I enjoyed the playing the game but felt there was maybe too much text (in the intro and for each character) after a few decisions I just stopped reading the descriptions completely and played the game with the stats only. That was okay though it still was fun to play that way

vladimir-smolin 2018-12-04 12:17

That was fun to play. And nice UI actually.

kirroyal 2018-12-04 13:19

I like the art style and the idea of the game. Really nice! You put so much effort in the stories in the cards, unfortunatelly after playing a while you stop reading them and just look on the numbers.

gebowunjo 2018-12-04 13:21

The game is just so great ! It made me thinks about "Reigns" ! Nice job !

kaboosh 2018-12-04 14:46

Simple idea well executed, altough you should make the ui scale with screen size beacuse when i tried to play it in a small window 800x600 all of the introduction ui didn't show.

angelnm 2018-12-04 14:53

10/10. I love how fits the context of the game with the ludum theme.

oceanosaurus 2018-12-04 14:56

I like the visuals and the mood of the game. The gameplay remembers to paper please but the consequences of rejection makes the game more fun. I've enjoyed making sacrifices!!

pcmaster 2018-12-04 15:33

Magnificent! The visuals, the sounds, the humour. The sounds of flesh... :D So polished. Guys, you can totally turn this into a commercial product or a research project of some kind (collect stats). Or something. I even managed to win the whole thing. Really good!

luca1152 2018-12-04 15:39

Nice balancing game! The visuals were great.

rocketship 2018-12-04 15:56

The music and gloomy intro (human meat yikes) set a good mood for the game You really feel like the apocalypse is coming. Visually it looks nice and polished with all the nice menu animations, props for the amount of text you managed to get into the game as well. After a couple of rounds I felt the game loop itself started to feel a bit repetitive. Maybe would've liked if the animations of the tiny dudes were a tad faster.

elfunck 2018-12-04 16:05

One of the best game I have played this day, great job !

maxkyckling 2018-12-04 16:19

The game was fun to play but the texts were too long and the game was too hard, so you had to replay like 4 times for each category. I kept playing to see what was in the end but there was nothing there which was a bit sad. But I really liked the graphics and the aesthetics of the game. And the audio! It was great!

fahrenheit459 2018-12-04 16:38

Nice game ! System is really cool ! We would like to see more punishement threw level up as maybe some variations in the mood. Nice job !

rafael-macedo 2018-12-04 16:41

You had me playing till the end, but I feel the game is a bit too random. I had to repeat the same level over and over again sometimes (which by the way there is no notification that you failed whatsoever). I feel that if the decision was between 3 people instead of just 2 it would be a lot more balanced.

tropos 2018-12-04 17:27

Not enough statistics at the end of the level and summarizing. Random events would also make this game much better. After a few levels it gets boring. In General, the game looks cool, but there are some technical problems with the sound. Sometimes the music volume was increased several times causing "bassbuster" version.

isaque-picao-sanches 2018-12-04 17:49

arvejeitor 2018-12-04 18:10

Nice visuals!

valamerand 2018-12-04 18:31

Great Job !

leothil 2018-12-04 18:46

Agree with most of comments. Like very much UI, cool art too, good gameplay basis, missing some random events or something. Very good GameJam game tho, good job !

2018-12-04 21:44

Cool ominous game! ^^ The theme is great!

finn-truman 2018-12-04 21:48

I see somebody has played Papers, Please!

This was a lot of fun. I failed on the first level 3 times in a row because I was trying to figure out what the meta pattern was. Once I beat it, I then didn't fail at all except once. I was kind of disappointed there wasn't one super final level where you had to get 50 of every stat, plus 3 of every gender, plus 3 of every profession.

The attention to detail was brilliant. The little people (though there seems to be a graphical glitch where it looks like there are 2 people left when the level ends), the bios, the vault doors, the gorgeous icons for the stats and the professions. All really good!

One complaint: I would have it so that two clipboards will NOT take away from the same stat. If I'm struggling for one stat and I get two clipboards come through that both subtract from it and I've only got a few more people to go, I'm screwed. There's nothing I can do about it because the RNG wasn't kind to me.

jeffrey-hwang 2018-12-05 02:12

oooh i loved this game. surprisingly rich in story. great job!

radow 2018-12-05 02:36

Wow! incredible Title. [Note: I'm not quite done playing yet, sicne with reading most of the text the game takes quite a while-] The "Papers Please"-like gameplay fits the theme and leads directly to some interestign social commentary. On that note I particularly enjoyed the nodds towards the divercity of the given population. The amount of polish in regards to graphics, audio and gameplay is likewise shocking for a Jam title. As someone who likes to read texts and learn as much as possible in these games I really enjoyyed the character descriptions, especially in the begining. The fact that they start to repeat is understandible given the amount of people vs the amount of time in a jam and while I would have loved to read individual descriptions for everyone the number of unique discriptions is allready really high. There were a couple of bugs in relation to this thought that I did mention: In at least one case the secriptiontexts seemmed to be swapped when comparing attributes, proffesions and texts. Quite often the discription texts would not fit onto the page and jsut stop mid-stence. And finally the right form seemed to be a tiny bit blurry when compared to the left. In spite of these few nitpicks (for a jam game more than excusable!) this is the first game this year that got an overall 5 from me. Really anjoyed it and on my way to play a bit more right away =]

coda-highland 2018-12-05 02:44

Nobody else has commented on it so far, so I will: The random name and description generators were a brilliant touch.

