Wow. This game is incredibly deep and heartbreaking. The beautifull art and music really takes you inside the game. Wonderfull.

Wow. This game is incredibly deep and heartbreaking. The beautifull art and music really takes you inside the game. Wonderfull.
That's some dark stuff. But the graphics are awesomely well done.
That was a truly disturbing experience, I felt a chill run down my spine when hearing the woman cry ! I really liked the art style, that scratchy, Time Burton feel ! Damn those two endings were horrific ! All in all, a unique LD entry...
The art and music and the mood of the game is great
Haven't been able to try it yet, but the style looks awesome !
Good aestethics:exclamation: ..However, Animations are near non-existent, and the game would have been better with more things to do, Because it's soo.. linear at the moment.
woooooo ! its hard :/ Really cool message, but hard one.
Wow you nailed the emotional response with the art style. The music choice could be better, though. All in all this is the first special experience I've had this jam. Good job!
That was crazy!!!
@raquelosa @yozamu @leonard @hugmugi7 @velocity7 @noa-calice @derek-volker @bluewingtitan Woh! Thank you all! I'm so proud of make you feel something! :'3
The transitions are a little slow, and I can still move after being eaten, but a very interesting & important topic to explore. Naturally, I rebelled! Power to the people!
Very nice art and audio! I wish there was more to do in the game.
The art style looks good, but everything else just couldn't hold up with the standard the art style has set. Still a nice entry
Very beautiful art!!! Very good game!!
I absolutely love the art! Writing could've used some work, but it reminded me of Fran Bow, another great jarring visual game!
Hi there! Like everybody else already said, art is simply stunning. Music didn't really fit with the mood the rest of the game conveyed (that could just be my personal taste though).
I liked your take on the theme but you might have put too many tough decisions in just a couple of seconds. I feel that slower transitions (with something else to do/explore/say) could make your message more powerful.
Last note, some additional window/interface/background for the text would come in handy, it was a bit hard to read.
Congrats on choosing to do something different and finishing it! Glad to see stuff like this on a jam :-)
@ludipe
Hola Ludipe!
Creepy and psycho game. This art is diffenret but looks great :) Handmaded graphics it's not often not only in jams :)
Gameplay is overall depresive so I must play it again and try finish tomorrow when will be sunny :)
Man this is an incredible game, seriously Im loving it
Love the artstyle and those creepy creepy SFXs <3 Great job!
Great atmosphere, because of the very nicely done graphics and audio. I found myself replaying it to find out what different endings there are. Solid submission!
I admire the graphics in your game. It's very sad though. :(
I found the controls a bit weird since I'm used to either a mouse or a keyboard in a point and click game. The graphics is awesome and the theme is important, but I don't think it really fits the theme of a jam, and the lack of different possibilities kinda disappointed me (only two endings that I found and things not changing much aside from the end picture), but I really appreciated artwork, idea and the theme.
Your graphics are really incredible ! But I was not fond of the ambiance of the game, perhaps a bit too creepy for me.
Nice art, sadly didn't get audio on macOS/chrome. The transitions take a bit long, I wish the game play was longer and all the pieces would match the art in quality terms. Bold theme selection.
Good job, I really like the art! Sorry for a short comment, I'm a game artist and mostly I can only comment about art :D
The art and the ambiance are stunning! The message is a bit depressive but well convey. Good job!
Love the art and the creepy-ish ambiance.
My opinin. The game it's good, howeever it's not enough **gameplay**. Art is awesome, audio too. Level transations are too long. I think this style it's better suited on interactice comick book (wich it's esentyali the same, just with another name). Overall, I enjoyed, thank you.
Well I don't know what to say...
The art is really cool, I liked it a lot.
The game is quite short and there is not much you can do in it so this is a minus. I also don't understand which two genres you were mixing, for me it looks like some kind of adventure game. And the most strange thing for me is the fact that you created a game about clearly unhappy couple where a man is a murderer and called it a "game about gender violence" which, I guess, means that men are bad. I tried to enjoy your game, I really did, but I just din't know how to react to this message. I think better description would be "game about domestic violence".
