I recieved an error, "There should be 'Don't Get Drunk_Data' folder next to the executable"
It appears that all of my links just don't work(Windows link works fine). I have also built every platform incorrectly. Am I allowed to change the links and build every platform all over again?
Yes if your links aren't working please fix them or we cannot try your game!
the problem might be that I used official Unity assets in my menus and for some reason that causes the crash. I'm a noob in this field so it might take a few hours to fix :D. I'll keep you updated!
The folder is missing. I'm not super familiar with unity but you might have to manually drag the data folder into the archive if it isn't doing so automatically
I think I got everything built as they should with the data files. Thank you!
This is great, love it.
Glad you like it! :)
I can't believe I got 39. Or 33 can't remember for sure. I couldn't understand anything, I was just jumping and it seemed to work. Nice game!
Surprisingly hard, I often ended up missing the timing on the jumps and landing face first into a wall =) Good on completing the game. The drunk effect was smooth - is that a shader you've made?
@mess110 The trick is to avoid the beers ;)
Thanks for the review :) my first intention was to create them myself and kinda force myself to learn how make shaders. I ended up using publicly available Unity image effect scripts. just used few of them together to achieve the effect :D @imphenzia
Windows build worked for me - this is so simple and fun; I loved it! The drunk mechanics were fun to play with (I got my character blasted and still managed to get to about 30)
One nitpick - it'd be nice if the restart key weren't the same as the jump key - I missed my score a few times because I was trying to do that last jump and missed.
Great entry; thanks for sharing!

Glad you liked it! And you're right, the key should be changed :D I'm planning to turn this game into a mobile in the near future with more content of course ;D I'll keep you updated!
I was actually thinking to myself this would be a great mobile game when I was playing it. You definitely should!
Mac version refuses to open for me. Any chance of getting a web version to play?
@colossal-gnome I'm sorry to hear that :/ As you can see, i have had a fair share of building problems :D I'll look into it first thing tomorrow and keep you updated! :)
Understandable. I've yet to get windows and linux builds of my game out the door.. I should probably try to get that done tonight.
I Removed the MAC build entirely and replaced it with http build. Have fun! @colossal-gnome
Wow, that is some _potent_ beer! :D My highest score is 15. lol
I didn't survive long enough to know, do the effects wear off after some time? If not that would probably be a good addition.
Yeah, my intentions was to add some kind of energy drink which would give you a double jump for a few seconds and lower your drunkness, but I ran out of time unfortunately :-/
Wow, that was fun. I actually enjoyed it a lot even when 'drunk' too. The effect didn't make me dizzy, so overall great game.
A really great idea for a game, and it was easy and fun to play. Both the music and graphics was good. Overall a very well made LD game. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it! Actually the short looping crappy music was my first composition ever :D, but luckily it fits the game quite well
Nice work in this jam! There always works well a runner style in this jams, and the theme just fits great in here. I love the drunk effect! :D
A well polished game with a nice premise that matched the theme. Loved that it challenged my usual preconceptions of this genre (usually you're meant to collect the pickups but in this it serves you to avoid them). The screen going absolutely nuts when drinking too much was also a nice touch even though it did make me as nauseous as the character. I also like that it was procedurally generated.
Once you start drinking it gets harder to avoid drinking more. 10/10 Most accurate beer drinking experience.
Hahahahha this game was super fun to play. Score 63 I think! Super cool drunk effect by the way. I'm an idiot cause at first I was just trying to drink all the beers. Shame on me
Good game! I wanted to see how many drinks I could grab to see how crazy the effect would get :) It felt like the jump was a teeny bit laggy to me.
I do not like beer, so the effect looks very realistic! Although it is possible the impact from one mug is too strong for a long game. I was having fun, thank you
Thank you for the reviews! I really appreciate it.
and yeah, plan "I'll just drink one" never works :D
Not fair!, i just like to drink beer! HAHA
Nice game, and pretty cool effects on the drunkside.
Maybe it would be fun if added something to avoid with the arrow down key
Yeah, that was my plan originally but I kinda forgot about it :D the feature accelerates you towards the ground if you're airborne ;D it's pretty useful actually :)
Just played, it's really a cool idea ! I love the fact that you can also avoid beers. The game doesn't just get more difficult as time goes, it gets difficult as you drink, and it gets harder not to drink when you're drunk. A bit like in real life I guess. It's hard to say no to a "final beer" when you already had some.
