LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Morbid adventurer by PancakeFriday 2018-12-05T09:48:41Z

Great interpretation of the theme. I don't know how huge the map is, but maybe only lose one heart instead of insta death? Is there an end to the game? With some kind of reward for the one who gets there? Please tell me when it's reached :p

At some point, the music stopped (I was in front of a door, but didn't get too close to it ; I wanted to check all the paths first), too bad cause it was cute.

Good job on this one!

Morbid adventurer by PancakeFriday 2018-12-05T10:01:41Z

@pancakefriday that's true, but then that means that the time actually played will be shorter and shorter compared to the time spent wandering around. Yet it's exciting to find dead corpses and read their notes :D

Rogues Like Beer by NickZangus 2018-12-05T13:37:24Z

I loved it! The mechanics are great ; music, visuals and humor serve each other in a perfect way.

There are a few bugs with physics, the worst one being that it seems that I can't pick up the tables a second time in the last level, so I had to restart multiple times.

Last thing (that's very minor), I play with an AZERTY keyboard, and was happy to see that you used Unity InputManager, but once in the game, I couldn't use any rebinded key (Z nor W). Did you do something like *if (Input.getAxis("Vertical") != 0 && Input.GetKeyDown("W")) {}*

instead of

*if (Input.getAxis("Vertical") > 0) {}*

?

Rogues Like Beer by NickZangus 2018-12-05T13:53:19Z

@nickzangus Haha game was so awesome that I can't be mad at you for such a detail

Sacriparty by RafaelSPBarbosa 2018-12-03T21:13:39Z

It was a nice little game, but maybe too short/easy... I loved the animations / effects during the sacrifice ! Nice work.

Sinking Boat by ohyhei 2018-12-20T10:14:54Z

@ohyhei Edit : web link is fixed

It's a nice game, easy to understand. The game is really hard: I gave up after 5 trys, and couldn't make it to the end, even by throwing all the chests at the beginning (150m too short). Maybe it could be a little easier, so the objective is to try to keep more chests rather than trying to make it to end.

Great job on the audio, it adds a lot to the mood!

Working Overtime by kbf123 2018-12-03T17:07:44Z

I needed a second try to make it, because I didn't understand that I could actually work! Great game, great graphics !

SATIATE! by Secretmapper 2018-12-03T12:36:51Z

Took me 2 failed attempts (~20 seconds) to fully understand the game mechanics, but it was worth it ! The game is really fun and well polished ! Good job !

Tama Gone Wrong by Lucien Catonnet 2018-12-07T14:39:39Z

I enjoyed your game! Graphics are perfect for the genre and music is great.

Just an idea: I think you could make the animations more gore and longer to be more unpleasant, then come back to the happy cute music.

Nice game!

C'est la vie by MrJackhpil 2018-12-04T13:50:01Z

Nice game ! Well I don't especially want to kill flowers and butterflies, but I do it only to hear the "pfrrrrt oooow"

Awkward situation or Vegan Fox should catch chickens otherwise he will be caught by kovareka 2018-12-04T14:14:22Z

Stranger by salyon 2018-12-04T19:31:13Z

Loved the game mechanics ! Great art too ! Too bad there is no music :(

Blood Money by Baconinvader 2018-12-18T11:01:53Z

I would say that overall, the game would need to be a little more polished to be correctly enjoyable. There are very good ideas! Nice work.

Mount 'n' Glory: A Glorious Grail Quest by gamesplusjames 2018-12-04T14:42:18Z

Humor: 0, some people love Michael Jackson you know... Just joking, and +1 for A Perfect Circle reference!

I absolutly loved it, gameplay, humor, your interpretation of the theme, all perfect. Music could have been a little less repetitive though. Great work !

Just to let you know, in level 13, if you jump from the top platform, you go through the ground.

Doom Trails by kamikaziuk 2018-12-10T11:53:26Z

You have a solid basis, now it should be "easy" to add content and make it interresting . I think if you focus on the theme (which is not currently very well respresented: randomly killed pawns is not really sacrifice) it could become very fun.

Nevertheless, if you managed to do that in 10 hours as you say, it's very impressive (espacially the visuals).

If you improve it, please let me know!

The kind of game you can't stop to "play one more time". Nice work !

We Fight "Together"! by StratosKakalis 2018-12-11T23:14:27Z

Very nice game, that's a fun idea you got there. As a lot of people told you already, it quickly becomes repetitive (but that's ok for a jam), so you should first add something like the possibility to buy canons or improve existing ones.

Random idea (it's funny in my head, but I don't know if it's viable in a game): it would be fun if the player was the sergent and could give orders to the soldiers like "you, pick up this guy and bring him to the canon, he's next.", keeping their "everything's perfectly normal" attitude.

Obviously, multiplayer is possible and would be great too!

Hope you create something great, the potential is there :)

Edit : I forgot to report: the first step of the stairs blocks the player (at least when carrying another guy), so it's required to jump.

BlobSacrificator by Sarwin 2018-12-03T12:03:16Z

I would say that it is a good basis to start something, but there are some "little details" that need to be fixed first (most importantly the camera).

I liked the visual !

Silvercliff Killings by spierek 2018-12-04T12:16:17Z

@spierek Edit : web version works fine now !

The only "bad point" is that it is not-so-innovative, but you already warned me in the description! Apart of that, it's very good, it's replayable, visuals and audio are a perfect match. Great work!

Space Virgins... In Space by FussenKuh 2018-12-03T04:15:31Z

"Let's find all voice-made sounds in the game !" Apart of that, that's very good, I enjoyed the gameplay, and the design and music are nice!

Space Virgins... In Space by FussenKuh 2018-12-03T14:51:28Z

@fussenkuh Just to be clear: voice sounds are awesome, and "apart of that", the game is 'only' very good ! I finished the game because it was fun, but I started over and over trying to find all the voice sounds ;)

M-ss-ng Ch-r-cters by ConnorThompson 2018-12-03T11:02:22Z

Exactly my thought : the correct answer should be shown. As a non native-speaker, I need to know if the word was part of my vocabulary or not (you know, to give myself good reasons to fail :p )

Otherwise, I loved it for its simplicity. Such simple mechanics in a smooth ui, I call genius.

Death Wish by Derek Volker 2018-12-06T10:06:52Z

Good arcade game! It could be a little smoother between moving and hitting (you know, music tells us to go fast, but it feels like we are somehow too slow...). Beautiful visuals and animations. Great job!

Great game ! Made it with 20 followers !

Offshoot by Owen Rees 2018-12-03T20:58:41Z

Nice game ! Simple and fun.

The weapons should all be equally interesting to create multiple ways to solve the game (the minigun makes it so easy that I would never have sacrificed it, while the big green stuff has always been my first sacrifice).

There is still a problem to finish the 4th level if you keep a leg-weapon: you can't go over the two enememies at the top of the level, so you can't kill them.

Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun ! Nice work !

Balloon Dum Dare by Evanaellio 2018-12-09T21:59:36Z

I really enjoyed the game mechanics in this one. It was simple but with such basic mechanics, you have the ability to create a lot of different levels. And sounds tell us that you had fun doing it too :)

Expendibots by pandan 2018-12-03T03:30:34Z

I tried multiple times, cause it looks very nice (graphics, music, concept), but I think the camera controls were my worst enemies in this game ! I only played in browser, maybe that's it?

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-03T16:39:39Z

Thank you for your (mostly) positive feedback everybody! There is nothing you said that I don't agree with... I will keep that in mind for the next event ;)

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-03T16:41:22Z

@dk5000p I confirm there is no winning to the game, the objective being to go as far as you can by collecting fuel. The only technical limit is the car health, that you need to decrease at each wave (so max 50 waves), but I myself couldn't pass more than 15 waves (not sure it was in the final version though)

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-04T21:48:44Z

@yyam Thanks for the comment ! Damn is this bug still there..? I got it once and thought I had fixed it but apparently I failed... Sorry !

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-05T00:34:02Z

Wow that's a huge compliment @rapyo! Thank you soooo much! So happy you enjoyed it!

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-05T10:14:53Z

@pancakefriday I think my biggest mistake was to put the main objective aside, and that like you, most people don't understand why they should keep the fuel. The real and only objective for the player is to go as far as possible (there is a very badly drawn icon in the top left corner of the screen during the wave part to tell you how far you traveled). At each wave, Toby brings back some fuel, and the amount you decide to keep will be automatically transformed into "traveled miles" before the beginning of the next wave.

Thank you for your review!

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-05T10:36:45Z

@pancakefriday that's a good idea! My first idea was to have a black screen with a small dialog like in the intro, but with the constraint that some people might have died. I was too short on time to do it, but if I decide to keep improving the game, it's definitly something I will add!

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-06T06:09:53Z

@mike-inprinciple Bad for me yes! If you still want to give it another try, you only need, in the "Car" panel, to "let" (abandon) resources so that food + fuel is lower than your storage capacity (icon with 3 boxes on the right). Another possibility is to sacrifice people to increase your storage capacity. Then a button "Continue" appear and you can go to the next wave. Sorry for bad ui :(

@deathray also in the "Car" panel, the first line indicates what the dog brings to the car (food and fuel), which are automatically put in the car. the food is lost when you feed people, and the fuel is lost between each wave, transformed in "traveled miles".

Thanks for the reviews!

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-06T11:09:51Z

@bradur Thanks for the feedback! That's a good point about the audio, and I regret so much to not have included the possibility to balance it ingame, or at least set the sound effects at a lower volume by default... Well, that's an error I won't do next time :p

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-06T16:40:45Z

@derek-volker thank you for the review and the bug report. I will fix it right now!

Graphics are indeed my weak point, and I am absolutly not satisfied with it (especially the background in the shooter part), but unfortunatly couldn't do better during the jam. If I decide to push the game further, it is something I want to improve. Thanks again, hoped you had fun!

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-07T13:53:59Z

@awix An interesting game with a kind of mechanics. I put a rating) Please rating and me, thanks in advance)

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-13T15:59:36Z

@mrspeaker wow that's a very nice comment! Thank you! I decided to keep improving it and thought about adding a playable part for the road trip. Hopefully, your wish will come true

Human Meat Is Very Nourishing by Rolly 2018-12-28T17:16:05Z

@limnori thanks for the feedback!

For the anecdote, the background image is the last thing I did before going to sleep at mid-term; it took me about half an hour to do it, and after seeing the result, I got a big loss of motivation and didn't want to lose more time trying to make decent backgrounds... But yeah, the initial idea was to have different backgrounds to show movement and evolution between waves!

As for the missing animations and sounds for people death, car taking damages and explosion, I have no excuse, as I submitted my entry 2 hours before the deadline. I guess I just "forgot" to do it (or really needed some sleep).

Thanks again, glad you had fun!

Betsys Nightmare - LD43 by trafficjam 2018-12-07T07:56:36Z

I didn't manage to kill one single cow... Did I miss something or is it really hard?

I like the fact that it's complete (you did music, visuals, little intro) so it looks pretty consistent. A few more hours spent to polish would have made it even better. Good job!

Hope you had fun anyway and that you will have better luck with your initial project next time ;)

Battle of the Occultists by SlizzBen 2018-12-03T10:37:37Z

Really interresting game, great mechanics and I like the visual ; A little frustrating to start over when you lose, especially when it's because you forgot to use all your AP (I spent a few turns without noticing that it increased). Maybe you should add a "Restart level" button.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Once Upon A Plague by icxon 2019-05-09T07:07:52Z

Great game!

Only bad point is the controls, unselecting the character when you tell him to move was counter-intuitive at first, then you get used to it. Selecting a character serves two purposes: to slow time down and to control the character; I guess that's why you chose that behaviour. Maybe keep the character selected but slowly increase time back to normal would be more intuitive tho.

In my opinion, balance was good. First time, I failed after buying the incinerator, which didn't convince me at all, but on my second try, having to manage a squad of 2 canons placed strategically and roaming around with the squad of 2 repeaters in the last level was pretty exciting!

Graphics are both beautiful and impressive! Music is discreet but works perfectly for the mood.

Sigilite by Chilleh 2019-04-29T16:38:09Z

That's a good prototype. The camera can be a little buggy around walls, but that's still impressive to accomplish a 3D game like this one in 48(?) hours.

I want you to know that the character's right foot is very scary.

Nice work.

Bullet Vomit by Xeke-Death 2019-04-30T12:32:13Z

I'm always impressed to see games that are gorgeous with very simple sprites, and you just made one. Animations are a delight. So clean and sober, perfect.

So sad that there is no sound...

Nice work!

No Pain, No Gain by PixelMonkey 2019-04-29T10:50:57Z

That's a very nice game! The idea is really interesting. If I had to find something, I would say that when going to the next level, feedback to the player should be different than when you die. Took me some times to understand if I won or lost.

Great work!

Choice of Life by victorcrafty 2019-04-29T15:36:23Z

That was very nice! Combat system could be improved but your concept is great.

I liked the fact that walls disappear fade out when you move behind it when you could have made it a collider. It's a small thing but that's the kind of stuff that contributes to get the "well-polished" feeling.

Great work!

The Demons Deal by Bluwind360 2019-05-07T15:57:39Z

"The graphics are not pretty and the gameplay sucks" dude calm down, graphics are more than ok for a jam and gameplay is simple but it works. You submitted an entry after 2 weeks in Unity dev, and for that you should be proud of yourself! Nice work ;)

I had to check twice that it was a compo game. Your 3D models & animations are impressive. The universe is very consitent, even the fleeing fish AI looks natural. It only missed a "Omnomnomnomnom" sfx...

Great work!

My first LD Game: Mutant Lemonade Stand by leary93 2019-04-29T11:13:42Z

First of all: nice job for your first entry!

I think you should complete the desription here for people to understand your game (otherwise your "important notes" only create more confusion).

The music was actually very nice and fits the game.

Nice work :)

TimeForYourSouls by Suchista 2019-04-29T17:08:53Z

The mechanic in this game is very enjoyable. And music fits perfectly.

I would change the lever activation with a key rather than depending on the character's movement. The game is already hard enough and failing because you move a little to close to a lever is frustrating.

Also, a retry button would be great, since the music pushes you to play fast, it's breaking the pace when you have to wait because you know you can't win.

Last thing, I couldn't make it to the end because the game was becoming very laggy (I confess I had to try many times the level with 2 levers and 3 platforms). Maybe some resources could be released between levels?

Hope you continue to improve this game, it got a lot of potential!

@victorcrafty Thanks for your review. The game was a lot easier in my head when I imagined it 60hours ago...

Maintenance Costs by Rolly 2019-04-30T01:03:02Z

@itsduckyyyy I'm sooo happy to read that someone loved my game  ! Indeed, the theme didn't really inspire me at first, so I started with a concept I had wanted to implement for a while, and added the maintenance part over it as an attempt to match the theme. With more time, I'd have tried to create more levels in which you need to think further to destroy your robots. Thanks for review!

Maintenance Costs by Rolly 2019-04-30T14:23:46Z

@toasteater I completely understand how you feel, I am myself annoyed that it turned out to be frustrating because of the difficulty. I think that my attempt to stick with the theme was a bad idea, and finished with constraints that are not working with the genre; if I could do it over again, I would accept a 1-star rating for the theme but make something that is more enjoyable. Anyway, thanks for your review, and I hope that you still had some fun with it :)

Debtors' Arena by AceArcher 2019-05-18T19:57:06Z

Overall a nice entry, with beautiful visuals and convincing animations (maybe speed up 1.5x). The music you chose fits the game correctly.

However, I would have prefered less content (only barehands or sword fights) but more polish. For instance, having control over the camera rotation would have changed the gameplay a lot . In its current state, it felt more like I went straight to the enemy and won the fight only because my weapon did more damage.

Anyway, good job :)

Blood Worm by Pedro Moreira 2019-04-30T16:03:20Z

Interesting mechanics. There is room for improvement in jumps and movement stuff, but that's a nice start. Congrats on fluid management (I have no idea on how I could implement that). Nice work!

Cowry - A game about change by johanhelsing 2019-05-01T15:03:40Z

That was weird in a good way :) I totally wanted more. Visuals are ok and ambiance music fits correctly. That was unusual and pleasant. Thank you!

The strange Life of Bill the postman by T-Bo 2019-05-06T21:23:15Z

Simple mechanics, but well-polished! I think you just got one of my highest "mood" rating, since it felt very relaxing and audio and graphics reinforce each other effectively.

Was the music composed for the game during the jam? If so, congrats, that's totally a 5-star!

It was a pleasure to play your game :) Nice work!

MoneyBag by Chameleon 2019-04-29T16:22:12Z

Congratulations for your first entry.

I would have enjoyed some more levels. The concept is nice and it is visually pleasant (especially MoneyBag, absolutly love him with his little hat). If next time, you have time to create a music, it really helps to give a great mood to your game.

Nice work :)

Behind Your Light by Cem Adiloglu 2019-04-30T10:25:50Z

Brilliant concept! You opt-out from audio and graphics, but good job on finding the ones that fit your game perfectly.

My only frustration comes from the doors because the transitions happen as soon as you are in front of the door, and it didn't feel right. Sometimes I only wanted to follow the wall, and got surprised of appearing in another room and take unecesseary damage.

Great game!

Designated Victim by toasteater 2019-04-30T14:36:00Z

Waw, what a nice entry. I am honestly impressed by every single detail in this game: gameplay, visuals, audio, prologue, everything. Nothing much to say, great work!

Mortal: the fate of cells by pwroff 2019-04-29T15:54:03Z

What a nice little entry! There is obviously potential to expend it to a great complete game, with new cell types, new levels, more challenge!

Visuals were great, my only regret being that it misses a soundtrack that would create a great mood.

