LD38 — A Small World

Protolife by icxon 2017-05-10T11:25:45Z

@remco, @philomory - thanks for feedback. That was exactly what we want to do next - create more different types of buildings. And not only towers and bombs. What we imagined so far: - several resource farms (with different spawning rates and abilities. for example, one of them produces lot of resources when surrounded by infection) - enemy-slaughter, which converts little red worms into resources (amino-acids) - enemy-doubler, which duplicates little red worms (so you may create a chain with slaugthers at the end and got a lot of resources) - exoskeleton, in which ameba (hero) can "wear" and walk over the infection (with destroying it) - resource harvester

Same story with enemies - from big walking bosses which produce spawners to several kinds of infections with different abilities.

Initially we wanted to add much more buildings and enemies in jam version, but we understood that each new building require re-balancing and level re-design. We limited ourselves in order to finish work in time.

littleBLASTplanet by gamepopper 2017-05-02T21:27:48Z

It's fun enough and fits the theme, but for me it is a bit hard - I loose in several seconds :( Probably I just need to sleep more to restore reaction speed ) Graphics is good for such fast gameplay - it is very clear what happens on screen.

Incidental Dimension by wildmusketeer 2017-05-02T21:42:30Z

It is a good puzzle with non-standard visual. It could be just one of a lot of puzzle-games with boxes, buttons and doors, but this sphere surface, action around level and ambient music make mystery atmosphere. Main hero could have some animations of walking and pushing, but for compo it is ok - I know how little time you had :) Good luck!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Galvanica by icxon 2017-08-03T21:07:03Z

@solah, yeah, aliens usually destroy objects on your ship. Maybe they just weren't hungry :) Or you are very lucky! Also, robo-aliens are interested in electronic devices only, they don't need your chairs.

Extincti by FooMar 2017-08-08T19:38:22Z

Hey, that is really fun! Destroying everything with such major music and bright graphics - is a good contrast. Not sure is there a way to win - seems like we (Earth) can just survive as long as possible. Very memorable entry - not every day I can play for a planet! Good luck!

Operation Lambda by Schuster 2017-08-08T19:18:20Z

Good puzzle entry! It reminds me the LaserTank game. Not sure, but I think that hero could be invulnerable - it is hard enough without it :)

LD42 — Running out of space

POLYARNIK by icxon 2018-08-17T13:17:16Z

@mattincho, thanks! Yes, that's old good Phaser :)

You are right, the water is made using shader - here you may see that one (a bit fixed, but you may uncomment top #define to see original one with all its problems): https://www.shadertoy.com/view/MltcWf

All other stuff was made without shaders.

LD44 — Your life is currency

The Tail of the Serpent by Le Slo 2019-05-01T20:37:02Z

I like puzzles! This is very good one. But I need to say it is not obvious from start that you may bite off the tail. The graphics and musics fit the game ideally.

Protocol: R.W.S. by Derek Volker 2019-05-01T20:14:37Z

Good entry. Both design and music work together. I liked gameplay and how you made upgrades system. Good luck!

Don't pay with your life by Majadroid 2019-05-01T20:04:31Z

Nice entry! I like graphics and animations. Gameplay is simple, but it works well.

Little Baby Bloodbag by Trevor Shoe 2019-05-01T20:26:49Z

Very fun game! I would like to have more levels to pass, with different enemies/allies. But for compo it is pretty well done.

U Wouldn't Shoot a Ship by NotSoEpicGames 2019-05-01T20:45:34Z

Maybe a bit less inertia would be fine. Also I expected that down key will accelerate starship to opposite direction, not just break (hey, it is space!) :) But playing this game and trying all the upgrades and investigating new enemies - all of that was very fun. Good luck, guys!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Unit 21 by a333 2020-04-21T20:04:05Z

Well done good polished entry... Just kidding :) I like the art, I like the story. Gameplay is smooth enough, but it feels like I never go far away from robot - it is too dangerous. On big maps with many enemies I usually make 2-3 steps around to gather something and then take off. I would like to have more stealth mechanics here, but I'm not sure what enemies see and have no way to distract them. Anyway I was able to win. Good luck!

Until We Freeze by icxon 2020-04-21T20:26:18Z

Wow, it is so sadly and joyfully at same time. The most kindly game our team ever made.

I like thost small details like cold breath, fish animations, a bit different phrases on repeating cases. I would like to have a bit more things to do, not just putting woods into fire. Or, I'm sure, it could be a very beautiful "walking" game, with strange and mysterious nature around (we are in dream, right?) where it is nice to just walk around and see.

Abandoned by GRaAL 2020-04-22T09:38:56Z

@ben-newington thanks for kind words. BTW, it is compo, so I had only 48 hours :). And actually I had less because I didn't want my kid to feel abandoned.

