LD30 — Connected Worlds

Connect the worlds, rule the universe by Markavian 2014-08-25T18:14:00

I would really like to play a PC game. Not so much friends around i could play board games with.
Do you plan to finish it or you will concentrate on a board version?

Capsule by PaperBlurt 2014-08-25T11:08:00

Writing is terrific, graphics are subtle and clean. Humble animations are really adding to the mood, too.
I've only been slightly annoyed by the Makida console keeps popping after the first slug stop.

The Verse by simplesmiler 2014-08-25T12:07:00

I love the style and gameplay, they are both simple and beautiful, with every piece on its place. You've captured the essence of the control games.

Conglomerates by A333 2014-08-25T09:58:00

Sorry guys. I've uploaded the build at the first place, of course, but the site refuses to show the link (dunno why, just checked - link is good).
I'll upload it to the alt location, it's the same archive, hope it's not against the rules.

Conglomerates by A333 2014-08-25T12:17:00

>n42k
Yes, it needs some focus checks. But it's a minor, so may be in a remake =).
>modbox, Markavian, JetL33t
Controls are very weak. Input update, you should've seen that piece of code, it's a huge mess.
About difficulty - first level is actually badly designed, and the last level, well, i've never been able to beat it yet, but i've figured someone definitely would. Congratulations to you all =)

Conglomerates by A333 2014-08-25T12:40:00

You really know your way around strategies. Something that I should consider to learn before trying to make another strategy game.

schizm by KittyMac 2014-08-25T19:54:00

Idea is exploitable. It's definitely fun to scavenge the space in search of the spare parts. But, as being said, it's much more fun when it's tied with the actual game mechanics.
You'd probably encounter peculiar balance disruptions this way, for example, defensive play would be more profitable, the battles will be near your planet, where debris are easier to harvest, but clicking certainly breaks the immersion.
Oh well, i've got carried away, but it's because the concept is good.

Midnight by Pinqu 2014-08-25T12:35:00

Good concept. Final sequence is quite disturbing =) I wish there'd be a way to survive it, like, digging a hole or something.

Minor complaints: i'm not sure if some fireflies are dummies or i just couldn't aim at the exact spot.

Geometrismo by 2A1S 2014-09-15T13:14:00

Pythagoras would be proud =) nice work, man. Pure strategical concept, so the graphics are fitting.
It'd be great to explore asymmetrical balance further, to exploit ideology part. It's hard to make right, but worth it.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Clumsy Crew: Incredible Tank by TobiasNL 2015-04-20T08:55:00

Beautiful graphics, and gameplay is fun. Nice touch with the engine meltdowns, could be expanded to additional effects (for example, broken gun, but fast).
If you are stuck with rockets and meltdown - you are screwed.

Alter/Cannon by Ysty 2015-04-20T10:55:00

It's fun, cooldown adds to the difficulty, but in a good sense. I found that the enemies can sometimes spawn very close to you, even on behind, which is inconvenient.

Ramming Speed by dingotime 2015-04-20T08:41:00

Ship controls nicely, and is fun to fly around.
Third level first door though... claimed too many rams =)

Vampire Slayer Deluxe by iMer 2015-04-20T09:08:00

Heh, fun little game.
I've lost on the first level because I've shot down my cross with the other cross. But that gave me an idea. A salvo of hi-speed suns accelerated by the holy water. Last boss wasn't up for this.

Dr. Eccentric by A333 2015-04-20T09:42:00

Funny thing is that intro scenes were made like in 5 minutes.
Well, that's was bad priority management and planning from my side, I guess.

Lunar Combat by Nuclear Mosquito 2015-04-20T09:23:00

Lovely game. Reminds me of the Hammerfight. Moon as a weapon is a crazy idea =)

Teed Off by sanojian 2015-04-20T09:29:00

Great game.
Hole 7 is a nightmare. Probably because I suck at angle-force games =)

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

CMDR LR by timtipgames 2015-12-14T19:17:00

Got through it, beat some records.
Once you've managed to wire up your reflexes and learn how to fly downwards, this game starts to be even more fun. Overall a very nice game. It would be nice to see it expanded properly.

CMDR LR by timtipgames 2015-12-14T19:36:00

VascoF, sorry dude, it seems that I've beat some of yours. Better start over.

Growy the Flowy by Optimus6128 2015-12-14T08:22:00

Very nice growing algorithm, and graphics are fitting. I like the how the vine handles too.
Couple of powerups (which you'd need to entangle to get), more kinds of obstacles, scores - this game have the potential to grow =)

Sugarcane by bobismijnnaam 2015-12-14T17:27:00

Hi man. It seems that your program's dependent on vcruntime140D.dll, which is a debug version lib. AFAIK it doesn't distribute with common packages. Are you sure you've built a Release config?

Giant tree battle by jackolondon 2015-12-14T17:46:00

Get your deserved 5 stars for dem graphics man =)
Took me a second to realize that the game's online. GJ.

Radivader by Piscythe 2015-12-14T18:40:00

Nice game! I've liked a variety of enemy roles.
And you've even managed to include the boss! great job.

Sprout by TheOZone 2015-12-20T11:44:00

Very nice idea with sprouts and continuity. Showing the complete picture of the three was also a nice touch.

It's good as it is, a zen like experience, but in my opinion it could benefit from victory conditions (e.g. get 80% of the drops) and levels that will affect the way you are growing.

Temple of Doom and Friendship by A333 2015-12-14T18:25:00

Thank you everybody! Glad you've like it, and sorry if the experience was a bit rough.

I know the controls aren't particularly good even on standard mode. Should have added the third mode with jump button, but I liked the idea of two times so much I just couldn't resist.
I also agree that sound is bad. Havent' had enough time for it, will try to prioritize better next time.

Oxygen regens around the plant, and if you grow it, the oxygen will regen faster. Probably should made it more clear, but I've tried to design the game so the zones you'd need to clear will always lack oxygen.

If you find that the game is OK with standard control scheme, try the switching one. It was kind of first idea, but after some prototyping I've realised how horrible it was. Left it as a bonus for the die-hard steel plated Ludum Darers out there.

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-19T19:42:00

As far as I understand, you have to follow sound. Line order seems not important.
Managed to find three pieces, three distinct sounds: one is white noise, like waterfall, second is sharper noice, like the torch flame, third is the melody. But i've not been able to find the fourth piece. I've tried to evade all sounds for a while, but for no avail.
Overall it's a nice relaxing experience, not many people will agree that this is a game, but for me it clearly is.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Polydrone by graebor 2016-04-19T20:08:00

I DONT KNOW WHAT IM DOING BUT IT'S AWESOME summarizes my experience of the first two minutes.

Two Jobs by Alexandre Szybiak 2016-04-18T19:09:00

Great game actually. Transition is very well done, mouse wheel control is especially good idea. I like the graphics and music as well. Nice job =)

Little nitpicking just because I loved your game so much: balance wise, ship form feels less worthy. Slower bullets of the pad form has more chance to meet enemies, and the only advantage is the leaner profile. Perhaps in a more feature rich game it would be easier to balance (enemy health, etc). So maybe it's worth to explore this design.

3-Form by Ping78 2016-04-22T18:12:00

Very nice idea, actually feels great to be able to morph in 3D environment. Sadly, cat (main platforming form) has very slippery controls, I've tried for 5 minutes and wasn't able to jump into the platform in the first barricaded building

CubeShift by JangoBrick 2016-04-18T17:40:00

512.9
Went through 10 in a breeze, got very lucky.

Overall nice and polished game. Clean and simple style, got variety of elements and potential to improvement. Good joob.

Shapeless Escape! by A333 2016-04-18T19:14:00

Weblink is fixed. Thanks Elemental Zeal and jdeuce!

Regarding features and more stuff, yes, as you can see in the initial concept:
http://ludumdare.com/compo/2016/04/16/gamedesigh/
there were many features planned, like morphing to barrels and enemies, water, fire and electricity traps.. but I was able to stop myself in time =)

Shapeless Escape! by A333 2016-04-19T06:11:00

Thank you everyone, it's very nice to know the game came out good.

@thunderklaus:
Hey, thank you. Yes, box pulling mechanic is something that's missing, however it should have been a problem only for the level 3 due to the badly designed 1st hole. On the level 2 you aren't supposed to move any of the boxes to beat the level 0_o

Scrapmetalship by Four Quarters 2016-04-19T20:40:00

I really want to give this game some love because of the wondeful art and music and mood, but as for now, it's nigh unplayable. You are left alone in seemingly empty space after picking up the second part, and flights are very long. Can't really believe you haven't seen this in playtesting.

