Gun assembly is a great touch. Kudos to you for working hard through the flu and getting the game in on time.

Gun assembly is a great touch. Kudos to you for working hard through the flu and getting the game in on time.
I'm not sure what's going on. When I go downstairs, a spikey shadowball shows up, does a sort of knockup/juggle which sends me through the roof, then I fall through the world. I played a second time, he still bounces me everywhere but I didn't fall through the world.
This is excellent! Great use of the theme too-- having to go pick up your cannonball as a knight was pretty funny. The boomerang was my favorite weapon, all in all very fun.
Controls were tough, it's true. The game was super charming though. Smart work on the graphics-- color and detail where it matters, easy to read monochrome for everything else. Fun game.
I selected a lady as Romeo and got this! Clearly your code can't handle a modern perspective on gender an-- lol only kidding. I tried to repro it and I couldn't, I might have been holding down the right arrow as I pressed space.

Looks and sounds great. Easy to try, fail, and try again, and it feels awesome to get it right. Good show!
Awesome work! Found myself laughing at the ladybird when she couldn't deal with an extra stick, come on lady look at the nest, you know we're gonna need it anyway.
Very clever!
Outstanding! Awesome take on the theme. Easy to play, humorous, very fun. Great job.
Do you think you could set up a dropbox or google drive account? Whatever download page you're using is trying to install stuff on my machine.
Really tough to make even the slightest progress! Good work getting the game done for the deadline. I wish I could get further.
Solid work!
@tiffi That was a debug feature left in the game. Harmless though, and hey if someone is really enjoying the game they can have some extra fun with it.
I enjoyed this game but I don't think I'm really any good at it, I keep drowning. Will you offer life vests as IAP?
A fine adventure! I played through the mech pilot version, I should try the other one and look for parallels.
Pretty cool! The "press Q and E" instructions were off the bottom of my screen the first time I played, all I could do was click blocks and make them go away! Once I figured it out I had fun.
So jealous of you artist types! Fun game, great style, and yeah limbs falling off rules. Good show.
Simple and fun, and enjoyable even without the interface.
Your dropbox link isn't working right now, maybe there's something amiss?
Outstanding presentation, looks and sounds terrific. Fast action feels pretty good. Great work.
Fun! I enjoy saying "glod" out loud.
Great first effort. Hope you enjoyed working on it, don't stop making games!
Great, simple concept. Controls slightly wonky but still workable. Pretty, and nice music too. Good job!
Simple and fun! I like Elevator Action so I got a kick out of this. Controls are a touch wobbly, as mentioned, but not a dealbreaker.
Pretty cool concept! It was fun to multiply and start chewing up more flesh.
Great job with the multi-level parallax, works wonders for underground locales.
Awesome presentation, looks and sounds great. Kudos.
Oh lordy it's like a nightmare (NiGHTSmare?) version of those Sonic bonus levels :D Right down to the familiar but somehow wrong wrong wrong music. Enjoyable, good work!
I love River Raid! Very cool idea here. I wasn't able to fire my weapon though, tried all the ctrl keys I have. Everything else worked!
I've always liked spread weapons. I felt like I was machinegunning lemons out of my eyes! Good work.
Cool voices, pretty tanks, completely goofball weapons. Lots of quick fun, thank you for this!
Super slow movement and complete confusion. I crawled to a button and pushed it and it said "You died, no surprise :)"
Pew pew pew pew pew peww yessssssssssss I love shooting things. Good show. In the end I had enough spread where I could just hold down the button and stay in the middle of the map, but it was still very fun.
Forward and backward movement was stunted, but otherwise felt good. Clean presentation, giraffe-impact felt right. Did you really make all those sounds yourself? ;)
Killer idea, and really cool art style. Music is certainly creepy and loopy. Great work!
Great audio and presentation. Jam/smoke filling everything was superb. Nice job.
Sprites aren't bad. Shooting didn't work, I could run and jump but none of the keys or clicking let me fire.
Dark stuff. I like the idea of re-writing someone's story with branching points, but you're right that the writing itself has to be really solid if it's going to be entertaining. I bet you could make it shine if you put some more time into it! Keep it up.
I'm a fan of alien worlds with strange monoliths, even if they're just big white planks :D good work!
Cool concept. Felt a little floaty and everything seemed small, but it's a great core to build off of. I wasn't quite clear on why I needed to press E, it didn't seem like my weapons were becoming less useful.
Didn't really feel like there was much to do here, and the controls were awkward, but don't sweat it. It takes hard work to put something together in 48 hours. Keep at it, you'll get better every time!
Looks and sounds great, fine work!
Great job with the hat. Controls felt a touch floaty, but otherwise solid. Could have maybe gone with half the screen size and character's twice as big, would have felt a little more engaging. Maybe. Great work, fun game!
This is excellent. Two game songs and a title loop! Lots of killer work here, good show.
I was able to kill some zombies by clicking on them a bunch, I think.
Excellent sound, cool atmosphere. Neat idea!
Had to play five times before I found a minion, I wish I could start with some! Not sure why the ball is randomly shouting punchlines :D
Simple but cool. Gravity felt good. I felt betrayed by my own moon when it hurt me :D I'd love to crack open other planets in single player.
Nice little pinball game here. TTS was a nice touch. Wasn't sure what to do when I lit up NUKE though.
Got the farts, shoes, candy, and fork missiles before I some how knocked myself in to the water. 10 Faces spit in out of 10, would derp around in circles again.
This could have been an Orisinal game, in some alternate universe. Remember him? Good work-- I do wish it ramped up a little faster, but it looks and sounds great.
Amazing. Truly brings the grim reality of that dark time in human history to life. Also I like it when all the mens fall out of the horse and die.
Interesting idea and cool presentation.
@MrDave: Wreckbeard is the "Un-Convention Hall Weapon". A miserable pun for a miserable theme! :D
Looks and plays great, simple and clean idea. Well done.
Murder Chain Reaction over and over again!
Great work! Fine take on the theme too. I was a little unsure of how to keep my score up for a while, since balloons are worth 10 but leaving is -25, but I started to try and wait for kids with 1 balloon left were almost off the road, to prevent them from crying on screen. Did that help me any?
