Really, really like the art style on this one! And of course a very funny concept to begin with. Nice work!

ghost-wave 2021-04-26 22:12

This game is awesome ! Great job :0

I love the walking animation xd

denilseven 2021-04-26 23:34

I really enjoyed the game! the mechanics of platform and movement were excellent! Here are my scores:scores.png

I fell in love with them :heartbeat: The chasing animation is just too cute. And how you used the background to hide the collectables was superb. Amazing game, hope you had a great weekend building this.

thedupy124 2021-04-27 08:21

The walking animation is so cool ! Great concept and execution !

m0dsat 2021-04-27 08:45

Awesome game. Those legs are gonna give me nightmares. I think i managed it in 20 deaths, but the screen disappeared before I really took notice :) The domino level in particular was inventive, but I actually really liked them all. Thanks for a great game!

stin 2021-04-27 08:51

Really cool game with cool graphics.

lighty-the-light 2021-04-27 08:56

Hahaha good work pal!

A liiiiittle bit hard, but it's OK!

morricore 2021-04-27 08:59

Fully beat this game. And I love this wacky, but feeling good gameplay. Although some levels feels way harder than others, so it kinda crushes the flow.

sherwin-claridge 2021-04-27 09:03

Love the simple art direction. Hilarious and the controls feel good. Game crashes when I press Start on the controller. Overall, great job!

steve-dragon 2021-04-27 09:36

The mechanical feel of the game is pretty good. The graphics are simple and functional (and sometimes, cute). The story has a sense of absurdness to it, but I think the humour did not come through as well as it needed to so as to make the oremise work.

The power-ups and collectibles were a really nice touch that I appreciated so much. It adds to the experience of playing and makes it more fun.

However, I will say, it desperately needs music. To set the tone, to make it more punchy, to make it feel cooler. Music and sound effects will go miles in making this feel better.

Overall, I think the core loop being engaging is the greatest strength here cuz then you don't get bored of it even if the motivation to play from art, music and story middles out.

jiri-hysek 2021-04-27 10:55

Hell yeah! I really dig the art style of this. It has great atmosphere but it's funny at the same time :) Great game, it's pleasure to play this!

thebmxeur 2021-04-27 12:58

The graphics reminds me a little bit of Gonner for some reason (probably the exits). In one level where there was a lot of fire the game slowed done to a crawl until I finished the level.

khelian 2021-04-28 00:13

One of my favourite entries! So many levels, a real ending, agreeable mechanics, and most of all: a tangible world! Many details with each levels just to make it feel alive, touches of humor that legitimize the farting gimmick (which otherwise would have been exhausted fast), different propulsion mechanics.

Very cool game!

brainloaf-studio 2021-04-28 07:52

Really fun! I like how the fire mechanic is worked into the level design - activating switches, burning plants - and more than solely a movement mechanic (a very fun movement mechanic nonetheless). I enjoyed the art especially, the animated creatures in the background added a ton to the atmosphere. The "ohh yeah!" when you collect peppers is great too. Really great work!

themightytrout 2021-04-28 09:46

really cool game, i love the running animation!!!!!! the mechanics are really fun to use. it would be nice to see some of the fire mechanisms and switches a little earlier on as i nearly stopped playing before i got there (went back when i read one of the other comments)

hotsauce_02.png

Very cool! Loved it! minimal sound design but that's a lot of levels for 72h, really impressive :-o

It's funny as all hell - really enjoyed it - great job :D

I'm getting a bit of a type writer vibe in the mechanics & presentation of the game - the graphics department - very enjoyable

So I really like your game and I'm streaming Ludum Dare 48 games on saturday with my friend Teauorent on his Twitch channel - https://www.twitch.tv/teauorent - Saturday May 1st 4PM CET First of all - that cool with you? This may redirect some traffic to your page for more people to try your LD48 game  If you'd like, please e-mails us anecdotes and sneak peeks of your creative process (photos, screenshots, beta/WIP asset renders, mood boards, concept Art, etc.) so we can present them alongside and illustrate your LD48 adventure to our audience  Here's our e-mail to send all that good stuff to --> TeamChooChoo.GameJams@gmail.com [we will confirm receiving your e-mail(s) upon reception] The show will be in french but I'm bilingual so you can totally submit in english, we'll take care of the rest

Have a great day, I hope to hear from you soon - thanks for that great moment I spent testing your little nugget of a game, and see you in the chat on saturday I hope

[get back to me and I'll tell you how got such an outrageous high score - hint: I think I found keys you mapped to help debug the game - which I found very clever, by the by :-D]

a333 2021-04-28 18:37

@strangeryann wow, didn't expect this lovely piece of feedback. Sure thing, we'll be happy to. I'll try to gather some stuff for you.

As for the high score - it's totally possible to beat the game under 7 minutes (you'll get rewarded for 8:00 and lower). It's also possible to get stars and rewards for other two stats. And rewards give you a little bonus - for instance, red boots lessen fall damage significantly - you can keep them if you start NG+. But I won't spoil all of the rewards here)

@norris-eldridge @ghost-wave @fictions @thedupy124 @stin @jiri-hysek @khelian @brainloaf-studio

Thank you for all the kind words and precious feedback! You make us feel proud and happy!

