LD23 — Tiny World

Pow! Pow! Pow! by Cake&Code 2012-04-26T04:46:00

The art in this game is gorgeous, and the sound felt mostly appropriate (the blip when shooting is slightly jarring; a more melodious shot would have felt better to me). I understand that movement was probably limited to emphasize the smallness of the protagonist, but I wanted to explore the weird shapes in this world, and I was frustrated at the rate of my progress. Moving felt slippery.

I also realize the text is probably placeholder, but I definitely think less is more, here. The art and music are so compelling, the less exposition in the game, the less likely it is that the mood will be disrupted.

Zilla the Destroyer by deps 2012-04-27T03:51:00

I really wanted to play this, but it told me "the java jar file could not be launched. I do have an old version of OSX (10.5.8). :(

A Bathtub Story by ehtd 2012-05-12T17:30:00

This was adorable, and I love any game that allows me to shoot a disembodied knee. Wish bullets would have some visual impact, would have made it more fun to shoot, but I also like the dinky feelings that resulted from the pea-shooter sounds.

Lord Deadrock's Adventures by abstroke 2012-04-26T03:39:00

I really enjoyed the low resolution backgrounds; I found them very expressive, and they established a nice sense of place. I found myself wishing for actors that would provoke the same sense of mystery that the background did. I found the movement hilarious.

Ra Ra by YMM 2012-05-12T17:12:00

This is glorious. It feels so satisfying to get a solid hit; playing the game with a motivated friend quickly becomes a nice mind game, pleasantly anxious feelings. Great feedback when you connect.

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-05-12T18:03:00

I really enjoyed the pacing of this game. I spent just enough time thinking "is this it?" for the revelation of complexity to be meaningful. I think the absence of instructions is really important for this game; a lot of the enjoyment is in discovering how small you really are. Loved the movement of the other organisms, also. I would like to see a "reload" button; sometimes I wasn't sure if I was in the viewport any longer, and I wasn't sure if it looped.

Little Biyubi by edbadiux 2012-04-28T06:15:00

I liked this moody little world. The textures and sprites are great, and the colors feel wonderful to look at as you walk around. I thought the pacing was a little slow; there are a lot of enemies that don't do much, and nothing to shoot them with. I would have liked to see smaller levels with more distinct enemy behaviors, so that avoiding them was more fun. Music felt nice to listen to.

microchip by DiscoFish 2012-04-26T03:16:00

I enjoyed being in this tiny world! The gravity and animation of the character felt very nice; great visual feedback that really made it feel solid. I wish I had some more interesting limitations on using the midair blocks; since I could place them whenever I wanted, it just felt like I should have been flying instead. Since they felt unstable, it reminded me of Cactus Block, and I kind of wish that every once in awhile a block would be generated that would detonate and create more bad blocks or move existing ones around, or something.

The crazy synth noodling really made me feel great. It contributed to the feeling of an unbalanced world, along with all the drifty graphics. I liked the ambiguity of the ending.

Giant Apple Pie by mmarcati 2012-04-26T02:33:00

I loved this. I laughed at the giant's proclamations. I hated stepping on the houses because it made people sad, but I loved it also because it was very satisfying. The giant seemed like a nice fellow. Would love some sound.

Pie is a great goal to strive for in any video game.

Flip by Kom 2012-05-12T16:33:00

This idea of hiding scenery changes behind perspectives reminds me of Mondo Medicals, which did some cool "illogical" puzzles with perspective. I really liked the flips, and there's something really visceral about rotating a 3D object and having it reveal more sides than are logically available. I would enjoy seeing this turned into a first person exploration-type game. A series of Noctis-like worlds where this was possible would be rewarding by themselves, with no other mechanics.

Fracuum by TylerGlaiel 2012-04-28T06:17:00

I greatly enjoyed this game, particularly the battery-enemies and the boss. The boss's eyes kept him from feeling unfair, and the slow wind-up, screen shake, and sounds made for a menacing face-shoot experience. The zoom at the end is altogether lovely. If the victory screen gave me the good job and then endlessly zoomed me through it, I would be in love.

Pluto's Revenge by Hattered 2012-05-12T17:09:00

The physics of this game feel really nice, and the palette and sounds felt pretty soothing to me. An arrow or an indicator in the direction of the remaining planets would have been helpful as I got bigger; there was a little bit of Arkanoid syndrome, where I spent a lot of time chasing down one or two planets. I loved watching the huge mass swing around and scoop things up, though.

Planet Trot by Logan 2012-05-12T16:28:00

I love the feel of this game. The fox is adorable, and the colors of the planet make it really pleasant to walk around. I would have loved a crazy Minter-like effect on picking up the shroomberries; if the planet growth were more overtly tied to something like that, it would be really motivating for me. The scorpion is great, also.

Delirium by Puccini 2012-04-26T02:27:00

I loved the faces in the rocks. The plants were nice, too. I would have enjoyed more reasons to become small to explore; I wanted to get to the goal, but it would have been nice to have treasures or artifacts to get in tiny places that weren't necessary, but challenging to get and pretty. A nice beginning.

The Elves end the Shoemaker by Nora Shishi 2012-04-29T05:04:00

The fanfare at the end! Perfect. A gleeful expression of the futility of the bootstrap myth.

