This is a really cool idea! The physics is a little jittery and getting around can be quite annoying - what would be really useful is editing concurrent with moving, so I can create platforms to jump up easily. It's nice to explore the world that people have created :) The tiles are nice looking, and the music feels good too.
The first level seems too long - without any indication of how far I was, I wasn't trying to conserve my ammo and ended up dead in the water :( The music was nice, and the game was fun - just too drawn out.
Very slow at the start, but quite good after a couple of evolutions. A bit annoying to lose all your progress from a single hit though :(
The graphics are pretty :)
Is there a goal to complete within the game?
Fun, pretty - It would have been nice if you could have had the map always spawning a mix of the creatures, so it doesn't seem like everyone is evolving exactly as you do, but rather that you are rising up :)
I really liked this! I got stuck because I couldn't pull of wall jumping and dashing in sequence very well - the keys aren't position great for that :( Found it a little annoying having to manually grab the chains.
A bit annoying to get to the first evolve screen and not have enough points to get anything at all :(
Melee seems like the best way to deal with all the enemies except the planes - so I went for pure speed upgrades until late. The damage upgrades for the gun don't seem to do enough.
I like that you can shove enemies out of the way :D
Interesting idea, but the camera location is an odd choice - you are behind the avatar, but he is always on the horizon, so you can't actually see anything in front of him. I would suggest moving the camera to look over his head or shoulder or something, or have him face the other way.
I enjoyed this, but the time between waves is way too long. IMO the jump should be more powerful to begin with, seems just a token ability at the start.
I love the "Not Play" screen :D The controls are just too annoying for me to keep playing though :p Maybe that's the point though...
I liked the combining amoeboids idea :) I didn't realise it was them creating the yellow for a while though, so didn't think it was dangerous until too late :p
Very nice looking and sounding :) A progress bar would be nice. I think your parallax effect has way too much movement per player movement - doesn't give the correct impression of distance at all.
Funny setting :D I couldn't work out what the power ups did, except for the one that gave you 50 beers.
You pulled off a full story - great, especially the voice over! The gameplay is fun, and something new :) A voice over for the talking morble cutscene is the only thing that feels like it's missing. Well done!
There don't seem to be any links to play this, am I missing the obvious?
Very visually appealing! Even the cubes are nicely animated when they run away :D
My attacks didn't seem to do enough damage to kill anything, and it took a long time for food to be produced which slowed my progress down a lot. It's an interesting idea but the pace could be improved :)
Neat idea :) I couldn't figure out the correct sequences, wasn't sure if I even had all the right skulls. I think it might just be me, but I find it really annoying when games put the jump key in the same place as the movement ones - I find it hard to coordinate :(
Sad that you couldn't finish gameplay, but these things happen - it looks like a very nice world :)
The sound loops a little too soon for my liking, but the graphics are really nice :)
Very slow at the start, and then overwhelming when the laser guys first show up! The shooting is a lot louder than the music, so you can't hear it so well :(
The game looks great, but movement and reload time were too slow for me - made it very frustrating.
Reminds me more of Dragon Warrior Monster than Pokemon - I like it :) The attack power seems a lot higher than HP - at the beginning everything was dying in one or two moves.
Really cool idea! The microphone didn't work too well for me - I had to put it right next to my mouth and make a buzzing noise to reliably kill things :P The sound effects are great, and the graphics too :)
I found the combat outcomes a bit random depending on who got a hit in first. I don't think I ever found any blue genes.
I liked that the game felt like it started immediately, purely because of the mouse controls :)
Seriously good looking game! The gameplay is nice, but I couldn't work out how to apply the enchantments to my traps :(
I really warmed to this game after a while - wanted to play it to the end :) Pity there don't seem to be enough evogems to make the whole world come to life!
Moving past trees is a little annoying - get suck a lot.
The game looks great, and plays fun as well :)
The limited vision hints as a mood that could be really good with sound. The enemy bullets are very hard to see, and without any sound cues either it's difficult to know they are there.
Nice game, good graphics and audio :)
I couldn't seem to get the DNA for health exchange to work - and there's no indication of how much upgrades will cost until you can afford them, so I didn't know if I should save up or not :(
Thanks for all the feedback guys :)
The sound is annoying, I admit - I thought it'd be better than silence, but it seems it's more irritating than anything, especially since it only really serves to hint that you are winning or losing.
The fact that they cluster is a big problem - they need to try and spread out more - fleeing from attacks, building children in safety, and collision are possibly solutions that I'll try when I come back to this :)
And yeah, it's quite difficult to tell what's going on - fewer starting organisms is probably the way to go, but improvements to choosing which organism to take control of after you die will probably help too.
