Wow the marble really does look a lot like Oxyd. I hadn't seen Oxyd before, but was inspired by a lot of amiga games (particularly psygnosis games), by which I mean I tried (quite badly) to emulate the style. I totally agree that the stickiness on collisions is a real pain, and the game should be a little faster paced. The limitation of 48 hours, eh?
I did a very similar concept, so maybe I'm biased, but I liked this. Also you've done it in XNA which was probably non trivial. Nice effort but would like to see more levels and some sound. Also I cracked up laughing the first time I got flung around by an enemy :D
Love it. Was following this one as you wrote it (I'm @voxel on twitter) lots of fun, meets the theme, just not a lot to it. But I'll be damned if I can stop flinging birds around. Some tighter collision detection would be awesome though
Second AClockWorkLemon, really enjoyed this (especially when I finally beat the map where you're surrounded at the very start, but the music wasn't really my cup of tea.
Yeah sorry about that. Got a bit carried away and was developing on a somewhat beefy machine. I did realise it wasn't working on more modest machines and spent a couple of hours trying to fix it up but failed, and decided to try and just get more of the game done.
I agree with everyone's comments that the game could [should] have been scaled down considerably.
I'm travelling at the moment, when I get home though I'll try and sort out the issues and maybe someone will play a working version that doesn't require 1.2GB available RAM just to start :). Dynamic loading didn't figure it's way into my rushed coding schedule I'm afraid :(
whoah I completely was not expecting the tunnel section of the game. nice hidden section
Nicely balanced for an LD entry. Nice smooth controls. Liked the aesthetic, could have used some more varied sound, but most importantly I'd like to see pixel perfect collision detection added/fixed :)
accidentally won in just one button push. Really like the Jeff sprite though, especially his eyes
I cant run Silverlight here :( didn't vote.
I've looked at quite a few entries and this is my favourite by far so far
couldnt get this to run :( won't vote for now
the art style here was particularly close to my heart <3 good work. would have been nice to be able to rotate the camera to see the Mothers that were out of shot
Sorry about the music, it was a last second late night Sunvox pattern slowed down a lot and slapped on without any real loving care. I'll see if I can make something a bit more interesting and tighten up the graphics for a post compo version. Glad people are liking it <3
This game is just about perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about it
best game I've played yet. was pretty freaking terrified to turn on the torch, expecting some kind of evilness to already be in my face
One of my favourites of this LD. good work. Really liked the first music track but would have preferred something a little more intense. Losing during the second level has a really nice ending, though if you're patient it lets you move through the planet. I was half expecting to find a floating cat out in space
Really liked the way you display player health in this
the countdown really makes this game. nice work
Anything that involves not smashing into things in space gets my heartfelt vote
great setting, atmospheric and more than a little spooky
hahah best ending
Thought it was a bit gimmicky, but then after I realised I was still playing after ten minutes humming along to the resonating exploding moonlets I decided it was really rather good :)
This is great. Would love to see this grow into a full game.
got stuck a couple times but overall very nice. good music, but i'd have preferred something a little less moody
Amiga forever
I've given up on the ludumdare journal as it never works for me. I waffled a bit on twitter (@voxel) and far too much in #ludumdare (also as voxel), if you want to give me any community points for distracting you from your work
DDRKirby I hate you <3
Charming game. No music or sound for me though (so i didnt rate on audio). Also thanks for including two wells into the green marble, I appreciated that :)
Bit confusing but quite a bit fun too eh
had some pretty bad stuttering when things got hectic but otherwise really nice
Loved everything about this except how easy it was. I need a macho mode please
was nice to play a side scrolling space game where i didnt have to shoot anything. Really liked the overall mood and humour of this one. good job
I actually really liked the controls too. Was half the fun of the game
Glorious
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz :p
excellent audio. rest of the game was okay, but really great sounds
i wish you'd called this naumachia. still, fun game. best i've played so far
Really loved this, easily my favourite game of the dare so far
Nice presentation, nice ideas
Lots of nice elements brought together here, but I think the music really let it down
Lots of fun but too difficult for me. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't kill all my people :(
Uhfgood this game is genius. Seriously a great idea. Think you might expand on it?
Best music LD24!
