Whoa. A isometric city building puzzle is not what you see everyday.
Nice graphics and sounds, tricky gameplay that makes you stuck in no time if you going build wild without thinking.
Excellent job!

Whoa. A isometric city building puzzle is not what you see everyday.
Nice graphics and sounds, tricky gameplay that makes you stuck in no time if you going build wild without thinking.
Excellent job!
Damn Johnny little brother tearing up the space! The graphics design are well done and stick to the game premisse, just as the sounds, which are hilarious. I think the movement of the ship deserves a little polishing in order to make it more precise, but it dont compromises the game. Good job!
Really implementation of the theme. I saw lots of file storage problems in other games but this one is really clever and has a nice humor within with the stapler assistant. Cool stuff!
Very beautiful and polished sprites, a deep and sad story and a neat mechanic for movement up and down. However, i find the game too fast to me. Good job!
Nice game. The concept of having to lose equipment in order to save more refugees is interesting and adds a mechanic that leaves for the player balance its own game. The concept fits the theme very well. Good job!
Really well done. Liked the strategy mechanics as well the graphics and sounds. Shoud have been difficult doing the AI in this small time frame and i think it was well done.
+1 for mading it in java.
Was able to make 309 points out of it. The concept and the gameplay made it very fun to play, but the graphics and sounds need polishing. Good job!
It missed an option to skip the intro for those who want to go straight for the game. Also, you could host the HTML5 version in itch.io or newgrounds instead of a package in mega.
@lfreinoso sorry, i really didnt see that
Im conviced that the indian dude caused more harm to the forest by crafting the arrows than the tractors. Serious, the guy is a arrow machinegun. Do you know how many arrows it would take to make a tractor explode? EXPLODE?
The game itself its a neat entry with good graphics, simple and easy to understand mechanics. Good job.
It's a very interesting concept given you dont control the main character but still perform a important role, as the warrior only seems to know how to bash the enemies, break the weapons and demand a new one.
However i found odd that you guys did the art of the game and opted out of graphics ratings. Is there a reason for that?
Anyway, nice job.
It was very innovative and surprisingly not boring for a (mostly) text based game. The concept of taking a k7 out of the person head made me laugh.
That was some cool physics out there. Even with the controls being weird at first they dont feel clunky, it was really well implemented.
The concept is very interesting, but i think it needs some polishing in the implementation, not just as the lack of graphics and sound (which would improved greatly a mostly text-based game) but also de interface and the trigger with the other people. Sometimes it works when im around them, sometimes it doesnt.
Very nice to play, with smooth controls, nice graphics and pleasing sound.
Also, liked the warning you putted in the beggining. It could really be useful for someone with epilepsy.
Excellent work!
Very good job, smooth and challenging gameplay. Could use a soundtrack to be better though.
Really incredible entry.
The pixelart are awesome. All the little details and work are impressive. The sound complements the atmosphere as well. The mechanics of the game work like a charm. No bugs, lag or anything that compromise the experience except my inability to play!
Really amazing job!
Heh, this is a hard one.
Only managed to go through the first puzzle and stumbled on the second several times until i give up. The concept fits not only the theme running out of space but also running out of time, as the solar flare advances destroying everything in its way. Including you.
The graphics are simple but nice. Its simplicity embraces the theme of the game as well. However, i feel that some king of matching song could improve the game experience, increasing the solar flare threat and the urgency of movement. The in-game sounds act just like the graphics. Simple but effective.
I like it.
I needed to restart the game several times as i got stuck in the trees for getting a little close to them, seems like the collision box is bugged. Also, you walk over the trees. Then i started to "dodge" them and reached the limit fence but did not find any keys. I guess it needed something to indicate in what direction they were or something to indicate if they are close or far.
Oh boy, that was fun.
The app names and the references on other ludum dare games was a nice twist.
Good job!
Nice idea.
Was able to reach wave 10 from the 1st, and was really surprised of how well the mechanics of grabbing the cubes and dropping them in the shredder work well, very smoothly. I found games where similar process were clunky, which is not your case.
The simple graphics and sounds worked well for the game, providing a clean view and gameplay.
Great job!
Really nice game. Clever mechanics, yet simple to understand and use. Nicely done graphics (cool use of 2D characters in a 3D environment) and astonishing soundtrack. A very solid entry, congrats guys!
Very nostalgic art out there, even the loading screen. The sounds match the mood and the game is quite challenging (for me at least).
Liked the entry very much and had a good time playing it.
I liked it, fun and simple to understand but soon the zombies overwhelmed me (i guess im not a good player). The keys 1-4 didn't worked to me (using Firefox) but it didn't degrade the game experience.
Fun graphics and mechanics in this clicking nightmare! The mechanics are pretty simple to understand, yet it quickly became a click challenge as the shadows come closer at a desperate rhythm. Had a really good time playing it.
I could not made any strategy beside spamming corns and ending up with huge debts or tried corn once and bakrupt faster. Well, im not a good strategist anyway. I liked the concept and the nice retro graphics, just as well the music, which fits the theme and the atmosphere of the game as well. The game theme is kinda depressing, especially when you see that kind of thing in the news and it bring up the feeling of - What we are doing to this world? -.
Its has become a very common sight of concrete buildings taking the place of fields at a faster rate each day that passes, and is exactly what i saw in the game, a countdown to the emminent concrete jungle takeover.
However, the feeling aside, the game is a pleasant experience of trying to exist while the end is comming and you can see it.
It took me a while to figure out what i was doing wrong until i noticed that i had to save the program in order for the alterations i made became valid. After that it was easier to go on try and error until i could solve the puzzles. The graphics are on point and the sound as well, just lacking some soundtrack to improve the game experience. I guess the only downside is the interface that took a while to get used, but since the time is limited it is a minor problem, if it even is a problem. Nicely done!
Fun graphics and sounds. Didnt expect a 2.5 entry, was quite refreshing to see it.
Was able to make 2600 points on it before the stack got too high.
Liked the game, its was well done.
It has a concept simple to understand and to play, but the sounds are a bit annoying after some time playing, except for the voice saying victory and lose which were funny. Although the graphics being simple i didn't found them bad, they represent a good atmosphere for this kind of puzzle game.
The backstory is quite interesting, and while the interface is simple and the mechanics easy to understand, it quickly became a hard game. Although the game itself became quite repetitive, the music and sounds are nice.
That was a fine interpretation of the theme and a nicely done game.
The mechanics are easy to understand, yet they represent a challenge in no time. As well, the graphics and the sounds improve the game experience as they seem fit for the task.
Good job!
The game has nice graphics but it lacks an explanation of what to do. I have drowned about five times until i figure it out that i have to shot the water to create temporary platforms. Other than that i keep on shooting the bird but nothing happened and if i touch it i would die.
Besides this, as i tried the post-jam version, the jump problem seems to be corrected. Good job.
A think the graphics required a little more polishing, but the controls work great. Im not sure how the game fits the theme though, but as i didnt find any bugs during the gameplay i had fun playing it.
Whoa. The graphics are simple but so effective. Also the change from 2d into 3d and then back brings some innovative gameplay experience. The soundtrack contributes as well to create the environment for the game.
Excellent job.
I really liked the game. The graphics and the sounds are very pleasant, the boat has a very good movement mechanic and the game fits the theme nicely as well. I guess the only element that was absent and would improve the game is a soundtrack.
It is a solid entry for the jam, congrats!
That was a very nice entry, with excellent graphics and an innovative mechanic. I find the controls a bit hard to control but i guess is part of the game, as it made the box start moving very slowly and suddenly very fast making it fell off the shelf easily.
It was a different entry considering all the other entries i played in this jam. The controls work seamless even considering the fact that i didnt understand how exactly the game works in the first time i played. Its actually quite easy when you understand what you are supposed to do. Also, found interesting that you made avaiable several weapons, increasing the game possibilities and experience. While the graphics are neat, i find that them and the sound (REVERSE CYMBAL! GO!) needed a little polishing in order to enhance the game. Considering everything said, its a nice entry.
The music and the graphics are nice, but it took me a while to figure out exactly how to use the controls as the other robots keep shooting me down. Once i could understand more or less what do do i could go on with the train for about 360 points.
Beautiful graphics and music. Really. Overdone.
Also excellent voice over in the tutorial, i didnt see that in any other games.
The game works very well, with controls responding nicely. Simple mechanics but very fun to play.
Excellent job!
Whoa. Incredible graphics and outstanding music. And also provide a fluid gameplay with a ingenious mechanic.
The game is a very pleasant experience, absolutely well done.
The game mechanic is quite clever, but i found it too hard and stuck in level 3. I guess i am just a terrible player of puzzle games. The graphics and sounds are ok, but i think they deserve some polishing in order to make the game more attractive.
Good interpretation of the theme and mechanic implementation though.
Nice entry with well done interpretation of the theme.
The graphics, sound and soundtrack are awesome. Love how simple yet effective the graphics are, with a nostalgic feel on them. The soundtrack complements the feeling of the graphics as well.
I found the controls to stuck a little when im trying to move, but it dont really mess with the game experience.
Good job!
@connell omg, same here, i didnt noticed it was turnbased!
An unique mechanic and clever interpretation of the theme. The gameplay imeplementation is competent but i think the graphics deserved more time spent on, in order to improve the game experience and match the amazing soundtrack.
Excellent job!
The voxel approach for the graphics was a good decision and the music somehow matches the atmosphere. It turns out to be a pleasant experience for the gameplay this kind of look, at least in my opinion.
I liked the mechanics of the game, even though i found it a bit too hard. Well, im not a good player at all, so i guess in this aspect my opinion is biased. However the functionalities didnt show any bugs or clunkyness, so its not a negative point.
Well done!
Nice game mechanics. Easy to understand and play. The clean graphics and smooth soundtrack improves the experience as well.
Shoutout for making a HTML5 version! Easy up the game setup for the player nicely.
Excellent job.
@alexey-akulovich It gets faster as you increase speed ingame. You managed to finish it?
Thanks @moczan !
@alexey-akulovich , do you know if i can reupload to modify the speed increase?
According to the rules i can make some small changes after submit it, so i made a small update in order to provide a better game. If you guys @alexey-akulovich, @sthor726 and @moczan could check it again, i really appreciate your feedback. Anyway, thanks for the reviews!
hey @bentekiller , i have originally planed to have drawn screens for failure and success (resembly in a way what you described), and 4 panels for story, but i wasnt able to finish them within the time frame for the compo. Thanks you for the review!
@phillserrazina @esmouc At first i though of adding a freemode with score in which the game wont end until you die and then it would show the player the score. I decided to develop first the story mode and ended up with no time for adding it as well. Thanks for the reviews!
hey @alex-adedge , that was a lot of effort, good to hear it pays out!
@dumivid @antoined73 thanks for the feedback! Ill try to improve these aspects in the future.
Hey @suchista @shp @ephoria thank you very much for the reviews! I really appreciate it!
Hey @leetchi @andrey-ugolnik @chipolux @awix @bela-bohlender @chaosthelegend @aplite @acuriosity @dubgron @schizoid2k @mark-usmiani @blinkenlights @arron-fowler @t8kk @brallex @void-productions @draeskai thank you very much for playing my game and posting a review here. I played and rated the game of everyone that posted here.
I am very happy with the feedback given (which i didnt expect) and am currently working on a post-ludum dare version, improving current features and adding new ones. Be sure to check it out here later if you liked this game and want to play a more polished version of it.
@remco really glad that you took your time to make and in-depth analysis. The parallax are separate layers but yeah, sometimes they move the same speed as the asteroids, making in fact they seem like the same. I am working on it with new parallax backgrounds and asteroids.
I didnt took much time to appropriate mix the sound, which ill redo as well, so its currently kinda unbalanced.
About the speedup, when it happens it made you invulnerable through its duration. I think ill improve it somehow in order to it not look like a nuisance, but i dont know exactly how.
As for Dr. Kumari s name, it has a bit of story behinds it. India represents almost 18% of world population, just behind China, and i though that a random human would probably be someone from one of that two countries. Then i look for common Indian surnames, and while Singh is the most common (meaning lion and adopted as a name for warriors), Kumar (2nd most common) and Kumari (8th most common and a variation of Kumar) are a more generic title meaning boy or son. With that in mind, Dr. Kumari is supposed to be a common man, meaning it could be anyone.
Finally, just as @holdmeimscared noticed, english is not my first language. Sorry for the grammar errors and typos. Ill ask someone with a better knowledge about to check the new version for this kind of mistake before releasing it.
Thank you folks for the time!
This is a really nice entry.
Liked the simple yet effective graphics and sounds, which worked very well for the experience the game provides. Also, the mechanics are easy to understand, making the game very accessible.
Got stuck under a lot of files and then the game ends in a blue screen. Genius. I laughted hard at that.
I didnt understand exactly what i am supposed to do and the controls are a bit too sensitive, but they work well the graphics are neat.
I NEED A VACATION! Oh boy i really dig top down shooters. Nice graphics, nice sounds, a claustrophobic atmosphere, lots of enemies and even more bullets. Couldnt complete a single level but i really had fun playing it!
10/10 would play again.
Liked the graphics and the simple sounds. The mechanic was easy to understand and worked very well. Reading the description i though that collision would be a problem but i found no bugs in this aspect, the gameplay is very fluid. Cool to have a global leaderboard. Congrats!
The game has an interesting mechanic, with an easy to understand concept and functional gameplay. I played it without reading any insctrutions and the objectives and way to play became clear right in the first scenario. The graphics are a show apart, with very well done models making a beautiful scenario. The sound is effective, but the music while nice, its too short. The repeatition of it made it a little boring over time. Overall, its a a fun and well done entry. Excellent job!
