LD38 — A Small World

Postbud by jalict 2017-05-07T23:15:14Z

Well, this game needs polishing because I can see through stuff and I easily get stuck in places. I also did not get exactly what to do. I kept throwing mails around mail boxes and didn't understand the UI on the top left corner. Even though the bicycle didn't look too fancy, I loved the art of the game and liked exploring around but it didn't make sense for the bicycle to ride under water. I also loved the music as it fit the mood of the game and was very calming. Finally, though I had no idea of what to do in the game, I enjoyed adventuring around but had to reload the page many times because I got stuck in many places.

Tiny Worlds in Flasks by FiSilva 2017-05-07T03:05:51Z

I love the calmness of the game! I however wish that the stuff that is planted in the game was smaller so you could plant more stuff in the toys. Also, the background color mechanic was kind of useless. I liked the use of the theme and how you used innovation to make a small world into a toy that has the small world. I also think the art is awesome. Great job!

Bacteria colony by Psilon 2017-05-13T02:08:42Z

There needs to be a better tutorial in the game. Also, the graphics are not that great. Other than that, I thought the game was okay. It had a lot of humor and a unique concept.

A View from Above by OfficialCodeNMore 2017-05-11T03:06:15Z

I like the uniqueness of this game (I think you invented a new genre!) and its awesome use of the theme. Also, the graphics were okay, but I guess a fancy font could be added in the future ( also note, Earth does NOT look like that planet in your game, there are only seven continents on Earth). I also liked the hilarious narrator (I especially liked his deep voice). One concept I didn't like about the game was that there was no checkpoints and you frequently had to restart the game. In conclusion, this was a good game and I especially liked its simple but elegant style.

What Remains. by Fiote 2017-05-05T05:23:05Z

The game looks nice! However, please do note that you should create a much better tutorial if you are going to expand this game. I did fully read the how to play instructions but I found it kind of hard to actually know what to do in the game. I got some basic ideas but I am still kind of confused. However, from what I have seen so far, it looks like a good game. I have rated this game with good marks!

Meteor Jam by PeachTreeOath 2017-05-02T05:08:14Z

This was a good game. I did not see any negative flaws. I gave all the categories 5 stars except for humor, as it was not exactly very funny. I believe that this game has the potential to be expanded on in the future and be a professional product.

The Dwarf Planet by keckles 2017-05-11T02:28:33Z

You should add a better tutorial because I didn't understand what to do. Also, you should add a skybox, even if it is a plain color skybox like in my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/block-destroyer . Also, you should change the main character to be something else other than just a plain sphere. Also, you should add better design for the UI. Other than that, it was kind of fun to wander around the planet similar to Super Mario Galaxy.

Design Space by bowlercaptain 2017-05-13T02:01:29Z

This probably might be a fun game, but the directions of how to play are very unclear. Also, the graphics are bad and it took me a long time to find the person. The game could also have a sound track and better sound effects. Overall, I think this might be a fun game, but I don't know because I can't play due to lack of instructions.

Newton's Cannon by xykvy 2017-05-06T00:36:23Z

Very good game! You should add the how to play directions on the compo description too though, rather than just the website with the game. I got confused about what the controls were until I found the controls on the bottom of the website. You should also be able to move with the arrow keys.

This game definitely should be expanded in the future. It has the potential to be a successful game. You should add some catchy music and some power ups and a better main menu screen. Also, when you die, you should not be able to rotate the world and enemies should not be able to continuously spawn and get destroyed by bullets. It will look better if the time was frozen. I liked the "radar" function on the upper left side of the screen which shows where you are and your bullets are. However, I did not realize its function until later on in the game (I actually thought that the "radar" was a separate planet). You should make the "radar"'s function clear from the start of the game. You should also add enemy locations in the radar. Also, I got some bullet issues where the bullets exploded as soon as they were fired, without even hitting robots. Next, there was a glitch in where a robot fell on the floor and was moving. Also, I think the "hearts" in the UI will look better if the inside was fully shaded with the 'pink' color.

This game was very good. I definitely had some fun. I liked the innovation of the "your own bullets can hit you" mechanic. I liked this game's usage of the theme and the rotating world mechanic. The graphics were alright, but nothing very special or catchy. I liked the game's sound effects but there should be some catchy music. There wasn't much humor in this game though. To make it funny, you could make funny looking graphics, but not bad-looking graphics, and maybe funny sound effects or even funny music! Finally, the mood section in this game is pretty good.

In conclusion, this game is awesome!

Ant Runner by unit684 2017-05-07T22:28:20Z

I think you should make the water more "flashy" or something because sometimes I touch the water and don't even realize it. Also, you should have a better "background" rather than just a color. Also, you should make the death sound effects less "sad" because I feel guilty when I kill grasshoppers or when my ant dies :) . Other than that, this is a very good game and I certainly loved the graphics, isometric infinite runner gameplay, and stylish music!

In Good Hands by simple-blue 2017-05-05T05:39:40Z

Awesome game! Though I was a little bit confused on what to do at the beginning of the game, I found out and had a blast! Please note: I saw a minor glitch in where a bear was moving jerkily and moving back and forth and shaking. However, the glitch was extremely minor.

I deeply like the graphics, music, and the overall mood of this game. The music, however did not repeat smoothly though (it sounded very slightly awkward when the soundtrack was being replayed again. Also, the music didn't have many variations or different themes). This is indeed a great game! Hopefully, you will expand it in the future!

Destroy Blocks by D-Studios 2017-05-05T04:13:23Z

@Scornz, thank you for the reply. Answers to some of your questions: *This fits the theme because the world you are in a "small world". I got inspired from Minecraft a little bit when I saw the "Generating World" loading bar. Therefore, this kind of indirectly fits with the theme. *Also, when you say the sound doesn't work, do you mean it won't play at all on your computer? Note that I hastily made the music and didn't have time to properly clean it(I am a total noob at creating music).

Thanks for playing!

Destroy Blocks by D-Studios 2017-05-07T02:36:53Z

@tyranosaw and @abhimok This is actually my second time doing Ludum Dare. I did my first Ludum Dare in my old account in the old Ludum Dare webpage and decided to create a new account here.

@abhimok P.S. Note that this game has lagging issues and the music cuts in and out because I am bad at recording music. The type of computer you have is not responsible for these issues!

@tyranosaw Thanks for the links by the way!

My previous account: http://ludumdare.com/compo/author/snapdragon/

I made my first game with Stencyl and this game with Unity.

Conquer Earth by Lars DK 2017-05-13T20:04:16Z

Very good game! However, I think in the future, you should definitely add a tutorial to avoid confusion. Other than that, I can think of no other flaws. Nice music and sound effects, fine graphics, and exciting game play! How did you make the game in 72 hours?

congamoeba: the amoebic friendship simulator by Kev Adsett 2017-05-05T23:46:39Z

Well, I didn't exactly get what to do in the game. There should be better instructions on how to attract the unhappy amoeba. Also, you should be able to move with arrow keys. Other than that, the sound is good and the graphics are excellent. I like the nice background music, the bright amoeba graphics, and the sound effects including the voice acting.

Bedroom Fishing by Devigner3D 2017-05-12T22:41:37Z

The title is spelled wrong. Also, you should make a browser version as I don't want to download the game.

