Liked the visuals and the atmosphere
Nice game, I felt it slow !
Big love on the visuals
I fell asleep (In the game, not real life)
Pretty fun
Oddly compelling. Very nice pixel art and great concept for this jam prompt.
I'm sure you're going to hear this a lot this game, but absolutely gorgeous cover art and delightful pixels throughout! The atmosphere throughout was delightfully creepy, and I loved the addition of the instructional graffiti! What a fun touch!
Thank you for trying out our game @shizuka @motti @escarpoulpe @n-studios @beefsock @briibot. Glad you enjoy the graphics and we appreciate your input about your gaming experience.
Great visuals, very creepy. Really well polished overall, great job!
Good graphiks and gameplay, cool idea and diversity, but these dialogs was annoying, because I was running from big spider(idk what is this) and I don't want to read these dialogs. Of course I read some of them and they are cool too
Creepy and funny at the same time. This really takes me back to the games I played in the 90s. Good work!
Loved it. Great style. Gave me some very good "normality" 90s vibes.
Cool experience. I liked the victory ending and the massage it had. The game had an interesting take on sacrificing sanity to stay more awake and I felt this idea could go further. Art was good, I especially liked the menu art.
That thing is creepy AF! Love the pixel art and the point and click adventure feel of the game. Was fun. Nice work!
I like style of your game. The monster is annoying as hell.. :D
@anton4ik-dev We definitely want to fine tune the dialogs in the Post Jam patches that we will do. We gave them a once over before release but there was so many things that needed to get tuned first! Thanks for playing!
@polymathld and @reneantunes we appreciate you playing! We are so pleased with the concepts and design that our artists came up with. I think all of us really like our protagonist Aggy's look and animation. The bunny slippers push it over the top!
@bamuko right?! The brain slurping sound is also pretty creepy when you get caught.
@malero thanks for playing!
Wow, what kind of twisted mind created that spider ? I love it haha, mechanics are a bit confusing at first but it's catchy when you get it :) and extra point for the mood, which is particularly well done !
Hey thanks for playing @tyrannas!
How do you play it? I'm clicking the Start button, but nothing happens. Nice music, though
@stupidhobbit Shouldn't be too much more than that. Give it a refresh and try again, and if it still doesn't work, can you tell me what browser you're using and what operating system? Also see if the leaderboards show up if you click there. Could be a bug we didn't find, and I'd love to know what it is for the post-jam patch.
I won't sleep after having seen this
Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 18.07.50.png
my best position was 19
ou the print got cut in the wrong place, it was like the cat had a hand tail because of the monster behind it
There's a lot to love here, the art is gorgeous, there's plenty of content and the premise is intriguing. I also like the sound the strange creature makes. I sadly got a crash twice and I don't know why. It just suddenly said that the webgl connection was lost or something and then the screen went black and I heard a snoring noise. Not sure what was up with that.
Also I'd have loved to read more of the text more carefully but the creature just kept advancing towards me so I just skipped through a lot of it, sadly.
@yaen Hm sorry to hear about the crashes, but the detail there is good and I'll note it on our issue page to look into for the post jam patch. Mind sharing your Browser and Operating system?
Otherwise thanks for putting up with the crash to try it again! Glad you enjoyed the play
The amazing art is definitely the highlight. The gameplay was nice, but I felt confused about my goal for the a bit. And the pathfinding felt weird for a game where you have to run away for a monster
@cyzaine Firefox and Windows 10. Good luck with the patch!
@cyzaine Firefox and Windows 10. Good luck with the patch!
@cyzaine Firefox and Windows 10. Good luck with the patch!
Love the pixel art and the design of the creature :)
I had to skip through the dialogue if I wanted to run away fast enough from the creature.
@fluri It definitely was a controversial choice. Early builds froze the creature during dialog, while the final slows him down to about a third speed instead.
Overall we wanted to focus on the tension more, so no freeze was the decision. Still it wasn't a light decision, and I'm still not sure which is best.
Fun and scary game, awesome, Had to skip dialogue because creature, how do you get higher score? cool point and click
@apphons6 Surviving at first, then when things get weird beating monsters (that aren't the big spider guy) is the fastest way. If you can survive long enough to reach the '3rd tier' of difficulty, monster you beat are worth a top of points.
Nice art. Difficult
I'm impressed with your artist! A ton of work tossed in this game!
Beautiful artwork, very creepy designs, and an interesting mechanic. It was more stressful than fun, but an entertaining game nonetheless! Great entry! Also that creature, absolute nightmare fuel in the best way!
@plixel, @jivvy ,and @cover-club-media , thanks for playing! We do have some super talented artists that we are lucky to work with!
Solid game. Well made truly. And it is really hard.
Great work! Love the art style and atmosphere! I experienced a bug when entering the kitchen from the living room where i got stuck and had to refresh the page.
Other than that i had a good time! well done!
Very interesting, I thought it was pretty fun, the monster designs were cool, and I liked the art a lot! Will for sure play again to get a better score
Great art, and the writing was pretty charming.
Really cool design and gameplay! I had a fair share of fun. Good job!
Our team wants to thank everyone for the love this game is receiving. Make sure to check out the leaderboards to see where your sleepless score resides.
I like the visuals and sound, quite an atmospheric game! Thanks for work:)
@tsugumi @leiv-erik @masterofcheese @cosmicallity @orangedragon Thanks for stopping by to give our game a test run. I am glad the challenge of the game is translating as well as I appreciate you giving our art-team love.
There is a very strong mood in this game. Hard to say what it is but even though the game is very simple - the atmosphere in the house kept me going. I always wanted to see that next room.