I'm happy that your wife pushed you to complete this entry! :D

The Bloody Merchant by Lombax 2019-04-30T14:47:32Z

Your game seems well polished, with a lot of effort on details (I absolutly loved the score animation). There is not much challenge in it (lack of time I guess) but you can definitly be proud of your work for a first attempt!

utsvulten by ditto 2019-04-29T15:08:26Z

Concept is unwholesome. Audio is unwholesome. Visual is unwholesome. I loved it. Congrats.

Buried Things by Skyeward 2019-10-08T12:24:33Z

Great pixel art! The introduction was hilarious! I found everything, but it was somehow sad that there was no ending.

The little puzzles are nice, some more difficult than others (I digged all the morse code before I understood it was actually morse code. Yeah, 62 not so wise. But seriously, morse code?? x) )

I had a lot of fun with this one, great entry!

Robot Trial by GlacierEclipse 2019-10-08T06:38:00Z

Your game mechanic is very fun.

I read your page but once in game, I didn't remember that I could press U to open an Upgrade panel, so at first I had a really hard time and I wondered what was the "scrap" for. Then I remembered and everything made so much sense, I actually began to see the fun and understand why some tiles highlighted... I'm not sure it was intended that the upgrades were kept from one try to another, but it was nice to have that!

I'm not sure the jump line and the jetpack bar should be upgrades, since it really plays on the first impression. Or maybe it should be explicit that it exists but you need to upgrade for that. Maybe that's all part of further polishing.

I had fun, nice entry!

Ultra Quest by 100th_Coin 2019-10-08T09:35:47Z

This game is visually awesome. Audio is nice too and fits correctly the game. My only complaint would be a missing "initiate jump" animation, or the speed of the character doing it (I'm not sure, but something felt wrong), but it was overall a great experience. Great entry!

DesertTamer by svyatozar 2019-10-07T09:54:07Z

I was so hyped by the intro (even with that drawings; "as long as we understand what it is..."), it's so sad you couldn't get any gameplay. Please notify me if you add some, I'd like to see a little more.

Music was very nice.

Real-time Gardener by sebastianscaini 2019-10-07T15:03:32Z

I can see from your printscreens that you couldn't stand the continuous "ouuuh" either x). Too bad, I'd like to apreciate the music which seems to be nice. I will let the game go for a few hours and come back to rate then.

Eventualities by Human Writes Code 2019-10-07T11:46:20Z

That's such a great concept! The story was quite interresting, and you can definitly feel the "passive aggressive"ness.

Visuals and sounds are simple but very well done! Music could have been a little louder.

The problem with that kind of game is that it needs a lot of content to make it feel like we are never repeating ourselves. Getting back to the "so... nothing?" seemed sometimes out of topic. Do you plan on adding more content after the jam?

At first, the delay between answers helps the mood, but when we want to get through the tree again to explore another part, it takes too much time... Maybe it should get faster after a while. I gave up with a 4/6 solution, but I had a good experience!

Nice entry!

@human-writes-code Haha, I feel you! Let's just be glad that there is no "Code quality" rating category! x)

0-Skies : A Minute's Adventure by Karanveer 2019-10-08T14:34:41Z

That's some serious challenge to start your first LD with a 3D game! :D This was well executed, and while the physics could be improved, you definitely got something convincing. I could also imagine multiple paths so the player can create his plane in different ways, with different parts giving their own bonuses, but I'm getting out of the possible scope for a jam...

Nice entry!

Dungeon Miner by Monado 2019-10-08T09:24:22Z

This is pretty decent game, with a lot of content for game jam! Visuals are nice (did you do the title image? It's awesome!).

Some features were counter-intuitive, like going through the menu to be able to craft. Also, the character should keep its position and not always face down when we stop moving, it made the battles very difficult.

Nice entry!

Yogurt's Quest by Aurailus 2019-10-07T10:14:15Z

I finally made it, after I don't know how many deaths. :D What was the purpose of the first part of the game, an unfinished introduction I guess? I must say, the visals were so gorgeous that I could almost hear the melancolic piano music and a deep voice telling a sad story while I was floating in the void.

The platform part was well executed, it felt very robust and polished. My only complaint would be that the inertia following the movement is a bit too much in a game where you need to make precise jumps (or maybe I'm just really bad at platform games).

Great entry!

EDIT: I guess you already know it, but sounds and music could have added soooo much to the mood of your game. I think devoting some time of your jam - even 1 hour - adding some sfx, is totally worth it!

Monochromacy by ItsHornUnicorn 2019-10-07T12:01:50Z

The idea is brilliant, and the game is visually very pleasant. The physics could be improved (jumping against a wall to reach the top kinda felt like cheating...), and how to start entering the digital code should be explained.

I think you got a nice basis for a good game with great mechanics. I wish there were more levels to play!

Nice entry!

We have Nothing! by mira 2019-10-07T13:19:16Z

That's some solid entry for a first time! I absolutly loved the gameplay mechanics and humor you put in your game! The music is discreet and fits the game very well. Last level was challenging without giving an headache, so it was just fine! I wish there were more levels!

+1 for the breathing animation you made for a white square

Egg Problem by Bry 2019-10-07T10:51:06Z

I did it!

egg_problem.png

It was a very fun game, classic but well executed. I didn't realize at first that I could move birds (yeah it's written but I didn't read till the end, I'm such a lambda-user...).

It could use some more balancing (the white bird is so powerful that the last five waves are just "sit and watch").

Visuals and sound effects are sober and efficient! I had a great time, thank you!

Reconcile by SuperLee 2019-10-07T12:42:59Z

Sorry, I just can't win your game... I even managed to have the black part full and the white part completly empty, but I can't get both full at the same time...

Anyway, that's a nice concept, efficient thanks to its simplicity! The music is nice but there should be more variations to it (especially for people like me who need a lot of time :p). I think the border of the white should be white too, so we can have a better understanding of where the collision box is for each color.

Nice entry!

NoControl by simXple 2019-10-07T12:58:53Z

Haha, I couldn't be the only one with this interpretation of the theme ;)

First, let me join kuviman's comment, clicking an "install" button felt very wrong. It's done with Unity, it's so simple to create a WebGL version, and you would make everybody happy! ;)

It was a very fun game, the character was so cute and the animations felt real smooth. It's just sad that there was no audio. But if it's your very first game, congrats, you made something very enjoyable!

Nice entry!

NoControl by simXple 2019-10-07T13:48:32Z

@simxple the problem is installing, not downloading. Many people give an executable that you have to download, but that launchs the game directly. If you want, there's nothing wrong to add a web version now for this LD. I'm afraid you could lose many players if you only propose this solution. It's up to you! :)

NoControl by simXple 2019-10-07T14:06:06Z

@simxple You made me doubt, so I checked the rules again, and, I quote: "Porting (especially to Web or Windows) can happen after the initial 48 hours. The longer you wait though, the less time participants will have to play your game." So yeah, feel free to do it! ;)

A Field of Flowers by KeithSwanger 2019-10-08T09:51:00Z

It's great to have a relaxing game once in a while. Music and visuals are awesome and work perfectly together to build this relaxing mood. I think I filled half the terrain before I stopped. Is there an ending?

Great entry!

Floating Forest by PythooonUser 2019-10-07T20:12:22Z

What would be the purpose of your game? It looks nice, but it indeed misses some kind of objective. That's actually not bad for 12 hours of work!

You even added the escape key to exit the game, which is nice! :D

Collecting Parts by LegendaryHippo 2019-10-07T13:43:30Z

Your game is so gorgeous. Visuals and animations look very polished, and the sound effects fit perfectly. I could have imagined a nice arcade music with it, it would definitly have improved the overall mood!

Apart from the bullet destroying the finish point bug, I also had the stone sticked to the wall. I don't know if it's intended or not, but it made the wall jumping so hard that I had to start again from the beginning.

I had fun, nice entry!

The Darkness by Iconocatstudio 2019-10-07T09:39:26Z

That's a nice idea! The sounds and visuals work perfectly together. I didn't meet any enemy except the static ones, and they didn't do any harm. So that was more like decoration improving the mood.

The minimalistic game over screen made me laugh :D

Eggcelerate by TimBeaudet 2020-04-20T18:30:21Z

It was very fun to play! I love your interpretation of the theme. Very well executed. Great entry !

Dorfromantik by yazara 2020-04-24T11:22:57Z

Definitely the best visuals I've seen in this jam, probably in any jam ! Good job on that. It's really sad that there is no relaxing music included in the game to create an awesome mood.

The game mechanics are quite simple yet kept me focused and wanting to continue!

I wish the todo's got more difficult sooner in the game. At some point I just decided to focus on building a beautiful scenery rather than going for the objectives until I eventually lost. A finish screen would have been nice!

I can't really see any connexion with the theme. Did you decide to put it aside or do you have an interpretation of it that I'm missing?

Thanks for the experience, great entry !

Dorfromantik by yazara 2020-04-25T12:29:05Z

@yazara Ok thanks for the explaination. I'm glad that you didn't try too hard to stick to the theme ; I did that once and it became a game mechanic totally out of place. Your game is really great as is, and who cares about the theme when in the end you created such a great product. I now follow you, please let us know if you keep working on this game, I would definitely want to see more of it!

Filicide by Artylo 2020-04-20T14:21:29Z

I wish I hadn't read your devlog about bullets killing enemies offscreen ; maybe I wouldn't have noticed and the experience would have been better. Once you know that, it sadly becomes very simple.

The visuals are pretty nice, but I would have gone more easily on the screen effects and shakes, it hurts the brain after a while :p

Music is nice and could have been a little louder.

Nicely done!

A Cold Walk Home by Stefanie Leitch 2020-04-21T08:58:37Z

That's an impressive amount of content for a game jam! Everything seems to work very well, but I must admit that I had to come back to your ld page after a few attempts to make sure that I actually had to fight the boar ; as said before it probably had to many health points.

The stroyline really adds a lot to the game. The visuals are correct and I enjoyed your attention for details (come on, footsteps!). The music is nice and works well!

Great entry!

Slime Knights by Kittennation 2020-04-21T13:08:27Z

As said before, there is sadly nothing much to do. At the beginning it plays by itself then at some point you are overwhelmed with demons, and sending one of your slimes back would only let the other 2 even more overwhelmed. Or was I missing something?

Now the visuals are really nice. I did love the animations, espacially the spawning eye-demon. The music was a really nice touch too an fitted pretty well !

Nice entry !

Rolly and the Flower by Rolly 2020-04-20T14:44:23Z

Hello @twowolf , thanks for your feedback ! I will try to fix the button bug, since it can make the game a lot easier; Let me assure you that all levels can be completed on the first attempt. :)

Yes, all the sound effects actually come out from my mouth  that's always a lot of fun to do that part.

(I played the compo build, since it's the one I have to rate ; I will try your improved version when I'm done writing this comment) It was a nice experience! As you said it, it's a bit buggy (at some point I couldn't harvest hay anymore, and I don't have a clue why).

Oh my god are the visuals amazing! I wish there was some nice music and it would have been perfect.

Good entry !

RobotDefender by RexGame 2020-04-24T08:24:56Z

Congrats on your first entry! It's a nice implementation of a tower defense.

The visuals are good and do the job, I would only hope to see some background :)

Is there a reason why you didn't opt-out from the audio category? I double-checked but couldn't hear any music or sound? Am I missing something?

Nice entry!

Chains by Rendow 2020-04-27T19:14:53Z

I'm always impressed by games with so much content for a one-person 48h jam ! The visuals are good, and I think it would be worth it to spend a couple hours to create a simple background music. Would help a lot with the mood !

I had fun with your game, nice job!

Stay Frausty by GameDoodles 2020-04-20T18:16:09Z

It is a simple game yet very well executed. Everything semmed smooth and balanced. Like the concept, the visuals are simple but effective. The music was very nice and fitted the game perfectly.

Great game !

Carry the Fire by Ciber_Turtle 2020-04-20T20:41:38Z

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Rail by reheated 2020-10-09T15:23:50Z

It gets hard pretty quickly but the mechanic is solid and well-executed. I managed to get to level 16, but then there are just so many enemies x) .

The music is nice and the visuals are great for being so simple!

Nice entry !

Core Defense by JCMonkey 2020-10-05T12:01:33Z

Pretty well executed shooter game. I especially enjoyed the visuals, the models are very good and the particle effects are perfect.

Of course one can only do as much as it is possible in 48 hours, but there should be ways to improve the ship. At some point (~150s) they are just too many and your rate of fire don't make it possible to kill all of them, so you can only powerlessly watch your defeat coming.

About the music, of course 4 notes in a loop (at least it matches the theme) is maybe "not enough"... But in my opinion, it's better than nothing. It always helps creating a more solid experience than no sound at all. And the sound effects were very nice too and matched correctly the visuals.

Nice entry !

Another by kuro 2020-10-05T00:37:56Z

I really loved the intro, with gorgeous visuals and cool audio. The font was hardly readable, so with the movement, it was only slowing it down. The game is actually pretty nice, once again with very good aesthetics. I had to give up at the 5th level, it was too fast for me x)

Controls were indeed straightforward, except for the space bar to restart the level.

Nice entry !

Chronolings by edomiyamoto 2020-10-06T13:36:58Z

That's a high risk to create that kind of game during a game jam, because it needs to be perfectly balanced to be interesting until the end... And I would say that once you understood that it's actually useless to build more than one farm and one lumberjack camp (they don't produce enough on their own, clicking is the only viable solution), that you have to rush 2-3 cannons, it's actually too straightforward. Apart from balancing, I would say that it is well executed and maybe a good basis to keep working on a post-jam version!

The visuals are really good and the music fits correctly.

Nice entry !

EDIT : I'm not sure I understood your take on the theme, could you help me here ? :D

Raised by Serpents by binroot 2020-10-05T00:05:31Z

It wasn't really clear what I needed to do, then understood that putting the 3 controls in the same direction was winning the game. The game should continue with 4 or 5 layers. I don't really know what it would look like, but it would definitely be amazing to watch.

I liked the visuals and the music!

Nice entry :)

Paradox by Wahooney 2020-10-06T21:21:03Z

It was really good. As you posted on my game, they are indeed similar, yet very different. It was little too short, but it has great potential and I would love to see more of it !

The sound effects and visuals were really good, too bad there was no music !

Very good entry, hope you keep working on it!

Ascend by almost 2020-10-18T04:06:28Z

It's a very solid entry. I love the art, both visuals and music. The puzzles were very clever. After ~5 times running through all the seasons wondering what I had to do (which was nice, it let me enjoy the art!), it was very nice to understand that I could actually change the squirrel position to influance the other seasons.

I completed the game without watching the walk-through video, but spent some time on the panda part. I understood that I had to make it go on the right to use its bubbles to access higher platforms, but it somehow felt wrong to go left (so, "back in time") to take advantage of its new position. Also, when going to the left, the position of the panda is actually reset in summer and spring, so that was a little confusing.

Good entry!

On the Phone (2020) by Linus Lindberg 2020-10-05T18:28:43Z

Red Baddies in Blue Sky Town by citsua 2020-10-06T13:13:53Z

It's a really fun game, and a great take on the theme. Normal difficulty was a bit "meh" so I went to extreme and that's when the fun begun, rewinding ~17238894 times to optimize the action sequence "kill him > shout at him > go trigger that plant > kill him > ..."

I had a lot of fun, thank you for this game ! :)

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-06T08:33:49Z

As always, it's a delight to come and try your entry. It's a very unique take on the theme and it's full of poetry. It's remarkably executed and the visuals and music are a perfect match.

I only wished it was a little bit longer, because when I got the "ow ok I got the idea" feeling, it was ~3 seconds before the end :p. But hey, I wouldn't even know where to begin myself to implement that mechanic, so hats off!

Loopomotive by Tamas Turi 2020-10-06T09:30:46Z

That's the kind of game "just one last attempt", then you find yourself still playing half an hour later. The mechanics are trivial but the possibilities are great - the best kind of games for a LD. Now I think I mastered it, I can stop.

loopomotive.png

The visuals are neat and the music works perfectly.

Are We There Yet? by JudgeZedd 2020-10-07T19:35:10Z

This game was hilarious, I only hoped that it would get even crazier! At some point I thought that the "Are we there yet?" was syncing with music, was that only a coincidence? I was so expecting a "A-A-A... Awedeyet?"

Visuals are what they are, but i must say that they are perfect for carrying the humour. The audio was really nice too!

I had a very good time playing your game, thanks!

Roller Riches by dxk2294 2020-10-08T11:47:26Z

It was a very funny game! Even with a simple game mechanic like this one, carrying it with a good sense of humour makes it great!

Regarding the audio : I disabled it for the first part of the game and re-enabled it for the second part, and may I say that it adds so much to the experience! So even if you think it's your weakest skill, you should definitely try to spend 2-3 hours during the jam to make it! The music not only serve the "Audio" category, but also "overall", "fun", "mood" and in this case "humour", it's totally worth the time spent!

Great entry!

It is a very nice entry. Even with simple game mechanics, it is nice wandering around just to appreciate the pen-drawn-like models and the music. It just missed a few more sound effects and the audio would be perfect.

It's difficult in 48h to actually create a good mood, but you sir achieved it.

Imminent Danger by aplite 2020-10-15T11:37:34Z

That's impressive to have a "deep" (I mean, for 48hours, it is ^^) story in a game jam. Like it was said before, the fact that it's not possible to read the passcode somehow killed the game. But you got something that you could definitely push further in a post-jam version.