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 10:46

@something-something-games @kirroyal Thanks! We know that too much text might be an issue, so we designed the game in a way that the text just added some flavor and wasn't a mandatory reading. Thanks for playing!

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 10:50

@kaboosh Sorry for that, we developed in a high resosution screen and at the end we noticed the low resolution problem. Tried to fix but had not to much time left to fix properly

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 10:53

@rocketship Thanks for playing! We were aware that the time it takes for the animation was slow, but was the only way to fit the sounds correctly, we couldn't figure out a way to make it quicker and still sound good...

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 10:56

@maxkyckling Thanks for playing. We tried to make a well balanced game, it takes some attempts to get it right but I promisse you that there's a way =) We wanted to make nice end game images but there was no time to make it right

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 11:00

@tropos It is a great idea to summarize, we should have done it! Also agree with the random events, it was one of our initial ideas, but we were not able to implement. Sorry about the bug with the sound, we didn't noticed it.

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 11:04

@finn-truman Thanks for your comment! We wanted to make a level like this, but we tought that the game was already too long for players in a jam, so we cut it out in a way that at least the game could make its point. Great idea to not let two card take away the same stat, could solve a lot of issues with randomness!

xphere 2018-12-05 11:13

Good resource management game, although after three levels it gets a bit repetitive. Liked the names and bios of people, contrasting with the impersonal stick figures. Nice job!

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 11:13

@radow Thank you for this comment! We put a lot of effort in the story, good to hear that you liked it! You got that right, we managed our time in order to get at least 5 stories for each profession so it would be at least a little entertaining, but with the amount of levels it is sure to repeat a lot.

The not fitting texts unfortunatelly was due to randomness and kinda helps with gameplay (though not with the story/character stat).

The low resolution was a problem that we found too late. If you're playing in the browser, we added it in a hurry didn't test it too much, sorry for that.

amigopadilha 2018-12-05 11:14

@coda-highland Thanks =D! We dedicated special time in those!

tetralogia 2018-12-05 12:22

This game is full of good ideas and I really enjoyed playing it. I liked how you created so many characters, gave them a background and a personnality. However, when there's a lot of text and you don't need to read it to win, well... you stop reading it after a while. I know it's hard to do, but it needs balancing. If you put so much work into writing, give the player a reason to read. If you manage to do that, this game will be so great.

Besides, the introduction/tutorial could be integrated into the first level gamplay.

Keep up the good work!

auraman 2018-12-05 12:45

Like some other people already said, it was fun and nice to play, I especially love the apocalyptic atmosphere you transcribed here. But like some said too, there's too much text and people to choose for each step, and you just stop reading the text after a while, just focusing on the stats. I know it would probably have been way longer, but you could have made some random events linked to these backstories, so reading them would have been part of the gameplay much more ? I don't know, it's just a thought ^^. Good work overall !

falak 2018-12-05 17:05

Nice game! Good luck!

xarona 2018-12-05 17:50

nice and very very sad. interestin game idea!

2018-12-05 17:54

The introduction was too long to read. Visual concept and sound are good.

arkinrev 2018-12-05 19:52

I loved how concise the profiles were, and there were several hard decisions in there. I felt like by the end I had finished the introduction and the complexity of what I needed was ready to be explored. I particularly liked the crisp icons that helped identify all of the traits, and the progress to each goal was fantastic. Great work!

ente 2018-12-06 00:34

Nice game! I actually expected a more complex level where I would have to balance more "resources" at the same time.

sargonius 2018-12-06 15:53

Great visuals and atmosphere, but the gameplay is a bit repetitive.

zhorky 2018-12-07 12:01

Really nice game. Gameplay is repetitive to a certain point, but i love the balancing you have to do to reach your goals. I would enjoy if you would go with this game a bit deeper into the rabbit hole :)

guine 2018-12-07 13:05

Jogo bom demais! Adorei jogar esse game. Parabéns pela ideia e pela execução! Vai Brasil! hahaha <3

sadzanenyama 2018-12-07 13:42

Very cool game, essentially its just math but I actually really enjoyed it. I'd have to say one of my favorite of the jam. I know you properly couldn't have done this due to time constraints but I would've been nice to see different people types depending on their gender and occupation instead of all the same black figures. Small glitch but also people continued to appear to enter the bunker even after I had supposedly run out of people to choose from. Nice!

twinghosts 2018-12-07 13:57

Fun game! I liked the graphics and the concept of it, and the text was also fun to read. Yet after 2 levels I just looked at the numbers. It is cool that you incorporated multiple levels with different objectives in such a short amount of time!

