LD38 — A Small World

World Fighter by LeviDSmith 2017-05-13T19:00:37Z

That was cool haha! I'm impressed you did this in 48 hours, all by yourself! if you continue working on it, I'd suggest like others above me the ability to block and/or more special moves/abilities maybe :) or instead of blocking the ability to dash and therefore having to time it correctly (the right time to punch an enemy would then be right after he tried to punch you, or something like that). as well as final bosses of course! ;D

also I thought it was really silly and adoreable (I love something like that! :D) rated <3

Core Breakdown! by Firstdream 2017-05-01T16:03:15Z

Hi! What a nice idea :) I also loved that you have a storymode and npcs :) The mini game Idea is also nice and challenging however this sheep minigame was driving me nuts, do they have to completely be in the red square? because nothing happened for me and then I gave up :( I liked it however :) rated :)

Destruction Zone by Chronosv2 2017-05-01T15:50:14Z

Wow, what a cool game! I really had fun playing it, some decent tower defence stuff here :) I also really liked the balance; although after some upgrades noticably made me alot stronger and feel badass, it didn'n turn boring since the enemies and/or their skill also increased :) really nice what you were able to put up alone in this little amount of time! I'm even jealous you have a game that last longer than 1 minute, haha :)

I just have to admit I didn't quite look at the interface or explicity understood WHY I died in the end, so if you want to work on this game a little more, maybe add Icons to your interface and make low displays attract attention or something like that :)

I would also love if you could build towers by spending some currency, maybe the enemies drop a currency and then you need to decide what to buy, upgrade for yourself or infrastructure? :)

I also love the idea of the world getting smaller and smaller, maybe add some plot twist how you can save yourself after all, that would be cool :D

Pollux by fatPenguin 2017-04-25T18:41:47Z

thank you guys so much! So much appreciation..! ^_^ so cool you tried it out! you could also try giving him the goofiest "hairstyle", haha :D ..of course it's easier when you're still in unity and can organize yourself infinite stardust ;P Thanks again! :)

Pollux by fatPenguin 2017-05-01T15:36:21Z

Thank you guys so so much!! :) I totally agree to your negative feedback and humbly thank you for the compliments :) I know right?! I was so disappointed that our time was running out in the end, but I insisted on making the building mode super awesome haha :D although there are a couple of ideas missing, 2 being population and a derpy drone-ish moon sidekick, that makes goofy comments and has a random chance of shooting you xD ah well. thanks again guys! we will definitely try your games :) <3

Pollux by fatPenguin 2017-05-13T18:52:18Z

Thanks for your constructive reviews guys and that you took the time to play our game :) glad you liked it! yeah.. i know right xD we totally lost focus (*cough* or I did *cough*) and wanted this editor to be nice and all and have a couple of functions to justify having it in the first place :D I was really really sad we didn't have more time to realize every level mechanics we had imagined :(

a tip to get the most out of building mode: start with a vulcano early on (you start with 25 stardust already) then shoot every obstacle in the beginning. as soon as you reach 30, add a lamp for stardust multiplication. for the rest if the stardust, just fix yourself. bug-related, you will end up with full hp and more stardust than before x) also, stardust over time.

thank you all again!! :) <3

Island Guard by AnayK 2017-04-30T10:19:37Z

looks like a really nice tower defense game! but sadly I cant play it, mac here :( I recommend also providing a web link because then you get more people to play it :)

Aliens vs Rng by Valicitor 2017-05-13T19:13:29Z

Wow, what a fun game! I was intrigued after reading "cards against humanity" and was not disappointed! :D great idea! I really wanted to find our more :) for that time and a 1 person team, wow! the graphics are simple and pretty, really satisfying for my eyes, and I have a thing for aesthetics, hence I'm right! :P

What would be nice to add if you plan to continue working on this game would be some kind of timer (unless time doesn't matter, I didnt really get that) also, more events you need to actively avoid/react to (and the ability to pause) other than the chatboxes I mean, more like those little spaceships, I think it would be really cool to have two different game mechanics (deciding/fighting) and put an interesting spin on your game :)

again, nice work! rated <3

FUEL by KCreanor 2017-04-26T06:56:02Z

WOW!!! That's so cool! Really impressive that you managed to do this in a Compo! It has a really nice gameplay feel, and the graphics are minimalistic and pretty. The game is challenging but not difficult enough to leave you frustrated. Also, nice interface with good feedback! (haha, on steam you would never get such a comment, but they don't know the pain making it :D) 10/10 would play again :) edit: rated <3

FUEL by KCreanor 2017-04-26T19:40:35Z

I'm not a guy, but you're welcome! :D

Den by La mecanique du plastique 2017-05-01T14:57:58Z

That's so weird, I love it! :D the controls were irritating at first, but I figured it out quickly :) plus they really compliment the gameflow. I got stuck when I didnt understand rightaway that you need to keep clicking and then dragging (I thought like in a moba) because I didn't know how to turn around but after I figured it out it was all good. :)

It was disturbingly satisfying to kill these workers and listen to their screams xD

LD44 — Your life is currency

The Tree of Bounty by gelisam 2019-05-03T20:11:28Z

As others said, this was sweet and relaxing! I might just be a huge dumbo but at first I totally didn't get what to do. I think a little infographic at the beginning might have made things easier to understand :) But this is a gamejam right, so ain't nobody got time for that, haha. The music is cute as well :)

Wild Card Necromancer by JOrbits 2019-05-04T09:13:19Z

Very cute graphics and idea - sadly I have to admit I didn't understand how to play it at all I think you need more of an explantion before the actual game starts. Do I have to click on the card, or..? (I got then that this summons one necromancer, but then I couldnt seem to make new ones by attacking the crowds, rather they always overwhelmed me) I also couldn't draw a marquee rectangle over the troops like shown in your gif..? I have at best 8 soldiers and then some crowd of 10 people approaches me, everyone dies, always? others said avoid large armies, but how, the necromancer can't move..? Maybe I'm just too dumb, but could some explain the controls and game to me a bit, as I really liked the idea and graphics and would like to give it a decent shot :)

Wild Card Necromancer by JOrbits 2019-05-04T09:18:24Z

@jorbits Thanks, I did that before, or maybe I just think I did, because now I managed it! However the rest of the game still is a mystery to me, as after max 10 second 5 troups with 8-15 people each attack me? And I can't move?

Wild Card Necromancer by JOrbits 2019-05-04T09:47:03Z

Ohh gotcha! Managed it now to play for a bit, it was really fun and I enjoyed the cute graphics :D Big improvement would probably be to add more explanation and dont leave players to figure stuff out for themselfes, you know how impatient and dumb gamers are ;P Overall a good job! Rated :)

Life is precious by freso 2019-05-02T16:13:32Z

That was really surprisingly hard and challenging :D music was also good. Liked the upgrades idea :) Good job :D What's I felt was kinda missing was some kind of indicator where to go or what to do next, I didn't know if I had to kill every enemy or if they just respawn and I need to get to the boss ASAP?

Calienows by fatPenguin 2019-05-02T17:18:56Z

@FROG5TAR: Thank you! :D Yup, that's one of the things we're planning to do :)

Calienows by fatPenguin 2019-05-03T05:50:20Z

@attala thank you! We’re glad our work was able to bring you fun, that’s what a game should be about right, so thaaaaaanks! :D

@douglima thank you for playing! Hope you had a good time with your friend/so :D did you win? ;D We were double checking the colliders before releasing so no one could „cheat“ haha :))

@volatile-dove thank you kind sir ❤️

@johannimations hmmm.. you think? :D Broforce was once an LD Entry and Multiplayer only and look were it is now ;D :P I don’t necessarily agree with PvP keeping people from playing :) we want to add an AI P2 though, so good call :)

@michaelsonbritt humans are the worst right?! That’s what I already learned from so many other games here done by great artists.. apparently aliens are no better :P thank you for playing! ❤️

Calienows by fatPenguin 2019-05-03T21:59:18Z

@norris-eldridge really? :D I thought the ingame music was much more "aggressive" so to say haha :) Thanks for playing! <3

@kyavi thank you! glad you liked it! :)

@mrbrooms first of all, thank you for playing and your feedback! About upgrading without the shop I personally might have to disagree, because that's the challenge of having to manage your time to perfection to get the most cows, isn't it? :D I will admit however that the shop needs some more work, but you know how it is with LD builds, haha ;) The different shops idea is quite intriguing, maybe we'll do some different levels and that could be one variation! Thanks for the idea and for taking your time to play and comment! <3

Calienows by fatPenguin 2019-05-04T07:56:58Z

@hpmnk hi and thanks for taking the time to play our game! :) glad you liked it! Agreed, some assets should be placed differently (because the colliders must be that way, haha :P) About the speed boost thing, I had an idea that we add fuel, when you fly normally it doesn’t drain, but when you have a speed boost or hop over and obstacle or something it takes a huge amount of fuel and once it’s empty she ship sinks to the ground and you have to (noticeably slower) roll back to you base to refill for free. If you decide that would take too long, you can always mash up a cow or two for instand fuel refill :D We also wanted to add some sort of beam from the base where you can also stun your opponent, steam cows etc, but you know how it is with LD, hehe. :) although we‘d like to continue working on it :D

Liquify Bo! by GaryS 2019-05-04T18:12:10Z

Wow, what a nice entry! Truly an LD Gem! :D The idea is awesome, totally fits the theme (to me not a must have but always super nice when that happens) it felt like a perfect mix of a puzzle game and "skill"game, jump'n run wise :) the blob was cute and for the simplicity of the assets they looked nice and were clear to read. the levels were also really well done! I think you could add a bunch of tried and tested elements like e.g. portals, enemies etc and with the right level design they would work nicely with your platform idea. (I have to admit I only made it to Level 8, so dont judge if some of these come afterwards :D) (maybe have a set of choices you can create besides portals while spending a life which you can toggle with the mousewhel/ Rb RT on controller?)

I'd enjoy to buy and play that on steam for ~2-3 bucks. I think you should take your time to polish it if you want to :) graphic wise ofc (you know how people are ^^) add some cute, dreamy, minimalistic music (I think of ibb and obb here), definitley a bit of the interface and UX (you should be able to immediatelty cancel all actions and go back to fulll health) the controls were kinda slidey and at first it was hard to estimate were the platform would be but in the end I thought it to be part of a challenge and enjoyed it. Test that with other players. I absolutely don't agree with the opinion that it's bad that you can create platforms which you can then not use, I think that's part of the fun, to figure out which you can and can't. I also thought the levels weren*t too long and therefore not too punishing (I am a very impatient person, trust me ^^) If you ad longer levels definitaley add checkpoints after tricky areas! Overall, cool idea and very cute! I'd love to see this getting polished :)

Kaumaha by Re-Markable 2019-05-02T16:07:59Z

Ohh hey, I saw your WIP on insta a few days ago, thought it was a really sweet style I'm excited I actually stumbled over it out of thousands of entries :D Really like the style, idea and music, very cute! The idea was also nice, but I'd maybe add a puzzle or something? (: Or some quick time actions would suit nicely I think, I thought there would be some when the camera switched to the volcano :D Overall cute and well done! Kepp going :)

My Little Planet by Maxime Hanot 2019-05-03T20:41:25Z

That was fun!! :D Tanks looked great! also, good instructions compared to other games that just start and let you figure out the 92650823765983475634897 controls on the go haha. (not shaming those, you know how it is with gamejams, haha)

Moon Miner by FROG5TAR 2019-05-02T17:17:29Z

Hey, that was really good!!!! The graphic and music fit together so perfectly. Also I really felt like I was in outer space, the physics were well done :)

Only thing that was :( is that after a while going forward I started to fly? :/ I tried to keep going for 5 more minutes, but it wasn't really working :( Did I do something wrong? Really cute game and I want to emphasize again that the choice of music was really splendid :D The sky was pretty too. shooting felt kind of rewarding altough there were no projectiles but seeing the health bar of the enemies going down made me felt like "YES! I'm such a sniper!" xD

Blob World by Sir. Syko 2019-05-03T20:53:30Z

Hey, cool entry! I like the idea and the blob reminded me of the slime king from terarria, hehe. graphics were sweet! Idea is cool. enemies are tough. game is too unforgiving at the beginning. :) If you continue to work on it you should tweak that as others mentioned; make the first stage(s) of a game really "easy" and a place for teaching/learning the mechanics, and after every difficult part a savepoint would be nice, would encourage players to try things :)

Overall, nice job!

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-03T22:17:08Z

Decent entry! like others mentioned, more feedback would be nice like a knockback, projectiles while shooting, indicated range, bull's eye.. etc :) graphics were cute, I thought the shopkeeper looked great hehe. music was very fitting :) Would have liked a better walking animation, but alas, this is a gamejam right ;) Pistol is too ineffective compared to the bullet price imo. Maybe tweak it a bit more + added zombies/levels. Maybe you can make sort of procedural levels where you have to obtain a quest objective and have to rade through a sea of zombies bc of it.. :D and on the way you farm body parts for better equipment. Would definitley play that :D

Zombieton by Norris Eldridge 2019-05-03T22:34:32Z

Really? Naaah the pistol sucked, sorry :P I though the shotgut was super effective and actually made an own achievement of it to hit as much zombies as possible with one shot! (record 4 I think - suuuper satisfying! :D) that's not meant to be bad though - a lot of games offer weapon/gear choices and some of them just suck haha (or are "personal choices" yadda yadda) the way I see it, that just adds realism to your game: shotgun>pistol

(defo with zombies! :D)

No Life No Game by TheMoonrise 2019-05-04T18:25:24Z

Great game! Easily one of my favourites so far. Ofc I didn't manage it, and the game over screen was troll much xD I liked the concept a lot (I was thinking about doing something similar but then we did our cow thing :D) The fights were really cool and gave me a terraria vibe, I really liked it :) The graphics are awesome and the animation is nice. The music is cool as well. Rated! <3

A.N.D.Y.R.U.S.exe by Dock Frankenstein 2019-05-04T09:44:14Z

Very nice idea and story, I really dig it. Some things others have said: I honestly didn't want to go through the first days over and over again to see every ending. Maybe there is an option to do a save or something? Also sometimes the enter button didn't work, which prolonged it a bit (you know, gamers are impatient as f**** ;)) overall a nice and unique game. Well done!

