LD42 — Running out of space

Backpack Squire by Squid 2018-08-13T04:50:17Z

Well done guys, solid entry! Love the art style. Fun little game :)

Running from ⭐⭐Space⭐⭐ by sobakaduka 2018-08-18T05:48:44Z

Dude, nice work! Digging that sweet music! Your 3d assets are also pretty good! Overall nicely done :)

The Return by seizethedia 2018-08-18T14:09:15Z

Hey I liked your entry :) Music was pretty good and made for a nice atmosphere. I quite like the art style as well, simple and easy to understand. I think my only critique is that often times it felt like the best strategy was just run straight at the exit. Not sure if this was intended or not. Another thing was that often times I'd get cut off from going in any direction so I'd have to just run around in my circle until a block killed me lol I guess it would be nice if once the game detects you can't get to the exit, just kill the player at that point? Either way, solid entry! Nicely done!

Last Piece by WetBox 2018-08-18T14:18:39Z

Nicely done! Music worked well with the visuals. Which the visuals for this game are quite good :) I liked the game play. Quite a clever concept in my opinion. Overall, very well done!

Re: Growth by frostByte4k 2018-08-14T04:21:20Z

Charming little game you have here :) solid game play and an interesting concept. I also really like the overall look of the game. Well done!

Cybermind by GrizzledBoor 2018-08-19T17:33:41Z

Excellent entry :) Liked the visuals and the music a lot. The concept of the augmentations is a pretty neat idea. Very well done!

Sea of Bells by Kultisti 2018-08-18T14:12:34Z

I must say that this game looks really great and fun! Really like the visuals from what I can see! However, sadly I am on a Mac so I can't actually play your game. But at least for the visuals, well done! :)

Overflow by antoined73 2018-08-20T05:45:43Z

Hey I really like the art style here in your screenshots! However, I'm on a Mac so I can't actually play your entry. If you manage to get a web or Mac version, I'll gladly play it!

Rush Hour by pillowPillow 2018-08-20T05:42:59Z

Really love the art style of this game! Super cute. Also really like the music :) for me my only complaint is that it seemed like the window was perhaps cut off for me. Perhaps that's intended? Either way, solid entry! Well done!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-13T04:16:05Z

Hey thanks for giving it a shot! The player will always walk towards where the mouse is in "world space" so if he's spinning around trying putting some distance between the character and the mouse, hopefully that helps and makes it more enjoyable!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-13T06:03:10Z

Hey thanks! Yeah sounds like so far that's the common theme. In all honesty I like the crazy somewhat eratic movement as it kind of adds to the chaos lol almost like if Qwop were a game about moving furniture. Definitely true though that this is a good experiment with player control / player frustration.

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-13T19:00:23Z

Hey thanks addvector lol I was starting to think I was crazy for allowing the controls to be wonky! Thanks for checking it out!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-16T20:33:04Z

Hey @keppu, thanks so much for playing and for your feedback! Yeah I'm kinda wishing I had called that out much more. I persoanlly like the flopping around and I think others would as well if it was messaged more clearly that that is part of the experience and part of what I find funny in the game. And good info to know on the fonts, thanks!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-17T14:06:09Z

Hey @nam-nguyen, thanks so much for playing! I did actually have a "How to Play" page in there, did you see that page? Perhaps my explanation just wasn't very good lol

Good call on the feedback for the phone. There is supposed to be a voice you can here when you pick it up but I think the volume on that track is a bit to low so it can be missed in all the other sounds going on. Perhaps a visual of the phone slamming or something would have made that more clear.

Overall uhh... Thanks for like... Playing or something...

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-17T16:10:10Z

Lol fair enough I don't read either! Perhaps I can do a tutorial video or even a straight tutorial section for the next game :P

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-17T22:34:24Z

Lol awesome @flaterectomy glad to hear that it sounds like you at least had some fun :P

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-18T06:14:29Z

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-18T06:22:17Z

@parkerduncan OH MY! lol Dude! Achievement unlocked! I think that's a first. AND 63k style points!!11!!! Hot damn, the for real feng shui master has arrived lol

Thanks so much for giving my game a shot, glad you had fun!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-18T13:25:01Z

@hanin fair enough! Controls do seem to be the biggest criticism so I'm sure you're probably right that there is a better control scheme for this sort of game. Definitely something I will have to play with more and think on for next time.

Thanks for playing!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-18T13:30:30Z

@shakedimus that's a fair critique. I didn't put in any sort of lose state for a couple reasons. 1 is that I wanted to put in a global leaderboard and just have that high score be the challenge rather than anything else. Unfortunately just didn't end up getting around to making that a reality and its hard to justify a server cost for a game jam game that only a handful of people will play :P 2 being that I personally thought it would be funny to have the player win and be acknowledged as this amazing interior designer regardless of how terrible they did, how much they just flopped around.

Thanks for giving my gave a shot and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the game's humor!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-18T19:32:29Z

@annoyedcactus Interesting idea for a control, set up! I'll have to try that out and see if that makes it feel a little tighter. Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback :)

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-19T20:55:32Z

@suve awesome thank you so much for playing and your feedback :)

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-19T22:40:56Z

@arron-fowler well at least it was a pleasant frustrating experience lol :P

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T04:56:15Z

@wrenpirate hey thanks for playing and for your feedback. I can definitely see where you're coming from. There probably should be more actual consequences but mostly this game is just going for silly. Sorry to hear you ran into trouble with moving furniture though. Should be able to click on it and drag it around sorry if that didn't work for you. Thanks again for playing though :)

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T04:56:55Z

@rubixnoob13 hey thanks for playing and yeah I will definitely check yours out!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T05:03:45Z

@wrenpirate awesome! Hopefully a better experience this time around :P

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T05:18:02Z

@dingodize awesome glad you liked it! And thank you for your feedback! I had thought about do that but it was the last level I built and I was tired and lazy by that point lol thanks again for checking it out! :)

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T05:19:50Z

@heidi yeah seems to be the trend lol lesson learned that controls need to be either incredibly intuitive or there needs to be a tutorial for the next game jam. Happy to hear that you enjoyed it and liked the audio and visuals! :) Thanks for taking so time to give it a shot!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T05:21:46Z

@acekugen yeah getting the right camera angle was tricky. I knew that I wanted an off camera angle like that but I never quite found the exact angle I was looking for and just had to move on to working on the rest of the game. Definitely something I will have to play with to be ready for the next jam! Thanks for playing!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T15:07:11Z

@heidelbert thanks for playing! Yeah the "goal" for each level is pretty much trying to get as Hugh of a score as possible in each level. I had originally planned on making an actual leaderboard so that each level you could compete against other LD players. You earn points by placing the furniture in certain places (which is never really told to the player) or at the end by having furniture stacked. An improvement I think I'd make on this game given the time would have been to put down markers on the floor to show where a certain piece of furniture is supposed to go. I think that would have added in a bit more direction for the player. Thanks playing my game and for your feedback!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-27T05:55:58Z

@zinski thank you so much for playing! I totally agree. If I were a better artist more visual feedback would definitely be an area I'd spend more time on lol I will definitely be keeping that in mind for next time.

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-27T05:56:57Z

@sn4pi thank you! Yeah, lesson learned on the control scheme on this game. I will definitely be going with a more traditional control feel on the next game.

Lava Palava by Ben Scroggins 2018-08-19T18:02:12Z

Very nice graphics :) I don't know if the audio quite matched though. The music felt a little out of play and the sound effects in general didn't quite match what I thought it should sound like based on what I saw. Other than that though very solid entry :) good job!

SHOOTER 3D by prajwal 2018-08-18T14:01:26Z

Hey, thanks for commenting on my post. Unfortunately I can't play it because I'm on a Mac but I can say that your screenshot at least looks quite nice :)

Space Shipping by RubixNoob13 2018-08-20T05:09:47Z

Nicely done :) Pretty neat twist on the tetris style gameplay. I could actually see this being a full game. I could especially see it as a cool mobile game. I think perhaps the only thing lacking is audio. I think some nice music and sound effects could have really kick this up a notch but overall very well done!

