LD42 — Running out of space

Don't Fall In Love by chaotikza 2018-08-14T21:10:04Z

Hey. Nice work! I liked the idea! :) (because zombies are awesome and we need more positive zombie portrayal, you know?!!) I didn't really get it in the first round but afterwards it became quite clear and straightforward. Though there was a point where I was pretty sure it is not possible to beat the game. I think there were some points where the enemies hit me and it didn't do any damage to me. And also the gameplay with the damage didn't really work well I think, as you just respawn in the middle, where you actually want to be.

Gold Eater by Finlal 2018-08-16T18:24:52Z

Wonderful game! I was interested in it and caught by your beautiful graphics and did also really enjoy the game mechanics. The third level was really hard, but still possible to master, that was nice. Only negative thing: i think the movement was really clunky, it would have been nicer if it were somehow smoother. Like this I needed a lot of time to learn how and when to exactly press buttons so I wouldn't be stuck and fall down with the platforms. That seemed a bit unnecessary. Still my favourite game I found this round so far! ;)

Zachary's Memory by namnam 2018-08-16T19:16:17Z

This game is really beautiful! It is an amazing atmosphere with the music and the story. The graphics, though rather few, are very beautiful as well. Well done.

Pop it! by LJay 2018-08-14T21:50:18Z

I agree with what the first two people here said. ;) And I really liked the "Don't press' level mode. And the graphics were very cute! But I didn't like the sound. It got really annoying really fast!

And for the level variety. I even felt that the last levels were easier than the middle ones. Maybe because of the sort of popcorn that comes in? Not sure...

Terra Tides by CameronJSamuels 2018-08-14T21:27:57Z

Hey. Nice idea! Some thoughts I had about the game without a real order:

The amount of the resources you could gather at ones was too random I think. You didn't have any interactions between the resources right? Because I think it would have been nice if it weren't possible at all to try to build a boat with one missing (for example you can't build it without at least one rope...) The graphics were really cute! But I really don't like the ending screen's color... And if you click on next turn after the 8th round it would have been nice to have some kind of message that you drown with the island instead of just a blank screen. An interaction of the flood and the resources might also have been nice (e.g. you cant get woods at the last days because the forest is flooded).

The Subway: horror within by Bibilega 2018-08-14T01:00:13Z

@daria-s you did the art alone, right? It's really great! I especially liked the playable character. Amazing job to have done it in the time!

Apart from the graphics I did like the different abilities and everything. Your game is fun. I just gave it a second try and won. Yay. I wouldn't play it again, as the mechanics don't allow for a lot of variations and it would get boring soon. But as it is it's a nice ld game!

Comfort Zone by radow 2018-08-14T01:56:34Z

@spoopsmcgee Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! We really tried to convey that kind of atmosphere and still make it a fun experience and one that doesn't only have "bad endings".

Comfort Zone by radow 2018-08-14T01:58:09Z

@burgee Thank you! I hope you are in a better place now or are on the road towards it! :) It was really personal to do that kind of commentary for all of us as well, so I get you.

Comfort Zone by radow 2018-08-14T02:03:09Z

@314owen thank you! =)

@egawag thanks! yeah, we focused a lot on the story. we actually still have a little bit of dialogue which we couldn't implement yet and want to put in a post jam version! ;) It all just got too much to do in the end...

@g4mr Thanks for the comment about the window. We might look into it in the post jam version, but I don't really know, as this is not my field. ;) And aww, thank's for the nice comment on the game mode!

Comfort Zone by radow 2018-08-14T19:17:25Z

Hey @avavt could you tell me, which part of the art style didn't fit together in your opinion? That would be really nice. We worked as a team of two people and do have different art styles but I think we could try making it work better next time. Though you could also mean things one person did which are on different layers and do have a different style as well, so I would be curious to know which it is. ;)

Running out of Space by 314owen 2018-08-16T19:33:33Z

Very nice short game. The graphics are simple but very cute, the puzzles are fun but could be a bit more difficult maybe. The use of the theme was one we also thought about, but didn't have any good ideas how to do it.^^ For me, the browser version worked just fine (there was a comment about the scrolling before).