Fateshift by dougLima 2019-05-03T19:46:44Z

Wow, that was suprisingly well made! (you know, for that LD only lasts 72 hours and all) Really felt polished and worked out! Only thing to whine about is probably that it wasnt clear to me that the special attacks were meant to be the help of the demon :) (but I know how is is with LD, so yeah haha) love the concept, reminded me a bit of "for the king", but not turn-based, which I liked. Also liked that if you parry correctly you deal damage!

Overall a very sweet entry :) Keep going <3

Alleycat Faust by kostasvs 2019-05-02T16:21:51Z

KITTYCAT!!!!!!! such a cute game omg! Not gonna lie, the graphics made me play it :D Like the idea, and did I say super adoreable kittycat? I like the controls and overall atmosphere/feel, I feel like there is no objective though. it would be AWESOME if you made levels where the pbjective is to find all fishes and there are multiple obstacles etc :) and if you found every fish, you come to the next lvl etc. I mean I know this is a gamejam, and time is though but I think you should really continue to work on it, that has potential :) maybe some more enemies and traps etc? I like puzzle games with super minimalistic stuff and beautiful graphics/atmosphere and no UI, like in limbo or inside :)

Deal With The Devil by Sangemdoko 2019-05-03T20:36:52Z

That was splendid!!! :D I love how far you've got levelwise in just under 3 days! It was super challenging tbh after 5 rounds and 15 minutes I gave up haha but I made it until the room with the huge amount of dudes :D might give it another try on the weekend. really liked the idea and execution :) graphics were nice, it would have just looked even better if you'd added walk animations from the front and behind :) Your logo is awesome and cute too haha, I don't know why you said you weren't as experienced as us, I think you make a worthy penguin rival. :) Good job!!

My Life is Cactus by Aqshay 2019-05-03T23:08:55Z

*My favourite entry so far*, easily played it half an hour. I LOVED it! Love tower defence. It's like a 3D PvZ, but totally legit, same way as Terraria is legit although there's "already" Minecraft. I'd seriously consider polishing that and putting it on steam for a few bucks if you want to. Grafics were beautiful. Music was fantastic and fitting. Level Design, as in the assets was pretty. The game felt very balanced and I liked that you had to wait for upgrades and had to estimate if you can make it in that time.

What I would definitly polish if you even want to: *Add Numbers to health bar.* That was also the only thing bugging me right now when playing. I have no idea how much 300, 400 oder 600 is and wether I have enough or not. *add a "tutorial stage"* where you explain everything and the part of the UI lights up, flies into the screen, squash/stretch animation, whatever; depending on how bored your artist is lol edit: just saw you didn't use an artist, well, look for an artist ^^ or buy every asset, artist may be better in the long run though. What I think might be cool as well is if you add a *round map* with yourself in the center (like in the witcher), so you get a feel how the game progresses, with a lot of red dots coming closer etc (I realized pretty late that I shouldnt just invest in damage haha)

Really a great game, you can be proud of yourselves :)

Fools Fortune by Gear Steak 2019-05-03T20:49:02Z

That was a fun little game and cool idea, wow! The graphics are simply beautiful and I like how much attention to detail you've put into this game. I also liked that I could choose what to do, love those text actions (I also love them in FTL and the Sims, haha) The voodoo dool was cute too :D the constant candle animation and animation of light circle added a lit to the atmosphere! Well done :D From what I understood you did this game alone, so that deserves extra credit! I'd love to see you keep going :) If you do so, please add music, I think with the right one you can really emphasize that atmosphere you've set up!

I'd be happy if you maybe had time to check out our game too, but you'd need a second player for it :D (but you can also play and try it alone, just you're going to win always, haha)

Hearts for Coins by Cubicode 2019-05-03T20:17:59Z

Wow, what a unique idea! I liked it a lot! The graphics are simple and cute. It was just a bit hard and unforgiving for the first level haha, but kept me want to keep going :D The music with it's simplicity and 8bitness fits perfectly. Good job! I feel like you could also make a great puzzle game with this if life doesn't drain over time but much rather every action (step, jump etc) drains energy and you need to think of the perfect amount of actions to complete each level or something like that. either way, well done!

Also, you provided a webbuild, so that's an extra plus lol ^^

I was guilty by volatile-dove 2019-05-03T20:01:42Z

That was cute and definitley interesting. I like the clean and smooth graphics - beautiful! The handwritten notes were also simple and beautiful, overall great pleasant colours. Grat idea as well! Also liked that you have this little 3D island turned into 2D going on. Would have liked it better if you could rotate the island with WASD and walk with the arrow keys or something (btw: WASD didn't worked for walking, but the arrow keys did) -> in case you don't want the player to see the back of the island before he gets there because of surprise/no spoiler reasons, just lock those views and make it rotate-able until the last non-spoiling view - know what I mean?

The controls were somewhat extremely confusing to me, also it wasn't clear where it's possible to go, areas which should have been broad enough to walk didn't work while others that looked super narrow did etc. Also every arrow changes the direction it will follow when the camera moves, that was really anooying tbh - would have preerred it, if up was always go into the player's facing direction etc. If not for the pretty art and me wanting to learn more of the story, I would've quit several times. So maybe fix that and a little more level design to make it clear where it's possible to go and where not. Overall a very sweet and imo succesful entry. Especially for a compo! With a little tweaking you could make this very great I think. Well done!

bird food by kyavi 2019-05-03T22:28:46Z

Such a nice game! It's like a snake clone but adapted :D I really like the giuoltinne idea, that was really special! I didn't QUITE see the "Your life is currency" topic here, but I personally don't care too much about that as long as the game is coo, hehe :) Also it was very challenging to hit the right moment before it's too late/early. graphics were simple and cute. a lot of levels. sounds were cute. music would have been nice :) Overall, a decent entry! :D

LD46 — Keep it alive

Seafood by fatPenguin 2020-05-08T07:32:33Z

@jmad awww thanks for checking out our entry, fellow plant enthusiast! :D Yep, you're completely right, I find it annoying too - but as you've probably guessed it was one of the last things added to our game, poetry that came to life at 2 a.m. xD I think we will add more tutorial levels and gradually split up the text while showing stuff on the map etc :) True, the parents dooooon't really do much yet - other than damage and taking the babies away - but that will become very different, hopefully :D (the levels were created on the last day, before that was pretty much just modeling and coding scripts, haha ^^) We are really eager to improve and continue to work on our little prototype and make it more fun etc - stay tuned :D Thanks abut the itch.io tip! I realized that I stumbled across a bunch of games on there, so it's certainly something to consider O: maybe after the next major update? :D

Thank youuu <3

Flock for Feast by Antti Haavikko 2020-05-06T15:57:49Z

What a fantastic game! Wow! It's very very obvious you've been making games for a long time. I don't even know where to start. The gameplay as well as the graphics are outstanding. Visually this is very strong, on like every level. In game, every little detail you've added also with the UI and all the effects, how the buttons react etc., this looks sooo professional! Also from a graphic design point of view this is fantastic, as with the colour combinations, contrast and shapes this looks great from every distance and therefore made for a really appealing cover image :) I'm amazed you've come up with this amazing artstyle while "only" being a programmer (Oh god, I'm sure that just sounded extremely horrible haha, well you know what I mean, normally those folks are more.. tech oriented ;)) The gameplay is highly addictive so if you say it's some sort of a poor bad knock-off of the original game you did I'd be afraid to never stop playing that one, haha! This game seriously feels soooo polished, I have nothing negative to say..... EXCEPT! I have one HUGE complaint! (Ha, didn't expects that now did you) WHY. THE. HELL. IS. IT. POSSIBLE. TO. DOWNGRADE. YOUR. OWN. HIGHSCORE. Dude. This is so mean D: Beyond mean actually. Just whyyyyyy. My precious highscore T_____T I'll have you know that the Pro Player I am; I managed to beat #1 EASILY and then wanted to play again for the lulz and what happened? I had to sneeze (Corona or something) and now it's GONE! GOOOOONE. Well, and there's no way for you to check if I was lying (...right?) Soooo. Shame on you! Tsk.

Apart from that major flaw though ;) you really did an outstanding job! :D you should seriously publish that on Steam and the Appstore (I feel like this would make a pretty awesome mobile game too, and aasuper addictive one at that, Geometry Dash style) 5/5 would play again

Flock for Feast by Antti Haavikko 2020-05-07T19:58:39Z

@antti-haavikko Oops my bad, then it seems like I've misunderstood things :D (I played all my playthroughs in a row until I was satisified and didn't check the Highscore inbetween those, and for some reason interpreted it as updating it every time) seems like I'm just a dummy, in that case your game is perfect ;D "I guess I’ve absorbed some eye for colors and basic compositions" And a pretty pretty good one at that, this is top notch even for a "real" designer (ugh let's drop that shit, I regret ever bringing it up, haha) You ARE a real designer ^^ Keep making games :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Decisive Battle by Erkberg 2022-04-09T09:53:52Z

Yay, reaction based combat, kind of reminds me of Witcher 1, which I loved :))

The graphics looked nice and I really liked the colour scheme with the blue fog and the black/great trees etc, looked very pleasant! Controls were easy to grasp, Although I wasn't sure why I would jump or duck if I can defend? Because I never managed to dodge enemy attacks like that, maybe I'm just a noob ^^

I wanted to try a pacifist run, but sadly defending always drains HP :D So I would have liked if the perfectly timed "double defense" (so like, pressing the defend button again) would reward me with either no damage taken or even a counterattack :)

Also, it would have been nice to have an UI overlay telling me exactly when’s the right time to press that button, because at first I thought that was meant to be way later :) But we all know time is tight for gamejams, so yeah ^^

I still enjoyed the game and thought it was cool! :) Good job on finishing your game on your own and I believe at the end of the day (or gamejam deadline) we all would like more player feedback ;D

One More Song! by hadesfury 2022-04-11T17:01:11Z

yeaaahhh!! \m/

Hehe. I loved this!! This makes me miss live concerts sooo much :(

I think this is a great point and click game (to the gentleman or lady above: Some might say making snarky comments doesn't equal sword duelling, and here we are.. in a world were IT IS! :P)

I really liked the graphics, so unique, great drawings, great idea and trying to figure out what to do was fun :)

A nice entry! Also liked that you added the help option.

Well done guys!

The Cold Night by Steffo 2022-04-10T15:45:24Z

Currently on my Macbook, unfortunately the MacOS Link doesn't work - since it says untested I'm going to assume you don't have a Mac to build from - Mac Builds only work when built from another Mac - I know, I know.. this been going on for at least 7 years and no fix yet, which is freaking ridiculous.. something about how windows writes files with read/write permission or whatever... honestly it's embarrassing Unity hasn't fixed this by now.

https://forum.unity.com/threads/mac-unity-build-from-a-pc-not-opening-on-mac.947727/

okay, enough of my rant - just so you know :) Will play your game on my windows machine later (Btw: if it doesn't fuck up your lighting (so 2D will always work) you can try to build a WebGL version!)

The Cold Night by Steffo 2022-04-10T17:08:48Z

@steffo hehe oops, I was quick on my Unity hate :) :p (no I mostly love Unity, but come one they're pretty big and this is something you'd think they have fixed ages ago) and we we're also cursing them because we had to build from a Mac, so it's a fresh wound to to say :b

So they could ask mac/windows to work together with them and do some scripting solution idk, it's just insane this has been a problem for so long

The mac builds that work (=built from a mac) also had to be allowed through the mac security thing because unidentified developer, yadda yadda, but I don't even have the option for this :( it just tells me to move it to the bin - I'm assuming it's the same read/write stuff blah (I'm an artist, forgive my ignorance :D)

Jelly Defense by LDP 2022-04-08T15:34:56Z

Awesome game! I love tower defense games and this one really fascinated me, because you don't buy the single towers, place them and thats it, but you rather have 3 different ones which you try to strategically place around all the time and during rounds you buy upgrades.

Really liked that! :) Artstyle was cute and pretty (also loved the cellshading, the details in the background were amazing) and the music was funny.

After level 11 or so I got no more money :( and at a certain point had to basically camp the ice tree and laser at the royal court.

before that my strategy was, the tower defends the palace grounds and the laser goes into battle while the tree serves as a barrier whereever needed :D

a fun, well balanced little game with self explanatory controls! Good job guys!!

Manual Manny! by ghost-in-the-toast 2022-04-10T01:15:11Z

This is so awesome!!

I have no idea how I would get this running in a gameboy, will have to get an emulator 🤔🤔

Ball Boy's Cool Party by BrothersT 2022-04-08T11:04:11Z

HAHAHA!

I love this. This so was so fun and endearing, the visuals were great, simple shapes with clear, pleasant shading and the choice of colours was very good, also the choice of font made this visually very very pretty! The animations were also cute and clean! Really made fully-fledged characters out of these simple shapes!

The convos were fun, the convo choices hilarious and really made you wanting to keep trying. the controls didn't need any explanations at all, I liked the topic and literally everything. My best is so far almost 3 minutes :D

After a while, I tried to hush out that pyramid head as soon as possible because I'm sure all my ballbuddy really wants is watch some Netflix :b

ballboy.jpg

haha! Really good. Don't really have any critique, maybe being able to interact with the environemtn would have been nice :) (and let the player figure that out themselfes, like clicking on the fridge to get the dude a beer or something. or like turn on music or whatever. maybe with an inventory and you can grab something and give him a gift haha.

Good job!

