LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Postal Predicament by SaxOps1 2017-12-08T21:58:39Z

I like the idea of the game in general, but it needs some polishment in my opinion. -The bug that you can walk of the bridges is quite frustrating. -I think you should be able to put parcels to the storage bag you took it from, because if you can't you get soft locked pretty easily. -Also, is there just one level, or does the transition not work?

With this issues fixed, and (if there aren't) more levels, I think this can get a really nice game.

Kritter Keeper by Archimagus 2017-12-07T21:04:52Z

Fun game, highscores and/or achievements always get me. Healing would be more usable, if every monter had the same comor, when damaged, but I guess this is a deliberate decision.

Lonk's Greedy Adventure by javicepa 2017-12-07T19:50:13Z

I was a bit sceptical at the beginning, because I thought you just lose height for each item, but can playthrough anyway. But the leveldisgn is so awesome and you really have to think about, what you should pick up for the next ending, and what you should avoid. After realizing that, the game really got me. I got all 6 endings in the compo version and after all the only thing, I would like to criticize is, that nothing happend, when i brought 5 rubys to the buy with the sack.. why is this and will it be changed? Also tried this afterwards in the post compo version with the same result.

Headstuck by fullmontis 2017-12-07T20:10:44Z

I really like the concept and general idea, also enjoyed the first playthrough. Despite beeing no native speaker, I had no problem keeping up to the text speed, too. Only thing, which is a bit.. stupid? (that sounds meaner than it is meant to be ) about the story: Why I get a gameover, if I tell the thougts and feelings, but if she does the first step everything is fine?

Milk Hunt by Weizengaming 2017-12-08T15:38:12Z

@wakka2 Thanks for the comment, can you explain how you get stuck and/or maybe post a screenshot, so we can try to fix that?

Milk Hunt by Weizengaming 2017-12-09T11:10:27Z

@jynspielt Do you get stuck due to the cows, or without a noticeable reason? Getting encircled by the first 8 cow is a game element, for which we think about changig it a bit because it seems quite some people don't like it. If you get stuck without a noticeable reason, we would really appreciate some further explanation when and how this happens (maybe vid or screenshot also), so we can try to fix this.

Milk Hunt by Weizengaming 2017-12-14T18:12:16Z

@lazzor 40 is a pretty good score(probably even the highest scored since now, I managed to get 37 on hard myself). On which difficulty did you played? If you haven't tried the hard difficulty, this could maybe be interesting for you, since you got a pretty good score.

Don't get drunk by tulipekoni 2017-12-09T11:48:58Z

I like the idea of the game, was in general really fun to play. Especially becuse game are often pretty loud when you start them, I appreciate, that you implemented volume option, but the problem with this is, that it resets, when you press Start and it gets loud again..

LD44 — Your life is currency

Ultimate Financial Championship by Jezzamon 2019-05-17T11:41:37Z

I came here from your Highscore post and accepted the challenge :D #1.png

Also I found a bug, when you have over 1e+21, others don't get half your money anymore and also when you reload, your money is gone. It still gets displayed but seems to be stored as e.g. 2 instead of 2.xxe+21

Oh and also sarah snyder came along and also used me to get to the leaderboard. Who are you, identify yourself!? :P

Overall a great idea, but with the trading between 2 persons as single best method by far, everything else becomes pretty irrelevant. So for a later installment some balance adjustments would be nice to keep all mechanics relevant.

Tragedy of MAC -83F by Kpable 2019-05-03T09:51:25Z

Hey, interesting idea. It seems there are some issues with the abilities though, sometimes I fall really slow and sometime not. I feel like this could be related to the hover mechanic but not in the intended way. Also it is very unreliable, if the character actually jumps, also not sure, if this comes with the later limitations (no motor?) and should be this way though. The only thing, which definitly seems to be not as intended is the battery, it becomes lower and lower but even on restart doesn't reset to 4/4.

Mana Loss by Tempii 2019-05-02T17:14:59Z

Thank you all for the great feedback! I myself wasn't quite satisfied with my entry, but your kind words helped :)

@entropy, @ristoretto I uploaded a new version additional to the actuel entry, if you want to try it again. With the new version every screensize should be working (The font gets pretty illegible on low resoultions though)

@hopeen To deal with taht problem at least a little I have the battle log, where you can read what happens, but if I can manage to add animations that for sure whould be great and way better. I'll see if I find time for that.