Promising start, hope you expand on this
Too good - lots of fun. Would have liked for my inbred kittens to have developed some kind of awful mutation, but maybe next time?
awesome uber supercool. weird request: crumble parts of the level as you play
I really like the look of this but no friends, so I'll skip voting on everything else :)
Fun, but I really wanted to zap my people. Accidentally of course
THIS IS SO COOL aaahhhhh
Loved the end music. Lots of fun
lots of fun, liked the audio. only complaint was that my constant spamming of space means the game instantly restarts when i die :(
Couldn't work out how to go through the portal. Finally managed to align kitty with it but clicking the portal or the kitty or jumping straight up had no effect :(
Nice to see an entry that takes longer than 30 seconds to play :). Would have liked a little faster pacing but I think it works well
BEST AUDIO PRIZE
BEST BLOND GROCERY WORKER GRAPHICS PRIZE
most annoying ninja.. prize.
I hope you enjoy your prizes as much as I enjoyed your insane game
Wow. Why have I never seen games mess with the page background outside the 'game frame' before? It was kind of fourth-wall-y and kind of awesome. Have all the votes
quite liked this :). would be nice if you captured the mouse pointer. also the sensitivity is through the roof and i can see a lot of people being too confused to be able to finish it
<Spoiler>
You have to use the jump key
</spoiler>
Flawless. Contender for top ten for sure
This did nothing to help with my lack-of-numpad data entry speed anxiety
Ooh clever. Agree that it could do with better instructions for the drive-by ludumdare rater, but once you know what's going on it's a solid game and surprisingly fun.
no numpad :(
Fun, but a little frustrating in places. i started stuck inside a rock, would like some more feedback on enemy health. Solid effort though, and I liked the sound :)
To anyone finding the game difficult: when you die you are given a summary of what moves that enemy uses. You can use this to vastly increase your chances of defeating that enemy on your next playthrough :)
Thanks for playing everyone :)
BTW it's turn based, so take your time and think. Or just mash the buttons I don't care.
Combine life sim and rhythm game? The critics said it couldn't be done, but then cwilloughby got a perfect rhythm combo and blew all of their minds
Love all of the audio effects, just not the music so much. Everything else was just really refreshing and lovely and great. More of this please :)
lovely audio, you were right about 3/9 being hard
<3
haha that scream. megapoints for audio for that
ALL SHEEP RETURNED TO THE BARN.. YEAHHHAHHHA
nice work. timer or other scoring system would be nice!
Well, that was stark and harrowing. Never been so sad to play pong in all my life
Haha, nice! Pressing the keys too soon seems to be NOT OKAY but I had lots of fun. Liked the health feedback
Would like to see a longer version of this. Also see if you can figure out a way of hosting this so we dont have to download it :) you'll get a lot more plays that way
Biased perhaps but I loved it. Cool music, cool little friend flying around my head encouraging my wrongdoing. Especially appreciated the column of particles coming off of the goal helping to orient me
The things the previous commenters are complaining about are what made the game interesting imho. Very direct interpretation of the theme. Like+
Just a quick thankyou for including a mute music button :), so easy to forgo in an LD entry
I liked the part with the squares!
full points in all categories except the ones i didnt give you full points in.
I _loved_ this. Have to admit I didn't realise it was a bunny, but that's part of the charm of simple, abstract graphics, they're many things to many people. Would play a longer version of this
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Cool stuff
Amazing work. Love the glitchy crazy halo awesomeness. Didn't have any trouble with the platforming, would have been pointless to include it if you made it any easier
Best audio LD29 award. You did a sick job with the tentacles too. Had to subtract all your stars for potato though
I'd also like to be able to hurry the dialogue along a little and the music got old pretty fast, but I loved everything else. Definitely my favourite game so far
An inspiration to the vegetable rights movement. Those farmer sprites are awesome. Good, sensible fun.
I was really hoping for a midboss cameo enemy but despite being utterly disappointed in that regard I loved everything else about this. I did find it a little difficult to distinguish between purple/cyan and red/cyan though, but maybe that's just because I'm trying to play this in direct sunlight. GG
I enjoyed the story and the tropes but mostly I liked the groanworthy puns.
Windoze port tomorrow
Interesting and original :) I haven't played anything like this before, which is always a nice change in an LD entry. Tiny shots are tiny though, especially in the flash version.