Give Me Space by annoyedCactus 2018-08-18T19:20:59Z

So I like this game's concept but I think it was a little hard to play. The planets we always very offset to where my mouse was and I'm not sure if that's intended. I also think that there was a little bit of lack of polish. I played the the web version of this game so maybe this was only a problem for the web but an example of this was that on the home page, the c in credits was off the screen. Overall, again I liked the concept but I think it could have used a little more time to really make it shine.

Claustrophobia by deformhead 2018-08-18T06:28:02Z

Very love the art style. Didn't hear any sound effects however? Are there supposed to be? Either way, very liked the game. Nice little puzzle game. Especially liked that last level :P

(Psst! Btw if you ever want some music made for your game I'd be interested!)

CatΒ΄s personal space by DingoDize 2018-08-20T05:27:42Z

Great entry! Love the idea here. Really liked that car walking animation. Super well done. Don't know if I was at the last level or not, but I wasn't able to beat it lol that level with the 2 windows is a hard one!

WearOut by Abhis1Kadian 2018-08-26T16:43:09Z

Hey nice entry! Cute / funny intro. I like the simple animations. I think that something that could have made the combat more engaging would have been to add in a stamina meter. Right now spamming 'w' seems to be the best strategy to get a high score. A stamina meter where kicks cost more and punches cost less would have encouraged the use of punches. That said I think the range on the punches was a little to short maybe? Anytime I tried to use a punch I pretty much died because you can't kill the enemy before it damages you. Which leads into my last critique of the combat which is that the bad guys would be significantly improved if they had an actual attack instead of just they kill you if they touch you. At that point you can get in close to the enemy and as long as you are fast you can kill them before they damage you. As it is right now you just can't do that. Again, all of this basically leads to, why bother moving, just stand here and press 'w'. Outside of specifically combat, having enemies come from the other side would have also at least provided a reason to turn around and justify your movement options.

Changing spaces by Shakedimus 2018-08-18T13:59:35Z

Hey, nice little game you have here! I think some music and sounds would have really helped pull the mood together. The controls were a smidge awkward at first just because its a little odd to think about wasd as anything other than moving lol perhaps a mouse click to fire in a direction could have worked a little better? Either way I liked this game. Solid entry :)

Elevator Operator by Evan Charfauros 2018-08-20T05:33:47Z

Nicely done! Really liked this game. Took me a second to understand what floors animals were trying to get off at but after that it was quite a fun and challenging game. Really like the audio overall and I liked the simple cartoony art style :)

Deadly Confines by ParkerDuncan 2018-08-18T05:57:12Z

Guys! Love the artwork! And the game is quite fun :) The music fits the visuals quite nicely. Really makes for a great atmosphere. Well done! Very impressed.

Wandering Soot by AceKugen 2018-08-20T05:35:30Z

Hey guys, this game looks really great! Unfortunately, I can't play it because I'm on a Mac but the art style looks great! Definitely reach out to me if this gets a web or Mac version because I will absolutely play this!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Rising Pyramid by BoltKey 2019-04-29T19:59:13Z

Interesting game, though admittedly I got a little confused while playing. I think that adding in some music would have made for a better experience. That and some sound effects for matching colors.

Basil Price: Mint Investigator by minibobbo 2019-05-01T01:30:25Z

Nice work and sweet 4th wall breakage, gotta say though, the music sounds like it belongs in a... well a different kind of entertainment... but overall well done :)

Return of the Roguelike by Azargaz 2019-05-01T21:01:01Z

Good job :) I really liked the art work, some music would have been cool but overall I quite liked the game

Peak Myths by fashionbatman 2019-05-03T01:19:21Z

hmmm not sure I get this game but I do love me some loot boxes :P

Chicken Out! by drtizzle 2019-04-30T18:22:01Z

Nice! I really liked your game. The graphics are simple but really clean looking. The music and sound effects are quite charming. Your menu was well constructed. I think the hand draw controls page was actually pretty cool, very informative, didn't really fit the rest of the game's art style but eh it worked. Overall, really well done :)

Necromarket by Flaterectomy 2019-04-30T00:48:22Z

Wow! What a fantastic entry! Love the whole mood, the audio, the art work is fantastic. The writing is also quite funny, well done! :)

Tensilver [HTML] by seizethedia 2019-04-30T23:10:25Z

Nice work! I was a bit confused at first but after clicking around for a bit I finally figured it out. I liked the sounds and graphics and even your presentation on the web page looked great. :) Good job!

Calienows by fatPenguin 2019-05-03T21:35:28Z

Nice, solid entry. Definitely would have been more fun had I had a friend to play against lol but still quite good. I did think the menu music was a bit abrasive though, but again overall nice work :)

Forfeiting Your Soul by D-Studios 2019-05-21T01:52:18Z

Some audio would have been great. The graphics overall were okay though the walls and floors looked odd. Characters looked good though. The collisions were a bit odd, bouncing back like that is always a little jarring and doesn't look good, especially when the camera is locked to the character like this. I'd say look into moving with the rigid body rather than moving the transform yourself. Also, not sure if I missed something but a means to defend yourself and not receive damage would have been nice. Through the whole game it was easy enough to spam attack and get through it but the boss is too beefy for that. I suppose dash is meant for that but it's a bit unclear what deals damage and what doesn't.

Blood Rite by Twan Mul 2019-04-30T23:16:13Z

Very well done! I absolutely love this graphical style (though the text was sometimes a bit rough to read :P). The music was really good as well. The core concept was pretty unique too. All around really good job :)

300 Hearts for Escape by invader 2019-04-30T21:45:16Z

Good job! I really like the art style for the game and I think the premise / core mechanic is really interesting. Though I must admit I thought it was a bit tough. Overall though, nicely done :)

Prostage by Caffeinated Psychics 2019-04-30T21:29:01Z

So I feel like the controls for this game are a bit rough. It was incredibly difficult to rotate the shield where I needed it to go, especially with how quickly the projectiles move and there is no indication of where I should be protecting (at least not that I saw). I think perhaps having the shield follow the mouse pointer may have worked? That or perhaps just added in a little bit of flashing or something to indicate which thing is going to shoot you. Overall, nicely done :)

Pit King by VeryEvilTomato 2019-05-02T00:41:49Z

Fantastic entry! This game was a lot of fun :) great music and sound effects, great art assets, and the game ran smooth. Well done all around :)

Life is Currency by Rancoud 2019-04-29T20:13:51Z

I was not able to beat the puzzles but I like the experience you're going for here and you definitely nailed the theme. Good work :)

Bite Delight by Nightfall 2019-05-03T23:08:40Z

idk if that music super fits the game but it does sound good :) The graphics also look really nice. Good job!

Nexcidium by keanutah 2019-05-01T01:50:56Z

Very well done! I love the retro style and it was a pretty unique take on the theme :)

Courtyard Madness by X Budsterized X 2019-04-30T15:54:22Z

Good work guys! I think the art looked nice overall, though a bit inconsistent / mismatched styles. The sounds were also pretty good but a bit repetitive, I'd say looking into randomizing the pitch of the sound effective a bit per play can really make your sounds that much better and easier to hear over and over again. Overall, good job :)

Ashes by Sharks 2019-05-03T23:16:54Z

Was a bit laggy so that made it a bit rough to play. The music did not match the vibe of the game much either. Your fire effect looked great though. Good work, very ambitious project for a game jam :)

Trinket Town by Flightless 2019-04-29T19:30:04Z

Nice work! I like the concept, it's simple but surprisingly addicting, and the basic graphics and all acapella music is quite charming :)

Blob World by Sir. Syko 2019-04-30T21:40:13Z

I quite like the game, it was a little hard on the up front, so I think it could use some more tweaking of difficulty but the core of this game seems solid. I quite liked the art style. I think some sound effects and music would have really completed the package but overall good job :)

Slime, music and portals by VinegarLove 2019-04-30T21:36:00Z

Couldn't play :/ I hear music but it's just a black screen

Connect44 by coachsisyphus 2019-04-29T20:34:19Z

Hmm like the other comments here, I'm not sure I get what this game exactly is, but it did look pretty good and the sound effects sounded pretty good as well

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-04-29T19:24:01Z

hey thanks so much! yeah I may keep working on this project after the rating done and add those things in. Given more time the next things in the pipeline were more maps, more zombie variety, boss fights, and interactive scene objects like explosive barrels, etc. And yeah good callout on the BP after the shotgun. I think adding in more stages with tougher enemies will make you have to spend your BP on ammo.

