LD24 — Evolution

Beast Feast by UndergroundPixel 2012-08-28T20:36:00

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I did the programming for Beast Feast and had a lot of fun with it. We had a good team for art, sound, and design.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Time Frame by Random Seed Games 2013-08-27T16:02:00

@mr_tag Yeah, I really wanted to fill the large environment with more slow-motion scenery, but we ran out of time. And yes, the music was all created in the 72 hours by my composer friend Clark Aboud. He is working with me on the soundtrack for my game Lacuna Passage as well.

Time Frame by Random Seed Games 2013-08-27T19:03:00

Working on an Oculus Rift build right now :)

Time Frame by Random Seed Games 2013-09-12T13:45:00

Just added download links for the updated version on the web player page.

LD28 — You Only Get One

XenoSerf by My Sweet Whomp 2013-12-17T07:14:00

Fantasic art and an awesome variety of characters!

Mega Gungineer Chronicles 3: Final Gun! by StoneMonkeyStudios 2013-12-22T21:42:00

Love the graphical style. Was confused on where my health was though.

You Only Get One Limb by vapgames 2013-12-17T04:49:00

Nice take on the theme, and great visuals!

Dodgy Ball by Random Seed Games 2013-12-17T05:30:00

@emmelineprufrock Yeah, the player select stuff was added in very last-minute. Overlooked that little detail. Would fixing that be qualified as a "bug fix" for competition rules? Or would it have to be listed as a post-compo version?

Dodgy Ball by Random Seed Games 2013-12-18T16:17:00

Sorry, but no keyboard controls for this one. It wouldn't make sense with the analog aiming in the game. Holding a direction on the joystick directs where your ball is thrown. Please don't vote if you can't play. Thanks.

Dodgy Ball by Random Seed Games 2013-12-23T14:54:00

@LordHellMaX Yeah, I only had xbox controllers to test with unfortunately. Glad you were able to play still.

@rico.albe You managed to point out most of the bugs/issues that I didn't have time to fix during the jam. I really do like the gameplay of this game though so I may come back and do a more polished release at some point. Thanks for your feedback.

Dodgy Ball by Random Seed Games 2013-12-30T23:51:00

@Harsay Keyboards have a max number of keys that will respond to being pressed at the same time. Most keyboards max out at around 6 keys at one time (depending on which keys) so that would make it pretty much impossible to do more than 2 players on a keyboard (not to mention how uncomfortable it would be). I still think analog aiming (full 360 degree control) is important in a game like this. Even though Dodgy Ball is much simpler, try to imagine playing Smash Bros on a keyboard. Aiming attacks even in 8 directions wouldn't be precise enough I don't think.

The art was a result of trying to learn all the new 2D features of Unity while developing the game. I had never touched the sprite features or messed with the mechanim animation trees. That took longer than I thought.

Dodgy Ball by Random Seed Games 2014-01-04T17:07:00

@01101101 Thanks!

FinalDefender by Faust 2013-12-27T15:21:00

Overall I think your mechanics are solid. Took me a while to figure out what to do, but it is an interesting take on the theme.

Life According To Bob by Ariake81 2013-12-17T04:19:00

Enjoyed the visual character progression, nice stuff!

Double Cannon by michail 2013-12-30T15:35:00

This feels like a very complete and well-polished game, but the difficulty balance is a bit off. I felt like I didn't have to do much and by the time it started getting difficult for my cannons to handle, no amount of aiming them manually could save me. Great art though and interesting design choices.

Red and Gold by Christina Nordlander 2013-12-31T00:01:00

I feel like this was a lot of clicking for very little payoff. A Twine game should give me something new to read as often as possible. I was skipping past the repeating text as much as possible. The concept and setup was interesting though.

Captain Younkin's Quest by ZYXer 2013-12-30T16:23:00

Mechanics were pretty solid, but I agree with the other comments about difficulty. I died the first time I set out to attack another group of pirates, but after upgrading it wasn't as bad.

