Overall I think your game is verry innovative and well done. Since we also developed a board/card game, I can see that you have a lot of the same issues. It is a bit overwhelming in the beginning with all the mechanics and you should focus on giving more feedback to every action that happens. I also think i encounterd a bug, because sometimes my handcards were randomly dissapearing, but I could not reproduce it reliably. Overall good job and well done especially for the limited time :)

@jestemstefan Yeah thank you. This games was made from one of my board game prototypes. We also took the card design and the art from that prototype, while not spending too much thought on how it would look on a screen. We planned on implementing a zoom mechanic on a right click to make the stats more visible, but ran out of time in the end.

@sakkia we spend the 72 hours doing nothing but eating sleeping and coding with few breaks to not go insane. In the beginning we had everithing slightly better looking with assets from the store, but we decided in the spirit of Ludum dare to do it ourself. There was really no time to work on the art much more. However for the next Ludum dare a friend who is quite talanted with arts has offered to join us, so look forward to that. Also as we said before we are planning to keep working on this, we plan on having the board in an xcom like stile with actual 3D models for creatures(from the unity asset store). So keep an eye out for that

@sockyman I think it is quite interessting that we get such mixed feedback about the complexity. Whith people saying they skip the tutorial and still figure it out and then some people just being outright confused. I think it is on us to make the game more accesible to everyone, with a huge emphesis on a better tutorial.

The sound and particle effects are a good point you are bringing up. Especially that the attacks have no feedback other than damage counters displaying. We actually had a sound libary ready loaded in the project. If there was one more day in the competition you would have had your sound effects for sure:)

@kromeboy Thank you for the Feedback. We had the mechanics of the game working only after two and a half days of nearly non stop coding, therefore we only had time for a bare bone UI, since we also worked on the ai after that. The problem with the information size is completly on us and something we will definetly learn from, since this was our first game ever :) We are currently working on a complete graphical overahaul of the game so keep an eye out for that after the rating is over:)

@littlew00d Thank you for playing and the suggestions. I am really Happy we chose something bigger, because now we started a project out of this. In the current state of the game we got rid of the counters completly, every creature now has its own 3D model and if you hover over them, all important stats will be shown. The world is in 3D and the camera can be controlled like in a RTS game. Also every piece of art has been replaced by some Assets, visually it looks amazong now. We will probably drop a Trailer in the next week or two. The gameplay is still completly the same for now, we will touch that once we got the new version in a playable state (Only some Bugfixing left for now).

The art is beautiful. I love the moving clouds in the background, makes the whole game feel a lot more alive.

I especially like that there is always a way to catch the tomato without taking even if a rock is falling in the same position. You can always either grab the tomato before the rock fell or after due to the fast speed of the rocks. I don't know if that was designed deliberately, if yes that was very thoughtful.

I had the same problem as @starblast the first time, but the room worked the second time, when i first went the other way. I really like the art style, gives the game a nice mood together with the sound. I'm not really a fan of the combat. As so many say the general presentation of the game is beautiful, and the general mechanics work well. In my first try all my buildings spawned on the very left and I had basically no chance defending them (I thought that was bad level design until i found out on the second try that i was just super unlucky). I think either you should pre-place them or constrain the random placement so that it is not unfair.

I would love to see this develop in a direction with deck building aspects, similar to slay the spire.

Wow Hit and run +potions is the winning tactic all the way :D The levels were hard at first. But once you figured out how to inch forward to not trigger multiple enemies at once and using hit and run from there, made it nearly too easy. So balancing is needed, but that is expected from an LD game :) Many people had a similar interpretation of the theme as you guys, but I love how you introduced it in the game, makeing this extra intro scene really makes it stand out from those simmilar interpretations. Good job.

If I place the cards alway away from the zombies I also never die, cause I can play more then they can destroy. So basically nothing ever really happens... @kothead I'm on chrome. I could not reproduce it right now just went all the way to win. But what i can say is that i used the run tactic on the first wave to build a huge base yesterday. And then it crashed on the second. So maybe that has to do with it.

I really think you should explain the rules. All the different mini design differences on the cards seem so cool and I'm sure they all have an effect. It would be really cool to know what they do. Maybe you could still start with the you know nothing, but once you unlock a certain design for the first time it tells you why you unlocked it and what it does.

This game has huge potential, and it is sad to see som much of it wasted.

Do you plan on developing this further? I'd like to see many more cards, maybe even some deck building (you have to chose 6) and a two player mode where you both start building a base in oposite corners :)

you did not create the grass, trees, ground textures flowers etc. These are all standard assets that come with gaia.

I don't think you were trying "fool" anyone, I just think you are unaware that you have to opt out of the graphic section if you did not create the assets yourself. Same goes probably for the audio.

Please still opt out, you still have the option on your game page. It is unfair to all the creators that spend their time creating assets. I myself used premade assets (some of which are the same as yours, that's how i know for sure), which is why I opted out of said categories.

Felt like CS:GO surf on steroids. It was quite fun but also buggy, most of them were gone after jumping pr moving, sometimes I had to die and once i had to restart the game. (Some of many examples: i once jumped and never stopped jumping until everything disappeared below me, the audio never started playing the first time,i got stuck on some slopes and could move only super slow).

The movement needs some fine tuning and I would suggest an option for mouse sensitivity, but overall it feels very cool to surf those doors.

The checkpoints were also placed very fair. If I died due to a bug or my own stupidity I would never loose too much. Also the bossfight was much fun.

Would love some multiplayer shooter action with this movement, but I know how hard that is to implement.

One thing I would change is to give the player a maximum ammount of resources they can carry from island to island, because I was able to delay the food collection and could farm a lot of the other resources before taking of. I managed to leave the first Island with nearly 500 wood and 27 extra workers (that don't even consume food anymore on the new Island) Also you can't die from food on the island it just goes negative. Generally the gameplay is hardly challanging at all. So really solid basis, but the gameplay needs some polish.

@baturinsky I played a couple of years of club chess as a child, but I am not extremly strong 1300 on lichess if that tells you something.

I found the Human Wavemode the easiest out of the 3.

I guess your AI is based on Tree search but does not consider the possibilities of placing extra pieces. Am I correct? Did you write your own AI or did you use one of the open source libaries?

One of the things that makes it so easy is that the AI always brings the queen into play very early, which would make sense if your oponent had only very few pieces remaining. But like this you can improve your position with a tempo on the queen nearly every move. This makes it very easy. Also every time your AI desides to attack a piece you can place your piece to attack a second piece and the opponent can't defend both threats at once.

For the human wavemode you just keep placing pawns with a tempo on your opponents pieces untill you have an unbreakable wall. This would all be not possible if the opponent opened a lot more reserved, starting with a forward pawn structure for himself.