If you're alive then there's still a chance for you to get what you want.
Really hard to move, and the first time I played I couldn't figure out where I was when things started. Cool idea though, keep it up!
Music! Good stuff here, if a bit simple. One of the guys kited me all over the damn dungeon and still got away with the treasure, 10/10 for true adventure realism. Fine work.
Solid work! I can always get behind a dungeon crawler. Other people have told you this but you tried to do too much in 48 hours-- you should be super proud of this game because you accomplished a lot, but some of the esoteric features can be a little confusing because you didn't have polish time. That's really the only mark on this. You did well!
Pretty slick game. Felt like Santa Claus after a while trying to visit every house in a single night. Audio was super intrusive, but that's Ludum Dare.
This was fun, I was able to just sing a jazz version of Control from the Mortal Kombat movie and guide nice boats along. When that shark rolled up and 1-hit-KO'd the boat I laughed out loud, I did not expect such instant defeat. What a fun project.
Cool art, and hooray for XNA even though it's long since been sunset.
Fun and super innovative. Great graphics, sound was tough to swallow. Only problem was that arrow keys wanted to scroll my web page up and down. Other than that I had big huge fun crushing humans.
Good effort! Keep on hitting these LDs, you're going to grow and grow as a developer. There wasn't quite much to do in this game, that I could tell, but I did scare a couple of people! With more experience you'll be able to do more, faster. Keep it up!
Dynamic music? Way to go! :) I think my ability to jump got capped somehow, I went really high one time and from then on no matter how deep I dove, I could only get one fish-height out of the water.
@Laralyn: I've seen some scrolling shooters that use that mechanic and they always leave me aghast. Who makes a shmup that doesn't let you shoot all the time? Probably the same type of people who use the word "gamefeel" :) Typical the skill test isn't conserving ammo but rather something else, usually weaving through bullet streams or trying to keep focused on a particular enemy weak point. Here, I wanted the main skill test to be jumping -- over pits and combo jumping on buildings. There is a secondary consideration of not shooting briefly to ensure that your next shot is an alpha strike from all your monsterbros, but that's only useful in the beginning when you have a small party.
I was able to clip through everything, and nothing made a lot of sense. Maybe the monster was inside me the whole time?
I can't get the Windows version to run. Try zipping the data and exe together before you upload them to dropbox maybe? The data folder may be corrupt.
Quick play, fun, polished, challenging and super cute! Try saying all the dino yellow text in your best tiny tryhard dinosaur voice. Great show!
Neat! Polish this idea up and carry it further. I was wondering how to get more spell points, it sort of held me back.
Quite a lot of effort here! Good show.
Excellent control. Power mechanic confused me as the tornado got bigger. Really well put together, an inspired Katamari style game. Good show.
The long hallway with a dead end probably made you laugh really hard but it will make every one of your players wish they were playing something else.
Never let carrots get in the way of your dreams.
Is there a goal amount of resources to gather? A time limit? Is there any disadvantage to having all peons just hit the nearest tree?
Clever idea! Took me a second to realize that you could stack up the soul count by revisiting junctions. Worth playing a second time to top high score.
Please don't make the music reset every time you die.
Catchy music, bright and colorful too!
The beeping! augh the beeping :D Otherwise a competent and visually solid Snake clone, great work!
Every time I play this is all I can create:
http://i.imgur.com/M7odOpL.png
I press down once, a line extends to the south east. I press up once, a yellow square appears. Nothing else happens regardless of input.
Game of life, right? Cool. Should have accepted votes for audio, the music was good too.
Clever! I'm not sure what the turtles do. I like the idea of trying to over feed an enemy shark :)
Pew pew pew! Good show.
Neat take on Harvest Moon! You did the right thing with this bright and clear art style.
Whyyyyyy did I spend so long playing this!? Because it was super fun :) Good job.
Great presentation. Also, any game about killing bees is the best.
Nice job with the music.
The link takes me to a dropbox page with a french pdf file.
Beautiful homage to OoTW. Nailed the simple style too. And I love the heroic concept that even us folks with a little too much belly can still slay dragons.
There's something really funny about this, where the cops keep asking questions forever until you finally snap :D
I liked it. Did you do something data driven for all the questions or did things just link together in code? I wouldn't blame you for the latter, 48 hours is not enough time for any of this! Great work, be proud.
Not bad! Wish there were more turrets, it's fun to set those up and try to cover all the angles. Good work this weekend!
Great concept, simple and fun. The bouncy/scaley animations are a top notch idea.
I believe you forgot to upload the Data folder alongside the EXE. When you built the game you should have seen two results, and exe and a folder. Both need to uploaded to play. The web build doesn't run either. Good luck!
This is a pretty neat take on old Qix type games. It was a little difficult to understand where I could build webs, and why the spiders sometimes just stopped making webs, but it's certainly a cool project and work you should be proud of.
Neat idea! It's fun to line up long shots against two or three enemies at a time and tag them with the laser. Solid work this weekend.
Great work, pretty art and very funny. The face art is terrific, and yet you complain that chairs are hard to draw :D that had me laughing. Great work this weekend.
I did all I could! I put a battery in one of the robots, he told me it was rounded, my phone said that the robot might be a liar -- I looked out the window and figured I might be in house 55 and the neighbor in 53. I managed to turn the lights on and off. Annnnd, that's it! I wish I could have done better.
Good work. I'm glad that I was able to shoot enemy bullets too, that felt nice. I felt a little confused as to the danger of the falling pieces, at first I thought I could be crushed, or use them to crush my enemies, but neither of those seemed true and the baddies could just shoot through them. Still, solid stuff, good job this weekend.
"Jump! Double jump!" :D :D 5-star audio 2016! Good work.
Good effort for 48 hours! A little bit of sound effects would go a long way, have you looked into SFXR? It will help make your next entry even better. Keep it up!
It was smart of you to let the player just respawn when they die or fall off the letters. Keeps people going and doesn't give them an excuse to stop. I'm really confused by the second level, are the enemies invisible? It was a little tough to get my head around. Regardless, good show, keep on makin' cool stuff!
