@jk5000 That must be a misclick when I was publishing on Itch, LOL. Thank you for the reminder, it should be public now.
Rolling with moving mouse left/right makes be a bit dizzy.. Mouse sensitivity is also quite high. I like your background music track and the sound effects.
@danvil Thank you for the respone. The control are a bit weird, I'll fix that next time. Thanks for the comment on the background music and the sound effects. Check out my twitter page https://twitter.com/CSY160806 to see how I created them.
TODO: review game
@lakshyaisagod Thank you!!! You can follow me on https://twitter.com/CSY160806 for daily dev log on my indi game project :)
VERY NICE, but bad optimization
First of all, I really think it's awesome that's it's a relatively open world. It's giving me subnautica vibes which I absolutely enjoy. I'm a huge fan of exploring the underwater areas and see what I can discover.
In some regions of the map, I noticed that theres tons of mines and missiles in a trench. This really piqued my interest to go explore it. Not only that, but it combines with the game design of risk versus reward. The best minerals are surrounded by tons of danger.
It's super hilarious when I die. I laughed out loud the first time I got hit by a missile. The loud noise combined with the camera spinning out of control is amazing.
Personal opinion here, but I feel like the controls could be slightly different to make the them feel more intuitive. Instead of the mouse applying roll to the sub, the a/d keys could do that; the mouse can control aiming left/right.
Really fun game. I have so much fun exploring the trenches and dodging the missiles. :)
wow, the graphics and sound are incredible. The game reminds me of Deep Rock Galactic (just the mining). Your game is very relaxing, swimming around and collecting minerals except for the controls that tilt the ship to the side and of course the missiles but that's to be expected. I would like to see some quests or something maybe, some other objectives.
The graphics, particularly on the sub, look really nice. I don't mess with 3D much, so I'm always impressed with compo games that look pretty. The gameplay is simple but serviceable. Good job!
@cammin @tomn114 @wheffle Thank you guys for checking out my game :) love the feed back
@ruslanch Yeah, I agree with you, I guess the map is too big, but the playable only account for a small portion. Thank you for your feedback though :)
Very pretty, but I didn't have much fun with it. Most of the challenge was fighting with the controls, mouselook tied to pitch instead of yaw is something I've never seen before, and I can't wrap my head around it. The basic gameloop of "bait the missiles and gather the purples" emphasizes this movement system, and would be plenty serviceable if the mouselook were improved.
@chris-delta I agree with you, the control does lacks a lot, and need improvement. Thank you for the feed back :)(
Good job with the environment and ambient sound! The sound that is played when you collide with something is way too loud in my opinion. Scared the living crap out of me :D Otherwise awesome job!
@ossuboi I agree with you, it is indeed too loud, sorry for scaring you, :):):) but, thank you for your response.
Really nice aesthetics! It was a little slow for me. I thought the missils were portals and was excited to see what they did but realized they were missiles after getting hit and spinning out of control.
@c4scar Thank you for the response, indeed there are some optimization problem, sorry it is a little slow :)
Good Job. I liked the art a lot. movement was a little janky at times, but I enjoyed playing it.
@sonicpixelation Thanks for the response !
Great visual style! I love all the emissive effects
@cuoshen Thank you !
This is really impressive! I did find the tilting really confusing—it made it surprisingly hard to steer. The atmosphere was good, and as others mentioned, the way the level’s laid out to encourage you to go deeper while putting a bunch of hazards in your way is good design. A little more feedback when a) you’re successfully drilling something (I seemed to miss a lot) and b) you’re close to a mine or being targeted by a missile would have been helpful, but… 48 hours is tight. Nice work!
@mahalis Thanks for the response, I think that miss drilling part is because I forgot to change the linetrace type. Thank you for your response.
This has a very nice design to it, both aesthetic and level design (i.e. the danger trench). Other than the previously mentioned things such as loud explosion and controls, I have a couple of nitpicks. - The VR plugins in unreal should have been disabled, as it tried to connect to my headset when I launched the game - It's silly how unreal enables them by default. - The chromatic aberration (color separation) in the main menu is a bit strong. - It's fine in game though, I think it's just the text making it stand out.
Neither of these detracted from the game itself though so good work.
