LD38 — A Small World

Marco Polo by Nathan 2017-05-01T20:44:52Z

Message "There should be 'MarcoPolo_Data' folder next to the executable" shows up!

The End and the Beginning by Zitao YE 2017-05-01T05:31:57Z

It tries way too hard to be deep, and gameplay is so bad it kills the message even more, it would've been better if during gameplay it was just silent and piano mostly played during the start. The message would've been better too in my opinion if enemies didn't look like tanks and main character wasn't colorful, if they were just boxes I would've liked it more.

Jelly Germ by Ethereal Psyche Games 2017-05-04T22:05:51Z

Pretty nice concept although a little hard to handle from time to time! Music was kinda too intense for the cute nature the game tried to have so I didn't like it that much, gameplay was good but like most people say it needed polishing, graphics were decent although I didn't like so much the tileset. Nice entry! Btw our game is also about something bad inside the human body, just that instead of a little germ it's a virus :D

Star Boi by ItsSaraficed 2017-05-01T21:13:58Z

Game can get repetitive due to no difficulty increase (Spawn number of aliens), sometimes it feels unfair but thanks to the amount of healthpacks it's easy to go on, the thing is that there's no way to keep on going without getting hit, graphics were decent. Nice entry!

'Tis a small world by Snobox Studio 2017-05-01T20:56:35Z

The gameplay was fine, my big issue was the turning speed, it made it incredibly unfair to face enemies unless you knew what was coming, and it was still a hard task. Sprites look nice and fit the enviroment you tried to set. Decent entry!

Floppy McFloppyface by Mars 2017-05-01T21:34:54Z

Considerably funny game, it was really entertaining.

The Inner Lock by EveningWayward 2017-05-01T20:23:31Z

The atmosphere was done greatly, really liked this entry, sound design was on point although annoying at times.

s-mol by unless games 2017-05-01T23:36:05Z

Didn't really understand what to exactly do but somehow I felt a lot of mood in the game, I liked it!

Caterpillar Chomp by Xephrys 2017-05-01T23:41:01Z

Gameplay didn't feel that responsive, art was nice, music was a little annoying.

Sucker Munch by oultrox 2017-05-04T02:01:36Z

Thanks so much everyone for the great comments and feedback! It's heartwarming to see people like our game.

eiland by rubna 2017-05-01T05:17:43Z

Really struggled on understanding what to do after I understood the birds would pick up the food, outstanding mood and art, I'm pretty sure I was dumb enough to not figure it out, I also would like to point out that the gameplay was a little slower than necessary even for the mood it wanted to set. Beautiful but a little boring, I loved it anyway :grinning:

LD44 — Your life is currency

BCoin - currency simulator by wdebowicz 2019-05-01T00:11:58Z

Fun little game, took me a while to dominate the MARKET, the sell/buy mechanic is pretty fast paced.

Death Alley by DuzzOnDrums 2019-04-30T03:30:47Z

There isn't much I can say about this game besides how polished it is! Loved it, I love the crispy visuals and attention to gameplay, not many games do that in the very little amount of time there is.

remnant. by screamrawr 2019-05-04T03:22:05Z

Impressive mood for a game set in surch a short time, very nice presentation and adequate sounds. Hitboxes might be a tad unforgiving and facing again ranged enemies due to exploration becomes tedious over time, this is great.

Deadline by Sn4pi 2019-05-02T01:27:08Z

Really interesting mechanics, very well introduced too, loving the multiple situations you can put the masses in, very intuitive too! Didn't have to read a bunch of instructions to play the game, but rather just start and experiment

Peak Myths by fashionbatman 2019-05-01T21:31:57Z

I can't give you anything but a 5 in humor as your voice acting made it hilarious, it's obviously a neat message on how you waste your life in Battle Royales, it's the circle of competitive gaming, happened with MOBAs too. Great game, even the ugly graphics make it funnier.

BETRAYDED by karreg 2019-05-02T00:14:10Z

Feels really polished, great amount of content for the time given, the idea itself is very original, could've used some work in the fonts used for text, my partner uses Construct 2 so I know this can be quite a pain in the butt haha. Good job, great entry.

Hangry Bunny by gamerjenn 2019-05-03T22:40:50Z

Very simple game, didn't understand you weren't supposed to eat carrots, interesting concept, although a bit too simple, still a complete playable entry.