@gnome4 @attala @lisyarus @panwezio Hi there guys and thanks so much for playing our game <3

I understand it can be a bit challenging at first (matter of fact, when I first tried what the code gentlemen have presented to me I was complaining about the very same thing you guys did! haha)

As you all know, that is one downside of a gamejam, no one has time of a proper tutorial :D

I now added GIFs and text that hopefully explain it a bit better and maybe some of you want to give it another try :)

@Janku Yay, you figured it out without tutorial ^o^ we now added a second version where we fixed a bunch of LD conform stuff, also balancing, if you wanna give it a try :))

@EDUDD22 thank you for your interest! I'm trying to do that right now but just realized I havent downloaded the Linux Buuild support while installing Unity, now I have to figure out how to do this ^o^ I'll keep you updated! :)

And thank you guys again! <3

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-05T14:27:50Z

@siskan thanks so much! And you‘re totally making sense ^o^

@zsharpfire thanks for playing! :)

Yep, that can be abused, I already noticed that as well.. 😅 I wanted to add a penalty if you push more than a certain amount of time, but I realized it only today and that’s against jam rules ;)

But according to however long this is gonna take to implement, I might be able to annoy our programmer for a post jam version 😁

May I ask if you still found it difficult like how it’s described in the GIFS? So like if you couldn’t just float around ;) and had to jump and only a bunch of little jumps? :)

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-05T14:44:55Z

Did you aim correctly? does it work with one longer jump and a bunch of quick jumps afterwards while mid-air? :3 (see gif that I added)

We actually made it easier because it was too hard! Also up there are harder sections in the upper parts (of not abusing the floating haha :b) so I think a penslty for abusing would be great. (And technically you have to worry because the supplies will eventually run out haha :))

Thank you again for your feedback! :)

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-05T16:52:00Z

@bottled-up-dark-peace hm. that is weird, I don't have that error? truly weird. might make another build later.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do that, really appreciate it!

Thank you for your advice! I agree with all of it, however, some of it is hard to implement in 3 days time :) We actually wanted like a camera movement from up there and show a meteor or something... yeah.. haha.. plans and gamejams :)

that's a real catch 22 with gamejams: I'd rather spend time on the actual game and mechanics than too much on a tutorial, y'know? (although they ARE important, no doubt!)

I agree on the level design tipp, it starts of waaaay too hard ^^ your summary was spot on though, thank you for taking the time! I will check out your game, it sounds lovely! Love me some Limbo :))

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-07T02:38:44Z

@mtbvibe thank you so much for trying our game :))

May I ask if you found the ingame tutorial I added sufficient enough to explain the mechanics to you or did you still struggle (in a way that made gameplay frustrating)?

Jep, it is like 2 totally different games! :D but aiming is easier on PC! Although I watched 2 streamers play it and the last one was always dragging which made the majority of his attempted jumps fail, guess with gameplay it comes more naturally what to do ;D

Thanks again! Appreciate it! <3

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-07T17:36:00Z

@edudd22 could you test the linux build I did? ^_____^

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-08T09:45:06Z

@mtbvibe ohhh gotcha! yeah, the line gets effected by the post processing effects, namely the depth of field (which is missing in the original version because I forgot to activate it again, lol) but it adds much more readability if the background is blurred :) sadly, all the UI elements were then blurred to, which is why I created an UI camera that culls the rest and the main camera hyving the UI culled, and turned off PostProcessing for the UI cam. sadly when I do that for the line it would be in front of the cat, that's why its blurred ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Interesting! yeah it's like 2 completely different games. I now tweaked the tutorial level again and tried to sell it as a "feature", lol. (But I actually think it's interesting how the controls get different)

Anyway, thanks for playing again :)

@leyamez thank you, dear! :) Hope the controls weren't too tiresome ;D music was done by one of our teammates :) (Chriz) Glad you liked it!

@alexsolonnikovp4 Thank you so much, pal!! Do you mean the tutorial level or the main level? I added the tutorial afterwards because the mechanics were simply too confusing otherwise. I'm glad if it helped!! :) Thanks for playing!

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-08T13:11:33Z

@geoblackru thanks man! :)

@niklas-zhaga Thank you! Although I have to point out I added the tutorial level afterwards, and also activated depth blur for the main level so the interactable platforms are more visible (I already had that in my postprocessing, but forgot to activate it again for the jam build, which literally only takes a second :D So not really any new features but I just wanna be fair and honest - if you're interested about the genuine state of our game after 72 hours, check out the first build :))

Jep, that works as well :D (longer midair jump) (Pssst..: as well as running on the ground to build up acceleration - we wanted our players to experiment a bit and figure out the physics based fun :D

I'm so glad you loved the cat puns, those were my job :') Thank you again buddy! Wish you good luck too :) <3 \*cat-fistbump\*

@LPD Hi there! Great to hear the tutorial could help you understand the mechanic :) (It least that's what I gathered from your comment 8-)) Do you mean when you click it should load up faster? =) we're you playing with MKB or gamepad?

I'm glad you liked it so much! My teammate @chriz did them, the acapella bits etc. were all samples he either bought or that were free to use in non commercial projects afaik, not sure if he will see this so I'll ask him in discord if he has a soundcloud account (or if I can set up a Catronaut Soundcloud account or something :D)

Thanks again! <3

@brotherst ahhh! if the creators of the famous "Ball Boy's Cool Party" likes your game, now THAT is a reason to celebrate!!!! <3 (Bummer that the party is cancelled :/)

Yeppp... chonky is the preferred shape of cat! :D (not the healthiest one according to our vet.. but pfff.. what does SHE know... bet she's never even been to space! pfff.. indeed.)

YEAH totaly get it, that was very ameowsing :D :D and you're actually correct! That IS the correct translation! D: Are you clairvoyent or did you simply study meowish at college?

In any way, thanks for playing our game!! And thanks for reporting that bug D: We have now fixed that issue :3 We also adjusted the balancing again, because ain't nobody got time to play a game for 30 minutes xD more meaningful if death is imminent :D So maybe you want to add a new highscore, hehe :)

Thank you! :) Yeah, that's important, because the original jam version starts with the main level and throws a bunch of text at you and it's very confusing all around :/ but other than that, the main level is basically the same :)) Just pointing out, with the tutorial it took longer than 72 hours, so please don't rate the tutorial ;D

Thank you dude! I'll have you know I did the same to your game because I was LMAO (laughin meow ass off), one of my top 3 favourite entries this jam :))

Cheers!!

@bios3008 ikr! But what can you do ;D

@jcg thank you for playing, we're very glad if you enjoyed it <3 We know about that bug, turns out making physics work 100% in your game is a pain in the asssss and we weren't able to fix that unfirtunately! Erm, what I meant to say is: THAT'S A BUG, NOT A FEATURE! Yummm!! (get it? because cats eat bugs? well, at least mine do! And a portein rich diet is important while in space :3)

... I digress. Thank you for playing and please tell Binx we said hi!

@someone we’re glad you liked it :) Yeah, it's meant to be built around that mechanic and experimenting with it, which admittedly needs some time getting used to. Did you try playing with a controller? Most people say it's easier and more intuitive :) In any case, not every game is everyone's cup of tea, but we're glad you gave ours a try! Thank you <3

@mhorth you have no idea how good it feels to hear that! thanks! I was starting to worry most people don't enjoy the controls as we do, and a lot of time was spent on that so... I'm really glad you enjoyed it!! :) you're absolutely right about the UI of these two things! I think what makes it especially bad is the default unity shape of the rounded rectangle used for the bar inside (the frame is fine I think) although in a perfect world it wouldn't be a bar but a circle filling up, me(ow)thinks :) (like in pikmin!) But you're definitely right, UI and design is important <3

Meow-ch thanks to you for playingggg <3

Hello @steffo ! Oh no, that shouldn't have happened, sorry! -____-° I think I was fixing something and deleted the old link and either forgot to update or the update wasn't registered (does the LD page behave weird on others too?)

Anyway, thanks for wanting to give our game a shot! now it should work, if you want to give it a try!

@conduit Thank you!! We're glad others are enjoying that mechanic too as the gameplay pretty much revolves around that, glad you liked it so much! I'm about to find out about the soundcloud info and get back at you as soon as our audio teammember tells me more :)

@erkberg Thank you again for playing our game live in stream! It really helped! (I already annoyed 3 other streamers about it, so that tremendously helped with providing a tutorial! (That was also the reason I decided to add the tutorial level at all, because otherwise people we're sadly having real trouble with the mechanic :( )

So you really helped meow out there!! :) You'll always have a place in our heart (and highscore list) ;)

I've asked my teammate, but I thinl he took offscreen time for the weekend, so no answer yet, I'll let you guys know :D

Awww, but it's only like 5 additional clicks grandpa! :D hehe nah ich get ya, most people said it's more intutive with a gamepad (jumps are more powerful), so if you've got one you could try again using that if you want :)

Thanks for playing! <3

@asize7shoe Hi there and thanks! I'm glad you liked the character I did :)

Yeah, the level design is a bit extreme hehe, and we didn't have time to check every corner to not have such frustrating things like the one happening to you, I'm sorry you got frustrated, I can understand that :(

Did you play the tutorial version? Just because you said "first section", I'm wondering what exactly you meant by that :) Because I really appreciate your feedback!

Thanks again for playing <3

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-09T17:43:01Z

@elena-s Thank you so much, hun! ^___^

@asize7shoe ohh in that case I understand why you were frustrated! :(

That's why I especially spend the days after the deadline on the tutorial build where there's a tutorial level explaining everything so people won't be frustrated (not really any new features really, just the tutorial, and added highscore list in the menu, and depth of field blur which I forgot to activate in the first build, so the interactable platforms are better to see) maybe you didn't see that? The first build is really, really overwhelming, especially how it starts so people weren't having fun I guess 🙈

However, that being said I'm impressed you still gave it a shot and even returned to try it again, wow! and I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as we do ^_____^ But just so you know - when I first tried it (I'm the artist, so I was presented with it, haha) I was super frustrated too 😄😄

Thanks buddy!! <3

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-10T11:59:32Z

@animalx Meow-cho thanks, mi amigo :)) Glad you liked it! Yep, we did! Although just because it otherwise takes too fucking long and I watched streamers killing themselfes off before.. ^^ which I totally get, who wants to play a 30 min gamejam game, lol, so yeah, I reduced the O2 quantity again :) (We had that in the first build, but there was also a bug that after repairing that not even NOT helped with the oxygen drain, it made it even worse.. lol, so the second build kind of over-balanced that ^^)

Jep, floating feels good right :D I also think this function would have needed more control, like a penality if you jump more than 10 consecutive times while being midair or something, but that we really didn't have time for and thats definitely something for post jam :D (ACTUAL post jam, I still don't consider the Tutorial Version a postjam, although I recognize it technically is ^^)

Thanks again meow friend!! :) And keep your paws away from Craigslist spaceships!! They are clawful :( No meowtter the price discount...

@caudatecoder WOW, thank you so much, I'm so sorry I missed that :(

But you did goooood! :) Thanks for giving it a try so profoundly!

I agree that the level design was a bit very crazy for starting out, our level designer is a psychopath :P just kidding, but as you've said it's easy getting lost in a gamejam and you forget that players don't have the knowledge and skill about your game you aquired while working on it 🤔

Tutorial could have been better of course but for that it's just a gamejam game I did the best I could :) (Font sizes and colours are varied so that you see the most important information first, and can skip through the blahblah story if you don’t feel like reading and still understand what you have to do, which you did :))

Although I still stand behind our gameplay choices and the controls, I think our programmers did an a-meow-zing job with that, I like physics based difficulty (like in Snake Pass or Octodad) ... but yeah, definitely frustrating when you get thrown into level 99, no doubt about that ^^°

But you gotta admit it felt goooood once you’ve reached that platform! :P

Thanks again for playing, I really appreciate it and the feedback was very valueable <3

@ghostofsheriff Thank you thank you!! :) Yep, that floating around needs to be controlled a bit :P In general the idea was that if players play around with the physics based controls and environment and figure out ways/mechanics/shortcuts how to be faster by exploring that they get rewarded for it :D (reach platforms faster, better highscore etc :))

But yeah, floating was a bit too meow-ch OP, but regulating that sadly really wasn't doable in the timeframe :D hehe! Consider yourself a pro for figuring it out, also you found the RED ROCKET, RED ROCKET!!! I knew spending the last hours amongst other things on texturing that was NOT useless because of people like you <3 hehe.

@huitre Thank you! Glad you liked it! Yeah, in hindsight it might have been a good idea to make a very rough model for all the limbs and like bind them to the joints.. (or parent the joints in unity) although not sure there would have been enough time 🙈

@lenny-rudeberg Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) you are right, the difficulty level definitely goes up way too fast, classic gamejam ^^ Still glad you gave it a try :)

@diegofreeman Thanks man! :D it's a cat though, although their snouts look really similar :D

@milan8890 really? wow, we're glad, we really built the game around this mechanic! I'm happy you enjoyed it, thanks for playing :)

@olguinne Wow, thanks for this nice review 🥺 I'm really glad you had fun with our game. And I did the Art and Cat puns sooo.. thanks, hehe. :3

@fromage thank you dude, yeah that was the idea, managing your ressources and be rewarded if you use the mechanic the best was what we wanted to achieve :)

@momo-hunter Thank you thank you! :) Hope you could also enjoy the rest :D

@harksa Thank you for checking out our game!!

haha, yeaaahhh.. although we now figured out by now that the player collission continuity just should have been ticked on or something ^^ But that would seriously be post-jam so we didn't do anything in that regard yet :D Glad you liked it! Cheers :)

@ronanrory thanks for playing! :)

I agree with most of your critique (apart from the puns, but I‘ll get to that :b) but yeah, that was pretty much time induced, but we did the best we could :)

I actually commend you for seeing the lines haha, I realized that pretty soon after submitting and was bummed out, however I really didn’t want to improve that because I urge people to play the tutorial version to get the mechanic and to at least preserve a little bit of fairness for the voting, no features or graphical improvements were added, apart from the tutorial level, jam conforming bug fixes and depth of field blur to not be confused during gameplay (which I already had in the original Game but then forgot to activate with literally one click before building 🤦🏼‍♀️ Gaaah.) so I didn’t wanna push it you know, as I‘m sure people won’t be downloading both versions for rating 0:-)

That is btw caused by bad anti aliasing at the UV seams which for some reason is only noticeable far away or up close!? Gaaaah again. Never trust substance painter, apparently :b

Jup, more time could have been spend on sounds, those 4 we had were added (implemented) pretty much last minute, so definitely there could be more/better player feedback!

Thanks for liking our gameplay :)

About the cat puns (or puns in general for that matter): yeah, not everyone’s cup of tea, I get that, and that’s totally fine. I personally love all puns in a “it’s so silly, it’s funny (and cute)” sort of fashion. Idk. :D (also pretty much banking on the internet’s love for cats, not gonna lie! ^^)

Actually I did the game page after the build was done one hour before the deadline, but I kept improving and updating it all the time 😇 (Video, GIFs especially, changing text according to what I saw when I asked streamers to play our game etc.)