Scape by intmain 2012-04-29T05:18:00

Great set of mechanics, and difficulty was sloped nicely. Very satisfying graphics, even with the grid-based movement. The music for the title screen was nice; the movement sound effect felt a little flat to me, but it was certainly functional.

Stellar Nurse by Bleck 2012-04-26T03:29:00

It was very satisfying to sew the planets. The physics for the lopsided pieces felt great; I agree that it would be really nice to have planets do something other than disappear and accrue points. If they were added to the sky somehow and given silly names, I think that would be enough for me. It would be so nice, to have a peaceful planet collection!

Pin Party by cambrian_era 2012-04-29T05:28:00

I thought this was an amusing take on the theme and I enjoyed the enemy sprites and the lasers, as well. I think it would have been more fun to shoot the enemies if there was some visual / aural feedback, but I loved getting the new angels and seeing the huge wall of rainbows I was creating. I was ready for the game to end the first time I got back to the pin; increasing angel speed might help with this?

2 Tiny Gods by Tulrath 2012-04-27T03:47:00

I enjoyed the premise of this game, and I liked the weirdo mix of sprites. The fluctuation of powers is a neat idea, although I wasn't sure what was making them change at first. The collision detection for the worlds seemed uneven. I think I would have enjoyed "impact" sounds to give feedback that I was hitting the enemies and bumping into the worlds. I wanted a reason to shoot the little fellows, but there wasn't enough of a visual / aural reward for doing so.

OWWW by moonmagic 2012-04-26T04:25:00

Thanks DiscoFish! Most of the sounds are mouth noises, pitched up in Nitrotracker.

OWWW by moonmagic 2012-04-26T04:36:00

Also everyone, thanks for playing. I am making more levels as we speak; check back when you are not doing important things with your lives!

OWWW by moonmagic 2012-04-30T04:21:00

Thanks for the lovely comments, everyone. It's so heartening to have people play this weird thing.

I've added another level to the post-compo version, putting the total at 3! I have ideas for a few more; we will see! Next build: WIZARDS?

Niña Nueve by Jonathan Whiting 2012-04-28T06:35:00

I thoroughly enjoyed this. The bright, playful color palette and chunky sprites remind me of Marble Madness, and evoke the same surreal atmosphere. The animation of the changing grid is fantastic; I do feel as if I'm inhabiting something that is alive. There's something about the piano lines that reminds me of Chip's Challenge, but I might just be conflating the morphing grid with the occasionally surprising results of playing levels from that game. I played until the end. I preferred the snake monsters to the blobs; I know you probably made blobs slow to prevent twitch puzzles, but waiting for them to bump into the fences was occasionally tedious. It didn't bother me for long, though.

Tiny God by davidwparker 2012-04-27T03:39:00

I enjoyed watching the planets drift by, and I thought that the peaceful feeling of the scene contrasted nicely with the mindless destruction. Sound and music would have greatly enhanced this experience; also, if watching the planets for a length of time was rewarding, there would be an aesthetic risk / reward between watching for cool interactions and destroying planets (since that is the verb).

Escape from Minimars by Adhesion 2012-04-26T03:53:00

I loved the graphics and I did not want to kill the persons, but occasionally I had to. I enjoyed the emotional turbulence I felt as the robot fired his laser and turbojets, the only possibly actions. No wonder he wanted to escape; he was destroying the citizens that loved him because he wasn't able to do anything else. I found the game slightly long. I enjoyed the change of backgrounds, but without the addition of more challengingly codependent people, I did not feel like I was truly progressing. I wanted to escape, but the task seemed overwhelming. I jumped off a cliff, rather than destroy more innocent lives.

Still it chides me. They wanted hugs. I gave them laser death.

Planet 161 by saint11 2012-04-26T04:07:00

Great platform puzzler. The guns feel well-considered and nothing feels redundant. The sprites and sounds feel substantial and make the world feel tangible, which is nice. I didn't really think the text was necessary; visual and aural feedback was enough to teach me about the different blocks and guns. Love that the slippery blocks were not explained. Great sky colors; I love that mauve.

Tiny Garden by Exorph 2012-04-29T05:00:00

I loved watching the flowers and trees. I liked naming my first species. After I named my fifth species, I was consistently naming omnivores "JOJOJOJOJO". I would like to watch a world out of balance naturally obliterate itself, without being told that I lost; I think a lot of the fun of this kind of game is observing and learning from the interactions. It would be great if the player had some (obvious) agency in choosing the type of animal / plant, too.

Lonely Hated Rock by Xion 2012-05-12T17:00:00

This is fantastic. Feels great to play, and reasonably fair once you figure out what's going on. The graphics and sound do a lovely job of making the game feel pretty hostile, and the brief moments of calm you receive when you build defenses are very rewarding. Love this.

GRIDiots by Taugeshtu 2012-05-12T16:43:00

I really enjoyed the graphics, and once I figured out the converter, the music was a lovely reward. I found shooting a bit frustrating, and I think that generally the game would benefit from having a lot more visual and audio feedback about the appropriateness of player actions (even bleeps when attempting to do something impossible would help); as it is, there aren't very many indicators that something is possible, and this game has a lot of really interesting possible actions.