@denilseven @m0dsat @lighty-the-light @morricore Thank you! Actually, 20-ish deaths and 15-min playtime is awesome result for the first-time players. Sorry for some levels being harder than others. They were much harder and went through many iterations of lessening the pain, but in the end we also ended up falling into difficulty bias.

@sherwin-claridge thank you! Btw what kind of controller it is? might be that I accidentally mapped escape on your start button.

@steve-dragon thank you very much. It does have music though 😀

@thebmxeur Much appreciated. Sorry for the lags, we just love hundreds of particles too much.

@themightytrout Thank you for returning and giving it another chance. It really means much for us.

lethalturtle 2021-04-28 19:29

Amazing visuals and mood, using the background to hide the collectables was genius, I really loved the ending (Satan gave me a top hat).

nyanpierre 2021-04-28 22:38

I love the animation of the leg x) in a first time i just say "wtf did u just fart for fly ?" x) but the gameplay and the idea is cool, good job !

jonah 2021-04-28 22:54

the physics work so good for this game. I really enjoyed running through the air and settings things on fire. Good job!

rubenwardy 2021-04-29 00:43

This is really good, nice physics, good graphics, and it's hard without being frustrating

stroe-andrew 2021-04-29 04:08

Ay Oh! I remember when you played and published a video playing my game for the LudumDare42 back in 2018 @icxon !! :) Lovely.

Your game is so polished! Really nice physics and a really great graphics! Overall I really really like it. Congrats to all the team.

felo07 2021-04-29 06:50

loved the art and sound minimalistic style. just the speed of character was too slow, good game =)

I live in a region in France where we produce chilli pepper called "piment d'espelette" so I really tried hard to get all the chili peppers xD

Really good game, everything is great, I just found that it was pretty hard to get up or at least maintain your altitude with the firing fart when falling.

Great job!

a333 2021-04-29 09:03

@solah hehe! Congrats with your hard earned crown :) which pepper was the hardest?

solah 2021-04-29 09:34

@a333 That's a tough question, none of them was too hard to get, you did a good job on making them accessible yet challenging to get

oillen 2021-05-01 01:08

-Fun (4.5) Other than farts the game keeps it's fun without starting to smell bad. Nitpickingly I would like to destroy something, like the enemies, with gutgases.

-Innovation (3.5 or 4) The game feels to me like, what distinguishes DOOM Eternal from DOOM(2016) has been done to Soldat. That would actually infuriate me, but LudumDare is something differnt and I have to accept that I am playing a plattformer not a monster-massacre-like. Farting through Hell is surprisingly something new to me - do you know Bierkrieg? it's nothing new...

-Theme (3.5) You solved "a single central resource" well, one of my themes, so I cheat some credits for you.

-Grafics (3.5) The style is consistent & a bit simple - but there are a lot of levels & unique details to them

-Audio (3.5) The sounds are a bit few but neat, and the game is lacking of fart noises...

-Humor (4.5 or 5) Fart humor top - more of it! Or add something verboten, because Hell.

-Mood (3.5) It's more a sinister & bleak version than a brutish fiery type of hell. The kind of evil menace is not that present, there are traps & enemies, though hell is quite chill here.

-Overall ( 4,5 + 3.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 + 5 + 3.5 -> 4 ) Nice small game, that I played multiple times already. I've got all the peppers, a quick run mention by the devil, and now I am working on not dying.

The points I would like to rate:

-Quality/Polish: (3.5) I love how broken the walk animation is. I would prefer to have menus, but closing the game by hitting esc is ok.

-Genre: (4) I guess it's a interesting platformer, that is at worst in need of more of the things already in it. Compared to games I know, it is close to Soldat ( a Plattformer-Arenashooter), that has comparable non-tile based maps/levels & a almost similar jetpack system.

-Szenario: (4) The levels vary in part a lot & become slighty more difficult.

-Setting: (3.5) I am a bit missing the hell feeling. The art is made consequently, which is good. The levels however feel quite randomly selected, but it could be just me not getting the point.

-Story(telling): (3.5) The written story telling is meant as a tutorial & backgroud lore, not continuing it is a missed oportunity to tell us more. Your game seem to be not much about story and this is absolute O.K. & I am sympathetik to the protagonist.

Gameplay:

-Controls: (4.5) The Controls works almost always - when you keep pressing walk & restart you don't move. Cheers to have multiple layouts for the controls.

-rules: (3.5) Why do you need solid ground under your feet to recharge your gutgas? I am wondering why the farting man dies by falling and sometimes not.

-complexity: (3.5) You can solve obstacles/puzzles in different ways. By dealing with foes, there needs to be a satisfying method to defeat them - burning, traps etc. Explosive could have been used at least a second time.

-difficulty: (5) The game is challenging for the right reasons, meanwhile it give hints to help you. Having a button for quick restarting a level makes the game forgiving enough, that even sometimes randomly occuring setbacks are no problem.

-Content: (4) There are many levels, a small set of foes & obstacles, some pickups & quite a bunch of details You can chase differnt scores like peppers, best time, least deaths ect.

Holy bass, batman!!!

mrcubix 2021-05-16 21:36

I spent almost 30 mins and I should say that's pretty good and engaging. You are managed to create something mysterious and interesting to explore:) Molodtsy, eshe dopilit' i budet krutaya igrushka tipo limbo
