Now this is fun! Thank you!
91 and I'm tired... must... sleep... can't... must... play... :)
I escape from life to where you escaping from. I program all day every day and I like it very much, but sometimes things isn't going well or anyhow. Now that is when I go out with my girlfriend or with friends and play with my dog for some hours. But those hours getting boring soon so I need to get back to programming. The only problem is when I get back to the code, I just don't want to continue it anymore. Does anyone feel something similar to this?
Anyway the game is good, I liked the music very much, those blocks are awesome, cool guiding and hell I didn't find it distracting or hard at anywhere... Thanks for making it!
Flawless. Need some music and sfx but we can see is really pleasing. The whole game is so in one piece. Also level design is good. Not too hard, not too easy. I would play several levels in one seat. Congrats, this is one of the bests. Thank you for making it!
Good idea but I think I have seen something like this before - not sure though. Nice visuals and good guiding.
Shouldn't the ice been cut where I cut them? Sometimes they just disappear and some little piece comes up instead. And They need to fly away if I go against them or not because sometimes they do. Also can I push them or not?
Anyway thanks for making this!
I can't say anything. This is a proper game and it has everything it needs. I just wanted to say thank you!
P.S.: Maybe you should extend it and make a bigger, sellable game.
How can I play it? Or what needs to happen? Nothing seems to work after Mike disconnecting. Win7 FF6
Ok, I tried It with different answers and there are some people in the chat. Maybe I answered wrong?
My heart is crashed because of the sound they make... uhh.
And it's impassible to avoid them to get the first key imho, so this is no fun for me.
Epic win! I think this game is so simple that it doesn't need any repairing only some other features, music, more levels and a level designer to make a complete sellable game. Nicely done. Thanks!
P.S.: Those cubes and there moving...aren't you into demoscene?
Freedom!!! Hey this is funny stuff! Next time we want to see the room of evil too. :) Good music. Thanks!
Beaten! Nice, but the originals of this type of game had better moving for the ball. Anyway it's nice. Thanks!
It is frustrating that not all the foe try to catch and if so then they do it from where they can't see me.
Also turrets are shooting or not, rapid or not.
And you can get back from exit when the screen fades.
But aside from that this is a good game. Are you made Atom Zombie Smasher or played it a lot? I programmed labyrinth generating algorithms when I was 10 on my C64 and this idea hasn't popped in my mind... How simple and yet entertaining. Thanks for making it. Please get rid of the bugs and post it sometime!
269.5 This is a nice and simple game. I like it!
I really don't get this. Where is the puzzle? I don't want to spoiler this, but I didn't need to think even for a sec...
And also you don't know when is autopilot and when the controls are yours...no fun here.
Fun, but physics are a little weird. The ball is often go the the direction opposite of you would normally expect.
Beaten! This is a fun game! A little easy though but it's entertaining and addictive. Just make some more stages and other fluff. Thank you for making this!
I tried the web version and it loaded fast exept that in the game the background sometime missed. :)
I don't really understand the punch and kick concept. It says Punch always and it should not be displayed until the moment it can be used.
The hopping crowd member was too rare. It would have added to the effect if it occurs more.
And in the and the toilet is really hovering? XD
Played windows version.
Sfx are not fit in, graphics are minimal, but the most annoying that it isn't throw the cans to the right place. They just fly about a char lenght and fall down - the mothers are much much further away and can't reach them. So basicall I can't do anything in this game.
My eyes are not good enought to play this game. :( Keymap is really awkward. And I don't really understand how to do things. I didn't managed to fire my gun...
Game isn't start. But I'll not install mono...
No Windows or Web version... :(
Your game is really good, but you have some confusion in mental diseases. Schizophrenia HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH multiple personalities!
Please read these to clear this out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizophrenia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociative_identity_disorder
Anyway your game is ok. And it's about DID...
On the title screen nothing happens in FireFox...
game not run...
Only a blank window and some start sound... Not so impressive!
Ugh. You have written you are inexperienced, but the controls are the worst I have ever came across. When you put your gun away you stop moving. When you turn to the opposite direction you stop moving. And not alwasy starts moving when I'm pressing the button.
The game is like a slideshow on my Core2 Quad with 1GB DDR3.
No suitable graphics card?! Just what are you people developing for?
Password protected? Are you nuts?
Terraria - the other dimension :)
Nice, but I was hoping for something original. And there are stuff that is not good to anything ex. lantens.
I played it some hours and died only once, but I can't find iron or gold. And I don't know how to gt in to the stairs surrounded by something I have 0 hit point on with everything I have... :(
Updating... hmm... OK!
Downloading with 1000+ Kb/s... OK!
Validating... forever...
It's throwing up windows like crazy and then crashes...
It's a good idea, but you shold rethink the controls imho.
Maybe you should place them in a maze or something to be more challenging...
I think it's a bug that you can place walls outside of the frame.
Yes, this could become a game with some work... and lots of magic. :)
But seriously I need to click 20 times to get the game to react?
1st: I just downloaded it becouse this is the 1st in one sitting. Normally I would never click it if I see megaupload or something similar with waiting and pop-up windows with forced sound video.
2nd: It's not starts and not even shows any error message.
Conclusion I hate you wasting my time...
Pierrec: In what environment? For me it's working just like it should...
The connection to the theme is that you are "working" alone. This is really me working in my lab in front of the monitor all day. I picked this because I was doing just that on friday and saturday when the compo was on. But yes this game is really unfinished...
summaky: This game was made in Processing as I stated that in my first post.
Also to all of you: I have downloaded the Windows version on 7 different PCs of my friends and it worked fine on all cases...
I can think of only one thing that answers this situation. The server of my webpage might be down and that is why you can't download. But I don't know really becouse this problem just doesn't show up to me...
Please read above! This game is unfinished because I had only 12 hours to make it and was using Processing the first time in my life!
But thanks for the comments and trys!
OK! This is the first one I see doing absolutly nothing!
Me LOLZ a lot! Kudos for sfx...
Nice music and good graphics, but it's more of an engine test and not a game...
The music is not by you, so in 48 hours you could have done something more game like.
15 moves. This game is really good in several ways! Thank you!
I'll not install anything to play a game...
Black screen after dialog...
Construct encountered an error in the display engine. Please report this problem to the application developer.
Faild to create Direct3D 9 device. (0x8876086a)
(I did my part...)
42786. This is fun. Nice!
It's sad there isn't a windows version, but kudos for the video.
Music is awsome!
My graphics card isn't meet the requirements? You must be kidding! Or maybe you have put together something really cool what can't be shown in pictures...
Not bad at first. At last it's seems finished. :) But maybe a little better graphics for the food, some instructions, hidding the mouse cursor and restart option on end. Anyway it's nice!
It's realy slow - I mean it's slower than a slide show - on my Core2Quad with 1GB DD3...
I like the idea tough. This could be something really entertainig if expanded a little. But seriuosly you could find better sfx. :)
17 days. :( I can do it better in life. XD
I liked this game. Has everything needed. Thx!
P.s: I made a similar game to this one. But in that you not die of depression. :P Try it!
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-22/?action=preview&uid=5167
Could not switch to requested resolution...
Oh, so you have a prerequisites checker... kudos! :)
It won't start though. No suitable graphics card found.
But hey there's a video! Double kudos!
Ahh this game is soo awesome! It seems I need to buy a new vidoe card or a life...
Excellent idea! You did great there! The only thing is bad that I couldn't read the "How To Play" becouse it was too fast for me...
I can't cross the bridge os I've gotten impatient and try to exit, but it promts that he option is not implemented... :(
Windows binary is a must to everything not Web-based... But +1 for video!
Nice graphics. I thing music is killing th mood but in itself it's good enought for a 48h game.
Good work! Thx!
Dialogs are too slow, you should let the user trigger them.
Invisible walls in an enviroment so monotone are cause the feeling of lost.
Anyway sound is good and graphics are mixed well in to one style. Also story is good and gets the attention, but I didn't understand the end. What happend with sheep? It isn't make sense to me...
So overall it's a good - and I don't say game here - interactive film. Thx for making it!
I'm sure it's done with Unity... This thing always complains about the requested resolution and never start the games...
I was like aaah it isn't fit in the theme and suddenly a twist in the end. :)
You can try out the controls on the main screen. This is very good!
Nice music, good graphics. You've made a really nice shooter.
Nice game. Maybe keymappings are a litle hard to use but I had fun with it.
I like what you have made, but just can't figure out what can be done with things. 87 is my best on easy...
Smile on my face... :)
A good adwise from me. Those mine are almost the length the zombie can jump. Never do things like this. Even in this short game this is discouraging and the player will be impatient when it fails. Maybe the problem here is that you tried to do things in a realist way. Forget that! In platformers, heroes can jump 3 to 5 times there size. With this it's easier to move around...