This is a clever idea! I like the idea of having to build on the fly, unfortunately the stacking mechanic meant lots of pieces would just get tossed to the side to serve as filler to build more steps on. I kept wishing for a way to lock pieces in to the side, so that they'd stick to a tile and stop falling. But that would defeat the tetris idea ;) This is a cool game, good work.
@Alex thank you very much! Once you get to placing multiple Doom of Mens (Dooms of Menses?) the game is basically over, the heroes can't compete, the physics can't keep up, and the fun checks out for the evening. Still, I'm glad you had a good time!
Ran the jar file and the game worked fine here. Not bad! The early waves are tough to get through, the first requires you to hold space for 20 seconds or so, the next requires you to put a clock in front of a window and wait for 30 seconds with nothing to do. Maybe those could be faster tutorial levels? Still, good work!
This was fun! I had a good time with it. I got stuck on a room here:
http://i.imgur.com/l3LzRKL.png
I was able to color every tile blue and remove the object at the top, but that didn't do it, and the lasers shot me dead. Is this the kill screen level?
Regardless, this is good work and you should be proud.
You made a slick looking level with some music that really fit. That's impressive for the weekend, even if the game itself is a little simplistic. A pickup noise for the specimens would go a long way! I hope this *does* reinvigorate your passion for game making because there's a lot of style and flavor here that shows you have a wellspring of creativity. Keep at it!
I'll admit, I almost rated low and left because I couldn't make anything happen in the room. I tried again after reading all the comments and then started guessing at keys until I saw that space bar changed the ? over your head into text. From there I played up until the Shadow room, but it's too early in the morning to memorize patterns through trial and error :D I was never good at Battletoads.
Aliens have consumed humanity! Alas. Great work this weekend. The sprites were cute and sound effects flavorful. Well done!
I got out by getting the numbers and putting them into the lock in random order until it worked. Is there a clue I'm missing? I tried looking at the four plates of muffins for four numbers.
Not sure what the NSFW warning was all about. Not a bad entry, too bad you only but 16 hours in on it. Also space bar to restart level is cruel :D
What a clever puzzle idea! I really enjoyed this. It's a shame you didn't get more time to put in more interesting pieces, but you certainly did a lot in a short amount of time. Great work.
Nice work! Something about the jump physics was super jank, but in the context of being a bubble while avoiding pollen and bird poop, it all made sense. I enjoyed playing it! Good work and please keep it up.
Looks and sounds great, simple and clean, one of the best presented games thus far! I liked how mechanics were introduced slowly, and everything made sense. I stopped when it go to where I felt like I had to go digging the dark and guessing at which way to move, also the right mouse to spin the window was crazy sensitive and the world whirled about quite often. Great work, keep it up!
Crazy huge goal you set for yourself over the time period. What you managed to do, including packing it all up nice and providing tutorials, is no mean feat.
Connecting lines to make damage / shield events was confusing at first, but I picked up on it after the first battle. The tutorial did a pretty good job but if you had more time you would have been able to highlight features more cleanly perhaps.
You can tell a ton of work went into this, I hope you are proud! Great stuff and keep it up.
This was cute and fun! I enjoyed discovering foods hidden through the house, and laughed when I got too big to fit under the bed. Just like real life. It actually happened to me. But instead of rabbit food it was two liter bottles of Surge. That is how I broke a scale to open the door. Didn't actually break a scale, but I broke a door.
Fun, thank you for making this, and please do keep it up -- see you next Dare!
Fun game with pleasant sound effects, music, and solid controls. Moving around *behind* the objects to bring them in is a pro strat that helps you build up the hive faster. Enjoyed the back and forth cycle, of course would like to see more content but for 48 hours this is excellent work. Please keep it up, and don't make games about bees <3
This was excellent! I loved dashing around for the stylin' melee kills, I love how the whole space jail is bumpin' constantly with sound and light, and hell sure let's dubstep it up for the bosses. High energy, great weapons, smooth control. I had a blast and so did the viewers on my strim. Thank you!
I loved killing stuff in that robosuit, felt like Rampage all over again. Great stuff. What I really thought was impressive was how you conveyed a feeling of wrecking lots of buildings with very little in the way of flashy FX or extra art. Good sound, stuff tumbling down with the proper speed, it all felt like a collapsing city. Great stuff.
I played until I had enough, it seems like nothing changes after level 2 or 3 except for numbers, but I had a great time grenadoing down all the suckers who did not have robot suits like me.
I ended up running out of ammo trying to shoot the debris of the space shuttle. So the game stuck.
I commend you for working even with a limited time frame and not giving up. That's how winning is done. The rotating earth via sprite mask was very clever! Keep it up.
This game rocks, you should have 1000x more people playing it. Super innovative, even though most of the elements are drawn from platformer basics, having them shuffle like you did is really smart. Meta progression between deaths kept me playing, music was awesome, graphics were great, you did a hell of a job. Good show.
Neat idea! Cool evolution on the Clicker concept, reminded me of some fun BBS games from back in '86. As other people have said, it's a flat in its current form, but I bet you worked your tail off over the 48 hours and you should be proud. If you had fun making it and want to continue, you can probably take it a lot further! Keep it up.
Probably the best audio in a Compo game so far! Very clever world mechanics, control felt great even in a small arena full of endless pits and bouncing slimes, I never felt cheated. Great great great!
This is neat! I could spend a lot of time here messing around. Good work for 48 hours. Played about 15 minutes or so but had to push on because I'm streaming these games -- though a pro shader programmer would have cleared it in 10 minutes :)
Good job, keep it up!
@stuntddude oh crap, thanks for the heads up.
@antti-haavikko @stuntddude I changed the OSX link to just point to the itch.io page for now, sorry for the inconvenience.

Started off with a really cool idea, the seeds making you shrink, I was looking forward to lots of puzzles involving that! But then it never happened, and instead turned in to I Wanna Be The Guy, which is totally fine. I loved the arm animations on the hero, he looks like he'll never a bad day in his whole life, even if he gets eaten by chompyplants.
