LD45 — Start with nothing

WADJ by HolyBlackCat 2019-10-14T05:48:27Z

Pretty impressive work. I love the way you used giving up controls as a kind of puzzle element. Kind of wish the shoot button was bound to space though as you already had me using one hand for awd and the other for the mouse so it was a bit annoying to have to switch between using the mouse and the j key. Maybe space? Overall one its the best looking and interesting puzzle games I have played from the jam yet so good work!

L.D. Noire by karlipoppins 2019-10-09T05:11:01Z

Is that a office reference I spot? Pretty fun. Nostalgia here we come

Flubby Farm by yazara 2019-10-09T04:23:05Z

96 is currently my best score. Got to come back and beat it at some point! Lots of fun

Singularity by PixelMonkey 2019-10-07T00:16:53Z

I like the visual style. The platforming is solid. I think with some extra hooks, maybe some new movement abilities, you could take this to market with this aesthetic and level of mechanical polish.

Formless by Shugor 2019-10-09T06:08:23Z

Pretty fun. Loved the bee character. Interesting back story/motivations for the slime. The animation and movement fit perfectly. The slam was cool but was a bit tough to get to work properly. A few times the rats bounced back into me rather than away which was a bit frustrating. Overall pretty solid. Good work.

Marooned by whooshy 2019-10-06T22:57:23Z

So I like the graphics. Few notes. Player speed seems to be connected to window size. I spawned in a bush thing the first time I tried to play. And I can seem to interact with anything and not sure why.

Sword Of Nothing by Birdlay 2019-10-09T05:24:52Z

Love the lunge. That trashcan creature will haunt my dreams. I couldn't seem to reliably win in combat though.

Ammodillo by Jeremy Ryan 2019-10-06T23:11:35Z

This is my favorite so far. Controls are smooth and its a novel use of the dodge roll. The only thing I would suggest is maybe making how you get bullets clearer. Great job.

Ammodillo by Jeremy Ryan 2019-10-07T00:43:16Z

Understandable. I was able to figure it out the second round. But still the best one I have played so far

Rest In Peace by William Derksen 2019-10-07T06:02:15Z

Strong story. Interesting mechanic with the rods.

2 Shoes by LJFMX 2019-10-13T21:47:19Z

Pretty interesting conceptually. Had a glitch the second time I tried where I couldn't jump at all but not sure what caused it. Would be interesting to see where you could take it with more time.

A shroomy adventure by thetatautau 2019-10-13T20:30:07Z

Love the look of this game. I felt the controls were generally fine though I wasn't a fan of the camera's y movement. Felt like I had to use the look down control to much. Its fine for the look up but I think that adding to the camera so it centers on the y a bit more without having to press any keys would be nice.

Hubcap Pup by Terribly Awesome Games 2019-10-14T05:55:27Z

Best looking game I have played so far. High quality audio too. However the short length is going to bug me for a while since I have no idea what's going to happen forward and since its about a dog I already had an emotional investment. lol. Well done

God of the Elements by Keppu 2019-10-07T02:36:39Z

Love these kind of games. Just relaxing. I like the novel visuals you chose. And the dangerous technology lol

Poppy by Sozey 2019-10-07T01:51:14Z

Love the bow sounds lol. Just a few notes. The way the land moves was giving me motion sick which rarely happens to me. The controls feel like they are pulling left. The other pretty minor thing is I thought at first the spirits where aiming with the damaging attack. The graphics look awesome and I like the fog and the way it limits the view.

Poppy by Sozey 2019-10-07T05:42:14Z

Thats a good idea for the motion sickness. I liked the way it looked just couldn't handle so much movement especially during combat. The exploring wasn't too bad on that front

Poppy by Sozey 2019-10-07T06:23:10Z

I thought so. I loved the way it cycled through them as well. Like every two or three the thwip sound. Awesome lol

EVOLVE by Carpin 2019-10-13T21:11:21Z

Interesting take on a clicker. Love the idea of trying to get there as fast as possible. First time I have used my laptops touch screen in a while. Has some actually interesting takes on the clicker genre so it would be interesting to see where you could take it. Love the art style. The music got a bit annoying, mostly because there seemed to be a seam where it wasn't playing at the proper time causing a bit of a halt in the music throwing off the beat and calling attention to the music.

Gem Miner by Jasper Hansen 2019-10-06T23:58:07Z

Love the graphic choice

Mariposa by Ratrat44 2019-10-09T06:36:31Z

Love the graphics. It was pretty fun to try and hunt down a few especially the rooftop one.

Ideal Date by d954mas 2019-10-13T20:38:54Z

The timer is surprisingly perfect. Enough to stress but also possible. Graphics are strong as well.

GODDAMMIT BOB, I TOLD YOU TO WATCH THAT DAMN HYPER CANCER! by turbo.torbo 2019-10-13T21:57:33Z

I like the visuals. The notes are funny. Not sure what you could do with it further but its a fun little game for a jam.