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-05T05:00:59Z

I liked the nice music, the colorful graphics, and the overall mood of the game! However, the game lacked gameplay and wasn't very fun. I recommend expanding on this project and adding more gameplay to the game and adding more challenges and difficulties. Overall, this is still a good game.

Invasion by mmKALLL 2017-05-11T05:23:47Z

I think a health bar should be added to the planet, as I had no clue when I was going to die. Also, another thing is that there should be some explanation of what the powerups do, as I had some slight confusion (what did damage do if all your hits were one hit kills and what is energy charge rate?). I did however like that the core mechanic of the game was focused on and that the game was simple but elegant and polished. I also loved the art of the game(especially the background) and how this affected the mood. Also, the music was very nice sounding and gave the mood a creepy feeling.

The Room by SilverTwig 2017-05-12T22:57:56Z

The game is good! However I think that there is still some more room for improvement.

1. The look around controls were a bit strange. Have arrow keys be used for look around. 2. When interacting with an object, text generated way too slowly and played a sound effect that started to kind of annoy me.

EDIT: For some reason, my comment is glitching and making this look like a sample of code. I don't know why it is doing this.

Just You And Your Porch by lilroo 2017-05-07T02:27:34Z

This game was good. I liked the simple graphics and lighting and the innovation behind this game. The idea behind the game is pretty funny and I admit, I hate flies. Also, the sound effects were kind of funny. The gameplay mechanics were simple but fun. In expanding this game, you can make animations and add more sound effects for each kind of action (such as drinking) and randomly select from one of the sound effects so that there is variation (so that each sip of drinking tea does not sound exactly the same). This technique can be used for realism. Good job making this game!

Planet Mort-E on the dip space by geak 2017-05-07T23:00:01Z

Where is the link? Nobody will be able to play and rate your game without the link.

Sentient Duality by CabbageCrow 2017-05-06T00:04:44Z

The movement keys for the particle nature need some tweaking. Also, the difficulty should probably be some what easier, as it is hard to know where the purple boxes are in wave form. This requires memory and a long time without checkpoints can frustrate some players greatly. Therefore, you should add checkpoints or make short levels. Also, there should be auto restart. If you are going to expand this game, I also recommend adding some sort of humor(whether its funny sound effects or music) and sounds(cool sound effects and music).

Despite these flaws, this game was good. I indeed did have fun. I am surprised about the innovation of this entry and its use of the theme. I liked the alternate dimensions aspect in this game and it reminded me of the theme of Ludum Dare 30, Connected Worlds. I definitely loved the simplicity of the minimalistic graphics, which were colorful. I strongly recommend you to expand this game.

Glop Plots by Carsen D. 2017-05-13T02:41:04Z

Awesome sweet game! It would be better if there was a better UI (better looking buttons and usage of icons to indicate what the buttons will do) and a stylish font. Other than that, the game is extremely good. I like its simplicity and elegance!

Sucker Munch by oultrox 2017-05-07T03:26:54Z

This game was good! I however did not understand what absorbing enemies to mutate button (space) actually did. I loved the difficulty of this game and the challenge. I think the fonts should be changed for readability, like others said in the comments. I however like that this game doesn't uses a health bar and shows in a ratio how much health you have as it somehow for me makes it more meaningful in knowing how much health I have. The music and sound effects were also spectacular. Great job making this game!

Social Anxiety Shopping by envie 2017-05-08T01:23:06Z

You are missing a link to your game. Put up a link, otherwise nobody will be able to play and rate your game.

SMALCODED: A Small Eco-Destroyed World by ronsaldo 2017-05-11T02:46:24Z

First of all, people should just be able to run as default instead of holding a key to run. Second of all, the graphics need to be improved. Third of all, the glitch of the sound not working in the Web version has to be fixed (also, you do not have to opt out of sound for the use of content generators, please see special exemptions for Compo in this link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules). Fourth of all, there should be a proper tutorial to describe what players should do. Finally, the game should have some sort of challenge in the game, it was kind of boring.

Cosmic Identity Crisis by dirtycasuals 2017-05-08T01:33:24Z

This game is pretty difficult. You should make it kind of easier. Also, you should add some sort of tutorial because I got confused on what to do at the beginning of the game. Also, I think the graphics will be better if it was smooth shaded rather than flat shaded (this especially comes true when it comes to looking at Saturn). The sound effects don't fit in with the mood of the game as they are used in pixelated games. You should change them into realistic sound effects. Other than that, good work! I especially liked that Pluto had a personality, that concept was kind of funny!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Tax Rebel by LeReveur 2017-08-02T22:00:10Z

This game is extremely good! This game's unique stealth mechanics (like the enemy's field of vision is sometimes 120 degrees or 360 degrees and also the pathfinding is pretty creative too) is awesome! The game's intro scene is also pretty funny! However, the theme in this game isn't really used that much and it could have been used to make the game even cooler(like there are lights in the level and the lights start to dim when you steal power, making it harder for the player to see). However, this game is a solid piece of good work and I am impressed!

Pipe Trek by quill18 2017-08-03T22:10:57Z

This game is good. I like the graphical style and how the game looked from UI to the sprites. I also liked the mood of the game and how some sound effects create urgency for the player to hurry and try to finish the puzzles as fast as they can. However, I am not sure how this game really relates to the theme, as the theme was running out of power, but in this game, you are just rerouting power. In conclusion, this game is pretty decent in terms of graphics and mood, but I just wish it was related more to the theme.

Shekateka by dietzribi 2017-08-03T22:44:01Z

This game is impressive. I liked the innovation of the game in where you have to be in an area in order to be able to shoot. I also liked the graphical art style and polish of the game. Though the game is pretty funny (especially with how the zombies look like and more importantly sound like) I feel it could be funnier if the main character said some witty funny comments. In conclusion, I liked the creativity and polished art style of this compo entry, but this game has the potential of being even more humorous.

Yet Another Exhausted Day by Gao Ming 2017-08-03T23:47:05Z

This game is awesome! I liked that this game is challenging and addicting. I also thought the game was funny as the main character literally has to drag himself out of bed to go towards the door. Though the sound effects were great, this game lacked some soft background music that could have even added more flavor to the audio. In conclusion, this is a fun and funny game but it could have used some music.

Tiny Warlock by bwalter 2017-08-04T00:07:16Z

I don't like this game. The game world is way too small and the screen is pretty much literally covered with white stuff all the time, and I couldn't even see my own character. Despite this flaw, one concept that I did like about the game is that it was creative in that health and ammo are the same. In conclusion, I didn't like this game because the art is too visually hectic, but I did like the innovation behind the concept of the game.

P.S. I strongly suggest you to opt out of the humor category as this game doesn't seem like it was intended to be funny.

Death of a Mage by kalibrated 2017-08-03T20:53:45Z

This is a pretty good game. I liked the soundtrack of the game (how do you compose such good music?) and the sound effects were pretty realistic. I also liked how the theme was used in that you interpreted power as skills in the game instead of electricity. I didn't like that the gameplay kind of got boring along the way as it was repetitive and didn't really require skills or strategy (I just used the ice beam for the whole game). In conclusion, this game is pretty decent for its awesome audio and use of the theme, but I wish the gameplay wasn't so repetitive.