LD24 — Evolution

Soul Jar by farmergnome 2012-08-29T05:08:00

I really love how the robot reacts to everything, possibly before the player has time to consider the ramifications of an action. I found myself picking everything up, only to realize that I had inadvertently taught the robot to collect things before I could use them (at least I think that's what happened). Seconding some other opinions about the need for some impassible obstacle after the spaceship, although I rather enjoyed the futility of just pushing into the sandstorm, forever; my robot was very protective of me, though, and I couldn't die.

I think the ideal ending for players (like me) who ignore the spaceship and travel too far away from it would be to run out of food and die while the robot makes confused, cheerful noises, and then maybe it lays down beside you.

This was really lovely.

Dawn of Dimension by jplur 2012-09-15T06:32:00

I love the tileset and the terrifying glitch worlds people are creating. I'm very glad I found this thing.

Papillon by ChevyRay 2012-09-01T04:25:00

Your powerups are so intuitive; I loved being able to play a mostly silent (in terms of telling me what to do) game. I actually really enjoyed getting the butterflies; the wing effect is very well-done. I wanted to keep playing to see the various boss forms. I think the window of input was a little small for the dash, but it really only got me on the last boss; I had framerate troubles for some reason.

People talking about judging "as a gamer"; I don't personally understand that. If you make games or have made games, you can't get back to experiencing them as a "pure" gamer; you notice the craft, whether you want to or not. So, high marks for everything except for maybe pacing, and I know you already know how to fix that.

Terra Tam: The World Warrior by L 2012-08-27T05:09:00

Gorgeous dither and a lovely sense of timing. Managed to surprise me during each scene, despite anticipation of the joke after the first. Perfect length.

Selectra by lazybraingames 2012-08-27T05:20:00

My goodness, this game looks amazing. Your color choices are delightful. I quite enjoyed the mating sequence (particularly the bones! they made it very grim) but it got slow after awhile, particularly since it has to be performed so frequently. Just speeding it up would be lovely. The UI work is really nice there; very clear what is happening. ALSO once I realized I could pummel everyone with magic it was lovely.

Would enjoy maybe faster pacing, but I like hard games that beat me up, so that might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Prance Prance Evolution by Josh Riley 2012-08-27T04:35:00

I enjoyed the rainbow horse sprites and the dizzying array of statistical options, but found myself wishing for the entire game to be a lot more ridiculous. I encountered a horse called Chevy, and I wished that it was Chevy Ray Johnston, and that caused me to wish for many silly horse names and Acme / Mariokart style random events during the race. Quite a comprehensive horse sexiness simulation attempt, though!

The Sky in the Room by Porpentine 2012-08-27T05:03:00

Oh wow. I played as a girl, and it took me awhile to stop trying to "play" the game and to become the character (I'm new to IF), but I really enjoyed the jarring, hallucinatory shifts by that point (particularly the TUNNELS, fantastic). Starting with an act that has a lot of finality before the reader / player has a chance to understand her own actions is a nice touch. Thanks for making this.

Bakeneko by Tempest 2012-09-15T06:58:00

Really love the isometric Marble Madness feel. Fun collection of mechanics here; wish there were some more spirit types to make it more challenging, but I loved the mood.

Cat Evolution! by Mamick 2012-08-27T04:47:00

I really enjoyed the music; it felt science-y and meditative. I like the idea of the fighting adding tones to it, as well, although sometimes it played the same tone at the same time and it was twice as loud (that's a minor thing, though, really).

I found myself really wanting DNA cats. I didn't know at all what to do but enjoyed trying to figure out where to put monoliths. I think my suggestion is just to make the first screen a lot less cluttered. Too many clicks are required to get into the game and I feel like I'm adjusting settings in a control panel. Watching the evolution battle unfold is fun.

ROLL PAPER, ROLL!! by Lapinou 2012-09-15T07:22:00

I like the colors all in my life.

AGAIN Corp: Adaptive Genetic Artificially Initiated Corporation by CapGrip 2012-08-30T04:26:00

I thought the idea (of improving at whatever you are trying to do when you die) was pretty neat. I liked the proportion of the character and the glowing objects. I found the control to be too finicky to really enjoy moving around the world much; I would have enjoyed exploring more otherwise.

Awareness by jefrsilva 2012-09-16T15:27:00

I wandered around eating FOOD and then when the screen turned yellow I ate another GUY to become a NEW GUY. Different colors have different kinds of awareness? I loved playing as a "blind" or "deaf" creature, except I would have liked to see those types eliminated as the enemies ate them.

Overall, I really enjoyed exploring this cryptic universe of symbols and relationships, but would maybe take the enemies out or change what happens when they hit you; the point of the game is to figure everything out (I think?), and bumping you back to the title screen if you hit one feels really punitive and frustrating.

Good Morning World! by Viridi04 2012-09-01T03:22:00

Some nice bullet patterns, here! I can tell you worked hard on the art. There was a bit too much exposition for me, and I'll echo other feedback about switching the "click" to "enter", but I enjoyed dodging. I would have liked a straight-ahead shot that did more damage and fired at the same time as the targeted shot, but 48hrs is very short, I know.

The bomb crashed the game for me, so I wasn't able to finish the level.

