LD26 — Minimalism

tequilaJumper by mort96 2013-05-10T00:15:00

The links aren't working for me :/

This is not a minimalist game by Volute 2013-05-05T18:59:00

This is the best game I've seen for this competition yet!

Truth Only by OrangeeZ 2013-05-08T01:34:00

Nice game! But you should be able to change between full-screen and windowed in the pause screen because I was playing full-screen and then accidentally exited it, and couldn't get back to full-screen without restarting the game.

Potato Dungeon by _Rilem 2013-05-05T19:37:00

Incredibly original and fun game-play!

(R,G,B) by KilledByAPixel 2013-05-05T20:29:00

Amazing graphics and frustratingly difficult.

ClickStory by ComicSans 2013-05-11T22:56:00

Very nice idea but hard to think of exactly what to say. Maybe a list of possible commands would help.

The Minimalist by Dans17 2013-05-09T02:55:00

Sorry that the Scratch website is down! I hope you return to play it later.

The Minimalist by Dans17 2013-05-09T23:57:00

Scratch is back up.

You Must Escape by GertJohnny 2013-05-20T23:16:00

I loved this game. I just think that to make it more difficult, the enemies should move faster because you can easily outrun them, meaning you don't really need the shift key.

Hard Puzzle by scheurneus 2013-05-02T04:25:00

Good idea, but I think it would be more interesting if there were more factors in the game to make it challenging.

Balls Balls Balls by matthias_zarzecki 2013-05-11T20:32:00

I think if you had to complete each level in a certain amount of clicks instead of counting clicks throughout the whole game it would be more fun. Also, there is a glitch (web version) where if you refresh the page, it saves what level you were on but it resets your clicks.

ProductionVille by Blinked 2013-05-02T04:18:00

Nice game for only being made in 48 hours! I got a little frustrated however with how slow it is to build roads. You should be able to hold down the mouse and make a long road faster.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

our god lives underground by Andrew Shouldice 2014-05-19T21:20:00

I love the graphics and mood. I just wish there was more gameplay

Crystal Myth by TeamInCharge 2014-05-26T23:33:00

wow this looks a lot like our game. It even has the same ending!

Meddle by Pitƶik4 2014-05-26T04:31:00

I love this game! On the first level I jumped off the map by getting the rock over to the left and jumping up that way

Seed by AgentParsec 2014-05-19T03:38:00

Really nice game! I think it would work well as an app too

Wunderheilung by kbm 2014-05-17T23:03:00

This is a really nice game and it runs well in Chrome, but when I tried to run it in internet explorer there was no hand and the first patient floated off into the sky.

Heart of the Earth by Dans17 2014-04-29T02:47:00

Yeah we just realized that. We're adding some minor bug fixes now.

Heart of the Earth by Dans17 2014-04-30T03:54:00

Yeah we originally planned to have checkpoints but we didn't have time. We'll probably make a post-compo version soon with checkpoints and other improvements. Hyouko, i like your ideas about the jumping so we'll probably add something like that as well. And KirbiKaka, we also had a lot of fun ourselves jumping up the mountains haha.

Dereck by Fnkee 2014-05-08T23:33:00

I like the music, art, and idea. Good job!

Blackwald Forest by RevelBase 2014-05-18T23:46:00

Cool game! Except it took me a few times to get it to work. This is due to a bug that happens when you try to crush one of the knights with a block. If you miss by a little bit, the knight will turn around and if they make it all the way back to the beginning of the level they will walk off of the map making the level unbeatable as the knight is still alive.

Flipside by NathanBrower 2014-04-30T03:44:00

Reminded me a little bit of Shift. Still a really good game with good gameplay and level design.

Darkvision by vexille 2014-04-30T04:08:00

Nice mood and the animations are really cool (despite being buggy at times).

Reaching new surfaces by lixaxil 2014-05-12T20:17:00

Confusing game, could use better instructions and there's no audio playing which could be included to further improve the atmosphere of the game.

The Gathering by oatsbarley 2014-05-19T22:00:00

One of my favorite submissions so far

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Heart Star by AdventureIslands 2014-08-27T00:53:00

Good game, nicely done

Crowded Street by PTSnoop 2014-09-01T02:57:00

I love the idea! I would be interested in playing a more complex post-compo version.

Courier by rhaasken 2014-09-01T02:13:00

A very simple game, but surprisingly fun!

In The Shadows by Nokifict 2014-09-01T00:56:00

Interesting game. You should really put the music on a loop though. It plays through once and then ends.

In The Shadows by Nokifict 2014-09-01T00:57:00

It also has almost the same name as our game!

Monster Dude's World! by CartoonJenn 2014-09-05T05:12:00

Seemed like it would fit the previous theme of Minimalism better than Connected Worlds.

Chromasis by jwin 2014-09-03T06:47:00

A little confusing at first, but very enjoyable once I got used to it :)

Zwitch by syawqy 2014-08-27T00:57:00

Nice short game, like the mood

First Encounter by Ysty 2014-09-01T02:07:00

I love how you combined Unity and Twine into one game.

Please Hold by Liz England 2014-09-06T20:27:00

I really want to play this game but I can't seem to get it past my anti-virus software.

juxtapose by zillix 2014-08-31T23:47:00

Very innovative entry!

Use the Stones by SeanWiles 2014-09-01T00:09:00

I recommend locking the mouse to the screen. It makes looking around in first-person games a lot easier.

Line Crossing by Lissar 2014-08-27T07:59:00

I really loved this game; it reminded me a little of a Miyazaki film.

Sinister by Joe Williamson 2014-08-27T01:04:00

Very good pixel art, good mood also

House of Demise (Horror/Puzzle) by RawboSaurX 2014-08-31T22:54:00

Wow, this game was really well done! It's the only other horror game I've seen so far besides my own. After multiple attempts I was finally able to beat the game. Reloading was a little weird; I think you should be able to reload even if the clip isn't completely empty. I also found a couple more bugs: When you use your Specter Radar after you've defeated the first boss ghost, it comes up red, which makes sense, but after you kill the second one, it doesn't work at all. Also, the game closes immediately when you finish the game so I wasn't able to see what my reward was :(

Boulder Toss by quade81 2014-08-27T00:22:00

Cool game, nice graphics and audio. It gets a little glitchy when you die with a rock but doesn't really affect gameplay

Dreaming Knight: The Little Hero by spotco 2014-09-02T04:55:00

One of the best games I've rated so far! I only wish that the sword wasn't so useless, as it is much more fun to use than the crossbow.

R-elink: A link between worlds by RaycoSantana 2014-09-03T20:50:00

Really great game. I had a similar (but very different) idea that I ended up not using because I decided that being able to see a different world in a just a small section of the screen would be too hard.

The Garden by bendmorris 2014-09-08T05:40:00

Very interesting game. I think it would have been more intriguing with an animation of your garden going on as you played.

I Find Another by ItyBity8Bit 2014-09-03T22:49:00

I can fly!!!!!!!!!

Dimension Jumper by Jace_Fyrestorm 2014-08-27T02:48:00

Cool simple game

INVERTED by Forever.derpy 2014-09-03T05:02:00

Interesting idea, but the collisions were a little weird.

Under World by tiff 2014-09-02T04:16:00

I liked the graphics but I wish the enemies had the same graphical detail as the rest of the game. I also found a clone of my self stuck in the ground about half way through the map?

Remnant by braqoon 2014-09-03T06:06:00

Very interesting game, though I feel it ended too abruptly. I would like to play a finished post-compo version at some point. Oh and I also experienced the glitch where you get stuck outside.

World's Best by PillowPigGames 2014-09-05T04:53:00

I think there is more to the game then what I was able to play. The four enemies at the start didn't move or attack me and I could kill three of them but the fourth was invincible and I didn't see anything else to do. I'm playing the web version on chrome. I assume this is a bug?

