10 Second Urf Defender by Verrazano 2013-08-31T21:50:00

Nice! Love the hand-drawn look.

Tale of a Lost Soul by eolhing 2013-08-26T04:29:00

Uncaught exception - load.c(237) : Failed to load library : std.ndll

Tower To The Sun by Zer0Kelvin 2013-08-31T21:58:00

Love the rapid aging. :)

House Of Wolves by albertelwin 2013-08-26T04:49:00

Looks really nice.

Detective Awesomepants by xel 2013-08-26T05:34:00

Everything about this is wonderful.

FSCK - A Hard Drive Story by iiechapman 2013-08-29T02:52:00

Also getting the missing DLL. Judging from the name of the DLL I'm guessing the EXE was built with debug settings instead of release...

Jack is gonna Die! by psychomonster 2013-08-26T22:22:00

There really should be a time counter. Trying to count to myself while playing the game isn't really fun. Other than that, cool game.

Offspring by scriptorum 2013-08-26T04:41:00

Very interesting idea--hope you continue to develop it.

Anhedonia in Memoriam by agumaster 2013-08-26T05:58:00

Aw, sad robot. Love the color palette, reminds me of old CGA games.

10 seconds of hope by tobbez 2013-08-26T16:55:00

I like the colorful pixelated look. Is it supposed to move this fast, though?

Audenary by Andrio 2013-08-26T04:34:00

This is lovely!

Murder On The Dancefloor by CustomPhase 2013-08-26T05:42:00

Fun game, great visuals, great music! Well done.

Conquer the World by optimality 2013-08-26T16:50:00

Voronoi maps!

Bombun by DaggerHog 2013-08-27T16:53:00

Fun game. I like how precise the controls are.

The Count of Ten by Andrewves 2013-08-26T05:52:00

Great idea and lovely pixel art! A little hard to control though, wish the movement was less floaty.

Amaze 10+ by necmelt2006 2013-08-26T16:58:00

Fun to play and looks nice--really would benefit from some music though. If it was synched to the background color changing it would be mesmerizing.

Rocket Rampage by Reicher 2013-08-27T17:05:00

Cool idea, but I can't seem to reach any fuel. Would be nice if some would always spawn within visible distance of the starting point--to give the player some visual indication of what they're supposed to do.

Direct Interval by Kerinova Studios 2013-08-26T04:54:00

Neat game! I like the implementation of the 10 seconds theme. Hard to tell what kills you and what doesn't, though--would really help if the "lose" screen told you why you died.

10 seconds for Cactusman by megashroom 2013-08-26T05:20:00

Don't have python installed, can't run... surely there's a way to provide an executable version?

Fast delivery by stenol 2013-08-26T16:47:00

Crashed immediately on startup. :/

Delta Dodge by ranf 2013-08-26T05:37:00

Fun, and cute graphics!

10seconds by otresnjak 2013-08-29T00:12:00

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I didn't think people would like it as much as they seem to. :)

As for the achievements, since so many people are asking, I posted the list of their names as a hint:
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2013/08/28/10seconds-achievement-hints/

Royal Defenestrator by BasmanovDaniil 2013-08-27T16:43:00

Hilarious. :)

Eat to Live by Ramon Imbao 2013-08-26T04:45:00

Really cute visuals, and a fun idea. Hard to tell which zombie you are, though, and really hard to catch up to a person long enough to attack them. Would be really fun with a little more work, though!

Big Sad by Daniel Debert 2013-08-26T05:12:00

Love the pixel art!

Burger Hunter by euvl 2013-08-26T17:02:00

Really great visual style. The game needs a little more to do, though!

A AAA Aardvark Construction Co. by DantronLesotho 2013-08-26T05:08:00

Fun and a really clever idea, but I wish I could see the contents of each room under the cursor instead of at the upper left--it's already so little time with having to constantly look back and forth to like things up!

Freeze Box by SamC 2013-08-26T22:09:00

Awesome!

laGrengine by fdevant 2013-08-26T22:30:00

Wonderfully original idea, but kind of hard to control!

10 Seconds Warning by pvwradtke 2013-08-26T05:26:00

Fun!