Thanks again for the feedback guys :)
Really sorry about the sound bug (the warning sound should stop when the game ends!).
I was worried it would take me too long to implement collisions (it was actually shamefully easy :(), which would have (and has, post-compo - along with some changes to make the AI try to give birth in safe areas) solved the clustering problems.
There were also a number of bugs with detecting which organisms you were clicking on, if any, so there are some cases where it's difficult, if not impossible, to drain/heal/breed when it looks like it should be - I have fixed those post compo.
The other problem that seems to have come up is that a mutual attack on someone stronger than you appears no different to your attack failing as an organism kills you. I haven't worked out how best to solve this yet.
Nice idea :) Seems like vision should increase faster, I didn't realise notice a difference as I played through several generations. If you were interested in expanding it at all later, you should add a memory stat that lets you continue to see things that were in your vision for a short while longer.
Pretty cool :) I find it hard to tell if I'm big enough to take on another cell - and sometimes hard to tell if cells are connected to a red one.
The game started REALLY slow for me, but was fine after some white cells disappeared.
The intro game was a nice puzzle :) The ignorance baddies could use a simple behavioural change - make them walk toward the centre rather than letting them get stuck walking into the wall.
I asked myself "is that it" after pulling the lever - and was pleasantly surprised when I figured out where the rest of the game was :D
Nice idea :) The pushing physics was a little weird - very jittery and I think I managed a jump only because I launched between two boxes :p
Quite fun, and the music is a nice addition :)
I liked the wind sounds a lot! Really helped the music with the mood :) The fireballs looked pretty cool too :)
With the bow and arrow it'd be nice if you could just hold down mouse to fire continuously. I didn't see the dragon fully because I didn't want to jump - maybe you could move the camera a bit higher relative to the player for this?
Pretty interesting idea, and it actually turned out well :) I was going to complain about it becoming tedious, but then I realised that I was doing things I didn't have to anymore :P I found disarming the bomb with automove impossible, so I stopped there.
Surprisingly fun for what it is :) I can't seem to survive the second level though :( As far as I can tell there's not any advantage to taking on the enemies one on one? (maybe that's where I'm going wrong)
Interesting idea. I think you should have just made the game window wider, rather than letting the player go off the edge of the screen.
p.s I think there is a bug - when I started a new game after losing, it still thought my time had run out
Cute game :)
Really cool idea, but the black pieces are game-breaking!
It took me a while to figure out the doors are doors, and in general what things were in the boat room - kinda frustrating! Also, without visual feedback, I wasn't sure my attack was working until the guy died.
The mini-map is a nice touch - helped me to find the first door (:p!), but also what directions I should be heading in.
Interesting game, but I feel it's let down by interface issues.
Really liked the music - made the game feel exciting! The game is fun enough, though the experience DNA disappear really quickly.
The game seems to freeze initially, but then is ok.
The first jump is very unforgiving! Transformation seems to take a very long time - so long that I haven't seen an obstacle before it's too late to transform to avoid it :(
I couldn't really work out what made me grow - touching bigger cats? I think I would have enjoyed it more if the movement was faster!
The idea turned out to be much more interesting than I expected! Was interesting choosing between the options that I thought would help me get points faster. The simple graphical style is nice - could really have done with a simple bouncing sound from bxfr or something. When I added the blocks, the game pace slowed a lot because of the huge number of points I had to earn - turned me off a bit :(
The bouncing was a bit odd, sometimes the ball reversed direction instead of being reflected, and sometime got stuck in paddles or walls and bounced along until off screen.
Like it!
You've really achieved something great with the visual style - the bioforge looks really cool :) The game is fun to play, and I like the progression in it.
I had no idea what I was doing at the start - which I think works well in this game - as soon as I realised what was going on, I said to myself "this is a really neat idea". Well done :D
For what's it's worth, the graphical style is quite cute - though a little blurry. Also if I panned too much it thought my mouse button was held down when it wasn't.
There are a few articles/books on LD/GameJam survival that you might find helpful - lots of tips, especially knowing your framework before you start :p
Had to read the comments to work out what I was actually supposed to be doing - after that, seemed pretty cool. Could do with being more frantic - give us less time. Matching three seems to be a sure-fire way to win, so after that you sit there waiting. Could be more fun with maybe some multiplayer and the ability to shove other players - maybe more frequent changes of the board?
A really interesting idea. I really liked the audio :) I was annoyed at first at moving so slowly, but I guess it's part of the idea.
Very pretty to watch, but I don't feel like I have much control over what's happening - especially since I don't know any conway patterns :p
I got stuck on level 8, but I enjoyed it up until then :) The mouse and cat graphics were a bit too similar, I mistook one for myself at one point :p
Nice game, a good take on making the game of life into a real game :) Clicking through the menus gets in the way a lot.
