LD26 — Minimalism

Undercolor Agents by farmergnome 2013-05-01T04:40:00

Absolutely INCREDIBLE presentation. Very fun to play and looks gorgeous. Unfortunately, the music is rather lacking (though I do look forward to playing the post-production version). Seriously, I'm very impressed by this. Incredible entry!

Persist by AdventureIslands 2013-05-01T01:53:00

Impressive work for a non-jam entry! The graphics look gorgeous, and the game plays rather well. The level design is pretty difficult, but gives a fair challenge, teaching most of the game mechanics through level design. Unfortunately, the audio was rather hard to listen to, both the SFX and music using harsh instrument choices that pierced through my ears in a negative way. I did love the mood the game gave though, using dark colors that blended well together, it reminded me of Kirby's Adventure in a sense. Overall, I enjoyed this entry, and again, is amazing for the work of a single person in 48 hours.

The Lamp by Catman 2013-05-01T03:12:00

Very enjoyable, I got some thrills playing this one, and reminded me of my childhood days playing "Ghost in the Graveyard", running to safe spots before people tagged me in the dark. This entry had a very nice mood, and the music helped bring the mood home. The SFX kinda detracted from that mood, though, and the graphics, while simplistic, did the job just right. Nice job!

soundscape by Ragzouken 2013-05-01T02:08:00

Very creative idea, and tons of fun for a while! Unfortunately, the frequency changing made the audio very unenjoyable to listen to, though to be fair, there wasn't really a way around that. Graphics were minimal but clear, though!

Shoodir by ryebread761 2013-05-01T02:33:00

This most definitely fit the "minimalism" theme, however, it also caused its downfall, because I genuinely felt it was too simple to be enjoyable. Many of the enemies flew in the same predictable patterns with very strange graphics (almost reminds me of Action52 in a sense, no offense), and the audio would've been better left mute than two ticks playing over and over again. Sorry, but this wasn't very fun, nor was it very innovative.

Absolutely gorgeous looking game. I love the simplicity of the concept, yet complexity of the gameplay. It was pretty difficult for me, but I enjoyed it regardless. I wasn't a fan of the audio, but I think it sufficed regardless. Great entry!

C [DOT][DOT][DOT] by GamingYourWay 2013-05-01T03:18:00

Was the game supposed to move like an MSX shmuppy? I got the strange impression that it was intended to scroll in the choppy fashion I experienced. I did notice some lag too, but I suppose that's what I get for running this on cheap hardware. The graphics were appealing, save for the choppy scrolling, and the audio worked fine. The simplicity of the game mechanics was pretty cool too. Overall, this was a fun entry. Nice job!

MATAR! by Teejay5 2013-05-01T04:20:00

Interesting concept, though a bit too simplistic for me. Also, the game hanged after I decapitated the protagonist 3 levels into the game. It was amusing for the time I played, but the music was very chaotic.

Mondritron: 2026 by Dotanukii 2013-05-01T04:33:00

Nice game. The concept was creative, and the game was very active. I had fun with this one, and it had a nice atmosphere+music.

Boxley by blackcode 2013-05-01T03:29:00

I like the graphics and the little beat that this game has. Unfortunately, the level design really ruined what could have been a pretty cool game. Most of the time I found myself mindlessly jumping through levels, with little to no variation. Nearly all of the coins placed throughout the level forced you to walk to dead ends just to collect them, and the rest of them were in the way of the path-nearly impossible to avoid. While it's nice to give the player a sense of direction, I think the coins were a bit overkill, and most of the time I feel like the game wasn't really "challenging" me to play it, you know? I hate to be blunt about it, but that's my honest opinion, and I hope you consider this for your future games.

Sunset Death by DrGeraud 2013-05-01T02:05:00

The graphics were gorgeous, and the game had a simple and dark mood to it, and the ambient atmosphere helped that. Unfortunately, the game got very boring very quickly, and it didn't take me very long to stop playing, let alone asking a friend to play it with me. Sorry!

Minima by Andy West 2013-05-01T04:04:00

I enjoyed the game, it was fun, had great music (not a fan of the SFX, but they weren't too obtrusive), and the BG colors didn't clash with the FG colors, which was good, because that made it easy to spot the ships. I do wish the entry was a bit more creative though, because this entry is unfortunately a bit plain...

Embers by DramaticRarity 2013-05-01T03:04:00

I really wanted to enjoy this game, but it was difficult to because of how buggy it was. The death transition warping was kinda wonky, and took me about 2 deaths to realize I was actually being warped back to the beginning because I died. Everything kills you in one hit, and I believe my shots kept acting like they were stuck in the wall after falling down the right side of the first waterfall gap. The graphics looked pleasing in a sense, but the rendering made them look kinda JPEG-ish, which is the last thing you want when using pixel art graphics. The music was pleasing to listen to, but it didn't play until I refreshed the page for some reason. Overall, this has potential, but has quite a bit of work to go for if you intend on polishing this.

Radius minigolf by NicoSaraintaris 2013-05-01T02:53:00

Fun game to play, it took me a while to get the controls down (except I didn't really, it was still pretty difficult to control). On my first playthrough, I got 3 holes. The concept is very cool, and was very fun to play, but the game was difficult because of the concept, so it was more or less a double-edged sword...

Justice by nintendoeats 2013-05-01T02:44:00

Gorgeous entry, not in graphics or audio, but rather in innovation of the theme, as well as the mood. I had to dock off some points due to the slow paced nature of the text, and this is coming from a frequent visual novel reader. The situation definitely proved as tense, though some of the writing could have gone better-of course, I suppose, this is forgivable, given that this is a 48 hour solo entry. Definitely consider polishing this post-compo, because I'd love to play this in a polished form!

The Game Without Controls by methamphetabear 2013-05-01T02:21:00

Absolutely hilarious game mechanic, very innovative and followed the theme. Unfortunately, the game was not fun to play, difficult to control, and had little to no audio. Nice job with the graphics and mood, though!

The epicly short adventure by JaJ 2013-05-01T02:25:00

Great game, fun to play and was hilarious. Graphics weren't very appealing and neither was the sound, but seriously, major props for making an entire metroidvania in 48 hours! I'm definitely impressed, and the ending was shockingly depressing...

Cottonhead by Patacorow 2013-05-01T04:15:00

Absolutely adorkable, I love the atmosphere this entry has, and the dialogue is quite humorous. The song is ridiculously catchy (I don't even care if it's fakebit, that's an awesome composition asdlkgjdflkgh)

The theme definitely worked for simplicity, and I loved the direction you went with it. Amazing job with this Jam entry, this is getting a high score from me. Hope you consider polishing it up post-compo!

Minimalist MAYHEM by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2013-05-01T02:11:00

VERY impressive work for a solo, 48-hour project. Definitely fun, and had excellent music (as usual). Unfortunately, the graphics did feel a tad lacking in terms of detail, and the game didn't really have much "minimalism" going on besides the story. Regardless, I'm impressed by this entry. Nice job!