The Cursed Forest by Gametery 2016-04-21T21:12:00

Very well done! I liked the music, and graphics/controls were pretty good for a jam.
Found one bug: when you turn to human while being on the water bottom, it's possible to go through the tile, and it's essentially game over because there's no reset button :(

The Cursed Forest by Gametery 2016-04-21T21:13:00

Shapeship by concalf 2016-04-19T17:31:00

Great game!
I like how your maneuver capabilities grow when you realize you can rotate engines to do fast turnarounds.

on the hunt by Sanguine 2016-04-18T18:57:00

Wonderful mood of the night hunt. After killing some critters it's nice to just run around.

No Turning Back by tgrehawi 2016-04-19T20:59:00

Very nice mood and excellent graphics!

Cucumber Cats: The Movie: The Game by LinealGames 2016-04-23T18:11:00

Extanation by Fake Unicorn 2016-04-23T17:45:00

Looks like it's almost inspired by Josan Gonzalez' cyberpunk universe. Nice drawn and well animated. Music is great too.

However, there's almost no theme connection, you are often dying without any visible reason, and controlling robots is useless.

Unbecoming by tomlum 2016-04-22T19:56:00

Imagination!
Great game =) Very light-hearted mood and positive feelings. Thank you for that.

BlowRider: Legends by WojtaW 2016-04-20T18:37:00

Game is fun and very dynamic. Graphics and sounds are juicy, controls are very good.
There's only that little thing, it suits previous LD theme (two buttons control + growing) much better.

ShapeShot by retrograze 2016-04-23T20:33:00

Very good implementation and dynamic gameplay. It's often the most important part, as the dynamic game even without top graphics will be fun. Good job.

Wizard Runner by Capt Nemo 2016-04-21T22:02:00

Dem clouds man. Dem clouds.
Nice entry, and it plays very well when you got grip on controls

Polymorph by motorherp 2016-04-18T20:40:00

Pretty nice graphics. Liked the dynamics too.
You sure know that including 100mb pdb debug files wasn't strictly necessary? =)

LD39 — Running out of Power

Modular Destruction Labs by SecondDimension 2017-08-03T16:50:45Z

Very interesting concept. I've had a lot of fun trying to minimize the energy cost and generally goofing around with various modules. Also, I must note an absolutely awesome music theme and very cool robot module design. Great work, guys!

Galvanica by icxon 2017-08-01T12:01:36Z

Thank you for the kind reviews! @togis Yes, character controls and feels a bit rough, sorry about that. Regarding difficulty - the game's supposed to be fun, easy and stupid, because hard challenge doesn't really work with this genre. @mortus Haha, thanks! You would not lose, of course, while you still have stuff to burn. Last chances dialog used to appear only if you have nothing to burn, but we've tweaked it to allow the player spare a single item. You know, to save a friend. You wouldn't burn a poor old Jenkins, would you?

Galvanica by icxon 2017-08-03T12:55:00Z

@nisco We mostly cannot express our gratitude to all players and to you in particular with mere words, but this shitty social relationship system forced us to make this useless reply about how happy we are.

Thank you! =)

Galvanica by icxon 2017-08-04T20:26:25Z

Thank you for kind reviews everyone!

@Gurvan yep, colliders could do some work.. but the decisions were made to improve other, more important areas. Indeed you could die, though you'll need to be very unlucky (or throw everything out from the ship)

Power Plant Simulator. by BroRawr 2017-08-04T20:40:58Z

The danger sounds and effects were super good =) Almost the same as in actual reactor room, when I... err.. nevermind. Gotta drink some coffee!

Great job, excelent urgency mood, and pressure's just right to keep you on your toes.

Super Energizer by Alex Walsh 2017-08-03T16:12:45Z

A nice first entry! I liked the ship animations and actually didn't expect you'd implement upgrades. It turned me into an unstoppable killing machine on lvl 3, so it was quite fun. Still crashed though.

All and all - nice work, keep it up!

Trials of the Vapor Lattice by oxysoft 2017-08-02T09:32:10Z

The most atmospheric game I've seen so far. Nice work with the textures, audio, and overall feeling. Also, thank you for the Easter egg tip =)

hypotricae by blackoptics8 2017-08-04T19:10:14Z

Very nice looking draft. I'd love to play an actual game in this aesthetics.

I think you know that already, but the whole point of LD is to make a complete game. It was immensely useful for me as a gamedesigner to spend less time in areas I was confident in and to make a complete game even if it art would suck or sounds would be stingy. And from that point I was able to move towards making more complete games - but they start to be better. Sorry if it feels like a lecture. I'd be really happy to play the game you'd make next time.

Running Voltgun by sinclairstrange 2017-08-03T15:54:29Z

So, Sonic meets Contra meets Gunstar Heroes? Count me in. Even though you always display a great deal of polish, this time you've improved immensely. I'd really like to know how do you manage to draw so many assets in so little time. For the nits, low power mode feels unnecessary, as it you potentially lose more battery if you don't dispatch enemies quickly. Or it might be just my playstyle. All in all, 5 stars earned.

Small bug: some of the lava pools miss the danger collision boxes in Temper zone 1

Cyberhell Cleaner by EricQuagmire 2017-08-01T16:25:29Z

Wow, so nostalgic! Reminded me of 95's 'Abuse' for some reason. Probably the mood. Super cool music - fits the theme perfectly. Nice job.

Does the game end though? I've got a stupid death on wave 7..

Dauntless Run by Ninjascribble 2017-08-04T21:08:16Z

Very good and catchy game. Cool graphics and fun gameplay - nice twist on shmups there. Evading hostiles became a little luck-based on high speeds though.

Solar-Powered Guns by eva 2017-08-01T19:48:53Z

I've played with this music =D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnT7cfYd2u8

Very nice art and animations. It's interesting to play, and charge stations mechanic is an solid take on the theme.

But movement is really slow =)

Thermal Power Plant K-13 by Finlal 2017-08-04T19:31:36Z

I've had a lot of fun playing this game. Graphics are superb, nice strategy feel, lots of interesting stuff to find and explore.

The only nit is the grinding and difficulty issues. Far too easy to lose in the beginning, just because you've met several wolves and miss food/fuel necessary for another trip. And tediousness of the beginning stage discourages from taking another try.

Fuse Cell by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-08-04T18:17:24Z

That was a nice experience! Cool pixelart, good work with foreground/backround layers makes the levels truly alive. Awesome balance between charging and shooting dynamic! Something many games here with power meters fail to achieve. Power charging seems just right - it's necessary but not annoying.

I've got a lot of NES Talespin nostalgia from this game because of overall mood, music and lightheartedness. Not sure if that was intentional =)

Almost nothing to advice here, apart from the slight collision problems (says author of 'Bump Into Everything: The Game'). Maybe.. scaling acquired charge a bit closer to chargemeter and adding something extra when you nail the sweet spot, like megaman-style one-time supershot would work nice here? Or maybe not, but you should definitely develop this further.

THIRST by Togis 2017-08-04T18:04:35Z

A very nice game! Solid gameplay and a lot of things, items (and enemies) to explore, which keeps the process interesting. Music was cheerful and fitting, and I liked your unique artstyle. Congratulations on the nice entry! Have you considered a way to allow people shuffling tiles, perhaps at water cost?

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-01T07:50:23Z

Very nice mood, sounds are appropriate, and of course, good job with the art assets. It's simple and it's complete, great LD entry. Congratulations!

For improvements, you might want to experiment with adding more game mechanics to the mix, maybe some sort of progress. Just something to consider in the future =)

Bounty by Gurvan 2017-08-04T20:35:07Z

A very nice game for a first entry, congratulations. There's an actual gameplay, you can lose, and graphics are very decent. Did you actually record the water sound yourself? If so, very cool! Hope you had some fun at this LD, definitely come back next time!

Bounty by Gurvan 2017-08-04T20:35:08Z

Despotism 3k by NikolayKuznetsov 2017-08-08T16:20:56Z

A nice and atmospheric game with a good deal of (grim) humor. Beautiful pixel art was perfectly fitting and haunting music also helped a great deal! Nice job! Reproduction facility gets a medal of 'Best Strategy Building on LD39'.

The Light City of Karola by davidcollado 2017-08-04T19:50:10Z

Awesome graphics! Neat minimalistic style, allows for faster level design since you don't need a background. I'll remember this solution =)

For a platformer, controls were absolutely adequate, no problems whatsoever. I liked some of the tricks you've implemented, like a far zoom to counter for limited exploration, or the power meter visuality. Great work, congratulations!

Super Power Frenzy by AlexanderTeaH 2017-08-01T21:09:42Z

Cool graphics, absolutely nice music. Great death handling - allows to learn all the mechanics without being annoying. Well-polished game. Minor nit: some enemies were harder to see because of the darker color.

