Nice entry :)
It's kinda hard to aim when using the shaman. I have found myself facing the skeletons (which come at me real fast) and shooting but failing. The only way to hit them properly is by using the keyboard. Maybe you could use the mouse position not only for rotating the camera, but for aiming purposes as well?
Nice little game! I took me several attempts to actually figure out what was going on, though. It could be nice to have some more examples on the instructions.
I really love the graphics of this game! The gameplay is quite relaxing, but also requires focusing.
I got 10 rings in total before deciding that it was time to go to bed :)
Nice entry! I really like the theme idea!! :), although at the beginning I found it a little bit hard to figure out whether I was doing the right thing or not.
I loved the artstyle and the touch of humour!
I would have loved being able to kick asses in that kawai form as well. :P
I love how the theme was used here. The art is soooo neat and the music sets a really good mood. This is a really nice jam entry!
Great entry! It was enjoyable and not as hardcore as other shooting games. The difficulty curve still would need some adjustment, but I think that it is in a very good spot!
Nice entry!
The graphics look really neat and I really enjoyed the combos mechanic. I don't know why but I always like combos in games. :P
This is a lovely game. I loved the soothing atmosphere it sets you into. :)
Cool little game! Nice mechanics and very cute graphics! :)
The artstyle and music create an awesome mood. I love the world that you created. I enjoyed being greeted by a bunch of creepy horse-heads, haha.
After getting both the bear and the wolf powers, and killing the few enemies I found on my way, couldn't find what else I was supposed to do and I think that I got to explore the whole map. I guess it could be nice to have a little bit more guidance on what should the player be trying to do next. :)
This is a really nice game! It felt so short! I wanted more! :)
I loved the mechanic were you have to get hurt in order to go back to a previous form. If you ever do a longer post-LD version of this game, please make sure to add this mechanic more often. It feels really elegant!
One tiny thing, though. This part where there were loads of spikes under some blocks and you had to shoot in order to turn on a switch, if you fall just once, there is no way you can go back and retry, but you don't immediately die either. So it creates a weird situation where you basically have to hurt yourself several times on purpose in order to respawn in the last checkpoint. I think it feels strange, but maybe that's what you wanted.
Anyway, loved it! :)
Interesting idea! It's quite impressive that you were able to do all that in those 72 hours, with all those other things going on around you.
Sometimes it was kinda hard to see where I was going, though, hehe.
I really loved this game! Smooth gameplay, fun, awesome graphics, great animations! 5 stars!
I really like the concept behind this, and how the theme was used! :) I would say, though, that the controls were a little bit hard to use, but overall, nice entry!
I liked how you used the shapelifting theme to build a stealth mechanic, different from the others that I've seen so far. If you were to work on this further on, some real interesting puzzles could arise! :)
I liked this much more than I was expecting!! Relaxing and entertaining at the same time.
Excellent storytelling, nice music and I loved the character drawings. I wished there were more. Maybe in the post-LD version? :P
Very enjoyable! Very smooth animations and easy to grasp core mechanic! I like how the difficulty scales, it's hard enough for it to be fun but not extremely hard for it to be frustrating! Nice entry!! :)
This is the kind of game that looks quite hard at the beginning, but then you start getting used to the mechanics and it becomes less hard (still hard, though)
I might be wrong, but I felt like one of times I had to restart a level, it was completely impossible to get to the next one. But I died a lot, so maybe I was just being bad at it.
As said above, music should be more energetic to accompany the good vibe of the game. :)
Whoa! I really like how you interpreted the theme! :) Loved this!!!
Very nice entry!! I really enjoyed the overall feel, and the core game mechanic was really neat! :)
Nice mechanic! I think it could be improved with some further balancing, but so far it was very enjoyable! Nice entry!
Great, great game! Loved the alien, the mechanic, the art, the music..! :) Awesome!
This was a lovely litte game! It left me wanting more. Maybe using that money to get upgrades, or more tools being introduced to make more kinds of biscuits!
You should defenitely grow this!
Scored 3000 points! It was nice to play a relaxing physics game!
I really like the idea behind this! The game mechanic is quite enjoyable and the pixel art is wonderful!
I like the concept of shapeshifting every 30 seconds, and that affecting your abilities.
It still needs some polishing for jumping/aiming and stuff, but with a little bit more of hours put in, it could be a good platformer/puzzle game :)
I found it very entertaining! I really enjoy this kind of games. And the new difficulty equation plays nicely, I had a nice time. :)
As others already said, controls feel maybe too slippery, but the concept behind it and the screen rotation thing is pretty nice! :)
I got to score 2273! :) I'm feeling kind of dizzy but it was fun!
The artstyle was real nice and I enjoyed that game mechanic!
(My eyes still hurt! :/)
Liked the quotes! Final score: 380
There were a couple of them that I couldn't figure out so I just kept trying until one of them matched. :P
It could be nice if difficulty scaled up. It seemed kinda random. But overall, nice game! I had a good time!
I like the core mechanic! This could evolve into a very interesting game! :)
A tiny comment, though: It would be nice if you could tweak little bit the controls so that they are slightly more comfortable to use. Arrows, E, and JKL seem kinda weird, at least in my keyboard (english)
Nice concept!
I got to lvl 3 and I think that the game bugged... or maybe I'm doing something wrong. The first column of silhouettes keeps moving no matter what I do. Pressing the space bar doesn't change a thing. :/ Maybe you'd like to have a look at that.
Anyway, up until lvl3, I really enjoyed the challenge!
Nice concept! I quickly grasped the core mechanic and enjoyed the game!
Nice game! I think it's a nice idea to link the match-3 on one side to the shapeshifting character on the other. :) (It could be pretty awesome if the game had a shapeshifting particular goal that you had to achieve by getting certain potions)
I also think that this game still it's not in its full potential. I'd like to see it evolve.
Btw, it was extremely hard for me to kill the bathroom man. I even laughed hard at seeing how clumpsy I was being. :P
Love the artstyle, animations and overall gameplay. I liked details such as that the rabbit form only jumps, so that A and D keys can't be used on their own!
On the other hand, I would say that some of the sections are a little bit difficult.
The feel is fantastic and I absolutely loved the slow-mo mechanic. I think it's a brilliant simple idea and you protrayed it beautifully. :)
Nice shapeshifting mechanic! I like how the player has to keep switching between the two forms in order to increase the success chances.
As a side note, I think that you could balance the game so that it is not only better to switch, but necessary in order to succeed. I think that it is possible to beat the game with only the witch form (although it is more difficult).
Nice little game!!!
I have to admit it took me a while to figure out the goal of each level. I initially thought that I had to exactly match the green shape and I spent like 10 minutes quite frustrated because I though I was matching it exactly but I was not getting to level 2, lol.
Then I just tried clicking forever on the branches, and voilà! Next level. From then on, I simply enjoyed!
The art and background maths animation suits the theme perfectly and the mechanics are pretty smooth :)
It gave me the creeps, that's for sure. :) Well done!
I loved what you did with the 2D in 3D, btw.
I really liked the graphics, they look awesome! The sir-eggplants look so good! I had fun but it took me a while to figure out what to do, LOL. Nice use of the shapeshifting mechanic.
I also have to say that it becomes a little bit confusing to be told that it is the wrong door, even though it increases the score.
Good game and lovely pixel art! Maybe it becomes too repetitive at some point, but it has potential!
I really love the core game mechanic. Simple, but leads to complexity at the same time. It's very elegant :)
The aesthetics are very neat and suit the theme perfectly. Nice entry!
It's pretty hardcore on easy mode and there is a danger that the player might get frustrated very early on the game, but the concept is really cool! A little bit of balancing would make it even better! :)
I like the graphics and music as well. Good mood.
Omg, I simply love this game! I love this pixel art style! Plus those thug life endings are just hilarious and really get the two players in the mood for another round!
Those Phat Fishes are getting five stars!
The perspective sometimes turns to be a little bit tricky, but nice overall game! I liked how the shapes were used for both going through the gates and picking up items on the way! :)
Really nice idea! The graphics look really good! I think that the shapeshifting menu access should be sped up, but I really like the overall feel! :)
I enjoyed this! I loved the mechanic (maybe a little bit too fast at the beginning? It could work if it started slower and got faster), the artstyle and the reptilian politician setting. :)
I like the mechanic underneath the game, but it's really hard to play.