The music really made this for me. Lovely art style too
This is 110% the best Shai Hulud hat sim I have ever seen. There are not enough stars on the vote form for how much fun this is
I too had to adjust display brightness to see what was happening. Fun :)
Bravely autobiographical or just whack shit bat crazy, nobody except the author can really say.
Haha, 'but you still did good'. Such a nice game over screen. I really liked the music in this. I liked how the shots went through enemies allowing you to set up multikills, maybe a combo bonus or something would be nice for that and would help encourage careful aiming? Lots of fun
Cute game with harsh gameplay. I approve
Oh well kid. Next time be upfront, declare base code in advance and don't steal assets. Please read the rules before entering again.
Very nice, very pure gameplay. Once you've understood the water it's quite easy though :)
OSX version works great. Only confusion I had was trying to work out how to exit the shop. Nice game, liked the art style a lot
Wowzers, would love to see this developed into a full game. Definitely gets top marks from me for innovation
What a weirdly beautiful game. The most unique looking game in the compo.
I'll be honest: my first impressions were pretty negative, but about 30 seconds later I was laughing out loud. I appreciate that it's a sad topic but the story telling is so well done I could almost believe Daisy had written it herself. Nice work
Way too easy for an experienced thrustplayer, but this was so lovely and atmospheric I played it repeatedly. <3
Being about to shoot torpedoes at myself was pretty cool. Local multiplayer is always welcome here :)
Fantastic first entry. The bat sprite is cool but looks like it's clipped to a square in some frames? Nice work
Can't get the OSX version to launch. OS is insisting the executable is corrupt. Tried downloading a few times with no luck. Any suggestions?
Couldn't get the kong version of this working. Music playing, robot in middle of empty screen. I'll come back later and try again
Best story best disco
too me a little time to realise that i was looking at the piglet's *tail* when he's truffling. Charming stuff
I feel a little silly waiting out the last phase, but i guess i hadn't actually lost my hope after all.
I enjoyed the short, sharp levels. Some nice ambushes, and didn't feel like I got sent back too far when I died.
Is this FISTS or FIST of Truth? We need to know the real truth.
Great game. I give it four fake birth certificates out of five
Love the atmosphere, and I for one enjoyed the economic portion of the game
Fun game with a surprising amount of replayability. Quite a few options tactically. A pity that you used borrowed music in a compo entry though :(. Still, fun
Best take on the space trading theme that everyone seems to have used this LD. Lots of fun, played it while I flew intersystem in X3
Took me a while to work out but fun times once I did. Collecting a trail of stars is really satisfying
Got quite a bit of slowdown on my 2013 macpro retina. But I really enjoyed what there was here, could easily see this grow into a larger game I'd like to play. Music sounded like it might have been clipping a bit too
Time challenge makes this good. Great feedback, solid movement, something weird about the audio engine hewhew but really this is a quite a lot of fun.
IF YOU SAY CROWBEAK THREE TIMES WHILE PLAYING THIS GAME IN THE MIRROR THERE IS AN EARTHQUAKE AND CROWBEAK CLIMBS OUT OF THE GROUND AND MAKES YOU A CUP OF TEA
Hold on to your hat, other OS versions incoming
hey plash, all versions have that error :) not sure why but rock0.ogg fails to load the first time, so i load it twice :p
I enjoyed the fairly minimal interface, helped with the atmosphere. Some of the sounds felt a little out of place though. Would like a more difficult version, and some idea of how this relates to the theme
NEAT. This spins me around. Circle reference.
Honestly the only thing that bothered me about this was that my character looked like a squashed bean. Music was alright, graphics did the job, but the concept and execution were really original and interesting.
Nice original idea
More tactical than it first looks, spoiled a little by the sheer amount of mushrooms available. A fun game, if a little easy :)
lots of really nice polish on this, lots of cool attention to detail. impressive work
brainslugs with benefits!
Not rating yet, I don't seem to be able to do the colour thing everyone is talking about on mac. do i need a numpad or something?
Would be nice not to have to start over entirely after losing the mirror battle. Interesting idea
This is nice, it's too bad the clown image isn't original :( http://38.media.tumblr.com/06e507c703e9933695986d784a551df2/tumblr_natrhktUHM1qzknwuo1_1280.png you can't just run a filter over a photo and pretend you drew it during the compo. They might stand for that in Jam land, but we have standards sonny.