Robocre:8 trials by RNGSilvercraft 2017-08-08T16:54:53Z

I'll be honest, I didn't expect your entry to be so well made. You've took a simple idea and exploited it from many different angles, offering different gameplay while keeping the basic skillset. That's a major feat, congratulations. Different enemies, mechanics, levels keep the game engaging, and weapons, oh god, they just keep upgrading. When you think: okay, that's the last power level, there's 5 or six levels more. Great job, rating well earned!

The Breach by Vlad Chechyotkin 2017-08-01T14:47:01Z

Great pixel art! I like your approach to the theme. Nice touch with the oil particles, too.

I'd probably balance enemies to be a bit more easier, but add some kind of penalty to death. Even a simple thing like enemy health regeneration would help preventing the grind fest - run, make one punch, die, repeat - but with your current enemy AIs that would be too hard. But that's good - there's always potential for improvement.

PRAY FOR TESLA by slovnoslomo 2017-08-05T08:07:11Z

Outstanding concept backed up with a nice and clean design. Entry level is a bit high (which is usually bad for us LD folks), but if you choose to invest some time, it's satisfyingly rewarding to play.

I assume shielded ships require to be fired from behind, but it feels kind of overpowered right now. other than that - nothing bad to say.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Shoot off their lumps by pixeye 2017-12-05T15:36:22Z

Visuals and mood are superb. Solid five stars here, top work, good job. Nice work with posteffects, too. Handling and shooting feels good, but I'm not sure low ammo/high error cost works well here, just because monsters are very fast. Perhaps, reloading to full extent at the ammo stations would make things a bit better?

Also, not sure if bug, but enemies often spawn on my head, killing me instantly when I enter the room.

Headstuck by fullmontis 2017-12-07T20:51:25Z

It started like your usual visual novel, with choices and stuff, but then the thoughts begin to move and I was like "oh shit!" and it was a pure emotional rollercoaster from here till the happy end.

Thank you for such a nice game!

Super goblin tower by uchiro 2017-12-07T19:53:21Z

Hahaha, I love it! The sounds are perfectly fitting the amusing and jocular art style, and the whole crazy idea of dropping piles of goblins to reach the moon is not something I'd be able to came up with ever =) Excellent work.

Horny Bunny by Thomas FUentes 2017-12-06T17:44:49Z

Borderline scandalous! and I like it =)

And that gameover, oh holy spaghetti monster, that gameover..

Lamattractive by Pandanym 2017-12-05T16:29:37Z

Excellent work! Finally I've managed to beat it! ..Wait, you can attack? Oooooooooh......

CTRL FRK by slovnoslomo 2017-12-06T08:46:18Z

As an (A)rt person, I'm offended! It should rotate around much crazier.

But seriously, this is frighteningly close to the real thing. Good job.

Galactic Avaritia by Zatherz 2017-12-05T13:38:32Z

A nice game! Got obliterated by boss couple of times, but had a lot of fun overall. Interesting approach to the theme as well. It plays a bit like "spend your skill points to max hp or attack/rate/speed", and I usually do so in the first 10 secs then proceed to bullet hell. Did you consider powerups to be destructable?

A WIZARD STOLE MY CLOTHES by jellycopter 2017-12-07T19:22:04Z

Omg, I loved that run animation! Gameplay wise - it's a solid runner with a twist, maybe a bit repetitive at times. I'd make levels half as long, just to let the people enjoy a bit of variety. And, like @swen said, 2->3 lvl has quite big speed change.

Shapes Are Mean by BlakeMcDeezy 2017-12-07T18:53:40Z

Gameplay was quite unusual. Controlling two beams definitely presents a fair bit of challenge. I liked graphics - they were simple, yes, but nice and clear.

P.S. Never ever ever ever ever ever do an unclosable timed screen on exit. That's just plain rude.

LD42 — Running out of space

Deadlock by Geckoo1337 2018-08-15T09:43:57Z

I have to say it's a really great entry. Aesthetics are awesome and the way you did them is also astonishing. Puzzles were really challenging, but fair. I'd also really like to know how you got that ambient noise, it really reminds me of my older machine with the floppy disk drive.

Also I'd be really happy to see the updated scripts, but just wanted to note that you are also obliged by the rules to share source code the way it was written for compo.

POLYARNIK by icxon 2018-08-15T21:17:20Z

Thank you everyone for your kind reviews!

@iarzu hahah yeah, I wasted 4 hours on one animation and didn't had time/strength to do 2 more, even though vertical walk is usually easier to draw.

@hegemege sadly, UI was neglected a bit as well =( Was busy making combo events tracker instead (like kicking back a penguin that was kicked by another player, or colliding two penguins by kicking them at each other)

POLYARNIK by icxon 2018-08-16T14:43:07Z

@geckoo1337 Who said they're animals? they are obviously alien robots from outer space.

@historymaker118 yes, the game's not exactly optimized *looks at the code mess* yep. totally not. Chrome might be a bit better option, but decent GPU is required for comfortable play.

@yami-no-tenshi-8 Nice mention of score. It was supposed to create a balance between the need to win and getting highscore. As far as I can see from your screenshot, it worked =)

Speed-Shooter by coomzy 2018-08-14T17:10:28Z

Surprisingly tight controls and good feeling for a quick-made speed shooter. Won't pretend I'm good at FPS those years, but still was fun to play. It's great that you didn't give up and made a game despite not being able to follow theme. Good job!

Space Lost by rakart 2018-08-14T16:53:09Z

Nice graphics, I liked the character design especially. Gathering tiles and managing your way forward was fun, if only a bit slowly paced to my taste. I also liked that you could choose how big the tile should be, balancing between resources and reliability, though building as little of a block as possible didn't seem to be much punishing. The level with the long floorless corridor, however, was a bit too tedious due to basically doing the same action over and over with no error margin at all. Couldn't beat it no matter what after 8 tries. Perhaps, splitting it to have some breathing room or even make it half as long would help there.

Ultimate Boss Battle of Doom by Gurbx 2018-08-14T20:52:21Z

Half-naked bodybuilder on a pogo stick pushing bombs around to fight an ultimate boss? count me in.

I've seen a lot of LD weirdness, but your games always stand out with their balance of originality and polish. Great job! And your graphic skills became better, too. Nothing major to say in terms of criticism, but if I'd need pick a thing that needs to be changed, it would be to prevent enemies from spawning under you in the final phase - it's hard enough as it is =)

Nice idea with making very simple mechanics work very good. The face art is also quite memorable. Great job! Just throw in some content and you got yourself a solid mobile game.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Cute Army Conquest by MestreRothLD 2018-12-05T19:24:10Z

Feels really cute and shiny, very mobile-ish =) Completed from the polish standpoint, but I'd gladly play couple more levels and maybe some additional mechanics. Anyway, it's definitely a feat to be able to pull something like that in 72 hours. Nice job!

haeresis by kloscunha 2018-12-04T20:13:29Z

It's very moody, eerie and mystical. I like it. A good narrative, and great atmosphere. It was a pain to walk around so slowly (which is not something you can change without ruining the mood), but I did it several times because it was interesting and captivating.

Castaways by DeadlyAlive 2018-12-04T19:46:14Z

I like the visuals, especially the people avatars. Easy mode was a little bit too easy (which made the cannibalistic options a little bit far-fetched, as if the narrator was really into eating people and nudging me towards it). Also it was sometimes strange why they keep eating fruits first. Specifics of the chosen resource management conventions I guess. Overall, a neat game =)

Ludum Dare: The Game by Darylsteak 2018-12-04T14:40:56Z

You don't need to sleep and eat! You only need determination! (based on the personal experience. please do not try this at home)

I loved the visual aesthetic: kinda reminded me of the 90x software era =) and of course, very accurate representation of the LD process. I only wish you could participate as a team and manage the 'what do you mean we are not making a platformer?" when already 48 hours in.

Fishy Rescue by Nelson William 2018-12-05T19:35:19Z

Hahaha, it was a bit silly, but much more fun than I'd expected. I know you didn't made the music but it fits damn near perfect =) awesome job.

Endless Nungeon by Haustgeirr 2018-12-05T19:45:38Z

Damn you cultists always being a step forward from me in terms of abilities! Nice work with graphics and game pacing, game always keeps you on your toes. I actually like that mechanic, but most keep/sacrifice combinations make the game impossible to play, i figured only a couple which would allow you to be alive for 6-7 levels. And also sometimes you die instantly while being in full health. Otherwise - a great entry!