World Portals by Keevinw 2014-09-03T05:11:00

I like how the game's level design takes into account things that would normally be considered glitches.

Cablage by Allchimik 2014-09-06T19:46:00

Very visually impressive! I would like to see a finished version with everything you had originally planned.

496e737472756374696f6e by DDFranky 2014-08-27T08:24:00

Cool game, hard at times.

Earth <-> Krethys by BethhhB 2014-09-03T06:19:00

I like how you are able to preview the other world before you enter it, but I wish the controls were easier to use.

World Champions by kill0u 2014-09-04T04:45:00

Looks like it could be an interesting game if you took the time to finish it.

Fire ze Missiles! by bushmango 2014-08-27T03:04:00

Like the sound effects especially the narration because I'm too lazy to read. Good game, well done.

Jeru's Tower by ncannasse 2014-09-04T05:32:00

Its amazing that you have so many levels with good level design from such a short time.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Break the Limits! by Volute 2014-12-27T02:34:00

Very interesting game. I was expecting an ending where you would see him wake up from his coma.

A Dark Maze by BubuIIC 2014-12-28T06:09:00

Nice game, although the movement could be a little frustrating at times. This could be fixed by changing the movement speed to a fixed variable instead of having acceleration and friction on the ball.

Leaving by My Sweet Whomp 2014-12-13T04:47:00

Great art and concept. The best part was crushing Pedro to get your stuff back.

Tower Trasher by graebor 2014-12-27T02:46:00

Really nice job creating an RTS. Maybe I'm just bad, but I found attacking the other towers to pretty much impossible as you had to always focus your resources on defense.

Hard Winter by Taldius 2014-12-28T05:52:00

I really liked the idea and the way you managed to have the entire game on one screen through the mini-view. I don't normally like tower defense games, but I liked this one! The only thing I didn't like was that it actually got easier as the game went on because once you had 4 towers you didn't need to go back to the middle to fight off monsters yourself.

Snowman's Revenge by ketura 2014-12-15T07:29:00

Pretty nice adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's. I think one thing that would have made it better is having the lights be more necessary, as it was always a better choice to keep making snowballs and simply shoot the snowman when they came close.

Thermonuclear War by panda 2014-12-13T02:17:00

I really loved solving these puzzles, it almost feels like you're actually hacking a computer. I also enjoyed the subtle humor in it.

Cell #327 by Aurel Bílý 2014-12-27T00:06:00

Very nice game, though I couldn't manage to get the second ending.

OMNI by Noah Ratcliff 2014-12-27T00:26:00

Nice way of turning the theme into an innovative game mechanic! The only thing I would have done differently is have a health system instead of insta-death on exit of screen, that way you could get away with being outside of the screen for a couple seconds without dying, so it would be a little less frustrating.

Sperms, Please by Mnemusyne 2014-12-13T03:59:00

A very innovative idea but it could be more fun.

Laundry Day by Omiya Games 2014-12-13T00:34:00

Well done, and enjoyable to play.

Shinobi Showdown by CustomPhase 2014-12-30T02:33:00

Really fun game to play! I definitely want to see a larger post-compo version of this.

Last Defender of Tenochitlan by hypothete 2014-12-13T01:30:00

Really innovative concept that fits the theme well. The combat wasn't very fun, but I think if you explored the options of the folding screen with the combat more, it could be.

Through the screen by OniiRam 2014-12-15T07:54:00

Short and easy, but overall a very nice game!

Frostbite by ShellfishGames 2014-12-28T23:05:00

Very fun and unique entry!

20 Days at Sea by bitserum 2014-12-27T00:57:00

Very nice game. I would like to see a larger, post-compo version of this.

Tyrannicide by koujaku 2014-12-27T01:49:00

Fun game, though I wish it fit the theme better and had more animations.

Sliding Dodos by Joski 2014-12-14T06:35:00

Nice idea for a multiplayer game. Unfortunately, most people rate ludum dare games alone so they can't experience multiplayer games the correct way.

Murder on Stage by greytram 2014-12-13T02:31:00

Interesting beginning of a game, but i wish you had finished it; I want to know who the murderer was!

Escape the darkness - by dearenot by dearenot 2014-12-14T06:00:00

Nice game, I think you should continue to develop the idea.

Attack of the Screen Scrollers by drludos 2014-12-13T02:51:00

Best take on the theme I've seen so far.

Wide Opened Eyes by nzgiije 2014-12-27T02:22:00

Very good atmosphere. I just wish there were more indications as to where to go instead of blindly wandering around a maze.

Escape by madalaski 2014-12-15T07:46:00

Cool game, but I didn't realize that you could dash until I read the instructions on Kongregate. This made beating the level with 6 flying creatures impossible, but once I realized it I was able to finish the game. One small fix I would make is that the yellow score is hard to see against the white background.

Pony Island by Danman9914 2014-12-27T01:57:00

Definitely one of the most unique entries!

Make It Count. by Kabukky 2014-12-27T02:57:00

Seemed like it had some promise but it ended very abruptly.

StickWar by ftstar 2014-12-29T23:16:00

Pretty fun game, but for some reason when you hit people both of you fly away instead of just the person that was hit.

Ricochet Heroes by spotco 2014-12-14T06:51:00

Innovative concept and well polished, nice job!

Valhalla by snickersnacks 2014-12-14T06:30:00

Nice idea, would be cool if it was developed further. Also, I think the point was that you could only change prices and buy drinks after hours, but you could simply leave it open to get by this restriction. However, I think that that might have caused it to glitch, because the time ended up pausing with no dialogue box coming up, so I had to restart the game

Walk to the door by el-pepi 2014-12-13T07:24:00

Truly innovative game! I feel like the title doesn't really represent the game's uniqueness though; the first name that came to mind for me was "Screenwalker".

Last Ark by Nuclear Napalm 2014-12-27T03:10:00

Very interesting game idea and nice way to fit an exploration game entirely on one screen.

Fill the bar by SMASH BASH 2014-12-27T01:12:00

Really original idea. I only wish there was more to the game after you broke free from the screen.

Santaur by tweedle 2014-12-13T01:18:00

There's a lot of bugs, but that's probably because you weren't able to finish it. I wish you had finished it because the concept is hilarious!

I Am Technician by Murchurl 2014-12-13T07:05:00

I couldn't fix the computer, so I just stabbed the customer in the eye with the screwdriver and beat him with a GPU. Great game!

Party Pleaser by Matthew Rayfield 2014-12-13T02:47:00

Very funny and interesting concept!

Keep it on the screen! by BabaJaga 2014-12-28T22:40:00

Great interpretation of the theme. The controls were a little weird, and it was a little too easy, but I think a post-compo version of this could be really nice.

Lone by BlueTheLemon 2014-12-15T07:16:00

I enjoyed this, it was a very unique and interesting game. My only complaint is that it was hard to see the white maze against the similarly colored background. The music also fit well, did you write it yourself?

GraviFlip by oh_andrej 2014-12-29T02:54:00

One of the funnest entries I've seen so far. My high score was 800. However, having to use the mouse to retry was annoying. As a rule, if a game uses keyboard controls, you should never have the menu be navigated with the mouse. Also, I wish you could use the spikes to your advantage. I tried using them to stop the space bots mid air but it didn't work. I think this would make the spikes contribute to the gameplay more instead of basically just being a border.

Defender by MatejaS 2014-12-28T23:34:00

Very nice game. However, I found the shooting to be very slow and inaccurate.

Chefs Legend by LTyrosine 2014-12-13T03:49:00

The physics make the game really fun!

Graffiti Escape by LeReveur 2014-12-13T05:13:00

I felt like I was pretty close; I found the balloon, crowbar, crab, rope and rock, but I couldn't figure out where to go from there.

