I counldn't launch the game on my Windows 8.1... Can yo utry a WebGL version ?
@redunca Will try. Do you want to let me know more about your issue? Is it windows saying this app is untrusted?
Nice! Too bad there were no sound effects or music, that could have made me want to play more
The kind of game you can't stop to "play one more time". Nice work !
Good, clean mechanic on theme. I like the style of the cards, but I would argue not making maul the strongest
@madrededios Yes, but that's not what blocked me (seriously, every download is untrusted these days)
The game launch with a background processs but then never show itself... I've had two precesses running of the game but nothing showed up :sob:
@redunca That's so strange! And sad... I do not own a Win8 machine so I can't tell you if this is a compatibility issue... Will do my best to get a WebGL version running!
I like the game mechanics, it's really simple yet addictive. Also there is a nice card faces style
@redunca You should now be able to play the game in your browser! I'm glad you asked for it, that gave me a good reason to do it!
Even if didnt understand everything the game is simple , short , and addictive.
But...why overwatch font ?
@semichaut Well... Because I had the ttf file in my Downloads folder... Yep, no particular reason. The **How To Play** section can help you if you wanna learn more about the game but as you said it's very simple!
Nice card game. I like it.
Best game for coffee break :) I like it
Very cool game. I really love cards games and this one really got my attention. Good job
Nice game, realy addictive, it's simple but it works very well. Good job :v:
Played it around an hour i like cards idk why
I like the concept, better version of War IMO. Felt a little one sided if that makes sense. I think theres room for a gameplay penalty for sacrificing. not sure.
Now that i've played, I can say it's a great game ! The length of a play is just right, and the strategy needed to sacrifice cards correctly is just fine. Overall I'm really pleased than @madrededios uploaded a web version so I could enjoy this game too !
Really interesting mechanic for a card game. I think if the game had some card with some extra effects rather than scoring points it would be much more strategic, but really cool anyways. Good job!
It's addictive, I'll give you that, and there's a good base from which to improve. However, in the state that it is I think it's too random and luck dependant, you either stomp or get stomped. The player usually has to blindly bid and open themselves to get beaten, and if you get a bad hand you can't beat the opponent even if you see his bid first.
It doesn't make much sense to me to openly bid in turns, as the players can react to what has been played, but not in an interesting way, as the hands are completely random and there's little strategy about how you manage your hand. The only managing I found was from sacrificing a card or not, wich I liked and is usually required to get more cards, but you can just get 2 bad cards from that and the enemy can get 2 really good ones and keep upbidding. Bidding for the discard pile is a neat idea, and it's open to strategize that if you see your enemy play a card you can beat you can leave a higher card in your hand, sacrifice another card just to boost the reward and then beat that card. But it wasn't because you played better, you just got a higher number.
I'd recommend maybe starting with a bit more cards and of the same values, so the beginning is more balanced. And maybe instead of bidding after the discard and the other card, bid after something else.
Also, card drawing is kinda inconsistent. You draw 2 cards if you sacrifice another card (which I really really like that mechanic) but only draw a card from the deck if you don't have cards left. Drawing 2 cards usually unbalances the card count, as one player can start sacrificing and growing every round while the other struggles. I'd make that each player gets a new card at the beginning of the round consistently.
Maybe a fix to the unbalance is: -You start with 2-3 cards and get a new one when the new round starts.
-If you sacrifice you only get 1 new card, but you can play around that. If you think you're going to lose a bid you can try to sacrifice a low card (increasing the score you give to your opponent) to try to get a higher card and win the bid.
-Maybe always draw a card from the deck to start the discard prize (and keep player's discards hidden until the bid is resolved).
-Perhaps having 2 sets of the same values ranging from 1 to 11, so the unbalance is not as high. (If there's a draw, nobody gets the discard).
Designing a card came is really hard, and making it balanced even more. Keep working on it and good luck!
Cool game ! caught myself playing it like 10 times ! (Fucking bot is frustrating)
@pablodap Thank you so, so much for your very interesting comment. It is indeed quite hard to make it balance, and what you propose would definitely make it much more interesting. I'll keep trying to add to that mechanic! Really glad you like the sacrifice mechanic and I'll make sure to keep that as the one core mechanic. Many thanks again!
Fun game, though as others have stated, I wish that luck was less of a factor (although I realize that's hard to do in a card game). The card drawings were fantastic.
BRUH THE BOT'S LUCK IS INSANE.. Took me like 5 times till I finally won the bot xD
Honestly, this game is really addictive and I could see myself pay for this if it had an multiplayer option, more balancing and stuff..
But for an ludum dare this is insanely good! Easily the best one and the most fun one seen in this ludum dare so far..!
Fit's the theme perfectly and it was fun to play even against a bot :)
You made a super nice game, congratulations from me, just for making me pleased and truly enjoy a ludum dare game :) Even though it's a quite basic card game, it is AWESOME!
Really like the concept. Might even play it in real life with friends.
I had things to say about this game, but then I saw that @pablodap did it, and in a better way that I could, so I just +1 his comment, and just say to you : well done, keep the good work, besides some lacks I did like playing it. And would give a try to an enhanced version for sure. ;)
I also want to agree with most of what @pablodap said. I think the game is too much luck depending. But really a lot of games are and most of them are still fun. As this one is too btw. ;) Another thing I noticed was that the opponent never chose to use the last card (when I didn't have any left) to gain more points by putting it in draw instead of sacrifice. ;) I really liked the graphics of the custom card faces!
And yeah, I also liked playing it anyway and played it quite some times. So good work and keep going! :)
I like the idea of sacrificing cards, but I feel it could have been expanded to have more choice: The player will always sacrfice 1's instead of 18's. I feel like some other bonuses or consequences associated with sacrficing would make it more than just luck ( as sacrficing seems mandatory to get cards)
Nice game ! Need to read the rules a few times but i finaly won a round ! I enjoyed the game Special mention to the card #15 The Devil
A pretty fun little card game. I would liked more cards, and perhaps a bit more game mechanics. Overall a fine LD game.
Interesting enough card game, I know faced with a similar casino. By the way, I also advise fans to look there, you can look at the reviewer https://casinoscanada.reviews/en/1-deposit-casinos-canada/ to understand where and how to play, I just moved from there to such games. And now, finding the best $1 deposit casinos in Canada I enjoy the games and at the same time I win a good amount every day