Abandoned by GRaAL 2020-04-22T11:26:16Z

@solah and I appreciate your choice.

No, there is no such happy ending in game. But there is a minor chance that if you left the creature in safe place and move hero out alone then behind the scenes the hero will be able to return back and find way to free creature out.

Abandoned by GRaAL 2020-04-23T10:06:03Z

Yeah, movement speed was a mistake. I think it will be better to make all enemies move at once, not one after another. Fixing that now would be against rules, so I have to keep it as is. Will spend more time on playtests next time. Thanks for feedback!

Abandoned by GRaAL 2020-04-27T21:59:03Z

@ulcius thank you!

Year, this is "known issue" with doors. Actually it must restart level automatically, but I didn't want to fix that in last moment - I was afraid I can break something else. So I introduced "restart level" button (R) instead :)

Abandoned by GRaAL 2020-05-08T12:19:10Z

BTW, I made post-LD version with better graphics, if you interested :) [Here it is](https://graal.itch.io/abandoned-3d)

Flame Guardian by KungKras 2020-04-21T20:57:23Z

I like the art style and how fire effects are done, it is very atmospheric (and music too). But it is really hard to control the hero - hard to predict where he will land when jumping, or maybe he will fall down.

Keep Them Alive by kaeveris 2020-04-21T20:45:48Z

I like the puzzles of such kind!

Protect the Egg by njm_games 2020-04-20T19:39:05Z

The aiming system is awesome. It is very fun to try shoot multiple enemies at once.

Kalend by Gabriel Pittol 2020-04-21T22:07:06Z

Good entry. I like hero design and animations, and how whole world is looks like (all these falling columns, arcs, and so on). Introducing new features and control tutorial is also awesome. Music also fits good. But unfortunately I was stuck in second level, with color keys and doors. Maybe I just missed some key, need to try finding it out.

Xtreme gardening 2020 by Loig 2020-04-20T21:10:52Z

Simple but finished game with all in place: music, graphics and sounds. Good luck!

Apple Panick by peterfiftyfour 2020-04-20T19:24:13Z

I like the contrast between garden and the pit (the music there is chilling). The game itself is meditative, I like it too.

I would like to have a hint during a game - how flowers/fruits affects Ctulhu's state (I read that in "controls" menu, but forgot in few moments).

Tower of BOOM by BadPiggy 2020-04-20T18:30:37Z

Good entry! I like overall design and how it is played. A bit "fast" for me, but I know that my reaction is slow. Also I like that game is randomized a bit on every start.

Save Ivee by Furfel 2020-04-20T19:46:20Z

Nice puzzle idea! But I got stuck a bit. When I fill crystals with colors, after time they change their colors for some reason. I don't get how to fill all crystals with valid colors if they change their colors by themselves :( Controls are bit strange, but I already used to them, so it is not a big problem.

Coxless Dirible - In 72 hours around the World! by fachscahfttf 2020-04-21T21:59:06Z

Oh, it reminds me one of our previous game, when we needed to manage spaceship and throw things into furnace. I like the atmosphere and setting (zeppelin flying through clouds!). Maybe I would like to see some random events - just to make gameplay not so monotonic. And, of course, I would like to steer zeppelin :)

Frozen April by Alex Karev 2020-04-26T06:50:50Z

Entry look great! Sorry, I cannot check it because I do not have windows workstation here.

Right now I'm learning how to work with 3D in Godot (I made my LD game in Godot too, but 2D). Could you please share the source code? Interesting to see how do you work with animations and postprocessing. Thanks!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

TANKNAT by icxon 2020-10-08T19:25:25Z

@dj-depressive thanks for feedback! Yeah, some things could be highlighted better, we always have problems with manuals :)

For example, in your case the small gray box is not the same as big gray box. This is corpse of yellow robot killed at previous "loop". When you kill yellow robot you see yellow box, and after beam passes that box it becomes solid gray box. If you met that, you may go back (counterclockwise) and let temporal beam pass through box again. It will bring yellow robot to live again, and you'll be able to kill it in another place or move his corpse.

LD55 — Summoning

Slimeleon by icxon 2024-04-16T10:55:28Z

@greenradiation this is how I draw it GIF 16.04.2024 15-54-16.gif

Slimeleon by icxon 2024-04-18T09:15:30Z

@the-neon-shark thanks for feedback. For this entry I've trained one big lazy model - myself :) I have patterns as 32x32 black/white images. Then I convert drawn gesture into same format, and then compare pixels with some optimizations and hacks: * looking for pixel in pattern in 3x3 area, counting that. Several drawn pixels may match same pattern pixel. * counting pixels from drawn image that do not match pixels in pattern * counting pixels from pattern that do not match any pixel in drawn image * then summarize all of that counters with different weights

I've drawn multiple figures and ran comparison with pattern multiple times with different methods and weights to find better one. Снимок экрана 2024-04-18 141423.png Снимок экрана 2024-04-18 141329.png

I think it is good task for ML, I need to study more about them.

