I like the graphics and gameplay, and that the game actually feels pretty "finished". Definitely very cute!

I like the graphics and gameplay, and that the game actually feels pretty "finished". Definitely very cute!
well designed levels, nice controls, the levels are really frustrating :)
The concept is pretty nice, and the graphics are cool. I like all the dots flying around on the screen. Sorry to say I too had to mute the music.
Pretty, and I like the puzzling and exploring. I'm used to high mouse sensitivity so it didn't bother me :)
Wow, some more people need to play and rate this game! It is very engaging and interesting, from the great sound effects to the twitchy art, the fluid controls and the simple addictive game mechanic. Very well done.
Very fitting for the theme! I think eating two pieces of bacteria at the same time only counted as a single piece? It would be nice to have a little faster paced action, but I can see how these levels get out of control really fast. :)
The story is really cute, and had a great presentation :)
This game has everything, a great idea with fantastic amount of polish, solid gameplay and lovely graphics with a nice soundtrack. Simply the best game I've seen yet.
This one was great! The premise is very funny and I like stealthy games. Camera controls were frustrating when you're trying to make sure you can see but not be seen. Also the human seemed to find me very frequently with their back turned. Cute sound effects and quite a bit of 3D art for the time constraints!
Oh no! The video looks nice and I'd love to play, but when I start the game I get some garbled yellow lettering, and the rest of the screen is black :( Hope a bugfixed version comes out, since the game looks fun to play!
I'm really impressed at how much you were able to get done; I wish there were a rating for technical skill or game scope. One of the few decent 3D games I've seen in the compo. The pacing of the gameplay could use some work, but as with everything else I'm sure it would have been fixed with more time :)
I really enjoyed the graphics and the jetpack physics.
There should really be a rating for polish, you guys would always score off the charts. Lots of fun to play. I type really fast and this makes fast typing very aggravating. Thankfully, the words don't reset when you mess up. Unfortunately, the words don't let you reset until you're done typing some asinine way to spell something :)
Hey, thanks for the comment! You're totally right; I wish I could have had someone playtest the game before I released it. I hope to upload a more final "non-compo" version with some bug fixes and cleaner rules. When I get home I'll also try to upload some videos of myself playing just to demonstrate some of the subtle rules. Hope you enjoyed playing!
I'm sorry about that! You have to have the latest DirectX runtime installed; most gamers with windows machines have it installed because it's required to play most modern DX games. I'll put a link to it in the description.
The art, music and feel of this game are great! I'm a big Ikaruga fan so this really appeals to me. I don't see how it fits in with the theme, but I approve of you making a great game that you actually -wanted- to make. Do you think you will post the source?
This is a lot of fun! I really like the concept and the graphics. Boss rush is always better when you haven't already beaten the bosses. I hope to see a more polished version after you guys get some rest!
Wow, the game looks great! I'm not sure how much unity is giving you for free here, but it's clear I need to learn to use it. I like the power ups, the art is definitely my style, and the shade mechanic is cool! great job.
This one is really excellent, the gameplay is extremely frustrating but very addictive, it's very stylish and clever, fits the theme perfectly; awesome job!
Nice! I just got done with FEZ and so the adventuring aspect is really appealing to me right now. The platforming is a bit rough because without visual or audio indicators of exactly when the player walks off the edge of a platform, it's tough to make some of those long jumps. But I really enjoyed the journey.
The gameplay is a lot of fun! I would have bought a game like this for my old Nintendo system. Very difficult gameplay (I guess I'm just not used to it). Very nice nostalgic feeling.
As been said, the concept is great and well executed! Of course more levels are needed, but the gameplay and style are great. Excellent prototype!
This is adorable and really clever. I love the style! Only great things to say about art, graphics, fun-ness and overall quality. excellent job!
I really loved the graphics style! Really impressive the amount you got done in such a short period of time. The mood was really nice, and the theme worked well also. Tough to find my way around, and player physics/controlls could use a bit more work. Very engaging game!
