Disregard All Humans by Fireblend 2012-04-27T22:02:00
Really had fun with this game. I like how the earth shrinks when you kill the humans while the moon turns to bloody red :D Great graphics as well.

Hello
Wow thanks a lot for the nice comments :)
I've just publish a post-mortem of the game :
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2012/04/23/tinysasters-post-mortem/
Thank you everyone for the nice comments ! I'm very happy so many of you enjoyed the game :D
@mildmojo : No, Tinysasters wasn't inspired by Taluva. To be honest, that's the first time I hear about this game ! The idea behind Tinysasters was to make something between the boardgames Settlers of Catan and Labyrinth.
Wow, snow globes were such a perfect idea for this theme ! The graphics and colors are absolutely great. My only complaint is that sometimes it's hard to distinguish between the tiles and know when they're gonna fall, but I can imagine how counters would have damaged the atmosphere.
Such a poetic game, my favorite entry on many points !
Sometimes I was so happy when I found myself :) Really great job !
I really enjoyed this entry. I usually get stuck in this kind of games but I thought this one was well balanced even though I played the first version. I'm so sad the little guy didn't get a happier ending, I thought he deserved it :) Great job anyways !
I had fun playing this game :) I would love to see it improved !
Very cute graphics, great choice of colors !
So fun :D Great art too !
Great imitation of the GameBoy style !
Very creative !
I couldn't figure out how to play but the atmosphere is nice :)
Very cute game !
It was a bit laggy on my computer and the controls screen took forever to disappear, but it looks great and I would have loved to be able to play it :)
Nice work, I had fun playing it for a while :)
I got stuck on the first level with the bunny disease. It is way too hard compared to the monsters from before. Each time it happened, it affected about half a dozen bunnies in a second. Hard to come back from that. And it's quite tricky to kill only the infected bunnies as they often overlap with the other.
Also at first, I kept clicking on the icons to launch the upgrades and of course, it fired the lazer and killed my bunnies :)
Really nice take on the theme !
It was quite fun and unexpected to be able to bounce off zombies.
Very good atmosphere, nice and relaxing music. I enjoyed the gameplay, it reminded me of Ecco the Dolphin.
It is sometimes frustrating that you can't go to the next area although there isn't anything blocking the way. Also, I would have loved to be able to evolve past level 3, with a different skin :)
Really nice game, nice music, graphics, and great mood !
That little fox is really sweet. Sometimes you wonder how those dogs get stuck on these platforms :)
What a nice surprise when you do that final jump on level 2 and the fox suddenly grows wings and starts to fly !
That's just a very tiny detail, but I would find it a lot more comfortable if you could control the character with with the arrow keys instead of A & D. It was a little tiring for the hand.
Great job !
This was fun ! I loved watching the minions attack. Great music as well.
Very nice job on the catchy graphics !
Had fun playing it !
My only complaint is that sometimes the platforms don't stand out enough from the background (color too similar) and it's hard to spot them.
Thanks for the comments :)
@ Porpentine : The idea is to remove the effects of the encounters before you face them. The characters can use their "Cancel" spells if they have a strength superior or equal to the strength of the encounter. Select a "Cancel" spell, then click on the button on the left of the effect you want to remove.
@ MaximSchoemaker : Sorry, the web hosting was down earlier :/ The issue seems to be resolved now.
@ Cosmologicon : I agree, a tutorial would be great ! The game is way too complex to be picked up easily without one and I'm very surprised and happy so many people gave the game a chance anyway !
Thanks all for the nice comments :)
Wow, lots of nice comments again. Thank you all :)
@ Pierrec : Thanks for pointing out the balancing issues. I knew the game wasn't well balanced, but not in that sense. Losing the game very frequently, I was very far from imagining that it could be too easy !!
I like it ! A little hard (I had trouble not being hit by the enemies) It's very dynamic and I like the phone sequences<
Great game ! I like now you can not be the villain if you want even if the dialogs (and the induced curiosity to know what happens if...) strongly encourage it.