Other than that, really solid effort. One of the better LD twines for sure
Also you shouldn't really be voting on other games without anything submitted yourself.
This was right up my alley. Lots of fun, short and succinct, cool gravity fun. Thought I was stuck in Lagrange a couple of times but I slowly fell back down the well. Love it
I really like the tiles and the palette in this, very short though :(
beautiful art, great music. Interesting RPS style combat, found it a little difficult to guess which weapon should be used on each enemy but maybe im just dumb :)
Too bad there isn't a birdpoo category in the ratings. This was fun and nicely put together.
Also to answer your question, no I don't currently live in Brisbane, but I did until very recently :)
Quite liked the audio and mood in this. Reminded me a little of solar winds. Pity the quests weren't more involved, but great job for a first entry!
definitely a contender for a spot on the top ten noodle games of LD30
The music loop did get old fast, but it wasn't too annoying. Loved the hit sprite, and the level backgrounds are ART and should be in a gallery. Liked this a lot :)
nice and atmospheric, can really appreciate where you were going with this. Think you'll be able to work on it a little more in the future?
And the first place for "Unique Physics" Award LD30 goes to Space Haulers LLC
pretty hard to play when the window doesnt fit on the screen properly because you wont let me scroll :(
but a little fiddling and i got it working. Entertaining, if a little brief. Great characters
What a harrowing tale. The protagonist systematically depopulates entire worlds in his quest to retrieve his feline friend. Examples (with spoilers): exploit Ratking's cocoa allergy by giving him a bar of chocolate causes him to instantly vanish into the afterlife, or gun down PoV with a laser pistol.
Despite the horrific subject matter, the game has some really nice environment art, terrible puns and even includes robots, forcing me to rate highly.
Also Benn's falling sprite is the best image of LD30.
I liked the part with the guy
This is certainly the most approachable Write Your Own Killer Robot game I've played. I like that you didn't over simplify to the point of stupidity, but I can see it being possibly too complex for non programmers. Nice work, would deathbot again
brilliant idea, well executed and communicated. I appreciate the minimal gui and the art style is simple and handsome like all my favourite game developers. I also appreciate you not letting the guards revert to their less alert state after losing sight of you, that's something that always bothers me in stealth games. 11/10 would steal little yellow rectangle crown again
Short and sweet, beautiful and a little clever. Sounds like the ideal life partner. Do you also do 48 hour human-making jams?
Needs moar screenshake. Solid effort, love the sprites especially the gawping stabby dudes. Relentless pacing, perfect jamgame.
had trouble aiming, but this is a nice dose of hectic action :)
Nice. The magnifying glass works pretty well and i flipped that jeep like a pro. I'd like to see you belly dance to this music for me next time
Beautiful game, seriously impaired by the physics. I'm frequently being flung, launched, and otherwise bumped into the wrong place, especially during hops. Can I suggest adding a little height during the hop, not so high as to miss colliding with the pickups, but high enough to avoid skimming the top of the lovely fluffy bouncy blocks? Of course, if this is just part of the challenge and I'm bad at your game, I apologise.
I won't lie. I spent a long time playing this, pushing people around and wondering who has a house with so many bathtubs. I also appreciated the highly accurate representation of Wonkyth: him being the only resident to not have been working on a game. GG would play again
Excellent, original, groundbreaking, breathtaking. That is a list of words.
Some of them apply to this fine game.
Gentle pacing, plentiful checkpoints help to overcome the frustration lesser pilots will no doubt experience. I'd prefer just a single health point to encourage not just bumping into spikes willy-nilly.
Also: you can do some fun things if you never let go of the rotate button.
Sterling effort, top marks.
Just a reminder that there's a link to the 'cheaters map' up above that helps direct you at key intersections.
I'm glad you kept the visuals fairly simple here. I think it works really well and although the targets *are* tiny, they're not that hard to click on and it adds an element of challenge. Music was cool, and I'm glad you took the time to include a little intro to set the scene, made all the difference in mood. Nice work, send my condolences to the families of all the civs I accidentally splatted
Definitely my favourite arrow dropping simulator of LD31. Music loop was a bit annoying but the gameplay was great :D
Yeah! Go Jackets!