The visuals are ok for a jam, you quickly understand what everything is. Now I wished there were some music and sound effects. As I advise to everyone in this case, when you are 2 hours away from the deadline and don't have a music yet, the best way you can use those two hours is by making that music. Even if it's 8 notes in a loop, it really helps creating a better experience!

Some texts you find in the lockers are funny and that humorous touch is really nice!

Nice entry, hope to see more of it!

The visuals are really good, and the music was fine for what it was, just maybe too repetitive?

Blastaround by andrew-marsh 2020-10-09T07:51:01Z

It's a very good game! I couldn't beat the hard mode tho... I'm not very good at that kind of game, so adding more obstacles makes it so difficult ^^. It's a detail, but when going to the menu, the previously picked difficulty should be set by default, so that I only have to press the start button again. It happened more than once that I restarted in "normal" while trying to beat "hard".

I especially love the visuals, and am always impressed how this style gives a great feeling of consistency yet being so clean. I would have loved to hear a nice music over it, too bad. The sound effects gave a nice feeling tho.

It's a really nice game, the puzzles were clever and it felt well polished.

I didn't need the information panels and din't actually noticed them at first - it's really easy to understand what you need to do ; and when I noticed them it actually confused me and took me a while (no pun intended) to understand what they mean. So maybe later in the game with more complex mechanisms that would be useful, but for what it is now I don't think it's required.

The visuals could (obvisouly) be better but at least you used different colors that made it possible to easily understand everything! Sound effects are nice, too bad that there is no music :p

Good job!

A Boy and his Ghosts by Rolly 2020-10-05T17:46:31Z

@oa5f ow, sorry about that, any idea what happened just before the bug? A friend of mine got the same error, but I couldn't find any way to trigger the bug on my machine. If you have any information it would be great!

A Boy and his Ghosts by Rolly 2020-10-06T08:03:05Z

@kuro : Haha ! I played their game too and laughed out loud seeing a little troll dancing in the title screen :D That's a trend!

A Boy and his Ghosts by Rolly 2020-10-09T07:17:27Z

@andrew-marsh Thanks for your feedback, and sorry for this bug. I will try once again to find the bug and hopefully fix it! Now you got me curious how is it possible to beat level 8 without the possibility to pick up the boxes x) Thanks for your kind words!

A Boy and his Ghosts by Rolly 2020-10-09T12:10:28Z

@joeshanahan Thanks for your feedback ! Indeed, I save the inputs (but not each frame; I'm using the Unity new input system, which uses events instead of having to listen to the inputs in an Update function - so I only save when the input changes, which is a lot more memory-friendly :D ) and yes that is indeed the problem for inaccuracies! At first, I saved the position, rotation and animation states at every frame and it worked pretty well, until I added boxes, that require physics to actually work together with the ghosts. It's not perfect that way, but I couldn't come with another solution during the jam, and I was actually expecting worse results x)

If you want to have a better idea of how I did it, my code is public ;)

A Boy and his Ghosts by Rolly 2020-10-09T13:05:04Z

@joeshanahan Indeed, that's a really micro-optimization but anyway! x) Yes, I have to store the time too, so I guess a dropping frame rate shouldn't impact the execution of the script. Each frame (in the Update function) I check the recorded inputs to get the highest time lower than the current frame time, and apply the same input. Meaning that if the game slows down, I will also slow down the execution of the inputs.

I would definitly advise to check out the new input system. It makes a lot of things more simple. If you want to create a settings panel to let your player rebind the keys, it is a made a lot easier. Also, as I am belgian and use a belgian keyboard, I use ZQSD to move (instead of WASD). With the new input system, you don't have to care about the keyboard layout. I defined the movement to work with WASD, but Unity understands that I don't have the "default" layout and remaps automatically.

Feed the Bear by Emperor Eagle 2020-10-21T22:03:35Z

I had the bug with the sprites not being rendered too, but after some alt-tab it worked.

I see you're using Unity, are you sure you did set the honey and beehive SpriteRenderer "order in layer" higher than the background's value?

spriteRenderer.png

The game is nice and fun. As it was said before, it's frustrating to lose by missing honey by a frame, that changes in place to a behive.

The visuals and audio fit well together and helped creating a nice mood.

Good entry!

Choo Choo Loop by thunderkerrigan 2020-10-06T09:42:52Z

I'm confused, is it actually possible to create a loop?

The visuals are nice and the music is fun (I think you only forgot to check the "loop" box - it just stopped after a while).

Nice entry!

City Loop by Quackqack 2020-10-09T14:03:57Z

That's such a great idea! Perfectly fitting the theme and actually entertaining! Good job!

Pi's Great Escape by Lone_Wolf 2020-10-10T11:27:03Z

The game idea is really cool for this theme ! It was sometimes frustrating not being able to jump, but overall it was nicely done.

I read in your commentes that you were rotating the whole level, did you consider rotating the character, the camera and the gravity vector only? That could require less calculations ;)

The music was nice and I really liked that you would change its side depending on the rotation.

Nice entry!

Driven Round the Loop by JoeShanahan 2020-10-09T12:39:47Z

I absolutly loved it. The puzzles were really clever and the idea of a webpage as a menu was perfect and hilarious. You probably just got my highest rates in this jam!

Don't know who did what, but cheers to the one who came up with the brilliant idea, cheers to the one who made the music and sound effects, cheers to the one who made the 3D models, cheers to the one who wrote the hilarious texts! Everything in this game is perfect!

Total Shipwreck by Frogravity 2020-10-07T14:29:07Z

Made it in normal ! I had to restart a few times though, so I didn't give it a try in hard mode :p I love your idea of justifying inaccuracies in the script with the fact that they are drunk - kinda jealous of not having had a similar idea x)

The models are nicely done and the audio is really good. Made me laugh to hear their lines :D

Great entry !

Vrochos by Christos Avramis 2020-10-06T11:00:32Z

It's a cool idea to have multiple mini-games instead of a single one. The first one was really scary, good job on the visuals and the audio ! I think this one has a very good mechanic, and could be pushed a little further!

Nice entry !

Stuck in a TIME loop by mira 2020-10-09T13:27:27Z

Nice take on the theme ! I especially liked the animated rewind feature. The problem with time limits is that the physics must be perfect... In this game, it's ok but they could be improved!

The music give it a mysterious touch, which is nice, and making it loop each time you start over is a good idea!

Congrats on your first solo participation, keep up to good work!

Fire Loop by Kevin Meissner 2020-10-05T19:51:31Z

It took me a few attempts but I made it to 880 (unfortunatly didn't beat your score...)!

The growing fireball and shooting mechanics are very nice. It's a very solid entry for less 3 days of work!

The models are gorgeous and the animations are really smooth! +1 for the character dancing on the title screen. :D

Nice entry !

Edit: I'm curious, what is your interpretation of the theme? Is it more than the "loop" of fireballs around the wizard? 'Cause I also realized that a good way to win the game is running in circles (loops) so that you get a big pack of trolls behind you before shooting them?

Runaway Railcar by Michael Horst 2020-10-12T10:01:54Z

That's a great entry ! The mechanic is simple but well executed, and perfectly fits the theme: as long as you suck, you're actually stuck in a loop! :D

Great job on the 3D models, lights and particle effects, they were perfect! Graphics are a 5-star for me!

The music was also pretty good ; too bad you had to opt-out, you would definitely have got a good ranking there too!

Awesome work!

Games are So Much Fun by Rainbows are Fun 2020-10-05T15:15:30Z

Well that's something x). I like your take on the theme! You actually made exiting the game fun :D

We need to talk by bereg 2020-10-05T09:13:34Z

The mobile game should be made a separate entry and would be the best one so far :D

It is a nice game, the 3D models are really well done, credible, and you can actually feel empathy for lowpoly's! The dialogue system is nicely executed, and I like your take on the theme!

Loop Cure by pedrocoden 2020-10-12T08:43:14Z

Globally the game works fine, is well executed, is not too hard nor too easy. The characters models are nice and well animated. The music is a nice touch. Overall it's a very complete game.

Now I have a feeling that there's something missing... A story, or at least links between ideas that would make them consistent. At some point it feels like you don't actually believe in the story you are trying to tell me as a player, so I can't believe in it either. For instance, on this page you call the items "red items", but in the game, they are "potions"? Why do guys (who, to me, look like football players) chase potions? Why do the potions and the enemies teleport every once in a while? You can imagine the craziest reasons to answer those questions, but you have to know these reasons, and believe in them.

Please don't take my comment too harshly, I'm just trying to help, 'cause I think you only miss that little bit to create a very good game!

LABLOOP by causalpigeon 2020-10-21T21:50:06Z

The mechanic is nice, but I'm not sure how it fits the theme. Help me? :D

Visuals, music and sound effects are really nice.

I hoped there were a few more levels ; the end came when I actually felt confident about my understanding of the mechanics!

Nice entry!

The Ages Among Worlds by Victor Vk 2020-10-05T09:41:11Z

Very nice visuals! I didn't find much to do, but only seeing your art was a nice experience!

You should add "Cursor.lockState = CursorLockMode.Confined;" anywhere in your code to hide the cursor and lock it in the game window, otherwise it's annoying for the players who have two screens ;)

LittleIC by Amin_JK000 2020-10-06T21:36:18Z

The visuals are nice and the littleIC walking animation is really cute! The music was nice at first but became too repetitive in the end. Globally, well done!

Moving On by oa5f 2020-10-05T19:21:39Z

Very clever idea, it was actually quite challenging to reach the end, and I only noticed after a few runs that you can remember all the sequences. I don't know if I exploited the game for the "click 50 times" part but it becomes very fast when using both E and the mouse button.

The music is very nice ! :)

Nice entry !

SUSHI INK. by pbootly 2020-10-12T14:37:48Z

It's a very original idea, and it's perfectly executed! I liked everything about your game: the visuals, the music, the mechanic! Unfortunately, it became quickly too complicated for my poor little brain to process quickly enough x)

While playing, I thought it would be awesome if we could "program" the tentacles, pressing a button to start recording, then again to stop recording. The tentacle would then loop (one more for the theme!) through the script and all you have to do with the last tentacle is to create the dishes depending on the requests and serve! That would be awesome.

Great entry, hope you keep working on it!

A Long Night At Work by jmattspartacus 2020-10-18T04:54:09Z

It's a very solid idea and take on the theme. The puzzles are nice and the difficulty grows smoothly from a room to the next one.

As said previously, the mechanic to pick up objetcs (that needs to be used all the time) is a bit frustrating and you will sometimes have to start over only because you can't press the button correctly. Objects rotating while holding them is never useful in the game, so I would suggest freezing their position when being hold!

Nice entry!

Grabby - The Ultimate Grabbinator by rucksack 2020-10-06T14:07:40Z

That was really fun to play, good job ! I especially like your attention for detail ("muhaha I will break the game by over-feeding over 1000!" "mmh no ok they thought about it."). The visuals are really good and the music is fun and works correctly with the game.

The only thing I have more doubts of is the theme. Just to be sure, what is your take on it? Is it only for the story (grabby's stuck in the loop of doing the exact same thing everyday so it escapes) or is there something more that I missed?

Loopy by Flying Basement Studios 2020-10-19T19:43:41Z

That's a very good game (it actually looks like my second LD, but well-executed! x) ). I love these kinds of puzzle games with very simple mechanics but a lot of possibilities and levels.

I only went up to the level 34 then came back here to see that there are 50 of them. So that would be my only piece of advice: don't make such a long game for a LD! I'm not sure how many of the players actually finished the game, but I think many of us expect to play an entry in something like 10 minutes. So I guess I would have had a better experience seeing a victory screen instead of quitting because I had to do something else. Of course that does not change anything about the quality of your game - I will actually keep it and come back to it later, just for fun (which happens like, never.)

The visuals are simple but well done. In this case, "simple" is a compliment: you get the player's attention to what's important and that don't distract him from the objective. The music fits very well too. The animations of Loopy are cute!

Very good entry!

Edit: just for your information, there are missing sprites of walls in a level (I didn't note down which one). Not really important, but I actually wondered if it was a missing sprite or a new mechanism (a hole in which Loopy could fall?).

Stealth Line by HippolyteA 2020-10-13T14:49:03Z

The idea is nice, and the atmosphere created by the music and voices is a nice touch. As it was said before though, I wished there were a little more to do. My feeling is that any path could actually work if I was lucky enough. It's not missing much, for instance you could add a button "stop/start" to give instructions to the character while he is on his way, and that would bring an all new dimension to the gameplay. Why not different terrain types too, that would have a different ranges of noise, but choosing the less noisy means a longer path or something like that... I could continue but you got the idea : you got a good basis to build on and actually make a game that is very innovative and fun to play!

Nice entry!

Oroboro by ugly_robot 2020-10-04T23:30:58Z

It's a very cool concept, I had a lot of fun. I was so close of completing the game, then threw a piece in the wall and couldn't get it back... That was a little frustrating so I didn't give it another try.

The visuals are basic but we quickly understand everything, which is nice. The music really helped setting the mood!

Nice entry!

Sunk Cost by bradur 2021-04-27T15:05:12Z

Good job, it was a nice experience. I'm impressed by the polish of your game. Everything works so smoothly together and it feels really nice playing it. The visuals are pretty neat (the bubbles were so cute) and the audio fits pretty well. Your interpretation of the theme is maybe too basic, but that would be the only "medium" point that I give. Congrats!

Edit: I would say it's a floating point parsing error. I already met such problem, that happens depending on the client's configuration. So-so-phia by kuro 2021-04-27T20:00:42Z

@kuro Nice! So in the end is it jam or compo? I see that it's still compo, did you forget to change it or..?

The game is very nice, you got a lot of special interesting abilities. The gameplay is quite simple but works well and seems well polished.

Visuals are definitely the best part of the game. Some various visuals for encounters would have been nice, but that's all I can complain about. The particles are really neat, good job on that !

The audio works well. Not too elaborate, but it never bothered me. All the sound effects are on point.

Now the humor. I'm sure you put a lot of effort into it, and it was hilarious at first ; but sorry after a while it became too much. I wished at some point there was less text and more gameplay. Not too bad though, it was really fun at first, and made me smile a few times.

Overall good job, it was a nice experience.

So-so-phia by kuro 2021-04-28T06:45:33Z

@kuro I'm glad to read that there will be a final version. Let me know, I would like to see more. :)

Just to be clear when I say "more gameplay": I didn't feel like there was not enough possibilites (it's pretty cool that you have 6 spells, and more than enough for a compo game). The problem was to be constantly interrupted by dialogs, that killed the pace a bit.

No worries about testing mine, take your time, it's cool if you can! ;)

Deeper in color by sparked99 2021-04-26T09:59:02Z

It runs well and seems well polished. I think you could have gone further with your idea on the theme. I didn't understand what was the purpose of the black trail, since I could clear it by simply walking over it. Maybe it should damage the player instead, adding more challenge when there are more of them.

Visuals are ok and the sound effects are welcome! A nice music would have added a lot to the mood!

Nice entry, good job!

Dukes of Debt by binroot 2021-04-27T09:40:38Z

Cool game, nice mechanic and nice take on the theme. The battles seemed a little bit too easy; for my last battle, the opponent should have easily crushed me, but it seemed like he didn't want to send big amount of troops and I could get them one by one, even though I was outnumbered.

The visuals are ok, but their animations are really cool and add a lot to the cute/funny vibe. The music is simple too but works correctly with the visuals and spirit of the game.

Very good job overall, it's a nice entry!

"Say Aaaah...!" by gilborn 2021-04-26T09:26:32Z

sayah.png

And please come back !

Really funny game, simple mechanics but that give some challenge. It's a really nice take on the theme !

Sometimes the controls seemed a little off, like the cleaner slowly going down for no reason. I'm still not sure whether the tools collide together or not, but it seemed a little weird from time to time.

The visuals are clean and do the job!

The music and sound effects are very good. It was fun to see someone using Musescore too, it got me curious and checked it out. Thanks for providing the musescore file :)

Overall a very good entry, well done !

"Say Aaaah...!" by gilborn 2021-04-30T08:27:40Z

RAMnesia by 100th_Coin 2021-04-27T13:43:39Z

Dude that's a crazy game. How do you come up with ideas like this one in 48 hours and implement it so well?

Visuals and music are very good and look perfectly consistent. You create stuff that is commercial material in such a short amount of time.

Only thing is about the theme, I don't get this "deeper and deeper" feeling. Like you have amnesia and that's it, it's not getting worse.

Congrats on your game, I'm sure it will add new impresive grades to your list! It is from me in any case!

I will try again, but in the mean time, I must say it's a great concept, totally inovative! Great job! I will extend my comment soon, if I can reach the trance :)

DeepSea by Chensu 2021-04-27T08:49:08Z

Nice ! The gameplay is intuitive and after a few seconds of getting used to the controls, it is very fun to swim!

In my opinion, the drilling is not relevant enough (even though it's the way to increase score). Maybe if it had been animated (some particles effects) and had sound effects it would have been more interesting. But I think that you could have had the score depend only on the depth and remove the drilling part. I found myself having a lot of fun going fast and trying to dodge the missiles and the bombs.

Some music would have been nice ; overall it misses too much audio.

The visuals are really neat, good job on the submarine! The lighting and overall atmosphere are really good.

During my first game I encountered a bug. I was low on oxygen so I rushed towards the surface, and probably was I going too fast 'cause I ended up in the outer space, falling forever x)

Nice entry !

Nice job for 14 hours. I'm sorry I didn't really get the pattern. Is there more to do than trying with no clue at all, then starting over until you luckily get the good option? It feels a bit like I'm not given the tools to actually improve so it's a bit frustrating...