This would really benefit from having the health/research levels presented in the map space, rather than in a GUI, I think. Perhaps you could do it by colour somehow? As it stands it's really hard to firstly notice which continents are in danger and secondly map continent numbers to continents on the map.
I do like the visual style, though, and the message behind it is good!
Absolutely beautiful - sound and visuals.
Very interesting idea, and the wind noises were nice. I found it quite difficult to actually achieve the goal though :(
I really like the idea, as described, but in the game it isn't obvious that it's happening - I'm not sure how you generated shapes, but perhaps it'd work better with using some kind of underlying DNA for generating the shapes (maybe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_graphics), and randomising/combining those?
The levels are so short that it seems jarring to have the transitions between them, or even a count - make them longer, or just make them seamless.
Nice intro :) I found the jumping a little difficult to predict - not sure why. I got stuck on a particular jump that I just couldn't get past :( Think this would be more interesting if the enemies had some capacity to jump safely and chase you instead of killing themselves when you get near.
Wow, I didn't think it was possible to be scared by a top down game like this! Really good building of atmosphere, though I have no idea what it was about :P
It's very hard to stay alive for long! The music, sounds, and voice are great though :)
I like the idea - the weak spots of enemies is emergent from the conway rules, which feels deeper than just predefined ones. Real nice :)
Cool idea :) I got stuck on the fighting level - just kept getting pummelled, and then I think I got stuck off the screen :(
The music gets annoying fast :P
Interesting, but it takes a long time for the tree to change significantly (just like real life :p)
Polished game! Pretty graphics and sound :) Have a lot of trouble with accidentally clicking outside of the window though :(
The graphics are great, even the title screen :) I enjoyed playing the game quite a lot, but there's too much difficulty down, not enough difficulty up and evolution :P
Very artsy, but what does it all mean?! I found the platformer level quite enjoyable after a while, but didn't like the shooter - maybe I'm playing too tired to react.
It wasn't really clear what the tail was - it seemed to level up with the flower pickups or something? It seemed to fly about a lot too, not sure if that was intended. In the second stage, the jumping was very buggy! The game didn't seem to register very well that you were and the ground and allowed to jump, and the wall jumping felt like I was abusing the physics rather than doing what was intended :( The 3d stage suffered a bit from the collision - I seemed to be able to walk through the houses. Still, I liked the graphics and it was nice to have sound an music - a good idea, but playability diminished by the physics.
Really great idea :D Sadly, I am very bad because I never notice the spikes until too late, and I'm too clumsy to hold onto shoes/bombs/jump to make any use of them. I think a simple chat feature would have been cool - to make it a bit more social since I suck at the game :p
I like the graphical style - looks like it could be quite interesting with more time :)
Did I just play a stop motion docurotica game about board games?
I found it really hard to control - couldn't get wood chopping to work :( It's nice visually, and quite impressive for the time :)
I like the idea, especially with the creature editor, but for me it took a really long time to score each hit on the enemy because of the turning circles and judging bullet speed etc, so I didn't get to try it out too much.
An interesting take on breakout :) I really like the music. The miss sound effect reminded me of Chip's Challenge's bummer.wav - made me chuckle :D
Did you take any graphical cues from the Juice It or Lose It video? The wobbling effect reminded me of that, but easily a coincidence since they are both breakout games already :p
The horizontal acceleration is way too high - really hard to land on small platforms and make tight jumps. It was cool enough to make me want to play on, but I to stop in frustration :(
Actually, I just completed it :P Also forgot to say that I like the graphical style :)
A very frustrating concept! Took me a while to realise what was going on, that I had to earn the ability to see my character :P (should have read the hints) - Would have been better to have transparent characters I think, so that when they overlap the invisible ones don't overwrite the visible ones.
Looks and sounds beautiful :)
I really can't work out what to do after moving to the second level - I seem to be in an enclosed room with no exit?
The red shark is really hard to dodge! Hope you got something out of this learning experience - keep practicing and doing Ludum Dares and you'll hone your skills in no time :)
I loved this as soon as I started playing! The simple graphic style, combined with the music and leisurely gameplay is really beautiful :)
Do I love this humour?
Yes
The intro text is very slow, and unskippable :(
Sound is nice, and the graphics are great, especially the damage numbers! I didn't find much reason to attack slimes that weren't blocking my way, or the boss, which wasn't many - not sure if that's intended or there needs to be more incentive.
Pretty, and polished :D I found I didn't have the reaction speed to save myself from a click loop before the deer had made it too far.
