Fits the theme nicely, good idea. Controls are getting stuck a lot though. Nice audio and graphics.

Fits the theme nicely, good idea. Controls are getting stuck a lot though. Nice audio and graphics.
Loved the bass of the music got me really pumped up :). Controls are a little tricky. But overall real nice game.
Nice little game. Progresses a little slow and gets repetitive after a while. Maybe add some more game play mechanics.
Loved Phil's voice. Shazam! (btw. shazam is defined by urbandictionary as "Exclamatory phrase used when striking an unsuspecting victim in the genitalia with a foreign apparatus such as a back scratcher or a crow bar." :D)
As you can't seem to win it it would be cool if there was a score so you could at least battle for the highest one.
Just read some of the other comments and apparently you can win and I am just too dumb. Challenge accepted!
Interesting concept. Just seems very short. Played through in like 30 sec or is there supposed to be more things happening after parking in the zone.
Nice concept but there are some balancing issues. Things are moving so fast that it is pretty much impossible to deflect stuff.
Really great concept and in a good shape for a 48h dev time. Would like to see a more expanded version of it. Real tough AI making it really challenging.
I played the version under Linux and you have some issues with case-sensitive resource names. I had to rename Propane.png to propane.png and Death.mp3 to death.mp3 to get it working correctly. Be sure to check that more carefully next time.
Otherwise nice little game. Enjoyed playing it.
Nice game concept! Really enjoyed playing it. Had to turn off the music after 1 min though as it was driving me crazy...
I like the basic idea behind it and the innovative control scheme. Definitely tricky if you have a lack of hand-eye coordination like me :). Liked the background music a lot as well.
Unfortunately it feels a little unfinished right now (no score, end of game, etc.).
Nice little innovative platformer. The controls and collision detection are a little lacking but I really like the basic concept of the zombie collecting his body parts. The zombie sounds were also really cool
Nice little platformer. Could use some more levels. I liked the retro graphics style of it.
Awwesome game with a great control scheme. Got me hooked from the beinning and I played through the complete game. Great job!
Took me a while to figure out how direction is determined by the position of the cloud. But it is great now that I got that down.
I really like the look and feel of the game. Looks very coherent and polished.
The pixelverse is a great idea. It's a pity that you ran out of time and had to rush the implementation of individual levels. Still enjoyed playing it.
Solid entry for the first time. I was a bit disappointed of the gameplay after the lengthy intro. Maybe focus on gameplay and a complete experience (sounds, fx, etc.) more next time.
@Darkhog and @guzzungo: I had some performance issues when i tested with FF 11.0 even tough I have an i7 processor. The collision detection seems to be causing the troubles. I probably should have put a comment saying "works best in Chrome" instead of "Chrome only"
Thanks for all the reviews and comments so far. I really had fun creating it and seeing that some people enjoy playing it is awesome! Definitely encouraging me to continue making games.
@Raptor85: Hit detection and sound are buggy in FF. getImageData() seems to cause troubles and HTML5 audio seems to suck in general (no browser supports looping without a sh*** delay at restart as of now). I will use flash for audio until browser vendors start fixing this.
For collision detection I calculate overlap of the bounding boxes of 2 sprites and then check pixel values of both sprites in that overlap. If two pixels at the same point have alpha > 0 => collision. This works perfectly fine in Chrome but not in FF.
When I do the collision detection FF sometimes returns undefined for pixel values I check and my condition gets undefined==undefined and you get a ghost collision. Easy fix but I didn't test on FF for the compo so I noticed only after it. Hence the "Google Chrome/Chromium only".
As for getImageData() speed FF seems to have troubles: http://www.mikethetike.com/2011/05/html5-canvas-using-and-optimizing-context-getimagedata/
@quixotic-project, @volando, @basspenguin: Unfortunately I didn't get around to implement catching the E-coli and create multiple levels with more diversified game play :(
Gonna try to go for it at the next LD.
@Rectifier: They aren't fixed-time but they are unfortunately not very much in sync with the speed-up of the game so it gets more frustrating the more it speeds up.
Really polished nice game. Might need a tutorial but it's awesome otherwise. One of the best LD's for sure.
Fun little game. A proper HUD with health, etc. would be nice. Enjoyed playing it.
