LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Prototypes and Dust by AdroitConceptions 2018-04-28T21:36:39Z

Very cool mechanic, and good puzzles for it too! I had trouble figuring out that you could move the platforms without standing on them - the yellow highlight was confusing. I especially like level 5, where you think the level is simple, but then the core mechanics show you hidden stuff! Fun game.

INSiTU by tulipekoni 2018-05-14T23:39:30Z

I quite enjoyed this game! The animation and sound that occurs during the transitions between the modes is so satisfying! Especially so since it's the core idea of the game, and you see it so often. Great job there. The puzzles were fun. I feel like some of them could have been shortened a bit while still getting across the idea of each puzzle. It got tedious sometimes when I accidentally pushed a block *slightly* too close to a wall at the end of a puzzle and had to restart. Also, it was quite confusing at first figuring out that there were two different button types, but I figured it out. Really great job on the intro, I was smiling the whole time. Overall solid entry, I quite enjoyed playing!

Rythm is Lava by egordorichev 2018-04-25T04:41:11Z

Nice animations and music/sfx, and neat concept that's both puzzly and action/rhythmy. I especially like the lava animation, and how it changes speed based on different parts in the song! But to me the level design was frustrating. I spent a few minutes flailing around and figuring out how the players move, that they share HP, they can push buttons for each other, how the lava blocks work, and that standing on platforms is a safe zone from the lava. These are all cool concepts, but being introduced to them all at once, I felt overwhelmed. Plus the level design was too challenging for me; I got stuck at the level with all the 1-block corridors. Anyways, I hope this feedback helps. :)

Cartenstein by Iluvatar 2018-04-30T21:33:10Z

The game's setting and story are quite nice. It captures the mystery and excitement I felt when I did collectible card games as a kid. I like that your progress is always visible in the top left, and that you allow finishing the game with only 10/12. I wish you walked faster across the rooms, and I thought the skeleton card behind the curtains was just in a random spot, I only found it by clicking randomly everywhere. Overall good game!

Whispers From the Soul by Sfey 2018-05-05T20:32:43Z

Sounds and effects make this satisfying to play! I wish there was a lot more visual indicators of things like enemy health, enemy spawns, whether you've taken over the shrines. It's a cool base idea and I wish you luck in improving it!

Remote Cuddles by Kobrar 2018-04-30T02:27:50Z

Web build worked fine for me. Really funny game! When I died multiple tiles it was frustrating re-doing the same beginning of the game again and again, so I finally just played with Mr. Cuddles at the start, which was very enjoyable. I wish there were frequent checkpoints in the level. Also minor bug, if you type any command before typing COME, the game crashes.

Beet Boy by Ryan Bishop 2018-04-29T19:05:21Z

I love games like this where the game world feels so pleasant to be in. Great job!

It was a bit confusing figuring out how everything worked at the beginning of the game; I wish the game taught me the controls as I went along. Also I wish it was mentioned somewhere that you can double jump, that took me a little while. And I echo previous comments about damaging the boss, multiple players glitch, and getting stuck like the above picture.

The level design was fun and flowed well! The art and the level design make the world feel rich and lively to me. Lots of detail in the art. I really enjoyed this game, great job! Also I wonder if it's possible for you to still add your teammate to the Ludum Dare entry.

Barcelona Secret Party by yscik 2018-04-30T02:12:54Z

The world's colors and the party effect are pretty! I had fun, especially at the end when narrowly outrunning police. I started 8 or 9 parties on my third try. I feel like some more depth to the mechanics would make the game better, or maybe being able to see further ahead, and having doors be clearly marked, so you can be more strategic about your path. It's short and sweet as it is though!

TIMBER by ponker 2018-05-05T20:59:16Z

Very polished for a jam game, great job! I wish the game was faster-paced. Part of that though is me not playing many strategy-type games. It's really cool zooming out and seeing your whole tree, and also climbing up and down to manage your towers.

No-Brain Jogging by gonutz 2018-05-05T21:36:43Z

Short and sweet! Feels like a game I would have played on coolmath.com back in elementary school and loved. It's short and sweet but simple, maybe more mechanics (if you had time) would make it even better.

Wrong Priorities by Bela Bohlender 2018-04-29T18:13:28Z

THAT WAS SCARY. I should have expected it though, since 1. it's a horror game, 2. I get very scared by horror games, and 3. it's VR. When I died to the wardrobe monster, it felt unfair since the game didn't tell me what was happening or how to defend myself, so it felt cheap. I know that technically this kind of teaches the player how to play, but it's not fun here because failing means getting a huge jump scare out of nowhere which put me in a bad mood.

Anyways I got to round 4 or 5 before losing in the computer game, and I was too scared to try the game again, haha. The graphics in the runner game are great, good choice having totally different scenery in each stage. And the game itself is fun.

Overall the game has a good concept and executes it pretty well! The game has a nice flow (minus what I said above). The sounds and lighting effects are well-made and well-timed. The monster sound effect when you lose was well made, but personally I think it may scare people way too much - the creepy room sounds, the lighting, the anticipation, and the red eyes already convey the mood enough, imo.

Also, I'm a noob at using my cardboard, but the magnet slider didn't work in-game, I had to reach in with my finger and touch the screen. Also that's impressive you didn't use an engine! You should add a link to the source code. Also, I'm pretty sure there's software you can use to record gameplay footage of your game, haven't used it myself but I've heard about it.

I hope you find my comments helpful. Great job team!

PE@CE by bwalter 2018-04-25T04:55:51Z

I think I did the same thing as Nyunesu's comment above. I entered the room requiring the "female" symbol key, the one with two hearts, and then left it, and couldn't get back, even when retracing all the levels. I softlocked twice to confirm this. In a game like this, where your objectives are intentionally cryptic, that's especially frustrating. Anyways, of what I played, the aesthetic and atmosphere are really well done! The player animation and mechanics are great. The level design with awkward jumps and timing wasn't so great in places; I think it could be made significantly easier while still being just as interesting.

Speed Phoning by TimBeaudet 2018-04-29T02:36:01Z

Quite an interesting concept, I feel this game actually provides a pretty good insight into using your phone while driving, and how dangerous it is. The starting puzzle with the top 3 pieces in place was reasonable and fun to complete, but the completely shuffled puzzle felt too hard. Well made!

Blind Vision by tsjost 2018-04-29T01:41:52Z

Neat concept and fun to play! I like the difficulty of the levels, I could easily see hard levels ruining a game like this. Great mouth-made sfx too, haha.

Cocaine McBain - A Farm Rush Adventure by Goat Toaster Games 2018-04-29T02:23:46Z

Polished! Beautiful pixel art (I love the running animation, that was time well spent), satisfying particles and sounds. The graphics were also very readable which is good for a game like this. Gameplay was short and sweet, and the difficulty was just right imo. The theme wasn't really deeply incorporated, and maybe the mechanics were a bit shallow, but still fun nonetheless.

Sportsball Adventures by GanonsSpirit 2018-05-05T19:57:29Z

Hilarious game from the time I read the description until I beat it. I was laughing the whole time through. The two enemy types and the level design are fun. I know you ran out of time, but more content would definitely be good.

Dungeon Solitaire by Lex 2018-05-05T22:37:54Z

Very cool concept! And well executed too. This could definitely be expanded on with more time.

Good Fighter by pndaa 2018-04-30T04:03:56Z

Fun game, nice job! The mechanic reminds me of Crypt of the NecroDancer. But the mood is totally different of course! It felt like the timing got out of sync of the music after a while, but I still had fun and survived the whole time. I feel like some strategy would make the game better, perhaps have an enemy type which you have to avoid, or maybe powerups to collect, to give you objectives other than just killing enemies. Maybe some attack combos. I'm just spouting random ideas at this point, haha. Good job!

Tipio's Grand Typery by NedStormFish 2018-05-05T18:43:35Z

Funny game! Were you inspired by Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing? :P The guess letters, trap letters, and spinning letters made it silly and fun. Like others, I think the trap letters came up too soon; maybe if they came up further in advance, and weren't only visible as you typed the letter before it. Other than that, well done, I bet the roguelike aspects would be cool if you had time.

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-28T21:59:28Z

Short and sweet, pun intended! Gets the point of the core mechanic across quickly, and is fun to play! I like the difficulty level, easy but still interesting. I wish there was more to the game though, maybe another mechanic, but I know time is limited.