I really liked the aesthetic here. It's the best kind of madness. Low res backgrounds, enemies that looked like pickups (it was difficult to convince myself not to grab the lollypops), great music for each channel, loved all of it.
I'd like to see some kind of transition between channels. Maybe a flicker of static for a couple of frames? But otherwise I really can't fault this for what it is: a simple, fun sidescrolling shmup.
I congratulate you on your perfectly reasonable and not in any way insane game, good sir. Some have suggested I ought to alert the authorities and have you put into a safe place with soft, padded walls for your own protection, but I think I'm willing to risk you walking around naked singing about moon people if it means you make more games like this. Great stuff, I really loved this <3
This is a solid, polished remake of joust. The portal is an interesting addition. Lovely presentation, audio was a little .. challenging in places, but the music was fantastic. Would have liked some ingame music too.
Also your title screen is immense. Amazing, Awesome. I love it. There should be a ludumdare category purely for title screens
This is a delightful and really quite simple game if you understand what is happening. Can I suggest you put your instructions on the itch.io page too? Or even in-game.
Nice selection of sounds really makes this work. Though I imagine it'd be essentially impossible for the colour-blind to play.
If there is a difficulty slope I didn't detect it, perhaps the tempo could increase over time?
Definitely a unique and innovative entry. Well done
There's a bug: the intro song should *not* be skippable. Scrambling was a touch of evil genius. Sir I salute you and your passable singing voice.
jojocanard, read the description above: "The game is not broken. It is behaving EXACTLY as intended. Have fun"
Lighting the populated tracks is a really nice touch! Music is pretty nice too :)
Great audio here, I realise you've collected the sounds from elsewhere but you still used them effectively. Honestly for me they made the game. Interesting, original, minimalistic. I liked it :)
This is excellent. Rate some more games so more people see this! Level design could be tweaked a little with the final room to help make the extra mechanic more obvious, but maybe it shouldn't be too obvious? Also I accidentally my healthbar <3
I will not lie, I was sad that I could not play the Rubiks Cube.
This was great. I escaped track one and was hoping to find my house and drive in through the wall, but unfortunately was unable to locate my abode.
Excellent, original entry. Audio was a bit of a mixed bag, but graphics were fun and the interview was great. The end rhythm game was a bit weird, but that can only be good really, right? Memorable game!
Excellent effort, dang boy this ferrari drives like the real thing. Didn't finish the whole thing but you've managed to squeeze a lot of game into just one little screen. Great work
Yay another maze game. I was frustrated by the stickiness of the walls, but I guess driving my .. mining vehicle? through narrow tunnels shouldn't be too easy. I liked what I could make out of the audio but it was hard to hear it over the engine noise. But this was a nicely atmospheric game :)
This was surprisingly good! Nicely balanced, though maybe just a little on the easy side. I had a real sense of panic when my walls went down and I realised I actually needed to think a little about what I was doing. My only suggestion would be to make reloading at the ammo box take a few seconds, or make movement of troops much slower. Though perhaps this would just result in sitting your troops on the ammo box. Anyway, great work, I can see a lot of thought went into the balance and wave design.
I really like this style of game, and the digging for the crown was an original take. Nice work, I had fun!
Excellent presentation. Some in-game audio would have been nice, but you can't have everything in a jam game, right? Quite chaotic, and I really liked the in-room representation of problems on the screens etc.
YEAH GO STRAIGHT TO JAIL DO NOT PASS GO i won go me.
Man that wizard is a serious jerk. I almost finished building a giant middle finger to let him know how I felt, but you can probably guess what happened next. I liked this a lot, but didn't really feel the music was a good match. Far too much sad and not enough angry.