Drip by arron-fowler 2021-04-27T15:07:35Z

Ronin Blade by joni-jarvinen 2021-04-27T19:30:56Z

Nice game. The feeling is really well done and the combo system is very satisfying. I think there should be some kind of checkpoints. I died twice at the boss, and wasn't even close to beat him :( I will try again!

The visuals are really cool, you managed to give they this "pureness" feeling that goes really well with the context. Good job. One thing though: I don't know how you could have made it otherwise, but to me the crates appeared as breakable - so it was a bit disappointing there...

I think you could have worked a bit more with the theme. It seems a bit "too easy" as for an interpration of it. Anyway, theme isn't the most important part.

The music is really nice and the sword sound effects are perfect!

Good job, nice entry !

Grave Fallers by Pavel Smejkal 2021-04-28T07:17:55Z

Great game ! I thought I was really bad at this, yet I am suprised to have the highest score in the comments so far  Took me 3 attempts to be honnest...

gravefallers.png

The gameplay is quite simple but very well implemented, and it seems polished! I didn't understand that i had health points at first so I wondered why I didn't get punished for being hit the first time. I guess it's the kind of game in which you understand so well what you have to do, that don't take time to look around the screen. Anyway I think having "lives" is a good idea, and can actually be a good strategy to try and get a few ones before going free fall, not caring to much for hits!

The visuals are well made and very clear, using colors to get the attention of the player where it's needed. Good job on that.

The music is really cool ! It is nice to hear something else than electro for a fast-paced game once in a while. And the idea of having the volume depend on the timer is a nice touch! I think you had a good time making sound effects, they were both cute and funny x)

Good entry!

Good job!

It is really good, quite simple but it's the "come on I can do it, one more try" kind of game. The visuals are nice and music is really cool and goes well with the atmosphere. Good job on the sound effects too, the "arms against water" is very satisfying.

Good entry!

@snesgaard sorry to hear that :(. You can also scroll using the arrow keys if you want to give it another try!

Compulsive Diggers by Rolly 2021-04-26T11:24:20Z

@lisyarus Thanks for your feedback! There are some indicators that appear when they really need to sleep or to eat (with a pillow or food icon), othwerise they always prefer to dig. Yet, their behaviour is "random-ish" and they can decide to do something that is not the best option, to add some variety to their behaviour. I had more ideas in mind for UI indicators but sadly time is what it is :p

Compulsive Diggers by Rolly 2021-04-26T15:18:47Z

@dhim Thanks for testing out the mac version.

You can actually upgrade platform + ladder or ladder + platform into ladder and platform, but you can't place the "ladder and platform" on an existing ladder or platform (I hope I am clear x) ). I think that my mistake was to show the "platform and ladder" in the list ; it makes it more confusing for no reason.

As for the visualisation, I wanted to add a bar on the HUD that would show icons of the dwarfs and their depth in the mine. It's in my todo list, right after "dwarfs need to drink beer" and "dwarfs hurt themselves when there is not enough light"... Some features that will sadly never see the day...

Thanks for your feedback :)

Compulsive Diggers by Rolly 2021-04-27T19:17:05Z

Thank you all for your kind words! I understand that there are some problems, mostly because I think I over-scoped the project for a LD, but all your commentes are appreciated and I will keep that in mind :)

@pavel-smejkal I'm so glad you had a good laugh with the game! I aimed for that "out of control" vibe as you say, that's why I didn't want a pause button or to possibility to destroy stuff, but I hear you loud and clear. At first I wanted to multiply the dwarf spawn frequency by the current number of dwarfs in the mine. Imagine you have 10 of them, spawning 10 times faster. It was litterally raining dwarfs x) Congrats on your score, it's pretty good !

@zachhof sorry about that... I wrote it in this page's description, but didn't do in the game, that's a big mistake... I will spend more time with in-game tooltips or tutorial next time :)

@fermingimpel hahaha! I must say they are especially good when it comes to dying like idiots :D

Deeper get Deeper by maxi1324 2021-05-01T13:07:04Z

I'm sorry I can't really play your game because of mouse sensitivity... I see you are using Unity, is it possible that you are using the new input system, but multiply the value by Time.deltaTime? That could explain the different outcomes between players. If it's the case you shouldn't, since it's already multiplied for you.

I won't rate you since I didn't really tried your game and that wouldn't seem fair to give bad notes only for a bug... Let me know if you fix it, I will gladly come and give it another try! :)

Gun Fracking by zachhof 2021-04-28T07:41:22Z

You got me laughing out loud on the first line of your description x)

The game concept is really good, it was a nice feeling to destroy stuff with the shotgun. Note that you can easily break the game by creating a hook to force the missiles to go and crash, destroying blocks one by one. I think the missiles should destroy a small area instead of one single block at a time, making you lose the oil destroyed in that case of course.

gunfracking.png

The visuals are neat, good job on the pixel art. I like the detail of the character looking in 8 distinct positions, depending on the position of the cursor. Nice touch. The audio is really nice too! Only missing part for both the audio and the visuals is the missile explosion. That may be the most important part. At first I didn't realize I was losing health points because I thought I was far enough to the missile, especially since it only destroyed one block at a time. You really need to give more feedback to the player!

Very good entry overall, nice job!

Sven Treasure Hunter by fermingimpel 2021-04-27T15:32:35Z

It's a little too much based on luck in my opinion, maybe it would have been interesting to have the camera farther to the scene, so that we can try and elaborate a strategy on where to go to optimize getting gold without running out of beer.

The visuals are cool especially the HUD sprites. I don't know why but the mud block sprite is not as good as the rest. Did you change of artist mid-jam? x)

The music is nice and goes well with the story and visuals.

Nice entry !

A Well-built Castle by JaTDev 2021-04-26T14:16:56Z

Nice! You don't need to explain anything, the objectives a very straightforward. This game could easily grow further!

I wished there was a little more to do though (that thing that everyone calls "relaxing" felt to me a little to much like "idling"). I don't know if it would be fun or not, but maybe having the player harvest the resources that would fall on the ground would be something to keep him interracting with the game.

The visuals are really nice, I think the parallax effect is well done. And the music is a nice touch too!

Good job!

Cave of Glory by marksht 2021-04-26T10:10:19Z

Nice pixel art! I really love the animations, especially the attack of the monster!

The game is simple but well executed. I didn't encounter any level generation problem. It felt quite easy to find the green pickax, I think I got there in ~5-6 rooms.

I think you could have gone further, having to find a silver pickax, then starting a new level to find a gold pickax, and then find the green one. "Deeper and deeper" would have made more sense then.

Is it me or is there no audio? You probably want to opt-out from the category if there is none

Nice entry, good job!

Deep In Time by Kitsomo 2021-04-26T14:44:22Z

Cool entry !

The mechanic is nice, with different gravity forces coming from different sources. I only think that the camera could be farther. I found myself playing with the mini-map instead of the main screen. At some point you fall too fast and have to see what's coming.

The visuals are ok, and the music fits!

Good job!

Subterplane by Bigbadbison 2021-04-26T18:07:19Z

Nice work! You did a pretty good job with the plane control feeling, it was very satisfying!

The visuals are ok-ish to very good. I especially enjoyed the smoke effect of the dead previous planes (and there were many of them x)) and the flashlight when going deeper. The music is nice (is there a reason it is muted by default?). Some more sound effects would have been appreciated, such as explosions when crashing.

The gameplay is simple, not very innovative, but who didn't chose this path for a first game jam? It actually felt quite polished.

Note that I encountered a bug (sorry if it was already said, I didn't read all comments above). When you crash, you can click multiple times on the "Play again" button, and it will spawn as many planes, that you all control at the same time. Then each time one of them crash, the game over ui is displayed again.

Good job, congrats!

Floors by JKGames 2021-04-26T17:39:32Z

I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, can we actually pass the first day and see other levels? When I complete the level and go back to the shelter, it keeps telling me that it's day one. When leaving the shelter again, I access the same level (btw, when accessing the level a second time, it appears that the lignting and shadows effect didn't work anymore.

Congrats, you made it actually spooky, thanks to the lighting and the creature's sound effects. The character pixel art is pretty good.

Let me know if I missed something ; for now I will rate you from what I saw :)

Floors by JKGames 2021-04-26T18:24:47Z

@jkgames mmh, that's weird. I recorded a video, that you can find here : https://nathanistace.be/gamejams/ludumdare48/Floors.mp4 I'm using Firefox. Let me know if you fix it, I will gladly give it another try!

Hook, Mines & Sinker! by cjol 2021-04-26T21:30:00Z

Nice little relaxing game. I had to stop because of a bug, but until there it was quite pleasant !

Visually, the game is great. The sprites are sober and gorgeous. However, I'm sad that there is no relaxing music to go with it !

Here's the bug I got: a "NaN" value of gold. I couldn't purchase anything anymore. Note that there is also anohter (minor this one) bug: at some point the oxygen bar decided to move to the top of the screen.

HookMinesAndSinker.png

So sad that happened, I wanted to know how deep I could go! Nice entry overall!

Deep Doors VR by Nobody Goat 2021-04-27T16:23:20Z

At least you tried to create a VR game during a jam, which is nice :D What was the original objective in your game?

Fighting felt good, even though I was surprised that the boxes attacked me, I thought it was inanimated objects at first.

You should make it possible to turn around with the right joystick, I'm not comfortable moving around in my small VR zone :(

Nice try anyway, it's still something that you should see as a good step towards a succesful jam! See you next time with a complete project :)

Jawbreaker by arya-s 2021-04-26T15:03:42Z

Congrats on your first game! It seemed well polished. The pixel art and sound effects are both well done and give that special old school vibe :)

Like others said, I didn't understand the meaning of some icons at first, but it was quite easy to try it out and come back to the same point, so no big trouble.

It's so cool that you had time to come up with a story and a bunch of situations/encounters.

Nice entry !

Deeper into hell by lisyarus 2021-04-26T15:57:24Z

That is such a good entry ! Had a hard time on my first try, the core crystal room was the 3rd room with no other solution that going through it... I tried many times, but nah, couldn't pass!

Upgrades felt a bittoo powerful. In my opinion, you start too weak, then imrpove too fast. After a few upgrades, it becomes almost impossible to die (I went up to 20 shooting speed).

The gameplay is nice, the prodedurally generated maps add something. Some more variety in adversary units could have been cool. The tank and turret models is very well done, and the music fits perfectly. Nothing more to say: great entry!

Deep Sleep by Brad Make Games 2021-04-28T08:10:33Z

Very nice take on the theme, it is great seeing something different that is actually well done ! The mini-games are not especially innovative, but it was nice having various gameplay. I enjoyed the storytelling part, even though it was sometimes difficult to focus on the game and on the text in the top right corner. Took me a while to complete levels 2 and 3 x)

There should be some sort of feedback when hitting something. I guess at some point I hit another car but it was not very clear, so I was confused of the screen fading out to start over.

The pixel art is really nice! The title screen is really gorgeous, good job! Audio is really nice too, the "mysterious" melody adds a lot to the mood.

Nice entry !

The Burden by Lutas 2021-05-01T12:56:27Z

Very nice pixel art! The game is pretty dark (visually and in its story) and had a really nice mood carried by the visuals and the music / sound effects.

Nice entry !

Treasure Hunter by Scrawach 2021-04-26T20:17:02Z

This was fun, maybe my fist time playing as a chest, ever! The game seems well done and pretty well polished. The 3D models and lighting are very well done too !

I only have one complaint, about the camera; is it locked in a position, or did I miss the controls to rotate it? As long as the level is made to go forward it's ok, but when we have to go towards the camera, it's a free hit for every encounter. Giving the possibility to rotate de camera by 90 degrees would have been nice!

I couldn't beat the game. After a few attempts, I reached the king, but he got me... And the camera issue was sadly too frustrating to try again.

Anyway, overall you did a really good job, nice entry !

Potato Pandemonium by SugarSugarSugar 2021-04-26T12:07:23Z

That is so good ! x)

It is a bit difficult to understand the movement at first, but it really makes it fun to play once it's understood ! I love how you send the player in a "forced tutorial", like you must understand the keys before continuing, that's a cool idea.

The visuals are consistent, which add a lot to the humor category. The music felt kinda out of place at first, but it made the battles so epic.

I died at the first boss, then at the 3rd, and didn't want to start over, so I guess some checkpoints would be nice.

Great entry!

LD49 — Unstable

Dogs++ by Jezzamon 2021-10-04T20:46:37Z

Very nice game, you came up with an idea completely unexpected for this theme! I envy you for having such a brilliant idea!

The levels are very well designed, the visuals and music are perfect.

Great job!

Human Resources by lauchsuppe 2021-10-04T11:42:16Z

Playing your game made me unstable.

Cubility by dcrdro 2021-10-04T09:25:21Z

Nice take on the theme and nice game mechanic!

After a while, it got a bit frustrating because I couldn't figure out why some blocks would stick and some others wouldn't.

Visuals are ok and the music is really nice.

Nice entry !

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-04T20:31:51Z

Loved it. Even by reading the description on this page I was already laughing. I won't detail more, everything is perfect.

HotHead by johnnysix 2021-10-07T19:58:43Z

Nice ! I would like to see more of that game, you got an amazing concept!

The pixel art is simply awesome, too bad that there is no music or sound effects...

Destabilize a Reactor by GeroX 2021-10-05T19:10:09Z

Nice take on the theme! There should be some kind of feedback when making it unstable ; I didn't notice the (huge, that's on me) screen at first and wasn't sure that the things I threw had any impact.

The visuals are pretty good, and the sound effects are cool! Too bad there is no music :(

Nice entry !

Path of the Pogo by Human Writes Code 2021-10-07T19:47:34Z

Very cool idea, but difficult game, couldn't pass the first lava part :p

I got the same bug as already said in other comments, every time when the pogo is fully charged, but releasing doesn't do anything.

Your pixel art is pretty good and the music was really nice!

Good entry ;)

Steady Grounds by jsloth 2021-10-04T10:28:57Z

Nice entry, really good mechanic and nice take on the theme.

36 levels is a lot, and it felt kinda reptitive after a while. Clouds was a fresh touch though, but I think you could have achieved the same with only ~15 or 20 levels. Level design was really good though!

The visuals are awesome! All the animations feel perfect, nice job on that!

Sound effects are ok, but it definitely misses a catchy music :'(

The Robotic Savior by Rolly 2021-10-04T13:42:52Z

@fonkin You killed me with your comment xD I assume you didn't pick the "pacifist" solution then? :D

Thanks for your comments!

The Robotic Savior by Rolly 2021-10-04T14:02:36Z

@erikengineengineer Thanks ! Yes, the vacuum cleaner is sadly the only SFX I couldn't do with the mouth :(

@sceef Thanks !

@gerox Fixing the telekinesis remains on my todo list :p I think it's better, even if it's broken. I noticed that some levels are really hard without it! Thanks for your comment :)

@dekajoo You can restart a level with the "R" key, sorry if it wasn't clear enough :(

Wilson's Lab by Nebrazif 2021-10-06T15:08:44Z

Very nice take on the theme, it is a simple interpretation, but so far for the games I played, it was the first time. And you made a very good implementation of it ;)

I would avoid a level with the same colors for teleporters, you turn a puzzle game into a "die and retry" game and it only brings frustration.

The visuals are good and the music pretty nice.

Very nice entry, nice work ;)

Among Monolyths by Dekajoo 2021-10-06T06:48:08Z

Hey ! I had to stop, couldn't figure out what the double-line connector means :(

The game is awesome, having to understand the rules by solving puzzles is genius. I don't know "The Witness" so I guess everything was a big surprise to me. So far, I've spent much more time on your game than any other game of this LD, which is probably the best compliment I can give ;)

The graphics were very nice and the glitches a nice touch (however at first I wondered if it was intended or not). The music is nice but a bit repetitive (and stressful when you get angry for not understanding the puzzles) so I would probably have picked another more relaxing style.

Great job overall, thanks for the experience !

Among Monolyths by Dekajoo 2021-10-06T07:06:12Z

t.jpg

I'm not sure what you mean about left and right islands, so here's where I got (thanks for that "continue button, I was ready to start over to show you :p)

I solved 3 puzzles with the double-connector but I don't think I ever understood why :p

Choppy Rescue by Guisado 2021-10-04T07:56:14Z

Hey, nice entry! Flying the copter feels really nice after a few attempts.

At first, I thought that the copter itself was the "unstable" thing in the game, and didn't realise that you added weather (people don't read :p) Some visual feedback for the weather would have been a nice touch.

I think that the game was a bit too difficult ; landing once is already not easy, and then you see that you can only carry 4 people... I didn't manage to make more than 1 travel...

The sound effects are nice, a music track would have been great.

Good job!

Exploro by MalusKhan 2021-10-06T06:58:26Z

You have a nice game mechanic for the theme, I think you could have created a few more puzzles with that idea.

It was not easy to figure out what to do at first, and the level bigger than a screen in the last levels was a bit annoying.

The visuals and audio are really good!

Nice enry !

edit: you say that music is made by you but you opted-out of the category?

Unstable Atoms by Harmadillo 2021-10-04T09:01:54Z

It is too difficult, I can't get past the first level. It feels like when you kill an enemy, it becomes invisible, but keeps shooting.

Other bug I noticed: the score does not reset between 2 games. That's the only reason why I managed to reach 200 points :p

The music was ok, but did you forget to make it loop?

Unstable Atoms by Harmadillo 2021-10-06T19:00:35Z

@harmadillo I would suggest you upload a fixed version then, everyone makes mistakes, and bugfix is allowed after deadline ;)

Humble Homestead by Tharbakim 2021-10-04T00:42:14Z

Sorry but I have a hard time figuring out what to do. As you say, it really feels like it was an ambitious project and it turned out half completed. The values in the bottom left corner moved in a way I couldn't understand (negative or growing very fast). I don't know if it's normal or not... Please let me know if you add some fixes and I will give it another try ;)

This is falling to be unstable by WitekWitek 2021-10-04T19:14:01Z

59! Is it good ? :p

It is a simple but very well implemented game. The visuals and music are really nice.