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-04-29T20:20:10Z

Hey @seriar thanks for playing and commenting! Nope, not missing anything. I was planning to add more maps, more enemies, and have it randomize so it could be the kind of game you could just keep playing. But 2 days wasn't enough time to get all that in this time unfortunately :P But I am considering continuing to work on this project and add all that stuff in.

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-04-30T23:33:53Z

thanks @zubspace yeah the katana is probably a bit too good but I liked it a lot so that's probably why :P yeah I'm actually considering continuing development on this game and adding in more levels, boss fights, etc

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-01T21:22:11Z

@pixscope awesome! That's great to hear! Thanks for playing :)

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-02T04:31:38Z

@hutchings90 hey thanks for playing and yes I also made the music also thanks for calling that out, I wonder if perhaps a refresh of the browser would fix that issue. There is supposed to be logic there to make sure you don't spend more BP than you have but there's probably a bug in there :P I'll have to go take a look

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-03T22:23:01Z

@angiemon thanks for playing and your feedback! yeah definitely think more to actually do and better hit feedback are the top of my to do list for next time. It's interesting to me that you found the pistol ineffective, for me it's a trade off between that and the shotgun. The pistol while taking two bullets to kill a zombie can actually be great because the bullets travel further and if you line it up, you might be able to get 3+ zombies with just 2 bullets :P Though I suppose this is all the more reason to have better feedback :P

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-03T23:21:19Z

@vinay-rao hey thanks for playing and your feedback! Yeah I definitely agree with your assessment. I had hoped to make various types of zombies and multiple stages to fight them in. The end goal would have been to have different weapons being advantageous in different environment / against different enemy types but sadly just ran out of time trying to cram in the shop, death, main menu lol :P

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-05T16:28:22Z

@datagreed hey thanks for playing and sorry about the confusion, you can walk off the screen in any direction and get to a screen of zombies. From there fight zombies to get BP, then go back to the shop to spend your BP

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-05T16:30:42Z

@edevjogos definitely! Yeah more levels and more enemies were both in the next to do, sadly just ran out of time. But thanks for playing and your feedback :)

Cloudwalker by JLV 2019-05-03T23:12:18Z

hmm I thought the game was a bit slow, good work on the music / ambience though :)

Broker by EstuvoMuyBien 2019-04-30T23:21:20Z

Well done, really interesting concept and I really like the old school computer graphics and the 'you get no help' message, that's pretty good :P

Coin Operative by davidsheadgames 2019-05-06T18:00:49Z

Good work! Love this take on the theme and I quite like the overall simple style / the "tutorial" cards. And of course chaos is always good fun :)

Deadrun by jcmoyer 2019-05-03T23:59:48Z

Great atmosphere! It was a bit too easy I think to just run passed stuff. It would have been great if the AI was perhaps a little bit smarter. It seems like the AI was move at player which meant that most of the time they were stuck in corners or on walls. But still it was a solid entry though I must admit I don't really see the connection to the theme. Overall great work though :)

BloodVirus by Team-on 2019-05-01T01:43:05Z

hmm seemed like some buttons for me were broken :/ not sure though, at least the how to play button was broken for sure. Perhaps I just didn't understand the build and hire buttons. The control of the units seemed okay though and I did like the graphics overall. It would have been nice to get some music and sounds in there but otherwise good work :)

Powerless by m110 2019-05-01T18:56:05Z

Nice entry :) The controls took a minute to adjust to but after that I had fun playing, good work!

Coin Defender by Nikos 2019-04-30T15:49:28Z

I was super confused at first but after experimenting for a bit I got it and I did quite enjoy the game. I think the coins being combined might be a little buggy, sometimes I'd have to keep moving coins around into each other before they'd eventually combine but overall I really like that concept and had fun with it. Well done :)

Choice Master by big-cow 2019-04-29T20:26:24Z

I really liked this concept :) The art looked great and the music was very peaceful. I think maybe some different backgrounds for the different stages in life could have been a nice touch but other than that I don't have much more feedback. Well done!

Loot Goblin by Zeaga 2019-05-01T01:33:04Z

Nice art work and retro feeling music :)

We Are Nuts! by kaeveris 2019-04-29T19:35:11Z

Good work :) All of your graphics look great. I will mention that for me the hearts were slightly off to the left so my last heart was getting cut in half. Also I will say that I liked the audio but I think some mixing could really help make it better. The main looping music is at a relatively low volume and the jump sound and buzzer are both a bit abrasive (the jump sound actually made me jump in my chair :P) overall good stuff :)

Frozen Yoghurt by cpx3 2019-05-01T16:04:25Z

Great work guys :) Really liked this game. Very simple and straight forward / quick to just get in and play. I really love the art style and the music / sound effects were great too.

Frozen Yoghurt by cpx3 2019-05-01T18:25:40Z

@cpx3 Nice! Congrats on your first game / first game jam! Hopefully its the first of many :)

Contract Cleric by Vinay Rao 2019-05-03T21:39:26Z

I agree with @enver-arco I think the concept is there but could use a little work. I like the art though. Good work :)

DEA-7H by b3agz 2019-04-29T20:31:40Z

I love the art work! This game looks really great :) Also a really interesting game concept, good job! I think only thing is that the menu page seemed a little broken or something. I could click the buttons (if they are even buttons). I eventually figured out the spacebar was the select but I couldn't change the selection. So yeah, menu could use some work I think but overall good job!

Timing of Ignatius by Danielk 2019-04-30T16:03:14Z

Nice :) Your game was pretty fun and if fit the theme really well. I thought the graphics were bit basic and it wold have been nice to see some animations but they were consistent so I think they worked well overall. I think the sound effects were also quite good but I feel like the main background music loop was a bit too short so it got really repetitive really quickly. But overall I liked your game a lot, good job!

Sacrifice by Dazzleisace 2019-04-30T21:23:25Z

I really liked the straightforward graphics and the sound effects are pretty good. It would have been nice to have some background music though. Sadly, I didn't really figure out how to play the game though. I was able to make farms and I think I did a sacrifice or two in my attempts to play but I lost very quickly. I think I may be missing something here.

Deenero by Carlos Salazar 2019-05-03T01:24:22Z

Didn't really get want to do at first but eventually got it. I think that the text resizing was a bit distracting, perhaps just settling with a smaller font would have been better. Also I think having some music and sounds would have really improved the mood of the game.

Money Heist by dmdmdmdm 2019-04-29T20:06:34Z

Good stuff! I like the quite literal interpretation of the theme :P I really liked the graphics and the game play was solid. I think you have a good variety of obstacles and your sound effects were quite nice. I think the looping background music was perhaps a little dull, something a little more exciting could have made it really feel like a get away rather than a leisurely stroll. Overall though, well done :)

Precious Memories by Brigart 2019-04-29T19:46:45Z

This is an interesting concept for a game. I like the idea of collecting memories and they affect your mood. I think some audio would have been a nice touch and the camera with a little bit buggy. Overall good work :)

Knight's Test by Kukareru Sekai 2019-05-03T23:31:38Z

Love that you made a game boy game for a game jam! Amazing stuff. I think the game looked great and I liked the old school music in the menu screen but it would have been great to get sounds throughout the game. Otherwise, good work :)

Keep yourself Alive by honzapat 2019-04-29T19:41:38Z

You and I ended up with a very similar concept :) Good stuff so far, definitely so sounds would make the game that much better and I think having the shoot be locked to just the mouse click would have been better.