Save Witch (Platformer + Puzzle) by pillowPillow 2018-04-29T00:34:07Z

Neat and cute game! When I saw the gif scrolling on the homepage I knew I had to play it later. It's a neat feeling to be controlling the cat and the bat like that. And the intro cutscene is charming. My main complaint is that the last level was pretty tedious for me. Once I knew the solution I accidentally jumped the cat off the edge to the right and had to restart, which was frustrating. Also it was frustrating to time the moving turret exactly with the shot; an indicator like a bar filling up to indicate the timing would help. It says "to be continued" - I think there's definitely potential for more content!

Zombie Soccer by JackLeHamster 2018-04-28T22:56:06Z

Hilarious concept and fun to play! You captured that wacky-flash-game feel. Small game, but fun.

Tweet Fighter by iamtalin 2018-04-25T07:54:35Z

Bird-acious! LOTS of attention to detail with the animations, text, and of course excellent bird humor everywhere. Great job on that. I feel like more time should have been devoted to gameplay though. I can't see much other strategy other than choosing randomly in a rock-paper-scissors game. Maybe there is strategy, but if so it wasn't explained well, at least to me. I didn't have much fun playing. But it was very entertaining to look and listen to the game!

Good Boy vs The Bad Boys by ludomyth 2018-04-25T07:38:24Z

Unfortunately, for both Windows versions I just downloaded, the "Press R to restart" popup is stuck visible in the middle of the screen, even when I press R again. I'd like to play if you fix this! asdfasdff.png

Good Boy vs The Bad Boys by ludomyth 2018-04-25T08:19:50Z

Great thanks for the buildy boi!

My first round I realized halfway through that I probably wasn't supposed to be destroying all the buildings LOL I went ahead and finished the job though, in 2:13.

I lasted 5:42. The last minute was spent defending one building, and that was quite intense and fun. This idea is really cool and pretty well excecuted! One change that I suspect would help is to weight Attack cards to be more common to draw the more Movement cards you have in your hand, and vice versa. I often found myself with a hand full of the wrong kind of card (both ways) and I had to just click them all and wait till I drew the kind I needed. Another note is not allowing more than 2 of one card type in your hand. And another note: possibly normalizing the RNG of "hard to aim" weapons - burst shot and laser, versus "easy to aim" weapons, red rocket and spray shot, since too many "hard to aim" in a row when you're in the wrong direction feels like there's nothing you can do.

The voice acting was great: it sounded good, wasn't repetetive, and was funny. Graphics are very well done. The fast-paced decisions about aiming your weapons and moving in a certain direction are quite fun and interesting. Great job!! One of my favorite entries so far!

Another possible design improvement: It's frustrating not being able to see what's happening on the other side of your city. Some ideas are: arrow indicators for faraway enemies, a minimap, or just making the map smaller.

TS 3001 by Alex Ferbrache 2018-04-24T04:02:27Z

Cool concept! The puzzles were fun and flowed well. And I like the environment, there's something neat about playing as a drone, shooting deadly enemies and solving puzzles at the same time. Definitely potential for more content.

The Place by KRP 2018-04-28T21:49:47Z

Very cool atmosphere. I like the puzzles, though toward the end it got a little bit tedious. Fun game, good job!

Stealth and Seed by Tony Redmer 2018-04-25T05:12:09Z

You guys made a very pleasant world! Easy on the eyes and ears, and charming. I really got a kick out of breaking the pots, and growing flowers everywhere. I'm sure you guys know that the gameplay is lacking, and the physics are rough. Glad you had fun making it though!

Robocalypse: Xtreme Pool Master by Devastus 2018-04-28T21:02:59Z

Very cool and hilarious concept! The art and sound are well made. I just wish the balance was more forgiving. Many turns it felt like I didn't have any options. Perhaps more turrets, and more arrows hover the holes would help. And also a visual for shot strength (like many other golf / pool games) and more forgiving / wider pockets would help.

aVOID by boats 2018-04-29T01:30:27Z

Fun to play once you get the hang of it. The graphics and the music add to the mood. Whenever I ran into multiple dead ends in a row though, it felt like I lost due to random chance (and I think I actually did). And when I didn't get any dead ends, it felt like I got lucky. I wish the randomness there was normalized. When I got a good run though, it was fast paced and exciting!

Misty Night by sleepyGrin 2018-04-24T03:06:02Z

Love the art and the music! I could stare and listen to this game for a long time.

LD41 by Juzley 2018-04-30T20:44:35Z

Quite fun! I scored 2000. It's just a slight twist on match-3, but it's a fun one, especially with the graphics and sounds. I'd be interested to see what your bigger plans were, I bet they would make the game more interesting if you had the time. Congrats on your first LD! :) Also the game ran fine for me on Win 10.

Escape from... something by Oxygenium 2018-04-30T03:54:12Z

It's simple but fun! The levels were pretty good, I just wish I had to spend less time waiting around. And I feel like some more mechanics would make the game more interesting. The little smooth animations everywhere add up to make the game feel lively, great job there. And though the graphics are abstract, the colors and the shadows make things pop.

I'm surprised this is only the second entry I've seen that references 420 :P And man, I feel you on the deadline rush, it happens every time for me, haha.

Quizoids by Dan Violet Sagmiller 2018-04-25T07:30:59Z

Kudos to the whole family for making a game! Maybe I'll try that when I have a family of my own...

I like that the concept is very easy to grasp, even for people who don't play games. It's neat that for the answers you don't know, you can figure it out by trial-and-error. But I feel like the pacing is much too slow for that - maybe more letters could spawn, and when you choose the wrong one, instead of losing a letter, you aren't allowed to shoot for 5 seconds. Anyways I know you're not looking for intense criticism, but nice job.

Dirty Pink by Carpin 2018-04-29T00:54:44Z

Fun! I got 2100 something. Well done atmosphere and graphics with the neon vibe, and tons of visual polish (I love the effect when you get hurt),it really shows that you had 5 people working on this game. I wish the ice cream scooper was more lenient, and that there was a visual cue for when left-clicking was disabled. And the customer cars moved erratically. Other than that it was quite fun to play! Great job team!

Rose-Coloured Dungeon Life by Junber 2018-05-05T22:18:16Z

Great job team, I imagine there were a lot of laughs making a game like this. The dialog is very funny and well-written, and all the graphics and animations are on point, lots of attention to detail. The combat gameplay is fun, I just wish the levels started off easy (and simple level layouts) and then progressively got harder. I like that you included waifu mode. Great job I had a lot of laughs!

ESC by kittyinthestudio 2018-04-28T23:35:55Z

Charming game! Like everyone else the baddie spooked me every time, haha. I wish it was explained that you could press L and R to move mid-air, and that the secret walls were easier to see (you had to tell me both of those when I played on stream). And the game was glitchy at times. Great atmosphere though and the graphics fit well!

Legend of Zoom by pkenney 2018-04-24T03:28:36Z

Well executed! Polished graphics, sound, and gameplay. Hilarious concept and a lot of fun!

Blitztris by ThatFrankGuy 2018-04-30T17:05:30Z

Wow, so pretty! So so so pretty. Sound and the overall mood are great too. Everything feels very juicy. I couldn't get the hang of the gameplay though. One time I survived a while and blocks stopped spawning, so I just ran into the edge and scored 130, which left me confused. And do the red bullets count as destroying blocks? I wasn't sure. Also after a while somehow all the buttons on the console stopped working, pressing them did nothing. I can't seem to reproduce it though. I found the mouse turning awkward - I always expect to be able to turn around 360 degrees. I also had the same frustration gyfis did. Anyways, I had some issues playing, maybe it's just me though. I still had fun though, and the juicy graphics and sound are top notch!

Zombie Golf by RahmKota3 2018-05-05T18:57:00Z

Hilarous premise and very fun to play! Great job! My only complaint is the controls were confusing to learn at first. It's weird how the initial shot's direction is timing-based, but the rest aren't.