Nice little space game. Love the Mass Effect parody (still can't get over the part 3 ending...). Really hard to control though. Would be cool if you could see in which direction your thruster fires at the moment.
Nice game. Graphically one of the best LDs I have seen so far. Looks very similar to the screenshot of Cliffrunner from your page at http://sidetrackgames.wordpress.com/games/
Nice, fun game. It feels very polished and finished. Really enjoyed playing it.
Nice little runner game. But holy smoke the guy is fast! I was thinking of editing the JS to slow it down :)
Great game! Gets a bit repetitive after some time but the concept is awesome. I really enjoyed playing it.
Awesome little space shooter! Loved the background music.
Nice game concept! Only made it to Level 5. Couldn'd make it to the labyrinth anymore. Controls could use some fine tuning but otherwise great game.
Nice little text adventure. Haven't played one of those in ages. Time to dig out zork again :)
Needed a while to figure out how to connect the cubes. After that it was still very hard though. Very tricky to foresee the impact of a move.
Like the little defense game. I feel like it needs analogue controls tough. The way it is setup it gets really tricky to aim at incoming guys from a distance.
I liked it, very relaxing game and nice background music. The fact that you're not really knowing which direction you're exactly headed needs some getting used to but makes it more interesting and challenging in the long run.
I agree with Beanalby that the cell-thingies (baddie?) on the edge get frustrating. Would be cool if there could be some sort of indicator on the edge that a cell will spawn at a point soon.
Love the art style and time travel idea. Couldn't figure out what to do after I recharged the drill and fixed the panel in the future.
Good overall idea. After setting up some trades/wars though the game feels more like a computer model simulation than a game. I like though that you went with a strategy game. I think those are very hard to get done within such a short time.
Really liked the idea. Would love to see an expanded version of that with more levels and sound.
It can be hard to keep orientation sometimes I think some sort of compass always pointing north or something would be great. Another cool feature would be to have a reset level key for guys like me who end up in the middle of nowhere routinely and have to wait til the oxygen runs out :)
Awesome little puzzler. Really like the artwork.
Cool little game. Loved the animation when the black cat gets hit. Could need some sort of score keeping.
I also feel quite dizzy now after defending kittens for a while. Too many rockets flying around in circles :)
Really enjoyed playing it. Controls, art style, animations and music all seem to be very polished and complete. Amazing work for a 48h game. I felt lost though and didn't really get the purpose of the game.
Nice concept. Would love to see that expanded. It's hard to keep track of all the planets there should be some kind of global overview.
Agree with the previous reviewers. A little of that extra polish could make it a really addicting game.
I suck at platformers so it was way too hard for me. Gameplay feels very smooth and complete thanks to double jump and dash.
Nice little point-to-point platformer. Controls are pretty hard to get used to.
Great concept. Really enjoyed the animations. Though the first levels seem trivial it gets really challenging later on.
Great game with amazing level of polish!
Not sure if Emscripten is feasible for HTML5 game development though. >15k LOC seems pretty heavy for a game like this. Runs really slow on Chrome 18 on an i7.
Maybe Mozilla can fix those performance issues but I would bet on wide spread availability of Google's Native Client before that. NaCl at least seems to be lightyears ahead in performance
Nice complete RPG. Amazing that you pulled that off in 48h. Reminds me off the old Zelda's or FF's.
Cool idea. A pity that you didn't get around to finish it. The animations of the little dudes are awesome.
Nice complete shoot'em up. Sounds feel very coherent. Game runs smooth and and fast for me. Reminds me of the good old "Metal Slug" days :)
Gonna use Dr. Nano for some practice and then dig out some of those again.
Cool concept. Really tough game tough. I tried at least 20 times and couldn't shoot the damn other guy once. I really like the hand-drawn graphical style of it too.
Cool game play concept. I think this could be a great game on a smartphone if you rotate the world based on the device orientation. Reminds me a lot on www.andyetitmoves.net/
Cool little platformer. Nice idea with the lighting scenario. Game seems a little laggy on Windows 7 64-bit even though I tested on an i7 and none of the cores are over 50% utilizations. Can't seem to get the BG music out of my head now either :)
Fun little point and click adventure. Creeped me a bit out from time to time but I enjoyed playing through it. GQ definitely needs some therapy...