0RBITALIS by AlanZucconi 2013-12-22T21:17:00

I kinda wish that the planets didn't start moving until after you launch. It would be more puzzle-like in that regard, but I suppose this has it's own challenge as well. Very cool.

Old MacDonald vs Zombies by rogueNoodle 2013-12-17T04:25:00

Good fun and great art.
Can't imagine how that field must've smelled with the sweet combo of rotting corpses and cow patties...ugh.

OneShot by minibutmany 2014-01-02T17:44:00

So simple, but very effective. Nice work.

youGOO! - a webcam game by thebrainfuse 2013-12-27T02:12:00

I really wanted this to work based on the screenshots and description, but I just couldn't seem to be detected accurately. Interesting idea though.

The Terrible Battle Between Men and Turtles by saulopz 2013-12-27T02:08:00

This is a fun kind of crazy. I feel like if the controls weren't quite so binary it might be more interesting. Nice work though.

A Night on the Express by JimmyDelaney19 2013-12-17T06:00:00

Nice atmosphere and great use of the theme!

And that's a killer fez...

Tara by Namide 2013-12-22T21:46:00

Dead simple idea, but executed pretty well. A bit more randomization in the first wave would help, otherwise I'm not very inclined to replay.

Unibrow by ViliX64 2013-12-30T16:36:00

Pretty well-rounded experience. Well thought-out and fun to explore. Nice work.

YOGOB by sprawl 2013-12-22T21:52:00

The way the game is presented made it difficult for me to understand what I was doing. Interesting idea that could use a bit of polish.

You only have one quantum hyperdimensional nuclear fusion powered neuro-AI cube...and button by Prophet Steve 2013-12-30T15:41:00

I found myself fairly confused for a bit. When I finally started getting the hang of switching controls it started getting too difficult skill-wise. I feel like the challenge in a game like this should be more puzzle-based, but this was a very interesting approach to the theme.

The blue orbs by Martomate 2013-12-27T15:17:00

Nice job completing your first entry. You definitely have the ground work for something that could be interesting, but as it is right now there is not much challenge.

Recursive Loop by Jean Phenix 2013-12-22T22:01:00

I really like contemplative exploration games, but unfortunately I just don't think there was enough here to inspire me to explore. Movement speed being so slow was the most frustrating. I like the idea of an exploration game with such abstract graphics though.

Hose Before Bros by Gamelabbers 2013-12-30T16:46:00

Excellent work on the audio and graphics. Simple but fun gameplay too.

Stretch Bouquet Point by mister_morris 2013-12-27T02:20:00

I don't know what that was, but I feel like that must be what I child feels like when they do something wrong and don't understand why adults are yelling at them...

Direction by hannardynamite 2013-12-22T21:20:00

I think the main thing keeping me from replaying is how I can randomly be killed immediately after respawning. Interesting idea though.

Ludum Simulator 3000 by 01101101 2013-12-27T15:33:00

This has been my favorite so far. If only for the novelty of it. The typing parts could have been a bit shorter.

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-22T21:28:00

pretty satisfying little pixel shooter. The audio was starting to grate on me though.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Remote Island by eolhing 2014-12-12T15:08:00

This is a pretty nice foundation that I could see expanded on, but as it is it was a bit tedious. Liked the audio.

SnOwDuDeS by Dir3kt 2014-12-09T16:10:00

Very nice, not overly difficult but still challenging. Pretty fun too.

Snow Shoot! by CogComp 2014-12-12T15:29:00

Simple but fun. Nice work!

Dream Heist by gallerdude 2014-12-10T14:23:00

Interesting idea and decently executed. Graphics could definitely use some work though.

SUPER FUN FAMILY PRIMETIME TELEVISION SIMULATOR by Random Seed Games 2014-12-09T01:49:00

@ParaPup, yes, it ends after 4 minutes. You can tweet your score at the end.

