LD46 — Keep it alive

Tumble Baby by 01010111 2020-04-21T03:27:44Z

Such an impressive idea and execution. I did get stuck at one point not knowing how to get to the bear inside the bushes. However its really nicely polished, and such a great concept.

My Friend Phil by Conroy 2020-04-21T06:23:59Z

I love the concept, and the fish throwing mechanic felt great and really natural for me. I found the wall jump insanely difficult, i think having to alternate directional key presses whilst also holding on to the wall and pressing space to jump is pretty tricky. It took me ages to finish the first level, and unfortunately the first big wall slide on level 2 was almost impossible for me. I only managed to get past it 3 times, and on all of those times i died on the last jump to the finish (where that dude is running on the tiny platform)

I really really wanted to beat it, and I tried for ages. I think at a certain point though it got a bit frustrating having to wait for the death animation, and dealing with the wall slide.

I did have a lot of fun though, and freaking love the fish throwing, and the graphics (water is amazing)

Egg Hero by Firebelley 2020-04-21T10:18:07Z

Awesome mechanic, really fun to fly around with punches. Really cool graphics too! I did find that the difficulty went in a direction I wasn't expecting in level 2, when the egg moved to places I hadn't been to yet, which always ended up with me failing the first time it moved, then beating that section, then it would move again to a new part of the map and I would fail because it would get there before I discovered where it was going.

Ice Ice Baby by Fabrizio Spadaro 2020-04-21T07:11:28Z

Nice game, at first i thought the cube was a little slow but then i worked out that you get faster as you melt. Couldn't beat the platformer section though :P

Balanced Parenting by Spaghetti 2020-04-21T10:41:05Z

Haha Awesome work! Simple and fun trying to keep that little guy on the platform. I also experience the level 42 bug, was trying to go for the big 100 hoping for some kind of secret payoff  Great job getting your first game out there!

MELT by mmatt_ugh 2020-04-21T03:17:29Z

Beautiful concept, nice controls, atmospheric music, simple and effective design. Really really fun. Great work!

Defend The Bubble by Josh Gangl 2020-04-21T03:00:34Z

Nice concept :) I like how the little guy going to eat the corpses add difficulty. Ending made me giggle too :P

Planets wars by raguel 2020-04-21T10:01:36Z

Really nice art, simple concept and the audio cues were really helpful for enemies that spawn off screen.

Guardy_Bird by Matootsy 2020-04-21T09:54:42Z

This is so sweet. At first I thought it was really brutal because my tree caught fire, but on my second go around I got into this surreal sense of protectiveness of my 'nest'. Found my self warped into the mind of the mother while i repeatedly cleaned the garbage away from my pristine tree over and over. The controls were a little hard to get used to, and it took me a little while to work out that i could grab the fruit. This is a really nice concept though, and i really enjoyed myself. Awesome job

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-04-21T10:25:30Z

Graphics were awesome. Simple puzzle mechanic in a nice aesthetic style. I tend to find that isometric perspective games with normal arrow key movement is pretty hard for my brain to translate, also I sometimes ran into the unresponsive key pressed like someone else mentioned. Nice game! I appreciated the free memes

Keep the flame alive (adventures of an arsonist) by Llewellyn and Michael 2020-04-21T10:48:27Z

Cool game. Flame guy moves really fast which was fun. I often found myself wishing that the level design encouraged me more to leap over enemies with great speed, but I often found that some ledged and cliffs would deliberately slow me down when all I wanted to do was run real fast!

Günther by Massassen 2020-04-21T10:33:10Z

Sweet idea. It took me a while to work out what I was supposed to do though :P At first I spent about 60 seconds standing on the ice trying to not have it tip over, and jumping over orca fins, before i realised that I could dive down and eat fish. Then it took me another few minute to work out that I had to take the fish back to the ice

Eggsploration by ChickenCastle 2020-04-21T11:59:41Z

@samuel-hollywood-summers Yeah we did notice unfortunately that in some cases there were framing issues with some screen sizes :( Appreciate all your feedback, really helpful :)

Rolling Chicken TD by RodPraet 2020-04-21T09:47:35Z

Nice one, as some others said, awesome variety of enemies and towers. There are so many different upgrades and tactics. My only criticism would be that I wish I had more time between waves to analyse which turrets to upgrade, because I was mostly just spam upgrading to see what everything did. Maybe an intermediary menu between waves to choose upgrades? Awesome game, played it start to finish

Prince of Al Harrah by dmarku 2020-04-21T03:41:40Z

Cool concept. I really like the way the levels drop in and out, and I can see the fire and water djin having some cool animation potential. I was struggled to fully understand how the fire was spreading until about 4 levels in, and I also found it difficult to use horizontal and vertical inputs on a diagonal game board. Also after i finished some levels, the game just stopped, and i had to restart. Really cool idea, nice one. :)

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Looper by jk5000 2020-10-05T12:34:20Z

Nice visuals and audio, plus a cool and unique concept, I really like it! I think as others have said, some clarity or direction on the parameters you are changing would help I think. I got to a point where I was blindly changing values because at times the impact of the change was so small that I couldn't really tell what I was changing. Really nice submission, great job!