The graphics are very neat, but the gameplay is kinda clunky. I was only able to kill the graybeast while being slaughtered by the others. I guess it required a refinement in the controls in order to they become more precise and match the graphics level. The sounds were also nice.
LET ME RUN OUT OF SPACE BECAUSE WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF SPACE! Ha, laughted at the concept, very funny indeed. The controls are odd but not clunky, working very well, and so is the game. The graphics and the soundtrack are nice as well. Very interesting entry, congrats!
Really liked the concept and the game works like a charm. In my opinion the graphics could be improved and the game lacked a soundtrack, however it was a nice experience even without these elements.
I found the controls a little confusing and didnt really understood what i am supposed to do, but the concept and the trippin kaleidoscope were neatly implemented.
As others commented, i found the controls very hard to use, especially in the doorways, in which i was stuck most of the time. If the doorways were a big larger maybe there wouldnt be such a nuisance. However the idea was nice and the graphics are very neat.
Beautiful and claustrophobic, with a simple yet neat mechanic. Love it.
Hey, thats the second entry i saw that took the same approach as me with a space runner, but every one is different! I find the controls a bit confusing but liked the idea of how you teach the player how to use them. After a little practice i could manage the ship, at least to go where i wanted it to go. The graphics have an interesting style, different form what i am used to see, which i liked. It really laked sfx and a soundtrack, which i personally think would improve the game experience, but even without that it was a nice game.
Nice entry for the compo. The controls work really smooth as well the music and the graphics fits the claustrophobic theme. I wasnt able to beat the level, but that is due to my poor ability. However i managed to get a little better after practicate a little. Good job!
Im really bad at this kind of puzzle. That being said, its a clever one. Simple to understand and play, really quick to became too difficult to me. However its a fun game.
We had similar ideas! But you did a better job! The graphics and sounds are very pleasing and the difficulty is on point. Also, the movement and collision seems nice as well. Good job!
Now thats a fine game for a compo. Variety of weapons, enemies, innovative mechanic. Congrats!
Whoa, thanks for doing this game. The description sold me on the crt-robot and sound effects are from my microwave, but i didn't have any idea of how nice the game would be. Good simple yet effective graphics, very well implemented movement and collision with no bugs, OUTSTANDING soundtrack and even a nice message for what the crt-robot have lost. Congrats!
The enemies should have a limit on their range and longer reaction time. Caught me getting shot from enemies i didn't even see most of the time. However the graphics are neat.
Very nice game, fitting the theme well. I missed somekind of retro soundtrack to fit the style, but the sounds were a nice catch.
The concept is nice, however i managed to reach 200 points without losing any hearts just by hammering W. The soundwork in the game is very interesting and fits the theme as well, but i found the graphics a little to simple. Maybe if the game went in the direction of some kind of beat em up in a raft it would be more interesting. However, i understand that with the time limitation of the jam, too many features may result in not being able to deliver the game in time.
Interesting mechanic of making the penguins react to the cursor for movement instead of a direct control, and props for not making it clunky. The nice gameplay almost ofuscate the pretty graphics and soundtrack. Oddly, what is supposed to be a stressful task of trying to keep them alive, which becemos progressively harder, turns to be a relaxing activity, due to the clean graphics and smooth music.
OMG, had so much fun playing this. The spoken effects were really neat and on point, like some voice out of the head of the character and the background music adds up as well. Simple and on point.
Also, as you @acuriosity said before, thanks for the HTML5!
Just as a tip, you guys should really putted the game in a more friendly server like github, dropbox, google drive, itch.io or mega. A HTML5 version as well attracts many more players.
That said the game has in interesting mechanic, but i couldnt figure out how to go beyond the huge straight part. The lack of visibility of what is beyond made me impossible to guess what i had to do. However, the controls work pretty smoothly, the acceleration, jumping and going forward and back are nice.
Very detailed yet with a simple mechanic, making it easy to understand and play.
I particulary like the song played in the highscores table.
Got 191/Wave 5, guess im not very good. I liked the mechanics, are innovative, comprehensive and neatly responsible. The graphics while simple are effective and the sounds as nostalgic as it gets. Good job!
The graphics in the game are pretty neat and while the controls are easy to understand i find them quite clunky, not being able to movement the way i wanted. The theme fits well and i see myself in the role of the people waiting annoyed in line. I dont know if postal workers are this clumsy like it is portraited in the game, but if that is the case it is probably why my packages take so long to arrive.
Thats was a different kind of entry. The graphics are well done and i dont really find the sounds bad for a game made in 48h, it just laked some music in fact. Also, the controls work very smoothly. Good job!
I tried but i didnt understand the game. Sorry.
Was stuck in level 3, but probably due to my ignorance.
I though on doing something like lemmings (the premise shows up immediately when i saw the theme), but well, not my thing, good that you done it and it was well done. The mechanics work nice and the graphics are ok. My only complain is the lack of sounds. It could really set the right mood in the game.
I can only imagine the pain of coding all this collisions and physics. Nice job.
That was really impressive. 3D, with nice and smooth controls, intuitive puzzles, atmospheric music and singing, it really blew my mind.
The intro scene was something beyond anything i saw in this jam. Outstanding work. As for the game, it is nice as well. The controls respond nicely, the graphics are neat and the level design is interesting, not crazy complicated puzzles but they arent dumb.
For the negative part, i tried but became stuck in the elevator bridge part right before the gate with four keys. When i grab Snowball in the platform and put it in the bridge it phases through the bridge and reappears in the ground below. I though the damn goat walk off the bridge, but trying a couple of times i had the the same effect. Is this a bug or there is another way to put the damn goat in the bridge in order to proceed?
Also, tired of Snowball shenanigans.
The controls respond nicely and the pixel art is amazing. I find a bit complicated to locate the altar sometimes, and the rewards could have a hint text indicating what they would upgrade, sometimes the icon was not enought for me. Also, a click and hold shoot would be really helpful.
These aspects, however, doesnt compromise the game, and the experience still really fine.
Good job.
Ok, so got in the TOP 10 with 24 heads. For now at least.
I liked the core concept and mechanics, as the controls are easy to understand and use. As @acaral already said, it would work well on a smartphone i guess. I dont found the controls kinda of clunky as i saw some comments, i guess their difficulty and lack of precision is part of the game.
However, i think the graphics could have a bit more polished and the game overall have a little more content. I know the timeframe is absurdly narrow, but i also think it is possible. Also, the music is really nice. Really catchy.
Nice entry.
Nice entry and creative take on the theme. Puzzles arent really my thing, but the game was nicely done, with good graphics and interesting mechanic. Props for making it alone, in 48 hours and contain lots of challenges. It just lacked some background music. Good job.
Props for making such a game in 48 hours. I can only imagine what you have been through.
The graphics are simple but nicely done, and i expected way less options and gameplay mechanics that it offers, which was a good surprise. Its mechanics make the sacrifice theme evident, and the audio completes the atmosphere.
Great job. Congrats!
Heh, won me at the dispense cheese control. The graphics and sounds are really pleasant, but i find the game a little hard, couldnt go past the 3rd level. The theme is on point, as the game makes you really feel the sacrifices. It is a nice entry, good job.
I usually dont like turn based games due to their complexity and sometimes difficult to comprehend the mechanics, but you manage to make one with two buttons. TWO BUTTONS. That are simple to understand. Outstanding. While i think the graphics deserved a bit more attention, they dont compromise the game experience, as the controls and core are flawless. The narration also adds a layer of quality to the game as well. Nice job.
I knew something like this would pop when i saw the theme and the implementation was nice.
The graphics are on point, quality pixelart, however i found the sounds a little too exagerated. Nothing that affect the gameplay however, it just startled me the first time i killed a priest and when i died.
I liked the level-design, making use of the "pac-man style" maps, required for the strategy against the flying hats. Just like @0x01f0 already said, the hold to double jump is sometimes a drawback, maybe a double tap would be better.
That said, it was a very fun game to play.
Considering the time spent to develop the game it is impressive, but the collision bouncing bug makes it almost unplayable.
However, it is really interesting to note the effort put on the mechanics, graphics and audio. The simple and sad melody sets the mood as the graphics complement it in a nice way.
Like many, you had the idea of losing parts of the body as to fit the sacrifice mechanic, and i though of doing something like that but though it would be way too complicated to implement. Good to see that you went through this way and it resulted in not only a nice concept but also a nice entry.
Congrats!
It really fits the jam theme, not being possible to not make sacrifices at all. I ended up not treating anybody with a reasonable recovery rate and taking it like 'Nothing personal - it's just business', so judge me. The graphics and sound fits the theme as well, as they make you feel this sad atmosphere. Good job guys!
The art and music are astonishing, absolutely well done. It is sad that the double jump mechanic is a little clunky, sometimes working, sometimes not, which was frustrating. That said, i likes the concept and the hints in how to proceed like a dialogue, makes the game flow feel better. Good job!
Score = 28.
Never though i was going to play a game about breeding bugs, that is definitely an original idea. Though it lacks polishing on graphics, some more intrincated mechanics and audio, its simplistic view and straightfoward gameplay makes it a pleasant experience.
Good job.
Really good game, with an interesting mechanic and premise.
The graphics and controls are really nice, but i found the music special. Really well done.
I think the only thing that could be improved was a message when Santa is full, like a little text balloon "IM FULL!". It would improve gameplay a bit.
Really nice work on this entry!
I think it really lacks sounds. It killed the mood. The talking could be just random mumbling and would be alright. The graphics, in other way, are very nice. Also, innovative. Congrats.
I tried but i literally didnt understand nothing at all. Not only the runes but also what i was supposed to do and what was going on. By yours description it seems like figuring out what is to do is part of the game, but honestly that is not my thing.
Also, i find it VERY laggy in Firefox. In Chrome it runs smoothly
Really liked the aesthetics, it gaves your game a very distinct look. Also the game mechanics is easy to understand and effective, providing a decent puzzle side to the game.
While i enjoyed playing it, when i ended it i got that "... already?" feeling, wishing there is more to come. I know the timeframe doesnt really help in this aspect, but is the feeling i got.
The only flaw i can appoint is the lack of music and sounds, which, if made just like the graphics, could turn your game into a really unique experience.
Good job!
Very nice and very difficult. The graphics are lovely and the mechanics are amazing. Master them however is complicated, but not impossible. I found the almost lack of sound the flaw of the game, the right music would really set the mood for the game and make it more enjoyable. In the other way, the controls very calibrated, making me miss the attacks and timing by my incompetence and not by a game clunkyness. Excellent work, congrats!
It kicked in when "Captain, we can throw a passenger out for fun.". My sides!
Nice entry!
I think it only lacked a UI to tell you how close to death you are and how far from beating it you was when you are dead. It wouldnt made me beat the game because i am a terrible player, but would improve it a lot.
I dont know if is because of the title, but the graphics and mechanics reminded me of Journey of the Prairie King, a minigame from Stardew Valley. Did you based something in your game from that damned thing?
Other than that, it was a nice entry with an interesting twist.
The concept is interesting, however i couldnt manage to get over with the first room. Maybe if it scales up with a single enemy, and than keeps adding others it would be easier. Also, in the tutorial the enemy sight is shown, however in the game they are not, so we cant possibly know where they can see or not in order to not leaves bodies behind.
I tried to figure out, keep playing for about five minutes but didnt understand what i was supposed to do. I kept dragging them from one field and another and eventually grinding them all. Only when i saw the comment section here that @adroitconceptions 'explained' i could actually play it understanding what i was supposed to be done.
I guess a tutorial or at least a paragraph with instructions would really help. The graphics and sounds, although simple are effective in this kind of game, maybe a way to hide its dark nature.
That was a very different and interesting entry. The number of possibilities and key-mechanics in the game make the game have a high replay value.
Nice work on this kind of effort in order to provide not only different experiences for different playthroughs, but also the graphics variety. I am sure that was a lot work that _sacrificed_ many hours of work.
Outstanding job guys!
I found the attack a little clunky, but the game itself runs smoothly. The UI needed a little more polishing to fit the nice graphics and audio, however it doesnt compromise the experience.
@frostbyte4k about a minute, after dying twice, then i could survive longer in the third and fourth gameplay. You really explained well saying to hold the left mouse button, but i guess as i am used to actions being triggered by just pressing the button i felt a little lost.
Ha, nice one! I recognize the sound of knife sharpening that i tried to use in my game but ended up not using, nice to know that i wasnt the only one of thinking this way in order to obtain this sound. The game fits the theme, and i guess it would be ever better to play in mobile. The graphics are simple, but functional for its purpose and i really liked the audio work. Nice!
Clever puzzle and mechanics. At the first stage i was thinking, "ok, but what is it about sacrifices" and i got to the second level and "OOOH". I really enjoyed it.
The graphics and controls are simple, and i really liked the way the character is portrayed, making you question which one is real, specially when the original is killed and the double continues. Is the clone a original one, is the same as the first, it is a unique being? This questioning really brings up the sacrifices theme. I dont know if it intentional, but is interesting.
Really good job. Congrats!
Okay, first of all, im disappointed for not a opportunity wasted of implementing multitrack-drifting
DenshaDeD_ch01p16-17.png
That said, amazing graphics and sounds, nice and easy to understand gameplay and very cool to see classic moral dilemmas in a game.
Im impressed that you implemented a full operational game with this quality in the compo timeframe. Outstanding job!
I like the game. Early in the first stage i found that the fire spell works better in my gameplay style, so it was the obvious one to keep during the gameplay, which proved a right choice as i could beat in one playthrough, even being a terrible player. The graphics and sounds are very good as well and the gameplay smooth. Nice job.
I lost at the agent died of shame.