Super Antithesis Kart by Lameosine 2018-04-29T01:05:40Z

Absolutely hilarious! Everyone did a good job. >:)

Demon Dash by superpokeunicorn 2018-04-29T17:46:23Z

Fun platformer. I like that once you have the color hat you want, it always felt possible to make your way to deliver it without killing any more enemies. The level design, enemy design, and the hat mechanics all worked together well. Good difficulty balance as well. I was confused when one customer disappeared from the "hat stop" and then reappeared there later. Maybe the customer request timing could be more clearly explained, maybe with visible timers, rather than being a black box to the player. That's a pretty minor thing though. Overall great job!

Don't Shoot (Visual Novel / Tac Shooter by tigerrenko 2018-04-29T01:18:10Z

Nice concept but I think you need more content to make it interesting. I didn't know about CloudNovel, seems neat. Also you really startled me with that super loud music at the beginning, and then no sounds the rest of the game :(

Talk Block Chronicles by Yokimbo 2018-04-25T07:14:31Z

Very short for a game, but charming and well put together! Music set the mood perfectly. I laughed out loud multiple times! I agree with your message about LD too.

Stealthy Frickin' Ninjas by herinque 2018-04-29T17:22:42Z

It looks nice, but like xmatos I couldn't figure out what to do. The game would benefit from some instructions on how to play.

Elemental Monk by Biterkid 2018-04-29T02:04:47Z

Neat concept, there were some interesting decisions I had to make with the resources and the elements. I feel the RNG should be toned down in places, and the rules could be made simpler to be easier to understand. Simple but nice graphics and music.

TypeRunner by ShiMapleLeaf 2018-04-30T17:14:30Z

Fun to play and great presentation! I just wish it went on longer, it ended so quickly. I think there's potential for more mechanics too; it's fun to see the obstacle, type in the word as fast as you can, and then properly time when you press enter.

PlatyPad by euske 2018-05-05T22:42:50Z

Wow! This is so so cool. One of the most memorable games I've played. Great concept and presented perfectly, with the website theme and the text copyable to the side and stuff. I think it deserves a lot of ratings; you should rate a bunch more games!

Searchlights by mahdi daneshvar 2018-04-28T21:24:24Z

Neat idea! I felt like all the mechanics were introduced from the get-go, and it was overwhelming, even though they're cool ideas individually (shooting trash to slow down searchlights, multiple guns). Definitely fun to play as is though, I like that you have to strategically shoot and clean up enemies, rather than just snipe them from afar.

SKYWOOOD PIER by designernap 2018-04-30T21:47:29Z

I love looking back and seeing all the wooden planks fly up into the air. I like the overall concept too, kind of parodying the pretentious reputation some walking simulators have, in a funny way, while the game itself is a walking simulator. Nice job, short and sweet.

Binary Blocks by Antti Haavikko 2018-04-29T00:09:23Z

Great mechanic and fantastic presentation! The cute blocks and all the animations and sounds were plentiful and on point. The mechanic is quite fun. I wonder if this game could help teach kids about numbers. My main complaint is that I wish upon failure you could keep your set of numbers and just adjust it, instead of having to start from scratch, which is frustrating.

Binary Blocks by Antti Haavikko 2018-04-29T17:13:21Z

@Antti Haavikko Ah, that makes sense, thanks for the explanation. That approach probably suits the game better. However, I think there could still be some way to reduce the frustration I had. Perhaps a middle ground where you get 1 try to "fix your mistake" with the same number set and order, and then your second mistake starts you with a fresh number set. Or maybe just making the difficulty curve more gradual would have helped me, increasing the number of numbers in you set by about 1 every level. I felt overwhelmed onthe first level with the full bar of numbers. Anyways just ideas, not trying to win an argument or anything. Also forgot to mention I got a real kick out of the hidden game :)

Karaoke Ninja by GastricSparrow 2018-04-28T23:20:13Z

Fantastic! Playing this game was a special experience. The mechanic is well implemented, and the level design explored it pretty well. My only complaint is that some spike placement is difficult to get over, especially early on in the game, and that feels frustrating / janky. There's also potential to explore the mechanic further but it's fun to play as is. Great job, really a special idea!

Shadowscape by Gonz0 2018-04-28T22:19:51Z

Very very cool! My only complaint is I wish there was more guidance in-game until you beat the first level, since it's easy to forget the controls and the objective when you're disoriented from being thrown in the scapescape.

text adventure platformer by Rs11s21n 2018-05-05T19:43:50Z

Cool graphics and controls, it feels like I'm playing an ancient computer game! :) I just wish the objectives were a lot more clear.

Space Skirmish by uberthulu 2018-04-24T04:13:36Z

Neat concept, and nice graphics and sound. Easy was fun, but I can't handle Intermediate, too much for me to keep track of, and the circles that surround you have tight timing to avoid. Fun game!

Platform Hero by Rombus 2018-05-05T19:28:08Z

It was fun frantically running around to try and school all the remaining dudes with seconds left on the clock. And jumping around the level and executing the arrows are both fun to do, even though they felt a little janky (jump is not floaty enough, and there's not enough of a pause before the first arrow crosses the line imo). I wish though that you didn't get reset back to level 1, otherwise I would have kept playing after level 3. And I wish it was explained that you had to school all the dudes to open the door, and the coins are bonus points, that was confusing. Anyways I still had fun, good job!

⏰ :alarmclock: by Stralor 2018-04-28T20:30:37Z

Great idea! I laughed out loud a few times. The humor fits well with the emojis. It felt about the right length for what it is, didn't overstay its welcome. My only complaint is i couldn't understand certain scenarios, such as the old lady, and warning sign + paper.

Overwhelming by Ziovoxxer 2018-04-28T22:35:46Z

The conce't isn't very unique to me, but it was fun to play! The colored lasers indicating blocks falling was a nice touch. I wish the blocks were significantly bigger, since it was easy to overshoot and walk off by accident. The fanfare music made me laugh because it was so loud, though it really should probably be softer.

Ballistic Skylines by invader 2018-04-30T20:32:13Z

Nice concept and graphics. It plays very slow though. I couldn't figure out any real strategy. The concept is cool though and has potential. The stars are nice-looking in fullscreen.

Mineman by Jolix 2018-04-24T04:25:37Z

Hilarious, lots of great humor touches! My only complaint is I wish there were a few less blocks, it got a bit tedious. It's a great humor game, but the mechanics are also fun to play even if it wasn't also a funny premise.

Guardian of the Depth by Animaster 2018-04-30T02:49:26Z

Once I understood what was going on, it was quite fun, and the mechanics have potential. Casting your line, doing the minigame, earning money, and catching rarer fish is a fun flow! The animations make doing things satisfying too. Like others, I wish the game taught me how to play - perhaps you could spawn near the fisherman with a text over his head "press X to talk to me", and the shop indicated that you could sell fish there. As well as the confusion that you can't bet with 10 aether. I also feel like the X and Z button could be merged into one button to make the controls simpler. Congrats on doing your first LD! :)

BEAT KILLER by Dragojt 2018-04-30T03:36:17Z

Fun and concise, nice job! I discovered that you can just mash the arrow keys to fire all the bullets possible. A penalty for pressing an arrow key that didn't match an arrow, such as deleting the next 2 arrows, might make combat more interesting. Also the bar that you line up arrows with was awkward; perhaps having "ghost arrows" like in DDR would communicate the timing more clearly. Also, , maybe some flying enemies or something would give the vertical arrows more of a use. Other than that I had a fun time with the game! It feels like it has potential to be bigger.

Sure You Can! by sidewalksleeper 2018-04-30T16:38:33Z

Hilarious and memorable idea! The intro cutscene was great, and the graphics are great all around. The gameplay got frustrating quickly though, even for me as a person who enjoys precision platformers. I quit on the upwards climb level. I think making the levels about half as long would keep them just as interesting while reducing frustration. Either that or adding checkpoints. I'd also consider adding an extra block to all the one-block ledges you have to jump off of. And it's counter-intuitive that some levels seem to require you to take damage. A restart button would be nice to have so I can restart once I've taken a lot of damage too. Anyways, aside from those things, you really nailed the presentation and the mood of your idea, good job! I love the title and the title graphic.

Thrust Vector by pogo 2018-04-30T21:07:39Z

Great game, one of my favorites so far. The turn-based thrusters are well tuned and fun to play with thanks to the ghost indicating where you'll go. Enemy patterns are interesting and fair. The art is excellent! My only complaint (besides no audio) is that it felt a little slow-paced to me; I feel like not as much happens per turn as in other turn based games. I wonder what it would feel like if your ship moved farther per turn. Anyways, really solid entry!