P.S. Thanks for rating my game!

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-03T03:49:58Z

Nice job on this game! I liked the game's use of the theme, especially in that the theme does not overcomplicate the gameplay, but is instead essential to the goal of the game. I also liked the game's 3D art and UI. Please note that you probably should opt out of humor as this game doesn't seem like it was meant to be funny. In conclusion, this game was pretty decent in terms of art and gameplay, but you really should opt out of humor.

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-03T03:20:04Z

This game is pretty interesting. It was fun and was easy to pickup and learn how to play but hard to put down as there is a surprising amount of depth put into the game by useful content, no fillers indeed! I also liked the unusual use of the theme in that the player starts running out of power when he/she moves or shoots. I honestly think that you should make the soundtrack of the game better and have multiple different sounds for shots as the sounds of the shots sound exactly the same every time the player shoots. Overall, this game is a pretty good game for a Ludum Dare entry but could use some improvement in audio.

Mad Trax by boats 2017-08-03T22:25:33Z

This game is pretty nice. First of all, I liked the innovation of the game and that you guys combined the whole tower defense, infinite runner, and resource management genres together. I also liked the Western soundtrack as it was interesting to listen to and it wasn't repetitive unlike other Ludum Dare entries. I however strongly suggest you guys to opt out of humor as this game doesn't seem like it was meant to be funny. In conclusion, I like your guys' creativity explosion and audio, but you should really opt out of humor.

The Last Light by Loktor 2017-08-01T19:27:50Z

This was a good game overall. I mostly liked the art and that how it was polished, with the lighting providing some atmosphere to the particle showers when you kill a spirit. I also liked that you didn't really take a basic interpretation of the theme, and that you used it in an innovative way. However, I did not like the game's lack of growing difficulty and after some time, the gameplay started to feel kind of trite and boring. In conclusion, I liked this game's polish and creativity, but I think the difficulty aspects needs some improvement.

No Sorcerer's Sky by TheFlyingKeyboard 2017-08-03T21:08:04Z

I can tell that this game seems good. However, I couldn't have any fun because I didn't understand how to play it, even though I read the instructions you wrote on this LD page. I did like the niceness of the audio though and how it made me feel calm. I also thought the graphics and the UI were great too. In conclusion, the graphics and audio intrigued me to play this game but the lack of proper clear instructions made me quit very quickly.

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-03T03:34:43Z

This game is pretty good. I liked the game's innovation in where the theme is strongly related to the central mechanic of the game, but does not overcomplicate gameplay. I also like the mood portrayed by the game as the sounds and graphics provide a scary atmosphere towards the game. Though the graphics were an essential component towards the atmosphere, I didn't like that some graphics were just scribbles, especially the ground. In conclusion, this game used the theme in an unusual way and provides a scary atmosphere, but the graphics could use some improvement.

Sunseeker by Surovyi 2017-08-02T21:16:32Z

This game was very interesting! I particularly liked the 3D low poly graphics and the smooth animations! I also liked the game's interesting timeless music that is very nice to listen to. However, the controls needs some improvement and they make the game sort of hard to play and have fun. In conclusion, great job with the visual aesthetics and audio, but the control configuration needs improvement.

Shield Defender by realryanrogers 2017-08-02T23:58:05Z

Nice game, especially for a first game! I liked the low poly art and also the polish of the game (the particle effects, the rotation of the asteroids, and the way the generator goes down when killed). I also liked the soundtracks and sound effects of the game. However, I think the concept behind the game isn't exactly original, and you could customize it to make it your own by adding powerups. I understand that a game made under 48 hours will have the bare mininum of features, but if you are going to expand the game (I strongly recommend it), consider adding powerups to spice and flavor the gameplay.

P.S.

If the game wasn't meant to be humorous, it is possible to opt out of the category.

Also, on itch.io, tag the game as a ld submission and send the url of the ld submission page so players playing on itch.io can see your ld page.

Lastly, give your game a thumbnail. The thumbnail is the only one input field where you can put just one image. The guy above my comment mentioned this too.

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-03T23:30:44Z

This game is pretty decent. I liked the creativity behind the concept of the game. I also liked the simple but polished graphical style of the game. I however, am not sure how this relates to the theme as a form of power is not even metioned at all in this game. In conclusion, this game is good because it is innovative and has great art, but it doesn't relate to the theme at all.

Wayside : A world awaits you by TheCodeFactory 2017-08-03T21:50:41Z

This game is decent. I liked the nice and simple art style. I also liked the mood that is portrayed in the game by the art and audio. Despite these benefits, the game lacks humor and I strongly recommend for you to opt out of the category (as this game doesn't seem to be like it was meant to be funny). In conclusion, I liked the art and mood of the game, but I suggest you to opt out of the humor category.

Powerless Miner by MajamiLTU 2017-08-03T22:56:24Z

This game is decent. I liked how you made the theme essential to the main core of the game, but it didn't overcomplicate gameplay. I also thought this game was fun as it required the player to think about their strategy in how they were going to collect the gold. I however thought the soundtrack was too repetitive and would like a less repetitive and better soundtrack. In conclusion, this was a pretty good game because the theme was used wisely in gameplay and the gameplay contained many challenging puzzles, but the audio needs improvement.

Lost Soul by daviddiagonza 2017-08-03T23:20:35Z

This game is pretty good! I liked the soundtrack of the game as it sounded nice. The audio and graphics strongly contribute to create a creepy atmosphere! Though the game was fun, it could have been more fun if the player had more power or if the power didn't drain so fast. In conclusion, I liked the audio and mood of the game but I felt the game could be more fun if it was less challenging.

CowPow! by Quemagalletas 2017-08-03T23:10:56Z

This game is good. I liked how you used the theme wisely and didn't overcomplicate gameplay, but still made the theme essential to the game. I also liked the innovation of the concept behind the game. I have never in my life seen a game about UFOs kidnapping cows. Though the concept was kind of humorous, I think it could have been funnier if more funny cow soundeffects were added. Overall, this game is good because the theme was used wisely and the concept behind the game is pretty creativity, but this game could have been more humorous.

Torch Boy by FloBar 2017-08-03T04:05:34Z

This game was very good. It was challenging, but very addicting. I also liked the use of the theme in that the theme is essential to the game, but doesn't overcomplicate the gameplay. Though the sound effects were good, this game could have been better if it had a moody soundtrack. In conclusion, I liked this game's addicting unique gameplay, but it could have been better if it had some music.

Day and Night - 2D Game (mac/windows) by Syl-WhatsUpDesign 2017-08-02T20:10:03Z

This game was great and fun to play! I liked that your way of conveying the theme was pretty innovative and that it only requires a mouse to play. I also liked that the game seemed very polished and didn't have any evident bugs and glitches, which is kind of rare for Ludum Dare entries. One fact that I didn't like about the game however, was that players couldn't restart the game after they failed. In conclusion, this game is a polished and not rushed innovative work for casual players to enjoy.

P.S. Graphics and Audio should be opted out. In the rules, it says that if a developer didn't fully make the graphics and audio, those categories should be opted out. In addition, you might want to opt out of humor too, as this game does not seem like it was meant to be humorous.