Still even with a better ai that takes the placing into account white should be inherently better, since he can open however he wants and the placing basically gives you extra moves. Which is why i suggested removing some of whites pieces as compensation :)

Using only the first two rows is a lot more challenging but mostly frustrating since your ai basically tries to bring the king into the center, which is again a strategy for when you have few pieces left but very stupid for this game. I managed to win that as well once I convinced the ai to bring the king to safety.

Only second row is not an option because it gets full.

btw @kekkodude this is called a draw by 3fold repetition, not a stalemate. A stalemate is a draw because one side has no legal moves but is also not in checkmate

@baturinsky I don't think that is possible. Placing a queen without attacking any piece for example is nearly impossible. What I would do is make a disadvantage slider in random mode, measured in pawn value. if you set it to 0 you'll get all the pieces in the end. If you set it to 1 it will give you 1 less pawn. If you set it to 3 it will give you either 3 less pawn or 1 less bishop or knight etc.

Ok this has potential, but as it is right now there are some issues. 1. the controls feel clunky. I would either increase the dropdown speed or add a swim down function to the "s" key. 2. the hitboxes of the junk are off. I often die while the junk is clearly still away from the turtle. Also why do I die if a straw hits the back of my shell? Turtle shells are hard. At least for some of the items i would not count hits to the shell as kills. 3. RNG sometimes gives you impossible configurations where there is a hook on top and fishes and Junk create an inpenetrable wall. Rework the placement of the Junk to make sure such configurations don't happen. 4. The Star ammo has no skill attatched to is as it is. Since there is a timer on it and not an ammount you just spam shoot as soon as you get it. I would not limit it by time but by uses.

Other than that adorable art and nice game.

Really cool Idea. I have two sugggestions. 1. Endless mode: your score is counted in pawns (pawn1 bishop/knight3 rook5 queen9) so you can go for a highscore. 2. Hard mode: you loose if you make an illegal chess move. You'd have to find a way to deal with the queen tho. like making her move on her own next to you sometimes, or having hardmode only for endless and simply accept that you can never capture the queen. (In that case hard mode might actually be decent training for ultra bullet chess)

Also please play and rate some games yourself. This comunity relies on everyone doing their part :)

I love the mood and the artstyle good job on that. I also quite like the general gameplay Idea, but this part needs a lot of polish 1. Minions Bosses and even the character sometimes glitch through walls etc. 2. It gets super laggy with many minions (I guess write one script to controll all minions and not a script for each minion in unity could help here). 3. The RNG in this game is terrible. Sometimes there is no reachable portal room. (once I only had the three neighbouring rooms with none of them having furtner connections). Sometimes every neighbouring room spamms enemies while you have not a single minion. Sometimes you get like 10 minions in the beginning and the enemies are not even a challange at all.

You really have to rewrite that random generation algorithm. Place only easy rooms right next to the player where he can find like 1-2 minions and 0-1 enemies. an make the rooms harder as you get further away from the start. also only generate rooms which have further connections until you have generated the portal room.

This game has a lot of potential and I would like to hear about an update if if you adressed the points I mentioned.

All in all a funny shortlived concept. That was fun to play

I love the way you introduced the mechanics, it was very intuitive, also the movement felt incredibly polished. Also also you included an Indicator of where to go! I don't know how often I have commented under similar games that something like that makes a game a lot less tideous.

The graphics are incredibly clean and nice, which is extra impressive for such a short time and the audio was very good as well. I don't know what to say other than I hope you win this ludum dare! @t-bo I believe the Highscore counter is glitched atm. In your first webgl version i scored 9000 with no problems. I last a lot longer on the current versions and rarely get over 500 (while lasting a lot longer than in the release version). Then sometimes I get 300 before i saw the first obstacle. I tested the windows versions (all 3 of them) and the highscore stays at 1 the whole time. Once it got to 4 but that was it.

Having the webgl version minimized while waving the mouse across the screen (sometimes) makes the score go similar to the initial version, but that can't really be the solution.

So somhow the score is not added consitently. Moving the score counter into the fixedupdate method in unity could solve the problem. otherwise you could try multipying the updated score with time.deltaTime if you use the regular update or define a delta time yourself between when the score updated the last time.

You are probably the more experienced game developer so ignore this advise if you don't think it helps you:

I think the lagg issues at around 60k are due to unity's garbage collector, since they are micro laggs that come up every few seconds. You could try to not instantiate and destroy your gameobjects, but set them active and inactive and reset their positions. The driving inbetween lanes is probably due to small errors for every lane switch. Instead of adding to the position, you could try to find a way to set the position every time.

Chrome version and the lags arround 60k are fixed, good job, but the car drifting to the right is not. from~100k on, it drifted a full lane to the right so that I could avoid all obstacles by dring right of the rightmost lane (see video). 1. When you try to change the tree type while you are in a position where you can plant, you will plant the currently selected tree before switching over. I would suggest you check if one of the tree buttons is pressed and if so don't plant the tree. Alternatively only plant trees when the mouse is above the groundplane. 2. New patches of grass grow too slow. Even with multiple trees of live you can not replant fast enough against the bulldozers. My suggestions are: 1.give some indicator around enemies that are above and below you, like a green and red outline. 2.give the kill to the one who did the most damage. Otherwise good job

Now to some more constructive feedback I feel the maze in the garden was pointless, since it was more of a twisted path, which means the only thing it did was making the walk longer and walking in a game is not som much fun most of the time. I would suggest either making it an actual maze with some wrong turns or making the path to the key straight. I found that the hitboxes for the switches on the barrels where a bit too large, I often accedentaly hit two switches at the same time. And finally other than @scott-redrup I don't think the map was too big, I feel the view should have been zoomed out a little more, to figure out better where you are going.

I really liked how responsive the controlls felt. Also the interpretation of the theme is quite unique. The general gameplay works. Great fighting mechanics. I dod not find it hard to understand at all. In the end is there no win screen? I just got fight after fight after fight in the end. I felt I should have gotten a win screen once I could found my dojo. There are some balance issues, the mages do like nothing and the warriors are overpowerd with insane damage and HP. I also had some bugs where members from my party got deleted over and over again. I won and after I won I had one less character in my party. So I had to do the same fight again and again. after like 3 times i could finally add a new member. I loved the graphics. That was adorable. Such great work for so few days Good Job.

Nice short platformer with precice jumps. It was very short even for a LD game, but I prefer that when the game and especially the movement mechanics are polished like that. I found the path was pretty obvious, but maybe I have just played too many similar games. (Your missdirections were not working on me muhaha).

Your game works very well. I guess the biggest complaint I have is that it feels just like every other platformer. There is nothing new or special about it.