Out Of Power by Mathis BRESSAUD 2018-12-05T18:40:40Z

You've got a good idea and nice graphics =) and I liked the music tune a lot. Didn't expect the ability to sacrifice the left controller, nice touch. I also found it a bit too hard, especially due to enemies moving aggressively backwards since you cannot reliably keep a steady flow without avoiding damage, and slowly shooting them from safe positions doesn't really fit the game's implicated fast pacing. Besides, they take two bloody hits to kill =)

The Astonishing Airscapade of Sir Bittergloom by Yuri Yakovlev 2018-12-04T21:34:02Z

Great job with the art and music. Idea of staying afloat by sacrificing stuff is nice, although I'd prefer having some more breathing time or slower pacing overall, as sometimes you die almost immediately before you have a chance to drop the closest thing to a mouse, let alone think about what you have to save. Same goes for interaction itself, as you rarely have time to do both lighter and altitude control.

I'd advice to be more benevolent and forgiving to the player, and always remember about difficulty/skill skew you get from essentially training in your game for three days straight vs me, the humble ludum darer who sees your game the first time ever, and has to see and rate many more. Although we all sometimes can be bad at handling that skew =) testing on other people during dev can help a lot.

Lighter Than Air by simon.parzer 2018-12-04T18:17:08Z

Very nice and easy to learn idea with a cute implementation, which also happen to exploit the theme in a rather dynamic way. Fun to play, nice music and adoring little touches (such as whoosh sound passengers make when you throw them). Thank you, had a good time playing.

LD44 — Your life is currency

RAD MAC by jsmars 2019-05-03T13:43:29Z

Great graphics, nice music, and as an old time carmageddon fan, I approve the idea of mandatory blood collection for the sake of children. Plus it's always nice to see the FNA game out there =)

P.S: don't forget that you need to rate more games to be eligible for results.

Transaction Packed by Matthew McClure 2019-04-30T18:15:12Z

You've got stylish graphics, and that's an interesting take on connecting money and health. I'm not sure the idea of counting and planning your movements works well with real time fighting against enemies not bounded with the grid, though.

Guardian Sphere by Pixel-boy 2019-05-01T10:50:15Z

You've done a great job =) It's really fun to play and explore different stuff in the shops. Balance feels just right, and amount of content is incredible. I do miss the sounds, and sometimes the arrow keys stuck, which costed me couple of lives. Other than that - I was super happy to play it!

The Grim Tower by Drunk Wizard 2019-04-30T17:53:33Z

Oh man, I wanted to rate as many games as possible, and the very first one got almost all of my free time.

It's probably something I always wanted to do myself. Graphics are minimal, but nice, and I like the conquering mechanics. Positioning really plays the role, but without, say, field obstacles it kind of deteriorate to a single winning strategy - place everyone far back, group enemies around ghosts, spell big tight groups to death. Other than that, balance feels right, maybe just a bit on the harder side. Great job!

The Grim Tower by Drunk Wizard 2019-05-01T09:40:29Z

@drunk-wizard makes sense. I've just lost count how many times we wrote A* from scratch =) it's kind of nice to write just the simplest approach and make it work.

What was your favorite winning strategy, btw?

Removed by Cuppycat 2019-04-30T18:48:37Z

Steady and meditative. Makes you think about life and stuff. Especially when you've slept 4 hours in 2 days. I like it.

Backtracking (backcrawling?) was long, and some animations might be faster, I guess, but they were smooth and nice to watch (well maybe jump was a bit silly), and the music was pretty, so I didn't mind.

Heart Sacrifice by Predrag 2019-04-30T18:26:07Z

Yeah, I also loved the graphics very much, and wish I could play it more, but errors make this impossible - blue slime always crashes on me. No rating, will get back to check later.

VELOCE by torfi 2019-10-08T08:40:14Z

That's an awesome entry. Solid gameplay core and great visuals to accompany it, highly addictive and challenging. Gotta play some more!

Guns & Stuff by matharoo 2019-10-08T08:34:52Z

Engaging and fun to play shooter with an unique atmosphere. Every item really feels as a gameplay changer, enemies are fun to deal with, gameplay itself feels fair, and save points work great to eliminate frustration over death.

I'd be thoroughly captivated if not for couple of things breaking the mood, e.g a rubber-ducky pistol sound felt a bit out of place. And the ending was a huge letdown for me, sorry. You don't wrangle the control out of player arms like that without a good reason to do so.

Terminal Reset by fusionnist 2019-10-17T08:19:02Z

Great game, folks! I must admit I really like your style, and music was really adding to atmosphere. Nice idea with the hacking required to obtain your body control back, never seen that before. Shooter levels were fun, and I greatly adore the enemies design. The only complaint was that they were a bit tedious β€” for a jammer it's sometimes hard to spend more than 10-15 minutes per game, so I'm happy that you've included health regen. But if I'd be you I'd tune enemy health down even further. User-testing might've pick that one up, don't know if you had time for that, but it's usually a good idea to obtain as much playtime from non-devs as possible during the jam, even at the cost of content.

As I said, I really like the idea of two gameplay styles mixing together, and it was a bit sad that the real world was merely a convoluted progress bar between shooter levels, I'd be happy to have more action there as well.

The Firebrand by selkkie 2019-10-08T18:36:35Z

Besides the control problem with the book, the only thing that left me furious was the time limit. I mean, probably it was necessary to create tension and make players do wise choices, but for me it's on 90% a guessing game. I am angry because I liked the aesthetics and writing a lot, and it was genuinely interesting to learn more about the plot, but the time limit kind of kept me from having it in my own tempo. Or maybe I'm just bad at that sort of games. Β―\\_(ツ)_/Β―

The Firebrand by selkkie 2019-10-08T20:05:10Z

@dwam no problem absolutely. Sorry for going rough on you, it's only because I loved the game so much =)

Desert Tiles by Wubbl 2019-10-08T18:14:49Z

Great relaxing entry. Plants management was quite interesting. Waiting and watching them grow was surprisingly engaging thing to do.

I also encountered a problem when the plants disappeared, and maybe because of that, of maybe because my single pine tree refused to give the seeds till the end, I wasn't able to win.

Spellody by EvilScotsman 2019-10-08T08:11:49Z

Interesting idea. I like how your attack resonates with the background track. Combat is quite difficult to grasp though. It's not a bad thing per se, but it might be better to ease incoming difficulty even more, like 1 note, 1 enemy at first.

I can't seem to figure out how to rotate camera, was it intentional? At some point level design obstructed the enemies. Sorry, I'm a bit stupid and tired after jam, so can't figure that out.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Unit 21 by a333 2020-04-27T21:09:31Z

@ulcius thank you for the great feedback! Ideally, I'd rather lay out levels and mechanics so they could be learned one at a time. But I never had enough time to implement that. There are some bugs as well, as you noticed in p. 2. As for 3, there was a big piece cut out when you manage how many people stay to fix the bot, and how many go forage. Right now it's always 50/50 - so if you have someone in your bot, you can leave.

Until We Freeze by icxon 2020-04-21T14:49:40Z

Really liked what you did here with the atmosphere - and while using only standard assets too! This game feels and plays as a finished piece. Great job.

Abandoned by GRaAL 2020-04-21T14:52:33Z

What can I say, the mood is superb. And Even though you think your sprites are simple, they have unique style and aesthetic, which holds the mood even tighter. Levels were clever, some required quite unusual thinking, but nothing too hard that my tired brain couldn't handle - which is perfect.

Except for the ending =) I wasn't able to find the multiple endings by myself because I'm stupid =)

The Storm by NvrSkipGameDay 2020-04-27T21:25:22Z

As many others said, you have a really great taste in art style, and all in all - this is a complete game, with challenges, enemies, controllable hero and lose condition. And it's also beautiful and unique. Congratulations on completing the jam!

RoboJump by interface 2020-04-28T21:51:16Z

Not many people can pull of the level editor during the compo. It's a great feat! I really liked the graphic design of protagonist, with those cute little animations. And sound was hilarious as well =)

I did figured out the starting level, but couldn't pass through the level 1 because I didn't realize you can actually remove blocks! Should've go through that tutorial first =)

PlayBack by Joe Cowman 2020-04-29T18:45:00Z

That was really beautiful experience. I almost felt being there, watching that TV. I'm really happy on how it ends, too. Was it a child fantasy? Real thing? Day dream? Doesn't matter, it's just one of the childhood summer mysteries. Kind of envy that you was able to capture that feel. Mad respect.

Gameplay wise, your mechanics felt really smart and fresh. I thought about mouse controls, but keyboard fits better with the theme. Levels were nicely designed, too. My only complaint is that the whole game level sequence felt like a good tutorial and just one level after - which was a bit harder than expected. But give the complexity of mechanics, I'm surprised you've managed to make and test that much in the.. `*checks*` ..compo!? Damn, that's respectable.

Oh well, I guess I've many things to learn and improve.