Interesting idea! The interface was kind of rough to use, it was tough to see how my actions were affecting the game, since I didn't want to constantly click the stats button each time I made a move. The premise is nice though, and has a nice, solitary soothing feel.
The graphics and sound were really well executed, and there's a nice polished feel to the game. The overworld map is great! It gives a really nice feeling of progress to the game. Good job!
I thought the concept was pretty wacky (in a good way). I had similar ideas for the theme at first, but abandoned them for accessibility reasons. It was difficult for me to get a hang of the gameplay, but the idea is quite nice.
I like the explosions! It got pretty hectic until I realized I could hold the space bar and the arrow key and go nuts.
This was great, gave me the feeling of rampaging through GTA1/2, but with a much needed increase in speed. I loved the cars piling up, and I also loved running through traffic. The character selection and special skills were a nice touch; great job.
I love the art style, that's what I was planning on going for. I was a little lost on the gameplay, and I wasn't too sure about the theme until I realized I could beat up the eskimos by running into them :)
This was fun! Very nice art. I was expecting some audio cues when I got hit.
Really well done. The music is great (surprising no one). The gameplay is simple, challenging and addictive. I wish the fez mini-game was playable ;)
Nice and colorful, the gameplay is fun but some balance work required. I feel like there's too many dudes, or too little damage done to the princess, or she walks too fast/ I walk too slow. I love the princesses five o'clock shadow :)
I also collected all the books and wasn't sure what to do from there. I was checking out the constellations, but again nothing; maybe I didn't look long enough?
Very atmospheric, a good feeling.
This is one of the few ideas that I was considering, I'm really glad to see someone made it!
I think the gestures are a great idea, they remind me of magicka (though without the combination factor). The obviously difficult part is figuring out combinations for spells; 9 points with very specific combinations is much too complicated. I think we need some sort of diagram/tutorial to explain the combinations.
I rage quit :)
I love that you have a button to stop the music (not that the music was bad). The art is great and the humor is fantastic. One of my favorite ones yet.
Excellent presentation; I'm a big sucker for atmosphere. Too short but of course that couldn't be helped, especially with your attention to quality.
The character animation was hilarious. The gameplay was extremely tough; I never found a good occasion to use the laser.
I love the color puzzling! Very nice concept, a pleasant surprise; I expected something else from the screenshot.
Definitely tough! It was hard to match which planet corresponded to which ship after they left. I also had trouble getting my fighters to go after the opposing battleships. The game concept feels solid and I can imagine the scale increasing to add to the fun!
The timing is brutal! It took me a while to figure out i really wanted to press the arrows when the shapes hit the edge of the outer box, not when they're inside. The graphic design is very nice and it looks like it would work well on a phone. Definitely enjoyable!
Thanks for playing! My friends and I have a lot of fun trying to get as close as you can to another player to make them absorb all the bullets; it's hilarious to seem them rocket away. Glad you liked the music. It's actually 8 different segments and each segment is randomly selected to avoid being overly repetitive.
I definitely agree with the time between matches being too long. I should have added a slider to the GUI to reduce the time between matches, or a maybe checkbox to display the score.
I like the music at the end of the game the most! The puzzles are simple but interesting.
The music is fantastic, one of the best mood-setters I've played so far. I think I have similar issues with the controls as other commenters.
Very cute! I had trouble knowing exactly where the bounding boxes were based on the size/shape of the sprites. I liked how challenging it was; i like that you could get stuck and have to try the level over, as long as the levels aren't too long.
I like the bounce animation. The linear acceleration feels off, but the double jump feels pretty fun. I like that the jumping velocity is still applied even if he hits the ceiling.
Had trouble trying to figure out what to do about the traps. Otherwise, the lime green on black simple Atari graphics were working for me!
The audio and mood are incredible. I really appreciated the voice acting. The assets and world construction definitely get the point across. This is definitely my type of game.
I was able to get it to run, Win7 64 bit Java v7 update 21. The only part that looks different than the screenshots is the text background is not transparent.