Great game and thanks for rating and playing my game!

Powerless: Trump Teaches Typing by RootPew 2017-08-03T00:16:51Z

This game is really good! I liked how this game portrayed the theme(instead of power being electricity its capability). I also liked the audio (I caught a hint of the Star Spangled Banner in the audio)! Do keep in mind though that Trump supporters might get offended by this game and will rate it badly. I hope your game gets scored highly though :)

Edit: Please do add a screen in the game telling the player how to play. I struggled with learning how to play. Only when I looked at the instructions below I realized how to play. At the very least, please put the instructions on this LD page. Cheers!

Bottled Lightning by jostly 2017-08-02T20:31:51Z

The game could use some improvement. First of all, the difficulty of the game is extremely hard. Second, the game was confusing and I didn't really get what to do. One concept that I did like about the game though is that I could tell it was a unique and innovative concept. In conclusion, when making a game around a unique concept for Ludum Dare, developers should get one or more people to playtest the game to see if they can understand what to do and if the game is too hard.

If this game is your first Ludum Dare entry, nice job :)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Save the Hats by Gruhh 2017-12-18T00:42:39Z

Unfortunately, I didn't really understand how to play and the gameplay was kind of hard for me. I would have liked if the game had a better tutorial. I did like the wall jump mechanics and the double jump mechanics though. I thought the concept of the game was also pretty innovative from the story to the gameplay. I also liked the interpretation of the theme. The hat balancing mechanic was pretty creative and original. The graphics and music provided a beautiful aesthetic in the game. I loved that the music soundtrack wasn't too repetitive unlike other Ludum Dare games. I also think that this game was pretty humorous because of the whole story. I especially thought the opening screen of the game in where it said "Save The Hats" was pretty hilarious. Overall, this game is not too bad in my opinion.

Robot Santa by madalaski 2017-12-23T00:17:19Z

In my opinion, this game would be much more fun if there was a Game Over screen or something similar to that. Perhaps, if you were to fail to collect a number of presents, similar to failing to slice 3 fruits in Fruit Ninja, the player would then lose. In this way, even the use of the theme could be more spectacular. The lack of a Game Over screen made the score mechanic unnecessary. Also, you probably should add a high score mechanic if you were to do a Game Over screen. Next, the speed of the present drops should decrease so it is easier to collect the presents. I would also suggest to consider constraining the player to remain on the screen. At the beginning of the game, my player immediately fell down. I actually didn't see my player when I first started so I was wondering where my player was and what the arrow on the screen meant. Only when I reloaded my page after two times, I saw the player and realized that the arrow meant that the player was down. Unfortunately, the gameplay of the game isn't exactly innovative as I have seen many games with gameplay very similar to this.

The aesthetic of the graphics was alright but nothing too fancy. I enjoyed the music though as it sounded nice and pleasant and it wasn't very repetitive like many other Ludum Dare games. Finally, I thought the game was kind of funny because the story behind it was a little bit humorous in that kids are becoming spoiled with Christmas gifts.

you are the coin master by Sean S. LeBlanc 2017-12-16T20:02:30Z

I liked this game! I especially liked that whole glitch effect in the game. I wished you would metion that the glitch in the game was purposely created because for a minute, I almost thought it was an actual glitch in the game! The gameplay was alright. I would have wished for the core gameplay to be more refined and the controls to feel more polished. The graphics of the game were also pretty decent. I enjoyed the music in this game. I loved that the audio wasn't repetitive and it sounded nice. Overall, I think this game is good!

Holiday Parking Panic! by FormalCloud 2017-12-11T01:35:33Z

This game was interesting. However, I wish that some visual cues were added to indicate what car is yours since I was confused for over a minute what car I was driving. Though there was some ideas in the game that didn't make sense(like why are cars crashing into you instead of stopping and why are there gifts in parking spots), the execution was done so well that I didn't care about how realistic the game was. Finally, I liked the humorous mood in the game, especially the main menu's music.

ICE RINK RALLY by japes 2017-12-17T23:52:54Z

I only played the single player mode and I thought it was pretty interesting. I liked the game's crazy physics but there was one incident in where my player started to randomly fly up in the air and then land down on the ground. I enjoyed the leaderboards mechanics because it made the game a lot more fun. This game was not really innovative though, as it was just a simple racing game. I did like the way you interpreted the theme and thought it was pretty interesting. I also thought the game was kind of humorous because of the exposition. The whole concept about slow skaters getting in the your way is pretty funny. Unfortunately, I didn't like the simplistic graphics as the aesthetic didn't look pleasing to me. I also didn't like the fact that the game didn't have audio. Overall, this game is kind of decent.

Curse of Greed by Sophie Houlden 2017-12-16T19:46:13Z

This is a pretty interesting game. I liked the innovation of the game in where the collectibles lower the max health of the player's health. This mechanic reminds me of Fallout's radiation mechanic. The gameplay was also pretty fun as the 2D platforming in the game was pretty polished for a game made in 48 hours. I especially enjoyed the wall jump mechanics. I also appreciated how the graphics delivered the aesthetic in the game. One concept that I am not too pleased about is the audio. First of all, the game would have been much better if there was a nice soundtrack. Second, the sound effects get a little bit repetitive. I would recommend making at least two sound effects for each action and add code to randomly switch between those soundeffects to decide which soundeffect to play once an action happens. I also would recommend to randomly change the pitch of the sound effects a little bit. Doing this to the soundeffects should add more variety to the soundeffects. Overall, I think this is a pretty good game!

The lost strawberry by egordorichev 2017-12-09T07:33:26Z

I honestly tried to play this game. However, there was not a good enough tutorial for the game to help me get past the first obstacle. Another concept that I disliked about the game was the graphics. There was too much in the graphics and the colors were so bright that it hurt my eyes. There was so much color on the screen that I could barely see where to go in the game. I am pretty sorry that I am being harsh on your game. I could see that a lot of time and effort was put into the game. However, though there was a lot of content, I couln't access it because of a lack of good instructions about what to do in the game.

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-09T06:14:21Z

This game is alright. The core mechanics seemed pretty polished and worked smoothly. However, I think the game lacked a little bit of variety. I liked your graphics especially the smoke particles from cars. Unfortunately, your UI was bland. The score text especially was hard to read.

Make Ludum Dare Great Again by ultimategrinder 2017-12-09T06:51:16Z

I'm impressed with the unique idea! First of all, I loved the music. It fit the humorous mood of the game. Second of all, I think the graphics of the humans made the game much more hilarious. It was a pretty funny game! However, the gameplay is too easy. The game could be more fun if it was a little bit harder. Overall, good job with the game!

Be Yourself by Noa Calice 2017-12-09T06:59:42Z

In my opinion, the gameplay is barely related to the story. What I mean is that the mood of the story is pretty different than the mood of the gameplay. This made the story about the being yourself not feel too intriguing. However, I did like the creepy music though. The gameplay was alright and polished enough.

Cost by D-Studios 2017-12-11T01:21:44Z

@teekeks @poller @lamossus @serval-games and especially @falak, this game relates to the Ludum Dare 40 Theme “The more you have, the worse it is” because the more kills you have in the game, the more the value of the treasure decreases. I am sorry for not making this clearer in the game and having this concept only mentioned in the intro.