Same problem here...
I'm not install anything to play a game...
This game is awesome! It has well written mechanics - what a lot of game doesn't have. Good control, good collision detection and particles! :D
game isn't run...
Game isn't starting...
Ohh actually it is starts just need to click on it first... Give me a good face-palm. :P
Nice idea! Controls are killing it though.
Why you need to hold right to fire right? I don't want get closer to them, I want to kill 'em! And why can they shoot faster than me? It isn't fair.
Anyway water is nice but you need some serious optimalizations on it. The whole game is so slow it's almost unplayable.
Nice gfx and music.
Why it can jump only if you hold one of the directions at the same time? And if you jump near to the top and hold the buttons you can stay there and go along it to the end...
I really bad at memorising things. It's good you can go back and compare the groups but for me it isn't easy to remember them at the end.
Very nice concept and good game!
I think it's working right in FF11. But when the green thing slides the whole level become faster for a sec and it's hard to adapt to that.
I like this very much. Good controls and nice music. It's just fun to play. :)
Rank: or, Enemies?: 393, Trophies: Good Program, Score: 548.
Sometime it's slowing down. I think it's because FF11 can't handle HTML5 so good.
Can't the whole game be in english? And that vibrant colored thing was what that I picked up? The first screen not mentions it. It was a trophy? If yes than how am I suppose to know that I have to pick it up?
Balancing is another story in LDs. But I think the wrenches are really rare if i count that it is there for so short time and in most cases near one of the corners so I can't reach.
Nice idea. But I can't understand the concept fully. You save a world by torn it's heart out while robbing all the coins you can and keep smiling? o.O Well... ok!
The 'read me' is scrolls too fast I couldn't read a line. Tried to pause instinctively but there is no option like that. However the game starts when you press 1 while the 'read me' scrolls and there isn't something to let you know this. Instead you should have a back to title optin there (along with the pause of course).
These are minor things only and these flaws reflected in your code too. No big deal in a small game like this done in a hurry though...
All in all this can be a good game sometimes if you continue to develope it some more.
As Nocturne sad it need some more action like breeding and death by ageing.
But what is in there is nicely done! Good game! :)
I have found something that I don't kno if it's really a bug. One of the plants after growing 1 block (and touches dirt above) shrinks 1 block and a dirt from nowhere appeares to the left of it.
With this growing/shinking the plant basically creates dirt and burries itself with it...
I love the idea! An interactive and evolving story. Nice job! :)
It lag a lot sadly on my computer but played it for some time anyway.
There are bug where the story says something happened and it didn't. Like a little brown mushroom appeared - or something like that - and there isn't one. I think maybe it's because you didn't made graphics for it. When I typed 'plants' it isn't showed the correct number - as assume it should show how many of them are on the screen.
The placement of the things should be corrected as they tend to be on each other in this small space. Maybe you should tilt the book even.
There should be a button to recall previous commands so you can save on typing.
Anyway I encourage you to continue developing this amazing game! :)
Well I played it a couple of times and have beaten it once but man this game made me rage.
It need an onscreen mapview badly to see where are the bots scattered, where are the waste and is the exit open allready. When they are scattered you can see the level but you can't see the wast or if the bot near it is capable of eating it.
One big problem is even with 'Q' pressed they are hovering in the air. You just can't get the wast with them.
And even if the bot can eat and its on the wast it struggles to get it. It may need a bigger hitbox or something.
On the non-boxy levels they can stuck up on the hills.
Swarm mechanic is good and if you did this for the first time than you did really well in 48 hours but why it tends to send them into the air?
Sorry, maybe I don't understand something but in this case you need some ingame hints on the first 2 - probably intented to be tutorial - levels.
Why the hell didn't you raised your hand when I was asking for retro games in the LD??? This is a very good game with good gfx and music - maybe you could have chose a somewhat less annoying sound for the gun.
I didn't programmed the Advance before but I do made things on the DMG and on the Color as well as on the DS. If I am remembering right then there was a limit of the amont of sprites you can use in a rasterline on the GB. I'm not sure if this is your problem here though.
Well yes, the game is arguably difficult, I love it! Finally a game with some challenge. And it has good gfx and controls too. You did very well this LD, sir!
This is a nice strat for a game. It needs some ballancing and better gfx but it can turn out really nice. By ballanceing I mean you don't get enought EP to evolve.
I have played all 4 modes but I think I may have find a bug.
In the side-scroller, enemies were sliding off the platforms and out of the screen even.
In the top-down scroller shmup the ships was faster then the bullets.
I don't know about the last one but the RPG was the only what seemed to play right.
Nice idea, not really related to evolution sadly... and it should be a little faster.
Very good! Nice gfx and music. And I'm curious about the random level generation. I am a big fan of procedurally generated stuff! :D
Moon gravity with no lower jump option and ice platfroms... stucking in walls, hurt by lava while on platform on one of the levels and sometimes the guy don't appears and have to reload the game... oh, and the momentum from last level remains.
I love the level design though, makes it fun to play! :)
tcstyle: I have the same config so your problem is elsewhere.
Nice platformer! Cool story with awesome gfx and moody music. A little short I wanted to play some more but it wouldn't be tiny then. :)
Nice platformer! Cool story with awesome gfx and moody music. A little short I wanted to play some more but it wouldn't be tiny then. :)
I know nothing about Java but the only thing I saw as a maybe runnable file is the core.jar but it isn't do anything... sorry!
I love god simulators. Good mechanics here, the only thing is that you need to make a game out of this concept.
I discovered that when I move the land down it also understands it as a gesture and starts to rain.
One of the Assembly partys had an entry where you typed in the appearing words above the tables to keep them quiet but aside from that I never saw an idea like this. Nice one!
This game is easy! I did it one shot too... https://www.dropbox.com/s/g9ge6xihwmq5lni/revolvolution.png
Here I did a scound try with video capture and won... http://youtu.be/71kjCy5gnW8
Osmos without physics. :) It would be good if the others somehow stay in the area so you have a chance to get them. Also the playfield could be bigger and have zooming.
Controls are awkward though. Why didn't you use the NumPad? I know it's not there on some devices but just as an alternative. And what you use is somehow implemented badly because you can't use multiple keys at once and even there are cases when it doesn't react to anything...
Btw, the online version isn't loading for me. (I'm using Processing too so it should work.)
Well this is the worst thing I have played this LD. Starting with the music, please never make one again. And if the only thing I have to do is smash the f 'to' get xp then why are there walls? It's meaningless. Oh I get it! That is the mystic part...
Well it shouldn't be ESC to continue after the text at the begining because it's either SPACE or a mouse click afterwards. Sadly Right after the phone ring pop up window the game locks - music still playing.
Btw very nice music!
I know I sad I try to review anyones game who rated mine but sorry, after reading your journal and all the comments and watched the video I think I will leave this out. I really can't get what is the value I can rate in this creation. I know it's a jam entry but I can't point out a thing that was actually made by you except for the bad level design so I'll leave this out.
Pressed 't', there was no slug in my inventory -> stuck -> no restart button - > quit...
Good game! I didn't find a bug in it. Pretty nice music and gfx for a puzzle game like this. Puzzles are too easy though. It was 4 am when I played it and I got it beaten on the first try. :)
Really nice game! I like what you did with the one level - you just need to play it over and over again... :) Nice minimalistic graphics too!
The only thing it needs in my opinion is a mechanic in almost all platformers. When jumping you jump as high as how long you hold the button so you can jump shorter if you want. Seems a little boring for me to wait for the descending and it gets worse with the wings. It's because basically moving around is simple and it gives a feel of action I think - this is hard to manage actually so congrats for this.
Nice attempt. This could be a good mobile phone game if you make some more levels and objectives.
I don't know though why you need to move into the cave when you finally have a home? :)
Now this game is fun! :D Nice FPS in 48h. Yes the mouse is slow. But I have problems with other things like why are the textures disorting on the walls depending on the viewing angle? Drawing order is messed up on the sprites - tha nearer one is drawn first. Finally I have the floor and ceiling flashing - getting lighter - every once in a while but don't know for sure when and why.
Anyway I liked it and did a walkthrough: http://youtu.be/1yZ4jLUD75k
The idea is good but you should do some balancing. Life regenerates very slow I don't have the nervs to just sit and wait. I want to play! The enemies gives too few points - you need hundreds to evolve.
I don't like manager games so much but somehow you made this fun and easy to use! :)
If I can suggest something than that would be these two things:
- It's OK that the windows are remembering their place but you shoul have multiple windows.
- It isn't good to make the player let go of the mouse if everything else can be controlled by it. Maybe let the mousewheel handle the speed of time and/or have buttons near the indicator.
So you made me play this with the cubes and I'm not regreting it. ;) Keep up the good work!