I enjoyed the fact that it's unstable but the game is forgiving and the controls feel smooth and polished. Good job on that!

It's a detail, but the game over screen should display the score too.

Nice entry!

UGC: Unstable Gravity Cycle by Sasashasa 2021-10-04T20:03:07Z

Nice relaxing little game. The gravity thing is a nice interpretation of the theme ; I think you could have pushed it even more.

As I could have exepected, the last 3 coins to collect were very difficult to find :p

Visuals are clean, and the music was perfect and created a very nice mood !

Good job!

Un Stable Delivery Service by deighta 2021-10-04T12:32:35Z

I was so hyped in the menu screen, with the nice drawings and music, but the game doesn't really match that first screen.

So I accept a contract, charge the boxes at the back of the truck, then wait, hoping that nothing breaks ; is there anything I can do to prevent the boxes from breaking?

Let me know if I missed something, I will gladly give it another try.

Stable Inc. by CorbenG 2021-10-04T00:17:00Z

Very innovative gameplay. Definitely a "Keep talking and nobody explodes" vibe, but I never saw such an entry for LD. Nicely done!

The visuals are nice.

I had to read the comments to realize that there was music. I had to move the master to 6 and the music to 6 in the settings to hear it. is it just me?

Nice entry, good job!

Happy Glasses by VarunDevs 2021-10-04T12:40:24Z

It's not that bad, don't be so harsh on yourself ;)

It looks like a solid basis, but I wish there were more levels that required a bit more thought.

Congrats for your first LD!

Hopper Unstable by Castoor 2021-10-04T12:59:11Z

The visuals are really cute and the music is nice. Loved the little skeletons :)

Good job!

Stable Tables by Mandytoh 2021-10-04T08:24:56Z

Nice take on the theme!

There are some issues with the colliders - not bugs per say, but it felt weird. I would suggest to use a smaller (circle) collider on the character, so that he doesn't rotate when colliding with a table.

The visuals are really good, and the music is nice and fits the game pretty well!

Nice job!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Stir Cry by icxon 2022-04-04T20:04:31Z

It's a really nice concept, you improved what could have been a very basic shooter thanks to that clever game mechanic. The visuals and audio are also very good!

I would say that it misses some kind of score/high score to actually measure the progress and keep it intersting.

Nice entry!

Gaia by kuro 2022-04-04T15:59:41Z

That's awesome. As you said, not really challenging as a game, but the story/visual/audio experience that you offer is great! I'm always impressed by the level of polish of your games, and quality of your arts. I could have played it 30 more minutes without feeling bored; the balance between relaxing, entertainment and humor is perfect.

Great entry!

I Can Fly by pndaa 2022-04-13T20:00:20Z

Really nice idea, awesome take on the theme! The humor is great!

The visuals do the job, and the music is just "too happy" for the context, but it only improves the humor. :D

I had fun with your entry, nice job!

Block or Bust by 100th_Coin 2022-04-06T18:19:57Z

This was so fun; when you review games for the LD, some of them make you smile, while this one actually made me laugh out loud, so good job on this!

Very polished game, including the visuals, animations, sound effects and music. The universe that you created is crazy but still feels perfectly consistent.

Nice job as always :)

Sorting Algorithm by lectvs 2022-04-23T11:54:10Z

Awesome entry, a 1st place in the mood category well deserved!

If I may point out one little flaw, it's the part in the story when Beta says "I wanted to find something and I found it" but without actually giving more information. Not that the info should be given or anything, but I oddly felt like at that moment you didn't really believe in the story you wanted to tell me, and it felt just a bit off. Very minor thing ;). It's also possible that I completely misinterpreted that part :p

The audio is perfect!

Congrats!

Lava is Deadly by OadT 2022-04-04T14:08:01Z

This is brilliant, loved every second of it (which are much more than I would actually like to admit :D).

I really enjoyed the "tutorial" levels to explain the mechanics, for instance the difference between the ice and the banana peels.

The music and sound effects are nice!

Awesome take on the theme, I must admit that I'm a bit jealous that I didn't have this idea.

Great entry!

The Hunger by Delightfullymad 2022-04-06T17:47:46Z

12 days! This is awesome man, such clever game mechanics. I loved the fact that everything is smartly connected, like you actually choose when an opponent dies, but if it is too early, you don't collect enough blood, but at the same time if you wait an additional turn they will deal damage, that you cannot take too much because you sacrificed a bit of your blood to not take the risk of her blood reserve being too low.

The cards give really satisfying feedback, with the animations and sounds. Some other visuals could be improved a little bit, but it's very good overall! The music fits the game perfectly.

I had a really good experience playing your game, good job!

Edit: I'd love to see an improved version of it, please let me know if you work on this someday!

Lag Tha Magma by wavertron 2022-04-04T14:31:40Z

Very cool concept! It got very laggy on my computer, and that broke the experience a bit, but I had fun trying to figure out the optimal way to stock lava underground in the first minutes! I'm a bit sad of these perf issues, I would really like to see how long I could survive!

The visuals are very good, especially the tower on the right and the player's character! Good job on that.

Too bad that there is no nice music, that would greatly improve the mood.

Good entry!

Until the end by Sir. Syko 2022-04-04T20:51:08Z

It's simple but it's well implemented, good job!

At first I didn't understand that the crystals had to be shot, it looked like bonuses to collect.

I think that adding some music would really help with the mood, I always think it's worth taking one hour to create a 10 seconds looping music :)

Nice entry!

Parachute by JulienLussiez 2022-04-04T14:35:47Z

Nice relaxing game. I was terrible at finding the words, but I really enjoyed the visuals, seeing the changes in animations when finding a word or typing a wrong one.

The minimalistic visual style and sounds are very nice. It's uncommon for a game jam to have such a good polish, and it definitely helps to give a great experience.

Nice entry!

The Greedy Pirates by Rolly 2022-04-04T10:10:57Z

@OadT I renamed you OadT in the leaderboard, let me know if you want another name instead  Congrats on your high score by the way!

I should indead recommend to play in full screen, the letters are a bit too small by default.

The pump evacuates the water as fast as one hole makes its level increase, so if you have 2 holes in the hull, the water level will still increase. But indeed the morale also has an impact on this!

Thanks for your feedback! :)

The Greedy Pirates by Rolly 2022-04-07T06:35:43Z

@theslate :o I didn't know, but now I'm definitely excited! It's been such a long time, I should play all of them once again!

The Greedy Pirates by Rolly 2022-04-27T07:23:11Z

@tiny-pig I'm actually considering it - I brainstormed a bit to see how I could build on top of the current gameplay, and I have a few ideas that could turn out well :) I don't know if a full version of it could come soon, but I'll make sure to let you know if this happens!

Thanks everyone for your feedback :)

Distant Colony by mikouaji 2022-04-04T09:40:33Z

Hi! I think the web version is broken. I tested the Windows version and could notice that in this one, enemies actually move around and attack your base, which is not the case in web.

My main feedback would be that the start is a bit too slow. You place 5 mines, 3 towers and 8 walls, then you wait 5 minutes for something to happen. It got a bit more engaging after day 10, but when I lost, I didn't want to start a new game because of the time it takes.

I really loved the style of your UI, so clean and clear. Good job on that!

I think that some sound effects would have helped with the mood (thinking about some 8bit noises when bullets are fired and enemies are killed). The music works well with the concept though!

Nice entry!

Everlast by LanaLux 2022-04-06T18:40:58Z

Ok you got me x) I was like "Meh. It says that the theme is a twist, but I've been playing for 10 minutes and I don't see it. Either I'm too stupid, or it's just a troll..." but then it hits me :D I'm happy I didn't Alt-F4 :D

The characters are really cute (no matter how harshly they talked to me), and the environment is pretty good-looking in general. The detail when mining the gems is actually pretty impressive, and I know how difficult it is to make a 3D game in 48 hours! The voice acting is very good and definitely adds something!

Very funny, thanks for this!

Btw, I will play this game again if I want to.

Tree loves Sun by AppoxGames 2022-04-05T20:29:55Z

Shot Clock by Nathan Wiles 2022-04-04T12:28:46Z

It's a really good game! I'm actually impressed that you found game mechanics that require skill and offer opportunities to improve the strategy. I really had fun trying to optimize my approach. My high score is 66, not sure that it's very good though :p

The intro screen visual is dope, and the pixel art is very good overall!

The sound effects work well, too bad that there is no entertaining music to go with it. I think it would definitely help the mood!

Very good entry!

X-1 - A Game About a Robot Shutting Down by Billnotic 2022-04-06T18:04:50Z

Awesome concept! This is like the perfect combination between a platformer and usage of the theme!

Everything is so good and feels so consistent; the music, the visuals, the sound effects! This feels very polished!

It took me a while to notice that there was actually a marker that indicates to position of the closest battery (was it explained? Maybe I missed something :p )

Great work!

Planet Saver by PashaLoban 2022-04-04T12:33:46Z

I liked the visuals and the way the earth moves is really satisfying. The gameplay could be more entertaining, it is currently a bit too repetitive.

I got to 104, your high score is really too high :p

Nice take on the theme!

SensenCemetery by Wouter52 2022-04-12T20:06:32Z

Nice! I think it's actually the first LD entry that gets me stressed out!

The concept is simple but works well, and the idea of showing tombstones where other player died is awesome (and I'm thinking that it's the kind of idea I would love to have, to replace a basic UI leaderboard).

The visuals are ok, I'm not a big fan of the style, but they work well and they are consistent!

The music was perfect with your theme. I think there is a small issue when looping (it's not seemless, so it bothers a little bit) but it is still very nice!

Good entry!

Frantic Alchemist by spadekHemoglobiny 2022-04-14T17:53:27Z

Pretty fun concept! I think it missed (or there's something that I didn't understand) some objective, or end to the game. Would have loved to see a timer or something to make it more entertaining, and maybe make me want to start over to increase my best score!

I needed a second game to properly understand what I had to do, but I want to say that the intro/tuto is an awesome idea, loved that!

The visuals are really cool, and the idea of writing the letters in the style of the icon they refer to is clear and intuitive.

I'm a bit sad that there was no music or sound effect. 2 or 3 of them could have improved the mood so much for very little effort. I would recommend to give it a try next time ;)

Great job!

One Fuse by the neon shark 2022-04-06T16:48:17Z

Nice concept! Too bad that there will not be many people playing at the same time, I would be curious to see how it goes! I actually launched it in multiple browsers to see if it works, and it does :p

The visuals are very nice, that bomb is so cute! Would have been awesome to have some sound effects!

Cool entry!

The Death of Time by OminusGalaxy44 2022-04-06T16:36:50Z

It took me a while to figure out what to do, but I finally got to a high score of 403 after a few attemps (I think I was just lucky to find the good spot :D )

It would need some more polish, but I guess that's always the problem in a game jame. I really liked your pistol mechanic, you could really build something great on this. It is too slow and it makes the movement a bit useless in my opinion, but once again it's the kind of tweaking that needs to happen after testing and polishing!

The music and sound effects were nice :)

Good job!

Stay alive by Eli Haun 2022-04-08T09:12:45Z

Good job, it's simple yet very well executed and it's easy to understand what needs to be done.

The visuals are really good!

The music was nice, but it's not looping perfectly, which was a bit annoying to hear. Nice animations and sounds overall :)

Good entry!

Serious Royal Business by Pitxardo 2022-04-05T16:40:16Z

Very nice concept, and I love your interpretation of the theme :) It feels a bit too random to actually try to figure out a proper strategy to survive longer, but I guess that's the idea :D

The music is cool!

Nice entry!

Why Did I Wait by IndiePixel 2022-04-04T14:57:33Z

Nice! I would advise that you write the controls in this page. I quickly read the controls in game, but it's not always clear before you actually start playing the game, so it would have been nice to have another way to see them again without having to exit and restart the game. It would also be nice to show the controls for the keyboard ;)

This game is really gorgeous! the visuals and music work so well together, I loved the mood that you create with this. There are also quite a few game mechanics that are really interesting.

I'm not sure I understood your usage of the theme. What was inevitable?

Very cool entry, nice job!

Tomorrow's Problem by Dorren 2022-04-08T17:07:16Z

Nice implementation of the game, it offers some challenge and is actually fun to play, optimizing the way things are put inside the trashcan!

The visuals are really cool and you created quite a few different items. The music and sound effects are really nice too.

I think you should spend more time to make the objectives more clear. Of course the goal of the game is pretty clear, but sometimes it didn't start the countdown for a reason that I didn't understand. So I tried to move things around a bit, and then the timer started. Was it a bug or was it too high in the first place? I don't know...

The idea of telling the player how to start playing using the same mechanic as the one that will be used in the game is awesome!

Very good for a first entry, nice job!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

INTRUSIVE by Ava Skoog 2022-10-14T15:14:21Z

Good entry!

I wish it was a bit longer, there's definitely room to add more minigames and build on the story that you're telling.

I especially loved the audio in this one, and visuals effects are really nice too! Great atmosphere.

Nice job!

Bunny is going places by kuro 2022-10-03T19:21:14Z

Okay I actually laughed out loud. :D

The game is so simple yet challenging, and perfectly implemented. I'd like to have that kind of idea once in a while, and have enough time to publish a polished game too :D

Music and visuals are gorgeous, everything feels perfectly consistent. I only feel like it was missing some additional "crazyness" that could have come from more sound effects. Also, I would have loved a voice over for the "Bunny is going places" line!

The level of polish is incredible. Awesome entry. Good job!

(Just so you know there is still one typo in one of the final texts - "guess" is written "gues")

Watch Out by 100th_Coin 2022-10-03T10:00:01Z

You always find a way to give a unique interpretation of the theme; while probably 99% of the entries will be about something that happens based on time, you managed to dodge this and offer something completely different... Amazing!

I don't have much to say about audio and visuals. The level of polish for a game jam is incredible. Everything looks and sounds so perfect.

The gameplay is solid, and the puzzles design is smart. On the downside, by relying on physics, there are ways to "break the game", or sometimes you are confronted to some jumps that can be frustrating (thinking about the very last puzzle), even when you know the solution.

But that's just nitpicking... Overall very good job!

HAZCAT - Toxic Feline by johnnysix 2022-10-03T11:04:26Z

Made it in 33 seconds!

It took a while to get used to the inertia of the character when jumping, it felt a little bit off. Everything else feels really smooth, especially the wall jumping.

Regarding the theme, I think your interpretation is a bit too easy and the 10 seconds thingy doesn't have a big impact. I imagine that without the theme, the acid would have raised smoothly instead, but that wouldn't have changed the gameplay.

Nice job on the visuals - the cat, the bubbling acid, the flickering lights - everything looks really cool! The music is great too!

Nice entry!

IRON DAWN by danvil 2022-10-09T10:08:15Z

Making all the sounds yourself is always a great idea! The cows and chickens sounds made me laugh :D!

It's quite ambitious to make that kind of game in a game jam, but you perfectly handled this and it works pretty well! Now on the downside, it usually takes some time for the player to understand what's going on - and I have to say I didn't understand at first. I noticed that I could click on buildings, and some had a button to train units. After 20 seconds or so, the gameplay became clearer.

I'm not sure I understood the "Quantmind Activation" thing. I think something was happening every 10 seconds, I noticed the robots became stronger over time, but I don't know if it was happening at random, or if I could foresee the opponent actions.

I won the first time because (or what I think is the cause) the only city of the opponent got destroyed, and it couldn't train any more units. I understand that balancing is pretty difficult, even more with this kind of game. I started the game again and found it more interesting.

In short, I would say that it needed some kind of tutorial or explanation. But otherwise, that's a very nice entry!

Good job!

10S-Assembler by ShaggyFox 2022-10-14T21:53:34Z

Made it to 14 on the 3rd attempt!

This is a surprisingly entertaining game, very good job! It only lacks someting to keep the player trying again, making them think that there's a way for them to do better. After 3 attempts, I feel like I optimized all my moves, and I don't see how to improve anymore.

The visuals are really well done! The robotic arm mechanism gives a really nice touch. And the music and all sound effects give it a very polished feeling.

Great entry!

The Landfill by Naemis 2022-10-03T09:46:32Z

"Wait if I keep the click down, he keeps throwing molotovs? Niiiice!"

Very cool game! The explosions were really satisfying. The gameplay could have been improved (some way to purchase upgrades could have solved this). In the end, I just kept pressing space, left-clicking, and going left and right, but without actually attempting to do anything. I just sat and watched.

You did a very good job with the visuals and animations, everything works well together.

The music was a bit too repetitive in my opinion, but all sound effects are really good and feel consistent!

Great entry!

The Landfill by Naemis 2022-10-03T13:48:06Z

@naemis I actually preferred the music in the game compared to the one in the title screen. :p I wouldn't say it's bad, but when you start a game for the 3rd time you'd like to hear something different. :D

Tensec World by Rolly 2022-10-16T12:49:17Z

Hey @ava-skoog Thanks for your feedback, and sorry if something was unclear. I failed to inform the player that all resources are limited (bushes only have 100 berries on them, trees have 50 units of wood, rocks have 50 stone, and gold deposits have 10 units of gold). When a deposit is empty, a Tensie will automatically detect that none of his actions have any effect, and stop doing it. There is no limit on the number of Tensies that can "work" at the same time ;)

My assumption is that the bush(es) was emptied when you assigned a task to a 4th Tensie, and stopped doing it - but it's only a coincidence!

