LD22 — Alone

Arzea by arkeus 2011-12-21T02:43:00

Awesome! Well done as usual Arkeus :)

A.L.O.N.E. by KunoNoOni 2011-12-18T05:02:00

TO win you need to collect 250 Aloneium. There is a counter in the bottom left of the screen. You'll know when you get it as the screen with flash.

I do apologize about it being so tall and about not telling anyone what the controls were.

Arrows to move, space to jump and z to fire.

A.L.O.N.E. by KunoNoOni 2011-12-18T14:07:00

the game is 800x800. if your having trouble viewing the bottom of it, try pressing F11 to put your browser in fullscreen mode. Thank you for the feedback. I'm taking notes :)

A.L.O.N.E. by KunoNoOni 2011-12-21T01:11:00

I appreciate all the feedback :) I'm not sure why the jump is the way it is... I was so worried about finishing the game I completely forgot to revisit jumping to see if I could make it better.

@texel really? I'll need to look into that then. it worked for me when I play tested it.

So did anyone find the easter egg? If not I'll give you some hints.

1. there is a clue on the title page
2. there is a clue on the log entry page

Again, I really appreciate the feedback and look forward to entering LD23! :)

-KunoNoOni

A.L.O.N.E. by KunoNoOni 2011-12-21T01:41:00

Went back and checked the code, saw the error and fixed it. The game would only enter if you collect EXACTLY 250 Aloneium. I changed it from an == check to a >= check. now you can see the ending! :)

-KunoNoOni

A.L.O.N.E. by KunoNoOni 2011-12-21T15:38:00

@Pythong Mental note: Tell users what the controls are next time. Thank you for the info about the bug fix.

-KunoNoOni

A.L.O.N.E. by KunoNoOni 2011-12-21T15:52:00

I've fix the issue. Play the WEB version to play the version with the game ending only if you get exactly 250 aloneium. Play the WEB(Bugfix) version to play the version with the game ending if you collect 250 or more Aloneium.

On a sidenote, I'm happy that I'm making all these mistakes now. That way when LD23 comes around it should go more smoothly for me. Again thank you all for your feedback!

Squares by KunoNoOni 2013-04-30T23:45:00

Appreciate all the feedback :) I'm really glad you all like the titlescreen. I think I put more time into it than the game.

@Lucas Tiridath: After you die, if you play again your last time is shown under 'Session'.

@VictorGrunn: When the theme was announced, I kept reading the wikipedia article on Minimalism and staring at that Piet Mondrian picture. That's were the idea for the game game from. The painting only uses the colors black, white, red, blue and yellow. So since I was basing my game on the painting I wanted to stay true to it. So this is why there are no squares from the bottom. :)

Squares by KunoNoOni 2013-05-03T22:48:00

KunoNoOni's Magical Star Saga by KunoNoOni 2013-08-27T01:35:00

Appreciate the feedback. As ix says, the secret to making the jumps is to run off the platform AND THEN jump. Not every jump needs this technique though but a majority of them do.

KunoNoOni's Magical Star Saga by KunoNoOni 2013-08-27T21:50:00

Again I appreciate all the feedback.

@Laelien yeah this is because the hitbox for the player is half his height. In hind site I should have increased the hitbox of the stars :)

@Jason nope you didn't miss it. There is no mention in the game. I did however mention it in the tips above...
"You can jump if you're on a platform or if your falling. But you can only jump once. There is no double jump. This is very important to remember. All the jumps in this game can be made."

@funkbob yeah the 4th level gave me problems too :) I actually had to update the 5th level as it able to be completed without losing any health!

KunoNoOni's Magical Star Saga by KunoNoOni 2013-08-29T00:02:00

I'm glad you all like it! Yes it is hard. Very hard. Just like those platformers on various the systems. Those platformers where you scream at the TV and want to throw your controller at. Where you swear once you beat it you'll never play it again! But its one of those games that once you do beat it you feel good about yourself for do it. That is the game I made.

As for the music I did warn you all, I am no musician. LOL. You can hit M on the titlescreen to turn off the music.

After reading the other comments I too wondered where the theme was, then I though about it and found it hidden all over the place! 1 of each seed, 1 weapon, 1 shield, 1 armour, 1 ring (to rule them all ;)), one potion and one adventurer. Oh also 1 dungeon...with multiple levels :)

Here are some things I noticed while playing.

1. Once you max out your equipment or grow pod at certain times it still goes blue allowing you to click on it. Of course it does nothing. But I would think if I maxed out thing out it would stay black.

2. The adventurer scales faster than the monsters in the dungeon. The bosses are a different story. Some of those seem fine. I would say if you wanted to continue work on this game I'd try to tweak the over all balance of adventurer upgrades and monster stats.

3. This is just a minor nitpick, but after I had maxed out all my equipment and grow pods I was still able to find upgrades. You may want to add a check to make sure those don't come up if everything is already at max level.

I would really like to see you expand on this game and make a post compo version of it. You're really onto something here and I feel if you expanded and polished it some more you could put it up on one of the web portals and perhaps get some money for all your hard work! But for what you have done in 48 hours is quite amazing. Good Job!

Wow! That was one slick game! Good Job. Won on my second try.

Very cool game. Made it to level 10. really liked the music.

Earth Prime by Satyre 2013-12-20T00:24:00

What a really cool idea! Simple yet effective. My first game I was trying to understand what to do... didn't read the help. was successful in 164s. I read the help, played again and won in 60s.

El Presidente by AlexVsCoding 2013-12-19T03:00:00

Overall I liked it. Sound Effects would have enhanced the mood and drawn you more in. I do hope you continue to work on this post compo as you really have something cool here. I'd also add the ability to play it solo.

Unibrow by ViliX64 2013-12-17T00:16:00

Really liked the perspective mechanic. The piano in the background was a nice touch.

Wall of Fingers by LTPATS 2013-12-21T05:40:00

That was the creepiest game I've ever played. That said, I really liked it. The audio was very befitting, and the transition when you died was great. I also really liked the art.

The One Ring by Mocuto 2013-12-17T03:28:00

I like the music. I would suggest using a better font next time. I too thought I had to kill 188 orcs. All in all a descent game.

Really enjoyed it. I laughed a few times at the commentary. Nice concept and execution.

TITAN SOULS by Claw 2013-12-19T02:43:00

So I guess I should have started with the south boss :). I never did beat it, but that is ok. This game is AMAZING! If you added 12 more bosses you could market it as a pixel rogue-like version of Shadow of the Colossus :)

The art is very detailed, the music really sets the mood and its just so damn fun and addictive! BRAVO!

Fountain by Terry 2013-12-19T02:29:00

I can only echo what others have said. It was an awesome idea which had great audio, great visuals and a very cool take on the theme. BUT... sadly I didn't find it fun. I really wanted too, but I felt like I was being punished for exploring. If I went too far I wouldn't be able to make it back to the fountain in time and I would die... yet if I stayed near the fountain there really wasn't much to do. Definitely makes you think. But like they say, you can't have your cake and eat it too ;)

Princess Kingdom by ncannasse 2013-12-20T00:38:00

Can't say enough about the visuals. good gameplay too!

Mine Story by donan 2014-05-01T23:49:00

Really nice game. Awesome job on it! The only really problem I found with it was the bounding box of the player needs to be shrunk a couple of pixels. This would alleviate the issue with having to be exactly in the right spot to move the player between 2 rocks. Shrinking it 1 to 2 pixels on all sides should do the trick. Other than that it was an awesome game!

Beam Islands by mjau 2014-04-29T23:33:00

Landmine Wars by BruceDoh 2014-04-29T23:47:00

Really cool strategy game. Needs a little more feedback to the play and a way to distinguish the units other than there size and speed. I guess what I'm trying to say is a HUD is missing. Great job though for a 48 hour game!

Appreciate the feedback. Yeah Gameplay is lacking some challenge, looks like this time I'm at the other end of the spectrum usually I'm told me games are too hard. I will admit the tile are a little busy, will work on that in the coming months as I get ready for LD30! Thanks again for the feedback.

Girl, Alien and Robots by Glint Games 2014-08-27T00:36:00

I will echo the sentiments of the other reviewers, The graphics were great, the game is fun but the jumping is erratic and there does need to be a 1-2 second pause after dying but all in all you have one nice platformer here. Good Job!

Ethernet Quest by MentaL13 2014-08-27T00:44:00

of Light and Dark by MaddeMichael 2014-08-28T03:24:00

Really liked the mechanic and the way the piano set the mood.

I did find a but though. On the level in your main screenshot above, I was on the symbol and pressed the space bar. Used the dark guy to flip the switch and the white guy was stuck running in place to the left. I restarted the game and was brought back to this level, ran onto the symbol and used the dark guy to flip the switch again this time the white guy wasn't stuck running in place. so I ran towards the left edge and sure enough I got stuck again.

Not a bad little game. I read the instructions twice just to make sure I understood what I needed to do. You say you have 4 sonar ships but I only saw 3 when fully zommed out. Could be my old eyes :). The carrier goes off the left side of the screen and becomes unclickable, which means I can't send my choppers to drop mine. All in all though I though this was a really good game. I was develop it further post compo.

RailGunner by KunoNoOni 2014-12-09T04:44:00

Thank you all for your kind words. It is suppose to be a little bullet hellish, so that explains the difficulty. I did add the ability to destroy the enemy bullets and you do get 50 points for doing it. So if nothing else you can stay alive by taking them out.

I did have music, but nothing I tried seems to fit and it made the game feel to noisy. So I cut the music.

@ramonparaiba & @rmc: Thank you both. Its not everyday you get compared to such a great console. I am in very good company. :)

@jocamar each wave after the first wave the game gets a little harder, but it caps out at wave 5.

@digibody Spaceships are suppose to have wings :), though I will admit I should have made the bounding box on the player a little smaller. Honestly I never thought about it. I was too worried about finishing the game before the deadline.

Snowman's Land: SNOVERCHILL by RHY3756547 2014-12-10T22:28:00

This game is awesome! There is a small learning curve because the action is so fast paced, but it is an amazing experience. The graphics are great, the music was fun to listen to and it was well polished! It reminded me of mini ssx. Job well done.

V for Vectory: Maximum Overquill Edition by quill18 2014-12-09T00:49:00

You created a very fun and addictive game. I love the music its not obtrusive and it blends very will with the game play. I can agree the difficulty is a little high, but once you know what your options are it is manageable. Speaking of options, I have to say you do give the player many of them and this is a good thing. Rather than setting the player down a predetermined path you let the player craft his/her own experience. All in all it was a fun and pleasurable experience.

Awesome old school style game is a slightly 3D look. Loved it!

Solid game play with an addictive element hidden within it. I'd die and instantly restart to try and beat my last score.

I can't say I missed not having music, sure it may have added to the experience but the game is good enough to stand on its own without it.

All in all its a good entry. Well done George!

Shield Maiden by bitslap 2015-04-22T22:03:00

Excellent game! I really thought I was playing a NES game :)

Ice Story ( koori monogatari 氷物語 ) by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2015-04-23T22:55:00

Your an amazing Pixel Artist and it shows in all of your games. I do agree that you need to work on this Post-LD and put it up on Steam or GOG.com. This game is took me back to the heyday of arcade game :) Thanks for the game and the memories!

Hugline Miami by Figglewatts 2015-04-25T02:01:00

I really enjoyed the music and the graphics. I too made a game where the player shoots hearts :)

Banana Nana by miau 2015-05-03T17:05:00

Add sound and music and make a cart from this and I'll gladly add this to my NES collection! I'm pretty much is awe that you actually made a NES Game. Way to go!

Badass Inc by deepnight 2015-04-22T01:07:00

That was visually breathtaking! Loved the music too :)

Limb by Limb by AdamW 2015-04-23T22:22:00

Liked the mechanic and the music. Level design was cool too. Sound effects would have enhanced the experience.

Dungeon Balls by Teesquared 2015-05-03T16:22:00

Very interesting puzzle game. I agree with the other feedback about the difficulty. You should mention the timer in the instructions as I didn't even know there was one until I got Game Over and I was still planning the path of the balls. Overall it was a decent game with some rough edges.

Slam Jam Bakery by DragonXVI 2015-05-03T16:44:00

What can I say that hasn't already been said. This game is F-U-N! Oh yes, I really enjoyed the music. Definitely fits the game.

The War Dog by Xinelu 2015-04-25T01:55:00

The music totally made this game. glad there wasn't any sound effects as they would have distracted for the overall experience.

Flail Rider by jushii 2015-04-23T23:06:00

That was just good all around fun! Nice simple gfx, good controls and sweet music!

SoulWeapon by dieblume86 2015-04-23T22:42:00

Really enjoyed playing this game! Loved the music :)

Deadly rain by Sublustris 2015-05-03T16:58:00

Really great game. Found the fire rain a little too random at times. Made it hard to continue. Other than that. I really enjoyed playing this game.

Pocket Squad by Donpastor 2015-04-23T22:00:00

Not a bad game. The squad keeps a lot of odd things in there pockets :)

The Power Of Love by KunoNoOni 2015-04-20T21:52:00

First off, thank you all for playing/rating my entry! Now to your concerns.

1. As I explained in the Notes and Tips above, I have no idea why the player doesn't collide with the wall yet can collide with the zombies.

2. I blame my inexperience with Unity as to my the controls are so clunky. I guess I just got used to them while I was testing. I was trying to go for a third person view but it looks like I failed. I will do better next time I promise! :)

3. @Jon Reid, sorry to hear the web version did that to your computer. Did you try the OS/X x86 version I have linked? I don't have a Mac so I couldn't test them myself.

The Power Of Love by KunoNoOni 2015-04-21T12:18:00

@NIGIC Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate taking the time to look at my code :).

The Power Of Love by KunoNoOni 2015-04-22T12:12:00

@McFunkypants @GeorgeBroussard Thank you for the kind words and the feedback. I will look into implementing an options screen where you can adjust the mouse sensitivity in future 3D games.

ink by quill18 2015-04-22T01:23:00

Well done Quill. You did a top notch job on this one. When you pick up the letters the sound is a little too loud.

Quiet Riot by GeorgeBroussard 2015-04-22T00:47:00

Absolutely brilliant! Great visuals, the old monitor effect makes the game feel more retro. I really wanted to break out my old Atari joystick and use it to control my player. I really enjoyed playing the game and look forward to learning from your source code.

Primary objective by Aurel Bílý 2015-08-25T23:06:00

That was an amazing little game. Love the point and click style, reminds me of my DOS days. Only gripe would be the text being a little hard to read.

Power Corrupts by mortus 2015-08-25T22:04:00

Very enjoyable game. As stated the controls do need to be a bit more stickier but all in all its a great game. Music, Art and execution are awesome!

Monster Factory by tMalicet 2015-08-25T23:25:00

Like the idea of the game. You should work in it post compo.

Lair of the Scare by RockhopperGames 2015-08-25T23:30:00

That was a great use of theme. The bar for your roar was a nice touch, from the wimpy "boo" to the "RAWR!" lol

Lovers on a Park Bench by peterthehe 2015-08-24T23:25:00

Very original take on the theme. Music was too loud, about the only change I would make. Good Job :)

Village Terrorizer by Flygamer101 2015-08-25T01:10:00

I love that there are many different ways to play this. Nice take on the theme.

Save The Chest by kgabis 2015-08-26T21:52:00

Loved it! Simple yet fun :)

Tales of the Memory Dragon by raducumiczzz 2015-08-25T22:29:00

Totally dig the Asian theme for the game. Graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is simple.

Dragon's Horde by KunoNoOni 2015-08-25T01:14:00

Thanks for the feedback! The difficulty in the game comes from the age of your dragon. An ancient dragon will have a much bigger horde than a young dragon.

Hell Wars XVIII: Soul Harvest by quill18 2015-08-25T02:30:00

Watched you make this off and on throughout the 48 hours. Lots of fun. I stored 782 souls and lasted 35 waves.

Chompy by GeorgeBroussard 2015-08-24T22:50:00

This is why you make games for a living and I don't :). Feels really polished and well thought out. I really liked the level design and the retro graphics. I can't really think of anything I would change, which the exception of maybe more levels. I'd like to see you work on this one post-compo. I think you have a winner here!

The Cauldron of Humanity by Lashiz121 2015-08-24T23:16:00

You got something good here, a diamond in the rough so to speak. Needs a little more polish and I would also add a tutorial or at least a how to play screen, some music and some balance in the levels and how many points you get. All in all this is a solid entry and I was mighty proud to have played it :) Do work on this one Post-Compo.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

YOU NEED TO WORK ON THIS POST JAM! No really I mean it! Quit drawing and finish this game and put it on stream so you can take my money! :D

I do have one request. I know its the jam but i'd really love to look at the code and see how you did certain things.

99 Steps by George 2015-12-17T03:43:00

Nice use of Graphics and Sound. Will add this to the "play after rating is over" list.

Unknown by Eshford 2015-12-17T01:45:00

There are so many LD games I'll be playing again after the voting is up and yours will totally be one of them! This is a well polished visually stimulating game. Well Done!

Ludum Party! by FuzzyWuzzie 2015-12-17T03:29:00

what a cool wario-ware clone! The bottle rocket blast was my favorite followed by Space Cops :)

Give and Take by Move127 2015-12-17T01:01:00

That was a cool game. I plan on revisiting this one later. really liked how this incorporated both themes.

AirC.A.T by TsFreddie 2015-12-17T03:39:00

I love the music and the pixel art. really solid game and its about cats! :D

Ep by Blagino 2015-12-17T02:58:00

For 48 hours this is a well done game. Things to improve would be death sounds when the ghosts died. A sound when a block disappeared. maybe some visual cue if a block has the potential to be destroyed. I hope you work on this post compo its a great little game.