Dodge Da Beat by crazyrems 2020-10-05T12:27:30Z

Hey nice submission :) I really like the idea of spinning on a record haha, and the music that went with it really suited the vibe I think. I kind of felt like I was moving so slow that my only option was to jump over and over again. I feel like it could be fun if I could move faster and manoeuvre my way through the obstacles as well as jump when I need to. Also didn't notice anything that I would need to slide under? Anyway cool game!

Fort Loop by deepnight 2020-10-05T02:21:44Z

The graphics you've made are really good! Love the aesthetic! Unfortunately I couldn't work out how to get down the ladder in the first room :(

Fort Loop by deepnight 2020-10-05T11:02:34Z

@deepnight replayed and rerated Mechanics felt smooth, perhaps a little slow moving. In particular the ladder climbing was a little slow I felt. I actually couldn't make it past i think it's the 3rd or 4th level, where the castle resets. I couldn't really work out what I was supposed to do. Submission feels polished though in terms of aesthetic and mechanically, Nice work!

Endless Ocean Cleanup by Bloham 2020-10-05T11:51:39Z

I think there might be an issue with the screen size. After a while I realised that there are UI elements at the bottom that are only visible in full screen. Also I found that the boat controls took me a while to fully understand. I worked out that you can tap 'W' or 'S' multiple times to quickly increase or decrease speed, which helped a lot. It might be worth putting some extra words in the jam description to further explain the controls as well as key points of interest, like where to exchange cargo for fuel. Nice submission! Well done raising awareness, it's a good use of the theme because it's an endless job that needs doing.

Beat Farm by Andrfw 2020-10-04T22:38:18Z

Wow such a cool concept! So many possibilities! I love how the mood of the game changes as you keep playing and building your sound. I think you might benefit from having the loop be smaller at the start and grow larger as you progress. I found myself a little overwhelmed at the beginning with how much space there was to loop, and how many different items were available. Nice job!

Loading: The Game by Wakobu 2020-10-07T09:44:08Z

Great little game :D The only issue was that I waited like 5 minutes NOT pressing the power button because I thought it was a test lol. Nice work!

Hyperloop hell by Aterlamia 2020-10-06T07:46:00Z

Really cool game! I liked the premise of the story and the exploration involved. Loved finding where that guy was hiding haha! the shoes! lol I did find the font very hard to read, and the blue text was almost impossible for me to read without squinting. I think for a story driven game like this the font needs to be super legible, but I would have used the font you used for headings and tooltips etc. Great job!

a Damsel a Day by alec 2020-10-04T22:59:40Z

Simple and effective. Great implementation of the theme. Really nice art. Made it to 23 days. I imagine a leader board would go well with a game like this. Well done!

Mobius by testuser 2020-10-05T08:32:16Z

This was really cool! Very reminiscent of the 'Portal' games. Very nice execution of the theme.

I found myself getting disoriented at times without any major landmarks, and it took me a while actually to realise the infinity aspect of the levels. The first level in particular took me a while to work out because i was just following myself for quite a long time haha!

Great work!

Stuck in a Loop by AdroitConceptions 2020-10-05T12:54:00Z

Hehe, nice literal take on the theme. For something that has very little in terms of mechanics and gameplay, I spent a surprisingly long time playing around with the momentum and the ball and loop to see if I could get it to do a full circle. I could not :( Well done getting people so engaged in such a simple thing :D

Spinnerets by Jeremy Ryan 2020-10-05T09:42:01Z

Wow this was really good! The multiplayer aspect was so simple that it was easy to get someone else involved to play a few rounds. The simplicity is just so sweet, I love it so much. Really nice job. As others have said this would make a great switch title.

One Can Do! by EvoGenGames 2020-10-06T09:46:25Z

Great job raising awareness for something you care about, video games are such a great platform for communicating ideas, nice one :)

One Can Do! by EvoGenGames 2020-10-06T09:46:29Z

Great job raising awareness for something you care about, video games are such a great platform for communicating ideas, nice one :)

Planet Externality by 2bam 2020-10-05T11:18:44Z

Haha this one is wacky for sure :D The rewind mechanic on the path is pretty cool. It was especially cool to play for a while putting out the fires, and then rewind all the way back putting out more fires on your way back. Nice work!