Cardhoard by HacksawUnit 2017-12-09T06:25:37Z

Simple idea executed well! I liked the polished gameplay mechanics and the shakiness of the screen. The UI looks pretty nice too. I am not really sure this is a glitch or if it was intentional, but I could continually jump on the walls to climb in the game. Also, some retro music would greatly improve the quality of this game.

Zealot by fasterthanlime 2017-12-23T00:41:31Z

Unfortunately, I didn't understand how to play the game as it was too complex for me and the tutorial was too hard for me. I wish the learning curve of the game wasn't so difficult. The aesthetic of the graphics of the game was decent. The music of the game was decent as it was alright and it was not too repetitive like other Ludum Dare games. I did like the sound effects and I also liked the mood that the audio and aesthetics of graphics provided. Finally, I enjoyed the polish of the game. I liked the way the cards moved onto the table and off the table. I also liked the UI and thought it was fancy.

Too Many Chooks by Schu 2017-12-11T01:59:27Z

This is a pretty interesting game. However, there are some concepts in the game that I didn't like. Even though the sound effects were pretty realistic, they got repetitive very quick. Perhaps you can create two soundeffects for each action and make a random generator that randomly chooses between those two soundeffects which soundeffect to play when doing the action. You can also randomly change the soundeffects' pitch only a little bit each time they perform an action. Also, some background music could improve the mood of the game much more. Even though the graphics of the chickens were pretty good, the pan's graphics could have been better if you added some subtle light and shadows and blurred them on the pan. Finally, the gameplay isn't exactly innovative because it is too similar to Pong. However, despite these flaws, this game is pretty good!

Crave by Boschdog03 2017-12-09T07:47:04Z

This is a pretty good game! There is a glitch in the game though. Sometimes when moving with the arrow keys, the main character would automatically move in some direction. Also, the game would be better and more functional if it prohibited the character from leaving the screen. Other than that, the game was great. I liked the art in the game. The stick figures were kind of funny. I also liked the blood splatter and the way that the UI moved when the player was low on health.

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-09T19:06:33Z

Unfortunately, the controls aren't very polished. The character moved too fast. Also, the gameplay wasn't very entertaining. It would have been nice if there were objectives or levels in the game. However, though the game wasn't really fun, I did like the spooky audio and graphics. They provided a sort of surreal creepy mood.

Evil Money by interpol 2017-12-16T04:57:48Z

This game has a nice concept. Its not too innovative though. I liked the aesthetic of the graphics and the music of the game. Unfortunately, even though the gameplay was quite fun, it evidently lacked polish. First of all, there isn't a proper game over. Secondly, I sometimes stepped inside an enemy's vision and didn't get spotted. Also, the movement in the game, especially the enemy's movement, was very unrealistic as the characters slid when they moved. I also spotted typos in the game too. Finally, I don't understand why the game's resolution is so big. I would have preferred for the resolution to be smaller so I didn't have to use the scrollbars to look at a button. However, despite some flaws, I think this game is still pretty decent.

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-09T19:22:39Z

Though the game isn't exactly original, it was pretty fun to play. The gameplay mechanics felt pretty polished and the difficulty was not too hard or too easy. I also loved the cute 3D graphics and funny sound effects. If you are planning to expand this game, I would recommend adding music, a main menu, a tutorial, and leaderboards. Overall, playing the game was pretty calming and relaxing.

Don't get drunk by tulipekoni 2017-12-16T04:46:28Z

This is a pretty interesting game. I liked its simple innovation in where the player avoids picking up objects rather than being encouraged to collect them. This is usually not done often in infinite runner games. One concept that I disliked about this game was that its music loop was extremely short and caused the music to sound repetitive. I would also recommend continuing the music loop after each time the player died, so the music doesn't start over when the player respawns. Even though the graphics were simple, I liked the aesthetic. Finally, I loved the whole drunk effect. I just wish that there was a way to become sober as the game pretty much became impossible when the player became too drunk. Overall, good work with this game!

Mortal Komba by kokirisandfriends 2017-12-09T06:39:14Z

This game was pretty interesting. It was pretty difficult to me to visually see when to jump in the game since the graphics were in 2D. This made the game difficult in the wrong way. However, I did like the music and the cute soundeffects. The graphics though were probably the best part of the game. I liked the polished UI, the lights and shadows on characters, the elegant scrolling background and just the overall childish aesthetic.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Rogues Like Beer by NickZangus 2018-12-25T23:57:09Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked that the game has good, realistic animations that fit the mood of the game.

One Concept I Disliked: * I disliked the fact that there are no hints or clues to use when stuck in the game. I wish there was a YouTube walkthrough or something to help me when I get stuck.

Revolver Curse by SkullPixel 2018-12-27T01:08:24Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked the music because it did not sound repetitive and it fit the mood of the game.

One Concept I Disliked: * This game did not really fit the theme. Since bullets that were shot could be recollected, there was not really any sacrifice in this game.

Night of the Clawrm by dwemthy 2018-12-27T00:52:43Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked the game's use of the theme as it was very present in the game and there does not seem to be a dissonance between the gameplay and the theme.

One Concept I Disliked: * I disliked the animations because they felt unpolished and they were very unrealistic and abnormal.

JLIM by egordorichev 2018-12-25T01:32:36Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked how the music sounded good as it sounded varied and it did not sound repetitive.

One Concept I Did Not Like: * I did not like how certain aspects of the game were not explained well. This game needs a better tutorial.

Jesus Take the Wheel by PeachTreeOath 2018-12-24T00:08:55Z

One Concept I Liked About The Game: * I liked how the music fit the game's mood and how the music started to become fast and chaotic when the game started to become really chaotic as well.

One Concept I Disliked About The Game: * The tutorial is not that good and more work could have been put into the tutorial to explain every aspect of the game that is not obvious for the player.

Please Player by Noa Calice 2018-12-25T01:50:18Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked how the dialog of some of the human characters that I killed made me feel guilty.

One Concept I Disliked: * I disliked the fact that if you press the button pretty fast, the player will not hear the dialog of the characters that are killed and therefore will not really feel guilty.

Humanity Hero by Guilb 2018-12-24T00:41:22Z

One Concept That I Liked: * I liked how the voices and the dark soundtrack fit the dark mood of the game.

One Concept That I Did Not Like: * I have played the game for a little bit of time and I did not see any clear win/lose conditions of the game.

Save the little ones by acoto87 2018-12-22T03:39:23Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked the metroidvania styled gameplay because it made the world feel more alive and it was interesting to see how clever the level design was.

One Concept I Disliked: * I disliked the lack of music because the lack of music caused the game to not have much of a an atmospheric mood and I barely felt any emotions while playing the game.

Alain's Sacrifice by Daniel_Abeleira 2018-12-09T05:25:27Z

One Concept I liked: * I liked the professionality of the UI screens in the game, the stories the text told, and the font of the text.

One Concept I disliked: * I disliked how the game had pretty basic gameplay which did not really challenge the player that much except for the unreasonable sensitivity of the controls and the camouflaged, almost hidden, spikes.