World Grower - Growth of the civilization by rhebsgaard 2015-12-16T22:52:00

I echo the sentiments of the others, its really a cool game and I hope you work on it more after the compo. I also agree with @amras0000 comments. I felt the cost of upgrading and of the buildings themselves grew too big too quickly. While I really enjoyed the game, waiting for enough money to do something and then only being able to do one thing before needing to wait some more got old quickly.

Garden Grow by justinooncx 2015-12-17T02:43:00

The music is awesome! Love the pixel graphics and really simple gameplay. 202 was my highest :)

The Super Bros (that are not Brothers!) by Xinelu 2015-12-17T03:02:00

simple to play yet difficult to master :)

Need For Seed: Undergrowth by RhythmLynx 2015-12-17T03:35:00

The graphics for this game took me back to an earlier time when games were about gameplay and not flashy graphics. This is a beautiful game full of simple yet engaging gameplay. Well done!

Space Elf by Farfin 2015-12-17T03:04:00

Art is top notch! sounds are a little loud. Overall its a really neat game :)

Lifenodes. by Remicy 2015-12-17T00:43:00

This is what the Ludum Dare is all about! Taking a theme and creating something very unique and original. I applaud you on creating a wonderful and thought provoking experience. I was able to get all the endings, and yeah #15 was my favorite too.

Mr. Dungeon Aase by Jordan 2015-12-17T03:12:00

Well done for a 48 hour game!

Hero Feed Co. by SkullPixel 2015-12-18T02:02:00

Loved the Graphics and Sound. The level is a little tight in places but over all the game was well designed.

1 Button Wizard X2 by BoxedMeatRevolution 2015-12-18T02:39:00

That was a really cool game. I love fighting games and this one even had a cool mechanic too boot! Well Done.

From the Deep by scorched 2015-12-16T03:50:00

Really nice use of both themes. Good graphics and very well laid out map design.

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-15T04:23:00

Got one piece of the puzzle, will definitely go back to get the rest! Very interesting game, very moody and audio is top notch! I really enjoyed it but I can understand why some people might find it boring. While there is interaction its more of an experience than a game, which is not a bad thing. Its a very cool experience and I look forward to delving further into it! :)

Yggshroom by Ghen 2015-12-17T01:34:00

2m 21s. That was pretty awesome. Well done utilizing both themes :)

The Village by adaFish 2015-12-18T02:31:00

I filled my village with people!:D I don't know what to tell you that @Tuism didn't already say. Well I guess I could say that a game like this needs more of an ending than just going back to the main menu. Even if its just something simple like a screen that says "You have filled your village with people and they lived happily ever after". The way it ends now is a little abrupt. Other than that I really did enjoy playing and beating the game.

Elenesski's Two Bar by Elenesski 2015-12-16T23:09:00

That was a very cool game! felt very complete and the audio was superb. I liked how in later levels some of the colors were fake. Really made you relay on your ears and not your eyes.

Hello Darkness by jcmonkey 2015-12-16T03:24:00

As a first games this was a really well put together game.

I wanted to comment on the summed up feed back.

1) Music was horrible to most, it was too short, and didnt really fit the theme
I do agree that it didn't fit the theme of the dungeon crawl but it wasn't horrible

2) Some didnt like the mines mechanic, in a new release i will change that
I thought the mine mechanic was really original. I also liked the fact that you only has a limited number of them.

3) Some didnt like the loud sound effects. ill make them better, and quieter
The sound effects were a little loud but they really fit the thing making the sound.

4) Some didnt like the long levels. yeah i can make the long ones shorter
There was really only one long level (level 8) in the game and it wasn't that bad. Then again I'm old school and used to mapping out a level ;)

5) Some wanted notifications when spikes went up. yeah i can do that.
I really don't get this one. there was a sound when they came up.

6) Some wanted more to the game. yeah i will add more stuff to do
For what it was it wasn't bad. Yeah perhaps some different types of traps and different types of monsters would have spiced it up a bit. But you can always do that for Hello Darkness 2 :D

7) Most mobs can be avoided. yes this was an oversight, will be changed.
I noticed I was able to avoid some of the monsters, but there are never more monsters than mines so I just killed them. besides this isn't a bug its a feature!

8) Some wanted the walk to move to be at the feet. yes i agree, it will be changed.
I have no comment on this. I didn't really notice.

9) Most wanted more mobs in the game. yeah i agree, i will put more.
see #6

10) Most wanted the mobs to do more. yes i agree, i will make this happen.
see #6

The best thing I liked about the game was the torch glow and the limited vision. These really added to the game.

Are you grown? by Rfdshir 2015-12-15T04:44:00

So my first play through I got to age 71 then died of old age alone, never drank, smoked, kissed, had sex or got married nor did I have a job.

My second playthrough I tried drugs, got married and died from cancer at age 35. WTF! LOL!

This is a very original game with a much deeper meaning. I don't know if you intended for that but I do applaud you for making it.

I can agree with some of the other feed back about the spelling also there is a question that says "Print Y or N". sorry I can't remember which question it was.

Greatest physics-based game that doesn't use real physics by KunoNoOni 2015-12-16T12:50:00

@ruthiepee Thank you for letting me know about the Mac Version. I'll see what I can do to get to working.

@pvwradtke Thank you for letting me know the Linux version does work.

Greatest physics-based game that doesn't use real physics by KunoNoOni 2015-12-17T03:49:00

@BoxedMeatRevolution Really?!? I never go past 12 myself. How did you do it?

As for the lack of gameplay, this game almost didn't exists. I have tried several times between friday and saturday to create something and had basically given up. Then I woke up on Sunday morning and had this idea. I worked on it all day minus 4 hours as I had something to take care of. So I only had about 8 hours to make it. Hmmm had I known it would be possible to get as far as you did I would have extended the play area.

Greatest physics-based game that doesn't use real physics by KunoNoOni 2015-12-18T01:51:00

@SkullPixel LOL! Yeah I never thought of that at all :) Thanks for letting me know.

Greatest physics-based game that doesn't use real physics by KunoNoOni 2015-12-18T21:05:00

@zenmumbler Really? I did not know that. Thank you I will update the Mac Build now.

Roll-Ball by mukult 2015-12-17T00:07:00

Very nice game. loved the particle effect when the blocks fell into place. Look forward to seeing a post compo version. I do agree that there should be a background instead of the blackness though. Well done regardless!

Growth Industries by quill18 2015-12-17T01:26:00

Another LD and another great game by you. I watched the stream from time to time to see how you were doing while I was working on my own game. You've created so many great games that you need to work on post compo and release on Steam or itch.io. You are a very talented programmer and game developer. I wish I was half as good as you are! Congrats on another well done LD.

The Dungeon Crawler by danblack 2015-12-19T02:29:00

This was a really cool version of snake. I too agree about the minimap and some sounds would have helped too. You may want to opt out of the sound category. I didn't mind the placeholder graphics.

Another Dragon by GeorgeBroussard 2015-12-17T04:16:00

I finished it and it was really good. I did like the homage to AW(OoTW), one of my favorite games from back in the day. You really should create an extended version of this game and put it on steam for a couple of bucks. I really think your LD games are getting better and better with each LD. :D

LD35 — Shapeshift

windowframe by managore 2016-04-19T01:03:00

Wow if this games doesn't end up in the top 10 then something is seriously flawed with the voting system!

This game was amazing! Most unique take on the theme I have seem. Absolutely amazing.

Squirm by zenmumbler 2016-04-21T02:27:00

very moody and atmospheric. was just waiting for something to jump out from around a corner. Liked the take on the theme. Well Done!

Beyond Human by Martin Enderleit 2016-04-21T23:44:00

Really nice platform game. Controls were a bit slippy but other wise it is a solid entry. Gratz on submitting your first game! Really love the pixel art and the music was pleasant to listen to.

Bortman by Rscar 2016-04-18T21:50:00

I see I'm not the only one who went with the transforming into a different animal route :) I really enjoyed playing this. very fun indeed.

Sub Dragon by deepnight 2016-04-20T04:01:00

Absolutely beautiful! I expected nothing less :) Always look forward to playing your games.

CubeShift by JangoBrick 2016-04-20T03:30:00

Loved the music and the eye pleasing graphics. Am elegant puzzle game. You should had more level after the compo. I could see this being a hit on mobile phones!

ShiftSword by SkullPixel 2016-04-23T19:49:00

Nice pixel art. Mostly used the bow and the columns need to be more noticeable then again it could just me my old tired eyes lol.

Theseus by TheMeorch 2016-04-21T03:38:00

Amazing! Very well done puzzle game. loved the piano in the background and the rain it really sold the mood.

Drift Shift by Bailman03 2016-04-18T21:59:00

Drifting was really cool. I liked the out of the box take on theme. Sounds would have made the mood of the game better. Add those and you got a winner!

L.I.G.H.T. by Flygamer101 2016-04-18T22:45:00

This was fun.*nods* I really liked the different things you could turn into. I did find it difficult to figure out what light I was suppose to get. Perhaps this is something you could put in the tutorial to show the player what he is actually looking for. Other than that I really enjoyed this game.

Dice Delve by lanestp 2016-04-24T05:51:00

What an interesting game with a cool mechanic. Music was awesome too!

Transmopig by CodeCast 2016-04-23T19:41:00

HAHA! I love being a pig :) Really cool game. You should expand on it more.

SH4PE by ragnarolis 2016-04-21T02:14:00

Simple is good. This would make a perfect phone app. I would add levels and have a total time to beat the level. add particle effects once a level is beaten. I would also add a how to play screen because I have to admit I was a bit confused when I first started it. You are really on to something here. Well Done!

A Slimy Fellow by Ourson 2016-04-23T18:45:00

This was by far one of the most fun games I have played so far. Graphics, mechanics, level layout all superb! Thank you for making this game!

A magical shapeshift by Berserker_Chris 2016-04-22T00:40:00

I liked the concept of the game. I did have trouble with shifting from the red block to the green block when the wall of death was chasing me. Other than that it was a cool game.

SHAPEshiftSHIFTshape by aberdeenphoenix 2016-04-21T01:53:00

Cool concept. Nice music and the controls felt good. Well Done!

RollingBall by ottohak 2016-04-23T20:09:00

First congrats on your first LD game.

The speed ramps up too quickly. You should start the player out slower gradually make it start moving faster.

There should be more feedback when the player dies. It seems like touching the edge of the ground kills you. If this is not the case then let the player fall of the edge for 2-3 seconds before respawning them.

Those are my 2 bits of advice for you. You have a nice game here. I hope to see you back next LD!

Blue Moon by Mark Smith 2016-04-19T00:39:00

What a wonderful little game. I really enjoyed not have to kill anything lol. Just need to run around and collect thinks. quite relaxing :)

SUPER DEEP GAME BRO by Membrane 2016-04-18T23:04:00

Very original!

PuzzleShift by KunoNoOni 2016-04-18T23:55:00

Thank you all for the feedback. Once all the voting is over I will look again at the player sticking to the purple blocks. the collision box is a box, I will try switching it to a circle and see if that fixes the issue. If not then it might be the object I'm using to check if the player is on the ground.

@JHemmings the waiting for the stamina bar to refill is to simulate the player resting. I can look into making the bar refill a little faster though.

PuzzleShift by KunoNoOni 2016-04-19T01:11:00

@LudumAnthony Thank you for the gifs. That is completely crazy. I never experienced those bugs when I was playtesting it. You cannot shapeshift until you get the 2 red potions. The first one lets you become a mouse and the second one lets you become a bat.

@ruchirbapat Yeah I'm not sure why there are collision issues. They do not happen all the time. so it really weird.

PuzzleShift by KunoNoOni 2016-04-19T01:16:00

@LudumAnthony I believe I know why you were able to climb the wall in the first gif. I'm not sure it would be considered a game breaking bug. So I don't think i'll be able to fix it for the compo.

PuzzleShift by KunoNoOni 2016-04-21T01:04:00

@zenmumbler Sorry the sounds were too loud, I had them at half volume.

PuzzleShift by KunoNoOni 2016-04-21T02:47:00

@Cosmologican Thank you for trying the Linux version.

The reason you fell through the floor was because of the way unity does there physic and collisions. You were moving at too high a speed for the collision to detect you.

Wait the first level with the arrows? Thank you for the feedback I will see if I can reproduce the issue and then see what I can do to fix it.

Claws shape by in3orn 2016-04-29T01:27:00

I really enjoy that. It was a fun and innovative game with a really cool concept. You did a really nice job with the art as well. I do hope you do work in this game after the compo.

Dr. Deckenstein: An Adventure in Severed Parts by quill18 2016-04-18T23:47:00

Caught some of the stream while coding my LD game. A well done game. Had to force myself to stop playing lol. this is the mark of a good game :) You are right though it is fun and I know that's what you care about. Sound would have made it a little better but for what it is its really good. Well done! Oh and I like the out of the box take on the theme.

Tetrik's Cube by Munchy2007 2016-04-21T01:34:00

I really enjoyed this. The music is so soothing and ambient. Well Done!

Shape it! by _beta 2016-04-22T00:26:00

For some reason I thought I had to hold the left or right mouse buttons and it was making the game very hard... once I learned I just needed to click the button the game got much easier! 540 was my score. Gratz on creating and submitting your first game!

Agent Shift by jollyserpent 2016-04-23T19:30:00

This was a very captivating game. I really enjoyed playing this. Is this really your first game? Then congrats on making a well done game you did a superb job!

Boolean Differences by ruchirbapat 2016-04-21T02:08:00

Rather than tell you what everyone else has already said over and over again.I will say that as a first game goes this is not a bad one. It has a simple concept and its well implemented. The music is really good and doesn't become annoying. I would continue to develop this game further once the voting has been completed.

Fixing Sparks by fairwolf games 2016-04-21T01:42:00

Not a bad little game. The pace at which you get the new body parts is good. Music would have been a nice addition but not having it doesn't hurt the game. Well Done!

The Shard Collector by LudumAnthony 2016-04-21T01:58:00

Gratz on your frist LD. The art is amazing. Really enjoyed the game.

ShipShifters! by gamesplusjames 2016-04-21T23:16:00

Very action-y. Reminded me of a old style NES game. Some minor things I noticed why playing. None of these affected your rating they are just feedback.

1. You can remove the .pdb files that are generated as they are just debug info and by removing them you will make the download smaller.

2. When the player respawns he is rotated a little.

3. When I was told to shift I would press shift but it took a few presses to get the game to respond.

4. The camera movements when moving left or right are really abrupt and made it hard to control the player. This didn't happen all the time just some of the time.

5. On the second time to get the saw blades I think some of the bottom ones are doubling up. I destroyed one and got the particle effect but the blade was still there.

Its a really nice game and I enjoyed playing it and watching you create it. I hope you can find time after the Jam to work on it and I hope you will participate in the next Ludum Dare!

Black Heart by luquio 2016-04-18T21:37:00

I really enjoy this game. The music was spot on and the game was fun. I do agree with the others about assigning the shapes to different key, making the black hearts stand out more and I will add one more thing, when the game is over you should display the results to the player so he/she knows what they got and what they need to beat the next time they play. All in all though this is a solid entry. Well done!

Binary Shift by JHemmings 2016-04-21T01:48:00

What a neat take on the theme. I agree with bazkur98, the sound invoked some Atari memories. This is never a bad thing :)

Shifter by jasonalighieri 2016-04-21T02:37:00

You need to work on this after the Jam! There is so much potential here. The sprite work is amazing and the controls felt really good. I would have loved to have peeked at the source code to see how you did the procedural level generation.

Reshapi by Myko 2016-04-23T19:57:00

This takes Reversi to a whole new level! Won the first game, lost the second one. Amazing!

LD37 — One room

BullyBully Classroom by My Sweet Whomp 2016-12-15T17:38:00

That was a really good game! I enjoy tactical rpgs so this was a real treat to play! The art was well done as were the animations. I did have to play it on Chrome instead of firefox as I never got the menu to do anything and I also noticed the enemies never hit back. Again this was a pleasure to play. Job well done!

#BUTERATOS by PolygonTeam 2016-12-15T16:18:00

Well what can I say that hasn't already be said before...

The art style is great as is the music, together they set the mood and the tone of the game. Great job with these! The comic book opening with voice overs was also a nice touch.

Gameplay, while good was lacking sound. Sound provides the player with feedback and also helps to immerse the player into the game. Since it was missing that connect wasn't there. To give you an example, when I had beaten the villain I was surprised when the scene switched because there was no cue that I had defeated him.

I do understand about having to cut things due to time constraints, I had to do the same myself in my game. So I didn't take points away for not have sound.

All in all it was a great game and has a lot of potential! Great Job to all involved!

The Visitors by Michalidis 2016-12-14T03:42:00

I spent half the night on this game! HAHA! It is so addictive and you did such a good job with it but alas I still only got the bad ending. I will definitely play this one again to get the good ending. Well Done!

One Room Puzzle by KobiHawk 2016-12-15T02:36:00

This was a really solid entry for your first Ludum Dare game! While it was a simple design the mechanics made it challenging and that in turn made it fun. Well Done!

Death Room - Terry D'Arcy by cr4zyt3rry 2016-12-15T01:51:00

That was a very interesting game. took me a few runs to realize the bullets were going where my mouse was pointing :) I loved the pixel art, sound and music set the tone and I really liked the health over the enemies. Well Done!

Looking For Heals by JayProg 2016-12-15T17:14:00

I've play several MMOs and I've never done any healing in them so I like how this gives you a taste of what its like!

Reading through some of the other comments I see that there is an indicator that lets you know which dwarf the boss is going to attack. I can say I never saw them myself, could be too small could be my old eyes HA!

This was a well put together game and I really enjoyed playing it!