I guess the enemies are spawned randomly, because it can get very messy very early on the game. I would suggest that you balance that if you do any post-LD version. :)
Cool entry :) The art is very nice!
Sometimes the animations overlap with other actions, but overall, looks good!
I don't know why but I get this message: "The author of this game has uploaded an invalid file and the game is currently unavailable." :( I really really would like to play this game. The art looks so lovely!
Nice entry! I really loved the graphics! That pixel art style mixed with 3D was really awesome! :)
Nice little game! Quite challenging for my fingers, but had fun!
The art is amazing!! It looks very polished! I like how you used the theme here, and the gameplay looks quite interesting. Nice entry!
I enjoyed the play and the last level was so fun!
It was nice the way you set the mood and how well it matched the artstyle. :)
I loved how you did this theme! So entertaining! I was surprised in a very positive way when I saw that not only humans, but sofas and chairs could also be shapeshifted!
I really loved how you used the colors to build the puzzles. This mechanic is awesome! :)
One tiny thing: as @aberdeenphoenix said, it would be great to be able to know which colors are on or off.
I simply loved it! I played for quite a long time and I enjoyed every minute. It still needs some balancing, but you're getting five stars anyway.
Also, I loved to see that Drive reference in the intro. :)
Really beautiful work! I love the aesthetics, the gameplay is smooth and the theme was very well portrayed! :)
Very nice and clever puzzles! I like how it wasn't needed any text to explain the mechanics. They explained by themselves. :)
Cool concept! I wish there were more levels! :)
Hey! I wanted to play your game, but I wasn't able to run it! Lots of browsers do not have the option to run Unity Web Player (I have already tried with Chrome, Firefox and Explorer), and it's not being supported on most of the versions. I would suggest you to either build to PC/Mac/Linux as well, or to do the upgrade for the new WebGL version of Unity.
Nice mechanic! It plays smoothly. I really enjoyed the gameplay (played in single-player)!
Nice entry! You designed a very interesting puzzle mechanic!, although it took me a while to find out what the goal was despite reading the instructions. I think that you should graphically state that in a more clear way.
The controls and goal of the game were quite confusing. Also, the movement of the character is quite funky. It takes a while since you press the key and the character starts moving.
Spent a long time but couldn't get past the first few blocks, lol. I think the core mechanic has lots of potential, but I guess there should be a little bit of balancing over there. :P
I think it's a cool concept and the gameplay could really work. It has potential!
Nice one! I like how you used the theme here :)
Thanks for your thoughts, @glaze_96 :) I'm glad you got to the end!
I realized that the game can get to a boring point after a while, but it was too late to try to fix it. :(
I guess the game needs some interactivity and more things going on while the player is exploring the dungeon, looking for the book. I'll work on that on my post-LD version.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, @EdoMiyamoto! Thanks! :)
Yeah, you were actually supposed to go through that body part. I tried to add some cloth physics to make it more obvious but I don't know why I didn't get the desired visual effect and it ended looking as if you were just going through a pink wall.
Thanks for the feedback, @SeaMonsterGD. I have to say that I tried to add animations to the body parts. I had a pounding heart, but I wasn't able to import it properly into Unity, and decided that I had to use my time to more important parts of the game. I will do that in the future, for sure. :)
Thanks for the feedback, guys!
@Jimjam, I am aware of some of those things, and I will definitely have your feedback in mind when I work on my post-LD version. Regarding the music, I wasn't fully convinced, but that was the best track that I could get from abundant-music.com. I didn't want to leave the game without any background music. :P Also, I think the music should change to a tense-chasing mood when you get the book and the countdown starts... but 48 hours are 48 hours
I think it's really elegant and creative the way you use shapeshifting here as a mechanic! I've found several games where the new shape is different from the previous one, with a new set of skills, while what you do here requires the player to switch from one form to another in a certain moment, so that you use skills from both forms during the transition. One nice example is when the moving ball shapeshifts into the rectangle and that gives the rectangle some kind of pole vault movement.
I really loved that the shapelifting mechanic can be used both for shapelifting unconscious beings and for making them unconscious and then shapelifting. It's very elegant and well thought!
I would really like to see this turned into a full game! Very good job! You're getting 5 stars!! :)
This is a really cool & fun concept! As you already said, it does need some balancing cause it's pretty hardcore right now, but even though, I really enjoyed the session!
Nice music and graphics, btw! I like the overall style!
"Parents are mad because some of their children are coming home with weird transformations" lol
I managed to knock out a couple of guys on the bathrooms without anyone noticing, and after knocking out a third one, a man appeared out of nowhere and suddenly everyone was with the exclamation points. Hehe, it was kinda fun. :) I like the espionage concept.
On the other hand, once you have acquired someone else's appearance, it's not very clear what should you try to do then. I tried going to the servers and maybe stealing some information, but nothing happened. :/
It is quite hard to play, I guess it needs a little bit of balancing but I really like the core idea behind it!
Somehow the speed of the enemies and the fact that the boomerang doesn't always come back is what builds that difficulty. Maybe you can make one of those two easier.
I loved the graphics, the gameplay, the characters... amazing entry! :) Thanks for the play!
Great mechanic and the cutest character! :)
Would be an awesome mobile/tablet game!
Nice entry! I enjoyed the poetry ride more than I thought I would! :)
Really loved the art style and overall feel! The game, though, is quite hard :)
Nice core mechanic! For this kind of game I guess it should be nice to have some kind of score, so that you can try to improve your highest one. :)
Awesome! The visuals and audio are great and the mechanic is just fantastic! I really had a good time playing it. It was hard, but that kind of hard that you can enjoy.
It is true, though, what @Hyoga-3D said about the diagonals. They are sometimes confusing. Maybe you could make the virus be able to mutate diagonally too by selecting two keys instead of one (WA, WD, SA, SD)?
Hard but funny mechanic! Very kawai artstyle!
Nice little game! I like this puzzle mechanic! Easy to grasp, simple, but that can be used to build complex puzzles :)
Nice game! Gorgeous artstyle! :)
Great, great game! Loved how you used the theme! The pulp artstyle was fantastic and the mechanics were really enjoyable. 5 stars, there you go! :)
Really nice entry! I like the flow, the game was very enjoyable.
Tiny thing: after getting to level 3 and not being able to collect any more souls, I got to a point where I didn't know what to do, until I saw that dock. ;) Maybe it would be nice to tell that to the player somehow.
I love how it's simple mechanics yet deep. Those are the good kind! :) Positively surprised that you decided to go for a strategy game for the theme. Nice entry!
I really liked the idea behind the core mechanics of this game, an interesting resource management puzzle emerging from those. It was a relaxing and soothing playthrough, and I found myself enjoying balancing the universe, the astronaut and the trading, which fed into each other quite nicely.
The overall ambience, the assets and the audio work very well together. Special mention to the tiny pixel art assets, which I loved. All of them: the sprites, the little planets, the character! Great job here!
Oh wow, I wish the transparency would have worked on my machine. Unfortunately it didn't, but I did play it for a while nonetheless and I could see the potential. It's cute, it's engaging, and OH WHY didn't I get the transparency! Such a neat implementation and a really interesting take on the theme.
Very well implemented, both visuals, audio and story create an interesting world.
Story AND pets? Yes, please! Lovecraft influence? Even more yes! Overall, really cool entry!
This is a really cool game! Puzzles are interesting and the mechanics work, there's depth to the elements you've brought into the table. The difficulty ramps up nicely. Overall, game design - wise is very good :) Assets and sound work nicely, and I love the orc assets being used in the message boxes
Main piece of feedback is that there should be a button that allowed you to tell the goblin to just go til the end, without you having to keep pressing "Next turn".
Pretty cool puzzle you have there, with interesting mechanics! :) Difficulty ramped up quite fast, but I had fun nonetheless. :)
Found the game a bit unforgiving, but I guess that's the whole point! :see_no_evil:
Overall, I am impressed! The visuals and audio work really well together, and create a nice mood. I found some of the rooms a bit empty, and a little bit of additional visual feedback would've helped to make shooting feel more organic. That being said it's very very cool that you found time to work on an intro and add an extra bit of story to it. There is definitely a lot of merit in that!
