really liked the character sprites. Syncing the lazer to the music was very clever!
This was cute and fun and it's a shame I can't rate it :,-)
Very high difficulty, haha! I was never able to fill up my inventory before the controls seemed to stop working and inevitably I'd crash into the planet or the ship would just float along doing whatever it wanted instead of following the mouse. Cool sfx and mood!
I did my best but the light flashing on and off constantly is too distracting, so I had to stop after collecting just one or two things. Is there a way to turn it on and leave it on?
I liked it! I wish I had a score so I could brag about it, but I got to the fourth level, I think.
I made it to the end and all I lost was my head! Hahaha
Pretty cute! I couldn't beat it, but I love that the player character has a big fluffy hair-do. Played in 4K fullscreen, no issues.
Maybe the second or third level after the timed retracting spike traps first appeared I think.
No, it had a vertical section on the left side of the stage and the exit was at the top right, with a little spinny blade right in front of the door and static spikes on the ceiling
Worked fine for me in firefox. It's a tricky puzzler, very cute and a creative way to use flocking and stuff. I hope you get high marks for innovation!
5/5 for THEME, very creative way to address it lol
This is supremely silly and I adore it for that.
3622!
I like the simplicity, things really just work as they're supposed to, and of course the sound and music stands out a lot.
I got 2970, eventually I ran out of food and it was just a matter of keeping the mean meatball on the other side of the blue block until the walls killed me. It's good and all it's missing is a keyboard shortcut to restart after you die.
I thought it was fun! The jump sound effects are great.
I got a win, a loss, and a draw over three playthroughs which is pretty cool. Sometimes the right strategy is just to stand still for a few rounds while the enemies stumble over each other! I thought it was fun. Looks like folks have already pointed out some opportunities for UI improvements (a keybind for "next turn" would be really convenient).
I like it a lot. It's really hard to get something elegant done inside the compo time restrictions but this is perfectly scoped and well executed.
Definitely one of my top 5 favorites in the JAM category. The core gameplay is solid and from there everything is juiced up in a really satisfying way.
I didn't have any performance problems with the web build
When I started the itch web version the first time, none of the clothes spawned and I was forced to "complete" with nothing in my suitcase... but it only happened that one time and I cannot reproduce the error.
This is cute! I like the look and there's lots of little interactive things.
I, too, ran into the "high resolution" bug playing the web build on my 4K display. I was able to click around when i moved the window to a smaller display.
It's colorful, I didn't really understand what I was doing, but I got some things built <3
Maybe I was doing it wrong, but every time I fulfilled an order and hit "next client" the client would curse at me, even if the box was full of what they asked for. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but no client left my shop happy, they were all angry.
It looks cool though, and it's got a lot of polish for a jam game. GG!!
This is adorable and I haven't seen a concept like this one yet (specifically where you *pilot* the playable space)! Smart idea and good execution. I look like a badass in my shades <3
I loved it. Really liked the tunes.
I am grateful you made the difficulty low, I could feel that you gave me a high tolerance for error. If the timing were more exact I would fail in the first couple measures and never see the ending.
I hope this is the winner for audio category!
The LD embed is broken, I suggest you just remove it and direct people to the itch page.
I love the look of this super cute 3D tangrams puzzle! Somehow I was able to zoom the camera in, but then I couldn't zoom back out, which made some of the key legend inside the case unreadable. It may have been caused when I went fullscreen using the itch web build? Not sure. Good jam game!
Screenshot 2023-10-03 203436.png
No bugs, adorable, functionally complete, great job. This is one of the better executed "cooking" jam games I've played
I hope the sound effects were as fun to make as they were to hear
Very cute art style and characters! I could not complete the second level, it would not allow me to return the pillow to the coffin even though I navigated back to it successfully (barely alive despite trying to place the bookshelf strategically).
It's a big game for a short jam, so great job! I would be more inclined to continue playing after multiple deaths if I could quickly respawn without the long exposition each time.
Adorable. Certainly one of my favorites already. If I could use gamepad instead of keyboard + mouse it would be perfect.
Can you upload a web build? I'm pretty sure ren'py has html export.
I'd love to give this game a try, please tag me if you compile a version I can play in a browser!
Thank you!! I got out of the casket but could not solve the locker puzzle. Love the art and story and characters <3
gosh there are so many good compo games this round. This is another one of them. Maybe I cheesed it a little bit? On some patterns you can just park your ship in a safe spot and still get tons of bonus for being close to the red dot spawn locations.
`327'975` Screenshot 2023-10-03 195628.png
Maybe it was my mouse but I just couldn't move the points fast enough and the ball moves SO FAST. I got stuck on level 3. Very cool, very INNOVATIVE game design though!!!
Looks cool, great concept, just a bit too difficult for me - level 2 was too much and I couldn't get past it.