This one made me laugh ! "Give me media" !
I like that you can counter a cannonball with a cannonball.
Great game ! Amazing graphics and animation. I love the design of the character and how his eyes glow in the dark.
The only thing that bothered me is that the structures falling on the background are too dark and made the position of the platforms hard to read. It made me lose focus on several occasions.
Very fun ! great plotline !
Very original concept !
Very fun ! Great graphics. Those little humans are very hard to crush.
It was very laggy on my computer so I couldn't play, but playing a storm is such a nice idea for the theme !
Very entertaining, I like it !
Great entry, great mood.
Good graphics ! Linking business and violence in such a simple way is a fun idea.
Great take on the theme !
Nice concept !
Like the others, I had trouble figuring what to do. But once you get it it is fun to watch your lair come to life ! Maybe you could add some instructions in the web page to tell the players what to do ? One thing I didn't understand is what triggers the adventurers entering the lair.
There are a lot of fun things in this game ! I like how the drug people rush to protect the old lady, how you can talk to people 2s after having shot them with your pistol, how you have to hurt people enough to rob them but not enough to kill them because you couldn't rob them later, how the dog protects people so bravely (At first I thought it was a goat), how everybody runs faster than you, etc.
Some suggestions for improvements
- I think the game could be more dynamic if the character moved a little faster.
- The minimap could be bigger (I didn't notice it at first) with icons for the different buildings. Also when you look at the minimap it seems that the roads are wall, so I was always trying to avoid them when I walked with the minimap as only guide.
- It could be more obvious when you have "talk" selected and when you have "attack" selected. Maybe put the icons in a box with a reminder of the shortcut.
- It's a little frustrating to discover that there are missions when you already have killed the targets :)
Great game ! A lot of content in 48 hours !
That was fun ! Very well done :)
Lovely !
Yes it can be done ! I've just added a walkthrough :)
Thanks for the bug report :)
Thank you all for the nice comments ! I'm very happy so many people liked the game :)
Thank you for your comment :) The end was not rushed as I had plenty of time to finish. It was intended to be like this, I wanted it to feel very abstract, as the main character finds himself in a totally unknown situation where he has lost his bearings.
@ millie : I did a special version for Kongregate with the API. But it didn't take very long, it's only a few lines of code.
Thanks for your comments :)
About the walkthrough, it seemed necessary. How to progress in the story may seem obvious, but I assure you it is not for everyone. For instance, some players didn't realise that they could jump on the red squares and they left the game angry.
I prefer that players go through the game even if they use the walkthrough rather than leave frustrated.
As a player, it's not because a game gives me a walkthrough that I look at it. I only look at it when I would have left the game otherwise.
@twbnc : You need to click on the game to set the focus before you hit "X"
Great entry ! Very cool graphics, mood and music.
You used to form a word together... and now they're your enemies !! Very cool entry :)
Great mood ! Amazing job on the music.
Very cool ! Those circles are evil.
Beautiful art and nice concept :)
Very cool idea !
Very cool and innovative ! It also fits the theme perfectly.
Very nice pixel art ! Some interactions with the objects are funny :)
Very disturbing, great job !
It should work now.
Sorry, I was so tired I forgot to publish the blog page where the game was. As I was logged in the blog system, it was working for me.
The page is published now, sorry again.
Did you try to move with the arrow keys ?
Thanks for the nice comments :)
@ gbear605 : Did you unlock other places than the Clouds ?
Thanks for the nice comments !
@AdventureIslands, jackdw31 : The ending wasn't more rushed than the rest of the story in the writing. But if I had more time, I would have put a little animation at the end where the ghosts disappear. It would have been less brutal that way.
@darkshadow : I deliberately not explained everything, I wanted to leave some things to the interpretation of the player, but it was probably a bad decision.
* Spoilers * What Alice has to do with the accident is that she helps to prevent it by knowing her way around the place and being willing to help others.
Awesome graphics and great execution. I liked it !
That's very fun :)
Great idea, great game !
Very cool !