ROOM by spacedoubt 2016-12-14T04:22:00

WOW! That was one trippy experience! I really like the perspective. Controls were very nice, the art was well done and the game play was engaging. I didn't find the poster though. Will have to come back to this to see if I can find it.

One Room for No One Anymore by pokepetter 2016-12-15T01:09:00

I see what you were going for here and you have a good base, but the story needs to be a little longer than it was. The art is absolutely gorgeous and the beeping of the machine really set the mood it also solidifies the theme as well. Over all you did a good job and even though the story was short it was enjoyable. Well Done!

4/4 Room by Remicy 2016-12-15T01:39:00

That was a pretty incredible game I just played! Got to level 5 and a score of 468. Gameplay was top notch, loved the card mechanic. The pixel art was really nice and the music was a pleasure to listen too. Well done!

Cozy Christmas Village by juxipolo 2016-12-16T02:13:00

This is simply THE best game of Ludum Dare 37! If it doesn't make top 10 of the top 100 list then something is serious wrong with the voting!

Now while it is an amazing game for 2 days it does have its faults and I do believe they have been said by others but it is possible some of them may have not.

1. Unable to delete an item once it is placed
2. Not able to continually place all objects like you can the sidewalks. IE trees, lamps, houses, etc
3. unable to lay sidewalk by clicking and dragging. (note: I'm totally fine with the way it is but I can see why some people would say that)
4. Not being able to rotate the buildings before placing them
5. Not able to discern a buildings front door before placing object.

That is all I can think of at the moment. Now I understand that you only had 48 hours, and I didn't rate your game and what it could have been I rated it on what you presented and you presented a lot! As I write this I still have the game running, and at the time of writing this I'm at $2450.45 and its still going up, Pop:28, Vistors: 124.

I sincerely hope you will work on this post compo and put it up on Steam. You could add the features I posted about and even expand upon them too. Not only do you have to have a xmas theme you could have a tropical beach theme. Not to mention you could expand the catalog to include other items. You could also include an option to expand the table to allow for a larger town!

Anyways, You did a great job and it was a real pleasure to play your game!

Porno Tales: part 1 (Warning: NSFW!!!) by Sublustris 2016-12-15T02:59:00

Wow, there is hard and then there is rage quitting keyboard breaking hard. This games leans towards the latter. This isn't necessarily as bad thing, some people enjoy games like this. Difficulty aside, the game was solid although it was odd and a little creepy watching spongebob bang the witch. LOL! The art was well done and the music just fit perfectly with the game play. At first I disliked the controls but after playing as long as I did I came to like them. Overall it was a well put together game, well done!

FIIL Mark 37 by martincohen 2016-12-15T02:10:00

First off I have to say I'm very impressed you created in this game in pure C. This was a fantastic game! I really enjoyed the strategy aspect of it. Everything was beautiful! Its all pretty amazing for only being made in 48 hours. Good Job!

Freedom by Cody Hansen 2016-12-14T04:17:00

I liked how the challenges ramp up each level. That final level was very interesting :). Its a good game! each level was well thought out and the game play was very engaging. The audio was very good too and really set the mood. Well Done!

Kitchen Defender Ants Attack! by KunoNoOni 2016-12-15T03:10:00

I appreciate all of feedback you have all given! I am no artist, as you can plainly see :) So I did the best I could with the drawing of the kitchen.

The kitchen is my actual kitchen in my home. On the left you have counter space, the sink and more counter space. On the right is the stove, counter space and the refrigerator. The Pantry you are protecting is behind you. I think if I'd have been able to have drawn the kitchen in a more 3D-ish view that would have stood out more.

For the ants I actually googled ant walk cycle and I was honestly surprised how many websites I found on this subject! HA!

So with the exception of the Kitchen graphics I'm pretty pleased with how the ants and the tank turned out.

Again thank you all for your feedback and thank you for playing my entry!

Ludum Dare: The Game by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2016-12-13T23:13:00

Only one word comes to mind while I was playing this game... AMAZING! The only addition I would have added would have been how long each of the events take. To be honest it's not something that is critical, and not having it doesn't take away from the game it would be just a "nice to have" feature. Really enjoyed the music and the art was really nice too. Great job!

BOSS ROOM by rogual 2016-12-14T03:54:00

It reminded me of platformers of old, this is a good thing. I like old stuff :) The Art and the Gameplay were top notch and I also really enjoyed the Audio, it really set the Mood. Great Job!

Kitchen Wizard Pinball by quill18 2016-12-13T03:57:00

Really enjoyed the game. I'm a fan of Pinball games and yours is very interesting. I did notice some wonky behaviors while playing but I have a feeling it has more to do with Unity than anything else. The assets are amazing looking and I really enjoyed the sounds! Popped into the stream ever so often to see how it was coming along while I was making my game. Good Job!

Tomb of the Glitch King by KappaIX 2016-12-14T04:32:00

That was an awesome game! I really enjoy puzzle games and this one was no exception! It was a blast to play and I really liked the glitch effect. The audio was a nice touch too. Good Job!

Poultry, Please by btwj_ 2016-12-15T02:19:00

This was a very humorous game :). I did find it a little confusing at times but with some trial and error I made it through. sound aside, what you have here is really well done. Good Job!

Living Room Choo Choo by spacewarp 2016-12-13T02:02:00

I really like this game! It's one that I could play for hours. The music is something I can get into and goes well with the game. I love the graphics and this game uses the theme in a good way. I really hope you work on this post compo as I think you have something very good here.

Some of the things that I found challenging:

1. There is no mention in the help how much the different items cost.

2. You don't start with enough money. After you get your first train up and running your at the mercy of the RNG.

I'm not sure if its a bug but buying a station cost nothing. was this intentional?

Great job, this game was a pleasure to play and I do hope you work on it more after the compo and expand on it there is great potential here!

LD38 — A Small World

The Mother of All Games by sorceress 2017-05-17T23:42:50Z

Those mini games were a blast. I love the polished look of everything and I too some notes so I'd remember to try and use them in my game next dare. Many of the other review you have already touched upon some of the issues so I won't repeat them here. I will say that I had fun playing your game and its something I could see myself play again well after the dare is over.

For The Love Of Money by KunoNoOni 2017-05-03T20:41:15Z

Thank you all for playing and rating my game!

I also want to thank you all for some great feedback! I will be taking notes for future LDs :)

I wanted to let you all know that this was a game that began as something completely different that failed. I agonized for hours trying to get it to work and in the end I could't so I made this instead. This is why the levels don't have much variety as I had about half the compo to finish. Also for the fact that I had to hand craft each level myself which took some time to do. I also ran into this stupid bug where running on several sprites would cause the play to just stick. my solution was to remove the box colliders for all but one sprite and then stretch that collider over all of the boxes. I had to do this on several levels. I did my best to polish the levels up. Oh one final note, I wanted moving spikes but sadly I wasn't able to code them in the time I had.

Again thank you all for playing and leaving feedback!

Now I'm going to address some of the questions that have been posed to me.

@numnumdude, @scriptorum The physics are working properly. The reason it looks like the player is clipping into the wall sprites is because I modified the hit box on the player to help with jumping. If I had not done this then there would have been a lot of rage quitting for not being able to make certain jumps. This is why it seems like the ceiling spikes don't work. Oh they do, but you have to really jump into them. think of it as them just grazing you but not causing enough damage to kill you. The game is hard enough without dying from badly laid out hit boxes :)

@samusoidal I'm not sure why the black lines exist between the blocks, it seems every time I do a platform game in Unity something odd happens.

@gimbalock You make a very good point. I should of had 2 platforms on level 3.

@tobico Sure I could have made the player a child of the platform so that they moved with it. But like I mentioned at the top, it was a design decision.

@mikel Yes level 3 is hard, but I can safely say level 5 is even harder than level 3. Play testing was a tad frustrating but in a good way. I really debated about making the game easier as I always get comments about how hard my games are. I'm not sure how you can feel satisfaction about beating a game where there is no challenge. Why play it in the first place?

For The Love Of Money by KunoNoOni 2017-05-04T21:47:37Z

I have to say that this is ** the best ** feedback I have ever gotten in a Ludum Dare!

Ok, yes the theme is a bit of a stretch but you are allowed to interpret it as you like and I honestly didn't want to make it super obvious, but I think I made it too subtle. Will try to work on this for next LD.

I've read a few times that my graphics are inconsistent. I'm honestly not sure what you mean by that. Are you talking about the trail on the fireballs? Because that is the only thing that is not pixel art. If someone could explain in more detail I'll see what I can do next time to make them more consistent.

Yes level 3 needs more platforms, in fact I should have put 4 platforms that go in a circle instead of just one.

I also feel I should have dressed up the platforms more. Oh and next time I will be sure to make the player ride along with the platform if I use them again.

Again thank you all for playing and for streaming my game! And most of all for leaving me feedback I can use to grow as a developer! :grinning:

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-16T03:41:21Z

Popped in from time to time to the livestream to see how you were doing. Another LD, another fun game :grinning:

Abaddon by Geckoo1337 2017-05-04T01:34:31Z

I'd never heard of devil daggers before and looked it up. Ok so I can see some similarity between your game and this devil daggers game but so what? I was very impressed by the game, I kept playing to get a better score. I made 21st, I'm happy with that. I assumed you used some shaders to make the dithering of the light? It looked awesome. The game is definitely hardcore, and I like that! Clone or not, this is by far one of the best Jam games I've played!

Global Disaster by Jamesy012 2017-05-02T22:54:45Z

I lasted 137s. Interesting game with a cool mechanic. Love that you can fling meteors into each other. Its a nice trick to take out two at once. The art and music are really well done But overall its a game that made me want to play it again! :)

Your Planet: Too Big by Scriptorum 2017-05-01T22:56:52Z

You've hit on something special with this one! I have to say it was quite fun, I found myself hitting quickly just to get back to trying to figure out the puzzle. Good Job!

A Small World Cup by rujo 2017-05-03T01:10:50Z

ROFL!! QWOP meets Soccer (Football to the rest of the world), I LOVE IT!

I am totally speechless, this game was amazingly fun to play! I wish there was audio and incidentally you might want to opt out of it so your not judged on it.

It took me a bit to get used to dragging as I'm using a mouse but once I did oh boy did I have fun and laugh myself silly! What an amazing game for 48 hours of work. Well done!

Planet Domination by Sir Magic 2017-05-03T21:00:48Z

I love the art style of this game! I liked the idea behind the game as it was simple. Try to collect more planets than your opponents. I like that there was an AI to play against. Something I've not really done in my games. I did find it a bit frustrating that I could really dodge enemy fire that well and that I didn't have that much health.

All in all it was a good solid game and was fun to play!

Step-Squish by NumNumDude 2017-05-01T23:31:50Z

Its a cute little game. It has a simple mechanic and it does it very well. This is exactly the sort of game you want to make in a game jam. Good Job!

Insect Attack by SimplePotential 2017-05-14T01:51:28Z

I've been there. Your original idea doesn't pan out so you scramble to make anything. For what it is, its good. Of course it can be improved. I didn't mind the sounds so much as them getting cut off. It seemed like the sound of the sprayer was cutting off the sound of the ants dying. This might be caused from only having one audio source in the scene.

The screen was kinda barren and with the ants just popping in it kinda ruined the immersion but that doesn't make it a bad game. The mechanics were solid and it had a goal and an ending with a saved high score no less. This was a good job for only 6 hours.

Your art is great and at first I didn't realize the ants didn't have a walking animation. It was only after a few playthroughs that I realized this. So it really didn't hurt the game in my opinion. Yeah I have to say I really liked the game. With some polish and balancing you'd have something really cool on your hands.

Until Tomorrow by MSiddeek 2017-05-02T23:19:43Z

Wow you really captured the 8Bit feel with this game! Really cool story, the atmosphere drew you in and it was very engaging. The sound was kinda low though, I don't use headphones. Other then that I really enjoyed playing this game to its conclusion. Well Done!

Small World Sim by pyokoanarogue 2017-05-03T22:32:12Z

This was a cool and relaxing game. I played the original version so I didn't have the instructions or anything else added to the post jam version. So I won't mention anything about that in my feed back.

You made a strategy game and I think that is awesome! I love strategy games. Plus it's also a simulation game, which is also awesome as I love those types of games too. The interface needs a little work. which honestly would be my biggest complaint. Its a little too big and clunky. I had typed out this huge long post about how you could have done the interface but decided it was too much and deleted it. Its just that I really like this game and I would like to see you improve it.

The only other issue is there is no sound for player feedback. Like a sound when you build something to let the player know something happened. There is a visual queue so this issue would be minor but it goes a long way to help with the immersion of the game.

If you would like to hear my thoughts on how you could have improved the interface just let me know and I'll be happy to tell you. Of course its just my opinion but like I said you have something special here and I wouldn't mind helping you improve it.

What Remains. by Fiote 2017-05-03T00:31:10Z

This is the type of game I would love to make! Well done! Very involved strategy management style game. Art was really good except one of the characters has his head on backwards, or are my eyes just not working right Ha Ha! Also I had an available oven yet that someone was cooking at and then she died, after that I couldn't get anyone to cook again. same goes for the water pump, I had to build a second one to get water. Might be possible that you forgot to release the job if it was assigned to someone and they died?

I too had to stop mid game to continue judging other games. This is one game I will definitely be revisiting after the judging! Good work all!

Frag Saga by guoboism 2017-05-04T02:01:40Z

I've not seen a game like this before. It was pretty amazing, with an original and cool mechanic. I read your regrets and was a little surprised. I honestly though it was a puzzle platform game. Perhaps it is and you just wanted to add more to it. I think you should continue to work on it, add what you forgot, polish it up and put it on steam!

Besides the puzzle mechanic being really cool I loved the idea of the music slowing down when you pressed tab. That was ingenious! The character animations were very good but it took me a few minutes to get used to him not turning around unless the mouse was pointing in that direction. Really the only bug I encountered was while I was on the map screen I hit escape and got a menu. realizing I pressed a wrong button I clicked resume and everytime my player jumped he immediately died, infact I could press jump over and over and he would die over and over and then the spawn would happen that many times.

Other then that, this is one well done game! Congrats on finishing and submitting a game!

Bloody Nano Wars by kalinka 2017-05-02T00:40:34Z

HA HA! 5 years ago I made a game for LD23 (Theme was Tiny World) called Tiny Defenders. It was a game about being injected into a human body and destroying a virus in different parts of the body. I love your take on that concept!

I clicked new game: nightmare at first and boy is that name appropriate! HA! I was bombarded with infected cells, so many I couldn't click fast enough. I did another game on easy and yeah that was more my speed :) The graphics are well done as is the music and they both work to make a very atmospheric game. Well done!

Troubles on Colony 39 by Stadoblech 2017-05-04T01:08:21Z

That was an interesting interactive story. the basic issues with the game have already been stated.

1. animations for the player 2. a button to skip through dialog 3. some type of ambient music track 4. walking footsteps

The story was quite funny and I did enjoy the experience. So yeah Good job and congrats on submitting a game for the Jam!

A Relatively Small World by Samusoidal 2017-05-01T23:48:26Z

I'm at a loss for words. The art and music made this game so enjoyable to play! I never solved the puzzle but it didn't matter it was such a joy to play! :) Well done!

Destruction Zone by Chronosv2 2017-05-01T23:18:35Z

Oh yeah some twin shooter action! I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Its fast-paced and energetic with mood moving music!

As for what you delivered for the compo I will say its nicely done and was very fun to play, but I do have agree that perhaps an extra enemy or two and a little more variety of player weapons would enhance the game.

All in all good job!

Rogue Basement by Steve Johnson 2017-05-16T03:28:19Z

I'm a sucker for rogue-likes and when I saw this one looked like net-hack I had to play it. It was really fun and the music was very atmospheric and really set the mood. I chuckled when I saw the readme.txt file. That gave it a good old back in the day vibe :grinning:

Fossil Blastr by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-05-04T23:40:42Z

This game has the potential to be awesome, too bad you ran of time. Your pixel art is always amazing and visually stunning that, even though the gameplay was lacking a bit it was just fun to run around and whack the dirt with my pick. :grinning:

I really hope you work on this after the competition as you really have something special here.

Monster Deck by kamikaziuk 2017-05-03T01:03:06Z

I love card games! I love the take on the theme too. The art for the cards is really cute and the sounds help with the immersion factor. The fight mechanics are original and interesting and the card animations were cute.

There was no button on the deck building part to remove a card once you selected it. Which was a little frustrating but other then that it was a cool game to play and rate! Good Job for 48 hours!

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-02T00:06:59Z

HA! what a simple yet engaging game. I got over 34k before I had to stop playing :) its so addicting!

A Small World by thomasgainant 2017-05-02T01:42:30Z

Pretty simple game. What you have presented is a neat little strategy game. Unfortunately there is no strategy needed. All of the AI players move towards the ocean so it takes no more than 5 clicks to win the game but like you said you were unfamiliar with the tools you used.

The good thing is you have a core mechanic that works. All you just need to do is polish up the other elements and add some sounds, possibly some music and perhaps more levels if you wanted to go the strategy puzzle route or even just some different world configurations to challenge the player.

I have to say I really like the idea, and it works well. I hope you work on it more after the compo and flesh out the bits that need some work and add the polish that is needed. I'd like to play it again once you've done that. You can even add a post compo version to the game page.

Oh, since you have no sounds you may want to opt out of being judged in that category.

AXL-5 by PUARSLIBURF 2017-05-03T00:48:40Z

You have an amazing proof of concept here. I think you should expand it and put it on steam! Yes its that good! Fix the issues that were mentioned and you have a winner here!

Amazing art and music. Controls were tight and very responsive and I loved the characters running animation. I also thought the 2 frame jumping animation was nice touch. Something I've been wanted to put in my games but some how seem to fail to do it correctly. I didn't make it to the last level as others have but I really enjoyed playing what I did. And yes the level design was top notch!