The mechanics are interesting, but i think the graphics could be more polished, but i guess as if the focus are the humour they kinda fit.
The voice acting also ... DAB! My sides.
Good job.
The only flaw is that it is too short, but in the timeframe avaiable is perfectly understandable. Loved the limbo-like graphics, clever gameplay and level-design, easy to understand and moody sounds. Perfect. Outstanding job!
Now thats something unique and that probably turn out to be a lot of work. Im not really into text based games, but i went through it all and man, that was a lot of crazy situations. Props for the creativity for them and time thinking of many possibilities. Goob job.
Interesting concept and funny to hear the "REFUNERATE", however i couldnt think in a strategy as everything i tried seems to lead to bankruptcy. Also kind of sad to remember that this kind of practice is ongoing for ages in graveyards.
Now that was really worth to play. Nice story, graphics, mechanics, everything. The touch of the toll of the sacrifices was a blast.
It is interesting that the sacrifices are not only a story or gameplay feature, but both. Also, i really liked the sprites, made the game have a retro charm. I think the cutscenes could use the same graphic style, but both were very well done so i dont really have nothing to complain about.
I only tried the mouse aiming version and could beat the game dying only once. I dont think it would be possible without this mechanic, it really helps.
Congratulations!
ld43.png
Did my best but this is all i got. Poor Billy was shot in the head like 4 times and kept doing stuff. While i liked the concept and execution, and so the easy to understand mechanics, i found that soon the questions became repetitive. Other than that, the graphics are neat and the sound matches it in a pleasant way. Good job!
Well, nice and simple, i liked it. My only complain is that it isnt a clear lose/win scenario, so it could use a point system. Also, the pixelart is really nice, makes you able to identify the citizens after not even a minute playing, so you can play faster.
Good job!
I played solo and did not understand exactly what was supposed to be done, even reading the instructions, so i dont really got the feeling of the game.
However, the aesthetics were really nice and the audio as well, so it was a pleasant experience for my eyes and ears even if couldnt understand what was going on.
I guess ill try again later with a friend.
Very nice to play, as the simple mechanics are easily understandable. I liked the clean graphics, it fits the easy to play and have a nice twist on the darker theme, however i dont feel the same about the music, it sounded out of place in my opinion. Overall, its a very nice game.
In my humble opinion, a concerto for strings quartet is very fitting for this tematic. Like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuNDWhuvMys
Note that this is a VERY personal opinion. What is fitting to me, maybe is not fitting to you. I particularly find that the sacrifice theme needs something "darker", in which you provide a kinda of happy theme. The strings sound and the particular atmosphere Stravinsky provides in this piece give me this kind of feeling.
Also, hard to miss with classic music.
I had the same problems as everyone. I guess a little hint of the direction of the bridge when you are about to place the little island would turn the process easier to understand.
About the game, the idea was great. I notice a solution for the dreaded "Floating Islands" theme here, and it has a brilliant implementation. The graphics and music are also on point, being very pleasant to see and hear.
If it wasnt for the complicated mechanic, it would be a solid 5 star entry.
Hey @mrspeaker, @wdelvi, @frostbyte4k and @shp, i really wanted to put some effects not only on the special attack but also in the normal ones to make the game more interesting, but the timeframe didnt allow me. It falls on what @wdelvi says, it doesnt look like a special attack at all. It also falls in @frostbyte4k opinion, it lacks juice. I used the prototype backgrounds (without any effects and rather plain) because the submit time was ending.
About @fat-cat and @dob complains, it seems to be my decision that the attacks only hit if the enemy is not already hit, falling or rising. It was a decision to prevent mashing the enemy till it is down and allow it to revide the punches, which was probably not the best decision. I'll have that in mind in the future.
Also, thanks @meskaline, @gamers-blood-entertainment, @cowa, @jiri-hysek, @marc-garcia-penche, @jungle and the others previously mentioned for the kind words and time reviewing my game. I'll be sure to check every single one of your games and review them as well.
Hey @brklipel, the theme is in the story, considering that each cultist kill is a sacrifice as they sacrificed others before. I guess you skipped right into the action but i cant blame you for skipping my narration.
About the @kaleido, @fluffy-kaeloky, @raffe and @lereveur difficulty to land punches it was a decision i took that the attacks would only hit the enemies (and the player) if it is not already hit, falling or rising, in order to prevent button mashing and allow the hitted to revide the attacks. Now i see it was not the best decision for the moment, for which i apologize after seeing many people complain about it. As it changes in a core mechanic of the game, i will not modify it in order to not broke the jam rules.
I saw a couple of my friends also having this bug that you related @rolle. I will try to correct that, but as i took some days off to participate on the ludum dare and now i am back to work i dont know when i'll have time to do so.
Also thanks for @andrea, @erendelous, and all the others kind words, and the time you took not only playing this game, but also writting it's review. I did the same for every single one that commented here hoping i can contribute with anything.
@sawtan - Bronson, always Bronson.
@mrgrimace which browser did you use? I tested it on Chrome, Firefox and Edge and it should run fine. Can you also send me the console log of the browser tab so i can check what was wrong?
I never used Vivaldi Browser but i gave it a try and Death Wish runs fine on version 2.1.1337.51 (64bits), with sounds and everything. Officialy, Unity doesnt support it, but as Vivaldi has Webgl support, it should run fine. There is however a couple of things that can have bugged your sound:
Check the settings in Tabs -> Tab Muting (if an option of muting tabs is selected) Keyboard -> Tab (if some keyboard shortcut is set to mute tabs. If it is, try to set a shorcut to unmute all tabs. Maybe you pressed the shortcut but didnt mean it).
If it still isnt working, do you have installed any extensions on the browser that could affect this kind of function? If not, the last thing i found about was this guy with a audio codec issue: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/5965/solved-html5-sound-not-working/5
Another way is to play it on another browser (if you use windows, edge is always there lurking around menacing).
I really hope this can help you play not only this game, but any other that uses Unity engine in your favorite browser, but this is what i can give for support right now.
@mrgrimace , did something help at all?
Hey @mrspeaker, @shp, @dob, @marc-garcia-penche, @jungle, @andrea, @fluffy-kaeloky, @rolle, @tulipekoni, @jiri-one, @subtlydramatic, @arron-fowler you guys wrote some nice reviews regarding the soundtrack, so i felt motivated to publish them as whole full songs, which you can check (if you want) at:
https://soundcloud.com/derek-volker-413758721/sets/death-wish-soundtrack
@coleslaughter thanks for the comment, ill try to work on better mechanics next time
@paulhocker it is actually story related, the cultist sacrificed the protagonist loved ones, so now he will sacrifice them all. Also, as @digitaldude555 said i know it is not the best interpretation of the theme (probably one of the worst), but i wanted to deliver something fun to play and couldnt work with the 'loss something to proceed' mechanic i saw in many games on this jam.
@aurel come on, its a whole chicken! Tasty!
@aurel thanks for the tips. Dodging, more attack variety (both for the protagonist and the different enemies) were on the todolist, but the timeframe made me give up on them in order to deliver a fully playable game. The background is the first prototype, when i was about to work on a better background there was only one hour left, so it became the official in order to finish the game within the compo time. Anyway, i really appreciatte your review.
@cerno-b there is no timing in the player step and the beat, i guess it is just a happy coincidence. The whole combat mechanic should be reviewed to be a better game in my opinion now that i got many opinions on it. It was my decision to made it like it is in order to not be a full button mash till i win, but it doesnt really seem the best option now. The chicken drops are random indeed, and i guess really making dropped by specific enemies would be best.
Also @sawtan, @jfraser314, @rolly, @jesper-k, @jimbly, @vivien-fargette, @jens-steenmetz, @exewin, @busy-games, @josh-bothun, @matank thanks for your time playing and reviewing Death Wish.
Ok, so excellent job setting the mood in the beginning with the music, artstyle and narration. Got me there and i even wasn't actually playing. Now in game per se, i found nice graphics, smooth controls and funny audio, a reference of Spidey "I dont feel so good" maybe? It was a bit challenging until i understand the controls, than it was just a matter of proceed cautelosly. I felt it could use more levels, but as for a jam entry it is ok, and since i had this feeling it is because its a good one, no one wants more levels of a boring game.
Excellent entry guys. Also, props to you for controller support!
I played with all three options, and its very interesting to note the different ways the story take depending on which aspect you choose.
However, i find the game rather short. I know the timeframe made almost impossible to make the game really lasts for a longer time, but the first time i finished it i felt like "...already?".
Anyway, the story is well written and is interesting to note that it starts from absolutely nothing and part of it is to get the pieces to try to understand what is going on.
Nice job.
I liked this one.
It has the theme concept, nice graphics, cool audio and works well. I guess some limitations on quantity of birds you can use per level, or bonus for using less birds (in a score system) would be a nice addition to the game.
Very well done!
The graphics are really something to be noted in this game, they are very well done.
However, i found the idea of selecting options and interacting through the up and down arrow keys a little odd. Once i understand how the control works, it was ok for me. Couldn't pass through the big gate though.
I found it a bit repeating and could find a good strategy to use against the soul guardians besides walking backwards and try to strike them as my weapon have a bigger range. I guess if they had a attack pattern or behaviour i could think of a way to counter them and the gameplay would be more interesting.
That said, the controls respond very well and are easy to understand. The mechanics is also a good implementation, making you wonder if is it worth to spend points on upgrading the weapon or better to save some souls in order to not be defeat so easily.
Overall, is a nice entry for the jam. Good job.
Pretty nice gameplay and concept. I think that the graphics and the audio could be improved (the background music seems a little too slow paced for a fast paced game), but i know the compo timeframe really limits what you can do. Good entry.
The game core mechanic is very innovative and easy to understand, even if is not as easy to play. Also, i find it very nice that the physics work really well, aspect which often is a bug factory in many games. Nice job.
That was a nice and solid entry. It was a bit hard for me, but i am not a very good player anyway. Was able to finish the game and find 2/4 secrets. The last battery is really difficult to get by, in my opinion. Also, as @flopper3939 already said, the grappeling hook is really fun. It changes the game dynamics when you got it. Keep up the good work!
Cool idea and easy to play and understand. Also, the graphics are really pleasant. My complain is that is way too easy in my opinion to get hurt by the spikes and fall off the platforms. Maybe a slightly bigger range for the attack and more drag in the platforms would make this better, but it is a minor annoyance. Nice entry!
That was probably the most resource consuming game i played in this jam. Not that my pc is something when comes to graphics processing, but whatever.
Really liked the concept and graphics, but, while the music fits, i found it a bit too repetitive.
However, the aspect of mass destruction is really nice, and its kinda ironic to portrait it in such a comic way. Excellent job.
Im not very into puzzle games, but i found yours very fun to play. The progressively increasing difficulty and addition of new mechanics make it not only easy to understand and play, but also scaled the difficulty appropriately.
While i found the graphics rather plain, it kinda fits the theme and the music also enhances the atmosphere. The level design as well is on point.
Good job!
Couldnt beat it, but i never hurted the dog. NEVER HURT THE DOG.
Oustanding graphics and mechanics. Really liked the feel of the game and the character. No complicated plot, devices or anything, just bash'em till they are dead.
The choice system really fits into the theme, and the sacrifices actually matter into the game, making it progressively more difficult. I dont know exactly what happen if you hurt the dog, because i never hurted it. Something bad i guess. Ill not try.
Also, Dog is good dog. Dog is CROM dog. NEVER HURT THE DOG.
The game has an interesting concept, but i guess it would work better in a multiplayer system where the players share the environment or something against an AI. The artwork is also on point, good job!
It was fun to play and the graphics are neat. I think a background music could improve the game. You could include your friends music and opt out of Audio avaliation for the compo if you wanted. Anyway, i like the gameplay, simple and smooth, easy to understand. Good job on taking easy on second day, i couldnt!
You won me at Gamers Blood Entertainment and then i saw GAS GAS GAS (8 bit version). YES! The pixelart is on point and the voice acting was a very nice touch and well done. Simple to understand and play, yet i couldnt go beyond 13 points. I just wish i could just skip the intro explaining after the first time. Nice entry.
Sem tÃtulo.png
I beat it!
Really liked the mechanics implementation and level design. I dont really think that i could beat if i lost flight before any other, but it seemed clear for me that the attack and flight abilities were the most important.
I think the graphics could be improved and it really lacked sounds and a soundtrack to improve the experience, however for a compo entry its seems reasonable.
Good job for thinking in a mechanic that really captures the feel of the theme and implement it in 48 hours!
The animations are nicely done, but the game could really use a minimap (at least a reference for to return for the altar of sacrifices) and a way to hold the LMB in order to continue walking.
Sem tÃtulo.png
I found a bug that give lots os resources if you keep shooting the car after the wave ends and the shooting sound keeps playing for a while.
Other than that, very interesting and humours game. I guess the black humour is already expected when you read the game title, but is interesting that it deals with it in a non-serious way. The dialogues are very funny, just as the pros and cons of sacrificing your party members.
I think the graphics could have used i bit more polishing, but it doesnt really compromises the game experience.
I find interesting that while both graphics and audio are simple, together they created an effective combination for the game.
That said, the gameplay is kinda repetitive in its cycle, but is cool to observe the different actions took by the gods while you disappoint one or another.
Nice entry.
I think the game lacked a objective (to achieve 100 life, build 5 towers, clear different stages, score system) and gets repetitive really quickly.
The mechanics would be more interesting if you had something like a tower defense style game, with enemies with different behaviours and routes, making obrigatory to you to move from one point to another and making the tower more valuable, as it would prevent their advance in one side while you are busy in the other.
