I liked the variety of cards. I think it would have been harder and more interesting if I could not see my opponent's hand or if he played his cards randomly. Also, some sound effects would have made this, so much better.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD44 → They ran out of mana

Sounds would have made this a much better experience and would have helped with the mood. I liked the idea behind the game and with a little more tweaking the AI could be made more challenging that it is right now. The art is really well done and the cards have some very unique abilities that I've not seen before in a card game. I hope you plan on continuing this after the jam as I believe you have something really special here. Some more characters possibly with there own distinct style of play, add in some funny sounds when playing a card and some wacky monster music and I could see this on steam early access  Anyways, congrats on completing the Jam!
I really enjoyed that game!. There is a nice balance of the cards and with more effects (there is already planty) this could be a really cool concept. Destroying the principle of mana and only having 1 single currency for a card game is a really nice turn of concept! I would have liked few sound effects and maybe more visual feedbacks but the gameplay loop is here and it is fun! Congrats and good job!
Wow that's a nice concept. I would love to play it with other people. (with card revealed, but chosen one is not). It could be really fun COngrats
This was really fun, I enjoyed it! For my taste it could have been a little bit harder!
Added 8 snot elementals (cost 5 deals 2 dmg) to enemy deck, rise card costs, added 10 golem cards (protect 10) to my deck, watch my opponent play lots of snot card into 70+ armour and die!
Maybe add some mechanic so you can play more cards per turn, ex multiply or add to it's cost for each extra card played, and then have the enemy play more cards in later turns without having to pay a extra cost?
I like it overall, also the moving character portrait adds a lot. If there was some kind of bigger game loop and difficulty escalation I could see myself play this “just another round” :)
Cool game! I like the concept a lot and it makes you think about all of your choices. Would have been cool if I did not know what the opponent was going to play next :)
Simple and fun mechanics. Nice job.
This is a great interpretation of the theme, really enjoyed it. Shame you didn't have time to get any audio in there.
Hello ! I really enjoyed the core mechanic, it could become a wonderful vs cardgame I think. As a sound designer I missed some audio atmosphere but the game is still great. Good Job !
Great game! You made a lot of different cards but it feels balanced. I think you could make a bigger game with this idea 👏
Very cool concept and very cool game. Once you get the hang of it it gets quite easy to win :)
Nice game ! I think you could make a post-jam version with more ennemies that increase in difficulty, and why not a deck builder; I think the game as potential, it is already fun in this version ;)
@dk5000p Thanks for your feedback. Yup! sound was a miss! About the randomness is something we experimented with. At the end we decided to go to fully deterministic. But there is a lot to experiment in that regard.
@kunonooni Thanks for your motivational post. We put a lot of thought into the card interactions. Different AI's with different card pools would be cool. Right now the AI is inexistent it just throws cards at random. Early access is something I'd love but I don't know if I will be able to update it frequently enough.
@jin47 ^_^ I'm so happy form the wining game of the jam. If it wasn't for the life is currency thing, this game wouldn't be half as interesting. Thank you!
@kpedatte Thanks! Multiplayer would be cool. Implementing multiplayer is way too scary right now xD
@copito Thank you very much. Yes, you can win the game 50% of the times just playing randomly (because is what the AI does). Anyway, as an excuse for that, it is fine that people can beat the game with 1 or 2 tries. It heps testing the game.
@ristoretto Love to see people post their crazy combos! This game could perfectly be a roguelike with deckbuilding. Thinking of it.
@cheebz I'm glad you enjoyed making choices in our tinny card puzzle. Having always interesting options was our intention.
Very very fun cardgame with well though actions! It fitts the theme very well. Some music and sound effects, and you have a winner :-)
This was a lot of fun! Played many rounds and still wanted more :) The graphics were a mixed bag: I really liked those cartoony sprites but the graphic design work on both the fonts as well as the kind of ugly gradients could be better in my opinion. That didn't really matter though as I cared more about the fun game loop. Choosing which cards to play in which order was really fun and made all the difference. I lost some fights but generally it was a pretty easy game to win against the "AI". The fact that you made the AI so predictable was actually kind of cool though as it turned it into more of a puzzle game. It'd be super interesting to play this game against a real human being. I'd love to have a local multiplayer mode. Anyway, great submission! I enjoyed it a lot :)
Really cool game, Graphics need improvement in my opinion (Basically, I don't like it), but the mechanics of the game are really dope. Good job man!