Space Sweeper by JoeDev_net 2013-08-26T16:43:00

Cool game! Love the art.

Ghost Robot Time by wally2069 2013-08-26T21:59:00

Tremendously clever idea. Well done!

Escape Base 10 by Jayjay 2013-08-26T05:03:00

Really fun little game, with some clever level designs. Well done!

Factory Wars by The Evil Cult 2013-08-27T16:58:00

Awesome entry. Graphics are audio are really great. The game's too easy though!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Spanner by Cosmologicon 2014-08-25T18:53:00

Very cool design. Love it.

Just an Otter Game by Logan 2014-08-27T00:49:00

LOVE this. Very clever!

Universe of Color by Elforama 2014-08-25T03:23:00

Very fun and mesmerizing for such a minimalist idea!

Phase Shift by otresnjak 2014-08-25T14:24:00

Anyone who's having trouble running this, I'd be interested to know what your Windows version and video hardware are. :)

PhaseShift by KeyMaster 2014-08-27T20:56:00

Very cool idea! Enjoyed it a lot. (Love that we named our games the same thing, haha)

LD44 — Your life is currency

Pulsation by stevenjmiller 2019-04-29T10:26:24Z

Very clever idea! Enjoyed this a lot, although I couldn't figure out some of the levels. :)

Oscilloscope by Shard 2019-04-29T10:08:53Z

This is amazingly clever! Love it.

Computers in a Nutshell by gonutz 2019-04-29T11:54:49Z

Didn't run for me either, so... I guess it lives up to the title at least!

Space Rabbit by Baraa Marwan 2019-04-29T10:39:10Z

Clearly from the Vlambeer school of screen shake. :D Fun game!

That Time When I was Reincarnated as a Coin by randomphantom 2019-04-29T11:53:25Z

Spent 5 minutes trying to roll a coin up a single ramp. The Dark Souls of physics-based games. :D

Fun idea, hilarious title, and I love that the face on the coin changes expression!

altar of a dark god by otresnjak 2019-04-29T10:29:12Z

It's funny, here I was genuinely thinking I'd made the game way too easy! :D

FWIW, it's best to build smithies to arm your villagers against early knight attacks. Build them near where you see villagers congregating because they have a limited range. If you have to you can herd villagers in a direction you want by sacrificing some of them to scare the others.

altar of a dark god by otresnjak 2019-05-01T04:55:52Z

@stevenjmiller good advice, thanks-- made me realize a lot of strategy games start you with a 'town hall' or something for a reason!

@skalex haha yeah, it was weirdly difficult to prevent inbreeding without affecting population growth in unintended ways, but I think I've figured out a way to deal with it...

altar of a dark god by otresnjak 2019-05-09T00:01:44Z

@gonutz Thanks so much for the kind words and detailed feedback! And thanks for the heads up, I will try to take another look at your game, then. Don't worry, I didn't leave a bad score! I figured the problem was either compatibility or me not understanding what was going on. :)

I actually worked a bit during the holiday here on a post compo version of this that improves a bunch of the exact problems you mentioned here (hit boxes, accidental gray hair, more tonally appropriate 'idle' music), as well as click-drag selection of NPCs, better camera controls, and some other stuff. Still haven't bothered to fix the multiple altar bug though, haha. I guess it's harmless and kind of funny.

There's of course the larger issue with the inverted difficulty curve that will take a lot of tweaking to get right (and a zillion other ways to improve this), but between work and more long-term projects I'm not sure I'll ever get back to this game. I'll try to at least post what I've got, though. :D

Scarf Scarf by Memedev0 2019-04-29T13:18:20Z

...I have no idea what I just played, but it looks and sounds really great! :D

My first LD Game: Mutant Lemonade Stand by leary93 2019-04-29T11:04:33Z

Congratulations on your first LD! I'm not sure I completely understood what was going on in this game, but I enjoyed it. :) I like the music and the interstitial titles a lot.

Purple Dimension by XCVZXC 2019-04-29T10:00:27Z

This is awesome, really enjoyable! Cute graphics and I liked the music and SFX. If I have one complaint it's that the world never scrolls downward, which makes it confusing if you end up falling back down to the previous floor.

Great work!