Super polished :D The introduction to the controls, and the cutscene were really great! I kinda wanted to get to the action a bit sooner though.
Sound would be a definite improvement - I only started noticing when actually attacking guys and not realising I'd missed because there was no audio feedback.
All my kittens were spastic - good trait for winning :P
Nice endings :D Knocking down things is always fun, and this is a nice take on that :)
Looks and sounds great :) It took me a while to figure out that the Xs were the wires you were talking about! The mechanics are a little hard to pick up, but I like the idea of adaptive tower defence games!
Very pretty!
Funny :D I found the boss annoying!
It'd be nice to have some visual feedback that you are attacking a slime (and vice versa)
Love the "YOU ARE EVOLVING" sound :D
I like the concept a lot! The sounds/graphics of the shape being generated are really nice. It feels like evolving more vertices just slows you down though - maybe if the shape generated triangles as you go then more vertices would be better?
Nice to see a base building RTS-like game :) I couldn't really work out why I wasn't collecting any oil - maybe there are too many resources to keep track of in this game? I like the idea!
The graphical idea is great! Black turnips are a little hard to see though.
It's be nice if there was an indication of high you had to build. The physics could do with some tweaking - the logs are very bouncy!
Neat little game :)
I liked this :) Not sure why, but I got an Epic Fail but was still able to go on to win and get my Epic Win.
Neat idea, but it feels too difficult - in the time it takes me to find a path through to something to eat, I've already shrunk too much :(
I wasn't able to play the game because I immediately fall off the screen quickly when I start :( Looking at your source, I think it might be because you aren't taking into account the dt passed into love.update - this means people with higher frame rates have to play the game faster, which in my case seems to not be humanly possible :p
I pasted in some lines to fix the frame-rate to 20fps and played again - I like the angry fish :D
The jumping about when you evolve was really disorienting - I thought I was trapped in a tunnel but I was actually accidentally walking back to the start for a long time! Toning down that jump, plus some graphical variation could really help that. The footstep noise was quite annoying after a while.
The level was quite good, except sometimes you had to back track too far to shrink yourself after solving a puzzle that needed you to be big.
I think the player moves too fast, and is not very easy to see once enemies and bullets are everywhere - that said, I really liked the game the second I started :D
Cool idea :) I found the monsters pretty much impossible to dodge, but they seemed to stop coming when I only had two males left, which left the game in a bit of a dead end.
Quite entertaining, and a good idea for the theme :)
The flow of the game feels really good, especially with the music :) Graphics are cute too!
Really neat idea :) Could do with either a built in tutorial on Wireworld, and maybe a clipboard of gate patterns for people who don't know them. Spamming the rocket exclusively seemed to work well, so some kind of counter would probably be a good idea!
I couldn't work out how to get past the other person, or to use my inventory :( It looks pretty though!
Really couldn't figure out level 3 with all the trees - am I supposed to jump to the platform the turtle falls off of?
Took me a while to work out that ! called the dog, but I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to be doing :(
The amoebas are very pretty :) I like the visual instructions screen!
Really hard! A lot of the difficulty for me comes from the jumping and some of the level design where you jump to a platform only to have a dinosaur come running at you before you can run back :(
Despite that, I really did want to get further, so I kept playing, but still can't get too far. I like the enemy design :D The glowy graphics of the power ups and bullets don't seem to fit with the rest of the pixelly graphics though.
Crazy idea - like the punching sperm :p
Beautiful, and funny too :) It seems like you have to mash spacebar rather than hold it down like the instructions say, which is a bit annoying. Overall I like this game!
Starts off pretty slow, but good after a while :) Got overwhelmed pretty soon after the walls came though!
The red guys are really ruthless! I can't seem to do much to survive once they get my scent :( Nice game for something made from scratch :)
Nice idea, but it seems a shame the level is so short - there wasn't any time to ramp up the challenge, and explore the different uses of the various evolutions. The choice of the first evolution is countered by having to pick up wall jumping either way :(
I found this game very tough - couldn't really tell when I was in a state where green would heal me vs a state when green would hurt me. I think the blocks pull to strongly on you - difficult to get away in time get over 95% energy.
Very very interesting idea.
The minimal effort graphics are great! The music is grating :p
I enjoyed it :)
In some ways it felt calming, but the time pressure works against that. I like the graphics overlaid on the constellations when you finish the drawing.
Funny game :D Wasn't sure how long the song was going to go on for, but apart from that it seemed really neat :)
The graphic style is really nice :)
The simplicity of this is great :)
The art style works really well, though I felt the torches seem to stick out. Trying to work out why your jumps fail when you are invisible is REALLY frustrating :p
It's really fun playing all the different games that did limited vision - everyone has a different take on it. Yours is the most similar to mine that I've played so far, your sounds are much nicer, but I can't tell what kind of movement scheme is being used (left/right to turn or to move?).