Visuals and sounds are great. Some of the art feels a bit out of place but you cannot ask for everything from a game made during a jam. Good work!
Loved the house design and the different take on the theme
It's a beautiful game! Remind me of a mix between Haunting and Zombies At my Neighbors. I've miss some sountrack in the game to help in the mood of it. Maybe a calm music slowing down while you're almost sleeping or something like that.
The animations are very impressive! Hope to see more of your work on the next jams! :)
Great art and nice idea for a game! Unfortunately I could not finish it yet (apparently there is a good ending?) because it kept crashing for me for some reason, but that leaderboard just might bring me back to try and earn more score.
Our game also has ranking (although you can't see it before finishing the game) and creepy entity that keeps following you, [check it out](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/light-fingered)! :D
@mortus If you can let me know your OS and browser and where the crash happened so we can try to recreate it and fix it in the post jam patch!
Win10, Firefox. Every time it happened after entering a new room. Twice the hallway and once somewhere else. And by crash I meant if freezes up, not really crashes my browser or anything. Also, I think the first time it happened I've noticed that objects were displayed incorrectly - smaller than usual.
@cyzaine I was playing a downloaded version. I've just played a web version and it looks like this is a really nice game, very creepy. Unfortunately, it hanged somewhere at the kitchen, I believe. I was running on Firefox and Windows 10
@mortus @stupidhobbit @yaen Seems my whole dev team uses Chromium browsers, and we didn't try it at all in firefox. Clearly something is going on there and thanks to your bug reports we found a common link! Thanks so much for the bug reports!
OHHH I TRYED SO HARD TO DONT SLEEP, but what a scary spider running after me, nice graphics!! it was really fun and i try my best, but its ok to take a nap sometimes (with no spider pleeeeaasseee) :)))
Somnipathy.png
The artwork is great! The movement felt pretty sluggish, but i guess it does add a bit to the feeling of urgency. I love how insane everything was by the end.
14 on scoreboard. But was fun to play :)
@raptor851 Glad you lasted that long! I was getting worried no one was seeing the really weird stuff.
@effe Glad you had fun! @whiskeybadger our character designer and one of our artist has a wild and terrifying imagination!
Wow, the artwork is as impressive as it is terrifying. Marvelous work! I feel like there should be a few more collectibles, it seems like it was primarily phones, with the occasional coffee. I also love the the monster following you can enter doors. ha! it caught me by surprise, because for a second there I thought I had some time to breath. Really nice game.
Definitely a relatable game. Creepy monster, nice visuals.
Spending two wakeless nights making my own game, I feel I know some those of these demons personally. Good job!
Great little game and fun experience playing it! I wish the monster would have a bit of a scarier sound effect and maybe a vignette applied after he hit you? Overall pretty great!
-Tim
Pretty cool! The art blew me away and honestly made me think of Sally Face. I'm number 15 on the leaderboard but I'm sure someone will take my place soon! Really nice take on the theme and I find it pretty topical for game devs in general.
First game I won :D Your take resonated with me, just one more thing to do tonight ;) Great work!
Cool art style and really neat portraits/text boxes. I always enjoy a game with a leaderboard, although I don't seem to be too good at this one. I like there are a lot of rooms to explore. I think more in-game music would have added to the spooky atmosphere. Good job, Godot friends!
Lovely art. The monster gives me some creeps :)
Very beautifull artwork, the movement is a tad to slow i think, but the game is great and the connection to the theme is good. However, i did crash once, when i went by the bottom door at the bedroom, the game freezed and nothing happened. Great entry well done
I absolutely adore the art. The gameplay was rather smooth, but it could have been a little faster maybe? But that may be just a personal preference. Cool animations too :)
I recorded myself playing, message me on the Jam’s discord @ Dark Peace and I’ll send it to you. The art is fantastic, and the text is probably pretty good too. Probably, because the only way to escape the mosnter is to rush and skip the text as fast as possible. I would even say that skipping the text and choosing the dialog option the fastest possible is the core gameplay. Also it's made harder by the fact that the objetcs' hitbox is pretty janky. Like I got than the yellow line means that you're gonna interract with the object while the blue is just movement but targeting the object is pretty not always easy and sometimes I'm just beside it and it doesn't interract. I do like the "click to move tag", very good tutorial. But there's not much tutorial for anything else, I had no idea what was going on with the monster and the gauge and tbh, I don't know what makes the game end. Apparently some items are good and some aren't but without reading the text it's quiet hard to figure out.
@bottled-up-dark-peace I wasn't even aware there was a discord for Ldjam! Thanks for the heads up on that alone, let alone the fantastic feedback you've given. I'd certainly love to see the play through, we'll learn a lot from that as we continue development. We really want to polish this into the game it deserves to be.
Lol, this was really good!
I loved how at the end it said that I won, that had a really nice touch xD
Also a very creative take on the topic :) Everyone knows that feeling when you're being super tired and like getting DRAGGED to sleep! Visualizing that by a creepy Lovecraftian creature felt very fitting! :) (The design of the creature and the cover art of your game are also top notch!)