Cool concept! Took me a while to understand the sunlight thing, became a lot cooler after that was clear. One thing I'd add as improvement is the collisions of the balls with the bullets, some of those are a bit dodgy and.. I just wanted to hit those bugs! :see_no_evil:
Wow - this is a very neat idea! I actually liked the fixing mechanic, kept me engaged (although at times a bit angry at the turrets!) and tense. It added a bit extra to usual tower defense games which made it quite unique, original and interesting.
One thing that is just a thought is that maybe they do break a little bit too often - so often that there's a point where buying further turrets for me wasn't worth it because I knew I was going to lose them. So I guess that depends on what kind of experience you'd want players to have.
The art style is really good, it has this polished feel to it.
The controls are a little bit confusing, and might have needed a bit of explanation for players to be able to follow along, maybe a tutorial with very little failure chance so that players can also get the small kick that they are doing it correctly before continuing. I do understand that there's little time in game jams and we usually leave tutorials out of it (I include myself in that group), so maybe tweaking difficulty curve could've made up for the lack of a tutorial?
In terms of gameplay, swapping the heroes to solve the puzzles is an interesting mechanic that could be quite fruitful. This means that there will be some thinking required by the player, which crashes with the fact that the characters very quickly start to act insane. I do like this insanity thing as a mechanic, but it could maybe be nerfed a little bit to allow extra thinking time (specially on early levels, when the player is understanding the rules of the world).
Oh, and I need to mention that the ambience and the sounds work together very well too! It creates this feel of puzzle-tension that can have quite a lot of potential. Good entry, and good job guys!
Pretty nice and soothing game. For some reason this kind of experiences get my attention. I would have liked more things to do though! Maybe a little bit less of waiting time, or a bit more actions while you wait. I do know it's a game jam, but I liked it so wanted more! :hugging:
@kamekai classic arcade mode sounds very interesting :eyes:
This is a very cool concept! The mechanics are fun, I really liked the concept and the assets work along very nicely.
A small suggestion: I think it would be good to have the spells follow you when they trigger exactly as you are moving (maybe during a small threshold of time). This would have a very positive and rewarding feel, an "almost hit" that became a win.
Cool entry overall!
I loved it! The experience is smooth and curated, and the puzzles are interesting. Peaceful, soothing... really cool entry!
This is such a cute and relaxing entry. I love the hand-painted look of the background, and the little characters... so calming  I love the attention to detail, on all of those side little stories that you get to see a glimpse of between shifts. Good job!!
Wow a 3D one! :) It has been mentioned above, but there was something iffy with the mouse controls. I tried going full screen to see if that was the issue, but didn't solve it either, so moving around was a bit challenging at times.
Also, this might be my very poor navigation skills, but have only been able to find oil twice. :see_no_evil: The death scene was a cool jumpscare for sure!
Simple mechanics, yet quite effective to tell your story. I like that you represent "getting into the system to fix it" with a small labyrinth puzzle! It surprisingly fits it, and it's a different take on the theme of what I've usually seen here. Good job!
I have to admit it took me quite a while to understand how to make the character move. Maybe a tiny bit of guidance would be necessary at the beginning. Once I understood that it was a matter of just selecting all of them in the desired order, the character moved and it all made sense!
The character and the assets are charming, and the mechanics are definitely entertaining. It can get a bit frustrating sometimes when all the cards you're given won't really help you out at all, but  that's also life.
Very cool and complete entry overall!
This is a very polished short game! I got the guardian on my first run! :smirk:
It was fun to try to figure out what was it that the little morphing needed and wanted. Scavenging was a nice addition, adding an extra layer of depth to the typical pet sim experience. Made it more interesting and unique.
Wow, definitely a different and unique take on the theme. I loved playing a game that was playing me.
The mood was set quite successfully, a mixture between HAL's subtle sounds, the pace of the text rendering on screen and... well, the actual content of the message of course. Probably helped the fact that I already knew what to expect from HAL.
Cool entry!
Nice job! Screenshot 2020-04-25 at 14.39.23.png
I think my main piece of feedback is that I would've liked to see more variety in terms of threats. All of them have the exact same pattern, so it eventually can become a bit repetitive and predictable. Maybe adding different enemies that behaved in different ways could've been a good addition - what about some threats that come from the sides?
Also - I tried to protect the cute foxes but I saw that protecting them wasn't actually the point. Or was it?
Aside from that, I really liked it! The main character is adorable, and I really digged the minimalistic aesthetic of it all. Nice entry!
The story, the visuals, the theme, the overall ambience is really really cool.
Unfortunately, the flight controls though were quite not there, but I can see the work being put and with a bit of testing and polishing on the main controls, this could be something really cool with a lot of personality.
I thought I was doing so well and then the party died :see_no_evil:
The concept is actually very nice, maybe a little bit of better communicating the mechanics, introducing them bit by bit could be a good thing to keep the player engaged and allow them to understand what's going on.
I'm proud I got my daycare until I had 15 Omigas, but it became too much and they died. Love that in addition to the usual pet sim tasks of the genre, you have to also manage the physical position of the devices. If you're too messy, that will probably affect your final score. There's some extra depth to such a simple thing.
I had fun! (Also, what's with the passive aggressive final message :joy: ? I did my best!)
Highest score I could get 19500!
The art was super cute. I loved the little animations, the gnomes falling down, the little ducklings! You really made me care about my babies!
P.S. My take on the theme was quite similar to yours BUT in yours the pet(s) you need to protect move with you! :duck: which I like
Wow, very cool entry!
Things I liked: the art, the sounds, the map are gorgeous and go very well together; the tutorial was super clear and I was ready to get into action straightaway!
Things that could use some improvement: controls were a little bit strange - wasn't a fan of having to click to choose seeds and then close the window while using keyboard for the rest of actions; difficulty could use a bit of tweaking too - plants died quite fast and I found very challenging to plant a second seed while making sure the first one didn't die. Maybe being able to carry water for more than one plant could be a good thing to allow?
Overall, good entry. Nice job!
Simple, but it works with the theme, the mechanics are easy to understand and even though there's a challenge there it feels quite relaxing to play! Must be the sounds
I wouldn't be able to know why but I really liked it! I guess there's something about games where I have to look at information and open and close tabs and examine what's in front of me and then feel smart when I eventually choose the right option.
There's also something really nicely done when it comes to UX and visual feedback. The sounds, the animations... attention to detail does matter.
Guys, you need to update the links to show that players can download Mac/Windows/Linux versions. The way you have it right now it looks like you can only view the source code AND the game you have done is INCREDIBLE. People need to see it and play it. You deserve a lot more ratings!
I have been playing it for a while now. At the very moment I started watching the intro, I was not only into it but I was amazed at how you guys accomplished making it look like a game I could've bought from Steam. The mood, the voice acting, the text, the story. YES.
Then, the mechanics. They work really well. After a couple of quick interactions I understood how to skill system worked. It is true that the UI could've helped me a tiny bit more, but it was not an issue cause I was so much into it I wanted to understand it to make it work, and it did work.
I loved having the more "peaceful" or resting moments where I could strategise - although had to think fast cause the next wave was not waiting for me - and then the tense ones. I have truly enjoyed this, probably the most of all games.
My favourite entry. 5 Stars for sure.
Thank for this experience. Please, make more out of it, and please let me play it!
I really enjoyed playing this little game. Sound design is fun and keeps it entertaining, and I really enjoyed the mechanics. I do have a weakness for pet sims and this is a fun twist, so there's that too. Really cool job overall!
"You're too broke for that" - rude! :joy:
Can I just say the art of this game is absolutely top notch? It has a lot of personality, it's gorgeous! The entire experience is quite soothing, the animations follow along very nicely.
I have seen multiple takes on the theme involving a flame but this one is a bit unique and it did surprise me and make me smile when I started playing! My only criticism would maybe be to make the logs stand out a little bit more, as I didn't know I could interact with them at first - until I read the comments. Other than that, it's beautiful!
The idea is quite nice, and I love the sourdough monster!
I think it requires a liiitle bit more of visual feedback cause sometimes I wasn't sure whether I had succeeded at one action or not (then I saw the numbers at the top and it made a bit more of sense). Some balancing might be good too cause the monster is too hungry and it finished all my flour before I could actually bake loafs.
The art is absolutely lovely. The facial expressions of the sourdough monster are to die for!
Aaah, the art is gorgeous and I love the take on the theme. Harvesting souls? Yes, please.