Evolution is the Key by Black Forest Programming 2012-09-01T03:38:00

I really love the progression from text adventure to roguelike and beyond. The sound is very jarring and perfect; it did stop working when I held down the mouse button during the ghost boss. I found the boss a little bit too hard in his final form; either he needs to shoot slower or he needs to spawn fewer red guys, because trying to dodge results in getting hit even when moving well in advance, and the walls of red guys prevent him from dying quickly, so it turns into a war of attrition that is difficult to consistently win.

1000 Evolving Kittens by moonmagic 2012-08-27T14:42:00

Hey y'all! Thanks for playing. I'm still working on this, but obviously out of time. Basically, if you let the kittens evolve on their own the game strongly favors the worm form and those will be dominant. Worm kittens are destructive and eat everything. In the finished version, you will be able to encourage kittens to evolve into their final form by steering the fat kittens into butterflies and preventing them from eating smaller kittens. The code is there for this to happen now, but without the next form, they just disappear.

1000 Evolving Kittens by moonmagic 2012-09-01T07:13:00

Hey y'all! Thanks so so much for playing this kitten universe simulator. If you'd like to have an idea of the direction I'm going in, play the post-compo build. Embrace the chaos! Early on in the evolutionary process, you won't feel like you have much agency, but later you can really Feel Your Stuff!

Still working on implementing Later and Stuff Feeling.

1000 Evolving Kittens by moonmagic 2012-09-08T19:24:00

Hi everyone! thanks again for playing. I've updated the post-compo version again; I've put the code in for the MEGA KITTEN form and balanced the world so that the worms win and empty the universe if you do nothing. No MEGA KITTEN yet, but I desperately need to clean my house. HAPPY SATURDAY!

1000 Evolving Kittens by moonmagic 2012-09-16T15:29:00

In the post-compo form of the game, the highest kitten form is now MEGA KITTEN. Working on GIGA KITTEN now.

48hr version only has three forms, and dead-ends at WORM KITTEN.

raptor disaster by mes 2012-08-29T04:46:00

Loved the cute little dinos and the detail in the scenery. Quite fun once the game started. Cutscene felt a little long to me, but I really liked having to defend dinos from the yellow dudes.

The World Hates You by mcc 2012-09-16T15:15:00

You am congratulations! Finally played this for a few levels. I actually really enjoy the fiddly, perfunctory controls; they do a good job of letting me know that The World Hates Me. The victory sound is great. Everything works well together.

The Adventure of Charles Starwin by surreal_whale 2012-09-15T06:45:00

I really liked the rainbow sparks. More rainbows! And explosions would have been wonderful. Pity there isn't a degree of Cute Sounds.

Super Conga Kat by steve 2012-08-29T04:41:00

Really wanted to play this one, but can't find a .dll. :(

I Am A Tree. You Are Not. Ha Ha. by angrygeometry 2012-08-29T04:39:00

This is delightful. A gentle world with a benevolent guide, ultimately trapped by its aesthetic ideals. Aww.

Evolution VS 1000 kittens by Citiral 2012-09-15T07:17:00

I loved the mechanics and menus (!) of this game, and the slew of kittens that happened (ha). I wish it was a little faster? I just want to stack them kittens up.

Beast Feast by UndergroundPixel 2012-08-29T05:22:00

Love the sprites; the player monster has a lot of personality and I enjoyed the additional forms. I liked this game best around 30 meat, where there were a few different attack patterns to avoid and I could collect meat quickly. I think ranged attacks, faster spawning, and more aggressive enemies would go a long way towards improving this game's hook. It feels very coherent, and the feedback from dropping and blowing up eggs is fun by itself. I just want to make more decisions with those eggs.

Unnatural Selection by saint11 2012-09-16T15:02:00

This has the shape of a fun game, and now it just needs more Guts! Fill the game with Guts and make the creatures evolve based on other player pickups? Or only reproduce when following the player? Or with a crystal? I think then, the agency of Choice would be more apparent.

Love the graphics, particularly the swelling altar. Sound is chirpy and functional. Enjoyed exploring with my swarm of minions.

Forward by zaratustra 2012-09-15T06:43:00

This was wonderful. First chapter particularly. Very much enjoyed the description of amusing my potential mate.

Hail Of Bombs by tinyworlds 2013-08-27T06:24:00

The music is fun arpy stuff. I clicked some bombs. I would click more bombs if the bombs had some kind of "you clicked me" visual effect.

The Day Magic Died by Endurion 2013-08-26T07:53:00

Very much enjoyed the death music and sound effect, very immediate and authoritative. Wished for death many times while on arrow level.

Certain Defeat by L 2013-08-27T05:52:00

A++ super gameplay

Defense of Your Craft by josefnpat 2013-08-26T08:06:00

I enjoyed the music for this and the simplicity of the turret placement was really nice. I wished for a "back up" key many times; I found myself smashing my face on turrets trying to build what I wanted.

7Tulips by pinkmonkeyhead 2013-08-26T17:19:00

I really like this. The tonal shifts from sequence to sequence make for a really intriguing contrast. I really enjoyed the car / carrothead interplay, and the jumping. Title screen is lovely too.

GLITCH by TravisChen 2013-08-27T05:11:00

WOW. Beautiful.

Gas and Air! by tripleVisionGames 2013-08-26T17:27:00

Wow. That SPLODIN' animation !!

