Really sweet game, I love the fact that you need learn stuff about plants and the design serves the gameplay very well. I find it a bit difficult to know which plant I'm looking at (but I also appreciate the real pictures) and I'm sometimes lost when asking questions, it's a bit hard to remember the answers and sometimes it can be confusing. Overall I absolutely love the concept and would really appreciate a complete game based on that, congrats! :)
I really liked the game, it's very cute. It did freeze twice in the tutorial (web version), but that's not a big deal. I would have liked a little more resemblance between the real plants and the pictures in the book. I understand the interest (it adds difficulty I guess) but I find it a bit treacherous in the sense that the illustrations are not very realistic (very pretty, though). Apart from that, I think it's a good game, interesting and rather fun :)
Really cool concept for a game, and I liked learning about the different plants! I agree that it was a little bit hard to match an illustration to one of the plants in your guidebook, but mostly because you couldn't see your plant side-by-side with the photos. That said, I had fun looking for key distinguishing features in the illustrations so that I could figure out which plant I was looking at!
There was one gameplay issue that I accidentally noticed when exploring the UI - Because the prognoses are randomized whenever you open the menu, you can cheat and figure out which answer is the correct one by clicking the prognosis button multiple times, and looking for whichever answer never disappears.
I wouldn't be able to know why but I really liked it! I guess there's something about games where I have to look at information and open and close tabs and examine what's in front of me and then feel smart when I eventually choose the right option.
There's also something really nicely done when it comes to UX and visual feedback. The sounds, the animations... attention to detail does matter.
it didnt really fit the theme but i had fun! I would like to see more plants and maybe a limitation in questions you can ask.
Nice graphics! It didn't seem like there was a win state? It would have been nice to congratulate the user on mastery of the information in the game.
I ran into a crash on the web version, but its an obfuscated stack trace. To reproduce, click on the book twice and click on the left arrow. Error: unable to convert undefined to a number -------------------------------------------------------------------- function _Zx1("unable to convert undefined to a number") function yyGetReal([undefined]) function yyGetInt32([undefined]) function _h11([undefined]) function _my([instance], [instance]) function(2048, 0, [instance], [instance]) function(2048, 0, [instance], [instance])
Nice ! Very peacefull, i really enjoyed the music, fits very well :)
It's a very accurate simulation, like in real life all my planted died... =) It's really interesting and was very fun! Really good =p
Lovely design and great graphics, I enjoyed that it had an educational take. What felt a bit strange was that sometimes the answer to the same question changed and it wasn't clear to me it the "patient" was being dishonest or something like that. Great work!
@comatomatoes Thanks for letting me know. I patched a fix for the HTML5 version :)
@larapoi Thanks for mentioning the freeze. If you know of how you managed to do it I'd love to try and fix it.
@larapoi @koolruz Thanks for letting me know about the reference images. I intended to have that be part of difficulty of the reference book, but maybe it would've been better to have it match the "good" version of the plants.
@luismb55 I did originally think about having the client lie but I removed it from the game because scope and time. What is happening with the different temp questions is it's picking a random number based on the problem. Probably an improvement would be to cache that.
@koolruz *covers your eyes* Don't look at the cheats. I originally only had 4 problems so randomizing it wouldn't have been an issue but like the temperature maybe I should cache it. Thanks :)
Very cute idea!!! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/ZEPFZEokffw
Love it ! It's interresting and a lovely way to learn about plants, plus the rythm with short gameplay sessions is really good !
 cute little game. the arts were lovely and the music is relaxing. good job on making this
Great concept ! I like the UI, it's clean and responsive.
Good job !
An interesting and very well made little game. I really like this one. Well done.
Love the idea. Would like to have one for my garden! The sound for typing text was my favourite.
Nice chill game. I really like the concept of this game and would love to see something like this developed further. Like many, I enjoyed learning about the plants. The music set an appropriately mellow mood. While not a ton of graphics, they were cute and really fit the game.
I think my biggest complaint would be the lack of structure/ending. Maybe stop the game after x number of cases. It could also be nice to see how many plants were saved at the end.
Other than that the game is really well done. Nice job!
BTW, what font is that used on the buttons/text descriptions?
Great concept! Haven't seen something like this here. As someone mentioned, I also wish there would be more resembling between the pictures in the book and the plants (but I also guess it's like this to add ambiguity) and I also found the cheat. But still, great game!
@thecritterscove The game will end after 3 failures, it will then display the number of plants saved.
The font I used was Dosis for the buttons
@pmarincak Awesome, thanks!