Graphics are good and clear enough to make the thing understandable
Glad you liked it! Thank's for the review :)
Holy, this is ramping up fast xD I love the art style but after a few beers this is literally unplayable - do you sober up after running a little? That would be nice
I love it! Simple game, but keeps you playing. I like the effect it has on your screen, and the fact that the beer doesn't really kill you, just makes the game harder! Awesome submission.
Glad you liked it! My original plan was to create some kind of energy drink witch would give you a double jump for a few seconds and decrease drunkness but I hadn't time to implement it :-/.
It's actually more fun when you get drunk. The music fits the mood. Great entry good job!
Well, I might be very bad at drinking, because I can't hit over 20... I like the graphical effects when you get drunk, and the music remind me a lot of Undertale  Am I wrong ?
Hilarious game for a not so hilarious subject. It becomes a bit hard to fast, but maybe that was the point. Well done!
Thank you guys! and yeah, I took some inspiration from Undertale ;-) great game
I think my character is a little drunk drujk.png
Small game where the drunk effect has been done very well.
This surprised me of how fun it ended up being! I was laughing a lot with the drunk modifier.
I'd only suggest if you would ever want to keep working on it, would be cool to have a modifier to become less drunk like running under a shower or eating carbs. Or get super silly and have a roller blade scenario. I know likely you wont, but its something I want haha.
@zantze glad you liked it :) ! @Jacob-Janerka and yeah, my friend told me that the character looks exactly alike to a celebrity we have here in Finland :D (He's almost a meme here lol) so I'll turn this game into a fan made mobile game with added content of course ;-D. nice suggestions you got there! I'll might implement them in the future. I'll keep you updated. thanks again!
Look, I thought it was cool!
Really good game! I love it, The strongest point is the music, even if it's simple it's really entertaining. I would suggest more types of buildings. BTW the Linux Build doesn't work :(
Oh, I kinda guessed that.. And yeah I'm planning to expand this game so all feedback is welcome! Thank you for the review :)
Well, I got drunk! Nice runner - more obstacles, particles and death animation would be nice future additions!
Fun game! I made an endless runner with somewhat similar effects for mobile before. Be careful, camera effects are slow on mobile. I got a high score of 50, somehow I got about 30 of those points while so drunk I couldn't see what was happening!
The flappy bird of beers. I tried to get drunk on purpose and was rewarded with a migraine. 10/10 would drink again!
I was warned, got drunk anyway :P really liked the game, drunk effect is really cool
I got to around 113 but was just spamming spacebar for the last 30 seconds. The gameplay could use some additional wrinkle... some sort of "risk/reward" with the beer collection. Like, score multipliers as beer companies begin to sponsor the parkour guy. I... found the music quite grating. I cannot abide midi horns.
Really innovative idea, i like your concept and the graphics, well done.
Nice game! loved the effect when the character get drunk! I tried to do something similar with my game (also beer related) but couldn't get the shaders to work on Phaser :(
Thank you guys! I really appreciate your feedback :) Nice improvement ideas. I was thinking adding other "themes" to the map (outdoors, hallways, maybe forest etc.) and I may add character customization :D also multipliers would be a great addition!
@arya thank you for the advice! I'll be careful :)
@arvejeitor sorry to hear that :-/ I also got stuck for almost 6 hours and wasted a lot of time. Luckily I got them working. if you're interested, the open source is available for you to download :)
Nice to see another drunk game. Simple but fun.
So much fun. I wish the music was more varied. I replayed it loads and it it got a bit repetative.
Glad you liked it! And yeah, its f*cking annoying but better than nothing tho :D
One of my favorite games so far! Simple but super fun and challenging at the same time. Replayed quite a bit so far. ;) Congratulations!