Good take on the theme, and well realised too :) Check out my game, I tried to go for a similar thing with audio only - it didn't work out so well :p
I found it so hard to understand what was going on - thought I got it then rooms started overheating and I couldn't work out why. When the rooms exploded and went static repairing didn't seem to do anything.
The graphics, especially the laser movie, look awesome.
Interesting idea. Never really understood some of the letters, whilst others made sense eventually.
chose to not shit my pants, but I really enjoyed the game anyway. this has great gamefeel.
The exploding room is a really cool idea! I think the best strategy is to just sit in a corner.
ella, yeah I think I made a bad choice on the static/movement - it's supposed to signify that you are almost touching a wall, so movement isn't going to do anything. However my code actually lets you slide along walls so it doesn't really tell you the whole truth. The screen will always make it look like you are moving even when you are stuck - I didn't want to give any information about shape visually, but I think it's just confusing.
It is very difficult to navigate - even with the same information presented visually instead of aurally I think it would be too difficult to navigate... imagine and FPS where all the walls are coloured by how far away they are but you can only see a single vertical slice of the screen.
Yeah you are quite right about positional feedback - I have a few ideas of audiogames that can do this better. I'm now following you on twitter so hopefully you will post something there if you do any more audiogames :)
Sorry wade, this is probably because you have a joystick plugged in that doesn't have an analog stick - my code is not very robust. You can open the .love file as a zip to see the source, but I should add a zip.
Really enjoyed the pace this forced me into.
Really interesting to see how the meaning of the text can change as it's given additional detail. I love the colour scheme - very Mirror's Edge
Really nice aesthetic :)
I had a real hard time figuring out which moves are valid and why, but the idea seems really cool :)
This was really touching :)
This game made me feel like the potato king
Interested take on limited vision - one of the few where I actually don't feel overwhelmed by an inability to tell where I am. It feels fair. Check out my game; I tried something similar but it didn't turn out as well. Good job!
Really enjoyable just to watch the piece grow - the idea that I can learn what effect each key had and perhaps learn to purposely create a world is pretty cool!
Such a cool idea! The sliding through walls glitches are really funny :D
Game looks great. Just couldn't do 19 no matter how much I tried :(
This game feels really punchy :D
I love the rolling noise :) The drawings are beautiful.
Funny idea :D
Nice idea. Got stuck on level five... not sure if I'm missing something or I just can't click that quickly
Really uncomfortable mood, especially the touching vibrators. Got really stuck on the "i cant remember" level. The unreliable jumping is very frustrating!
Quite hard to understand what's going well - I think I'm trying to stop the boulder from crushing the bunnies on the bottom? More feedback on when you fail/succeed would be good :)
Nice take on the theme. A very interesting puzzle!
Quite an interesting idea! Couldn't really work out the two planet level, but I think something along the lines of a figure 8 is what I need?
Really interesting to play, but I found the steering really difficult and my character seemed to jump many squares at once some times.
Really enjoyable and beautiful. My only criticism is that it's easy to accidentally advance the menu twice when holding down left/right in the first screen. I can't unlearn batting away the potatoes :(
Great :D Shame the music just stops and it doesn't get tougher. Will be keeping an eye out for the post-compo version :)
I couldn't figure out some of the tougher levels, but I thought this was a really cool idea :)
This game was strangely amusing - the disability in month three was really interesting too :P Really gave that sense of the system being stacked against you.
Shame you couldn't finish :(
My mission if I choose to accept it:
THICK CHART COURAGE GREEN
PROTECT JUVENILE CONCLUDE
DEFEAT OIL AFTER
Very interesting idea!
I love the audio. I love that spamming the controls makes an interesting sound and makes it look like a smooth vine. I love that it feels like you are really a vine trying to feel around and grow through a gap towards the light.
Amusing game :D The voice narration is great!
Really great idea! The game stands well as it is, even though you ran out of time :)
Very cool idea!
cool ideas - i liked the bigger you = bigger bullet thing when i figured it out. i find precision with controller quite hard so trigger was a bit fiddly and trying maintain any position relative to the center was quite hard. i think its an interesting idea that could improve a lot with tweaked curves/sensitivity for the inputs
This could have been much more interesting if you had to stop to recharge the jetpack. As it stands the obstacles are only occasionally relevant. Regardless, it was enjoyable :)
oie like yellooow
Very interesting, the sounds are great! Check out my entry, I tried a similar idea but without being able to see the walls visually (it is very hard to navigate :P)
Really beautiful. I had my volume too low at first and was mortified there was no rain sounds, but they were there after all. Really lovely mood. I saw no rainwalkers though :(
The silence, timer, and slow dialogue really sucked me in. Great game.