I just feel like the coffee should make me more alterted :b
...Maybe I'm just pissed that I'm the last one in the leaderboard, but just wait, I'll come back for more...! :)
Also, I really liked the vicious but equally cute kitty xD
Well done guys! :)
@marumari Fantastic! I love hearing people making it to the end and taking advantage of our leaderboard of sleepless brethren. Thanks 😊
@100th-coin Thanks for your input. We did have more collectables, powerups and monsters but they were ultimately cut due to time restrictions. Hopefully we can toss some of these ideas in to enhance gameplay. Stay tuned 😎
@agrimes @unmagical @potatomika I'm glad you were able to relate to our game. I believe we all have our sleepless demon, keeping us awake and sapping our sanity lol Thanks for playing
@andreia lol this is me every night. Every project. Just one more thing ..... *bags under eyes intensifies*
@studiocherno @anaxie-studio @Iluvatar Thank you for your suggestions for sound and visual effects to help enhance the gameplay. We are taking notes in what our audience loves/hates and trying to adjust it in the game. Stay tuned 😏
@chrissx2 When we were first introduced to the monster's design, it creeped us all out lol so many creatures in the game give me the heebeejeebies. I'm still waiting for someone to find the 'elephant'
@magic-mike If you can let us know your OS and browser so we can send it to the programmers? Glad you enjoyed your gameplay.
@angiemon Thanks for giving us such a nice extensive review. We are hoping to get some parts of the game updated to enhance some more features for the game. I'm glad you enjoy the art and you like the ca~~~t 😻 💃
Damn, people having to do stuff on their phones is some serious buisness. What horror have we mutated to? Anyway, interesting weird little game. I like the art a lot, the gameplay could have been more engaging I think but it did the job.
@angiemon Can I just say thanks for recognizing some of the themes I was trying hard to express and saying them out loud? Thanks!
I'm starting to think we need to speed up monster and player and see how that feels.
Nice game, loved the art style
@davision Thanks for playing our little game and for the feedback. We are super lucky to have such talented artists with us! As for the Gameplay we are actually just talking about that now in discord, trying to figure out the first steps we are going to take post Jam. Keep your eyes open on our itch page for future releases!
@rawb Thanks for stopping by!
The art style is just amazing oO Soooo impressed! such a great job on that game!
Cool concept, with an implementation of the theme that hits home :D. I loved the expansive level and the various gauges to monitor; kudos for the graphics too!
Strengths: - Great pixel art - Fun systems to try to grasp - Huge playground
Possible improvements: - I HATE SPIDERS I HATE SPIDERS I HATE SPIDERS I HATE SPIDERS I HATE SP-
Great job!
The idea is great, the design is great too! A couple of feedbacks:
- The game is pretty confusing about the mechanics: why I have to flee from the monster? What is sanity used for? - The various pieces of art are great, but they are a little incoherent when put all together. Try to define clear styles for the artists, it helps a lot!
Overall this game is a little raw gem, with a little more effort you can get a great game :v:
Cool art style and interesting take on the theme!
I really liked the pixel art and sound design in this. I don't think there was an explanation in the story for the monster. It just surprise appears right next to you when you start. Since there is dialogue/text in the game I wish there was something that explained the monster. Aka, I wish there was more content, which is a good thing!
@castitatis @jlv @daniel-username We on the art team are glad you had an enjoyable experience with our game.
@davide-rossetto @kidabra Thank you for your feedback for the game. We are hoping with time (and much neglected sleep) we can get some updates tossed into the game so there are improvements on the gameplay and the art assets. If you bookmark us or save our game, you should get a notification for our new posts/updates. Can't wait to share it with you all.
This was absolutely wonderful and major points for being wholesome! I loved it.
Incredible graphics and the "You've won" made me laugh xD The pace could be a bit quicker though and (though it may sound contradictory) it would feel a bit more fair to pause the monster during dialogues.
liked the art, wanted to read the dialogs more but it felt like I had to rush reading due to the monster also hit a weird state in one of my playthroughs where I was soft locked, audio still played but could not move, interact and the UI was not updating and missing:

(Opera Gx)
Good Job!
@phillip-scott Thanks for playing and confirming a bug. I've actually figured out the cause for it, and as per Ludum Dare rules, hope to push a fix for it as soon as I fix the Windows 11 bug we also found sometime today. So sorry for the crash!
+1 Zombies ate my neighbors +1 Succeeded in sleeping -1 Zombie level speeds -1 Secret Collect
Loved the visuals. I would've liked to be able to move faster, and possibly see more logical locations for things like coffee on the floor haha. The creepy monster following was a highlight for me. Great entry
A very solid entry, I loved the visual aesthetic and the take on the theme is a good one. I would have like the game to be a little bit faster, but except that, not much to say. Good job from all of you!
Very atmospheric game with solid visuals.
I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to be doing, but I was scoring points so I must have been doing the right thing!
@otterfaelure @dining-philosopher @jamesolivermusic @mrpouletbzh @cryptomnesic @squimmy
We appreciate you stopping in for a quick game test. One of our art designers created the strong focal point to the creepy atmosphere. Each new added design made us even that more excited to find ways to implement it into the game.
It seems like doing something with the speed of the gameplay between Aggy and the monster is needed and I believe they will be addressed in one of our post-jam updates. I think if you follow the game in itch.io, it will notify you once that hits if you were interested.
Thank you for your patience
The art really shines here. The sleep monster is very creepy and the enviroment gives that strange atmosphere. Like, although you are in a house, there´s something spookye and eeary
The audio is pretty nice. Some looped sounds are very short and get annoying quickly
The dialog when you want to open a door creates a lot of anxiety. Like... come on, I have a monster behind me!
The times that I win the game didn´t understood why. It would be something to improve.
Great entry, looking foward on this game. Congratulations!
@the-fazzo thanks for stopping by and for the feedback! Keep an eye on our Itch page as we have a patch coming through to fix some bugs. It won't do anything for the sounds but we are starting to brain storm on the direction we wish to take the game. Step one is to fine a dedicated music/audio person!