Orion by feiss 2014-12-27T02:09:00

Its a very simple game at the moment, but this opens up a variety of larger, post-compo games you could make with this basis.

LD45 — Start with nothing

All Aboard ! Thousand portholes by afendar 2019-10-22T22:20:31Z

I liked your pixel art, particularly the image of the ship on the ocean! I managed to beat the game, though it was quite difficult. One thing I would recommend is changing the controls so that you don't have to move your hands around so much (the ESC, Enter, and B keys especially).

NULLRUN by mindfungus 2019-10-23T04:08:14Z

Nice mood and atmosphere! It would be nice if you added more obstacles or platforming elements to add more of a challenge. Make sure you rate some games so that more people rate yours!

Skeleton Quest by mahalis 2019-10-27T02:44:27Z

Nice game! I really liked the concept but felt like it was too short. It would be cool if there was an added challenge of getting as much candy as possible by going to many different houses instead of just one.

Kicked Out by DragonZBW 2019-10-28T02:03:38Z

Great game, very funny and original! I think the gameplay would be better if you had to use objects on different things to solve the puzzle and win, instead of using them all in the same place (though I did like how you end up getting over the fence!)

Run Through Worlds by celsyum 2019-10-23T05:05:48Z

Interesting game concept, I liked the face the character makes when he runs!

Necromanic by krammetje 2019-10-28T01:04:54Z

I like the art and music! I tried both possible combinations multiple times and also could not get past Vredus. You should definitely make your units face the opposite direction as the enemies, and place them on opposite sides of the screen. You could then also add turn based combat elements in to make it the combat more engaging.

FUTHARK by dikkop 2019-10-21T23:46:18Z

I really enjoyed the concept and aesthetic! I would like to see a larger version of this, maybe with a challenge of trying to balance things and keep life on the world alive as long as possible.

Asset Stream by aevek 2019-10-14T00:22:01Z

I really like the concept and design! I think the platforming would be more fun with more precise movement and possibly higher gravity. Also, it would be cool if a skybox was added in near the end to make it feel more complete.

Ahoy! by tiptoe 2019-10-27T03:40:59Z

Excellent entry! My only complaint is that the game often breaks after playing for a while, forcing you to restart. It would also be cool if you added multiplayer to this! The interaction with other players might be limited, but it would be cool to see other players' raft designs and pit yours against them.

HEI$T by pataya 2019-10-13T17:54:14Z

I really like the graphics and UI! I know it's supposed to be just a clicker game, but I think it would be fun if there was more challenge and strategy involved, such as having cops attack your thieves and requiring the player make the best choices to keep their thieves alive.

You are Blob by Ductoman16 2019-10-23T04:19:40Z

Nice concept! It would be cool if there were more abilities to unlock. Make sure to rate some games so that more people rate yours!

Ludum and the Lost Pages by solluxx 2019-10-23T03:10:04Z

Wow, this is a really polished game for a jam entry! I really like the concept and level design.

There is nothing here by konomizure 2019-10-13T14:28:20Z

Nice idea and use of the theme, but clicking repeatedly to get more pixels quickly became tedious. I would recommend making more of a challenge out of it, maybe by having the RGB pixels floating around the screen so that you would have to catch them.

Ex nihilo by Centauri 2019-10-22T01:08:56Z

Nice game! I like the procedural generation and graphics. I had fun building my city but would like to see it with more challenge and possibly a quicker pace.

Color and Creativity by Collin Thompson 2019-10-27T04:11:09Z

Trippy, challenging, and unique. Nice job! Though it is a little confusing and difficult at first, I actually liked the challenge of the changing camera angle and thought the progression was well balanced. My only complaint is that the controls are inconsistent with the camera angles; sometimes the orientation of the controls changes to match the new camera angle, and sometimes they just stay the same.

Fanfare Fantasy by Valden 2019-10-10T02:56:16Z

This is one of my favorite games so far! I loved the gameplay idea of rhythm meets Pokemon. Great job on all fronts!

Battleground Command by gamedevkng 2019-10-28T05:11:59Z

Fun game, I managed to beat it twice! I just wish that it was possible to kill enemies stealthily; I first tried to crawl through the forbidden zones and take them out one by one, but as soon as I killed one they would all fire on sight.

The items, that change everything by Dock Frankenstein 2019-10-12T16:21:19Z

Cool concept! I would like to see this idea expanded into a full game with a lot more complexity and interactions.

Dungeon of Souls by GullynGames 2019-10-23T04:36:07Z

Nice roguelike! I would like to see more variation in environment and a quicker progression.

Jared's Fresh Start by DrCheetos 2019-10-27T23:07:55Z

I managed to use the C4 to blow up the barrier, but I couldn't figure out if there was another objective after that. It needs some more polish and bug fixes, but overall it was a fun game! I noticed that when you use the upgrade menu, it will not pause the game, but when you leave, the zombies around you will be paused. It seems there is also an issue with already spawned zombies being paused. If you fix these main issues, it would make the game much more challenging, but this is a really nice start!

Great mood and ambiance. The dolls really send a shiver down your spine.

Attack of the Killer Yarn Balls! by Zliebowitz 2019-10-12T23:12:07Z

Cool artstyle and gameplay. I managed to unlock all the upgrades, but I wish that you didn't have to repeat the same levels over to do so.

Nothing left for Jim! by GreenDinoGames 2019-10-08T21:35:10Z

Clever take on the theme!

Nothing In The Way by JediNeeson 2019-10-13T23:59:03Z

Cool game, nice job designing levels that introduce the mechanics and progressively get harder. I would like to see you expand on this with a greater variety of placeable objects and levels.

Undead Alley by Mungo_ 2019-10-28T04:12:49Z

Fun game with cool graphics! I liked how dead zombies turn into pixels; we actually did almost the same thing in our game. I would like to play a full version of this with a larger environment, possibly with buildings or cars you can jump on.

The Tale of Earl by dans17 2019-10-08T17:36:48Z

Thanks for rating! Sorry that it's so hard at the start, we didn't have time to balance it very well, but if you are having trouble getting rid of enemies, try possessing a Mercenary and using his gun to take them out.

DREAMS by Ferdi 2019-10-08T22:02:26Z

I like how you managed to make such a cool art style out of just simple shapes. This would be great if you could make it a VR experience!

There's only Dark and you're a Cube (TioDayaaC) by scsc 2019-10-22T22:54:17Z

Cool concept and aesthetic! I would like to see you expand on the light mechanic so that you would need a certain amount of light to get past certain obstacles, maybe with some traps you can't see in the dark that would send you back to your last checkpoint.

Town Of Nothing by Namedvice 2019-10-08T18:59:13Z

Very cool game! I loved the challenge and the dark souls style level design. I also appreciated the details with lighting choices, such as the solar flare effect on the health consumables and the glowing enemy parts; the contrast with the unlit trolls really makes them a surprise. Some things I think should be added are a fullscreen mode to fix issue with mouse leaving the game, and making enemies' deaths alert nearby enemies. I would like to see a fully fleshed out version of this.

Pile of Corpses by TORT60091 2019-10-13T19:20:57Z

Great idea, this is one of my favorites so far! I would love to play an expanded version of this game as well.

Now Grab The Gun! by fallcresthero 2019-10-12T23:51:01Z

I really like the concept! I would like to see more levels of this, with larger levels possibly having upgrades and extra lives to collect.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Aberration by Megalink 2020-10-13T04:11:51Z

Nice game! You were able to express a lot with the graphics and mood despite using a very minimalistic style. I only wish the game was a little longer (and it would be really cool if it had multiple endings).