For Brain ! by nolifedev 2018-12-26T00:14:02Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked the game's music because it did not sound repetitive and it was some nice sounding music that fit the mood of the game.

One Concept I Disliked: * I did not like the jumping physics as I thought the gravity was too strong when falling and this was unrealistic.

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-08T08:28:55Z

One concept I liked: The music was good. I liked how interesting and varied the main menu music sounded. It was sharp and clear. The music was very interesting and it supported the mood of the game. I liked that the main menu music was pretty long and it was not annoyingly extremely repetitive. I also liked the music in the levels because it was not repetitive and it fitted the mood of the game. I liked how the music in the levels have an interesting melody and I liked how other notes in the music support this melody.

One concept I did not like: I could not complete level two. No matter how much I tried, I could never get one of the playable characters to hit the lever. I strongly suggest to have player feedback be given during the creation of your games. This is because players play much differently than that of a developer as they do not know the game as well as the developer. Study your players and see what they are doing. Studying your players sufficiently will allow you to know what their thought processes will most likely be in the game, and this can help you design your levels in a fashion that will allow players to actually know how to complete the levels. Also, other than collecting player feedback, you could also help players learn how to complete the levels by giving players a video walkthrough or by giving hints during gameplay.

Flying Farmer by relixes 2018-12-10T06:59:14Z

One Concept I Liked: * The unique gameplay was fun to play as it challenged the player and the game was not too hard or too easy. The difficulty of the game felt just right.

One Concept I Disliked: * Due to the unique gameplay, it was especially important for this game to have a good tutorial. Unfortunately, this game's tutorial did not have much information on the game's rules. You should not only describe what the controls do, but you should also describe all the mechanics in the game which the average player would not know when first playing this game.

Reaching The Sky by SKDF 2018-12-22T03:52:42Z

One Concept I Liked: * I liked the sound effects because they sounded very realistic and they immersed me into the world of the game.

One Concept I Disliked: * I had a difficult time trying to find out where to go in the game. You should playtest before publishing your game to see what is too difficult for players.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-05-18T18:38:26Z

One Concept I Liked: I liked how the game's aesthetic (graphics and audio) combined to create a peaceful relaxing atmosphere, or mood.

One Concept I Disliked: The game got repetitive somewhat quickly and it lost some of its initial entertainment value after some time.

Seaway by Constantin 2019-05-18T19:02:58Z

One Concept I Liked: The game's graphics and audio meshed well to create a relaxing mood, or atmosphere.

One Concept I Disliked: The theme of this game jam should have been used more adequately in this game.

Ollo's Life by Memel06 2019-05-18T20:01:15Z

One Concept I Liked: I liked the mood, or atmosphere, of the game. The Game Boy graphics as well as the retro music made me give this game a high score on mood.

One Concept I Disliked: There was a glitch that occurred to me at the moment where I exchanged all my lives to save the boy. This glitch just shook the screen and prevented me from progressing further.

Rashness by Saering 2019-05-18T19:41:37Z

One Concept I Liked: I liked the game's usage of the theme in the gameplay. Buying powerups with my health points really made me think about what I needed to defeat the boss.

One Concept I Disliked: I disliked the fact that the player could not undo any actions when buying powerups in the powerups menu. It would have been more convenient for the player if this problem was solved as it would make selecting powerups more user friendly.

Escape from Hell by Becher 2019-05-18T18:51:31Z

One Concept I Liked: I liked the isometric graphical style of the game, the fonts, and the animations.

One Concept I Disliked: The lack of audio in the game killed the mood, or atmosphere, of the game and it's story.

utsvulten by ditto 2019-05-18T20:04:05Z

One Concept I Liked: I liked how the graphics, the audio, and the gameplay combined to produce a creepy surreal mood.

One Concept I Disliked: A problem that I encountered while playing the game was that sometimes I was not able to select something even though I was using the mouse correctly.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

a Damsel a Day by alec 2020-10-11T21:52:37Z

I liked that the game had simple and easy to understand instructions. This made the game accessible for me. I also liked the retro style of the game displayed by the pixel art and the simple soundtracks. I, however, found the game to not really be fun because I felt that there were not many adrenaline-inducing moments. There were not many moments where I barely saved the damsel in the nick of time or was close to saving the damsel.

Defuse in under 5 by Darylsteak 2020-10-24T20:24:30Z

I liked the game's innovative mechanics. I found it interesting how the player had to use clues in the level to solve puzzles. I also found the music to be fine and not be disturbing during gameplay. However, I would like the game to be more accessible. It would be preferable if a tutorial was available when starting the game. I also felt that sometimes the graphics for previous clones looked too similar to the current version of the player, which led to me feeling confusion.

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-24T19:51:01Z

The 3D graphics of the game were very well done and colorful. The animation was pretty polished. The audio was great especially the music which had a lot of depth to it. I did find the game to be slightly frustrating because I felt that the camera was the biggest obstacle in the game. Furthermore, I did not like repeating large portions of the game when I died.

GLITCH LOOP by ZakAmana 2020-10-13T23:42:00Z

The gameplay was fun for me as I found the level design to be quite challenging but not too difficult. Furthermore, I was impressed by the game's polished graphics (especially visual effects) and polished audio. However, the game was not good at explaining how to play.

LoopChan by Kaish 2020-10-14T00:13:02Z

I liked the challenging level design which really tested my skills. I also found the game's graphics and audio to be very polished and elegant. However, I feel like the game should explain more regarding how to play more than just the controls as I initially experienced some confusion on certain aspects of the gameplay.

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-11T03:07:22Z

I liked how the graphics of the game was designed to give an authentic computer terminal theme as this was great for expressing the mood of the game. I also found the idea of having to deal with multiple popups in a limited amount of time to be pretty challenging as it forced me to make split-second decisions and sacrifices without much forethought. The gameplay was quite adrenaline inducing and fun. However, I did not like the fact that there was no evident way to decrease the CPU temperature. I disliked this because I felt like I did not have much agency to postpone defeat as my skills alone could not stop the CPU temperature increasing indefinitely.

P.S. The word "program" in the game is spelled incorrectly.

LÖÖPS by Tamail 2020-10-11T03:27:05Z

The graphics for the game were decent. I especially appreciated the detailed graphics for the cat at the opening cutscene as well as the graphics for the variety of diverse cats in the gameplay. The music was furthermore pleasant to hear and made playing the game more comfortable. Unfortunately, I found the game to be quite boring. This is because the game lacks in player choice and challenge and the gameplay is too repetitive.

Redneck Raceway by Henrik Ganard 2020-10-25T05:17:16Z

I liked the graphics of the game. The 3D models were colorful and the camera displayed the scenery beautifully. I also liked the audio of the game. The sound effects were realistic and the voice acting was pretty decent. Unfortunately, I found the gameplay to be quite boring because I usually do not like games with no end goals. Due to the lack of end goals in this game, there really is not any sense of achievement or gratification I feel when I play the game.

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-25T04:33:48Z

The graphics of the game were decent. I especially liked the illumination in the game. I also thought that the audio was decent and liked how the screen shake effect made me feel the beat. Unfortunately, I found the gameplay to be quite boring because I usually do not like games with no end goals. Due to the lack of end goals in this game, there really is not any sense of achievement or gratification I feel when I play the game.