Adventure by Iswara 2019-10-13T19:46:59Z

So I really like the sprite you have for the main character. As a bit of feedback you should look into a few things about platformers and how to make the controls feel tight. Specifically coyote time. Some pretty good videos such as "5 reasons your indie platformer sucks" and which lays out some pretty cool concepts to add polish to your jump as with platformers that is the players main form of interaction. Biggest piece of advice is keep going!

Human by TinySalad 2019-10-07T01:56:35Z

Love the "curage" lol.

NOTHING GETS OUTSIDE by PashaShef 2019-10-09T05:34:10Z

Pretty interesting conceptually. Considering time constraints pretty polished. Did wish there were more actions that I could take with most objects and it would have been cool to use Nothings inability to be effected by gravity for puzzle solving.

Type with NOTHING by zc74560 2019-10-09T07:36:23Z

Any chance we can get the answer to the last level? I messed with it for a while but there are so many combinations and its hard to know which words your dictionary does and doesn't have. Fun game and most of the puzzles are pretty entertaining.

Color Swirl by sansman01 2019-10-09T04:27:42Z

Nice I quite enjoyed this. The graphics were nice and the game play felt relatively polished.

Who cares if it's buggy, just ship it! by ItsNotAGoodTime 2019-10-14T06:28:48Z

By far the funniest game I have played. Loved the graphical polish as well. Good job!

The Inheritance by VinnieNovido 2019-10-14T05:33:27Z

Love the sounds, especially the road ones, and the humor of the game. The note was also a pretty funny highlight. Had some issues with the controls at the start that somehow fixed itself. Not sure what that was about. Overall a pretty good entry

The Inheritance by VinnieNovido 2019-10-14T05:34:30Z

To clarify the issue was the controls were all doing the wrong thing. Up did left, left did right, and the rest did nothing. But once they started working it was a fun little game

Mr.Grind by iozsaygi 2019-10-06T19:53:19Z

Pretty solid for a clicker made in this timeframe. One thing I would say is for the gold per second you might want another sound. It was fine as a sound for mining but with it going off every second it got a bit annoying. I realize you have a mute which I used but I think adding another sound or maybe even maybe making it a bit quieter would help.

Keep up with fashion by Gustav Andersson 2019-10-09T05:18:54Z

Little on the easy side but that was fine. Biggest recommended change would be to make it so that the player can't be trapped and then just have to sit there until they die.

LEGION by crunchykingcobra 2019-10-07T01:23:58Z

Other than the upward dodge being a bit touchy this is one of the best games from the jam I have played. Good job.

Human Assembly Line by Myburgh Nel 2019-10-13T20:09:29Z

Love the concept. I had some issues with the movement system. I was moving so fast I was clipping through walls, bouncing through the roof, and falling through the arena. I put most of that up to the limited time frame however. Conceptually its very interesting. I think with some time you could come up with some interesting stuff. Maybe some variant modes where you need to build a body to overcome specific obstacles within a limited time. Cool core. Good job!

Happy jumper by Trito 2019-10-13T20:53:59Z

I think most of the problems with this come down to time pressure. I like the concept you got going and I think that it could make an interesting puzzle game if elements if more time was had for level design. The biggest thing I had a problem with is the jump when hitting a wall above made it feel like the character was floating rather than jumping so when hitting a wall above it should set the jump to start falling rather than continue to try and go up. Great use of theme though.

Happy jumper by Trito 2019-10-14T21:41:12Z

@trito I recommend Jonas Tyrollers' video called 5 reasons your indie game platformer sucks. It goes through some cool tips on how to make platformer movement even more crisp. Overall it was strong with the theme though unlike most of the games I have played so it was a solid entry

Tom is Lonely by pedromgdo 2019-10-06T23:32:33Z

This is pretty fun. the floaty jump is actually quite fun to try to solve these kind of puzzleish platforming.

The Legend of Nüdacus by dummydojo 2019-10-09T05:53:24Z

Pretty fun. Love the body slam mechanic. The biggest issue I had is that a lot of time in the late levels the easiest way to beat a level was just to hide in a corner and wait for enemies to kill themselves. This was mostly since the slam was less reliable in the end levels because of the number of enemies and traps. But really strong considering the time crunch.

The Space is Dark! by Bohrmaschine2000 2019-10-13T20:02:23Z

I like the places I can see this going. With a bit clearer instructions you could do some pretty impressive stuff with this as a base. Strong aesthetic and with a bit more polish a highly intense mood. I love the graphical choice. If you were to keep going I would try and see if you could do a kind of a light horror survival with a focus on automation. Target the Factorio style audience with the hook being whatever lurks in the dark in space. Good job!

7 Days by AppoxGames 2019-10-07T05:23:37Z

This is awesome. I would love to see a less resource/time management-esque version. Kind of a digital bonsai. Great job!