Thank you for your feedback :)

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-17T06:36:14Z

@eggshelldog hey there and thanks for playing :)

Yeah, well you know physics based movement as we implemented it took a lot of time to do and tweak, so that’s were most of the (main) programmers time went to, y’know :3 would have also liked a bit more stuff to do inside of the level, but alas, what can you do :)

The best we we were able to in 3 days :3

Midair Jump definitely could have been regulated a bit (already had a bunch of ideas, like penalties when you jump too often in a row, you need to touch the ground after 10 jumps etc.) but again, no time and that would definitely be a “real” postjam version :)

Thanks again for playing and your feedback, I appreciate it <3

Catronaut by fatPenguin 2022-04-21T18:18:04Z

@bloodycoin Thanks for playing and commenting, I really appreciate it :D

Yep, the level design is kind of crazy alright, I already ripped our level designer a new one for starting out this insanely difficult :b

(that's why I added the tutorial level, people were really frustrated ^^)

Regarding your questions... ummmm.. concerning the physics based technical aspects, my teammate will get back in an own comment :D

Yep, I think the issue is that the line 8and therefore thrust?) isn't constrained inside of a circle but a square I think?

you're right, could definitely be easier, especially considering the level design ^^

However! :) it IS possible to do longer jumps in midair (and always remember to move the cursor with you to not jump back again, which I've seen a bunch of people do while forcing them to playtest, haha) and the little midair jumps are most effective immediately after a long charged up jump from the ground when you still have that.. acceleration? going on

about the longer jumps midair: I personally find it best ti differ between left and right jumps (so like, upper left, upper right, upper left.. if that makes sense?) and not taking too long between those :)

Also: it is way way WAY easier with a gamepad, because the charging happens not with the A button (although you need to press it to get this mechanic started) but with moving the joystick which then makes it very easy.

So M&KB is the "Pro Version" so to say :b

What do you mean by that? :)

"Not possible to keep boosting / vectoring once you charge it, as it’s usually possible to do in space-like travelling games."

Again, thanks dude! <3

Floody Hell by OursBleu 2022-04-11T17:55:40Z

Wow!!! That was seriously so much fun!! I played till Mission 5 I think, but will definitely play some more later :))

I really dig this! The ghosts are unique and funny, the civilians are cute polite crocodile Sirs, and LOL the choice of voicing is absolutely brilliant! The dry AI is already gold, but the unimpressed, dry british voice while potentially being killed literally made me LOL.

Reminded me of the most British Car Crash ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0269wu--2w

^^ gameplay was real fun, I liked the enivornments a lot, this is a shooter I can definitely get on board with :))

Would love to see a post jam version where you can also maybe change your weapon modus into sniper? The crossbow is fun, but it shoots in a arc and has a restricted range, but like, either that costs something, and/or you can also shot civillians with it if you're not careful (so fail), or restricted ammunition so it doesn't get too easy

Also, a kind of "quest marker" like in skyrim would be great :) (Rather than a map, so you still have to figure out where exactly they are with a radar kinda thing)

Being able to shoot the civilians to get them to fucking make haste had me LMAO.

Really a good job, and please tell me those British voices were yours, lol

Floody Hell by OursBleu 2022-04-11T18:21:43Z

@oc1d no worries, it's a really a cool entry :)

Ohhh.. I didn't get that at all and I didn't even try 🙈 which I'll have to do :D

Will charged up shots kill civilians? (I think I read something about that...? Or heard it? That I can do this to like flush them out, but be aware of something, I think. Which would be a good balancing IMHO :))

Ikr, it's sooo good ^^

Best of luck for the ratings mate :)

Lol, I loved this!!

First of all, PEEEENGUINS. Gotta try this out (check out the name of our "game studio" and you'll understand ;D)

I love the penguin meshes, the boss looks hilarious and the run animation is straight up hysterical. Good job on that. The penguins also looked really cute!

The old dude reminded of the Penguins of Madagascar episode where Private is about to be sent to the moon, lol.

I really like the variety of all the actions and the added difficulty of the street :)

One question: did I solve the last quest correctly? ^^

PenguinJobGame.jpg

Because how else would I do that? Throw something on the street? Okay don't tell me, I wanna figure it out myself, I just noticed there's multiple endings!! haha!! This gives me Untitled goose game vibes, I love it!

Grea job guys :)

Into The Light by Yorsh 2022-04-07T17:51:05Z

This is such a minimalistic masterpiece! SO Pretty! (I know your game from the stream, I was the one obsessing with the bulb! ;D)

Its a fun mechanic, and the mosquitos look sooo cute (which in itself is a miracle lol)

A really cool prototype :)) adding a score or something or objectives would be really cool I think!

Very VERY impressive for a compo!

Shades of Deception by AMastryukov 2022-04-21T16:51:44Z

Finally managed to get back to this and I'm glad I did, this is amazing!! I LOVE detective games!!

Wow, a really splendid job you guys did there, I actually had a lot of fun playing this :)

I'm amazed you have voice acting, which is sooo important for this kind of game genre, where characters matter so much! Are those voices you guys? :) It's really cool you can choose two player characters too!

I loved the cartooney texturing look, gave it a cell shading style, this looked like a Telltale game on a tight time budget ;D Like what would happen if they participated in a gamejam :D

The graphics looked nice and together with the music and especially voice acting added much to the mood. Portraying the characters like that was a very clever idea of saving time on rigging and animating which takes forever and still having characters and really fit well with the cartooney/drawn overall look, I also loved the contrast in the colours with the subjects, kind of added a Sin City feel, idk.

Some bugs/stuff I stumbled over but given what you've accomplished no biggie, still letting you know: (maybe you wanna do a postjam version :))

1. the camera on the second crime scene sometimes was a little weird and you could only go left, which I fixed by running in a circle

2. sometimes during investigation the tabs weren't selectable anymore (that's actually where I'm stuck rn, at the crime boss interorgation)

3. do some evidences just pop up after a certain time, or am I just unbelievably blind? ^^ Because the first crime scene took me so long haha, and I was stuck on the car for so long trying to get it, so maybe a little hint to first secure the crime scene would have been nice :) (But for a gamejam, completely fine like that)

I liked that you can look at your notes during investigation and actually would like more games to have this!

All in all a great job and impressive amount of content you guys we're able to squeeze into your entry in only 3 day's time! Good job!

Mia's Bear Service by Lumous 2022-04-15T13:17:44Z

A truly cute, adoreable game! :))

Loved the music haha, reminded me of old Disney cartons somehow

I also loved how when you picked up a moustache the player was wearing it as a moustache :D

I really like organizing games and the assets were adoreable and fun :) I just hate this jam's theme so every game ends frustratingly because you will lose T____T (Ours too, haha ^^)

What would have been cool is if you would have been able to dash, and have a little inventory to take, say 2 things (for example when you have to grab a watch far away and you already see two bears need that) so you get rewarded for planning ahead (and when you stock up on the wrong stuff you have to throw it on the floor and it gets confusing) dashing would have also been cool :) Or maybe a little speed buff immediately after finishing a bear, but I assume those things would have been a little too much for a jam considering it's so little time ^^

I enjoyed this, good job :)

Calm Retreat by antoined73 2022-04-08T16:34:36Z

Awww a cute game with a fat, adoreable cat? Gotta check that one out, that's for sure! :D Maaaahhh.. look how well my buddy did, found some fishz ^___^

catfish.jpg

A very cute and indeed calming experience :) I just wish I found out more about the little buddyyyy :(

The scenery was so pretty and I really loved how the daytime changing :)

Nice job! <3

Gummy Fear by EasyLuckyGem 2022-04-10T03:50:55Z

**THE CLAAAAAWWWW.... :O**

Haha, what a fun idea, I really like the Jigglypuff gummybears :D so cute!

What a fun way of pitting you against your comrades "TAKE THEM, NOT ME" :P

Also had a lot of silly "deer in the headlights" moments where I panicked and did exactly what got me grabbed by the mean lady xD

The graphis are adoreable, cute animations and I liked the little sweet countdown you added!

Thas my best score so far :) Screenshot 2022-04-10 at 05.47.12.png

What would be cool would have been a Battle Royale mode - try to be the last gummybear standing :D

Good job, especially for a single person!

Later... by Kizu 2022-04-16T16:30:22Z

Finally came back and played this!!! And wow! I don't regret it!

First of all.. loved the programming. Finally I can feel like Neo from Matrix too, hehe.

Without having to learn a single function! Turns out Hello World was enough all this time. Who knew?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msX4oAXpvUE

Hehe. I also really liked the general idea and vibe, so meta!!

Graphics were unbelievably cute and I can't believe you made such a nice game with great lighting for WebGL T___T

It looked just so cute and precious! <3

Also, because it's a gamejam, I wanted to get this b*tch done, aaaaand...

gamejamGame.jpg

Yeahhhh! Take this! hehe.

Controls were very intuitive except maybe the first but where it said "Smash the keyboard", because I thought I need to do that to continue (while it was click to make the message go away and then do that) So having a little thing indicating you have to click to remove that, and X button or simply making the window close itself upon h8ck1ng would have been nice :) (but I figured it out either way)

Great entry, basically 5 stars all around from me! Good job, guys!

P.S.: Of COURSE fanficition saves the day.. that's a no brainer! :D

Turbo Toilet Tomfoolery! by RonanRory 2022-04-16T15:47:26Z

Hey there, congrats on finishing your game! :)

First of all, fun idea - the controls are a bit hard to grasp, so adding a little strategy guide might have been nice (even if it's just a text on the game page) but I understand the time is tough with gamejams and it can be a little overwhelming, also with working alone I can imagine! (I can't code, so I never did this ^^ so kudos to you!)

After a little try and error I got the hang of it - there definitely could have been better controls assigned to make it more intuitive - or like a little UI thing indicating like the balance of the player and indicating where exactly he is steering to - but that being sad, I get it, we also started our level way too hard and nobody got the controls - hence why I added a tutorial level the days after the deadline, so I totally feel you, haha.

We also tend to forget that we just worked 72 hours on this thing and are pros at it - and the players are not :)

Again, a fun concept, you can proud to have finished this :)

The Last Days of RIPLEY 9000 by Human Writes Code 2022-04-11T16:20:05Z

ripley_close.jpg

So. Freaking. CLOSE. NOOOOOO T____T Ripley doesn't feel so good :(

A cute, fun entry! Really like that little cute, robot, like Wall-E's cousin :)

An adoreable robot who tries to fight against the inevitable is simultaneously so cute, inspirational and depressing, lol.

Great take on the topic :) I liked the gameplay! Because the robot is not the fastest you have to carefully plan your trip and remaining resources, so while loading Ripley I kept checking the environment for the closest nodes and made careful calculations about the best route :3 (Obviously unsuccessful in the end :( )

graphics look pleasant to the eye and I liked the harvesting animation with the little laser ray and everything

Things that could have been improved but I assume that simply wasn't possible because of the well-known tight deadline in Ludum Dare:

Traveling: Sometimes there's not much to do because ripley travels and you just have to wait which can become a bit boring, but I totally get that this is something too much to implement in a gamejam. If you would have had enough time, you could maybe like implement a little "minigame", like every few step there is a prompt and the player quickly has to press a button and either gets a pentality of hes too slow or misses it (stumbles/loses a resource, or a variety of possible outcomes and that gets a dice roll or something), and if he does it right, gets rewarded by a little hop forward or something :)

Introduction Screen: would have liked if you'd set up a little scene (just duplicate the scene you already have, point the main cam towards an interesting spot, place ripley there, give him an animation controller that just loops the animation you deem look the best) and but like a hovering sci fi box somewhere (so leave some empty space in the image, might delete some assets) and this already looks nicer and if you put the 3 nodes there player can already look at them :)

All in all, splendid gamejam entry - congrats on finishing your game guys!

The Last Days of RIPLEY 9000 by Human Writes Code 2022-04-22T12:37:22Z

Cool stuff!

Would be great to buy upgrades (for example Ripley being able to dash, carry more, or move faster in general) for the ressources (and then you have to like ponder and make up your mind if it's worth the risk, how much will you usw - risk vs. reward type stuff :)

No Time To Leave by Attala 2022-04-07T12:23:09Z

Wow!! What an EXTREMELY good job for a comp entry!! Well done!

This has so much it almost feels ridiculous to list things that could have been better because how the hell would you have been able to add even more :D

Felt really nice! The robots gave me a good scare sometimes lol.

If you continue to work on it (oh yes, that's a good wording :b) an indicator where the stations are would be nice :) Like a little quest marker/radar and you have to figure out the rest (skyrim-ish)

The mechanic that you can only hold one object added a fun element! Maybe that would also need an UI thing in the future, pointing out the location ;D

Robots could use a bit more variety, like if you're a skilled player and manage to hit certain parts you don't need as much hits or something :) (Like if you would show how many damage a hit dealt that would feel really good I think!)

All in all very good job, hope your proud of yourself :) (That just sounded really sarcastic, lol.)

Cubic Defence by LeYamez 2022-04-08T10:05:39Z

qwefwef.jpg

A cute tower defense game!! It took me a while to fully grasp it, but then it was immense fun! (and before that it wasn't super frustrating or anything :))

Have to say, I was clicking at a tree (or rock) and then waited because I thought that's the time it needs to mine the resource, I didn't understand those are cooldowns and you're supposed to run around and click like crazy collecting wood and rocks (which was fun ^^) I would recommend you add that line to your description, really like "you're supposed to run around all the time and click on resources to gather them, they are immediately gathered, the countdown is a cooldown before you can harvest from that resource again" or something like that :)

The minimalistic graphics are very pleasing to the eye (cube with eyes was supercute and the colours are pleasant) plus the soft music was adoreable too and fit to the rest. Enemy cubes looking grim would have been funny too :D :D

Lastly, these are all sprites I'm gonna assume? I'd recommend you do a web build also, so more people will play (people are lazy haha.) We unfortunately don't have a webbuild because if you don't lightbake it's gonna look horrible because indirect realtime light isn't supported in WebGL 2.0, bur for 2D it's fair game :)

Also, having the current Score shown ingame would have been cool, but I know how gamejams are :)

A very nice entry, you can be proud of yourselfes. Well done, guys!