Cool concept, kept me playing for a while
Wow, amazing art !
Very cool !
My keyboard suffered a lot :) Cool game, love the graphics !
Very original concept !
Great entry, fantastic artwork
Very cool and impressive level of polish. Bravo !
Super fun !
Very cool idea ! It perfectly respects the theme while giving a longer gameplay. Bravo :)
Nice puzzle game. I like the music, very engaging !
Had fun playing it :)
Very clever idea, and the music is great !
Fantastic idea !
Very cool idea and great implementation
Great gameplay and music, I like it !
It's beautiful
Great mood !
Great idea ! Perfectly fits the theme.
This was a fun experience
Nice idea and graphics
Great take on the theme, very well thought
Very well done
But what are they doing in the water in the first place ?
Fun idea :)
Great mood
Very creative
Awesome pixel-art !
Great concept !
thank you :)
Thanks for the comments :)
The sounds are a bit of a disappointment for me too ! I spent a lot of time on a procedural generation of the music as I wanted to have the tempo of the music and the speed of the game evolving together, but it didn't work out, I don't know if it was me or just flash player not being able to play the sounds with enough precision, so I had to make something else quickly.
The lack of feedback on mistakes is intentional :) This is intended as a metaphor on life, you're not supposed to know when things are coming (death especially)
Thanks for the comments ! I coded a wrong hit penalty initially, but I decided to remove it, as it felt too harsh, and I assumed that not many people would try to spam the keys. I have to say I'm not the best kind of player for this type of game and I can't go on forever. :)
The more you get wrong, the more the background changes. The constellations represent various stages of life, and eventually the boat sinks. But maybe you only tried the practice mode.
Thanks for the comments :)
I made them coffee and they spared my life ! Nice take on the theme, about the cruelty of those situations where it's so important to make a good first impression on people that don't care about you and only have a tenth of their attention to give you.
I thought when I lost the first time that the presenter was going to shoot me with what I thought was a shotgun. Would have been even darker hahaha. (I realised later that he was just holding a mic)
Cool idea, a great take on the theme !
Vive le camembert Paris de la France contre les evil souris nazies !
Lots of fun in this game, the better part being running for your life after the bullet decides to come back at you :)
Cool art style !
I enjoyed walking around. Mood and character design are super cool !
Wow, I loved the visuals and mood, you really did something here ! Took me a while to figure out how to kill the enemies, and then I was so stressed, I fled (and died) when I saw one even though the sword was mid position ! And the death screen is so intense it made me smile :)
Nice entry, very dark and unsettling...
The game was very fun ! I played with my boyfriend and we laughed a lot while playing it. Such a good idea to put a knife up there for more brutal endings.
Nice to see the Nesblog here, I hope you participate again :)
Very fun and touching ! Great use of the theme.
A game with a message ! I would have called it "We only get one Earth" to make sure people really get the point.
I think that's the best use of the theme there could be, so 5 !
It's comforting to know you can always rely on drunken soldiers, heart throwing skills, wealthy spiders and cucumber strength.
Very nice entry, tons of fun ! Bravo :)
Wow, scary! The graphics and the mood are just perfect.
Sorry, I forgot to put http:// in the link and it didn't work. You should have access to the game now.
Thanks for the comments :)
@TomBoogaart there are water bubbles at several places under the sea.
*I meant oxygen pockets :)
Thanks for the comments :)
I've added an hint on how to find the keys.
Thanks for the nice comments :)
@Seraphic Media: it's "Morbert" with an r between the o and the b.
Thanks for the comments!
@hd_ It's normal, that's what the "Think better" upgrade does :)
Thanks for the comments!
About the ending, the way I see it:
----/!\ Spoilers /!\----
The key to understanding what's happening is given by what's written on the TV.
The person's in a coma. On the TV are broadcasts some words that are spoken in the room the person's in and leave a mark in their subconscious. The game is the person's path to waking up (stop being imprisonned in their brain).
------------------------
Great take on the theme! And I loved the music :)