I really like the take on the theme!! It's a fresh idea, and very well implemented. There's something super satisfying about having lots of buttons to press to control things around, so definitely enjoyed it.
My main piece of feedback is that it is quite challenging particularly at the beginning. Previous comments mentioned maybe having a tutorial but I personally think that this game's theme goes will with learning by trial and error, so I'm not too bothered about that. I do like the extra challenge of figuring out how do those panels work... When you actually do, there's that AHA moment that feels great.
What I do think is that the overall experience could benefit from a slower pace at the beginning while allowing the player to understand the mechanics, as you introduce them one by one. Maybe popups could only appear later on, as complexity ramps up, after you've successfully interacted with a few of the basic controls first.
That being said, I know it's 48 hours, and balancing is a tough one to conquer during a jam. Overall, it's a very neat game. Needless to say, love your aesthetics too!
@sanjuro - I see what you mean. If I get some time to take this game further, I think that's going to be one of the points to address. Maybe a smarter item spawner would be nice. Thanks for dropping by!
@bigtinygames - Yes, they need a decay indicator of some sort. Good point. :muscle:
@wheffle - yes! Totally agree with you. Writing those down.
@plantprogrammer Thank you for the feedback! I wanted to add hearts around the map to replenish your health but unfortunately run out of time. Thanks for playing it and rating it!
@alex-davies That is actually super valuable advice. Thank you for spending the time to write that down! I'm adding it to my list!
@honey-pony - You're totally right! I was actually worried that randomly spawning items would create that kind of situation. If I had a bit of extra time I would have definitely made the item spawner smarter. Thank you for playing it and adding your thoughts. Really appreciated!
@norris-eldridge - But you did yours in a lot less time AND I don't have a cool intro like you.
@denglishdesign - WOW. Really encouraging feedback. Thank you for spending the time to write that down. Means a lot.
@acgaudette - Thanks a lot for your thoughts! You are right! Writing it down on my list.
@mhykah - Thank you for playing the game and spending the time to write that comment. Means a lot!
@louiejams - Yep, totally right. I should've paused it but I have to admit controls were one of the last things I added and I had no time for more :see_no_evil: Sorry about that!
@louiejams - And I love that you took the time to do that. Definitely added it on my list cause I'd love to keep working on this little fella. Thanks so much for playing it
@kamekai - Love those ideas, so writing them down! I like mines and turrets a lot - definitely goes along with the core mechanic and would allow the player to further explore the room without risking the pet as much as before. Thanks for dropping by and writing down your thoughts. I really appreciate it!
@sciman101 - totally agree with you. I've only noticed that after delivering... how did I not think about a screen shake? :face_palm:
@kaafirookie - Thank you so very much for your super detailed feedback. I have been taking a lot of notes as I watched the stream, everything you've mentioned has been very valuable and I truly appreciate you taking the time to talk through your thoughts, feels and criticisms. I can't thank you enough for putting time into it.
Cool little game! I have to admit that I found the mechanics to be a bit cryptic, maybe a couple of instructions to guide the player at the beginning of the experience could be a good thing to add. Although I admit that I'm the first one to leave instructions till last minute in a Game Jam. :see_no_evil:
Very cool entry overall! Super brave to do it as a first!
Very very nice little game you have here. I liked it's turn-based system. Got me 1 death to understand exactly how it worked, and it definitely was interesting to play.
Now, the aesthetics are awesome, I love that 80s neon style. And the subtle animations on the little cards added an extra pazazz that was fun to watch.
Very cool entry which I enjoyed playing. I'm surprised you guys don't have more ratings!
Interesting take on the theme! I like this 8 bit style.
I died when trying to get to the room at the very left of the first level, there might be something iffy with the colliders there. :see_no_evil:
Interesting take on the theme! I like this 8 bit style.

Very beautiful game, soothing and relaxing to play. I found myself staying quite close to stations to be safe - so maybe a bit of challenge could be added on that side to encourage players to explore and take risks, maybe having power stations run down or activate/deactivate with a certain periodicity - although to allow that, probably a bit of a larger battery would be required.
The look and feel, ambience, mood and aesthetics are gorgeous. Nice entry overall!
Cool game, fun to play. The audio and sounds are really great! The mood is definitely set with those voice lines.
A bit hard IMO, but I guess that's the point. You get once chance, or you're gone. :see_no_evil:
This is sweeet!
It's a really cute concept. Entertaining and well implemented. In terms of information - as to why certain things work the way they do in your world -, I was troubled by the fact that I could go into the spikes but not the kid - because of that the kid kept dying until I understood that I was fine with those spikes but the kid wasn't. :see_no_evil:
I got quite far away on my second attempt though. Proud of that. Cool entry overall!!!
The art is absolutely adorable! Really like it. I do agree with some of the comments above about some cues being probably necessary to focus the player's attention into the important bits. But we do know it's a jam, and time is limited so it's good stuff nonetheless.
Very nice entry! The visuals are beautiful, and the overall mood and ambience is well achieved. The environments felt a bit empty, a little bit more of findings and enemies would've made them more interesting to explore.
When it comes to battle controls, I did struggle a little bit to find out how to properly attack and dodge. I think it was basically down to a lack of visual feedback, but I'm not sure.
Now, I do like a lot the idea of grabbing spells as you explore. Definitely adds extra interest to the mechanics and makes it a lot more dynamic. You've got some very nice animations going along with those as well, which made me wow a little. Very good job overall!
The intro was hilarious. :joy: I was not expecting going inside rotten food to find the actual game in there.
I found myself playing for a little while. You got me engaged and interested! It's true that sometimes the little bacteria were a little buggy, but I still did pull through. Regarding difficulty/balancing, it felt quite right! This is surprising considering that in game jams balancing is a tough one. Good job on this entry! Really!
Original and quite sweet storyline. Short but effective. The mechanics are cool, they are easy to grasp and a fun challenge to play. And there's an intro too! Love this entry!
Also, the fact that you did this in less than a day... wow. Props to you!
P.S. My entry is sort of a similar take on the theme, so I x2 loved to see yours.
I conquered the world!!! :smirk:
Hehe. This was a fun take on the pet genre! The assets were super cool, nice entry!
Challenging, fun and silly (in a good way!). Love the take on the theme, the assets are super cute. Maybe a bit too challenging at times, but we know how hard it is to balance a game in a jam, so overall really good stuff!
Oh I liiiiike!!!!
I do see the theme there, keeping it alive... while you make it fight to death! It's a cool take, and I gotta love the assets. Some of the UI was tiny, whereas the other one was decently sized, so that would be a thing to improve, but I did like it quite a lot.
For some reason my pigeon evolved into one that looked like it had a platypus beak? Dunno, but I liked the guy. He was smashing.. until it got smashed.
Aw that was a really cute experience. I loved that trimming branches and leaves happened on a pixel art basis. Really cute mechanic!
Audio was relaxing, the little guy running around was adorable. Maybe a bit too much waiting at the beginning (although I know bonsais IRL take a lot longer!) but once the bonsais started to grow, yay!
Oh that was fun to play! Super simple, yet effective. I loved the text prompts and the overall aesthetics. They have their own personality!
I love pet games, so this was really fun to play around with! The small little eggs are so so adorable.
I did not understand what to do though when after placing some of the eggs on the table, they wouldn't hatch. I tried putting them in the incubator but that wouldn't work, so I was probably doing something wrong :see_no_evil: The ones that hatched were fun to take care of!
@flamus - OH I see! So you're meant to keep the entire room temperature to a specific value, and only hatch the eggs that are the same species which work for that temperature?
WOW, just WOW. The art is absolutely gorgeous; I was wowed at the 2D animations! You found a unique style and I think it was the right choice.
The combat took me a couple of deaths to understand (moving was a bit hard as I wasn't comprehending I had to click once to establish the number of tiles and then again to confirm, and a final time to turn around to be able to attack the vampire). Once understood I found it quite interesting as a mechanic and I was able to enjoy the entire thing!
The story is well-written and engaging, and the animations that go along with it have a lot of personality and add to the overall mood.
This is an impressive entry overall. I'm amazed. Good job!
The art style was suuuper cool and the mechanics were engaging. I liked having to balance the navigation with the upgrades/repair system. I really liked the overall mood. Minimal sounds, but effective and they gave this slightly old-school feel - yet modern - that, well, I really digged.
