ah crap you got my idea!

nuclear-mosquito 2015-04-18 18:11

@ Frozen Stick: Sorry man.

TaoPhoenix 2015-04-19 01:48

A pretty tricky game.

What's the final objective?

I was trying to use the moon to knock the green planets together, but I couldn't get it done.

You might want to add to the readme some basics. It looks like if you get too close to the planets your hit points go down until you die.

Tech note: For Unity Windows, I was getting horrible near crashes, because the "Windowed" checkbox was unmarked. Once I checked that, it did what I wanted, which was to play the game in a window less than full screen.

nuclear-mosquito 2015-04-19 08:20

In the prototype the Test range is just to practice your aim. I'll update the readme with some more informative text once I complete the duel mode where you can play against other players. The aim of the duel mode will be to destroy the other player's planet.

Yes. If you collide with planets or moons your health goes down. But it shouldn't happen at a range.

What screen size were you using when the game almost crashed?

nuclear-mosquito 2015-04-19 19:32

Finally! The game is complete :) Just uploading the final version.

Lovely game. Reminds me of the Hammerfight. Moon as a weapon is a crazy idea =)

jadernak 2015-04-20 09:26

I hate this concept of combat (Hammerfight style). But that doesn't mean it's a bad game, on the contrary. Good job :)

madjackmcmad 2015-04-20 09:28

Simple but cool. Gravity felt good. I felt betrayed by my own moon when it hurt me :D I'd love to crack open other planets in single player.

martymon 2015-04-20 09:41

Fun game overall. I can see what you're trying to do there. It would be a cool local multiplayer game for up to four players. Consider making an asteroids type level for single players with no friends (like me!) where you use the ball to destroy targets. Good job!

seankimdesign 2015-04-20 18:45

Huh, that was a pretty fun game. It took me back to all those 1-on-1 multiplayer games that I used to play with friends back in 2000s. It was easy to pick up and have fun playing. Great music as well. Kudos.

drprettypatty 2015-04-20 18:48

This is really fun, and and awesome use of the theme! I agree with martymon, this would make a fantastic 4-player game :) The controls and physics felt tight (in a good way), I liked the music, and the planet destruction animation was satisfying. Great work! A fuller singleplayer mode would be cool in the future as well, if you continue working on this.

piratequentin 2015-04-20 18:51

I love the concept, but what am I supposed to do in singleplayer? I can't destroy planet with moon :/

nihilaleph 2015-04-20 18:55

Great job! Really liked the concept! But what about single players?! I can't play by myself T_T
Oh just one point, why does the blue planet turns red when it releases the moon but the red planet doesn't change color?

nuclear-mosquito 2015-04-20 20:03

Hey guys. Thanks for the awesome feedback so far. You're really encouraging me to make a proper full game out of this.

Concerning the single player mode: I only made it as a mode where you can practice against targets, due to the fact that this was intended as a multiplayer game. I'm regretting the fact that I went against my gut and didn't make the target practice level more interactive.

The blue and the red planets turn red when you release the moon (But you don't see it on the red planet). One of my derp moments in the game's development. In hindsight, I should've just made it white...

The inspiration for the game actually came from Strange Attractors(http://www.pixelprospector.com/strange-attractors/), not Hammerfight, but it morphed into that as I tweaked the controls to be more fun.

I'm a programmer, so I owe you guys a huge thanks for the compliments on my art, animations and music, as it is the first time ever that I've done them. (I have worked with GIMP before though, so the creation tools weren't that alien to me)

cafeambivalence 2015-04-20 20:38

Great game. What I enjoyed most was the responsive controls, the music and background. The planet graphics appeared a bit flat by comparison to the beautiful background. The moon sometimes halted rotation when I moved in a certain direction, but otherwise its constant motion made aiming a little tricky... depending on the type of player that plays this game, the aiming method might either seem complex and masterful, or awkward.
I can see this game as being a lot of fun in two player mode. Good work.

onetrueaaron 2015-04-21 14:05

So far, this is the best game in this compo. This is straight up awesome, appears to have no bugs, and runs so smooth i'm soaked with envy. My only problem, if you'd call it that, is there's no single player fight option/online play. Great job. Very clever idea, and well done.

fixitteam 2015-04-21 19:59

Definitely cool concept. It's really fun to play.
As other said, arcade singleplayer would've been awesome to see. Otherwise an online multiplayer version would be nice.

Very enjoyable!

jhell 2015-04-22 11:13

Hi, pretty cool idea, excellent execution, nice music and controls (but no azerty support and arrow keys didn't work for me :().

nuclear-mosquito 2015-04-22 11:18

@jhell You can set the controls in the prelauncher.

jupiter_hadley 2015-04-22 17:18

Wasnt sure how to destroy the other planets, but this game was pretty fun to play! I included it in part 2 of my Ludum Dare 32 compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/N2U1d1bXaPI

pixel_reaper 2015-04-22 17:33

Well done. I think I might have accidentally broken your screen shake...

rudra 2015-04-22 17:39

Very cool graphics and concept ! Really liked the background and the way the object revolved ! Cheers ! Good one !

francoisvn 2015-04-22 21:45

Interesting little game :)

Can confirm Linux port worked for me.

tuism 2015-04-23 09:53

Love the concept! It actually works pretty well, the gravity seems to react well to player input, which is good. It's just a shame that the rest of the game is a bit lifeless - more juice would have made it really good!

A bit more variety in the arena... And maybe not so much of a hard edge to the sides of the arena could be good. Wrapping perhaps?

There's been a lot of flail-style games lately, this is a nice take on it :)

nuclear-mosquito 2015-04-23 13:05

Thanks for the feedback @Tuism. I do agree that the game lacks a bit juice. This is because I made my scope very small and made sure that I did little, but did it well. In the end I finished a few hours early. I believe that on my next Ludum Dare I'll have the skills to pump in a lot more juice.

kraosu 2015-04-23 22:22

Fun! I enjoyed the whole feel of everything.

justinmullin 2015-04-24 01:47

What a great idea! Execution is spot on too. It's evocative of Hammerfight for sure, but it's its own game as well. I like it!