Countdown by Elnu 2018-08-14T01:49:02Z

I kind of tried the same things as @gamebuilder and I couldn't get past 85. 87 in the end. But yeah, I think it is a nice game, because even though the mechanic is really simple, it made me stay a lot longer on trying it out, than I wanted to first. ;)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Night's End by glimaleite 2018-12-04T23:17:46Z

Wow, I really love the mood of the game! :) The artwork is very nice and this night/despair/all_alone_in_the_woods feeling is conveyed with it and the guitar soundtrack fits very beautifully too. I think it is really round what you have done!I actually would not agree with @glimaleite about the cutscenes. I liked them. Without them it would have just felt like any tower defense game. With the cutscenes it gives some more atmosphere/mood to it. Or well... I would agree that they are a bit too much, when you have already seen them. Because you always have to rewatch them, when draining the life too much, right? maybe this could be done differently?

De-Railed by OccultOne 2018-12-14T15:38:03Z

Hey. Beautiful graphics! The idle animations is a bit too much/ too fast, I feel, but otherwise also really cool, that you could implement it! I won't say much else right now about the game, because I got stuck on some level and wanted to ask, if it was a bug or if I just didn't find what I had to do. Situation: I went outside two times for engine parts. Then I had to decouple a wagon for more parts. After this some engines got broken (I saw it but couldn't do anything, or could I?) and the train stops, but there is a storm outside, so you can't go outside. And then I tried to interact with whatever was there, but I couldn't find anything to do. As I read thorugh some of the comments, I am pretty sure, that this was not an intended ending and there was more to explore. So did I do something wrong? Did some event just not trigger?

Worsheep by hbirler 2018-12-06T02:18:10Z

funny thing: you can double-jump all the time and fly through space!!! ;) A very beautiful sheep.

Ursa by Maksym 2018-12-06T18:43:31Z

Hey! I was convinced of playing this game when I saw your post of it, cause the graphics are so beautiful! Overall a very heartwarming game. I love space-games/stories. :) The movement felt a bit clunky but maybe I am just too bad in these games. ;) Also the balancing of the levels could be better. The third one was very difficult for me whereas the last one was pretty easy! But I really enjoyed this game overall. Would play a longer version probably ;)

Ludum Dare: The Game by pantoufle 2018-12-05T00:25:00Z

Great game! :D And yeah, true story, true story. Got quite a nice game out of it and even some sleep... :P As said before there could probably be some cool features added, but really: I like it as "simple" as it is. It's quick to play and very comprehensible.

Humanity Hero by Guilb 2018-12-06T00:34:41Z

Nice game! I actually expected a more complex level where I would have to balance more "resources" at the same time.

Eternal Home Floristry by Deconstructeam 2018-12-12T01:38:20Z

Very beautiful game! The dialogues, the mood, the music, the drawings! <3 Thank you for this game.

Only two negative things I can say about it: 1. I don't have windows, so I had to play it at a friend's computer and will probably not play it a third time to test out different bouquets to see what will change. Which is kind of sad. 2. there were some dialogues that doubled. One of them said something and then the same sentence was displayed from the next character too. It happened two times and both times I felt I missed one sentence of the conversation.

Sacrifice - The Card Game by MadreDeDios 2018-12-05T00:56:33Z

I also want to agree with most of what @pablodap said. I think the game is too much luck depending. But really a lot of games are and most of them are still fun. As this one is too btw. ;) Another thing I noticed was that the opponent never chose to use the last card (when I didn't have any left) to gain more points by putting it in draw instead of sacrifice. ;) I really liked the graphics of the custom card faces!

And yeah, I also liked playing it anyway and played it quite some times. So good work and keep going! :)

Sacrifice Them by velvetlobster 2018-12-06T02:07:43Z

I really like the art and music of this game! Very beautiful and in a way calming. Interesting contrast to the topic of the game. As said before the game probably needs some more mechanics to be interesting for more than a short amount of time but it is a nice concept so far. I didn't really like that/get why you also get the money when it is falling onto the people you sacrificed!? I would have thought you still need to be on the top of the chain. Like this you can spawn new money and be buried underneath all the bodies. Also interesting metaphor, but would you really get the money then? Oh and the aspect of gaining time when you do sacrifices and being able to sacrifice as much as you want doesn't quite fit. There should either be a limit or some drawback for the sacrifices.

Alpaca's Redemption by Oceanosaurus 2018-12-05T01:29:32Z

Lovely game! I kind of liked everything about this game! I really like your graphics. The tiny feet animation, the cute lama, the nice tile sets you used! ;) Also the levels were very nicely made. Just the right kind of riddles. And we did a platformer with riddles two game jams ago and we kind of failed at that, so I congratulate on findings this kind of balance!