The Keep! It's Alive! by minibobbo 2020-04-29T19:05:42Z

Yea, I think it fits the theme perfectly. No problems here at all.

Cool execution of a simple yet catchy (ha!) concept. It was indeed a bit hard to get all of those pesky foodventurers running around, but it felt great to learn how to be better at it. Nice job!

Desktop Garden by 0x0 2020-04-21T19:01:29Z

Always wanted to make a desktop platformer, but kind of put away that idea due to render complications, and winapi makes me itch in general. I never thought I could pull that off in LD, but here's the second entry I know of that managed to do that perfectly.

Everything works smoothly, the mood is nice and meditative, the landing feedback on the windows, the graphics, oohhh, those pickup and explosion effects are sexy af. I love you and your game.

One change, if I'd be able to make, will be to increase the jump height slightly, to increase the playable area available without moving windows too much.

Sun up by Trigueiro 2020-04-28T21:13:45Z

Congrats on your first jam! Don't worry, it's okay to post incomplete games - it's even encouraged. After all, the most important things are to have fun, make something, and let people see it.

As for the game, you've had a good idea, and you've managed to get the most important part working - the car is moving and stops when in shadow. Initially I thought I need to keep the sun right over the car, but it didn't move, so then I moved the sun around and realized it reacts to actual shadows - so cool! Now, for the actual gameplay, the level was quite small, and there was not much necessity to move the sun at all - especially since you can move it over the road vertically so shadows dissappear. The distance also didn't matter as I expected - but that was probably due to the lack of time.

I'd recommend trying to allow only left/right movement, and maybe put the sun behind the buildings, which will make positioning matter more. If you play with the camera angles, maybe it might look just like the sunset ride.

Oh, and I liked the car model, too! Nice voxeling.

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-04-29T17:48:07Z

Absolutely great entry! I liked the gameplay dynamics, and your pixel art was really nice. You even managed to do a crying animation - that made me real sad in the end.

Details wise, controls and shooting were solid, and I wasn't upset much by 8-way shooting at first. Duckling herd behaviour was a nice chaotic touch too - although sometimes irrritating, as for me they seem to heavily prefer drifting towards a top left corner, where I couldn't defend them.

There's good difficulty and bad difficulty; limiting player controls is usually perceived as bad. Even more so when it is combined with game behaviours like aforementioned one: I need to move around -> sometimes to left and top -> that causes ducklings to go more and more upward and to the left -> I need to move more -> they end up in the corner -> I lose -> I feel cheated / punished. This could be learned and compensated, of course, but this exact feature didn't feel much fun to learn - good sign of a bad difficulty.

I'd recommend you to enable 360 aim, and then try and make your game hard without limiting the player, or with doing that in such a way that the limit is perceived as a consequence of his/her own actions. This is hard to pull off, but is much more rewarding. If you insist on keeping the retro feel, though (and I understand why you'd want to do that), you might need some kind of solution for herd control.

Sorry for the rant (but you signed for it, no refunds). If that wasn't obvious, I really liked your game =)

Pug Panic by Alex Davies 2020-04-28T21:31:36Z

That's going to be my first solid 5 for theme on this LD. Great job.

Now about that shattered monitor and broken mouse you owe me..

Come to Mama by Louis hayes greenwood 2020-04-29T18:56:19Z

Hmm. I swear I left some feedback 5-6 days ago, when the blocks were still picked up automatically. Just to recap, I really liked the sound theme, together with sounds it was a bit irritating, but in a good way? I don't know how to explain it, but the whole game felt like some weird mix of pain and pleasure, good stuff and bad features, cute and bloody. Gameplay itself, I never seen anything like that in real time, so it broke my brain a bit, but I did finished the game, and was quite happy about it afterwards.

Now, this version feels more polished, and there's less of that weird mix, which is sad since a) I liked it and b) I'm personally against this kind of polishments made after the jam, since, as you can see, even such "harmless" changes can change how the game feels drastically.

Correct me if I'm wrong and you did no changes after the jam, but I definitely played this one before.

DIABLOW: Savior of the Damped by SubtlyDramatic 2020-04-28T21:19:13Z

Congrats on the completion! Great choice of music, mad props if you also did it during the jam. I liked the spritework as well, and both controls and difficulty were just right. As people said, sounds are a bit jarring. It's usually a good idea to allocate time and give game for playtesting during the jam - that feedback really helps to identify the main problems.

DIABLOW: Savior of the Damped by SubtlyDramatic 2020-04-28T21:55:45Z

@subtlydramatic yeah, that's exactly the issue of feedback. If no one during playtesting likes the sounds, most probably tired, sleepless, game-saturated herd of LD jammers won't appreciate it as well. But hey. Director decisions are director decisions =)

fitting username btw.

Reckless Brave by dimlight 2020-04-21T14:08:00Z

Awesome idea =) some level designs were really clever. Others (like the first one with the star) felt more like bruteforcing the correct position due to the quirky jumping. Quite smart and nice-looking, sounds were top-notch as well.

Botanico by Martynas 2020-04-21T13:37:25Z

Great piece. I loved the shooting effects and smooth controls. It required a bit of mastering to keep more than 5 flowers, so difficulty might be a little bit hard, but squishing stacks of insects towards the end of game was really satisfying.

Coldman by NightJolt 2020-04-29T18:19:37Z

Cool survival game =) You've managed to do several production chains and balance them together quite nicely. I figured it out relatively quickly, although the watering part took some time. As I said, the item/time/movement balance was pretty tight, and since you have no inventory, you have to constantly manage items in various states - so at times it felt a bit like Alaska juggling simulator =) It's a good thing for a core loop, it makes player constantly busy. The only thing is that this high-agitation state couldn't be mantained for too long, so if you'd want a longer playtimes, you might need to add some breather rest periods and maybe some kind of higher-level progression, like unlocking new tools / seeds / inventory logs / ground patches.

apples by Space Nomad 2020-04-28T20:58:15Z

First of all, nice job! I also got into a trap of "I can get a playable prototype in a first day", and ended up with more than twice that time, haha. But you've managed to complete the game, that's really great.

Mechanics wise, I struggled a bit with a lack of visual feedback between holding rock / holding apple states, but the game was simple enough to figure everything out. The level design was quite clever, you've nailed some "aha" moments and tension for reaching that apple in the last possible second in several areas was good. And I liked the clarity of sprite design - while it was simple, I'd never mistake enemy for friend, and vice versa. I felt like apples should be also thrown like rocks, but for some reason you've made a shortcut for that.

As for music, well.. it's irritating. Some people would say that it's better to go without any music than including something written badly, but I'll disagree. Making complete game includes audio, so it's a good thing you've allocated time to do that. As for the quality - there's always room for improvement. I'd recommend some pre-harmonized samplers and loopers like https://www.incredibox.com/ to get something simple and fast.

The Flamethrower by Feingehacktes 2020-04-22T19:42:41Z

That was unexpectedly impressive lengthwise platformer with some clever level design. I must admit it took me some time to figure some of the puzzles out. Graphics are quite clear and neat, everything was super intuitive to play, great job!

ΠΈΠΈΠΈ.png Now that was absolutely fun and addictive. Great setting as well =) Great choice of palette and absolutely beautiful sprites.

Sometimes it felt like the game was impending me (namely, when I tried to aim to that one sweet spot and spore flew somewhere else), but the amount of spores and ease of their deployment helped alleviate that. I also liked the fact that deploying towers was costless.

Sly as a fox by KarCode 2020-04-28T21:38:37Z

Good game for the first entry! You even managed to get menu done, that's something even veterans sometimes slack on =) The game itself looks pretty good - I liked the hero sprite, and animations were a nice touch. Controls felt a bit strange, especially jump, which sometimes didn't work properly. Platformers are deceptively hard genre to pull off, specifically because every little control bug can impact how the whole game feels. But apart from that, everything worked well. Great job!

RatJar by PolyOrbit Studio 2020-04-21T19:43:10Z

Excellent entry =) I was captivated by rolling and smashing for a good 20 minutes. And just when I thought the level was small, turned out it was just a first checkpoint. Also, you did a great job with the camera. The difficulty was quite high however. Some glancing light tappings would sometimes smash the vase. Also, despite the great camera work, sometimes the angle made the things unnecessarily difficult (like a diagonal red tent in the beginning of the 3rd section. But it was a really satisfying and pleasurable experience otherwise! Great job.

@aterlamia yeah, it was added like 5 minutes before release, but I ended up enjoying the fact that it's basically keyboard controlled - once you get used to it, you can have perform some cool stuff on the go. It's probably not quite accessible for the 5-minutes LD play sessions, though. My mistake.

Solar Edge by mar3k 2020-10-06T21:45:38Z

A great game with a cool narrative and palpable sense of urgency. I very much loved the tiny hex tiles.

