It was an interesting game. A nice concept, it greatly resembles Joust. However, I find the controls to be very stiff, and it's difficult to really change directions. I'm not sure if this was the intention. The graphics were pretty nice, if a little stiff.

I can't start the game :(
I press X but nothing happens.
@Leo, Try clicking on the "WEB" link to play it from the webpage.
The gameplay is pretty simple, but the graphics are really cool. Nice work! :D

Fun game, I wish you would have added an attack button. It was fun and nice to play. Controls are kind of sticky. Also, why did you add humor as a category?

Man, that title screen and music was awesome, I wish you had more of that flavor in the actual game. The game was pretty fun, interesting use of the Joust mechanics while introducing some new stuff.
My main criticism is that the worm hole and teleportation were a pretty clunky. I never really figured out how the worm hole worked, but it seemed like a god ability.
Nice, I dig the title screen and pixel art

nice take on baloon fight, love that game

Amazing graphics! The wave audio felt like an alarm which annoyed me lol (That might just be me though because i'm really tired). Solid gameplay although I believe if you were to be inspired by Michael Bay and add more explosions i'd get more excitement out of it. Overall Great effort and art is amazing!

Joust clone? With a twist? hehe :)
Loved the art :D
Good job

I really enjoyed your menu music and animation, it got me pumped to play. I got kind of confused because there doesn't seem to be a loss state, though. My portal got really, really large, to the point where enemies would just spawn and go right in, and there didn't seem to be any impact on the game. I'd just get the next wave. I also died a lot/drifted off the screen without any apparent impact. So, ending a death screen of some sort would probably help!
Thank you for the game!

Really nice art, and the music fit this era of gaming really well. The flapping felt a bit slow and not as smooth as something like Joust but I enjoyed it. I really like that teleport mechanic, it's fun to use! Well done!

Love the title theme song!!!
I like the menu animation & music a lot-- reminds me of going to the arcade back in the day! The controls are a little sticky and hard to get used to but I like how chaotic the game got over time. And I love the dog-bat-things. :D
I like the music and general style. I tried this yesterday but didn't rate because of some bugs and difficult controls. Tried it today but still have a bit of a hard time with it. I also didn't understand how to attack the first few times. Could be really good with some more polish! :)
Joust with a teleport? Neat idea, though movement felt a little clunky, and occasionally a little bugged. The title screen and music were spectacular!

Well done, the combination of attacking down with mobs' high jumps creates quite challenging fighting mechanic!
Interesting mood to the game, you nailed the arcadey feel but it also felt unique with its interesting visual style. Gameplay was very Joust-ish, and I liked the teleport feature. Pretty good stuff!

I like the graphics, intro music and concept idea. Still, I don't understand very well how to kill those enemies. I guess is by colliding with the teleport move, but sometimes I died for doing that.
Also when you lose a life, if an enemy is there in the spawning point, you lose another life.
Overall, the game is good, but needs some improvements.
Like the idea behind it. Flying did feel a little stiff, and I didn't realize I needed to protect my portal until I fully read your description. I just flew around killing things, and picking up drops. I also didn't realize where the indicator for my lives was until my second playthrough, and sort of wished I could see my score as well.
Nice concept, took a while to understand but this has potential ! This need to be less buggy. Dying take to much time x)

I scored 11300.
I appreciate the Joust homage but some things bug me. I was often killed by enemies on the platform above me, i.e. they killed me through the platform.
The mix of pixel art at various resolutions against the the blurred background doesn't look unified.
The teleport is interesting but seems buggy... the enemies sometimes rapidly zip around unexpectedly when I use it. When it does work it seems totally OP because there's no apparent limit on it's use... but then sometimes it results in instant death as an enemy zips across the stage, through platforms, to my position.
This game is awesome! I really suck at it though. Really great graphics.

Hey there! Really awesome retro entry. Loved the music and graphics. Collision boxes seemed just a bit strange compared with what I was expecting from the pixels, but I adjusted pretty quickly. Nice work.
Nice music. The game play was really fun.