SUPER FUN FAMILY PRIMETIME TELEVISION SIMULATOR by Random Seed Games 2014-12-09T18:45:00

@DesignerNap The original plan was to create all the show images ourselves, but we simply didn't have the time. It took more than 4 hours just to gather the snapshots we have now. There are over 200 unique frames spread over 64 shows and 16 channels and the family members' likes/dislikes are matched reasonably with what you might expect. If we ever come back to this idea we would love to do unique parodies of each show.

SUPER FUN FAMILY PRIMETIME TELEVISION SIMULATOR by Random Seed Games 2014-12-11T17:26:00

@MrShoestore Thanks! I just went and played your entry too. If I remember correctly you are a backer of our Kickstarter so you should have access to the demo that we recently put out (that you already played at MDGS). We enjoyed taking a break from LP development to take part in this.

SUPER FUN FAMILY PRIMETIME TELEVISION SIMULATOR by Random Seed Games 2014-12-11T20:45:00

@Pulsatronic Your family members were probably distracted from the TV and not earning you points. The game directs you to click on them to get their attention back. The game also gives you a lower total score if there is a large discrepancy between the scores of different family members. The family member with the lowest happiness brings down your total score.

SUPER FUN FAMILY PRIMETIME TELEVISION SIMULATOR by Random Seed Games 2014-12-12T17:17:00

@regisRquoi Thanks! Yes, the distractions can help or hurt you.

The number buttons do work, but you have to input the actual station number of the channel you want to go to. I can see how it might be an improvement to just have the channels go from 1 to 16 though instead of randomized channel numbers.

TV World by Levi D. Smith 2014-12-18T01:10:00

This is a really solid little shoot'em up. One of the few games I've played here where I was compelled to keep trying to get better. Nice work.

Santa's Seasonal Slayfest by GarethIW 2014-12-09T16:36:00

Quite fun, but had a hard time with the controls/view of the game. Liked the idea though with the crowd throwing in weapons, good job!

Garden of Brewery, Science and Malice by mortus 2014-12-11T15:24:00

Unique looking and playing game, though sometimes that unique-ness leads to confusion. I was never really sure what each play did when I was upgrading them.

Galvatross by ShuddaHaddaLottaFun 2014-12-11T17:23:00

Hey there! Really awesome retro entry. Loved the music and graphics. Collision boxes seemed just a bit strange compared with what I was expecting from the pixels, but I adjusted pretty quickly. Nice work.

Freedom Isn't Free by Almax27 2014-12-11T14:56:00

Really great atmospheric art and music. I ended up stuck in a building with no second exit just shooting constantly at zombies coming through the door. Some kind of scoring/win condition would be great.

Alt-Tab by robopossum 2014-12-09T16:15:00

Very funny approach to the theme. I found it pretty enjoyable although the game to decrease boredom was quite difficult I thought.

Mobile gamer simulator by skyr 2014-12-09T17:02:00

Fun idea, and it was executed pretty well!

Doodle vs Homework by Kep 2014-12-09T15:58:00

The theme and graphics for this are pretty cute. The platforming controls could use a little work, but nice job.

MetaLD by ibilon 2014-12-12T15:12:00

Cool take on the theme. The desktop mechanics and graphics were really solid. Wish there was more of a puzzle than just "find the bad file". Nice work though.

The Unlikely Adventures of Peggy LeDig by Mark Venturelli 2014-12-16T15:00:00

This is really simple but surprisingly fun. Would like to see the mechanics expanded on so it doesn't get so repetitive, but for a short play session I quite enjoyed it.

Entomophobia by DoubleS 2014-12-09T16:07:00

Very nice. I really like the feeling of old school gameboy nostalgia it gives. And the difficulty felt really solid. Awesome work.

Escape the TV! by Dexyne 2014-12-18T01:14:00

Short and sweet, but pretty fun mechanic. Nice job!

Summoning of the Santa by Slothmachine 2014-12-15T16:02:00

This is definitely in my top three I've played so far. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in style. Excellent work.

SnowSwarm by Ping78 2014-12-15T19:47:00

Love the ambition of this entry. The basic mechanics were pretty solid, but I did sometimes have issues selecting units. Would love to see the idea expanded on.