Grow by Caspercaper17 2019-04-29T12:02:01Z

Great aesthetic. Would love to see the gameplay developed a bit more-- some inertia to the motion, some more 'underwater' touches like DoF or bubbles, etc. Pretty cool start though. :)

ORBid by Martynas 2019-04-29T11:42:08Z

Looks and sounds great, and the gameplay is addictive! It was hard to stop playing. I couldn't get past level 9, though! I'd love to see this project elaborated on further. :)

It's a DEAL by The Blue Hatted 2019-04-29T23:18:11Z

Love the artwork! :D

Delta Fighter by LiauJ 2019-04-29T10:12:48Z

This is awesome! Lots of fun and the visuals for the levels are delightful. Well done!

Undercave by NoobException 2019-04-29T10:19:39Z

Awesome game! Very moody.

Coins life. by Izaacs 2019-04-29T23:21:54Z

Very cool game! Looks great and the movement feels good. Might be easier if the view were a little bigger though--it's a bit hard to see where you're going. :)

Victor Spumante And The Raindrops of Burgundy by gimblll 2019-04-29T10:50:07Z

Oh my god, how many drugs did you take while making this? Was it all of them?

I love it so much. A+ heartwarming flesh-blob-merger ending.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Learning Simulator 2021 by smbe19 2021-04-28T14:12:14Z

It looks nice, and it's quite a bit of fun to play! A very unusual game mechanic, well implemented. Great work. :)

Aleph Qoph / Duat by ancient-pixel 2021-04-30T05:04:37Z

Really unusual game-- enjoyed the look and overall vibe, and the storytelling was interesting. Cool music too. That said, yeah, ultra-sensitive mouse input made it difficult to move around. :/

Aleph Qoph / Duat by ancient-pixel 2021-04-30T10:46:52Z

@ancient-pixel one monitor at 4K. :)

Dungeonfall by CruelMotivator 2021-04-29T08:59:26Z

Fun, and looks great! Descending by way of the floor repeatedly falling out from under you is a fun idea. I found the hammer a little clunky-feeling (I used an xbox controller)-- maybe if it had more acceleration and a higher top speed it would feel a little more punchy. Still lots of fun as is though. :D

Diacombs by aeveis 2021-04-30T05:11:32Z

Very nice little puzzler! Well done. If I have one complaint it's that it would be nice to be able to undo in larger increments (e.g. go back to when I entered the screen) since I'm bad at this kind of game and needed to undo a lot. :D Great work, really enjoyed this. :)

Oumuamua - From Outer Space to Deeper and Deepr Down the Well by Nikolaj 2021-04-28T01:46:52Z

What an awesome, innovative idea! Like a minimalist, desconstructed Kerbal Space Program. Visuals and audio are really good, too!

(And hey, I also made a game with a gravity mechanic, although totally different thematically :D)

Florida Simulator by Grogian 2021-04-27T00:05:50Z

Pretty cool! The art and audio are nice, and I had fun scavenging and exploring (until I got eaten by an alligator)--it could be a good foundation for a more complex game. The controls were a bit hard to get used to, though-- E, F, R, are just not a combination of buttons I'm used to using in a game. :D

(Also, needs more Florida Man.)

Fetal Fury by Squidly 2021-04-28T01:41:08Z

OH MY GOD, THE PUNS. :D This is awesome, and so polished! I think it might benefit a bit from tighter movement--quicker acceleration/deceleration--and maybe a bit more movement animation on the character. (The floaty feel is a bit at odds with the speedrun nature and amped-up mood of the game, I think.) Great voiceovers, music, art, all of it--awesome work. :)

Rooted by Webox 2021-04-27T01:21:02Z

This is really charming! The pixel art is nice-- reminds me of 90s shareware PC games. Interesting gameplay ideas too. I don't really have any suggestions but would love to see the game mechanics explored further. Super cool. :)

Drawn Out by xmatos 2021-04-26T06:25:11Z

I love it. What a creative idea.