The controls were confusing at first, but I figured them out pretty well i think.
I would like if it would end my game and restart if I run out of words - I got one word in and the remain letters were `v`, `l`, `m`, and `k`... there's no word made exclusively from those letters and I have to refresh the page to try again.
The style is adorable, and maybe I don't understand how to play, but I enjoyed poking at it.
I thought this was cute and well put-together for a compo!! Great job. Maybe consider adding a "close" button to the window with the tutorial text? I accidentally started defragging before I figured out how to close the window (you have to hit a button on the task bar???) and played the first 20 seconds of the game with teh giant tutorial window in the way
I don't have much to contribute, I think I got 5 or 6 puzzles in and enjoyed it. The flowers + pots theme is way nicer to play and look at than "warehouse worker and crates". Nice twist with adding floor space as a game mechanic!
Pretty tough! I got squished between the map and the bounding box a few times, it wasn't always enemies that got me, but often the environment. Monochrome looks pretty good and the red highlights look great, they're big enough I can see the enemies even if they're mostly white.
What a cool concept! I had fun flopping my tether around
Grampas sure are their own breed huh?
I adore the character art.
Cool compo entry! Maybe I didn't read the tut closely but it wasn't obvious that `enter` would start the fight... i was stuck at the placement screen for a while haha
Got through three levels, it's tricky! Smart and good looking, it wasn't really overcomplicated like a lot of the games this jam. Very solid compo entry, especially with leaderboards and everything 👍👍👍
I didn't really understand how to get a good juror score, frequently I'd see that I need, say, 4 jurors, but when i go out to select jurors it takes me back to the court room after I only selected 3. The cityscape frequently obscured the camera even when i zoom in, making it hard to select jurors. Pretty confusing, or I just don't get it.
Art is great and the noises are fun!
I never got a parry to work, no idea what the timing is supposed to be, but the tunes are great and production values are high.
I actually found this on pico-8 splore before I found it on the LD site. Super cute sprites, functional and complete game loop, and I had no problems with collision. Cute and fun, like pico carts should be. Well done.
Sometimes it seemed like the cops ignored my donuts but that didn't stop me from getting a win after one or two tries.
First, bless you for the web build. Second, gamepad worked really well. Looks good, plays decently, and all the assets work together well.
Delightful! I dislike the keyboard + mouse controls but the cuteness more than compensates. IMHO a game like this should be playable with a controller. It's quite a bit of fun
This game is indistinguishable from Diablo, even down to the inventory duplication exploit! Screenshot 2024-04-19 021030.png
Please tag me if you make a post-jam version with more content, I'll play it again.
iirc "The Fonz" is from Happy Days, which is a bit before my time, heh.
I couldn't get past Pigeon-Karen but the whole thing is beautiful and amazing. Epic jam game with LOTS of polish.
Yeah haha @denismarasan I didn't want a "restart button" at all... I plan to resolve that in the post jam! Thanks for playing
@lamp-p haha I can't take credit for the pause menu - that's built into PICO-8! thank you for the kind words
@joeshanahan Thanks for playing!
I addressed (some of) your feedback in the post-jame version <3
@leorean Thanks for giving it a try! <3 <3 <3
My opponent was also missing their head, but what an adorable entry. Clicked around and things happened!
Looks cool, but I was unable to figure out how to flip the pages in the book.
I didn't *really* understand what was going on but hopping about and spawning whenever I had cards in my hand seemed to get me a win. The friendly fire, though... I rarely had two spawns out at the same time for more than a round or two before one of my spawns ate the other. Cute art, great sounds.

I managed to get through the first round, but didn't understand how. The second round was confusing and lasted quite a bit longer, but in the end resulted in a game over. Sometimes I'd strike an acolyte and wouldn't be able to strike them again for some time later, which was frustrating.
Cool concept, great mood, and the summoning circle effects were pretty neat!
I wasn't able to summon anything, but goodness the art is adorable and I really identify with "Equally Confused Panda"!
I think I grabbed all or most collectibles above ground and then whatever I clicked on the summoning screen just didn't work. I don't remember any audio or visual queues that I "did it wrong" it just went to the next day 🤷
Too clever for me, I got stuck on the third level. But cute sprites and novel mechanics!
I swear I'm mashing the spawn button after the cooldown is finished but frequently they just don't spawn. Managed to get a couple upgrades but having creatures ready to go but failing to spawn is too frustrating.
Looks great though!
This is great on so many levels, there's a lot going on and some cool assets. I wish I could move a little faster, I wish I could play with a xbox controller, but you got a whole game here and it's cool!