Under The Moon by Albuquerque 2020-10-06T09:33:58Z

Nice one! really liked the art work, in particular the moon

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-06T11:09:37Z

Wow the environment and world building in this game is fantastic, really well done! The mechanics are really cool too, I like the way you need to die in some situations to progress! I think that the level design could have been a bit more forgiving in terms of difficulty over time. That first area with the shooting spike was a gateway that needed to be passed every time you wanted to get any further in the game, and navigating some of those spike when you couldn't really see them from the camera angle sometimes felt unfair when they hit you. Still though this is a great submission, great work!

while(true) by TomekS 2020-10-05T14:11:46Z

I like games like this that represent a game loop mechanic. The commands were easy to remember and get used to, and I found myself getting into a kind of zen state as I parsed the map while executing commands quite quickly to get to the end tile in one go. Really nice work!

Programmer Nightmare by Cary Stanley 2020-10-05T02:04:28Z

Haha tabs vs spaces, nice. I got confused when he hated both answers, took me a while to come back for the 'both'. I then got stuck at 'true { console.log }'. I think maybe some instructions or how to play details in the submission description would be really helpful. Nice work!

SPACE TAXI by Radzios 2020-10-05T10:40:59Z

I like the placing of the items to block the path of your previous attempts It did take me some time to work out at what point you place items, and how to rotate. I didn't realise that you had to click and hold and then press R. Nice work on this :)

Need More Space by wheatleyscience 2020-10-06T08:38:51Z

Great submission, loved the planet hopping and the art style was very good. The gradual introduction of new elements was a good addition too, it's a nice way to introduce the player to the rules. I think the pickup animation could have been a little faster to match up with the snappyness of the rest of the controls. Nice work!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-06T07:52:09Z

Very cool idea, really took me back to the days of pop-ups though. Very cool was progression mechanic too. I liked that I couldn't just mindlessly close them because I had to pay attention to what they were doing. Great job!

Featherfall by armytag 2020-10-07T09:16:31Z

This is a really nice little game. I really liked that the level looped around both horizontally and vertically, that's a nice touch

Inside the Planet by victor_reiner 2020-10-07T11:27:34Z

Really impressive gameplay and beautiful art. Amazing you put this together in 73 hours, so good! I think maybe the order of the levels wasn't quite right. I found the 2nd level insanely more difficult than the first, and then the third was far less challenging than the 2nd. For me it ended up being far too difficult to complete, but i really liked your concept, and your artwork. Really nice job!

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T11:42:00Z

I'm not exactly sure if I was going about it the right way, but I managed to find the killer and enter the code. I wasn't really sure how to proceed after that point. Like many others I had iterations where I killed a lot of people. Also having to redo that first door puzzle became a little tedious eventually. I did play this for a while though, it was fun to trying to find the killer and work out how to interact with the world. Nice one :)

Meltdown Countdown by LukeDJ 2020-10-06T10:49:46Z

Wow, this was just great. I played this for a long time trying to work it out and I got there in the end! The art is just awesome, and the character animation is quite cute and funny. The movement was smooth and seemed polished. It was insanely difficult for me to work out the lever minigame, took me a very very long time. Once I finally figured it out though I was able to beat the game JUST in time. I think this is an amazing game and has so much potential. I think the pick up/use item controls for PC were a little awkward between 'space' and 'e', since I usually asociate spacebar with a jump action it took me a while to get used to picking up with it. All around great submission, this was seriously good!

Looping Days by ThomasEsc 2020-10-05T12:06:11Z

Wow your graphics are incredible! The way you did the opening and closing of rooms was really really nice. I think that gameplay wise you should think about ways you could motivate the player to keep going (although I realise the irony that in lockdown it's hard to find reasons to keep going day to day). I think that a running score, or maybe 'needs' bars or a schedule rather than simply one task after the other. At the moment the main gameplay loop is just going up and down the elevator doing different tasks. I feel you could add some real gravity to the game by allowing the player to chose what they want to do and balance their needs/work/health etc. Again I'm so impressed by those graphics, and I think you've got an amazing foundation here to work with, the possibilities are endless! Nice one!

The Loop Collection by Geegaz 2020-10-07T09:37:23Z

Such a great concept! using the circle to create three distinct minigames is really clever! My favourite was the first, puts such a unique spin on pong, very addictive! Great job!

Stranger by Julius Vander Arend 2020-10-05T13:28:15Z

The mood and aesthetic really got me sucked in quite quickly. It felt very spooky from the get go and it really immersed me, well done! I think that you could improve the portal placement a lot with just a crosshair or something in the center so that I can see where I'm going to place it, since having to guess made it a bit hard to navigate around. Great submission!