Since this was your first LD i think you learned quite a lot and the next time you can make more levels and try some more innovative mechanics :)

I don't know if you were worried about coppyright, but I think that would have fallen under fair use. (I'm no lawyer tho)

The gameplay was quite cool, but short. And I would have loved if you included some gameplay from the "escape the snake coiling" part.

Usually people tend to make very shallow but well polished games during the game jams. This is quite a deep game with lots of mechanics for such a short time, but on the downside it is missing some polish (This is a tradeoff, I don't nescessarily see this as a bad thing).

I myself usually do more cool mechanics for the cost of polish.

Playing something slightly more complex was a welcoming change. I hat quite some fun trying all the different characters. Right now the gold is useless, after the first wave I had enough gold to unlock everything, so the way to unlock was just by doing the challenges.

Here are some quality of life improvements i would suggest:

- Figuring out what an ability does right now is pretty much learning by doing maybe have the range indicatros already lit up when you hover over the ability and maybe add a short description of the abilities in the party tab?

- Figuring our what the enemies do is even more difficult. Maybe have a little enemy wiki even just in text form in the game description. I just sometimes suddenly see poison and then one of my characters dies and I don'T even know which enemy did it.

-Drag and drop for placing would be nice and much more intuitive (But if you do a lot of mechanics you usually don't have time for stuff like that) Also there are a few bugs. E.g. Once some poison effects were already on the board when it loaded.

Overall A great game with a lot of potential for Post LD versions

Sometimes enemies get stuck in the bottom right corner. I waited for an eternety for a parasite to randomly walk to the left, but he never did. I was a bit stubborn about this and in the end still had to abbort.

Overall I liked your game, but a lot of Optimizetions and Player Feedback needs to be done.

I suggest next time You playtest some more with friends and family because it is such a shame. Mechanically this could have been one of the best games without those annoyances.

Playing this normally however is quite challenging. This also is programmer art at its best!

One thing: I would have disabled collisions on the food pallets. If they get stuck on a predator your fish will steer right into the predator, which is not much fun.

@radow Yeah the map was just a sugestion. But I do feel that it is really hard to remember what you have and have not explored especially since everything looked quite similar. Maybe instead of a Map overlay, you could have a paper map with the layout on a pillar or Wooden Board near the Spawn. But in the end this is your descision!

A more elaborate fix would be to differentiate the different parts a little bit more so you can remember more easily where you have been.

@lcstark Really cool game I liked it a lot especially for a compo game.

As i have gathered from your other replies, you are not intending to do a post-LD version which is a shame. But I will therefore focus my review on what could have been done on a compo timescale.

The graphics are fine and get the job done, but they are not what this game is about. The Audio is suprisingly good since you said you have no experience with that!

The mechanics are quite complex and polished at the same time for a compo game and this is what makes this game stand out.

Here are a few Ideas of what I might have done:

I would have added more feedback in general: for hits, a little screen shake a small explosion, for picking up missing parts a little screen glow or some sparkle effects etc.

I would have added bouncing projectiles, this game needs bouncing projectiles :D

I would have added some difficulty settings because right now it was very easy.

Also a fullscreen option, (Usually just setting itch.Io to "click to launch fullscreen" does this automatically unless you are doing something with fixed pixel sizes, since this is only a modification to the hosting and not the game you could even try this now)

The enemy AI is fine for the timeframe.

I could not figure out how to cook the fish. I tried clicking on the fire i tried clicking on the pot but nothing ever happened :(

I liked the graphics and the audio. However, the audio could have profited from a bit more variety, the constant wind sound got annoying after a while. For the graphics only the sidewards animations were a bit wonky.

I think Diagonal movement is faster than straight line movement. You will see me moving diagonally towards the end.

I did not like the alt click interactions and would have prefered a more classical press e to interact

Actully going for a lot of grass is not as viable as it seems, there are diminishing returns on the np generation, so more than 1-2 upgrades are mostly useless. (It counts the log of the number of grass spawned, to prevent exponential growth)

Took me quite some time playing to realize why I am always loosing when going for lots of plants early :D

@codexus don't be so impatient the first enemies show up after 45 seconds on default difficulty. So you have enough time to Grow some plants and get your first animals to defend ;)

@codexus yes the difficulty changes how often enemies spawn on the lowest setting they spawn every 2 minutes I think :)

Maybe try again and put the slider somewhat in the center. Then it is not too hard but you also don't have to wait forever

alternatively start with low dificulty until you have enough animals and then change it to high so you can see them fight in an epic battle ;)

@dylan-fries Hmm the build size is not so large with roughly 85 MB, it uses roughly 1GB of Ram on my Computer.

I'll have a look into performance in general soon, but the lighting quality settings are not too high either. But since this procedually spawns more and more objects there will be lags at some point sooner or later.

A Windows Build is up right now, but I haven't tested it for bugs

@ramonsimarro Press the NatureTree Tab, then Press on the Icons of the plants and animals and they will start spawning. Monsters will spawn every 45s if you do not change the difficulty slider on the top.

@avek That is a good point. I myself have the Nature Tree open very often. I will redesign the Tree in one of the coming updates and I will definetly take that into consideration, Thank you ! For the performance. IN my experience the windows build is not mut better unfortunately. However, In the current dev build I have switched to GPU instancing for plants which keeps my fps close to 200 constantly.

The first Post LD update: A Balance, Performance and Sound update is out right now. I will now start working on the quality of life update, which will adress most of the polish problems you mentioned. Currently upgrades only increase the spawn rate, this is briefly mentioned in the tutorial, but will change soon.

Did you play before the last update? Because it fixed issues with the wizard. That would also explain why your session froze. You did make it to the final wave right? Probably a Wizard got stuck in the Trees and was never killed, so you never got the win-screen. both of these were fixed in the last LD patch.

The Animals sometimes not defending is actually intended but needs some rework. They don't have the Task to defend the spirit stone. They only live peacefully in the forest, but if a creature comes into their sight they will try to attack it. In the future there will be abilities bought by Nature Points. One of them will cause all of your creatures to attack the nearest target they can find.

@vernalbehemoth thank you so much for the review! There is a difficulty slider in the settings (button in the top right) that you can adjust at any time during the game. In the last update i lowered the default setting because people found it too hard :D

At the moment animals recognize enemies in a 15m radius, in the future there will be abilities (which you also pay with nature Points) that allow you to order your animals around a bit :)

The disadvantage of having the typical setup for the camera in this sort of game is that you cant move your mouse to the buttons without moving the camera which is why i went for this sort of setup which is more like RTS and TBS camera movement (like in CIV)

Yes I am using the Unity audio mixer. Also in the settings you can adjust master volume, music, ambience and sfx to your liking.