Mana Loss by Tempii 2019-05-06T09:18:05Z

@positive thanks for the great feedback, I'll definitely keep working on this. Right now I am working on animations for the enemy turn and a menu system. When i am finished with that I will work on some of your ideas, I really like them.

@flamus You can see your HP on the top right corner of your player card, I'll make it more prominent in a next iteration

Mana Loss by Tempii 2019-05-07T07:22:23Z

@zyrconium Yeah I noticed that issue as well and I'll add to my TODO list to fix it :)

Mana Loss by Tempii 2019-05-09T14:00:20Z

@rmleverton thanks for the feedback, I'm not sure, how that was possible, do you remember how he got to 0? By a spell, monster attack or by playing a card himself? That would help finding the problem.

Mana Loss by Tempii 2019-05-10T11:38:26Z

Thank you very much for your comprehensive feedback @sergi-montaner!

To adress your points: +Are you sure, that you couldn't summon a creature? You should start in the spawn phase, where you can summon something or skip that phase, next somes the main phase where you can cast spells and attack with your monsters. Something like hearthstone might work yeah, but also like hearthstone some option to skip/end turn is neccesary, because you can cast as many spells as you want and the gae cant find out, if you are done, or you aren't.

+This behaviour is intended (so it is not that big of an advancement, if you draw more monsters than your enemy at start) and I thought it was clear by writing "spawn A monster" in the log, I will change it to "spawn one monster" so this gets clearer.

+I will definitly make the life more prominent in the next iteration, since this was critiziced by quite some people already. I'll also try to switch the players position with the battle logs and look what I like better.

+Good point, I should definitly change the colour, just like you did!

+This was included in the design because I intended to make animations for drawing and discarding, but I didn't made the jam version. Hopefully will be part of a later version, otherwise they will probably be cut.

+I'll put a different background on my graphics TODO list :)

+and lastly feedbackwise, just like the draw/discard animations this is pretty much the next thing on my TODO list and I am currently working on it.

Thanks again for the great feedback, I definitely plan on keep working on this, so every feedback is well appreciated!

Zombie Rush by Johannimations 2019-05-01T18:30:14Z

Fun game, but i think there is a balancing issue, the 5 extra seconds per zombie are really strong, I managed to beat the game first try and after that one first try beet the challenge. Very interesting controlls :D

They ran out of mana by Sergi Montaner 2019-05-09T08:53:09Z

Nice game, I had a very similar approach and haven't seen a lot of games with this a approach so far :) Nicely designed cards, there are some nice synergies. If you want to try a different card game without mana, here is my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/mana-loss I also got here, because someone told me in my comments, this is quite similar to my game :D

Space Shooter Redux 2D by Heldernogunity 2019-05-01T17:29:10Z

I also tried the "fly behind the strategy" and also found out, that since there is no ship collision you can just sit directly on top of the enemies and even damage them, when they don't hit you, sind they are bigger.

And if you do it correctly it kinda looks like you upgraded your ship :D upgrade.png

Divine Worshiping by Maxime Cyr 2019-05-14T12:37:38Z

Like others said, there is bit of a balancing issue. In my opinion specially in absolution, making a click worth twice as much as before is okay for a clicker I guess (even if a lower multiplier would be fine as well) but the cost has to go up as well. I tried a "speedrun" an managed to finish the game under a minute by spamming absolution an than converting everybody in one click.absolution.png

I also tried some other "themed" walkthroughs, like no sacrifices (3:53) and no click (2:03) so yeah, even with the balancing beeing a little off a definitly had fun with this. I also really liked the simple graphics, why aren't you in the graphics voting?

Oh and I also thought it would be nice, if you could pick the build options with numbers (1 for priest, 2 for church etc.) or holf shift while "building" something to keep the "building" on the cursor so you can put multiple instances faster on the map.

Also despite there being different areas of influence for the buildings it seemed to me there wasn't any influence on the efficency based on the positioning. It would be nice, if only people get converted when they are in reach of any preacher, church, or scripture.