Taxapocalypse by Harksa 2022-04-16T17:08:43Z

Yaaay, 94 years! \m/

Really a fun, straightforward game, I actually quite enjoyed playing this! can totally see this as either a smartphone game or a minigame inside a bigger game (like you know how they have those in Bioshock or Fallout for Hacking)

Ngl though, the theme gave me PTSD... accurately depicts what taxes are.. FROM HELL! xD

Really liked this. at first I was a dummy and just like put the stamps on the forms and let them stand, later on I figured just move them over the field and you're good (which even made gameplay fun, because then you have the added (fun) hassle of having to avoid the incorrect fields while moving the stamps)

One big issue I had is that sometimes I couldn't see the stamps colour, so maybe just colour the whole stamp in the respective colours :)

All in all, a real fun entry and great take on the theme! :)

Very nice job for a single person!

Pyre by Foursay 2022-04-16T16:00:58Z

WOW. Just. WOW.

pyre.jpg

I loved this! What a gem! This felt like you buy a lite version of a "real" game on steam where you only get to play bits of the game or something ^^

Where to begin. Graphics. Sound. Atmosphere. Perfect. Basically 5 stars all around.

The choice of font was perfect and from a graphic design point of view sooo satisfying (after gamejams I'm so sick and tired of damn Arial... ^^)

The story was, although cryptic and short very touching and.. haunting?

Amazing. The part about your past etc. gave me a bit Detention vibes (great Taiwanese Game!) also a bit Limbo, but not as in a clone, something very much unique!

At first I was a bit annoyed that you have to constantly click, but then I liked how it added to the urgent and inevitable feeling (so maybe adding a little "click" indicator - like a cursor animation that constantly clicks and then like the word click animated (so to indicate, hey, you have to click more often) would have been nice :)

Also, the text should be a liiiittle bit more in the mid of the screen I think - there is space and otherwise it was a bit too high up there and I sometimes almost missed stuff.

But that's very nit-picky - I loved it, really! Good job guys! Gave me goosebumps :)

Wicked flame! by Kaldrin 2022-04-11T19:18:11Z

This game is SO AWESOME!! This deserves more ratings!! Your smart balance is good, So I really think you should do more blog posts to show off your awesome game! :) (and still play, rate and comment, as that always helps ;D)

Where to being.. graphics! Phantastic! I really like this kind of vintage disney-esque but also unique look, the animations were sooo cute, the music was very well chosen and this is one of the best gameplays I have seen in all this jam!

Soooo well done guys! I'm currently stuck in the level with the maze and the 4(5?) switches and fire plates everywhere, haha.

I really don't know anything you could improve, this is so amazing

Gameplay - CHECK Graphics - CHECK Sound - CHECK Checkpoints - CHECK :))

Also the Level design is soo great, I really loved how you introduced new features and threats to the player in a save environment, thats top notch game design!

That's something gamejam games raley manage \*cough\* we had to add a tutorial level afterwards \*cough\*

So indeed, very well done guys!!

Trauma Center (futile medical care edition) by LoicLeGrosFrere 2022-04-08T15:58:07Z

fawfeasfsd.jpg

That was my best result so far :) (I did find the euthanesia syringe in a run before, but thought that was bad, because less moneeeyyyy)

Funny take on the topic, I like exploring rooms, you even provided a bit outdoor exterior :)

Wish the interact button would have been left-click, but ah well, it still worked fine :)

I liked how you delay a patient dying by a nuclear apocalypse xD

I didn't really figure out how the green and red syringes work, I know there's the screens up there with the respective values, but I guess I was just dumb :)

2 things about the graphics:

1. I would set the edges of the syringes to smooth edges (unless you want that "lowpoly look")

2. for the flowers: you need to set the shader to "cutout" to have the alpha being cut away :) Put the smoothness map into the metallic alpha instead (and choose metallic alpha instead of albedo in the dropdown menu) (smoothness maps (that are inverted roughness maps) in most of the shaders have to be in the alpha channel of either the albedo or metallic map. so open one of these maps in photoshop and copy the smoothness map into the layer mask (by alt clicking, you can switch to show mask in photoshop)

In your case, you need the alpha information fur cutting away the stuff from the flower, therefore metallic alpha as smoothness information :)

Just in case you didn't know (I didn't a couple of year ago and thought that whole stuff was pretty shitty to find out ^^)

if you don't have a smoothness map either turn the smoothness of the material to zero or if you want some shine create a metallic mapwith an alpha channel (meaning with a layer mask) that is the same one from the albedo map, otherwise the transparent parts will still shine and it will look weird. (so make a metallic map, just paint bucket the whole thing and use a relatively dark colour, if not black (because flowers arent really metallic ;D) and then give the layer a layer mask and post the alpha of the albedo into it.)

oh, and obviously you need a file format with transparency information to store all that onformation otherwise it wont work :) all my maps are .jpgs, unless they have channel information (then .png) to save space :)

Cheers and congrats on completeing your game guys!

Neon Meltdown by Milan8890 2022-04-11T16:44:19Z

A nice game, enjoyed playing it for a good 10 minutes :)

Definitely a challenge but normal for gamejam standards (no time to develop casual starting levelshaha, I'm one to talk ^^)

Just that "very easy bar" in the top left was mocking me, I thought I did pretty good in the end and it STILL said very easy - grrr :P

Graphics were simple and nice, good to read!

While playing it's important to remember to upgrade - piercing 2 enemies is bae btw - I assume that feature fell victim to the deadline, but getting some sort of notification about an available deadline would be a nice addition :) Like a sound, maybe

The feedback for shooting enemies is nice! Makes you wanna return and play more :)

And jepppp - in the beginning I was definitely hogging the edge too much and dying all the time xD you just gotta step up your shooting game ^^ (that felt really nice btw!)

Good job, guys :)

Seed Of Time by theStoff 2022-04-21T19:54:03Z

This is an amazingly polished and well done game!

The mechnaics feel very good and I like the teleport mechanic a lot! I just played for 10 minutes now because I wanted to rate and comment - but wow! This game is gorgeous together with the animations, the title illustration is stunning and I love those Demogorgon enemies (I'm just going to call them that ^^)

Really a very good, impressive job, feel like this needs to be further worked on and put on Steam :))

basically 5 stars all around.

Extremely Exteme Sports by kuviman 2022-04-21T17:58:17Z

This was sooooo much fun!!!! <3 I really loved it!

The controls fel't very good and I felt like I was actually skiing again, lol.

The social component with this was fantastic <3 :)

A very well done job!

I'll have you know I'll play this with my discord friend group (which will be fun for ONCE because they always wanna play CS :PPP)

This is a perfect example how a good gameplay together with charming programmer art makes a perfect game <3

I think you will continue with this, so please add more emotes, and maybe add the heads of all characters (maybe together with the name) in a corner so I can make a reaction even when I'm dead :D

A very fun, addicting little game! Well done!

🚀 Rocket Drifter by polarcube 2022-04-21T17:15:26Z

That was fun, although I was bad, but I will keep trying :D (I was just trying for 5 minutes because I wanna rate some more games before the deadline :3)

Challenging mechanic, but feels rewarding when you hit something :)

I just wish it was a liiiiiittle easier, maybe you should be able to rotate the ship a BIT with the mouse? (like superslow so that it wouldnt make sense to rotate with the mouse only, but oftentimes I missed the ships by a little bit only, and together with having to consider how W and S works it was a little too challenging for me :)

it was still a fun game!

graphicwise simple and solid with a cute ship :) I wish the font wasn't so blurry, I get that you probably wanted to compliment the pixel art, but I thing a pixel style font with clear edges would have done a better job

(for example anything from here https://www.dafont.com/de/bitmap.php)

Just download it, put the .otf or .tff into your project folder, chose the font and DONEEEEE (edit: okay, I'm using Unity, but this has to work for Godot as well? I might be a bit nit-picky but I'm so sick of tired of Arial and the like in every gamejam considering how little time it takes to use a decent font ^^)

A very awesome entry for a single person, congrats! :)

Inevitable Greenery by Apandso 2022-04-16T15:27:00Z

What a lovely little entry! I loved exploring this charming world (I love exploration games, as well as narrative ones, and you delivered both, which I can only highly commend! Well done!)

Especially loved the environmental storytelling bits everywhere: pandagame.jpg Loved all those carefully placed little notes and characters! It was a clever choice to tweak the pandas body to make more species (cat, rabbit,...) to give this even more variety.

The world was cute and pretty. As an artist I have to critizise a liiiiittle thing about the main character, which is the face texturing of the panda pattern, I would have liked it better if you used a clean, hard brush (so no softening around the edges) and used symmetry on the face :) (the panda is still very cute, but I think that would have made him even better)

Take this with a grain of salt, the texturing of our main character also wasn't perfect because I had no time to fix seams, so yeah... haha, gamejams, amirite?

The green was a liiiiittle bit too saturised for my taste, I think a more gentle, soft pastell green would have complimented the dreamy look of your world even better :) Also, the shadows were a liiiittle bit too dark for my taste (but that's all very nit-picky, I know that there isn't alot of time during game jams and you're glad if you even accomplish half of what you've planned etc. ^^)

I'm way less familiar with Unreal than with Unity, but if it's the same thing there you might want to look into Light Baking (in Unity you also have to do ith with realtime light, but it's quick) and Post Processing Effects to make your beautiful game even more beautiful :) (I love post processing effects - basically an instagram filter for your game, lol)

The level design was very interesting and well built and made me want to explore!

A few things that I understand probably simply wasn't possible in the gamejam's short amount if time, but would polish this immensely (if you wanna continue working on this)

-UI Elements would have been better as an overlay, sometimes they were sticking inside of the assets and I couldn't fully read

-add a little UI element to each plant indicating how much water they need (maybe divide it into parts, and for example your little watering pot can carry 2 parts of water, little plants need 1 part, the big plants need 3 parts, so you can fill it up partially or something like that, could add a fun element of planning your trips)

-loved the cut scene when you we're on the tower! Really great. (also with the radioactive tower - really great!) it just kept playing whenever I moved a little keeping me from entering the platform and being stuck on the "stairs" (plant) I tried to be patient but gave up after a couple of tried because I grew a little tired of watching the same 30 sec cutscene every time and gave up, so maybe set the trigger to play the cutscene only once (and maybe also add a skip cutscene function)

-maybe playtest a bit more and hide/clip certain meshes when the player is inside somewhere, as they can obscure your view and be a little annoying

But again, I totally understand that with what you've done this was a lot to do and simply wasn't possible to do in 3 days :)

All in all a very adoreable, fun entry that I enjoyed playing. you can be proud of yourselfes! :)

NeedyMonsters by Snory 2022-04-07T14:27:59Z

I liked it! Although sadly The upper and bottom part of the UI was cut off :( Which really kept me from knowing how much money I have lol, I think if I would have been able to see that I would have known my way around the game a bit better :3

But I like organisation games like that :D Also props to the Start Screen and the logo ;)

The music was cute too :)

Oh the ingame tutorial!! Too quick! ;) No one reads that fast ^^

Good job on finishing your game :))

Tick by ChewieCB 2022-04-07T12:58:06Z

What a nice entry!

Cool idea and fun concept. criticising lousy healthcare is always gold.

The controls felt both good and a bit frustrating, I have to say I'm not the biggest fan of Player oriented controls, with that I mean that when you press left it is the players left and not how most player's are used to, the world's left (so like on the screen) I feel like if you could adjust that I could play this for hours :) (We once did this ourselfes with an entry on a past gamejam, so I could still make it work :) but there I also learned that most players prefer the directions to be world, or rather, screen oriented, because they're used to it and it feels more natural)

Visually it was very clear and easy to read, leveldesign was fun, the objectives we're easy to understand :)

Music was a BANGER! Awesome!

All in all, a great entry, congrats! :)

Ultimate Mushroom Damocles Revenger by Snowirbis 2022-04-21T16:11:34Z

mushroom.jpg

yeahhh!!! 8-)

A cool & fun little game!

Love the premise and the graphics are great and clean, the mushroom is very cute yet badass 8-)

(amazed by all the assets you guys came up with, this looks so polished and the colours/lighting post processing looks so nice and I LOVE the volumetric light. how did you guys do that? Did you buy an asset from the store?)

The music was a straight up banger! I loved this kinda geometry dash concept (while being different from geometry dash, but I mean as in you having to remember/learn the pattern and it fitting to the music!)

I loved the bossfight and the credits, the art definitely is amazing :)

The beginning was kind of hard for me, so I had my boyfriend take over after a few tries, haha!

Probably no time during the jam, but if you continue to work on this, it would be nice if you had more feedback as in indicating where the knife will come down, maybe a sign on the floor where it will hit next (or like the shadow growing taler or something, like in that one pokemon stadium minigame if you're familiar?) and in general more player feedback than in the jam version would be nice for every entry, right? ;D

Awesome game! Congrats guys :)

Cat in the Bag by JoshH 2022-04-11T10:26:52Z

YAY, ANOTHER CAT GAME :3

This was really cute, a nice idea, I really liked the graphics and animations of the kitty, so cute 🥺 Also, the old cat bard narrator, lol so cute and funny.

A really nice, fun game! Good job guys!!

Here's a bunch of little things I would love to see if you were to continue to work on it :) (but just minor things, really impressive content for only 3 days!)