After playing for a while I wouldve loved to make it speed up, the animations start to take long and it becomes quite cumbersome.

It was such an interesting game though, I loved playing it!

for-science 2018-12-07 17:19

Nice. I like the atmosphere and the visual style. I would have liked if the early rounds would have been a little shorter. The clean interface makes it quite easy to grasp the concept, but all of the different factors come into play a little too late for my taste.

Other than that I enjoyed it!

prodigalson 2018-12-07 19:03

I mixed feelings here. On the one hand the graphics are really nice, the animation is cute and smooth, and the game feels responsive. I like the decision making process though it really becomes more of a numbers game and after I while I felt like there was no real emotion into what I was doing but more just making numbers go and stay up. On the other hand, it felt a little slow paced for me.

I can't say much on how to improve the pace and make the decisions feel more dire other than maybe making the candidate's backstory stand out more and then seeing the outcome of maybe allowing someone true that is known to go postal occasional just because I was trying to get more number.

Know what I mean? Like, this one is a husband of 2 but we need another doctor and not a builder, or this one gives me more health but could potentially steal money. Something that makes each decision mean more than increasing the bar.

Having said, I think this game is super well polished and shows great love and dedication towards the craft of making games. Nicely done

paul-p1 2018-12-07 20:11

this game is so cool. it reminded me of papers please, but its feels different though. I really enjoyed the little text that describe the characters, some choice were really tough to make, and make us feels less human every time we sacrifice someone. I really liked it

joh 2018-12-08 00:47

Was cool, seemed very polished. Ignoring text might make it bit easier to be 100% utilitarian and reaching the goal. Did seem like the rounds ended with 1 pair left. Since that robbed me of a success, i'm a bit bummed about it. Still nice game.

belonzik 2018-12-08 21:12

I don't know why but this game really put me into the role of the main character. After realising that I'm basically just killing innocent people based on what everyone else needs, I couldn't shake off the dreadful feeling. What would've made it even better/worse would be if the people got dragged away instead just falling into the ground. It would really emphasize that feeling of dread that I experienced while I was playing.

And I think that's where this entry really shines. The graphics are fine, audio is also fine, the story is simple and the gameplay is decent. But it's the mood and emotional aspect of the game that other games struggle to create.

Maybe I'm just weird and getting into it too much but hey, great job anyways.

hellsquirrel 2018-12-09 04:27

Fallout shelter 2 looks perfect)

dexp 2018-12-09 13:49

Very balanced game. Feels like a normal game, not a prototype created in a very short time frame. Muisc make the atmospehere more sarcificient, but a bit too much from my point of view. Great game, keep going!

jimbly 2018-12-09 21:48

Neat! A couple times I just got unlucky (on last draw, needed all 50s, and I was at something like 65/55/55, and I drew cards that always had more than -5 in one of the last two stats :( ), and that felt unfair, but luckily it wasn't too punishing to replay the level.

morg 2018-12-10 09:52

I really liked the game, reminded me of Papers Please. I wish you had built a bit more around the mechanics of rejecting some people and it would've been cool if they would come back as a backstory or to interfere with the bunker or something like that. but I can understand the time and content constraints. Still a really well thought out and balanced game. I appreciated it.

amigopadilha 2018-12-10 13:38

flashviper 2018-12-10 23:47

Nice game. The choice aspect of it made it very fun, and hearing those people scream as they fall down the chute cracks me up every time.

lise-carreel 2018-12-12 09:59

All I missed was some background music. In every other aspect, this was a great game ! good job :D ! I would have loved to see what this better society looks like :D !

gaming-night 2018-12-12 11:57

Really cool entry, I enjoyed my time playing your game

thecritterscove 2018-12-12 18:31

The UI is very sharp and professional looking. The characters waving their arms as they move is kind of funny. The audio also sets a suitable mood. The mechanic felt more like a math game than one requiring sacrifice. I did really like the idea though and would like to see it developed further.

hugonun 2018-12-12 19:31

Overall it's a nice game, but the text stopped to matter, and progress-wise it didn't seem to matter. There was another game like this where we had to read the text to see if that person can give us supplies that we need, this game should include something like that.

coatline 2018-12-20 15:53

This one is one of the best I've played yet! Great idea and the way the gameplay works is just great. I do think that it got a little slow near the end but I still had lots of fun with it. Great job!

acaral 2018-12-22 17:39

For me your concept is like Papers please with betterment (I will not make friends among jammers saying this). So it's a good concept very polished.

d-studios 2018-12-24 00:41

One Concept That I Liked: * I liked how the voices and the dark soundtrack fit the dark mood of the game.

One Concept That I Did Not Like: * I have played the game for a little bit of time and I did not see any clear win/lose conditions of the game.

ethan-kennerly 2018-12-25 05:31

When I read dossiers and balanced attributes and professions, I felt interested. If you continue to develop this, I mistook the "Required Professions" section to mean the "Starting Professions." My fault for not reading and recalling these were "Required Professions." I was trying to pick doctors and builders, because I misinterpreted that I already had 5 scientists.