Wow this is entertaining! I love the music and the random generation. Nice game, good work! Better graphics needed though for the levels, but it's ok, it's playable like this. The only thing I don't understand is the money. What's it for?
Awkward physics and it's just screaming that it's not finished. I can't find out how scroing goes, why the survival timer keeps going still after several deaths and when is the game over state reached. Next time, isntead of making gfx please concentrate on making something that can be called a game!
Other thing is never ever share your game as a zipped Visual Studio project again! Make a separate zip for the game only and another one for the source!
Dll missing... :( You should pack what you use together or at least provide a download link here!
Oh man, what did you do here? I was so excited about this game! I love the style and wanted to build the ship but this is just unplayable.
The main problem I think is clipping is bad. You and even the monsters can go out of the screen. Waypoints - or what to call them - are working or not or glitching like crazy. Sometimes you get into the wall and sometimes you stand next to it. Once I have stucked in the wall and only got out aomehow when I pressed directions wildly.
Sometimes you can get resources and sometimes you can't get anything.
Nothing shows you that the inventory is full and nothing shows is the item can be crafted or not - because you don't have the resources needed.
Controls are counter intuitive and some of them are not mentioned anywhere - like E or anything about the mouse. I mean by counter intuitive is you need to let go of the arrow keys to do anything in the right box and the other keys are layed out all over the keyboard.
Mouse clicking is not working always and when it does it isn't do it's thing on the item you clicked but on the item previously selected.
Why are you need to smash SPACE at the begining to get rid of the text?
So yeah... make a game out of this seriously! I want to play it so badly!
Nice and unique idea! I like it! Don't really know what are the potions for and how to make the one you need if they are differ in any way... so it's needs some explanation.
Nice but why are there somany particles on the level with fire? Are they give you abbilities or what? And when it transformed into a cube there is no way to get out under te blue thing. It needs some explanation or a restart option.
Not about evolution but nice game. The things that are for collection are mostly out of the playfield so it's hard to get them.
I like these kind of games - I suck at them though. Very good minimalistic graphics. The music isn't fitting in my opinion. You need something faster and harder for this action to get the right mood.
The space bullets are okey but you don't have so much time to use them facing the way the enemies are. I know that is why we get homing rokcets. Well they can't really make it to the enemy because they turning in a too wide radius.
All in all it could be a fun game if you think through it again and add some entertaining features and some interesting missions.
Nice game! The only part I didn't liked is the dog eating thing but aside from that everything is allright.
Nice idea! It was worth waiting until generation 5 for some actual challenge. Totally replayable and has good controls too. :)
Nice arena shooter but where is the score man? It has taken some time to find out how to kill the enemies and it's hard to see what to use for them because by the time you are probably dead. And sometimes the not moving shooters are don't die even with the correct thingies equiped.
And don't force me to play in full screen again! That is the worst thing in life! I had to restart Windows more then 10 times...
iOS? I don't believe anyone has the money for an iPhone...
Nice game but never force me to play in full screen again! I hate it and kills Windows...
I think it would be nice if the rocket keep monitoring the distance of surrounding planets so you can rotate them after the launch.
I get this running the exe:
"Could not find the main class: net.vaagen.magnus.Frame."
This game is very good! It has a lot of features implemented and I love the music. Gfx also, the boulder is a little off though. Just to be picky on something... :)
It' exhaustive to set all the guys one by one by hand. You need some group selection or something. Also there are unnecessary commands like 'move'. You want to kill them so either want to go for them or away from. So the problem is in gameplay not in the gfx or lack of audio.
The idea is nice though. Try rethinking the gameplay and make it more entertaining!
Need more features and maybe more species to make it more entertaining. You have different tiles use them for something - most of the time it is bad to have something that has no real function. And it isn't so good when you walk through the lab door because it isn't opened fully. Music is good though!
Nice idea! :) You need better instructions though. Like why is the wife left, and what heppened with the child? In the upgrade menu you need to show somehow what items can be bought and what are already yours. But aside from these things it's a nice concept - and creative music. ;)
Music and graphics are nice, but there are a lot of bugs.
First, clipping is just not working. You get halfway into the ceiling and stuck in every wall. Also you stuck like what ever you do it doesn't count until the game decides to unstuck you. The cube when thrown can hovering in mid air or you can throw it in the wall.
You should have some kind of indicator for the abbilities and for the breath under water. If I can't see exactly these values like in a progressbar or something than I can't judge what can be done.
Also smashing SPACE like crazy to swim up isn't a good practice I think. It should be just holding it down.
So guys I didn't know what have you learned in the university but this many people in 3 days should have done better!
That is ended quickly. It's sad because this is one of the games that are actually nicely implemented...
Well evolution is not really involved in this one, but it does good what it does.
I don't really can get the feeling is these kind of games so I found it boring as you can't do anything interesting in it, but the texts kept me entertained enought to play it through. Althought it would be good if they change as you advance in the story.
I don't quite understand what happend and why there, but it's fine I'm just a little boy... :)

Sorry for the repost. Did I sad I liked it? Graphics are good and audio is spot on! :)
Wow that is so simple and yet so entertaining. My eyes are hurtint though but it was totally wort it! :)
I don't know pyton and not even willing to learn how to start something in it...
Learn your tools and make executable files at least!
Sorry, I wanted to try the game but Unity crashes and kill Win7 always so I will not install it.
There should be a goal to achive or something suprising because in this state this is not a game just a plain algorithm showoff with nice music.
The algorithm seems to be working fine you have done a nice job on that. Maybe if these plants were cannabis instead of trees it would be more interesting to some... :)
The shooter part was surprisingly good in mechanics - did not liked the platformer though... And there is a million of you worked on this project how is that you can not made some real gfx or actual music? And you have really needed to steal the Captain Planet stuff?
1. VCS just don't have that graphics.
2. The 6507 is an 8-bit processor.
3. On the Sega 32x were a Doom and if I am remembering right a Wolfenstein but what you did is more like a 64-bit N64 style thing where it goes 3D. (Later consoles had better graphics - well at least they considered better...)
4. Jumping should be shorter when taping SPACE. And why is that bouncing?
5. Clipping isnt right at anywhere in the game. I thing think in the last part you didn't do a seperate clipping wall and you can go inbetween the buildings maybe.
6. I found a building inside anouther. :)
7. You need a HUD to show how many things you collected as they are necessary to advance.
8. And never ever take away the controls from the player unless you clearly show there is an animation going on!
Anyway you did good in your first LD. I am sure you will do better in the next!
And just for you to know, you are my hero having a restart option at the end - even if I don't want to replay this game ever.
Samurais are growing flowers in this it seems. I don't know what is the next generation is for, the flowers are fully randomly colored it seems and has nothing to do with the selelected one. Yes, selected because if it's harvested then it shouldn't stay there imho. Controls are awkward and you move whenever you harvest or click the next gen but I didn't tried the post-compo so I don't know if it is fixed... Nice idea though!
So you can plant 5 corns and that's it? Nothing happens anymore? Or do I have to wait for the corn to run out? Now that is what I'm not going to do in a game. I want to play and not wait!
Learn how to make executables! I'll not setup an environment just to run a... game...
After hitting start it displays a Level 1 - Creation screen and just stuck there in FireFox.
This is one of those fancy highly detailed graphics games that won't run with my gfx card...
Nice game! It has good graphcs, music would give it some mood though.
It needs more content to keep the interest up and you have to ask if you can not resume a game after accidentally clicking on the house icon at the top left.
This could be something good but the souls are randomly stop following you. I don't have the nervs for this. And it's lagging too much, some optimalizations needed I think.
This idea is nicely implemented. I like it. Only the fish needs the abbility to eat from right to left too. Maybe there are too much mutations going in one evolution.
It was hard to get the picture together but now I'm starting to understad things. The only thing I don't understads is why cure anyone if you win just by surviving?
It looks pretty nice on the video but I can't zoom in on to the terrain so I can't really do anything. However - from the video - I saw that you can raise and lower the water too? 8O how is that possible? :) Also the terrain is influencedby the heat but it doesn't look like it corresponds to the given heat map at start.
I don't know what to do in this game. Things are in the ground and was hard to figure this out. It's also hard to know if the icon is showing the creature or just the direction to it. The beam isn't getting the right ones and I don't know if the bullets are going the direction they are because they are tracking an enemy or not. Why the UFO goes under the see or sliding up the hill instead of hovering above?
Very nice addon for the basic rock-paper-scissors game.
I love how it turned out. I had a hard ime playing it though. My things rarely attacked because they where chased most of the time. Also they couldn't defend the base because they came out on the opposite side of it. It would be better if you need to press a key for changing the minion to be placed and place it in the direction of a mouse click.
Also they are drawn on top of the display at the bottom.
Well I have beaten it, but I didn't read the comments before so I've got no video. I'll try again!
Really good engine anyway! Great job!