So much goodness packed in for a game made in 48 hours.

Naziverse by furazin 2017-05-02T23:34:08Z

I like that you made a side scroller and I love the bit about a small world that you can enter to save. You should expand the game and run with this. Like at the end of the small world levels there is a boss you need to beat to move one to the next one and once you've saved enough worlds you fight hitler himself!

Anyways I'm getting sidetracked. The graphics were well done as were the sounds. It did need a little more balance as the bullets and then the carrots? were really fast, although like most people pointed out crouching did help. I didn't have a problem with the controls or the speed of the jumping or crouching, my biggest complaint would have to be how short it is! Ha Ha! Great entry!

Galactic Girl and the Puzzle Planets by GerardB 2017-05-03T00:10:58Z

I really felt like I was playing a Gameboy game, it was such a nice touch! Yes a walking animation would have been nice but its such a minor things really. What does need attention is the move controls, they felt very loose, especially when jumping onto the platforms and then immediately sliding off. I noticed that the player doesn't ride along on the platform and that is fine. My game does the same things so no worries there. The music was pretty cool to. I also enjoyed the jumping from planet to planet, felt it was an interesting way to work through the map of puzzles.

I saw that you've uploaded a post jam version. I will check it out after the ratings are done.

Leafcutters by gimbalock 2017-05-02T00:25:56Z

For your first game its not that bad. Congrats on finishing it, I'm sure you learned a lot and your next LD game will even be better!

For what it is its good. There is some strategy needed in how you play to make sure you have the resources you need. The graphics are simple yet convey what the function of the space is. I think its awesome that you made the game in Delphi! Pascal was my goto language back in the day. :)

Lonely Planets by Death_Is_Cold 2017-05-18T21:59:23Z

The art was nice but I didn't understand what I was suppose to do. Just to confirm what everyone else is saying, yes the text is off center. Also since you have no Audio in the game you should really opt out of that category. I can understand about under estimating the challenge the Ludum Dare brings. It happens to alot of people, just take what you learned from this Dare is apply it to the next one! :grinning:

Space Raiders by Smeax 2017-05-02T23:52:58Z

I love the mechanic and the art. For me the character moves a little too fast, but that doesn't take away from the game. Is it possible to get out of the heart area if you fall down? I wasn't able to do it, again could just be me. Not sure I can say more that hasn't already been said. I could honestly just pause the game and stare at it because the art is just so beautiful!

Oh I played the original version of the game.

Den by La mecanique du plastique 2017-05-01T22:27:32Z

WOW! that was pretty sweet, really enjoyed the atmospheric music, the crazy looking creature and the interesting level design. I loved just moving the creature and making it scream! :)

I did get stuck in the first set of wind tunnels, right after you get to the second set of men. You can do down and then you get to a one way wind tunnel going to the west. I somehow got behind the wall and was not able to get out. Other then that it was a very enjoyable game!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-01T02:04:47Z

@cornelia-xaos OMG! I totally forgot to code for that condition... I wonder if its considered a game breaking bug and if so then I could fix it. I was so wrapped up with everything else I just honestly forgot. Yes that is exactly what I said "Rewinding Time".

@ianburnette Thats interesting the sounds for Power and Big Power are the words Power and Big Power.

I'm glad you both like the game!

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-02T01:59:56Z

Thank you all for the feedback! Here is what all of the voice overs for the powerup say.

1. yellow lightning bolt: **Power!** 2. blue lightning bolt: **Big Power!** 3. red clock: **Rewinding Time** (said backwards) 4. light blue wormhole: **Ludicrous Speed. GO!** (bonus points if you can name the movie this is from ) This is also by far my favorite one too  5. grey wrench: **Power Repaired.**

If I do voice overs again I'll see if I can make the voice sound crisper. I wasn't really happy with the reverb in the voice myself.

The reason I mixed pixel and non pixel graphics is because Unity's particle system makes it so easy! and honestly I'm not really that good of a pixel artist. There was a way to use textures in the particle system but I can't seem to find it anymore.

As for adding variation to the asteroids, I was just thinking about this on the drive home from work today. I though about having another spawner that created asteroids that move much faster than the other asteroids. It would have been a different color to distinguish it from the other asteroids. Having some that moved from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen diagonal would have been interesting too.

Yes game balance was something I wanted to revisit before I finished but I didn't have enough time. I did a lot of play testing and I thought I had a good balance but it seems at times there is too much power and other times there isn't enough. So yeah, the game is at the mercy of the RNG.

Well again thank you all for the feedback and I hope you all enjoyed playing my game!

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-02T23:35:46Z

@benbennett Wow! I can't believe I forgot to reset that to 0! Apparently I didn't do enough playtesting. LOL! Thank you for playing my game and letting me know about the bug.

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-04T01:56:00Z

@steve-johnson I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I wish I could return the favor and play yours but sadly no windows version. Perhaps next time. Your previous entry for LD38 was awesome!

@sketchycode every 7 seconds the speed of the asteroids and powerups increases. I had lowered it but it seemed to ramp up too quickly. Balance is so hard for me when doing an LD.

@gonutz 994km isn't that bad. thank you for playing!

@doomshmuck The thing I didn't like about the voice over was the little big of reverb. I'm not sure why it was there. I just wanted to sound like a chipmunk haha! Did you ever get any of the red clocks? those slow down the asteroids. Wonder if that would have solved your problem.

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-04T22:40:48Z

Hey thank you all for playing my game!

@cmlsc Really? I even googled it to make sure I spelled it right... *googles it again*... oh, well we'll just add that to the list of stupid things I've done with this game

Pipe Trek by quill18 2017-07-31T23:35:58Z

Not a bad game. The difficulty ramps up nicely and the gameplay is smooth. I peeked in on the stream every now and then to see how it was coming along. For not having a lot of time you did a really good job!

Precious Cargo by CMLSC 2017-08-05T00:17:52Z

I like the mechanic of having to destroy the other airships to power your own. The art was outstanding and the the audio set the mood. Fighting was a little chaotic reminded me a little of smash bros. This was a great entry!

Cell Battles by Wevel 2017-08-02T00:55:58Z

I have to know how you did the blob effect, what was really awesome. I really found myself getting into the game and I even cheered when I beat all of the other colors! The sound effects were well done and really fit the game. I had a lot of fun playing this. Job well done!

On/Off by ThePelranthean 2017-08-03T01:26:36Z

I like the way you interpreted the theme, very original. Sound would have made the experience more intense. Not going to mention the clipping issue as you already know about it. Good job on the game!

Recapitate by superpokeunicorn 2017-08-02T01:39:22Z

I agree with the rest, throwing your head was a lot of fun! I can't believe you made this in Java! The graphics are very crisp and clean. The animations were well done too. I had a lot of fun playing this!

Tycoon by dob 2017-08-04T01:30:23Z

This has to be the most innovative game I've seen in the competition. I really enjoyed playing this. And yes your mechanic was very fun! Well done!

Probe Abuse by minibobbo 2017-08-09T00:09:36Z

The level design was really good and I really liked the animation of the probes. You have some very cool mechanics that I've not seen before in a game. This definitely has a lot of potential to be expanded and I hope you pursue this after the competition.

My Kingdom for a Rabbit! by incobalt 2017-08-02T00:39:12Z

That was a very unusual and unique game. I loved it! Mops Scamper was my heir as he was the only rabbit I select who successfully passed all of the tests. I also loved the font that you use, it reminded me of reading a child's book and it was such a touching, if not just a little sad, story too. I really don't know what else to say. You did and awesome job!

Wreckage by cogcomp 2017-08-04T01:16:04Z

The music was catchy and I really liked the animations. The rotation of the ship and the gun felt a little fast. Have to say I didn't expect the ship to bounce off the sides of the screen but I used it to my advantage . Overall this was a really cool game. Congrats on finishing it!

Lead by pvtroswold 2017-08-04T01:02:55Z

I know programming in C isn't an easy job. Was there a reason you didn't include more levels? I like what you have but I would have liked to play more of it.

And yes making a game in 48 hours is hard but you managed and that's a good thing! Cheers!

Power Planner by Micito 2017-08-09T00:22:53Z

The graphics drew me in and the gameplay kept me! Some nice mellow music would have been cool. This was a lot of fun! Good Job!

Faade by Ace17 2017-08-05T00:02:18Z

That was a visually atmospheric experience I just played! I really love the effects and the audio. Really added to the whole experience. Such and amazing job!

The Power War by yetanother 2017-08-01T23:42:11Z

This was an interesting take on the theme. controls were loose, especially when turning. Felt like I was moving on ice. I actually got to play against someone and it wasn't half bad.

The Bellwether Incident by juxipolo 2017-08-09T00:58:33Z

This was an interesting puzzle game. I'm not sure if it was a bug or not but I only really need to use one of the robots, boxworth. He was able to cap the waste and hack the terminals.I noticed the text doesn't wait for you to press a key to go on to the next page and as it was a little fast I missed what was being written out. Over the concept is really cool. Good Job!

Running out of Power by milano23 2017-08-02T01:14:41Z

Not a bad little game. I love doing sliding puzzles and I really enjoyed playing this one. trying to beat my previous time. My best was 5 seconds, but I think that had something to do with the layout I was given. I won't reiterate what others have said, but I do agree with them. Congrats on finishing and submitting your third LD game!

Airship Engineer by ryte2byte 2017-08-05T21:01:38Z

That was a pretty fun game. I did find the font with the instructions a little hard to read, may have been the background it was on. Though I did think it was a very appropriate font to use as it help with the atmosphere. The graphics were really nice, and the sounds were pretty funny. Overall it was a good entry. Well done!

Broad Empire by bog13 2017-08-05T00:37:03Z

I've always been about game play over graphics. You have some really good game play going on here. I tried to farm the single knights at came from the castles but it seems like I could kill them fast enough or I just wasn't getting enough money to replace the men I was losing. I learned quickly to stay away from the castles unless I wanted to restart the game again . The music was amazingly good! I'm curious in your play tests if you were able to take a castle?

Crystal Menace by hunttis 2017-08-05T01:11:57Z

I like this game, it was fun to play. The "Destroy the 3 nests" level had some slowdowns on the HMTL5 version. I liked that each level has objectives and it wasn't just survive. Others have mentioned the missing items, so I won't reiterate them here. You should continue to work on this game. You have a diamond in the rough that just needs some polish to make it shine!

Ministry of Synthesis by impbox 2017-08-01T00:44:35Z

I was totally blown away by this game! Felt really polished and very atmospheric. I really enjoy puzzle games and this is definitely one I will return to after the all the rating is done. The pixel art is amazing and I liked the added dust clouds when the player moves. Give the player the sense they are really in a very dusty old area. I do have to say I did miss the connection to the theme but otherwise is was a really good game. Well Done!

Zombies 'n Kebabs by alaah 2017-08-04T00:13:12Z

What does Ghost N' Goblins, My Little Pony and Portal all have in common? They make one hell of a game together! You have a very keen imagination and it paid off here. This was a very interesting game. Graphics were good, as was the music. I'm wondering if a trotting and a jumping sound would have improved the immersion of the game. Something to possible look at for your continued development of the game. Good job!

A Miner Inconvenience by Nick Rafalski 2017-08-03T01:02:31Z

Congrats on finishing your first LD and in 48 too! I have to agrees with everyone else, the game needs some sound also I like the pacing of difficulty. Everything else was really good. Well done!

Power, MT by PhilStrahl 2017-08-05T21:51:02Z

This was the most atmospheric games I've played so far! You did an amazing job with this game. I grew up playing text adventures and this brought back some of those good memories. Well done!

Away Team by Joe Miller 2017-08-02T01:33:28Z

I love strategy games even though I'm no good at them. I agree with everyone else. I lost myself in this game and it was such an enjoyable experience.

Tower of Power by DaragonGames 2017-08-02T00:23:39Z

Maximum Power: 17985.00 Power Spent: 113809.80 Enemies Defeated: 186 Buildings Built: 22 Buildings Destroyed: 8

That was a pretty cool Tower Defense game. The game over screen should have been a light shade of blue. that would have made it easier to have read the screen. The graphics aren't bad and do the job and the gameplay was exactly what I expected it to be. Well done!

Game of Cows by greysphere 2017-08-04T02:34:59Z

Apparently I'm not a good farmer so no TV for me. Gameplay was fun. I really enjoyed this little strategy game. I'm not good at it but it was sure fun trying to be a farmer!

Flying Aces - Going the distance! by jotson 2017-08-05T00:51:20Z

I was mesmerized by this game. The audio completely set the mood and I felt like I was flying a biplane! When my fuel got low I would pick some up but for the most part I just did loops!. I agree with the other people this would make an awesome mobile game! Well done!

rop by cyfixus 2017-08-02T00:04:46Z

I agree with @gris, the light mechanic was awesome! took me some time to figure out where the boxes were. I like that the game had no killing and was more of a stealth style game. Overall it was a alright game. Congrats on finishing your first LD!

Powerwatch by Gurbx 2017-08-04T01:42:27Z

This was an awesome platform shooter. The pixel art is amazing and yes I agree that no music is better than annoying music . I died a lot but that was because I was enjoying the art instead of playing the game haha! Very well done and it definitely shows the power of Java. Well done!

Fuse Cell by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-08-04T00:01:10Z

I love horizontal shooters and this is hands down the best Jam game I've played so far! The charging mechanic was great and very innovative It was such a wonderful game to play, everything about it amazing. The music, the sounds, and especially the pixel art! You knocked it out of the park this time! Bravo!

PowerBalanceTD by Infernal 2017-08-05T01:31:26Z

I like TD games, and I had fun playing this! Would have liked to have seen more than one tower to build but otherwise this was a good entry! Well done!

Dim Wit by benbennett 2017-08-03T23:38:02Z

High score of 8 using the mouse  What a cool game. I agree with @algu I could totally see a game like this on a mobile phone. Music wasn't bad and the sound effects complimented the game. Well done!

Cards of Power by 5cents 2017-08-01T00:15:45Z

Interesting way to interpret the theme. I love card games and honestly something like this never crossed my mind.

Here are some helpful tips to learn and grow from.

* A small tutorial on how to play would have been nice. I really didn't understand what was going on when I was playing.

* I noticed that some of the buttons were not working or worked differently than intended. - The Options button on the main menu did work. - If you click Edit Decks then click Return it took you to the Credits page and the Return button doesn't take you back - If you click Play Match then Edit Deck and then click Return you come back to the screen where you can select to play either the Computer or another player but the Return button on this page won't work.

* There was no way to exit the game unless you were on the main menu.

* There were some random spelling errors (not that big of a deal, it can happen to anyone )

Congrats on finishing the your 4th LD! I hope you'll be back in December for LD40!

Power Hog by Kashif 2017-08-04T23:03:09Z

"You are a laptop loafer hogging all the power sockets in the famous coffee shop." This line literally made me laugh out loud. Its a cute game with a simple premise, which is exactly what you want to make in a game jam. Sound and music would have help set the mood, but all in all it was a fun game to play! Good job!

Power Struggle by skyr 2017-08-04T00:41:35Z

Wow! I really like this game.

Here are some of the small issues I found:

1. Dice don't snap to grid in either the Resources box or when you move them back to the Results box 2. Computer player's dice are overlapping when placed 3. You shouldn't be able to select yourself in the red box

Other then those items, the game was delightful to play. Oh and I liked that you used power is a different way than most people, including me, interpreted the theme. Well done!

Ready, HANDHELD! by emanvidmaker 2017-08-01T01:44:03Z

The jumping controls need a little work as there is a delay when you press the jump button. I loved that when the battery power starts to run out the music starts to slow down and the screen starts to fade. Overall it is not a bad game. Well Done!

Ted Crashed! by Sebastian-M 2017-08-03T00:51:56Z

First congrats on finishing your first LD! This was a really interesting game. How big is the map? I moved in one direction for what seemed like an eternity and there was no end in sight! Not going to mention what other already have except to say I really loved the music. I had fun playing this and hope you decide to work on it more after the judging is all done.

Drain by morphine 2017-08-09T01:47:09Z

You created a very amazing atmospheric game. The drain mechanic was simply brilliant and was a great take on the theme. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. Well done!

The Circuit by jchaplin 2017-08-01T01:55:53Z

It reminds me of an old Atari 2600 game called Dodge'em. Graphics are crisp and clean. Gameplay is solid. I do have to say it was a bit odd when I started the game as there was no menu and I was immediately in the game. I honestly though it was a demo running until I lost .

Depths of Oceania by cnoble 2017-08-02T01:07:26Z

What a creative and interesting game you created. I have to agree with everyone else, that shark was awesome! The graphics were well done and I loved the movement of the fish. The music and sound definitely helped immerse you as you played. I did find the gun a little tricky but once I got the hang of it everything was cool. Well done!

PowerGem Arena by Wizard.Exe 2017-08-03T23:22:44Z

For a Compo game its pretty solid and addicting, I found myself saying 'ok just one more time'. I actually had to stop myself from clicking the retry button. Hard, yeah maybe so but balance can be hard. Whats easy for one person could be difficult for another. Its a very subjective subject. I think you have something great here and you should continue to work on it. Fantastic job for your first game jam!

ElectriClick by Cornelia Xaos 2017-08-03T00:12:46Z

Cool game. I played to year 150 before I died. I agree with Wizard.exe, I would like to see you continue this further.

Spaceship Ferry Captain's Handbook, Chapter 12: What to Do in the Event You... by sketchycode 2017-08-03T23:52:06Z

Pretty fun game. Definitely the kinda game you want for a game jam. Small scope but with some depth and this fits the bill. Sound effects were spot on, controls were good but just a tad confusing. The little blue spot on the ship looks like the front so I wasn't expecting the ship to move in the opposite direction. Once I figured that out flying the ship was really fun! Good job!