That Bug is Odd, I always start close to the spirit stone.

In general I am not very happy with the health bars at the moment. I tried a few different things and was not really happy with either of them. So I just opted to get the best of the bunch in for the update, but this will recieve further work for sure!

At the moment all Spawns are tied to grass: everything spawns where grass spawns. So if your first bunch of grass generates behind the stone the rest will also generate in that area. This ensures a natural growth of everything. But you can get unlucky and have everything behind of the stone as has happened for you. There are no plans on changing this, because in a future update there will be abilites that you can buy for Nature Points like "rally at the stone" or "look for enemies" to deal with these kind of situations. There is one thing that I will change that might help this somewhat: I want to increase the closet distance that two grass plants can spawn next to each other which will force the grass to spread out more, faster.

@loginaut agreed with the UI, this is already on my Priority list and will come with the next update I think. The current best strategy is indeed to just pick one animal and upgrade the hell out of it. I have the follwing change in mind: Every upgrade increases the cost of all other upgrades on the same animal. So you need to choose more carefully what you want to upgrade. The next update is a performance Update. I hope I can find other solutions than limiting the entities, but if that has to be done then so be it.

I have localized the error with the stuck creatures, but my attempted fix did not work. The path finding system has problems with the low poly terrain at certain points. I used a third party animal controller that I had and it seems to try to put the creatures in a climbing state once it thinks the creatures are off the traversable path (which helps some of the animals recover from falling in the river). However for the enemy creatures, they just stop doing anything at all. I think I might write my own animal controller, since I don't need much of the advanced functionality and it is hard to debug third party code.

Actually I think changing the sorting order would not help since the canvas has to be in world space to allow for 3D elements. So the 3D objects actually stick out and are physically in front (Idk maybe there is a trick for this ). I think I will just close the nature tree whenever you open the options.

You are right about the Health bars, as I said in my last reply I am not happy with the current state either. But I don't think giving a minimum width would be a good choice either since it would look like a rabbit with 30HP might have the same health as a deer with 100HP. I was thinking of maybe scaling both sides so that double the area means double HP. This would make each side scale with the square root of the health and the bars would always keep the same shape. Therfore, each sidelenght is not as different as it is now. Maybe I also just don't use linear scaling. So a twice as longe healthbar would still mean more HP, but not double. This however is less intuitive than the current system.

As I said I need to play around with this, maybe get some inspiration from rts titles. It is just hard to depict a healthbar with 30 HP and one with 5000HP in a graphically cohesive way.

Working with render textures is a pain in the butt. I find using them is very performance hungry and not preferable for larger scales. They are good for small things like a portal effect, but not for many UI elements in my experience.

If as you suggested I only use one raw image for the whole UI instead of one for every 3D Object it might be feasible performance wise, but I don't think it is worth the hustle. If I would want to move a button, I would always have to move the UI object first and then try to match the movement with the 3D object in the scene. Right now the 3D objects are children of the respective button, so if I disable the button it automatically disables the 3D object, which I would have to re-code as well. Furthermore the glow effects on the UI do not work in screen space, since it is unaffected by post-processing.

If I wanted to keep both open at the same time I would make two canvases and make sure the option canvas is physically closer to the camera, so that it can hide the nature tree canvas including the 3D objects that are sticking out.

So thank you for the suggestion, but no :laughing: . (I was fighting a lot with render textures in another project as you can probably guess :sweat_smile: )

Mother Shroom had given me one objective: to protect her. I was determined, it was my destiny. Soon Slime creatures startet showing up, but mother shroom gave me the spores to protect her. It got harder and harder, I planted spores only to see the baby shrooms getting destroyed by the slime creatures, it was horendous. Just about when I thought it was over, that I had failed, there was a slimmer of hope. Mother shroom had provided me with a new shroom spore I have never used. It emmited a poisonous cloud, that would hit many slimes at once. This was it, I needed to build an inner circle out of those. And So I started. Suddenly defending was easy again I thought I had built an invincible setup.

But I was wrong: One Slime managed to take down one of the poison cloud shrooms. It was a race now, I had to build more poison shrooms than the slimes cold destroy, all other spores became nothing but decoys to distract the slimes for a short while.

I fought and fought, but in the end they were too many. **I have failed you mother shroom, I am so sorry** :cry:

Really nice job on the Post Jam version, It is not much different but it feels so much better because of how polished it is. Good Job!

The two things I would add next are coin sound effects and pathfinding for the old man :) Then maybe add some new shiny armor for the coins :D

Most things have been said already and I don't want to repeat everything so here are two things I found that were not mentioned:

- Diagonal move speed is faster than straight line. There are some good tutorials online on how to fix this. like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whzomFgjT50 Watch until 9 minutes afterwards he does animations.

- Spamming mouse1 makes fights now way too easy in the post LD version, I liked the lure out and finish the enemies strategy you needed for original version. I would add a cooldown on how often you can click.

@convg actually you can not really abuse this for speedunning. if you move a straight line in a zig-zag pattern you are not actually faster, your speed is higher but also the distance covered is higher which cancels out. (the zig zag just feels faster) Your Speed along the straight line is the same in both cases. You need some code to transfer your diagonal momentum into forward momentum if you want this to be a speedrun strategy. (kinda like bunnyhopping in source engine games like half life)

I would need to see your movent code to know exactly what to do, but I'll try to give you a general rundown:

in your variable declarations do the following:

private float momentum =0;

private float old_momentum =0;

private float momentum_factor= 0.9;

- //this is a value between 0 and 1 that you can change to make the movement feel good. 0 means no change 1 means never loose momentum

you probably have a velocity x and a velocity y variable maybe they are seperate maybe they are in a vector 2.

if they are seperate use

momentum=mathf.sqrt(velocityx^2+velocityy^2)

if they are in a vector2 you can simply use

momentum=velocity.magnitude

Set momentum initially to 0 and do this at the **start** of your update function

At the **end** of your update function set

old_momentum = momentum;

before you update the position do the following:

if (old_momentum > momentum && momentum !=0)

- //the first part is so that it only affects keeping momentum and not building up momentum

velocityx \*= ((1-momentum_factor)+momentum_factor \* old_momentum/momentum)

I really enjoyed the sound effects. The Graphics are simplistic but charming.

quick tip: on itch.io set the Embed options to "click to launch in fullscreen" to make the fullscreen work better for everyone.

tip for everyone in the current verion: if you want to play fullscreen, wait for the game to load then hit the blue arrows and not the transparent white ones that are overlayed.

Overall the game felt quite good. The Use of the Assets was really good and I liked the overall dificulty of this.

The movement mechanics were better than most games, but in a game where the movement is the main aspect you notice small stuff faster. It was a bit slow in my opinion and the wall slides/jumps felt not really good.

