Penance: A story of Resistance by JoAMD 2020-04-25T11:36:03Z ♥ 3
for the future I advise to keep all the sprites pixelsize the same, it looks funny when the world tile pixels are almost triple the size of the main character. Solid entry, good job!

for the future I advise to keep all the sprites pixelsize the same, it looks funny when the world tile pixels are almost triple the size of the main character. Solid entry, good job!
really fun but I got really dizzy tho :D
basic adaptation for the theme done well. Instead of concentrating on the things you did well I'm going to give some improvement ideas since I fell that's more valuable. Here's my feedback: I don't see why you would have two separate action keys for attacking and opening a chest when the same could be achieved with only a one.
I felt frustrated when i couldn't hit the enemy when it was "inside" of the player. For a future coding challenge I challenge you to create a randomized dungeon!
Solid entry! good job π
I agree with everyone else about the camera. The only way to pass the game is to learn the layout. I also feel like there's a missed opportunity on with the water: instead of killing you instantly it would lower your oil level. Nice but basic sounds, pixel art never fails and the mood was great! for your fist game a solid entry! keep it up π
too me a while to work out the right combinations but eventually got it! only complaint is the inputs. I would make it so that pressing escape closes the computer and you would only have one action key. solid entry, good job!
Really enjoyed it until I totally got stuck with the part where's the battery D: The makes you feel like a genius when you get the "ahaa" moment and get around the puzzle. solid entry, good job!
wow the file size is HUGE. took me 3 minutes to download D:
π
nice graphics, pixel art never fails :D
great animations
smooth movement
π
I missed the theme complitely
I had no idea what was happening
I didn't find any end goal to try and reach, i just mopped the floors
-------------------
otherwise a really solid entry would play again (RSEWPA for short) good job guys!
Am i doing something wrong or why I suddenly die when the bubble gets big D: no monsters nearby anyway I really liked it! simple and effective. Good job π
Is that pixel rotation achieved in unity?! cuz i want to know how that works! gameplay feels great nice sfx :D the game achieves what it meant to. I didn't like the cave atmosphere tho, It makes me anxious and it feels like the game pushes you back from it with the feeling. Just my opinion tho!
solid entry, good job guys!
for your first jam game this is great! only complaint I have is I want more! Also the game ending so suddenly got me thinking that did I do something wrong :D keep up the good work, solid entry π
Solid work! I feel like it's too easy tho! good job π
omg the best game i've played this ld! I know this "multiple window" mechanic is overused but you guys took it to another level! Only thing that bothered me was the window dragging.. It bugged a bit but after all it didnt' matter.. great job!
Lovely animations you got there! I kinda agree whit everyone else: the game feels a bit slow due to the fact that the altar spawns in random location and you have to find it yourself. Some harder enemies or such are usually easy to implement and they add so much in gameplay wise. Solid entry tho, good job!
I think this one could have had some more interactions with the world.. maybe a minigame that allows you to stock up on some supplies maybe? but as a clicking game I enjoyed it! funny graphics and an original take on the theme. good job! The web-version worked fine for me btw.
Really struggled with the dialogue.. It's really annoying you cant move while a slow dialogue plays. the artstyle is unique for ld witch is good. It lacks audio but that's understandable. solid entry tho, good job!
feedback1.PNG Great and funny take on the theme! a bit weird controls and they took me few games to understand totally. here's on of my results :D forgot to to capture my record, 20 babies! solid entry, good job!
lovely little game you got there! a bit too stressful and hectic for me atleast! as zeaga said it brings back a lot of memories from my childhood games. solid entry, good job!
I spent 20 minutes on this one! great entry, loved every part of it :D sad that it doesn't have any music ;( solid entry, good job!
simple game but it represents the theme well. simple controls, fast and easy to play through and understand, seems I have to learn something (you'll get my joke if you play our game :D). solid entry, good job!