Just press the button by Harksa 2022-10-09T15:10:15Z

Nice storytelling, nice humor!

The constant rotating to the right was really bugging me, I guess it is not intended? (Probably missing some constraints on your rigidbody to prevent that).

It could have gone a bit crazier, with clicking color combinations, or clicking the correct button in the dark. :p

Nice entry!

10 is The End by TrueVacuum 2022-10-03T18:53:38Z

Awesome experience you created there.

In the end I could figure out all puzzles, but some were really difficult (7 and 8). I felt that the ratio "I'm happy because I found the solution" over "I'm frustrated because I have no idea what to do" was a bit low. Maybe at some point it would have been good to show an hint or something to tell the player what they should be looking for.

The images are amazing. Just out of curiosty, were they made by hand? If so, that's great work!

The music was probably the best part. I loved every second of it.

Very good game!

10 is The End by TrueVacuum 2022-10-03T19:29:33Z

** SPOILER **

@zhuyao Now that you mention it, I actually saw the difference in level 7, but only realized that it was different when I saw it in level 8. Maybe it could be different, but after 10 seconds, it would start blinking between the default and the "two-gray-lines" versions. Just an idea ;) I actually believe it shouldn't be too obvious either, so I guess it's really hard to properly balance...

Again, good job!

A Forgotten Pulse by Retrisma 2022-10-08T23:45:38Z

I loved the idea of controlling a rat, even though I'm not sure I fully understood the story (I made it to the end but the last "cinematic" was not clear :p)

There are some cool mechanics, I think the wall climbing and jumping felt really smooth. It took me a while to figure out the 3rd type of obstacles (the doors). The thing to activate was just seemless in the background image, and I only found it by randomly spamming the X key.

I'm not sure about the usage of the theme - was the auto-activation happening every 10 seconds? The fact that you can also activate the mechanisms by pressing a key make it more like "Every 10 seconds or whenever you want" :p

Good visuals and music!

Nice entry!

10 Seconds To Annoyance by zimny11 2022-10-14T15:45:35Z

I hate you. Good job.

Hectical Escape by fgamer99 2022-10-09T14:42:56Z

Very cool take on the theme, very well executed game!

Now the main issue I see with this kind of game is that the player gets punished a lot. Failing a jump or ducking a bit too late usually means failing the "level", and thus having to start over from the beginning. Also, the fact that you cannot see the whole level makes it difficult to pass them on the first attempt. Here are some solutions I can think of: - When passing the door, pausing the game during 3 seconds and zooming out. That would allow the player to already figure out the solution instead of having to discover the level and figuring the solution at the same time. - Having some doors be checkpoints, so that you don't have to start over again and again.

The animation of the character is pretty well done. The ducking visuals could have been a bit more different than the standing one. The music worked pretty well, and I loved the nice little melodiy changing to the fast-paced one!

Good job ;)

Call me. Maybe? by Martinek 2022-10-09T14:21:43Z

Unfortunately, it ended for me with a "Fatal Error: Out of memory" x). I played twice, probably for a total of 14-16 minutes.

It's a really nice idea, quite challenging, and perfectly matching the theme! The music is really nice and visuals are good.

As a way to improve, I would recommend showing visual feedback when hover over a cable or an input. At the moment, when you have many thing to do at the same time, you can find yourself struggle because you don't click slightly next to the object, and lose precious seconds. Some white outline would be nice.

There should also be a timer somewhere on the screen, just to know how we're currently doing!

Good job!

Impact-Effect by IdeasPerSecond 2022-10-08T22:06:48Z

Very cool entry!

I loved the visuals, especially in the menu. I clicked all the items multiple times only to see the cool transitions!

The game mechanic is really cool, and quite simple. In my opinion, it is actually that simple, that you shouldn't have bothered writing the tutorial and all those instructions on your LD page. To be honest, I found them quite unclear, and just started the game without understanding or knowing what to expect, to finally find out that the gameplay was straightforward.

The music was a bit annoying in the end, but I guess it's just due my personal taste.

Great job!

Two beers and a glass of wine by arachnid56 2022-10-03T10:07:26Z

I made it to the third level, but then it just gets too crazy! How inefficient is this way to number the tables? :D I wasted so much time going up and down, looking for a table.

Nice touch showing the orders at a random position on the screen, it really gave the feeling of being swamped.

It took me a while to understand how to pick up the drinks, as there was no feedback when the action was performed. IT would have been nice to have a visual effect or a sound effect there.

The visuals are nice, the clients really look enthusiastic :D

Nice entry!

Keep it clear, Bob ! by blk_dg 2022-10-03T07:41:49Z

Very cool game!

I found the power-ups to be a bit too powerful. In a first attempt, I didn 't use them and I found the game a bit more enjoyable. Okay, a rabbit died once in a while, but it was much more "on the edge".

Another note is that I didn't understand how to "win" the game. I think the intro mentions something about 1000 points, but I got higher than that and nothing happened. In the end I just let all rabbits go on the tracks and lost everything at once :D

I loved the visuals of your game, they are beautiful in their simplicity! Minimalistic usage of colors is a awesome way to keep the focus on the objective. The animation of the rabbit is perfect.

Good job!

LD52 — Harvest

Public service announcement by kuro 2023-01-11T17:39:19Z

Hey Kuro! It was nice "playing" your game! You got me laughing a few times.

These visuals are quite impressive, perfectly animated. (obviously talking about the game itself, not the ending cutscene - which is okay-ish)

I hope you have more time during the next LD to implement this amazing game that you are describing!

Penrose Process by cogcomp 2023-01-11T21:54:01Z

Cool game! I loved the idea of increasing or decreasing the speed based on the position of the ship. It would have been fun if the music speed was changing accordingly. :D

The art is pretty good, in it minimalistic style. This together with the music and sounds effects gives a good arcade-y vibe.

Nice entry!

Pickey (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2023-01-18T21:11:07Z

This is really cool! I wanted to create a VR game, but just thought that I would never get 20 people to play my game, and I like getting my rank so bad. Do you usually get enough ratings?

The game is simple but is very well implemented and is actually pretty funny with its visuals and sound effect(s?)

I'm impressed by the quality of the 3D objects in your scene, while playing it I thought that you would have opted out the "Graphics" category. So good job on that!

Nice entry!

My Reaper Garden by ThiefViolinist 2023-01-18T20:47:57Z

Awesome game mechanic you got there! I feel like I'm so bad at your game, but at the same time I know it's entirely my fault so it makes me want to try again.

I loved that your take on the theme is a reaper taking care of its flowers. Makes it so cute :)

The visuals are pretty good, with the little cutscenes and everything! The only thing that bothered me was the flowers when the scene contains to many of them. The fact that their animations are synchronized made it look like the background was moving while I was trying to focus on the gameplay, which made it very disturbing. I think it would be ok if all flowers were moving at different speeds or asynchronously.

Would have loved a nice little music with it!

Good job!

The Bountiful by 100th_Coin 2023-01-11T17:27:13Z

This was awesome once again. I had a good laugh with this one.

Next time, if you have an additional 9 seconds to spare, you could consider adding subtitles. Your voice acting is great, but some people are not native English speakers and probably miss a joke or two because of that, which is a shame.

Thanks for the great experience, i didn't expect to find such a humorous entry based on this theme!

The Bountiful by 100th_Coin 2023-01-11T18:02:25Z

@100th-coin Of course, I completely understand :D But you make games that are so well polished, that you make it look like it's almost too easy for you :D Even your title screen music sounds polished!

Mustered by arron-fowler 2023-01-12T22:19:06Z

I'm disappointed. I was told to expect bugs, so I did, but I didn't find any :(

More seriously, what an amazing game! It's crazy that you were able to create all this in 72 hours. And it works really well. Okay there is some more information that could be added to help the player, and it would need an actual ending, but it works really well, the visuals are good and the music is really nice! And there's so much content it actually takes a while to see everything.

I would recommend adding some shortcuts to purchase the cards, I wanted to go faster, but was limited by the movements of the cursor. :p

Good job, cool game!

So, you created a game that got me "okay one last try". Good job, it's so simple that it's addictive :D

It was really cool. I would have expected new stuff happening later as my score increased, but the current content does the job!

The visuals and the music/sounds effects are really cool!

(FYI your game is still under the compo category)

Great entry!

Corpse Circle by Jonathan Lorenz 2023-01-09T21:30:00Z

Very cool game! My soul is in heaven now :)

When you understand how the scarecrows work, it becomes a bit to easy in my opinion, as the harvester will just wander around and clear the path for you.

I loved the design of the scarecrow, it looks so good :)

The music is really good, and it works well together with the visuals when you get the harvester's red light showing that it's getting closer and closer

Nice entry!

The Anti-Harvest Brigade by Rolly 2023-01-09T09:36:22Z

@found-bow-tonight Thanks for your comment. About the theme, it's in my head, unfortunately :( I didn't have time to do everything I planned, and couldn't develop the plot as much as I would have liked.

The Anti-Harvest Brigade by Rolly 2023-01-09T09:38:14Z

@fnkee thank you so much for your nice comment! I want to create some kind of page to explain how the game works, but I'm glad to read that someone figured it out without any additional information!

The Anti-Harvest Brigade by Rolly 2023-01-12T20:49:10Z

@arron-fowler @wouter52 Okay so it's not just me who's totally annoyed by the fact that there is no music. It was unfortunately the next item on my to-do list, and it will stay there forever :( I definitely need to avoid doing this mistake again in the future; sounds add so much to the experience! Thanks for your feedback :)

The Anti-Harvest Brigade by Rolly 2023-01-12T20:59:02Z

@wouter52 Thanks for this feedback, and don't worry there is no such thing as bad feedback. Feedback coming from someone who is not used to the genre is definitely something to take into consideration!

The arrows show the next target of that character. So for instance, in the second battle, the chicken has one action against your team (it will always target Harrot, since it's your only hero at that point). Then its second action is to feed on one of the worms. In this case the arrow will point at one of the worms, at random.

Note that enemies always do their actions from left to right, then loop back to the first one, and so on. Knowing that, you can know what they'll be doing next, and shield/heal your heroes accordingly.

Regarding the music, it's not a problem of your browser - there's simply no sound in the game :(

I will add the first point as a new tip! Thank you so much :)

The Anti-Harvest Brigade by Rolly 2023-01-18T19:58:43Z

@kuro Thank you so much for your comments! They really made my day. I was pretty pleased with the result (except for the music and not having enough time to create a proper tutorial), but I didn't expect such positive feedback.

I'm happy to hear about this card game of yours, make sure to let me know if you need any testers for it! Also, please feel free to use any ideas that might work well for your game. I probably didn't come up with anything new myself with this one anyway

Once again, thank you so much for your kind words. You have no idea how big the smile on my face is right now.

The Anti-Harvest Brigade by Rolly 2023-01-18T20:28:18Z

@100th-coin You doing feedback videos is once again really cool, there is so much to learn about stuff that appeared to be clear for me, but is definitely not for the end user.

I feel a bit ashamed when I see how this UI of mine looks completely broken on your screen. I should definitely take a few minutes to test it on different resolutions next time.

Otherwise, I'm really happy you enjoyed it, and that you managed to go pretty far on the first version, which is definitely the most difficult one :)

Beware The Wheatshifter by Fnkee 2023-01-09T14:15:54Z

Really cool entry, but difficult game! I found the 3rd one pretty difficult - I finally managed to make it, but it was only to die in level 4

The only thing that bothered me was the collisions between the player character and the crop being a bit too punitive. You could definitely decrease the size of the collider on the player's character by half :p.

Now I'm also wondering if it would be as fun if it was turn-based instead. It would definitely lose the "oh shit he's going to find me" vibe - but would make it more strategic and about movement optimization.

I'll give you an additional .5 star because you used the theme twice!

Nice visuals! I would have loved to listen at a nice tune while playing :p

Good job!

Settlement by Corporation 2023-01-11T21:21:29Z

You definitely got my attention with your game! I must have played 5 or 6 times, but couldn't get a better result than 186.

The game mechanic is really good, but it relies a bit too much on luck in my opinion. The fact that you write what is a good result and what is an amazing result made me want to improve, but I felt a bit powerless. I mean, definitely there are different strategies - but for instance in my last game I had 13 chili peppers to sell at turn 70... And their price was randomly set to 2. If I had been lucky and its price was 8 per unit instead, I would have earned 6x13=78 more, which is the difference between 186 and 264. I guess you get my point :p

I was thinking, maybe an option would be to be able to modify the result of the dice - maybe each turn get +/- 1 that we can either use to change the result of a die, or save for the next turn. That would probably need to be properly balanced as well, but I think it would give an additional strategic dimension.

Don't get me wrong though, I really loved the concept, and I was impressed by the idea of a strategy game like this one that matches the theme so well.

The visuals and music are nice too!

Great entry!

The PIT by Wouter52 2023-01-12T21:42:22Z

Very nice and relaxing game! I would have loved it to be a bit more challenging - maybe you could have a "hard" mode that forbids placing seeds in the grid! It would definitely be difficult then :p

The "grid" game is nicely implemented and you could make something nice with this concept. Again, I think it misses a small thing to be a bit more exciting (could be a timer, could be a max number of moves, or so many other things).

After reading your Trivia part on this page, I paid attention to how the plants grow, and I must say this is really cool!

I'm especially impressed by all your animations in the menus, or transitions between screens. The in-game visuals are very good as well, and the rotating playground is a great idea. Visually, everything looks perfectly polished, it's amazing!

Nice music and sound effects! :)

Good job!

Combine Harvester: Time Attack! by Christian Zommerfelds 2023-01-09T21:45:19Z

Very cool entry. For some reason I found it so relaxing, while also being quite challenging.

The controls feel very good, which is really what makes the game interesting, so good job on that!

It took me a while to figure out how to select another harvester... Might be because I'm tired though x). At first I assumed that it would automatically jump back to the beginning of the timer when I would reach the end, but it was not the case.

The visuals are really cool! Some music would have been awesome :D

Witchcraft! by Bulboculus 2023-01-11T22:28:50Z

I made it to the end! At first, it's a bit difficult, but if you manage to keep engouh "shooter" scarecrows alive, it becomes very hard for the enemies to even reach your front line.

The music was a bit out-of-context, but was fun, and the visuals are quite good, especially the house ones.

You implementing a game called "witchcraft", then swearing on god that your exe is safe made me laugh :)

Nice job :)

Minerals Planter by Found Bow Tonight 2023-01-09T13:57:11Z

Very cool entry!

It took me a while to properly plan on how to spend the money, and I found myself without bomb or money more than once  . I would say it could be balanced a bit more. I'm not sure how your algorithm work to spawn enemies, but it felt kinda random.

Could have been nice as well to have stones that heal you instead of giving money.

The visuals are pretty cool, and the sound effects add something.

Good job on your first LD :)

Real Harvest or not??? by Poietic Ruby 2023-01-11T17:06:25Z

Nice entry, good job for your first LD!

I first played the version that is in your LD page and then the "plus" version.

I found the first one pretty difficult, especially when the pumpkins start attacking. Their attack push the character a bit too much, which makes it impossible to attack them in return - so the only solution is to wait for them to die by themselves, but it takes ages, and in that time the pack grows so much.

In the second build, for some reason after selling once (I think there were 2x seeds + 2x pumkins), I just won the game, so it looks like there's still an issue with this build.

I would like to see more of your game, the idea sounds really good and matching the theme perfectly. I also love your pixel art, it looks really good and consistant.

Btw, I would recommend putting new version in your LD page, while keeping a changelog to be transparent regarding your changes, people will like that :) In the current state, it's pretty difficult to find the fixed version and I would assume that many people will miss it.

Good job!

CrapCirclz by Francois Dervaux 2023-01-11T22:09:03Z

Amazing concept, and very well implemented! Of course I'm terrible at it so I barely passed the first test, but that's on me

I loved the art, in 3D as well as in the UI. The mood that you created is very good, the music and the visuals working very well together.

I didn't understand how you used the theme, except for the fact that it's in a crop field.

Here are some potential issues you might want to fix: - I think there's an error in the menu where the controls are explained: both getting taller and flatter are mapped to the "Ctrl" key, while I understood it's supposed to be ctrl and shift. Yes I'm one of the 3 people who will play your game with the keyboard :) - In the browser, the ctrl key is quite annoying when combined with other keys. For this reason I gave up and played the Windows build instead. Maybe the control to make the alien smaller could be moved to another key in webgl to avoid this.

Good job!

The Overlooker by Geckoo1337 2023-05-11T18:24:46Z

Really nice take on the theme. It gets difficult quite fast, but it really got me wanting to play again to improve. Of course I did worse on the second attempt, but it was fun anyway :)

Good job!

Sky Island Express by AfroAnt 2023-05-08T18:08:26Z

I really enjoyed the game. I love it when the game looks very simple, but then you find out that it's deeper than expected when you interact with some parts of the ship. Discovering that they were catapults on the sides of the ship got me "Niiiiiice" :D. And of course I pressed a lever without knowing what it did, and of course I fell to a certain death :D

I loved the music, it creates a great mood and works perfectly with a flying-pirate-ship genre :D

Good job!

Crazy Ambulance by triggthediscovery 2023-05-13T08:27:05Z

Ok, the guy throwing another guy in the back of the ambulance got me laughing out loud. The sound effects when hitting people on the street was very funny too!

I played the compo version, and maybe I should try the latest version. Implementing a game that relies so much on physics is definitely a fun challenge, but also a risky one :p The car controls are a bit off. I think that the controls to turn when going backwards should be inverted.