Funny concept, fits the theme very well! The music reminded me of megalovania from undertale :P
Thank you both! made my day :) and yeah the little looping track is inspired by megalovania ;D
I like the concept a ton and the execution of the graphics and gameplay is great as well! However, the only thing it is lacking for me is content. I don't see a way to reduce the effect and there is not much in the way of variety. But this is a LD game so I get that its really hard to fit that stuff in. Nice game!
great idea - great use of theme - excellent graphics - polished mechanics - winner
wow guys, thank you! @turbulentwinds You're right, content is very small but I'm working on it atm :D I'll maybe start posting updates on my progress here if someone is interested! thanks again :)
@tulipekoni I am interested to see where this goes. Tag me if you do an updated version, please :P
had some fun playing! managed to do pretty well:
dont-get-drunk.JPG
some things i enjoyed: - the challenge of platforming while drunk - the little dude with his little hood
some things i didn't really enjoy: - the music could use some help - maybe a little more variety on the roof besides red boxes?
altogether, i thought this was a pretty neat entry. good work!
haha nice interpretation of the theme. Good job. I like the minimalism graphics.
I really like your idea and the game was really easy to just pick up and play. However the music did get a bit annoying after a while. Overall a solid and fun little game.
Thank you guys! The music is f*cking annoying and I'm aware of that :D I'm currently making and adding features to the game (I want to turn this into a mobile in the future) so all feedback is welcome :)
Loved the game idea and it was fun to play, the camera effects really made it more interesting to play
I've got a similar entry with yours but I'm in jam and you are in compo. Surely your creation is executed better than mine. Anyway nice entry!
I like the idea of the game, was in general really fun to play. Especially becuse game are often pretty loud when you start them, I appreciate, that you implemented volume option, but the problem with this is, that it resets, when you press Start and it gets loud again..
Very cool game. At first, I was trying to get every beer that I could, just to see how it turned out. So it's really cool that you can essentially play the game in two different ways, so to say.
I really liked the screen twisting effect. The first time it occurred, I was like "WTF is happening" haha
Some ideas: - I would have liked all of the fonts to match the art style - Maybe adding a counter for beer and a counter for distance would result in a fun experience (maybe even adding a score that's calculated from those two values?)
I like the level graphics nd the core idea. Good job!
Great game. Funny and pretty awesome music!
If you are interested, please check out my LD40 game [Escape Infection!](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/escape-infection)
Hilarious! I got my best score when I inadvertently downed one too many pints and then couldn't see a thing because everything went foggy, blurred and swirly. Then I started to play your game.
This is a very funny interpretation of the theme, but it works!
Really good game! Just love it!
Solid use of the theme, and a refreshing take on an endless runner! I really like the distortion effect!
Great job!
Nice try for your first ld jam! The game is well polished, neat graphic, and nice music! i love the effect of getting drunk! btw, the game experience can be better, i always felt the jump got a few sec delay, plus if you can have more items such as dash beer, and player can slowly sober, then player should enjoy in judging the choice of picking the special beer!
Distrotion effect is really fun. However the mistake-tolerance is really low.
Fun game! Close to theme! good background music!Screen Shot 2017-12-09 at 5.45.00 PM.png
I like the idea, it's pretty much impossible after collecting a couple of beers though! Maybe make the increase in distortion a bit less.
Awesome game! I think it's the game I rated higher. The graphics, the concept, the music, the humor haha just awesome!
Pretty much a dead accurate sim of me trying to get home after a high school party.
Nice game. Could see this working on mobile :-)
Haha, as this game made me have a headstoke after a couple of tries, i guess the drunk effect is indeed respected in all due form xD Totally into the theme! Difficulty's going up a bit too fast imo, but it's a fast and enjoyable game around^^ controls and visual effects are smooth, i wonder how it goes after your 4th pint^^
Thank you guys! really helpful ideas right there. and yeah, the game is lacking on content and may get too hard too fast (there is no way to get sober).
@neodan plot twist: you'll get more drunk :D
Very interesting idea :). Loved the drunk effect! By the way, did the sound slider actually worked? I changed it but when i went into the game the music volume was the same as before lol.
Good job! very original take on the theme.
@jaimuepe yeah the slider is broken :D I implemented it into the menus but forgot to save the changes between the two scenes :D
Pretty fun game overall.
I really like the way the drunk effect was implemented and it was a really interesting take on the platformer genre.
Nice idea! But music was annoying (clearly copy of megalovania) Overall good job on your first ludum dare! :grinning:
So I played that quite drunk and I have to say: it's a pretty accurate simulator. Well done.