Divine Worshiping by Maxime Cyr 2019-05-15T08:01:44Z

@pl4typus well, but that is still pretty slow and a lot of sacrifices.. 48.PNG

:P

Heart Sacrificer by Ruztan 2019-05-01T17:14:13Z

Fun game and after your information here in the comments I also figured out the double jump (I always tried to perform the second jump mid-air and not right at the start). The shooting mechanic feels pretty clunky and sometimes he wouldn't shoot even if I presssed e or q before, don't know why. When dying on spikes I also landed quite often in a death loop at the start of the level. see video: https://youtu.be/D_qG-WJFf2Q The fact that you can stand still mid air and also go to the standing sprite in that case is also a little awkward. Despite this beeing quite some negative points I liked the game and completed every level, also I liked the graphics.

NecroBlood by Little Valhalla 2019-05-17T13:56:13Z

Is there still a download for the original jam entry? I mean, that still is what should be rated, or am I wrong?

Face to Death by pequenodev 2019-05-16T11:32:43Z

I played both the jam and the post Jam version and you made the game already way better after the jam. Like others said, the jumping mechanics area little "weird" ad floaty in the initiall entry and as well as @sn4pi I needed quite some time to even get past the first enemy. The post Jam version feels already way better gameplay wise and I also liked the added mechanics of gum and chasing humans. Good juob, I always love to see people keep working on their project post jam :)

LD46 — Keep it alive

Lost Goblins by pndaa 2020-04-21T13:09:56Z

Nice Game, 11 Goblins couldn't be saved, especially the fourth lever in the two many dors level got me. When it was mentioned I thought it might be a hint to use it now and instantly killed all 3 goblins :joy:

As others mentioned a speed up or skip to the end of the level would be nice so you don't have to press the next button like ten times in some levels.

In the to many dors level I also thought it might be a nice addition if had key assigned to the levers (like 1,2,3 for the small ones). This would make the controlls way more comfortable with the scrolling imho. Overall I had a lot of fun and the game was nicely polished.

Chicken Coop by Bram 2020-04-21T13:27:49Z

Hey, I really liked the idea for using the theme. It's a shame you weren't able to finish it, are you planing on keep working on the game? I would love to test it after a little polishing and balancing :)

Probably stuff you are well aware of and just weren't able to finish but here are some thoughts of mine:

-It was a litte unclear to me which enemy is targeted by the towers (is it the colsest to the tower, because in the most td games I know it's rather something like furthest or latest on the track)

-You can place the towers on the track which I only realised a few waves into the game because I just out of habit placed them on the green

-You can place towers on other towers

Immune Defense by Tempii 2020-04-21T14:17:11Z

@nonon @petitpois since both of you got stuck after level 1 (first of all, you ar sure all enemies are gone right? Not missing one out of sight?), which build are you using? Maybe this can help me debug. And did you get the "LEVEL COMPLETE!" message or did that also not trigger?

Normally there should be 4 levels, not one

Immune Defense by Tempii 2020-04-21T14:18:30Z

@mickgerritsen which build are you using? In the web version you have to click once into the window to make the movement working, probably that is the problem?

Immune Defense by Tempii 2020-04-21T14:22:10Z

@kristian-kurktchiev @philip-sawyer @yskuma The difficlty curve is definitly not polished a noticable ramp up for level 3 and 4 is intended though. Especially Level 4 is meant to be a real challenge, since I tend to make pretty hard games at LD and wanted to include at least one really hard level this LD also :)

Immune Defense by Tempii 2020-04-21T14:26:47Z

@llwyd thanks for the comment, we thought about that two but we liked the idea that the main thread is the human dying (partly because of the theme) and getting damaged yourself is only a little thread with moving fast through the level and bumping into enemies. Since they don't chace you we set you helath to 2 so you are only allowed to bump into them once, it could be an idea to set it even to 1 since they aren't chasing you. Also of course there could be different enemy types later and we also thought of ally NPCs both of this wasn't possible for us to include in the entry though. Maybe we will ad stuff later to also make the game less repetetive (as @twistashio mentioned)

Immune Defense by Tempii 2020-04-21T14:53:30Z

@jojo-the-clown thank you very much for the explaining  What exactly do you mean with "the WebGl build doesn’t load the ‘start’ and ‘end’ text"? With exception of the "exit" button the builds should be pretty much the same and also seem to be for me. Oh and which browser ar you using (I'm testing with chrome)? Maybe this causes the difference?