I loved piling the blocky remains of my enemies to climb the wall to the next section. Definitely fun :)
Having R for restart was really important! The gameplay is quite fun, but extremely difficult. A UI would be nice to explain how many "coins" kills you. It would be cool if jumping makes you bounce off of the normal of whatever wall you were on, instead of just jumping "up"
The audio made this extra fun :) I liked the literal use of "minimal" with the shrink ray. Even though you used someone else's character, I liked that it put me in a specific frame of mind. I agree with the gameplay issues about being stuck; perhaps a respawn button that only sets you back a few units in the world?
Nice! There's a decent amount of polish on this one. It feels "complete" with the graphics, audio, and gameplay. I wasn't able to kill the God, I wonder if you can?
I'm amazed at what a great environment and setting you could make in the time. I really liked the feel of the game, and lots of interesting content!
At first I thought the potatoes took too many hits, but then I realized I just wasn't swinging fast enough :) The graphics are excellent, music is good and the design seems implemented well.
Holy crap those graphics. I know you said downvote the audio but I'm glad you used it; it really makes the mood and feel of the game. I had some significant difficulty trying to figure out what to do next, but the art and scenery was just so interesting I was having a great time just hanging out and walking around. Way to go!
I really like the presentation. The noisy background of the title page and the story text and simple colors was really appealing. The gameplay was fun and quite challenging. The only other thing that would be nice for the LD entry would be some simple background humming or sound to give a little depth to the world.
The graphics and animation are really top notch! I'm impressed. The gameplay is very cute, definitely that wario-ware vibe. Nice showing!
I appreciate all the options, and the music really adds to the mood of the game.
Saving the kids is the best ending :) I love the amount of depth created with the floating text, the reverberating music and the pixelated forest layers. I just wish the jump key wasn't W :)
Nice concept! I like how action based it is. Definitely would be a great multiplayer couch-action game.
Very nice! The particle system and noises add something very cute to the game. The challenge curve is very good, and I'm a sucker for this type of motion.
Cool idea! I didn't realize at first that placing the gravity object closer to the flying dot would cause it to move faster. I wish I could see more score when I died!
The game seems well implemented! I like the drawings and the writing. The most difficult part is the controls. I'm not sure why you chose the < and > keys instead of the arrow keys. I didn't seem to find any sound?
The art was great and the motion was smooth. The acceleration from running feels rather off where it's too slow at first and ramps too quickly. I also got caught on the edges of boxes a lot. The gameplay idea is simple but good!
The animation is great! The spelling in the game is just ok :) It was difficult to figure out exactly where the hitboxes for the weapons were. The voice acting was adorable.
The graphics are fantastic, the music is nice and I love the gameboy style display. Very nice!
Well implemented! Very confusing at the beginning, I could really use a hands-on tutorial (maybe not possible in the time limit). But I liked the idea, good job!
I really love the split screen where you have to watch both simultaneously. There's a lot of parallel world games where you shift from one to the other, but it's cool to work within both simultaneously. I swear there were some puzzle configurations that can't be beat :)
Extremely unforgiving! A fine match for the theme :)
Graphic style is enjoyable, the audio is simple but great to listen to, the gameplay is fun. Very nice entry! Great job.
I also don't have an android device but would love to see this being played. Maybe you could upload a video to youtube?
I really enjoyed this one! The graphic design and theme are spot on, and I love the originality. I think the game mechanic really works. I like simple color palette and that combined with the audio remind me of an Atari :)
I really like how interesting the gameplay can be with the simplicity of just one button. I appreciate the co-op option! I think the hardest part was location awareness; since I kept flying off screen I kept losing exactly where I was.
I was wondering where the sound was, and then I started hearing some creepy noises. I thought they were coming from within my house for a moment. Definitely the creepy effect you were going for :)
I like the idea. I wasn't sure how to "complete" a word. Perhaps if there was a specific word the player was asked to spell and a time limit to spell it?