After the last level I wanted to try if it were possible to do all the levels with no ability. Sadly already at level 2, it is not working. I would have actually liked it, if it were possible but just really implausible and difficult...^^ (but maybe it would also make it too easy with the abilities?!?)

Only thing that annoyed me a bit was the collision. As somebody already mentioned, I also died sometimes because of platforms moving through me and then pushing me to my death...

@arnau: I got rid of the jump as the first thing. :D I mean if you have all these amazing abilities who needs to jump?

Throw them down by gankei 2018-12-08T02:06:44Z

Nice game. The 3d graphics didn't quite match the 2d graphics, but I liked both of them, so no real problem there. I think the food level didn't really matter because of all the obstacles where you had to throw down people (food and people were correlated, right?). So that would have been nice to create a more balanced level, where food can become a scarce resource.

Missing Parts by radow 2018-12-04T23:22:23Z

@lereveur Thanks for your nice feedback! :) Have you fixed everything else? And put the battery in the second slot again and seen if the light is still green? There is a very specific way you have to do it to make it work. (and you also have to realize you can get your first arm back...) I wasn't completely happy with how it was done in the end either - as in I think it is a bit too difficult/seemingly random. (before it made more sense, but when we added the graphics it didn't quite give away what we were trying to tell there...)

Tributes of Cronus by philippkick 2018-12-09T19:06:34Z

The game was a bit too hard for me in level two. I got through that point that was mentioned before but then afterwards there is some combination that is just really difficult. And no checkpoint in between. Generally I liked the style you decided for, the combination of having only left, right, jump and dash moves. Nice what can be achieved with them. I didn't get the sacrifices that much though. I got that the bar on the left gets clear, when you do one sacrifice and that means no sudden rays. But I feel like there is no reward for giving more than one of the sacrifices to the same position, because you don't really win time. I would like it, if the bar was moving more slowly if you do that a lot or i don't know... some kind of feedback. ;)

Sacralice by Ectomic 2018-12-05T03:00:19Z

I liked the game a lot. Just came up to level 3 for now and will try again tomorrow... too tired and pushing wrong buttons. ;) But until now, the sacrifices didn't really feel like "sacrifices...

The Shrining by Hunter Towe 2018-12-06T01:42:18Z

Hey. Tried to play your game but the browser build didn't work. Not sure if it is a general problem or not, so maybe you want to have a look at it. ;)

The Shrining by Hunter Towe 2018-12-06T03:05:44Z

Ok, I just forgot to accept cookies. Once I did everything worked. Sooo. now some feedback, eh? ;)

General thing: the theme of the girl having to be rescued is a bit old. And I don't get the wolf with the afro. (is it a racial stereotype? Why not just a wolf?) Also the whole rescue me stuff felt like a trap from the beginning and I think the stay in bed option is actually the best ending! Or is there another one, when you don't give up your legs? Tried not to but thought it didn't work. Hm. I liked the general style of the game. It could have been nice to actually have to pick up your offerings before or have some other mechanic with them which is not only the choice between 3 which you can try as many times as you want. But as it is it is already a nice foundation for something more. ;) The interactions are nice and clear. I am not writing very consistent here, cause I am tired but I wanted to leave you some feedback.

Paper Space Program by Jared York 2018-12-05T02:02:25Z

Hm... I didn't really get what I had to do in the game. I had several of the loads in space and could interact with them but I tried several times and didn't really see the logic behind it. Hmmm... Some explanations how you get the points and what is your job would have been nice! :) I liked the animations of the rocket launching!

Dungeon of Friendship by captainweeaboo 2018-12-08T00:18:16Z

Hey. As someone already mentioned the camera move when you switch direction is too harsh. At first I was really desoriented because of that, but I got used to it in the end. I looked at your game because of the graphics and wasn't disappointed! I like the style and especially the small animations you did. It is nice that all of the characters don't only have a different disappearance but also a specific animation to them! The riddles also work nicely. Reminded me a bit of some really old games with the used mechanisms (opening the door with the plate and stuff like that).