One small thing and that may be just me being a bit of a bad loser but.. I could swear that even though technically it looked like a projectile from the enemy wasn't going to hit me, it did hit. Could it be that the collision box is a bit too big for the asset? Or was I just too unskilled and not being able to admit that I just didn't dodge properly? :see_no_evil:
Wow, this is a very innovative take on the classic Match-3 genre! I like the sim management aspect of it, and the mechanics of the puzzle are simple but can add a lot of depth. I found the sounds super satisfying too :) I had to read the comments though to look for some instructions :see_no_evil:
Oh, this was fun! I actually quite liked the dash mechanic.
At one point I was able to stay still on a particular section of the screen for a while and didn't get any hits because everything was happening elsewhere, so maybe difficulty could benefit from a bit of tweaking.
Also, can I just say how cute it is the way the little guy holds the kitty!
This was such a sweeeet experience. Thank you for crafting this.
The environment was phenomenally created: music and assets worked really well together. It is true that there were a couple of instances were I was a liiitle bit lost as I wasn't sure why couldn't I find more creatures and kept looking for a hidden swamp. I eventually found the second instrument and realised that if I went back there was a pinecone now! I think what confused me was that the little guy kept telling me to keep playing the song to its people :see_no_evil: but which people?!
That being said, the entire experience was a truly delight to play through. It was unique and original. The cloud moment was... Thanks guys, it was great!
I really liked playing this. It feels like a very complete game, with interesting mechanics that added quite a lot of depth to the experience. It played very well, it was easy to understand and felt polished.
Haha! Such an interesting take on the theme. Fun and definitely unique! The main piece of feedback that I can provide is around visual feedback when hitting enemies. It is a little bit hard to know if you're hitting them, if you're just not aiming correctly or if you are indeed hitting them but not visually seeing it. A small explosion when the ball hits, a small blink or something like that should be more than enough.
Overall though, good entry! :unicorn:
P.S. In my game I'm also protecting a unicorn, although it is a bit different. Mine is definitely not DANCING!
I love love love how you implemented the theme! It's unique, it's different and the mechanics to me appeared quite clear from the start.
My main criticism is from a game-level-balance perspective, as I felt that the cop level was a bit frustrating cause he seems to be slightly quicker and too smart - at least for a 2nd level :see_no_evil:
BUT, the audio, assets are very nice and work very well together - maybe make the map bigger so that people can see the assets with more detail, because I am a fan of that bus's design and I wanted to see it closer. THE BUM. :peach: was great.
Love the stupid graphics and the quirky messages. :joy:
I agree with the comment above about the lightning. The levels are a bit hard to read, as it is unclear what's a wall, what's a door, and what's just darkness but walkable. Also, complexity might need tweaking as there's a very small window of reaction, especially when it's the first time that you encounter those enemies. Maybe visual or audio cues about nearby enemies could be a good way to go to solve that.
That being said, I do understand that in 48 hours it's very hard to get game balancing right. So I can't leave without saying: good work overall!
Btw, if anyone has issues opening MacOs version and keeps getting a "Can't open application error", way to go is: chmod a+x LudumDare46.app/Contents/MacOS/*
Oooh I like! I like a lot how to guys implemented the theme! I will admit I was completely ignoring most of the stats and playing by heart which is probably why... I was trying to be nice and help out and died of hypothermia as a consequence :sob: why
This is a very nice little game!
Mechanics are simple yet quite original and definitely go along with the theme! It has the right amount of challenge, although I think in terms of balancing the game it could be a good idea to make sure that when poisoned items change, the game won't choose items that are in a very close range - as doing so will mean an instant death that could be a bit unfair.
Very good stuff though!
That was... awesome. Totally wasn't expecting that.
Pace is great, story is heart touching. And the fact that you did that with minimalistic art. It's incredible how with no walls and almost no furniture I could imagine the space around me. I felt for the guy. Thanks for posting it!
So charming! Pet games always win my heart, specially if they are dark! Hehehe
I love that on top of things you added some narrative. Just would've loved to be able to do a lot more with it while I was waiting for the days to pass. It was well fed, so wanted to do more things!
Oh, and the assets are gorgeous! Everything works very well together.
Really cool entry! The interpretation of the theme is fun and the mechanics are engaging. And the setting... the assets... hilarious and with a lot of personality. I just wished I could RUN faster! Haha
(Felicitaciones, ¡mola un montón!)
@vectorwolf @taran-unraveler - Yes, I had to refresh the page and make sure I didn't tap anywhere other than the game. Otherwise, seems like it loses focus and input stops working.
The game's concept is very cool, and the multiplayer element adds an extra to this that will make it double as fun if not more! :joy:
In general my only piece of feedback is to make it a bit more forgiving :see_no_evil: - basically if you don't precisely place yourself next to the plants and aim perfectly, you end up watering the floor, which... tbh is probably my fault because I'm just bad, but considering the multiplayer element and the fact that it will be quite hectic and you need to be fast, it's probably a good thing - will help balance.
The music and the art are quite cool, and the theme and mechanics definitely have a lot of potential! Overall, very nice entry!
Nice idea, and really cool execution. Difficulty-wise it may need a bit of tweaking, maybe easier sequences at the beginning with a bit of visual aid too that gets harder as the player successfully completes them, but quite cool nonetheless.
When it comes to mood, visuals and audio work very well together. Nice job overall
The mechanics are incredibly interesting, and the visuals/audio create a fantastic mood.
My only criticism would be around the very first level. Felt it could've been good to have the candle visible on the first half of the level so that it could've been immediately introduced as a mechanic - or maybe have a level 0 where that was simply shown, and then proceed with level 1.
It became quite confusing when I was shooting the arrow (trying to aim at the candle) with the candle being off screen - and upon seeing that was not helping my own light, I thought I had to do something else - to realise eventually that I was right and had indeed to shoot at the candle BUT it had to be on screen. - This probably wouldn't have happened if I knew for sure that was the actual mechanic and my intuition was correct. Not sure if any of that makes sense. :see_no_evil:
Anyway, overall it's an amazing entry. Don't let my long piece of text above imply otherwise. It's clever, it's pretty, and everything works together very nicely.
I found it was lacking a little bit of visual feedback or animations to go along with the events that were happening. That being said, I did find the take on the theme quite interesting, and I like the mechanics you chose to use.
The fact that you need to choose to either feast or summon, and the effects it has on your army, was actually quite interesting, and I can see potential in that kind of mechanic!
Really cool little platformer. I have to say I absolutely ADORED the environment, the small animations, the little characters... the light added a subtle but gorgeous touch and made the world a bit more alive. The mechanics felt fluid and they were fun. In regards to that I would maybe only mention that the pull back from getting hit felt a bit too much, which caused a little bit of disorientation.
I would also mention I was lacking a little bit of ramping/balancing difficulty, and having a bigger variety of enemies.
As I said though, I am aware those are usually hard to tackle during a jam, and this definitely has a very nice polish and playing it was a bliss nonetheless. Thanks for the entry and great work!
I was going to provide similar feedback to what @adhesion mentioned above. I also immediately lost after pressing Z as I also thought it was a tutorial :see_no_evil:
The position of the goal should probably be hinted, or partially visible on the first level, so that the player has a clear understanding from the start on what are they aiming for.
Other than that, the platformer is very cute, has a lovely retro style to it, and I definitely dig the take on the theme! The sounds are simple yet effective for what it needs. Overall, it's a nice piece of work!
This is a very nice little game! It felt polished, and the mechanics were interesting - loved the fact that you could plant cacti to help out out defend the tree and fight against the monsters. It added an extra element that was tied to protecting the tree - closing the core game loop.
Overall, it was fun and relaxing to play - the music probably helped to create that mood. Great entry!
Wow the looks of it... yes! Visuals, audio, overall mood work very well together.
In terms of mechanics, it has been mentioned earlier, but I also found that the combat system probably needs polishing. I wasn't sure if I was actually making any damage, even though I was technically attacking - I could see the animation. The enemies seemed to be a lot stronger than me, so maybe I was doing something wrong but :see_no_evil: I would've loved to be able to move/dodge or maybe stun/block the enemies. Basically, I wanted to feel stronger than them and I felt I was completely overpowered.
I did like a lot the fact that you're not just one summoner. You're them all because the goal is to complete the ritual. It's a bit different to the usual die/respawn or die/restart. It's a die but continue. Nice entry!
