Such a game for a 72h jam! I played your game, it was very fun to kill all those monsters! Simple gameplay, but very powerfull mechanics! Keep the good work !

scalphamission 2019-04-30 03:39

Solid gameplay and lots of variety for a jam game

megan-kozun 2019-04-30 03:46

Good gameplay and controls, the art was cute!

paul-giovannini 2019-04-30 03:47

I love your game ! Graphics and camera are really cool! Really good !

zmarvel 2019-04-30 03:50

Really great idea! It was fun to play, and the graphics and audio were great. If I had to criticize one thing, maybe I was missing something, but I thought it was pretty hard right from the start. Still fun, though--it made me want to keep playing!

greenboxgames 2019-04-30 03:52

Awesome game! I love the art style and the music/sound. I only wish that the walls could have remained popped up throughout the whole game. The main problem I had was the reload time on the pistol felt really long for a weapon with only 10 low damage bullets. Other then that though its a great game. Keep up the good work!

maidev 2019-04-30 03:53

Such a beautiful game for a game jam! Loved the progression and the theme, the music is amazing! Just had some trouble with the upgrades

akshay-b 2019-04-30 04:00

Solid jam game! Wears its Nuclear Throne inspiration on its sleeve. I like the movement and shooting, in general. I also like how the player grew itself back after killing enough enemies. The procedural level generation worked pretty well but the levels are super huge and takes forever to traverse. I wish the beefy variant did something more than just have more health. And I found an altar that gave me a crossbow upgrade but never found a crossbow, only shotguns and pistols, which were also rare.

BUT, overall like I said, solid game. Nice work!

the-blue-hatted 2019-04-30 04:03

Nice game!, I really liked the graphics, and the mechanics are great too.

endssgamesstudio 2019-04-30 04:03

Quite fun, a song would be cool.

taylomol000 2019-04-30 04:12

So much fun! I hope you continue developing this, now that the 72h crunch is over!

valid 2019-04-30 05:55

Great gameplay and great art. I really enjoyed this :)

somefarang 2019-04-30 15:08

Nice job! I liked playing around with the different weapons. Pretty fun.

maxr00 2019-04-30 17:58

Good entry! Lots of fun, nailed the mechanics

vinegarlove 2019-04-30 22:05

The recoil of the shot is really on point. I loved that mechanic. Also the reaper that follows you and gives you tip is awesome :)

tricky-fat-cat 2019-04-30 22:31

I like this game, smooth gameplay and a superb feeling of guns, and the idea of the body changing with a pool of health is pretty neat.

lucas-kauff 2019-04-30 23:40

cool game ! feels like Enter the Gungeon

johannimations 2019-05-01 01:21

Great, very well polished in terms of visuals and audio. So far best in mood for me!!!

taco360 2019-05-01 03:00

The basic mechanics here are really good. The movement feels great, weapons seem balanced. Graphics are cute and simple, sound is fine. But everything else just feels meh. Levels are far too big, which wouldn't be a problem if they weren't so samey. Humor misses the mark a little bit imo.

Also, I literally couldn't find any listing of the controls anywhere. I couldn't even figure out how to sacrifice health using those token things (you know, the THEME MECHANIC), because the game never told me how it works or what buttons to press.

But while I do have mixed feelings on this one, for being made in 72 hours, it's not bad.

chicomcastro 2019-05-01 03:46

Have the same idea, haha, but you go further. Very funny!

belle 2019-05-01 08:04

Very clever that you start with no life. You made good use of the theme. The graphically you went simple and polished, which worked out great. I like that you added the detail of gravel flying off while running on the dirt. Great job guys, you should be proud of what you were able to create!

annie-owl 2019-05-01 10:04

Nicely done dungeon crawler. The soundtrack was great and fitting. I felt that stages were a little bit too big and new weapons too hard to find, but maybe that's just me.

shadow30 2019-05-01 12:39

I like it. Are the maps generated? Some of the zombies gets stuck to a wall easily. Maybe you can adapt the colliders a bit.

lyrcaxis 2019-05-01 13:16

Good enough to keep me playing for 1 hour! Had to turn off the music.

Since you went for sandbox it would be wise to invest into some variety on audio ^^

daspanjo 2019-05-01 13:37

@taco360 Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback! The level is a problem a lot of people complained about and we are probalby going to change that. Regarding the problems with the totems, you can find totems on the map and you just have to walk into them. Then you are presented with a screen where you have to select one perk with your mouse. We are going to add the controls to this and the itch page. After the rating is over it will be part of the game. Thanks for the feedback!

drauthius 2019-05-01 14:12

Solid entry with a nice health mechanic. As has already been said, the levels were a bit too big. With so many different games to try ever Ludum Dare, there just isn't enough time to spend too long on a single entry. I saw that there were new enemies every level down, but it took way too long to find the exit, and it was quite easy to get lost in the maze. The upgrade choices were interesting, but once invested, it kinda felt like I was locked to a certain weapon, and that there wasn't a reason to try/upgrade the other weapons. Might have been better to have weapon-agnostic upgrades? (I only managed to get to two totems, so not sure if there's anything like that in there.) Lastly, some things on the ground (like twigs and stones) have an outline, which kinda read as being interactible. All in all, a good fun game!