Thanks everyone whose played so far! We've put out a patch that addresses many of your concerns, critiques, and crashes. We are SO eager to add more content and really expand the scope, but all in good time I suppose.
Looks really polished. Would be cool if there was a way to shoo away the spider-demon-thing, with a light maybe, Alan Wake style. It says I won, but I know that's just a consolation prize :,(
Nice Art and Gameplay
@renge That is a pretty good idea for the full build we are planning. To be honest while we all have shared some things that we wished we could have/would have done differently there has not be a whole lot of discussion yet on the features that we would like to add to a full build. We do plan on getting the lights wired in, we laid the ground work for it but ran out of time, so it would not be a bad concept to have it push the monster to the corners where we can keep some shadows for it to crouch in.
@bios3008 Thanks for giving our game a try. We are really proud of the gameplay loop we came up with for the jam. There is always things that we wished we could have incorporated if we had more time or thought of them sooner. But all in all this was one of the smoothest jams that we had. @cyzaine was so confident in where we were at he went out for ice cream on Monday!
This game is great, the first thing that draws your attention is the incredible pixel art work, impeccable!O.O The music goes absolutely hand in hand with this, it creates the right atmosphere and the sounds from the snoring to the noise of pills are incredible, a lot of work by all accounts. The character designs are great too and they make the gameplay feel even better and more fun, great job! thanks for your great entry!!
Presentation was incredible. Kudos to the art team! Impressive how much gameplay you got in + the scoreboard is a nice addition (especially within the scope of a jam). I agree the character felt a bit unnecessarily slow, and I sorta was left wanting more with the story (in a good way, like I think this concept could go further). Overall, well done!
That monster is absolutely terrifying! Great atmosphere and visuals and a really neat take on the theme. The game did freeze on me when I stepped into the hallway from the bedroom, but it could be an issue on my end. (Windows 10, Google Chrome)
@emaigualmc2-art @quite-good @waffleworksgames
So many positive comments for our art team!
Thank you for giving our game some attention. We tried to throw a lot of concepts into it and hoped they all worked within the time limits of this game jam. Some may or may not match 100% but we are quite content that the overall mood of the game has translated so well with our audience. We are hoping more positive experiences result from our latest patch of some looming bugs.
If anyone else finds things that crash or break the game, or have any more suggestions, please let us know. We will gladly address it and continue to make this game more immersive in the future.
@quite-good If you are interested in further developments make sure to follow our itch page. All of us are pretty excited to continue development over this summer and have already started brainstorming features for a 'full' game!
Hello! I hope the monster will not come to me because I only have one door haha! This game made me wanting to stay awake and check emails etc. I also liked the "It's ok to slow down sometimes" final message. I your pick on the theme congratulations!
@sagiii I know right? When we were brainstorming some of the beginning concepts for characters, I was terrified lol. No one wants a big spider with glowing eyeballs lurking behind them as they procrastinate sleep.
Big ole Nope-ity Nope
Maybe one day we can have a "Kill It With Fire" stage.
Thank you for the playtest and hope you stay along for the ride with our updates.
Really nice game, overall! The point and click gameplay makes it very quick to pick up and understand, and the art style is very well done. I was initially thinking this was just going to be going around the house collecting things with a monster chasing me-what I wasn't expecting was the overall story for the game, and the changes in the environment as Abby slowly gets more and more tired. I was genuinely hooked, and then the bug happened.
Capture.PNG
I saw @cyzaine addressed this issue with another comment, actually-the comment had a screenshot almost exactly like this one (Though they were in OperaGX. I'm in Firefox,). From what I'm seeing, you guys are also being very proactive in attacking bugs and further refining and polishing your game, which is great to see! It's a shame that my run was stopped by a softlock, but it's Ludum Dare-they happen .
Overall, despite the bug, this was great work! I only critique I had was that the music started feeling repetitive after a bit of time.
The art is wonderful! Everything really captured that feeling of a 90s clicker perfectly, while also delivering an anxiety induced horror feel. I loved it. So polished. Amazing job <3
The art was fantastic! So thoughtful. The creature was so spooky looking, I almost wonder if there was some way you could have revealed more of it as the game progressed (like at first, you only hear it and see a shadowy blur). Seeing it right away perhaps missed an opportunity!
My only gameplay suggestion (not sure if someone has already mentioned it--so much feedback already!) is to make the clickboxes on the objects a little more generous (larger).
Incredibly immersive. Excellent atmosphere. I really like this world and want to see more of it. The sound effects were amazing, I love the slurping sound of losing my sanity! Really well done.
I love the graphics and art! Such a nice game :)
@hawkin Thank you for your suggestion, I had completely forgotten that I was supposed to do that in our final revision before we submitted the game! I am definitely adding that to the to-do list. I also like the idea of slowly revealing the monster as the level progresses. We are planning on building this out over the summer so make sure you follow the itch page (https://zaknafean.itch.io/somnipathy-game) for updates if you are interested. Thanks again for stopping by!
@david-york The slurping sound is a good one. All and all we are pleased with the audio that we were able to pull together during the jam. As I am sure you know it had get hard to juggle so many hats durning jam weekends! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. We really appreciate it.
@alks We are super blessed to have such great artists on our team! Thanks for playing our little game.
OU! what a cool game! Now I will have nightmares at night!SharedScreenshot.jpg
@yusovv We appreciate you giving us a play. @whiskeybadger and us on the art team have quite the imagination to try and push the boundaries of the look for this.