This looks gorgeous. The balloon feels nice. Understandable lack of variation in the terrain, given the time restraints. Actually think this might be more fun as a vertical Balloon Trip / Lunar Lander hybrid? Go higher and higher, see weird Laputa-type things, collect hard to reach fuel?

Would have enjoyed the bombast of the music a bit more if the song would have started over when setting out, and if there was a nice, chill "you're planning your expedition" song, or a "wow that didn't work out" song inbetween trips.

Checkpoint by barcode 2013-08-27T04:58:00

I like the sense of speed in this game, and the sounds were squiggly and functional. The music makes me feel like I have the wind in my hair and I don't have any responsibilities. The whip-fast mouselook takes both of these nice feelings and tries to make me forget that I'm having them; the game becomes, "try not to move the mouse too much". Lowering the sensitivity of the mouse would feel more inertial, too; I think it would contribute to the feeling of speed, which is what I want this game to be about.

The abyss by dvdking 2013-08-26T07:42:00

(I can't run this; it says it's not a valid Win32 application :((( )

Ten Second Samurai by Mclogenog 2013-08-26T08:02:00

Controls feel nice to me. The blood slowly pooling was very nice. Love the colors. Wish that there was a death animation; losing felt very perfunctory. Did pretty well just by slashing madly.

Pube by magicdweedoo 2013-08-26T07:47:00

SO MAGICAL. I SUBTRACTED ONE STAR BECAUSE I HAD TO READ PUBE BUT I PUT IT BACK BECAUSE OF ALL THE SCREAMING.

I FOUND THE [ITEM] AND I PEED IN ALL THE TOILETS.

RainbowBlock by Zaelza 2013-08-26T07:43:00

Wouldn't run for me; said it encountered a problem and needed to close :(((

Haraka by gikdew 2013-08-27T06:11:00

Bright, colorful art and good scale make this game world mysterious and intriguing. The music was very good and reminded me of 90S COMPUTER; Chip's Challenge, for some reason. Some later jumps were very hard and the slow respawn time made them a bit frustrating.

Ten Seconds by Taffaz 2013-08-26T17:33:00

Nice to see someone try something new. Really satisfying when you're winning; frustrating to wait for another try if you've lost. Would have liked to see some kind of "fast forward" after you lose all your flies. Sound and music will make these feel pretty good, I think.

Ten Seconds of Thrust by flarb 2013-08-27T04:52:00

I really like the blocks and the ship sprites, and the sound effect for picking up fuel. The thruster sound was a bit too harsh for me. I found myself thrusting in the opposite directions sometimes because I expected the keys to correspond to the thruster. Would have been nice if the thruster graphics matched the rest of the sprites.

I wasn't able to get the next level to load; using Chrome, running Windows XP.

Means to an End by Back to Browse Entries 2013-08-26T17:41:00

I really like the little buildings. I gave this points for humor because the message for losing was so abrupt. I would have appreciated a little more nuance when targeting "military" installations; maybe the controls could be made even MORE slippery to highlight the difficulty of separating combatants from noncombatants?

Sound would go a long way, and a little screen shake. And fixing the typos.

Temple by 3beards 2013-08-27T05:04:00

The character is pretty fun to move around and the jump feels nice. I wish the temple was darker; some music would go a long way to set the mood.

Oops!!! v0.5alpha by Blue Steel 2013-08-26T07:58:00

I would really enjoy this if it were faster. I want to send a flood of colors towards the top of the screen, but I have to be so careful that it takes away from that virtuoso feeling. If you had multiple lives that you could lose by making mistakes, and if it didn't quit automatically (I know, it's ld48), it would be quite nice. I basically want to be allowed to make a mistake or two.

And a great song would go a long way here, too.

The Necromancer by sam1373 2013-08-26T22:10:00

I love my skeleton army so much. I LOVE this game when my skeletons are all surrounding something and just punching it until it falls down. Whenever I have to move my necromancer I am annoyed, since he refuses to move onto bodies. Maneuvering him next to a bunch of stacked up bodies is very much a bother. I would also have liked to see something like push scrolling with the mouse; generally simpler controls. Juggling everything with the order around leads to lots of piles of bones. :(

10TEN SECOND2NDs by stepvhen 2013-08-26T07:54:00

(what if you had PARTY TIME that activated when it was PARTY TIME for a PARTY PERSON and PARTY TIME slowed down??? think about it)

Party Time by JayProg 2013-08-27T06:01:00

I had to play this until the party was complete. The cat! The cat is the best part.

Memorization by longloaf 2013-08-26T07:41:00

I really enjoyed the shapes and the faces and the combinations of shapes and faces. I was annoyed that I had to wait ten seconds to see if I had remembered correctly. Possibly a bonus for deciding quickly, and the bonus could be: you can skip the countdown? I really like the rectangle.

DeepField by loolpolo 2013-08-26T08:12:00

I really enjoy the music along with the feelings of helplessness and the terror of being torn apart by red things. Keep going!

Tunnel Vision by Sink 2013-08-26T21:55:00

Oh! I very enjoyed helping the lightbulb achieve its goals. Very cute graphics and nice music to score a fraught but contemplative journey. Disliked the spike segments; took a break after the second savepoint (after spikes were introduced; the one with moving platforms). Could really do with floppy disks on each of the spike screens; since spikes can only be discovered when in really close proximity, encountering them on moving platforms feels (to me) unfair.