I came here for the pixel art. I love the visual style. I had trouble getting past a handful of different sound patterns.
I got lucky with some blue blocks the first time, and then the difficulty really ramped when I started with some red blocks the second time. I totally love the blue blocks, their sound and square particles are awesome. But the red ones have a lot of character :)
The art is fantastic! I am sad to say I had a lot of trouble figuring out exactly why I was dying; so perhaps some feedback from the body that killed me would be good. I also think the pulse should have been free; it was frustrating being stuck somewhere with no visible solution. The mood and tone were excellent, and definitely built an environment I wanted to explore. Very cool!
Great job! I think the most enjoyable puzzle game I've played so far this LD.
Here's a innovative idea that was really taken to a successful level. Audio, visuals, mood, innovation and theme are all great. Excellent work!
Holy crap this was great. Playing it I thought it was a jam entry and just now realized it's just 48 hours! I haven't played a game that made me so anxious in a long time. It was surprisingly challenging. Funny enough when I was going to give up the first time, you gave me an achievement for getting that far, and it encouraged me to keep going. Excellent job.
I really enjoyed this one. The graphics and animation were very cute, the music was great, and I really liked the zen-like mechanic; meticulously running over every block. And challenging. Very nice game!
The puzzeling was good. For some reason I had a lot of trouble with performance; it got me into a lot of trouble when one of my blocks got pushed just a little too far.
I like this one a lot. Despite being minimal, the physics really gives it depth and a natural feel as well. I think the physics and mass controls work very well! It took me a second to figure out how to start, but I loved the title screen :)
Very nice! I thought this was a very cute idea, and I was glad that the theme made for a good mechanic (I always instinctively hit the backspace key). The dictionary had some cute entries but I got a little tired of typing the same thing so many times; but all that takes is more entries in the dictionary. I thought it was a lot of fun to play!
Definitely points for the idea, it has potential. As always, love the artwork!
@AlanZucconi keyboard support added!
Nice graphics, but the music is so sad! Maybe I just feel sad because I annihilated that poor Christmas tree.
I love the look, I'm a sucker for the retro style graphics. The theme worked well with the game, but it was unfortunately a little too short, although it shows potential! I plan on taking a look through the source later, since this seems like a good intro example to unity :)
very difficult to survive! I totally loved the animation.
That's really cute, hope your girlfriend liked it!
I like the clean minimal look of the graphics, and I think the difficulty was escalated appropriately. The music really fit, however it doesn't sound like it was made during the time limit specifically for this game?
Very cool! I wanted to make a game like this as well some time :) I like how when you're aiming you can freeze in the air for a brief moment. It's also funny that you can hit yourself with your own ball.
This is beautiful. I'm a sucker for romantic games. It's obviously short but the polish is what makes it stand out. Graphics, audio, presentation and the message are all great.
I tried to beat it but it was painful going up hills :) As others say, the graphics are great!
That's quite a lot in only 5 hours! I got the same "random" number the first 5 or 6 times I tried. I still can't figure out what the correct wire to cut is after I open it.
I really like the concept of the game. It might be an even better multiplayer style game, like a racing game.
I was making my way to the end over half the length of the plane just punching people until someone stabbed me. I'm never getting out of there alive.
I came for the nice low-poly style and stayed for the fun gameplay. It's sometimes difficult to figure out how to aim, and once you get the hang of it the forward motion is a little slow, but I still had a lot of fun. The bad tree at the end was awesome! A note on the audio, I think you're supposed to compose the audio yourself within the time limit.
Oh man this is awesome! Extremely well executed. I like the gameplay and the atmosphere. Well done!
I had a really tough time jumping over the pillars without the jet pack! You might also want to make the start button something other than "P" :)
The graphics and sound effects were great, and the character is very cute (were you going for something like red from transistor?). I enjoyed playing, but I have to say I didn't feel that the way the theme was implemented did much to enhance the gameplay.