7 Days by AppoxGames 2019-10-07T09:49:39Z

No worries. It was more a suggestion if you keep going than a suggestion for the jam. Its extremely impressive what you achieved.

P.O.S.E.V.Y - [CROPS] by Banana090 2019-10-13T21:22:50Z

@chaotikza Need to punch some. You start with nothing so you need to loot the enemies for seed packets.

P.O.S.E.V.Y - [CROPS] by Banana090 2019-10-13T21:25:33Z

So I think this game is interesting. I love the planting mechanic. It does need to be more difficult as after the first one or two nights it was extremely easy and I had way more than enough ammo. Love the graphics, especially the coin plant. The bullets shot were also really cool looking. I think with some more time this could be a full on release quality loop. Good job! Biggest thing I would change is make it so planting plants has either a negative drawback of some kind or at least have them get destroyed as I never had a single one get chomped by the enemies.

P.O.S.E.V.Y - [CROPS] by Banana090 2019-10-13T22:18:37Z

@chaotikza Np. I agree it is a bit rough to figure out at the start. I only figured it out by accident

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T00:46:12Z

@pedromgdo The start price for moving right is 20. Are you talking about the left movement or did my was my purchasable tool tip not clear? Just wondering for next time I do something similar :)

@nachtwitch That was one of the things I was afraid of going with an upgrading game system. Glad the gameplay was able to provide enough

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T00:50:48Z

@crunchykingcobra I wish I had some more time. I was able to implement a quick play token system that you get but if I was to change one thing it would be to implement it sooner for sure. Its about half way and is just past the point where I think most people will be stopping.

@stefanie-leitch Thank you! I will openly admit that is where I got my inspiration for this entry. Used to play similar games on occasion.

@patvanmackelberg I was hoping to have a few more levels to kind of have a better difficulty curve. But I ran out of time to work unfortunately. Thanks for the feedback! I am glad it at least feels put together. I was worried the last few hours that it wouldn't come together. Kind of built the easiest and hardest levels first then was trying to fill in the middle.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T00:52:18Z

@iozsaygi If it wasn't for the themes idea of nothing I absolutely would have gone that direction. Thank you for playing! Let me know if there is anything else you notice!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T00:57:36Z

@pedromgdo No problem. I was a bit worried that would happen. Didn't have much time for a full tutorial and so I made due with text which if I know anything about game design is text is the worst way to convey information. lol! I also wanted to add AWSD but forgot until after I had finished. Let me know if you have any other issues or questions!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T01:44:20Z

@igoreshka Thank you!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T01:59:23Z

@adam-konig The late game could have used some more balancing. That was the second thing on my list of things I wish I had more time to do. The quick play coin upgrade helps but a lot of the end game items are a bit to expensive. Thank you for playing!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T04:41:18Z

@pixelmonkey Ah that actually makes sense. I didn't catch that one. But when I read your comment I know exactly what I missed lol. Forgot to add the fade for that reset unlike the others. Thanks for playing!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T04:48:18Z

@ruby-interactive-games Thank you for playing! I think it turned out alright but there is still so much more I wish I would have had time to do. But that's the life of a dev I guess ;)

@gagouman For sure. The balancing is a bit off especially for the last few upgrades. Next time I am going to alot more time for balancing now that I have kind of a baseline.

@binarysystem That actually was in the plans. I got so far as adding the sounds pitch changing but unfortunately didn't get to the multiplier or enemies adding coins to the total. Thanks for playing!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T09:56:46Z

@aileron It was part of the original scope but I had to choose between that and sleep and tbh I love sleep a bit to much. Glad you enjoyed it!

@geoff-nagy I think I was around 30-40 upgrades total. Wanted to add some more such as backgrounds, new pickups/coins, and music tiers. Sadly they didn't make the cut. Actually most of the background code is in the game but not unlockable due to a bug I couldn't squash in time.

@hcursino Glad you enjoyed it :) Was a bit worried about people thinking that with the upgrade route I took. Still some disadvantages as I suspect the full art will be seen by few if any due to my lack of time with balancing.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T09:59:42Z

@tte-olaf Agreed. I wish I had the time. But I figured that most people would only play once so better to focus on a playable product. After this is all over I may revisit it for a few upgrades like that.

@okkolobr Glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you finish! The third level is the hardest but also very fun if you complete it.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T10:06:40Z

@appoxgames Glad you enjoyed it! That was an initial worry I had but I guess most of us here are better at working through initial bad impressions to get to the meat of a game. Bit of a relief that the responses have been generally positive.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T16:09:46Z

@sozey Gamemaker Studio 2. I find its good for this kind of rapid production. Thanks for playing!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-07T17:15:24Z

@joe-williamson I actually started to add coyote time. Unfortunately its been years since I have made a platformer and I couldn't get it to work with the way I had to do movement code with this project. It is one of the upgrades I am going to be making once the event is fully concluded. Thanks for playing!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-13T19:16:03Z

@bip I did run out of time for the endgame balancing. Next time I am going to set aside more time for that stuff for sure.