Syracruse Station by Erfeo 2014-12-09T16:02:00

Very interesting take on a classic shoot-em-up game. I love the weapon variation, but it could really use a slow paced first couple levels to get used to the weapons. Great job!

murder of Zafu by Franklin's Ghost 2014-12-11T14:58:00

Awesome art. Would love to play more.

Gadget Panic starring Godzilla by Orangy Tang 2014-12-15T15:34:00

This is a great idea that I just wish worked a bit better in practice. I had a good time with it and would love to see it improved and expanded on.

PIXELTRON by GameDevExtreme 2014-12-15T15:50:00

Couldn't really identify the strategy that is the "best". I just kept getting money and buying lots of bots. Interesting concept, but you probably should have opted out of the Graphics category since you are using a Unity third-person controller model that you did not create.

Biased & Blazed: Beyond Belief Beyond Control We're Stoned as Shit and Ready To Roll HYPER DANK EDITION ALPHA+ by Nairu 2014-12-09T16:20:00

Solid all around. A good game that rewards replaying and practice. Fun song too.

Fire Tactics by MechanicMoon 2014-12-09T16:40:00

Really like this concept and it works pretty well having to manage multiple controllable characters. Nice graphics too. Good work!

Meowcalypse by Bonobo Games & Mechanic Moon 2014-12-16T15:09:00

Awesome work on the graphics and audio. Fun little game, but I agree with other comments that the difficulty curve could use some work.

Apocalypse Screen by victorljs 2014-12-09T15:58:00

Looks pretty neat for a game concept, but eventually having more variation or missiles types would help. Controls felt a little off as well. Great job though!

Aliens? On Stage? by Wolfgang_ 2014-12-09T03:35:00

The basic game loop is a good concept, but I found the controls and collisions a bit unintuitive. Congrats on your first entry!

Snow Fight by MysteryMeat 2014-12-09T15:19:00

It does seem quite difficult. I agree that multiplayer would be great.

Mr. Duck and the room0 by brainstorm 2014-12-10T14:19:00

Simple but fun. Nice work!

Farm for Space by pixzleone 2014-12-09T16:25:00

I agree with other commenters that it is near impossible to dodge the falling rocks... it's just luck if you are under it when it falls.

Title Screen by regisRquoi 2014-12-12T15:02:00

Pretty cool concept and with a bit more polish it could be a really fun game. As it is I found I was often just waiting for the arrows to get out of my way before I could progress.

Radius Man by mrcarmody 2014-12-09T16:42:00

Nice work for your first game! I had a couple times where data spawned in locations that were impossible to reach because they were blocked off by the minions. Otherwise this is pretty solid.

Coloured Ink by BaneStar007 2014-12-12T14:58:00

I honestly had no idea what I was doing to influence the game outside of just making colors larger.

Ferchault's Island by SushiDestroy 2014-12-10T19:50:00

Excellent job! It's a bit rough around the edges (pun intended) but quite good all-in-all. Could use some balance changes and controls could use some work.

☃s Revenge by sathorn 2014-12-09T16:50:00

I could not manage to catch any of the humans at all. Pretty funny take on the theme though. Nice work.

Time to safe love! by miascugh 2014-12-09T17:08:00

Really cool idea. Normally I would complain about controls like this but it fits the game really well and makes navigation the challenge. Nice work.

Don't touch my gifts! by nov1kk 2014-12-09T16:23:00

Got to wave 11 before dying. Fun stuff, but using the grapple to reach the top felt a little stiff on the controls. Great job!

A Carrot Game by the-arrival 2014-12-09T16:55:00

Not bad, a little simple - but looks like you accomplished what you were aiming for in 72 hours. Nice job!

Sorceress Wars by aidinviper 2014-12-11T14:51:00

Really solid little game. Great use of mixing up mechanics with your fantasy theme.

Nebula by UrbanLogicGames 2014-12-09T16:35:00

Interesting approach with a grid-less battleship style. I like how the probes point out the direction of the nearest enemy ship. Cool mechanic.