Sorry about your dreams tonight. 😔
All else fails, don't fall asleep 😉
wow, that was creepy. nice entry, but personally i'm not a fan of creepypasta. the way the literal sleep looks is creepy, but that's what you were trying to do, right? nice job, personally I would like a more hands-on moving system, like arrows or wasd. personally, i think you should have opted out of the humor category, as this wasn't a funny game, but an entertaining one nonetheless. again, great work
I can now write pages on the importance of consistent style when working with a big team...
Great visuals and sound design. Delightfully creepy and a fun, wild ride! Also, props for having a staggering amount of world to play in!
Thanks @mavvy! We are pretty pleased with how the apartment came out. There are some plans to rework the size of some of the rooms but overall it is a great environment for Aggy!
i loved that you added in references to other ludum dare games, thats a really nice touch in the spirit of the jam! i rarely enjoy games where you are chased by an unstopable beast but this one was kinda fun for being relatable. also thats some fantastic creature design its gross and unnatural, perfect.
Really nice game! I love the pixel art. And music fits nicely too. A short explanation at the start (or here in teh game description) what the player should do (what to collect, what to avoid) would be nice, but it is not necessary, since it is not so hard to figure it out. Good job with the game!
What got me in this game is the artstyle, it's sooooo cool, I wish that the illustrator knew that he did an amazing job, 10/10!
You are so good doing art for games, you should a full game!
Congratulations guys :D
I loved the art and the way things get crazier/scarier as time goes on! I felt as if the tension was kind of broken when you stopped to read dialogue and the creature stopped chasing you, but I understand why you changed that. Maybe a solution would be to have less items that have dialogue, whereas common items such as phones and coffee could do without? Overall, great job!
@dans17 I hear ya there. The Jam day 2 version of the game was full stop in dialog, then I thought the same thing about it cutting tension, then obviously with the feedback we got, we put the full stop back in. I think your idea is probably the proper way to go about it, but we'd obviously need to test quite a bit to determine which interactions should full stop, and which should just slow.
@gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida I'll make certain the artists see your glowing comment!
@radmccool We really liked putting the references in, and hope to put a few more in before the rating period is over. While not our first Ludum Dare, I feel we are better engaging with our fellow devs this year, and the discussions and easter eggs are something I'm going to think about fondly for quite awhile!
Oooooh, I love everything about that monster! The way it looks, how it moves and the creepy sound it emits when the player is near it!
What a cool game with cool graphisms ! I loved the creepy pixel art style of the game, the different creatures and their animation was really immersive and well made. The gameplay was very original and the sanity meter and visual hallucinations reminded me of the Don't Starve game :)
We appreciate you giving our game a play today as we round up this long release week. @trexxak I'm glad the creepiness really translated well to you and super pumped people were nervous having the sleep creep constantly chase you.
@zimny11 I think that is a cool idea you have there and in our next idea session, we can see what we can do about finding a way to implement that as well as some of these other good ideas presented by our players.
@revetoon You are so right! Several of us really adore how charming Don't Starve is and we have joked a few times on how our assets closely felt like we were playing a different dimensional version of it.
We are hoping to do more work on this game so if you are interested to see its journey, give our itch.io page a follow and it will keep you informed with our updates.
Thank you again to everyone who has given Somnipathy a place in their day.
Such a great entry! Loved the theme take and original gameplay. The art was top notch, and I enjoyed having to run away from some HR Giger-like monster. The icons that pop up were able to be selected as they were spawning, so could click all of them before they became large. Not sure if that's intended, but made it a lot easier to get past the blocks. Not too much I can say other than great effort and execution, got fourth on the LB!
It's a really scary game but I do not enjoy the controls. Just pointing at things in panic, hoping it registered and a window will open. Love that you included a leaderboard. I am currently #13 but I do not want to tryhard myself to #1 with this gameplay.
A charming, funny and trippy game! Loved your take on the theme. And the incarnation of sleep is just.. whoa, really cool!
The gameplay gets repetetive after a while, but not for long cause the sleeps starts chasing you very fast. Nice visuals overall, though sometimes they felt really inconsistent... but I'm guessing it was made on purpose to give this retro point and click vibe.
Overall a very nice job
I was streaming my playthrough of your game! Here's a recording in case you'd like to see it https://youtu.be/hPPKMGZGGDs
The art and audio was awesome. Good work!
@furtive-pygmy @manio Fantastic to hear you took advantage of our leaderboard. It's surprising the amount of people who have bypassed it without leaving their mark. High rank or not, we appreciate you taking your time to show us how you did.
@caudatecoder Thanks for giving us a play with your intense list for your streams. We had a lot of ideas we wanted to implement into the game and we did what we could to include them without running into some functionality issues. Time will always be a factor of what gets included and not in a jam game and we are extremely excited how this one turned out.
@kazuren I'm happy you like the gameplay overall and us on the art team appreciate your kind words. It is extremely encouraging.
Thank you for leaving your feedback and we hope to give you more updates on the future of this project soon.
@vixenmink yeah I totally get that and didn't mean that you should've done better job in 3 days. It already is impressive for a game made in 3 days
@caudatecoder Oh, no, no worries. No offense was taken at all for your or any of the feedback we have received.
Truth of the matter is we have a lot going on and we wanted it to be a play on how Aggy is feeling mentally. Unstable and off kilter. As she states further on the difficulty "i don't even know what's going on anymore"
:)
Nice game! Like the concept, and the graphics! Looks polished, but it would have been nice to work more with sounds, and to have some original sounds there. Anyways, greatjob!