Done! http://youtu.be/slQKhU0Eyu0
Sorry for no sound, I was forget to turn on the recording. Anyway there are problems with moving. You can jump while in mid air sometimes and i think it would be better if he loose momentum when bumping the head in the ceiling - like in mario. And when landing on a corner he stucks there and not sure what meks it move again - smashin every button like crazy... :D
The main window spans through 2 monitors here... And I don't know how to kill the enemies which are wearing protection. They basically unstopabble and walks sraight through me. There should be a knock back when be hitten so you have time for another shot.
My video card only supports up to OpenGL 2.1 so gfy are not showing well for me in the windows version but the web version works fine in FireFox - aside the crash that occurs on reloading. I like the idea though and the music is moody. :)You should continue to work on this game like adding missions and maybe awards so it's ready for Steam. :D
Thank you for making this!
I liked this game really much! Effects like shaking give a lot for the mood. I felt like I hold a BFG and bear the knockback of it. :)
It's hard to control in tight places with the accelerating and bouncing machanics though. And didn't think traps are working or at least I never saw one doing something. Also I find a bug when the game loose focus the mouse starts scrolling the playfield and can't get back to the original view.
My graphics card already cant handle your awsome contents... "No suitable graphics card found"
This game as it is now with the short story is ok. Actually you made me install Unity what killed my Windows in the previous 3 LDs so I needed complet reinstall. But now it seem to work well.
I liked the graphics and the music is nice, it was good to hear and the game needs it. Jumping is a little disappointing becase come on it's a cat. Cats are not jumping, they don't know about gravity they just fly.
Anyway thanks for making this! :)
Well what can I say? I just simply love it! Everything in it. All 2D games should have detials like this! Even if most of it was base code what I don't use. I promise I will play this through - not on video though.
I think controls and gfx are ok with this game. I like the eerie noises and the map is a good addition. :)
I too built upon the evolving land idea. But never thought about doing a spooky game. Nice!
I think you should have something against the spooks. Like if the artifacts have a charge and you could use it as a shield. Because like this you can't do anything if one shows up and that is a big game killer imho. I mean you get bored fast because there isn't anything else to do in the game.
I can't 'git' it. "Page did not respond in a timely fashion." Please use DropBox for the game download it's trusty and I don't care about any Python code.
I'll try later!
Nice mechanics but there are some design flaws.
Like I think the collision area of the players ship is bigger that the ship it self although it should be a lot smaller.
You could have added some better movements to the enemy ships and make them randomly appear so they are less predictable.
The kamikaze ships are not shootable. There is no shmup where you can't shoot an enemy. It's a nice idea though to have them because they make you move a lot, but at the same time you need to have more bullets on screen thus make them harder to avoid. This is a basic shmup concept and it makes the game fun to play!
I could not find anything that evolves in this game nor I found upgrades.
Anyway please countinue this project. I love shmups!
Too hard for me right now but I liked the controls and the behaviour. Pretty neat idea too! I'll give it a shot sometimes later when I have the brains for this kind of games. :)
I'am so jealous about you managed to get coop with your daughter... :) She must be looking at you like if you are a mage or something bringing her drawings to life!
I love the art and music. Also it's a so simple concept. Good job!
I liked this game had some fun with it! :)
The theme use is right but not really creative in this one. I liked the story a lot though. An evil scientist battling digital vaginas - or nanobots you say. :D
The design is great! It's got lots of potential. And the scrolling must have been a hell lot of a work to implement in 48 hours.
There are some problems though.
- Half or third of the 2 minutes spends doing nothing as there are no enemies. Maybe a 'speed up time' button would be great to keep the action going.
- There were times when my abbilities got deselected and also there were when SPACE didn't done anything even if the first abbility was selected. I couldn't find out how to use the other abbilites, I bought them but them seems to do nothing. Oh and btw, some icons would be great for them!
- Maybe sliders would be better on the upgrades screen because I swear I heard my mouse screaming. Not to mention my clicking finger. :)
- Health and Power can get outside of the box if they are too high.
Thank you for making it, I had fun! You should finish this idea to a certain level where it isn't get the above minor problems so it becames action packed and more fun! :)
Very good implementation, I love how you have done the restrictions.
Gfx are cool too but what is this experimental music? A standard breakbeat drumloop with fast hats?
Next time please use a color for the bullets that can bee seen on the background. Red on blue is not very good and I have even mistook it with a particle once. Yellow would be a better choice maybe.
Challenge accepted!
The rule to make every side connect makes this game really hard. I managed to get a score of 7 from 10 rounds... But it's a nice idea, just implement a restart option!
Very nice, I played Ace Attorney before and this is almost the same so I think the implementation is flawless. I like the gfx and sounds too. They set the mood right. After all this is a school project. :) Evolution is only in the topic but it has kittens! :D
And how should I know how you want to play the game?
Why you call finding the big ass 'Play' text in the menu 'hunting'?
But all right I choose 'Applet' then for you...
Well I actually was thinking about this but I settled with this game is about tactics so it's in the game that you need to find out how to achive the goal. The goal and the rules are clearly stated on the help screen - I hope - and I hate tutorials and stuff like that I bore myself to death and end up exiting and never play that game again. You know Quake hasn't got a tutorial either...
Thank you for playing! I'm happy about you got involved and that you love the basic idea. You've made my day with this comment! :)
About post-compo... if it's get good feedback I may improve the graphics and add sound and music too. Mavbe some I do some balancing and difficulty settings would be nice too. We will see but currently I have other - demoscene releated - projects going.
lurkingshadow: Maybe it hasn't got the focus - try clicking on it. Or maybe you didn't read the description below the game you need to use W and S to navigate and SPACE to select menu option. Sorry I haven't mentioned it here too.
Nickolai51: Thanks I'm trying to be organised as much as I can. Normally I would do a better OOP design but in these LDs there are not so much time to think about that or redesign... :)
Thank you guys your feedback means a lot! :)
Puzzlem00n: There is a win condition! You have to find all of the diamonds. :) Watch the walkthrough video!
Rex Peppers: Checking yours shortly! ;)
Jeremias:
- There is a chance that you can't find much sulphur in the beguning and traveling through the map will cause evolution so in this case you may be glad you have oil and a car. :)
- You can get the diamonds wihout discovering them using up diamonds. This is just for helping the progress and preventing you from stucking. Obviously you don't want to use them all up! :D But because ther is no scoring implemented it really doesn't matter now...
- Oh, okay found it. Thanks!
- Well it seams people likes the game so I may improve it. Will remember you then!
Richard Matey: It's also on the help screen that you can press F1 to display it on any screen.
Wish I Was an Astronaut: XD Thank you! The yellow thing supposed to be sulphur btw but yes, if you let then nature will rule the land! :D
TwilightFlandre: Thank you! :)
JaJ: Thak you! Yes, you are right. Everything in the game is balanced so the player can play no matter how bad the generation is. The evolution can reveal or hide resources so there is a potentional problem for the player, but right now the game is only kinda a showoff until levels or somthing like that is implemented. ;)
BumpkinRich: Thank you! Glad you watched the walkthrough. After all this is what differs from the old era - you can find information on the internet of a game if you are struggling and share tactics with each other. :)
vigrid: I tell you I myself need to think sometimes what key is what but it's like when you set keys for the guns in Quake - you will get used to it with time. I really don't like using 2 hands to control a game where you shouldn't. I like to hold my beer and drink while playing or grab some chips... :)
Sanguine: Getting all the diamonds is not clear enought? 8O If I continue the developement then I want a mission/challenge mode or something. ;)
marudziik: Yes, animation would have been great but gfx was made in a hurry and I don't really have tha patient to do that. I thought that I could get some audio in but I never done an audio engine before so I used the time for other things instead to ensure the game will be playeble at least. :)
Thank you all for viewing my game and for the opinions, I really appreciate them! :)
Jorjon: Thank you! :)
RobProductions: I am as much of a programmer as an engineer so consider yourself lucky to se some programmer art from me! :D Anyway I may improve this idea and then it will be more visually and acoustically appealing. :)
Syarahsy: I am glad you enjoyed it, thank you! :)
evilseanbot: because I can't draw a Jeep... :D
tripleVisionGames: It seems everyone like the basic idea and the flaws prety much had been pointed out, so I thought after the Function demoparty (28-30 sept) I get it into the October Challange and make a real game out of it. I need a graphician and a musician for it though.
Puzzlem00n: No problem, but the zip has a password set. :) Well I have set almost all my contacts here but I'll put them in my about box too.
Puzzlem00n: Oh, it's empty. 22 byte. I think there is something wrong here. :)
Puzzlem00n: It's the same as before it seems. Let's use e-mail to continue this testing now on. ok? It's in my about box.
mohammad: Thank you for rating but next time try to be more constructive in the comments. ;)
michax: From the ingame help - which is also in the screenshoots: "E - toggles vehicle mode"
mdkess: Thank you! I hope it will bacame a real game soon. :) Details comin'!