What a great drunk effect! Really fun game with good controls! One time I was able to go for a long time with everything totally blurry, even though I didn't know what I was doing-- hey just like really being drunk!
I'm still at 26 tops, but... what a cool idea, and super fitting! The music is catchy, although it can become repetitive, and the visual effects to portray how drunk you are work perfectly well.
I even feel a little sick. Ultra realistic! :grinning:
Great job!
Drunk effect is done really well. Game play is a bit basic, but definitely fun for a bit. I also made a similar game that adds a lot of effects, but I like your drunk effect a lot more.
Congratulations on your first jam; this is my first jam too. You successfully created an enjoyable experience. Bravo! I got drunk, is that a bad thing?
IGotDrunk.png
This is a successful game because you knew your limitations and worked within those confines. You didn't try to do too much. You kept it simple and fun, and it was. Part of the beauty of not knowing a lot about programming is that it forces one to be creative, and you embraced that. Cheers!
Haha, I can't stop laughing. It's like you're absolutely useless after the fifth beer, life is nothing but a blur (kinda too lifelike for me!). It's straightforward and simple, but so much fun - great entry :)
Had too many beers to make it past 30ish - nice idea and cool effect! The jump could be a little bit higher/longer and it took me a bit to understand that I shouldn't hit the red boxes - maybe a few spikes at the front? :) Well done, keep it up!
Really fun game! Think this is the most fun LD entry I have played so far. The other ones couldn't keep me interested for more than 15 minutes, but at this one I just really wanted to get further than my last run.
It's easy at first, then ramps up pretty quickly. It's kinda funny that technically nothing hinders you from continuing to run madly along the rooftops, (as you do) except that wicked drunken haze, which was well done. Music was short but sweet! Nice work!
Very nice game, particularly loved the wavy lines as you get more drunk. Music becomes a little grating after a few minutes.
Really clever concept, simple but damn it works so well! Tried to get as drunk as possible, and felt so rewarded to be able to jump over that 3 last platforms even though I didn't know what I was doing at all :D
Well played, it's a great entry.
Looks easy at first, but damn, it was challenging. Great job executing your idea. Simple, but fun :)
Love that drunkenness effect! Fits the theme well. As others have mentioned, the music get repetitive after a while. Nice game.
I have a thing for game where the character gets wasted, ahah. I would get cool if you could get more sober through time passed or bonuses.
My comments:
-Smooth shaders, and really good idea this game is just shader stuff added, love it.
-The theme was a perfect fit on this game. Simple, yet original and fun.
-Ăšnfair deaths, no room for error is not so fun.
-Points were boring, just one by one, without taking account of the beers you had, or the red cubes you avoided, even the visual number was not making a favour to the rest of the visual.
Ahahahah, amazing. Was really enjoyable to play it. Still a couple of feedback points: Mechanical wise it's ok, jumps work well, rolling is useless(like 90% of the time), you should have added some kind of barrier where you would need to roll under to get through. Some ideas if you want to continue to develop a bit on the game: try to add more depth to it, with things like, highscores, number of beers, time, etc... Maybe let the player move faster/slower, and that you would only die if you get out of the screen. UI wise, it works for what you wanted, could have used a better font(check textmesh pro in unity it's free), and maybe add a small kind of background to it so that it stands out easier. To the losing screen add the text "To restart the game press spacebar" or something similiar so that people would understand that they could restart the game without it being accidentaly. Maybe add a small menu to it, to go back to the main menu. Instead of exiting the game immediately have them go back to the main menu and then exit. Art wise the buildings are quite good made, the character however could been done a little better. Audio wise it's good, a bit repetitive, but in this time frame and as a compo it's hard to do alot. Maybe add a little bit more sfx when catching a beer or when you lose.
I enjoyed the couple of minutes I played the game for, and I understand the hard work needed to create something like this, especially solo, needing to do everything!. Our team also worked hard to create a game for the jam. You can check it out [here](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/jazzy-beats)! :whale:
The game itself is weirdly hanging on the fact that its most interesting thing is the thing you don't want to happen. After hitting a few drinks it becomes impossible to play - not "difficult", but impossible. So... Good effort, interesting, would be good to see more design around the drunkness rather than just it being impossible to actually have meaningful interaction.