Other than that, the city is well designed, you did some excellent work with the visuals! It would have been nice to have some more sound effects, but those that are there are pretty nice. I didn't notice there was music at first, but I remembered you mentioning controls for the music in the description. It turns out the volume is very low and I had to push my settings to the max to hear it.

Cool game!

Inbox Fool by 100th_Coin 2023-05-07T18:19:13Z

Wow incredible game mechanic. I would love to see a longer version of the game based on this game mechanic, with additional features being added and see where it can get. I really enjoyed the gameplay during the boss fight as well.

The music is awesome. Ping me when I can search "The Boss Fight" by Chris Siebert on Spotify :D

Schooled by arron-fowler 2023-05-07T15:03:55Z

Really cool entry, I'm actually amazed with how much of a great mood you can create with a few cubes and trails :D Honestly though, good job on the visuals, it's very engaging, and somehow, I found myself caring for these little cubes that were following me.

I was eaten before I could deliver the last 2 ones to get to level 3, and it got me a bit frustrated to start over again. But I can really see myself thinking about your entry in a few days and start a new game then.

I was wondering, how much of it is generated at runtime, like the weed, are they random? Same with the path the fish follow, and the AI of the bigger fish. I found it fascinating. Any chance you would give access to the code?

Nice music, and again, nice visuals, nice mood!

Cool game!

Wheely Wheely Good Deliveries by Rolly 2023-05-12T16:22:35Z

Hey @geckoo1337 thank you for your kind words! Music is actually using MuseScore - a music sheet editor, that allows exporting to MIDI. That's usually how I do it, probably not the fastest way, but I'm used to working with that tool so it works for me :D

And yes, you can brake by holding the right mouse button. Sorry if that was not clear...

Thanks!

Worm Eats Inc. by sillyman987 2023-05-10T15:30:25Z

Nice game mechanic. I wish there was a bit more challenge, or a bit more things to do, otherwise it gets repetitive quite fast.

The visual of the worm is cool! And the music is really nice and relaxing, creates a great mood.

Good job!

Verses & Vibes by Madbarron 2023-05-14T15:01:40Z

I am impressed by how unique and innovative this game is. Additionally, while the theme has some straightforward interpretations, the one you chose is quite intricate. You have earned five stars from me in both categories!

I also wanted to mention that I shared your game with some of my friends to spread the excitement.

Nothing much to add, fantastic job!

Skyway Delivery by Pincushion 2023-05-10T15:51:52Z

Nice! My score is 6:12.09, is it good? :D Okay of course I crashed a few times, but who didn't?

It was fun discovering the controls (I played with the keyboard, and at first I was wondering why using the mouse when I obviously need both hands on the keyboard, but it turned out that the left click was not really important). I would say that after a few deliveries it became a bit too repetitive. It would have been nice adding some feeling of progress to the game, with power-ups or improvements of the ship between two missions.

I loved the visual style, the work you did with the shaders really improves what you would get by simply using low poly. And the music was really cool as well!

Cool game!

Cart Delivery by zimny11 2023-05-13T09:01:42Z

Haha very fun game! The cart rolling upside down got me laughing out loud. And it was nice getting feedback at the end of the game, made me want to give it another try. Some objects are definitely more difficult than others. On my second attempt I lost everything BUT I got a broom. These people are never happy :D

I think it was very well executed, and all in all looks very polished! The visuals are nice, the rabbit is cute, everything is clear, and the music really adds something!

Great game!

Robin Hood Christmas by cavedens 2023-05-07T19:20:23Z

Cool stealth game! I would have loved if it was a bit more challenging, or have more things to do. It was a bit too easy to outrun the guards.

Simple 3D, but it works well!

The music gives both a "stealth" and "funny" vibe, that's nice!

Good job!

Crazy Baby Delivery by pauvictor 2023-05-01T18:00:01Z

The entry is pretty cool and works well.

I would suggest improving the gameplay by adding something when the baby is delivered. Currently, it's possible to "lock" some beds by never getting the baby, allowing to focus on one single bed. Having the mums getting angry if you never come and pick up the baby would be a simple fix.

Nice take on the theme!

The music is a bit too repetitive. I'd advise that you don't use a piano when it's the only instrument. I found that the repeated "tapping" sound of the piano becomes annoying quickly, compared to using an oboe or violin for the same melody. That being said, it's cool that you took the time to create the music, and the sound effects are fun!

Mothers gesturing with their middle finger made me laugh :D

Good work!

BURNOUT by Wouter52 2023-05-11T18:45:03Z

Wait, parents are really expecting to get THEIR baby? I don't remember being briefed about any of this when I got the job!

That was fun but man did it get difficult very fast. Even for the first baby, by the time I got to the notepad I had forgot everything except for one piece of information :D And it's only later that I realized that I should pay attention to their clothing and all the irrelevant information that the parents give me x)

It was a pretty good game. Good job on the pixel art, animations, music, and tutorial!

Costruttore by CeterasDragos 2023-05-10T20:57:45Z

This is quite incredible that you got such a great "prototype" using physics working after 72 hours. The game is really fun to play. To be honest I started it thinking "man I will probably not spend enough time to really figure it out, I'll probably spend 20 minutes max or so. And it turned out being pretty well polished, and really satisfying, so I probably spent one hour creating different machines and experimenting with all components.

The visuals are very nice! The big head at the end of the road was fun, and components exploding into particles looked awesome.

Good job!

Crunch Time by made3 2023-05-12T16:40:05Z

Really cool game. The game mechanic is simple and it doesn't take much time to understand how it works. There could be some kind of increasing difficulty, with vehicles moving faster, or bad packages that you have to avoid delivering instead.

The visuals are nice, I love how the box look. The music is a bit too repetitive though, I would suggest doubling the loop next time :D

Nice game!

Dungeon Delivery by Krynxx 2023-05-01T18:16:05Z

It took me a few attempts, but I finally managed to deliver a few orders in a row!

I found the implementation of jumping a bit frustrating. In my opinion, it could be improved by disabling movement while in the air or significantly reducing its impact on speed. It's too counter-intuitive. A few times, I was happy with the speed of my character, so I stopped pressing the buttons, resulting in me falling vertically to my death :(. Also, the colliders make the platforms "slippery". Imagine my face I made when I landed successfully for the first, but died because I was too far from the center of the platform. :D

The music is really cool, the graphics are stunning, and everything works well together!

The various modules inside the dungeon, such as mazes, platforms, and moving platforms, were nice to have. It would have been even better if there were bats or spiders to fight!

Great job!

Messenger by ljg 2023-05-11T18:12:57Z

Nice! Quite innovative game for a game jam. I wish it was a bit longer and had a few more paths in the story, but it's already pretty fun like that.

DeliveryQuest by RaggedyJam 2023-05-13T09:12:21Z

I really enjoyed the last mini-game, I think you could have gone even crazier with obstacles or something! The first one was really nice as well, there's probably some possibilities to make it a cool puzzle game.

Good visuals, even though you could probably add some more detail in the background to make it look more polished. At least everything was clear visually, and I'm pretty sure that you didn't even need the tutorial screens - you can easily understand what needs to happen. The music and sound effects are nice as well!

Good job

Beak and Bundle by Aivaxela 2023-05-08T14:23:57Z

Nice entry!

I wish it was a bit longer and went a bit crazier! Not that it was too easy or anything, but it would have been fun if there were twice as many opponents on the screen only for the satisfaction of throwing the bolt attack :D

I loved your attention to detail, with the speed of the wings of the character, and it's so cool that you have this small story implemented!

Good on the music!

Lifesaver by piano_forte 2023-05-12T20:40:32Z

It's a very good idea for a game - I made a few mistakes at first, shooting like there's no tomorrow, only to find out that I only 3 bullets and just missed all of them :D

It's pretty challenging, but that's what kept the game interesting. I think I got to 9 points on my best attempt.

Cool game!

Ensomniac by WigHz 2023-05-01T18:31:45Z

The gameplay is fantastic! Shooting at flying objects with unpredictable movement patterns while compensating for the weight of projectiles is always enjoyable.

In my opinion, it would be a good addition to give the player an option manually unlock the upgrades for the canon between, for instance, one-minute waves. This would introduce a small strategic element to the game.

I enjoyed the music, and the mouth-made sound effects are always entertaining! The visuals are also impressive, with great attention to detail. Quite impressive for a compo game!

Great work!

Delivery Match by SuperKlever 2023-05-02T20:05:44Z

It took me a while, but I made it to the end! It's a really cool idea for a puzzle game. Even thought it was a bit confusing at first, the help panel was clear enough (I spent too much time thinking that the saw was broken because I couldn't match 2 of them together, but in the end it made sense.

It should be explained somewhere that you have to pick the chair last. Or is it a bug - it looked like if I pick the chair and the level is not clear, its clears the chair, but seems to wait for a second tile to match with - but there are none.

It would have been awesome with some music and sound effects :)

Good job!

Dozer Dash by IDidGame 2023-10-08T13:39:36Z

What a cute little dozer!

Very cool game, it's easy to understand what needs to be done, the special ability is a nice addition, and fun to play!

It would be awesome if there was some music, and if the SFX were a bit less repetitive.

I reached 175 on my second game! I wanted to get more, but only did worse after that :D

Nice game!

Turn it ! by Kaimon 2023-10-03T11:44:25Z

I love it, that's a pretty cool gameplay mechanic, and the puzzles are well designed.

Some leads for improvement: - It's a bit frustrating to lose the game at the end of a level because of a small mistake, and having to start again with puzzle chunks that were already solved. Maybe it would be better to have smaller levels, but more of them instead. - I found the inputs to be a bit confusing (I mean they were very clear but for some reason my brain decided to work differently). Many times I wanted to "release" the area, and intuitively I clicked the right mouse button for that. Many times I fell to my death because of this. Maybe something like left to select, right to release and space to rotate would feel better? - I loved the idea of having to jump and rotate the area at the same time, to create a new platform in the middle of the jump. I think you could have built more puzzles using that mechanic, going crazier! - Again, maybe it's me, but I would have preferred that there is momentum when jumping. I like to press jump and release the left/right inputs, assuming that this movement will continue while in the air.

Other than that, the visuals are beautiful, all animations felt pretty smooth and on point, and the music fit perfectly!

Great game!

Blockhead by Fnkee 2023-10-05T20:34:57Z

Very cool idea for a gameplay mechanic! It only needs wall jumping and it will be perfect!

The player character animation is really cool!

Good job!

Mechanizyn by Lincolnsalles 2023-10-20T19:34:25Z

You got a pretty fun concept, I would love to see more levels, and how you can create new puzzles using this simple mechanic.

The art style is nice, I would have loved some more SFX and music to go with it!

Cool one!

Moneypit by Wouter52 2023-10-04T18:25:47Z

Nice game! The gameplay is simple but works very well, and we feel very oppressed when the sight is reduced!

I especially loved the visual style, it's really good and original! Good job on that! The music, on the other end, is... Minimalistic? :D But I enjoyed the sound effects, especially the nagging guy and the beeps :D

Good job!

Moneypit by Wouter52 2023-10-05T19:56:43Z

@wouter52 Haha my bad, when rating I couldn't remember if there was a music track or not (which could either mean that there is none, or that it's a perfect fit for the game :p ), so I launched it again and mistakenly took the heartbeat sfx for a really minimalistic music x). So I launched it again and played a bit more, then it became clear what it was :D

Limited Space in Space by Fifut 2023-10-03T12:00:24Z

Really cool take on the theme! I had to try and crash in an existing satellite to make sure that it was actually limited, and it was :D

The gameplay is pretty cool, and the physics are well done! The size of the ring is actually perfect, making it easy enough and challenging at the same time.

I loved the small animation in the menu! Nice touch!

I'm not a big fan of the music track, but I guess it's just personal tastes. I'm wondering if the mood would have been different with a more calm space-y track.

Good game!

The Sacrifice of Dimitree by magicstunts123 2023-10-20T19:07:39Z

Haha what did I just play? x)

I loved the mood of your game, the music track and the voice helped a lot, and the visuals are pretty good too! Amazing work with the lights!

The game only lacks some kind of explanation at the end, like why is there a little creature that move around, and what am I doing in this maze?

Good job!

Island Hustle by Danyclockworker 2023-10-15T16:50:37Z

Very interesting game mechanic!

I'm not sure I completely understood your take on the theme. Is it because the size of the map is limited? Sounds a bit of an easy interpretation if it's the case :D

The camera is a bit weird, feels like it won't stop moving when I release the keys.

The visuals are quite good, the animation of the characters is very fun, and the music is funky!

Good job!

Re: Charge by polyforma42 2023-10-08T14:26:25Z

Awesome visuals and take on the theme. At first I was wondering what it had to do with the theme, but then I quickly felt completely oppressed and it hit me :D

The visuals are amazing, everything looks so polished, and the animation of the arms look really cool as well.

It would have been perfect with a nice moody music track :p

Good job!

Visuals are quite good, it would have been awesome with a cool music track ;)

Nice entry!

The Horridor by WilliamUllholm 2023-10-02T19:10:38Z

I'm not sure I really understood what I had to do - Creating a corridor and placing "traps" along the way, but I didn't understand when and why I earned money for the next wave, it felt a bit too random. It might help having an idea of the profile of the upcoming visitors.

Two things I would change: - Is it me or the mouse wheel behavior feels inverted? I would do mouse wheel up to zoom in, and down to zoom out. - There is an issue when interacting with the UI while the cursor is also over a corridor tile; the previously selected trap is placed in the world while I don't want to (you can easily fix it by checking that you're not over the UI, using EventSystem.current.isPointerOverGameObject() ;) )

I actually spent some time on the intro screen, you managed to create a very cool mood, and the music track fits pretty well!

Good job on the 3D assets, they look awesome with a great attention to detail!

Nice game!

SINISTER ELEVATOR by ScaryTreeGames 2023-10-20T19:41:22Z

I loved the mood of your game, the music fits perfectly!

I wish the game was a bit more difficult, I expected everything to get a bit crazier in higher levels, like spiders crawling on the walls and coming from all directions. It might be interesting to have only 2 ammo, and having to reload, as missing one shot could really add some scary vibe!

Good job!

SkaryMonsters by AngstjaegerStudio904 2023-10-15T18:14:55Z

Pretty fun game.

I love the art style, even though it might not be a very good fit for the game genre. Making the characters 2D makes it a bit difficult to understand depth, and therefore I spent my time pushing opponents with no effect because I was actually not next to them.

The music is really cool!

Good job

Mediterranean Smuggling by TTKayttis 2023-10-08T13:55:29Z

That's a pretty dark background story, but it's good that you decided to dedicate yourself to such a subject, that sadly fit the theme perfectly. I decided not to overthink it and see it as a management and optimization game (so picking the people who get me more money over the other ones), even though that feels terrible.

The UI was clear enough, even though I got tired of the drag and drop after a while. Careful though, the buttons should write "Send" and not "Sent". It got me confused at some point, as I was wondering why I could load people on boats that were already sent.

The music is nice, definitely adds to the darkness of the story. And Sfx made the game feel very consistent.

I got to a point where I had 4 large ships, so I couldn't really improve anymore. It would have been nice to have a "you win" end screen.

Good job on your game!

Really cool puzzle game! I wasn't able to get to the end, but I will definitely get back to it when I have more time.

The visuals are amazing, and the audio perfectly fits. I only found your take on the theme a bit too easy :D

Great job!

Virtual Church of the Digital Goddess by Geckoo1337 2024-04-18T18:29:22Z

@geckoo1337 Let me clarify my comment: I didn't run in any bug or any move that was refused for a reason I didn't understand. I didn't get to the end because I didn't see how to solve a puzzle (but I'll get back to it and make it to the end next time). On the contrary, your game looks very polished and fair!

Slimeleon by icxon 2024-04-16T16:14:52Z

Your game looks very polished, it's amazing. I loved the drawing mechanic, felt like I was really doing gesture to summon stuff :D

The visuals and audio are cool, it all makes an engaging and humoristic mood.

Ritual of Ribbit by manabreak 2024-04-15T14:37:53Z

It took me a while to defeat the boss, but I did it!

Very nice take on the theme, it's nice to see summoning helpers instead of creatures!

The game looks very polished other than some bug here and there. The music is awesome and perfectly fits, the visuals and animations are amazing!

I wish there was more puzzles through the levels, taking advantage of the 3 different spells. Also, it's a bit sad that the third one makes the first one useless.

Great entry!

Loyalty by Erik Tate 2024-04-21T13:38:55Z

Really cool puzzle game concept!

I didn't reach the end, I unfortunately got too frustrated with the level where an arrow shoots a box. In my opinion, a puzzle game like that shouldn't rely that much on physics, because it can create too many frustrating issues (moving a box against a wall, getting the summoner on top of the dog, sometimes getting a box in the ground when it's pushed by a door, dog not moving with a platform when barking, etc.) It makes it all very dynamic, but at the same time, having to restart a level not because of the logic but because of "bad luck"/wrong timing is not a nice feeling.

That being said, I loved the concept, it's very innovative, the level design is awesome, the visuals and audio are gorgeous. With a little more polish on the game mechanics, this would have definitely been this LD's 5 star for me!

Great work!

Demon Well by 100th_Coin 2024-04-16T15:13:55Z

Once again, epic! Every time I play one of your games, I'm amazed by the level of polish! You make it look like creating a game in 48h is sooo easy, I'll need you to teach me your secrets someday :D

Really loved the visuals, audio and humor. And all that with a take on the theme that is not so common. Great job!

The Evil Eye by Timur_Bahadir 2024-04-16T17:54:59Z

Really cool boss fight game! At first I found it kinda easy but it gets pretty difficult by the end! I think you could have gone even a bit crazier with the level of difficulty and have one additional level, where the demon's attacks are spammed faster!