Thank both of you for playing my game! :)
SusanTheCat: Next LD I will have a base code specially for this purpose I swear! :)
kddekadenz: I never used Linux in my life and never want to either so I didn't tried the release on that platform. The ports was done automatically by Processing. As for the zip, I used PeaZip how I used to use it. If you or someone know what is the problem then please tell me!
SFX: Try 'Give me some help' from the main screen maybe... Also it is in the screenshots.
heuermh: Oh, and someday I never. I have some Linux System Administrator friends and they hate to use Linux. They all say Windows is more reliable, stable and easy to setup - so I'm sold on that! :D Anyway thanks for the library I was going to make my own for gamepad support but with that it will be easier. Btw the gfx is - digital - hand drawn! :)
davidwparker: Yes, for the same reason the first entries I tried was made in Processing. ;) I like how easy to make any kind off application in it. It is really the best environment for any kind of software rapid prototyping.
iandioch: Thank you, although it isn't finished. I just didn't put anything in it that hasn't got a reason. It was hard to get just those features in what can show the most out of the idea.
Misfit: It will be soon I hope. I still need a gfx mage...
Thank you all for trying out my game! :)
Gabriel: Thank you! :) I enjoyed your game too and love the random level generator in it. I will let you know if I am going to use it but I'm a guy who writes his own from everything from ground up. ;) As of mine, I will not make a detailed article about it because I want to develope this idea further - I need a gfx mage for that though. But the source is there as it's need to be according to the rules... ;)
goffmog: If I haven't got the idea of minerals by the time I have done the terrain generation then it wouldn't get any functionality so I was lucky I guess. :)
Datw: Is this mean that the help is not explaining the rules very well? The only goal for now is to get all the diamonds. It is like this so you can get the idea and the possibilities in 10 minutes of playing.
tcstyle: Yes, as I sad before everything is balanced in a way you can play and try out the features and not for challenge. :)
whilefun: There is no real proper way to play this game now. There are a set of rulez and you free to roam the land. The maximum you can get is a goal of getting all diamonds! :) Thank you for taking a peek on my entry!
Nice and simple. Not really about evolution in my opinion but it's fun to play, but a little short. You shouldn't complain about your pixel art skills, sprites are okey. Music is also good - not giving me the mood though. The CRT effect is awesome! :)
Maybe some more specific stat collecting would give it some spice. Like have to find out what kind of guy she likes, getting information from the other girls...
Sorry, my graphics card isn't have what it takes to display circles and rectangles so I get "No suitable graphics card" error message...
"Roar" - Any dinosaur XD
This is a very good idea for a 4 hour entry. Science and religion ping-ponging with quotes. I like it. What is surprising is that you implemented momentum for the paddles. It's nicely implemented but it just make me loose every single time. There should be an option to select sides!
Btw, the description on your site says 'A' and 'S' not 'A' and 'X'.
I don't know why the game ends, there are still living stuff on screen. Maybe they are dying in the same time and allways it seems. So I can't get the whole thing of this. But it's nicely done. Don't seem to have bugs, just needs more explaining maybe.
Nicely done. Good idea and simple realization. It isn't clear why the population dies in some turns but I managed to do 1 objective so far.
When I played I noticed I hold X continously but then I can't click with the mouse because the game interprets those in a wierd way I can't really describe.
Anyway, nice gfx and I am not sad because of the dying cat population - I hate them anyway... I like dogs you see...
Hey! This is the best platformer implementation I played so far. You even implemented jumping right! :) Love the NES gfx and the music is really fitting. Not sure what triggers the evolution but it's nicely balanced for a score attack game. Level 1 and 2 are besically the same but 3 gives you some variation. Very good design!
The only thing I miss is the ingame restart option because I don't like dying for playing a new level. Oh, and once I saw a diamond spawned in the wall. Is that intentional?
Anyway, thanks for this little gem! I'll sure play it even after rating ends. :)
Gfx and audio nicely fitting together in this one. I didn't feel the evolving AI in it though.
There aren't so much features sadly but I'm happy about you making it better post-compo.
I can't understand why you have called it a quits. Ths game could be awesome.
You need something to distinguish between the type of workers and don't know if they are really getting stronger by fusioning them.
Also I have gotten an error somewhere.
Nice concept and music is awesome! :) Please make this into a full game soon!
If no link then it didn't happened.
Well it's a nice simulation but I can not consider this a game.
There is a lot of information on the economics screen I can't understand - so badly that I didn't see the 'Get Sample' action there.
Why can't you select the spieces on the genetics screen? And it needs a lot of explanation too!
Not only you can click through the display at the bottom but the playfield is higher priority. So if there is something under then you can not click on anything on the display.
The whole thing is too complicated for me it may e good for manager simulator lovers but it's just so slow it's getting on my nervs. And I don't have hours to play. Especially in an LD you need to concentrate on showing everithing you want in 10 minutes at most.
But anyway this concept is a good idea! Gfx and Music is okay too.
Well I'm not pleased to see a big area of the playfield with all the creatures in it is unacessable or you can stuck if you go there - AND you don't have a way to restart the game.
It's just unbelievable you did this in 48 hours. You must have a pretty "evolved" base code there... :) Anyway nice gfx and RPG elements it has. I had fun playing it!
Nice but short. Maybe you could make a larger level with more spaced out Es. It's disappointing to have something that can walk on land swim in the bottomless seas even though if it can breath under water.
It's annoying that the creature stuck in walls in front of it.
You didn't structured your code in a way the game can be reset? Now that is the worst practice in programming. It means you hardcoded everything. It must be the first thing when you done with the game design to design the structure of the program code! If you don't do this than later you can't change anything at will because everything is in one flow and they depends on each other. Hard to read and it's almost impossible to find bugs in it...
Hey! Pretty nice First Person Puzzler you made! :D I liked it. A little slow for me as I was playing Quake III intensly back then. Good gfx, particles are going through the walls though. You even have very good music. My blood pressure went up a lot on the jumping part because of it. :)
Weel I don't know if I've beaten it or not. It didn't show any ending just the old guy sad I got the things - there was a closed portal though in the room. It was so easy I don't know if it was really the end. :)
The only thing that's bad is that the books are hitting the wall when you are near them so you can't shoot. But other than that everything worked fine.
I just love how you can fight in the air DragonBall style. The shadows are awesome and music is really nice! This game is fun to play over and over. :)
The only thing is when you use your special power the computer isn't have a chance. If you add a bar for energy which regenerates slowly then this problem would be easily solved.
Great work man! :)
Very good and nicely done. But it needs more explanation IMHO. I was loosing and loading up the opponents circuits to find out how this whole stuff working but there are circuits that are not making any sense and they are winner ones too.
I don't like chocolates but I like this idea though I think it would be better if not the chef but the chocolate recepies evolving based on what the costumers like.
I encourage you to finish this game! And don't worry I have done 3 LDs in a row learning a new platform. It's a fun thing to do and a great oppurtunity! :)
Hey I used this machanism too for my terrain generation - it needed some modification ofcourse.
Btw nice concept and I like how you used the red and blue together like a pro. :D
My highscore is 93.
Don't see how this game is releated to evolution but I think this would be a great start for paralell universes. :)
A bit slow on my computer so I don't get into controls and such but I can tell you I love the animation on the horse! But what happened with the waterfall? I looked better in the 2nd blog post.
The fact that you are not a programmer and you red a book on how to make a platformer during the jam makes this entry worthy in someway. But clipping... let's say the glitch is when you can actually stand on the platforms. Tiles glitching everywhere. I don't even have a clue on what you did wrong here.
Btw, nice programmers art from your girlfriend! :)
Hey, this is a realy good idea! You need to make a real game out of this. Oh, and I have stucked sometimes and was fast without blue pixels on me but that's all.
Nice and simple game with good graphics and music. The game suppose to exit after beating it like it says? It didn't do it...
Well I don't know if the game works right for me. The green things are easy to shoot and it isn't getting harder. The blue guy are unharmed I can't imagine how they can hurt. And lastly, after the 2nd upgrade the top left bar was filled just a little bit and the blue guys did not do anything. Is this right?
Anyway the game seems to be good. Nice art and music. The should be some more features because like this the 2 upgrade you get is useless.
I couldn't do anything in this game. I needed some time to realise that I am playing with the red dot, but it just moves slower and slower as it's gets near the center of the planet or what and that is all. You should explain what to do and how I think - it seemed so simple but apperently it's not...
Oh, and get rid of the dying screen or add a skip button to it. I takes ages to reveal the text.
And where is the button smashing? I was hope I can break my keyboard with this...