Great collection of artwork and story, it's been quite some time since I've played a point and click adventure so it was pretty nostalgic. I got two of the endings but didn't find my way to the best ending (though I was happy with the second one I got :) )
The art is great, definitely pulled me through a few extra playthroughs. I think many of the pieces were executed well, but the game logic was a little confusing where it seemed there was no way to totally get the correct answer without guess, which makes a pass/fail style of rating frustrating. The scoring confused me, because it would be nice to get a better score for guessing correctly after checking fewer clues, but the score didn't seem to work that way; so there was no incentive not to check every room, and hence no point to the score. A little more consistency to the main objective of the game would make it a lot more fun for repeat plays, but still a very nice job!
I really enjoyed the feel of the game, urgent but relaxing at the same time, without too much going on to manage. I had trouble exiting; I played for about 20 minutes and the tree didn't seem to get bigger even though I seemed to fight off the pollution. I couldn't quit with the esc key, alt+tab or even task manager; I eventually found out it restarts if you press F2? Could you list the keys please?
Very cute, the graphics are nice and the menu system at the top and the continue screen give the game a more polished feel. Nice job!
Mine starts and then exits immediately, no error message :/ It plays the sound for a split second so it's probably not the audio libs.
I can't stress enough how awesome this art style is. Very nice job on the art. I unfortunately couldn't figure out the game play, but I'll give it another shot if you can post some more detailed info on how to play it?
I'm glad you tried to expand on the theme in a meaningful way, instead of just saying "you've got one bullet" or "one life". I also like how the story is interesting for debate and a little educational in the wikipedia sense, while not coming off as too preachy. I think it was tastefully done!
Very cute, I was surprised at how much you got done in that amount of time! I played vs CPU, I'll have to play again vs 4 friends; I've got 4 controllers.
I agree that it's got a nice style. The graphics are nice, and the game feels fairly complete. Nice job!
One of my favorite ideas to fit the theme, and beautiful art to go with it. The game is fun, but lacking a real sense of urgency (maybe difficulty ramps too slow?) since it doesn't seem like you can die by touching the enemies, and you are only knocked over briefly if they attack you. Timing out was adorable :)
Man this game has a lot of great personality! Very nice job. I actually got really excited when I won :)
That's quite a large environment! I'm pretty amazed how much graphic and audio content you two were able to pull off.
I like the sound effects, and the shield graphics are awesome. It's a bit trial and error when you start off just looking around for the other ship. It also seems easy to beat the ship once you find it, I never lost as long as I found it within the time limit.
I always love playing a shmup. If I could change one thing, I think I would make the hitboxes smaller. I think usually if anything, they should be smaller than the graphic, not larger.
Really great graphics, the puzzles and sounds can use some more time to flesh out. I keep coming back for the nice pixel art :)
Really incredible graphics for 48 hours, looks great!
Whaaaaaaaat the fuck just happened. I don't have words, only emotions. Great job :)
I died at 137 every time :) I like the clean visual style and simple to learn, difficult to master gameplay. Good job!
Finally beat it! I kept doing the north one first, which you should really do last. Outstanding work all around, congratulations!
I really like the two modes of fighting and town building. It reminds me of Act Raiser. The art and animation is very charming, and the premise is very cute, one of my favorites so far!
Whoa this really surprised me, after just the screenshot and description. Very cool, the gameplay, graphics, audio and theme are all very well executed! The look behind feature is cool but just a little weird when you get walking forward again. I think the concept was very innovative and wonderfully executed, great job!
Stuff like this is the reason why I use my 5 stars so sparingly. You guys totally earned it. This is certainly the most beautiful and LD game I've ever played. I like the music, and I love that you added more tracks as the circle puzzle was solved. I wish there was more to the gameplay so we could get a better feel of the intent with the game, but as it is I really enjoyed walking around.