The problem is this doesn't really feel like a game to be honest, even though the art and the music is amazing for sure. Maybe you can add more in terms of gameplay.
The art is lovely, very Tim Burton like :)
I would totally play a full surreal adventure game with this style of art and gameplay!
Great graphics.But in both ways ending was sad.
I'm glad I found this game! I saw you working on it at ESNE and I didn't want to miss the oportunity to play it!
It's quite disturbing to play this, but I like the idea a lot. It remembers me of "Papo y yo", that uses the idea of depicting the abusive father (although here is her husband) as a terrible monster.
I was expecting a bit more of "exploration" in the room. It'd be cool that some objects in the kitchen would explain the background of this toxic relationship, how it begun and how it evolved to become this nightmare.
Nice concept and REALLY nice art, congrats!
This is a powerful take on the theme. Games that explore and expose human real issues should have more strength in the community. The art is gorgeous, and the idea is neat. As said above, I would have loved to be able to interact with the environment a little bit more, it could have been a good opportunity to reinforce the theme even further. BUT, absolutely amazing job!
My best congratulations for you work.
Graphics are outstanding, and I love it's dark mood.
It took me a while to understand that _I have to click buttons to make choices, I thought they were part of the story...
Test mine here if you want https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/heaven-and-earth
Nice graphics, lot of dark emotions, well chosen sounds effects. The gameply is very basic, a bit too simple, you could have done more choices, more rooms, more animations,... But still a good job.
:open_mouth: WTF did I just play! Great art style and mood, but man is it a little messed up. I got both endings. Can't say either of them were particularly happy endings. Very solid jam entry. Good stuff :8ball:
This art is beautifull but it is quite short, but still very impressive for 72 hours!
I'm digging the option that you can have 2 endings. I'm retrying now to try obataining the other ending.
Great work. Please also check out my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/flaptris-flappy-bird-tetris
@blinkenlights @el-pepi @king-kujito @mrsnakeyohoho @crystalitar ty all for playing our game! We are so happy that u liked the art <3
@hadik ty! I hope u enjoy the other end too ^^
Art (as everyone else said) is really great and fitting style for a such dark game. Being so short game I wish there would be more animation or something happening on the screen. You know your asked “scrub the shit” and kitchen looks pristine, maybe some tiny smear on the wall or have her on all fours scrubbing floor. Build up unfairness and bad treatment. Gameplay was simple enough, but moving around felt almost pointless. You could have just scripted her movements according the players choices, since movement is only there to activate next event. Choices themself felt bit pointless too, as there was only two(?) possible outcomes. Also as pointed earlier text was kinda hard to read, some sort background could make it more legible.
@jesus-fermin-villar @kultisti @lexi thank u very much!! I am very happy that u loved it \(^o^)/
Lovely art style. Good job! :D
@surley @shae @idikit thank u! Our artist is great <3
@time-loop thank u for feedback! We will improve for the next jam ^^
@papykent Thanks for the support :D the message is a little bit agressive but we want you to keep in mind the situation in 5 min of gameplay so we get a little bit hard
@cbgp thanks for the support :v:
@tomeks ty ^^!We wanted the transitions to be as long as the audio :P
@dumivid thanks! Its our first jam, so we could not do more, but we will do it better in the next jam!
@jima @arqcenick @tuomo thank u for the feedback! It's our first jam, so we have a lot to do, but we will improve for the next <3
@facepalmpt @human @oddballdave thank u!<3 in one of the endings you are free because u kill him. The opposite happens in the other end!
@elhombrebanana ohh thank u very much for the feedback!! It's our first jam so we are so happy that u liked it <3. By the way, ur tips has been very useful
@sndr thank u!!We are so happy that u liked it <(^o^)>
@guy-withivy @drazhaar @mazzletov @meskaline thank u for feedback! <3
@elhombrebanana Thanks you for your opinion and your tips, they are very usefull! We hope to use them for the next up date of the game <3 See you in ESNE (por favor no sabemos quien eres saludanos xDD)
Buen trabajo gente! Saludos de gente de ESNE!