Hey! This one is good. I like how it plays although it was hard to find out. I liked the graphics and the music as well but it gets boring after the 10th time you play through the same level... you need to make some more.
I think aiming is pointless when they are angry or excited they just all over the place. I was getting the hurting sound sometimes when there wasn't any monsters around and I did not hurt. Lastly I think you should indicate somehow when the boss being hit.
Nice work!
I couldn't find out how the battle works. Clicking on the buttons bottom-left corner does nothing. It was hard but I figured out that it's realtime and not turn based and need to click the icons on the top-left corner. But I don't know how damage is calculated and I'm almost always missed. Moreover the other kitten isn't done anything but mine just died anyway from nothing.
Are you suppose to stuck on walls? And the text is off sometimes on the abbility selection screen. Oh, and why I need to let go of the mouse? Or why I have to use it? This is a bad control design.
Well I couldn't do the 3 high jump and that is level 2...
Also there is a bug when you don't wait for the momentum to go off and press the opposite direction you stuck.
This is very nice but it isn't let you enjoy the gameplay. Maybe it's only balancing.
*I played only the compo version!
Also guns are shooting through people if they are close. Sometimes they crib you into a corner and there is no way out.
Anyway it's a really cool project for a 48h jam. Good job!
I like this. You leave the solution entirely to the player and give him all the time needed - nice balance. Gfx and sfx are pure and simple as they should be.
Good entry, thank you!
This is a unique idea I'm sure of that. And very good too! But a lot of times the guy don't go back any after I stop BLAing.
The idea is good and the goal is alluring.
I couldn't do anything than open the front door and listen to Santa. No clue what to do! I saw that there is a walkthrough but this game isn't that good to make me read...
I don't get this. Ladders are jumping up one block when I place them and is not reaching the floor like that. Guys are walking in mid air and in the platforms. They are also going down on ladders but sometimes not or sometimes completly ignoring any ladder in the way but walk through them in the air.
So... ???
I like the moonwalk at the end. :)
I never ever see something like this. Moving with hooks and instakill? Awesome!
It's hard to see sometimes if you need to jump up to a 1mm higher roof or if need to jump over a gap but other than that it's nice. Especially liked the all red gfx. :)
I don't think you were sober at all while making this. SPACE to start, click to launch the 'what's her face' and then what? Those green things going straight into the middle where I respawn and eventually get me for sure. There isn't really a way to launch myself and don't get caught on those spikes or what are they.
Nicely done! I'll go and beat my brother in this right now. :)
Very nice! The controles are not very responsive for some reason but other than that this is a great game. Tank you!
First I thought 'nice gfx, this will be a good game' but then why should I hold down 2 keys to shoot diagonally when horizontally and vertically the goat stays there without holding any keys. Also the sounds are getting on my nervs.
Nice bug collection. People trying to go into the wall, stuck into people and other stuff, die with full health... Also that jump is killing me and music is very loud you need a volume control.
I couldn't find any money sadly just a lot of glitching out. :( The idea is good though.
Very nice! :) A little hard though. On the first level you just need to get the first man and run but on the second level there are rocket launchers.
There was some cases when I got a person in hand and still got hit buy the cops.
Nice idea and simple implementation. A little hard to know where are the things exactly but it doesn't matter much. Funny gfx and goon music. Thank you!
I love shmups but I miss shooting back badly in this. It lags a lot for me but I still think that the collision area is too small for the player. Nice misuc though. :)
Sorry I don't have the patience for this and for the long long long ass intro. Gfx looks decent and the mood is perfectly set in the begining scenes though.
I can not see fow could you play in this game. There is no tactics or action. I've just made 865 points - 328 kill, 128 souls and 40.04 distance - only by starting them and holding down SHIFT.
The gfx are nice and the music is somewhat listenable - not my taste though.
You need to add some explanation other than just the buttons to use - maybe telling 'for what' is a good start.
3273 Very good game. A little imbalanced on the special abbility side but I had the most fun in this. I love it! Thank you!
I personally don't like the topic of this but I admit that the gfx are very good - the fire is impressing. (I get that you are the villain here.)
Keyboard handling is bad though - there is no diagonal walking and there is a priority in the directions.
Also the gameplay is very boring. Just set them on fire and after that you only need to wait for the grail to keep them burning - that sound is really spot on though. Occasionally get the goat for points that are not good for anything.
So better game desing and keyboard handling for next time.
I think this a good idea but a terrible implementation. The spirits are moving way faster then death so it's impossible to catch them. I had some cases when hitting SPACE didn't cought them too. Also how is that Death can't go through stuff or move on land?
Sorry, I'll not wait for downloads and certainly not sign up for anything. Next time use a service that actually let you download like dropbox.
Won't start somehow. It literally don't do anything. :(
Nice take on the idea. Altought it would be better if you could get more points somehow, like hitting the black ship so you can upgrade the aliens further. Also if they have health you should indicate how they are doing or else it ruins the tactical aspect.
And I can't belive how slow this runs. There should be a lot of awesome world changing calculations in the background in this awesomeness - like it runs Seti in a 1000 instances in the background or something.
But don't worry! You will be better and better with each jam you attend.
I made my first ever AI too in this LD. :)
Nice game but I would rather not use momentum based movement here. Also you can go out from the screen to the left and kill as many heroes you want. Oh, and it would be good if you use something other that SPACE for start or use a timer because when the game ends the player most likely pressing SPACE for some more time.
Well it's not very responsive and screen shakes on slopes. I don't know if this is because the game is so awesome or my PC is that lame...
The idea is good though. Also nice gfx and music.
No suitable gfx card found... :( You XNA guys making some fancy visuals ey?
No suitable gfx card... Damn you XNA guy with your future hardware requirements! Why can't you make something less visually advanced?
I won on the first try. I can't see any other influencing factors then pure randomness on how the fights are resolved though. Also there should be something that shows when the next recruits come. But all in all this is a good idea and nice implementation with good gfx. Thank you!
Nice take on the theme but the control behaviour feels a little odd. I can't put my finger on it though.
So, all I understand is there are numbers at the bottom when I click on a building. If I click on them then they are appear on the right. I can pick 2 numbers but not all of them can be picked. Click on turn and awareness goes down and I get points. In 15 days it's not enough to get into the Super Villains LLC. And that's all. Oh, and there are many typos in the texts.
There are some bugs here. I was in another room and it droped me out to the level selection screen. Once I teleported through a wall and I even walked to the opposite direction.
It's a good game though. What are the hearts for?
I like the gfx and it's a good take on the theme. The guys are a overwhelming I couldn't find a way to push them back even a little. And don't really know how the abbility works on the far left.
What the heck is this? 8| This thing is pretty crazy.
BTW, the hat should follow the head movement and I think I heard the "painting hit the floor" sound several times when I wasn't supposed to. Also I couldn't get back from the outside so I'm stuck there.
I'm getting wierd gfx glitches when moving and sometimes when eating more them 1 goat tat the same time. Hmm...
Anyway, clean gfx, easy gameplay and ear pleasing silence. Nice half hour work! Cannibal goats... :)
Nice, but very hard - that's what she sad :) - without a difficulty curve. Oh, and what does Disney think of your right to use the franchise? :)
Very simple design with some programmer porn. mmmmm I'm lovin' it! :D
But I can't see how are you the villain here... anyway the pig is the best! :)
It lags badly for me, I couldn't done anything other than banging on things. :(
Nice narration though and I think I like to be a zombie. :)
Nope, I will never read something that lengthy especially with a font this bad and with a color that makes my eyes flowing out of my eyeholes. Other than that, "waiting for more players..."
On the secound level there was things with 2 bars above them and they can not be destroyed. Are they the heroes? Or I don't know which one is it. But why the 2 bars if they can not be destroyed?
The thugs are disappearing randomly as I summon another. How to take over the towns then?
I think sometimes the Thugs are not figthing when they reach the enemy.
And how should I know if a thing is on my side or is an enemy? They all look the same for me.
That is all. But anyway this is a good idea. I'm sad that I couldn't enjoy it. :(
It would have been easyer if you state somewhere here that this is a simon says game but I managed to found out finally. So my score is 17 :) and this is an awesome score for me!
Sfx are funny gfx is clean and gameplay is smooth. Nicely done! :D The only real negative thing is the ignored theme. It would be better if you put goats in at least. ;)
I would up this for the maze... :)
...although I don't think pixel based movement is a good idea here. Together with the momentum makes you stuck on the walls. To overcome this you need to implement slipping on walls - maybe using a circle for collision but that will look bad at the end of the walls.
The entrance or at least the exit should be signed somehow - it's hard to see even if it is a the same place every time. Like with a big ass yellow arrow pointing to it.
Also from the second level the sound is gone. Bug?