Dark Soil by Pietro Ferrantelli 2018-05-05T19:16:05Z

Fantastic job! One of the best entries I've seen. It's very impressive that you pulled this off in 3 days. I enjoyed the game a lot, my only complaint is it was confusing figuring out all the mechanics right from the start of the game, but that wasn't too bad. And I wish there was an indicator showing how close you are to levelling up. Those are very minor things though, great job overall!

7575 by Shivur 2018-05-05T21:49:09Z

I quite enjoyed reading the backstory and then playing the game. Smoother physics and controls would help a lot, I know you didn't have much time though. Good job, I think you really got the theme of your game across to the player.

Need for Fish by joh 2018-04-29T06:51:25Z

After a few tries I got 1st with 1:20 and 4 fish, and then 1st with 1:20 and 2 fish. Cute game with a funny premise. The animations and the sound all have nice attention to detail and make it a fun experience! It was confusing figuring out how to play, and even after I won I'm still not sure how exactly things work; it's possible the game would be better with slightly simplified mechanics, but it's hard to say without seeing it. Great job!

LD44 — Your life is currency

invertebrae by jjjjason 2019-04-29T17:04:34Z

This is so cool!! The story is compelling to read and it fits very well with how you interact with the game. I did end up having to read the source code at one point to figure out what to do, but I'm glad I did since I got to read all the paths and your internal names for them. Also the music definitely added something. This makes me wanna try to make a writing-centric game sometime.

LD24 — Evolution

AvRvE by Cake&Code 2012-08-28T22:44:00

This game was the most fun one I've played so far! I love the graphics and music. And I liked the mix of both puzzle and skill based levels. I only wish there was more gameplay. I think you could have made many more interesting levels with the kinds of tiles there were. But awesome game nonetheless! :D

Super Tree Evolution by bigbass1997 2012-09-05T06:20:00

I got the tree to evolve twice. I couldn't get it any further.

To me, the gameplay is not all there. The controls are fully functional, and you can tell when the plant grows, so the game is technically functional. But there is no explanation at all to tell you what exactly causes the plant to grow. Therefore the player cannot develop any strategy, and is stuck fiddling with the controls, and gets frustrated and quits. Even if you had put in some kind of instruction on how to win the game, it's questionable weather the game would be fun.

In most games, at the start, you are given a clear description of how you can interact with the world (controls) and your goal. Once you give the player tools, then they can try to use them to get to the goal. But if you don't clearly define what your tools do, and you don't even know what your goal is (do you have to find the right balance? do you have to wait a long time? I have no idea), the player is at a loss of what to do, and it's not fun.

I think having visual clues such as the graphics of the plant changing, and sound effects when it does so, would give the player clues, such as "when it makes this sound and shows this graphic, then I should add more water." Then you learn how to use your tools. And when the plant grows, the player feels satisfaction because he accomplished something, and he avoided danger.

I'm sorry I rambled a lot. But I hope you can understand what I was trying to say. I think that the game has a cool premise.

Adventures of Hermanni by samooJAM 2012-09-17T18:03:00

Pretty fun, there was some interesting level design with both jumping challenges and puzzles.

Evoltus by tlaine 2012-08-28T22:16:00

The game was pretty fun. I liked the last few levels with the evolved character much better though because you had so much more mobility, and the levels were more interesting. The first few were very repetitive. Like you said, yeah enemies would make the game more interesting, but it was pretty fun.

Untitled Tower Game by sylvie 2012-08-30T07:37:00

I thought it was cool how even though you start over from the beginning on death, you can use your new abilities to get back faster.

Doug Bones - Fossil Collector by wibblymat 2012-08-28T21:40:00

Man that sucks you had to restart 33 hours in. I had fun though! I did the upwards climb section without the gun, then realized I had a gun. That was a fun challenge. I liked the music, and lol'd at the button to turn off the music.

Super Devolution Man by bitlit 2012-09-05T07:10:00

Simple but balanced and fun gameplay. Of course, it would be cool to have more levels, and more enemies, etc. etc.

Foodvolution by cobrajs 2012-08-29T06:01:00

Cool concept! It's actually very similar to the one in my game. The difference is that in my game, collecting items upgrades certain stats, and you can only do it 7 times in the level. But in your game, collecting items upgrades certain stats and also downgrades others. Pretty cool concept!

EvoGoop by pirate-rob 2012-08-30T19:44:00

The concept was really cool, but the game was a little confusing. I was kind of confused at how having arms makes you jump lower, and a few other evolutions were confusing. I wish I could tell exactly what I was evolving

LimiT by Sakuyan 2012-09-05T23:36:00

The graphics were nice to look at. I liked the concept. It was also nice how the level was tiny, and had a variety of unique objects, which made it interesting and fun to move around in.

EVILUTION by GothFraex 2012-08-29T06:08:00

The game was a lot of fun! I really liked the creepy and frantic feel. The controls worked well imo. I would love to see this expanded upon. Also, in the version I downloaded (Windows), you start right next to the exit, which might be a bug. Fun game!

FLOWERBOT by Zccc 2012-09-05T07:02:00

Great job on the graphics and the story. I'm not sure if the level could be designed to make it impossible to trap yourself, but if it could that would have been nice. But the game had a great feel. I love the attention to detail on the graphics.

Diverge by patrickgh3 2012-08-28T20:54:00

@imef: When you finish the tutorial, the game then does all the logic for creating the game tiles for the main level. On my computer it loads for about 5 seconds, but it takes longer on different computers. If the game doesn't crash, maybe waiting a long time might help.

Unstable Planet by HunLyxxod 2012-08-29T05:45:00

I liked the idea at first glance, and the game was actually pretty fun. It was interesting how I had to change my route in different ways to accommodate for the change. Also the random generation is really neat!

Slimy Things Did Crawl by rhill 2012-08-28T20:32:00

I liked the concept, but the game had little to no instructions. I got 9 bronze and 2 gold medals. It's an original and fun concept, but I think it would have been better to have only 10 keys, because it gets pretty frustrating trying and memorizing such complex patterns.

I want to be a Dragon by CarmineGames 2012-08-29T05:15:00

Being a fan of difficult platformers, I liked this game. There were some interesting mechanics in the first 2 stages. All 3 stages I played were pretty fair, at least in my opinion, although you have to have some experience. About 10 minutes into playing the framerate dropped to about 10 so I had to restart. But when I did reach the end of the 3rd stage nothing happened when I touched the egg. http://i.imgur.com/f0qvZ.png
I had fun with what I played though!

Disgruntled Paddles VERSUS Evolution by djtjj 2012-08-28T21:56:00

I really liked the idea of playing as the right and left paddle, and as the right and bottom paddle. Those stages were fun. But I think the game needed a little more direction. I think it would have been cool to have a set pattern of evolutions that you go through every time and you try to get a high score, rather than the game just throwing random evolutions at you, as far as I can tell. But the game works as-is and didn't have too many bugs. Good job!

Way to Change by yetanother 2012-09-05T07:26:00

Fun game. I got stuck on "fallen theme."

The life of Cat by Amoaeba Junior 2012-08-28T20:52:00

I really liked the feel. I think the pacing is pretty good, but it might have been better to spend more time on the hunting phase. Not sure though. Also it would have been nice to create separate graphics for the ground, background, sky, and water, even if they're pretty basic/simple. It's pretty noticeable that you re-used the same pattern on all the textures.

ROBOLUTiON by admung 2012-09-05T19:18:00

46 deaths. The game was fun and well-balanced up until the last level. My main issue with that level is that there are cheap deaths, because you can't even see a spike that falls from above the top of the screen. It was also significantly longer, but not too much longer. The physics were not perfect but pretty solid. I had a lot of fun.

Blob Out by mejf 2012-08-28T18:11:00

That was pretty fun! I liked the challenge. It was fun figuring out that you accelerate faster on the ground than in the air.

Super-Human by talhakaya 2012-08-28T19:10:00

This game made me laugh a bunch. Best easter egg in a game ever xD

Also the mechanics were neat, and kept me interested in the game while laughing at the sound effects

Evolution by Adok 2012-08-29T05:30:00

Like others are saying, the biggest issue is the collision boxes. I really liked the gameplay - it was balanced and pretty fun. I played for a while without dying, but couldn't make it to the dinosaur stage. Oh well. I had fun!