The Moth Shepherd by tozpeak 2018-12-14T00:05:31Z

Hey. I really liked the idea of your game. The sacrifices of the moths, your sacrifice, when you need to go somewhere and can't take the moths. Time/Life being represented by the light/ number of moths... The graphics are just beautiful! The character design reminded me a lot of "night of the rabbit". The backgrounds are a bit simpler of course, but that is to expected on a game jam game. It is really wonderful what you have done with the graphics! I first didn't get that shift actually did something. Because of the picture with the burning (altar?)stone, I thought you could interact with them but I didn't really find any way to interact. Only the saving mechanism and that you need to have at least one moth to make it work. I didn't get that far though, cause some parts were rather difficult to do. The jumping mechanism didn't work that well. The walljump felt pretty clunky. As you were also a moth I had the wish to fly/glide quite a few times... ;) I actually think you could develop something great out of what you have there. I mean it IS already pretty cool. But with a bit more testing and with some more implemented story, it could be awesome. I might play it again, to see if I get past where I got stuck. One last thing: The zooming out, when the character respawns takes quite long. When I was stuck at the same point for some while, it was really annoying to always have to wait so long before trying again. I do hope you get some more ratings for this beautiful game!

The Moth Shepherd by tozpeak 2018-12-14T00:33:48Z

Ok, where I thought "I didn't get that far" was actually near the end. And I could finish it, even though it was more luck, because I nearly died before getting there.

Robo Dungeon by YellowZombie 2018-12-08T01:39:30Z

Nice first game jam game! :) It was definitely fun to play and I liked the music, though it got a bit annoying after a while... Robots are cool! ;) We also used a robot losing its parts in our game. Not sure if the mechanic with the boosters work well. I think it is a lot easier to actually have none, then one and have the (urrrr... you know... change of directions thingy). Also the interaction with the platforms was a bit weird. I could kind of double jump when hitting a platform on the side!? Not sure what you did there but it didn't seem to make sense and also sometimes was difficult to handle when just wanting to jump to one platform and then being propelled further in the air.

Grauby Grauby by Danilo Freire 2018-12-12T02:37:04Z

Nice idea. Sadly from time to time (in WebGL) when I died sometimes my controls didn't work, so I had to reload the page and start from the beginning. As it was, I wasn't motivated enough to get very far. Otherwise cool concept and nice graphics.

For Brain ! by nolifedev 2018-12-06T03:18:59Z

Zoooombies! I really like zombies. I was a bit sad to let so many of them die. But sacrifices must be made, you know.

Ok seriously: nice graphics! For me the puzzles were a bit too easy actually. Would have loved to have more and more difficult ones, but well, already quite nice for a game jam entry. All in all it is a funny and nice game, with cool graphics, motivating music and at least a little bit of a learning curve. If made a longer game, could be probably improved. ;)

@kambing: Actually you could use the movement of the zombies to your advantage so I am not sure if it is completely a bad thing?

A dangerous situation not to wear shoes in by wie_ 2018-12-08T02:45:56Z

Beautiful graphics! One bug(?): if you take the iron in your hands you can't put it down anymore, means when you have iron in the smelter, you lose. Also if you have the iron in your hands the skeletons that come in don't kill you, when they attack you from the front. Maybe cause they attack the iron but it still stays in your hands.

SACRIFEATURE by Thob 2018-12-11T02:01:59Z

Hey. Nice game. Some feedback for next time or something: I would have liked to have a counter of the shot enemies. Especially if you already count them and use them to unlock stuff. Because of the movement of the enemies the balancing was a bit off. There was at least one point where you could just stay "hidden" from them and shoot at them and only very rarely some of them came to you (under the middle bar on the ground). I didn't feel jumping and moving where that important at that point. So if you had more time, I think the different abilities could be balanced a bit better. ;)

Typeless by Naihto 2018-12-05T00:09:27Z

Hmmm... The offering mechanism didn't work in my browser (using firefox...)? Or I did it wrong? Also the Umlaute and stuff (ßöäü) didn't work as offerings, and somebody else mentioned they were possible to use? As it was, it was really difficult to get very far. I got to a happy ending though. Is there another ending or is it always, that she will just leave? Nice concept.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Cramzon Mine by recursor 2018-04-26T19:46:21Z

the difficulty rose pretty fast at some point. so i was still trying just to dig stuff out but than the time wasn't enough - what I want to say is: nice game. nice dynamic and it indeed gets more difficult, so that's good. ;)

Survival Dash by OldPeculier 2018-05-01T19:56:41Z

Second time I played this. The first time I didn't get very far but now I took some time to understand the crafting and everything. Once it's understood it's really nice and I was definitively hooked. I think the icons are indeed a bit unclear with this graphic. It is alright but I guess it would be easier/nicer if they were easy to understand. The music was first really nice but then got on my nerves. Nice entry and I had fun playing it!