@cirno The two main things I would change are for sure the balancing and introducing the quick play coins a bit earlier. I have found most people stop just before then.

@shugor Thanks for playing! If I had the time I probably would have moved some of the upgrade sounds around for sure. I think for example the enemy death sound is the first and I think I would move it so it was after player death and the coin sound if I was to redo this.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-13T19:18:18Z

@alphapolygon Thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to play :)

@mantou Thank you for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-13T19:22:11Z

@scott-steffes I think that is mostly a problem with how easy it is to miss things in the upgrade system. The first upgrade for movement is much cheaper. The one to go left is 40. But many people missed the fact they already bought the ability to move right so in the future I will have to design my store so its much clearer. Thanks for playing!

@lombax Ah I must have an extra upgrade in there that shouldn't exist. I thought I had tested them all. Ye the double bird jump is pretty hard. I wanted to have more levels so that the curve wasn't so steep but ran out of time. So basically that level would have been the hardest one after much more time to build up your skills. Thanks for the rating and for the time you spent playing!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-13T19:26:09Z

@yaen Thanks I appreciate that. I think the BGM issue is linked with the quick play coins. Forgot to stop/check if the music was already playing for that case. It was abundant music yes. I have no talent for music but that program was pretty impressive. Just noticed I forgot to update my info to show that so I am doing that right now. I love old flash games and I will openly admit that's where I get a lot of inspiration for all my game jam games. Thanks for playing!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-13T19:38:47Z

@yaen Honestly some of the most interesting and unique games I have played have been flash games. At some point I would love to do an in-depth analysis to find why it had such a strong culture of quirky and unique experiences. Harder to find things like that now. I have some theories as to why but need to actually see if any of them are valid.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-13T21:38:44Z

@manimal Thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to give it a play. I enjoyed putting it together so its nice to see people generally enjoy it aside from a few issues I will have to fix after this is all over.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-14T01:36:04Z

@stickygames Thanks for playing! Ye the double bird jump is the hardest spot in the game. There are two strategies to it. You can bounce from one to the other or hit both at once giving you a massive jump boost. If you do the first its difficult timing wise but you have a lot longer to dodge the fire ball. If you do the second clearing the gap is simple but you have just enough time to dodge the fireball. Since the plan was a rage game it may be my favorite bit of design for the game. The plan was for upgrades to make it easier eventually but that got scrapped due to time crunch. Glad you enjoyed it!

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-14T04:11:49Z

@jezzamon Sadly I ran out of time while I was balancing which is why the second half seems less balanced. I did have plans for coin combos but only got the higher pitch sound in. As for the repetitive that is mostly because my system to handle that, quickplay coins, is introduced just after the point most people stop playing. When I do a fixed version after this is all over that will be one of the major fixes as well as a few extra levels. Thanks for playing! This being the first time I have done a solo jam or a jam less than a week has been interesting so I will for sure in the future set aside more time for balancing.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-14T21:42:39Z

@quadape That is one thing I plan on fixing after this all is over when I do my post-mortem build. Next time I will be putting more time aside for balancing as well.

Asomatous by RoastedPotatoe 2019-10-14T04:27:21Z

I love the art. I especially like the flowers glowing after obtaining the color sphere thing. Stronger use of theme then most I have played. Controls were a bit floaty but it is a jam. Wish there had been a few more puzzle elements as well beyond just needing upgrades to do things but overall a strong entry.

Now Grab The Gun! by fallcresthero 2019-10-09T06:49:27Z

Pretty fun. Biggest annoyance was the blue moving ones inability to navigate the maze. It was quite fun to try and make them shoot each other for sure. Difficult but that isn't a bad thing

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Looper by jk5000 2020-10-05T07:22:24Z

Interesting concept. Figuring out the parameters effects was an interesting test of observation and deduction. Haven't seen anything like this before.

Loop Invader by Ale 2020-10-05T04:51:18Z

Interesting concept. The tools provided are interesting and relatively unique ways to manipulate the field and try to find the target. I'm also a fan of the aesthetic you chose with. That paired with the music was oddly relaxing to sit and play for a bit.

Hell Loop by Darthdeus 2020-10-05T20:18:02Z

Lot of fun. Love the art. Especially loved getting a lot of kills with the ballista. The addition of a direct kill seemed odd when I read it but in practice it was nice for getting that one that just barely got over a trap. I could see this become something pretty interesting over time. Well done

STAMP! by Lucien Catonnet 2020-10-17T21:25:19Z

The end was unexpected and quite enjoyable. The premise with stamping the packages worked . Aesthetics were solid, love the retro feel to them, and easily readable.