Dodge Da Beat by crazyrems 2020-10-18T21:49:40Z

I really loved the concept, great take on the theme! I had fun but felt like it was a bit too easy. It would've been great if the record started slowly started spinning faster over time and the music sped up to match it. Additionally, it would be cool if you replaced the realistic skating themed obstacles with music notes and symbols; it would be fun to grind on glissandos and avoid quarter rests, and a double bar line could represent the end of a song/level. You could also make some obstacles "scratch the disc" and send you back a little bit instead of causing you to use a life. Finally, I think some disco/club style lighting with a dark background would really fit the theme of the game and represent the mood better. I'd like to see a post-jam version with multiple songs/levels that you can play through!

Dear John by givit-game-studios 2020-10-07T21:50:08Z

I liked the story, and you did a fantastic job setting the mood! I only wish that there was some more variety of puzzles to solve, rather than just looking for letters.

The Deja Brew by drprettypatty 2020-10-18T20:23:13Z

Cool idea, I loved the story and humor! I think to make the controls feel more natural, you should just make the character move in relation to camera, so if you press down, you always go towards the camera, and moving left or right would move perpindicularly to the camera's rotation.

Eternal Voyage by Pluisjen 2020-10-19T05:32:07Z

I had a little trouble understanding the mechanics at first, but once I did I really enjoyed it! I think some improvements to the UI would make it a little easier to understand, such as making the scale of the winter bar clearer, showing the weight of each item on the travel screen, and adding the ability to hover over your people and see what status effects they have. Also, I noticed a bug where if you leave some people in a location before you travel, it will create clones of them that will persist in the location but won't travel with you. I'd like to see a full version with more distinct locations, and a greater variety of event/day types.

Eternal Voyage by Pluisjen 2020-10-20T00:41:12Z

The bug happens when you put people in one of the resource gathering areas (Forest/Quarry/etc.) and then travel before ending the turn. You still take everyone with you when you travel, but when you loop back around to the same location, there will still be clones of the people in the same resource gathering area that you put them. You can still use these clones to complete tasks, but they don't come with you when you travel again. Though it clearly wasn't intended, it was actually kind of nice to have a couple helping hands for a few turns. Maybe you could add a random event where you run into a friendly tribe and they give you some extra people for a turn?

Flip a Talk by gamescodedogs 2020-10-12T06:52:27Z

I loved the art! The gameplay is also a nice twist on its Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon influences. However, the message I seemed to take away from the gameplay is that in order to win conversations, you have to be mean and aggresive, which I assume wasn't your intention since the game was made to teach kids. I think this could be easily fixed though, by having all enemies start out with high aggression and making it so that you can also win by bringing an enemy's aggression down to zero. This way, kids might intuitively start by using only aggressive cards to win conversations, but as the enemies get more difficult, they would eventually realize that they have to be friendly to win. Also, I'm not sure if this is a translation issue, but I'd recommend changing the title to Flip the Script because that expression fits the game perfectly.

Emile's Journey by qui 2020-10-19T01:12:19Z

You should opt-out of the audio category and credit the song you used, since people are assuming that you made the music yourself and rating you unfairly (The song is Rio Pakistan by Dizzy Gillespie, starting around 10:00). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EEynd3k-78&ab_channel=BDMusic With that being said, the song is an excellent choice for the game, and the graphics are the best I have seen in this jam so far.

Loopy Flight by Macmist 2020-10-13T04:25:08Z

I liked the game, it was creative and funny! I would recommend slowing the speed that you are looping at though, to make it a bit easier and less dizzying.

Loop Lock Malfunction by GuitarBro 2020-10-17T07:21:32Z

This was really fun, sliding under lasers and into enemies felt especially satisfying! The little details, like the sparks when you turn and the camera effects on the menu screen, made the game look really polished. The only real criticism I have is that I think your score should be based off of enemy kills or rooms cleared because it feels unrewarding to go through lots of rooms to only get a score of 1 or 2 based on a random chance pickup. Then, you could possibly replace the point pickup with a limited time double points or something similiar. Also, this doesn't really matter, but I think the max health pick up would feel more rewarding if you gained a health along with the maxhealth. I'd like to see a post-jam version with bigger and more varied rooms!

Mind the Gap by coderTrevor 2020-10-18T20:57:06Z

Cool game! I liked your take on the theme, and flying the drone was particularly fun. I would like to see a longer version that goes through multiple train cars.

StuckyLoop by ownedstuff 2020-10-23T02:52:16Z

This was very aesthetically pleasing and fun to play! I wish there were more coins at ground level though, so it would be easier to progress. Also, I just played the web version that supposedly has fixes, but I was still passing through objects at high speeds.

Rampage Derby by Tudvari 2020-10-22T17:13:23Z

I could only play it with bots, but I still had fun with it! I think the controls could be improved though, especially for the controller. I'd recommend limiting the left stick to turning only and changing right trigger to accelerate, left trigger to brake/reverse, and B (or another button) to nitro, which are usually the standard controls for driving games. It would also be nice if breaking allowed you to drift so that it would be a little easier to turn around. I'm not sure if it already is to an extent, but I think speed should also be a greater factor in determining how much damge you do to other cars, since I found that ramming cars at high speed did far less damage than slowly bumping into them repeatedly.

A Night Around the Fire by arron-fowler 2020-10-22T06:14:06Z

Great concept, and the visuals and mood are really well done! The enemies' lights converging on you, combined with the pink light and beeping, work really well to keep the game tense. I think some of the tenseness fades when you realize you can never be found while hiding though. One time, an enemy bumped into me while I was hiding in a bush and got stuck for a second, but it still didn't find me. I think if enemies found when you when they bump directly into you, it would feel a lot scarier when they come close while searching and nearly miss you. Another idea I had that might help the game keep up suspense is to spawn a slow-moving enemy behind the player if they hide too long, so that they can't hide forever. I'm looking forward to the post-jam version!

Jazz It Up by Elyaradine 2020-10-15T20:05:20Z

I loved the idea, it was fun to play, and the art and music really set the mood well! Changing the scale slightly and snapping the rhythm to 16th notes instead of 8ths for the solos was a nice touch. I personally would have liked having more control, such as having one button go up a random interval in the scale and having another button go down, but I appreciate that you made something than anyone can pick up and play.

Lasso'em up! by honey 2020-10-12T07:36:19Z

Nice interpretation of the theme, I'd like to see a finished version at some point! I liked the player art and the lasso mechanics, and I think it would be cool if you could lasso multiple cows at once.

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-22T19:11:01Z

The mechanics and level design are great, and the camera blur, level transition, windy trees, signposts, and intuitive UI make the game feel really polished! This is one of my favorites so far, and I would like to play a post-compo version with more levels. Also, I think I beat the high score

Among Stars and Robots by jaoel 2020-10-13T07:59:21Z

The UI, the cursor tutorial, and having the level pieces drop in one by one make the game look really polished, nice job! The puzzles were also very fun to solve, but like others have said, there should be an indicator of how many commands you can use for each level. I also got confused my first couple times at the level selection part, so I'd recommend adding some text saying Select Level or something similiar there.

Cellar's Nocturne by Dane Tesla 2020-10-23T02:02:48Z

I really liked how you used real photos and pixelated them to make it look like game art! You did a really job making the art and gameplay work well over the photos, but I would still like to see more variety of things to interact with in the rooms. I also think the timing or position of the jumpscares should be modified because usually when you are moving you are looking at the map, so when you move and the jumpscare happens on the other side of the screen it isn't as scary. Eventually, I was able to beat the game, but I got stuck and had to restart a few times because the interactable spirit was either missing or glitched out and couldn't be clicked on.

Fire Loop by Kevin Meissner 2020-10-15T19:25:49Z

Fantastic job on the graphics and UI! I'd like to see a post-jam version of this with more elements and enemy types; I think the element looping mechanic has a lot of potential, but timing your shots would be more interesting if you had had to line up the correct element for the correct enemy.