Dear Leader's Love Powered Peace Bomb by Zyzzyzzyz 2017-08-04T00:54:41Z

For your first game is was pretty good. The pacing of the game was nice and the music was good. I chuckled each time I played and shook my head when I died. You should continue to work on this game when the rating is over. You have something good here! Well done and congrats on making your first playable game and for your first LD!

Battery Worm by ExciteMike 2017-08-04T22:54:58Z

What an awesome take on the Snake game! I do have to agree that some sound and music would definitely help set the mood. The graphic style was really cool, and I thought it kinda neat to be playing on a cylinder. Well done!

Forty2Eleven by rEaX 2017-08-03T00:39:15Z

The models were great and I loved the music. If you timed your non missile shots with the drum you made a really cool beat  I liked the way the ship handled, it was floaty but that was good because there is no friction in space. all in all it was a great game and I have fun playing it.

Automated Explorer by Aircraft Terrier 2017-08-03T01:16:11Z

This was a fantastic game! I loved the puzzle concept and having to use different drones to achieve your goal. The game felt really polished and complete. Well done!

Space Bear Panic by Chris Coe 2017-08-03T23:12:43Z

Wow! That was really good. At first I missed the part about the lava spreading but I found out about it quickly when I tried to get some energy and the lava spread just as I picked it up and killed me! Then I started over and won  I really enjoyed playing this. Yeah it was easy but was still fun. I like the graphics and the bears animations, as it reminded me of the 2 frame walk animations of the NES. Good Job!

Televised Intelligence Manager (TIM) by ianburnette 2017-08-03T00:32:00Z

I chuckled at the talking screen. very unique game and a good interpretation of the theme. This has to be the most humorous game I've played so far. Well done!

Skelly Zone by mattmirrorfish 2017-08-03T01:39:40Z

Hi Matt, its nice to see you partaking in the Ludum Dare! The motion blur shader you use was pretty awesome. Music was cool, and very atmospheric. controls took some getting used to. I also take it you had some lighting effects going on too did you. You should continue to develop it after the judging is done. I for one would like to see what else you could do with it.

ANSWER ME! by Viliar 2017-08-06T03:33:02Z

This was an interesting game. Purely one of a kind. I played it twice and I will admit I didn't know I needed to type the responses. I was just clicking them and a solid red box just went into the chat. Not sure if that was a bug or not.

Winter has come by GistNoesis 2017-08-01T23:56:34Z

I liked it and will be playing it again after the rating is all done. The text to the right of the buttons could use some formatting love. When I run out of power you have an alert popup that says you ran out of power but when you look at your power you see that its a positive number. Seems like you update the power internally before showing it to the player. Other than that I really liked it!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Crunch Time by gelisam 2017-12-06T00:19:12Z

I didn't have a problem running the game as I used the 64 bit version. At first I was a little confused but after quitting and restarting the game I started to get the hang of it. Was able to get to the end but I don't believe I found both solutions. As for the game it was a nice blend of strategy and humor. The audio fit well and helped set the mood. I just wish the background room chatter continued through each of the scenarios. I think it would have given it a more authentic feel for working in the corporate world. All in all it was a well done game. Kudos for submitting!

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-06T00:53:39Z

I'm not going to lie, I scored 1100 and when the first crash happened I laughed out loud, then other cars started to crash and I laughed out loud some more. This went on for about 10 minutes. It got to the point I had tears in my eyes from laughing so much. This was a very satisfying game. As for the gameplay I agree with what most of the other people mentioned. I really enjoyed the music as well.

Pirate Cat by valkyrie 2017-12-07T00:47:27Z

Cute little game. interesting take on the theme. kind of addictive too. I found myself retrying to get a better score, keeping more gold and getting fewer cats. Well Done!

Here is my 4th run

Apocalypse Corp by Chipmonkey 2017-12-07T01:23:37Z

First, congrats on submitting your first game to Ludum Dare! I really enjoyed this clicker-tower defense hybrid game. I thought the pacing was good. Tt gave me time to build up before I had to defend myself. I didn't noticed the lack of music to be something that hindered the game as I was focused on making money for that next upgrade. The same can be said for a background as well, but now that I think about it perhaps a green field background would have enhanced the game. I'm sure there are a hundred changes you could make that would make the game better but for what you do have I found it fun and engaging and I applaud you for a job well done!

Mutoid by Adrenallen 2017-12-06T01:37:35Z

That was really cool. really enjoyed the music, also liked the animation for destroying the bodies. The controls were tight and responsive. Well done!

Gertrudes by MagonX 2017-12-06T00:37:56Z

The tune was catchy :) The movement was a bit odd but its no worse than when I made my first 3d game in unity for an LD haha. Keep practicing and you'll get better. The audio was spot on and I liked the concept of the game. Congrats on your first LD!

Clutter Bug by Abilean 2017-12-07T00:07:56Z

Congrats on your first game jam! Very good use of the theme. The game was simple and straightforward. The music was a little bit too short and repetitive but having the ability to control the volume was good. The sound effects were well done and I liked how each level you received more items to reinforce that you are a hoarder. I made it to level 7 before I stopped playing, but only because I need to rate more game :). This was a great entry!

The Gravedigger by Simone 2017-12-07T02:25:42Z

Congrats on submitting a game for your second LD! This was a well done game, it needs a bit more polishing and a better way to converse with the driver/face the night but overall it was really enjoyable to play. Oh I too had the issue with the mouse going outside the full screen area.I also have to say I really, really enjoyed taking out those zombies! I saved all of my money for the ticket so I only used the initial weapon the whole game but it was still fun to blast those zombies.

Dandelion Rush by Raphael Huot 2017-12-06T01:25:10Z

First off congrats on your first game jam! The controls were a little slippy which made it hard to stay on the dandelions. I like the use of the theme and the music was good as well. You did a really good job on the art.

Aimmo by WoooWooo 2017-12-06T23:37:03Z

It was an interesting concept but it was too easy to get around. It fit the theme well though, and I did try to hit the targets with a full load of ammo but it seems my old reflexes are too slow lol.

Anxiety by Jean 2017-12-07T01:58:37Z

First off, Congrats on submitting your first LD game! After reading the other comments I can agree with them about the controls. I would say the jumping felt kind of floaty, by that I mean it feels like your character doesn't have a lot of mass so they seem to float in the air before coming back to the ground. The art was great and your idea went very well with the theme.

Little Pleasures by Belea 2017-12-07T02:45:15Z

Game tells me to take a seat so I walk over to the chair... and it breaks... OMG! What did I do! I try to sit on the sofa... and it breaks... Jane goes flying across the room... I bust out laughing and that is when I noticed my happiness was going up from breaking the items. At this point all bets are off and I smash everything in the room, except for this box. I can't seem to smash it.. I tried everything I could think of. After about 5 minutes I gave up and concluded the box couldn't be smashed, so I hit F5 and tried to get the other ending.... but I broke the sofa on accident and said the heck with it and smashed the wine on Jane then I proceeded to smash everything in the room again lol! If you can't tell I had an immensely fun time playing your game. I also liked how you tied the theme into it. 10/10 would smash again!

Immune Invasion by Chong Lee 2017-12-07T01:40:26Z

First congrats on your first Ludum Dare. This was an amazing entry, Great immersion with the music and the sounds. It was a little difficult but I really enjoyed the challenge. Well done!

LD42 — Running out of space

Cash Grab by KunoNoOni 2018-08-14T04:15:31Z

@agecaf I have to say with few exceptions this is the best feedback I've ever gotten on one of my games. Thank you for taking the time to play and rate it .

As for the coin spawning speed, yeah on the drive into work I was thinking I should have sped up the spawn rates.

For the music I used a tool called autotracker, here is the link to the one I used. http://ludumdare.com/compo/tag/autotracker-py/ if you search for "autotracker python" you can find a few other repos with updated versions. Also the music is random when you play the game. It chooses 1 of 5 different songs to play.

I will keep the graphics tip in mind for my next game. I will experiment with these tips in my offline version to see if it improves the game. If I'm happy with the results I may upload a post-compo version.

Cash Grab by KunoNoOni 2018-08-15T03:36:26Z

@andrey-ugolnik There is no goal to the game. you just collect gold coins and gold bars until the walls eventually crush you. Gold bars will stop the walls from moving for 5 seconds. I know it says milliseconds in the game, that was a typo. Thank you for playing and rating my game

Path of Excess: Hoarder vs Horde by quill18 2018-08-15T01:33:57Z

Its always a treat to watch you take an idea and turn it into a finished game. Keep up the good work! Congrats on completing your game!

Space Junk Jettison by Mark Smith 2018-08-14T00:15:45Z

Reminded me a little of asteroids but instead of shooting them I needed to avoid them. Sounds and music were spot on! The graphics were amazing especially the colored smoke trails. I didn't find the controls challenging and thought the ship handled well. The minimap was a nice touch and I found it very helpful. Congrats on completing your game!

Blossom by deepnight 2018-08-15T02:02:49Z

What an interesting take on the theme. Even with no sound or music this was still and amazing game. Took me several tries but I was finally able to get to the end. I do hope you work on this post jam. Good Job!

EVOLUTION by Noa Calice 2018-08-15T02:55:03Z

Evolution.png I don't know about you but I'm packing my bags and moving here!

I've seen a lot of psychological thrillers and horror movies of all types but nothing has ever disturbed me like this game did. Between the art, the music and the sound effects you have created a masterpiece of shock and awe along with also telling a very powerful message. I, for one, applaud you. This is an amazing entry and the most unique game I've ever played. I don't normally hand out 5/5's but when I do its for games that, hands down, deserve it! Congrats on completing your game!

Loot Keeper by outstar 2018-08-15T00:32:31Z

So I made it to level 16 before I had to force myself to quit . I'm not sure I can add any new insight, the previous comments pretty much sum it up. I will say you all need to work on this and put it on steam and/or mobile. This is a really cute and addictive game. Congrats on completing your game!

Stop the Darkness by Florian van Strien 2018-08-14T02:49:50Z

This was so good! I beat it by stopping the darkness and then I continued to play after I won. I agree that some sound and/or music would have been nice. I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, the mechanics or the graphics. Congrats on completing your game!

Crystalmancer by Crowno 2018-08-14T03:40:48Z

I am blown away by this entry! I love the old school look and feel of the game, especially the music. The controls to me are fine. I have no problem using a button to switch between hammer and rod. It is a tricky game to master but I look forward to the challenge! Congrats on completing your game!

Bag Man by GeorgeBroussard 2018-08-14T04:00:55Z

Another amazing game George. I was only ever able to get 10/16 bags. Just couldn't time those jumps right . Controls felt good to me, and I love the art. Very innovative take on the theme. Congrats on completing your game!

SWORD1 by Lawrence 2018-08-15T03:42:40Z

After watching @elfcirynn play it I just had to try it out myself. Its really good. Great use of theme! Congrats on finishing your game!

Spaceabon by Agecaf 2018-08-14T03:01:38Z

It works in Firefox with no problems. That was a cute little game! I love the music, I could listen to it all night long  The graphics were nice and crisp too. Congrats on completing your game!

Cartoon Tactics by Jiri Hysek 2018-08-16T00:04:17Z

Pretty cool game. I like turned based strategy games. The map destroying itself is a nice touch and gives you a sense of urgency. Congrats on completing your game!

Evolucity - Build as high as you can! by Mazzletov 2018-08-15T02:23:55Z

I laughed so much while playing this game. what a great idea for the theme. Congrats on completing your game.

Light Towers [WEB] by Jack Maxwell 2018-08-14T00:02:24Z

I like the idea you came up with, it was clever and an interesting use of dexterity and color. A break after completing a level would help as would a transition between levels. Some king of feedback to let the player know they have completed the level and are moving onto another one. Having sound and music help with immersion and keeps the player engaged with the game. I do understand time issues and the need to cut certain things, so I don't fault you for not including sound and music. All in all I did enjoy playing the game. Congrats on completing your game!

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-15T01:06:33Z

Really cool game, I liked the mashup of tetris and tower defense. I would like to see the finished product if you all decide to work on it post-jam.

Falling Ecosystem by sprvrn 2018-08-14T22:47:00Z

I really like this game, this city builder of doom! The graphic are amazing as are the sounds. I will say at the end when you've built on all the spaces it does get a little boring just watching the the your city fall apart. Then again it's also kinda surreal, knowing that everything created can be destroyed. Congrats on completing your game!

Deep Down by Nyunesu 2018-08-15T03:31:47Z

Deep Down.pngThe thrill of victory never tasted so sweet!

I want more of this! This was an incredible game! I want to play the full commercial game on my Nintendo Switch! Please make this happen. Such a solid entry! The music was great, I had the game running and just sitting on the first level while I was browsing twitter. The Art is fantastic and the controls felt good. Congrats on finishing your game!

Claustrophobia by deformhead 2018-08-14T22:55:09Z

You need to make this a commercial game and put it on console and steam. I really enjoyed this puzzle game. I love the movement mechanic, reminds me of Dragon's Lair! The only thing left to say is I want more levels  oh and Congrats on completing your game!

Eject Tape by star-sought 2018-08-15T03:53:05Z

What a really nice game. Loved the music, and the deep inspirational backstory it really gives the game meaning and purpose. Good job on the graphic as well. Congrats on finishing your game!

A Way Out by sdrrv 2018-08-14T22:26:28Z

For a first game this is pretty slick! simple concept executed well. A small nitpick, on the loading screen you may want to put a button to click before you enter the game. This would give the player enough time to read the instructions. Some people read fast while other read slow. Other than that this was a really good game. Congrats on completing your game!

Crumble by anstabo 2018-08-14T22:12:24Z

This reminded me a little of super monkey ball. The graphics are really well done and I found it fun to play. I too feel you should continue this and make it commercial. I could really see this on the Nintendo Switch. Congrats on completing your game!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Mortal Decisions by KunoNoOni 2018-12-03T19:32:24Z

@wskilljoy What happened when you tried to run the game? I just tried it myself and it seems to work for me. I did notice it was in daft status and I have switch it to published now.

Mortal Decisions by KunoNoOni 2018-12-07T04:59:06Z

First and foremost I want to thank each and everyone of you for playing and rating my game!

@Zhorky - I was trying to play on the heartstrings of the player. The premise of the game is this: "You have been a space trucker for many years. Everyday you haul shipments which can save the life of those who need it. Unfortunately, for every life you save there are others that die. You can’t save them all, so you have to decide who to sacrifice." So who do you save and who do you sacrifice? Do you deliver the shipment of medicine to a group of settlers or a heart that can save the life of a child?

@dwam - 1) I do agree, I should have given more feedback to the player to let them know what was going on. 2) I guess I could have given more backstory for the player. No you're not a freelancer, you work for a hauling company that specializes in shipments of life saving items. You are presented with 2 job offers, one for delivering a shipment to help many people and one for delivering a shipment for a single person. Whichever job you do not choose goes undelivered and the person or people needing the shipment die. The monetary difference in the jobs is because the shipment for the multiple people is larger. As for the risk of the space pirates, I do believe that is a bug I never addressed. It's suppose to be random for each job but someone its always the same for both. 3)That is a good idea, to be honest I never thought about doing that. 4) When the ship is moving there are some stars in the picture, but I do get your point and it is a good one.

@justalocalhero - Yes, I do agree more feedback to the player was necessary. Nope you were not unlucky, there were 2 types of jobs one for helping multiple people and one for helping a single person.

@andrea - I do agree with adding more feedback.

@ale - I noticed trying to outrun the space pirates was a little too easy myself. With all I was dealing with I never got a change to address it. Also the space pirates were added to act as a level of difficulty. Oh and they can kill you if your hull or engines reach 0% or you run out of fuel while engaging them. Getting stuck while repairing at 100% hull is a bug. I verified it a few minutes ago. I saw the problem but I do not believe I can fix it because it is easily avoidable.

@frank-gevaerts - I originally had the credit goal at 20k, but decided that was too much for an LD Game.

@lmb - Yeah, I love that type of music too and I used autotracker to make it.

@deathray - actually there is a toggle, I just forgot to mention it when I initially posted the game. I did at it to the bottom of the description right above the NOTES from the Author. If you hit the ESC button you'll get an option menu that allows you to change the volume of the music and the sound.

@game-mon - Yeah I checked and it's definitely a bug. I had reworked how the get fuel and repair ship buttons worked and I forgot to get rid of the disabling of call dispatch button. Not sure I can fix it though as it is easily avoidable.

@budark I appreciate the kind words and I agree 100% I too respect each and every person who submits a game for the compo and the jam as well. To give up a whole weekend and create a game from a theme is amazing. I've watched it happen since LD 22 when I first entered the Ludum Dare, I've seen some absolutely incredible games come out of each and every LD. Some of them are then refined, and brought out on Steam which is mind blowing to say the least. So yeah, I have a ton of respect for each and every one of you.

Exploding Sport by jk5000 2018-12-06T00:29:14Z

Very well polished for 48 hours. Music was nice to listen to and the sound effects were funny.

The Temple of Falala by JCMonkey 2018-12-03T21:45:05Z

You totally earn an 'A' for effort! I'm not going to beat a dead horse as others have already pointed out the parts that need improvement. What I will say is that I enjoyed playing the game. I felt the music set the mood, and I understood what needed to be done. The graphics were clean and sharp, and the mechanics felt good. Player movement took a bit to get used to as the sprite moves in the direction you push and not the way it is facing. In the end all that matters is that you finished a game and you've learned from your mistakes.

Conga Line Survival by fashionbatman 2018-12-03T19:55:52Z

This is the most original take on the snake game I have ever played! Well Done!