Kinda angry and sad, because it's really nice and I want to explore it further, but the difficulty is off the charts. Never survived past the second planet, and I have to move on to play other games. I wish it has more forgiving error margins, or a lower difficulty options.

Ambient guitar track - mad props.

Tempus Locus by MSiddeek 2020-10-09T06:49:46Z

That's absolutely awesome. I haven't had much problems with FPS (I was too enamored by mechanics :), but is it expected to see black screen after the emerge level? Hero raises the staff, I hear the rewind sound, and everything goes black (although I can press R and hear the restart). I've played on Firefox, and there are some texture errors in console.

Infinite Wheel by Nimerya 2020-10-07T18:41:58Z

Great take =) congratulations! I'm not good with that kind of games, but managed to get to 40s. Then I dropped off the wheel, unable to tolerate more than 5 spikes. Liked the character animations, btw.

Loopback by Dj Depressive 2020-10-07T19:30:27Z

Sorry, I don't want to give you some "nice graphics, great mechanics" shit, I liked the game, so I'll just stream my honest thoughts directly. Maybe you can find it useful, maybe not, whatever.

`%stream starts%` > Finally, a tactical game! With the team of differently able operators, no less! I'm so excited. Okay, the walking seems pretty straigtforward. Cool, I can rewind! Niiiice smooth effect.

> No enemies nearby, let's end the turn. `*shooting sounds*` What? where did you come from?

> Ok, the second turn, let's kick some ass, blue 1 go go! how do I shoot? I just.. click? Ok, apparently. *some weird stuff happens, apparently, because I cannot in my life predict how enemies would move*

> What's next? wait, replay starts from turn 1 instead of where I left? that's.. not very convenient.

> Sniper shots are cool. Too bad I cannot see where I'm shooting. Although I can go look, rewind and aim, hmm...

*after that I've re-read the instructions and felt some shame about shift key.

> Tough guy activated shield. Cool, shield is damageable! nice effect. Oh wait, he is chonk and stuck in the corridor now. Rewind cannot pull his ass back out, he's apparently too heavy for the temporal generator! **Sir, we have a problem..**

> Oh what's that in the end? a boss? I'm gonna unload everything! It's going to be an epic fight! it's.. wait he just died?

> ..ok, the zone is clear, what do I do next? guys? guys?.. `%stream ends%`

Replays from the start majorly suck, 1) because I'm tired seeing same events again and 2) they are not really consistent, one time my guy is killed, the next loop he's alive and well! Action feedback is also really required here to be able to play somewhat predictably. Also, some explanations about units and abilities will be nice. You've made a hell of a lot of abilities/secondary fire options, but I cannot really know how and when to use them.

Otherwise - nice graphics, great mechanics, got quite a bit of fun out of it <3

Re-Peter by Abdul Zakkar 2020-10-06T20:12:01Z

You know, for only 3 levels, you've managed to balance the game almost perfectly - the tutorial, the learning, the test - and the last one requires some outside of the box thinking. Great job!

Again by alvmivan 2020-10-06T19:59:42Z

I'm.. not sure what happened, but time warp was quite pretty! Died couple of times while looking at it. Did you use my past self movement as enemies? If so, it's really cool!

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-08T19:59:04Z

Contract Killer by jeff0029 2020-10-06T19:17:37Z

haha, those pew pew balls were fun to play with. Also, nice accent ;)

Good job on completing the game! making a good shooter AI isnt something I've ever considered doing on compo. And also.. LD29? damn. Welcome back after the long skip!

Retro Loop by Minos_L2b 2020-10-06T19:09:09Z

Congrats! you did well. I like the looping inertia motion and the fact that you can have multiple tries on your objective.

As you make more games, you might want to put some time to give it to play testers and adjust difficulty based on feedback. It might feel easy for you, but remember you have far more experience than those who play for the first time.

PS? I wish LD has some kind of play testing hour in the middle of the event, but most of the game makers are usually.. super preoccupied, to put it lightly.

Doodle-Oop! by Hank Ather 2020-10-06T19:38:31Z

Absolutely adorable graphics, and interesting take on the loop theme. Your control scheme might be tuned and explored further, but nevertheless, I've had a great deal of fun playing with it.

BL0CK by GregoryBlomquist 2020-10-06T20:35:56Z

I'VE NEVER BEEN SCARED BY THE RECTANGLE SO MUCH ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?

Alright, on a serious note - best one I've seen so far. Whisper really seals the atmosphere. As for the difficulty, well, Аtari style demands tough difficulty and figuring the game out, so I'm ok with it.

P.S. Found the manual. It's a bliss to read. Thank you.

Stealthy Suspect by Skiwee 2020-10-06T19:47:03Z

Those vocal samples are lit (even if it's not yours you still pick it ;). And the game is mad as my morning espresso! Absolutely greeat idea with level scaling. Not sure if I'm stuck or not, some levels doesn't seem beatable, so probably I am (or may be I need to git gud). Congrats!

Takinfin by BEK 2020-10-08T19:29:07Z

wow, that's a nice game =) Hello, fellow tank game builder. Kind of expected tanks from the cover image, but the graphics was nice as they were.

I personally prefer faster bullets - we usually do that by applying bigger values through RigidBody.AddForce - but for some games authors deliberately prefer slower bullets so player has to shoot where enemies would be. I also liked the way you can hit yourself in the ass with your own bullets, very interesting =) it doesnt hurt you, which is good - I tend to forget to set proper damage logic sometimes.

Bullets also tend to collide each other, believe it or not, we also had the same problem in our game. It was solved by setting collision layers, because otherwise you can't do stuff like miniguns.

Html5 version is really useful, because many people are tired after LD and don't really want to go extra steps of downloading games - we also learned that lesson over time. Just remember that web build should be made early - they tend to have some nasty problems which might not happen in the editor.

Good game!

@strangeryann wow, didn't expect this lovely piece of feedback. Sure thing, we'll be happy to. I'll try to gather some stuff for you.

As for the high score - it's totally possible to beat the game under 7 minutes (you'll get rewarded for 8:00 and lower). It's also possible to get stars and rewards for other two stats. And rewards give you a little bonus - for instance, red boots lessen fall damage significantly - you can keep them if you start NG+. But I won't spoil all of the rewards here)

@norris-eldridge @ghost-wave @fictions @thedupy124 @stin @jiri-hysek @khelian @brainloaf-studio

Thank you for all the kind words and precious feedback! You make us feel proud and happy!

@denilseven @m0dsat @lighty-the-light @morricore Thank you! Actually, 20-ish deaths and 15-min playtime is awesome result for the first-time players. Sorry for some levels being harder than others. They were much harder and went through many iterations of lessening the pain, but in the end we also ended up falling into difficulty bias.

@sherwin-claridge thank you! Btw what kind of controller it is? might be that I accidentally mapped escape on your start button.

@steve-dragon thank you very much. It does have music though πŸ˜€

@thebmxeur Much appreciated. Sorry for the lags, we just love hundreds of particles too much.

@themightytrout Thank you for returning and giving it another chance. It really means much for us.

@solah hehe! Congrats with your hard earned crown :) which pepper was the hardest?

Holey Hell by managore 2021-04-27T22:06:51Z

Dope little game! Masterfully crafted and menacing with spikes of white. Your visuals are always superb, and you rendered the theme perfectly.

Corpse Clue by nusan 2021-04-27T22:13:49Z

Certainly a very original idea. I suddenly discovered that I like hunting for clues in dessicated corpses. Mad respect for putting the lighting system together.

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-27T14:29:35Z

This game has so much goodness in it. Great art style, awesome animations, cute humor with just the right amount of innuendos mixed in. I loved the mechanics, I loved how you let me skip the previous levels with the alternate paths, I loved everything. Till the very last level and its starting edge. Reach for it my `***`. Whoever decided to put this in, and the rest of you who didnt stop the person - I'm not proud of you.

Anyways, GG WP, nice game. Music is much quieter than sounds for some reason - which is a pity cause I liked it very much.

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-04-27T23:36:02Z

Very beautiful, and exceptionally made. Most memorable moments were, of course bying the argon laser + turret speed, knowing that there's no threat anymore - and maxing out drill and carry upgrades. Bringing home that 12+ pack of resources was immensely satisfying - it's a pity it wasn't even necessary at that point. Kinda wish for more enemies and defences - but it's balanced well as it is.

I really liked the death animations too. Got some Heart of Darkness vibes from it =)

DOWNHELL by Belonzik 2021-04-28T07:43:18Z

I think, every LD game should have a game reviewer mode, haha. Actually, I enjoyed the challenge, but, as @warrrkus said, due to the way enemy spawns and how fast their projectiles fly it's sometimes near impossible to avoid damage, and it happens often enough before even the first shop, so there isn't much in terms of sustenance. Add the beam weapon nuances, which require holding aim and locks your movement while firing - and you've got a very difficult game to learn and tackle in 5-10 minutes of average LD reviewer attention span.