Good game until I got gang raped by bunch of guys with knifes lmao. I love those chiptune soundtracks and the most mind boggling thing is that you did all that in combo?! good job! The only thing that left me cold is the theme, I got it after reading few comments. Really liked the game tho!
wow, my friend! really solid entry! I love how you took something so simple and turned into an entertaning game so well. Would love to see some statistics on that last decision :D just curiosity
Didn't manage to beat the boss ;( A heath bar or some sort for the boss and for the player wouldn't hurt. Nice little entry you got there, good job!
Wow, the game feels very, very polished! I love how much content this game has. Every part of the game fits together very well. Only thing that bothers me is that the game doesn't give much room for the theme. altough that's just a nitpic :D Good job!
I'm getting like 15fps?! Don't know why :D I'm impressed that this is a combo game, although controls were really bad for pc.. Neat animations, cute world and a great idea! I think you should inform players that you need a controller to play this but it's not necessary. I noticed that after reading whew comments. Would love to try this one on a controller (I don't own any). Solid entry tho, good job!
my favorite game so far! fits the theme perfectly. although it has very simplistic artsyle, it accomplishes everything that it has to and more. Like the game, every piece fits together in this one: music, feeling you get while playing and even the menu/UI (it's perfect :)). I lost a sense of time while playing this. best so far, good job!
neat concept and art! love to see good pixel art in ludum dare ;) I love to concept that your actions limit your space but at the same time keeps you alive. the rocket gun breaks that by allowing you to remove ice.. It would be better just to let the ice melt in a certain time maybe(?). of course it limits the content but maybe adding some random events or harder enemies (bosses etc.) wouldn't hurt?
overall a solid entry. gotta remember that it's a ludum dare tho ;) good job!
I love the voxel style! also the music fits in pretty well. the game is too hard tho. the enemy is getting far more spawns in than me -.-. The concept is good and it's executed well. overall a solid entry, good job!
oh wow nice entry! the level design is awesome!! just enough to start some thinking process but not too hard. great music and gameplay overall. Would be great if the inputs stack, like if you quickly press forward three times it'll go forward three times itself. pretty nice game tho :), good job!
haha the ducks! It's nice to see pixel art entries in ludum dare. movement really feels like you're in space. the game could be a bit longer but it's ludum dare after all ;) solid entry, good job!
saw your post about the generation and I had to check this out! The map looked fiiine af. first game on ld I've seen to use a procedurally generated map and you nailed it! could it be possible to share your generation script on github or etc? I would love to take a look :)
okay about the game.. I know the game is about the map but more enemy spawns wouldn't hurt. movement worked all fine. Not really theme related but should it? solid entry tho, good job!
plez no he will nuke us... jk awesome game :D Would have been fun to have something different than just smashing the space button. No idea what it could be tho.. awesome soundtrack!! good job!
YEAH! finally a good pixel art entry!! gotta say I really enjoyed the gameplay. simple but effective. some levels were a bit too hard (especially the first couple of lvls). solid entry tho, good job!
I love the graphics. they look cool. I think that the game was a bit difficult at start (might be just me tho).
I think that having a bit higher fps wouldn't hurt. It's a little hard. solid entry tho. good job!
it really needs a retry button :-D as everyone has already said I too find the movement to be a little awkward but not in a bad way. usually these types of games have rotational based movement. It's good to push boundaries and try new stuff tho. good job!
I like the camouflage ability. would be fun it had some restrictions like for example you can't move while camouflaged. nice entry!
great graphics! I think your player movement choice is a bit weird but eventually got hang of it. good job!
solid entry! I love how you blended 2d characters with 3d space. at first it was a bit hard to aim but eventually I got the hang of it. good job!
solid entry right here! I love those animations, just beautiful! as a low bit pixel artist this game is awesome!! I love it.
Okay, little bit about the game: I got to level 10. only thing that needs improving is the audio :D other than that it's perfect. good job!
oh I think the game crashed.. that's unity probably :D good entry. I love the idea. Sometimes it was hard to find all the buttons. controls were a bit unresponsive (especially the mouse) but other than that a solid entry. good job!
