Fun game! That clover sure is useful. I found that when going through any narrow horizontal passages, I could only pass if my feet were at the very bottom, and it could be hard to align myself correctly, especially when wearing boots.
Overall a fun take on the theme. I love the progress by knowledge type games. Exploring and optimizing the path to try and finish quickly is a satisfying core game loop. Biggest issue I see is with the collisions. Not sure what engine this was but a lot of engines let you adjust the collision masks in some way. Lowering it to be the bottom half of the player would help players move through some tight passages and feel more like other games with the same views. Good work

@thelonewolf @thevideogamester Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! I will make the collision boxes more forgiving in a future update.
Interesting concept and neat minimalistic artworks. I also liked the attention which was put to the details like phrases for all of the town folk.

Good job on creating a playable world. Darn Gremlints!

Reminds me a lot of 60 Seconds Hero. Fun experience!

Well done! I really like the approach! The sticky walls made a little bit harder to run with my boots! :P
I really enjoyed this! It reminds me of some of the original action RPGs like Ys, and I was really impressed by how the mechanics, despite being very unusual, came together in an intuitive and thoughtful way. There are some obvious technical issues like sticky walls and wonky layering, but you put together something pretty decent, nice job.

@mutuware @hadryel Keep an eye on your boots around gremlints... ;)
@fedora I certainly thought of Half-Minute Hero or whatever it is called as the game came together. I wanted something a little less frantic however.
@quinn-patrick Oh right, I'm surprised I didn't think of "Ys" with its bumper combat, good call! In this case I took a bit of inspiration from "The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls". I'm curious what you mean by the wonky layering specifically?
Those darn sticky walls are obviously the gremlints fault and part of the lore :P /s
That was a lot of fun to play! I rescued the time egg and a lot of gremlints died in the process muhahahahaha! The visuals were appealing and the overall presentation was good. The sfx were funny, especially the gremlint's laugh when you attacked them. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!
I like the mystique of a "time egg" that resets the world. I probably should have read the instructions since I walked over the entire map and killed everything(i think) but I failed to save the time egg. I didn't know that I had to get the chickens.
The gameplay is very simple but the mystery of the time egg kept me going. The graphics and the mood kind of reminds me of the legendary Geneforge
All around great game. This is my first jam, but wasn't expecting to see an RPG. This game brought back fond memories of the original Final Fantasy (I still have my original Nintendo Power guide in my basement my kids find fascinating). I love it. The sound effects are great and the graphics have that old school feel.
Nice work on the sound effects! I'm impressed at how large the map is! Seriously great work!
Good graphics, sprites by themselves are well done, but maybe working on keeping some style is a good direction) interesting approach on fighting enemies with your hp and focus on you upgrades, the only thing I didn't like in that is not being able to micro enemies in some way) as was said colliding with walls is something so be fixed. Well done)
Woooow i'm so impressed with the map, is so large and good. Nice work!
Wow, nice world you've created! And so much narrative! Very fun to explore. Could use some basic QoL improvements, like music and smoother movement/controls, but pretty fun overall!

I always applaud anyone who manages to make an RPG for LD (especially for compo!). Overall, quite a good game, though I feel the village area could have been a bit smaller, as it was getting a bit exhausting walking back and forth (the boots helped a bit though!)
Large old JRPG map and sprites are good.
but I never used loop system. I like more challenging.
Impressive amount of pixel art for a Compo game.
Fun graphics! I picked up a chicken and a pig - but I died in the northern and southern temples.
If you do continue to develop, some hit animations / damage anims would help on the combat.