But screw the negative feedback, I've still tried to learn and play it because how stylish it looks. Controls, visual feedback, sounds, everything is really tight, nice work.

The Great Machine by zeoxo 2021-04-27T00:48:31Z

Absolutely loved the setting and execution. The stones effect, elevator music, just so damn good. The difficulty grind sure spiked a lot on the very second floors though. That platforming required some skills I do not posess.

dark mind by batiali 2021-04-27T22:54:48Z

Beatiful, haunting graphics and music supplement the dark mood. I don't really understand what was happening there, but it was stylish and nice to look at. I only wish I could participate more, I'm sure it was your decision not to let player shoot, but in the end it got a bit boring because of that.

Dwarf Inc. by Matthieu Riboulot 2021-04-27T12:55:43Z

I'm a simple man. I see the dwarf game, I play. Loved the numerous shoot-outs and log messages, everything was on point and goblins still stink. Gameplay was good enough, on the maximum speed it was a decent dvarfish frantic management simulator. Although events felt a bit interruptive at times.

Ore Lord by dimlight 2021-04-28T09:49:05Z

Loved playing it. It definitely felt a little on the easy side, but it's not a bad thing for LD game. Mad respect for the amount of content you've put in. Animations amount is truly huge.

Not sure if there should be some ending scene after I reached the final treasure. Enemies just kept coming.

Bumpy Drilly by Paul-Maxime 2021-04-27T00:34:01Z

I expected to jump and drill, but got a slow-slow drilling instead. But then it got faster! And then slower again. I hate those kind of games because of how addictive they are =) Also, ending got me scared to no end, when I realized I have to navigate my not-so-optimal maze which I obviously didnt bother to remember. Great mechanic.

Sporelunk by Brainloaf Studio 2021-04-27T13:19:05Z

Superb animations, tight gameplay, a bit more dependence on luck than I'd prefer, full of anxiety, trippy and scary as fuck. Awesome.

Btw don't forget that if you don't rate other games you won't get any ratings yourself

Into the Deep Web by Jon Topielski 2021-04-27T13:45:26Z

As I started to appreciate combat system flexibility, warmed up, hoped for the weird imageboards, forgotten tumblrs, myspace relics, personal webpages, the game ended just like that. I guess that's the only minus in this little gem of a compo. Thank you.

Deeper and Deeper into Outer Space by TheMightyTrout 2021-04-27T12:20:18Z

Congrats on completing the second jam! Sometimes it's even harder than the first one. Good stuff that you've made enough content in your game, different kind of obstacles, shooting, and even sounds and music. It's simple, engaging, and fun. And most importantly, it's a complete game.

Home Below by ilya096 2021-04-26T22:59:23Z

Good idea, and nice 3d work. Coral areas were quite interesting.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the gameplay. I felt the world too big for the amount of content in it, so swimming was boring for me. Which is sad, because swimming is what are you supposed to do in the game most of the time. So, after the 3rd bottle spawned even further than the second one, I had to stop playing. Maybe it's just not my genre, though.

Deep Rescue by denilseven 2021-04-26T22:27:52Z

Congrats on your first entry! It's a shame you didn't include the mood rating, because I really liked how you tied everything together, particles, music, fish, dying light and illuminators, the constant sense of descending down. I didnt really expect any interactions, so mines were both awesome and terrible - awesome because it added some skill requirements, and terrible because you only have 1 hp, and dying means diving from the start, which is ok, but not really fun to do twice. Otherwise - nice music, solid controls. Well done =)

Falling Bot by Phobos 2021-04-27T12:13:57Z

Excellent work with animations and graphics, and a cool environment too. I wish falling speed was a little slower, though. After all these jam hours I don't have enough brain cells to play hardcore games yet.

SPERMA by the neon shark 2021-04-26T23:38:28Z

Oh well, it wasn't half as bad as I expected! It's unusual to play with the swarm controls, and yours were executed quite well. I also liked the genetic nature of the gameplay, where more chaotic sperm got lost early, while more consistent ones stayed together till the end, although I'm not sure if that was truly the case, or just the impression.

My only complaint is that it's a bit too hard for Ludum Dare level of games. It required all the upgrades, quite a bit of luck and some grind to finally win.

@uraffululz may the bottom collider have mercy on them and let their souls ascend to DontDestroyOnLoad.

heat wave by gentoogames 2021-10-13T09:46:16Z

Weird and slightly chaotic, but still very much loveable and stylish! Got to 313 villagers, then it went off the hill =) Respect for vector-like graphics! Music has a nice potential to be synced with what's happening - sometimes it worked well, sometimes it kept tension even if everything was good and stable.

On little bit I missed and kept losing because of that is a better visual indication that fuel is going down in 10-ish seconds. It was hard to keep track on otherwise.

Cards In Your Hand by Ghost_Wave 2021-10-04T21:30:19Z

It was my dog all along!

A wurprisingly captivating journey. I've been playing much longer than expected, because combinations were plenty and interesting, and with just the right amount of unpredictability. The graphics also surprised me with abundance - you've managed to make quite a lot of assets for various moods. And of course, sound quality is superb. Rabbit theme is my favorite!

One piece of grudge is that you technically lose the moment you have 4 death cards. It seems to be not possible to deal with that situation.

.Script by Jega Studio 2021-10-04T21:13:59Z

Cool! I really like the stylish graphics and glitchy feel. Neat play with the theme, too! and I must say, the controls were also tight and top notch. Also, clever idea with the pad script under broken platform. I'd play more levels, for sure! Great job!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Closed Circle by boaromayox 2023-05-02T14:26:13Z

Awesome game, I had a lot of fun breaking the rocks and trying to escape in time. What was cool: loot, crawling, atmosphere, time pressure, occasional hourglass powders in rocks. What was not cool: enemies spawning 5 pixels in front of you and immediately pushing you off the cliff. Please don't do that =)

Also, door ate my gems and opened, I decided to explore a bit, only to find out later that it has closed and want more gems. Outstanding audacity.

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-05T11:03:10Z

I'm in love with the style. Awesome job with making all the little details like engine hum, parts wobble, track marks and voice work together in creating a beautiful experience. Got all the artifacts on the second try, and the ending was bittersweet but rewarding. Thank you!

Sisyphus - The Game by poupiste 2022-04-05T10:57:19Z

Paid Vacation by PoV 2022-10-05T18:14:30Z

Nice graphics. The mood is fantastic, and solid 5 for humor. Best game I've played this LD!

(I havent played any yet)

Twilight Souls by Yword 2022-10-09T14:43:59Z

Jeesus how did you manage to cram up so many mechanics in such a short time and polish everything? Awesome job, 5/5. Everything was intuitive, gameplay's tight and juicy, I've got a lot of fun.

Also kind of interested what did you use for VFX, just plain old particle systems / shaders?

Exorcist Patrol by PeachTreeOath 2022-10-06T06:47:12Z

That was so much fun to play. Never seen a concept like this before. The last ghost took me solid 15 minutes to figure out, but once I understood how utility spells like vortex worked, it became much easier to build combos. Probably might be a good mobile hit, you are definitely onto something here.

Nits: switching spells during play sometimes broke the sequence for 1-2 runs, but after that everything went smoothly.

Toad Cat's Cemetary Watch by 43sam 2022-10-07T11:54:18Z

Random order of promotions giving you completely different build every time is what got me. I even thought maybe the game should upgrade you the lowest stat once per 100 sec or so, but then it wouldnt be the same. One time I've got a devastating build that was really slow, and second I was hopping around like crazy but had almost no firepower. That's fun!

Boss Swap by Wilko 2022-10-05T18:25:38Z

Surprisingly solid boss rush. Kept me interested enough to win under 35 sec on Easy and Medium, and even played some on ultrahard (although for this difficulty I'd like one extra pass of input / hitbox / boss telegraphing polish). Great job) On a nitpick note, tutorial was a bit of a nuissance to play every time, and I wish boss fight started after 2-3 seconds, not 10.

LD53 — Delivery

Game Genie: Crunch Time by LandoSystems 2023-05-02T13:41:08Z

Holy 90s gaming, Batman. Seeing the old man from the Golden Axe was the last thing I expected. It's charming, if a bit chaotic and hard to control at times. Awesome music, too!

Delivery Drift by Cambryx 2023-05-02T15:00:41Z

5/5 everything. Car drift controller itself is worthy a full game. Music is superb. Art style is tasty and impeccable. Just *chef's kiss*.