Cool idea but it's almost impossible when you go fast. Why see half the screen of whats behind the guy? In these games its better to see more what you have in front of you
But the real question is: "Why there are some flying pints on this building roof?" Great game and great theme interpretation. Good job! (Best score: 50)
This was a well made and fun game. The drunk effects were really cool and the art fit nicely with the mood and premise. It also surely fits the theme!
I did not last long unfortunately, I ended up always slamming face against a wall after missing the jump xD
Really fun and polished game, congratulations :)
Nice game! I liked the effects, the art, and the music fits with the game-play quite well. Unfortunately, I am garbage, and I would always smash into a wall. Great game!
Guys, thank you for all the feedback! It's indispensable for me :)
@le-slo Yeah, that point system was the easiest way to do things :-/ there really should be risk-reward point system but I haven't figured out what it could be. Someone suggested some kind of sponsor mechanism. the more you drink the more sponsors you'll get, more sponsors = more points. if any ideas pop to your head, feel free to suggest'em :)
@robinhoodpt wow, I really appreciate your effort! I've been taking some inspiration from a game called Vector (mainly obstacles and map ideas). I had a looping backround ready but decided that it would be better without one :D. all those little UI elements are fast and easy things to add too. Thanks again!
@peredom that's an excellent point! I wonder why I haven't thought that before. I'll definitely change that in the future. Thanks!
Congrats for first LD! Really solid little game.
I also prefer to play drunk ^^ Well done for your first!
Nice job on the graphics! Looks simple, but you chose the colors for boxes and background really well so the players always see what's coming up next.
The drunk effect was cool too, but I read in one of your comments that you didn't actually write the shader code? Being such a large part of your game, I'm not sure, if you shouldn't have submitted for the jam in that case. But maybe you did change the code sufficiently, so I don't really care, good choice anyway :)
The music was quite annoying as others including yourself have already said, but I agree that it's better than nothing since it adds an arcade-y kind of feel.
Funny idea and really no better way to realize it (I think)! It's simple, but I don't even think that it would be better if it weren't so simple. It's built around the core idea, and that is good. I (really) enjoyed playing it!
Decent game, simple and to the point, which is a good thing for that kinda game. Drunkness could increase a bit more slowly maybe, since it gets to the point of hardly seeing anything anymore a tad quickly, but that's just a minor nitpick.
this is so simple and fun; I loved it
This is a quite funny and addictive game. My head is spinning now . It fits the theme pretty well, graphics are okay, it's quite innovative. What can be improved is the music which is really too repetitive, that's make me stop the game and also the effect of "drunk" which is too intense too me.
Made me nauseous really quickly.
I reviewed your game in my compilation video, here : https://youtu.be/WCYF7ixLX8k?t=229 Don't mind to ask for translation it's in french ;)
I really like the wave effect. I was trying to do something similar with Unity shaders for one of my other games, so I'll definitely take a look at your source code. The best score I got was 29. I sort of wish there was a way to "sober up" if you have picked up a beer for so long. Once it gets too wavy, there really isn't any way to save yourself. I really didn't use the roll control much, as it seemed like all of the beer could be jumped over. I do like that the levels were randomly generated, so it was like a new game every time I played.
This is a pretty interesting game. I liked its simple innovation in where the player avoids picking up objects rather than being encouraged to collect them. This is usually not done often in infinite runner games. One concept that I disliked about this game was that its music loop was extremely short and caused the music to sound repetitive. I would also recommend continuing the music loop after each time the player died, so the music doesn't start over when the player respawns. Even though the graphics were simple, I liked the aesthetic. Finally, I loved the whole drunk effect. I just wish that there was a way to become sober as the game pretty much became impossible when the player became too drunk. Overall, good work with this game!
hahaha, had a great time, looks really good, easy pickup 'n' play! reminds me of the old c-64 game bozo. ;) Thinking about it. It's lovely to see how game jam brings back weird experimental ideas similar to the way programmers experimented during the early 80's
Nice game for your first time participating. Some more game elements would have been nice (especially when drunk), but it's fun nevertheless. My highest score was 49.
Haha this was great, love that distortion effect! Maybe try changing the jump mechanic so the longer you hold the jump key, the higher you jump? Anyway, aweseome job and would love to see more! :D