In my play through it came out very early that she deliberately killed the officer; it seems a shame there was not a lot of question to the events.
nice idea :)
Tough game!
Insane idea. Difficult and thankfully very short :p
I was really struggling until I read the instructions and saw you could shoot (stupid me :p). Maybe I am just not used to the genre, but I found it really hard to work out what the hitbox of my character was supposed to be.
Really hard! I like that you're made to play all the characters to complete the quest rather than just picking one and missing out on 3/4 of the game.
Really interesting game! It was a little too long for my liking (I didn't play long enough to see if there was any story to see).
Really great to look at, but for my eyes the contrast between different unit types is too low. Took me a while to figure out how to start the game :p
This felt really interesting :) Is the animation at the start hand drawn, or is there some technique you can use to do that?
Nice :) The entities sometimes fire directly into a wrong wall which makes a horrible sound :p
Great take on the theme. It's nice to interact with the art in this way. Don't worry, the funny voices are great!
I found the first level most difficult - perhaps you should alpha blend the blizzard layer?
The walking sounds are very cute :D I really like hearing what the fish have to say - a nice incentive to catch them!
Nice game :)
I am really bad at this game - I can't mash the keyboard fast enough :P It looks very nice at least!
Awesome. Everything felt great but I much preferred stage 2
yes the readme is great
The controls feel great - the rope is very liero. It felt awesome to feel like I was becoming more confident and acrobatic; taking more risks in jumps and getting a flowing movement going.
The greatest science fiction ever written
Really lovely sound.
Interesting idea! I was initially confused because I was expecting FPS style point and click aiming instead of always targeting what you are standing on.
I think it is too difficult to tell very similar colours apart (when they are just a little darker than another) and it'd be better if you'd used a few more hues than the blue and green. Perhaps it's not straightforward to implement but it would look much better if some of the grid cells were joined to make the cells have different alignments like in the real paintings.
I am very bad at this :D
The graphics are superb. Whilst it's true I felt satisfaction from finally hitting the cube, it didn't feel fair. I didn't feel like I was learning how to aim in that really weird perspective so much as feeling around in the dark - every time the cube moved I had to start from the beginning.
I was a bit confused about colour - thought lightness was part of a shape rather than an indicator of its happiness. Really interesting game!
Minimalist graphics and sound used to very good effect! It really looks great.
Agree about movement and collision being a bit clunky.
The minimalist graphics are very nice :)
Not bad! I think I had a bug where lots of the ships would die at once, but it worked fine the next time :)
It looks great! The health bars look a bit out of place, they might have worked better as rings or something.
I really love these multiplayer world building games! I found the controls a little annoying (kept pressing right click by instinct from paint programs :p) but it's a damn cool idea :D
Neat idea! The sounds are a bit grating :p
Your games always sound awesome :) I love the ending :D
The music is great! I really liked the story too :)
The visuals and audio are great. I really enjoyed looking around the world. However, first person platforming is frustrating, especially since it takes so long for the platforms to align. I would stop here, but @NiallEM makes it sound like things get really good after you get to the top, so I'm gonna give it another go later :)
Very interesting scoring mechanic!
It's not too hard to play with a friend online, which is great! Could do with respawn delays to make it play better, I think.
The graphics are superb! The game is pretty challenging, the minimal design works really well. It really needs audio, but you already knew that :)
the jiggling of the blocks really gives them life. really nice idea
You get a hell of a lot out of the minimal graphics - impressive. A sound effect for the smashing would have made it feel so much more alive.
aaaaah very interesting atmosphere!
very interesting idea!
This game is excellent! The graphics are amazing, love that pixel art on the splashes, and awesome audio too. Really interesting mechanic too, trying to get the triangles kind of reminded me of Dolphin Olympics :p this has one of my highest ratings so far!
really enjoyable, the music, animations, lighting stuff created a nice mood :)
i'm all for dire puns
pretty game too :D
really liked the take on the theme - would like to see more! found the platforming difficult to use but ultimately not important as long as i landed on the right part of the shore. still, really cool idea
haha nice.
Not really sure how it fits in with the theme but it was an interesting concept
lovely style
Really enjoyed this! The root splitting makes for some pretty strategic gameplay :)
Pretty challenging!
Really enjoyed this, it was a nice take on the theme and done in a very funny way! Also the audio and jittery graphics really suggested anxiety :p
interesting idea, think it could do with going a little faster!