Dirigible Delivery by aevek 2023-05-02T14:02:55Z

Flying ships! I never clicked on a game icon that fast) Just outstanding that you were able to pull that much off.

Islands, sound design and music - my deep respect, everything feels great. Ship model is just fantastic. And I loved the way you can control sails separately from engines, just the right balance between sim-ish and casual hold-W-to-fly mechanic. Ship travel feels a bit slow, even in the wind. I'm not sure if later upgrades will help with that but alas. I am but a weak average LD participant, I have an attention span of 10 minutes. Maybe I'll get back to this game once I rate enough projects and get some rest.

Commutator by Sodoj 2023-05-02T14:29:41Z

LD54 — Limited Space

Flower for Euridika by a333 2023-10-09T09:22:45Z

@mossgames @rumiaobsessed @mitch-miller Thank you for playing! Appreciate you found some good in it!

It was planned as "go around and click on everything" kind of atmospheric quest, but there's just not enough good content to keep players interested. It's going to my gallery of examples on "how not to plan LD game scope" =) I was able to figure out the story and write down all of the characters, but most of it didnt make it in the actual game.

Tele-Booth Knock Out by Edom Games 2023-10-06T07:44:07Z

It was really addictive. One particular match with 3 perfect haymakers felt sooo good. Also really nice music. Havent seen the credit so I assume you made it? really cool.

Couple of problems I had sometimes keys / actions seemed to lag, which is really noticeable in high-skill arcade games. And single level where opponent has more hp, for me it's just plain cheating =)

Excellent art and jokes! The first time disco police came after me I cannot resist a chuckle. And I liked the idea of dancing with various styles to blend in the crowd. Would be great to be able to move a little faster, but otherwise it's a great entry.

Infernoculus by icxon 2018-04-25T09:02:39Z

Thank you everyone for the kind words! It's really nice to hear that you've liked the game.

Unfortunately, we couldn't make some of the features in time, including KO win condition, better messaging of some features and faster game pacing; we all believe that it would not be fair to put them in now.

Some of the non-obvious features we heard about include: - changing AI/Human controls by clicking on upper portraits in select mode - canceling the ball kick (click on the hero).

If you notice something else that was not obvious or missing, please let us know. We also appreciate your thoughts on the balance and game pacing!

OUTLAW πŸš— MAYOR πŸš“πŸš“ PANIC! by 01010111 2018-04-25T17:34:12Z

Nice trick with the sprites! And the music/audio is super good. I like the building/pacmanesque avoidance aspect, however, after ~30 seconds of playing the game hangs and screen turns black, so I couldn't appreciate all of its goodness =(

MULLIGUN by those-30-ninjas 2018-04-25T17:47:53Z

Well, I'd never thought card based shooter could be that fun! Really liked the shuffling mechanics and looting new weapons! P.S. whoever came up with that mimics room idea... say hello to em from me.

Toppen Ultimate Anime Defense by DosWosh 2018-04-26T16:07:57Z

Well that was awesome! I liked just about everything in your game, including goofy audio, wonderful voxels, and, of course, all of the anime jokes! And it's surprisingly nice balances as a TD game. Nice job!

3 lives seems to be too smal for a luck based card draw, though =( all it takes is one particularly nasty wave. Mine was 23rd.

Super Soccer by comenoha 2018-04-26T20:25:21Z

DIG_POD by a333 2026-04-21T12:02:05Z

@laurlehepuu thank you. You indeed died from explosion, but there is another ending more suitable for peaceful research mission @anku thank you for feedback! I've tried to make the game not too hard for fellow oversaturated LD players, so it might've ended on an easier side. Lots of things to tweak for a proper experience! @rise12600 great feedback too, thank you! I've battled 'stuck on single pixel' problem a lot but ultimatately failed) same for ground hitting - could be relaxed further, but it was intended to be a challenging experience. End up being a bit of a frustrating one)

@corbak thank you! indeed you could, there's a !>peaceful ending if you don't kill the boss

DIG_POD by a333 2026-04-23T18:09:57Z

@universeflow @krakadushka ahah as you can see, difficulty is really hard to pull off right. For someone it's too easy, for someone its too hard. I wish I had time to add easy/normal/hard modes.

DIG_POD by a333 2026-04-25T22:18:33Z

@cat-in-hat-games Thank you very much for such a detailed review, it's a rare sight on Ludum Dare! Glad you liked the game, too!

There is a bit of mixup between temperature (hot terrain glows yellow) and monster blood, which is also yellow, this might create a confusion. Monster blood should be collectable even with tier2 dig tool, which you can upgrade at the very start. If it's not - its a bug.

For the signal theme, you need to listen a lot if you want to find all 3 hidden components and some medkits, but yes, that's it. Active listening was a feature planned, but I havent been able to do it in time. Same for making the terrain damage right. New version is much better and has sonar, but I wont publish it until LD is over, of course.

Second ending is my personal pain =) I thought that adding delay before explosion is a good idea, but it turned out to be a huge red herring. You are, in fact, a research vessel, supposed to immediately escape with report once you see the signal source (boss), not fight it. But when game conditions you to fight enemies from the start, it's quite nonintuitive.

FLOCX by jester1454 2026-04-23T18:39:21Z

Surprisingly fun and well done core loop. When I read the description and started palying, I didnt think it will work, but it did, and it was fun baiting enemies around while trying to survive. Great job!

Radio Silence Gone by Juutis 2026-04-22T13:03:15Z

Awesome shooter! The walls look really nice, great combo of 2D and 3D. A bit hard to orient without a map, but manageable. And got a little bit on a harder side with tons of machinegun enemies later on - I wish my sniper rifle had some penetration)

Yay a polyamory dating simulator! Got 4671 as my personal best! Gotta say i'm really bad at rhythm, colors and directions, but it was really fun to play!

The Light House Keeper by kenevil1 2026-04-21T13:07:07Z

Rusty salty brawler with some pretty darn good music! Fighting felt yarrrrr! Noisy walls blending with background felt uggh! 8/10!

Too Many Goblins! by Tykki19 2026-04-22T13:15:47Z

Wow, you've made a nice entry! graphics are really good, sound design is also great. I initially disliked the manual control, but then got a hang of it, and placing towers to create fire zones got really fun, and there is a lot of potential to add, like walling.

Overall great TD, I dont remember anything similar in TD Genre

Farwatch by Liquid 2026-04-22T20:13:26Z

Duude that's crazy work! it's almost fully featured RTS! even the flags to mark building spawn points! I'm in awe! Just opened Warcraft 2 OST on second tab and it was perfect.

The path finding hack though :))

Trash Friends by Axodo 2026-04-21T11:18:21Z

awww! Great improvement on classic mechanics and comics are incredibly well done and sweet =)

From the Abyss by Megurt 2026-04-21T12:41:13Z

Great game! Made it to the end after some tries. Upgrades really makes the challenge far easier (not a bad thing for LD game)

One of the serious issues I wanted to underline is that the game is almost unplayable for colorblind people.

Infrequency by Caer 2026-04-23T18:06:38Z

You know, this is a solid and pretty damn nice renderer. Things like these are great foundation for unique games. But you got to invest the same amount of work or even more into gameplay loop. You have great potential here, make sure to use it =)

Signal King by Tetramollaxx 2026-04-21T12:17:28Z

That was quite original experience, never seen something like it. Impressive and polished work for a compo!

A bit unexpected that you supposed to die, had to reload first round couple of times to ensure i've done nothing wrong. I also couldnt find a way to cancel building placement selection.

ANALOG TUNE OVERRIDE by Arryos 2026-04-21T11:22:24Z

I've tried to tune explosions to the beat, just because music was so FIRE. Nice balance between puzzle brain and muscle reactions too! Did you made this track too?

As @human-writes-code said, scrolling is a point of friction, and it sometimes stuck in the bottom position for me. Also shield-changing enemies who for some reason could not be dropped by removing bridge (even if enemies in previous levels could be dropped) are just bad, honestly

Catching the Signal by MeeRebane 2026-04-21T13:42:30Z

That was fun. Controls are surprisingly tight and satisfying! And many thanks for the quick restart key! Nice art too!

Signal Through the Blizzard by anku 2026-04-21T13:32:26Z

I liked it. Narrative was good and felt truly like internal monologue, nothing's out of place. I think going for mood was the right call. Difficulty is also just right.

Not sure what was behind the split paths, and maybe some signal justification would be nice. Great work!

Distant Driving by GrayMansion 2026-04-22T20:04:39Z

Graphics and sounds are really cool, and it feels nice to drive forward. Awesome work on the vehicle suspension! I wish I could try other cars, but the grind for price was a bit too harsh. And I'm not sure if I can affect the outcome of radio-silent track parts at all, is it just gas and pray?