I wish I was better at finding stuff! You should start the game with a lasso, so you can wrap up those squirrelly NPCs and hold them in place, forcing them to tell you their problems. Yes, person in blue robes, I will find your incantations, if you just. hold. still.
Good work! I love overworlds with pretty symbols for fun environments. I could play in maps all day.
A fine little Dominion-like! Solid work. Having the "but draw less cards next turn" mechanic is something that is harder to do with actual cards but easier to do with a computer handling the rules. Good times. You could take this a million places, with some solid art and a rules pass it would be even radder, too bad card games don't sell on Steam like they used to. Still, good work!
Great concept, and while yeah it isn't finish it still feels solid and the progression of events makes sense. The only part that made me really frown was when I had to keep relighting everything, that was no fun. Otherwise it was a solid experience. I'd love to see more! Keep it up.
I want to buy Super Bad Roar now, I hear it's about Scarafins and you are a pig who shoots bats at a baseball demon. I don't know why but I really wanna buy this game.
Also plz buy my game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/288120/Dungeonmans/
Thanks for putting this together! The sprites were solid, that dog looked boss -- a quote from someone watching me play on stream :) I died to Harper, it didn't seem like I had any choices along the way. Must attack every rat, no other options, no way to avoid the encounter, and I couldn't pick up the rat meat. Doggo did a good job while I was alive. I hope Harper treats him well.
This was a blast! Ended up with Clubs everywhere and made BANK. Near the end, "No undefined available" kept spamming the log, maybe that was because I filled every tile and people couldn't hike? Not sure. Great work, I love this type of game and you made a solid one.
Couldn't really figure out how to do much besides r-click for bombs and space to clear screen. Upgrading towers had no visual effect, and I couldn't tell if there was a gameplay effect either. Never made enough money to upgrade anything else. I will try again later! Good luck and thank you for working on this.
1200 pts, where's the leaderboards? :D
Cute game! Sneaking up behind stuff reminds me of my TF2 spy days. Those are good feels. I enjoyed playing the game.
I said to my streamviewers I would write you a STERNLY WORDED LETTER about having X be the action button when WASD moves you around:
Dear Sir and/or Madam,
We live in a civilization. We have rules. Please do not use X for action when WASD is the movement method.
Signed,
Stern.
edit: The fact that you said
ANYWAYS USE ARROW KEYS TO MOVE
X TO HACK
is irrelevant! I think.
Good work! Blowing stuff up from a bigass boat is a time tested gaming joy. I will echo what others said in that the weapons really lack punch. When you're traveling forward, the bullets don't go any faster, which makes it seem like you're just peeing into the water ahead rather than firing at full steam. If you really like making this type of game, there's all sorts of tricks and techniques you'll learn when it comes to making moving and shooting feel excellent in the player's hands. This game is a good sign that you will continue to do well if you choose to do so. Keep it up!
This was a pleasant and funny adventure. The piano music was good and worked out well. I liked that ship control jumped from Space to S very quickly, meaning you didn't have to overshoot everything or rely on crazy space brakes. It made a more enjoyable control setup. Good work, please keep it up.
Fine work! Some of the best and cleanest graphics I've seen thus far, you should be proud. I wasn't able to do much more than build arrows, kill deer, and ruin trees :D The first time I died, it was because Health ran out, even though I had plenty of food and water. It seems like the "health" meter is "how long has it been since you filled a living creature with sharp arrows and then ate the raw meat", which is something we all have to worry about every day.
This is a cool game, and I enjoyed it. Please keep it up!
Fun to scoot around this cute little planet and shoot things all over the place. I enjoyed seeing details like cactii in the desert. If you're having control problems, I feel bad for you son, but also make sure you don't have a PS4 controller plugged in because that will send the camera directly up its own butt pipe. Be warned.
Cool game, please keep it up.
I made it to wave 22 and my fingers fell off you owe me fingers
this is a good game.
I enjoyed this game so much that I rubber banded a sword to my head and crawled around outside. I'm posting this from jail.
Ok, so, you should know that this game does play *exceptionally* well alongside Crockett's Theme, and it also works to Will Smiths' MiB theme. Especially the part where he goes "slide with me, just slide with me" and your mans in black is sliding along the ground.
I can feel the tremendous love and huge desire to bring something to life here in the game. Every developer I know who genuinely cares about games has had a moment similar to this one, where they say "Ok ok sure there's no anims and the walls aren't actually real and the shooting is just a yellow DebugDraw but if you play it and squint your eyes and listen to Crockett's Theme it TOTALLY WORKS!"
Yes. This is a true thing. I'm glad I played this, I'm glad you made it. Keep pushing and training and making cool stuff, your next LD game will shine even brighter. As a South Florida boy at heart, I will always upvote Miami Vice.
Great job! Towers and environment all look nice. When I got to Wave 10, not only was the boss hella high HP but the wave and gold counters just started flying up, forever. And ever. That was weird. But good show otherwise, tower defenses are a joy, you should make more!
This is a good game. However you pronounced Ludum Dare wrong in your video so I had to give you -6 stars in every category.
Actually I am really impressed with the clean presentation, it is pretty and runs smoothly and the sound effects are just right. Excellent work! Put this on a phone and make stupid huge amounts of money.
YES YES YES YES YES why is everyone not playing this game!??!
It's *excellent*, you did fine work here. This is a totally excellent homage to Super Stardust HD, the shrinking planet stuff is brilliant! Fun fun fun. I cranked up the soundtrack to Thunderforce III on the Genesis and played the game live on stream. I will play this again after Ludum Dare judging is over.
Your butt needs to add some leaderboards, check out dreamlo.com because they are free and excellent, it's the system I used to put leaderboards into my twin stick shooter entry! Let's be twinstick bros <3
What a fine little mini golf you got goin' on here. It was pleasant through and through! The music added to the experience, which isn't common with most LD entries :) I bet you had 100 more ideas for crazy planet behaviors, worm holes, aliens, etc, but you did good getting in quality mechanics that you polished up a little too. Excellent work, be proud.