Felt verry good to play, like many others I came to like the fast movement Speed. The art was amazing however the music only played every second level and did not loop properly, maybe you can fix that.

Two small things I would change: limit the fire rate and the range of your fireballs because I was just constantly spamming left mouse to kill most enemies before I even saw them :D.

Hmm I think there is a bug in the game. I think you are only supposed to place pieces starting from your own pieces. But I can just select any empty square as a starting piece. This means I can just win on turn 1 by placing a group straight to my opponents base... Other than that cool idea.

Very cool game, I managed to beat it :)

It is a great package, I love how quirky it is. The artstyle on top of the real computer photo, together with the audio is perfect. Much charm, much like :D

The only problem I found is the performance. It tends to have some micro lags (which are very annoying if they let a bullet pass through), that such a game should not have. It happens in the web version and the windows version.

Somehow at first I thought I could only hit enemies from above, which made the game harder but not impossible, and I think I enjoyed at even more with that restriction :D

Maybe enable fullscreen? I always find the "click to launch in fullscreen" option works best on itch.io. That option does not force fullscreen which you might think.

Pretty basic game. The recipie mechanic worked but I did not really find it very rewarding. It was doing the recepies for the sake of the recipies, which I did not enjoy too much. I really would have liked it, if there was like a small reactor building up with every recipe you finish. Also the looping mechanic with the timer felt more thrown on top, rather than atually integrated in the game. However I really enjoyed the graphics and the audio! They were wonderful :)

@remzo I tried for a while, but this is just too random. For a Highscore, basically you need to hope that the other cars crash in the very beginning so you can drive tight laps undisturbed to the end.

I mangaged to get to more 50s and one 54s with two invalid loops.

Also I dont really understand when a loop is counted invalid. Sometimes i clearly stay on the track and it counts as invalid and sometimes I crash like half the yellow things in the middle and it still counts as good

I tried the windows version and it realy is a nice game! good job! creative interpretation of the theme.

I solved most puzzles by just building up lots of momentum. maybe that is a bit too op. I would maybe use some sharper acceleration but capping the top speed of the balls.

I already decreased the first loop from 1000 to 500.

The problem with going even further is that I run out of jokes too fast :D Plus I wanted to give the player some time to really understand the concept before I start spamming him with pop ups. It is always hard to find the right balance for a game jam audience. You seem to have gotten the concept instantly, but that is not true for everyone. Introducing even more would have made the game too confusing for most I think. Although I also think that it would be more fun.

@ghuyajil No cheat you need to get to loop number 6-7 and then have some luck with the multipliers. They can go over 2x in the later loops. If you have a score of maybe 4000 going into loop 6 you only need to find 3-4 good multipliers. In a dev version that was not much different to the current version I scored over 700 000 which is just 3 more good multipliers.

The growth starts mostly linear but it goes exponential rather quickly ;)

I spent way more time than I'd like to admit optimizing the speedrun 0.1s at a time :D

I hit exactly 28.13 3 times before I managed to shave off another .13s. I feel if you use the strategies from my speedrun videos you should be able to make the sub 30 club. Just hit the turn key about 0.5 secs before you actually need to turn.

For me personally the sensitivity was way too high. Generally in shooters there should be a sensitivity setting imo. Also, a fov setting would have been nice.

Other than that the monsters were cute. The theme with the looping room was implemented very well. And the shooting and movement felt very good! Audio was also on point. Oveall well done!

By far the easiest game I played so far this LD. The mechanics were absolutely boring and the voice acting was terrible. It was not at all funny. Overall just a bad game.

Only thing positive was the red lasers. They were super easy to make out and the hitboxes were very clear!

I won, I beat blue (was ahead after 3 Laps and continued to do so)! took a lot of grinding tho. seriously the racing got me hooked more than actually getting out of the loop. Optimizing the corners and jumps until I could finally be faster than blue was amazing! The controls felt realy neat which is why I could optimize the race so well. (Blue still said he was first tho even if I was in front of him :D.)

@peace-of-cake-games I don't think its only trolls. Many people only vote good on theme if it actually ties into a great game in general. Theme is by far your stongest category and I just think not many people would give 2 star overall but then 5 star on theme or simmilar... Also probably many people think you forced the theme way too much. You did not build a game around the theme you just threw the theme on everything. Cool game. I really liked the controls, they felt really good which is already 90% of what you need for a good platformer. The graphics are charming programmer art. And the audio was funny, too. The only thing I have to critizize is the difficulty. It is way too easy for me. After 3000 points and still 100 health I got bored too much and stopped. I could have gone on for ever. It is hard to get a difficulty that is right for everyone. So I would suggest you could put in increasing difficulty or maybe just stop giving healthpacks after 1000 points or something.

I leveled all the way up to level 10 where I often one-shotted enemies with a normal attack. The UI is not very nice looking, but the general stickman art is cool. The inventory system has some bugs.

@chrissx2 yeah I found arghhh difficulty not as hard as medium or hard difficulty, since at that point I started memorizing the patterns. It was just longer. I think my medium and hard runs were much closer than the arghhh one 🤣

I think the only bomb that exploded was the one while I was introducing the game 😂

I usually use the "click to launch in fulscreen" option on itch. That one causes the least issues in my experience.

Someone playing my game on twitch said, "what if you only move with right click" such a genius solution, I wish I came up with that during LD haha. The Story is not actually the trigger for the win screen. But you only need to mine ~0.5s to gather enough to win (I gave the yellow crystal ridiculous values).

How come you tried Genesis 1 now? I was a bit dissapointed after so many people told me they'd give 5 points for humor and it ended with less than 4 points on average. I guess humor is subjective and some people must have found it not funny at all, Imo it is better in theme and humor than "While loops".

I basically inverted the logic for shooting: the bullet travels exactly to where you click and the submarine rotates to a position where the shot would be believable. I am Suprised by that. The rocket launcher is target seeking, maybe you have not noticed that? you don't have to aim at all with the rocket launcher, which makes it the most over-powered. With the rocket launcher you don't even have to stop mining to keep fighting

A selling system would of course throw the balance off since you could get everything faster, so I would need to rebalance the prices at the same time. I had mixed feedback on this. Some people thought it is fair that they get to keep the upgrades some people would have prefered a fixed cost. I'll experiment with this. The problem I see with a fixed cost is that in the late game it would be like peanuts. Maybe this could be scaled with the ships value. But again I think the most frustrating part is that there are no crystals left close to the top, so regrowing crystals would be a quick fix while I can experiment with the rest.

Yes it could run out, but I think this is more something you would actively have to try and archive.

I don't see this as a bad thing necessarily. It is a risk reward situation. The spawnrates increase with depth. This is of course a problem if you are forced to go deep because all the surface crystals are already mined.