For the Team! by Ale 2018-12-03T23:52:06Z

WOW! What a major undertaking for 48 hours! Congrats on finishing it. I liked the mechanics of the game and the way you implemented the theme. I agree some of the enemies had too much health but all in all it was a fun game to play.

Save & sacrifice by deepnight 2018-12-08T01:14:05Z

Solid entry, amazing pixel graphics and above the bar gameplay. Yep a typical deepnight LD game

Wildfire: Forest Containment by candlesan 2018-12-03T19:47:39Z

I loved the fire, was it a made using a shader or the particle system? The graphics are well done and remind me of gaming in the 90's :) The topic of the game fits the theme so perfectly, and I like that you are bringing awareness to this horrible but very real situation going on right now in California. It's a simple yet very powerful game and I enjoyed playing it!

The Depths of Fortune and Glory by Julian Creutz 2018-12-06T02:09:42Z

I like the 'push your luck' mechanic you used to incorporate the theme. I loved the low-rez graphics and the size of the game just felt right for a game jam game. Were there any features you wanted to include but had to cut because of time?

STAR JUNK by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2018-12-08T00:55:38Z

So I hope we'll get the full game on steam and nintendo switch by this time next year! This was simply amazing, but I'm not surprised. Your entries are always a blast to play

Volcano Royale XTREME by Morg 2018-12-03T20:19:51Z

The music and sounds were awesome! I liked the premise of the game and overall execution was good. I did run into a bug though. I was on wave 7/15 and I had booted all of the other people off the platform but the wave never ended. I just kept hearing a bomb/mine exploding over and over again. The announcer's voice was a little hard to understand when he said the name of the powerups. Could just be me though. What I was able to plan was pretty cool and I found myself immediately hitting enter when I died to try again.

Baldaquin 9 - I chose life by marcellus 2018-12-04T00:10:35Z

That was one trippy experience! I was not able to get by the second area because I just don't have the reflexes anymore.

Lost In The Flames by WongKongPhooey 2018-12-05T23:37:39Z

That soundtrack! Graphics are great and I liked how you used the theme. Really enjoyed playing your entry.

Volcano Fling by Barrier 2018-12-06T00:34:45Z

When I flung the first villager and her the sound effect I literally laughed out loud. I like the way the villagers bounce when they don't make it into the volcano. This was a really enjoyable and funny entry to play. Good Job!

Appease the Gods by Fernando Tonon de Rossi 2018-12-05T22:36:41Z

I'm curious what you would have made if you had the other 43 hours  Not bad for 5 hours, I like the hand-drawn approach and at first I thought there was a squeaky wheel in the background when you recorded the sound effect but then I realized its the death squeal of the rabbits. Good Job!

Maze of Death by hamrathdoesldjam 2018-12-06T01:19:25Z

I really enjoyed this game and I like the way you used the theme! I really dig the graphics and applaud you for making this on the C64!

Archibald's Snobbish Journey by Thomas_Bringer 2018-12-05T22:55:06Z

I scored 19 items. I enjoyed the nods back to some of the previous LD Themes in the intro  The music was really good. This was a great entry, the idea was simple and works so well for a 48hour game jam. Well Done!

For The Will Of Gods by Erendelous 2018-12-06T01:32:35Z

Interesting game concept. Not going to repeat the same issues everyone else had but I will say I too find balancing very hard to do during the Compo. The Art and Music helped with the immersion. Good Job!

EagleSong by planschi 2018-12-06T01:45:40Z

First lesson learned: don't double tap the move button  I got a kick out of this game. What a great use of theme! the graphics are amazing and the gameplay was easy to learn. I really enjoyed playing this game.

Brace For Impact by Keksa 2018-12-04T00:29:44Z

Pretty cool little game. I like the fact you showed the location and distances of the missiles but not the direction they would go when they arrived as it added to the challenge. The graphics were clean and sharp and the ship controls were responsive. I liked the little drift the ship made after you stopped moving in a certain direction. This added to the experience. All in all, this was a good game. Congrats on submitting!

Finding the Lamb by John Gabriel 2018-12-03T21:02:03Z

AMAZING! This game was scoped perfectly for the Compo. I can only assume most of the time was spent on Art and Sound and they were very well done. The music/chanting really set the mood and atmosphere of the game.

I was able to pick the correct Lamb and Lying Spirit

Lost In Space by Sargonius 2018-12-03T22:08:31Z

I love puzzle games! While I was only able to save 5 cubes this is a game I'll be coming back to play again until I'm able to save all 10 . Mechanically this is a sound game, and the appearance combined with the music really set the mood.

I do agree that some type of a tutorial might have been a good option to have. Something as simple as a tool tip that briefly explained what each clickable's function was before starting the game.

No Sacrifice is too great. by Rhou 2018-12-05T23:05:31Z

Congrats on submitting your first LD game! I had the same audio issues as the others did. The graphics were good and the gameplay incorporated the theme very well.

Fuite / Escape by Thomas Lacroix 2018-12-06T04:18:19Z

No one mentioned it so I'm not sure if I did anything wrong but there was no audio at all when I played. Also when I started the game a command window opened with it and it had debug information in it when I would press the LMB or the RMB, I'm thinking this is just how the framework is.

Anyways, Congrats on submitting your first LD game! I really enjoyed it and would have liked to have seen more levels, but for a game jam game it's a good length. Overall this was a good entry.

Cultist Clicker by TheseusInABottle 2018-12-03T23:18:04Z

I love that you changed the cursor to a meat cleaver! As others have pointed out it's your standard clicker style game.

Just a few thoughts for you. The abilities don't display how many of them you have taken. You don't see how many automatic sacrifices per second you have. I would remove the click sound on the body as it only plays after you release the mouse and its really not necessary. More variety in the abilities would have been nice. From what I'm seeing I can only increase the number of sacrifices per click or the number of automatic sacrifices per second. Though, truth be told I'm not sure what else you could have added. So this one might be a none issue.

Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare! Hope to see you in the next one.

Fading Light by BinaryLynx 2018-12-05T23:22:25Z

I think it was neat that you included a radio which you can turn on and off in the game. That said I would have included a sound when you pick up an object and when you place an object. Other than that I really enjoyed the entry. I like adventure games and this reminded me of those old sierra adventure games from the 80's. Well done!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Scrapitalism by quill18 2019-04-30T00:11:42Z

Games is put together really well. It has a nice flow and everything just works. The sounds were funny and the art was well done for a non artist. It amazes me you put this together in just under 30 hours.

Overburnt by Ithildin 2019-05-03T00:31:05Z

Ha ha! I really liked the game and the use of theme. The art is really nice and my only complaint would be that there is no sound or music when playing, beyond the instruction screen. I'm glad to see you continued to develop this game after the compo. Congrats on completing the Compo!

Warlock Cardgame by krammetje 2019-05-01T01:56:19Z

I love card games so this one was right up my alley. It was an interesting idea to have the wizard battle a town. Actually it was quite refreshing! The town's deck seemed a little to focused in what it played but balancing a card game is tricky especially when you only have 72 hours to do it. Other than that I found the game a delight to play and I applaud you for finishing the Jam!

Heartaker by lukbebalduke 2019-05-01T00:39:35Z

Very impressive for a Compo game and visually stunning! The death effects are well done and the controls are really responsive. I liked the subtheme used in addition to the main theme, Death is useful  which I'm surprised wasn't part of the voting this LD. Congrats on finishing the Compo!

Choice of Life by victorcrafty 2019-05-01T01:25:09Z

A very strategic and calculating game you made there. The art is really good and I like the little touches like if you sacrifice your ears then the sound is muted, or your eyes and then the screen minus the HUD disappears. For those, that are curious, sacrificing your lungs is a very bad thing  Mighty fine job! Congrats on completing the Compo!

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-05-01T00:58:09Z

I've played many clicker games in many LDs but this one, hands down, is my most favorite one! The look and feel of this one is adorable and as many have already pointed out, very addictive! So if "Creating an amazing and addictive game for Ludum Dare" was on your bucket list you can cross that one out. Congrats on completing the Compo!

Devil's Death Collector by gamesplusjames 2019-04-30T23:46:34Z

Very creative idea for a game. Had a very 80's retro look and feel to it. Controls were good although I would have liked the camera to have been a little higher. All in all I thought it was a fun little game. Congrats James on finishing the Jam!

Might of the Druids by candlesan 2019-04-29T23:28:21Z

This was a really fun game. I honestly could have played it all night  It was a really engaging game and the leader board was a nice touch. I made #1 with 4085 points I believe. I'll be checking back to see if someone beat it.

Dungeons of Taradith by DrunkardWolf 2019-05-01T00:13:54Z

Reading through the comments already left and I echo what a lot have already said, more variety in cards and monsters. I will also add that the boxes explaining about the cards and how to use them could have been a lot bigger. Other than that I found the game quite enjoyable and after having played a bunch of deckbuilders this LD I'm totally thinking about making one myself next LD!

Path of Redemption by Simon Rahnasto 2019-05-03T01:39:17Z

In my eyes you all won the Jam! This game was phenomenal and hands down the best Jam game I have played to date! My only complaint was the lack of a proper ending and yeah maybe the weapon balance but other that that I loved every action packed, voice acted, puzzle thinking minute of this game! Well Done and congrats on completing the Jam!

Arena Of Wealth by GreenBoxGames 2019-04-30T01:22:27Z

This reminds me of the arcade game Smash TV. This was the perfect compo game idea. simple and too the point. The art style and very appealing, and the sounds and music really drive home the mood. Speaking of the sounds I find it refreshing you choose to go with a low booming sound for the gun instead of using the traditional laser high pitched sound. Well done and congratulations on completing the Compo!

Deep Space Prospector by Roidz 2019-05-03T23:17:16Z

I see why you wanted to use that music, it just fit the game so perfectly! This was a well polished game experience. As I was flying around in my ship mining energy essence I thought to myself that it would be awesome if there were more areas to mine in. I just assumed there was only the one area, and that is when I came upon the pink shopping cart! I was like "Oooo, I wonder what goodies this shop holds". I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it was 4 other areas! Then I saw the prices and looked at how much I currently had (225) and was like "Yeah I'm going to need to do a bunch of overtime to get that much energy" Congrats on completing the Jam!

Temple of Sacrifice by Dooda 2019-04-30T01:08:10Z

Loved the game! everything works well together and it all adds up to a nice solid game. I didn't understand how to use the Priest but other than that the game was fun. Hope you continue to work on the game, and congratulations on completing the compo.

Rashness by Saering 2019-05-01T23:46:40Z

I totally agree that the pixel art is amazing! I got a kick out of the explanation of the one shot boos upgrade  My second LD game was a shooter and I got the same feedback about not being able to hold down the fire button. I wouldn't worry about it though, I've seen plenty of AAA games that don't have this feature. Personally I was fine with it, and felt it added to the difficulty of the fight. All in all this was a really good game and I enjoyed playing it. I beat the boss in 2 tries  So congrats on completing the Compo!

Guardian Sphere by Pixel-boy 2019-05-01T03:14:17Z

The music and the graphics definitely take me back to my SNES days. Sad that you didn't add any sound effects to the game as it would have added a whole new level to an already great game. I initially thought the control scheme was a bit odd but then I remembered this was a co-op on the same keyboard game and it made more sense. You needed to find keys that didn't interfere with one another. Hands down the square guy is my favorite. I got to level 11, with 55/55 orbs. My Price reduction was so low I was barely spending anything on upgrades. I have huge projectiles and lots of them and my damage was off the charts! I was so OP I could not be killed. I could easily take out the end boss in one volley. Never understood how the turrets worked and I didn't bother with the bombs, credits, shield, or slow bullets. Thank you for making this game as it was the highlight of my day! Congrats on finishing the Jam!

American Healthcare by Abraxas Interactive 2019-04-30T00:43:13Z

The eye candy is real! I love the screen tilt when moving left and right. Solid game and effort, well done!

Arrow of Light by sylvie 2019-05-03T01:04:55Z

Yep, this was a pretty cool game with some awesome mechanics and music! I actually left it running while I was browsing the web . I love platform games so I really enjoyed playing this one. As already been stated, the shooting mechanic is very cool and very satisfying to use. Again I have to say the music was fantastic and I loved listing to it. Congrats on completing the Jam!

They ran out of mana by Sergi Montaner 2019-04-30T00:28:29Z

Sounds would have made this a much better experience and would have helped with the mood. I liked the idea behind the game and with a little more tweaking the AI could be made more challenging that it is right now. The art is really well done and the cards have some very unique abilities that I've not seen before in a card game. I hope you plan on continuing this after the jam as I believe you have something really special here. Some more characters possibly with there own distinct style of play, add in some funny sounds when playing a card and some wacky monster music and I could see this on steam early access  Anyways, congrats on completing the Jam!

UnderBreak by MlleAB 2019-05-03T02:01:53Z

Reading through the comments I see that you are aware of this issue with the game so I won't bother repeating them here. I will say that I really enjoyed playing and when I got to the end and got the bad ending I had to play again to see if there was a good ending. I did achieve the good ending as well. I especially liked the text at the end of the good ending  it went by a little fast, which was most likely intended, but I was able to read some of it and it made me lol for real! Congrats on completing the Jam!

Fools Fortune by Gear Steak 2019-05-03T00:19:03Z

This was a really cool game. Gave me an Ultima character generation vibe. Sound would have helped with the experience, but its understandable that you may not have had time to do it. I know all to well about this. I look forward to the updates you do as it is a fun game to play and the art is spot on. Congrats on completing the Jam!

D.R.I.E.D. by JasonD 2019-05-02T01:05:47Z

This was an absolutely beautiful experience! The art and sound/music worked so well together. I don't believe I've ever played a game like this before. I was sucked right in from the moment I saw the title screen, my only complaint was the length of the game. You guys have something really special here and I hope you all continue development on this or even another game. Congrats on completing the Jam!

Faery Tales by Ryan Wine 2019-05-02T01:26:21Z

It was an interesting game. I found that if I choose a smaller screen resolution that game didn't have that zoomed out look to it. I'm betting you left the sprite size at the default of 100 that Unity has. I really enjoyed the music and the graphics were well done. Except for the background picture, it seemed to clash with the foreground art. Congrats on completing the Jam!

If you want to increase the creepiness factor just play this game in the dark. Wow... just wow! Congrats on completing the Compo.

Little Robot Run by KunoNoOni 2019-10-08T03:06:07Z

@burnedkirby Did you try jumping at it? Its such a perplexing problem. I'll look at it again tomorrow and see if I can figure out why its happening since this would fall under game breaking bug. Thanks for playing it though.

Little Robot Run by KunoNoOni 2019-10-08T23:37:24Z

@burnedkirby, @corrade, @karlipoppins I am 99% sure I have resolved the issue with the red door. I humbly ask that you give my game another try. I will warn you though it gets a lot harder in the yellow and the blue sections. Patience and timing will be your friends.

Little Robot Run by KunoNoOni 2019-10-09T02:41:27Z

@burnedkirby I'm so glad you decided to give it another try. I thought about checkpoints but with it taking less than 10 minutes to play they seems a little too extraneous. As for being hard, I'll be the first to tell you I do think it is a little too hard at some points but I feel that once you beat the game you get a sense of accomplishment. Thanks again for playing it

Little Robot Run by KunoNoOni 2019-10-11T03:04:48Z

@fredfilo How did you get by the portal guardian without killing it? Yeah I really need to work on my character controller. I realized when I was done why you were able to jump by touching the sides of the platforms? I only have one collider on the player model instead of adding second one just for checking if you are on the ground. Thanks for the playing.

Little Robot Run by KunoNoOni 2019-10-12T06:18:58Z

@pkenney what resolution is your monitor set at? I tried to reproduce the issue you had and was unable to do so. Also what browser are you using? I tried in both Chrome and Waterfox (this is a forked build from Firefox). I'm really sorry the technical issues you had made your experience of the game less than stellar. I can say there is only one enemy in the game you need to shoot and that is the portal guardian in front of the blue door. Also I just learned and did it myself today that you don't even need to kill the guardian as I left too much space between it and the door... so if you fall off the platform above you can actually open the blue door and enter the portal without ever firing a shot.

Dr. Deckenstein: Escape from Castle Brainia by quill18 2019-10-11T02:58:26Z

"You have escaped castle brainia. waffles collected 212/212 100%" It was fun watching you make the game and even more fun playing the game! Congrats Quill!

Build Or Die by pkenney 2019-10-13T16:21:51Z

It took me a few tries to get used to the movement of the ship. As other have stated the core gameplay mechanics are solid and very satisfying. I also spent some time watching the animations and was curious how you were able to get the animations and firing in sync. This was something I tried to do in the game I made but I was not able to achieve it. Looking at the source code I see you didn't use the built in animations. So I assume you did some sprite swapping. I'll have to take a closer look as I feel I can learn some new techniques to add to my gamedev skills.

Another amazing game Sébastien! I always enjoy playing them and this one is no exception! Well done.

Light Bots by Inventivum Games 2019-10-09T01:49:33Z

This was a great game. I love the art and game design. The puzzle weren't too hard but with the speed the robots moved it took a little bit to get the jumps completed successfully. I did it though, got all the way to end and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it!

The Persistent Thief by Darylsteak 2019-10-09T03:46:40Z

Such a wonderful and immersive game. A lot of detail for a compo game and I love the graphics. Amazing entry and a job well done!

Ludum Dare 45 by Trypants 2019-10-08T02:47:47Z

Yep, controls need some work and the music stops playing the moment you pickup a block. The game looks beautiful though. Congrats on completing the Compo!