Escape from Hell by Becher 2019-04-30T16:53:25Z

I pretty much agree with @antti-haavikko I think the graphics looked quite nice but I don't really get the game. I figured that collecting enough souls would make me stronger but I didn't manage to make that happen, unsure if that's what's supposed to happen. Outside of that though I'd say some music and sound effects could have really made this feel so much better. But overall, well done :)

Soul CATcher by hgdebarba 2019-05-01T21:09:29Z

I really liked the concept and the art work, though the game was honestly a bit too hard for me, but good job :)

Delivery Vamp by AVSC 2019-05-01T20:56:37Z

Nice looking art, some background music and sound effects would have been really nice, that and maybe a map or street signs or something to help figure out where things are. Good job though :)

Herding Cats by Al Bueche 2019-05-06T17:57:11Z

Nice work! I really like this concept, it's quite challenging but very fun. I think just some music and sound effects and this would be a top notch experience :)

Leech Weapon by Kiddy 2019-04-29T19:53:07Z

Good work :) You and I made kinda similar games, getting the feeling that zombie games are gonna be quite popular for this theme :P Overall you game is solid. A little feedback would be that your gun sound effect I think is a little too loud relative to the background music. Also, would be good to have zombies coming from all direction, could make it a little more diverse.

Coin War by jjones 2019-04-29T20:17:56Z

This is a really interesting idea! I think it gets a little bit tedious trying to beat everything but its a solid concept. I think maybe bumping up how long your spin last / increase the degree of your tilt could help with that. Regardless, solid entry, good job! :)

PROFIT by Profit Team 2019-04-30T00:57:48Z

This is great! Nice music and graphics :) Really don't have anything negative to say, I suppose my one call out is there's a little graphical bug where the loot description can run over the edge of the ui in the inventory. But that's a nitpick, you had a nice variety of enemies, the loot had funny descriptions, it was fun just walking around and exploring. Really well done!

Dungeon Life by Yadi 2019-05-01T22:50:29Z

Nice work :) The creepy dripping sound effect in the background and the low visibility really lended nicely to the dungeon mood

LD45 — Start with nothing

Beating around the bush by netmute 2019-10-12T14:11:07Z

Love your sound effects and overall vibe :)

incandescence by drtizzle 2019-10-12T14:20:35Z

I like your vibe but I do agree with an earlier comment I read which was that it felt a bit slow paced. I think the concept is cool and again the mood / vibe is quite nice but honestly I was just a bit bored while playing. I felt like my car was crawling along at like 3 miles per hour. There weren't really any obstacles to avoid to make me feel engaged. I was really just playing to find out what happened at the end. I like your visual effects. The rain looked nice and the clouds also look great.

Notorious Bum by Barbiche 2019-10-12T14:04:29Z

This game sadly just doesn't want to work for me :/ I tried both versions. I get through the intro bit and then I'm just stuck looking at a grey screen with the twitter bar on the side and because I can't see anything I can't get to a taxi in time so that ends the game. This concept looks cool though and the music is nice. The artwork from what I can tell is also quite nice.

No.thing by adliberum 2019-10-07T00:34:09Z

Nice entry @adliberum I think something I would have liked to have in the game would be some sound effects or music just to add to the mood a bit

Unraveling Nothing by Zachary Shah 2019-10-17T00:45:36Z

I really like the simple art style and the concept for the mechanics but it was just a bit frustrating trying to actually get anywhere. I think maybe having Nothing aim at the mouse or something could have helped. Good job though overall!

Cemetery Sweep by Locomule 2019-10-07T00:48:07Z

I quite liked this one after figuring out what it was I was supposed to be doing :P Nice work on this, I really like your main puzzle mechanic

Pit Fight by Alex Ferbrache 2019-10-07T00:40:00Z

Well done! My first couple of attempts the game seemed broken but once the AI was working the game was pretty fun :)

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-07T00:03:12Z

Yeah that's very true @davidsheadgames this one doesn't super fit nicely in that Start With Nothing theming. I probably should have looked for ways to make it feel more like you were in need of items your didn't have. Had I focused on that a bit more I think adding some basic item collection "puzzles" or something like that might have been a good fit.

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-07T00:29:20Z

Thanks so much for playing and for your feedback @kazatan yeah, that's fair enough. The movement / animations are definitely one of those things I'd have liked to spend more time polishing up and fine tuning.

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-07T00:51:17Z

@snufkinshat definitely! I tried to have a knock back when you hit enemies but I think at times its a bit buggy :/ Oh well, all just part of making games real quick :P

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-07T00:52:10Z

Lol, thanks @nachtwitch yeah I thought of that one and it stuck simply because after spinning my wheels on names for like 10 minutes that was the only like kinda good name I could come up with :P

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-08T21:44:30Z

Thanks so much @ferdi !

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-10T02:45:17Z

Hurray! A scary boss, I did it! lol Thanks for playing @shrapx

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-10T13:59:02Z

Thanks so much @amye123 and please do! I'd love to know what you think of the boss

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-11T17:16:16Z

Yeah! I think that'd be really cool. I'll have to think about that some more @tort60091

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-12T14:52:32Z

Lol Hurray! I love hearing that The Void scared you! @netmute Thanks for playing!

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-12T14:53:21Z

@robowarrior1982 That is a really good idea! If I ever continue working on this or something similar I will definitely look to do something like that.

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-16T20:38:26Z

Thanks for the feedback @silkworm-sweatshop yeah that's fair enough, I wanted to try to find a balance between the music and sound effects. I wanted to make the effects heard but only barely noticed so that the music remains at the forefront but I think you're definitely right that taking some time to level that out a bit would be good :)

The Void by Norris Eldridge 2019-10-17T13:59:26Z

Thanks for playing my game @derek-volker I'm really glad to hear you thought the music was good :) Yeah, I am admittedly not an artist so my go to is always very low pixel artwork :P

The Game of Mao by Danny88881 2019-10-08T02:09:25Z

This is a fantastic game! It's simple but really fun to figure out. I like the chill music to offset the difficulty too :P

Start With No Game by davidsheadgames 2019-10-07T00:11:52Z

This is super unique, really liked this one. I think the only thing I would have really liked to have seen is some music and of course you can always go crazy with the components to add. Perhaps even a sounds / music component? Great work on this one!

Deadrun II by jcmoyer 2019-10-07T00:43:25Z

I really like your artwork!

Scrap Attack by TheseusInABottle 2019-10-08T01:47:21Z

Solid entry! I liked your music and your sound effects :) I was a little confused at first as to what I was supposed to be doing so I think a brief tutorial screen or something at the beginning would have been nice. Good job!

Captain Chicken and his N.O.T.H.In.G. by Igoreshka 2019-10-07T03:35:27Z

Nicely done! I really like your take on the theme and I love the pixel chicken!

Stolen Goods by DrRozza 2019-10-11T04:32:41Z

I really liked the music, perfect fit for this game. I think my only complaint is I kept getting stuck on walls. I think some basic pathfinding or just sliding collision around objects would have made this game feel that much better to play. Good work overall though!

Ravenous Void by Al Bueche 2019-10-07T00:17:14Z

I like your dark mood / lighting. I also liked that you had music in there but I'm not sure if it fit the darkness. I'd also say that moving around in the dark was super disorienting. I think perhaps getting some more unique environmental landmarks / textures would have helped with that. Overall, good stuff!