**tl;dr I will add regrowing crystals, which should be a quick fix for most of your problems**

I really liked your game. It was a lot of fun and I tried getting a new highscore for quite a while. I love the art and the audio. My biggest critisicm would be the difficulty curve. The game starts out easy, stays easy till ~25k points and then just seems to get very overwhelming very fast. I would increase the spawn rate more slowly after maybe 20k so that you can spend more time at the sweetspot where you can just about keep the enemies in check if you don't mess up, because that is where the game is the most fun.

Also I would have loved a checkpoint system, it got really frustrating to always start from the beginning. And I agree with previous commenters that everything needs a little bit more polish. Next time maybe scale a little bit smaller with the project but actually have it well polished.

That being said the graphics and audio were really good! There would have been a lot of potential for this game!

I got a score of 1700, The strategy I came up with was to build a ring of yellow throw everything else out and then fill it up with blue rods. My runs always die because I accidentaly pick up one of the yellows and everything starts to tumble :(

Nice Concept, Overall it works quite well. Here are a few points of critisism:

1. a little buggy in some places. You can get stuck under ladders etc. Make sure you clip off everything.

2. The shots of the gun landed always to the bottom right of the crossair, starting from the first shot. you can maybe look into getting a better recoil model.

3. Hit Feedback. Make the enemies glow a little when they are hit etc. Like this I was never quite sure if I was hitting them.

Very cool Idea! Nicely Done! I really liked the puzzle aspect. My biggest criticism is the responsiveness of the mouse. Most of the time it takes me two or three clicks until the game reacts. Once the mouse is held down the game works just fine. Only the initial click is troublesome. This is very problematic because it makes certain passages near unbeatable since you need quick mouse movement.

Later when i come home I might come back to try this game on a different system, maybe also others can comment if they have issues or if this is an Isolated problem for me?

Also I had no Audio Available here so I might give an audio score later also.

I found it a bit counterintuitive that the energy drained not by how much distance was driven, but rather how often I clicked. Once I figured that out, beating it was quite easy :)

maybe having the snakes not spawn from the corner you are closest to could be an improvement. it is incredibly frustrating when a snake spawns basically right on top of you.

I can confirm the lags do not come from the 4k monitor but probably from the pathfinding and collision resolve

The art style was absolutely beautiful, I really liked it :) The story was also cool and funny.

One criticism I have is that for me the text speed was much too slow. However, you can't skip to the end of the sentence, because if you hit space it starts the next sentence instead of completing the current one. This would be a small fix that would make the game much more enjoyable for me :)

One speedrunning trick for anyone wanting to beat this score: Sideways acceleration is faster than forward. So use your mouse to turn yourself sideways and accelerate with a or d as often as you can! It is tricky but, once mastered, it makes especially the start much faster

Really cool concept in general. I liked the art. The tutorial was also really good. I had to play it muted so I won't rate audio. However, there needs to be some sort of limit on how many or how often you can place things. Maybe a shop system where you get points for killing monsters and then can spend them on buildings. I just built this undefeatable setup in the first minute which killed most things before they'd ever reach the visible area. Was not really much fun that way.

@velvetlobster I used Stable Diffusion instead of Dall-E or Midjourney. It gives a lot more creative control, making it a lot more predictable. On the downside you have to spend time fiddling with all the different settings every time you want to generate something. But once you have found some good settings for a certain asset you can quickly generate a lot of stuff in similar style.

@velvetlobster that varied a lot. Some assets went rather quick like the platforms for normal type. I first asked text to image to generate platforms. that did not work well then I drew a big brown blob into one of the backgrounds and asked it to generate platforms from that. then it took like 3-4 more iterations of choosing the best output image and it was spitting out one great platform after the other. The Ice platforms were trickier. It did not want to turn a white blob into an ice platform and just kept erasing it. eventually I slapped a glacier from google images onto one of the generated backgrounds and, from that, after a few more iterations it was again spitting out one great platform after the other. Then every asset took like a minute of cleanup on photoshop. In total I would say it took ~ 5-30 minutes (it varied a lot) to get a good setup for a new asset and then it would take 1-2 minutes for each variation of that asset.

I had practiced a lot with stable diffusion the last two weeks before LD started. You really need to get a feel for what all the different settings do.

I also plan on making a blogpost about my process when I find the time :)

@batony-robson Agreed our project was over scoped, however making it 2D would not really helped at all since we used pre-made assets anyway.

But maybe it is a also little bit your frustration talking? Several players now completed the game which means they enjoyed it enough to play the ~ 45 min required to do so. You, on the other hand, made a less complex game with more people and yet, somehow, yours is more broken...

Personally I have learned a lot from this project, which is always my main goal for any game jam. So I don't regret doing this :)

I know :( this was one of the first things I complained about to @yaboihz after the game was done, he was responsible for balancing, but we were tight on time as you can probably imagine. Also Armor is ridiculously OP at the moment, once you reach i think 700 you are invincible.

I will consider all of your feedback for a potential post jam version. Most of it came down to the large (over-)scope of the game, so it was impossible to fix everything.

About the controls, I think the way they came about was the order of operation. The first thing I implemented was the player movement with the cart to the goal, only later I added the combat. And I was quite happy how the movement with the cart worked :)

@cheesepencil resetting the game reset the cycles. I had the cycles for the first 2 levels optimized, after that my runs had too much variance. Btw does the time advance between levels (both for cycles and highscore?) and how about after a death? Important things to know for optimization haha :D

one thing you could fix that would drastically improce speedrunning is that when you hit the new level button for more than one frame it does a flap at the start of the level. that makes it e.g. impossible to clear the first formation on level 2. Maybe make it so it does not register the flap input if it was pressed on level select?

A bit janky, after the tutorial the back button did not work

After completing the tutorial I started the first game and imediately I could not recognize the item on the order with anything on the shelfs. I picked up somthing that I thought could be it, but it was aparently wrong. After I packaged the wrong item. Nothing worked anymore and every time i pressed q a green marker spawned, after a while the whole screen was full with green markers

On my next run I managed to create the package for the first order, but then the package disapeared and I could not deliver it giving me no revenue. The item was cleared from the queue. When doing the second Item the queue, same thing happend again

I liked the Idea of the concept, And this is probably a bunch of fun playing with multiple friends if it works properly, but for me was unfortunately kinda broken :)

I really liked that you included an option to invert the controls, for me they were inverted by default so I had the option to switch them back to normal. However everytime I restarted the level I had to manually switch them again.

I found the easiest way to play was to stay at the station and just shoot the packages. It took me way less than 10s on avarage to deliver a package like this, so I could basically play infinitley.