Cool idea!
Unlike other comments, I personally thought being able to see your opponent's cards was a great touch, it adds some depth to the decision making process about what card to play next (although if the results are deterministic vs having a certain degree of randomness it misses some tension).
Pity you couldn't add sound, but 72 hours is a really short timeframe.
Well done!!
@craftlord Thank you for your kind words. It is cool to see people enjoying the experience. Sounds should be the first update.
@yaen Wow! Such an extensive feedback. Thank you. The art part that you liked was done by my friend Pau. I did the one that you didn't like xD. It is very generous to call what we have AI hehe. But I'm pleased that you enjoyed the puzzle side of the game, I enjoyed designing the game that way.
@borys Thanks for playing and writing, and welcome to the guild of card game makers, hehe. We will have an artist for the next jam.
@ithildin Thanks for playing and being on the side of the puzzle/deterministic game lovers. I know Ana told you about this game. Saludos! ;)
Very interesting mechanics. Happened that I made all the effects 0 on both my cards and enemy cards. I am missing some progression, more enemies or some story. Good job!
Really nice game, I usually like card games and this one has some interesting choices to be made. As the other comments, it would be nice if u didn't know what cards the opponent would throw. But overrall a really coold game. Nice work, thx for sharing.
Really fun concept! I also liked being able to see the opponent's cards. Added a bit more to the strategy and made blocking life stealing card that much more satisfying.
Cool idea. Very well balanced and fun to play. Great job!
I like cardgame. You did good job :)
I like card's names and hilarious description.
Well designed cards - really studied mechanics, it's a simple, yet catching gameplay. I imagine there could be more necromancers with unique skills or decks. :D But generally - it is, even now, a really great game!
Nice game, I had a very similar approach and haven't seen a lot of games with this a approach so far :) Nicely designed cards, there are some nice synergies. If you want to try a different card game without mana, here is my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/mana-loss I also got here, because someone told me in my comments, this is quite similar to my game :D
Very fun, really cool ideas and effects, fun but rather easy to play around the opponent's next move!
I like this game. :) Very "Slay the Spire"-esque.
I will say though, especially on first playthrough, it's a little difficult to form a strategy. "Add 1 Teeth Golems to your deck." New players (myself included) think "what does that mean? Is that GOOD?" It's difficult to make value decisions when your deck contains so much variety and you only see a small amount of it.
That being said, I love how much the cards interact with each other. Changing values by adding 2 or multiplying by 0 really have some chain-reaction effects that are fun to discover. I think you guys hit a great sweet spot with synergy here. :) Awesome job!
@banzi Thank you. Progression will be the first step should we decide to keep working on the game.
@hildebrandt Thank you for playing. Making the enemy next move public is part of the vision, but we would like to work on some AI that makes more interesting choices.
@mooseandloon Great that you enjoyed. We didn't get the right shield vs steal life mechanic working until the last day. I'm glad it works.
@thiefviolinist You are the first one to notice our amazing card names. Thank you :D
@pablotitan More necromancers! Steal their shit. Megaman style. That's for sure our next step.
@tempii It's cool that people comment and suggest LD games between us. Thanks to that, and seeing your comment I discovered yours. What can be cooler than card games about necromancers?
@rmleverton That's right, the game is too easy. But for now, it is cool for a jam entry so people can play, win and enjoy it. Thanks for playing.
@coleslaughter Yup! Big fan of Slay the Spire and Into the Breach here. The summoning cards are tricky to explain given that we wanted short card descriptions. Maybe it makes you want to play for a second time once you know? We will have to thing about it. Hehehe, playing around with card values and costs is our secret sauce.
Awesome entry with amazing graphics!
Cool card game! I like the aspect of predicting their turns and countering them a lot. Perhaps a bit too easy now - they might need some advantage in card power level. :) Flavour and mood is great!
Would have been awesome to have some music / soundfx as well, that would have really rounded out the experience.
Nicely done!
That was awesome! Really enjoyed the card game, however it was a little easy and a short due to there being only one enemy - it still was quite re-playable though. Overall, a real solid game but could've done with some audio! Graphics were also incredibly cute :grinning:
I've never really played card games before but the concept has started to interest me a lot more lately. Since I haven't played many (read any) similar games, I'm not sure how to feedback on it but what I did like was the variety of cards and the fact that you had card animations instead of them, for example, just disappearing as you played them. Well done!