I thought the screenshots looked decent but the animation added a whole new level to the graphics, it's excellent. I think the concept is unique, having a tower defense on one level and a game like dungeon keeper on the bottom. I never got to a point where it seemed like what I was doing below affected what I was doing above ground but that would have been cool (like you can build "reinforced" units on area's you've already dug out, etc.). It seemed like the pathing of the goblins was a little strange where if I dug in a straight line, only two would dig and the others would just wander away, and sometimes when I'd go to the top they would have all wandered away from digging, and I wasn't being invaded. I'm glad to see multiple difficulties, and basic sound covered, you really accomplished a lot in the time frame. I also wanted to say thanks for the thoughtful feedback on my game; you had good suggestions and it shows you really took time to play it.
Excellent mood, graphics and audio from Incredible Ape as usual :)
Thanks a lot for letting me know about the crash. I think it's a problem with creating OpenAL sources, it's very difficult to catch during the crash but I saw it once. I wasn't able to figure out why the audio source failed to create, but I should just be better about reusing the sources anyway :) Thanks for playing!
Wow, I really got the impression of being a huge robot/monster. The music was great, the sound effects were excellent, the camera motion when you walk really put you in the scene.
I'm a sucker for squares, particles, minimalist design and fluid animation so I really loved the graphics. I was sad there wasn't any sound since SFXR/BFXR make it very easy to toss in some sound effects, which I think would add a lot to this entry. Gameplay is simple and pretty solid so there's a lot here to like. I really enjoyed it!
Great job with the camera movement, the weapons, and the animation. I had a good laugh the first time I fired the grenade launcher :) Blowing up the bats was really gratifying.
The graphics style is top notch. The game is beautiful and responsive, and although it is very difficult it's really fun to play. If this were released on the Nintendo I bet people would remember it fondly. Very good job!
Fucking Romantic
I really enjoyed the camera zoom. Glad to see some more local multiplayer games!
I really like how the world falls on you. It's great that it's not simply an average platformer, it allows for some much more interesting puzzles.
I like that there's no HUD (it doesn't need one), and I think the bubbles are a nice touch. Controls make it pretty difficult.
I think my brain melted.
Impressive! The menu/gui is cool, the animation is cute, the SFX work well (although a tad loud but that's ok). The gameplay is pretty brutal and I was really never able to make it very far. It doesn't seem like there's anything I can do to attack the guards, so the game is a lot of trial and error to build a mental map of the level.
The graphics are nice. When the whale comes back down and you're tracking his shadow for where to fire the harpoons, you might want to have something that prevents the player from just spamming the harpoon button; like a charge shot that does more damage if you time it correctly, etc.
I'm impressed you got the rewind implemented so well in the time limit. The graphics and audio are nice for what they are. It seems very disconnected from theme.
Since you used RPG maker, and the install comes with a whole mess of content you didn't create, can I ask if you actually made all the content (audio in particular) yourself within the time limit? I also get the silent hill vibe, very moody :)
Certainly beautiful music, I'm glad that not each pickup was the same sound. Would be cool if the pickups were a different note according to their position on the screen (like a piano roll)
I love the character and enemy designs.
Glad to hear some sound since it's usually neglected. Gameplay was good once I realized I could hold the mouse button down to continuously drop mines :) I liked the warning symbol to let you know one of the ships is being taken; it's simple but easy to overlook. I think my favorite part is how the ships slowly right themselves when they reach the top of the water and play a water noise when surfacing.
Very nice presentation!
Wow the music and graphics are fantastic. I love the sound and animation when the snake eats a disco ball. I had a lot of trouble actually catching the disco balls, there were a lot of occasions where I thought I should have caught it with the tongue but it didn't work.
Is there some hunt for red october, Sean Connery going on here? Took me a second to realize the planes and missiles going left to right are bad and right to left are good, but it's obvious once you realize it. The graphics are simple but the night sky looks really interesting. Solid work.
The music and atmosphere of the sfx are great, and I love the camera perspective. It's very interesting. The cuts to still images when something in the scene is being highlighted (the guy playing music, going to work, getting hit by a car, etc.) are very well placed. There is some really nice attention to detail too, like when the cars stop at the crosswalks.