@nicolas-tapia muchas gracias! <3
Well, nothing new here: The art is quite beautiful, but it's a bit too short. I would have loved to see a few more choices and consequences. The text was sometimes really hard to read.
@szabe thank you for the feedback! :3
Amazing job on the art side, both graphics and musics are excellent ! The game is more like an interactive story though.
@solnak Thank you for the feedback! If we had had more time to do the game, we would have made more playable content... But who knows, maybe in the future...
I love the art, it's very personal and transmits very well the emotions you want to show. I was looking forward to play it more but the end was very fast 😥
Congrats!
Loved the art and the mood of the game! As a personal thought i felt that the music didn't quite fit the overall of the game.
And gameplaywise, i would have liked to have more of an interaction than two simple actions when choosing to obey, (Which i think weird, that when i'm able to play is when i make the "wrong" choice)
Above it all i think that its a great entry with deep message! I enjoyed playing your game! :D
Played through twice for both endings. The art was amazing and I really liked how you made the husband an actual monster. This game had great potential for exploring the horrors of domestic abuse. But only potential. Killing your husband or killing yourself is the only solution? I get that it was a jam and you didnt have time to make a masterpiece, but I felt like more thought could've been put into the plotlines. Also I didn't really get which two genres you were combining?
Anyway other than that the game was pretty cool, and I commend you for picking such a heavy subject. More games should try that. Good job :).
@markram thank u for the feedback! <3 I wish we had more time, anyway, we did our best
Lovely graphics, great meaning. I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXJupUD8gt4
I really don't think that this is a good aprroach for a social issue like this. Don't get me wrong, I love to see videogames brave enough to speak about things like this (congrats about that), but it needs to be done with a lot of caution. It's easy to give out a wrong message despite having good intentions. And, in my opinion, this is one of those cases.
Ok this one is depressing, but certainly opens some themes and the Art is really top notch. Good job.
Love the art style. Deep theme. Great job
I wish there were more choices and things to do against this horrible husband. Giving him the beer in his face, trying to scrub him when he asks for the shit to be scrubed and finally look for that one knife to kill him...
The graphics are incredible and I love how you represent that man that is no longer a man but an enormous monster.
GJ! nice theme. Are you going to polish and add more content?
@latrabili-noctu @ryunos Thanks for the feedback, we know that, but we thougth that the best way to transmit the idea in the short duration of the game, and the short time we had to do it, was make it black or white. I mean we know that the only two exits of a relationship like that are not kill youtself or kill your husband. But those options are the most impressive and those that will most mark you. Thank you for give your opinion!
@jin9310 @samuelsousa Thanks a lot!! We really appreciate your possitive comments 💙 All the feedback is making us very happy!!
@bitsandcrafts Thank you!!💙💜 We are balancing that idea, you are loving the game and the negative comments are fault of our fault of time to do the game so... Maybe in a future you would play a full version of "Him & I"!
Great art and mood! As disturbing as the issue it tries to depict. It felt a bit simplystic, both mechanic and narratively though, I'd love to see what you guys can come up with using more interesting mechanics that clicking on buttons. Think crazy!
Also I believe you fell for a "language trap", as in spanish "genre" and "gender" use the same word? Anyway, theme should be an inspiration, not a constraint, so good work there!
Wow, beautiful gfx + audio and the theme is very ambitious. I think a bit more variety in the choices and the outcomes would have been good, it seems like there are just two straight roads that lead either to murder or suicide. I guess you did that on purpose to underline the graveness of the matter, but personally i think less extreme points would have made ppl think even more, as i personally think the biggest problem in those situatins are the grey zones where things are not so obvious and clear, in the scenario you present the abuse is very obvious. Maybe a game with different scenes where the 'player' has to evaluate the situation more and reflect more on the actions
Art style is neat, although the text does blur into the background. I'm not sure how "incompatible" the genres are here but great job tackling a tough topic here in the jam!
The art is impressive, but I found the game very short and virtually without gameplay.
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/witchs-escape
The idea, design and music are brilliant. However, I think the game lack some indicators ((re)start the game, confirmation that your action is done...) and would benefit some developpement, like more choices and more endings.