Didn't rate: i couldn't see anything beyond the room with the computer, but was able to pick up a fire extinguisher (even though i was offscreen). Probably a resolution bug? I'm using OS/X with a retina screen, so sometimes this happens. I'll come back towards the end of voting to see if there's a fixed version to rate :). Beautiful art style btw
as someone that's 'going' I appreciate this message. I apologise on behalf of the people that voted without considering what you've written. I salute you
Wow, great polish on a simple idea. Nice map, nice camera movement, lots of cool little features. A bit buggy in places but hey this is Ludum Dare. Lovely loading screen too :)
hah, nicely original idea, never played anything like it
Ahhhhhh too cute. I got really worked up expecting some kind of evil shocker ending and was so relieved when everything ended nicely. I love this more than I love dinosaurs and cookies <3
6 out of 5 stars
haa this is so detailed. The little elf flecks sticking out of the snowball <3
After laughing as I swatted the first enemy with my hand, I quickly got pretty stressed out by the evil swarm of munching heads chasing me through the forest. If I have a nightmare about this tonight I'll be sad :(
Nice atmosphere, pretty difficult to find the other buttons though. Also I liked the cinematic introduction. Nice camera tweening there
This is the first game I've played this LD that actually required thinking, a brave and novel choice there sir.
This is exceptionally well presented. It looks, sounds and even tastes great. A pity you didn't get to finish it as it has the mood and makings of happy fun space times
I liked the controls in particular, they were probably half the challenge, without being stupid. Very nice star, lovely crackling sound
Butt hill or bewbs hill? I can't decide, but I can decide that these clay pigeons sound like 1960s b-movie alien invaders. Sad that you opted out of voting, I would have given you stars for fun and cool graphics :(
being able to throw the house bricks was a really fun touch. I thought this was a really fun idea, but a bit easy, even single player. I didn't really need to even attack the .. spinning fire brick demon things
This is my favourite game. I actually returned to it to play some more
ahh i played it again
haha whoah, best authentic kiwi simulator 2014 grand prize :D
Hah! Excellent IK game. Cutscenes are fantastic, ragdolls are hilarious and sound effects are a little bit intimidating. Such polish! At first I was annoyed when my sidekick was defeated by the back leg of baldie's low kick in the opposite direction, but I am just a grasshopper and soon learnt the error of my ways.
Great music too, this game is the real deal. 999 ludumpoints to you. I'm holding back one point because there's no backflip included.
Interesting idea. I don't think anyone really comparing this to RPS actually understood what was going on. This is possibly even more simple than RPS, but has such a compelling, polished look that it's definitely worth spending a little time with.
Personally I'd like to see the game more a little more towards RPS by having a consequence for shooting someone's shields, like perhaps losing a portion of your stored energy. Otherwise there's no real incentive to use your shield, you're better off charging and blasting. It might also be nice to desynchronise the bobbing of the ships. Perhaps you've already made lots of improvements though, I haven't looked at the post compo version yet :).
Haha this is the most realistic football game I've ever played. At least, it's the one that most accurately models the level of football I play. Music didn't feel very appropriate, but loved everything else. The AI defenders were even helpful, which is no small achievement in this type of game. Okay one of them scored an own goal after I typed that, but I stand by my first statement about this being an accurate representation of bad football players. Great work
Great work! Poops were an inspired touch. Fun graphics and solid gameplay, hitboxes weren't very forgiving (perhaps it's the perspective?)
Also web version worked fine for me in chrome
sexy pixel times nice fun happy shield sim good work hot job top dog
Incredible. I've only rated a few games but this is already winner of LD33. We need more mature games, and more that show the true nature of our feline 'friends' have eleventy thousand stars
Very nice. However I should point out that submitting this game has put you on a watchlist
Amazing feat to get this done in 48 hours. I have a soft spot for entries that target uncommon systems and this blew a gory low-poly hole right in it and flew on through.
of all the games I've played today (one) this is definitely the best. I liked the part where the monsters ate the food
this is the most accurate monster in closet simulator i have ever played. Charming art, lovely game
Made it through to the end. The game is not difficult if you show a tiny bit of patience. Theme felt a little forced but the presentation is very nice with appropriate music.
I can't help but feel there is some deep, important metaphor here about the importance of tripping tall people over before they bomp your noggin and steal your money. Simple and solid, fun tunes and original idea. Eleventy hundred stars
Ugh so satisfying to swing those arms around (and into eachother). I'd have liked the ability to do extra damage on powerful strikes
Blah blah blah at all these 'not a game' comments. I loved this. It is 100% a game. It is more captivating, fun and involving that 99.99% of other games. I think I had an emotion somewhere in there.