Terra Nil - Reclaim the Wasteland by vfqd 2019-10-11T22:37:13Z

Every LD there is always that one game you love playing so much that you lose track of time. This is that game for this LD. I'm not sure if it was the really chill soundtrack or the fact that I was turning a wasteland into a beautiful and lush grassland. But whatever it was it's absolutely brilliant! No need to echo what others have already said, they've pretty much detailed the small issues with the game. I will say that I do look forward to any updates you make on the game. Congrats on completing the Compo!

Color and Creativity by Collin Thompson 2019-10-27T01:10:14Z

I found the ball hard to control, especially when the camera changed angles. At the very beginning of the game when you touch the red square and get the cube you have to jump onto to get the blue square, if you are pressing 'W' and then jump up the ball will start moving left when the camera angle changes. Other then the controls I really like the game and the idea of building the level as you play it. Well done!

Cast Away by OrdiNeu 2019-10-11T22:58:20Z

Nothing On Frontlines by Pavel Ivanov 2019-10-08T02:08:28Z

Well Done! Game was fun to play and the sound effects were really well done. Congrats on completing the Compo.

Mr.Grind by iozsaygi 2019-10-11T00:36:29Z

Congrats on finishing your first Ludum Dare! I really like the game, I still have it playing in the background. Its a great start and you should develop it more or use it as the basis for a new game. There is so much potential and you've just scratched the surface. I look forward to seeing what you do with this next and what you bring out in the future!

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-09T01:07:55Z

This was your first game!? This LD was my 22nd and all I made was a crappy platformer! This was an amazing and wonderful game to play. I hope you enter more LDs and I look forward to playing your games!

War with Nothing by karrar home student 2019-10-15T23:01:26Z

Is the thing you didn't finish the sound? Or the fact that there is no death for the player? I will say it is interesting and like other have mentioned, it is a good base to start from if you're trying to make an "avoider" style game. I've made plenty of those for an LD before. Congrats on submitting and good luck in the Jam.

Empty Soul by Danielcmcg 2019-10-11T01:34:59Z

I love the art style, its very retro. The words that popup disappeared a little too fast for me, but other than that this is a solid game! Good Job!

Egg Problem by Bry 2019-10-08T03:01:50Z

That was a lot of fun to play! Very nicely done pixel art and retro sounds. Congrats on completing the Compo!

Sokobaiogenesis by Bagenzo 2019-10-09T02:30:50Z

What an awesome original idea! Really enjoyed play this.

7 Days by AppoxGames 2019-10-08T23:52:44Z

Visually breathtaking! Everything about this game oozes well thought out design and polish. Amazing job!

Unlock Hero by Plazmaz 2019-10-09T03:01:31Z

This is a wonderful and very fun game to play. The unlocks are spaced just right and I'm sure balancing them made the design very interesting. I'm curious if the style of this game is its own genre. I've not seen another game like it and I'm tempted to design one of my own! Great entry and Well Done!

Prison Escape by shaurya_juneja 2019-10-11T02:26:11Z

I was so proud when I beat the first level and then I saw it was the only one is then I was sad because I wanted more! Please make more levels! The game is hard but rewarding, it is definitely no for those with little patience. Great job.

Space Flight of Survival by himegized 2019-10-09T02:17:51Z

I know all about only having a few hours to make your game. There have been several LDs where I wasn't happy with the game I was working on and scrapped it to start another one. The last time this happened to me I had 8 hours to make a game. So I applaud you for submitting your game and I like the direction you were taking it. I hope you decide to work on it some more post compo.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Stranded by KunoNoOni 2020-04-21T10:47:10Z

@itskdog I didn't want to show negative numbers for the food and water so if you don't meet the daily requirement it will so 0.

@sacrface I agree, some feedback about the ship would have helped. Music is not my strong point  But yeah I can see how it doesn't give off a desert island feel.

@orcifried I think I should have either found a better way to do the daily requirement or started the player off with more food and water. Starting with 10 or 15 would have probably given you a better chance. It would have allowed you to scavage for a few turns in hopes of raising the amount of water you can collect. I also though about starting the water with 2-3 but sadly I didn't get the programming done when I wanted to and it cut into my time to balance and polish the game.

@ Everyone: Thank you all for playing my game and for leaving feedback.

Promethean Legacy: Fan the Flames by quill18 2020-04-22T04:33:36Z

Well Done Quill! I popped into the stream periodically to check up on how the game was coming along. It turned out real nice. Congrats on another successful LD!

Sheep Sheep Halloumi by Dining Philosopher 2020-04-25T01:58:55Z

What a cute and fuzzy game! The graphics were well done, and the mechanics were simple yet effective. The music fit the light and airy mood of the game. Well done!

Eternal Flame by Galgris 2020-04-21T01:00:08Z

I love the NES-like feels this game gave me while playing. The art and music brought back many happy memories. The controls seemed a bit off but I was able to work with them. All in all you did a great job!

Down to Earth by ruthiepee 2020-04-25T01:00:42Z

The graphics and music were great! The bambooka didn't fire correctly though when you clicked the mouse button. It always fired up instead of the the angle it was at but that didn't stop me from enjoying the game! Alas in the end I was not able to save the flora or fauna. Well done!

Woodpunk by elisee 2020-04-25T01:42:58Z

What and amazing game! The music was outstanding and I loved how each area had its own music. The plant based crafting system was really cool as was being able to craft minions to help you. I can't believe how big the map was and all the different areas you created. This was a very impressive game!

Blood Oath by alexhonor 2020-04-23T22:09:12Z

This was a very enjoyable game. Is there anything more after you beat the boss? Just one small issue I noticed. It is possible it get on the wall graphic and then get stuck. This can happen to the player and to the computer opponents. Other than that this game was pretty awesome! Oh and I beat it using the keyboard.

Morose by 100th_Coin 2020-04-22T01:29:02Z

That was a very interesting game. The seed system for growing flowers was really cool and added a lot of depth to the game. I played the windows version and didn't run into any bugs. It was a fun and enjoyable game for being made in 48 hours, well done!

A Cold Walk Home by Stefanie Leitch 2020-04-20T23:38:53Z

I liked the art and the way you presented the story. The boar boss was a difficult but I liked the challenge it brought. Great Job!

Queen's Rose Garden by candlesan 2020-04-22T00:15:43Z

The music complimented the gameplay as did the sound effect for healing the flowers. The first time I played I didn't realize you could rotate the droplets and I found the game a little difficult. I played again and that is when I saw about rotating the droplets. This made the game much easier  All in all a pretty solid game.

GhostVac by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2020-04-23T00:50:54Z

And here I thought all you did was pixel art but wow was that machine life like! Gameplay-wise I liked the mechanic of sucking up the ghosts and then shooting them into the holes. Reminded me of those games of skill that you find in carnivals and places like that. From time to time it was a little difficult to suck up the ghosts but hey that is how those machines get you to put more quarters in! All in all this was yet another example of your extraordinary talent, not only as an artist, but as a game designer too!

The joys of parenthood by IronyGames 2020-04-20T23:50:49Z

I literally screamed "WTF" at my monitor when I was near the bed during the baby needs meat sequence. Well done! Oh and the minigames were really cool. I laughed doing the singer as I was horrible at it.

Battery Panic by HacksawUnit 2020-04-24T13:32:58Z

A very clever and interesting take on the theme. I thought the art and music were very well done, and just added to my enjoyment of playing. I feel like the battery was draining a little too fast and when completing a chain it felt like the reward was not enough. Is the reward based on the length of the chain? If it is then it would make sense as to why I was only getting a little bit of a charge. Overall though the game was fun and enjoyable to play.

Hacking is Probably Not Like This by sayumeki 2020-04-21T01:28:30Z

This was a very creative game. Some puzzles were easy some were difficult. All in all I like it! Well done.

The Seeker by GeorgeBroussard 2020-04-21T23:51:17Z

I know its only the bare minimum but this is really good George. I honestly don't know how you did it. What the game lacked in visuals it made up for it in fun. I loved the pixel art especially the caveman and the visuals for the fire were pretty cool. The controls were very responsive and the atmosphere and mood really immersed me in the gameplay along with the sound effects (Loved the thunder!). I could honestly see this as a full fledged game with many levels and hazards. Congrats on finishing another LD and for making a great entry!

Onward Momentum by binary_coder 2020-04-22T03:02:00Z

That was a lot of fun especially the last room! You should continue to work on this after the compo as you have something really special here.

Keep Her Happy by OrciFried 2020-04-21T13:07:33Z

Truly one of the most innovative games I have ever played in the 23 LDs I've participated in. Its a game where your words really have meaning and you can learn a lot about yourself in playing it. Truly an exceptional job!

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-23T20:12:50Z

I love clicker games and this one had really great art for it too! The voice-overs were so hilarious I played well after beating the game just to list to them. I did find it odd that the different areas were capped and that I wasn't able to get the game to play itself but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the game. Well Done!

Growing defense by Fis 2020-04-22T13:11:41Z

The art for the game is beautiful and stylish. I can agree with the comment about the plants being overly needy  I felt like having some keyboard commands to select the tools would have helped with that but I'm concerned if it would have made it too easy then. All in all it was a great game and I really enjoyed playing it.

Final Flower: Petals of a Lost Age by Scott Steffes 2020-04-22T13:44:37Z

This was an amazing game! I just wish my finger dexterity was better  The game was very engaging, the level design was well designed and challenging. Sound and graphics were spot on and the main mechanic with the flower was very clever. Well Done!

Reckless Brave by dimlight 2020-04-22T12:52:59Z

I love this game! This is how you do a puzzle game. The graphics and sound are vibrant, the puzzle design is sharp and the over all layout is easy to understand. The only issue I had was I wasn't about to finish a level because the key was too low.

RecklessBrave.png

The Dragon's Curse by Aditya Kumar 2020-04-22T03:38:51Z

The overall presentation made the game very immersive especially the music. I liked how the map was random on each playthrough I did. I wasn't able to save the poor fellow but I enjoyed the time I had with him though

Captain! Captain! by SuperGamersGames 2020-04-21T02:29:32Z

I love the mechanic of the solo battery. The music is very relaxing to listen to but I do agree it is somewhat difficult but not in a bad way. Perhaps difficult is the wrong word to use. What I should say is its like chess, easy to learn but hard to master!

Ignited by The Blue Hatted 2020-04-23T01:07:02Z

I love the color scheme, it reminded me of my old DOS days of gaming! The concept was very interesting and the controls were very responsive. Graphics were were cute and very well done, as were the sound effects. All in all the game was top notch and I enjoyed play it!

SPS10DS3 by Retti01 2020-04-21T02:15:07Z

The AI player is actually quite good and I laughed when I first fired my gun. The music sounds very familiar to me but I can't quite place it. All in all it was a very nice game.

King's Table by PetTurtle 2020-04-24T19:49:17Z

This was a very clever and strategy-laced game. The graphics were very appealing and I loved the fresh new take on the Tower Defense genre but amount of money you got after each wave wasn't keeping up with the growing cost of the towers. This lead to times where the only thing to do was just click the next wave button. The theme worked well for this game and it almost makes me wish there was a theme tie with 1 minute to prepare. So not only would you have to keep your king alive BUT!! you only would have a minute to prepare your defenses! Overall this was a good game!

Satisfy'n: Keep the Love Alive by BlackOpsBen 2020-04-21T00:21:06Z

So I got out through the trees and drove off the world and... so that happened........Overall it was a cute little game. I got my love and energy bars maxed, got the car and of course NARUTO RUN!

Feed Me More! by Itskdog 2020-04-22T01:54:47Z

I really enjoyed this one. The gem crafting was a neat idea and the monster's commentary while I was running around making gems was hilarious! Since you're aware of the issues I won't mention them again and will end with saying this was a great entry for the compo. Congrats on finishing your first LD!

Flower Defense by Evolving 2020-04-20T22:52:13Z

I have to agree the art is amazing! I found it a little jarring when the game just went back to the title screen after a snail touched it. Other than that is was a great little game for a 48 competition.

Nature by rjerez192 2020-04-21T01:48:48Z

This was a really cool game. I music was soothing and the graphics were cute! I loved the over design and mechanics of the game. Well Done!

YOUR RAGING SPIRIT by madbookstudios 2020-04-21T00:45:13Z

I really enjoyed this one. The controls were very responsive and art and animations were very appealing. I've never played any of the smash games but I'm going to have to look into them now.

EICON TOWN by Sacrface 2020-04-21T12:38:16Z

I really like this game. I can only imagine the time it took to create the models, which look incredible! Art is not my strong suit and 3d art is not something I even attempt! The only issues I had were the lack of audio, a little confusion with the marketplace stalls and the text on the daily report not centered vertically. The lack of audio is understandable given the graphics and all the math you had to do. Overall this was a fun and satisfying game to play!

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-20T23:58:47Z

This is the perfect jam game because its simple yet engaging. The music was very nice to listen to and the difficulty pacing was really fair but challenging

The Game of our Lives by Owl_Skip 2020-04-21T02:02:00Z

This was a beautiful, relaxing and powerful game. I loved the music and the particle effect in the background. Amazing job!

Across the Lake by stephan steinbach 2020-04-21T11:16:20Z

Absolutely brilliant! Such a simple idea and it was executed beautifully. The colors, sounds and music made for a very zen atmosphere not to mention the addictive gameplay. I just found myself clicking again and again just to see if I could beat the previous distance I got! The art was amazing and I loved how the scene in the background transitioned from sunset to evening. My best was 85.3m with 29 skips.

@binroot I used array's to keep track where each room lead to.

@yeomsley I tried to create choices that felt viable. I can say some rooms took me quite some time to complete because I was having a hard time coming up with choices that felt good. Yes I did leave clues and I'm glad you were able to pickup on them.

@ruthiepee First of all thank you for the kind words and thank you for playing. As for the issue, I am unable to reproduce it. What browser were you using? Also what is the Zoom level of your text in the browser?

@ditam Thanks for playing and no matter what I score in the final ratings this LD will go down as my best! I have a cheat guide for my game! I don't think I can ever top this!

Dino Chomp by diaonic 2020-10-06T03:44:23Z

I really enjoyed this and the little dinosaur was so cute! I like how the first few levels explained the mechanics to you. The music was pleasant to listen to and wasn't obtrusive. All in all I thought the game was done well. Sfx would have just added to the experience. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Raised by Serpents by binroot 2020-10-07T01:56:22Z

That was a really wild game! The gfx were really good as was the overall presentation. The music really set the mood for the game. I agree with the others that the controls were a bit hard to understand but I did manage to win. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Fort Loop by deepnight 2020-10-05T23:07:11Z

I have to admit that every LD I look forward to playing your entries and I am sad when you don't enter. This is another great entry into your ever growing LD portfolio.

The controls felt good and the art and animations are top-notch as usual. The puzzles were creative and I liked the comments on the levels. Overall its a another great entry.

Loop Swat 'em Gravity by Nick Rafalski 2020-10-07T03:50:53Z

This was a really great game! I had so much fun playing. The gfx, the sfx, the music and the game balance were done exceptionally well and felt really polished. I still can't get over how much fun this game was. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Dungeon Simulator by Yeti Kid 2020-10-06T01:26:32Z

I really enjoyed playing this. Visually the game was very appealing. Sfx were good, the premise of the game was simple yet effective and the game play was easy to understand.

That said there was one area that needed a little work. The camera scroll was too loose and floaty. At first it made playing the game very hard to do but making the game full screen helped a lot.

The only other small issue I had was that the ESC key was used to restart the game. It also just happens to be the button that exits fullscreen on itch.io

All in all this was a solid entry. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

This was the coolest game I've ever played for Ludum Dare! It was a very original idea and the presentation was done so well. Moving the ribbon around was really fun and the mechanic of splicing the ribbon with another one was really cool. I was sad that it was short, so I just played it a few times  Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Prison of the Dream Weaver by candlesan 2020-10-06T00:34:31Z

I like the card mini game used for upgrading the player. The game has that 'Let me try once more' feel to it. Controls felt good and were responsive. The art was simple but effective. The leader board was a nice touch.

Ouroboros by Simon Rahnasto 2020-10-08T00:41:47Z

That was super amazing! I really enjoyed this one and the gfx were so well done. The voice overs were a nice touch, the music was great and the overall gameplay felt really polished. What you all accomplished in 72 hours is really amazing. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

magic Ice husky save the squad from a whirlpool and narwhals by MoseGames 2020-10-06T01:37:24Z

First, congrats on finishing and submitting your game! I agree with the creativity of the art I really liked the water.

Hyperloop by jmoocow2003 2020-10-07T03:27:01Z

This was a fun game! The music and sfx were really good as was the use of theme and the overall presentation. I liked having the second weapon as a option to get out of a sticky situation. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Copy by mauricioscherer 2020-10-07T04:14:24Z

That was a really cool memory puzzle game. The art on the walls was so cute! The game felt very polished and the walking animations of the player were very smooth. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Deja vu by Thomas Volpato 2020-10-08T22:12:23Z

You did quite well on your first 2D game with Unity3D. The gfx and character animations were done well. I really liked the dying animation and to me the death sounds wasn't too loud but I'm also not wearing headphones when I play. The movement felt good to me but I did notice that the character would slide off the edge of a block onto the block below it. I suspect this is because the bottom collider on the player is a circle. Other than that it was a good game. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

YOU MISSED MY STOP by Roolow 2020-10-06T02:14:24Z

When the game ends and you want to play more, that is the mark of a good game. This is one of those games. I didn't have too many problems with the controls and I thought the overall presentation was great! The sound used for braking was a little unexpected too some time to get used to. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Stuck in an inner tube! by UkuleleFury 2020-10-07T00:57:51Z

The gfx and music were top notch! I played with easy mode off and got 457 points. Controls took a bit to get used to but once I did they weren't a problem at all. Overall this was a fun game to play. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Loop Invader by ZwodahS 2020-10-07T00:45:32Z

I really liked this game! Gave me that old vector gfx arcade vibe. The gfx were crisp and clean and the gameplay was fun and addictive. I found the 2 button scheme much easier to use than the 4 button scheme. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Time Prison by Tadeas Paule 2020-10-08T02:18:18Z

I do agree the circular design was really cool. The reset bug slowed me down that I was only able to make it to the third room.