I know the timeframe is really oppressive, but think of the jam as an experience in order to enhance your developing skills. The fact that you was able to deliver a playable product is already worthy of praise. Many people gave up.
Hope to see you in the next jams!
It took me a while to understand the mechanics, but once i got it really shines. It is an interesting concept for a shooter to have limited aim, but it is well implemented so it works well.
While the graphics and sounds are simple, but they prove effective in this game. Really liked the entry. Excellent job!
Oh my god, i am laughing LOUD at this. I took seriously the advice of not putting them in the conveyor belt until i realize that SACRIFICES MUST BE DONE!
The core mechanic is really simple and easy to understand, and i really liked the implementation. While the graphics are simple and a bit unpolished, i guess it contributes to the humorous approach.
The voice acting is something apart. It really makes the game something better.
You know what, i am going to play it again only to hear the voices of the fruits being slaughtered.
Really nice job!
The concept of the game is very interesting, but i think that probably due to the timeframe the game became a bit flawed.
The scenario and the 3d models are nice and so are their animations, but seeing them as this i feel the absence of visual effects when deploying the powers compromises the game experience.
Also, the minotaur generating rate is a bit overwhelming, and their numbers quickly become too difficult to fight against, but in fact it was a fun thing to see.
That said, is a fun game to play.
Heh, that got really dark really quick. And quickly i did not care for the occupation of the sacrifices. Really puts in perspective what you are doing in order to achieve your objectives. The graphics and sounds were on point for the theme and the gameplay mechanics works like a charm.
The extreme difficulty is a must, the hard doesn't have the sacrifice feel but is actually a nice way to introduce the game and allow bad players (like me) to actually play the game. Although the graphics and sounds are simple, they fit very well in what the game presents, and end up not being a distraction for the difficulty it quickly presents. Nice entry.
That's an intriguing but damn public narrowing one.
Awesome core mechanics, graphics and typing sounds.
Good job!
Didnt expected this kind of game on a jam, so wow. The mechanics are only matched by how nice the graphics and sounds create the ambience of the game. Its also interesting to note that not only you got different enemies but also different abilities equiped by the player units, making possible the use of different strategies in-game and adding replay value.
I do however feel that it should be possible to move the camera with the arrow keys or something, keep the unit selected after right click and an option to select all. It isnt even a complain given the timeframe, just a few things that i noted during gameplay.
Excellent job guys.
While the concept of endless dungeon its nice, the game quickly becomes repetitive due to the existence of only one type of enemy (well, until level 5 i found only one and then the game crashed entering level 6, with the camera flicking uncontrollable).
The dungeon generator is nice. Sometimes it spawns the portal in the room right next to me while a long corridor with enemies is generated in the other direction, but is interesting that level by level it increases in size and complexity.
Also, congrats on opting out of graphics category and respecting the rules of the jam.
Good job!
Thats a really solid entry and pleasant experience.
For what i though, the use of vampires with the proposed theme would be a obvious choice, but you mangaged to make them different from the traditional approach, even being faithful to the common vampire rules (blood drinkers, garlic).
So, it's a really fun game. The story is interesting and set in a creative way, while being innovative in the use of (some?) logic with a puzzle and the vampire role in the story.
It is a bold choice to make graphics with only two colors (preparation for the two colors theme?), but given the theme and the execution, it turned out in a really cool graphics that both serves as eye candy in the game but also helps set the spooky mood. Also, what a fitting and nice soundtrack. Why are you guys not being rated in audio?
Also, i wouldnt expect such upbeat mood in a game involving vampires, but it turned out to beign quite humorous experience.
Excellent job.
Sem tÃtulo.png
Thanks for making the game!
First!
I saw many twin stick shooters, but not many twin stick sword(ers?). It's an interesting mechanic easy to get and to use, but hard to master (my case). I had quite the fun playing it and found nice that you implemented more than one type of enemy. The graphics are really simple but works nicely. While the music are nice, it is too short beign quickly too repetitive. The mood it set along with the graphics works well together. Good job on developing another game!
Overall its a quite fun entry. Personally i like twin stick shooters (even beign terribly bad at them, only managed to got the first upgrade of this game) so it would be certainly a good experience. The innovation and theme seems to be matched by the game upgrade, which i really didnt expected. Its kinda odd that the dude is replaced by a robot, but well, c'est la vie. The graphics are really not my thing, but it fits the theme proposed by the music and humor, with the effect phrases at the beggining, redneck stereotype expulsing invaders from his land and banjo music. Well, it works. Also, props for implementing an online highscore. Really nice feature to have, rarely saw in this kind of event. I guess it took some previous preparation for that, which is also notable. Good job!
ALMOST MADE IT. But died on the boss.
I really dig twin stick shooters and this one doesnt disappoint. The use of the theme is expected as we saw in many games on this jam, but still is clever, better weapons less chances to die. Also, i guess the spiner rifle is the only choice, the others didnt seem as effective as it, but still is nice that not only you guys deliver a game but one with support to different styles of playing and replay value.
The only downside i can see is the graphics, they really deserved a little more polishing, considering all the other aspects in the game. For example, it didnt really matches the awesome music of the game.
Anyway, is an impressive work. Excellent job!
Im not really a cat person, but poor cat.
The thematic set with the graphics and the music is on point. Really dismal.
I could see this game fits not only the theme of this jam, but the previous one (sacrifices must be made).
The controls are ok, but i think they should be a little more smooth, it would help avoid some dumb deaths from me.
Good job!
The instructions on the page are totally necessary. Tried to play without reading it and didnt understand nothing. However its quite simple to get the mechanics with a single quick read in the instructions.
I find the mechanic interesting because you have not only one resource as in many games i played this jam (usually life), but three and tradable for several aspects.
However, i find that it deserved more polishing in order to make the game more appealing, like the graphics and animations, and some background music to set the mood of the game.
Good job!
Very nice entry. The tower defense scheme works very well here (even beign a little unbalanced, which i understand given the timeframe) and its easy to learn, different of many games that i saw which used complicated types of enemies and towers. The result is a easy to learn and fun game.
I appreciated the combination of graphics and sound used in this game, which sets a nice mood for the proposed thematic, and it's interesting to note the progression of the protagonist.
While the combination of towers+walls works really well here and many may complain that is too simple, its actually impressive that are 3 different units avaiable and 3 different enemies, all developed in a tiny timeframe. Also, props for the banner, sold the game to me even before i played it.
Excellent job developing this game!
Finished without shooting. But yeah, took a lot of damage.
I find overall a nice game, the wasd move+mouse shoot/aim is a confortable control mechanic, easy to get and use. As i found better to avoid the enemies than kill them (pretty expensive shoots), i had quite the fun avoiding theme running from one side to another. Olé zumbi tonto!
The innovation is mostly set in the use of the jam's theme, and it's quite the price you pay (one of the reasons i decided not shoot). There is plenty of health though you can sell, but as the enemies also do lots of damage and i am very clumsy, it was a worthy strategy.
The graphics are good and fit the sound choice for a lonely mission and all, but i preffer some death metal for such. I guess the choice for only a background made a decision for mood setting in the end.
I think the only annoying thing is that when you open a door you can just see what is inside after you enter it, making sometimes you stumble on a zombie waiting there for you. In my opinion the content should be visible as soon as the door open, but i dont know the complexity of such implementation.
Couldnt beat the game. I know it is hard but im no good either, heh.
So, clever use of the scenario to inform the controls and also put the credits of the game. Also, outstanding visuals, i really liked the pixelart graphics.
I found it a little clunky to play, easily getting hit by enemies (sometimes when i just enter the room) and not really smooth to walk, but its kinda of a minor annoyance.
The background music is really nice, and the intro was nicely done.
Really good job on this game!
The mechanics felt a bit odd to me, i didnt really comprehend it even after playing. Specially the melee attack felt unresponsive, as i didnt could track when it will land and where.
The characters were really well made, but i find the scenario didnt match them in quality. Also, the lack of a soundtrack makes the game less than it could be.
Hey @belug23, sorry for the repetitiveness, we couldnt do better in the timeframe. As for the beam, you can try purchasing attack detect points at the end of the stages, it will provide better warnings each level for beams and mines.
Thanks for playing and leaving feedback on the game!
@freso you can buy attack detect upgrades at the end of each stage, which makes easier to see mines and beams and prevent hitting them
Hey @seizethedia , you can buy attack detection at the end of each stage which adds this kind of upgrade
While the concept is interesting and the mechanics of balancing several aspects of one's life works very well, i personally think the game deserved a little more polishing, not in the aspect of graphics (which i imagine the highly pixelated sprites are more an aspect of design decision) but in the way the choices are presented to the player.
The pros and cons of each decision, in my opinion, should be listed, even if it simple like (+welfare, -finance) after the choice ou really precise (+10 welfare, -15 finance). The lack of sounds also degrades the player experience.
That said, it is interesing to use the game as a reflection of what we are sacrificing in order to develop games. Reality hits hard.
Good job!
Ok, i was able to beat on easy. Tried the other difficulties but its too much for me. I am a bad player. It was fun anyway.
The use of Quake engine for a first person shooter naturally delivers a smooth gameplay, seem redundant to commend this aspect of the game.
The graphics are nicely done, especially the shotgun, but i particularly find the music a bit too ambient for a fast paced shooter, but the shotgun sound were nice. The level design also were nice, requiring a little exploring but not becaming easily boring with a huge map. The last was the best in my opinion and took me a few attempts before i could do the run and jump routine (proof of a failure as player).
Excellent job on deliver another fine game!
Thats a quite solid and funny entry.
Never expected to see what proposes to be a relaxing game but includes some kind of automation mechanic. And it actually works (not only as the intented mechanic but along with the relaxing theme).
I was prone to comment about the sheep treatment until i saw the end, which also was quite the fun and surprise.
Somehow the graphics manage to be simplistic yet attractive. I guess its the minimalist aesthetic that is pleasant and fit the relaxing theme along the gently melody.
It just runs a little away from the theme when it's not your life that is the currency, but the sheep.
Anyway, excellent job making this game. Hoping to see more quality content in the next jams!
(is that sound from stepping the mushrooms ... huh ... farts?)
Really cool graphics and mechanics. For real, the sound that the character makes when walks its truly nice. Also the music is another great point of the game.
In the beggining it seems just a simple platformer but the shooting mechanic makes it unique. Kinda tricky but easy to learn. Also, the stage design restricting you to advance based on how much life you got is not only a way to fit the theme but also makes the player look for hidden bonus.
Nice job!
YOU CAN EAT MUD FOR YOUR WHOLE LIFE!
Really interesting concept that makes you think what you are doing with your life and why are you not eating mud right now.
Seriously, you wonder what choices you made that affected in positive and negative ways but resulted in where you are right now (and possibly where you'll be tomorrow).
I think the game could use a little more options (and restrict them by age and/or by choices done before) but yeah, given the timeframe to deliver a complete game is already an achievement. And music, it would really make a difference in setting the mood of the game.
Good job on developing this game. Now i'll leave games behind and start a new life of mud eater.
Thats some pretty nice graphics out there. When i saw for the first time the image of the theme on twitter i imediatly though that someone would made a game about trading organs for something but just now i finally see in your game.
Its kinda of odd to think that a game about a naked man with a sword is cool but you guys managed it. It kinda fits the proposed thematic of a man ripping his own breast to tore his heart out (how he managed to still alive after ripping the heart and brain out is up to debate).
Anyway, excellent job delivering this game!
Well, the physhics and concept are very interesting, with the controls responding very well. I found the music a little odd, but is cool that it reacts to the game somehow.
I guess what it lacks is a clear objective, like a score or number of stages to beat. The concept could be improved if you retain the amount of snow from one level to another, leaving you to decide if you should or not spend in powerups.
Good job!
Got me laughing at the well well well well... And probably the audio is what shines most in this game, only lacking a backtrack to enchance the experience.
I also miss a effect or something to indicate that the basic attack has been performed and actually see its range. I ended up not using it because i couldnt determinate exactly where it was hitting.
The mechanics are quite simple and the controls respond very well (no pun intended), but i personally think that the player moves way too fast.
The graphics are simple but neat and consistent with the game proposal.
Good job on this game!
Really nice catch on the theme and with a nice implementation. I guess it only lacked more content, but due to the time constraint its understandable.
Good job!
Nice twist on tetris.
Its kinda a literal interpretation of the theme, but it was extremely vague and in most games you start with nothing as well.
Good graphics and sounds, controls work nicely. No complains.
Good job!
CHI!
It does need a little polishing for a comercial game, but for a jam it is really nice. Its sad that you couldnt finish a full playable version, but the concept is interesting. Congrats on the work done and making avaiable what you could finish.
Pun puzzle with a nice twist.
The graphics are simple and easily understantable. which is a must in this kind of game. I think you also did a good job in the sounds making them match the graphics for the style of the game.
Good job on your game!
That is probably the best story telling i saw in this jam. Lets not get into the little details. And also probably the funniest one.
Graphics and sounds could be improved a little to enhance the player experience but they dont compromise it. In fact its a very competent work for such a short timeframe. Also, the game is too short. I wanted more.
Narrot -> Best narrator
Excellent job!
The collision issues prevented me from getting the berries and progressing into the game. Some of them fall into unacessible areas when i try to harvest them. Also, the attack seems to not work on the HORDE of skeletons. Maybe i need an item that i cannot get because of the berry quest?
That said, the graphics are pretty neat. Really neat. The sounds present are nice, but the lack of music makes it seem a little empty. The correct soundtrack could improve the atmosphere of the game greatly.
If you could, post a version correcting the collision bug before the play & rate ends in order to prevent future players for experiencing it. According to the Ludum Dare Rules:
*Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players.*
Good job on finishing the compo!