Okay, here goes:

1. I would make Demos way bigger, like scale him all the way up (with a padding to the sides obviously :)) but next to all the items so he is more visible, since he's the main character, extremely cute and from time to time you realize you haven't looked at hime for a while :3 2. It would be nice if the text animations were skipable, some of us read quite fast ;D (so not skip the entire text, but just the writing animation) 3. Upon prompting to choose an Item, it would be nice if the current situation would get a little summary instead of just "choose an item" for example: What kind of item are you giving Sir Spaciouspants (hilarious btw lol) to defeat/distract/get away unharmed from the cannibal shorthair llamas?" or something like that :) 4. Although the stories were really charming and cute, I feel like there could be a liiiittle more context with the items chosen :) So like maybe add a bunch of hints within the story so the player must be a little Sherlock to figure things out (this probably is a bit hard to do with a gamejam deadline) 5. Minor UX thing, but: I would start with 1 and not 0, since zero is next to 9 :3 6. Would have loved if new items would have popped up (whenever the story said they did) you probably just didn't have time for this, but it would be so cool if you continued to work on it and then there's even more routes :D 7. it would be really cool, if there maybe was a change of scene (so like a drawing of, say, the mountains or something) to get a bit of a glimpse of the outside world :) think that would be really cool in that cute drawing style

btw, I really loved the FMA and Shovel knight references, hehe. (or did I just imagine that? xD)

well done team :)

The Maze of Swineston by LucaVazz 2022-04-16T17:02:09Z

A really fun concept! I liked it very much :) I feel like this has much potential, as a huge control freak, I'm obsessed about games where I have the overview and need to organize and control everything (FTL, PvZ, Sims,...)

so that checked all my boxes! The characters were cute and funny. especially the robot penguin T___T I wished this was in the 3D Minecraft look featured in the title screen and when you zoom in you can see that \*____\*

Gotta say I had a hard time figuring out what to click first (and I started out with clicking the walls because the tutorial said so haha but eventually I figured it out (not gonna rate you on that and I think it stupid of people do that - this is a gamejam and I time is best spent working on a GAME... although yeah of course it's important you players understand what they're doing, but I also think fellow gamedevs should be more understanding then the average player and give it more time to figure it out, so yeah)

if you continue to work on this, you definitely need to make the intro skipable (or like you know, the next part shows up if you press a button, then there's a button to skip altogether etc.) because at first I was confused (I read quite fast) and thought I had to click on the X ^^

The things to buy from the store (how I'm gonna call this now :)) were quiet varied, so good job on that. I didn't understand why certain things can only be used once, either mark them that way, or make me able to remove them afterwards :)

I think the world could have been a little smaller, but the players also able to walk in the whole aisle and not like just the set path :) (Something for postjam, maybe?)

Healthbars would have also been nice :)

At one point, all my monsters got stuck in one place and didn't fight anymore, those lazy bastards :(

pig_dungeon_game.jpg

All in all a fun game with cute and funny assets :) Good job, guys!

Demon Wins Everytime by MacabreArtGames 2022-04-08T10:49:25Z

A very cool entry!

I really really REALLY would have liked if the controls we're mapped to the screen and not in the way the character looks, which is just way more intutive and also the way players know it! (Having done so myself in a gamejam once, I came to find out everone does that once and then never again, haha!)

Still, avery good entry :) I liked that you could see the demon and his reaction all the time, that really keot the story going! I also loved the voice acting and the drawings of the skills, the scene looked minimalistic but pretty :)

Music was very fitting and set the mood well!

Overall, good job guys!!

Good Boy eats the treat. by RobbzenOne 2022-04-10T03:42:00Z

A very cute entry! Graphics looked so good, doggo animation adoreable and that player character lol - I love it when ordinary objects get a cute makeover ^^

The concept was fun and the amount of actions and objects to interact was good and well balanced - not too much to remember but also not boring, stink bubble was fun lol - I really like that you don't get eaten right away, I can see that you put effort in balancing that!

- what I would improve on the gameplay is the following: The way the level is set up - how fast the doggo/game moves, the distance and frequency of obstacles etc. - makes this something where you have to react fast, especially because there's some sections where it's jump or die, but for this game the player jumps too long and slow to meet the level demand imo.

I think if his gravity was higher (he falls down faster) and if you could control the intensity of the jumps - for example press long: higher jump with longer "jumping arc", quick press and a fast jump or something like that (maybe even control the gravity when falling down somehow? So reward pro playing :)) - I think this would at least double the fun :)

Maybe something to consider for the post jam version :) This was in any case brilliant, you can be proud of what you accomplished in such a short amount of time! Good job, guys!

Vomit Pussy by Alopar 2022-04-11T16:30:49Z

Nice cute kitty game! I liked how they looked, lol really sweet!

Sadly the gameplay left me no room for checking out the environment with all the stuff you added ;(

Yeah yeah, I get it, gamejam.. ^^

Controls were very intutive and music was good!

I would have liked if there were 2-3 more actions that you have to rotate, but I suppose time was tight :)

Just.. did you hire the same game title author like the team from the Sexy Brutale dude?!

Because that guy needs to be fucking STOPPED lol.

Those kind of names are seriously a bad choice and will shoo player away from your game that otherweise expects something else ;P also with the neon sign animation - cool animation! But might give off a wrong vibe to people, idk about that :) (didn't count that into the ratings, just my 0.02$

Congrats on your game! :)

Screenshot 2022-04-07 at 19.56.20.png

A cute game! I really like the lizard illustration. Combining the people placement felt good when I was able to make him roll upwards, wish there were more combo moves :) (or maybe I didn't find out?)

Or maybe like a shop where you can buy something for the souls :)

Anyway, a nice entry, good job guys!

Yarr me shippey by Labete 2022-04-21T17:07:18Z

I think I.. won? :D

pirategame.jpg

A fun entry! Reminded me of FTL, which I love.

I liked the mechanic to roll dices, definitely has potential, is a bit confusing at first (but that is standard for any sort of remotely complex mechanic introduced in a gamejam game, really ^^)

I played the bugfix version btw :)

Music was fun and fit the topic!

I feel like the luck could be a bit better with rolling the dice, normaly I'm a lucky gal in Witcher for example ;P

A fun game! Would definitely like to see this polished for a postjam version :) Good job guys!

Etiquette by MikoziQ 2022-04-16T16:19:21Z

Cool Game! :D Finally something providing me with much needed vindication from my humiliation in the Windwaker post office ^^

In honour of this LudumDare I played until the shown number ;)

spellinggameboxes.jpg

Was a cute, fun game. Spelling games aren't new to me since I participate in LudumDares but this one was especially nice executed, just felt really nice enetring those countries :)

(I also liked that it's actual words and not gibberish ^^)

Seeing the parcels in the upper row first gave it a nice touch! The minecraftian graphics looked good and give it a clear image, colours were also nice :)

This could be a great typing/geography learning game for schools ;D

I have to say the super long tags... good idea, but simply impossible for me! I understand that you can see it as soon as it enters the labeling area as I'm gonna call it and then you have time until the parcel leaves that area, for the long words this sadly is simply too short I think, maybe there should be a scanning area (in the upper row, perhaps?) where you can already see the label?

Also, I was a bit torn about not seeing the labels as soon as you type - because although I wanted to see them it also was a nice gameplay mechanic that you have to remember - so maybe players can toggle it and get a bit less points or after a certain time it gets toggled?

Would also workd great as a learning game to like show the flags and you have to type the name of the country :D (RIP me, if you ever do that haha, I suck in geography! ^^ but gamification of things, especially learning is in the rise, so who knows? :))

A very cool entry, especially for one person, maybe you can add a bit sounds like a cute 8bit music and player feedback sounds :) Good Job!

Save the sun by Kongo 2022-04-07T10:31:50Z

Finally managed to get back to my LD games backlog ;D

Awesome entry! The art really looked amazing, liked the cutscene and the death animation :) It's a fun concept! controlling the spaceship is a bit confusing at first, I narrowed it down to 2 reasons: 1. you don't control the spaceship with screen orientation how most players are used to but rather in which direction the ship "looks" (I figured that out pretty quickly because we've once done a jam entry with exactly the same thing and I know that it can confuse people ^^) 2. I personally would prefer if the ship didn't rotate too much when just pressing "go forward", although it might be fun if it weren't combined with the "player view orientation", so maybe add a version where you move the direction in which the player looks with WASD and then like space or something for adding fuel? Just an idea :) Would love to try that, so if you do that, tag me!

The mechanic to rotate with the meteor to build up acceleration was really intuitive, I liked that! And when I managed to throw the meteor into the sun it felt really good! :)

I really liked how you can heal yourself at earth and get upgrades etc. that was a fun mechanic!

What would have been very nice is additionally to the radar an arrow indicating where the sun is and maybe a little screen at the edge alwyys showcasing the sun (so you can see the explosions even if you're farther away for positive player feedback)

All in all a cool entry! You can be proud of yourselfes :)

Cyber Skater by Syafire 2022-04-07T14:51:33Z

I was on your stream and found out about the game, it's a fun concept! Pretty intuitive and kiting those alien B***** felt really good ;) I liked the artwork, the colour scheme was really good too! (with the green as the dominant colour)

Would have been cool if the player sprites where floating a bit up and down to indicate its a hoverboard, but now I'm just nitpicking :D

The music fit very well to the game :) Good job everyone!!

Bee Rescue by DmitryGalias 2022-04-16T21:17:19Z

A very very cute game, I saw it on the stream :)

It's hard to beat but fun while trying to do so :)) Not sure about the right strategy yet hehe (I tried twice for 15 min), but I will find out ;) :)

The graphics are very cute and there's anot of variety while not being too complex. it's also good you implemented the info button inside of the game so player's don't have to tab out for the explanation :)

Lastly, I also really liked what you did with the theme! (I hate the theme.. 99% highscoregames lol)

But I liked that you can actually win in this :) Good job!

Somnipathy by Cyzaine 2022-04-07T14:43:23Z

Lol, this was really good!

I loved how at the end it said that I won, that had a really nice touch xD

Also a very creative take on the topic :) Everyone knows that feeling when you're being super tired and like getting DRAGGED to sleep! Visualizing that by a creepy Lovecraftian creature felt very fitting! :) (The design of the creature and the cover art of your game are also top notch!)

I just feel like the coffee should make me more alterted :b

...Maybe I'm just pissed that I'm the last one in the leaderboard, but just wait, I'll come back for more...! :)

Also, I really liked the vicious but equally cute kitty xD

Well done guys! :)

WHEN NANA SAYS IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL by alyd asmar 2022-04-10T01:57:00Z

Wow, I already love this - can't wait to play this tomorrow as its already quiet late and this seems to need some time to be fully aprreciated :)

The Inevitable Sinking by Alpha Wolf Studios 2022-04-11T09:58:10Z

Screenshot 2022-04-11 at 11.51.25.png

haha, what a wild ride! Love this. Graphics were cute. Music was fantastical and fitting. The way the enemies move moved and turned made this into a real nice challenge!

But whyyyy exactly is Arielle an enemy?! ^^ That's not what Disney taught me! :D

Nice entry, could be a smartphone game :) (since tapping is even more intuitive, might have to crank up the wavering of the enemies/projectiles)

I'm glad I made it to level 3 to be able to see Zeus, a Toilet, Spaceship, Turtles, Angry Birds and whatnot attack me, hehe.

From a graphic design point of view this could be a bit improved, your Text can be scaled down and not all over the screen, and also Serif Fonts aren't really great for continous text, for example in the credits I would have either only made the names or the titles in that font and the rest in a Sans-Serif.

But since this is a gamejam, I'm sure time ran out ^^

If you plan to continue to work on this, you might wanna step up your "legally safe knock-off" game :p

Good job guys!

Bathroom in the Backrooms by mrbrainfed 2022-04-08T11:36:06Z

Lol, this game made me laugh, what a good idea for this topic xD (Also, I managed to find it on the first try - yay! :D Normally I'm never this lucky, I pee myself all the time :( jk ^^)

This was cute and I liked the cellshading :) Music in the credits was fancy, y no music during the game?! ^^

In any way, nice entry for a single person :)

PopCat Hoover Disaster by OrangeDragon 2022-04-08T11:32:32Z

Hahaha!!!! As a fellow catgame creator, I love this!! :D

The sprites of the cat we're simply hilarious and the fact that the enemy is a vaccum cleaner.. lol.

This made me feel bad about cleaning lol, I will be more considerate towards my cats from now on :b

It took a bit to get used to it with down and up but was then easy with just moving the middle finger :)

Music was cute & silly and fit the game pretty well :)

Good job a guys! A very adoreable game!

Space Ninja by mhorth 2022-04-08T11:09:40Z

This was good!

A very neat little game, feels very finished :)

Also.. the UI! So pretty! (I know that you spend a huge amount of time on how the line follows the menu buttons haha, I saw your blog post)

It was fun, love me some fruit, ergh, meteor ninja :) The game was well executed, slicing felt very satisfying and waiting for the right alignment to get the max meteor combo was a good feeling!

Music and mood were very good, earth was pretty, also, shiny glowing meteors :0

Good job guys! :)

Atlantis by lisyarus 2022-04-07T12:37:07Z

Whatever you do... DON'T WASTE YOUR WOOD!!!!

haha. what a great lesson :b seriously a good entry! controls we're also rather easy, although I would have liked you maybe pointing it out in your game description, but I tried and figured it out eventually :)

This was really fun! I like organizing games as I'm a huge controlfreak myself :) If you continue working on this, maybe add a few tooltips, because I was lost at first, haha :)

It would also be fun if the game could go in different directions, like for examople if you set up a lot of fish huts at the beginning you would built a fisherman village and have to send boats to other islands for deliveries or something like that :D (and then like - achievements for every route!)

.. I'm getting ahead of myself :) Cool entry, well done!

Catocalypse by Neshtyak 2022-04-10T04:03:52Z

Well, I can't pass up a cat game now, an I?!

"Mutant cats begin to crawl out of the vat, seeking to explore the environment and thus destroying the Witch’s house."

-> I'm sorry, this is a problem how? So this is a simulator of my real life?

All kidding aside - I LOVED THIS!!! The kitties were so so so cute, haha. I think my favourite reaction was bubbleing the pokemon cat - right after bubbleing the skyrim cat (why skyrim cat? They kinda remind me of atronachs ^^)

Oh god this was so adoreably cute, it almost gave me a heart attack! Also, bonus points for the cutscene, soo soso cute omg!

Gameplay was fun, I really liked the use of this rock paper scissor element - also while looking at the tutorial I thought - gosh, I hope the respective shortcuts and what they mean are always shown in the UI and they are - good job guys!

I was kind of too dumb to repair though - do I have to buttonsmash or hold? it didn't work most of the time for me :(

If you do a postjam version, I would balance the cooldown a little bit, and make it skill based, because if there are 3 water cats and I can only use the test tube once ever couple seconds thats a bummer - maybe a penality whenever I use an ability wrong? so like, cooldown according to what I chose? Or after having clicked at a cat I need to choose the ability in a certain timeframe ot get rewards - or penalties when I take to long?