Break the Cycle by Nate Wert 2020-10-05T13:09:49Z

Nice mechanic, I like the scrolling circle platform level. The life cycle is a nice take on the 'loop' aspect of the theme too. I think you probably could have made the spikes a bit clearer, I didn't even notice them on my first run. Good job!

We need to talk by bereg 2020-10-06T08:21:30Z

I like that there is a literal and metaphorical aspect to your take on the theme. It took me some time to understand the mechanical aspects of the game like playing cards or selecting dialogue options. Really good submission, i liked it!

Eternal Run by kovalok 2020-10-07T10:42:27Z

I'm not sure if I was just unlucky or bad at this, but i felt like I just got completely swamped with zombies from the moment I started :( They are faster than me, attack faster and swarm on me before I can even get a lap in haha I did manage to get one power up which was sweet, but then the zombies weren't spawning lol Cool game though, like the concept. It's a great implementation of the theme! :D

Grind by ChickenCastle 2020-10-05T12:09:23Z

@thecakeconsortium ahaha, yeah so I actually noticed that you could get blocked in the room by NPC's and at first I was thinking I've got to fix that... but then I thought you know what, I've absolutely been held back in meetings by people talking about random things to me and making me late to other things.. i'm leaving it in :D :P

League of Ultranormal Detectives by Ghuyajil 2020-10-07T10:34:35Z

Hey that was such a good submission! a lot of content for 48 hours that's amazing! Voice over was a really nice touch too, you set such a good mood. The photo taking was a really fun mechanic to play around with. Though sometimes I honestly wasn't really sure what 'ultranormal' stuff i was seeing in the photos. I ended up just clicking them and the story just progressed even though I didn't see anything in the photo. Seriously good job!

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-05T10:00:06Z

Really really cool game. Really love how it feels and the sort of rhythmic hum you get into while you're playing. Well done!

The final loop by IndieQuest 2020-10-06T09:40:03Z

Nice loop tower placement mechanic, very cool and interesting! Great job!

Stuck in a Loo by Xenon27 2020-10-05T13:10:05Z

Ahahah such a great twist on the theme, genius! Very funny and clever. Mechanically, as others have said, it felt so accurate. The 'shuffle' from side to side like a person in a loo. So good! Something I'd consider adding would be a running score, high score across all your runs, or even an online leaderboard would be awesome for something like this. Nice work! Great entry!

The Death Loop by droei 2020-10-07T09:09:03Z

Nice submission, death loop concept is cool. I did wish I didn't have to go through that menu every time though. Great job :)

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-06T10:10:00Z

Very fun and funny concept. Nice work! I think you could afford to speed up the dance moves a little, make it feel like you're really dancing to a beat. Great game!

GHOST FROM JAIL by Gilad Bar Ilan 2020-10-05T14:05:39Z

Really great first COMPO entry! It's my first compo too so well done :) When I first started I got distracted by the teleport ability and forgot that you could move with WASD, so I thought it was really hard. Once I worked out I could move though things got a lot simpler and I really enjoyed beating all the ghosts :)

A Long Night At Work by jmattspartacus 2020-10-05T02:25:09Z

It's cool to see a full 3D puzzler. Very reminiscent of Portal. There was a bit of clunkyness with the picking up and putting down of the objects, which made it difficult to solve the puzzles. I ended up getting suck on I think the 3rd room because every time I put the object down it would snap back to where it came from. Nice work though :)

It Makes Plants... by Aaron Smith 2020-10-07T10:52:14Z

Hey really cool game! such a cute concept, almost Wall-E like. I had to look through the comments to find out about the vacuum bug. Seems to only effect the first level I think. But I had a lot of fun with this! I love that you can blend trees oo that just hits my farming sim game sweet spot! Nice one!

The Loop Planet by TheCakeConsortium 2020-10-05T12:19:45Z

This is a really good first jam entry. It's easy to bite off more than you can chew when you're excited. You made something playable and reasonably easy to get started with, which is a great success for your first jam. It was cool exploring the different environments and finding new locations. The link mechanic was really cool and I wish I could have explored it more. Unfortunately I couldn't work out how to get more links. Oh also I really like your multi-biome ring planet idea, very cool. Nice work!

Time Wizard by DracoSense 2020-10-05T12:44:28Z

Hey, sorry I wasn't able to really play because the game threw an null ref exception whenever I would try to charge an ability. 2020-10-05 23_42_38-.png I hope this helps!

Endless Void by FireGamer3 2020-10-06T09:59:36Z

Character movement was good, very easy to navigate around. This probably is what makes it so easy to avoid being hit, as well as the rapid rate of fire. You could possibly add a very short cooldown on each shot to prevent bullet spamming. Nice game!

Looped Fellas by BukkakeTears 2020-10-06T07:28:30Z

Haha nice game! good art and sound, the mood was cohesive and consistent. I like it great job :)