Nice one screen retro platformer with difficult controls.
Nice game, simple but well executed. The controls were a little sticky, but still serviceable. I really like the title screen a lot, it's fantastic.
I find teleport mechanics very interesting!

Nice weird game. It reminds me of Joust. The graphics are good & I like the arcade like rotate effect on the logo. Wish it was a little bigger on screen, though.(I played the web version) Nice job overall.
Score: 10500! Fun little game, love the music and artwork!

An old arcade game style like all old gamers will like. But, as sayed by others, a little difficult to manage controls, even with the very usefull teleporting ability. That says, still a good entry. :)
Was Confused to how I actually kill the enemies later on a figured it out but other than that It seemed like a fun concept and I still managed to play the game. Although it still is pretty difficult to kill the enemies

Its basically a Joust clone, but with a nice twist. I like how the portal acts as a random timer to complete each wave, and how u can fight against it with the crystals. I did find the controls very hard to work with, especially how the jump button activated on key UP instead of key PRESS. Some simple refinements to the controls and i think it would be a great simple game

I like the art, especially the background and how detailed it is. I also like how it was darker, while the foreground was light, so it didn't get in the way at all despite being detailed. The art in general had a cool style and the creatures had lots of little interesting details. I'm not sure if I like the teleport mechanic. I don't like how everything sort of stops while you have to choose where to aim, it kind of kills the action just for that second. But, at the same time, teleporting to kill the enemies itself was cool. I'm not sure how else you could implement teleporting without having to stop to aim it, and without just making it a fixed distance teleport. The flying and movement itself felt solid. I liked the defending the portal mechanic, it gave more purpose to the Joust game than just the high score. Sometimes it would be annoying that the creatures could get into the portal from below that middle platform, but it was only because I had let the portal get too big in the first place. Sound was a bit harsh (bfxr?), but it provided feedback well. The music at intro was cool, but no music while game sadly :(

Nice Joust variant. Loved the mood and artwork. The whole retro arcade feel was great. Need to tune the controls, movement, and collision detection to really maximise the fun.

Great name. I liked the art (although the smooth-scaled pixels were a bit distracting).
This game actually felt *more* responsive than Joust (at least as I remember it).
I didn't realise that the screen wrapped around until I'd been playing for a while!
Hm, Joust with different graphics and slighty non-working mechanics ... graphics is nice anyway. Polish the mechanics more.

I definitely like that you were going for an 80s arcade vibe. ;) Although, the graphics seemed...too detailed somehow? And the gameplay wasn't quite as polished as I think it should be. With Joust you zoom around rather quickly, this feels much more sedate. I suppose that's tied to how the Tranglors wander toward the portal? Hm. (By the way, are the mechanics basically the same as Joust? I mean, I just assumed...)

A classic platformer where you fly and avoid birds. Graphics and sound/music are okay. This game is fun to play for a while.
Great mood, simple but challenging gameplay - the controls are a big difficult. Nice entry!
Nice catch on old platformers theme

Very nice Joust clone. Had a lot of fun playing. Initially I had issues getting it to start by pressing X.

Music and graphics were great, really had an old arcade feel to it. I had some trouble with the controls, after I killed a Tranglor I got thrown left and it continually pulled me in that direction until I died. I really liked the teleport mechanic too. Fun game, great job :)

Interesting take on Joust. I don't think you should be allowed to fly off the top of the screen, however.
I really like the effect of the little red guy falling after you get hit by a tranglor. Great title screen music! You're right that more sound effects would help, but maybe just having music during the gameplay itself would be helpful as well.
The teleport move is a cool addition to this kind of game. Nice work!

This is a solid, polished remake of joust. The portal is an interesting addition. Lovely presentation, audio was a little .. challenging in places, but the music was fantastic. Would have liked some ingame music too.
Also your title screen is immense. Amazing, Awesome. I love it. There should be a ludumdare category purely for title screens
Really interesting game! I Included it in part 19 of my Ludum Dare 31 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :) http://youtu.be/hTIxzyGfxwg