Very very short! Still a nice game though, the graphics and audio were great, got stuck on walls a lot though
nice idea! took me a long time to find the dino as i was using too light a touch
woop, pretty fun!
i think the game is still running in the background after i close it, i can still hear the music haha
i like it! the hitbox on the sub could be better, kept hitting a rock without hitting it when i was trying to go under it
fyi your .love version crashes love for me, think it must be a love2d bug since it's a crash not an error
Lovely graphics! Very challenging game but a lot of fun!
the intro is amazing
cool! got really stuck swinging on the roots though, it's pretty flakey there
Would definitely be nice to see more levels! This level was nice and intuitive though, and the graphics were very nice
great music and sprites :DD
came back to say i'm still listening to this music :D
liked the character portraits!
felt like it didn't really matter which attack i used, especially since you fully heal after battles
think it would look a lot better if you didn't mix 3 different pixel sizes!
lovely style as usual. loved digging the clay with my hand
got all the upgrades and went to the bottom, the hull damage didn't seem to matter that much - would've been nice to have some kind of ending
drilling is fun! liked the driller sprite and the audio adds up to a nice mood. not sure if the flying ability of the drill got stronger with the upgrades or i just didn't realise it until late
moody, i like it!
Nice controls, although it's pretty tricky when you get to a new level and are attacked before you have a chance to move!
neat idea, the creature descriptions are a little hard to read but otherwise pretty damn good :)
interesting game, i think the humour detracts from the cool mood you were building, and it'd been nice to add some ambient sound in there to reinforce it
Ran out of enemies quite quickly! Maybe have the health and air indicators as bars rather than text to make it easier to read?
nicely put together :)
Loved the graphics, and the audio was really nice too. Seems odd that you can infinitely spam the towers rather than having some mana/resources or something though
really lovely title/win screens, like the player sprite too. didn't really need to interact with anything but the last boulder it seems. some simple audio would bring this to life!
Awesome music, pretty cool game!
Interesting concept, really liked this :)
was surprised by how this game made me feel - quite anxious to not be seen! perhaps because of the slow movement - suspenseful? at the same time the movement felt quite staggered and could maybe be smoother? the game seemed pretty hard!
can't seem to actually place action blocks when the tutorial tells me to :(
achieves quite a pleasant mood :)
One of my favourites so far! Loved everything about it, awesome graphics and music, very addictive gameplay, nice simple idea that works really well!
like the visuals :)
some simple ambient sounds would have really improved this!
i think i zoomed out of the map by accident
The art style in this is fantastic, especially the boat room! Nice story as well :)
lovely sprites as always :D
ahhh this was great! interesting to play and not too drawn out either :D
Lovely art style :) Not sure if I was supposed to be able to catch any fish, but I didn't manage to. Watching the day pass on the background was great though
lol, i like the sproing
seriously impressive graphics :D
like the music. couldn't get the usb key to work on the computer but i got the first cover at least. managed to glitch myself out of the lever over the first person :p
such an unforgiving game should not go back to the title screen if you die!!
i like the idea but going through the menu again and again is annoying. as with many ludum dare games, the addition of even basic audio would have added a lot!
took me a while to realise i needed to wait a bit for the blocks to mine - some kind of audio cue for digging would have worked well here!
unfortunately didn't get to experience the multiplayer aspect
Fairly short, but pretty funny and fun to play, didn't find it that challenging though, made it to the end on almost full health!
good effort and glad to see you learnt a lot :)
very interesting idea. don't think i quite understood the win condition, i seemed to have three x in a diagonal but it didn't win. wasn't sure if it would work diagonally over many layers either
Nice game :) enjoyed the magnetic power up!
really lovely move, couldn't seem to actually find any fish, but sailing was nice anyway
couldn't really work out what the colours meant, or the particular mechanics of why i couldn't link everything together
however the game looks and sounds great :D
too bad i played so late, took a long while to get anywhere interesting - pretty cool idea though!
love seeing rpgmaker games with home made sprites! this was a really interesting game, a nice kind of introspective experience :) i didn't really know a lot of the books/songs so my choices were quite inconsistent
beautiful graphics!! enjoyed the prompts to open files, strangely
wish i'd read to play the easier mode at the start! think you probably take too long to get to the actual interesting under the surface part - but it is a really cool idea. good work on the music also :)
really pleasant mood - good audio and aesthetic :)
Lovely art! Took a while to figure out the controls, would have been nice to be able to shoot up and down too, overall nice game though
Nice graphics :)
any game where you are a dolphin gets my vote!
i liked how the sound changed as the snakes got faster through the levels :)
seen a lot of drilling games but i like that this once moves quite quickly, would be good if it started off more challenging though. quite like the player sprite :)
I like the idea of the walls moving in but I think it makes the level of difficulty rise pretty steeply!