@leokrechmer Thanks for taking the time to stream, play, and try it again after the initial bounce. That sort of feedback tells us alot about the games early pacing which is super valuable.
I love the click the symbols thing, and how spooky the game starts to get after some lost sanity... Great visuals and music! I like how the controls are very self explanatory also!
@realtanhen Thanks for giving Somnipathy some time in your day today.
We tried to keep the controls simple so anyone could just jump in and play without being bogged down with cumbersome things they need to remember just to test our features out.
Glad you liked our creepy atmosphere for the game.
Nice game
Nice entry! Great atmosphere. I just really didn't want the big sleep guy to touch me!
@oneowerse Thanks for stopping in to give us a test. I hope you enjoyed all of the elements we combined to make Somnipathy.
@drentsoft Thanks for taking time out of your day to stream us and some of our other fellow LD50 jammers.
If you have really enjoyed our game, you can follow us on itch.io and give it another go when the rush of playtesting everything dies down.
Aggy shall be here waiting to see you again.
Nice game! The graphics are obviously really well done (that title screen is mind-bogglingly pretty). The gameplay feels a bit unfocused, and gets repetitive after a while. Still, I like the concept of a point and click game where you are being chased, it could just benefit from a bit more polish with regards to the gameplay.
Great game! Loved the graphics, really felt the homage to the point-and-click era while still feeling modern. The gameplay would feel better if it moved a bit faster but overall really fun experience.
Awesome game! Thanks for showing it on stream :) Here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1453383272
Very spooky entry, great mood! My only big complaint is that some of the art assets didn't match, for example all the items like the phone and coffee cup did not match the pixel art used for the rest of the game. All the art was fantastic I just felt the composition of these elements could have been better. Apart from that, movement was great, the concept was great, I loved all of it. Super good job to everyone on the team, and good job to @vixenmink who has managed to find me in every single live stream I join hahaha.
Very moody game, I enjoyed it a lot! I love point and click games, so it's nice to have a good representative here. Graphics and sounds are neats. The only thing is that it seems quite buggy. I had a lot of weird sound transitions, and the game finally freezed as I was going in another room. But I know what it is, we don't always have the time we want in a game jam :)
@gaming-night Hey thanks for putting up with that none-the-less. Mind telling me what your browser and OS are so we can keep an eye out for the crash in the future?
@cakts @vixenmink is our 1 person community outreach army. Thanks for enjoying it all, and thanks on the feedback. We'll need all the critique we can get as we push this project forward!
Of course, my browser is Chrome, and I'm on Windows 10, not very original :)
Very creepy atmosphere, and I love the art style, but the game wouldn't load on my browser, and I'm on Linux so I can't play a native build
@eboatwright I can actually do a linux export if you'd be up for seeing if it was stable. Can export it out as a .x86_64, zip it up and toss it on the page with a 'untested' warning. You up for something like that?
@cyzaine Nevermind I just got the web version to work  Yay! I just had to change some settings in my browser
An interesting game! The art and gameplay reminds me of point and clicks like Maniac Mansion  Although it lagged pretty bad in my browser, and It could've benefited alot from some vignette. (Although those are just nitpicks )
@eboatwright I added the native anyway, in case someone else wants to try it. If you do, do let me know if it runs lol
@cyzaine Alrighty! Also, very awesome of you do have given over 200 ratings!
A very atmospheric and great looking game! And it was cool to see one of you on the stream today! Here's the link if you want to rewatch it: https://youtu.be/n5c0GndY1SY
Are is unique which reminds me of an old arcade game "zombies ate my neighbors." Cool throw back
Pretty creepy mood and some nice visuals. I think it was a good innovative use of the theme!
Nice game!
Very cool loved the pixelly graphics . Would be cool if you continued to have everything in same are style, it reminded me of the old point and click games like Sam & Max and day of the tentacle. If you continue, more monsters would be cool
very well polished and complete game. to me the mechanic is a bit tedious and since it is a bit tedious the dialouges doesnt provide an opportunity to relax and adjust yourself to the upcoming action which orients the player to skip them. other than that the atmosphere and the mood was great. good visuals also.
This was really cool and tense! Was a lot of fun trying to manage your sanity and focus. Congrats on the entry!
It's a bit scary game, I love it! Very cool art and sSuper creepy music that fits there perfectly:) Very cool idea with coming alive furniture, and different objects. Very cool onboarding with a graffiti text "Click 2 Move". Very cool design of the scaled up cat and the main character. My score was 1248:) I had a lot of fun! Congrats!!!
@erkberg Thanks for playing our game and linking the VoD of it! I have been at work so it will be nice to be able to watch it and see what you think. We are all pretty excited about building Somnipathy out over the summer and are voraciously devouring feedback!
@4ahizon, @nsadie, @tulio, and @johnnysix thanks for stopping by our little slice of LD 50! Our artists are pretty awesome are they not? We are scheduling out a meeting to figure out a unified vision for moving forward as while we had a rough idea of the concept that we wanted to make, we did all kind of head there in our own unique ways. Going forward we really would like to be a little more coordinated. Keep your eyes on https://zaknafean.itch.io/somnipathy-game for future updates!
@potkirland we are going to tweak that in the full build out that we are planning. We will most likely have some dialoge while the monster chases you as it does build tension nicely. Keep your eyes on the Itch page if you are interested. Thanks for giving Somnipathy a play and for your feedback!
@jvdwijk and @filgru thanks for playing! We have often forgotten to put in some sort of instruction or tutorial type section in our prior jams and have suffered for it. The splash images were a great way to get the point across in a neat and quick manner. We appreciate your play throughs!