Such a silly take on the theme, but I have to love it. It's great that you guys play with the UI of the game too, and get it included. It's always fun to surprise the audience, and you guys definitely did. :joy:
So I spent a long amount of time on the first level because I was convinced I had to use Z. :see_no_evil: After I read a comment that said that you do not need to I retook the level and AHA made sense. The concept is super clever and a really unique mechanic that creates interesting puzzles. Good job!!
I love this! Really really cool game. There's something I really enjoy about just fiddling around with controls! Very cool entry!
Audio, graphics and mood are all super well done! Controls are easy to grasp and it has this retro feel that is easy to love! One thing I'd say is... I kept unconsciously trying to crouch to dodge bullets, could that be an additional mechanic? :see_no_evil:
Overall, this is a very cool entry. Good job, team!
Oooh, a puzzle game! The pace at which complexity grows is very well done. It's a very nice experience. Simple graphics, yet effective. Audio is cute! Overall, a very nice entry.
(Also, can't believe that I had to do level 2 three times because I kept falling on the same tile... must be the lack of sleep)
@louiejams - aw I dropped by to play your game but unfortunately I don't have a Windows machine :sob:
@louiejams - I use a Mac (and of course web would also work)
What a creative take on the theme! The puzzles are very cute, love that you took it to the music realm. Both graphics and sounds seemed well polished, and the difficulty ramped up quite nicely. I definitely had fun and smiled while playing it.
I was only able to get to Modern Times and OH I LOVED THE CONCEPT. It was a bliss to play this! The small dino hats made me smile so much. They were so adorable, and I cared about them from the start.
Fun concept! It was a nice moment when after converting a lot of people I saw that now I was controlling a few of them and not just one! The screen shake could be a bit too much, so ended up turning it off.
P.S. I would like to understand why raising people's hopes made the world more dangerous? What's the message there? :eyes:
Cool entry!
Things that I liked: shooting was satisfying a mixture of both the sounds and the recoil, the little zombies are cute, love that you need to protect the zombies instead of killing them
Things that might need improvement: wall mechanic might need some tweaking as it was a bit dodgy, sometimes the Reload key wouldn't reload and that confused me and stressed me because I didn't want any of those zombies to die!
Wow, such a polished piece! This is awesome! I absolutely adore the animations and the character design.
Love how the game tricking you makes it challenging, even if the mechanics are technically simple. This definitely made me giggle. One thing I would say is around timing - might be worth adding a super super small window where even though it would technically be a miss, it gets considered as a good move. This would add a very rewarding "almost hit, but saved it" feel to the player that might be worth exploring.
Overall, fantastic entry!
Take on the theme is interesting, and the little organ animations are very sweet. Like others have mentioned, I was getting stuck too. Sometimes jumping was a bit dodgy, so it would require a bit of polishing. That being said, great job!
Wow just wow! I loved the intro, it really got me into it. Felt like I was playing an adventure game. The setting is really cool, love the lightning, the environments, the overall ambience.
And the mechanics are cool and engaging! BUT I felt terrible by kidnapping little innocent children :see_no_evil: Still did it though.
Brilliant mechanics! This was a well polished all rounded experience that I really enjoyed! The upgrades add depth and strategy, in addition to the raw survival mode, and it was super intuitive and easy to understand. No tutorial needed, no guidance. Could jump right into it and start playing with it. Awesome work overall!
The assets are pretty, the audio is very soothing and melancholic, and... is there actually a chance to sell any matches? I did not find absolutely anyone on the street, and had to keep using my own matches to keep the girl alive. Felt so bad for the little girl!
It definitely touches your heart. Sad story
The puzzles are fun and clever! And the dialogues are awesome. I love the sillyness of it all, combined with the darkness. Hehe... You really succeeded at setting the mood and getting me interested and engaged.
Really gorgeous looking game!
I like that t's a bit different to other games out there because you need to keep multiple people alive and not just one! I have to admit it took me a while to understand how to possess objects (probably my fault) but once I understood that I could last longer.
Really cool overall :skull:
This is a very neat experience!
What I liked: clear aim from the start, satisfying animations and recoil effect
What I didn't like so much: took me too long to realise that I could pay for upgrades and shields - once that was discovered I had triple fun!
Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! :fire:
Oh wow! At the beginning I had no idea what those things were (the small little tanks where different items are) and I wasn't understanding what the scale was and why wasn't I being able to interact with it but then a bit of trial and error was more than enough to figure it out, and I kinda enjoyed that "aha" moment.
So on second try, I did pretty good :smirk:
Very nice atmosphere you created there. I love how there was a bit of teasing in the dialogue, sometimes tension, sometimes relaxed. Made it feel closer to reality.
Yay! Beat it on 2nd try! I love how everyone in the comments seems to be wanting to use aliens as fuel, myself included. :joy: I think that was actually the first thing I attempted to burn.
Overall, this was a pretty cool entry! Simple mechanics that work to make a quite entertaining little experience. Very well executed overall.
Super cool entry! :)
I absolutely adore the graphics. The faded colour palette contributes to the overall feel, and the explosions and small animations make it super satisfying. Camping next to the mother virus is definitely the strategy here, so I agree with the above comment that the experience could benefit from some balancing: waves with some "resting" times.
The music ends up being a bit repetitive, but I have to say that paired with the animated UI is very effective at conveying this urge sentiment.
I find it very interesting the fact that you're trying to save someone that at the same time will hurt you! That is quite a unique take on the theme, a bit different from the usual. Cool entry!
There's something about it that is SUPER SATISFYING. Might be the recoil, the screen shake, the white flashes or a combo of those things together.
I like it a lot! It works well altogether. Sounds, ambience, graphics, and you've made it satisfying! Have I said that already? :see_no_evil:
Clever and fun mechanics! Completely different take on the theme of what I've usually seen, so props for uniqueness!
It has been mentioned earlier, but a bit of extra fairness would've been cool cause it was sometimes a bit too hard - either too little time or the gate was a bit too far away.
I do love the little animations, and the way the little guy walks made me giggle. I love those little touches. Attention to detail is key!
Really cool concept! Took me a couple of attempts to understand how to exactly get supplies and deliver them. I was clicking next to the shop/house instead of exactly on top of it, so I was driving there but nothing was happening and a few people died. :see_no_evil:
It can get a bit complicated quite fast, but it's a jam and balancing is always a tough one to conquer, so overall, really good stuff!
The horse made me go "wow", the animation is stunning. I love the style and aesthetics, like paper/hand-drawn. Really pretty! Watching him jump as I move was super cool.
Definitely, really cool entry!
I also have a question: Why is there a pony trapped in a coal mine? How did he end up there? POOR PIT :see_no_evil:
Very cute, and... made with scratch? Good job!
Oh wow, that is an interesting take. I have seen other keep "the flame/fire alive" entries, but in this one the fire moves and has abilities! :fire:
Things that I really liked: the darkness which works well with the theme and as a mechanic, the fire ability and the fact that it's a sacrifice you do for the sake of living longer, the ambience - mix of tense but also relaxing like watching a crackling fire
Super interesting take on the theme! I just wished it was longer, as when I got to the end I was engaged and wanted to know more about this mysterious book.
The concept is unique, and the "multi-player" element that it has adds a nice touch. I like that other player's entries also double as hints, on top of revealing a bit more about universe and other people's interpretations.
Amazing entry, well done!
Oh wow! Was not expecting this, this was fun. Made me giggle. I thought I was doing pretty well and then the liver appeared. :joy:
I absolutely LOVE SH’BOLGA's design!!!! Such a fan!!! I like the theme, I like the monster, and I like the missions :smirk:
Impressive game! I got really involved into the story - even though I'm no good at platformers I was determined to make it through cause I wanted to see more! The mechanics were smooth, gameplay was fun. And how did you manage to do so much in so little time? There was so much world to explore!
Incredible work!
Cute and nice game! I was a bit confused about the mechanics at the beginning, but could see the real depth of them after a bit. One thing I noticed though is that I had to press the keys for too long for it to react to my input (played it on a Mac). Thought I'd mention that :) All in all, good job!
Whoa, fun concept! The art goes really well with the hidden object mechanic. I got quite into it, and finding the items become kind of a personal thing between me and the game. :P Good job!