END WITH FIRE by ArithiPathic 2019-10-11T03:00:02Z

Really nice work on this one! I really liked the music and the sound effect, the artwork is quite nice, and overall I think this is a really cool concept executed really well :)

Night Lights by archfan7411 2019-10-08T01:51:08Z

Good job! I really like your artwork and music. There seems to be a bug with the collision with the flies where if you come at them at just the right angle you don't actually collect them you just slide. I actually hit the first and that caused me to be confused as to what I was meant to be doing. But, my second attempt at collecting the flies worked :) Again, good work!

Night Lights by archfan7411 2019-10-08T01:51:09Z

Darkness is the nothing by Nadya Khromenkova 2019-10-08T19:47:46Z

Felt a little stiff to control but I really liked your artwork and atmosphere. The music was perfect for this tone. I think just a couple sound effects would have really elevated this one up just that little bit more. Good work! :)

Prison Escape by shaurya_juneja 2019-10-16T16:54:26Z

Yeah I agree with @almighty-games the insane level of precision does not make for a fun level in my opinion. That and something I'd had is that I'd recommend making it so the music doesn't restart on death. The majority of my time playing was spent in silence then about 2 seconds of a song, rinse and repeat. Also I felt like your death sound did not really match the kid visuals.

LD46 — Keep it alive

The Wait by devilqube 2020-04-27T02:04:39Z

I think the control scheme is a bit odd. I think maybe having the player point towards the mouse and then use WASD to move. Then like an FPS you'd be able to strafe. Turning with the A and D keys always feels a bit off to me unless is a racing game. Additionally, I wasn't really sure what I was doing during the game. I was picking stuff up and being told that I didn't have matches and that I needed to keep the fire lit but I really didn't know what to do about that. Am I supposed to drop stuff on the fire? How do I do that? Is this happening automatically? If so, when? I couldn't tell. Maybe some more audio or visual cues to let you know you're on the right track. You've done that a bit with the first bit of dialogue staying that the logs is handy. I think just a bit more direction on the outset and feedback would have helped a lot.

Tetralon by frosty 2020-04-26T02:37:22Z

This is a very unique concept and I had a lot of fun with it :) I was a bit lost at first but once I understood what to do I had a good time with it. Good job! I think perhaps just putting a brief little instructional text on the menu screen and some nice ambient or background music would have kicked this one up just a bit more.

Blood Oath by alexhonor 2020-04-24T20:03:14Z

I love the audio of this game! Really fantastic work in this department. I think having a landing page / menu before jumping right into it would have been great and same thing as the outro. I think would be nice to have an ending page or just bring you back to a main menu at the end.

PostCat by Number6406 2020-04-26T20:11:04Z

Really charming graphics and music and the concept is really unique too! Well done on this one :)

LavaLampSpaceMission by Fabian G 2020-04-26T04:01:51Z

I think this is a really cool idea but needs some love. I think the game is a bit hard right off the bat. Finding a way to gradually introduce challenge would have been nice. I also think that without music the experience just feels a bit lacking.

Soul Blazer by Lukas TAMAYO 2020-04-24T17:48:45Z

Very cool entry! I think the art and sound design are great. There's probably a little bit of clean up work to be done around the wall corners to the lighting doesn't show that overlap and it looks consistent. But overall, really solid from a polish stand point.

I was a bit lost at first though and had to turn to the comments to get me going. But once I knew want to do and started going, I thought it was a really unique and interesting concept. So, with that, I think that just trying to make the initial room a little more obvious and guiding the player towards the first door would go a long ways towards making players aren't lost. Perhaps some cryptic markings on the floor or something like that.

The Call of the Unicore by sndr 2020-04-20T17:41:30Z

Love the art work! Your game looks great and yes, very similar concept to my game but your's is like if mine was taken to the next level :) I really like the idea of needing to monitor your furry friend's different needs and running out to collect specific items. Really great job on this one!

On Air by Beebo Studios 2020-04-22T23:34:06Z

I really love the take on the theme! Really nice game overall. I think it's great how the music shifts as you move throughout. This is a really unique concept and I could see this being expended to be something really great.

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-20T01:24:17Z

Thanks man! Yeah I definitely had to keep my scope in check this time around.

You know, I had considered holding versus pressing the mouse each time and to me the rapid click adds to the chaos of it so I ultimately landed on going this way. That said I think I've gotten that feedback before so maybe I'm the only one lol

Thanks for playing my game, David! And thanks for the positive feedback!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-20T17:26:29Z

Wow! Tons of folks came played, thanks everyone! And thanks so much for all the great feedback! Many of you are really liking the music which is great :) It was first time doing a western styled soundtrack so I'm really happy with how it all turned out.

@quinn-patrick Yeah, that's totally fair! I rush put in bourbon bottles for the bandits to drop that with give you a heart. I agree that the health system in general was a bit underdeveloped and not terribly clear. I basically put something in to get it functional but didn't ever get around to really tuning it. In hindsight, I think a simple health bar would have likely been more clear than that hearts. That's probably something I'd change if I were to go back and iterate on this one.

@jonathanjoseph Same! I really wish I had more time to had more content. Different types of enemies and environments. I think it could be really fun and hilarious to essentially turn this into an Oregon Trail type game where you have to escort this flower across the country. Along the way bandits are trying to steal it and there could be river crossing missions, snowy mountain levels, etc. Who knows? Maybe I can make some time to do that as a post jam version :)

@theartifacts Yeah I agree, its a bit of a stretch on the theme but in all honesty I really wasn't feeling the theme. I had originally thought about starting the game as a farming simulator game and then suddenly ninjas would bust in and steal all your crops so it just totally goes against where you think the game is going. I figured a lot of folks would be doing farming games this time around so throwing in some good ol fashioned subversion is nice. As you can see though I strayed pretty much immediately from that concept though as I knew I wouldn't have enough time to develop it.

@sndr Thanks! Yeah, I always feel that setup is really important. I tend to focus on polish early. That usually means I have a game that isn't terribly unique or interesting concept-wise but is at least pretty polished. I will definitely go check yours out!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-21T02:23:35Z

Thanks so much, Kristian!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-21T03:10:42Z

Hey @twistashio thanks so much for the feedback! Really awesome to hear you liked the game and thought the music was amazing :) Yeah the AI can be pretty tough to deal with. At one point they were much much harder, the bullets moved faster and they shot 3 bullets at a time, yeah, that was a bit much lol Anyways, thanks again for playing my game!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-21T03:33:22Z

Thanks @tater-hater for playing my game! Man, it's so great to hear all this love for the music! This was first foray into doing Western music so I definitely have to keep exploring this avenue :)

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-22T06:13:03Z

Hey @diego-escalante thanks so much for playing and for the great feedback! I really agree with a lot of your points and feel very much the same way. I keep coming back to it and actually wanting to iterate on it so I think that's a good sign. And yes! I'm really proud of that initial title text pop in synced with the music! That's like pretty much the only thing that I super remember about old westerns so I knew I needed to have that.

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-22T06:48:12Z

Thanks @dandala88 :) Really appreciate you giving my game a shot and your feedback!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-22T07:05:04Z

Thanks @artemftw!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-22T14:22:27Z

Thanks for the feedback @jsec! I agree, the game play as is is shallow. I think adding just a handful of different additional objectives, environmental hazards that could be used both against you or the bandits, etc would really add quite a bit to the game. I think if I were to add more to this game I'd look to add more levels both to change up the visuals but also give a chance for new mechanics to get added in over time.

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-22T17:03:06Z

Absolutely @ponypen ! I very much want to grow the game and expand it by introducing extra mechanics. Thanks so much for playing it and for your feedback :)

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-22T18:09:03Z

@blobo yeah the cactus do make you flash and bounce you back a bit but I think you're right. Adding a bit more polish in that taking damage area would have been great. I'm not super happy with the health in general in this current iteration of the game. I've started adding polish to put up a post jam version once all the voting is done. I will definitely be looking to improve this area as a part of that effort.