Good job! I like it, it's very chill. Looks like you and I had very similar ideas for our games. Mine is also about blowing up asteroids and bringing little energons back to the planet to help it grow. Let's be Planetgrow Bros <3
ELEVATOR ACTION well ok we didn't squish any cops, but that would have been too bloody for LD jam, right?
Had a lot of fun, I think the idea of averting your gaze to not get arrested is hilarious and should work in real life. Also bodies should just vanish when they die, as if we were all Jedi. No muss no fuss.
Good work here, I hope you had fun making it, you should totally keep this up!
Why couldn't I eat the cheese :(
Mouse not smart enough to put food in mouth. Mouse starves in front of a pile of cheese. RIP mouse.
Nice work here, and a rather funny take on the state of the RPG. I got pretty far but the player got bored right when he had enough stats to almost kill the boss. If I would have included a romance option in one of the villages he would have stuck around to see how that played out. But then it would cost money for VO, and localizing it in other languages, hiding the blood in germany, and the nipples in the USA, and making games is an expensive and terrible idea, never do it.
Wow. First game? Well done, you should be really happy with this. Plenty of high points:
* Different mechanics for each planet that were interesting but not so mysterious as to be unsolvable. It all made sense, after interacting with a planet once or twice, an idea of What To Do sprung to mind naturally.
* Great use of music -- yeah, it did get a little old to hear the same theme over and over again, but using it during the space-warpy part around... Mars? Mercury? Was an *excellent* touch.
I sure hope you like making games because you should keep doing it. Looking forward to the game you make in the next Ludum Dare!
I survived one night, once, and came out with two bloodied mens and no resources. I felt like a god.
Keep making more of this!
Push buttons and fill your heart with things until it breaks and you die. This is the best life simulator on LD, bar none.
Looks like you had a really cool goal in mind, but just fell a little short. Maybe you ran out of time? Try and make sure the player has some idea of how to win, and how to lose. When the description said Dr. Mario, I thought that the goal was to put pieces of the same color together. But the game is just about carrying as large a burden as you can before you crack. Again, true to life.
Please don't ever use that noise for box moving again.
Very innovative! The tutorial didn't really make sense at first... or second... but I checked the page for rules and gave it a third try, and everything clicked! Swiping around to collect the dots was fun. This is one of the most creative puzzle style entries I've seen. Thanks for your hard work and keep it up!
There's a neat idea in here. The expanding map is interesting, and I always like when fun mathematical ideas get turned into gameplay. There's a lot of room for improvement, as I'm sure you're aware. There are a number of cool challenges you can set for yourself as you grow as a developer. For instance, the looping expanding path never really interfaces with your previous set up, meaning there's no evolving strategy for tower placement. I'm sure you thought of that too, but it would be neat to see what you could come up with as you massage that math into making cooler and cooler levels. Good luck and keep going!
Really cool game, and a neato concept. Lots of depth with just a few pieces! I enjoyed it, got hung up on "Two islands to go!" and stopped after a few tries, but that doesn't mean I didn't have fun. Would have liked a skip level button that popped up after a few fails, because it's great to see all of someone's cool LD work that they had to crank out in a short time. Great work!
Edit: I beat that level thanks to a viewer on my stream! :tada:
Edit 2: omg the last level. Aren't you clever <3 good job!
I applaud this early effort! @josh-vdb came by my dev stream and shared his game with me. It's small, and sure there isn't much "game" inside, but what we do have is 24 hours of effort from someone who is new to programming! There's a lot of heart here, and any of us who make games can run around in the little world he created and know what was in his head. I think with practice, leveling up, and more Ludum Dares will we see bigger and radder content in the future.
Alright cool! I got 4:10 and 21k points.
A+ control on the ball, very easy to move around with a great feeling of weight and motion without being ponderous. The tron trails behind the balls sealed the deal. This is excellent work.
On the one hand, you could argue that the game needs more to do, but I think what you produced is rather polished and fun, which isn't always easy given the time constraints of the compo.
Great work!
Excellent weapons, beautiful game. Was tough to really do much except spin the planet around and be a whirling space disco with lasers and foom everywhere, but it was magical. I want to look up your other games now!
Great work for 48 hours! Clean and attractive presentation, and you even went the extra mile to make the water shift back and forth. Wonderful music. Simple and effective interface! Enjoyable, and if you like what you've done and the engine you wrote I bet you could add all sorts of fun things to this game. Turn it into Supremacy!
@MrLeePerry Neither trigger worked? Good to know, I'll have to fix that up.
@pkenny v1.01 is live! Two big fixes, one the crazy rendering bug is fixed (probably :D ) and it should run at any resolution. Second is the dummy weapon getting stuck to your body on restart.
@pebkac Thank you! I'm not pleased with how keyboard firing turned out, I admit that it slipped through the cracks a bit. I don't think patching a control change really is in the spirit of "small bug fixes only", but I'd sure like for it to feel better and I wish I'd caught it sooner.
@sir-magic hahah holy crap, shadows and lighting? Do I look like a wizard from the moon? :D That's excellent feedback though, and thank you. My goal is to create content rich short-play arcadey stuff, but I keep trying to lift up the polish everywhere else. One day, when I'm less of a chicken, I'll try squeezing sprite lighting into the compo.
@mewsoul Thank you! I probably went too easy on the shake -- there's shake on the chaingun, and shake on rocket hits. I probably should have added shake to the dualies and trigun but I thought I was overdoing it.
I don't know why I didn't think about vibration, Rewired would handle that easily. Damn, I missed that one.
There should be a big "LUDUM DARE" banner at the top of the page next to a button that takes you here :-/ crap. I will add a link, thank you.
@logan lemme see what I can do -- not accepting a controller is an input bug and those I'm allowed to fix. I'll post again here if I can manage to fix it.
@saintheiser There's a bug in the way impulses are gathered that can kind of stick you in place if you bear-blast and then try to push against it. Blowing up a rocket in your own face will push you away pretty far, and if you try to run against that impulse you really get held up. It's bad physics, I apologize.
I grew up in a trailer park in the south so this speaks to me on a personal level. I must say though that everything in the south is NOT free, so 0/5 points for Socioeconomic Realism.
The shader was pretty and the game was visually interesting overall. Good show!