That was a really amazing entry. Incredible graphics, soundtrack and mechanics. All feels nice, the controls respond well, the graphics are consistent with soundtrack and the game thematic. Also, it really nails the jam theme. Im impressed that you could do all this by yourself in the merciless compo timeframe. Absolutely outstanding job!
Also, somehow i managed to clear it!
Sem tÃtulo.png
Amazing job. The graphics are not neat, they are superb and the sound design really matches the atmosphere that the graphics transmit. The core engine are absolutely ingenious, as the weapons are also the shields, making an creative approach to the jam theme. I could not found any relevant flaw in the game. Excellent job. Solid entry. Congrats!
The graphics are truly the unique feature here. I wonder how do you done them, hand drawing? Also props for having different enemies. And the atmospherical sounding really enhances the experience.
The controls are ok. There's a slight delay on attack due to the pre-attack animation but is ok to get the timing, it doesnt feel clunky.
The problem with the game in my opinion is the repetition. You go in a dungeon, slay the enemies, proceed to next dungeon, repeat. It felt like something to break the routine was needed to make the game more interesting. I dont know why though.
Excellent job on developing this game. Congrats!
At first is kinda hard to go through due to the knife guys, but once you get the hang of it and the bottle or the shotgun the game difficulty drop considerably.
While in this subject, i found the controls a little unresponsive, leading to many of my deaths. I dont know exactly how to detail this, they just felt strange to me.
In the other hand, the graphics and audio are amazing. Even with a team is impressive the job done in 72 hours.
Congrats on an excellent job!
@tolmera it kinda worked until i talked to the shaman and it began walking up and down, left and right going back and forth some scenes and the game didnt go any further. The graphic choice of the game is a bit unusual, but with some polishment the scenarios would become really nice. The mechanics and controls, well, i dont exactly know what you wanted to achieve but it felt very clunky to me. Maybe limiting the screen size or define it to a fixed size would help with the visualization issues but again, i dont know what you wanted to achieve.
Anyway, good job on finishing a game within the compo timeframe!
It an interesing concept while at the same time it have some clever puzzles. Good job!
While it certainly fits the theme, i found the gameplay a bit confusing, and when i likely understood it, it becomes mostly waiting the healthbar fills. I guess if you actually control the player searching having a few hints where the parts are it would be a much nicer design. Its also worthy to note that the UI is nicely designed and the graphics and music are really pleasant.
The graphics are quite simple yet is impressive to see every single one (except Nicholas Cage) being done hand drawn.
Its controls are quite simple and the game a bit short as well, but the mechanics are pretty smooth and provide a enjoyable game session.
My only complain about the game is the absence of sound.
Good job!
Wow. The graphics are absolutely amazing. The music/sound also does a great job on creating the atmosphere of the game. However, i found the controls a bit too harsh, the player could have a smoother walk and jump, which led me to several dying and the fearsome softlock on first boss, which i couldn't pass. Except for this part, is an excellent work, specially for compo. Outstanding job!
I liked the minimalistic graphics presented on this game. It kinda helped create the atmosphere shared with the soundtrack, which is nice enough to be playing on loop and dont get boring.
The mechanics provide a nice and interesting gameplay, however i felt it lacked some kind of challenge. I guess the proposal is to be a chill game after all, given the fact that the last objective is more of a waiting until you got the resources you need than find a solution to find the resources.
Excellent job anyway.
I really liked the minimalistic pixelart graphics and the game core mechanics. While it is easy to understand and use, the hacking parts were nowhere as easy. Couldnt pass from the one where the ground is red before a gate thing.
What i didnt like was that the music was (in my opinion) too low, and it didnt had sound effects for the shooting, 'boss' getting hurt, jump, etc...
Another thing i guess it was lacking is a progress bar in the hacking scenes. Often i would be shooting at the boss but it was not on camera, so i couldnt really know if i was hitting it or not.
But these are minor issues. It is an outstanding entry for such a small timeframe. Excellent job!
While the mechanics are creative and really fitting on the theme they also are annoying. I rage quitted it in the spikes level. I found the controls a bit unresponsive as well, maybe the delay between pressing the key and performing the action degrades a little here where you got to do precise movements without really see the character.
On the other hand the sounds are really well done on this entry, and kind of helpful as you cant see the character. The graphics could be a little more polished to fit the quality of the sound, but is understandable given the strict time constraint of the compo.
By the way, congrats on finishing the compo. You made it bro!
The graphics presentes on the game are really well done and the explosions are very satisfying to watch. On the other hand, to comprehend the game mechanics and actually make progress is kind of complicated. The swipe to move the objects felt a bit clunky to me and i had a though time trying to move Earth to the black holes. It was however a pleasant experience watch all the fireworks in the progress. Good job on your entry.
I enjoyed the concept and the simple graphics and sounds. It however is too much of a walking simulator. To me it lacked some enemies on the way, or puzzles, or traps, or something.
Anywya, congrats for voice acting. I just think that the sound of writing kinda overlap the voice acting. I guess it would be better if it only has voice acting in this case.
Good job on your game!
Cool concept and nice execution.
I find the lack of sound compromising regarding the game experience. The game could be really improved with sfx and background music.
The graphics however are pretty nice and the mechanics easy to learn.
Good job on this game!
I ended up falling through 3 screens and got stuck into the void. Guess the character really drunk too much.
There are solid graphics and sounds on this games. The combinations gives a nostalgia feeling of old console games and the controls works with precision.
Besides the falling bug, i also notice a small high pitch noise that occurs with some frequency, someties associated with the falling on ground noise, sometimes not, dont know if its something of the WebGL build, but is kind of annoying.
Overall, its a really nice game. Congrats on a good job!
Im not sure if i understood what exactly was going on. I just pressed space and the scenes went on.
Well, the graphics and sounds were great.
Good, uh, experiment?
DAMN MY ARM!
Now that was really interesting and fun concept while also using non-conventional controls. I really like it, congrats! Also, congrats on making the music, maybe you could think in something more present reagarding sound, but the result was ok.
Ok, cool effects. Yeah, for real.
Also, nice narration. Combined with the minimalistic graphics and the ambience sound it kinda give a meditation vibe.
Its also worth to note that the effect when you grab the cubes matches the tone of the ambience, which also give a nice feel.
No complains. Nice graphics, cool mechanics and great sound.
Excellent job on this game!
I liked the graphics, very polished and well done for a jam; the mechanics, solid and interesting; and the controls, smooth and very responsive.
However i felt that the game could have a bit more content in it, in the form of levels to beat, different enemies that appear over time or something that improve the experience. The audio could also use a bit polishing in order to improve the experience, but it already are in no way annoying.
The game also starts to lag after sometime. It is a bug or something?
Very nice entry. Congrats on a good job!
Really liked the way the robot move before got any part, it fits its character that refuses to give up. Also liked the level design that makes you easily understand what you have to do and where you can pass or not without saying a single word. I think it lacked some kind of sound effects for the jump, waypoints, traps and stuff, but it doesnt really affect the game, it would be more of an improving. Nice job!
Very cool graphics and sound. Reminds me of Limbo at a first glance.
The mechanics are pretty innovative, however its kinda tricky to master and the controls doesnt respond very well. The rotation keys are way too slow in my opinion and i could get past first area. It was fun to swing around anyway.
Very interesting and innovative entry. Congrats!
Really nice and relaxing, here is my island:
Sem tÃtulo.png
The graphics are neat, and while minimalistic (which i like), they are very pleasant and fit the relaxing theme. The game also fits very well in the jam theme. I guess that the music could only be longer as it is supposed to be playing on loop several times, in order to grant some variety. In any other aspects, i cant complain. Excellent job.
Thats probably the most minimalistic graphics i ever saw. Even for a jam. And is not a bad thing. The concept is real interesting but i wonder where the thief is putting those gold bars in order to be captured but even so keep the gold.
The controls are a bit complicated to grasp from the start, but even with the large variety of controls i could play nicely. They felt responsive and ok in fact. I was worried that with this much mechanics it would somehow become clunky but that was not the case.
Excellent job on this game!
The concept is nice, however i found the execution a bit flawed. It is difficult to understand the objective of the game and how the mechanics work, i guess an ingame tutorial would help clear that out.
Anyway, its a nice approach to the theme, as you start broke, with nothing. Good job!
I could learn all the words that were avaiable to me at a given time but could not make any advance in the game beyond that. Phrases like need fuel question or similars didnt produce any results. Well, maybe is my lack of english knowledge (not my primary language).
Anyway, the graphics are really nice and the sound is astonishing. The music is good and set a nice mood to the game but the sfx are something else. Really nice interpretation of what a alien language would sound while spoke by a human.
Excellent job!
BEEP BEEP!
While the text-adventure mixed up with hand drawn gaphics are really something innovative as far as what i saw in the jam, the type of the game is not really my thing. It is to note however that the mechanics are easy to understand. Good job!
Well, you nailed the theme i guess. Its fun for a concept, and also pretty funny guessing words game.
Nice approach to the theme with interesting mechanics. The level design that require you to combine multiple abilities is really cool, and got me trying several times until i could get the right timing of skill combination.
However, i find it very annoying that the spells are used on key release (or key up) and not on key down as the other controls. It really turn the game harder than it should be. Also, turn up the volume, i had to crank the sound to barely hear something.
With that in mind is also interesting that you put up multiple levels really polished.
Congrats on developing this game!
The screen distortion really adds something up to the game, creating a retro aspect which is completed by the music and the sounds. However, the controls are very clunky, making the precises jumps really hard to do. Also, when in stair type scenarios i got often stuck in a step while trying to jump higher. This is, however, the only aspect that i find that really affects the game as a whole. In every other aspect, is a nice experience. Good job!
This an absolutely big game for a jam, im impressed. It includes it all. Audio, graphics, innovative mechanics, smooth controls, levels, online highscore, you name it, this game have it.
Nothing else to comment. Outstanding job!
Thank you all for the kind words, recomendations and mostly for taking your time to play and rate my game.
Hey @zuf, @apace, @beshr-kayali, @griz, @asturk, @miu, @p-r the game design really went not good. Initially i planned to do only level design and decoration at the last day in order to do proper testing of all components but i could only start it when i had 4 hours left, so it went kind of rushed. I planned to make 8 levels plus boss, but had to condensate all the upgrades in three and the backtracking really turn out annoying. I will try to work more time in this next jam and keep your thoughts in mind. Sorry :(
About what @paulo-brunassi and @marcel-oyuela-bonzani said, the invincible post-hit time ended up in the to-do list. I wished to do something like rockman but the time constraint didn't allow me.
@fluffy-kaeloky could you elaborate more about the lack of inertia when jumping? I had a similar question about in the last jam and tried to improve the physics on this one. If i could improve it more, it would be even better.
Also thanks @assaf, @the-osk, @plepletier, @blobo, @webus for taking your time writting a comment. I am trying to play, rate and comment on the positive and negative aspects of everyone that commented here and as soon as possible.
Very nice music. I really appreciated it. Too bad that the graphics doesnt match the music quality. They are competent enough for a jam but not near as good as the music. Sorry.
The game mechanics are pretty easy to understand and the controls respond well, which is good.
Nice job!
Interesting idea. I dont remember seeing nothing like it in this or previous jams.
Congrats on the game!
Well, this is brilliant. Really liked the game. The graphics are neat, the mechanics work really well and it even follow the rules of chess regarding the movement of the pieces.
If you want, i can produce a track for your game (free of charge), but i can only work on this tonight (in 9 hours or so). In my soundcloud you can check my work (i usually produce classical, metal, electronic and 16-bit songs):
https://soundcloud.com/derek-volker-413758721/
Congratulations on your game!
As soon as i arrive home i'll write and produce it @notapixelstudio
Hey @notapixelstudio, i made your song. You can download it here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jLBGal2RoNSaBH9ObqXCCAtFNP3Y9I3m/view?usp=sharing
Its a 120bpm piece, looped and with heavy emphasys on the beat. I hope you like it and it fulfill your expectations regarding a song for the game.
Hey @notapixelstudio, im glad you liked the song! Keep up the good work!
Yay, i made it!
Sem tÃtulo.png
Very relaxing and fun puzzle. And it dont even is my favorite genre. The mechanics are pretty solid, the graphics are nice and the audio choice was on point. Maybe think of having a composer on your team next time?
Congrats on an excellent job!
Ok, pick up a bunch of monkeys and put them to play your game.
It really fits the theme, quite literally, and is a nice concept, but gets easily boring. i guess it is more of an experimentation than a game. Hum, nice?
Stupendous job. Even more for a jam. The graphics are really nice, the mechanics are interesting and easy to understand (even if not easy to master), it has lots of contents, stages, a boss battle (and a particular not easy one) and even a story twist at the end.
The only downside i could see (in fact hear) is that the music is almost unhearable. Specially regarding the boss battle the addition of a climactic music would improve the already neat game you guys developed.
Its also worth to note the amount of mechanics you put the effort to develop in such a small timeframe. Amazing job!
When i saw it was a game with @anstabo and @fluffy-kaeloky i knew that it was going to be a good game but damn, this is spectacular!
The art style is fantastic, the music and sounds are pleasing and the game mechanics are something not only clever and adherent to the theme. The entire gameplay is a very nice and confortable experience. I am truly amazed by the work you folks could done in the jam timeframe.
Outstanding work! Hope to see another piece of art in the next jam!
Also, now i know that my notebook is not a toaster!