I stopped at 100 packages haha

Very Cool Idea!

I really liked the Art and Audio. And overall the Game felt really polished.

I have two minor points to critizse:

-the RNG makes it so that the difficulty varies a lot, I feel like with some more constraints on what to generate next to what this could be improved a lot.

-The grabbing feels a bit inconsitent at times. I think it is because if a grab is sucessfull is defined by where the hand is, and the hand has some delay on the movement. So sometimes it feels like i should have grabbed a ledge while in reality the hand was simply not on top. Maybe a solution could be when the mouse is released try to grab. if it fails, let the hand move to the last mouse position for another like .2s or so and try grab again.

But other than that Really great entry. I would say best I have played so far, but that does not mean much since it is the first I am playing this LD lol :D I might come back later to confirm if it is still the best ;D

Another Suggestion: It would be soo cool to have a Speedrun timer on this for replayability. Since you track the time already this would be as simple as displaying the time at the end of level 1 + at the end of level two. Should be super quick to do.

very funny game.

For me (windows build) the controls were very hard. i hat to spam spce like 20 times before the dismount worked and also had to spam the lasso many times before it would register a hit. This made it unfortunately too frustrating for me to complete.

I'll check if the controls are better on web, but other than that (which seems like a bug) the game was fantastic

Increadible graphics and Atmosphere!! I, too, struggled to figure out the controls, after a while I managed to find out how to move the platform up and down and collected some crystals. But at a certain level the platform got stuck and my fps started going down the drain. At some point it was seconds per frame rather than frames per second. I think there is a bug when you catch a boxe back, and lose it again it counts as two pizza boxes lost, because sometimes I find that I lose whit like half the pizza boxes still there, and its usually after I did an impressive "everything flew out and I caught them again" moment. This is such a shame because those are the coolest imo, but they get punished.

Really well made overall. I like the artstyle, and it gives you this, "i feel like i was so close, just one more try" feeling Haha.

making a settings menu for sound and sensitivity etc was on top of the to do list the entire jam i think but I always thought I'll do it later until I ran out of time.

Currently the game is broken in the editor. Trying to do a webgl build corrupted the project. I have some backups from noon last day so I'll try to reinstate everything and do a post jam version with fixes.

Actually there is a bug with some of the upgrades in the jam version. Everything that does not have a base value of 1 does get way smaller upgrades than intended. Those are: bullet speed, fire rate, and movement speed. Maybe I forgot some more. This has been fixed in the post jam.

The game is a Highscore style game. There is no "beating" the game. And as such it is designed in a way that you will loose eventually. With the right upgrades you can go on for a long time though. The best strategies I have found involve the bombs. Luck to spawn more of them, growth to make them grow quicker, explosion power to increase their blast radius. If you get the right power ups you can get very satisfying bomb chain reactions. Balancing is still an issue, you can become very overpowered and the game will become boring. Eventually the spawn rate will catch up and you will loose but it's not a fun experience once you get past a few million points. The post jam is slightly better but still has balancing issues.

The jam version has a bug where the green time spheres and blue point spheres are still collected after you die and get applied as soon as you start the next game. This is also patched in the post jam.

One thing that might not be really well explained in general: The spheres are growing and will divide once they reach twice their initial size. Hence the name "Multiplosphere". So it can also be smart not to take the upgrades, bombs and gold spheres immediately but wait for them to multiply first.

Really really cool game, very well polished!!

Minor point of critique: sometimes the dragging felt a bit off. It did not place the tiles where I wanted it to. I think the point where the pieces are relative to the mouse coursor is pre defined and not the point where it is actually clicked. As long as the game is slow-paced, this is not an issue as the ghost blocks show exactly where the block will be placed. However, once it gets faster, there is no time to watch for the ghost block. At that point intuitevly you just move the mouse to where you want to place the particle. Now if the pickup point is pre-defined and not where the mouse is actually clicked, this feels off. and you don't place the blocks where you actually wanted to place them.

This was especially frustrating on the final level.

Other than that, I really enjoyed it a lot. I had to play with muted audio since I played this at work. This means I wont be rating audio and mood but I probably will do that when I can play this with audio from home :)

The game has a bug. Happend to me twice now, IDK if the first time was exactly at the same spot but it was half way trough level 12 as well

At level 12 35/70 friends, the game stops accepting friend matches, but you still get negative points for switching. After roughly 20 seconds maybe, the game resumes as normal and almost inevatably you loose a live. Right now I had a live to spare at that point but the first time the bug happend my run ended right there.

Would be nice if that could be fixed ;)

I'll try to record it happening if that helps.

Detailed description:

-you reach level 12 35/70

-when a shape hits your summoned friend nothing happens, the shape dissapears, no sound, no points, no live lost.

-shapes keep spawning like normal

-you still loose points for switching

-after maybe 20 seconds game goes back to normal

-I reached that point twice, both times the bug happened

Since the bugfix I'm experiencing quite frequent Lag Spikes.

Nice to see you here on my little game!

I only started working on this game Monday at around noon maybe 13 hours total... Just so I wouldn't loose my 12 LD streak. So there was no time to add more variety.

I wanted to add some reference images and different backgrounds. E.g. bacteria viruses molecules atoms so that one gets a better sense of the current scale, but again no time :(

Yes it always stops at 5.61E-30 fm, I guess that is the smallest value a float in unity can represent, and I have non zero and non negative protection in the code so then it just stops. But I think you have now officially created the tiniest creature in the whole tiny creature game jam. Congrats :medal:

And for sure you can use it for Score chasers :)

I use a 60% Keyboard without arrow or num keys, so the controls were even more akwward than usual maybe ijkl could be added as ab option?.

Like manys others, I was never cutting one item I was never able to cut a second one. If I cut the cucumber first I couldn't cut the tomato and vice versa.

I hope you'll fix these issues soon, because other than that it was a great entry!

Very Nice Game! loved the graphics. In the end i just kept pulling random blocks from the bottom of stacks hoping it would do something. Somehow that worked. Not to different from other match3 games sometimes. So well done I guess!

The art on this game is absolutely stunning, and so is the audio. Together they create a great atmosphere. Inceadible work!

The gameplay is abit buggy and slow. Several times I had to restart because something broke. Can't move under water, suddleny the game thinks I'm swimming while I'm on top of the ship etc. I hope you get a more stable version going. Ping me if you do! Unfortunately I have to rate based on the jam version, but this has great potential!

I played all levels until 1100m and I think i will come back after the jam is over to finish tahe remaining ones. What a game!

Graphics and Atmosphere and Audio were absolute top!

I would have prefered to be able to air strafe just a little, e.g. I died a few times because i wanted to go to a platform essentially just below me, but when I walked off the character kept that speed so i flew past the platform I aimed for. Other than that I have no complaints. Good luck with your ratings!