Blood Chest by PeachTreeOath 2019-05-02T02:32:25Z

Throwing the enemies around feel very pleasant and for the time given this was a pretty complete entry artwise, the sound fits the game although the LAWWW sound of the chest gets annoying pretty quick. Great game.

Soul Builder by Rose 2019-04-30T21:08:02Z

Excellent concept! And very well introduced too, loved how in the end all of the souls were sacrificed, graphics work pretty good with the concept although I didn't like pixels and high res fonts mixed up.

Can't criticize much though! Since this is great work for only one guy. May I ask, what enigne did you use to make this game?

Soul Builder by Rose 2019-05-01T02:56:21Z

@rose Not even a graphics library? Are you a DOM wizard? lol

Sinner by kazuo256 2019-05-01T04:27:31Z

Interesting game but I'll say that the menu art and ingame art look really inconsistent, the enemy variety and gameplay was well introduced but artwork as extremely inconsistente, as powerups had this vectorish art and enemies/player/scenario is pixel art.

Maybe I'm being a bit rough but following your credits a CONSIDERABLE amount of people worked on this little game.

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-04-30T22:11:19Z

Amazing and very complete little game, I have to say though that for a jam game progress feels a bit TOO slow, really annoyed at clicking so much  maybe I'm just not a fan of cookie clickers.

Space Gunner by GerardB 2019-05-03T22:50:43Z

"The game was finished 3 days after the jam deadline. Take that into consideration when rating (or don’t rate).

The project was way too ambitious for a single person that studies and works."

Why so much insecurity? Right when you pull out such a complete game and well polished game by your own (Remember we are all devs commenting here haha), it doesn't look like you worked alone, this is great.

That said the game design itself didn't have anything interesting to showcase besides the use of your character's health as currency (I think most of us did that, I didn't like this theme that much to be honest lol.

Pit King by VeryEvilTomato 2019-04-30T18:20:04Z

@koni Thanks a lot! I'm the artist myself so it's really heartwarming to read such comments like this.

I think most of the flickering was due to problems with Construct 2, but I assure you that we tried to settle up everything as 1:1 as possible with pixel art, as I'm usually the one that makes a deal out of it! lol

The design of the player's shooting was mostly to limit the player from facing the hordes alone, requiring him to build turrets to defend multiple angles, as when you gather too many bones you evolve into a big, strong and slow full skeleton!

Pit King by VeryEvilTomato 2019-05-01T21:20:37Z

@wdebowicz I wish we had a chance to improve the balance of the game, we're currently building a more balanced version for a Kongregate release and boy it is much harder now! But in a very fair way, right now you build 2 rows of cannons and that's it for the game haha

Pit King by VeryEvilTomato 2019-05-03T22:35:27Z

@eduardo-yukio Very fair review! Thanks a lot, we'll be dropping a balanced version on Kongregate and Newgrounds pretty soon, definitely bugs and balancing are the main issue of the game.

@lesconneriesdered Thanks a lot! I think the main fun of the game is watching all these cannon rows obliterate your adversaries haha.

@derek-volker I definitely tried to make the art as consistent as possible, I'm actually using a 16 color palette!

@hypersquid-studios Thanks a lot mate!

Wish I could answer everyone but this system ain't that friendly for developer answers :frowning2:

Pit King by VeryEvilTomato 2019-05-03T23:11:44Z

@gerardb ¡Muchas gracias hermano!

Pit King by VeryEvilTomato 2019-05-10T15:10:18Z

Thanks everyone! We put our best effort into the game.

Protocol: R.W.S. by Derek Volker 2019-04-30T23:33:06Z

Good work! Although I have to say that the wireframe effect became very eyejarring after a while. Decent gameplay although got a bit boring.

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-02T02:26:47Z

Worked pretty good! I love good old zombie shooting games, got to say that the music didn't feel in sync with the game's visual style, the zombies don't have much reaction to getting damaged, it's also a bit too easy! Good entry nonetheless, it's a fully working game, wish there were more guns!

Belinda Bloodmage by PSiv 2019-04-30T23:37:38Z

Cute game! Could've used some royalty free music in my opinion. Gameplay would've benefited from a faster pace in general.

