Nice! Love the hand-drawn look.

Nice! Love the hand-drawn look.

Love the rapid aging. :)
Looks really nice.
Everything about this is wonderful.
Also getting the missing DLL. Judging from the name of the DLL I'm guessing the EXE was built with debug settings instead of release...
There really should be a time counter. Trying to count to myself while playing the game isn't really fun. Other than that, cool game.
Very interesting idea--hope you continue to develop it.
Aw, sad robot. Love the color palette, reminds me of old CGA games.
I like the colorful pixelated look. Is it supposed to move this fast, though?
Fun game, great visuals, great music! Well done.
Voronoi maps!
Great idea and lovely pixel art! A little hard to control though, wish the movement was less floaty.
Fun to play and looks nice--really would benefit from some music though. If it was synched to the background color changing it would be mesmerizing.
Cool idea, but I can't seem to reach any fuel. Would be nice if some would always spawn within visible distance of the starting point--to give the player some visual indication of what they're supposed to do.
Neat game! I like the implementation of the 10 seconds theme. Hard to tell what kills you and what doesn't, though--would really help if the "lose" screen told you why you died.
Don't have python installed, can't run... surely there's a way to provide an executable version?
Crashed immediately on startup. :/
Fun, and cute graphics!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I didn't think people would like it as much as they seem to. :)
As for the achievements, since so many people are asking, I posted the list of their names as a hint:
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2013/08/28/10seconds-achievement-hints/
Hilarious. :)
Really cute visuals, and a fun idea. Hard to tell which zombie you are, though, and really hard to catch up to a person long enough to attack them. Would be really fun with a little more work, though!
Love the pixel art!
Really great visual style. The game needs a little more to do, though!
Fun and a really clever idea, but I wish I could see the contents of each room under the cursor instead of at the upper left--it's already so little time with having to constantly look back and forth to like things up!
Awesome!
Wonderfully original idea, but kind of hard to control!
Fun!
Cool game! Love the art.
Tremendously clever idea. Well done!
Really fun little game, with some clever level designs. Well done!
Awesome entry. Graphics are audio are really great. The game's too easy though!
Very cool design. Love it.
LOVE this. Very clever!
Very fun and mesmerizing for such a minimalist idea!
Anyone who's having trouble running this, I'd be interested to know what your Windows version and video hardware are. :)
Very cool idea! Enjoyed it a lot. (Love that we named our games the same thing, haha)
Very clever idea! Enjoyed this a lot, although I couldn't figure out some of the levels. :)
This is amazingly clever! Love it.
Didn't run for me either, so... I guess it lives up to the title at least!
Clearly from the Vlambeer school of screen shake. :D Fun game!
Spent 5 minutes trying to roll a coin up a single ramp. The Dark Souls of physics-based games. :D
Fun idea, hilarious title, and I love that the face on the coin changes expression!
It's funny, here I was genuinely thinking I'd made the game way too easy! :D
FWIW, it's best to build smithies to arm your villagers against early knight attacks. Build them near where you see villagers congregating because they have a limited range. If you have to you can herd villagers in a direction you want by sacrificing some of them to scare the others.
@stevenjmiller good advice, thanks-- made me realize a lot of strategy games start you with a 'town hall' or something for a reason!
@skalex haha yeah, it was weirdly difficult to prevent inbreeding without affecting population growth in unintended ways, but I think I've figured out a way to deal with it...
@gonutz Thanks so much for the kind words and detailed feedback! And thanks for the heads up, I will try to take another look at your game, then. Don't worry, I didn't leave a bad score! I figured the problem was either compatibility or me not understanding what was going on. :)
I actually worked a bit during the holiday here on a post compo version of this that improves a bunch of the exact problems you mentioned here (hit boxes, accidental gray hair, more tonally appropriate 'idle' music), as well as click-drag selection of NPCs, better camera controls, and some other stuff. Still haven't bothered to fix the multiple altar bug though, haha. I guess it's harmless and kind of funny.
There's of course the larger issue with the inverted difficulty curve that will take a lot of tweaking to get right (and a zillion other ways to improve this), but between work and more long-term projects I'm not sure I'll ever get back to this game. I'll try to at least post what I've got, though. :D
...I have no idea what I just played, but it looks and sounds really great! :D
Congratulations on your first LD! I'm not sure I completely understood what was going on in this game, but I enjoyed it. :) I like the music and the interstitial titles a lot.