On the Origin of Block by savethejets1 2012-09-05T07:20:00

Very interesting concept. You set up a nice difficulty curve which fit well. After a while it gets a bit tedious, but overall it's very fun.

being a Vampire Is Not Very Fun by Brian Corr 2012-09-05T06:51:00

The gameplay was pretty solid and fun. The whole time I was playing I was thinking along the lines of "wtf is going on. wtf is this guy saying. None of this makes any sense." But I think that was part of what made the game feel good, if that makes any sense haha. Nice job!

Platformer Evolution by Rohit 2012-08-29T06:16:00

It worked for me on Windows 7.

This game was pretty fun, and the dialogue and gameplay were very funny! I think it was pretty well-themed and well done for a very simple game about a red box jumping around the world.

Operation Tek by JakeAnstey 2012-09-05T05:11:00

I played around for a little bit, but couldn't figure out what to do. The instructions didn't work, and there were no in-game instructions.

I poked around in the source code, and you have a few more rooms, and some rooms with text for the prologue, level up, death, etc. I feel bad. It seems like there's a decent amount of content you made for the game, but I can't access any of it. Well, from what I played, the game seems like it has potential to be fun and interesting.

EVOLON by Moris_N 2012-08-28T20:04:00

I liked the concept, and each of the three abilities were pretty well balanced imo. I had fun trying out all 3. I only wish there was more than one level, or the level was much longer. Pretty fun though!

Evolution is the Key by Black Forest Programming 2012-09-05T04:57:00

The concept brought a smile to my face. Great idea. I'm impressed you were able to get all the different types of gameplay under the time limit. I had to restart twice, once from the boulder, and once from the boss. I had a lot of fun. Of course, you could have done more with it by expanding some of the later levels, which I personally would have enjoyed, but it would make the game significantly longer. I just think the later parts, especially the cool 3D one, were a bit short. And the boss was a bit difficult. Great game!

Evolver Worm by PixelPusher27 2012-08-28T22:01:00

I liked the gameplay and the character graphic. It would be cool to have more levels!

One of the best birthdays by Tom 7 2012-08-29T06:56:00

I really loved playing this game. I love these very releaxed, exploration-based games. Have you played An Untitled Story by Matt Thorson? The MS-Paint style reminds me a lot of that game.

I love the nonsensical and calmly psychadelic environment and character dialogue. I think I did everything you can do in the game, I found 6 items and got on top of the boat. I'm interested in how you converted the image into the collision map for the player. Did you do it manually or was it generated somehow? Anyway, had lots of fun! :D

Caveman's Quest for Food by jfroco 2012-09-05T05:46:00

I liked the gameplay mechanic and levels. Pretty good for 5-6 hours. More levels would have been great, but the ones there so far were pretty balanced. Then again, maybe with more levels, you need more new gameplay elements, or else it would get repetetive. Regardless, I had fun with the game.

5LIMES by Danik 2012-09-14T21:07:00

Nice game! My high score is 15. I think it got a little too hard too fast, but that was ok. All the evolutions of your gun and the enemies were pretty meaningful. And nice music.

Arctic Upgrade by Supermini_man 2012-08-30T19:14:00

Woooo!! I made it to Catland!! :D
I liked the game. The only problem I had with it, like many others, was the controls. I wish the character would decelerate when releasing arrow keys in the air. But, those spike puzzles were a bit more interesting with this. Fun game though. I liked the graphics.

Emergent Dungeon by attagcatc 2012-09-05T19:48:00

Nice idea. The text adventure was pretty interesting, if not a bit long. And the rat fight could have been shorter. The platforming part had pretty good physics. Nice job!

Dr. Ludum's Evolving Androids by TechnoBulldog 2012-08-28T18:51:00

It was pretty challenging and fun! I beat it on about my fifth try, with double jump. One feature I think the game needed most was a health/time bar to see how close you are to winning. This might not be to hard to implement, but I'm just guessing.
The game mechanic was simple but surprisingly challenging. And I actually really liked the half-second shield idea. Also if you just stand still, you become invincible, which is a pretty neat bug :P

A Long Road to Happiness by Wish I Was an Astronaut 2012-09-13T20:43:00

This game had great graphics and music, and a pretty polished level select / user interface. I really liked the skip level mechanic too. Well thought out and implemented well.

What I didn't like were the controls. I looked through all the levels, and they were all pretty well made and were all interesting. But IMO, the controls are not precise enough to handle all of the precision jumps. In IWBTG, the game is filled with very precise controls, and you have VERY precise control of your character.

I haven't played Jumper 3 in a while, but I liked the way the character accelerates horizontally. IMO in a game with precision jumps, your character should accelerate the same in the air or on the ground, but that's subjective. Also, I wasn't really able to get used to the character accelerating so fast. I found myself having to tap the arrows extremely lightly and quickly. I would have preferred the character accelerate more slowly, so you have more control, and more time to react. And I was also confused as to why, when you double-jump, you instantly accelerate to max velocity in that direction. To me it made the character hard to control. And as a small point, I think that wall jumping up the side of a wall should have been a little easier, but I guess it was easy enough.

Idk. I guess I just thought the controls were a little finicky for some parts. But I really did enjoy the challenge in some of the levels, even though I was only able to beat 15. The levels were pretty fair. Also, I thought the placing block power-up was pretty cool. There's a lot of content for must 48 hours. Nice job!

Sorry I rambled a bit. I just had a lot of thoughts I wanted to get out about the game.

The World Hates You by mcc 2012-09-05T19:35:00

I agree with others, that I would like to have more "controlling" controls. And the collision detection was somewhat sketchy. But other than that, I had a lot of fun playing the same levels over and over again, and I actually saw a few of them get significantly harder. This is my favorite concept so far, and one of the best ones I've played. I really would want to see what would happen if you had 100 tanks and 1000 players playing them.

I hope I can remember to check out the levels in a few days!

Homo Vermes by madflame991 2012-08-30T19:23:00

Very cool idea. Like others say, it needs a bit more in-game instruction. Maybe pictures alongside text would help.

raptor disaster by mes 2012-09-05T05:28:00

This game was really fun. The graphics and level design worked very nicely with one another. I think it might have been better if the enemies stood out a little more from the fore/background, but that was part of the challenge. Also, I think that the game got a little too hard too fast, but maybe I'm just not good enough :)

I had a ton of fun. One of the best ones I've played. If you guys completed this, it would be great.

EvoBlob by Tritax 2012-09-05T04:36:00

That's pretty cool you guys made this game as a family. I thought the game mechanic and the level design were pretty solid. It would have been better if you told the player what "burst" meant. I only figured it out after I restarted from the title screen once. But I had a lot of fun!

Monkeyectomy by iximeow 2012-09-05T06:03:00

Funny theme and graphics. It took me a while to figure out W and S were controls. I like it in games when there is complex letters/numbers on the screen, but the gameplay is super simple. I think it makes me feel really cool when playing :D

Plop by Yann 2012-08-28T19:27:00

Great game! I really liked the mechanic, and the levels were pretty well designed and balanced. I also liked the music. It kept a good feel.

The ducks are taking over!! by JaJ 2012-09-05T20:13:00

I really liked the concept of upgrading classic arcade enemy abilities. And the music and sounds gave it a great feel. The game was pretty balanced with cool features. I had a lot of fun.

I'm no artist, but it seemed like the colors are a bit too saturated. If they were a little more greyed out, it probably would have been easier on my eyes.

Core/24 by Glandouze 2012-09-05T19:54:00

Ah, I beat the AI after like 5 tries. The game looked pretty cool, with neat little particles flying back and forth. And the UI at the bottom looked cool too.

How evolution really works? by keenblaze 2012-09-05T23:42:00

Awesome feel by the graphics and music. I love how each puzzle is unique. Everything is fresh. The quality makes up for the quantity.

Evolved by Nimphious 2012-08-29T07:00:00

I have no experience at all working with 3d, not even close. But I have to say that this just looks really cool. The shadows and the camera angle make the game feel very nice. Keep working on it! It's very visually appealing

CellEvolution by gbear605 2012-09-05T06:33:00

Nice concept. I think the visual and text effect of collecting cell parts gave a nice sense of accomplishment. The music was nice and simple, like the gameplay. I had fun.