Love the jumping mechanic, and the graphics
I found the jumping a little too sensitive, but it's a nice concept and I enjoyed playing it :)
felt kinda difficult to work out how/when the foam would actually extinguish the fire
the wall hugging mechanic was interesting - some kind of audio feedback for that would be good though
the second stage is brutal! pretty interesting idea, i liked the reloading. never seemed to put the barrels to much use
nice atmosphere, the background sounds are great. very pretty too
the game of thrones theme is playing in my head :D
cute animations :D
this is very hard to understand, but i think the game as i understood it is similar to jacks - using reflexes to grab tokens in a short time window?
ah! this makes a lot more sense explained in those terms :) it's always great to hear when people have learnt a lot from participating in a jam; keep at it!
love mouth sounds but i think the volumes for the music/bfxr/recorded sounds need to be balanced better - had to turn up pretty high to hear the music
liked the kinda claustrophobic feel from the light, v appropriate for undersea. the intro is too long for how easily i die :p
same here, not really sure how to run the windows version
really cool idea and a good set of levels implemented :)
Nice game :)
The map didn't seem to link with the placement of doors very well, but I really liked the graphics and it was a lot of fun!
Really enjoyed the mechanics of this, and the music is awesome! Didn't like how it's possible to get stuck on corners, would be easier if the movement snapped to a grid, but other than that it was really cool :)
i have no idea what i just played, but i laughed
i liked all the different patterns of elements :)
seemed like hammering the attack key made it impossible to die. really like the sprites :D
interested in seeing a post compo version of this :)
nice game :) would be cool if the rocks just stuck around and you won if you got to the top or something
Annoying that if you fail at a level it takes you back to the start rather than just to the beginning of that level, but in general I liked the concept, and it was pretty fun to play
liked the graphics but the controls were kinda confusing to get used to and restarting all the way from the beginning is frustrating!
seems really hard to dodge most waves, maybe impossible? also often i get stuck without enough dirt to carry me upwards but at the same time this seems to be good for my score since i can't die whilst i'm not making progress? still, cool game :)
the link given doesn't seem to load!
would be interesting to have some ability to avoid monsters after running into them blind (though obv much difficult than smartly avoiding them) - still seemed pretty doable after working it out :)
as noted the controls are difficult for some keyboards - consider using the dedicated arrow keys next time?
didn't figure out what was going on but it looks and sounds pretty nice :)
Nice game, level changes are a bit sudden, but fun to play :)
The graphics are awesome, love the mosaic effect!
Couldn't really plant much at all before the giant comes, interesting idea though
Really nice game! I found the controls a little difficult with the slide after you land, concept is awesome though
this is quite badly packaged! you should probably list the link as windows / linux rather than web. to run the windows version you need to download the first two zips to the same place.
all that said, i like the game! quite surreal
i like the menu screen image :)
am i doing it right by mining the gold blocks? it didn't add to my percentage and it seemed there was no indication i picked up the gold at all
couldn't really work out what decided how many connections a neuron could have, and it took me a while to understand the scoring - but i won!
stuck on the level in the screenshot - thought this turned out quite interesting afterall :)
really like the audio in this :D
shame you ran out of time, but it seems like a promising start!
keep at it! not sure what type of advice you're looking for but there's a great video out there called Juice It or Lose It that is very good for making games feel like something more - e.g even placeholder sounds add a lot and are not too difficult to include
genuinely satisfying controls! the game was quite frustrating by i liked the voice overs :D
cool design for the main ship - liked the sounds too!
it was interesting to think about what forgiveness really means and think more consciously about how i respond to apology (and also what i'm expecting when i apologise) - great take on the theme
really lovely colours and sprites
very cute :D
really interesting
really liked the graphics, got kinda confused by the "hunger" bar getting smaller the hungrier you are :p
there's something very satisfying about pulleys
interesting idea! very difficult to place stations on the right tile without centering the screen though, due to perspective
nice aprites, wish there'd be some perfunctory sounds to compliment. i quite like this kind of platformer :)
very challenging in a good way! very enjoyable. also love the mouth sounds :D
great take on the theme. sorely missing audio!
Managed to get near the treasure but died before I found it! The atmosphere was good, perhaps a few more things to view or interact with would have been cool? I found that once i got on the right path i was basically just holding the up arrow until i made it to the treasure
really like the graphic style :) even some basic audio would have brought this to life!
Nice balance of use of abilities, maybe have them hot-keyed rather than clickable though? Great game :)