Fire Loop by Kevin Meissner 2020-10-15T19:27:50Z

This was my highscore, by the way. Screenshot (47).png

Looper by Play-Pause-Games 2020-10-22T23:53:04Z

I liked the mood and elements of story with the notes! I also liked the mechanic of having to choose what you keep when you die, but I think the time loop made the game feel too rushed. I would rather be able to take my time and only restart the loop when I die. Also, I think the combat would feel better if the enemies only took one hit to kill (or at least one headshot) but were also faster and had a longer detection range. I think this would make the combat a little more intense and reaction based, which would fit the scary mood of the game.

Frozen Potency by Eugenik 2020-10-12T07:22:42Z

The gameplay is fun and original, and nice take on the theme! One small change I would make is making it so that the sound of the enemies talking doesn't play so often because once there are a lot of enemies on screen, the sounds can get overwhelming.

BULLET TIME by cakts 2020-10-12T04:18:22Z

Really nice concept, and both the gameplay and visuals feel very polished! I like how you used doors as an interesting gameplay mechanic by having time go back to when they were locked; we also had fun working swinging doors into the mechanics for our game.

That Dream Again by Bokonon 2020-10-23T03:23:55Z

The graphics and mood are amazing, and I really like the mechanics! However, I wish the grappling hook range had a little more initial range and it gave you a little more momentum for horizontal swings. One way to do this that might make it a little more intuitive is to allow players to swing freely on the rope by pressing A/D.

Ayumi's Day by Capt.Theo 2020-10-13T03:47:56Z

I liked the art and your interpretation of the theme, and once I was able to get a hang of the mechanics I could see what you were going for with the controls. One thing I thing would improve the game is allowing the player to chain jumps more than just once and allowing them to change direction each jump. This way, you could make it so the player has to time their jumps to go through the entire level "stuck in a loop" while chain jumping.

Crows of Wraeth by Roikku 2020-10-12T05:13:23Z

I really liked the art and the gameplay, particularly the boss monsters that change elements. One small suggestion I have is to make the enemies face in the direction they are about to move instead of the direction they have just moved, as the game's movement style makes it hard to predict where the enemies will go next.

Last Night in France by halfboltGames 2020-10-12T05:43:02Z

Great job with graphics and mood! I liked the idea of everything being slippery from the rain, but I didn't understand it at first. I think it would be more intuitive if you exaggerated the slip animation a little bit when you die and added more water in puddles on the ground and maybe dripping from the sides of the car.

Endless Grind by Stratobox 2020-10-27T05:42:45Z

I really liked the turnbased, directional combat system as well as the upgrade progression! I think there needs to be more feedback (like an animation) for when enemies hit you though, and I wish I could hold down the movement keys to make walking less tedious. Also, I'm not sure which way was intended, but sometimes when I died I kept my upgrades and sometimes I lost them.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Storm: Last Resort by Skosnowich 2021-05-02T19:28:03Z

I liked seeing the similiarites and differences in how we both created a pirate game, and I thought it was interesting how we both arrived at that theme from different perspectives. At first I was confused because I was holding down w/s and didn't realize you had to tap it multiple times to completely unfurl your sails, but once I figured it out the combat was very enjoyable! I liked that you implemented a ramming mechanic, but it would be nice if the front of the ship did more damage than the sides, thereby incentivizing ramming a ship in the side to deal heavy damage at the expense of a little inflicted on yourself. It was also nice that you offered difficulty levels, but I didn't really feel much of a difference with the easier mode. Finally, I feel like the enemies' impeccable aim would be more manageable if you had better maneuverability; I think if you completely unfurl your sails you should be able to turn much faster (like you are putting an anchor down). Overall, it was a very fun game and even without music, you still managed to express the mood very well!

Out of Gas by randomhuman 2021-05-04T16:37:48Z

I loved the artstyle and lore! I also love FTL, so I enjoyed the similiarites to that (our jam game was also inspired in part by FTL). Maybe it was just my luck, but I felt like I was landing on too many empty nodes. I also wish there were more choices to make and different strategies you could use during combat so that it feels like you have more agency over your playthrough, rather than just praying to the RNG. I attempted it multiple times and was never able to beat it, but I still had fun playing!

By the way, I'm not sure if this was a glitch, or if you just didn't have time to make this, but when you fight the "The Collector," their ship seems to be invisible.

I dreamed of Matriochkas in Paris by Sirkovitch 2021-05-15T23:16:09Z

The visuals are amazing and there are some really creative ideas here, like the reflection of the moon turning into the lampost light and the alarm clock waking you up at the end. The puzzles were a bit unintuitive though, and I felt like I was able to progress only through luck and experimentation, rather than using my head to figure things out. The lack of audio also felt very jarring given that you had a cello and a metronome in the game, but I understand that you didn't have time within the jam. After beating the jam version, I downloaded the post-jam (Windows version) to see how you had improved on it, but when I tried to open the first door, it just played a sound and didn't open, so I wasn't able to progress. I'm not sure why this happened, but it worked after I closed and reopened the game.

Descent by Iak 2021-05-04T20:35:02Z

I liked the descending animation (especially the transparent effect around your character) and the different object graphics on each floor. As others have said though, the gameplay desperately needs some enemies or some other kind of challenge to keep it interesting.

Falling Dwarf by Garywiss 2021-04-28T19:28:18Z

Fun gameplay loop and upgrade system! I liked how the various platforms were designed, but I would like to see a lot more spikes, particularly on the edges and underneath platforms, as I think this would make falling and jetpacking more exciting and platformy. I also liked the changing perspective and mix of 2d and 3d art, but sometimes it feels frustrating when the camera angle doesn't show enough. A small a tweak I think would help with this is having platforms turn transparent when they are between the player and the camera.

Run Miner Joe by Rolle 2021-05-04T20:54:30Z

This was pretty fun to play for a while, and the music was nice and fit the game well! I think the screen shake and purple/red screen are too disorienting and increase the difficulty by too much too quickly though. Just having the movement of platforms slowly increase in speed would probably be a better way of gradually increasing the difficulty.

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-05-01T20:34:19Z

I love how you took a simple concept like firefighting and managed to make an interesting concept out of it with a mysterious story. I just wish we could have gotten some resolution to the narrative! I can tell you spent a long time on the particle effects because they look amazing; I especially liked the explosions of fire when you opened doors (shooting water up to save yourself in these situtations was also a very cool mechanic). Personally, I felt the difficulty was a little slow to progress at first. I really liked how the last level had a purple fire source that started faster, so you had to figure out how to put out the fire in a way that you ended with that. For a post-compo version, I would like to see more levels that make use of this mechanic in order to create more interesting puzzles with multiple of these purple fire sources.

One-Butt Alien Corridor by PeachTreeOath 2021-05-04T18:37:37Z

This was a very innovative concept! Managing each of your units and grenades was difficult, but fun! I just barely made it past level 4, but couldn't beat level 5. I think it needs some quality-of-life improvements for the UI, though. It is hard to tell which unit is selected sometimes, and I think it would help to shade the currently selected unit's view range with their respective color. It would also be nice to have a color-coded reticule be placed where you click, so that it would be easier to tell where each unit is currently turning to and would make it easier to manage them all at once. Pause and restart level options would also be appreciated.

Let's Go Deeper by Deozaan 2021-05-04T19:34:30Z

Flipping this genre of game upside down was an interesting take on theme, but I felt like this perspective didn't affect the game in a meaningful way. Maybe it would be cool to have the ball have some gravity in this version, and then you had to press space to pull it up? There was a nice level of polish though; I liked how you could start from any levels you have already beaten. The leaderboard was a nice touch as well, but it would be nice if it would display your highscore seperately, or at least highlight on the leaderboard to make it easier to find. Also, the red light over the red text at the bottom of the screen was a little hard to read/notice (the Toggle Fullscreen and Back buttons).