Also, here's a minor glitch with the platform physics. If you're holding Up, and you're standing above a block, you should jump. But, you forgot to add a check to make sure your velocity is going downwards, so that you don't jump immediately when jumping up the side of a block.

Mazolution by andrew845 2012-08-28T18:58:00

Pretty good for less than an hour! :)

Enhanced Man by Per 2012-08-28T18:26:00

I got it to work using Chrome. My version is 21.0.1180.83 m.

The game was pretty fun! I liked the graphics and music, and that you could choose which path you wanted to take through the levels. I only wish there were more levels, so that building up your stats could be more meaningful. But great job!

Evodash by Sichuan 2012-08-28T20:19:00

I'm on Java 7 Update 5, and it doesn't work. The web version gives me a gray screen, and when I run the downloaded .jar, no window pops up.

Biovolve by Cryptix 2012-08-28T19:55:00

I was looking forward to play this game mainly because it was a platformer, and the graphics looked nice. I really liked the mood set up with the graphics and music. I liked the 'exploration' feel of most of the levels, but I think that many of the levels, especially in the first half, were filler, and could probably be taken out. Those levels got a bit repetitive at a point. I think the levels toward the end with all 3 elements were the best since they not only had an exploration kind of feel to them, but there were also jumping puzzles and you had to think a little to get to the powerups.
There were a few glitches, like in one level you had to touch the goal just right or else it would restart, and you can float by repeatedly tapping up, etc. but they were mostly pretty minor. Great job! I had fun playing.

The Plurality by N427 2012-08-27T21:22:00

I really liked the theme / plot. You pulled it off well in the dialogue and graphics, and it was the main thing that kept me playing. I have a few nitpicky issues with the gameplay, like how the eyes don't turn around smoothly, but they aren't very significant. Nice work!

Evolving Cubes by deaddodo 2012-08-28T20:38:00

Could you post a download in addition to the source?

Hotdoggin by Goodlookinguy 2012-09-05T19:56:00

Oh my god very well done on the humor. I laughed so hard. Even the instructions up there are funny.

Robot Panic by Oliver Simon 2012-08-28T21:33:00

The overall game idea wasn't bad, but in a game like this, where platforming is all the player is doing, the little things matter a lot. The controls and physics were very sketchy. Many times I pressed jump and the player didn't jump. Also, the checkpoints were a good idea, but I really think that there needed to be one right after the section where you ride the block upwards. I had to repeat that part about 6 times. And it took a while and I was a bit frustrated when I found out that you had to push those blocks over the spike pit because there were no directions.

Other than those small things, I enjoyed the unique traps and jumps, and the metroid-ish level design was pretty good.

A Walk In The Park by PapyPilgrim 2012-08-30T20:05:00

Really great atmosphere and mood. I only realized that the dog was mine on the second playthrough, but once I lost it, and got to the ending, I was really sad. The dog is always as loyal to you as he can be, and when you both stray too far, I imagine the dog is also running around frantically trying to find you :(
Great message. I'm glad that even though my dog is living with a family friend, she has loving friends and won't get separated from them.

Species by mappum 2012-08-30T08:04:00

Great job. Excellent job building up tension with level design and scaring the player. This is yet another reminder to me that I should never play Slender D:

Super Charles Darwin by gnx 2012-08-29T07:29:00

At first I thought it was too hard, but after a while I beat it. I had about 25 deaths on the first level, 15 on the second, 10 on the third, and 5 on the boss. I think the main thing that stick out about this game is the difficulty curve, as shown in exhibit A.

I love really hard megaman style games like these. The controls were great, and the music, sound effects, and grahpics made it satisfying to play. The level design was good and hard, but overall the game is too unforgiving in my opinion. Upgrades are almost never worth going out of your way for because you usually die getting them. And having a hitpoint would make it easier. I think checkpoint spacing is okay though, as it is satisfying to finally make it through a long level.

Many of the traps were interesting, and enemy placement was great. And there were great jokes, esp. the final boss. Sorry for rambling. I really enjoyed the game! :D

Dinolution by The Evil Cult 2012-09-05T18:59:00

The game had a nice feel, and was pretty balanced. I wish the game would have told me that you jump higher while moving. There was a serious glitch (in my opinion) - when you land on a platform, it takes about half a second before you can jump again. Other than those control issues, the game was pretty fun.

A New Kind of Man by Khayet 2012-08-30T07:17:00

I really liked the concept and the physics seemed working. You could have made some pretty cool multiple-path based levels

Puzzle Dash! by Fireblend 2013-08-27T01:11:00

Very frantic and tons of fun! My high score is 2590. A bit of polish here and there would make it better, but it's great as is. Nice job!

Catch them all! (In ten seconds) by Yaru 2013-08-26T08:55:00

Fun and challenging. The sound and particle effect when you catch one of the guys is really satisfying.

Very pretty and relaxing. I don't see how it fits the theme, but I like it a lot!

No Time to Stop by Alink 2013-08-26T10:48:00

Fun and challenging. I think the difficulty ramps up way too fast though. I also like the line-trail effect when you move, it feels nice and helps your eyes track your location.

7Tulips by pinkmonkeyhead 2013-08-26T02:20:00

Very neat concept! I think the minigames could use a little more balance, but I may just not be good enough.

You Missed A Spot by john_conder9 2013-08-27T01:49:00

Very entertaining. I liked how the comments helped me remember which tool matched up with each stain. Nice music too! My best score was 2250.

Cubic Escape by vitou3d 2013-08-26T06:40:00

Fun and fair levels with a nice difficulty curve. I also liked how polite the square was.

SliP by Sakuyan 2013-08-27T03:01:00

Cute graphics and sound! And the achievement was very useless :D Nice job!

The abyss by dvdking 2013-08-26T09:05:00

Everything was really smooth and polished. The gameplay was fun and addicting, though I wish there were checkpoints so you don't have to redo the easy levels. I wish I was good enough to see the end, if there is one.

Pube by magicdweedoo 2013-08-26T09:20:00

I love the style. Very creepy game!

TimeFlex by jprogman 2013-08-27T06:10:00

Neat concept with the time flexing. I like how the game pauses for you to get your bearings when switching games.

Rascal Ninja by Kurama_Youko 2013-08-26T10:20:00

I liked the sliding and walljumping mechanics, they felt pretty smooth. Even though you can slide to go fast I still think the player should run faster. Also, the ninjas coming out after 10 seconds was not apparent, but a cool idea nonetheless!

Clocked In by rylgh 2013-08-27T03:22:00

Perfect. Tight controls, upbeat music, and very interesting level design. I would totally play this on mobile!

Precious10 by Vico 2013-08-27T00:36:00

Hilarious concept with the clock ticking even during the main menu and when the game is paused. It was way to hard for me though, and I kept accidentally tapping through my high score. Fun! My best was 700.

10 Seconds to Save the World by HacksawUnit 2013-09-17T00:16:00

It was fun gradually optimizing my path.

Quartz by Vavassor 2013-08-27T02:37:00

I loved the dreamy and mysterious environment. The music and graphics were beautiful. Awesome! :D

Sundial by Recursiveanomaly 2013-08-26T02:42:00

It was scary having monsters pop out at me from the darkness!

Haraka by gikdew 2013-08-27T03:54:00

Fun and challenging, just like SMB. Movement was a little glitchy though. Nice job!

IMPACT by ENDESGA 2013-08-27T06:01:00

Pretty fun, wasn't too easy or too hard. My high score on 30 seconds is 561.

Rude Bear Radio by Alex Rose 2013-08-28T07:12:00

Love the game parodies and music remixes. I lost it at doing things the easy way xD

10 Second Escapes by DrHahn 2013-08-26T08:30:00

I liked the mechanics you came up with, and how they played well together. A few of the levels seemed a bit too hard, but overall there was a nice difficulty curve.

Time and Shapes by Woftles 2013-08-26T03:31:00

The bullet-time effect was really smooth.

Tensed Seconds by triforcespark 2013-08-26T22:20:00

I liked replaying the earlier levels to find all the hidden collectibles, but it would be nice to have a choice to redo a level instead of starting from the beginning. Also, this might just be nitpicky, but your art had different pixel resolutions, which looked weird to me. Overall it was fun!