Harvest Doom by Fiote 2018-04-24T23:30:28Z

Nice game. I tried several times to build the last tower but that took a bit long. Gets annoying all that farming at some point but generally really cool. Beautiful art, nice atmosphere and the waves work well! (I know this can be tricky to develop.)

Travis Beacon Teaches Fighting by niksg 2018-04-24T03:32:59Z

Enjoyed playing it. And yeah, the third one was too difficult for me. If I knew how to type completely without looking it might work, but without that ability... not possible! ;)

TinyWorlds by dikkop 2018-04-26T20:18:40Z

Nice game! The idea with the gravitational fields is really nice. Haven't read before playing and just saw now that you can change the world to shoot from... Probably cool, but I liked the challenge without it as well.

Submerge by ectucker1 2018-04-26T19:15:00Z

Haha, knowing that you can move made it a lot easier. First I tried it without and that was definitley more difficult. Nice game overall. Nice atmosphere, nice sounds, pretty easy bosses as some already mentioned. The amount of enemies on the screen does a huge difference for the difficulty.

Armagedunk by videodog 2018-04-26T00:55:24Z

The steahlth mechanic didn't work that well, I think, as the bar was raised really slow and you could get away with a lot. But that's fine, I guess that still took quite some work to get that done ;) And I really liked the effort put into the background story. The largest one I have seen untill now around here!

The Mad Tea Party - A Card and Run Game by Tiberius 2018-04-25T22:18:32Z

@crazyhomeboys Thanks! Which was the second one? I´d love to give it a try as well!

Band Battle Fantasy - A Turn-Based Rhythm Game by MartinTristan 2018-04-26T00:25:26Z

I am a big final fantasy fan so I was totally here for that. As someone already said, at this stage the mechanics do not feel much like turn based rpg but the idea is nice. Also nice music ;) And I totally failed! ^^

Card Cave Adventures by Swen 2018-04-24T16:59:42Z

Really likes the game. For the slowness of the game: I think you managed quite well. We tried a card game jump n run and it definitely feels a lot slower than this one! There is always a bit more strategy when you pülay with cards, but it's nice how you solved that. Especially liked the way you could use the spikes and the enemy movement. ;)

Vampire's Paper Route by SerpentWorks Games 2018-04-27T23:20:04Z

Hey Nice concept. I didn't really get what advantages talking to people and sucking their blood brings... And I think the stats don't change, when you buy the sun and shadow enhancer thing.

Farm Punch by Sengi 2018-04-24T16:07:39Z

cute minigame! nice graphics and interesting concept. i beat the worm once but then the game lost it's novelty for me. there is nothing new happening after feeding the worm, right? or is there any way to interact with the filled baskets?

Stomp - A game that covers half of the theme! by ZEST_is_BEST 2018-04-25T23:24:03Z

Only played once but got 177.247. I might have survived longer by running in circles but that seemed a bit pointless. I really liked the spider graphics. Right now it feels as though there is no real objective. So maybe in multiplayer it would be better. ;)

Crash to the Past by UntitledQ 2018-04-24T16:30:32Z

Wow! I loved it! Really fun game. One thing: you could be fired by a cannon over the edge of the playable area and float in space indefinitly.

The Colossal Carrot Caper by rush 2018-04-24T02:58:55Z

Like so many already said, this game is really cute and just very beautiful graphics! The sync is off so I felt it was easier to just try matching to the dots. Which was sad, because of the great music!

Stardust by Linkwin 2018-04-26T00:38:13Z

Really, really beautiful graphics and sounds (You chose them well, they create a very nice atmosphere)!

Puzzle Invasion! by EstacaoMarte 2018-04-27T23:39:40Z

nice game. the music is pretty nice and fun and I like the concept. It would be pretty cool to have a high score list for a game like this ;)

Helsing by davidsheadgames 2018-04-25T23:40:27Z

Nice work! Also nice to play through. Not too difficult but in a good way! ;) I liked the graphics and the sounds. The last bit was a bit too heavy for me (as in the sounds and the general atmosphere) but I guess that was also planned!?

Tempo Step by AdVd 2018-04-26T19:32:11Z

nice! though I didn't catch the tunes. what kind of tunes are these? (classical, pop, hymns....?)

Prison Cat by figrita 2018-04-24T03:54:17Z

Same here about this playing longer than I ought to... It was fun! But when you play multiple rounds you can't buy these things anew.