I'm here because I saw you ask about leaderboards, and I wanted to tell you what I did for mine but I figured I should also play and rate your game too :D
I use Dreamlo for mine, free as the wind and real simple too. Totally helps make LD games more fun.
Good work!
DURIFFFTTTOOOOOOOOO
100% Eurobeat worthy pinata drifting game.
I had fun, never quite made it to the leaderboard though. I only got to see the top five scores. What tech did you use?
One time a kid hit me against a corner of the map and sent me flying into pinata space. I fell off the map and plummeted into a candied abyss, my only wish being that those snotty brats would follow me into hell.
Excellent sprite work, those little birds are so fun and your hero is so expressive. Really cool concept too. Theme-shmeme, your game is neat!
Sound is tough, I would recommend chiptone http://sfbgames.com/chiptone/ even if just to get monster death noises and a jump sound in place, it goes a long way. But it's always a race against the clock.
You did great work here!
Simple and fun, impossible not to smile with all the goofy musical pirate action playing. Great work Lee!
Fun adventure about exploring, grabbing loot, partying up, and exploring some more. Great core game loop, high fun value, quick reply. Small gripes about inventory and battle ui -- would be grand if key commands would execute attack/defend/use, but that's really it. Impressive work for the limited time we have in the dare!
Really interesting concept, and well put together visually. Input kept breaking on me, cords wouldn't drag or enter the wall even after jamming the button a bunch of times. Solid work regardless.
Really juicy, good times with pixels flying everywhere. Nice work!
Had a good time chewing through some waves. Only being able to shoot in the direction I was moving was intensely frustrating given that left click was the way to shoot. I kept pointing the mouse in the opposite direction and of course nothing happened. Still, pretty pictures here, cool enemies, and I liked the parallax grey tree-bars.
I love a good tower defense! There's some cool concepts in here, and I like having to manage energy output/generation. It does become simple rather quickly, but I bet if you keep working on it you can come up with more types of towers and enemies. Good work!
Yoooooooooooooooooooooo this is really fun, especially for someone as young as you! Keep at it, as you get older and rack more XP you're gonna make truly cool stuff. I was impressed by the parallax star field. Combat was fun and it was nice to find more loots in space, you put in quite a bit for the time you had. My one gripe is that the power up options like the extra triangle and spinny gun didn't carry from mission to mission. Otherwise, A+++
oh my god the score doesn't reset on game clear? hahahahahahahahah gg jim well done
@benburgh Thanks for streaming it! I see that wasd/arrows weren't moving you around during the menu, that's messed up. I'll look into it.
Yeah that ruled, you watched me play it, shit was cash. Good job.
I pressed C in game and thought I beat it, but actually it's the credits sequence.
Couldn't figure out how to shoot with the keyboard. Was the goal to just run and jump into purple fences? Enemies didn't seem to shoot at me and if I got by bullets it didn't seem like anything happened.
This was a good time! Really sweet art, and fun to watch the little city grow. Fine work for 48 hours.
Clever! I like the idea of choosing when to throw one of your own ships into the trash in order to save the others. Couldn't always tell when it was the right time, but I sort of figured it out. Excellent sprites and fine audio as well. Good show.
Good run here! Neat concepts for boss battles, keep polishing those up as you make more games.
Great concept, and I like when people try narrative games during these jams. As you probably have heard already, all the events that were supposed to make me lose people made me gain them instead.
Clever ideas here, and I cannot believe you built it all in scratch! Please keep training, you'll make many great things if this where you're starting from.
Good job cranking something out on the ol' 64. Would have liked some gameplay outside of straight up guessing, but I admire the concept.
I love throwin' them bodies into the pit. Great stuff.
Excellent sheepy graphics and cute sheep parts in the explosions. The music wasn't bad either. Fine presentation. Really disliked not being able to skip the long scrolls of text.
This is great! Only hassle was not realizing that diagonal moves were ok. Really liked how clean the puzzles felt, and the enemy upgrade in the back half was a fun surprise. Well done all around.
Clever idea and fun presentation. Solid stuff for your first time out, please keep making more things!
Slick presentation, controls felt great, and cutting the string so that the balloon would fall was a great touch. Well done!
S I D E S P I K E S Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
thank you for sharing your game with me and letting me play it on stream. Best music of any LD so far, forever.
Excellent presentation. Just like real religion: none of it makes any sense and you have to supply your own meaning, then defend it against anyone who would disagree. Please make that disagreement part into the RTS blood-soaked sequel.
Great concept, and frantic running about the ship to put things here and there. Hard at times to determine exactly what was going on and why I was in danger. It is a great concept!
I looooooove this type of LD game and y'all nailed this. Great stuff. The enemies felt fair, weapons felt good, bosses dispensed the required amount of snark and swagger. Top shelf. My one wish would be for an r-click defensive maneuver, a dash a shield or something, but that may not be Arms McManstremf's style and that's ok. Thanks for this fun game.
@cpv Thanks for noting that, I added the ability for players to cancel out of that process if the leaderboard loading gets stuck.
@jordantanner Isn't it something? That Dreamlo guy is doing all of us a great service.
Great work here, and an interesting puzzle game. Really wish I could have just typed "N" instead of "MOVE N" over and over, but otherwise it was a good deal of fun.
Solid work, lots of potential. You have a good eye for puzzles, keep developing this and push on to greater heights!
You promised! Now you have to do it.
Great game here, and lots of polish. Juicy -- maybe too juicy, but you kids these days love the juice.
Had fun trying to suss out the rules for plant living/dying. Played a few times, never quite managed to pay rent for the first couple of weeks but I have an itch to go back and try again and see if I can make it happen.
Yoooooooooooooooooooo this game is a good time! Trying to bloodfoom a cloud of 30 dudes at once is a really fun gameplay goal, if you keep touching this up I'd love to see combo modifiers and other cool arcadey stuff. Props for great lookin sprites and music that is chill enough to listen to during the game. Excellent work.
Great work on fun shooter. Really liked how clean and clear the sprites were, and the audio slowing/ducking during bullet time is A++. Would love to have seen a score :D
This game is really fun and of course it is beautiful. High tier art on all those crazy monsters, and a solid, simple block/attack system. A+ effort, no surprise from you though.