That's all I can say. Maybe it would be better if you concentrate only on one game and add actual game elements to this one - I don't know the circs. Anyway it's a nice 1-2 hours of work. Is this your first time? In that case you have a nice start! Keep up! :)
No suitable gfx card... this must be something awesome! :P :)
Thanks for playing! :) The text says that there are potions randomly spawning though. There are a moderate set of things in the game so I didn't thought this would be a problem. Proper gfx would be a solution...
Thank you all for playing!
TwilightFlandre: Thank you for pointing out the humor. I'm not too good in it but this game just screams for it! :) The AI is one of the many I planned as well as the traps and monsters - the latter doesn't even have an AI here.
Cambrian_Man: Thank you! Yes there is a chance for that and it will stay like that basically. Tha potions spawning randomly in your maze. This is why you have it and must defend it - the princess is in another castle. I have the different directions planned already. ;)
Gungnir: I'm happy that I could finish this in time. I was very sick in the weekend... :(
tripleVisionGames: There will be a timer on spawning enemies and building traps for start.
iandioch: That is intentional and most likely there will be other stuff the hero will have like armour. Thoes are stuff you just don't know. It gives some excitement to it and adds a twist to the tactical side. Besides that, I can't tell from people what's in there pocket just by looking at them...
Thank you again for playing and commenting! It's really helpful. I'll rate back as soon as I get to your games. :)
JacksGamesSucks: That's an I'm out of time thingie. They are just randomly wandering bats. :)
zenmumbler: Ok, we are going a little wild here for a little so bear with me. If you were a hero - let's assume that you are - the first thing you do before a quest would be what? Equipment yeah, but then the next is? Food yeah, there isn't any in this game though so what else? Potions! Yes! So there are only healing potions implemented yet and he uses them when his health goes below 50% - for now. You can not see in his pockets so you can't tell how many he has - here is a hint: 3 for now. Also you don't know about the armor he is wearing - you can get an idea of it through trial and error based observation though.
Thanks for trying!
StMatn: Thank you for playing! I know that people doesn't read but I'm not angry. :) There should be a lot of indicators here. Like maybe you don't know but the hero actually falling into the trap and have to climb out - giving you some extra time as well as taking damage - and that is why he is just standing there. Gfx will solve all these but maybe I'll try to use particles for indicating magic effects.
Drabiter: Then I shall do something about it! :P :) THX!
Puzzlem00n:
Thank you!
If there was decent gfx then the whole text would be 1 line after the story and if there were a short funny animation at the begining then there would be no need of any text...
That would be good if you could tell the conditions on that bug but hopefully redesigning will solve it.
I'm glad you liked the Hero's ramblings that is a cardinal feature. There was more planned but it was hard to implement the event monitoring of the AI in Processing.
Linux? Seriously?
Yeah, I can not really say that this is a game either but I liked Linger In Shadows from Plastic too so...
I felt like I stuck in something at the portal or what. Visually everything is in place but I think the walking noise kills it a little and music is very loud I can hardly hear the voice in my head. :) Maybe frequencies are racing in it.
Hahaa! This is good! I love the angry faces it's a nice touch. Only 2 things: they should speed up when all the ships are gone and it's bad that the game quits when all aliens dead. Well I don't know if the latter is because of the Android structure - I just recently started learning it. :P
Anyway, love the idea, simple and clean implementation. Thanks!
I don't get what to do with the items and how to get more. Controls are very awkward!
Interesting idea but the moving - "sliding on ice" - mechanic kills it. Level design is cool!
I gotta admit that I love point-and-click so it's up to you if you believe me that this is a master piece. :)
I don't know about what would some background music do to the mood.
I got bored on level 5 but it's a good puzzle idea and a good implementation for an LD entry.
I haven't see anything like this in my life. :) I get the idea but it's a little hard. Maybe with a little practice... I got scared by the sfx by the way. :)
It seemed epic allright until I found out it starts fullscreen and only escapes with Alt+F4. Sad. The idea is really cool though. I would love to see this on my phone.
Very good! I always wanted to be an imageprocessing algorithm myself. :) Well, my degree is partly from it but I like them more now. :D
Well, I won I guess. But these decisions aren't made any sense. The basic idea would be a good one though. Oh and the "lol you died" song is very loud. Also 'R' seems to randomly takes back to the title screen or restarts the current scene.
Boring - action comes very late.
The music is nice but isn't fitting the slow paced action.
The shrinking mechanism is a pretty good idea but the implementation could use some more thinking. I can't put my finger on it though, sorry.
It needs a lot of ballancing I think. Ships are too fast to shoot them down or bypass bullets to get a chance to shoot.
And you don't have to flash colors or use just the basic 3 to make the game look oldschool. Look up some VCS games on YouTube - if you don't want to play them by your self - to get the idea of the color usage.
Fullscreen :( Also don't take the control from the player without making it clear to them. Clipping isn't that good - I stucked on walls. Space isn't always shoots. This renders it unplayable to me.
Very nice unique idea. There are lots of bugs though due to design I think. But some can be intentional IDK.
You can only move things within the purple areas. This means I can not change intermediate points if they are out or I can if theay are in another purple area. This makes it a little cumbersome to handle. I would do it like having the control points stay in the purple area let the intermediate points move but sign - with an X, red color or whatever - if they are not in the purple.
Another thing is the view can be moved but the text isn't move with it.
Last but the most annoying one is if you select a point and click away outside of the purple area the selected point jumps towards.
Other than these I liked hoe the game plays. Especially the shooting thingamajiggi. I used something a lot like that in one of my real time data analyzing software for finding local minimums. :D
Nice for minimalism. I would expect moving blocks to take me with them though - I saw it fixed. Level design is good and it hardens just fine. (That's what she sad.) Maybe some z-ordering would be good so the guy isn't shows under the blocks - gives more feel of height.
All-in-all it's ok, but please never make a game fullscreen by default again!
Nice and easy. I haven't realised the white things hurt the ship at first and was hard to see what's happening - behind everything - and find out what to do when the arrow appeared.
I like the idea. It's simple and action packed.
You should finalize a line when the mouse pointer goes out of the screen so the player can keep up with the action while not being so precise about the moves he makes. (clicking all around the place wildly)
Awesome idea!
Cliping isn't working very well though. Balls are constantly going through lines and sometimes they freak out just by their own.
Music is quite fitting.
Thank you all! I'll rate back shortly.
mrexcessive: The "Web" version should work for everyone with Java installed - with full JavaSound or something the SoundCipher library documentation says. But if you look closely, I'm sure you can find other versions that might work. :)
Cyborg771: Ear training is not an easy task but I'm sure most poeple can get to this basic level in a little time. Also there are other ways to train and different things to learn - I wasn't aiming for a full featured educational game in this competition though.
I should point out that SoundCipher is not a very good library in means of control over playback and usability. It's barely do it's job.
Make A Game: Outstanding! Not just children needs ear training it isn't natural to learn these kind of skills in every day life for everyone. BTW I wanted to play back the whole phrase but the SoudCipher library don't have the necessary functions sadly. :(
dick_claus: Sound Cypher makes it very difficult to control the playback so I couldn't do that sadly. I wanted to make a button for playing only the last found and the current note only though.
Thank you all trying this quick sketch. Maybe later I'll try to improve it, perhaps I change playback library. Also I might add a practice mode where you can szelect which intervals you want to practice.
I love this one! The graphics are bad on my card and I'm a bad typer though. :)
Insomnia is the best thing a programmer can get from life!
Bots killing me almost instantly after start and there is no retry so it renders this game unplayble. Also I'm not hearing any sound. Better luck next time!
You need to work on the controls as they are not so responsive. The idea is nice though.
Hey, this is very cool! At first I thought it will be sloppy to control it like that but the fast paced action made it work. Good job!
Nice! It's good to see that 8bitmooc works.
When I jump and hit a platform from below it sticks until I release the jump button. In this state I can not move but if I stuck on a previous entity then they can move together. I don't know if it's a bug or not but it's wierd.
Various bugs in this one.
Like enemies are coming in from the bottom and get teleported up on the hills after they are fully visible.
You don't redrow the upper row of pixels so junk stays when ball goes out of the screen.
...things like these.
I would let the gamer abandon the current ball and choose another instead. Also it's very oring at first as enemies are slow.
I have nothing to say. Everything feels ok in this short little entry. Nice job!
It's hard to tell how much oxygen you have in the bubble or if there is enough in the air poket to refill it. This makes it very hard and confusing along with the swimming mechanic that makes moving less controllable.
I like the idea though it's sad that you couldn't add all things you wanted. Maybe in post-compo. ;)
I see blue rects at the bottom and later red and green ones at the top but other than that there is nothing so I have no clue... Windows ver
The applet only plays sound for me and it isn't stopped after closing the page. Haven't tried the other alternatives as they aren't worked for me before anyways.
It's nice overall but there are cases when the light colored guys just spawn dead and that makes the level impossible to do. (I know there is a skip but I consider that cheating.)