I found very interesting the way that the graphics interact with the mouse move and they are neatly done with a personal style, also making them easily to recognize. I could not find an use for the inventory, which i belive stayed as a work in progress due to compo minuscule timeframe. It is also interesting that are different enemies with different interactions, giving variety and value to the game. Also, i personally found the bee sound too high pitched and annoying, but its a personal feeling. Its nice also that when a enemy is nearby a danger music plays, warning from a possible attack from behind. Good job on your entry!
Passed about one minute only pressing left and right with to mess with the scale factor and listen to the menu sound wobbling around. The faster the funnier!
The sounds are truly the best, and while the graphics are somewhat simplistic, they are also well done.
The problem i found is with the cat throwing mechanic. They go way too far with the minimal amount of throwing and have a powerful rebound on walls. It made very difficult for me to pass through the title screen and i gave up on the basketball level. I guess if they stayed spinning a bit longer after they stabilize it wouldnt be so challenging.
With that in mind, its an excellent job for a jam game.
Being seen naked = not ok
Step on the coworkers head naked = ok
I like the logic of you game. The graphics are well done, but i find the physics a little clunky, as you get stuck in the platforms while falling sometimes and not complete the fall. The sound, while simple, fits the game as well. Nice job!
1 extra point for cute dogs. Got me smiling just for starting the game. Another extra point for the pun in the title
The graphics are just amazing. Even not having animations, seeing the dogs do small jumps for moving was nice. The sfx are very good, but i felt that it lacked a soundtrack to enhance the ambience. The windy sound set the atmosphere right, but the correct music could do it better in my opinion.
The mechanics of the game are easy to understand and work quite well. While its a bit tricky to walk in diagonals with the perspective view using the keyboard, the commands answered right and after a few tries i could jump in the ruins and climb the stairs to get the treasures.
Outstanding job!
I got to say hand drawn graphics have its charm. And start as a head rolling got me laughing!
The graphics and sounds are quite simple, yet effective for the purpose i guess. It looks like something out of a B-Movie. And its not a bad thing. Controls are ok, no big innovations but also i found no bugs or unresponsive commands and i actually prefer usability over inovation.
Good job on developing this game!
I liked the graphics and 3D isometric disposition of the minimalist graphics. It gives a nice feel and a pleasant atmosphere. However, the game UI doesnt match this, making it odd when you talk to some of the npcs, or the main menu and so.
The music while nice its quite repetitive. Maybe longer loops would solve this problem. Also, even needing more polishing to become more presentable, the minigames are quite fun.
I found a bug in two islands where the camera wont follow the player. Its kind of annoying moving around without seeing where to, but it didnt seem to prevent the player from perfoming actions such as embark the ship or interact with the npcs. Entering and leaving the map wont solve the problem as well, only leaving the island.
Anyway, good job on the game!
Very fun entry! The core game mechanics are very solid and allow you to avoid obstacles at the last moment, granting you a way to go through lines of obstacles if you got the right timing.
However, i found odd that when you 'collect' a part that you already have the game consider it a obstacle and you crash on it, losing a car part. I dont know if it is a bug.
In the other hand, the graphics are very neat and the sounds pleasant.
Good job on this game!
I found the controls really hard and the camera didnt helped at all, making me fall on the first curve many times. I could pass through it once but then i tried a few more times without success and rage quitted it.
Ond the other side the graphics are astonishing for a game made in a jam, specially a first entry from a single developer. The sound also seems good and the game design felt nice.
I guess the problem is my lack of ability.
Good job!
I really liked the game. The tutorial is simple, quick and teaches the game mechanics very well, which also works neatly. The graphics are well done and pleasant to the eyes.
The audio would be a great improvement to the game, in order to create a nice atmosphere and complement the graphics. Maybe you should consider finding a team mate to do the audio, so you can focus in development and graphics, which you are already doing nicely.
The issue that i found is a bug at the graveyard. I went there with all the companions and the game crashed as they were fighting the skeletons. Below is the console output, maybe it can help you figure it out.
Sem tÃtulo.png
Besides the lack of audio and the bug, excellent job!
Intersting management game. And specially that the action which improves the mood is to play with the dog.
I liked the graphics. While simple they are pleasant and easy to understand what everything are supposed to be without text explaining. The mechanics are also nice and challenging. I found however that the lack of sounds in the game compromise the experience of the player.
Congrats on your game!
It is certainly interesting the concept of a story-driven game like this, however i felt that the execution came out a bit flawed. In a short time it becomes only click the "go on an adventure" the faster you can before the bars drop. If the adventure part was more than only text, maybe giving you choices which could result in different outcomes it would be a lot more interesting. The music is good and fits into the concept, but soon became repetitive. Maybe it should be longer? Anyway, the concept is interesting enough to provide a good game, but it needs polishing.
Really nice concept that fills the jam theme very well. Is interesting the way you present the concepts in order to the player learn how to play without beign tell explicitly what to do. It is, however, a bit hard. I only managed to get the first $ and stuck at there. Im not really into puzzles, specially after a whole weekened coding, but its a very interesting and fresh concept. Congrats!
Thats the first game i saw in this jam where the controls beign weird are part of the fun.
The graphics and sounds are quite simple, yet effective in this game. They give that vintage nostalgic vibe. The controls and mechanics are quite simple to understand, and even with this the game came with nice puzzles.
Also, i laugh at that bouncing ball rain. Good job on this game!
I found the concept of the game interesting, however i felt it needed more polishing in order to become more entertaining and fun, specially regarding the graphics and the sounds (some music could set up the ambience for the better). Even considering that, the game works pretty well
Also, i could not place the blocks 2 and 3, even being able to place the block 1.
Anyway, nice job!
The controls are really hard to get it at first. I dont really got the grasp of them but was able to play and capture the Heli.
Some kind of tutorial or at least an explaining text should be present in the game in order to the player get what is supposed to do. Without the explanation in the Ludum Dare page i would not be able to tell exactly what i was supposed to do.
In the other side, the graphics are very competent in producing the atmosphere desired for the game, as well completed by the audio. Its a small detail, but the shadows gave a nice touch to the game.
Overall, nice job!
Nice concept but i couldnt understand the mentioned buy vendor item and skip vendor, as i didnt found anything that resembles a vendor in game. I stacked a lot of currency? (i guess) and plenty of upgrades? (again, i guess) that didnt seem to upgrade anything.
However, the controls responded well and the mechanics that i could understand worked nicely. The graphics (specially the UI) are very neat.
Congrats on finishing your entry for compo!
I see it more as a way to express yourself than a game, but it has its value, especially regarding the emotional aspect that many of us share.
The concept is intersting for a jam game, but i think the implementation lacked some spice.
For example i dont understand why you chose to spend more time detailing the barrels and the guns and left the player way simplier.
Besides that, the controls and game mechanics works fine, which led to a fun game session.
Good job!
While the idea is interesting of having to get upgrades in order to progress, the implementation felt a bit clunky. You will sometimes get stuck on a wall and i particularly find the camera position a bit odd, not favoring movement to left or down. The art, however, is consistent with the thematic and the sound effects are nice. A background music would certainly spice the atmosphere a bit, but the absence doesnt makes the game worse. Good job on your entry!
Nice job on completing your first jam game! I liked the graphics style, it could only face the other sides when walking left, right or up, but due to time constraint it is perfectly comprehensive. You could also improve the experience by adding some sfx when catching fireflies. That said, its a nice game giving the concept you aimed for. Good job!
Not bad for a first game. It sure require some polishing on controls, collision and so, but you done it, it works and you released it.
Congratulations!
The victory sound is really fun. The graphics and controls are ok, but i think that the game required a bit more challenging than just exploring and going up and sides.
I liked the 'minimap' UI there.
Nice job on completing the compo!
The concept is really is really nice and the graphics and sounds collaborate to create an almost cartoonish atmosphere, which is really interesting.
However, i had a hard time with the controls. I found them a bit unresponsive, making the jumps really hard to perform.
With this in mind, its quite understandable that the problem is due to the jam timeframe. Managing to develop in a team as well participating for the first time is also quite complex.
Congrats on the team work and finishing a game in time for the jam!
Not bad for a first jam. Keep working on improving your skills in order to develop more polished games in the future. The only issue i see with the game (other than be too short, but we all know the time constraint is a problem for everyone) is that it could start easier and progressively get harder, with the finality of teaching the player how the game works. In the other side, the physics works nicely. Good job!
I really enjoyed the modular characters. They are very well drawn and their movement are very smooth. It becomes something really cool for a game set in the water.
However, while the characters are really nice the scenario is off and needed more polishing. And i guess that is the only point i could find a flaw. The audio is nice, the controls are smooth and the game is fun.
Excellent job!
I couldn't really understand what i was supposed to do. Died a few times because i step on the fire or something, or shot, then it seems that i killed everybody in the room and was stuck on it.
The shooting mechanic is kinda odd, i guess is oriented to joystick but with mouse it is strange. Nevertheless the graphics are nice.
Ok, this is just amazing. Specially the sounds. Sneaky-sneaky, tip-toe-tip-toe. It really gets in the head.
Loved the game. Excellent work!
Ok, so you guys made a game when you never really win. Tried every possible dialogue options and there's always a disgrace waiting for you. Almost feel like real life but with better graphics. Could have at least a hidden stuff where you stole the kid's candy and use it to barricade the hospital or something.
The graphics are really nice and the music complements the atmosphere, giving it the intended sad atmosphere. AND I NOTICED THAT ATHLETIC REFERENCE!
I found a tiny bug when the music sometimes overlap each other when going to menu/endscreen. Minor stuff really.
Congrats on more on jam!
Fun game. I specially liked the voice acting.
While it has simple graphics, they are good enough. The lava effect specially is really neat. The gameplay is smooth and the difficulty is right.
Good job!
Being waiting to play this since you posted about it on the main page, so i followed you to make sure i didn't miss this one. Really nice game, innovative mechanics, cool graphics and music, and damn, that's a hard one, couldn't win at all but have a really good time playing it.
Excellent work!
I honestly couldn't understand what i was supposed to be done. I guess some labels on the icons could help understand which button does what. The concept is really interesting though.
Really liked the lava effect, specially in the title screen. The audio effects and the music of the game are also nice.
I found it pretty amusing, making me play it several times. However i wasn't able to beat 3 safe zones. Well, i'm not a very good player in any way.
Congrats for the nice job!
Man, that's really hard to steal the first ship. The movement mechanic are really nice, it certainly gives the space vibe. Other than that, only the lack of sound (ok, there's no sound in space) makes me feel something was missing. Really good job on this game, congrats!
That's too bad you guys couldn't finish it, it looks really promising, the graphics are really neat. Hope to see a full version soon!
Now this was remarkable. Neat graphics, nice music, smooth controls and even story. Congrats on a hard work, i had quite a time playing it and trying to figure out how to proceed.
Some bug prevent me from going further once Miggs gave me a complex scheme and try to put the seeds together and then i was stuck with a yellow seed in hand and couldn't quit the planning screen and do anything else.
Other than that, excellent work!
The game style it's really nice and innovative, really liked the voxel graphics. Sound also added up to fill the game's atmosphere.
I find however the controls a bit confusing, having the same button to interact and pick up objcets makes me many times not able to use the item that i was holding because i was probably not in the correct place and droping it in the ground. Maybe a key to use and other to pick/drop items would be a bit better.
Overall, really liked the entry. Set me up in a good mood. Good work!
Whoa, really nice graphics and audio. I really dig this DOOM style 3D where just the scenario are 3D and the rest are 2D sprites. So nostalgic.
The gameplay are really smooth, that core mechanics are easy to understand and assimilate but the game is hard. Excellent job on this entry!
Not really my kind of game. I was able to achieve victory in the first scenario but don't know exactly how. It is good that you provided information about the ships, i think it would add to strategy to a different player, but for me it doesn't really help unless i have the stats on the screen when i click them or something.
The SFX are a little too high in comparisson with the background track but the game functions respond just well. The graphics are neat as well. Congrats on your game!
The concept it's interesting, however it's kind of simple, you just go putting the objects and checking one by one in the computer until you find out the correct position. I guess it would be more interesting if you couldn't just check this way, having to figure out some sort of logic behind, but i don't really see how it could be done, so it's nice that you found something that works.
The graphics and sounds are pleasant, making the game experience nice.
Good job!
I though i was going to see something like this with the "Turn a violent genre non-violent" and was kinda surprised seeing with the Keep it Alive theme but it sure does fit the theme.
While the concept and implementation of the text mechanic are neat, i think a bit polishing on the UI would turn the game more interesting. Also, i miss a background track of some sort. I guess the time spend writting the many possible lines would not really left any time avaiable for that.
Could you detail more about the controls @gamer-fates ? Is it the key bindings or something else that annoys you?
Mas ah @lex!
Thank you all guys @zerohbeat @jungle @amkingtrp @noamraz @prepparedheathen for playing, rating and leaving a comment!
Also thanks @chertkov @historymaker118 @gamer-fates @slotha @dummydojo @gaminghasmter @slimbun @blobo @alexscher for giving some tips. I'll keep that in mind next jam, trying to make a better game.
I made sure to play all the games of you guys, rate and leave a comment pointing out what i found good, what i found bad and what was my experience playing your games!
The graphics and story are really nice, but it left the taste that something more is lacking.
That's probably the most different idea i saw not only on this jam but in all jams i have participated. I really enjoyed the game's proposal and mechanics, which are really easy to understand and use. The artstyle choice also contribute for the easy going atmosphere, completed by the soundtrack.
Excellent job!
Whoa. Absolutely incredible graphics. Nice music and sound. Cool mechanics. Fitting the theme. Don't know what more to say.
It runs smoothly, even in the browser and is really fun to play.
Excellent job. Really.
Now thats really addictive and frustrating. Could not make it to the end, when i got to the cloud things it became impossible to my poor skills to handle, and even getting to there cost a thousand deaths.