Bug: if the player does nothing after falling, they will be unable to restart, as the restart button seems to require a savepoint to have been activated.

Looking For Eternity by LittleThor 2013-08-26T21:45:00

Beautiful. Clean, cold shapes communicate Cosmic Importance! Good choice to make the moves Discrete rather than Continuous, with the necessary weirdness of isometric controls.

In10's by Wireless 2013-08-26T17:46:00

CUUUUUUTE. I love the little head-bob. Sounds are satisfying. Music is fun to listen to. GEMS. I really wanted a little more hangtime on the jump; it's easy to miss because it's so linear. It's serviceable but doesn't feel great.

I completed four or so levels. Mostly enjoyed this very much.

Proletarian Ninja X by deepnight 2013-08-26T22:39:00

This is really satisfying, lots of juice. Would be stronger without the exposition at the beginning. The title says it all; additional explanation feels heavyhanded.

Inspector Hector by wademcgillis 2013-08-27T06:19:00

Delightful, particularly the last clue. Inspector well-drawn in all forms.

If you're having trouble getting past SOFT KITTY try using your 10 SECONDS.

Barricade by AdamHarte 2013-08-27T16:56:00

Really liked the confined feeling of the rooms. Would have enjoyed some kind of hard to use shot (like a "hold to charge" area-of-effect blast? melee? something) that left you vulnerable for a bit? And then many many more enemies. As it is I can just button-mash my way to victory and it doesn't feel as dangerous as I want it to be.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

our god lives underground by Andrew Shouldice 2014-04-28T04:18:00

Beautiful. Succinct abyss experience. So many fun little touches (the skittering animals..!) Humble ritual embedded in impossibly huge structures.

Hot Diggity by DragonXVI 2014-05-02T04:27:00

Where is the maw that keeps destroying me? I want to gaze upon my demise. I got some golds, and I enjoyed the gold that I received.

Kinetectonic by headchant 2014-05-02T06:01:00

Very concussive Fight Sound, I enjoyed my Diamond Explosion greatly. Raising columns, I felt Mighty.

Thurgood P. Marshall and the Quest for Ontological Theory Advancement by CherryCupid 2014-04-28T23:00:00

Beautiful sprites! The incineration effect was lovely. I found the cuteness of the tormentors to be a little dissonant? Maybe this is intentional.

Switcher by ehtd 2014-05-02T05:04:00

An ocean of angry limbs and jaunty knees, it was a grand feeling swinging my Huge Arms and justifying my pursuit.

PCB Racer by ezolotko 2014-05-02T05:44:00

Loved racing this brutal circuit while catchy song crumpled itself up in my ear.

PORTHOLE by Ragzouken 2014-05-01T18:29:00

LOVE THIS. Expressive creature animations, beautiful effects (especially the distortion as layers move past the portal, and the pulsing gateways), colors colors colors. Sound is haunting, keening brilliance; the gong communicates "underwater" so simply, the tone of your quarry is deliciously unnerving. Ending is marvelous; well done.

Under a Martial Artist's Skin by jujule 2014-05-02T14:32:00

The Concentration Zoom and Slow Down Feeling was very strong once I finally figured out how to focus my power. I damaged an organ! Because I am a king. For a long time, I thought the game was berating me for being Bad At Rhythm, saying "FOCUS", as in, "YOU NEED TO FOCUS BECAUSE YOU ARE BAD".

Watch Your Step by nka 2014-05-02T05:52:00

Really enjoyed Creep Moon and other Graphical Friends. Spiders! Spiders are so good, making sound, emerging, scuttling. Throwing ore is a good feeling. Ten minutes is a long time.

Catt Digga Demo by magicdweedoo 2014-04-29T04:28:00

Glorious, the many trial of Cat and thinking about Not Quite Successful Cat and also Impatient Cat all the time thanks to Cat Remnants. All of my favorite friends: bug, ankh, colors.

Gorilla 2100 by leparlon 2014-04-29T05:29:00

The underwater friction is hilarious, grand banana fun. Computer killed itself with errant banana and I laughed all night.

Escape From Guardian (Fixed link!) by Pheonise 2014-05-01T15:53:00

Uneasy feelings knowing that Terrors await under the sand; quiet, plenty of time to anticipate Eating. Nice! Sand sound effect works; wish it changed to Rock sound effect when walking on rock. Crumbling rock sound when worm attacks seems incongruous? A whooshing roar with lots of falling sand would be better. Crossed first waste, entered first temple (are there more? Nothing happened once inside), stopped.

Vertico by UltimateWalrus 2014-04-29T05:07:00

Fantastic; everything feels super chunky and solid. The atmosphere is lovely, and the instrument choice / melodies for the music remind me of some of my favorite Marble Madness tracks. I wish I didn't have to worry about energy but I accept it. I really like this.

Surface Dwellers and Pit People by Joseph Miller 2014-04-28T03:51:00

This is cute! I wish it wasn't so easy to score points; after I raised the center bars to make a mountain, I just had to sit back and wait for the people to spawn and I didn't really have to raise or lower the side bars very often.