taco360 2019-05-01 15:11

@dasPanjo - Hmm, I must have ran into a bug or something, as I couldn't click either of the options. Will probably give this one another go later, as I didn't make it too far.

nandon 2019-05-02 03:13

Good base. Good music. I enjoyed getting my body back slowly.

kivelocity 2019-05-02 03:13

This game is fast, fluid and feels as if it is very polished, which is not something always in game jam games. The concept is interesting, becoming more and more alive the more you kill enemies. It is working well, and the shooting really has an impact with the way it recoils your actual player. 4.5/5

black-potion 2019-05-02 03:20

Nice attention to details, couldn't stop playing until i was full life.

jomiak 2019-05-02 04:05

Love this game, absolutely amazing, only issue is movement is a bit weird sometimes and the same song repeating is noticeable and some variety would be nice, but other than that the game is amazing. Really great work!

hwaet 2019-05-02 04:11

I love the feel of the pistol attack. It felt very impactful! And I really liked the background music, its a nice beat for this kind of game. With the shotgun I noticed a bit of a lag with the bullets and the screen shake. It wasn't much, but enough to make me go back to the other weapons that had a nicer feel. Really great job on this!

jyrkface 2019-05-02 05:37

This is the content I came here for. Honestly thought a lot about making a shooty dungeon crawler but was sure someone would do it better. glad you proved me right ;)

tiagorrech 2019-05-02 11:41

Very well done, I loved the transition from skeleton to little naked dude!

alienplay 2019-05-02 15:51

I like how you made that skeleton>human transition, it's a nice touch. It's a generally well polished game. I like how you added those pop up effects every time bullets hits the enemy. Also, it's nice that reload time is dependent on how many bullets I already have in the pistol. One thing I didn't like is that enemies would get too transparent when I hit them. I sometimes thought "This is it. I killed him." and that wasn't the case. But this should be an easy fix. Great job overall!

gil4 2019-05-02 19:34

A great and polished entry, especially the "juiciness" of shooting. Well done!

snowtv 2019-05-04 03:08

Shooting is solid, but the recoil is a bit too much.

madjackmcmad 2019-05-06 01:08

High tier presentation, fun shooting and scootin, well done. I felt like the time to kill was a bit long, it seemed like maybe I have seen all there is to see by level 2, but maybe I'm wrong!

gelisam 2019-05-06 02:54

Haha, I spent way too much time playing this one! The difficulty is really well balanced, I almost never reached full health and sometimes opted not to buy an upgrade because the enemies were too strong... and then I regretted it in the next level, when the enemies were even stronger and that upgrade would have been helpful :)

Speaking of upgrades, the effect of the upgrades is described accurately but not viscerally: improving the speed of the pistol by such a small amount seemed like it wouldn't make a difference, but on the contrary, it makes a huge difference and after I bought too much of it, I even had to switch to a different weapon because the recoil was huge. I don't know if the other similarly-small upgrades have a similarly-large impact, as a poor experience with the shotgun and llamas made me stick with the pistol.

Speaking of llamas, the rate at which new enemies are introduced is also good, the llamas and wizards were introduced as soon as I felt the orcs were getting a bit repetitive. That makes me think that there is probably more contents to be seen if can reach the higher levels, but I keep dying. As a result, my only complaint is that I wish there was a way to save or at least mute the music, because while I really want to finish this game, I don't think I can do it in one sitting :)

Oh, and to those who couldn't figure out how click on the upgrades: turns out the hitbox is quite small, you have to click on the title of the upgrade, not its description.

mika-la-grand 2019-05-06 15:58

It's pretty well balanced and starting off nearly dead is also funny, but I could figure out how to use the altars. The levels are also very big and there it's hard to know were you need to go. I was also unable to access the settinsmenu. The weapons seem to have unlimted ammo, but there is nothing indicating that you actually have unlimited ammo. So in the beginning I switched to a new weapon each time my ammo got low.

aim 2019-05-11 20:13

Very well put together and great gameplay and graphics.

One question/critique: The loss of hearts when you get hit once seems arbitrary and not immediately clear. (perhaps too high) From almost full health to a meatbag in one hit. (4 hearts to 1 heart in one hit) Are multiple enemies' hits resolving at the same time? Improper invulnerability?

aeveis 2019-05-14 06:23

I played until stage 14, and upgraded the crossbow until it was like a death laser. Overall the balance was pretty easy, but the upgrade loop can be pretty addicting as you can make the weapons potentially overpowered. I had to read the comments to figure out to click the text to upgrade. One thing I would've like to see is the hitbox to go away faster once I killed an enemy, so extra shots keep going and hit the next enemy rather than being absorbed by the already dead enemy. The different enemies like the llama and the mage was interesting and made me switch weapons a couple times to see if they worked better. Nice job!