I pretty much agree with everyone else: the intro was progressing too slowly and I almost lost my patience, sorry :(. most of my attention went into the graphics. This game is a prime example how program-art can be as good or even better than normal (eh) graphics.
The game is simple but effective. I would have loved to see something unexpected, random events or something like that. solid entry tho. good job!
lol the ending was great! I loved the idea of a cassette inside our brains. You nailed those cutscenes and the game played well. nothing to complain really :D good job!
oh no! a dog has become a pupsicle! hilarious entry :D Only dog owners get this joke tho. good job!
good entry! fits the theme almost perfectly! had fun playing it. good job!
nice entry. I think the controls are a bit unresponsive and the map design is too unforgiving. as @ad31 said you gotta learn the map to finish it. audiowise I really enjoyed it. the music fits in very well. Good job!
lovely to see an actual 3d game with cutscenes in ld! It's a bit hard when starting out and I didn't have a clue what to do :D (probably cuz I got stuck). eventually I got it. Good Job!
pretty creepy I would say. Sound plays a big role in this game and you nailed it. good job!
Definitely the best audio in this jam so far!
Good job!
oh wow, very solid entry! as everyone has said I also could see this becoming a mobile game. Everything felt really polished, simple controls, great concept. I would love to know a bit more on how you managed to create that screen like feel :D, maybe a blog post or something?
Anyways, really exited to get this on mobile! Good luck :)
haha lovely entry! I had a lot of fun with it! Combining 3 little minigames is a refreshing idea and it was executed very well. In my opinion the art fitted in perfectly! I can't imagine anything else that could achieve the same level of hilariousness.
great job!
Impressive! Very solid combo entry in my opinion. I have to agree with everyone else here: The controls were a bit confusing. It took a few minutes to actually figure out all the mechanics. As an AI lover myself I really liked how good the AI actually was!
Good Job!
Nice entry! pretty innovative idea and you nailed it. good job!
nice entry! feels very professionally made and it is! great music, graphics, movement all add up! Good job!
nice entry! Graphics fit in well and despite having any sounds I really enjoyed it! good job
Cool idea! I also was a bit confused what to do.. it's hard since the player has no clue what each button does or is supposed to do. best games often don't even have to tell how to play the game. sometimes you unconsciously learn about new things and mechanics the game introduces.
Music and mood of the game were excellent! execution was great. good job!
Nice entry! It was a bit difficult (highscore 21). Good graphics and audio. Well polished game. good job!
Stunning! everything fit in so well. grappling hook worked like a charm! One of the best games I have played in this jam! good job!
Nice Entry! I really loved how the game felt, very polished, nice music and sounds, graphics fit in well..
Few nitpicks: It would have been great to move diagonally. Also snapping to nearby plants wouldn't be a bad thing (very hard to polish, I know). I kinda felt that the game was bit too slow (I kinda got stuck sometimes since new plants weren't spawning). more action and speed wouldn't hurt :D
In conclusion: nice game! enjoyed playing it. good job!
Nice entry! both music and graphics were spot on. It would have been fun to have some kind of "boost" that you could use to boost your speed for a few secs (or it would give you a machine gun etc. possibilities are endless) . Best tactic is to stay in one corner and shoot everyone that tries to get you :D good job!
Nice entry! great use of the theme. It needs a bit more sound effects in my opinion. Good job!
nice entry dude! I loved the sounds, game felt very responsible. It would have been fun to move around the scene and watch the level from many perspectives. Good job!
wow, nice entry! Movement was so good, graphics fit in very well! I kinda also felt that the gameplay was a bit confusing. I wasn't sure how to play it correctly, I was just clicking everywhere and it seemed to work :D Good job!
Nice entry! feels very polished and controls are responsible. sound effects made the game really feel alive. Great use of the theme! Good job!
wtf I'm generally confused right now. It just froze. Am I doing something wrong?!