Beachcomber by Mase 2014-05-02T06:09:00

I danced along with Beachcomber, together we danced, enjoying the activities we had undertaken and thinking about them all. Dancing together, holding each step in my hand next to the Coin that paid for it, dancing, falling in between Sand Plants and listening to the waves.

Kalahari Babysitter by TijmenTio 2014-05-02T05:40:00

Hitting a double perfect W O W adore this.

Gubble Quest by Somfunambulist 2014-04-28T03:57:00

Aw, it installs fine and starts, but clicking "start" doesn't do anything.

The Roots Of Evil by JaviCepa 2014-05-02T05:47:00

Plant Song, the doom, song of plants, the song. I listened to the song and I was led into the maw of evil and clacked my clippers futilely all the way down, good song.

Mr Snails Fun Day Out by SenorDiablo 2014-05-02T04:50:00

This was a very sweet game and lovingly animated and musicked. I licked everything and I liked everything and I learned some Facts.

Kappa cat by cinnamonmelonpig 2014-05-02T05:02:00

Kappa Catkapkappa CAT kappa cat kap kap cat cat CAT, cat CAT kappa CAT RAINBOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I LOVE the song and the rainbow, feelings I wanted to last forever. I got 1964.

Substratum by Ian MacLarty 2014-04-28T04:55:00

Lovely. Enjoyed figuring out the different color rules. Nice spacey audio and acid wash colors.

Hostile Planet by rezoner 2014-05-02T04:46:00

Delightful synth pump, the jaunty spaceperson with their dreadful Blood Face. Pushing spiders to Spider Deaths felt like a hero! I enjoyed Very Much the gentle picture that was my Victory Reward.

Beautiful Game Thing.

Close Your Eyes by AestheticGamer 2014-04-28T04:04:00

Says "RPGVXAce RTP is required to run this game." :(

Rosa Neurosa by Wertle 2014-04-29T04:50:00

The text boxes after you find memories are so great! I wasn't quite sure what to do with the lightbulbs; I could tell they were Enemies, but they were trivial to avoid once I was underground. I wish the drill was many many times faster, it would have been great to just blast through the bear's mind.

Hero Arcade Edition by Hyoga-3D 2014-05-02T04:40:00

Nice slippery gun sound and Big Beef explosion. Insect corpses! I wanted to kill the subterranean thing. But I didn't. Camera jerking made it hard change shooting direction.

Bellow by RedPanda 2014-05-02T05:56:00

Cheerful mystery from the music. I enjoyed Scary Silhouettes.

DIVE by Lars Faust 2014-05-02T04:57:00

Gorgeous water and enveloping Water Sound made these delightful bath experiences. Tiny friendly submarine that I want to hang out with.

There's Something Beneath the Surface at Coral Cave by BoaHeck_ArtGent 2014-05-01T21:28:00

Pleasant float-y times, I enjoyed swimming with my limbs. I wanted to swim forever and never return to the boat. I liked holding the mouse button to tread water and redirect, it was a nice solution to my relentless propulsion.

Balancitos by NickZangus 2014-04-29T05:15:00

So adorable! The distress of my townspeople was maybe too adorable. "Oh dear!" I would say. "You've fallen in the water again!" "Your neighbor is floating next to you!" I click reset. I immediately pitch everyone into the water. Keyboard controls would be nice.

Come Home by cwkx 2014-05-02T05:35:00

Beautiful dithers all over the place, quite a gentle, somber tone with the art. Bravo taking a risk on a walking-around-game.

Beneath by AGDG_REJECT 2014-05-01T18:46:00

Enjoyed pulsating color maze. Scritchy scratchy, looks good. Why free movement? Grid based with a lerp would feel better, have less bouncing around.

Epilepsy by tchem 2014-04-29T05:34:00

Gentle plants in the best pink, forests of waving friends. Nice company even as I wished I could walk through them. Gorgeous screen-rending attacks. Wish my glowing protector was a bit bigger, but don't we all.

Ant Vision by frickajr 2014-05-01T23:02:00

Enjoyed looking for food as ant, used background knowledge of Ant Desire to seek the exits. Great scale. Wish leaving pheromones was more immediate, felt like clicking / pressing control did nothing a lot of the time. Skittery-clicky sound would be lovely.

Landmine Wars by BruceDoh 2014-05-01T18:32:00

When I clicked practice it said "waiting for opponent?" I was playing the web version. Am I the only one who has had this problem?

StrataGEM by ActionRemix 2014-04-29T05:00:00

This was very soothing to play. Beautiful shape orb. I am terrible at this.

Deep Calls To Deep by Romko Pidstryhach 2014-05-02T05:27:00

Haunting plunge into ghost jellies. Lovely colors and sad feelings.

Beneath Colossal by Liens 2014-05-02T04:22:00

I swing my wiggly arms and swing and swing until a sword appears, and then I crush everything with my big sword arms. This is videogames. My feet ring with triumph on the aluminum floor. Swing swing swing swing.

Go by mimiga 2014-05-01T15:45:00

Beautiful background and music. I stopped at the "compliments yellow" level; I thought I had to make purple somehow, but pushing the blue and red blocks together didn't result in a purple block. Collision detection was a bit finicky; would have preferred grid movement for precision. Overall quite enjoyable, sad little puzzle times.

