The visuals and music ooze style, and the particle effects are really cool. Took me a while to figure out how things work, but I guess that's part of the game! I did think it was weird that the command to change directories was 'move' instead of 'cd' and it drove me crazy that there's no 'clear'/'cls' command... :D Really great entry!
Neat concept. I kept wanting to type ls instead of look. I noticed unity webgl fails to load in chrome on MacOS. It works fine in Firefox. The only thing I don't like is the fuzzyness around the letters. Makes it too hard to read.
@otresnjak thanks man, everything just really came together with this entry for us :)
You actually missed a thing though, we do have all three commands you are advertising, but as pickups ;) In rougelike fashion, we wanted the player to be underpowered from start, so look (only see one thing in the dir), and move (only move to "adjacent" directories), felt like good additions. Both cd, and ls would otherwise perform as you would expect, if you would have found them ;)
@frompdx Cool cool. Krexor actually wanted to fix the glow on the letters, while I thought it looked nice, although on smaller screens it becomes a pain. Could be an opt-out i suppose
@luddegodofpain aaahhh nice! I need to take another crask at this then! :D
Couldn't get it to work on my default browser.. but using another worked :v: Very interesting concept, nice art style. Didn't venture into it too deep, and I am not a good console admin.
Very good idea! Love the graphics!
@xparker thanks for the feedback m8 :)
@superfishboy <3
I could not figure out how to get rid of a firewall/modifier that kept me from progressing further in the game:
Unbenannt4.PNG
@jeremia I think i found the bug there. After you ssh, modifiers arent cleared, but stays in effect if you ssh from a dir which has one :p
Gonna fix and update!
@jeremia problem should be fixed now, thanks for helping out! :)
Good game
Really clever idea, it's one of the most original game I've seen in a jam. And the execution is almost flawless.
The writing is good, the graphics are really cool and and unique, the mecanics are well designed and taught.
My only complaints would perhaps be that the music theme gets quite repetitive
@marcenat Hey man, thanks for the kind words :)
I know my music leaves something to be desired, and im ok with that for now (until the next jam!)

Its also terminal based, but a puzzler, not a rougelike
Took me a bit to figure out what exactly was going on in this game but it was well worth hanging in there for. This is a super unique concept and really well executed! Good work!
Funny to see such nice graphics for a 'terminal based game' :). My muscle memory for unix commands was definitely making this harder than it should, but the game was very nice!. It takes creativity to turn the everyday filesystem into a virtual world with 'creatures' and combat system, as well as the IP and character system to force the game to move. Well done!
Awesome game! I loved the aesthetic and had a lot of fun traversing through the server. A really neat take on rogue-like in a CLI. Hope you keep working on it and expand it more!
(Also thank you for implementing tab complete! a lot of game terminals miss it but it's such a big part of my muscle memory, it feels wrong when it's not there)
Really unique concept here, and it felt polished and played well! I think the only thing that held back my immersion is my own lack of knowledge in the topic. Even so, I found myself going much further than I initially expected. It certainly started giving me a "hacker" power fantasy.
Really enjoyed the graphics here (which is usually not a very strong point in text-based games), they compliment the overall theme of the game a lot. Was fun exploring the "world" and the visuals help navigating the different directories and give a sense of where you are at currently. Having commands like cd and ls not available at the start was the right amount of frustrating (muscle memory being a huge disadvantage suddenly) and makes unlocking them later on feel great. Having some colours/formatting/alignment in the output of the commands could have helped with readability a bit sometimes, especially when you're quickly switching move/look commands searching for a specific directory.
Love hacking games and rogue-likes, and you've done a wonderful job of mixing the two. Being able to find new commands feels really good.
@norris-eldridge You, sir are a gentleman and a scholar!
@albertnez We wanted to do the "retrowave style", and i think we succeeded in all but music! The graphics are a big part of the information flow/immersion after all :)
@jaiden-gerig Krexor was the visuals and tab-complete guy, tbh he did an amazing job! It was getting on my nerves when i got the message he fixed the autocomplete x)
@mhorth Cheers m8, im happy you got good vibes :)
@tkers Great feedback! color coding was not the immediate focus, but i see now how it could greatly improve the experience
@unpronounceable Thanks man :) Yeah the commands make for good loot!
Really cool game! As a Linux user I particularly enjoyed this one! I found it a bit difficult at first though, and I think it's even more difficult if you're not experienced with terminals. I think the first level should be easier and guide you through the commands step by step. Kinda like a tutorial level.
Once I got the hang of it, I really liked it though. The visuals and audio fit the game very well.
@luckyfeathers glad you liked it m8, i thought you would ;) Yeah, its not really "tutorialy", it could do with some better descriptions/help
I'm super glad I played this, you nailed it! I think the pressures were on a little high, but it made it a game to come back to,trying to speed run. I found myself trying to do cd and ls but once I got out of that it was a great game. Nice polish, and I'll be playing it again!
@wetburritosupreme Hey man, im soo glad you liked it!
Due to all the kickass feedback, and encouraging compliments, we have started working on a content update. So if you really liked it as is, when the rating is over, new content will arrive! :) Stay tuned ^^
Cool! Very visually appealing and a cool idea. Audio was dope too.
what a great coder
@madr thanks m8! :) glad you liked the audio, ive been working hard on learning to produce the last couple months, so your comment makes my day!
@olddog ditto ;)
I'm not so bash fluent and..... I actually really enjoyed trying to figure out how the game worked ! The delivery of the cd command. It's really cool to have implemented auto-completion and command history ^^ As said in commentary : "very visually appealing " well done ! cool mood ! :)
@aune cheers m8, glad you liked it! :)
Hi, Here is my YouTube Playthrough Although you seem to have found it already!
https://youtu.be/rvVwNNE1Dfo
@ausstein yeah man, i went on there shortly after you posted the yt link in the convo
Thanks again man, especially since we still developing this! :)
@luddegodofpain Glad you found it helpfull. Although you might also try to get someone with no bash experience, I think it might be a lot harder if you don't have any bash or other console experience.
What a unique game concept for this LD theme! And great execution too!
@ausstein Tbh, we will keep the game niche, and cater to programmers and admins first of all, to give immersion to people with an understanding will be a priority.
That said. The feedback we got from the playthrough was eye-opening. The fact that it took so long for you to find out how to move is a giant failure on our part, since most players would give up and say "fuck it" after a few seconds (big props that you didnt!)
Working on a tutorial now to explain the basic concepts better.
@zimny11 Glad you enjoyed our game m8 :)
@luddegodofpain I think one simple fix for that would be to have the look command show directories in addition to the files.
Cheers! That is a very special experience :D I liked how I need to figure out what to do. I collected a few keys and ddos'ed some enemies.
Nice mix between text-based, hacker sim and new retro aesthetic! I am thinking that obscure Anhalt EBM could be more impactant in that case. More punk you know. Also a miniscreen with a netrunner suffering while surfing (Carmageddon/Doom-like UI) Very introspective vibe.
Good music and cool visuals added a lot to the feel of the game.
Having full command list is nice, but that is a lot of information to take in right from the start. Also wish I didn't have separate command to view files and adjacent directories, navigation became a bit tedious after a while and reduced the desire to explore.
Guards moving through directories is an interesting concept, added a nice layer to the game.
Overall was really interesting to play, feel like it could be super fun if gameplay was smoothed out a bit.