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-30T18:37:00Z

I've been trying to think of feedback to give you, but I can't because everything is perfect. The level design is pure genius! When I originally read about the mechanic, I thought it would just be a Getting Over It clone, but you not only added a twist to that mechanic, I think you actually improved upon it and created something that is more fun to play. I'm a bit ashamed at the time I took to complete it, but hopefully it shows how captivating this game was. Capture.PNG

The Adventurer Guild by DeathStorm 2021-05-04T21:13:55Z

This was an interesting concept, it gave me Darkest Dungeon vibes but with more management. It would be nice if the game was explained a little better in the game itself, rather than just the tutorial text on the game page. For example, I couldn't tell that the Expedition text was a button until I read that it was on the game page. Deciding whether or not to continue an expedition kind of felt like gambling, which was fun, but I wish there was more information given so that there would be more strategy involved. Given that you restore food and party health over time, I think maybe the difficulty could increase over time as well, which would make it more exciting and force the player to be more efficient with their choices (this would also probably fix the issue you have with the game eventually getting too easy).

Hadal Depth by RAC-Games 2021-05-15T22:17:03Z

Nice game! It was interesting to see how we made very similiar games for this jam despite approaching it from different angles. I really liked the enemy illustrations, and the UI was very nicely polished. The sound effects for the creatures were also nice, did you make them yourself? I'm not sure if I like how the game is level-based instead of roguelike like Slay the Spire (it made it much too easy because you don't have to worry about taking damage as long as you win the fight), but it is nice for a jam so that people can easily see all the content even if they die. I also wished there was deck building so that the gampeplay was less relient on RNG. Overall, it was a fun game and I played it until the end!

What Swims Beneath Us. by DrunkardWolf 2021-05-08T18:04:31Z

I really the concept of having to be brave enough to keep descending, and the mood was established very well! The camera sway was a nice touch, but sometimes it made it a little frustrating to hit the descend button (maybe making the button a little bigger would help?). It would be nice if there maybe were multiple monsters that came at you from different angles, and also if the heartbeat was nerfed a little. Right now, you can basically just descend until you hear the heartbeat, and then stop and wait until it leaves, so I think this would add some more interesting gameplay by forcing you to look around and use your radar more.

Meditation Journey by schwede 2021-04-29T20:35:16Z

This was a really interesting idea! I've always had trouble being able to medidate so this was actually quite helpful.

Shook by SleepyStudios 2021-05-03T03:59:51Z

I've seen a lot of fishing games for this jam, but this was by far the most unique one I've played yet! I really like the mechcanic of having to manage your bucket and your gun as you swing them around, but I agree with others that you should be able to move farther to the sides and you should move faster on your way up. The fraying rope is also a nice way of representing your health, and I liked how you laid out the UI. I think it would be fun and would add to the chaos if buying new weapons added another weapon to swing around instead of just replacing your current one. With some tweaks, I think the mechanics are simple enough that this could be a pretty succesful mobile game!

Disco Inferno by Simon Rahnasto 2021-05-02T19:54:27Z

I loved the retro artstyle with the screen filter, and the voice acting was also very nice! The bullet-hell mechanics felt pretty tight, but I feel like the camera should have been zoomed out more, as most of the time the enemies would be shooting at you from offscreen. If you ever expand on this game, I think that your health shouldn't be refilled after each stage, and you should instead get a chance of a health pickup after killing enemies. However, I think the way you did it was actually nice for a jam game because it makes it easy for people to see all the content even if they aren't very good at it. By the way, @simon-rahnasto, I saw you comment on another game that you love pirate games, so I thought I'd let you know that we also made a pirate game for the jam, just in case you wanted to check it out!

Majula Fall by maaxoom 2021-05-08T15:59:24Z

Nice recreation of Majula's pit, this was fun to play for a while! Even though the mechanic is taken from dark souls, I think some visual distintion would help make it its own game if you decided to expand on this. I think a more arcadey style would work for it, with some brighter colors helping to make the platforms stand out more. It would also be nice if it was endless, so instead of trying to reach the end, you would just try to reach a larger depth.

Freg, Fregg, and Freggy: The Last Band by Honest Dan 2021-05-03T22:17:04Z

I loved the art and music! We also made a realtime card game for the jam, so it was interesting to see how we arrived at similar concepts but implemented them very differently. I really liked how the gameplay was built around a music theme, but I feel like you are missing some opportunities with this theme. For example, I found the drawing/discarding of cards to be unintuitive, and it seemed to happen at arbitrary times; it would be cool if you drew a card at the start of each measure of music (for example), so that the progression of the game feels more rhythmic and intuitive. I also liked how a note was played on each attack, but they often felt like they were being cut off or played at sort of weird times; again, I think the attacks could be synced better to the music so that it feels rhythmic and sounds more interesting. Overall, it was fun to play through, and it captured its mood very well, but I feel like a lot of balance changes are needed for the cards. I understand that it is difficult to balance a card game for a jam though (we struggled with this as well).

Veiled Depth by zchangvx 2021-05-08T19:13:20Z

Really nice job on the art and mood! I liked the little details like the light on the mouse in the main menu and the schools of fish that swim away from you. I didn't like have to drag items into my inventory, it would be nice if you just automatically picked things up when you move over it or purchase it in the shop. It would also be nice if the resources had a little more descriptive names; I wasn't sure what cp, sc, and fb meant.

Animals in the Deep by Spicy Boi 2005 2021-05-04T21:42:18Z

Funny concept, and nice twist on the common digging gameplay! I liked the small dirt particles that are created when you mine a block, and the way the animals jump when you bring them back. It seems like you are handling the movement of the character by applying forces to the rigidbody, but for an arcade-style game like this, it will probably look and feel better if you just directly modify the velocity of the rigidbody when you move. There's also a Unity component you can use to easily get rid of the friction on the sides of blocks: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/class-PlatformEffector2D.html

We Have to Go Deeper! by Scott Steffes 2021-05-07T04:00:13Z

The art and dialogue and great, there is an incredible amount of polish for a jam game! The leaderboard and player deaths were also really nice touches, but I feel like the gameplay was too based on the speedrun aspect. I would have liked to have some more varied obstacles and have more challenges to the game even if you are not trying to get the fastest time, but overall, really great job!

Lone Miner by lazarche 2021-05-04T17:14:29Z

I loved the pixel art and the light mechanics! The level design was also nice, though it was a bit too easy (in my opinion). I was going to say you should have more situations in which you can't use lanterns and would have to fend off the spiders with your flare gun, but then the sign saying there was no reward for killing innocent spiders made me feel bad . I found the controls a bit strange to played with just one hand; I think using the mouse for selecting and using actions would be better, but if you want full keyboard controls, it would at least be nice to be able to use the arrow keys for movement, so that you could use both hands. Also, this wasn't a big deal since I had already beaten the game, but I thought I'd let you know that I got this bug when I tried to use my flare gun in the final room.

Donut Chat by Colletto Gregory 2021-05-04T17:37:22Z

Definitely unique, and very trippy! There were some funny dialogue choices, but I wished the conversations went on longer. You should really lower the dimensions of the game window, as I had to zoom out on my browser to play it. Also, there are some weird bugs with the audio where if you leave the browser tab, the audio will keep playing but will skip indefinitively, and if the page is refreshed the music doesn't play anymore.

The Deepest Fish by LeYamez 2021-05-03T03:36:16Z

I liked the pixel art and the concept of fishing meets undertale! It would have been cool if the bubbles had different patterns for each fish like they do for different enemies in undertale. Also, the yellow text over the white paper for the first objective is a bit hard to read.

Dip Deeper by Spaghetti 2021-05-06T19:48:15Z

I liked the art, and this was fun to play for a while! At first the controls are disorienting, but once you get used to them it starts to get much easier. One thing you could try to increase the difficulty later on is randomizing the order of the dips on the ground. You might need to allow for more time to make this acheivable, but it would definitely require more thought. Also, just a thought, but I think it would be funny and make more sense with the controls if the character had four arms.