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-04-25T23:03:47Z

@hotpaw yup! I've fixed it, thanks so much :)

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-04-25T23:19:18Z

@mausimus thanks so much :grin:

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-04-25T23:37:51Z

@wasd thanks! :D

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-04-26T06:38:07Z

@hilvon Aw, you're much too kind! I'm really glad it connected with you. :)

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-04-26T06:40:24Z

@h0pe86 Thanks so much! Maybe once my brain's recovered a bit I'll explore the gameplay a bit more. It was a bit hard to wrap my head around level designs for this. :D

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-04-26T12:23:33Z

@seamonsterart @nazorus thanks for the kind words! I wasn't sure about the mechanics for a long time but they finally clicked after a lot of experimentation and tweaking. weirdly the trails were kind of the key-- without them it feels kind of random! :)

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-04-27T07:07:49Z

@moomka good point! I wanted to teach the player about the movement before introducing sprint, but maybe that first level should be a bit easier...

@esosek thanks! that level transition effect was the idea from which the rest of the game grew out of lol. :)

@the-g yup, meant to make the hints contextual but ran out of time. maybe for a post-compo version! thanks so much for playing!

@joshuc the story's meant to be a little vague (I'm a sucker for innuendo and allusion), but I'm glad the mood came across! :D

@gilborn Thank YOU so much for trying it out!

@daegonz the levels could definitely use a bit more difficulty tweaking, and I think if I do a post-compo version I might add something like ghosts of the trails so you can at least see the things you've already tried. :) thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it!

@anchorlight I'm glad it came across as complete-- a lot of it didn't come together until the very end (but I guess that's usually how it goes with jams!) tbh I experimented with adding more gameplay to the 'ascent' versions of the stages but it's exactly as you said, it made the pace feel off. anyway thanks for the kind words! :D

Bun-ker Buster by Ziamor 2021-04-27T05:28:38Z

Delightful art/animation, and a cute (but kind of dark) aesthetic all around. Movement feels nice and satisfying. Really well done!

Dear Child by deformhead 2021-04-27T07:47:45Z

Lovely, brief, and heartbreaking. Fantastic art, too. So impressive for a 24 hour project!

SciDiver: a science fiction themed zelda-like by Tim The Ancient 2021-04-26T06:22:57Z

Wow, the art/animation is really good!

SUBTERRA by daniele 2021-04-27T09:00:07Z

Really, really well done game. Great visuals, audio, music, all of it, and what an original concept. Routing the miners around and having to account for getting them back into the rig in time--very cool. Love it. :)

Fight Your Fears by SkelleRoznik 2021-04-27T06:55:43Z

This is really, really good! The art is gorgeous (what a beautiful palette, too), and the movement and jump are really satisfying. I found the red spiky enemies in the first area a bit frustrating, though, since they seem to be able to pass through the scenery and hide in the background. :)

Overall so, so good, though! Amazing amount of content for an LD game too. Haven't made it all the way through yet, I'm stuck a few screens into the third area. :D Great work!

River Ravager by PatrickJR 2021-04-26T06:47:19Z

Very addictive--I found myself playing way longer than I'd meant to!--and the challenge ramps up at a nice pace. The art is absolutely delightful too, and I really liked the pixelsplosions when you hit something.

Really really enjoyed this one, very well done!

BashRL by luddegodofpain 2021-04-26T23:57:46Z

The visuals and music ooze style, and the particle effects are really cool. Took me a while to figure out how things work, but I guess that's part of the game! I did think it was weird that the command to change directories was 'move' instead of 'cd' and it drove me crazy that there's no 'clear'/'cls' command... :D Really great entry!

BashRL by luddegodofpain 2021-04-27T10:00:04Z

@luddegodofpain aaahhh nice! I need to take another crask at this then! :D

Bat and Spider Cavern by Greg the Egg 2021-04-26T06:06:23Z

Interesting idea and cool look. I think with nicer-feeling movement (a little bit of inertia, maybe) and a bit more challenge it could be pretty great. :)

Bundt Man by bubbadubc 2021-04-27T01:50:23Z

This is FANTASTIC. The animations, the art, the music--amazing work. It'd be nice to have WASD support though, esp in the WebGL version--because the arrow keys scroll the window up/down in my browser too and it's a bit awkward. :D

I think this is my favorite entry so far this LD! So good.

