It was a pretty cool concept but I have some notes
CONS: There may be too much room between checkpoints. Especially between after getting the fourth essence, dying brings you back to the house! That example may be a bug, but the 2nd stage (the one with the lava) seems over 10 minutes long, and restarting every time you slightly miss a jump is very discouraging. Some moving platforms take way too long to get back to where you jump on/off them. Some take more than 5 seconds, and at least one takes more than 10! 5 seconds isn't a long time, but when you've died 10 times on the same jump, waiting to do the hard part again feels bad. The mouse sensitivity is high, about twice what it probably should be. The camera gets things in it's way like in the forest. Uncomfortable for a platformer where precision is key. Minor bug: Jumping into an object ends your jump immediately. Super minor bug: one of the sprites for the main character isn't fully filled in. Really doesn't matter but eh. The hitbox for the player isn't well-defined, making platforming difficult, and feels like doing 3-D platforming with a lack of depth perception. There should maybe be a slight y-axis for the camera?
PROS: Actually pretty fun to explore areas with a unique way of moving. The good platforming is really good and tight. The 2-D sprites on 3-D area is underused and very nice too. All the actual ideas presented are absolute bangers.
HOWEVER: You mentioned that this is your first game you've made. Among the standards of a first game, (and made in 72 hours nonetheless!) this is actually pretty impressive! I'd love to see what you make next, should you choose to go further. tl;dr great concept, poorly executed among game standards, well executed among first game & jam standards
