Hey nice submission :) I really like the idea of spinning on a record haha, and the music that went with it really suited the vibe I think. I kind of felt like I was moving so slow that my only option was to jump over and over again. I feel like it could be fun if I could move faster and manoeuvre my way through the obstacles as well as jump when I need to. Also didn't notice anything that I would need to slide under? Anyway cool game!

@chickencastle I’m glad you tried it so early in the period of ratings!

The physics in that game were tricky, lots of bugs have been introduced because the floor is spinning I had to make compromises. But sure it is perfectible.

As for the obstacles you slide under, there’s a bug that prevent them to spawn, they should be in the post-compo version.

Funky, nice atmosphere :) It's a bit easy to play (I couldn't lose until I intentionally went on the red stuff). I don't know if things could speed up the longer you survive? Fun and chill, nice job :)

lombax 2020-10-08 22:18

hihi. realy fun take on the theme. is the speed abit low on the player?, i couldnt survive unless i constantly jumped?

cg-fred 2020-10-12 20:51

Survived 375 beats, that's pretty good :) After bringing out my gamepad the game got pretty easy and the controls was nice. I would have loved a little bit higher pace and more variation of the obstacles but very nice implemented game and fits the theme very nicely. Well done!

Nice submission! I like the idea.

The camera position was a little awkward sometimes, make it a little hard to see what was coming.

Great little game! I liked the art style, and fun to play.

capt-theo 2020-10-12 22:02

Simple enjoyable game, I didn't realized that you can slide under, so I've tried to jump hurdles. Physics are ok, but camera could be improved to be more attached to character. Good luck

Made it to 444 beats. This game gets tough when you get those red platforms showing up. I will say that games like this one are the reason why I love game jams. What a cool concept and it definitely was fun to play. I think that this would be a very cool part of a larger game and the music was pretty cool too. Good job!

Fun little game, took a bit too long for red objects to spawn. Loved the music. Camera needs some work.

cedric86 2020-10-18 21:04

The camera position felt a little awkward but aside from that it's very fun to play. As soon as the red platforms show up it becomes a lot more difficult because before then you can just jump over pretty much everything. The slide function would have been more useful if the gates you had to slide under where higher so you could not just jump over them. Overall a good time. Great entry. Intresting concept and good music.

I really loved the concept, great take on the theme! I had fun but felt like it was a bit too easy. It would've been great if the record started slowly started spinning faster over time and the music sped up to match it. Additionally, it would be cool if you replaced the realistic skating themed obstacles with music notes and symbols; it would be fun to grind on glissandos and avoid quarter rests, and a double bar line could represent the end of a song/level. You could also make some obstacles "scratch the disc" and send you back a little bit instead of causing you to use a life. Finally, I think some disco/club style lighting with a dark background would really fit the theme of the game and represent the mood better. I'd like to see a post-jam version with multiple songs/levels that you can play through!

Nice game. Reminded me of Jet Set Radio, which actually had a level like this where you were skating on a huge record.

@mhm32167 @cg-fred @lombax I also found the game a bit too easy. I could have added more difficulty over time, but some found it a bit harder. Not everyone is equal on playing 3D platformers and I wanted to make my game more accessible.

@adjo @capt-theo @thooom @cedric86 I wanted the camera to not be constantly behind the player and make it a bit more 'dynamic', showing the back or the front depending on if the player was struggling dodging the obstacles. I guess it’s more confusing than anything else.

@plasmonic @sop-the-turtle @dans17 I’m glad you liked the game. I also wanted to add more things but also felt the need to focus the gameplay on a single concept. Now I’m almost satisfied of the riding, but the jumping is still a bit off.

@levidsmith That is a total homage to Jet Set Radio 😇 The main character is vastly inspired of Beat and that final boss on the giant vinyl and the devil track still resonates in me. I have been influenced by this game _a bit_.

I was mainly focused on the overall feeling of the game and I think I achieved that by putting the right amount of work on logic, 3D models, animations, sounds and music. Thank you all.

The best entry I've seen that worked on the "you're traveling in a loop" idea and rollerblading on a record is a really nice thematic addition that makes it stand out. The platforming felt great too.

betovf 2020-10-24 17:38

Nice game! I really like the smooth animations. As others have mentioned, the camera could be improve because sometimes you lose field of view.