In any case, amazing game and content for a gamejam - good job, guys!

Gods of Divine Stuff: RAgnarök by Anaxie Studio 2022-04-10T01:46:25Z

Wow, this must have taken a lot of work to do, wow...!

First of all, fantastic character illustrations (y) really love those shiny eyes. and display of all the gods. fuck zeus that dirty old men lol, great representation at any case.

I like tower denfense games and what I liked about yours is that placement really matters and you have to quickly figure that out (well duh.. that's what tower defense games are about, you might say. But I really felt yours was one of the ones it mattered more because of the paths and how you were trying to combine the best range to hit the most lanes etc (contrary to tower defense games that just go straight in a row, for example Plants vs. Zombies)

The story was fun, although I think some people wouldn't want to read all of it (watching so much streams in the last couple of days I've found out how much "I hate reading" people there are o.o), so it's good you made it skipable for those :)

Have to say, I would have liked it if there was something to do midgame (like maybe,"refill" something of every character? or click something for a special attack? repair something? etc.) So like that you have something to do instead of waiting, also more time initially to put down things. Have to say, the fights also didn't really feel like they could have featured more connection to the certain person they're currently fighting instead of just (at least that's how it seemed) random enemies

but that's all for postjam - great what you guys managed to pull off in this short amount of time :) congrats!

Chasin' Dreams by AnimalX 2022-04-11T17:20:03Z

A cute game with a nice premise and also, congrats on the rigging! I easily I spend half of the jam on the main character alone xD (But it's the main character right? So time well used I'd argue :)

I'm amazed you did that AND the programming, wow!!

Graphics are minimalistic and pretty, the colours are nice and pleasant (although the indirect lighting (GI) could be a liiiittle bit brighter for me - so I'd like the shadows to be a little less dark, but I'm not familiar enough with Unreal to know how to fix this. Do you also need to bake light for realtime GI to work? Or are there Post Processing Effects? Not sure how they work in Unreal, but in Unity this is like a miracle! Basically like an after effects filter, it puts make up onto the final image of your game, lol. you can then cheaply brighten up your end result if theres's not time for light baking/fucking around with light :D)

The idea and gameplay are really nice and fun, I feel like it might need a bit of tweaking to make this really fun for post jam version :)

My 3 main issues:

1. Controls with KBM feel a BIT off can't say why, it just feels SLIGHTLY off with the world game orientation? I will try with the controller afterwards but right now it's in use :) 2. Mom is a little too OP: yeah sure, she needs to be quicker and faster, but it should also be possible to run a bit from her (can be skilled based, I know I know, no time during a jam - but that's why I said post jam ;D) so maybe she like drags you and you can do QTE button smash actions to escape or something? (With button smashing I'm imagining a mini game like in Pokemon Stadium with the pikachus and voltorb where you make electricity if you're familiar?) Or like make her slightly slower and give her a little direction delay so the player can sidestep like a rabbit to throw her off ^^ base game already offers nice mechanics/opportunities like running around or jumping over the carussell :) 3. jumping and reaching platforms should be a little easier I think, and your jump/gravity maybe a bit faster :) (so that you also reach the floor faster when you fall down)

All in all a great entry! Congrats :)

Say Something by Andreia 2022-04-11T10:54:18Z

Ohh, I really like this! A very creative take of the topic, I really liked how this is a happy ending, not like 99% of all othe entries, which are highscoregames (like ours *cough*... I really disliked this jam's topic!! :P)

The graphics looked very unique and beautiful, like a real game on steam :D (Really like that coal drawing aesthetic!)

Controls felt very smooth, I would have liked it if you can move one platform down with the down arrow (or S button) although that's probably how you didn't intend it and admittedly added a new challenge to reach those parts :)

Being able to skip the intro would have been nice as it's a rather fast paced game (if you suck, anyway) but that's a minor detail almost nobody has time for at a jam ^^ (neither did we xD)

Screenshot 2022-04-11 at 12.49.38.png Also: yay ^^ I'll give it a another shot later, maybe my smooth talking can make them marry me on the spot :P

Good job, guys!

HANG UP! by Jesse J. Jones 2022-04-16T14:53:23Z

salesmangame.jpg

Lol, that was a blast (Pic related: my first try) Obviously I'm not exactly secretary material, but I need to show this to my mum who is pretty quick ;D

I LOVED the graphics! Really dig the artstyle, and I also love the rough outlines (with pen pressure) etc., really gave this an artsy look :)

Controls were self explanatory, customers were hilarious, I also loved that the letters are spelled out once you type them, haha.

Real fun!! :) Could be like a learning game for people who have to learn 10 finger typing or something.

I'm sad that I couldn't win this when the bar was a the very right, but that's this jam's lame topic for you, amirite? ^^

It would be really cool if you continued to work an this and maybe add actual words and you should just type good sell words or something (and if you type the bad words there's penality, so you have to write them backwards or something :D)

Cool entry, good job!

Great Escape by Martinek 2022-04-08T11:22:52Z

Haha, that was cute and fun! (and also gave me PTSD, lol)

Maybe this little game will help me get my shi...- urm, socks together!

I really liked the general idea of the game, and the socks look so adoreable, lol :)

This could be like a warioware minigame, so cute! :)

Also really liked that theres two game modi and two difficulties! Good job!

Culmination by Arsen 2022-04-08T10:21:08Z

Wow!! Cool little creepy game with a twist!

I really really liked the drawings in the end, also finding your way out with a map was a fun mechanic! (and I say this as someone who has about the orientational skill of Zorro from One Piece, lol) but since this was like a main feature of the game, it was very fun :)

Also, creepy! The graphics we're good too, really set the mood. (although there was half a runcycle missing :p) Wished I could try to avoid the monsters when running by them (like trying to dodge ther attacks or something) but the hitbox didn't let me pass :( I think if you made those hitboxes smaller this would be even more fun :)

Music fit very well! The UI was a little but unintuitive, (would have been a nicer feel if I would either toggle the map on and off with F, oder it shows the map as long as I hold F instead of the X) I realized you love that X, because I thought there was no exit button at first :)

All in all, a solid nice entry, I enjoyed it, good job :)

Giraffe o'Clock by Kepsert 2022-04-07T01:35:20Z

I know about your game from the Stream :) (The dude seriously kinda misrepresented it, after having played it myself ^^°)

TRULY AMAZING!! WOW!! Can't believe what you guys managed to do for that you were only two people?!

This is like a fully fledged game!!

Where to begin... Artstyle, Story, Music, all fantastic. Really loved the pink monochrome theme! Unicorn who? pfff... Giraffes obviously are the next big thing! :id:

(and I loved that you even said it in the game yourself ^^ I also really loved the meta humor!)

In general it was very funny and not a lot of things make me laugh :b

the levels were amazingly detailed and SO. MUCH. CONTENT. The animations!!! Wow.

I hope you guys to to Steam with this, seriously. so cute. And wholesome. A bit Undertale vibes :)

But duuuuuude. The Dance Dance Revolution bit. Duuuuude xD Too hard to start out with :b

I will definitely return to my save file!!

5* <3

I honestly don't know one bad thing to say. If I had to say something.. maybe incorporate the controls a bit in like a tutorial? But even that was easy to find out while playing (and Gamejams and tutorials, ain't nobody got time for that, lol)

Oh, also! The game mechanic! Sooooo unique and fun, omg! Honestly, this might be my favourite this Jam!

Desert Oasis by Janku 2022-04-07T12:49:04Z

hehe. hehe.jpg

Also, look at my dude's chilling up that lion king hill after I successfully chased them away from those hungry damn lizards!

:) Fun and interesting concept, like you're god and taking care of an aquarium (which basically would be earth ;D)

I have to say I didn't get it at first with switching the views (although it says so in your description haha) But it was fun! A minimao would have been nice :D to see those nasty ***** coming :b

btw a little tip for you because those directional light shadows can get quite dark and ain't nobody got time for light baking: watch a tutorial about PostProcessing effects :) Theyre really easy to set up (especially if you're using the universial render pipeline) and basically put a filter over the finished image (like in after effects or something) you can easily polish every game there, and most importantly, brighten up dark areas very quickly without having to worry about light stuff too much :)

good job on completing your game <3

ETA: almost forgot: those feet were FIRE! haha. very fabulously floppy!

Leaf the Ghost behind by BiOs3008 2022-04-10T15:39:25Z

I liked the cute Paper Mario graphics and what you did with the Menu :) (also with the "die", lol) popping the bubbles was nice :)

The controls could need a bit polishing, but that's the case for every game in a gamejam ^^

Good job!

Jailbound Joyride by AmberFall92 2022-04-21T17:39:23Z

Wowwww, what a fast-paced, crazy ride (literally!)

this was so much fun!!! I loved this mechanic and feedback!! <3

the graphics were pretty and with the colours pleasant to look at, music was very fitting :)

Such a good job :D <3

Timebound by zSharpFire 2022-04-07T13:55:44Z

Ha, that was cool!

At first I was like.. AHHH.. WAY TO HARD!!

But then I adapted and as soon as I defeated every enemy I was so proud, lol.

Just very mean I have to die then :( but that's the theme of the jam, I suppose ;)

Visually it was very clear, but I feel like it would have been even better if you would tone down the glow on the walls (which is a post processing bloom if I'm correct?

So either remove the bloom altogether or make the white of the walls more transparent or else put them on another UI camera set to overlay and remove post processing on there (The answer in this thread under the "best answer" ironically describes it the best https://answers.unity.com/questions/1307441/stop-post-processing-effects-on-ui.html )

A good entry! congrats!

Wait For It ! by Forgin Bits 2022-04-11T10:44:14Z

That was really cute! I loved all the WarioWare-esque games :)) The graphics were really charming and sweet, I loved the introduction with the comic panel style! Sometimes games were hard because it was lagging a bit, but that was probably because I was on my laptop, I will try it on my decent machine later :)

I feel like upon successfully managing a step a littl player feedback would have been nice, you know how deprived of reassurement we all are :P

But other than that - a very polished feeling entry for a gamejam! Especially for a 1 man job! Congrats!

Mr. Psychologist by Arthemy 2022-04-21T16:24:14Z

A very fun premise! I also loved the doc and the 2D portrait of him :D

The cases were really fun (I played like 10 mins and had a new one all the time), however, most of the time it wasn't very obvious which would be the right choice. You clearly are creative and fun, I would have liked if there we're also answers for each call (like in little brackets under the options or something, can be short like they do it in fallout for example :))

Other than that, I like what you did, would be also fun to add stuff to do in the doc's office :))

congrats on finishing your game :)

Nightwaker by Bottled up Dark Peace 2022-04-05T16:58:57Z

This looks amazing! Sadly the WebGL Build lags a lot for me (maybe my Internet is too crappy right now?) and the Winodws Build seems to be the Web Build? Hmmmm. Am I mistaken?

Would love to try this :))

Nightwaker by Bottled up Dark Peace 2022-04-09T19:05:57Z

Finally managed to get back to you guys!!

Okay, first of all - how dare you make me push Groot?! ^^

pushgroot-jpg.jpg

Now for real, a great entry! I liked the gameplay and the visuals - I actually don't feel like it's such a Limbo clone at all, more like it's own thing (but isn't that ultimatly better? :))

I will say, at first I thought I had to close my eyes when there was light (probably because that happens in a bunch of games, and he's in the darkness at first etc. ^^) and was confused, but figured it out pretty quickly :) I liked this mechanic a lot, as it made me having to plan and time when I do this while fighting off monsters/doing actions

Oh, also, the start mechanic in the beginning didn't work at firstm which is the reasom it took me so long to play your game - but that can probably be blamed on my shitty wireless keyboard? ^^

Now I'm playing the Web Version on my Macbook :) It sometimes lagged a bit, and loading between levels took a while, but again, can be my shitty internet, haha 🙈

aesthetically this was so beautiful! really moody (get it? like gloomy but also because of the mood? ahem. what I meant to say was atmospheric :))

I also really liked the checkpoints, and how meticulessly you seem to have tested this, because I was able to fend those flying beasts and monsters off in the last second waaay to often to it being a coincidence :D which made it feel really good and meaningful and gave me that "barely made it in the nick of time, hell yeah!" vibe.

Btw, if you wanna keep on working on this, here's a little something that can make impatient dummies like me get stuck ^^

stuck.jpg

(apparently I wasn't so upset about pushing groot the second time, seeing as I mindlessly and impatiently rushed above his moveless body like it was nothing :P)

All jokes aside, a great enty guys!!! you can be proud of yourselfes. Bet you get a good ranking, hehe :)

Oh, good font btw. Further polished the game (Gamejams really make me hate Arial... ^^° ahem.)

Nightwaker by Bottled up Dark Peace 2022-04-09T19:36:02Z

@gramsinator ohh well it can always be a LITTLE better and a game is never finished, right ;)

I for one thought it looked good ^.^ (I also thought that was totally on purpose btw, to fit this jumpy, distorted, "haunted" feel of the game :))

I didn't have a clicking problem now, the keyboard one was on my windows machine where I downloaded the build :) But again, that might just have been my shitty keyboard ^^

The Last Nightmare by Aniki_ta 2022-04-10T03:17:10Z

This looks awesome, ngl, I'm too scared to try it.. might have to convince my bf and teammate to do it tomorrow, while I watch through my fingers with hands in front of my eyes ^^

The Last Nightmare by Aniki_ta 2022-04-16T16:37:17Z

Okay, so I played this (although I said in your blog post I wouldn't because AFRAID haha) and I'm happy I did it :) I like stuff when it's not too scary, and finding out about mysterious, gorey stuff (think like Fallout vault type stuff etc.) so I liked finding these notes, and the audio made this very athmospheric :)

Sadly I died after exciting the first scene? Although I'm kind of glad because I read there's a jumpscare somewhere and I fucking hate jump scares lol, I wish that would be generally agreed upon to make them illegal xD (Still curious about the story though, so I might make someone play it and watch ^^)

Liked the notes, the story really seemed very interesting :) I just wish I could escape the curse of Arial for once in this gamejam :P

(Seriously guys.. just download ANY font and put the .ttf or .otf file into your project! ^^)

good job buddy on finishing your game!