Immune Defense by Tempii 2020-04-23T00:01:39Z

@jojo-the-clown thanks for the feedback, In the day 1 patch I added a hint to start the game after defeating all enemies in the menu.

The misplacing of the buttons and text seem to occur because the browser is zoomed, I'll also look into way for fixing this.

Edit: I fixed the issue with the wrongly scaled UI and uploaded a new verion to itch (see description)

Carrying is Caring by Vederant 2020-04-21T13:50:21Z

Hey, overall a really great game and a nice idea. i also absolutely loved the graphics! I think the jar could have a slightly bigger hitbox, two or three times i dashed just through it (actually just besides it but so close that I feeled it should have been close enough), this would make the game less frustrating.

Also I found out, that you can hit enemies multiple times if you click fast enough (just did this because I thought they might require multiple hits to be killed) and that way you can make the game think you killed multiple enemies.

LightQuest by Tempii 2022-04-04T13:00:39Z

@defrag @devparty @daniel-foutz @antti-haavikko @very-bad-bunny-studio Thanks to everyone for informing me. I've set up the itch page last night but left it as draft and did not publish.. Should bei public now.

LightQuest by Tempii 2022-04-04T13:25:31Z

@turkey @vbj-gamedev I also realised that right before publishing. I made the mistake to playtest mainly with my gamepad with joystick which feels way better imho with this controller. Will definitly work on the play and feel with keyboard if I keep working on this

Steady Birds by Fractal 2022-04-05T20:27:29Z

Great game and polish. Great idea and great art! Wanted to try and get 100 after two runs with about 60 seconds. 92 was the best I could get.

It Burns by TescoOne 2022-04-10T09:47:22Z

455.png

Very nice idea and controlls. If the infinite dash is planned you could also try out to allow the player to just hold the button, so no mashing is needed. It#s just fine the was it is now though as well. As others said I also was a little confused at first, that I couldn't dash to the left.

In the main menu it states to press "Z" to jump, this should be fixed, since it is "W".

Great job!

The End Is Coming by MOOOKS 2022-04-14T07:28:11Z

Really nice game. Gameplay felt good and I also loved the sound design. Also got a decent score with 155 I guess :) end.PNG

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Pair's Lair by beta 2018-05-10T12:59:05Z

In general a very fun game. Just like @Paulo Brunassi in my opinion the reach of the attack could be a little bigger though. The high speed of the enemies wasn't really a problem for me, since the speed isnÄt huge all the time.

PS: Came here through your post and I'm happy I could help getting closer to 20. Since I didn't had the time to vote a lot since now we are also still missing a lot of votes, so i would be really gratefull, if you might rate our game as well :)

Hyper Simox 3000 by Paulo Brunassi 2018-05-10T13:15:01Z

I really loved playing the game. Nice idea for the theme and absolutely great pixel art. The only thing I would probably change is allowing 1 or 2 hits before you die (so you aren't a one hit), for everything else I don't have anything to criticize.

CardRush by Weizengaming 2018-05-11T23:15:28Z

@DaragonGames Thanks for the feedback, that error message is caused by a dumb mistake I made in the end when time wa running out and occurs when playing the "gravity field" card. I fixed that and will upload a updated version, so and can be played with all cards.

CardRush by Weizengaming 2018-05-16T08:56:58Z

@JoshCanProgram @Langotriel We know, that the gravity field card crashes the game but sadly recognized it after the deadline and can't upload a fixed version now, because we used the limited gamemaker 2 version. And Yeah, we tend to make pretty difficult games at LD, not even really on purpose, it just happen :D

Super Slime Slasher Ultra by sebastianscaini 2018-05-15T15:17:49Z

Very fun game and i really liked the voiceover. The graphics are also really nice, especially the tutorial lady and the people in the stadium. For now I could only play the web version with keyboard and mouse, when I'm at home I will also try it with gamepad and the windows build

Universe Godot Control by Klaus Dellano 2018-05-10T12:37:47Z

Unbenannt6.PNG It was fun to play around with the mechanics. I tried to build a bridge out of shields and discovered thes get stuck that way without destroying the shields. So.. have I won now? :D Nice little game considering your limited time