I feel like the timings were a little off. I had to intentionally try to hit the buttons when it switched to the next block. But it was a bit annoying. Maybe some input latency issues were involved? idk After a while I was able to somewhat adjust but it still felt off so I did not try for higher levels.

@floppynub @braeden @clink About the jump section. You will see that the broken part is at an angle, it is higher on the right. So if you jump close to the right side you won't loose any dwarfs :)

I always put the best rewards on the left after a jump, so you have to jump on the right then carefully manouver back to the left. Risk reward kind of gameplay. One more thing I should have made more obvious :laughing:

Actually the camera is at a fixed position and the level is moving below it :D That significantly simplified coding, but is of course annoying with the walls. I will certainly adress this if I find time to work on a post jam version! Also nothing forces you to keep the dwarfs far away from the camera. You can keep them close, that makes the game much easier. I definetly should have reduced the maximum forward movement.

The game already has the feel of a full game, it is just lacking the scale. But there are different ways to go about this. Endless mode, story mode, progression upgrade system, different environments, online 1v1.

The core gameplay is perfect as it is maybe a little more variety in terms of blocks so that it stays just as good at a larger scale :)

You can just play it safe and collect score, no need to go for any risky points close to the death blocks. Maybe you could introduce some difficulty progression so that ou actually have to go for some of the riskier point pickups early on.

Maybe something like slowly increasing gravity the lower you go so that it gets harder and harder. (You can then somehow counteract that with the upgrades but not fully). But that is just one idea, could go about it in many ways!

btw A few times I got this bug where I get super jump abilities. It always resets when I upgrade jump and gravity the next time. (not sure which one specifically since I tend to upgrade them together)

Very fun game! The artstyle was very charming. I did not quite understand what the goal is. Beat the level? then I can just jump of the side. Highscore? How do I get points, every kill is a point? Previously I Accidentally commented the feedback for the wrong game here. Then I realised you can't delete comments just edit so now after I am edeting the comment to actually have the correct feedback after having played the game :D

The Artstyle was really unique and in general i liked it, i just felt in some sections the very high pixelation without anti aliasing just hurt from looking at because the pixels changed to rapidly when moving the mouse. Especially with the bright glowing jellyfish in the end. I don't really know how to fix this without throwing overboard the incredible artstyle. Maybe more muted colors?

Strongpoint is definetly the mood that this game delivers!

Speed is normalized on the diagonals, but I did not implement acceleration. Instead you immediately move full speed in the direction you point. Which is effectively infinite acceleration. So yeah infinite might be a little too strong :D

Sometimes the penguin kept sliding forever and it seemed like the same move sometimes let me cross a barrier and other times did not.

I think to be even more addictive it misses the kind of insane scaling ala cookie clicker. At some point the progress slows down a lot. I felt like I had seen evetything and the last bit of getting to 1200 felt more like a chore than fun!

Here is a playthrough of the Game. I have not figured out fully myself what the best way is to play the last level.

Right now I get the best times if I play it safe. If I try to go for boosts, I maybe chain 1 or 2 and then get stuck like you. But I think if one gets better at it this can be very satisfying.

It is not hard just hard to learn because it is not some normal control scheme.That's why I put a lot of effort in the tutorial you can re-activate the tutorial in the settings.

Once you have the hang of it it becomes very satisfying :).

Thx for the nice comment. I am not sure how to improve the controls really, if you have any suggestions let me know. It is just not very intuitive to indirectly control the terrain and has a little steep learning curve. But once your brain adapts to it, it becomes easier and even more satisfying :)

Overall I liked it!

The detector is kind of useless, you can find the boxes much easier by looking, also the rendering of the entrance hole in the ceiling was inconsistent Just before the end I stayed close enough that I could always see it, but than when the warning came it was suddenly no longer rendered. I had also seen that before that the hole sometimes just randomly stopped rendering. Very annoying, because of that I could not find the exit

But Overall I like the atmosphere, I collected like 1300$ before that :)

I liked the overall design and mood. I actually liked the controls, gives it more of the vive that you are contolling the device and not playing the player like in other games. But I got lost and did not know what to do sometimes. I think some hints or some more obvious route or something would have been nice.

But the atmosphere and mood this game created was absoulte top notch!

Nice I had a similar inspiration that you have to tune a wave form with frequency and amplitude, but I made it so that you then have a player surf the resulting signal and adjusted the phase so that it will always remain in phase right below the player. Called it signal surfer :) check it out if you like.

Your gameplay is also nice, I played the jam version, beat level 1 and almost made it through level 2

Like the art and the mood very much!

The controls with the sound waves feel a bit clunky. I am not sure how to "exploit the weakness" I was never able to activate yellow crystals, all other colors I managed, but for yellow nothing happened at all so I was only able to dodge monsters, then I got stuk at the lower points and did not manage to go back up :(

Game has a lot of potential! The mechanics are unique and inovative. With a bit more polish and slightly reworked controls this would be increadilble. If you ever release a post jam, feel free to tag me :)

The UI does not scale properly, on WQHD I am not seeing some of the elements, and in the small browser view I dont see others.

I really liked the atmospheric feel! The sonar was also nice, I would have loved if It would also highlight the energy packs for pickup. I explored one whole station and did not find the locator (what is a locator) I also reached another station, but the monster always got me. (Does it ever keep tracking you? I feel like I should have de-aggroed it but it always kept reappearing...)

With some more polishing this could be really great. The strong point is really how audio and graphics come together to create thie mysterious eerie mood!

I like the art and mood. Especialy the vfx.

once I realized there was a map it was quite easy. And there was not much more to it than following the map. I feel with some more work the other mechanics (collecting batteries, lighting up the way) could turn this into something much more engaging. For the limited time, it is a very nice entry!

I really like the concept, I also tried the post jam version but I am still not getting the hang of it.

I think what is missing is some sort of feedback "too early" or "too late" with visual and sound cues. I am trying to hit the butone to the beat but If I miss i am not sure why. Sometimes I manage and sometimes i dont and I don't know how to improve.

Another benifit of this is that it lets the player automatically adjust for things like input lag etc.

If you incorporate more feedback, i would love to come back and try again :)

Wow you really would not think this was done for a game jam! I really liked the art and the animations are so smooth!

Also the platform controls feele very nice and responsive, not like your usual game jam game!

Ah thats too bad, I started participating in Ludum Dare 44 and have not missed one since. Has become somewhat of a bi-yearly ritual.

Coming back was definetly worth it, you guys have delivered a really great game! Are you professional game devs, or just Hobbyists? Because this is on a similar level to what the celeste team delivered on ludum Dare 53!