Dr. F. R. Eak's Abduction by Jon Fischer 2013-08-26T08:42:00

Piloting a flying saucer with a tractor beam was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Unfortunately I don't see how the game relates to the theme.

Temple by 3beards 2013-08-27T06:35:00

Hard but fair. I liked the shaking screen, it added a sense of urgency.

Time Squirrel by Toestee 2013-08-26T09:46:00

That slowdown effect was crazy.

Fireworks by Schulles 2013-08-27T05:29:00

The graphics and the music were adorable! And I thought having each level be a new year was really neat. Great job!

exposure by Zillix 2013-08-28T07:44:00

Amazing game. There's so much to discover, and it's all very mysterious. The music and graphics fit perfectly. My favorite entry so far!

Draggin ten by Croze 2013-08-26T03:23:00

I liked the music! I wish it played in-game.

10 Second Shooter by mcbeckjr 2013-08-26T02:52:00

I liked the music, it kept the intensity up. My high score is 1632.2, I think that's pretty good.

10 Seconds Before the World Ends by Lustdante 2013-08-27T02:46:00

Great idea and great execution!

Happy Edii by HoWseR 2013-08-26T09:56:00

Very cute! :D The controls were pretty tight. The death sequence made me baww.

Kitty Force 10 by Raiyumi 2013-09-05T20:06:00

Awesome! It's been a while since I've played a truly challenging platformer like this. I wish the camera panned lower for the long section with the orbs over the spikes, for some reason that part took me a while. Great art and music too! :D

Forward Motion by Feysoura 2013-08-27T02:53:00

Solid and smooth platformer! I liked the exit door sound effect.

magnet. by rot13 2013-08-26T09:30:00

Interesting and fun concept! The changing background colors were also nice. I accidentally skipped through my high score because I kept tapping keys :/

Back for Seconds by RobotParking 2013-08-28T00:52:00

Any deeper meaning is lost on me, but it was a blast to play.

Summer Death Olympics by bufbot 2013-08-27T04:37:00

I bet this would be a lot of fun with a large group!

LEGACY by DanHayesGamer 2013-08-27T04:46:00

The graphics were beautiful. Great game!

The Duellists by jay griffin 2013-08-28T07:53:00

Very fun! And charming graphics. I loved the flavor text.

10 Seconds In 10 Seconds by Jishenaz 2013-08-26T10:42:00

Cool concept! I bet you could develop it a bit more, like maybe having some other factor determine how long your shield lasts in defense mode, aside from how fast you can press space. Like everyone else says, this would be perfect for local multiplayer. Nice job!

Ship Escape by pcmccull 2013-08-27T00:51:00

Simple and fun! I ended up exploring the entire floor before achieving the impossible.

Asteroids - Incoming 10 Seconds by CrisisSDK 2013-08-27T06:28:00

62 seconds as well. Nice game! Smooth controls and fair collision detection.

Tower Escape by Serishmus 2013-08-28T07:58:00

Neat idea. More floors would be great.

Defuse in 10 seconds by archaeometrician 2013-08-27T06:18:00

The lesser-typed letters and the music kept me on the edge of my seat. Nice job!

Ten Seconds To Serve! by Zonak 2013-08-26T08:48:00

The style was really charming. Lots of fun!

ILLUSIOUS by CoveBit 2013-08-26T10:02:00

I love it! Simple, but it does what it does perfectly.

10 Sec Hero by StabAlarash 2013-08-26T08:09:00

Very fun game mechanic, but lacking in some areas. Small tutorial quips, as well as sound effects would be nice to get some sort of feedback as to what exactly the buttons do. It was very confusing at first, but after I knew what was going on it was a lot of fun. If this game were expanded and polished, I would totally buy it for my mobile device! :D

Nonzero by koller-digital 2013-08-26T07:56:00

Very neat idea. Easy enough to grasp, but hard to master.

ReTurtle by Metatheos 2013-09-05T20:17:00

Interesting concept, way too hard for me though. The boss pattern was cool!

Can you count to 10? by BackwardSpy 2013-09-05T20:30:00

Love the atmosphere. The ending really scared me. Also that block was cute :3

Project: "Explosion" by Ghostik 2013-09-05T20:51:00

Really cool. I loved frantically trying to escape the buildings. I was surprised at how detailed the level select was!

Space Rift by GFM 2013-08-26T10:34:00

Nice graphics and music! The gameplay was pretty smooth too. The theme seemed a bit shoehorned though.

Time Gate by wolfadex 2013-08-26T03:00:00

Fun game! Purple ship FTW.

Wow, this was great! Mysterious and intriguing atmosphere.

Bugged Bot by Space_man 2014-01-05T07:37:00

Neat concept. Looks like there could be a lot of puzzles you could make.

COR by ENDESGA 2014-01-03T03:34:00

Love it! The graphics look really nice, not too simple or too busy.

One Gunman by Levi D. Smith 2014-01-03T03:25:00

Love the voice effects, especially "shoot fibonaccis." Lots of fun!

One Life to Lose by valgriz 2014-01-03T06:02:00

My high score was 58. Nice game!

Dangerous TGA (to go alone) by junt74 2014-01-05T06:15:00

Fun and relaxing.

Underbyte by unusualcadence 2014-01-03T07:05:00

I love this game, it feels so magical exploring the secret underworld. Awesome glitch graphics and the exploding blocks fit in perfectly. The music was spot on too. I had to quit after a while because I kept getting swarmed by enemies and it felt unfair. But overall really great.

TankoKitty by JohnnySix 2014-01-03T05:01:00

Moving back to suck up the bullets was neat, I could imagine more complex fighting situations where it could prove interesting.

0RBITALIS by AlanZucconi 2014-01-03T06:09:00

Great fun to play around with. Sometimes it felt luck-based that some of my launches worked and some didn't, but maybe I was just doing it wrong. Great graphical effects too!

OneShot by minibutmany 2014-01-05T06:47:00

Played it on android, works fine for me. I like the sounds when you pick up the planets. The gameplay is fun and relaxing, but I really dislike having to restart from the first level, it feels artificial.

Lost Gems by d__adee 2014-01-05T06:10:00

Neat mechanic! It's a bit too difficult for me though, I only got to level 2 once.

KERNEL by CatOnMars 2014-01-03T04:19:00

Love the dreamy graphics and atmosphere. Gameplay was solid too. I think there could have been some more interesting puzzles, but other than that I love the level design.

One Rogue by rincewind_cz 2014-01-05T07:08:00

Nice graphics and particle effects. The gameplay got pretty repetitive, it would be better if running didn't feel slow and the exit didn't feel so far away. But still a lot of fun!

Fever Blue by Raiyumi 2014-01-03T04:47:00

Love the atmosphere, I felt really uneasy when playing. The pixel art was really great as well. The pacing felt a bit slow, but the level and enemy design was great.

BlockDodger by Jishenaz 2014-01-03T05:28:00

Nice job using OpenGL. It'll take me a long time before I have the courage to learn it, haha.

The ruling party by kristoffer zetterberg 2014-01-03T05:39:00

Very interesting. I was confused at first but by the end I think I figured out what was going on.

SANITY by acehk 2014-01-03T07:41:00

Spooky atmosphere and great graphics and effects. I especially liked the snowy area.

The Library *Real Name: Welcome to the Library* by Capitals 2014-01-03T07:47:00

Fun! Spells gliding across the floor was a nice touch. The premise is very entertaining. Good luck if you decide to keep working on it!

Bowerbird Quest by mcapraro 2014-01-03T03:48:00

Love the art and the setting.

Click Click Cat by GravityScore 2014-01-03T04:10:00

Hilarious premise and gameplay!

Handle with care by Cawrtz 2014-01-03T04:32:00

The big graphic for the key and its particles look really cool. And fun mechanic with the key breaking. The levels were a bit too chaotic for my taste, but I still enjoyed it.

You Are Disabled by Cory Martin 2014-01-03T06:21:00

Great atmosphere and theme. Loved it.

Cmdr. Yogo by rnlf 2014-01-03T05:06:00

Lots of fun! Hilarious premise and dialogue, I laughed pretty hard when I failed my first mission.

The blue present by Ayte 2014-01-05T06:32:00

At level 8 there's a hilarious amount of presents. Pretty fun. Also a minor bug: if you trap a blue present between the side of the box and the edge of the screen, you can keep pushing against it to collect it.