Cluck of the Time Egg by Yeomsley 2020-10-06T02:42:26Z

That was a lot of fun to play! I rescued the time egg and a lot of gremlints died in the process muhahahahaha! The visuals were appealing and the overall presentation was good. The sfx were funny, especially the gremlint's laugh when you attacked them. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

The Trade Secret by Milestone Games 2020-10-06T01:58:36Z

This was really well done! The art and overall presence was reminiscent of those graphic adventure games I used to play back in the day . I really hope you continue the story as you have something promising here.

ZBX 9800 by Jonathanfdr 2020-10-08T03:14:26Z

This was a really fun and enjoyable game! The gfx were cute, the controls were easy to understand and the overall presentation shows that a lot of polish went into this game. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Orbitrary by Aimainiac 2020-10-08T22:55:34Z

I really like this game. It was simple to learn yet hard to master! the gfx and sfx were really great and the controls were very responsive. I was able to only get 35 points and I had a lot of fun play this! Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

bloTT by MiniBetrayal 2020-10-07T01:38:37Z

Great game! The gfx were well done and the controls felt very good. It was a really cool idea to have the level loop and with each loop make subtle changes. The teleport and death animations were done very well. Overall this was a fun game to play. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Train Trouble in Cog Valley by Bea 2020-10-07T23:52:42Z

That was some awesome music! It was also the most original tower defense game I've ever played. The gfx were clean and colorful. I didn't really have a problem understanding what I needed to do but I can see how others might. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Loopsie by Enes Ayyildiz 2020-10-08T00:11:26Z

This game gave me flashbacks to temple run . The controls were good and the gfx were really sharp. Being that there was no explanation as to why a bad turn would get you stuck in a loop I made up the reason to be because the platform ended and I died so now I have to start over again. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Chromen by CaiClone 2020-10-07T02:53:34Z

For your first game jam this was a well done game. The opening story was touching and really helped set the mood of the game. I like the use of the theme I thought the overall presentation was great! Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Press the Buttons by FluffyGameDev 2020-10-06T03:08:18Z

The moment I saw the buttons I immediately thought of the tv show Lost . This was a cute little game. Yeah the keypad pressing was frustrating at times but solving the puzzle while also managing the button presses was satisfying. The interface was simple and clean. The music was delightful to listen to and voice over really added to the mood of the game. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Among The Stars by Layne Stokes 2020-10-07T23:33:20Z

The movement was very reminiscent of the game Gyruss, or Tempest both games I am very familiar with so I had no problem with the movement. My hand-eye coordination is another thing! This was really fun and adding the leaderboard just made it that much more addictive. The gfx and music were top notch. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Stuck in a loop by aligator 2020-10-08T01:13:30Z

This was a good entry. It was fun to play, the controls were good and it was a good use of the theme. Music would have added to the experience but I don't fault you for not adding it. I like the gfx, and the use of colors to differentiate the enemies. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Mobius Station by mrhthepie 2020-10-08T22:37:09Z

I love pico games and I should really look into making something with it myself. I like the gfx and the sounds as well as the chiptune music. The first few tries had me scratching my head and then I noticed the boxes with numbers in the upper left corner and then the pictures on the boxes made sense. After that I started paying attention to how I was storing my boxes. All in all it was a pretty fun game. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game.

Disasteroids by Will Chambers 2020-10-07T01:11:24Z

That was a cool and unusual game you created. Asteroids is one of my favorite games to play. It's pretty impressive that you built this using your own game engine. I too would recommend you update the description to let people know about the itch.io link. I also would have missed it had I not checked the comments. Congrats on submitting your game!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Drilling With Dice by KunoNoOni 2021-04-27T00:07:31Z

@listonos @bw-devel Wow! Thank you both for the feedback! I will admit this game is feature light and very rng oriented. I spent way too much time think about what I wanted to do with the theme and then how the game was going to work.

@bw-devel You do want to put all of your dice in the Processing dice tray, but since you get 1 reroll you should use it to see if you can turn the low numbers into higher numbers. This way you can earn more money.

@verygenuinecraze The instructions are in the description and in the game. I apologize if they were confusing.

Drilling With Dice by KunoNoOni 2021-04-28T19:02:22Z

@deadmanjw How did you get it to go bigger than 1024x768? I removed the fullscreen options from the HTML.

Drill18^2 - This is Just a Drill by quill18 2021-04-27T01:45:10Z

When I saw one of the themes could possibly be Deeper and Deeper I said to myself that there would have to be a sequel to Drill18! I'm kind of surprised it wasn't a sim style game like the first one. Card games are cool though and I liked the balancing of Workforce to Morale. I can see you had a lot of fun creating the cards as I chuckled at some of the names and descriptions.

Fathom Pass by Listonos 2021-04-28T00:44:52Z

I've never heard of a Teletext before but because of this game I looked it up. The game was pretty cool, and the story was well written but I'm going to have to agree with the rest that you should have hidden the results of the actions.

Arctic Drilling Team Simulator by Flatgub 2021-04-27T04:38:54Z

At first I was confused as to what I needed to do. I stuck with it because the game looked like a lot of fun and I was right, this is a fantastic game! I did poorly at it as all but one of my researchers died. but I was like "this is fine".... and then the drill broke! Well done!

Deep Learning Simulator 2021 by smbe19 2021-04-30T04:16:20Z

I found this game quite interesting to play. Before I knew it half an hour was gone! That is the mark of a good game. Congrats on a great entry!

HyperJack by pkenney 2021-04-30T02:51:40Z

Yep, I can relate to not knowing what to do with the theme. This was a really fun and interesting game. I'm no good at it, but I did enjoy playing it! The pixel art was well done and there was a good use of theme. Well done!

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-04-27T02:59:40Z

This was amazing and I can only imagine how much better it would have been with sound! You have such an amazing talent for making games. I am in awe every time I play one of your Ludum Dare entries!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-27T02:37:59Z

41:48 was my time. The innuendos was hilarious and the puzzles were easy at first and progressively got harder which made for great pacing. It was slightly difficult to get my sword in the dragon as I kept misjudging where the hole was. Patience is definitely the key to winning this game.

The art, music and overall presentation was fantastic! All in all this was an amazing game so a big thank you to you all for making it!

Fly Brie To The Moon by candlesan 2021-04-27T01:07:47Z

 I really enjoyed that! It was a cute and funny little game. Gosh now I'm hungry for some :cheese:

World Eater Jormungandr by Dilem 2021-04-28T03:29:10Z

This was a nice chill game. I really enjoyed the art and the easy to grasp mechanic. I do agree that judging when you could eat the next size item was a little hard but some trail and error never hurt anyone

Chuck Challenger: The Hunt for Malpractice Mole by Phlip45 2021-04-28T03:12:57Z

I got a kick out of this game! I liked that if you turned the opposite direction you could shoot backwards! I just thought that was so funny

Stabalot by bw_devel 2021-04-28T02:38:14Z

I'm loving these Pico-8 games and this one was no exception! I have to say this was a very creative and clever use of the theme and I loved the music.

Street Spark Racing by BytingGames 2021-04-30T03:50:52Z

I really like games that go outside the box with the theme! You did an amazing job creating this, and it was a blast to play. Congrats on a great entry!

The Forgotten Halls by vfqd 2021-04-27T00:56:32Z

As other have said the artwork in this game is fantastic! Until I read the comments I honestly didn't notice there wasn't any music, I guess I was too engrossed in the game! I will say the moving backdrop was kind of hypnotic at times. All in all I really enjoyed this game.

Magic Frontier by Firebelley 2021-04-27T03:57:20Z

The music was fantastic! I really enjoyed this little puzzle game as some of the levels made you stop and really think about how you were going to complete it. Other times what seems obvious was wrong and it was the hidden path you needed to find that would help you solve the puzzle.

The art and sound were very appealing and I'm sure this game would make a great mobile game. You could have add-on packs with more puzzles. Anyways, thank you both for making this great game!

Coal Mine: Terrorist Takedown by exewin 2021-04-28T04:13:26Z

That was a blast! (pun intended) I really enjoyed this a lot, so thank you for making it. I thought about doing a top down game but since I'm horrible with art I couldn't get the character to look right  You on the other hand it a great job with the art and the sounds! The game had good pacing and the levels were laid out very well.

Quick Scrap by Vimlark 2021-04-29T04:37:45Z

Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner! I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said. This little game was pretty darn amazing!

Submersive by deadmanjw 2021-04-29T04:22:19Z

For what you have it is very interesting. I have tried using Blender and I'm just no good at it at all  Your models are really great and I particularly like the squid looking ones. I really thin you should keep working on this when you have the time. I think you have the start of something great here.

Nav's Endless Nightmare by Zizhen96 2021-04-29T04:59:45Z

This was a pretty cool game and it was pretty polished for only being made in 72 hours. I also really like the art and the music.

Terminal by Squidsheep 2021-04-27T04:11:54Z

A very clever and innovative game. Visually this was amazing, but a little confusing. I really believe it was my lack of understanding than is issue with the game.

Into the Deep Web by Jon Topielski 2021-04-27T03:11:04Z

As dice games go that was fantastic! I really enjoyed playing this and was sad when it was over

Blackout by Frasse 2021-05-01T22:38:29Z

This game was magical! The music really set the mood and the art was top notch! This was a wonderful and entertaining game to play!

The Clownfish Home by crazyMouse 2021-04-30T03:25:31Z

I was not ready for that piano when I died! I liked the game, it was difficult but not unfair. There was a good use of theme, and a theme within a theme. You did a great job with the pixel art and with the movement of the clownfish.

Rootss by antonishig 2021-04-28T03:56:47Z

I like the take on the theme. The controls were easy to understand and it was a fun game to play.

Deep Sleep - The Sandman by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-04-28T01:15:38Z

This was a fun little game that is perfect for an LD game, which congrats on doing your first one! I chuckled at some of the audio and I thought the art was very well done. I actually ran the game in Waterfox, which is a fork of Firefox and the game ran great for me.

The Right Way by OffworldDemon 2021-05-02T04:44:56Z

This was a strange and unusual game. I liked it, the sounds were very mood setting and the art was very well done especially the "ghosts"? I keep thinking the enemies were the previous people you made it to the basement and after seeing it wasn't what it was cracked up to be they are trying to stop you from making the same mistake. And here I am yelling 'YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!" while mercilessly beating them with my fists.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-04-24T00:31:04Z

With the exception of the mouse look being a little slow and the small issue with clipping this was an amazing experience! I might have to get the family to play this with the lights turned off!

BunkerDefense by UnlikelyNomad 2018-04-26T01:17:30Z

Super Awesome Game! The one-liners the computer says are great. The art is fantastic especially the dinosaurs. *"Ah! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"*. I love the sense of immersion I get from playing the game. I'm going to put on some headphones and turn out the lights for future plays to increase it. It would have been nice to be able to read all of the help outside of the game rather than doing it while my base was being attacked. This is my only gripe. Congrats on completing and submitting your game! Oh and green is where it's at!

Mortal Keybat by dob 2018-04-25T22:07:38Z

I can't type to save my life  Good use of theme and I loved the dialogue  Congrats on completing and submitting your game!

Clidger by Mathiouza 2018-04-25T02:38:37Z

I really like this game. Good mechanics and execution. ship controls are a little floaty and a bit too fast also I killed myself more than the enemies did. Congrats on completing and submitting your game!

Rythm is Lava by egordorichev 2018-04-23T19:58:02Z

I'm going to echo the comments of @Apace as I couldn't have said it better. However I will add that I love the art and the music. I think Pico-8 games are really awesome and I love to play them!

TRPG Meets GAMES by ccglp 2018-04-25T00:28:36Z

What an awesome way to use the theme! You need to make a full TRPG out of this. The music was really amazing. Congrats on completing and submitting your game.

RPGs Done Quick by rhythmlynx 2018-04-25T00:00:59Z

2:20.1. this was my best after several attempts, guess I'm not cut out for speedrunning  pretty solid game, wish it had sound though.

Type Skater by Swarrly 2018-04-25T22:26:06Z

I'm not sure I can add anything new that hasn't already been said. Sound and Music are key to a good game. Your art is amazing though, and the difficulty is a bit on the high side but difficulty balance is something I struggle with myself. I'm just no good at typing even though I've been using a computer for a very long time! The other points mentioned in the comments valid and learning from them will help you improve. For a first entry this is pretty top notch, my first entry was total crap! So congrats on completing and submitting your first LD game! Hope to see you in the next LD in August.

Flee, little guinea pig! by tipyx 2018-04-25T00:49:43Z

Add music and sound, some other quality of life improvements and there would be no reason you couldn't sell this game on Steam! This is now my favorite game of the jam! I completed it in 64 shots. Beautiful use of theme. Every time I got caught I kept hearing the alert from MGS and I would say "hamster, hamster, Haaaaamster" it never got old.

Deadication by bcvery1 2018-04-23T22:52:01Z

Congrats on completing your second LD! My humans died too  and I think I found a bug. I harvested all of my fields, using all of the harvests I could. When they grew back I didn't have any harvests left but was able to still harvest.

Also I didn't see anyone mention it but there is another window that opens when you launch the game that has what I believe to be debug information in it. I was able to see my harvest number go into the negative.

Colony Sniper by ab200 2018-04-25T02:56:56Z

Yes the shooting sound is really good and funny, the aliens noises not so much. Love the pixel art and the overall use of theme. If you do continue besides a tutorial please put in a way to move the camera other than edge pan. Congrats on completing and submitting your game!

bill ball by flome 2018-04-23T21:22:28Z

It took me a bit to understand how to attack the skulls, but I eventually got it and made it to level 6! I felt the sound the flippers made was not needed as you already had the ball making sound every time it bounced off of something. I also agree with the comment above about room names, or maybe each level is a different color? Other than that I found the entry to be pretty solid. Good job!

FARMCADE by GeorgeBroussard 2018-04-23T20:36:41Z

Great to see you doing an LD again! Man that rabbit had it out for me! I tried several times but wasn't able to get by level 4. Love the art and the music, didn't find it annoying or anything. Would make a great mobile game.

FARMCADE by GeorgeBroussard 2018-04-23T22:14:52Z

@temmy its called autotracker. I use the same one for my music.

Mysterious Floating Gems by roflmoqkz 2018-04-24T00:57:07Z

Difficulty ramped up a little too fast but this is something I struggle with myself. The only other issue I had was with movement. WASD move in the same directions regardless of the way you are facing. took me a bit to get used to that. Good Job though completing and submitting your game!

Dyeswap by morphine 2018-04-24T02:49:49Z

Absolutely amazing! Seriously the best game I have played so far. I really liked the teleport cube effect. might dig into your source to see how you did that.

Congrats on a great entry!

Card Royale by Ruoyu 2018-04-25T02:05:21Z

I like the idea and use of theme. I've made RNG games in the past so I understand how much of a PITA it is to balance it. I found that the "Right" cards came up the least as far as the direction cards were concerned. All in all it was a good game. Congrats on completing and submitting your game!

Danger of the violent woods by Kultisti 2018-04-24T01:17:11Z

The immersion was great! The mini games took a bit to understand what I needed to do. I liked the little Easter eggs you put in there. I only found the hedgehog and the LD. Were there others? Great Job completing and submitting your game!

Walter's Well by Marcus Otterstrom 2018-04-26T00:03:22Z

First, congrats on completing and submitting your first LD game! When I got to the point of spawning the platform I had no idea I could double jump. It just happened by accident. Spawning the platforms felt odd, no reason was given as to why I could do it nor that I could spawn two of them. Though I do like the mechanic, and the one with clicking the buttons to move the platforms. It provided some very strategic options for completing the levels. I only made it to level 3, but I plan on returning to this game to complete it once the voting is over as I'm curious about the other levels. Again, congrats on completing your first LD!

Papa Mazai by WalkDiGidong 2018-04-23T22:13:00Z

I will echo what most have already said. I too closed the instructions and only opened when I need to find out something.

Firing the gun is too slow and a visual indication of when I can fire next would have been night.

Resource gathering is really slow, I would have lowered the amount you got and had it be part of the clicker side of the game like energy is. Say every 10 clicks, chops down a tree or breaks the stone or the wall.

The lack of sound and music makes the game feel a little empty and doesn't immerse the player into your game. I'm assuming the lack of time is why there is no sounds or music.

The graphics are subjective and by that I mean either the player will love/like them or they wont. Personally I didn't find anything wrong with them.

All in all you have a good idea here and it just needs to be fleshed out a little more and polished up a bit. Good job in completing your game!

Yet Another Turn Based Bullet Hell by jf1989 2018-04-25T21:52:15Z

I enjoy puzzles games so I was right at home with this one. I completely understand not having enough time. I ran into that problem myself. I agree the generated levels are a bit hard but a little tweaking can fix that issue. Congrats on completing and submitting your game!

1on1 World Cup 2018 by Jaychitects 2018-04-24T23:10:58Z

Congrats on completing and uploading your game! What did the spacebar do? Everytime I pressed it the ball would fly in the air, almost looked like the game was resetting.

A new Dimension ("First" Person Shooter vs Platformer, HTML5) by leorid 2018-04-24T01:54:31Z

I always wondered what a 2d sprite would look like in a 3d world! This was a fun little game and I really enjoyed playing and finishing it. Well done!

Platform Bubble Shooter by Zamecki 2018-04-25T02:19:37Z

A challenging yet satisfying game that I'm not good at  I like the difficulty curve which is something I struggle with myself in my games. Well done!