29 Leagues by Nition 2014-04-28T04:46:00

I enjoyed this! The first segment is definitely my favorite; collisions felt fair, the speed was quite exhilarating, and the rock formations look great. The tunnel bit was hard; difficult to feel the edges of my craft, I started hitting walls a lot once the speed increased.

MORTON by wademcgillis 2014-05-03T23:49:00

Delightfully spare. Dead Things placement very effective. Favorite rooms: Gate, Stress Test, Void, Library, Desecrated Dead. Void sounds were amazing, everything else cute on wry.

NYC by Secret_Tunnel 2014-05-01T19:52:00

Aha! The bat death made me laugh, a real laugh, drawn sharply like the plunger of a syringe that almost escapes the barrel. The trumpet player is sublime. The receding rain satisfying and pleasant. I wished for footstep sound, and the gun sounded small compared to the terrifying Rat. Minor quibbles. The BEAST, I did not know how to pass. Lovely mood, stark noirish sadness and doom.

Feelin N Dealin by mclewis 2014-04-29T04:57:00

I enjoyed the drone song and the sweet promise of the streets above, but I was stymied by the Super Fast Police after I ran out of smoke bombs. I tried hitting the Police with a pipe but this ended in Jail. I wish I always had a pipe. I like how there are different items to use to circumvent different situations. However I despaired of ever owning tv or bikini poster.

Beneath The Surface by adamwoolridge 2014-04-29T05:39:00

Very satisfying sphere destruction. I thought many times as I burned the inner sphere, why did I swallow this thing. Triumph, elation as I burned my inner orbs.

Swashbuckler Patrol by Lolninjacatz 2014-04-28T04:01:00

Cute bouncy boat. I enjoyed being a submarine. Extremely buoyant. A wish for Seagull or other Boat Friend.

MechSpider by Sebastião 2014-05-01T23:09:00

Music is a pleasant arpeggio cavern to crawl inside of, but footsteps are very clangy. Control was difficult. Spider legs look very nice.

Hold On To Your Nuts by PartyBoat 2014-04-28T05:04:00

SO MANY SNAKES. I like the snakes. Very enjoy the loud sound and abrupt ending. I got two peanuts. And then snake.

WHAT IS IN THE SWAMP? (IT'S MONSTERS) by tacs 2014-05-02T04:13:00

Amazing universe inside of pockets of wet jeans left alone in the washer for a few days. Very loud in the way of an injury that you are checking to see if it is still there, satisfying to feel Terrible Sound entreat you to Don't Do That. Death in swamp was best. Green static men surprised me once and I wish it happened more often. Aiming felt WONDERFUL.

Blunderer by Jacob Peltola 2014-04-29T05:26:00

I love this, I get a score of one and I am happy to spin forever. Nailed the music.

Beneath the Surface by Blueberry Soft 2014-05-01T19:59:00

I stomped around and climbed mountains and waved my mouth at the surface. I looked for food but there was none. I settled back into my dreamless sleep and exhaled exhaled exhaaaaled.

DRAANG by Magdev 2014-04-29T04:39:00

Quintessential Videogame food conversation, always in combat with Food Feeling and graceful Food Mode!!! Tremendous!!! Time vanishes inside of Food that you eat a hallway through all time, many doors branching off into different Food Experience, I had them all, resplendent

Laser Match by mokesmoe 2014-05-01T21:23:00

Enjoy laser chaos! Most fun in laser cascade for unpredictable laser, but deaths don't always feel avoidable. Wish for temporary invulnerability while matching, which would add tactics to Match Action (maybe you would save matches?)

Sound desire.

BULLA by moonmagic 2014-04-28T05:26:00

Thanks y'all. Ideally this game would use QPAL, but it can't because of keyboard conflicts :/ I'll put gamepad support into a post-compo build.

BULLA by moonmagic 2014-05-02T11:30:00

Hey, thanks for playing everyone! To those that were stuck: you're supposed to squeeze the boil that is squiggling around and running away from you. I'll add some arrows that point it out in the next build.

Toxic Below by dertom 2014-05-01T20:11:00

Toxic lunar lander dreams! I swoop my eggshell craft around and slorp the goo. I found the first goo the nicest: I fell precipitously into further goo and did not get to Elephant for nearly long enough. Wishing that my deaths were catastrophic and not so brusque.

Ascent by sstrandberg 2014-05-02T04:15:00

KSHHHHhhhhhaaaaaaaa during the first banked turn through gateways is a tremendous feeling, sound in ears when Success Jump is exhilarating Dream Feeling. Played for too long.

Cave Harrier by madjackmcmad 2014-04-28T04:31:00

Love Space Harrier! Very impressive entry. Found myself wishing for a faster rate of fire and less sensitive controls. Also, I could still fire after death, which allowed me to kill bosses pretty easily.

Room Cleaning Simulator 2014 by lokijki 2014-05-02T05:11:00

COOKIES my perseverance has a REWARD!

Could play this forever if more garbage fell on me A+ trash game.

Growing Weird Plants by aeveis 2014-04-28T05:00:00

I grew some plants. I liked the sounds. When my weird blob self grabbed things and moved quickly I liked it a lot, but often it felt a little juddery and uneven. If it was smoother and maybe sticky I think it would be Quite Nice.