Really good looking art in this entry. I kinda like how fittingly surreal this entry is, if that's even the correct word to use. I was able to place 28th.
This has got to be the most amount of people I've seen work on a single entry, and this is pretty good, though somewhat lacking in content; or maybe that's just MY standard of expectations not being met. Either way, great job from all of you!
That was fun. The story was almost too relatable. It would be fun if you could interact more with the monster that is chasing you. It was very difficult to create enough space to be able to walk down narrow hallways. But if there was a mechanic that could directly or indirectly affect the monster, it would make the gameplay more interesting.
@chris1919 I don't know if you saw it but Zakahrum posted a DevLog on his design of the hallway. He designed it specifically so it *appears* that you can make it by the monster but in most situations you really cannot. Good work on his part! We are going to build out Somnipathy over the summer so keep you eye on our itch page!
@ronanrory thanks for playing! As for the content keep your eye on the itch page for more over this summer, we wanted more to be in the game but were struggling with some bugs that forced us to cut more than we wanted too!
Not bad! I had very little idea abotu what to do other than clicking and picking stuff up. I typically don't read anything outside of the game and let the game onboard me. Don't think that works in this case :P A good entry nonetheless
Beautiful game, very impressive what you manage to achieve taking into account the amount of animations. The demon is something out of nightmares, love the design.
chrome_9CXuXVgx8A.png Okay, never tried ketamine or something like this, but maybe that's how ketamine overdose feels. Great submission!
A trippy game, I managed to reach 14th position on the leaderboards. I tried playing it twice because I didn't get the point the first time around, felt a bit too abstract for me. Decided to give it another try and it felt like a fever dream disguised as a game the second time around, which is very good if that's what you were trying to go for. In terms of the setup and gameplay and narrative, it was very good.
I wasn't too fond of the graphics and the music, personally. Not that it didn't fit the style of the game, but that many things felt/looked out of place, and not a good way that I was expecting from a sleep-deprived hallucinatory state. Instead, much of the art felt like it was collected from different sources that didn't fit together: quality pixel art for the locations, stretched low-resolution PNGs for some of the items/characters, quickly slapped-together pixelated interface. While I tried to understand that it's supposed to convey the "I've stayed up for 3 days straight and I'm hallucinating", it didn't make me *feel* like that's what it was trying to do, especially when the promotional art, the main character and the monster is really high quality and consistent with one another. In terms of the audio specifically, the soundtrack felt a bit "flat", like more of an afterthought than a conscious decision.
That being said, for a jam this was great! I think that this was a very unique experience that would be unforgettable if it can be executed perfectly given lots of time and resources. I think this idea has commercial potential, and can be made into a horror experience like no other.
@amastryukov Kind words and good critiques. My favorite kind of feedback! We do intend to polish this to a gem and release it, so the more of this we get the better.
Our team did have 3 artists, and only 1 with extensive pixel art background. Unfortunately that means we lost something in consistency and tried to place them in a way that would maybe work with the dream/sleep deprived themes and atmosphere. Given the feedback I think we either need to execute that better, or more likely, get consistent.
Audio was tough. Our 'sound guy' wasn't able to help this time, so it was matter of chasing down creative commons appropriate sound effects and loops for a couple days, and then trying to put together some sort of sound scape. I think it came out pretty ok to the average player, certainly serviceable, but the lack of polish in the audio is definitely a high priority for us moving forward.
Thanks again for the time playing, and the time reviewing. Its appreciated!
@cyzaine that would explain a lot of the inconsistency, and I understand the struggle as I've faced a nearly identical situation before and as a result my end product has suffered (in my eyes). Kudos to you and your team for managing to put it all together and make it work despite the obstacles. Best of luck in your future projects, and I hope to see your team at the next jam!
First off, I made it to 609, position 48. The art is amazing and I like how it shows you the trail of your steps, walking around the house and allowing you to make a mental map is a good idea to keep you engaged. I think music could help to increase the tension, but the sfx goes perfect with the game. I would have like to have a more real impact to coffee, like moving faster or been able to quicly cancel my walk and move to another direction, or ways to defend myself a bit from the giant creature. I loved the Alice in Wonderland cat and the sentence: "kitchen, that's where coffee lives" will be my new phrase.
Hello Mink and team,
Love your game super fun and the art is beautiful. The music also fit well. I think some sound effects would have helped being attached to some of the creatures. Also the UI was a bit tough to read sometimes. For example I didn't even realize I had an alert bar until like 5 minutes into the game. Tool tips might help as well to know what the goal is in the game. Really great and had a lot of fun overall.
I really liked this one! Very unique take on the theme. Good going! Art was neat and the atmosphere was on point too.
Well, this was definitely a unique kind of game.
Like others have said, the look, sound and mood were great. I could have maybe used a bit more direction as to "what the goal was" as I got the idea that I was supposed to do stuff until I'd want to get to bed, and after 1000 points, I thought I would "finish the game" but there was no finishing it after all, so I let the "sleep demon"/"monster" drink my sanity away? I guess that's what it did?
An enjoyable and well crafted game nonetheless!
@xedur Thanks for the play! Ya we have a lot of ideas going forward for what the goal and real gameplay loop will be, but the 'Daytime' aspect of the game got cut early due to scope control. Eventually the monster gets faster than you so losing is inevitable, but that can take awhile. Things will be pushed more by the narrative as we move from 'arcade score attack' to 'story mode' in the future.
@syafire Thanks for the compliments! I watched the stream and it was really fun seeing you play through it. Especially appreciated your art critiques.