There were a few moments where I felt things were dragging a little and could have been improved with additional text, but it was always worth the wait. Fantastic entry, ignore the inevitable '2deep4me' comments
Definitely the best evolution simulator I have played this evening. I feel you cheated a little by using actual photographs of the dinosaurs, but otherwise a great educational entry with predictably excellent audio.
Very good. I felt like Jake from Adventure time as I played through. Short and sweet, only the right to left lavablocks slowed me down. I'd play a longer version

A distinct lack of work simulation in this game. I had problems with the map list, and the tutorial didn't tell me about colour switching after it maybe should have. But despite that it was a fun little platformer which didnt make me or my child vomit, which is always a plus. Have eleventy thousand stars
https://youtu.be/TuuwUHv3iSY baby and I played this and there was hardly any screaming. GG
https://youtu.be/p0SQGcMVxTo your game made me emotional. Lets all have a hug
GOTY 2016
LP vid https://youtu.be/p0pg_dPocRY
Glorious. Kid and I liked this one a lot, despite a minimal comprehension of what was happening. Chaos. Tried to do a LP but obs didnt like the java window and cropped it funny https://youtu.be/TYUmb7a40W4
I was lucky enough to play this with the creator(s) and it was a blast. Literally I wanted to blast the both of them off the face of the planet. It's a pity most people won't take the time to give this a go because it's a solid bluff game and a great way to learn about how good a liar your new friends are.
I tried to kill every cat, but one hid in a hole. 0/10 would not be outsmarted by cats again.
Enjoyed the music and art. The game felt late 1980s to me, maybe a cheap Commodore Amiga game or PC-88 (though the scrolling is probably a bit too good for PC-88). Nice work!
niiiice! I suck at this game, but i like the 8bit feel here. I'd like it even better if i only had four or five arrows total and had to pick them up before i could reuse them. Also i got to level 5 before i even realised i could roll, which was a cool and unexpected feature. overall i really liked this and would slay flowers and spiders again, gg
Pretty nice. Obviously this is normal in a metroidvania but I like the progression of the abilities. Especially the dash powers. Actually the dashes were my favourite part, just zooming around out of control. Maybe get rid of everything else in the game and just have it be out of control dashing. Dash GOTY
no luck getting this to run on linux firefox 53.0.2(x64). just a black screen until i gave up waiting after a few minutes
bold, brief, beautiful. enjoyed this thoroughly
BURN THE KITTEHS. I'm just going to come out and say that a three digit score field is not going to be sufficient to contain my feline hatred.
Lovely music and cute sprites. Much appreciate the autofire too.
cool game, i like that you took time to make a parallax starfield. Fading between the two music tracks when using spells was a nice touch of polish. Veeeery nice :)
Very nice. Took me a while to work out how to get into space but I made it eventually ;)
I'd bump that pumpking all night long
Very cool! Quite a lot of nuance without being too complex. Honestly the ability to defend by being able to shoot down incoming shots really takes this from 'fun spammy gravity artillery game' to 'tricky tactical skill game'. Great work
Amazing execution of a solid simple idea, the best kind of jam game. I especially liked defending against the rapid fire patterns, would have been nice to get some kind of bonus for deflecting an entire wave like that. Nice humour too :)
The puzzles are good, the sounds are fun and the music isnt awful.
But the visual style is wonderful! Six stars! I felt like i was playing a 90s game with prerendered sprites, which I suppose might have been intentional on your part - i think maybe you might have a slight interest in games from this era?
Great visuals, fun turret defence, but player gun felt completely useless against the enemy.
cute and tough, my favourite combination
Lovely simple idea + great presentation = great jam game. Music wasn't super amazing but was fun. Sound effects were a good fit for the style and the flying cogs of death weren't too annoying (even after my fifth death). Shots continuing when offscreen made things a little easier than was probably intended, and on the last level you can go through the exit without blasting all targets. I enjoyed this a lot, I wish more jam games were this lighthearted.