Managed to get it in the air and then floated through some screens with description but didn't really get what to do from there on.
Nice game. Reminds me of some old school games like Ultima.
Nice animation of the lady (love the subtle wrist movement when she pinches). Really hard to survive if you don't just pick the boat up in the beginning which seems to stop the red guys from disembarking.
Awesome platformer! Loved the artstyle and the combination of the recorded sound effects and background music. Really enjoyed playing through it. Great job.
Takes a while to master the controls but is fun once you got it figured out. Once the first boss thingie shows up (screenshot 2) it pushes me off the screen regularly tough which gets pretty annoying
Very polished and nice UI and innovative game play. Very complex for a LD game. Really enjoyed it.
I like the concept and some of the artwork. It's a pity that it's in a bit of an unfinished state.
Nice concept for a puzzler. The red guys make it a bit frustrating though.
Needed to fail once and see the tip with the red dots before actually figuring this out. Great game. Scrolling can get frustrating sometimes and the red dots are a bit tiny. But it's a nice innovative concept.
Solid platformer with nice innovative game mechanics. Definitely needs some difficulty tweaking but otherwise awesome
Really like the style of the monsters. Enjoyed playing it. Can get really tricky to coordinate moving and shooting but it's nicely balanced.
Nice little puzzler. Sokoban with some nice little extra touches to it. I am impressed by the amount of levels for a 48h game.
Really nice platformer. Enjoyed playing. It's a bit hard, but that might just be because I suck at platformers :)
Nice little defense game. Controls are a bit tricky. Really liked the background music.
Cool idea with the nose. Took me a while to figure out that I need to charge (should have read the damn instructions). The breathing background noise creeped me out after a while though :)
Like the concept, especially some of the Tinyville Confidential news ("had an embarrassing spat about Star Wars vs. Star Trek" :D). It's a pity that you didn't get around to add winning condition or negative points for enemies next to each other.
Cool concept. Don't know why but the fast-paced style reminded me on Z. Great job!
Love the fast-paced pixel style. The rain makes it pretty tricky to see your shots in the beginning. Enjoyed playing it.
Nice innovative robot game. Really enjoyed playing it. Very complete and polished.
Nice innovative concept. Really enjoyed playing it. Screwed up the first time. Got to 3 friends the 2nd time but don't know how to progress further. Couldn't close the application properly either. I had to use the task manager to kill it.
Nice little game. The line concept reminded me on Chalk Ball. The tilt controls and short lived lines can get pretty frustrating sometimes tough.
Cool little shoot'em up. Like the upgrade system. Made it to wave 17. But those little UFO thingies are tough. Enjoyed playing it.
Took a few attempts but I finally got home with my brewskis after defeating the evil worm thingie :)
Real cool concept. Had a blast playing it.
Liked the relaxing background music and overall concept/game play. Movement of the planet is a bit too predictable.
Gets you hooked though. Especially after johnfn announced his high score and I desperately tried breaking it without success :)
Cute idea. Who am I to argue with Al Gore? Nice soundtrack as well.
Quite surreal but good for some laughs. I especially liked finding "The Key" :)
Nice gameplay and graphics. Took a while to figure out what's going on. Some sort of health indicator would be nice. Played quite a bit with my wife :)
Nice endless runner style game. Punishing difficulty. Especially the big iceberg is tough to avoid. One develops a love/hate relationship with this game kind of like with Flappy Bird.
Nice graphics and polished gameplay. Was a bit hard to figure out what to push so I just ended up pushing a mix of everything to the surface :)
Well done. Quirky in a good way, not what I originally expected.
Nice idea. I wonder how many story combinations there are total. Would like to see this concept further developed.
Nice game. Graphics, sound and the little shake effects made it a very immersive experience. Also nice progression in gameplay.
Nice addicting game. Time was just flying by playing it :)
When boulders came down on both sides simultaneously it sometimes felt like there was no way to escape.
Wow. Great game. Awesome graphics, nice controls, complete package. But god damn this was frustrating at times :)
Long story line with multiple branching points. Nicely done. This must have taken you a while.