Stuck in a Loop (station) by erikiene 2020-10-10T09:01:22Z

Hey a jam game based on music where the final product caused by user interaction actually sounds good! That was a surprise. The nature of the game made me think of The Witness. Could be a cool take on a similar design with areas that all create their own little songs and then mesh in a final zone in some way. I'll admit I had to cheat a bit and watch @javasaurus stream on it to solve the TV puzzle though. I got close but the color of the L in the updated version threw me off a bit. Actually the old hint in the stream is how I solved it funny enough. Cool entry

Hands on Work by jefvel 2020-10-17T21:04:02Z

Felt really polished. Loved how quickly things got hectic. Don't see a lot of the console operation style games so its always fun when one pops up. Relatable experience with everything going crazy, managing a few simple tasks that progressively get more difficult as stuff happens, and having to deal with random social interactions many of which are negative or neutral.

A Shopkeepers Predicament by Kirthos 2020-10-06T03:38:15Z

Started off interesting. Played for a while and it got to the point where nothing new was happening. Still not sure what the second bar was or if there was a reason to gain gold. Wasn't sure if there was an ending.

Stuck in a Portal by Dr_V 2020-10-05T04:25:39Z

Reminds me of some flash games I used to play in computer class back in the day. Used to a pretty big Motherload fan so I have to be careful to not spend to much time on this. lol. The energy system to get better ore gen was clever and very well done. Biggest bit of feedback would be that progression at the start is a bit slow. I also encountered one glitch where I would be placed through the portal then back using all my energy but without the chance to mine. Bit annoying when you got to wait to re-enter.

Cashier Every Day by schwede 2020-10-05T08:23:59Z

Don't miss that job. Theme is just too applicable its sad to think about. lol.

Infinite Gauntlet by oller125 2020-10-05T06:09:58Z

Basic concept is very interesting. The idea of moving units around so that the fight lasts has a lot of interesting mechanical interactions and forces the player to learn the systems. However allowing players to place units kind of breaks it. Puzzles could be bypassed just by creating a small group in a corner and allowing the rest of the field to clear itself. I think with some work making puzzles where all the pieces are there, or even a limited set of pieces to place rather than just a fairly generous turn limit, would make a very entertaining piece.

Hyperloop hell by Aterlamia 2020-10-05T17:41:41Z

Glad to see I wasn't the only one to link public transport on rails with loop. A few small bugs here and there but nothing game breaking, which is standard for a jam game. Story was intriguing. Art was impressive for the time given. Overall a good entry. I did think the text when you hide in the bathroom scrolls a bit fast. Still haven't got the whole conversation.

Mind the Gap by coderTrevor 2020-10-06T03:54:52Z

Hey a point-and-click on a subway. Glad I wasn't the only one to make the loop-subway connection. And that we chose the same genre too. lol. Obviously massively different games but still cool to see.

Cake Factory by flyingbear 2020-10-05T05:30:59Z

I love the automation genre. Been a while since I saw a game from a version of Gamemaker so old though. Wish it measured how compact you made it but it is a jam game so I assume time pressure has something to do with that not being included. Lot of fun mind bending puzzles too.

Are We There Yet? by JudgeZedd 2020-10-06T21:33:56Z

Voice over was entertaining. The crisps line was my particular favorite. Only suggestion I would really have is I wish speed mattered. As it is driving careful and slow is beneficial score wise whereas driving full speed is when its at its most fun. Given the jam and theme I understand that choice but if you do any post jam builds that is what I would recommend.

A Day in the Life by Jimanzium 2020-10-10T07:52:17Z

Mood. Lol. Nice entry. I liked how making basically any decision of having some time for yourself ended up with negative consequences. Narrative consistency. Plus the quit message was quite humorous. I think that its generally relatable. The work puzzle is simple but it kind of shows how small mistakes start happening even with simple tasks when done often and as they become rote. Something people tend to forget. Plus I'm a fan of point-and-click genre games as well

I love the view mechanic in this. Such a novel way to interact with the world. Short but well crafted. Puzzles that make sense but take some memorization. Strong aesthetic. Even enjoyed the movement despite it being a type I usually hate. Well done. Very interesting entry.

Habits by M8rix 2020-10-05T08:19:35Z

Too real. lol. Clever use of theme. Well polished. Plus the depiction of everyday life. Very interesting.

Monke Rehabilitation Center by SpacialSeasoning 2020-10-05T03:18:28Z

Love the sound design. The about page was unexpected and funny. The lopping rooms were cool but I ended up glitching out of the map once or twice. Interesting entry to be sure.

Looping Meadows by Kirbloid 2020-10-06T02:30:11Z

I like the idea of a dice game where you can change things up to get advantages. Like I set up a line of magic portals to guarantee I would take the wilderness route. Could be interesting to see this taken further. Good jam game.

Amusement Shark by No Grapes Games 2020-10-06T05:02:27Z

Interesting. Felt that shift was under used as I solved most puzzles without needing it. Couple of the levels really were challenging which I consider a good thing. Overall an solid experience.

Hamster Simulator by snowinn 2020-10-06T06:50:12Z

At its core its reminiscent of idle games. Strongest point imo is the unique graphic style you got going. The video with the art over top looks unique and very interesting. I would also move the upgrades from a pop up style menu to buttons underneath each stat so that one can keep going without needing to break the rhythm of play that is what will help retain players.