Summoned Assault by milano23 2024-04-17T06:39:39Z

Reverse tower defence is what I've tried to create (not on LD), I like this idea. The main problem is that I cannot see the level before choosing units to spawn. So I just spawned gorillaz all the time, because they are fast, strong and armoured. I think this game could grow to real product. Good luck!

Gerald the Blind Butler by maxflav 2024-04-17T12:01:09Z

Very fun puzzle! I like how it is done, tiny levels and cute pixelart. Also thanks for great hints before each level - lot of games miss some tutorial or help so it is not easy to understand how to play them.

Gerald the Blind Butler by maxflav 2024-04-17T12:02:14Z

@online-play small hint: player himself also blocks sound of bell, so it matters where are you standing

Do NOT Summon the Kraken by Willby 2024-04-17T15:02:29Z

Vibe of good old sierra quests, very atmospheric and fun. I would like to have big adventure in this style, new Legend of Kyrandia. Awesome!

Demon Chalk by AmberFall92 2024-04-17T14:40:12Z

Few, a bit hard for me, but that is not game's fault. I like how it looks and sounds. BTW, is there a way to listen separate soundtrack? :) Drawing around enemies to hurt them - is a brilliant mechanic!

Bony Barricade by Philocode 2024-04-17T14:52:22Z

I like the idea! I had troubles when my castle is attacked by dozen of archers - even if I summon some spearmen they was not able to kick archers. BTW, are big ballistas on castle towers supposed to shot? It is not clear how the resources appear (I mean "bones") - from enemy bodies? I like the art style. Maybe with more time there would be good animations and sounds. Good luck!

Magnet Head by Brooklyn Humphrey 2024-04-17T06:31:41Z

Game with magnets, I like it! It requires some strategy, because when there are multiple enemies I cannot just reuse the same projectile, and I need to be careful to not destroy them accidentially. Music does not seem to fit, but it is not annoying. Sounds and effects fit good, I feel that magnetic power.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Jumper Cables by Elemental Zeal Game Studios 2018-04-26T21:29:32Z

Difficult for me, but fun enough. I like the AI opponents, and I like to see they have same troubles as I have :) Was not able to pass waterfall after multiple tries :( I know it shall be possible, just cannot find the valid order.

Good look on jam!

C://TEXTRIS.EXE by Ryan Gannon King 2018-04-26T21:04:35Z

Very good entry! Interesting mix of genres. Unfortunately I did not succeed passing the quest, but I would like to try beating it later. One only thing: it could be nice to pause falling figures while new story text is printing. I takes long to read it (especially for non-native english readers :)), and without reading I don't know which commands are available next. Good luck!

Type to Win by net3ton 2018-04-24T21:29:35Z

Yeah, too short! It was fun to find very long command after those "jump" and "turn". I expected that on highest levels that will be multiple sentences or poems to type fast, but game ends... BTW, I like that I need to hit ENTER to apply command - it allows to me to prepare myself: type command far away from needed point and then apply with single ENTER hit.

Tetraformer by diver.Steelcake 2018-04-24T21:24:43Z

Hey, it is very good entry in my opinion. Graphics and animations are just amazing, music fits, and interesting gameplay idea. The problem is that it requires 2 players, and it is hard (but still possible :)) to play alone. A simple AI for king (which just randomly drops the blocks around) could be very useful. BTW, I found your entry on itch.io while searching for web entries. Don't forget to add web link here, on entry page - you have only Windows one. Lot of people doesn't like to download games, so link to web would be useful to get more ratings. Good luck!

Farm Punch by Sengi 2018-04-26T21:23:42Z

This game has amazing visual style. I like how perspective is used when crows arrive and fly away. And the chaos on the field :) Good look!

Type'n Run by souzanod 2018-04-24T20:51:56Z

That is good example of combination - the platformer speed is enough to react on environment and type commands. The only problem I see is that it is a bit monotonic - after 1-2 minutes I think I saw all the cases and just repeat the same actions. Maybe it could be good to insrease speed in time, so additional challenge appears. Good job!

GUN-HOCKEY by isopoly 2018-04-24T21:18:57Z

Good implementation of theme. THAT is hockey I with to play in reality :) Or at least play with friends on network. Excelent gameplay, good AI, nice graphics!