Thanks for playing my game and for your feedback!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-22T18:39:03Z

@gwinnell yes! Nicely done! And absolutely, I'm working on a post jam version and faster retries is at the top of my priorities list! I keep trying to get higher scores too and realizing how long it takes just to try again. Thanks for playing my game and thanks for the feedback :)

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-23T13:10:18Z

@svarttand hey thanks for playing and for your feedback! Based on that, maybe check out my post jam update version which maybe added screen shake and particle effects :P

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-23T13:20:22Z

@vivek-sharma20 hey thanks for playing my game! Happy to hear you had fun and felt overall the theme worked pretty well.

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-23T17:10:11Z

Hey @sergei thanks for playing and for your feedback! Be sure to check out the updated version as that is something that's been addressed. In the updated version, you can now skip the dialog even the first time around by clicking and when you do a try it skips the entire intro.

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-26T04:25:17Z

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-26T14:17:30Z

Hey @fabian-g thanks so much for playing and for your feedback! If you want, checkout my post update version where you can now skip the dialogue with just a couple mouse clicks and then when you retry the entire intro is skipped so you can just keep trying! There's also a handful of other balance tweaks and visual improvements :)

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-26T22:17:07Z

Thanks @joemid! I'm glad at least one person understood the fistful of dollars reference :) thanks for playing!

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-27T23:11:15Z

Hey @hornicar thanks so much for your feedback and for checking out my game! Absolutely agreed on the retry time, if you wanted to give it another go, please do checkout my post jam updated! I makes it so you can skip the intro just by clicking, on retry the entire intro is just skipped, and then some bug fixes and visual improvements.

A Fistful of Daisies by Norris Eldridge 2020-04-29T14:37:51Z

hey @black-flag thanks for playing my game and for the feedback! Yeah, I think you might be right there. It can be a bit tough to dodge the bullets, probably a lot more tweaking could be done there. I also think perhaps a proper dodge move like a roll might help. Thanks again for playing!

Gunther's Plant πŸ˜ƒ by Lemons 2020-04-27T02:08:06Z

I love it! Super silly, the voice acting is great. Game is solid. Some weird visuals sometimes and you can see the seems between tiles. Overall, great work though!

Friendly Fire by Diego Escalante 2020-04-22T06:22:04Z

This game has a lot of charm to it :) Really like the audio and the pixel art. I think the concept is good too but I think opening the chests takes a smidge too long. I think it'd feel better to have the chests open faster even if that meant needing to increase other speeds to still get the risk trade off balanced. Really great work!

Conway's Garden of Life by davidsheadgames 2020-04-20T01:37:16Z

At first I did not get this game but I'm not strangely addicted. This does feel like it could be a sort of idle game with the goal really just being to make the numbers go up. Very nice work on this game. I'm really curious what's going on underneath the hood but I definitely want to poke around in game some more first.

DANGER! Alien Cow Thieves! by Shredmer 2020-04-24T21:29:15Z

The overall level of polish on this project is really great! The art work looks great and the music and sound effects are perfect. Event mixing of all the sounds is really solid. The game play itself is simple enough that anyone could pick it up and play but still has enough going on that it can get chaotic and challenging. Very nice!

Keep the Dream Alive! by DrumGadget_433 2020-04-26T20:17:34Z

Nicely done! I love the art and the music! The coach is so expressive and the game is really charming and funny :) I think the gameplay gets a bit boring after you play for a while but yeah, it was still a lot of fun while I played it.

Innocuous Pong by MachWerx 2020-04-26T02:25:59Z

I think the concept for this one is great, really unique. The controls unfortunately didn't quite work out for me. I often found my mouse getting stuck at the top of the screen and then prevented me from reaching the ball. It's a bummer that the controls ended up costing me a bit of my enjoyment and ended up shortening how long I was willing to play the game. I think this game could be really great though with some more time to polish it up and really nail the controls. Also I think picking up the pace would have made it a bit more enjoyable too. Perhaps it got faster later on in the game and I just didn't get to that point.

Innocuous Pong by MachWerx 2020-04-26T02:39:08Z

Hey @machwerx yup, playing the WebGL version. I tried a couple of times to get the mouse focused in the game but didn't manage to get it to work. I'll give it another go and see if I can get it working though so I can at least get to 15!

Innocuous Pong by MachWerx 2020-04-26T02:45:01Z

Alright @machwerx you are absolutely right, getting to 15 is worth it lol Also, apparently I needed to click a couple of times to get it properly maximized and focused. Thanks for the prompt to give your game another shot!

Floyd's Fire by BinaryPrinciple 2020-04-26T03:55:51Z

Like many others, I quite liked the art / visuals of the game. I think some nice ambient music or sound effects would have gone a long ways towards setting the mood. The intro text was a bit small, it would have been nice if that intro UI was dynamic. I noticed that it stays the same size fullscreen or not. Additionally, I didn't really get what I was meant to be doing with the ghosts. I just kept trying to find a path around them or ran through them quickly. I think a mini tutorial would have helped a bit on this front.

Lone by Kristian Kurktchiev 2020-04-21T01:18:45Z

Nice work! Music is great and I quite like the visuals.

The Race Against Death by Salmonmeagar 2020-04-20T22:58:20Z

Loved this one! Really like the graphics and the audio. Death's laugh is perfect. Really challenging too! Well done!

Tumbleweed by Brenan 2020-04-23T04:03:48Z

Outstanding visuals! This game looks incredible :) The lonely soundtrack really sets a perfect mood for this whole experience as well. Kudos to all of you that worked on this game! Truly this is something to be proud of!

The Fire Must Go On by Owinmowe 2020-04-21T00:07:04Z

Nicely done! A bit odd that the menu is in Spanish and then the rest of it is English. That aside, really solid entry. I was a bit confused by the fact that you have to get to the red tile, then hold that direction and press space. Seeing as it looks like a floor I figured I should have been able to walk right on to it. Perhaps making it look like a door would have made it more natural that you need to do something other than walk on it. That or just make it so stepping on it moves you to the next section.

Blue by tri11paragon 2020-04-21T01:13:11Z

Nicely done! Your artwork looks great and the music is quite nice to listen too :)

It's Alive! ...Keep it That Way by erkoply 2020-04-20T17:44:03Z

Awesome work! I really love the visual style you went with and the game itself is kind like virtual Operation :) Nicely done!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Capsaiciner by a333 2021-04-26T22:11:39Z

Really, really like the art style on this one! And of course a very funny concept to begin with. Nice work!

Deep & Deeper by warxen 2021-04-26T23:53:19Z

Love this entry! The art looks really great and it sounds good too. The concept is also super unique! I love the little touches on this one like the little graphic showing that they're talking or the arrow / AD key icons next to the players. Really polished!

DDR: Dive Dive Revolution by Tyrannas 2021-04-27T00:00:41Z

Great concept and the art is great! That 6 streak one too hard for me and my dumb fingers though lol XD

One-Butt Alien Corridor by PeachTreeOath 2021-04-29T21:03:58Z

Really solid game! I think the polish could be better but the core mechanic is very simple but solid. I'd love to see a full on version of this game. I think the turning is a little bit too slow but perhaps that's the point / adds to the strategy of it. I do wonder if a faster paced version of this with faster turn rate would work as well? Regardless, great work!

Mine Cards by Rose 2021-04-27T00:22:17Z

Awesome game! Just say here and played for a good 30+ minutes at least. Some music / sound effects would have been nice but what's here is super polished and well put together. Good work!

Get to the choppa! by cvetk0 2021-04-29T20:25:52Z

Really love this kind of art style! Music I think sounds great, very epic, though I'm not 100% sure it super fits with the visuals. I think the writing is solid as well. I think the retro text box style would have been a nice touch though / made longer dialogue a bit more manageable to parse. By that I mean each paragraph is its own text box, text appears one character at a time, and you can click through it to move to the next chunk of text.