Suit Of Armor by Steffy 2020-10-10T08:27:16Z

I personally enjoyed the music and aesthetics of the entry. Art wise it reminds me of some retro titles I used to play a lot of. The movement was also very similar to that period as well. The music helped drive home a sense of stress and reinforced the core game concept and setting. While I think it lacks some in the gameplay department, that makes sense given the nature of the development. Jams are always fun with family. Done a few with my little brother as well. Hope you guys had fun and participate in more jams together.

Cluck of the Time Egg by Yeomsley 2020-10-05T03:50:41Z

Overall a fun take on the theme. I love the progress by knowledge type games. Exploring and optimizing the path to try and finish quickly is a satisfying core game loop. Biggest issue I see is with the collisions. Not sure what engine this was but a lot of engines let you adjust the collision masks in some way. Lowering it to be the bottom half of the player would help players move through some tight passages and feel more like other games with the same views. Good work

Hackermon - Evil Edition by Le Don 2020-10-17T20:56:11Z

Cool concept. Easily expanded upon. Puzzles could get pretty interesting. The way you had it set up to select different parts of code was easy to use. I did wish that more parts that were selected could be interacted with. I also think that the controls could be simplified. Make WASD and Arrows work the same, interact and space and Enter the same, etc... just based on the context of what the player is doing as none of them ever had to be used at the same time to make the game play the way it did. The aesthetic was classic, love GB styled games.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T03:36:04Z

@gamefriend Sorry about that. Might have it mixed too loud.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T03:37:38Z

@jacob-bernard its one of three possible endings. I call it the Bad ending but realistically none are "Good". Glad you enjoyed it.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T03:53:38Z

@ale That is actually the ending where you kill the bomber and no one else. Got to dispose of the evidence. Its the closest to a "Good" ending I had time for.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T03:54:53Z

@dr-v Which ending did you get? There are actually three. Thank you for the feedback

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T04:28:34Z

@dr-v That would be one of the survivors getting revenge for you killing an innocent. Its the middle ground ending. There is a bit leading up to it where the player character is standing there and gets pushed. It moves a bit to quick though so its easy to miss. Should've made it a bit longer so it was clearer. Thanks for playing

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T17:11:42Z

@chickencastle Thanks for the feedback. I'll take the puzzle issue into consideration if I do a post jam build. Glad you enjoyed your time with it

@aterlamia I think at the very least it help me stay consistent for a cohesive look. Was an interesting challenge to be sure. Thanks for the feedback!

@m8rix Lol. One of my favorite text hints. Probably the most like retro point-and-clicks. Glad you enjoyed the puzzles

@pedrohph Yeah I came up with the reason just before the end. A Time Bomb. A bomb that blows up time. Kind of a play on words. But I didn't have much time at that point so its a little rushed and unclear. I'm sure Hammond, the orc, would be glad to hear you like the name he chose.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T18:24:29Z

@lukebandy So the whole game is with your mouse. If you put your cursor over the ticks you'll notice the bar on screen go down. The crosses move it back up. Goal is to bring it all the way down. Sorry the game doesn't explain much. Or was it the second puzzle with the four colors of dots? If so then you just have to connect them. Clicking on them and clicking on the grid will expand them to that point.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T18:53:39Z

@darthdeus Hm this is the first report of that. Did it give an error?

@dharby Thanks  Always been more on the tech side of game development. Been trying to learn a bit here and there about the art side though. To help communicate with artists on my team I work with better and figure out how to give good feedback on the art.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T19:08:39Z

@mauricioscherer Appreciate it  Doesn't have as novel a hook as your entry but I had fun doing it. I do need to work out some communication stuff about it if I do a post jam build though. Few hiccups here and there I missed in testing it seems.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T20:03:54Z

@darthdeus No problem  At least its working now. At least I know where to look roughly and I'll see if I can get it to pop. Seems rare enough at least that it shouldn't affect too much.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-06T02:37:24Z

@schraf If you put your cursor over the ticks you’ll notice the bar on screen go down. The crosses move it back up. Goal is to bring it all the way down. Tried to stick to standard visual language as much as possible but the game doesn't explain as much as I would like.

@zackavelli That was a fun little Easter Egg to code in. I considered adding keyboard at one point but decided I wanted to stay true to the retro point-and-click. And I ran low on the time I personally had so I just had to finish before I could test anything more like an optional setting or something.

@indivicivet I'll look into it. I had it crash like that once but I just assumed it was because I was running a fairly heavy simulation in the background. Thanks for letting me know.