But i have to tell you that starbucks sucks. All points deducted :o (not really)
very cool, very surprising. unexpectedly difficult for a puzzle platformer newb like myself, but i made it and claimed my throne. great atmosphere, fun mechanics. as cute as it is tough
Fantastic! Finally a clicker game with a time limit, a guaranteed end instead of infinite upgrades. Great humour, fun mechanics, lovely presentation
Charming presentation, great visuals and solid audio. Travel the universe beating up doggos with your trusty stick! Not immediately obvious that you can get different goals if you play again unless you've read the full description here. Some mission objectives were considerably more interesting than others. Great entry!
Haha, really nice take on the theme. Interesting way to progress through the level too. Some animation would have been nice but the graphics are cute as they are :)
Solid concept, lots of cool assets, but I feel it could all mesh a bit better. I'd like getting hit to be more impactful. Great style and thematic presentation. Hopefully I can find someone to play it against sometime
Very interesting! I won, so it must be a good game. Things are a little glitchy from here in Australia and I wasn't entirely sure what was happening with the traps, but this is an impressive achievement for 48 hours. Also from now on please address me as King Voxel
Thanks @ptsnoop but it's not a bug with the game logic, it's a bug with me not communicating clearly that you need to be landed on the pad to end the level :)
I got a hat
This is amazing. I've seen two endings so far but haven't worked out how to get more v-numbers (if thats actually possible), but this is probably the best LD game I've ever played. Amazing work
Great entry, I really like games that punish mistakes, and I made oh so many mistakes in this game until I worked out a fairly solid strategy to 'win'. Audio is okay, graphics are fun, gameplay is great. *applauds*
This game is filled with offensive stereotypes, but you get to kill them, so maybe that's a good thing? Fun gameplay, neat premise, obviously some audio would have been great :).
I'm not very familiar with undertale so I lose most of that context, but this was a fun take on the theme that got a lot easier once I realised I could fight back :)
I inserted baguette and would insert again. Best France simulator of the year
Great use of the theme, nice simple gameplay paired with a great difficulty curve. NOW GET IN YOUR BASKET
Fun little miner, really appreciated having a jetpack. All games should have jetpacks. ALL GAMES. Good work, I made 700 bucks which might just about cover my jetpack fuel expenses
I really like the flight model / physics here and feel it would make for a really interesting game if developed further. Is the exchange staffed by Ferenghi? The exchange rate was so bad! Nice concept, good execution, music was a little annoying after a few loops but not enough to really detract from the experience. What a wonderful first entry.
I like the art, game runs fine here and I didn't notice any bugs. Good for a jam game and great for just a few hours
wow, impressive work, especially considering you haven't finished exapunks yet. As a game, I thought the difficulty ramped up a little too slowly. Cracking tunes too, nice job
I can't run java games at the moment :( but I just wanted to drop in and say hi!
very juicy, great presentation
I finished all 10 levels and was devastated that the knight wasn't revealed to be Zarguuf.
Great entry with lots of good humour. A bit slow at times, I found myself waiting with not much to do at certain points, but I still had a great time shuffling turds and anchors. A really good take on the theme
The presentation is very nice, I especially like the character portraits. I had to play without audio so I've not voted there, but I had a nice time regardless and think this is a good candidate for post-jam improvements
I really like this application of the theme. I found the game a bit too dark to play on a screen during the day, it's always hard to find a darkness level that works for everyone. I had fun playing this :)
I don't know why everyone is complaining about the graphics being unoriginal, i've certainly never seen any sprites like these before. Excellent gore and screenshake, would massacre hundreds of innocent little waddling guys again
While presented as an irreverant lo-fi mashup game/editor, PLATYPAD is clearly the artist's critique on the dichotomy of entertainment and productivity software. Can a game be used to be productive, and can you enjoy using productivity software? While the game does not directly answer the question, it prompts the user to consider such issues through suggestive imagery, challenging gameplay and forcing the player to define their own goals. Truly this is art
MADNESS. 80% certain i was playing the game wrong until I read your description and realised I was playing it right. Thoroughly enjoyed this, especially appreciated not dying instantly to hits. But please excuse me now, I think I need to lay down until I stop hearing those voices
This might be a contender for the two most incompatible genres combined. I don't even think I managed to hit the other cat once! Loved the mean ol kitty combatant sprites
I really dig the aesthetic here. This is the most unusual entry I've played, but it wasn't confusingly weird. I don't understand the other commenters not realising you were combining genres with Shiojiri's jumping etc. Solid effort