This is awesome, really enjoyable! Cute graphics and I liked the music and SFX. If I have one complaint it's that the world never scrolls downward, which makes it confusing if you end up falling back down to the previous floor.
Great work!
Great aesthetic. Would love to see the gameplay developed a bit more-- some inertia to the motion, some more 'underwater' touches like DoF or bubbles, etc. Pretty cool start though. :)
Love the artwork! :D
This is awesome! Lots of fun and the visuals for the levels are delightful. Well done!
Awesome game! Very moody.
Very cool game! Looks great and the movement feels good. Might be easier if the view were a little bigger though--it's a bit hard to see where you're going. :)
Oh my god, how many drugs did you take while making this? Was it all of them?
I love it so much. A+ heartwarming flesh-blob-merger ending.
It looks nice, and it's quite a bit of fun to play! A very unusual game mechanic, well implemented. Great work. :)
Really unusual game-- enjoyed the look and overall vibe, and the storytelling was interesting. Cool music too. That said, yeah, ultra-sensitive mouse input made it difficult to move around. :/
@ancient-pixel one monitor at 4K. :)
Fun, and looks great! Descending by way of the floor repeatedly falling out from under you is a fun idea. I found the hammer a little clunky-feeling (I used an xbox controller)-- maybe if it had more acceleration and a higher top speed it would feel a little more punchy. Still lots of fun as is though. :D
Very nice little puzzler! Well done. If I have one complaint it's that it would be nice to be able to undo in larger increments (e.g. go back to when I entered the screen) since I'm bad at this kind of game and needed to undo a lot. :D Great work, really enjoyed this. :)
What an awesome, innovative idea! Like a minimalist, desconstructed Kerbal Space Program. Visuals and audio are really good, too!
(And hey, I also made a game with a gravity mechanic, although totally different thematically :D)
Pretty cool! The art and audio are nice, and I had fun scavenging and exploring (until I got eaten by an alligator)--it could be a good foundation for a more complex game. The controls were a bit hard to get used to, though-- E, F, R, are just not a combination of buttons I'm used to using in a game. :D
(Also, needs more Florida Man.)
OH MY GOD, THE PUNS. :D This is awesome, and so polished! I think it might benefit a bit from tighter movement--quicker acceleration/deceleration--and maybe a bit more movement animation on the character. (The floaty feel is a bit at odds with the speedrun nature and amped-up mood of the game, I think.) Great voiceovers, music, art, all of it--awesome work. :)
@hotpaw yup! I've fixed it, thanks so much :)
@mausimus thanks so much :grin:
@wasd thanks! :D
@hilvon Aw, you're much too kind! I'm really glad it connected with you. :)
@h0pe86 Thanks so much! Maybe once my brain's recovered a bit I'll explore the gameplay a bit more. It was a bit hard to wrap my head around level designs for this. :D
@seamonsterart @nazorus thanks for the kind words! I wasn't sure about the mechanics for a long time but they finally clicked after a lot of experimentation and tweaking. weirdly the trails were kind of the key-- without them it feels kind of random! :)
@moomka good point! I wanted to teach the player about the movement before introducing sprint, but maybe that first level should be a bit easier...
@esosek thanks! that level transition effect was the idea from which the rest of the game grew out of lol. :)
@the-g yup, meant to make the hints contextual but ran out of time. maybe for a post-compo version! thanks so much for playing!
@joshuc the story's meant to be a little vague (I'm a sucker for innuendo and allusion), but I'm glad the mood came across! :D
@gilborn Thank YOU so much for trying it out!
@daegonz the levels could definitely use a bit more difficulty tweaking, and I think if I do a post-compo version I might add something like ghosts of the trails so you can at least see the things you've already tried. :) thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it!
@anchorlight I'm glad it came across as complete-- a lot of it didn't come together until the very end (but I guess that's usually how it goes with jams!) tbh I experimented with adding more gameplay to the 'ascent' versions of the stages but it's exactly as you said, it made the pace feel off. anyway thanks for the kind words! :D
Delightful art/animation, and a cute (but kind of dark) aesthetic all around. Movement feels nice and satisfying. Really well done!