Good times! Fun and tight little simple 4x, great stuff for a ludum dare. Combat felt cool, there were a lot of places where most LD style UIs would have fallen apart but the game here was solid and consistent. Everything made sense and conquering space was fun.
Pretty game, clean looking sprites. Great work. Really missed not having a skip-turn button, it meant the enemies always have the advantage and all my moves are bad :D but sometimes that's just how battle works.
Totally wins the award for Best Satan Sprite 20XX Ludum Dare 44. Well done. Fun game. Turned the music off and played the battle theme from Xenoblade 2 for my stream, they all loved it.
Hella fun omage to Devil Daggers, excellent control, pacing, tons of shit on screen, this all made me so happy. Well done, please keep it up.
Excellent presentation, controls felt great, enemy patterns felt readable and fair which is a really big deal for scrolling shooters. Awesome work!
This game rules I have no idea what to say. When the waiter squeaked away with my coins I was done 1000% Great job with this.
Excellent RTS sorta stuff, I don't get to play enough of this type of game. Really well done. Pretty lookin main character tree too. I never fully understood how Farms worked -- did they restore your health only once? Is it worth it to upgrade them? Who can truly understand the mystery of the forest. Great work, fun fun game.
Really does bring home the feel of tabbing through a group of hopeless heroes and trying to keep them up. The audio was so difficult to endure, I do understand you needed to sell the idea of casting time but the effects were particularly high frequency.
Great stuff, many props for excellent cat sound effects and clearly a 5-star theme effort for matching both the phonetic truth and certain intent of the theme. Well done for reals.
Solid presentation, and bones + knives flying everywhere! I love me some particles. Super difficult, when I realized that it was back to the beginning every time I was discouraged, but maybe I'm just old and weak, not ready for the future.
This is the dumbest game in the entire jam and therefore the best. GOAT clicker, GOAT pelicans, GOAT waves. Really like how colorful and alive it is, this is the true soul of a video game. Please do every LDJam forever from here on out.
@mvasko2 I'm glad you got some smiles and enjoyed kicking it for a little even though it's not your cup of tea. That's one of my favorite parts of LD, playing stuff I normally wouldn't and having fun with things outside my usual wheel house.
@fiquem Thank you! I'm with you on not sacrificing them -- it's a viable gameplay choice, but as I was coding the spray of gibs I felt immediate guilt.
@letterafterz Thank you very much. Doc worked really hard on the music and I think it's killer. Everything just flows.
@all-y'all: It *is* a touch difficult isn't it. Technically I still have a few hours to tone it down, hmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔
@jimbly what you mean you didn't see the tiny shaking boxes on your wizards head, all the way on the other side of the screen from where you were looking? GOSH, players these days.
:) You are completely right. I wanted to get the cancel sound in but was very tired and ran out of time. I'll get it in later after judging, I think this game is neat and want to kick it around some more.
@jhax I could have done better with their shadows -- the birds are hit if you can do an airstrike, if the meteor you launch hits them in the air on the way down. Same goes for all jumping critters but the birds are never on the ground.
@clemonades Thank youuuu!
@meskaline Thank you! DocJekyll really crushed it didn't he?
This is great and you should be hella proud. The sprite work is terrific, the controls are quite good -- for this type of game, which is about tough controls anyway. Lots of crazy monsters, dynamic quests, there's hidden depth here that you can explain in the game definition above and also in game if you revisit this which you TOTALLY SHOULD :D fantastic work, please keep it up.
This isn't fair, you are very good at making a game, graphics, and music. The music is really good AND you still have the courtesy of offering a mute button. This is the spirit of humility that we should all strive for. What an excellent five star offering. Dogs dogs dogs
:meat_on_bone:

This game deserves some votes, y'all gotta get out there and vote on other games yourselves. It's really neat, and you did a fine job with the presentation. A clever take on bomberman with some fun mechanics. I hope more people see this!
@patsui You might be right about the difficulty. I wanted players to engage in the blocking mechanics as well as attacking, so the projectile rate is Real, but the rewards for parrying them are pretty sweet too.
@paroxysmal ah, that explains it! Dang. First time with Godot, I didn't know that.
@pvp I finally, *finally*, got on top. Barely. Your turn ;)
@chesiq Check it out here: http://dreamlo.com/ I've dropped it into Unity and Godot as well, shouldn't take you very much to get it running.
@cassio-eduardo Thank you! Yeah this is the first time I went platformer instead of topdown shooty, and there's some places where the polish is lacking. Those airattacks aren't the very best, lessons learned for next time!
I played on a 120hz monitor, got very far at double speed, clearly I am a superior gamer made of superior gaming DNA. What an excellent ride, fantastic art and lots of neat bits of puzzly explore-y content. Well done.
I love when people throw down on arcade games for a ludum dare! This is great, you nailed everything about the presentation and the idea is really slick. I was slightly disheartened at first thinking I'd need to jump over a million barrels but when the point powerups started appearing I felt almost guilty for not assuming that the developer would have thought that through. You made something quite fun here, great work.
At the end everyone had screamy faces but I still almost rocked a gold medal, just goes to show that the customer might make a lot of noise but they're still gonna enjoy the product. A good time clicking everyone dashing about like a mad fool, glad you found the time to make this!
This a great way to spend time and get very angry at your own incompetence. There has not been so juicy and rewarding a ball smackin sound since a very long time. Jokes jokes jokes. You did great work.
Brilliant entry, simple and super fun. High level of polish too. Here, a whole night sky full of stars for your votes. What a delight.
Best time was 2:10.84, apparently ranked God-Tier, I'll take it. Get you some leaderboards, have you checked out Dreamlo? It's where I'm hosting mine for all of no dollars.
A fine physics game! Great audio and overall presentation, easy to control, and not too wildly punishing. Solid.
Very well put together. Not the biggest fan of frustration and sliding so it was entirely my cup of tea, but it was well done, and the freeze-mode to jump extra far was a great touch. Controlled well with the gamepad too.