The bomble mines by pune007 2021-04-28T04:54:32Z

I really enjoyed this! The minimalist visual style is cool and has a lot of personality-- reminds me a bit of the TI-81 calculator games we used to trade in high school. Good stuff. :)

Resurface by anchorlight 2021-04-26T07:02:42Z

Wow, this is awesome. I absolutely adore the visuals and audio; the aesthetics are just so much more polished than most people manage with LD games! (Minor thing, but that huge bass drum sound when you bump into something is a wonderful touch.)

It would be really good to be able to player with a controller, though-- there are a lot of controls to keep track of!

Awesome work!

ALTAR by elosociu 2021-04-27T01:38:28Z

Excellent entry! It looks really good the movement is nice and crunchy-feeling. Really has that Quake-era feel--is that what you were going for?

Being able to adjust the mouse sensitivity would help a lot though, the mouselook felt painfully slow to me. :)

Child Of Atlantis by Xnylhsa 2021-04-27T01:14:25Z

I love the artwork and music, so stylish! Cool idea, too, although I found it quite hard with the limited life and the very high density of enemies. :)

BTW the HTML5 version doesn't work for me (just goes to a directory listing)-- most people seem to use itch.io for hosting HTML5 games, maybe try that?

Cool game!

Pirifurm DCleaner by emeraldboy44 2021-04-26T06:14:10Z

Really fun interpretation of the theme. I kind of want a virus mode version where you delete the good files instead of the useless ones. (I love the filenames btw!) :D

Asterisk by Crychair 2021-04-27T07:15:47Z

Really impressive game, everything about it oozes quality. So rare to have voice acting in an LD game too (especially GOOD voice acting lol) and the music is sooo good. Amazing work!

Upside-down Volcano | Ludum Dare 48 Jam by WalrusesAreAwesome 2021-05-04T11:24:55Z

Simple yet completely addicting. Really enjoyed it! Would love to see this concept developed further--maybe with more variety in the level and some sound effects. :)

Miner Rescue by mausimus 2021-04-28T14:03:06Z

Fun game! And the visuals are SO GOOD, like a long-lost game from 1990. Great work. :)

Deeply Dazed by HangerGames 2021-04-26T23:48:19Z

Such a cool and original take on the theme! The visuals are lovely too, minimalist but very polished and professional-looking. Took me a while to figure out how to play (a tutorial or a bit more guidance would help!) but it's a really interesting, unusual mechanic. Great work. :)

Dolphin hunter by k4le 2021-04-26T06:02:31Z

Love the artwork and music/sound. Very retro vibe. Hard to see those orcas coming, though!

Deep Diver! by AlexanderZone 2021-04-26T06:51:08Z

Yay PICO-8!

Lovely idea, great visuals, and fun to play! It did take me a while to figure out I could use the arrow keys instead of just Z. Might be good to document the controls more. :D

Closet Spelunking by Turquoise Moon 2021-04-27T01:45:44Z

Very nice! Feels a bit like a 90s shareware platformer (and I mean that in a good way), and the premise and artwork are adorable. With further development it could be really good! Fantastic first effort. :)

Rabbit Rappel by MatterLinx 2021-04-27T06:19:36Z

Wow, what an exceptionally gorgeous and well made game! The camera is a bit disorienting though-- seems to have trouble keeping up with the player sometimes.

Very very cool in general though, great work :O

Brawl Of the Deep by Kofuku 2021-04-26T06:09:50Z

Awesome music and especially art. Kind of an early Flash aesthetic. :D

Lost Light by The_G 2021-04-27T12:10:22Z

Funny and atmospheric! I liked it a lot. I laughed out loud at the vignette with the skeletons at the dinner table. :D

RTX version was unplayably slow for me, unfortunately! In the 2-3fps range. I'm running on a 4K monitor though (and an oldish RTX, a 2070). :)

Great entry!

Lost Light by The_G 2021-04-27T12:11:22Z

Oh, meant to add, this could be really cool as a VR game!

More Bass! by Substr 2021-04-26T06:29:37Z

Oh man, I think this is my favorite interpretation of the themes so far! I should pick up my bass more often.

Random though, it could be really cool if the bass 'attacks' played a funky bassline of their own and/or matched up a bit with the background music.

Really nice art, too!