That said, the game is insanely fun. Not that i expected less from @shp from the previous jams but damn. Neat graphics, cool music/sfx, responsive controls. Well, the whole package.
Excellent job again. Keep up the good work.
Ok, so i'm not a big fun of puzzle games, but this one it's truly special.
Simple concepts, nice mechanics fitting very well the jam's theme. The sounds and graphics are simple, but in a good way, fitting the game as a whole. Really good work.
I could make through all levels (proof below), needing to restart some of them to understand what i have to done and what i done wrong, but they all seems to have a nice difficulty to make them interesting.
Sem tÃtulo.png
Excellent job!
While i really liked the artstyle of the game and the playstyle, i really don't like the theme at all. I know people have different approach regarding the current events, but that is not mine.
The music is good but a bit repetitive, but what i really found interesting is the quantity of content developed in one weekend. The graphics are really nice. Congrats on your game!
Whoa. Really nice graphics. REALLY nice.
I liked the simple mechanics and the UIless concept, where everything you need to know is in the game. Cool to see the concept used in a jam in such a nice way.
There are only two points that i think the game lacks. A nice set of SFX to complete the cool soundtrack and (almost impossible in a jam) a longer duration. Seriously, would like to play more levels.
Excellent game!
Really nice graphics. They set the mood complemented by the music and create a chill atmosphere. Very impressive.
While i found a considerable number of keep the fire burning game, i don't remember seeing any that has fireflies with it. I guess it turn out to be a nice twist and gave the game a cool touch given the graphics.
The mechanics and concept are nice as well, and require a bit of analyze and strategy in order to keep going.
I really appreciate this game. Excellent job!
HTML5 (web) didn't work for me. Using Chrome on Windows 10. Tryed the Windows version and it runs fine.
I find it quite amusing and played several times, but couldn't go past the 2 minute mark. While the concept it's simple, it is easy to understand and the mechanics are very polished, the game works like a charm. Also, the graphics are really good and the sound is great. I just missed a background soundtrack during the main game, just as in the title screen.
Excellent job!
Really cool idea and even better implementation.
The graphics are really neat and the sound complements the atmosphere. I enjoyed playing this game, and the difficulty scales up just right.
Excellent job!
I find the philosophical side of the game really nice, finding a way to fit the theme in the ways of the Buddhism. However, i think the whole game needs more polishing to match such original idea.
Nevertheless, i had quite fun trying to figure out how to proceed through each level.
Good job!
Really interesting approach to a jam, writting an intrincate story. I liked the mechanics and the audio, but i think the graphics could be a bit more polite to match the quality of the other game aspects. That said, it's an nice entry.
Good job!
Always like to see a pico-8! Nice premisse, cool graphics, neat sounds, responsive controls! You nailed it!
It has a nice mood created by the graphics and the sound, good work.
While the gameplay is easy to get and works well, i found a bit annoying that the player is paralized as soon as the enemies "snap" into it. However the special ability works to unbind them and run away, so it's ok i guess. It's also a bit hard to tell when you can bite them or not to turn into allies, maybe the health bards could last longer?
Anyway, the idea for the game is quite innovative and fits nicely in the jam theme.
Nice work putting it all together.
Very cool idea to fit the theme, using an old and easily recognized mechanic but with new elements. The graphics and sound are also on point, makes the game a very pleasant experience to play.
I however found a bug. Game freezes upon entering level 8 - to the point. By passing level 7 or loading through continue the result was the same for me. Had to manually close the application through task manager after this.
Excellent job on this entry. Congrats!
I found that the character is too big for the screen, not allowing to see clearly what is next to you to take an action. Also the controls are a bit clunky, as the character continues walking a bit even when i release the moving key, not being a very precise movement mechanic.
That said, i liked the art style and the audio. The music are really nice.
Good job on completing a game for the jam!
It has a weird bug that it slow downs for a while and then resumes playing normal from time to time.
I liked the simple graphics, but i found that the lack of music and sounds creates a void in the game that makes it dont fully uses it's potential. It's an interesting approach to have to keep your job alive as a way to fit the theme. Good job!
Don't know why you used a installer to distribute a copy of a game made in Unity, probably many people didn't play your game because of this. It was wise to provide a web version after, but maybe you could keep a html original and a post LD version as well.
For the sake of rating, i played both versions, both original and post LD.
I liked the concept, and while isometric visuals are always pleasant to me, the controls are easy to confuse. It's nice to see that in the post LD version you find a nice workaround for it without having to change the mechanics or controls. I found only that the menu transitions are a bit too slow and the character sometimes doesn't respond to the commands, having to press again the command you want to perform.
The graphics and sounds are pleasant and create a nice atmosphere for the game. Congrats on developing such a nice game!
Sem tÃtulo.png
The idea is interesting, but i have little ability to control one player, two are almost impossible. It's a nice take on the theme however.
I think the graphics and audio could be a bit more polished, but the core mechanics that you propose are there and work nicely.
Good job!
So, it's a really difficult one, could not win at all even trying several times, but surely have fun doing. I liked the concept and the mechanics, as they are simple to understand and the controls respond very well. The graphics and sounds also are nice.
Dr. Jonathan could really pump his research up by hiring an assistent.
So i tested the HTML version and it run just fine (Chrome). Thanks for having one, it really easy up the process of playing and rating the games, and probably would drive more players to play your game due to avaibility.
The concept is very simple but it makes the game easy to understand, so it's a good thing. I liked the whole have to get out of the box to start playing, but find the game almost too easy. The sounds are funny.
I guess something like the scenario coming up and you have to keep up eating and not dying would increase the replayability of the game, but this is a jam and the time constraints are really cruel.
Congrats on finishing your second jam!
Really liked the aesthetics of the game, you must have really worked hard on this aspect. While the game is simple, it definitely fits the jam's theme. I was expecting a jump scare or something, but wasn't able to finish the game, sadly. In fact that is a good thing, i would not like a jumpscare.
Good job!
It truly does have an interesting twist on a garden maintenance game, replacing the plants by creatures. The unique visuals for every single creature makes them easily recognizable, making the game easier to understand.
My only complain is that the text is too small. That or i have to change my glasses.
Good job!
DAMN! That was my idea if the theme was "automation"! Really nice implementation, neat graphics, smooth gameplay. You could think of add in a future implementation the option of functions (small parts of code that you can call anywhere in the code) in order to reduce it and also for/while loops and if.
Really nice, i liked it a lot!
Whoa, that's probably the most different game i've seen in this jam. It has a nice mechanic, kinda remind me of go, and a have a nice time playing it against my friend. The sounds are very fitting. Congrats!
I liked of how it was simple but fun at the same time. The graphics and the music create a nice ambience and makes the gameplay a pleasant experience. It just get really repetitive quickly, but we are stuck in a loop, aren't we?
Couldn't finish a single lap but had so much fun with the voice acting. The controls are a bit clunky as well, but the idea is really nice. Good job on this entry!
I predicted that this ghost player kind of game would be popping a lot on this jam due to the theme, but i didn't exepct an actual ghost as player! Nice mechanics and graphics. The puzzles have a clever way to work and i find it cool, even being bad at puzzle games i managed to get through. Good job!
Whoa, it reminds me of Dirt Showdown. Nice idea and implementation. The mechanics work just great, it is just a little too hard to rotate the vehicle when it is stopped. I know it's more realistic this way but it makes the movement a little harder. Anyway, in 48h it's an amazing job!
I know it's innovative and it's supposed to be fun the wonky controls but i couldn't get the hang of them and didn't like them after all. I do in fact like the idea, just as the graphics and the audio in the game. Congrats on developing it in 48h with an innovative approach as well.
Really clever mechanic! I also dig the pixelated graphics and the sfx, just miss a fitting background music. It's really nice to play because it's simple to understand but (in my opinion) hard to beat. Excellent job!
Didn't understand at first but then i realize how it worked. I wish it has some more polishing in order to make it more attractive. Good job.
I played the jam version for the sake of making a jam review. Like other people said, i find it way too hard. Didn't actually progress in the game, just was surrounded by countless aliens each time i went anywhere. In the other way the graphics are really nice and the controls respond just as well. I also missed music and sfx, it could create a way better ambience in your game. Anyway, it's a nice job with the mechanics and aesthetics!
Well, i could play the game. I think the jump is a bit too powerful, but every other control seems to work fine. Other issue is that the music is too short and it gets annoying fast.
The jumping mechanics of the plataformer part is nice. Easy to understand but hard to master. It lacked sfx and a bit more polishing in the graphics, but it's still nice that you managed to deliver a working game in 48h. Congrats!
RPG in a nutshell. I guess if it have little messages as "Goblin killed", "Treasure recovered", "Princess saved" when you perform the actions it would be a little more fun, even if the messages are gamewise meaningless.
end.png
I made it!
The core concept is really nice. While it is a little intricated, it is also easy to grasp. I like it. The CTR distortion also creates a nice nostalgic vibe.
My only complain is the absence of sound. A chiptune like song would really improve the atmosphere of the game.
Excellent job on this entry!
Couldn't get even one bird, but seeing the comment section i realize i must be a terrible player.
The graphics and sound are on point and the game mechanics are very clever, even if i can't play it at all.
Excellent job guys!
Well, it's really impressive to see a 3D entry in compo. Well done!
Also, the controls are neat, responding very well. It's interesting that the trash bags are at a regular size in the intro dialog, but in the game they became huge. I think it is clever that they become active enemies and the lights go out, representing the antagonism towards the player as soon as he is supposed to do something.
Good job!
I guess after all these years you kinda expect a social background in a game from @jungle . Not that it is a bad thing. In fact it is interesting that you keep on bringing to light situations like the one in "The Bone's Line" through games.
Focusing exclusively in the game, i like the graphics and sounds. I'm not sure if i "like" the game's core mechanic of choicing in order to get through the line, but i can't really think of something different that you done. I fact, it's surprising that you can make a game based in such sad reality.
Congrats for one more jam!
Somehow i made it to the end!
end.png
While the graphics and sounds are really nice, and gave a nostalgic feel, i found the movement a bit odd. It seems like the character is too heavy and it slides a bit before stop, like it is over ice or something. The game is also a bit unfair in some rooms. You enter and don't even have time to dodge because the enemies and the projectiles are already over you.
However, even with the aspects i mentioned, it was a fun experience and it's nice to see a compo entry with several stages and a nice gameplay.
Good job on developing this game!
Very impressive concept. A bit creepy regarding the current situation of the world, but still a fun game. I think it lacked a soundtrack in order to complete the game's atmosphere, but the gameplay is still nice.
Congrats on developing this game!
Yay, managed to finish the game!
end.png
The concept of the game is very fitting for the jam theme, and while i find the player movement a little bit too slow, it works very well.
I expected more variety during the levels as well, but is understandable that within the time constraints of the jam it is nearly impossible. In any way, you delivered several levels and a complete game!
Congrats! Good job!
Wow, this is so much fun.
I really like games with "simple" concepts, few controls, but really hard mechanic to master. And this is one.
While the graphics are minimalistic as it gets, the visuals are very nice and the sounds enhance the atmosphere as well.
The only thing i found a bit annoying is the respawn time.
I tried the HTML5 version first and it is way too laggy to play. I recommend downloading for experiencing the game properly. Guess the HTML build can't really handle the post-processing effect, or my computer is a potato!
Excellent job on this game!
I guess your game name is wrong, it should be DIVE INTO THE SUN SIMULATOR!
Jokes apart, i liked the premise, but found the controls a bit clunky. When i understood how it worked and how to control the ship, i was able to play. Fighting the gravity is a bit harder than fighting the enemies, but it seems part of the premise.
Congrats on developing the game all by yourself!
Sem tÃtulo.png
Ok, my time was horrible, but i finished the game!
I never saw graphics like this, and it's really interesting that you took the theme not only for the scenario that keeps on getting more and more unstable, but as well for the stories of the misarable men.
I found the experience really different from all other games i tried in this jam, and i think that this is one of the most fun part of the event, the diversity of games that are produced and the oportunity to experience them all.
I find it really hard to play. While the idea behind is nice, i think that the controls could be a little easier as it comprimises the fun part of the game. The countdown would also be helpful, but regarding the time constraints of the jam it is understandable.
The sprites are nice, though, and while i find the crane control annoying, it really fits the jam theme.
Thanks @richard-baron @jungle @chesschaser @rafael-garcez @r3l0ad1 @cakts for playing! I checked every game that you guys made and commented my opinion on them!
@liamlb663 @cagibi @nethead the objective was to provide an inverse experience, when you must decide when to shoot and in most cases just flee. I'm sorry the experience was impaired by the shooting mechanics. Power-ups were considered, but the time restrictions made me choose for not implementing them.
@fluffy-kaeloky hey, always nice to hear from you, and as far as i know you were the first to beat the game! Congrats! I didn't really had enough time to do a decent game design, and i guess that the fact it works after 48h by myself is something. The original idea involved 9 stages, power-ups, different types of guns but you know, the time limit starts to make you remove several aspects of the game. I'm also sorry the game doesn't include frenchcore, my bad!
@fabdynamic thanks for the kind words and congrats on beating the game! I'm really happy you had a pleasant experience with my game!
@giulychu i included glowing when hitting and a little splash animations for the bullets when they hit something, and also audio feedback. I'm sorry it aren't enough. Can you give me some insight in how i can improve in future games these visual feedback?
+1 in humor just for the title.
I really apreciate games that allow me to just wreak havoc, and while it doesn't seems to be a particulary effective strategy here, it seems fun as well.
The graphics are quite simples, hoewver they work in the premise of the game. I also really dig the soundtrack (dum, dumdumdum, dumdumdum, dumdumdum!)