Good job on the visuals, the demon looks great and its SFX match perfectly!

Oh and since you asked for it: the music is really cool!

Nice game!

The Kid And The Mud by Rolly 2024-04-15T15:24:39Z

@josemwarrior Okay I'll look into the issue about the download.

I get what you mean with the compo stuff and can agree. The issue with the stone is probably because you try to press 'A' (that's what the tooltip shows). You should use 'E' instead. If you want to give it another try, you'll see more of the game (not much happens before you interact with the first stone).

Wannabe Warlock by MrWarranty 2024-04-21T13:02:08Z

Very nice concept, with great humor and sound effects!

It was fun trying out everything I was told not to, and every time there was a different outcome, which was hilarious. It made it look very polished!

Note that I played in full screen mode even though you mentioned I shouldn't, but the top and bottom of the screen were cropped otherwise.

Cool game!

It was a great experience! Thanks, good job!

Salmoning by woona 2024-04-21T14:17:32Z

Funny game. The whole story and salmon lines made me laugh!

The concept of the puzzle game is quite simple, but it's really well implemented. I would have added an icon to represent "banishing" a stick, because there was no visual indication on that, but otherwise everything looks perfect.

Okay and I was wondering if you hardcoded the solutions, and thought maybe you could have missed possibilities in your algorithm, so I went and checked your code and it made me happy to see that you actually do a real parsing and check of the equations :D

Cool game!

Vuno: The Adventurer's Log by Mohammed Kapiel 2024-04-16T17:47:20Z

So I understand it was not finished in the compo version? I won the game by simply spamming cannons in the orange circles :D I'm sad I couldn't see more of it, it looks ambitious and could actually be engaging with a few more rules to the game!

The music sounds good and the UI is simple to understand.

Cool game!

Imp Master by Owtuvammo 2024-05-05T09:05:54Z

@pov @owtuvammo I think there's an issue with the ranking of this game. It looks like it's ranked in the jam category but is considered to be compo. Compo don't go as high as 475 in overall, 765 in graphics, etc. Can it be fixed? I have a tool that creates my stats automatically and it kinda fucks up all numbers  Thanks!

Caught it! You got me very intrigued all the way through the game, I needed a few attempts - first to understand the controls, who am I, who are the other guys, and so on -, then it took me a while even seeing the rabbit for the first time. Somehow you kept me curious for the time that was needed!

I'm not even sure that's the mood you were aiming for, because in the end it's only catching a rabbit, but you managed to create a universe that's out of this world, with a battle music, the spare usage of lihgting, and the squeeking sound all over the place. It was very enigmatic, and I loved it!

Also not explaining the rules at all made me try various things, like trying to block the hallways, and it was pretty fun figuring out the solution!

Nice game!

Really cool game! It's amazing to see the number of different rules your game have, and how you could easily build up on them to make more new levels!

Nice visuals, it's simple but very easy to understand what's going on, and good job on the polish of the anims in the main menu and in the background.

The music fits the game perfectly, and never sounds repetitive.

Great job!

Very nice one! I think you could have gone further into morale dilema's. They made me think a few times.

As already mentionned in previous comments, sometimes it didn't feel right that you would consider my choice wrong while we simply think differently. Or maybe there should be a clear set of guidelines we have to follow. In that setup it felt that I had to use my own morale to answer, so it sounds weird that I could be "wrong".

The mood is quite cool, with the characters arriving each day by bus. In the end that part took a bit too much time and I would have skipped if given the possibility.

I loved the visual style, just downloaded the source code to understand how you handled it. The sounds are nice and the far screamings sounds really add a lot!

I liked the ending, I wish there were more story elements like this one, or connections between characters.

Great game!

Deep sea fishing by Spexxilove 2025-04-08T23:01:35Z

Nice little game you made there! The visuals are really nice, all in shades of gray, and the distance a vision being reduced creates a nice mood!

I wish you added some intriguing music to it. It doesn't need much, just a note here and thereAlso some sfx for sucking the fish, it would have been the only sound your hear down there. It would have added so much!

Nice job!

The Moon Reconstruction Program by 100th_Coin 2025-04-08T22:18:20Z

Man I got myself a nice 'stache. Do you have a nice 'stache? I have a nice 'stache. I bet you're jealous.

What an incredible concept! It's so amazing and well executed.

A few points, just for nitpicking: - The frame rate was a bit low at times on my potato computer :( - I kept clicking outside the window, it would have been nice to "confine" the cursor in the window. - I find the tutorial a bit confusing, like having to smash objects on self to go through them. Is this of any purpose? Or is it to explain "you can't die by doing that"? Also I got three gems, with 3% reconstruction, got stuck at 4th and wandered around for a while before understanding what "reconstruct the moon" meant. Actually that makes sense, this one's on me.

On the visuals side, I'm so impressed by the amount of different sprites you have. You must be truly efficient at making them, the whole universe looks consistent and has many details.

The story and voice acting are hilarious, you got your style and it works very well!

Fathom Pond by Mathstr0fficial 2025-04-07T11:06:18Z

I haven’t gotten very far into the game yet, but I definitely plan to keep going! It’s rare to come across text-based adventure games, and this one turned out to be way more engaging than I expected. The writing is beautiful, and the story is intriguing.

Since I’m not very familiar with the genre, I probably don’t think of all the possible verbs available. I wish a list of common ones was provided! I did try using the ā€œhelpā€ command, but it didn’t return anything

Looking forward to continuing — I’ll update this comment as I progress!

Big Boom Bob by indegame 2025-04-17T20:22:04Z

I played this game for way more time than I wanted to. I think I just developed a passion for bat-hunting with bombs. :D

This game is incredible. It has a few flaws, but all of them are forgiven by the huge scope of your project. All the grapling, bombs, feeding, AI mechanics are so polished, it feels very nice, and losing only makes me want to start another game.

The visuals are nice (the enemies are especially well-drawned) and animations are perfect, and the music fits the game pretty well.

Great game!

Holy Moly! by Thomas_Bringer 2025-04-14T06:55:47Z

I love the art style of this one! Everything looks very clear, smooth and consistent! The gameplay is very intuitive, with this interesting mechanic of digging in the ground.

The only thing I could complain of is that I had to restart a new game because an enemy spawned on an obstacle, and it was impossible to hit him from any accessible point.

Good job, nice game!

Bungee Spelunker by EvilScotsman 2025-04-14T11:05:22Z

Nice take on the theme. It's simple, easy to understand, quickly played, and feels very smooth.

I like the simple visuals and animations, which match well with the style of the game.

The music felt a bit off in my opinion, but other sound effects fit very well.

Good job!

Descent to sunrise by milq 2025-04-17T20:39:11Z

Very nice game! It felt very polished overall, and the story + visuals + music create a great mood.

I think your level design is well done, and pretty clever. I just wish there was a way to unzoom and get a better idea of the surroundings. Since you have to come back to previous locations quite often, you know where you want to go, but at times you don't remember how to get there. On the other side, the characters are quite fast so it's just a half-issue.

I would have enjoyed playing a bit longer, with a few more puzzles to solve.

Good job!

Dig Deeper by tomas88a 2025-04-17T19:22:59Z

Very nice take on the theme. I think I would have preferred if it was not timed. In its current state you can't really properly analyze every detail and do the job of detecting why some object would be real or fake. It took me 3 runs (and partly memorizing which ones were real and which ones weren't) to win!

The visuals are amazing, the 3d objects look very good, and the overall layout felt very nice!

The music is kinda fun, very groovy, it adds some good mood to your game!

Nice job!

Depths shooter by JamesGames1000 2025-04-15T20:24:50Z

Good job on your first LD! I find it a bit difficult, in a good way. it was fun trying to time correctly the jumping to avoid damage, then shooting in any little time frame I got. I also enjoyed taking advantage of the opponentall being packed and killing each other :D

I like the walking animation of the player character, it looks very smooth!

It's a bit sad that there's no music. I'll give you the same tip as I give to anybody else: never underestimate spending 30 minutes to create a simple music loop, it really adds something to the experience.

Nice entry!

The Investigator by ImmortalFox 2025-04-08T19:30:47Z

Hey! Nice job on your first entry.

Since you ask for honest feedback I'll do my best to help where I can!

My first tip would be to stop being too harsh on yourself. Man, you made a video game, I don't know about your background or anything but for what it is it's already cool. I think you spend a bit too much time justifying yourself about how bad it is and it shows an unnecessarily high level of humility in my opinion. Of course it can be funny, but not if it's in every sentence. Your game is promising, and I hope your are proud enough with what you got, to continue learning and participate next time!

The game concept and your take on the theme are very nice. It could have been pushed a bit further, as to have very distinct endings when you refuse to find anyone guilty vs when you find everyone guilty. But of course it would have required much more time!

At first I didn't really like the fact that reading text was timed. I felt that I was punished with the tutorial skipping itself for me being a slow-reader or not a native english speaker. In the end, on the other side, I wanted to skip because I had read everything but wasn't able to. I think that in general with game design, you want to be careful not to punish the player without them doing anything wrong.

Visually I don't have much to say, there's room for improvement, but I'd say you managed to make a very clear design, bringing the eye where it needs to, and to have enough variety.

Regarding the music, yes I'll say it too: it's okay  To be honest, I think it's better to spend 20 minutes doing the music and getting something, than not including any music, and the whole game feels off. My only tip would be not to use piano sounds (I did the same mistake in my first jams). It has this "aggressive" sound that other instruments don't have, and it can give a non-intended mood to your composition. Of course there are masterpieces at piano, but I mean when you don't know how to make it sound right, it's not the easiest instrument to work with. I would recommend winds or strings. Of course all this is very subjective :D

Anyway, I enjoyed playing your game! Nice job!

SquidVenture by Goiaba Games 2025-04-17T19:11:02Z

Sooooo cuuuuute! I love the ending :D

Very good job on the level design. Learning all game mechanics step by step like this is always highly satisfying, and the final boss is challenging without being too difficult (it really helped finding out that I can keep the k button pressed to attack).

The visuals are really nice. I'm always impressed by visuals using a few colors, keeping the whole interface pretty clean, and still making everything understandable.

Music and SFX fit perfectly.

Great game!

Trivia Hart in "The Case of the Porcelain Tricorn" by 100th_Coin 2025-10-17T18:29:55Z

The comment about it being the last time you do that much art made me laugh! But I have to say, I actually thought while playing that the art looks amazing, and has a lot of variety! That's quite impressive!

I feel like you explored a different genre compared to what you usually do, and you did it pretty well. Maybe it was a bit less "crazy" than what I expect when starting your game - except for the humourous part of it. But I still enjoyed it anyway, so good for you!

About humour - I think I missed a few parts for not understanding everything that was saud. I wish there were subtitles to help me :D

Good job!

Forest of the magic mushrooms by jojocanard 2025-10-08T09:47:37Z

Nice! I liked having to experiment on myself and reconsider all my life decisions when being a snail going backwards ! You're a bit harsh on yourself in the description, I found the visuals quite good, and consistent! Also impressive getting this result without using a game engine.

Good job!

Coal Lector by Avhatar 2025-10-17T18:51:33Z

Nice! I especially like the visuals and the visual style that you got there! There could have some improvements to the lights, to avoid seeing it leave the 2D layer of the universe of the game. Other than that I think it was perfect!

The gameplay is simple, and at the same time you want to go a bit further to find more different stuff, so it keeps being entertaining!

On the downside, I think you could have avoided to use the word "Fuck" too often. It felt like it was an easy way to show the frustration of the character and set a negative mood, but instead it pulled me out of the atmosphere you were building, and it felt misplaced in comparison to the "cute" visuals of the game. I think I would have prefered the message had it been delivered in a more humourous or subtle way.

Overall, good game!

Snake Cube by Le Don 2025-10-18T13:42:56Z

Very nice concept! Taking a well-known game and adding an additional dimension to it is awesome, because it gives this refreshing vibe without requiring long introductions!

I was a bit skeptical at first, as I thought collectibles would also be inside the cube, so I was worried about the readability, but making it only on the surface of the cube made it all smooth and readable, and still added a small difficulty. It was the good decision and you executed it very well!

I think it's kind of an easy take on the theme, and it could have been even better with a nice background music, but other than that I had a lot of fun with it!

Great game!

A Gnome's Dig by Brainloaf Studio 2025-10-23T08:03:45Z

Nice, the visuals are truly amazing! Everything was looked very polished and consistent!

Unfortunately, the game crashed when I clicked the "Done" button. I gave it another try, but it crashed at the same point. Too bad, I wish I could see more!

Good game!

Tax Hans! by rascar_capac 2025-10-08T12:33:46Z

I reached 38!

The gameplay is simple but everything fits very well together, and I especially love your visuals. They stand out from what we usually see in a game jam, and it all looks very consistent!

As others have already mentioned, nice improvements would be to make objects more interactable. Here's my list: - Rotate stuff (purses or bowls) to make the stuff inside fall without breaking the container. - Shake the object to know with SFX if it contains interesting stuff or if it's empty - It would have been fun if when finding the love letter, you could play around with it and after a while Hans would point out to a place where he hid money.

It would have been awesome with nice music and effects, but eh, who am I to tell you that. :D

Nice one!

Very cute, I loved the animation of the gnome going through the wall!

The ending made me laugh, and it was nice seeing him get older along the way.

Did you do the left hand of "Comptine d'un autre été, l'après-midi" of Yann Tiersen on purpose? :D I found it weird at first, until I realized the melody was completely different. Funny still :D

Nice game!

Pactbound by Derly 2025-10-06T12:02:46Z

Nice game!

I really like the visuals, you got a nice mood there, and it works very well with the ambiant sounds and sound effects. The "arms" are very weird and got me wondering what kind of creature I'm supposed to be :D. The only downside of the visuals is that the in-game cards are way too blurry and barely visible. I thought it made the game unplayable and was ready to quit, before I noticed that hovering over them showed the same text in the UI.

Regarding the gameplay, I tried to understand at first, but it's a bit hard when there is no way to track what cards I already have. Reading descriptions, I didn't find it clear how much I would earn. Also I don't think I understood the difference between "Earn $2 per 1 turn" and "Earn $2"; I thought some cards would be removed as I go, but it didn't seem like it.

Maybe I was lucky, but around turn 3, I saw that I was earning enough to purchase everything, which I did every single time without reading anymore until round 13, where I got over $1000.

Good job overall!

Halloween Night by Yarli 2025-10-17T18:24:43Z

Nice game! The art looks pretty good! I managed to get 4 heads, but it was quite difficult to avoid taking damage so I lost shortly after that :D

I think you should aim for a bit more feedback and juicyness next time, even with simple sounds. Helping the player understand when they hit or when they lose health points is important. Sometimes I felt like I lost damage but didn't, and vice versa.

Nice entry!

Very nice game! This is the kind of game I really enjoy, and that makes me want to play just once more! :D

There are quite a few different strategies; in the end I just aimed for easy pairs, climbing up the colors as much as possible.

Visuals are simple but make everything really clear and work well with the type of game.

Good job!

Pure soul by SiluetSalat 2025-10-06T11:40:59Z

Nice game! I enjoyed the concept, and was a bit sad to reach the end of the game already, I'd have loved to see a bit more options, and test a few more configurations.

It took me a few attempts to beat the last one, figuring the good configuration, but not so that it became frustrating.

I liked the visuals, especially the cool post process you added that really adds something. It's simple but does the job so well!

UX could be a bit improved: - I found the "drag-and-release-and-click-to-drop" a bit weird. I would have expected drag-and-drop, or even a simple "click to assign to the first empty slot", since the order in slots have no impact on anything. - Restarting when defeated shouldn't play the conversations again, and the previous configuration should be kept.

Good job!

This is truly amazing work! There's a good amount of content, and everything works smoothly. The gameplay loop make it very easy to understand and fix it while everything is running.

The visuals are nicely done, it makes everything very clear and they feel very consistent!

Great job!

Drone Supervisor II Online by Jimbly 2026-05-05T14:30:17Z

@jimbly That's exactly the kind of game I enjoy coding, and I asked myself the very same question quite a few times now :D I think you've found the perfect sweet spot with your implementation (kuddos!). I think it works well here because the loop is short enough, and also because you actually update the outcome in realtime instead of refreshing every time the loop starts or ends. That gives instant feedback to know whether a change works well or has a side effect that breaks something else, while at the same time not breaking the flow.

I'm taking notes :D Seriously, good job!

I loved the mechanic of "connecting" multiple lighthouses between them to reach further. So simple, and yet it works perfectly.

You did an amazing job, congrats!

Your game has a mood that's just on point! Everything contributes so well: the music and sound effects, the visuals, the story! I loved it!

The characters on the clipboard were a bit difficult to read, as a downside of using this visual style. But after a while I understood how the clipboard worked and could more efficiently know where to look, so that's fine.

Good job!

It's really cool! You made a game very simple to understand, but difficult enough to be fully engaging! I got this "just one more try" moment

As other mentioned, it took me some time to understand everything, but I had fun once I got it!

UX could be improved, by slightly moving panels so that it doesn't overlap with game elements.

I laughed when clicking the frog, seeing all the UI be mad at me for what I did :D

Good job!

Nice, everything's very smooth and very intuitive! I stopped after some time when I noticed it was looping on the same levels - is there actually an end to the game? I wish there were more levels, and that it would get completely crazy :D

The visuals are nice in their way: they give this "unpolished" feeling, and at the same time it's all very consistent and it makes everything look good together as whole! The music also contributes in giving a great mood!

Visuals, music and sounds make it all very polished!

Nice job!