Clockwork Abyss by Alexascher 2021-05-06T23:33:36Z

This is probably my favorite art I have seen for this jam so far! Even the UI looks really nice and fits the style well. The upgrade system was very nice as well; I liked how you many upgrades have both postive and negative effects and that the game is paused when you hover over them. The no-movement, strategy-only style was an interesting twist, but I found myself wishing I could at least move left and right. The music also fit the game really well, but you should probably opt out of audio if you didn't make it yourself (unless you made the SFX yourself?). I attempted it multiple times, but wasn't able to beat it; is there an ending or is it just endless? It would be nice if it showed your depth so you could measure your progress better.

Deep down the Abyss by Kyrios 2021-05-07T01:28:26Z

The art is really amazing, and the music and sound design are very good too! Like everyone else has said though, the gameplay is very unclear, which makes it hard to play. It is clear what Stab does because the name is obvious, and Mind Dive is clear because it has some visual feedback, but it would help if you offered some hints at what everything else does.

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-05-06T21:26:35Z

This was really original, fun, and had an incredible amount of polish! The idle animations, birds, and particle effects from the drill gave the graphics a lot of charm. Maybe I missed something, but the platforms underneath the second level seemed pointless and just confused me the first few times I fell onto them instead of just dying. I also got stuck on level 3 for a while because I didn't realize that you could drill upwards after a jump. Overall, the level design is very good, and the mechanics and difficulty progressed nicely with the addition of mines, locked doors, etc.

One small thing: I'm not sure of this is a bug or if it was intentional, but if you try to walk through an area that is shorter than you, it will automatically turn you into the drill. (This happens in the spot on level 2 shown below) Capture.PNG

Swab the Deck! by dans17 2021-04-29T03:41:52Z

@yaakgold Sorry about that, we took down the windows build because the audio wasn't working. We fixed it and reuploaded it though, so you can download and play it now!

Swab the Deck! by dans17 2021-05-04T22:04:17Z

@peachtreeoath Thanks for the feedback! Combo cards based on a period of time are a great idea for the game, and I can't believe I hadn't already thought of that myself. To answer your question, as of now, the buffs given by cards are permanent for the duration of the battle, but they are capped at certain values. I know it's not ideal that you can't see these values anywhere, but we didn't have time to integrate this information into the UI without making it look messy and overwhelming.

Heroes Dungeon: Doomsday Reporter Saga by AlexTagun 2021-05-06T21:55:54Z

This was an interesting concept, and was fun to play for a while! I wish the mechanics of different items and obstacles were better explained though. The lighting was also too dark, as on one half of the stairs you couldn't really see anything. The hall of the mountain king music fit well, and it sounds like you recorded it yourself, but you should probably make it clear that you didn't write it, in case anyone doesn't know the song.

Mad on a motobike by Sigo 2021-04-28T18:20:31Z

Really nice job on the mood! The lighting and audio really lend to the creepy atmosphere. I found the limited view and fast movement to be somewhat dizzying, however. Maybe a slightly wider view cone would help alleviate this. Is the soundtrack original?

Blackout by Frasse 2021-05-02T02:24:09Z

This was a very well planned out point and click game with a nice twist! The pixel art, dialogue, and music were all great! @starerik I totally get what you mean about game jam music being hard because you have to go with your first instinct, but I feel like it often works out well because you don't spend time overthinking things and you just write whatever the theme inspires in you.

Hook Fishes - Get Money by YaakGold 2021-04-29T21:24:33Z

Nice game, the sharks and the upgrade system made it fun to play, and selling your fish felt satisfying. I did not like the success rate mechanic though; I found that that the most efficient way to catch a fish was to click on it repeatedly, resulting in hearing the miss sound many times in a row, which was rather annoying and distracted from the music.

DICE - Demolition Into the Core of the Earth by Ghuyajil 2021-05-17T16:14:51Z

This is a cool concept, and the explosion effect from the TNT looks really nice and feels satisfying! There were a couple of disorienting things that prevented me from getting very far though. First of all, the lightning was very dark, which made it hard to see. I think it would help if your ship had some headlights that lit up your path. Also, I'm not sure if this was intentional, but my mouse would constantly be slowly interpolating back to the default orientation, which made it hard to steer and aim at enemies.

Nyctophobia by TheJohnyFeeD 2021-05-08T20:59:37Z

I really like the pixel art and the little details like the blood splatter! The dialogue/cutscenes were also really well done and contributed nicely to the game's creepy mood. I also liked how you had to remember the safe code from the early dialogue. The knife controls were a bit unintuitive though; it would be nice if you could just select it as your weapon and then aim and click to attack the same way as guns.

Surface Level by javi7 2021-05-07T03:45:59Z

Nice game, the pixel-art and 8-bit music set the mood well, and the concept and conversations are funny! The grinding feels very satisfying when you can pull it off, but it's hard to tell sometimes which objects are in the foreground or background and which will damage you. I think a simpler color pallete would go along way towards making the graphics seem less cluttered and make more sense from a game design perspective.

Journey to Atlantis by Kotzi 2021-05-04T19:06:43Z

I loved the card illustrations, and it felt satisfying to progress through the cards! The gameplay seemed to be based mainly on luck and figuring out some of the mechanics; I wish some of the mechanics were better explained but there were more strategic options available to you. The flashlights were a really cool mechanic though, and I think you should expand more on that, and maybe have some flashlights available to the player right from the start.

Where's my dynoMITE? [LD48] by miej 2021-05-02T05:43:39Z

Nice job on your first game jam! I had fun playing it and it looks like you had fun making it.

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-05-06T22:41:25Z

I really liked the pixel art, especially the background art! The ladder controls felt a little weird; if you are holding up and left, it won't let you jump off the ladder for some reason, and I would have liked to be able to grab onto a ladder by holding up or down before I reached it. being frozen by an enemy also felt kind of strange; I think it was designed to give you a second chance, but it felt kind of like a bug, and I was rarely able to save myself and keep going after getting frozen (maybe you could just decrease the time you are frozen for). I think some fire graphics at the top and bottom of the screen would help signify to the player right away that they can't go offscreen, and it would fit the hell theme. Overall, you did a nice job, and it was fun to play!

Deeper Inside LD48 by Ansh Mishra 2021-05-06T20:35:32Z

This was definitely some deep subject material. I liked the dissonant music and the way the art changed based on your choices. With so many endings to see, I would have liked to have an option to restart at the end instead of having to close and reopen the game. I also think some more interesting story-based choices would help the player feel more immersed and connected to the game character.

Dark Dive by Whysguy52 2021-05-02T00:22:00Z

Nice job on your first game jam! I liked the sonar mechanic, but I wish the dead submarine at the end was bigger so that it would show up on the sonar. I actually made to the last room but couldn't find the sub until I looked at your video because I ran out of energy using the sonar to find a path out of the room. Others have recommended adding more physics to the sub movement; I also think this would make it more fun and that you could also easily implement a damage system with this by just having the sub lose oxygen when you hit a wall.

Rocket digger by Kaito 2021-04-28T21:46:14Z

Nice twist on a simple mechanic! I like that you can upgrade your rocket to go throw stonger materials, but I actually liked the gameplay the most before I realized I could upgrade it. I think you could just add one more material strength than you can upgrade to go through, as this gives the level more of a maze-like structure. The limited view inside the light works really well for this because you have to find out which passages of softer material to go through without being able to see to the other side.

Rabbit Rappel by MatterLinx 2021-05-08T16:42:31Z

Shooting your gun to gain momentum was a really fun and original mechanic! The art was really nice too; did you make it in 3D and then render it with a pixelated orthographic camera? I'm not sure if the screenshake on vertical movement was intentional or not, but it made me dizzy after playing for a while. It could use a tutorial to explain the mechanics a little better at the start, but overall, the level design was good and the mood was set very well!