Lovely, brief, and heartbreaking. Fantastic art, too. So impressive for a 24 hour project!
Wow, the art/animation is really good!
This is really, really good! The art is gorgeous (what a beautiful palette, too), and the movement and jump are really satisfying. I found the red spiky enemies in the first area a bit frustrating, though, since they seem to be able to pass through the scenery and hide in the background. :)
Overall so, so good, though! Amazing amount of content for an LD game too. Haven't made it all the way through yet, I'm stuck a few screens into the third area. :D Great work!
Very addictive--I found myself playing way longer than I'd meant to!--and the challenge ramps up at a nice pace. The art is absolutely delightful too, and I really liked the pixelsplosions when you hit something.
Really really enjoyed this one, very well done!
The visuals and music ooze style, and the particle effects are really cool. Took me a while to figure out how things work, but I guess that's part of the game! I did think it was weird that the command to change directories was 'move' instead of 'cd' and it drove me crazy that there's no 'clear'/'cls' command... :D Really great entry!
@luddegodofpain aaahhh nice! I need to take another crask at this then! :D
Interesting idea and cool look. I think with nicer-feeling movement (a little bit of inertia, maybe) and a bit more challenge it could be pretty great. :)
This is FANTASTIC. The animations, the art, the music--amazing work. It'd be nice to have WASD support though, esp in the WebGL version--because the arrow keys scroll the window up/down in my browser too and it's a bit awkward. :D
I think this is my favorite entry so far this LD! So good.
I really enjoyed this! The minimalist visual style is cool and has a lot of personality-- reminds me a bit of the TI-81 calculator games we used to trade in high school. Good stuff. :)
Wow, this is awesome. I absolutely adore the visuals and audio; the aesthetics are just so much more polished than most people manage with LD games! (Minor thing, but that huge bass drum sound when you bump into something is a wonderful touch.)
It would be really good to be able to player with a controller, though-- there are a lot of controls to keep track of!
Awesome work!
I love the artwork and music, so stylish! Cool idea, too, although I found it quite hard with the limited life and the very high density of enemies. :)
BTW the HTML5 version doesn't work for me (just goes to a directory listing)-- most people seem to use itch.io for hosting HTML5 games, maybe try that?
Cool game!
Really fun interpretation of the theme. I kind of want a virus mode version where you delete the good files instead of the useless ones. (I love the filenames btw!) :D
Simple yet completely addicting. Really enjoyed it! Would love to see this concept developed further--maybe with more variety in the level and some sound effects. :)
Fun game! And the visuals are SO GOOD, like a long-lost game from 1990. Great work. :)
Such a cool and original take on the theme! The visuals are lovely too, minimalist but very polished and professional-looking. Took me a while to figure out how to play (a tutorial or a bit more guidance would help!) but it's a really interesting, unusual mechanic. Great work. :)
Love the artwork and music/sound. Very retro vibe. Hard to see those orcas coming, though!
Yay PICO-8!
Lovely idea, great visuals, and fun to play! It did take me a while to figure out I could use the arrow keys instead of just Z. Might be good to document the controls more. :D
Very nice! Feels a bit like a 90s shareware platformer (and I mean that in a good way), and the premise and artwork are adorable. With further development it could be really good! Fantastic first effort. :)
Wow, what an exceptionally gorgeous and well made game! The camera is a bit disorienting though-- seems to have trouble keeping up with the player sometimes.
Very very cool in general though, great work :O
Awesome music and especially art. Kind of an early Flash aesthetic. :D
Funny and atmospheric! I liked it a lot. I laughed out loud at the vignette with the skeletons at the dinner table. :D
RTX version was unplayably slow for me, unfortunately! In the 2-3fps range. I'm running on a 4K monitor though (and an oldish RTX, a 2070). :)
Great entry!
Oh, meant to add, this could be really cool as a VR game!
Oh man, I think this is my favorite interpretation of the themes so far! I should pick up my bass more often.
Random though, it could be really cool if the bass 'attacks' played a funky bassline of their own and/or matched up a bit with the background music.
Really nice art, too!