Ari's Potion Shop by jeroenpx 2021-04-27T22:05:28Z

Really great work, what an amazingly high quality entry! The sound effects are great, same with the art, very cute. I think the only thing this was lacking was a conclusion. Very fun and addicting though.

Tripus's Very Deep Adventure by Kornel 2021-04-26T23:16:02Z

Nice work team! This is a great entry, very highly polished! The music is great, the art style is very cute. I think some block breaking / collecting sound effects would have added a bit to the experience but what you have here is great.

Tripus's Very Deep Adventure by Kornel 2021-04-26T23:36:20Z

@michal I don't remember my score now, guess I'll have to play again now lol

I mean it'd be cool if you had added in some sound effects that played when the blocks were broken or when you collect the yellow blocks :)

Tripus's Very Deep Adventure by Kornel 2021-04-26T23:38:08Z

Actually, I'm sorry @michal I do hear some sound effects in there now lol I guess before I was so focused on the music / voice lines that I missed that there were other sound effects going on in there too.

Also on attempt number 2 I managed to get a score of 92505 and I'm happy with that score lol

Duggy by neowhoru 2021-04-27T18:51:55Z

Awesome! Really love this entry. Very cute art style and sound effects. The polish / attention to detail is really great. Very nicely done!

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-28T16:33:05Z

Super pretty game! The music / sound effects were great as well. I really liked this interpretation of the deeper and deeper theme as well. Great work!

Tunnel of Love: I'm Digging It by chelC 2021-04-26T19:02:38Z

This game is hilarious and a ton of fun to place, nice work!

The Chasm by Re-Markable 2021-04-28T20:01:23Z

Great work! The central mechanic is quite good and works really well and the environmental art is fantastic!

A Cat in the Aliens' Lair by Sheinxy 2021-04-29T22:46:17Z

Awesome! The second level was really hard for me until I realized I was just way overthinking it lol The game works really well, the art and music is solid and the story / writing is really well done! Good work!

Veiled Depth by zchangvx 2021-04-28T17:45:29Z

The atmosphere is great! The art and audio all works together quite nicely :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-26T16:17:44Z

Hey thanks so much for the feedback @stewmega! Yeah I generally don't enjoy them either lol first time making one so I'm happy to hear I managed to make something at least relaxing and enjoyable!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-26T20:50:42Z

Absolutely true @dante2001! Honestly I just super did not have time to make actually game play lol so poem it was!

Thanks so much @keylime! I had to try out a couple different styles and iterated through quite a few versions before I ended up with something I was happy with.

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-26T22:52:24Z

Thanks so much @elektroney!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-26T23:02:13Z

Yeah that's totally fair @traffle. Thanks for your feedback. Initially I really didn't know where I was going with it and when I realized I didn't have enough time to implement an actual game I landed on just using them as scenery more than anything and more just go for an experience.

My initial concept was going to be fight a giant squid or something like that but just couldn't think of how I'd really want to make that work. Who knows, maybe some day I can come back to that idea.

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-26T23:17:35Z

Thanks so much @rose! Yeah it's the whale you bumped into lol It's great to hear that it was an engaging experience and that you liked the music. I was hoping a least a handful of people would encounter that whale and get curious about it :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-27T06:39:18Z

Thanks @tengusheath and @mololo! Really excited to hear that you both enjoyed the music :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-27T15:11:30Z

Thank you @michal and @tetrapteryx for playing and for your feedback! It's so great to get so much feedback that people are enjoying the overall mood and atmosphere of my little game :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-27T21:18:04Z

Thanks for the feedback @albertnez! Really great to hear that it feels smooth and feels like something a bit unique and different :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-27T23:33:46Z

Thanks @scidev! Yeah I think you're absolutely right. I was planning on doing some kind of water current to sort of push the player back towards the path if they start the stray too far but ultimately didn't have time to implement it. I also wish I could have had some more time to pull together a real ending with a real sense of pay off. Thanks again for playing and for the feedback!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T03:03:02Z

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback @hcs-hades! And yeah, I love the way the whale turned out too :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T03:53:51Z

Awesome! Thank you for your feedback @corbeng! I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T15:39:30Z

@tush4r wow thank you so much! I do have other games from previous jams. If you want good music / audio, I'm particularly proud of https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/a-fistful-of-daisies and https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/helsing

@leorid you know I didn't even think about that but it is definitely nice to have a game that people are finding to be a nice / relaxing experience. This sort of thing is usually way outside what I'd usually try to make so I'm glad I took a chance.

@windfall890 thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I really wanted to make something that felt like it was a hand crafted / "paper doll" experience. I totally agree, more of a journey would be great, honestly based on the reception I'm considering try to build out a longer experience. And thank you for your compliments on my art style! I'm definitely no artist so it's very nice to get that kind of reception :)

@thebox193 thank you, you're comment makes me feel good inside! I never really get an opportunity to try my hand at writing so it was great to give that a go for change. Glad it was well received!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T19:38:38Z

Thank you for the feedback @jaoel! I absolutely agree, the ending is definitely abrupt, definitely something I'd like to have better thought out / spent more time on if I had more time. And that's awesome! Yeah, I personally really liked that experience as well so I'm glad at least one other person got that satisfaction of bumping into the whale lol

And good call out! I will look and make sure I have a thumbnail added.

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T20:47:02Z

Thanks for your feedback @totteriludum! Really happy to hear you enjoyed it! Your critique is something I've been thinking about since completing the jam. I'd really like to find a balance between slower-paced/story-driven and something a bit more "gamey". I definitely want to find ways to keep players engaged and interested without ruining the overall tone. I think some simple evasion type gameplay or maybe some puzzle solving could add a bit more to the overall experience.

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T23:35:03Z

Thanks for your feedback @microchasm! Yeah I was really trying to go for the papercraft aesthetic :) And totally! Yeah I was just feeling inspired by the idea of rediscovering / exploring a time that's been swept up and long forgotten.

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-29T22:24:14Z

Thanks for the kind words @flying-dog-fish! My own personal goal for this jam was to make a pretty game and I felt good about the end result overall so it's great to get some of the validation back :)

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-30T15:52:18Z

Thanks for playing and for your feedback @nekowei!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-05-03T15:37:15Z

Thanks for playing @quoclon! And yeah, I absolutely agree with your feedback. I think finding ways to gamify the experience just a bit and a much more satisfying conclusion would really go a long way.

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-05-04T15:21:28Z

Thanks @ismael-rodriguez! Yeah, I too wish there was more to do lol really great to get your positive feedback on the art style and overall experience though!

@cvetk0 Thank you for your feedback and agreed, same here. The older I get the more okay I am with smaller and less conventional games. I'll definitely have to go check out Mutazione!

Thank you @etrealjunior! Yeah I was very much trying to create a handcrafted / story book type of look and feel so I'm glad to hear that came across in my game.

No sun by Croosle 2021-04-27T20:39:36Z

Really like the art style / color palette for your game! The music is quite epic as well! Nice work :)

The Deepest Thoughts by Aaronacus 2021-04-27T18:06:28Z

Nice work! I like the minimalist art style and the music is quite nice. I like the way it shifts over time. For me the web version text was a bit too big so it got cut off on the edges of the screen. For the most part that was fine but there was one longer text that was actually a bit hard to read because of it. I think the ending glitched out for a me a bit as well because the large text was on top of the white text for the end game. But overall, really solid work!

Below the Ocean by Ismael Rodriguez 2021-04-30T23:27:22Z

Holy crap! Can I get this on the switch? lol seriously this is a super highly polished game. I'm very impressed by this level of quality in such a short amount of time. Great work!