Had a great time stuck in level 9 just taking the block towers down and don't really caring about getting to the objective.
Congrats for the excellent job on this game!
I can hardly believe this game was made in 72 hours by two people. It's awesome!
While i find it a bit hard, i am also a terrible player. But the work is fenomenal. Different guns, enemies, levels and the amazing 2.5D perspective.
I can't really appoint any flaw.
Oustanding job guys! Thanks for mading this game!
Oh boy, this game is so much fun!
The mechanics are fun, the graphics are cool, the theme is present. Amazing!
I can't remember a single game from @shp that disappointed me so far.
Excellent job (again)!
bomb.png
Ha! Really nice! Not that i expected anything less from @fluffy-kaeloky , but this is the kind of thing that i really appreciate in Ludum Dare. Creative game mechanics that makes you try over and over until you finally get it.
The graphics are top notch, and while it's a bit hard sometimes to fit the parts together, it is part of the challenge. The clues are cleverly "hidden", and it's easy to graps what the game expects you to do. However, to do that it's a challenge.
I'm just disappointed that the radio didn't play frenchcore, but i can't even take points away in audio for that as you opted out.
Anyway, outstanding job guys. You just set the bar really high.
I find the ambience and idea for the game very fitting for the theme. The graphics are also nice, and it's quite impressive to design a level this big during the jam.
However, i found a bit difficulty finding where i am supposed to do the tasks (maybe it could include some hints as arrows, minimap or something) and after the first day no more tasks appeared for me. I don't know if this is a bug (tried the HTML5 version).
Good job on developing this game!
Ok, first of all, props for doing the artwork BY HAND! Im really impressed!
The idea fits nicely within the theme of the jam and the mechanics work well. It's kinda tricky to find the balance to stack up the animals, but that is the fun of the game.
The audio, while individually it's ok, in the whole piece seems a bit odd. While the atmospheric soundtrack is great and the chiptune style sfx are also good, they sound a bit weird together.
Anyway, excellent job!
Ok, your game has too much bugs. ba dum tss
The idea is clever (especially that game over screen that almost made me had a heart attack) and the sounds were really fun (ta dam!).
The only downside i see in the game is the start that are a bit slow. I was thinking in complain about the enemies standing still but oh boy, when they pack up the thing turn into a bullethell!
Good job!
Well, that's really fun and a far stretch from the theme... but i buy it!
It's just crazy and nonsense and you don't know what to do from the beggining. Pure chaos! I love it!
Liked the mechanics of the minigames, and also the music and graphics. All fitting for the concept.
Congrats on developing these games!
Really nice game!
Your concept is really neat, and it works like a charm in the game. Kinda remember my dog pulling the leash when we go for a walk, but i dont have a warhead and it stops smelling things each four steps.
Also, the art and souns are on point, and the comedic lines enhance the game experience. The only flaw i could find it's that the leash can go through walls and cars can pass over it, but it doesn't degrade the playing experience.
Excellent work!
While i think the idea has a lot of potential, the execution are a bit flawed.
Anyway, i think that the experience is knowledge. Congrats on commiting to the challenge and developing until the end!
Sem tÃtulo.png
Somehow i made it!
I really liked the artstyle and specially the audio. The music is very catchy!
The concept is interesting, however i didn't really understand what i was doing. It was some sort of try and error. I feel it lacked some hinting of what to do besides the output of the potions, as it consume the ingredients. Anyway, it was fun.
Good job on developing this game!
I really like this game. The experience is fun and fluid. This platform style with mouse point and shoot are really cool, reminds me of Abuse. And i really digged that game.
The pixelated graphics are particularly nice, creating a nice ambience.
My only complain is that there isn't enough blood.
Excellent job on this entry.
It's a fun take on the theme, and while it uses a simple mechanic, it is quite effective.
I just guess that the controls doesnt anwser as precise as it would be ok for a jumping based game, but i'm not the best player around and it is working in any way you look at it.
The graphics and sounds are quite simple, but perform well their role in the game.
Good job on making this game.
Thats quite the fun core mechanic in the game, however i don't think i'm smart enough to perform better combos by rotating the board.
Anyway, the controls work nicely and the concept is easy to grasp. I particulary think that the soundtrack is a bit too dark, but it fits somehow in the bigger picture.
Good job!
Tried to run and it required me to install .NET Core 3.1 Runtime. I downloaded and installed Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime - 3.1.19. After, it doesnt complain about the absence of the .NET Core 3.1 Runtime, however it wont run.
Interesting game.
It's quite the graphic work you put here, it really makes the game shine.
The mechanics are easy to understand, but a bit tricky when you actually play. I liked it.
Good job on developing this game!
Wow, the aesthetics are astonishing!
I was really pleased with the experience, the dynamic sounds whe you defeat an enemy or get an upgrade. Also, the core mechanic of the game works neatly.
My only complain is that the game is too short.
Aabsolutely impressed that you make this game by yourself in compo.
Outstanding job!
It is very tricky to understand how to play, even with the instructions. I guess the main problem is that the spawner tile is not visible in the first screen, the screen seems cutted and there are a lot other blue squares.
I think the main aspects that should be considered are the difficulty of understanding the concept (which affects the user game experience, and may make some players just quit) and the graphic part, which seems by the comments that other people had the screen cut.
Anyway, it's a path of constant study and progress. Congrats on developing a strategy game within the time constraint of the jam. It certainly wasn't easy.
I don't have enough coordination to play this game. It's too fast and to keep up with the mixing and using the potion. When i am able to finish a potion i also am already dead.
That said, the concept is interesting, i'm just sad i can't keep up with the game's pace.
Really nice submission for a first jam!
The concept is really nice and works very well. I think it could be a little more polished, as the jumps when the mass are really low are way too high, but it works properly so it's not a nuisance in a jam game.
Also, congrats on developing multiple levels that explore particular aspects of the core mechanic.
Good job!
You have quite the interesting concept here. It seems that it is quite more enjoyable playing with a friend than against the computer, as the AI seems to choose randomly.
Congrats on developing this game.
I guess when i saw the theme "Unstable" i immediatly though that many games would use the concept of stacking things. However, you guys did in such a way that it become very fun to play.
The graphics are really impressive and i enjoyed the mechanics as well. Often i see games that rely on this kind of concept and have clunky controls, which here, gladly, are not the case.
The only downside i see is the "finding" system. While the arrows point at where the persons are in danger, when they are in the field of view, the arrows disappear and in many cases i don't even see the person. However, it's a really minor problem that don't affect the game experience that much.
Congrats on developing this game!
I ferried 30 bears only putting one bear at a time and found no prejudice in letting them go alone, beign large or tiny.
The concept is neat, but i guess it lacks something. The higher waves didn't seem to affect the boat enought to make the boat sink (or didn't i play enough?)
Anyway, i found the graphics nice and the "evolving" music a nice addition to the game. Also, didn't know you could get a bear ferry license! Good one.
Nice job developing this game!
Whoa. Over the top graphics and mechanics.
I really liked the concept and the execution is really nice. Probably belonging to a select group where the clunky controls are expected and appreciated.
Excellent job on this entry!
10/10 horror movie intro
Really enjoyed the graphics and the atmosphere. I am wondering if the controls are purposedly clunky for maximize the fun of the game (it kind adds challenge) and i'll assume that's the case. I just am sad that after that intro i don't control the scarecrow from hell.
Excellent entry.
Whoa, that was a really nice entry.
I found everything really nice and polished, from the mechanics to the graphics and the sounds. But what i found most interesting is that the concept is easy to understand and doesn't need tutorials and such.
Excellent job!
I'm not really into text based games, but this seems really nice.
The art and sound really sets the ambience of the experience and i'm amazed at the amount of content you produced, even with the Junie part incomplete. Also, nice touch with the wiggling letters to catch the attention to the details!
Congrats!
I found a few issues while playing.
The art seems inconsistent, being the player, the enemies and the background done in different styles. Also, i particullary think that the shooting could continue on it's own rate as the mouse button keep being pressed, not requiring to click in every shoot.
In the other way, it's a nice twist to the harvest theme, playing as the harvest, not the harvester. The main character "dance" is something nice as well.
I really enjoyed the artstyle and overall idea.
I just found the music and the gameplay a little too repetitive, maybe it could have a way to fight back the missiles or request to take specific humans to the mothership, but i understand that given the jam timeframe it is really complicated.
Also, i think it has a bug that allows you to go underground for some reason.
Other than that, good job!
Liked the use of 2D sprites over 3D scenario. I felt that the controls are a bit clunky, but it doesn't make the game unplayable. I am only concerned with the chicks staying in the love bed while the rooster and the hen are there doing their business! Also, nice that the chicks are buffed as their father.
Good job!
There seems to be a problem in the html5 version. I couldn't play the web version, it stayed stuck on title screen.
However, i downloaded the standalone version and it worked fine. Really appreciated the retro graphics and sounds, which were fitting for the game purpose. Also, while the movimentation style through the platforms (which i expected some jump from one to another and if you fall you die) seemed odd for a moment, in no time it becames natural.
Congrats for the game!
404 on itch.io
I'm not much of a puzzle player, but the game does have an interesting concept. I just think it could give the mechanics little by little instead of dumping information right at the beggining, but i don't see how it would be possible given the time frame of the jam and the quantity of concepts you introduced.
COngrats on developing such complex game in a short time!
I really enjoyed the artstyle. It brought me back twenty years or so. Also the sfx are really fitting with the taunts "GET AWAY FROM MY COMBINE" and "HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW".
Sadly, the controls felt a bit clunky, i guess maybe because it was running in a browser. Maybe a standalone version wouldn't have the problems of the cursor going out of the screen and such. Also, i got found a bug when i first entered the upgrade menu and the grame wouldn't allow me exiting it.
Great entry. Congrats!
Liked the idea and the mechanics, even not managing to win a single match. Nice job.
Found it really hard, but maybe it's because i suck at stealth games. I guess it would be a nice addition if you could have some hiding spots in the middle.
Liked the idea of indirect combat, gives a whole new approach to the game. Nicely done, specially the audio effects, congrats!
Really liked the concept and execution! Congrats!
Nice idea! Its a bit hard to track the cards, escape from ghosts with better hands but it is fun anyway.
Really liked the idea, a classic with a twist. Just think it laked some nice music.
Stuck in the third level, not my kind of game. It's a hard puzzle with interessing mechanics but i think it lacks something to be better.
Liked the concept and the easiness to get used to controls. Congrats!
Man, seems like you forgot some data, i got this error message:
There should be 'Soccer Shoot 'Em Up_Data' folder next to the executable
The idea is pretty neat and concise with the jam theme, but the guys didn't stop spawning! Couldn't make a goal.
Find it really hard. Could not pass of the first pipe. :(
When i open it, it plays sounds and music but the screen is all black.
It was a nice idea to mix the two genres but the alien sounds are very annoying. Also, took me a while to understand the mechanics of which building procudes what, where they should be placed and the order to built. In fact, i had to restart the game several times because i was stuck with no crystals.
Where are the links?
The mechanics are great.
Liked the idea and the mechanics but mostly the audio. Nice job!
Now that was something nicely done.
Really liked the concept, was very inovative. I find that when you exit via the right side sometimes the character disappears and dont return anymore and was a little catchy to get use of the jumping mechanics, but overall it was a pleasant experience.
Really nice concept!
The ships wreckage keep killing me! Nice and fun!
Nice sounds and concept, really entertaining!
Nicely done graphics and mechanics. fire fire fire fire fire fire fire fire fire!
Link is broken man. 404 We couldn't find your page.
It took me a bit to understand the controls of the ship but after that it was smoothly. Nice dialogs.
Liked the dialogs but couldnt really understand the game, it was like lucky guesses and here we go.
Really nice implemented. Inovator concept and easy to understand and play controls. Very nice job indedd.
@pahlsoftware, @shoj92, @supertibbles, @aaronacus, @akanthaur, @nash, @selftitled, @matthew-roelle, @fashionbatman sorry for the messy controls, i did what i could with the time given in order to deliver something. I really apreciate your feedback!
@-FA- : That's the spirit!
Thansk @ditzel, im not quite the artist.
Thanks for the feedback @john-darrington and sorry for the messy controls.
Thanks for the kind words @colin-misbach. It does not really have any sound effects, only the music. At first i though in narrating and adding sounds for kicking and attacking but due to time limitations it was not possible.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions @drludos and @Call_me_Nutty . I am figuring out yet what to do from now on but i appreciate you taking your time to play this game.
Nice idea. Wasn't abble to hold on alive for very long on the game but the concept is cool and easy to understand.
Runs really smooth, congrats.
Nice concept and congrats for implementing an RTS in 48h.
THIS IS SO MUCH FUN! THAT THAT YOU b BASTARDS!
A bit of a challenge to get used to the movement of the ship, but overall nicely done.
Nice executed. Died laughing at the sound effects!
Now that's something that went with the theme by heart. And im impressed you managed to make this kind of theme work. However, i think some insights in what would be a good message and what not would be nice, i couldn't really tell what was and what wasn't a good message. Nice jokes by the way.
Now that was really fun!
Liked the concept but could really come up with a strategy to dodge the big meteor. Made it once, by luck i guess.
Cool! Very easy to understand and with a nice concept!
The concept was very interesting and it had a flawless execution but i personaly find very hard to coordenate the action in the platform and the color rhythm part at the bottom. I really dont know how to point a way to correct this or maybe im just a lousy player.
Anyway, congratulations on the game!
Really good. Liked the physics.
Now that was amazing. Nice mechanics, graphics and idea. Also, nice way to introduce the controls, really well done.