A game about revenge bedtime procrastination, definitely a really unique concept I haven't seen this jam even though it's probably something we've all done a bit in our lives!
I think the threat of the monster was a necessary ingredient to making the whole game work. It needed to be visually scary, and it needed to do a fair amount of damage once it hit you. This added to the perceived difficulty of the game and immediately makes you stop playing lazily.
I thought the gameplay worked very well as a result. It's sorta a logistics game where you have to quickly figure out how many phones you can grab, if you should pick up any energy boosters through your route, and most importantly, can you do it without getting tagged by the monster. Since you have lots of rooms, each serving as its own puzzle, the game kept me really interested from the variety of layouts to consider. Some of them were especially interesting like one that was shaped like a 3-pronged fork, with phones in each prong.
I'm a little glad you were generous with the energy boosters as it let you take your time more if you want. I personally just blitzed through the stages if I could, resulting in leaderboard 40 which probably isn't great lol.
Anyways, I think the concept works pretty well and the monster chasing you is the highlight and is implemented well. Gratz for fielding a big, solid team and managing to rate so many games with meaningful feedback and not just spam!
Solid entry. At first I was confused, why you should throw this big spidey monster to the player right at the start. Then I realised that it doesn't one-shot but rather drain your sanity, which is an interesting mechanic indeed! The ambience change at specific amounts of sanity gave this whole experience a nice touch. Cool :sunglasses:
Great job on the atmosphere here, I'm glad to see you're looking to expand on this concept in the future. Gameplay definitely a little lacking in terms of depth but I enjoyed playing it.
This was great! The idea was pretty nice (i mean, it was kind of similar to mine, of course i'm going to say it's nice), and it was really well executed, making the game rather fun to play, though maybe it would be helpful if there was some kind of indication about the things you need to do, in each room, for example. Graphics were beautiful, even though there were some cases in which different objects had different resolutions, making it look a bit weird. I loved the character and monster design, anyway, so that's good. Audio was also quite nice, and having a leaderboard was a cool touch. Overall, incredible entry, so congratulations!
This is a cool but weird looking game, lol.
Played it on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1456566145
@danial-jumagaliyev Thanks for testing out our game and even streaming it for us to see your experience.
You feeling like you were going through a dream or almost fever like experience is excellent and how we wanted to display our interpretation of how one would feel the longer they stayed awake.
~~With that 1 star for theme, it is possible we were unclear on stating it but our theme was the inevitably of sleep so doing all of the things such as collecting phones, watching tv, and running around the house are all ways people delay sleep of all ages.~~
I rewatched the stream and saw it was innovation and not the theme you disliked.
"We all must sleep ... eventually" ;)
We have added your feedback to our ideas list on how to improve out game for when we try to focus on a full game. Thank you again and Happy Easter!
@vixenmink I don't think I gave 1 star for theme, lol.
@danial-jumagaliyev You didn't lol. I had to rewatch and had since corrected my comment about 2 hours ago to say it was innovation, not theme.
We are always trying to improve upon hearing feedback and did want to hear your ideas on how we could improve our game's innovation. What types if elements would you have added to this game to make it more innovative? We had added a few things to try to make it different from any other game related to sleep but one basic one was the 'win' state on actually allowing yourself to succumb to sleep; making it positive vs. death, etc.
You don't really have to but I always felt that is what the spirit of these game jams are about; to hear back from the public what is working, what isn't, and possible ways it could be improved.
Thank you again
I liked the part where the gameplay slowly goes creepy. Good work team.
Love the visuals! Maybe make the character move a bit faster.
Whoa, what a fever dream.
I'm the kind of person who definitely struggles with revenge bedtime procrastination, so Aggy's struggle really hits close to home. And there's something special about the important things that still need to be done often being things like updating your dating profile or liking a photo. Maybe it's just a joke, but it also feels like a critique of these artificial deadlines and pressures we put on ourselves.
I'm a big fan of nightmare fuel and creature features, so kudos to whoever designed the sleep demon. That's going to live with me rent-free for a while
I like what you did with the game over screen. My initial reaction was, "dang it, I lost," but then I saw the screen says, "you win." I think that's really nice, and it comes away with a positive message. So I guess never mind the leaderboards, the best way to play this game is to just go straight to bed.
Thanks for letting me play your game. I really needed it.
We appreciate you all giving our game a playthrough!
@Preboot We have been working at trying to balance the game's challenge along with how fast Aggy moves in the game and hoping when we aim for a full-game release we can find a balance for her speed.
@dustya29 We were hoping to give off a creepy vibe with the visuals and our main pixel artist was quite spot on for Aggy and her lurking creeper.
Heck, those eyeballs lurk in the back of my head rent-free when I went to animate the gif at the top of this game page, @bougiebirdie. We played with some ideas on what message to leave the player with when it was Game Over and I am glad its positive message translated to you.
I think we all can relate to sleeplessness, deadlines, internal pressure, questioning ourselves and our actions, and coming out on the other end better after having some rest (and possibly food).
Thank you again for your feedback
That'd be the web or windows builds they kept crashing for me :/ it's a shame the ambiance looked interesting farther into the game
Very solid entry! I liked it overall, the graphics, the music and designs (especially the chasing one). You captured the creepy atmosphere for sure. I feel the interactable objects could have had a slightly bigger collider.
Good job!
@kaldrin were you on windows 10 or 11? Thanks for the patience and giving it a solid shot.
Thanks every one who tried our game!
@cyzaine windows 11, sorry I couldn't play it more to rate it ^^`