@kirbloid Glad you enjoyed it  Spent a decent amount of time on them. Aside from the other sisters. But they were designed to be three of a kind as it were.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-06T05:03:47Z

@cyphyrgriffon lol glad you enjoyed it. Always thought it was annoying in point-and-clicks when they would give you a sword or something and the characters morals held you back. Thanks for the kind words

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-06T21:20:01Z

@codertrevor Well that's a new one. I'll have to see if I can reproduce that. lol. Going to have to look into that. The code change was part of a planned mini game that ended up being scrapped. Glad you enjoyed it

@judgezedd Glad you enjoyed it  Was a fun challenge to build.

@lelulagames At that point you need to try and figure out the time bomber by killing the other characters with the screwdriver. There are several different approaches that will net different endings depending on how many you off. I probably should have included at least one more flavor text to indicate the screwdrivers alternate use because the first is miss-able as I recently found out.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-07T19:36:35Z

@11thpenguin I'm sure you were able to really get a feel for the art then. lol. I can only imagine art drawn at 22*22 taken to that size. Glad you enjoyed it

@layne-stokes Your feedback is appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the various endings

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-10T07:27:35Z

@harmadillo I tend to design harder games. Got similar feedback on all my jam games. Might need to look into the souls-like genre for my next big project  That ending could have been made clearer. The idea was to get rid of the evidence. Unfortunately I ran out of time before I could have anyone test that ending so it ended up a bit unclear.

@obi-one Sorry about that. Should have mixed it down a bit more. I forget the laptop I work on has quieter speakers. Glad you enjoyed the puzzles.

@schwede I actually considered making Killer the mouse the bomber at one point  But I thought it would be a bit too arbitrary and felt many might not find the ending. Glad you enjoyed it

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-10T12:19:43Z

@ctpeepee Appreciate it! By the way you or your partner got a twitter? I tweeted out about your game and like to @ those devs that made it.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-17T20:38:10Z

@le-don Thanks for the feedback  Probably should have thought of the escape key thing :flushed:

Waves Industrial by Wolfier 2020-10-10T08:10:48Z

Love the way the rain looks. Big fan of the automation genre. Obviously limited by the nature of it being a Ludum title but its got good bones. Always interested in seeing this stuff get taken further post-jam.

Stuck On The Orbit by Corporation 2020-10-05T20:02:04Z

Interesting game. Took a few tries before I figured out how to win but overall worth the time I spent. Could use some UI polish here and there but it is a jam game so that is not out of the ordinary. Good job

Stuck On The Orbit by Corporation 2020-10-05T20:08:53Z

@corporation I would just remove purchased upgrades from the list. With the constant threat of danger speed is essential and scrolling through or past upgrades I have is just extra time. I would also allow players to click out by clicking outside the menu. If you plan a post jam build that is what I would do.

Stuck On The Orbit by Corporation 2020-10-05T20:22:52Z

Happy to help  If you end up doing a post jam build let me know.

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-06T02:09:33Z

Simple. Love how the design progresses the difficulty naturally. Controls took a minute to get used to but felt good to use.

The Titan's grave by BadPiggy 2020-10-05T19:17:02Z

Here from the Making Games Together Server. Pretty cool entry. I love the art style especially. Consistent, clear, and appealing. Each stage offered a different challenge and the final form did well at being a test of all the skills.

Grind by ChickenCastle 2020-10-05T17:49:52Z

Another day another dollar. Lol. Nice take on the theme. Fetch Dave. Me and all the homies hate Dave. Simple and quick to pick up and feels hectic enough to be sure. Really enjoyed the characters art too.

Cotton Candy Dream by LelulaGames 2020-10-06T05:58:16Z

Hey saw this over on Making Games Together and now it pops up on my page. Figured I would give it a go. I see several suggestions I think could make this gold. I kind of want to see a mode where it measures the fastest speed or the highest height reached by the players. What you have is already a lot of emergent fun so leaning into that would be awesome.

Bloop by Harmadillo 2020-10-10T07:21:24Z

Don't see a lot of chess puzzles games. That's for sure. Intro levels are well laid out and teach players the mechanics in a very natural way. Would be nice to see this pushed further, post jam naturally, as most of the puzzles are fairly linear and don't push the player to think in any new way. Just something to keep in mind as a design goal if you want to take this further afterward.

The Song of Spiral Sam by Ashley Koett 2020-10-05T07:29:14Z

Very surreal experience you've crafted. Love how some of the characters still have little white bits around where they were cut out. Really sells the aesthetic. I wouldn't mind seeing something longer in this style.

Slime Wrangler by Zackavelli 2020-10-05T07:13:31Z

I like the slime graphics. The chains were a bit frustrating at times. Trying to close a loop and hitting near the end and having it shatter was frustrating as the game encourages fast play. However I chalk that up to jam limits. The core concept was strong. The gameplay loop was short, challenging, and had some unique challenges.

Blobs by GameFriend 2020-10-05T04:38:43Z

Feels like a good base for a fun little hyper casual. I like the loop movement for a start but I personally would change the speed upgrade, which really felt detrimental, to more of a friction upgrade to increase the control players have. Fun entry

You Stuck Bro? by Mridul360 2020-10-05T06:56:10Z

I like the aesthetic. Had some solid bits of polish, especially the dash trail. The sound design was also classic and fit perfectly with your aesthetic. I did manage to dash through a red door and had to backtrack but that was minor and didn't effect my view on the gameplay.