Nice ramp up in difficulty. Good music/sfx. Player physics felt a bit wonky. Felt like jumping around on the moon :). Very enjoyable
Nice concept of controlling both characters simultaneously. Character gets sometimes stuck on walls. But overall well done
Really nice soundtrack and graphics. Crazy difficult though. Couldn't make it past Level 3
Interesting take on Snake. I found the lava and water very hard to control, but it was fun to play.
Nice gameplay twist. Endless eater should be its own genre. Love the music, especially the one on the menu screen with the splashing
Nice game. Great atmosphere and graphics. Also not a straight forward shooter but you have to think about how you're going to approach the next enemy
Great lighting and atmosphere. The way back from the west wing was rough. Juggling escaping and cell phone use was challenging. Enjoyed playing it
Nice tower defense like game. The shotgun almost felt more satisfying than the machine gun after it. Needs an auto shotgun for best of both worlds :). Music and SFX are great too. Really set the mood
Nice concept. Really feels stressful to juggle all this problems at once.
Fun platformer. Feels very complete. Level design is great introducing mechanics one by one. That last level took me quite a few tries.
Hilarious concept. Loved the sounds the potato makes when it gets tossed in the air. Keeping the potato airborne was challenging enough. Getting condiments on top of it was impossible. Great job! This is the kind of stuff I love Ludum Dare for
Fun little game. Very complete. Music, Sound, animations, the whole package. Killing the knights off takes quite a few hits. If there're no wizards to deflect spells off around it can be challenging getting through them without taking too much damage
Very nice audio and graphics. Really immersive. Timing on some of the events is really challenging
Great music. Really catchy. It was a bit challenging to figure out where you need to go. I'm also not sure if the enemies can do anything to you or if you can just ignore them
Great atmosphere. Music really helps set the mood too. Dear god that last gas can was tedious. You need to make a sequel where I can burn those damn plants down with a flamethrower.
Nice typing game. Glad to know that earth defense is in the hands of a MS-DOS prompt
Nice survival game. Has a bit of a Don't Starve vibe. Feels very polished as well. Great graphics and sfx set the mood nicely
Cool Hotline Miami Style shooter. Dig the music. Controls can be tricky. Really enjoyed this one.
Nice idea. Gets quite hard real quick. The hammer, shoot mechanic feels really nice
Nice game. Really dig the adorable graphics. But this fish was just not meant to make it
We clearly have different understandings of the word "easy" :). Really polished rythm game. Only managed to do ok on the guitar. Drums and keyboard were brutally difficult.
This is hilarious. Trying to run back to keep grandpa alive but struggling to fit through the door with the damn respirator in my hands. The sfx made me laugh as well.
Great little card game. Really polished. Especially the graphics look great and it fits the theme well. Not too many mechanics but this feels like it should be explored further after the jam
Nice platformer. Graphics are amazing. Probably the best I've seen so far this LD. Very polished overall and the gameplay feels great
Nice little top down platformer/shooter. It gets brutally difficult real quick. Checkpoints would be nice
Nicely polished top down shooter. Very impressive entry. Music sets the mood really well. Controls feel nice. The recoil on that triple gun though is extreme :)
Lots of stuff packed into this game. What's happening in the card game was hard to follow but somehow I won. The sneaking was nice
Fun game. I was amazed how many levels there are. Reminds me a bit of Quell a mobile game that has similar controls. Very enjoyable.
"this is the end for you". nice little platformer/text adventure mixture. the platformer sections took me quite a few tries. very challenging.
i had to reverse engineer some portions. couldn't figure out how to go straight ahead into the "treasure room" or how i get to the state so i can attack the shadow. but it was easy enough to figure out in source code.
Nicely done! I felt the existential dread of windows updates and dark UI patterns. Once you've figured out the 3 different lose conditions it becomes very easy to keep it going. Maybe more tasks or randomization would help mix it up
I have a real hatred for seagulls now. Took me a couple tries but I finally managed to keep at least one alive. Sound and some more visual hints would be nice but I really enjoyed playing this
Nicely done. Feels like sometimes in a narrow area there's no way to avoid the enzymes. Really enjoyed the graphics of this one
Nice little asteroids inspired shooter. Reload time is brutally long sometimes
Wow. This one ramps up 0-100 in 10 sec :). I liked how you have to juggle keeping the circle going and killing enemies at the same time
Nice gameplay. Gets incredibly difficult real quick. Only made it to 2300. The music is great too. Really addictive