Thanks! I had fun while playing.
It's not bad idea but it's a little hard to tell if guards are there and they are seeing you or not. Also I don't get why there is a 5 sec delay inbetween levels.
Oh, cool game and seems to be a unique idea. I don't really get how speaking or bribing counts though.
stewthepoothank: you! I know about it but there are worse things than that so I didn't spent any time to think about that. later...
lurkingshadow: thanks! :) I want to do that actually but I spent too much time on RL things so collision with the falling blocks didn't made it in time. (I am seeing clearer now and will rewrite some parts so the whole collision system will be easier to implement.)
This game will be my #1GAM entry as well so there will be improvements! ;)
isharacomix: Always jumping? It can work but may become confusing when the collision with the falling block will be added. I'll need to think about that. You don't have to control both mechanics exactly the same time, though with the obstacles added it may turn out to be necessary at times. :)
Arrow-x: Glad you liked it! :)
vrld: With the added static walls and spikes it yould be more difficult. Also the collision with the falling block would make it harder as those could crush the guy.
little-automaton: I don't realy understand what you mean by bonding the components more. However, I'm happy I came up with an interesting idea. :)
Thank you for trying out this unfinished game of mine. I'll rate back soon!
Too many booms in this LD. :)
The controller says right after I start it: "Your application encountered a fatal error and cannot continue." :(
Galaxy mini 2 - Gingerbread
Jumping isn't feels right and there were cases when the guy stayed in air after the platform. Much more work needed on this entry.
I almost had fun, but then there is the control scheme. Like G and RSHIT? What have you there - clearly not a hand.. And I would rather go with UP as jump then SPACE. The thing is, with these control mechanics it feels like a strategy game, but I so want an action one. Can't attack easily at will makes it impossible though. I quite like the gfx! Also I couldn't exit to menu with the button somehow.
Hey, this is something new! I like the idea. I haven't felt too involved in the story. Like how you used the morale to limit possible choices. Sadly I felt that I'm on a set route.
Very good entry. I only missed the sound. Otherwise it's done very well. Controls are spot on.
Using the gun not helps - they all are quick drawers. Logs are sparse, I have managed to get to day 6 - it got boring afterwards. I like the concept just needs to work on more.
Can't figure out how to play... (didn't rate)
Didn't see how is the theme correlate to the idea - the prev and skip button somewhat did it though. Music is annoying. And basically it's a generic rage game with only one mechanic that's get boring fast. Feels finished though so good job.
Nice game! Designing a puzzle is hard in 48 hours. I have found that after getting a starting point from the hints, you need to do guess work. Having 3 hearths helps with that. After that, it's only following the hints.
Very good game - definitely! Music wasn't annoying and gfx are fitting. Had great fun completing it. Thank you!
Well done! Good puzzle game in 48 hours.
It's a nice concept but I found it unplayable. Hard to climb back to the ship, takes too much time to get to the ship even. The oxygen isn't quite enough at first to get to the ocean floor.
That high pitched boing sound isn't fitting. But otherwise a solid entry. I have never saw a meditation game before. It seems to be not so meditation inducing for the player.
Very janky at best. That dynamic shadow is meh. assets are very basic and I think these are the default shaders. The death is not pronounced enough - like didn't recognized when happened. Everything is dark and suddenly got teleported is exactly like moving the mouse like 5 mm-s and turn 180+random degrees with it. Very disorienting.
Space doesn't start the game the second time - it works first though. I have saved some turtles.
Hey, thank you for the feedback! I will finish it.
The fish are random, btw. They are spawning randomly at the bottom - max 5 at the time on screen - and randomly swimming left and right. They float, but sometimes, can hover. Even can change speed for a short time. And they get attracted by Wigly when close enough.
Not sure what's with the smack collision test, it's a simple AABB test with the flinging tail area and the whole fish (excluding fins). When the fish catch you, it's a collision between the worm's head and the fish's mouth area. Will check it.
There are too much hacks at the moment everywhere to worry about bugs. Next up is cleaning and weeding out. There is also a half implemented power up in there, what's got out last second 'cause couldn't find where it failed - probably tiredness. That was meant to be the way to kill deeper level fishes..
All spawning and moving is tweakable though.
Thanks again for the rate and feedback!
@gnevesdev: oh, please don't! :) I have literally vomited hacks and bad code everywhere in the last 5 hours. Will clean it up next week.
@retrome: Man, I don't know what happened with the fish. :) Hitboxes should be fine, and the smash move checked before the nom nom. Having the score on the hud is something I forgot, yes. Sorry! Point like 1 per frame, 100 for blue, 250 for yellow and 500 for red fish.
@maple Thanks for playing! Feels nice to hear some try to actually beat the game. Was worth to go super haste mode and add an ending. At first, I only wanted a blank screen with a "Congrats!" text, but then I drew that pic instead. (Idea was to make disappointment with the win screen and because you dieing a lot, the death screen needs to be entertaining.)
Yeah, the text is unreadable. Originally it was in the right bottom part, where it looked ok. Then In the last some minutes I realized I have never gave a name to the damned thing. So I added the name in the title screen and then the text needed to move.
As for the emulator suggestion, there is a link to mGBA on the GitHub page. Probably need to add it here and to the release description text also.
Nice experiment, I assume you are learning OpenGL. I myself entering only in these Jams to learn something completely new. If you can't do decent music, but want to show that you can play it with your engine, than add it into a menu or title screen - less annoying.
Also, controls. UI is not something that needs to be designed for the most part. It's several iterations of tryall and error. It's rather learning it from others' experiences. It would be better to use just WASD here.
Oni thing to say is I couldn't get what is the goal. Why am I playing? If you add something for it, then this could feel like an actual game.
Controlling the guy is very awkward - waiting for the animation, moving while attack, sometimes it just didn't attacked. Music is bad and annoying. Gfx are almost acceptable. BTW, empty options screen? And can push buttons after start.
Nice game, basic idea. I have never saw an exploding rabbit before. :) The random effects are not giving anything to the game, just making it unplayable. Sad, it could be a good thing.
It was not clear to me what is the goal of the game. Do I have to last a certain amount of time or do I accumulating points? I think spending 1 extra day on it and enter in the Jam would have a benefit. I saw there is another lever or something, so not sure, but I haven't feel the theme in this one.
I take it as a children's "stay put where you are" game. And for that, it's well done! And it is certainly another take on the theme.
Very good game! It's hard to controll though. Making the player getting back to spawn a lot is getting boring after some time - that isn't fun.
Weird concept. If you couldn't tell what door leads where then is it really a puzzle game? Trying to guess and then lost your was is confusing. Patience wont help because it's get boring fast.
Very well done! It was a hard eatin'. But all in all, I had fun. And it's another take on the theme. Congrats!
Good gfx, nice audio - music is not annoying surprisingly. The only thing to point out is the collision with walls. Can't tell where I will hit them exactly. Otherwise it's a solid entry.
Nice minimalistic gfx, annoying relax music. (Music can be turned off at least, that's a plus.) I liked the old sharks - slow and only 2 teeth. Not much AI. Needs instructions though! Using dash is unclear. Also fish should hover by nature.
Very good, has everything. Music sets some mood. I like the 2 different mechanics that you need to split your attention.
Tried the game but no keys are working.. (didn't rated ofc)
Couldn't read the text well, it would probably be better to advance it on a trigger. I have tried 'A' but it didn't worked. Then I saw that written in blue on blue (that is bad) with acircle. So assume it's a controller button thing. Music was very annoying, it hurt. Sorry! About the theme. I haven't found any progression. So there is nothing deeper in it.
Not much in it, but what is there is good. And I think I have not killed bees in a game before as a main objective. Good job!
That guy will not go to work if it's up to me. Seemingly there is no ending? Liked the bad-dream things and the sounds are the perfect ones for a compo entry. The basic idea is ok, but I can't see how it's going "deeper and deeper".
Solid entry. The music almost made me fall a deep sleep.
I acknowledge you have put time in programming different game mechanics. Sadly neither of those feels finished. Music was annoying, gfx are basic. When you change game mechanics like that, it's not easy to find out what to do. Also, in the first level, I have stuck because I didn't get the right most flag and there is no way back up. Does it need a reset button and/or a way to go back to the title screen?
Actually, you can judge it by watching back the VOD on Twitch.
Not bad! I don't know if there is a good ending, but I ran for some time. The tripping over collision is wrong, btw.
Rocks and the guy hovering above ground? Bad and annoying music. (A turn off music option?) Gfx are all over the place - like they aren't fit together. (Loved the eyes on the fish though.) Couldn't see the deeper part in it. Also I saw a fish swimming backwards.
Definitely a new take on the basic idea. I don't want to know how you came up with it though. Liked the bloody part. And it actually have bosses. Nice!