We Have to Go Deeper! by Scott Steffes 2021-04-27T23:31:45Z

Wow, holy crap! This game looks absolutely amazing. This like like a full on professional quality game. I'm super impressed!

Shork by CrispyPin 2021-04-29T16:01:27Z

The concept of a shark driving a sub is pretty great lol I really like your art style. I think moving the camera back a bit would have been nice. As it is, it's actually a little difficult to enjoy the environment because the camera is so close to the player.

Derelict Dive by tetrapteryx 2021-04-26T21:39:11Z

Nice work on this one! I really liked the concept for this game. I think the art style is quite pretty. I think some times the background was a bit hard to tell if it was going to be an obstacle or not but overall a great entry!

The Deepest Dungeon by Susumu Asaga 2021-04-27T22:48:44Z

Nicely done! I really like your implementation of this clicker game and the art style and music work together really well.

Corona 69 by Elektroney 2021-04-26T22:52:06Z

Nice entry! I thought the music and ambient sound effects were great!

Lost by SciDev 2021-04-27T23:38:27Z

I super liked the simple style of the graphics and the way the music changes pitch as you change levels. Super cool idea. I think the "ping" effect is a bit rough / harsh.

They Hear You by SakuH 2021-04-26T23:26:09Z

I think the concept for this game is great and the visual implementation of being able to see your footsteps is great! It's a smidge frustrating though to have enemies walk into when you've just started a level and haven't even take a step yet. So maybe the AI could be initially "avoiding" the player until they've made their first step. I think this would make the game feel a whole lot more fair to the player.

BashRL by luddegodofpain 2021-04-29T21:10:58Z

Took me a bit to figure out what exactly was going on in this game but it was well worth hanging in there for. This is a super unique concept and really well executed! Good work!

Seven by Str8griz 2021-04-28T03:08:51Z

This is a really cool concept! Good work!

Alien Abyss by Tom Stephenson 2021-04-26T21:10:53Z

Nice! I like the simple art style and you've incorporated it really cleanly into the webpage as well! Music loop was a little bit short so it got a bit repetitive after a while so it would have been nice to have some diversity but all said I had fun with it!

Deep plat-o-ball by Anshul K 2021-04-30T05:25:32Z

Super short and simple but fun nonetheless!

PANEMUAN by etrealjunior 2021-05-04T15:28:50Z

Hey, stopping by after you left such great feedback on my entry. I actually played your game a few days ago but didn't leave a comment because I agreed with a lot of what other have already brought up. I really like your hand drawn art style. It's simple but effective and serves the game's overall tone well. Also quite liked the vocal effect you had on the voice lines. It actually really reminded me of Dormin from Shadow of the Colossus. Good work!

Toxicity Run by StefGrizzly 2021-04-26T21:15:20Z

Nice work! I will say I think the "cursor in the middle" mini games seems a bit tough or perhaps even bugged because I lost to that one just about every time. All the others worked just fine though. I could actually see this being a really great "learn to type" product for kids.

Intiqaam - The Revenge by TheAwesomeShaz 2021-04-28T03:11:42Z

Wow, this is really impressive! Good work on this! I really like the simplified art style.

Insomnia by Newrybenson 2021-04-27T19:02:47Z

Nice work! I think adding in some extra mechanics with each dream level would have been nice. For example, maybe gravity is a different value in one, you move faster in another, controls are inverted, the camera has some extra effects on it, the sheep start moving around are talking to you or something. Just an extra bit to keep the player invested in what the next stage might hold. Could also then introduce more puzzle like elements for finding those bottles. Great entry though, tons of potential here!

Into the Deep by Adam K 2021-04-27T22:55:44Z

Nice entry! And nice game name! :P

Dangerous Depths by Mololo 2021-04-26T23:29:09Z

Great first game and great entry! The submarine and all the other assets look great! The level background is a bit boxy but this is an awesome first game :)

Slumber by KepperSnapper 2021-04-28T17:21:27Z

Very unique concept and this level of polish is super impressive for just a couple of days of work! Very nicely done! :)

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T20:54:08Z

Nice work! The game is great, only thing I think I'd suggest is making the music slightly louder. The music volume relative to the sound effects volume I think is a bit low.

Deeper in space by Demo20 2021-04-27T20:46:50Z

Great work! I think the art looks really nice. The game feel of just moving around I think is really good. I think the only thing I'd have liked to see is more level diversity beyond just the numbers of enemies. Adding in some nice scenery / obstacles would have gone a long way I think. Though of course that adds some complexity in terms of enemy AI. But over all, nice work!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Demon Dash by Norris Eldridge 2022-10-04T20:49:35Z

@davidsheadgames Hey man, same here! I was very excited to see you posted a game, haven't had a chance to give a shot yet but the art work in the screenshots looks fantastic!

And thanks! I quite enjoyed the audio of it all this time around and that's totally valid. I ended up reusing art from a previous game to make this so it works but not ideal that's for sure. And yeah I considered making multiple levels but just didn't have the time for it this go around so I just had to keep it simple.

As far as picking up artifacts, its infinite really just like waves. When you pick up one, a new one spawns somewhere else. The artifacts was actually a rather last minute addition in an attempt to find some sort of way to motivate players to go explore and move around rather than camp in a corner somewhere. I think given more time having this translate to points and a leaderboard would have been nice or perhaps and even better motivator may have been different weapons or maybe health items?

WOW! This game is amazing! Loved it. Simple but super super fun. Well done.

Chesburgrellia by niborious 2018-04-25T06:20:41Z

Nice work! Really like the style of the art work. It was a little confusing at first because I didn't know I had to click the order when I was done to send it off. Perhaps it'd be better to just have it auto send? or perhaps have orders go out on a timer and you could maybe get bonuses for more orders completed at a time? Just some suggestions :P

Hot Meals by Thygrrr 2018-04-24T00:40:29Z

Ha! This game is awesome. Excellent concept. I could very much picture this being hilarious / a blast to play with friends.

Ways of Being by Turncoda 2018-04-25T06:28:29Z

Very interesting concept. My only complaint is that it was a little hard at times to understand where I could and could not go into 2D mode.

Racing Defender by nicksmaddog 2018-04-24T22:24:57Z

I was a little confused on how to play the game at first but overall it's a very interesting concept! Well done!

Silence of the Chickens by Tayfun 2018-04-25T06:32:32Z

I agree with what @jackrugile said. Really like the concept and the art but it was a little awkward to control and the messaging of what's happening in the game would be good and would probably make the game feel loads better.

LD41 - Pet Defense by Shadowl33ch 2018-04-24T22:15:04Z

Nicely done! I think the towers are maybe a little too good though :P but I'd definitely like to see this game polished up and fine tuned!

On The Fly by qkjosh 2018-04-24T15:13:54Z

Wow! This game looks amazing from the images previewed here! Downloading now!

On The Fly by qkjosh 2018-04-24T15:24:17Z

So this is a very cool game. Graphics are flat out fantastic! My only "complaint" or critique would be it would be nice to had in a variation to the gameplay. But otherwise, very well done!

unBLOCK the exit! by fjlucas 2018-04-27T15:51:30Z

Nicely done! Really liked this a lot. I'd love to see this more flushed out with maybe different types of puzzle mechanics / puzzle blocks. I really liked the overall style of the game.

Helsing by davidsheadgames 2018-04-25T06:11:56Z

@PandaCultist Yes! We were talking about that earlier today. More puzzle mechanics would absolutely be the next steps to improve this game. We even talked about doing things like destructible environments / knocking over pillars to make bridges / use levers to open up secret passage ways. If only we had more time :P

Helsing by davidsheadgames 2018-04-25T06:49:46Z

@justalocalhero thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback and it's great to hear you liked the game :)

Helsing by davidsheadgames 2018-04-27T15:30:56Z

Hey @dankar what would you want to see in the game that would make it feel more like a game you'd actually go out and buy?