Creatures of the Sky by WiredSound 2020-10-05T08:35:46Z

Love the retro look and feel. Very bleak outlook but that isn't a bad thing.

Hudson by Dharby 2020-10-05T19:05:47Z

The UI being part of the actual game rather than just indicators was novel. Fun infinite wave game. Having to defend the health while also getting the gems into the upgrade slots was a fun little risk reward. Plus one bit is always a win in my book.

Loopbot by ctpeepee 2020-10-10T07:43:17Z

The core concept is very strong. Gameplay was mostly entertaining with some frustrating hiccups as is the nature of a jam game. If you take this further post jam I would focus on primarily making the beats the player press feel like its truly adding to the song. Obviously for a jam that is a lot to ask but as a post-jam game concept that is where I would focus. Very unique hook too.

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-06T06:19:17Z

Tight loop experience. Was fun to learn the optimal path over a few runs. The dialog was enjoyable and often humorous. Art was stylistic and mostly consistent.

Survive One Day by ilbini 2020-10-05T05:13:55Z

12 Mondays. Love the alarm clock. I mean I hate the sound but its perfect. Drives that Monday feel. Also a fan of the graphics, especially the main character.

LooperJumper by kidbiti 2020-10-06T05:49:29Z

glith.PNG

I think I found a glitch lol. The reset button seems to spawn the scientist and portal but doesn't check or clear existing ones. Jam glitches aside, its a normal thing, the game has its merits. The art is simple and attractive. The goal is challenging but not impossible. The controls are a bit difficult to use but not game breakingly so.

Among The Stars by Layne Stokes 2020-10-05T08:41:32Z

Little difficult to get the perspective down but once you do it's a very unique entry in the genre. Definitely forces players to think differently then with others in that niche .

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05T03:04:02Z

Fun little experience. More difficult then it looks but satisfying enough to keep from being frustrating. I am a fan of the minimalist art approach. Had one time where I landed in what would be the green circle before I got all the rings and it did restart me. Not sure if that was intentional. Overall a very strong entry.

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-05T05:36:07Z

I figured it was that. Just missed and went a bit too far and was surprised when it didn't let me use it like a normal loop to go back one. I do think coloring the circle before all rings are collected to indicate it doesn't act like a normal loop would be a nice feature. Just so it's clear its behavior is different.

for egg in basket by indivicivet 2020-10-05T07:55:14Z

Don't think I can beat it. But it is so much fun. It gets frantic fast. lol. Got lucky and got two button mash quests in a row. Swear I almost broke my keyboard. This is probably the most solid entry I have played to this point.

Gravity Loop by Jacob Bernard 2020-10-05T04:45:10Z

Took me a minute to figure out the goal but once I got over that it was a very solid and interesting game. The graphics were well done and it was a cool aesthetic. Well done.

BoreOut! by HOOLOP 2020-10-07T20:30:13Z

Very fun. The sound design was top tier. I did wish that the managers were more clearly different as I sometimes had trouble telling them apart. I figured out where they were eventually but more than once I hit one only for it to be a manager. Definitely one of the funnest games of the jam I've played so far though. I had almost as much fun banning random items, like chairs and monitors, and seeing how the environment changed to compensate. The boxes and the paper taped to the wall replacements were hilarious.

False awakening by Robean 2020-10-05T06:48:20Z

Very creepy. Did a pretty good job of building atmosphere. I enjoyed most of the artwork, especially as it progressed and rooms like the bathroom got creepier or the picture on the wall. The picture I think may be the strongest set piece I experianced. The loop mechanic was interesting, seeing the changes and challenges. I did run into a few issues. When picking up the key before the wall attacks it's possible to get the key without triggering the wall. This means I made it out to a locked door and had to backtrack to activate the wall. Other issue is when the thing fell from the ceiling, the sudden sound did give me quite a jumpscare by the way, I fell into the hole and I was stuck staring at the hallway.

Clockmaker by Tristan Mansfield 2020-10-06T05:31:37Z

Always been a fan of the clockwork aesthetic. Big reason I like Steampunk. Gears have always fascinated me. Game played well. Controls were simple and felt good. Graphics were some of the most polished I've seen. Puzzle difficulty progression was well designed.

Saint Uck by 11thPenguin 2020-10-07T19:47:37Z

Concept is interesting. With some design work I think you got a fun little mobile project on your hands. I think you also met your design goal of fulfilling the theme in a non-standard way.

NPCorp by antoine TEIL 2020-10-05T18:48:49Z

Love the intro cutscene. Took me a few tries before I was able to start scoring points but once I got a rhythm going I was able to do alright. I also appreciate the LoZ reference with the hero and the pots.