I think it's an awesome take on the theme! It really is a coop competitive game! Sweet assets, smooth controls, and fun overall! Enjoyed it! :)
I can definitely see the ♥️you put into it! It's fun, it's pretty polished, great entry overall! I do feel it doesn't fit the theme 100%, but it's great nonetheless. Cool stuff!
Cool game!! I was gladly surprised by it. Really like how you blended pet simulator and tower defense. It's cute, it's smart and it's fun! Nice entry! :)
Blend between those two mechanics seems interesting, although I didn't quite get the feeling that it was a race. More like a path full of obstacles that did create some tension. Controls probably need some polishing, but the music was cool and it had the potential to create some cool ambience.
What a little clicker game! Could use some of auto-clickers or upgrades to get faster to then... get faster? Haha
OSX version didn't work for me :(
@megamasterx I believe this is how I have them. (Enclosing screenshots cause maybe I'm doing something stupid) Screen Shot 2018-04-27 at 14.22.26.png
And this is what the screen looks like (after that animation where what I'm guessing is your logo fades in) Screen Shot 2018-04-27 at 14.22.13.png
@megamasterx Yeah, I'll be happy to test it if you guys can help me to start it! :)
Adding trivia to a turn-based combat system is a cool concept and nice take on the theme! Would love to see this explored further down the line, with a combat-system with a bit more depth and maybe questions being dependant on state of combat (how well or bad you're doing). I also struggled with US-centric questions a bit, but I could see the fun and potential nonetheless. ^^
Also, there is something that I really like about the characters. Their designs and the names... they have something. :)
This is a really cool take on the theme! Interesting genres you chose, and you got a sweet little game with quite a polished mechanic. :) Good job!!
Creative theme execution! Cute and fun ^^
Really cool little game! It's engaging, it's challenging and has a fun to it :)
Really cool concept! Challenging but fun mechanics, easy to understand controls. The assets and music set up a nice and relaxed mood. Really good job, guys!
Polished little game with a clever mechanic. Love the building-tower-with-blocks thing. Fighting mechanic may be a bit too random, would love it to have a little bit more of strategy so that player can be able to control their fate a bit more. But awesome entry nonetheless! ^^
This is a super cool concept! I loved to play with my own drawings, you learn to care about them more if they are your own creations. :) Just one bit of feedback. After dying, it'd be nice to get to retry again with the same drawings, instead of being forced to draw everything all over again. But nonetheless, I was impressed!
This is a very cool and fun game. I enjoyed playing through it, and the cutting sound is so satisfying! :D
Lovely super polished game in only 48 hours. Congratulations! :)
Whoa, this is impressive! Unexpected entry with a lot of creativity, both on the technical side and the design one. Controls worked surprisingly smooth (I was expecting it to be a bit more fiddly), it creates a really cool challenge, and the theme is most certainly super cute. :) Loved this! Really good job!
Super neat and polished! I feel it's one of the most polished entries (and the one where I've spent most time with) :) Amazing job! Love the take on the theme! The aesthetics of it are overall very cohesive. Everything seems to work together nicely.
Very cool! I've seen other games where typing was the means of controlling and I feel this one is the one that best executes it so far! :) The mechanic really works, it's challenging, it's fun. Really nice job!
Sweet entry! :) I like the fact that you start without any of the abilities and you need to explore to acquire them. That is a cool concept! I do think as it was mentioned on the comments above that it the areas are maybe too big and empty sometimes. A bit more action, or smaller areas could have worked better. But hey, great entry nevertheless!
Awesome game! :) Art is super nice, mechanic is fun and challenging. I got quite a few nice tricks! :) You should be proud if this, regardless of it being your first entry! Cause it doesn't look like it!^^ (Shame there weren't some basic audio effects!)
Really neat and fun experience! Loved the wall effects on top-down. The tearing down libraries to find the books thing is very satisfying. Died on an ambush, though :( Haha!
@goplite Was wondering how did you achieve to make the character face towards the direction you're looking at? I tried to make mine work as well, but wasn't as smooth as yours and would love to figure out what is it that I was doing wrong! :P Any chance you can share the character controller for learning purposes? 🙏
@Goplite I'll try again using lerp again and making sure I only change it when there is any input (that could've been my mistake). I'm sure without the pressure I can get it working :P Thanks!
This is actually really neat! The take on the theme is super cool. Great execution, super nice graphics and music especially taking into account you made this in 48 hours!
Really cool stuff you've got :) The mood you achieve with the blend of aesthetics, the relaxing bit of golf that requires focus and concentration, the music... very cool. The levels are challenging, though, but clever. Really nice entry!
Super hard but hey, fun and with a nice twist on the Flappy mechanics! :) I really liked the overall retro feel. Props to you for doing it for the Commodore 64!
This is an awesome entry! :) Really polished, water is amazing. Boat controls and navigation feel really smooth. 🚢 It got me three tries to actually figure out that I had to follow that little anchor that was serving as a pointing arrow, but once I figured it out, I got into it! ^^
Great and clever execution! Really enjoyed the ride :) It's cool the way the turn-based thing has been built, where everything is frozen but some of the actions you take have immediate effect (such as moving). Good job!!
Good stuuff! :) Felt like the hardness increased all of a sudden after the first enemy, maybe the arrows could start from the very end of the window instead of spawning close to the centre to give the player a little bit of extra reaction time to prepare for the wave. Other than that, cool take and satisfying mechanics. ^^
The idea for the core mechanic is super neat. :) Very creative use of bubble matching mechanic. The fact that not only clearing them, but building them is useful, depending on the situation, is super clever!
One tiny thing. I died and I think I got spawned way further than where I died. Other than that, good job!!
Ha! I used to play these dressing games when I was a child. Love the twist you added, and the beginning when she morphs into that? Fun. :)
Whoa, super polished entry! :) I'm so bad at it but I had fun anyway. The aesthetics are really cool, love the environment and the blend between flat 3D and cartoon :) Also, the animations add a lot of dynamism to the whole experience.
There is a really cool mechanic going on there! I feel that the bouncing should be promoted, though. It's super fun and adds depth to the whole system in a different way than other games. ^^
The take on the theme is awesome! It does have a few bugs and things that need polishing, but it's an ambitious take and it does have potential. Good job! :)
This is fun! A bit hard to keep the ball for too long, but fun nonetheless!
A bit too difficult, but very fun and incredibly pretty!! :)
Super neat platformer. Really polished mechanics! Took me a little bit to get used to the dash, but once you get around it it becomes a nice and smooth challenge. The art style, camera effects and little sound fx add up to make it a really nice experience. Good job!!
This was actually pretty cool! I like your take on the concept. You've got a core simple system that creates pretty emergent gameplay, and the console does it for me. It's an unusual setup and you've made it work. Nice entry!
Tried playing the Mac version, but I'm getting a "can't be opened" error message :(
This was a fun challenging piece! Having to balance between wacking the bombs and paying attention to the matches makes it a bit challenging at times, which translates into a really rewarding feeling when you get to complete the level. @agentparsec True! I think the main issue I had with the theme was the phrasing. Once I decided my take was "two genres that at first seem incompatible but that then they are not", I was able to stop hating it.
Really enjoyed the mechanics here! Very cool take on the theme. (Also, those screen transitions + sound effects are so satisfying). I appreciated that shuffling the cards is not punishing to you. If there's anything I'd polish on future versions (hope you do a post LD version of this!), it would be the chances of getting card moves that allow you to do stuff instead of having to Shuffle 3 or 4 times before being able to perform your turn. I do like the system though, and the option of shuffling creates some interesting choices and situations further down the line when enemies/traps start to haunt the caves. :) Good stuff overall!
Witty dialogues, super cool setting, awesome title. The blend between barbarians and dating sim is actually hilarious and the way you guys have executed it is very neat. Good job! :) As a side note, I'm not 100% sure about the font. I have the feeling that it's a bit difficult to read, specially when there is a lot of text together (it may be more suitable for titles and big letters?).
@Apple Dash Thanks for your feedback! In some levels that definitely happens, totally true. A couple of levels are quite hard, and others are easy in comparison. There is balance work required, for sure. Not enough time to playtest enough, tweak and balance! Haha
@Aaron Nemoyten I'm hardly awake by now. :P
@allofthemarbles Your comment made me feel really happy. And the fact that it was the first one? Thanks :)
@Kirill Nepomnyaschiy Thanks for the feedback, mate! :) Stealth aspect needs polishing. I completely agree with you. Didn't have enough time to playtest. Only a couple of quick runs on each room, so yeah. There is balancing required, and bugs to be fixed! :P
@Rob White Thanks a lot! ^^ I definitely see the need for tweaking and balancing, but didn't have time for that. That's why some levels are easy, some hard, and sadly food is not always required (which is such a shame and something I will fix!!)