Great sprite art and a solid set of interfaces. I imagine over time and testing you could find a pace that really works for the game. Keep it up!
Great work, you should be proud of this. There's a touch of confusion at first but you work with the time you have and this is a fine game. I think you found the right amount of crazy in the pacing. The two outros I saw were really well done also.
I deserved to die because I was throwing meteors at random in a field of skeletons. This game has a great sense of what it is like to be an old and confused wizard. A+
A++ audio, high marks for quality sprites, and I like how each new area creates a new twist on what the saber does when it bounces off the big bad guys. Great work! Please keep making cool things.
I am very bad at collecting dishes and everyone at the restaurant has feel slashed to pieces by broken plates. I feel so guilty.
Excellent mini golf, excellent piracy, controlled smooth the entire time. Well done, big smiles.
I am not a very good penguin captain. But this is an enjoyable game even if it frustrating, the true spirit of QWOP. Great work. Also, very good submarine audio.
I had trouble making the F keys work but I got it eventually. Fun game, charming, great presentation. Really well done.
582! Love this, feels good to play and lots of style. What a delightful tutorial / intro as well, I know that had to chew up some compo time but good on you for doing it. The glasses were a nice touch.
Day 1: I was on the island for 12 minutes and then made it off. I found a very confused lady who spent years alone, apparently because she did not know how a shovel worked. I can dig it.
A good game, I hope you make more things like this!
A great game for speed runners because it seemed like there might be tactics to scoot the bottom in quickly and speed up the settling process. Perhaps! Good work.
A well put together and rather intense room escape. Kinda wish I didn't have to wait so long between inputs from the email, but 100% mood and flavor for having the other emails come in and feeling like this was an actual person... trapped by an actual nuclear bomb :D good job!
Great work! Excellent art style and fine music. I'm a sucker for element combining type games and this one was pretty neat. I'll admit that when things got chaotic I found spamming potions to be the most effective thing to do, but that's something you could iterate on if you carry this idea further. A fun game.
Very challenging, very wiggly! Well put together game with some fancy level design. And so wiggly. So so very wiggly.
Highly atmospheric, I just wanted to wander around in the snowy biome to the nice music. And maybe build something. Maybe... because the builders are in me RIGHT NOW
Works great with gamepad! I have doomed all of mankind. Platforming felt solid, a couple of confusing jumps but otherwise solid effort with shiny theme polish.
Great series of puzzles, logical and sensible throughout. Don't want to spoil anything but I certainly have FEELINGS about some of what transpired :D great job.
Very creepy spoopy land. I got lost a bit in the basement but maybe that was the point. High marks for mood, you really know how to build a scary atmosphere.
Quirky little game here, good show. Nice for one day of work in the system, keep it up, keep making awesome things!
Smooth little game here, well done. I love simple score chasers. Having bits of the ship take individual damage was a nice touch.
Excellent sprite work. I would have loved to have seen the other parts of the game but the initial platforming is too punishing. I bet there's a lot of cool work hidden behind it!
I know that one of the mushrooms was indeed not a mushroom. I'm on to your games. You can't hide from The Patriots, even down in the deepest dirtiest hole.
Good stuff, looks like y'all had a lot of fun!
This is great! Every mechanic is simple, makes sense, it all works together. Music is fun, graphics are cute, can't miss. Great work.
When you swapped my score when I was at 9 points, man I don't think I've frowned that hard in a long time. Dang. Who knew a simple game of Pong could crush a soul.
Neat concept here. A little tough to understand what the goal is at first, but it's fun to knock around a bunch of blocks with my paddle wooshing back and forth.
Hey great job putting something together for the compo. Neat idea, I felt like I had a really hard time jamming the cargo ships but I can see what you were going for. Keep it up!
Excellent artwork, game looks great and killer job making something that runs on the C64. Great work, keep it up.
I love Phantasy Star so I played your game. It wasn't Phantasy Star, but that's ok, what is, really? Good work, nice art, keep on keeping on with your writing, some of those jokes landed pretty well. I got to the final form and lost, the burn debuff that landed on me early on seemed really OP and harassed me through the whole fight. Otherwise, good show.
Good job team, I'd type more but j_revel is here in twitch watching me so he gets all the feedback direct. GG.
What. This is way better than it had any right to be. Super duper fun, gun felt great, first playthrough I had the default mouse sensitivity which was terrible but second time I set it to something sane and had even more fun! The music is choice, the mood perfect, what a good time. Thank you for putting this together. Excellent.
Lots of cool ideas here, neat systems in place, obvious horizons of potential. Having to flip modes all the time felt like a bit of a chore but that's ok. I imagine if you keep working on the game you can come up with some challenges besides moving from room to room before power runs out. Great work, thank you for putting it together.
This is great! Easy and fun to control, tight gameplay loops, good times all around. Excellent job introducing little bits and pieces of gameplay over time. I made it out of the outlands and had fun doing so. Thanks for putting this together.
Congratulations on making your first godot game! Great use of the theme. Found it tough to play for very long because energy regeneration was so limited, after missing a couple of shots all I got to do was dodge and wait for a very long time. Still a neat idea, good work.
Great work! I like flocking action in birds, neat to make a whole game mechanic around it. There's lots of places where you could add content or gameplay but at the same time what you already have is great and there's a simplicity to it that is kinda nice. Either way, great job putting this together.
You watched me play on stream so leaving feedback is kinda silly but here we go: why did the Egyptians do such a bad job of making sarcophagi? They were so fragile. Gold shattered like glass. Everything I thought I knew was wrong. Also, cute animals are not allowed to drive, even in other countries.
Good job! Fun little tower, certainly fits the theme. Slippery controls, feels like the color palette was telling me the tower was made of ice. Good work for the time given, keep it up.
I surrendered at level 19 I think. Excellent take on The Password Game, good work!
Good work! A solid take on the genre, plenty of opportunities to think things through. Keep it up!
A+ game of the jam so far. BRILLIANT idea for 48 hours, wowowowow. So happy to have found this. I got 1130 or so points so I am pretty much the best in the whole world.
I am still playing this <3
I entertain my stream viewers with it while waiting for longass Switch builds. Please make more of this game!