Graphics are pretty basic but, that's what gamejams are about huh? The moan like sound effect is a bit awkward I have to say.

Hot Slots: All In by trozen 2019-05-02T00:24:00Z

Really nice entry, art could've been a bit more interesting cartoon wise, REALLY well polished gameplay I was actually having quite some fun! I like that you can skip the spinning but I wish I could retry instantly instead of closing and opening the slot machine, you guys got a good score from me, this is awesome.

Sheep It by anstabo 2019-05-02T00:02:13Z

Awesome cool little game, very relaxing and easy on the nerves, can't say much else, it's all very nice and polished.

Social Livestock by Cikyt 2019-05-01T21:40:49Z

Props on the graphics department this is a really pretty game, scored that very highly, nonetheless game design wise it's way too simple in concept, it's just a normal endless runner. Truth is, game's still functional so great job on finishing the prototype!

Oh my blood! by hechi 2019-05-02T19:43:21Z

Pretty nice and polished entry! Very low resolution too, would've benefited from pixel perfection, the visual effects don't blend bad though, I liked the little storyline you put in the game, not many jam games put effort into giving the game soem writting, very cool and polished entry!

Demon Hunter Sol by Hoodstrats 2019-05-01T03:02:19Z

I like how you tried to put great work on high resolution animation, and there's definitely a noticeable effort on good keyframe placement. That aside the gameplay felt really clunky, and the sound was pretty dull in general. I couldn't land a sword slash without getting hit once.

Bring Home the Bacon by EatAtJoes 2019-05-02T02:18:47Z

It's a pretty interesting idea but stock exchange games aren't really my thing, there's some disconnection inbetween some sound effects.

Altar by Alexascher 2019-05-01T22:15:28Z

Very polished for a jam game! Loved the different amount of enemies introduced in the game, mechanics worked pretty well, my biggest problem was that I didn't understand where to get more arrows, as I ran out of them really quickly.

Swords and Kreatures by Ausstein 2019-05-01T23:45:16Z

Pretty interesting game, not so good at card games, liking the level of complexity in the limited amount of time, props!

A Cup's Life by Anderssonkev 2019-04-30T18:59:28Z

Awesomely made puzzle! Every aspect of the game is really well polished. The shadows in some of the table objects look a bit weird but the game overall looks and feels fantastic.

Gotta say I got a bit confused on how to beat the candle level as I'd run out of drops in the last move!

Escape from Hell by Becher 2019-04-30T23:47:04Z

Loved the concept, sound was a big let off, really original idea, reminds me of that South Park episode where the boys farmed low level monsters to finally beat the big guy.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-05-05T01:49:58Z

Damn! This game was really nice, took me a bit to understand but just a bit, so I think it's good, the art is really nice, only thing I'd criticize is that I didn't enjoy the mouse being locked on and that it was too easy (This due to the simple enemy AI, it's a jam so congrats nonetheless!).

63 Little Pieces by SamuelSousa 2018-05-05T01:27:41Z

Narrative gives a really good touch, gameplay feels good and it'd be something I'd gladly play in my phone during free time. I really enjoyed the small game juice elements you added, like screenshake and such, but I have to admit that the lack of sound really ruined the mood considerably!

Back in TIME by Erunno 2018-04-27T12:53:44Z

Pretty simple well working Tower defense game. It's really easy though! Once you get a few DK's in the battlefield you'll hardly lose. Congratulatiaons on your first game! I won't demand much considering that but I have to say that besides the aesthethics this is hardly a genre match-up, not trying to put you down or anything.

Dungeon Racers by ZargarTheBarbar 2018-05-02T02:07:55Z

Thanks everyone! Opted out of the audio category.

Proelium. by Markram 2018-04-27T13:03:38Z

Pretty cool entry, the low movement speed starts getting a little annoying, the jokes of the Immortal Evil are a bit bad lol, but overall really cool, also I can quite understand why there's little artwork from the main content, these sprites are detailed as hell!

Crane Command by Hyohane 2018-05-02T02:14:49Z

Really good concept, a little hard to understand at first, but when you get into it it's very interesting!

Last Stand. [Web Play] by Darkwing00Duck 2018-05-02T02:21:17Z

Really neat idea! And a pretty original one too, like most games in this LD this year, lots of multitasking to get the job done here!