@hruhf Thank you very much for the response, I didn't know about the VR Headset, so I'll make a note of that. Thanks
This game is actually rly nice to look at and controls surprisingly well for 3D flying. The drill is a little slow at drilling to make the game fluid. BUT WOW are the flying missiles intense when they first attack! I jumped out of my seat when the first missile hit me. It was rly cool!
@welby Thank you for your response! Glad you enjoyed it :)
160 ratings given, do you not sleep? o.O
I spend the whole afternoon downloading and playing other people’s game, and giving feed backs it’s fun, and a learning progress for me too :)
Really cool game. It's pretty, the submarine is easy to control, and the thrill of dashing through the torpedo to access the purple ore is really pleasant. The drill just seem to not want to work all the time and I have to find the perfect angle for it to work, but that's a detail. Congratulation for your game!
Nice ! The gameplay is intuitive and after a few seconds of getting used to the controls, it is very fun to swim!
In my opinion, the drilling is not relevant enough (even though it's the way to increase score). Maybe if it had been animated (some particles effects) and had sound effects it would have been more interesting. But I think that you could have had the score depend only on the depth and remove the drilling part. I found myself having a lot of fun going fast and trying to dodge the missiles and the bombs.
Some music would have been nice ; overall it misses too much audio.
The visuals are really neat, good job on the submarine! The lighting and overall atmosphere are really good.
During my first game I encountered a bug. I was low on oxygen so I rushed towards the surface, and probably was I going too fast 'cause I ended up in the outer space, falling forever x)
Nice entry !
Deleted comment.
Thanks! Collision sound of the rocket is WAY WAY TOO LOUD and made me quit. Controls are kinda innovative but I'm not sure they worked for me. Was not able to get oxygen.
The atmosphere is quite good, but the controls are hard. Especially, as others mentioned as well, the rolling with the mouse. The missiles hit me so hard, it made me spin really fast.
Maybe you could've added some upgrades with the ores you collected and made a smaller lake which is deeper where you need to pass mines and stuff going down.
@rolly thanks for the response, indeed there are some bugs. For the ratings, I respect every game developers hard work, and I will do no such thing as spamming out useless comment, and ratings. I submitted my game on the morning of April 25, I spend the whole afternoon of that day playing and rating till midnight, same thing with the day after. I did not even post anything on my game dev log on twitter(https://twitter.com/CSY160806). Time wise, some games are big, some are small, thus some takes longer to play and some don't, so just dividing the total time by rating do have margine of errors. It is very rude to just spam comments, and giving out random ratings, and I am sure that I have downloaded and played every game, and given a fair response, and thank you very much for spending 45 minutes on my game :)
@chensu Well ok I will give you the benefit of the doubt then. Sorry if I was wrong, I didn't want to be mean. I will remove my comment, it does not make sense keeping it.
@aerolink Thank you for your response! Indeed the drills does not work in some angle, that maybe cause by the linetracing.
@oc1d Thanks for playing my game. Indeed the sound are too loud, and I am going watch out for it next time. Controls wise are kind of weird, sorry for that. For the oxygen part, not sure what happened, I'll look into it :)
@rolly No worries.
@kittenhunter Thanks for the response, indeed the controls is kind of weird, adding upgrades is a awesome idea.
The controls are a little confusing, but overall it's good.
@chrisco Thanks for the response, indeed the controls are a bit weird, sorry for that :)
The game looks spectacular. It was difficult for me to play it because my computer is not powerful, it lags me a bit. It would be great if you could optimize it more or choose a graphic quality option. I love when it breaks the minerals, and the map in the distance looks really cool. About mines and that I'm not convinced because I don't think they even bother me.
Good game! Reminds me of my own.. or my initial idea :D
I was really confused by the mouse camera rotation :/ And i have no idea how to dodge the missiles to harvest the better Resources. Anyway, keep up the work! :)
@javicoder Thanks for the feedbacks!!! I will make sure to fix that for the next time :)
@timo-gass Thanks!!! Indeed the controls are a bit weird, sorry for that :)
Hard to control the ship. Isn't really fun to play - there is no driving force to keep playing. I liked the mine explosion and the rocket hit very much though.
@rawbits Thanks for the feedback !
I have mostly the same feedback as other people :). I really liked the graphics and general ambiance of the game but the controls were unintuitive - I expect the mouse to control yaw instead of roll. One thing that I haven't seen anyone else mention is that I found it difficult to visually tell where the surface was.
@decrementedpalindrome Thanks!!!!