One Square One by NiklasRiewald 2014-01-05T06:58:00

Beat it! It was fun first figuring out what was going on, and then figuring out how to solve the puzzles. I bet you could expand a lot upon this kind of puzzle / toy.

Only One Chance by johnfn 2014-01-03T06:43:00

Awesome music and atmosphere. Loved it!

That one spot by madflame991 2014-01-03T04:54:00

LD37 — One room

Freeze & Crush by levubivenatus 2016-12-14T19:12:00

Satisfying! Well executed concept, I bet you could do more with this somehow.

Watchers by Roffe71 2016-12-15T00:22:00

Neat concept that fits nicely with procedural generation. It's fun, satisfying to move around quickly and to reach the top, and has its own charm somehow. Congrats on your first LD!

One Night by freyby 2016-12-14T18:06:00

The graphics and music made a nice atmosphere for this kind of game, good job on that.

Fox rat eater by saurterrs 2016-12-14T17:57:00

Interesting and fun figuring out strategies. Rat spawns feel a little too luck based to me though. I agree the leaderboard is a great touch. Good job!

Cute Reign by kawaiineko 2016-12-14T21:30:00

Beautiful graphics, and the ending I got was really well done. The pacing and length of dialog was good, I didn't get bored, though any longer and I might have. The scenarios and choices were interesting too. Overall good job, it appealed to me as someone who doesn't play these kind of games.

Claustrophobia by jperlin 2016-12-26T17:33:00

I dig the soundtrack and creepy atmosphere, great job. The gameplay was fun, but the controls were a bit confusing.

Let them in by Wildebeest Studio 2016-12-14T17:24:00

Great art, memorable atmosphere with the colored lights and variety of partygoers. Gameplay was simple, but fun.

Neuroleptic by pratess 2016-12-14T21:51:00

Honestly I think this deserves some kind of scary game warning. Well done buildup. I'm too uncomfortable to keep trying to win, sorry, haha!

A cats life by mrcone 2016-12-14T19:07:00

Conveyed its theme very well through the gameplay and art. Good job! Nice touch that the dad can use the couch and bed too.

JamBear by samt2510 2016-12-14T19:47:00

Beautiful graphics and environment. Love the level detail everywhere, it suits a one-level game like this. Title screen is great too. Good use of multiple routes through the level. I agree with others about the player physics, hurt feedback, difficulty. I feel like playtesting would help with this. Also, you might want to change the link name to "Windows and Mac" since I saw a mac download.

Save the relics by 60fingers 2016-12-14T23:23:00

Wow! Unique and fun gameplay paired with well rendered and animated art. Like other people, this is one of my favorite entries so far.

Elemental Brawl by GoofStudios 2016-12-14T20:06:00

The element mechanics are quite interesting, I think they have more potential. I like the frantic feeling of it all. I think the biggest improvement could be starting the difficulty and complexity slow, so the player can learn before doing the hard stuff.

One Step Back by Holofire 2016-12-14T22:41:00

Nice art, the rooms felt cozy. Some neat concepts for gameplay but the boxes and number buttons felt too tedious. Good job!

Escape the Room by CoderDozer 2016-12-14T22:25:00

I like the controls and the graphics, I think the player is cute. I agree with others about being too unforgiving, but I do think the movement and jumping speed can be okay if the game was easier. Nice job, especially when using a new engine for the first time (which I would never be brave enough to do in LD). Oh yeah, and sound effects would go a long way.

The Eternal Empire by oskardevelopment 2016-12-14T20:29:00

Not my kind of game but seems well done, good job. The background picture is a nice touch.

The Guy In The Room by BadPaul34 2016-12-14T18:36:00

Neat idea examining someone's life by investigating their room. It was a nice "a-ha" moment figuring out what was going on. Great music and atmosphere, I like the visuals outside the room. My only complaint is it was confusing remembering if I had found the swan in each room.

The Library by Stending 2016-12-14T20:23:00

Fantastic game! Love the atmosphere, art, music, gameplay. Reading the upcoming line of notes is a fun mechanic. I really adore this game, great job.

Panic room by Smiley 2016-12-14T22:04:00

Nice art and audio, and simple but well made gameplay. Maybe a little RNG-heavy with the powerups.

RoomOne by Geckoo1337 2016-12-14T21:03:00

I really dig this, great work. I'll have to remember this game for inspiration. My biggest complaint is that dying and restarting from the beginning is frustrating. Also I managed to jump from the shrinking star back to the starting cube, then to the big cube.

Room One by Yamzho 2016-12-14T23:14:00

Nice graphics and interface, and entertaining text.

Unfinished: A-OK Heist by DragonFyZex 2016-12-26T06:46:00

Gj on submitting! I think it's nice to share what you made even if it's not finished.

Toxic Waste by The Vall 2016-12-26T06:35:00

Neat little game, good job on submitting / participating!

Euclid by TriSquare 2016-12-14T21:42:00

Neat concept, and visually looked nice, good job. To me the walking felt slow and I couldn't figure out where to go after going in circles. Also, I think it's worth it to investigate making the file size smaller for future games.

Tree House Quest by AngrySquirrels 2016-12-14T17:46:00

Absolutely love the environments and characters (I wanna pet the Sphinxter). The gameplay flowed really well, except the gnomes took a while. Overall the game felt really cohesive. Great job!

Hyperspeed Farmer by jacksmack 2016-12-26T07:33:00

Interesting premise for a game. I like the art, good job. Also, I don't know if it's possible in GMS2, but it's nicer to export as an executable / zip rather than an installer.

Ultimate Hamster Carnage by Alpenter 2016-12-26T07:05:00

Nice polish, the sound effects and visuals were very satisfying. The balance of the game was well done. Nothing!

RAINWATER (is free) by yuigoto 2016-12-26T19:16:00

One of my favorites! While straightforward, the gameplay is fun and having to drop off the water adds a nice unique layer. The audio and graphics are very well done too, the game feels complete. Great job!

Heavy Industries by TurboCorp 2016-12-26T07:11:00

Great idea and execution, I love all the little details.

World of Toyships by WizzardMaker 2016-12-26T06:59:00

Fun! I especially liked the juicy particle effects, and also the faucet in the corner.

Claustrophobia by Obvious_San 2016-12-14T20:37:00

The shrinking room effect is cool. Graphics and sounds are nice. The game is a bit too hard for me though. Good job!

Ghost Brawl by n00basaurus 2016-12-14T20:45:00

The music, visuals, and gameplay all make a fun and humorous atmosphere, Gameplay was a bit simple but fun and balanced. Good job! I punched 38 ghosts.

EscapeJam by Kalm004 2016-12-14T21:12:00

Made me laugh a lot. The choices, sounds, and faces are hilarious. Good job!

The Leaky Ceiling by SoulBound 2016-12-14T18:57:00

I enjoy spending with my friends in the corner. I like the flavor text and music. I think the gameplay could be better balanced; it was a bit slow in the beginning.

The Mini-Man 3D by adrian09_01 2016-12-14T23:06:00

You succeeded in making a level that's fun to jump around and explore with fun scenery. Nice job! My main complaint is running off the table after getting hit. I also knocked books in the way of collecting the last 2 coins >_<

Rworld by blackbird806 2016-12-15T00:06:00

Nice concept and good fun levels to support/explore it. The background is pretty too. Good job!

Outlast The Flood by MattWoelk 2016-12-14T18:46:00

Fun concept! I like the water graphics. 2:19

Diabolic Toys - Tower Defense by Vairon 2016-12-26T19:09:00

I really like the art and atmosphere of the bedroom, it feels cozy and creepy at the same time, haha. I'm not a big fan of tower defense but it was fun to play. Good job

Magic Panic by harusame 2016-12-14T23:34:00

All-around good entry. A bit challenging for me. I like the short text at the beginning.

Out of Sight by Nervous Composers 2016-12-26T06:42:00

Nice humorous tone in the game, and fun gameplay too, though the controls felt a little clunky (maybe one too many buttons). I like the length of each round too.

Tracer by TeamScripta 2016-12-14T23:44:00

Really neat concept and execution of it. I feel like there's more potential for this, be it gameplay or sandbox. It's just fun to draw!

At first drawing the cone seemed tedious and repetetive but when the camera panned out it was so worth it, it put a smile on my face.