I was unable to summon a cat, but the aesthetic is cool and I like cat themed games generally. It's just a bit too clever for me! Seems pretty solid and polished for a compo game <3
Charming dialogue and character art but despite my best efforts I was never able to render more than `0` aid... It seems like after I connect the dots I can't do anything else except click on the ink pot until the timer runs out! I swear I read the tutorial text twice (it was a LOT of text) but it might just be too clever for me. Looks and sounds great though <3
I didn't really understand what was going on, mostly I just got summons by flipping page-by-page thru the book and hitting the bell after every page flip because the stuff on the table and the tapes didn't make much sense. Got second place with that strategy three days in a row before I gave up.
Looks great, sounds great, the animations and sprites are hilarious and terrifying, good job.
Looks like you used gdscript, i think that means you can make a web build! (please make a web build so i can play your game ❤️)
@dovodx thanks for trying
Complex puzzler and tricky, but I put a lot of gems in holes I think... clever concept!
It's not obvious you can make the stream vertical, got stuck on level 2 (or is it 3?) for a while before figuring it out. A less dedicated (or more harried) player might have given up
Maybe I just didn't get it, but I wasn't able to summon anything. I hosted a solo game, claimed a plot, chose my walls (but walls never appeared). I went to the lectern, chose my summon type (fire, same as the walls I wanted) and then... nothing happened. Clicking around the summoning circle didn't appear to do anything either.
Might just be too clever for me, but the character sprite is cute and multiplayer in a jam is *always* impressive, so good job <3
Can't read it, but the pictures are nice.
very very silly! cute art. I didn't quite figure it out but that there are deep mechanics around the meme is pretty funny
Perfect in every way, honestly. Cute, short, intuitive, and difficulty tuned pretty much spot on.
It's exactly what it says on the tin, and very charming!
Remember math munchers? Haha this is great.
Delightfully intuitive in a jam where a disproportionate number of games are overcomplicated!
I also got Columbarium'd lol
cool story, probably the best interaction fiction i've read in a ludum dare
Ahh! It's pretty cute but I couldn't get past the first level. I'm sure I summoned a half dozen creatures but they just sat at the bottom right of the screen and didn't do anything while my tree got attacked. It's also a little frustrating that I had to click on the screen *and* use the arrow keys, unless i missed something and there's a key I can press to invoke the arrow combination without clicking...
Please publish a web build!
It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out the controls and ultimately I managed to get past the first level just by spamming F, G, H and the arrows... the same strategy I use for Street Fighter!
ggwp
I like the concept a lot, it works pretty well. I wish I didn't have to use the mouse, but of course there's just never enough time to wire up gamepad support. Cute sprites!
I like how you can freestyle a bit and still score, just like Parappa The Rapper! Very zen. The spacebar shortcuts to get past the menu and advance the level/song did not work for me and I was forced to click the buttons every time. All the musical notes seemed to work just fine.
Good job, the mechanic works well.
Adorable model, tricky gameplay but good mechanics. I enjoyed it even if I couldn't get past the first level. I liked it a lot!
`70,500` haha this was great
The pixel art was really charming, I found myself playing longer than I would have - I don't typically like this style of game but I found this one engaging.
I think I had a bit over 300 when I died... All the sprites were wonderful, it got a little chaotic towards the end but it's kinda fun and I very much appreciate the gamepad support. I love that!
I never figured out what was going on, but I think I got some of the arrow key combinations right at some point which made some more cubes appear. Clicking didn't seem to do much and if I am the cube character in the center of the screen I was never able to direct its movement in any meaningful way that I could determine. The animation and "throbbing" of the onscreen arrows was pretty cool.
SPOILERS?
I didn't have to summon anything after the tutorial and made it down to (what I assume) is the final boss dragon thing in a large room. But after I defeated the dragon... nothing happened! I was trapped in the room because I couldn't jump back out and continue exploring. Did I beat it? There wasn't a screen or anything to tell me that I won, I was just stuck in a pit with dinosaur eggs and crystals.
It looks and sounds good, to me it felt like the frame rate was really low - like 20 fps. I played on a 4k display. Didn't have too much trouble with movement, if anything, I really liked that I could zoom around. I didn't *intentionally* speedrun it but it felt like I was...
I couldn't figure it out besides what I could replicate from the first 20 sec or so of the tutorial video, but the art is cute and and the sfx are on point. <3
Best one I played, managed to beat it (using a tablet) - but it just said I won and didn't seem to summon anything (unless summoning everyone at once for the "you win" screen *is* the summon for that round)
The last one was the only one I had to attempt more than once, I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be to play with a mouse, hahaha!
Is it supposed to look like this? Screenshot 2024-04-21 124823.png
I think the character art is cute but it's too small to see. Sometimes the monsters fought each other (i think?) and sometimes they attacked my cities and sometimes they just exploded, I wasn't really sure what was going on. The sprites are cute though!
I think I died with 50+ seconds remaining in all my attempts XD