Dock and Cover by LimeniusTeam 2014-12-09T16:51:00

Almost had level 3 but gave up when i was slightly at an off angle with no way to quickly correct it... You need some side-boosters that direct your ship laterally or vertically I think. Great job!

Lights Out by Forge 2014-12-09T16:05:00

This is a really solid entry. The shooting felt pretty good and I really liked the slowly shrinking lighting effect. The controls sometimes stopped responding and I'm not sure why. Nice work though!

Tama by kill0u 2014-12-11T15:27:00

This is a really cute and well executed idea. Nice work.

No name by somebear 2014-12-09T16:13:00

Your idea is interesting, but obvious I would like to see where it could be taken with actual mechanics in place. Best of luck in future attempts!

DFGH Mission by Germain 2014-12-09T16:46:00

Very fun stuff... Its like a complex bop-it played with your keyboard. I was a few seconds away from getting back to earth, and man when those commands back up on you it feels pretty intense. Nice work!

Gray Goo by Arowx 2014-12-10T14:33:00

Excellent execution with the magnification concept. Well done!

Snowma'am by udo 2014-12-09T15:44:00

Beyond the painfully slow controls I think this is a pretty solid entry. Enjoyed the art and application of the them.

V for Vectory: Maximum Overquill Edition by quill18 2014-12-11T15:06:00

This is one of my favorite games so far for this LD. Excellent job!

Kaleidoscope by Madball 2014-12-15T15:40:00

Simple idea that is well executed. Fun, but as others have said, the difficulty curve is pretty tough.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Lizard Crash by Taldius 2015-08-28T13:13:00

Well rounded little game. Fun, funny, looks decent. I did end up getting stuck in geometry after blowing up the military base with the nuke though.

The Monster Who Was Not (Yet) A Kiwi by Yakka 2015-08-25T16:23:00

cute... but kiwi fruits are fuzzy too.

The Monster Inside by Random Seed Games 2015-08-25T15:48:00

Yeah, I would have liked to have more of a "choose your own adventure" feel to the game with multiple endings, but we just ran out of time. That's why I labeled it as an Audio-Visual Novella ;)

Pinky's Nightmare by zenmumbler 2015-08-25T15:13:00

Interesting idea, but there are a few things that keep me from enjoying the experience. Control choice would have worked better if there was an indicator on the player model that showed you which direction you were currently facing. When the camera angles switched it was very disorienting because the player model looks the same from all sides. Also, the lighted regions of the maze were not enough of a landmark for me to ever feel like I knew where I was going. Perhaps a smaller maze with better visual landmarks would be more reasonable.

Child's Play by gty 2015-08-25T14:25:00

Love it! Mechanically very simple, but it's amazing how much the character designs increased my enjoyment of it overall. Very cute.

Trick Parade by SimonLarsen 2015-09-04T23:45:00

That was surprisingly fun. Nice work!

Impostor by aviktorov 2015-09-01T13:38:00

Very interesting idea. I had trouble figuring out what details were relevant, but I suppose that's the challenge. Nicely done.

Peace is a lie! by komjaur 2015-08-25T20:07:00

Not bad. I had a few times where I seemed to just bust apart when flying through a pickup... as though I actually collided with it.

Beware the Kraken by HellBlazer 2015-08-31T17:50:00

Interesting idea. I'm not a huge fan of games like this, but it seemed well made.

Adula by conormn 2015-09-01T13:54:00

Really great art and mood. Short and sweet :)

Pok Pok Roarrr! by Dikkop 2015-08-25T16:08:00

omg... drowned chicken made me laugh out loud. Cute idea. The text sections were longer than the actual game though :(

0G by Jimjam 2015-08-26T13:53:00

Very cool idea. Had trouble finding any repair bots, but even still just floatin around was very soothing.

A Game Where You Are ANY Monster by Saphyre 2015-08-31T13:27:00

Interesting idea. The writing was kind of all over the place. I didn't really know what my goal was, but I was still compelled to keep playing. Nice work with the text.