Tunnelbore by Kubbl 2021-05-02T00:46:32Z

Nice puzzle game! I liked the concept of looping back to the previous levels to get more gems, but it definitely needs to be communicated more clearly from the start. If you just stated somewhere in the introduction to the game that the hole is the main objective and the gems are a bonus objective that you will have an opportunity to come back and get later, I think that would make it clear enough. Also, given that I found myself restarting a lot, I think it would be helpful to make the R key restart, instead of having to press ESC and click restart every time.

DEPTHS OF THE INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX by pierogo 2021-05-03T04:37:46Z

I liked the overall atmosphere and the dash mechanic! The death animation was also nice, and I appreciated the checkpoints with the doors locking behind you. However, first-person platforming is tricky to get right, and I don't think the dark lighting helped much with this. As was suggested previously, some glow on the platforms might help with this, as well as possibly a stronger flashlight.

How Deep is Your Love by Bruno Cafe 2021-05-03T04:54:06Z

I really liked the concept and the variety of obstacles! The intro and ending were very funny as well. The art was really well done, but I feel like the 2d and 3d styles kind of clashed. Contrary to idea that you shouldn't mix them at all, however, I think it can actually work quite well with a bit of tweaking. For our game, we just added a pixelated camera effect that makes the 3d models look kind of like pixel art, and I think that would work really well for your game as well.

How Deep is Your Love by Bruno Cafe 2021-05-03T05:03:25Z

By the way, I think there was a miscommunication when someone asked why you had opted out of humor. You are currently not being rated in humor because you have removed it from the available categories to be rated in, which is a shame because it seems like you put some effort into making the game humorous. You also are not being rated in audio or graphics, which it seems like you put a lot of time into as well. You can change this in the settings when you edit your game page, but I'm not sure if you can still change it this late.

Into the Dark by Branton Lansdale 2021-05-02T04:47:50Z

I really liked the concept and the combat felt very satisfying! I wish you could see how many lights/generators you have in your inventory though, and that you could see what the exact range is that a light can be placed from another light/generator. In addition to the resources flying away when they spawn, I also had generators be knocked into undesirable positions multiple times because I was moving when I tried to place it. Also, I found that the enemies could be exploited by simply attacking them from far away, so maybe you should make them be agroed when shot. I didn't find lights to be very useful, as I never had enough of them, and generators could be used as marker points to be seen from far away. I think it would be cool if you gave the player a lot more lights but also had much stronger enemies that can't enter light, forcing the player to use long chains of lights to get around.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Decisive Battle by Erkberg 2022-04-07T20:27:20Z

I liked the combat system and the ability to choice a violent or non-violent path! I find that I tend to choose the violent option in games simply because it tends to be more fun and challenging, but I really appreciated that the non-violent path was actually more fun and challenging than the violent path. I also liked the combat animations and the way they give a tell that is clear which way you need to dodge. I think it might look a little more intense and realistic if you placed the enemy closer to the player during combat, so that it actually looks like you are dodging and landing attacks.

Before Impact: Meteor Fantasy by Garywiss 2022-04-08T21:24:54Z

This was fun to play, and I loved the music! It took a little while to understand some of the elements, but once I did I really enjoyed the upgrade system and the exploration to look for the altars.

22h38 by Katutt 2022-04-10T16:42:54Z

This was really cool! I loved the music and the Outer Wilds vibes. The animation for the world ending was also very well done. Some nitpicks: The controls were hard to get used to because of the isometric camera, I think click-to-move would have been better. It also took me a little time to figure out that time only passes when you move, so you have to start by taking the shortest path to the shrine; maybe this could have been explained a little better. Overall, this was a very fun experience.

Different Strokes by Scott Steffes 2022-04-07T19:37:04Z

It's incredible that you were able to execute this idea in a jam! Despite there not being any traditional gameplay, it was still a lot of fun to play. I enjoyed adding to other people's drawings and seeing some of the humorous ways in which people covered up the inevitable explicit drawings.

Nighty Night, Nosferatu by Shawn Moore 2022-04-09T04:27:05Z

Wow, this is an excellent concept and very well polished! The level design was great, and I loved the way the lighting gets progressively more red the more you stay in the sun. It took me 63 deaths, but I was finally able to beat it.

Pyre by Foursay 2022-04-07T19:05:58Z

I loved the storytelling, and the graphics and audio perfectly set the mood! I would have preferred a little more complexity to the gameplay, but the cutscenes and changes helped break up the monotony so it never felt too slow.

Populus Romanus by Bauke Regnerus 2022-04-07T19:28:48Z

It was cool to see someone else also made a city-builder for this jam. The amount of polish is impressive, and I liked how you simplified traditional city-building mechanics by only providing a limited amount of choices each turn. Well done!

Fly and Dive by SeabirdDigital 2022-04-07T19:54:10Z

This was fun to play! I particularly liked the refill mechanic of diving into the water. I think the controls were a little too unintuitive though, but without them it would have been too easy. I also found that the easiest way to beat the levels was to focus on splashing the buildings right way and not worrying about the spreading fire, so maybe increasing the spread of the fire and adding easier controls would balance the difficulty well.

Somnipathy by Cyzaine 2022-04-10T18:38:31Z

I loved the art and the way things get crazier/scarier as time goes on! I felt as if the tension was kind of broken when you stopped to read dialogue and the creature stopped chasing you, but I understand why you changed that. Maybe a solution would be to have less items that have dialogue, whereas common items such as phones and coffee could do without? Overall, great job!

LD52 — Harvest

Flee the Farmland by Chartle 2023-01-27T03:43:04Z

This was really well done and had an interesting take on the theme! I liked that you have different mechanics for each level, but I thought the first one was the most polished and fun to play. The soundtrack is also very good - what VSTs/samples did you use to make the orchestral sounds?

Chihuahua Space Harvest by Zyper 2023-01-12T02:53:41Z

Nice game! I liked the concept of the enemies trying to harvest your crops instead of just following you like most shooter games, and I had fun using the jetback and gun knockback to fly around. The time between waves felt too long for me, personally - adding an option to skip the timer would be a nice improvement (maybe with an additional reward for doing so, so you don't miss out on the crops you would harvest while waiting).

Water Tower by KeithSwanger 2023-01-14T05:41:00Z

Excellent take on the theme! The variety of tasks kept the game fun despite the simple concept. One small improvement I would suggest is a slightly more detailed ground texture, only because the flat texture sometimes made the perspective of long-ranged shots confusing, leaving me unsure of where my water was landing in relation to the fruit.

Hivesters by HexStart 2023-01-15T23:54:20Z

This was a really interesting game, and I had fun playing every level! Making functional RTS controls that manage to pretty fun as well is an impressive feat for a jam game, but one small improvement I would suggest is the ability to change the size of your phermones placement, which might make it easier to control larger swarms.

LD57 — Depths

The Depths of Madness by Amolker 2025-04-11T10:16:49Z

I loved the pixel art and your take on the theme! I would like to play a version of this with more fleshed out mechanics for managing the boat.

Dig in, Gus! by bigwhiteshogun 2025-04-08T06:29:46Z

@FoxEcho There is a weird issue with WebGL that was causing both parts of the music loop to play simultaneously in the web build only. We just pushed a patch that fixes this issue so you can hear the music properly. Thanks for playing, and if you have time please give it another chance!

Screenshot 2026-04-26 064643.png

I had a lot of fun with this one! It feels both relaxing and addictive to play. If you make a post-jam version of this, I would like to see some more complex mechanics emerge as you get further, even if it was as simple as being able to increase the range of mining and being able to string together longer combos of harvests.