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-25T04:47:30Z

The graphics of the game were decent. Although the graphics were quite simple, I liked the simple animations that brought the game to life. I also liked the sound effects in the game, particularly the calming sound that plays when the ball is stuck in a loop. I think this game could be more accessible to players by adding a proper tutorial. When I first started playing, I did not understand the importance of the numbers in the loops.

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-11T02:44:52Z

I liked the game's soundtracks and how it fit with the general warm mood of the game. I also liked how the simplistic black and white graphics displayed the simple themes of the game. However, I felt that since the game lacked any sense of challenge, there was not much motivation to repeat playing the game again and this is unfortunate considering that the game is supposed to focus on being stuck in a loop.

Loop Deleter by Zachary Barbanell 2020-10-25T05:02:10Z

I found the gameplay to be fun. I liked the challenging bite-size puzzles. I also thought that the gameplay was quite unique as I have never played a game like this before. Unfortunately, I disliked the lack of music. The lack of music made playing the game eerily quiet, which made me feel awkward. I also found the graphics to not look polished enough. I especially did not like the fonts used as they were not easy to read.

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-14T00:37:20Z

I liked the graphics of the game (especially the visual effects and the screen shake). I liked the moody simple soundtrack and the sound effects were also quite nice. However, this game was frustrating for me. First, I was angrily confused on what the objective of the game was. I was still frustrated with the game after learning what the objective was because I thought it was unfair that death resetted all my progress.

Collateral Damage by Michael Parrish 2020-10-24T20:45:31Z

I liked the game's graphics and how a lot of elements were animated. I also thought that the gameplay was innovative. I liked how the game discouraged spamming the shoot button and instead forced the player to shoot wisely and carefully. Unfortunately, I found the gameplay to be quite boring because I usually do not like games with no end goals. Due to the lack of end goals in this game, there really is not any sense of achievement or gratification I feel when I play the game.

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-10T21:06:28Z

I liked how the game's aesthetic and sound enhanced the mood of the game and gave an Aztec vibe. I also really liked the innovative concept for the core gameplay as it does not really follow conventional gameplay genres. Unfortunately, I felt that the game suffered from a lack of purpose as there was no end goal and I did not feel like I really accomplished much by the time I decided I was finished playing the game before reviewing.

P.S. The open source code link does not work.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-04-28T03:22:11Z

This game is pretty innovative and uses the theme interestingly. I like how fast paced and fun the gameplay was, even though it was pretty hard. I also liked the music in the game and thought the graphics were decent enough. I kind of wish that the hearts were not continuously pumping because, for some reason, it made it harder for me to press space when they were constantly pumping. I wish they just pumped when you pressed the space bar on them. I liked the game's humor, especially the references to the eggplant emoji in texts.

Rythm is Lava by egordorichev 2018-04-28T02:41:58Z

I think this game is pretty interesting. I unfortunately did not like the fact that sometimes the player can accidentally go back to a recent level and this was pretty annoying. However, I thought the mechanic in where both players are controlled by the same keys was fun because it created interesting and entertaining puzzles that I could solve quickly. The graphics and music of the game were also very polished and made the experience very enjoyable. Looking at this game, I do not see any RPG mechanics and rhythm elements really, and the puzzle genre and platformer genre are very much compatible. Therefore, I do not see how this game really relates to the theme well but it was still an enjoyable game!

Love In The Gaming Club by D-Studios 2018-05-06T02:09:24Z

@slashee-the-cow Leaving the game screen in the platforming sections results in restarting the level.

Infinite Typer by theamazingb 2018-05-05T00:43:27Z

This is a pretty great game. Importantly, there is this interesting glitch. Since the player can continuously press the Enter key to perform an action that is already written in the screen, if the player holds the Enter key with the word "jump" written, the player can jump really high and "fly" over the city. In fact, the player can fall outside of the play area. In addition to this, I am not sure if this is intentional but the physics system of the game is pretty unrealistic. For example, sometimes when the player hits a car, the car will start rolling. I would also like to point out that there are a ton of visible UI mistakes including typos and words not fitting inside a text box. In fact, the bottom right corner of the game should say "Ludum Dare", not "Luddum Dare". The rules of Ludum Dare allow participants to fix glitches, even after the game is posted. Fixing these glitches can make the game better for players who decide to play the game. I also think the graphics would be better if the game had its own unique skybox rather than using Unity's default skybox. Despite these glitches, I did like the challenging innovative gameplay and I really liked the soundtrack and sound effects. Kudos to you guys for making a great 3D game with awesome graphics in 72 hours.

Crazy Cube by YANIV 2018-05-05T00:21:18Z

This was an interesting game. I liked the whole unique concept, but I wished the directions on how to play were a bit more clearer. I also think this game would be much better with some audio. I noticed that the NPCs that were not tanks did not have smart AI and they were too easy to just skip past without killing. Now I know that the score component in the game is to motivate the player to try to kill the most NPCs, but I still think the game would be more fun and challenging if they had smarter AI. They could have either stood in place and shoot or they could have been like the red tanks in the game. I also think that the game would be much better if it had better UI that was polished and pretty.

The Passage by Vodzik 2018-05-06T18:10:57Z

The gameplay was fun but the game needs polish. The movement in the game is way too fast. Also, sometimes the player might sink a little bit in the floor at the beginning of a playthrough. I also saw a wall glitch while I was playing. I also do not get how the game really relates to the theme. I know you said in a blog post that it was a combination of an infinite runner and a first person shooter, but the gameplay really isn't an infinite runner. The walls closing in reminds me more of a safe zone becoming smaller in a battle royale genre than the gameplay of an infinite runner. The game is really just a first person shooter. Though the graphics were simple and there was a lot of Unity sample models like the capsule from Unity, I did like the lighting and colors and the game looked beautiful. Even though the blood particle effects were created mainly from Unity's sample assets, I thought the blood was a nice polish after the enemy dies. I do wish that there was graphics for the player's bullets so that way I can see how close I am to hitting an enemy with a bullet. The audio was simple but I kind of liked it in a way. The game would be cooler if there was background music though. Overall, this game was fun to play. However, it needs polish. To be honest, I usually prefer to make 2D games for Ludum Dare as it is easier and I have more time to polish. 3D games usually are harder and longer to make and take more time to polish.

Despite its flaws, I did like your game.

YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-29T00:02:04Z

This game remind me of Doki Doki Literature Club, and the experience was sort of depressing. I like how the audio, the graphics, and everything about the game just fit into a sad depressing moody atmosphere. I also like the polish behind the game. I like how the camera moves when moving around the mouse and I also like the blurry screen effects. It makes the game feel more depressing. Though there was not much gameplay, I had fun because the mystery in the story of the game intrigued me to play this game longer than I usually play for Ludum Dare games. I would like to note that there is one glitch in the game, and that is closing the About Me page does not work.

Think Before Escape by acoto87 2018-04-29T21:39:11Z

I like the concept behind the game in that it is a combination of real time and turn based games. Though the audio was simple, the graphics, audio and text created a sort of retro experience that I enjoyed. I also liked how the powerups simply did not just give the player an advantage, but it also gave the player a disadvantage (even though the player's turn is longer, the enemy's turn is also longer). This made me think about whether I should pick a powerup or not. I did not understand the mechanic of going backwards to a level the player just completed. I did not finish this game, but is this game possibly a Metroidvania?