Meet the Monsta by Schrodinger Games 2015-09-03T16:34:00

Well, that was something... I think I found a bug where I was able to just constantly shoot a laser without needing to click anymore. Really great graphics and audio. Nice work!

Player Rush by Hot Box Games 2015-09-10T14:03:00

This looks so good. Love the art style! The potential for more strategy would be a nice improvement, but for 3 days this is very impressive. Nice work!

Orphan by Rialgar 2015-09-08T21:33:00

I like the use of the theme and the general mechanics, but it was simply not holding my interest unfortunately.

Forest monster! by hunttis 2015-08-31T16:42:00

Really nice and simple. Got it instantly. Fun too!

Monster Munch by Fitscat 2015-09-09T13:36:00

Thought it was a pretty solid entry, but could use a bit of polish. Fun idea!

Blockluster by TheLocust 2015-09-01T13:28:00

The barrels fall so fast and random that it seems impossible to play this game with any skill. Strange theme decision, but I still had fun with it.

YOU'RE IT! by luizgama 2015-08-26T13:44:00

I just got a game going with my brother and it was really fun. Impressive work for a weekend project!

COP RED by dizshok 2015-08-25T16:12:00

Decent entry, but I don't see the theme here. Shooting felt a little off from where I was aiming also.

Have A Cow by BulletsArePeopleToo 2015-08-25T17:46:00

Cowamari Damacy!

Who is it? by LavaGhost 2015-08-25T15:56:00

Can't seem to run the web version due to java security problems.

No Country for Troll Men by aberdeenphoenix 2015-08-25T17:22:00

Really solid little game. Only took me a few seconds to get the basic premise which is great.

I am Death and Fire by derr 2015-09-01T13:50:00

Wow... this is really impressive. Love the art style and the mechanics. I wish there was a way to control your speed though. It was hard to target the balloons with how fast I was moving.

Henchman by sylvainAB 2015-08-25T15:53:00

Seems to run fine on my machine, but it's a pretty good gaming pc. The controls kind of feel like patting my head and rubbing my tummy at the same time, but eventually I got used to it. Good visuals, but I found it a bit tedious to move around.

Bad Kitty by JennyS 2015-08-25T16:16:00

Simple but cute. I like the concept, but it gets pretty repetitive pretty quickly.

Aliensche! by HiVE interactive 2015-08-25T14:34:00

First thing I wanted to do was be able to pick up a soldier and position them in the air to get hit by their own missile! Fun game though :)

Hide, Mr. Hyde by glimaleite 2015-08-25T14:31:00

Loved the introduction of new mechanics throughout the game. At first I thought it would be pretty repetitive, but I found myself surprised by each new level. Very night work.

Dreadwolf by PIN34PPLE 2015-08-31T13:36:00

Decent atmosphere, but it doesn't feel like the layout/design really fit with the theme you have chosen. The maze is very tight and difficult to navigate, but I found I could just want for the enemies to come to me.

Hugs by Granat 2015-08-31T19:24:00

Love it. Very simple, but running around hugging people to death is just awesome.

Tentacle Rescue : Summer of Love by Casper 2015-08-25T14:42:00

Difficulty curve is very odd... I feel like scores will generally be grouped at a single area in the game.

Saturday Morning Destruction by roaringcatgames 2015-08-31T17:43:00

Only complaint is the same as a few others have noted, where the beat doesn't really seem to match with the button presses. Really cute and well done otherwise.

Strider by CiderPunk 2015-09-09T13:33:00

I had a bug where my legs never appeared, but still a nice effort for the theme!

Didn't get a chance to try with multiplayer, but it was still really fun and the mechanics were simple to understand. Nice job!

Very cool. One of the best I've played so far. Love the audio touches when you get pickups. I really enjoy when a game makes the sfx sort of "in tune" with the background music.

Too bad that this isn't more polished because I can see the potential. The controls and wall collisions made it nearly impossible to move.