The graphics are great, I really like the opening menu :) This type of game is right up my ally. The ship controls are a little frustrating since I have to rapidly tap left and right to fly in a straight line. The obstacles were difficult to see at first but I quickly figured out what to look for.
I like this! It's like dungeon defenders. I like the simplicity of building a single tower with all defenses in the middle. Graphics are cool, although the enemies stand out a bit as not fitting in with the resot of the style (though they're good enemy models! just different from the environment). Very nice work.
I like that you tried to do something more challenging and impactful with the theme. You can tell you put a lot of effort into the system where the game takes place. I read through and understood the help, but I didn't understand the placement of the cards, or exactly how my selections were impacting the playfield. Maybe you can update the description here with a tutorial on how to play?
I love the art in this one. It took me a while to realize that I didn't have health, but instead when the enemies are over top of me then my score reduces. Is there ever a reason not to hold your mouse button down? Seems like you could just over the mouse over the enemies for the same effect.
I really appreciate the unique and original gameplay. I'm a big fan of low poly flat shading, and this game definitely had that. The interface was simple and straight forward and it was easy to figure out what was going on (something that can be difficult to do when you make unique games). I think it might have benefited from a little ambient music. I found it pretty frustrating when I was going after one of the enemies and they were able to move faster than I was. I think in order to focus on the skill and eliminate frustration, the challenge should either be discovering the enemies location (since they're usually obstructed and you can just see the path of their bullets), or from the skill needed to catch up with the enemies when you don't travel at their speed by judging their path (without making it difficult to find them). Just my two cents, but I think you could make the gameplay stronger by focusing on one of those elements (I personally think mapping their trajectory without making it difficult to find the enemies is more interesting). Overall very nice game! It's complete and interesting, it fits the theme well and it's fun. Good job!
I like how you mentioned that it was inspired by super hexagon, but it's clearly got a different feel to the game. I haven't seen anything quite like this before. It's cool that just focusing on one of the lanes doesn't get you the best result, you have to be aware of all of them.
Very nice job! I love the graphics. Sorry to hear about the music causing you to file as Jam and not Compo. The art, graphics, gameplay and style are all cohesive and complement each other.
I like 3D platforming, and I appreciate the backstory. The environment was very static and as was mentioned in the above comments, could use some effects. Some simple sfx and background music would also help make the world feel more alive.
I really liked the animation of the characters, especially when they fell apart. I hit a few bugs with movement, and also it seemed that none of the guys I stabbed were real! Glad this is the direction you went for the theme.
Parallax looks great, and I really love that the bullets can destroy parts of the level. Seems like the random level generation works well. I did notice there was no game over condition when I got swarmed by bats :)
Very cute, the sfx for the pig eating the truffle is fantastic. Everything works well together, nice entry.
I really like the mission select screen. This is the most well developed backstory I've seen so far. I understand what you're saying about wanting the player to figure out things for themselves without telling them anything. I'm not sure if I didn't experiment long enough, but it seemed that there were no clues to be gained outside of trial and error, which makes it difficult to complete. Great job with the theme.
This feels "complete" for a minimalist evolution game. The graphics and sound work well, the evolution menu is interesting, it's exciting to see the little guys grow up :)
I found it almost impossible to fall into orbit without hitting the starting planet, and once you hit the planet I found no amount of throttle could get the rocket to take back off. How does this relate to the theme?
I really like the graphics overall. Love the music filter when you go underwater. Definitely looks a lot like race the sun to me, but I don't think that's a problem (it's not exactly like it in gameplay regardless). This is an occasion where the sum is better than the parts, which I mean as a compliment; I like the graphics and music and gameplay individually and I think put together this is a good Jam entry.
I love the procedural planets, and the gameplay is solid. Very impressive that you completed all the major aspects to the game (usually people cut sound/music and tutorials to make up time), especially for your first individual LD! I got stuck at the level with the 3 planets blocking the galaxy, and another red/orange planet sweeping across the screen. Great job!