Nice entry! I was surprised how well that type of basic AI actually worked. one nitpick: I really feel that those missiles were a bit too hard to dodge. Really liked your little shooter :3 Good job!
Nice entry! pixel art is just great (especially the lava lamp ;))) )and the music fits in very well! Thank you for participating :)!
Nice entry! i wished that the game would have been a bit longer. If you're ready to learn new things (as every developer should :D) try to implement random map creation into this game! You'll definitely learn useful things and mechanics. good job!
Nice entry! I also felt that the animations were a bit clumsy. Mood of the game was absolutely spot on! music and those footstep -sounds really fit together. Good job!
Nice entry! It reminds me of those dance games few years back. nice execution. Loved the graphics and sound effects. Gameplay was very smooth and polished. Good job!
Wow, nice entry! Played this with my brother and it was super fun. nice execution, graphics were great, music fit in very well, amazing animations... list goes on and on! Good job!
Wow, nice entry dude! Just amazing how you were able to execute this game so perfectly :D music fits well with the graphics and the game was so fun I was actually laughing :D I was waiting something to happen tho. Something unexpected, for example an energy drink which would boost your speed. also it would have been fun to be able to pic many paragliders at once. good job!
Nice entry! the game felt very polished. I remember playing these type of games as a child :D I have nothing really to complain: smooth movement, execution was great, sounds were excellent. Good job!
Nice entry! the game fits the theme very well! I felt that the game punishes the player a bit too much. some type of checkpoint system inside the levels wouldn't hurt. I liked the graphics and the music. Its pity that you're not able to kill those forks (enemies) with anything (It would have been fun just to jump on top of them to kill'em). Good job!
nice entry! funny addition to a runner game :D HTML build somehow crashed when I touched the toilet in level 4 (not quite sure about the level) might be a rare one. Good job tho!
I was using chrome
Nice entry! I felt I was playing pacman again :D I sometimes kinda got stuck to the corners but it wasn't that bad. Its lacking on music and sounds but this is a ludum dare game so it's not that big of a deal :D good job!
Nice entry! Feels very polished. Loved the mood. good job!
Nice Entry! I loved those 8bit graphics and the music fits in very well. Good job!
Nice Entry! I liked how the music changed when you got more drunk :D great job!
nice entry dude! ld entry rarely has lan multiplayer opportunity. Loved the sound effects and graphics. good job :)
nice entry! Really nice mood and feeling! One nitpick: It wouldn't hurt to put some bar sounds(glass jingles, bar conversations etc.). Would make the game sound even more like a bar :) great job!
I don't know why, but the html build lagged so much :-/ I had to download the game before it started working.. Nice Entry! really liked the music
Top three baby !! good job
Nice entry! very nice dialogue system and aesthetics :)
Nice entry you got there!
nice entry! Best tactic is to kill the current wave before going to the next one ;-) record 346ft
wow, great entry! Would be a great mobile game! really nice soundtrack
nice entry! well executed and fit perfectly to the theme!
I experienced a bug you might want to know: my camera went all around the map, so high I wasn't able to see anything and sometimes under the ground :D here is a pic:
the game was unfortunately unplayable, I'm not sure what caused this to happen...
Nice Entry! Really liked the shadows!
nice entry and great execution! make sure that as a developer you're always challenging yourself and trying to learn new things as much as possible!
about the game: I liked your dialogue system. clear and simple :D also the games theme fits perfectly with the actual theme! noticed a bug witch might be easy to fix: after gaining weight, I couldn't turn left. I had to jump first and then the movement returned to normal.
good job!
Nice Game! Great graphics and sound effects. One nitpick: I kinda wanted to see the game to get harder overtime(speed would increase, much harder enemies etc.). it would be so monotonous. great job tho!
wow, great entry! movement is smooth and graphics fit the game nicely. Took me a few minutes to figure out that the other players were actually me :D fits the theme pretty well! Thank you for participating!