ACCIDENTAL EXISTENTIAL by slovnoslomo 2018-04-29T20:55:24Z

This game was pretty different and strange and it did remind me of a short film. I like how not much is said and it kind of leaves the player to think about the situations. The graphics and especially the audio of the game make the game feel moody. I did not mind the lack of much gameplay and I liked the fact that the game was trying to go beyond being fun and ask meaningful questions. I also thought the usage of theme was somewhat different from the other Ludum Dare games that I have played so far.

Shuffle Climber by miroky 2018-05-06T02:45:45Z

This game was somewhat decent. I liked the concept behind the game, and I liked how it was accessible to play and it was pretty fun to play too. I, however, thought it was unfair that sometimes the player would have to be very lucky to continue a playthrough. The probabilities of what cards showed up sometimes made it literally impossible to progress through the game. The graphics of the game were decent enough and most of the audio was pretty good but the credits scene was strange. I did like the scrolling effect in the credits scene. However, I really disliked the background music in the credits scene because of the random screaming. I do not think the music was funny and I did not like listening to it. All the other audio in the game was decent though. I also think the credits scene should have a back button if the player just wants to go back to the main menu without watching the full credits. Other than that, good job on the game. The game was decent.

BIRKANOID by MateCziner 2018-04-28T03:04:55Z

The concept behind the game is interesting. Unfortunately for me, the game was pretty easy to win and I could easily win a level by spamming the cards quickly. The graphics and audio are decent and it somewhat fits the game but I thought the graphics for the balls were too plain in my opinion. I liked the polish of the game mechanics in that sometimes the screen will shake a little bit when the ball hits something hard with a great speed. It made the ball feel "heavy". One modification that could make this game more fun and harder to win is to set a maximum card usage limit or even have a time limit to complete the level and a small time break between the usages of cards.

Escape by Gamekrazzy 2018-04-29T00:22:15Z

I wish the game was easier. I honestly could not solve the third room's puzzle and I had to use a guide to solve the second room's puzzle. I do like how the second room's puzzle was structured in that the player had to use a seemingly useless mechanic to find the combination. The audio and art were decent and it made it feel like a Gameboy game. Overall, this game was pretty unique and decent.

Birdy by HagamosVideojuegos 2018-05-06T05:14:20Z

This game was pretty unique. I liked the gameplay, and how it had puzzle type mechanics and made the player think about when to perform certain actions. I do think the difficulty is pretty harsh as the player has to restart the whole game when the player loses all of his/her lives. This was too punishing. Instead of doing this, I wish there were no lives and that the player just had to restart the current level in the game when the player died. That would make the game more fun. Now, I do know the player can just type load to restart the level with the original amount of health the player started the level with if the player saved when the player entered the level and didn't save after he/she died, but this is an annoying workaround. Also, the glitch in where the lives are equal to -1 when you die should be fixed, even though it doesn't disturb the gameplay experience. Fixing this glitch will make the game seem more polished. There also should be an option to restart the game and delete all saves without having to lose all your lives or having to type load. You can try making the game reset when the player types restart. The graphics of the game were decent, even though the background looked a little bland. The audi was very good. Overall, I enjoyed playing this game.

P.S. Sometimes the audio didn't play when I opened up the game.

Gender Circles by EkkoEkko 2018-04-29T22:01:01Z

I like the art of the game and how the graphics look like someone drew them by hand. I especially liked the animations of the game and thought that even though they look simple, they were pretty good. I also like how the fonts look handwritten. The audio in the game was very good and it fits the mood of the game. The interpretation of the theme was interesting and it was wildly different from other Ludum Dare games. The game was pretty fun to play too.

Flappy Blocks by Radical Dog 2018-05-05T01:21:17Z

The game had a pretty interesting concept but it was really hard. I really liked the audio and the polish behind the game. The graphics were somewhat decent. I liked how the dialogue looked like it was being written and I liked the sound effects that were played with the dialogue and I liked the font. I also thought the story was very intriguing and funny. I liked how you made fun of the pay to win model that is found in lots of free to play games. I do wish that you could have been more clear about how to make lines, as I originally thought that I could make horizontal lines in the game. Even though the gameplay was difficult, I was amazed at how interesting the dialogue was after defeat. It seemed like the dialogue was completely different every time the player lost. I have a question: is there a set amount of dialogue and is the dialogue randomly picked from the set for every time the player loses? Well, it is true that I did not play the game for too long so maybe the dialogue just seemed unique every time I lost.

P.S. Why did you remove the mood category for the game? I think that the game had a pretty good mood to it.

Type n' Jump by Richard N Silva 2018-05-06T18:37:21Z

I like how fun and challenging the game was. Its use of platforming and typing game play made the game sort of like a puzzle platformer. I had to time my movements in order to avoid death. I like how seamless respawning in the game is and I do like that there are checkpoints. It would be annoying to restart the whole game again upon death. I like how the checkpoints are placed fairly, without making the game too difficult or too easy. I also like the aesthetic of the graphics and I like how the text looked, especially the text box where the player types commands. The sound effects sounded great. Though the soundtrack was short and repetitive, it sounded great and I liked it in a a way.

Deep space - cards battle by Serious07 2018-05-06T17:42:28Z

I did not like this game. The game's mechanics needs to be adjusted. The movement of the space ship is way too fast in the game. Also, the background is way too dark and I can barely see anything. The enemy bullets in the game look to similar to the stars in the background and I can accidently bump into the bullets while thinking they are stars. Also, there should be a limit of how much I can travel up or there should be a way to shoot enemies behind the player. The audio needs to be louder and should sound better. I seriously can barely hear the audio unless my volume is near 100%. I should be able to hear the audio clearly near 50%.

P.S. The audio sometimes does not play when I open up the game. I think this is might be a Google Chrome issue.

Super Platformer RPG by Silent Tower Games 2018-04-29T00:38:01Z

I think this game had interesting and entertaining gameplay mechanics. I do wish that the gravity of the jumps in the platformer parts was not so strong, as the player fell too fast and it kind of made jumping to platforms hard. I did like how the audio, the simple graphics, and the dialogue fit together. I wish that the controls of the game were listed somewhere (either in game or in the description of the game) as I was initially confused a little bit on how to play. Overall, it was a great simple game that was fun to finish.

Late for Love by Gaze Team 2018-05-06T03:31:55Z

I liked this game. I liked the whole mood the game created and I loved the graphics and the music. I thought the dialogue in the game was pretty interesting and I liked the story development. I also like that even though the protagonist is not really known (since nobody knows what he looks like) and he is also mostly defined by what the player does, the protagonist does have a backstory. In my opinion, I do not really like that in some games, the players are given a blank state character and have to solely define the character by the player's actions. By incorporating a lot of backstory for the protagonist, it made me care more about the protagonist and his relationship with the girl in the game. Even though the gameplay was simple, it was decent, fun and amusing to play. The gameplay was relaxing. I like that there were checkpoints in the game. It would have been frustrating to have to restart the whole game and the story if the player died. I also liked the concept behind the game and felt it fit the theme decently.