@Chaseplays Thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree with you. Unfortunately on 48 hours couldn't playtest those rooms more than a couple of times each. But I will work on it to fix it! 💪
@slunkey Thanks a lot for the feedback! Really appreciate it :) You're totally right, levels need design tweaks (some of them major). Wish I had enough time to make sure that the food mechanic was needed in most rooms so that you can't just eyesight everyone like you did, but 48 hours are 48 hours, hehe :stuck_out_tongue: The thing about not having the ingredients sure is a lockdown situation completely undesirable! Sorry about that! About the recipes, I am aware that it is not ideal. Wanted to add a recipe book next to the cooking window that kept track of all your unlocked recipes so that you don't need to rediscover them again and again, but again... time xD. Couldn't implement it, but will work on it for my post LD version!
@Scott Steffes Whoa, thanks. Your comment kinda made my day. Thanks for that ^^
@Dumivid @bombjack @EkkoEkko Thanks for playing, guys!
@polegar Thanks a lot for the nice comments! Technically you can do something when guards spot you (you can throw at them the food that they like and they'll stop following you), but in order for that to work better I should have made the recipes stay with you **after** you are caught and need to start again. Otherwise, it gets a bit tedious. I'll fix that though. :D Again, thanks!
@Vasco Freitas Thanks for the feedback! :) That thing about not *having* to bait is my fault. No time to properly tweak level designs made up for that. :P The being caught part I need to tweak too. You lose receipts and keep ingredients. Maybe it should be the other way around...
@tomdeal Thanks for playing! I think you're right about controls, not the first person to tell me that. I'll definitely review that part. :)
Very cool take on the theme! Found it hard even in easy mode though! Keypad on mac didn't help either (maybe if WASD was allowed that'd be a bit better :P). Need some skill to dodge, shoot and write!
Really liked this! Cool mechanics and ambience, smooth and satisfying text setup. There are definitely some interesting situations arising with the real-time part of it conflicting (in a good way!) with the fact that there is some thinking required and time invested into the commands. Note: I think the itch.io page is cropping your game on the sides (even in full-screen mode). I believe there's an option to "Enable auto-detecting size". Maybe that'll help? :)
Cool take on the theme! Cool graphics, nice mechanics, music drives the whole journey.
I feel I'm missing something :/ How does the typing mechanic work for me to type? I can see the "Type this to heal" thing on the top, but I'm not sure what is it that I need to type. The idea looks promising though, although I think the randomness factor could be decreased a bit so that it does have an effect, but not that big. Music is cool! It sets up a nice cute ambience! ^^
This was sooo cool. Really impressed. It disturbed me quite a bit. Won't say more to avoid spoiling anyone, but at the end, *exactly* at the same moment the end is happening I got a text message which contributed to the unsettlement. Nice job!
Whoa, learning Pixi while doing the jam! You're brave, ha!
This is a cool idea! Unexpected but interesting take on the theme. :)
Polished little sweet game! Like the take on it, graphics are cool and it plays smooth. :) Couldn't finish it, though, cause I'm terrible at this type of games.
This game is super fun. I don't know why you guys don't have more reviews! :) The core mechanics are quite polished, challenging but fun nonetheless. The style and sound effects suit it so well too. Good job overall, guys!
Challenging but cool take on the theme, and interesting execution! Side note that might be a potential bug: I think I got killed or something and the health bar went into a negative state while the enemy kept shooting me :S
Very cool little game! Love the take on the theme, and the concept. Really fun! There was something in me while playing it that wanted to try and throw the ball with effect all the time. :)
I get a "can't open file" message on Mac. :( Would love to try it! Looks so nice on the screenshots!
That was fun! Got to gold 80 and words stopped appearing. Not sure if that means I lost because the list on the right was full? :P Cool stuff for sure!
@persjin Oooh, I beat it then. Yay! :) Don't worry about it though. My winning/end screen is also a bit dodgy. xD I had to quickly work on it on the last 50 minutes or so before the end of the compo.
Very cool take on the theme. Appreciate the Baba is You basis but you've got a nice twist that has something special. I had a cool "whoa" moment when I saw the way you'd jump, just when I discovered I was meant to time it. Very neat ^^ Nice job!
Sweet little game! Love the take on the theme, great execution and the assets are so cute. It really works, and the mechanics build a good basis for some deep puzzles. Good job! :)
Awesome! That was good! Very well executed. Once you get the hang of the beat it gets you into "the zone" and it's super fun to play! Good job!
Unexpectedly cool, haha! I need more planes while I'm flying. Why aren't there more planes? :P
"Who gives a f*** about the score" 😂 Didn't expect any of it. Was surprised all the way through. Bizarre, but nonetheless cool. Wished there was more to see!
This looks amazingly polished! Everything, from countdown animation to characters and setting! The laws mechanic is creative and very interesting to see in execution. Love that you rescued this type of coops. Used to play a lot of these with my siblings back in the 90s! Haha!
This is a powerful take on the theme. Games that explore and expose human real issues should have more strength in the community. The art is gorgeous, and the idea is neat. As said above, I would have loved to be able to interact with the environment a little bit more, it could have been a good opportunity to reinforce the theme even further. BUT, absolutely amazing job!
Cool game, nice concept! :) I found the controls of the endless runner a bit confusing at first, I'd say maybe the camera was being a bit too frantic. That being said, nice aesthetics, loved the small turret animations and the camera/post-processing effects!
Really like the take on the theme! Cool combination of cooking and shooting! Took me a little bit to figure out how to properly pick up monsters (about 3 trials, haha) but there is a good basis for this game to become very fun. Big fan of the big green pool that demands specific ingredients. :)
Such an interesting use of a Match-3 mechanic! And whoa, you've got some nice writing skills. :) A creative take on text-adventures or interactive fiction? Sign me in.
Original take on the theme, with a sweet little mechanic! Enjoyed the run, and the music does a good job making the environment playful. As a side note, found it a bit hard to remember what is it that they like :P Had the feeling that the fact that they asked about football, doesn't really mean that they will like football related messages being sent to them (does it?)
Interesting take on the theme, playing two games at once! Good job :) It was incredibly hard for me though xD
Cute little game! Love the reloading gun mechanic. Very original!
Such a clever idea. You made me care of those platforms as soon as I saw I could make them smile! The artwork and the dialogues did it for me. Great, great job. Thanks for this!
Cool game! Nice execution, cute graphics and music! ^^ I can't count how many frogs I've frozen already!
Love the core mechanic! Really clever! I felt the puzzle part needed some visual feedback of some sort. I won but some of the successful moves that I was achieving I wasn't 100% sure why. :P But wow overall!
Fun mechanic! I like the way you blended those two genres. It could be further explored and turned into an interesting game ^^
Really cute and cool game! I like the mechanics although they felt a bit complicated. Definitely require some dedication to master! The assets, the music, ... they did it for me. Nice job!!
Cool game! :) Stealth + cooking was my pick on the theme too, so I'm happy to get to see someone else's take on the same combination of genres! Ha! I love how you built the mechanic of the mice movement, where they move at once but not always together, and you may leave some behind depending on how you plan your moves.
I like the magical girl aura that you guys have created. It's got something from the 90s that I like. But what really surprised me is the mechanics. It's a really sweet way of merging platformers and cards. Not only building them, but affecting the platforms that were already on the map. Really clever!
Entertaining and interested blend of genres. I'm impressed, specially by the graphics! Those models look neat, good job! Also, thought I'd mention. I got kicked off the field somehow at the beginning of a match and ended up in infinite fall while the other team kept scoring! xD[Screen Shot 2018-04-24 at 18.11.13.png](///raw/22b/c/z/13999.png)
Unexpected, for sure. Weird (in a good way!) and fun take on the concept! :)
This is a really cool way of making the player engage with the story. By typing it you do get involved in it more than usual. It's a very creative approach to the theme! This is something that I could see working in the whole Interactive Fiction genre in a big variety of ways. :)
Really cool concept, and fun execution! :)