Nice Entry! managed to beat the game. Fits the theme very well!
Nice entry! fits the theme very well. good job!
Wow, no words... What an awesome game! Movement was spot on, music fit the game perfectly, graphics one of the best I've seen! list goes on and on... Best ludum dare game so far. Thank you for participating!
Nice Entry! well polished game!
Nice entry! I found a bug you might wants to see: I somehow respawned outside of the game area and couldn't get back. Might be a rare one tho, since i tried to recreate it but didn't succeed. work3.png
Nice game! just played it for 30 minutes and I also kinda feel that it's too punishing since all the houses are not in order. It makes the gameplay kinda confusing. I really enjoyed playing this! Good entry!
Nice entry! Best tactic apparently is to surround the pit with regular guards :D
Link doesn't work? work.png
Somehow I experience a bug, the hand drags behind my mouse and isn't responsible at all. I'm not sure what causes it. Nice concept tho!
Really nice graphics! they make the game feel alive. Movement is good and responsible. as everyone else have already said, i also kinda felt that the xp given was too little. I kinda waited for something to happen. Great game tho!
Dank game! As you said collisions are bit laggy but it doesn't ruin the game, actually it makes the game kinda feel alive :D. full points on humor!
I Managed to beat all the levels! does anyone else remember playing these types of games in their childhood(I'm under 18 :D)? Very nostalgic.
Nice Game! I noticed a bug: after launch I was only able to play the game once. after the first play the game kinda froze next time I tried to play it. I'm not sure if this was intended or just a bug tho.

I agree with @lamossus, My suggestion would be to upload a gameplay video on youtube and link it here so people can learn the basics by watching the gameplay.
Life Loop by Alexunz 2020-10-05T15:43:35Z ♥ 1
I really like how much gameplay you were able to add by just ageing the player on every loop. I was little dissappointed at the end cuz i really wanted to walk in a coffing or something :D solid entry, good job!
Loop Back to the Future by Lex 2020-10-05T02:31:59Z ♥ 2
Didn't expect to be that fun to be honest! It took me a minute to realize what I had to do but after that I really enjoyed it. solid entry, good job!
The Wasteland by wrimo 2020-10-05T02:27:09Z ♥ 2
Just played it myself and I agree with @quak. It might be because of fluctuating fps. make sure to multiply the rotation also by Time.deltatime to get rid of that problem. Anyway, all things concidered very solid entry, good job!

I think the graphics are the most charming thing about this game. Only thing that catches my eye is the camera motion being a little jittery at times. Everything else is spot on! Solid entry, good job!

Uffern by IndieDevDan 2020-10-04T23:56:39Z ♥ 1
Man that thing scared the living shit out of me! It was a little annoying getting stuck on the walls while that ugly thing was chasing me. In unity you can just add a physics material with 0 friction to you colliders (I would consider it a bug fix π). also when closing the crafting UI I accidentally pressed the escape key by instinct and I had to start all over. Maybe another warning before closing would fix that? Everything else was spot on. Solid entry, Good job!
LoopHole by PixelMoose Studio 2020-10-04T23:22:34Z ♥ 2
Donβt worry about engine problems, thereβs nothing to complain π A good game that follows the theme, has depth and is actually fun to play is a really well done for a weekend. I really liked the simple tutorial and the intro. Solid entry, good job!

I really dig how responsible the controls are. The game keeps your interest up since you really want to know how the music evolves as you gather more discs. Really nice touch to add different BPM options too! Great entry, good job!
The Loop by Jin9310 2020-10-04T23:19:19Z ♥ 1
Here is my comment on your game: I was impressed by the nice little tutorial at the start! I really like the concept of restricting the players movement to a certain trajectory, until I realized that you can just spam the hell out of the switching key to just go forwards. Maybe restricting the ability to switch directions somehow? Great job on your game! Good work π

sorry to bother you but am I doing something wrong or is the game broken... My probe isn't moving at all, just shifting aroung.