I Sink Not by eeldam 2022-04-11T10:37:15Z

My first playthrough:

"I think I just created a perpetumobile! Heck yeahhh!!!"

Screenshot 2022-04-11 at 12.30.14.png

(\*Spongebob Narrator\*: Ten seconds later) Okay, maybe not :(

What a charming game! I love it! This looks like an interactable story book 🥺 (also together with the font and all) The graphics are so lovely and the soft music fit really well.

The controls are very self explanatory and feel smooth!

Sometimes the UI of the boat parts was exceeding the screen, but as we all know gamejams I suppose there simply wasn't time to fix this, so it's okay, no big deal :)

This was my most successful run yet btw :D (by just starting out and buiding and waiting for events to unfold, so no further forging, but I'll try that next :D) Screenshot 2022-04-11 at 12.34.54.png

Good job guys! A cute little game! I feel like this could be a perfect little puzzle game! (where you need to reach your destination) with the Story book style, you could add a little story too 🥺 That would be a brilliant app game I think!

Dungeon Crawl by jzucc12 2022-04-21T17:24:51Z

A fun little game and cool idea, I like stuff like that a lot :) (also like the story/choice bits in FTL a lot)

the graphics are well chosen and the misuic fot the mood :)

Very impressive for a single person - I would have liked if the HP from the enemies were visible a bit better - unless you don't want that - then maybe an action to show the stats of the enemies - HP, weaknesses, status etc :)

The choices were cute and funny, it was fun figuring out what to do during my first run - I was just disappointed I died at the Cerberus at the very end... damn Fluffy grrr.. isn't there a harp to put him to sleep?! :(

All in all a fun entry, congrats :)

Paddle Panic 🚣‍♂️😱 by Marlon 2022-04-10T03:29:11Z

Haha, this was nice!

A very cute and likeable entry :)

The game is not the most performance friendly as I was trying to play it on my old Macbook, so I'll have to try again tomorrow on my proper machine. (But it's 3D with a water shader in a Web Build, so that's kinda to expect)

The visuals and colour were very pleasant to the eye and honestly a 3D game in WebGL? You guys either light baked or your Post Processing game is next level, so consider yourself saluted for it!

Also, whoever rigs and animates a 3D character for a gamejam is nothing less but a hero in my book ^^ (I always do it to challenge me and MAN is it a LOT. OF. WORK. Did I just call myself a hero? YES!!! haha.)

I really liked the concept of the game, as well as all the options and that the ending reason is a waterfall :) (I like button smashing mechanics, that might come from playing pokemon stadium minigames all the time as a kid lol)

It would have been cool to have an indicator of the location of the waterfall in comparison to my location even earlier :)

Water shader looked good too! A nice, minimalistic game where you focused on a bunch of assets and make the most of it - which is the right way to do a gamejam imo.

Good job guys, good job Günther - float on and hang in there man - I'm sure the tides will turn soon :) (I mean, not really, it's a waterfall.. just trying to be optimistic ^^ btw, I really disliked this jam's theme - 99% highscoregames lol.. I mean what else can you do? Your cause of ending was among my favourites btw :))

Mr. Second by Marvis 2022-04-09T19:29:06Z

Wooooow!!! This is in my Top 3 favourite entries!!!

Where to begin.

The visuals. OMG THE VISUALS. Mr. Second is SO. DARN. **CUTE!** gosh.

really like that character design, so cute and original. and those animations are soooo pretty 😱 probably my favourite animations in this jam! all the assets look amazing and provide the game with such a charming, lovely look! Everything looks very.. idk, handmade maybe? Even the background with this paper texture (?) Great eye for detail, splendid art direction :)

If I had to say something negative - and that's very, very nit-picky, especially considering this is a gamejam - I would draw the upper sides of the surfaces like it was a perspective view - in most cupboards etc it works because it looks like its a perspective view - but in this case you can slightly see it's not and like he's not ON but IN the surface - but again, very nit-picky :)

Screenshot 2022-04-09 at 21.19.18.jpg

Then the gameplay - amazing! Probably really the most original idea I've seen in this gamejam! I loved the mix between puzzle and platformer! Very clever puzzles, also. I really liked that you basically have two deal with 2 "you"s Although it is a biiiit unforgiving - checkpoints wouldn't have hurt anybody :b

But that's a gamejam syndrome - everyone starts their game with Level 99, as I always say xD

A very adorable game that I actually think you should polish and put on steam for a couple bucks :)

Congrats guys - you can be proud of yourselfes!

Persist Ant by rynsy 2022-04-16T15:37:56Z

An ant game!! As a member of the already 1.8 Mio Facebook Group "A group where we all pretend to be ants in an ant colony" I just have to endorse this.

What a wilde ride! :D

I liked this! The graphics we're good to read! Music was fun and the way the run animation made the ant's but wobble up and down made me giggle.

Fun challenges, although I wasn't completely sure how the dash function works, but I just kept smashing it to get past the worm :D (I didn't manage the first worm at first and almost gave up after 10 tries, but then I somehow figured it out :))

The starting cutscene is nice but a bit long, at first I thought you have to watch it everytime you die which would have been tiresome, so good thing it isn't ^^ (s very fast paced version of it wouldn't have been bad though :))

The jumping was good in general, played the second version. Jumping up in that section with the blocks built like stairs (so from left to right, right to left etc.) felt a bit hard and I fell down a couple of times, but it was manageable :)

Good job guys! Nice game :)

Will or won't sink by Blidnight 2022-04-21T20:24:22Z

For some reason, this won't start for me when I click on play :(

Will or won't sink by Blidnight 2022-04-22T10:52:45Z

An adoreable, little, fun game! :)

Graphics were amazing and the gameplay was fun and easy to grasp!

I had to change my display resolution from 4K to HD in order to be able to start the game - not good. While I wouldn't let that affect me rating your game (I can't rate you at all, but y'know what I mean ^^) but since it's extra and all, you might wanna definitely fix that, because most players sadly are very impatient and wont stick around :(

The game was fun and the animations looked very polished, I also loved the effects! The level design was good and I especially liked that %$§@# bottle, it added so much to gameplay :) (would be cool if there was an indicator a little earlier when it is about to show up, maybe like a glass sound or something so players feel rewarded for being able to react quickly)

It would have been nice if you've added some Royality free music and sounds from freesounds.org

I wish you could move down with the down (or w button)

Button assignment... nooot such a big fan. It wasn't horrible and definitely worked and was still fun, but I would rather put the jump on space and actions on left click, as it feels more natural and players are also used to from other games (never change a running system, one of the things I learned at school, you would also never make stamina red and health green since Blizzard introduced that a million years ago for example ^^)

A really nice, polished little game you've got there, congrats :)

Winter strikes back! by Biba-sama 2022-04-10T15:56:48Z

A cute game! I really liked the pogo stick character scarecrow and it's movement, very original :) Also yay, you even have some lore and cutscenes :)

It was challenging, but fun, although too hard, but I'm just gonna call this the gamejam disease ^^ (we suffer from it too lol) every game here starts off at level 99 xD

the puzzles were nice and after a bunch of trial and error I was able to pass the first section (after the bridge) with ease :) The slope felt a bit difficult and my fire/life runs out fast - which is a shame because you also have to deal with the jumpy controls and dodging obstacles while timing your jumps - so checkpoints and/or places to refill your fire would have been nice :)

In any way, nice entry, good job guys!

Ghost Chase! by Gnome4 2022-04-07T12:10:19Z

Finally found time to get back at you!

A fun little prototype.

Like if Luigis Mansion was a bit more creepy and inevitable :D

Playing felt nice, controls were easy to understand! Visually is was really well to read (Would have liked a prettier font in the Menu ;D)

But really a solid entry! You can be proud of yourselfes :)

Btw: I think I found a little bug, after a couple of minutes the game crashed on me. I think it was when I reached over 6 0 seconds or so? It happened several times

didn't diminish the fun of the game though as it was towards the end and inevitable anyway :b

Shadow Rush by Brandsma 2022-04-09T12:59:04Z

Wow!!! What a fun game! :D

A well executed little driving game which in itself isn't anything unheard of, but I really liked how you implemented it with all the controls, and I'm generally not a person that plays too much driving games, but this one I quite enjoyed :) (I think I'm a control freak and seeing everything just suits me better than driving in FPS xD)

I also really loved that you're driving + seeing your ghost, kind of reminded me of trackmania nations, but you're the enemy ^^ (yeah okay, I play that one.. but only on Lan Parties and it's so silly, it doesn't count :D)

I needed a couple of laps to getting used to the controls, but even that part was fun :))

I was really motivated to keep getting better and who knew my drifting game would step up to a level that'd make even Vin Diesel green with jealousy :b

You have this thing that a lot of gamejam games do, which is having the controls oriented to the character perspective and not the world perspective which makes it a little less intuitive, but I think your game is the one where it bothered me the least/not really (maybe it even adds more fun, idk, would have to see that to tell)

Graphics we're cute, audio was amazing and fitting (I see you're not getting yourself rated for the audio, so great find!) and the feedback from driving also felt good!

Good job guys :)

Boris and the Miserable Factory of Mr. Bossman by Baptiste Lnq 2022-04-08T15:09:17Z

hahaha! cool entry! :D I liked it! but.. 215$? pre taxes? come on man!!! ^^

Loved all the little items idk what my favourite was, can't decide between switch, lightsaber, cat and pumping heart.. but it kind of felt good throwing the baby in the incinerator.. does that make me a bad person? xD

The artstyle in general was nice! I also liked your game page :) (tip: firmattig on here is a bit meh, for listing stuff you either need to add another line break between the certain bullet points, or adding put 1. 2. etc)

I felt like the grab area could have been a liiiitle more generous (bigger) and also a lot of times it was impossible to get both things of the conveyer belt (I recognize it's probably because of the topic, tbh I really didn't like the topic for this jam at all, because almost everyone made a highscore game (we did too ^^) and 99% of cool games aren't cool because of the theme, do that really didn't have any benefit.. anyway, I digress :D)

A nice, solid entry! Had fun while playing (even though it gave me a burnout, haha!)

Good job guys! Characters looked funny too and the colours used were a good choice as well!

Fire Punch by Stefan Funke 2022-04-09T16:07:06Z

Hi, a very cool entry! Really like what you did there :)

graphics looked cool and the anmations were really nice!

I feel like this is a game that would feel much better with a gamepad - but MKB was fine as well!

Also, classic gamejam syndrom - start outh with Level 99, lol. Why do we like to torture our players so much xD

Seriously though, I tried to be patient and played it for 10-15 minutes but never got past that 2 monsters. I figured it's impossible without getting hit at least twice (5-6 fireballs crashing into the floor, you can't stand in front of the monster - basically meaning you will get hit for sure)

Can you try to set off the aim of the monsters a bit? like make the delay higher or something und upload it again? (Gamejam rules are a grey area, but I think balancing still counts? but even if you post this as post jam)

tag me if you do, would love to try this again as I feel this game really has potential, I also quite liked the feedback of pushing and the monsters dying (turning to stone?) The range of you attacks is very narrow, which is fine by itself, but having to get close to the monster while it jumps in your face PLUS having 5-6 fireballs behind you (the location where you should theoretically be able to retreat) just really really is a bit too much imo.

But these 2 monsters could be like final boss style, no joke :p

congrats on finishing this by yourself, really impressive :)

Fire Punch by Stefan Funke 2022-04-10T12:36:53Z

@stefan-funke oh believe me, I feel you soooo much. most people are frustrated with out game as well ^^°

After you spend 72 hours working on it, you tend to forget others haven't... :)

So yeah. Definitely a learning curve for us too! Add a couple casual levels, so everyone can enjoy and the pro players will rush through that to get to the harder levels will be my approach for the next jam :)

That is a good idea, I should do that too, but my ADHD brain makes me overfocus and obsess oder things sooo easily, hahah! :D

Ohh, thank your for the tip! I will give it another try! :)

Fire Punch by Stefan Funke 2022-04-10T13:11:28Z

Okay so I tried to implement your advice, gave it a few tries and…

blbl-IDIDIT.jpg

YAY!!! That actually felt preeeeetty damn good! I was positive my ending is imminent though, lol.

Then I actually managed to come quite far!!! I just ran away from most of the monsters to come across this mysteriousy sparkling beauty:

blbl_shrine.jpg

Man, better check this out! maybe it teleports me somewhere? Nope

Okay, but there was a sound that video games trained me to think of a positive sound, so surely I activated SOMETHING, maybe that's even a checkpoint? Yeahhh that's gotta be it, now I can kill all these monsters without having to di- INSTANT DEATH. lol

Duuuuuude xD Come on now :b

haha this definitely IS challenging! (And the lack of checkpoint, come on man.. yeah, yeah just go on blame it on the time limit again, and not just you being cruel ^^)

All kidding aside, I would add the following two things to your page description:

1. Gameplay Tip about little jump back (I might add: maybe even start shooting a step back and wait until the dumbo jumps into it, or did I just unravel a secret :3 2. Write something about it being a challenging but rewarding game. Because that's what it is, I added that to our game to and will I think at least weed out the people that give up after 20 seconds of trying (Frankly, I don't get these people as fellow gamedevs.. but I digress)

You know how videogames used to be way harder back in the day? When there was a max. of 10 coming out every year, so players needed to spend more time on the levels ^^ But players were much more inclined to keep trying and the feeling of finally making it is phenomenal.

Nowadays a lot of people want that instant rush of gratification and are impatient. Although not everyone!

Otherwise games like the Souls series and cuphead wouldn't exist.

But casual players know how to steer away from them :D Und even they offer jackpoints, bro :b

.. okay, roasted you enough about this now, hehe :D

(and between you an me: I also didnt like the topic, and I'd also rather do a game that is meaningful/taking a risk with trying something new that could potentially be worked on later on, instead of a little cute game that plays it safe that might raise hearts during a gamejam but in the long run was just a fun project and nothing more, no hate against those, absolutely not, but I really dislike the idea of not trying to experiment and come up with something cool for the sake of ratings. That being said.. arrange time for checkpoints and easy first levels next time ;))

Fire Punch by Stefan Funke 2022-04-11T18:42:06Z

@stefan-funke heck YEAH I did!!!

Ohh that wasn't really meant like I feel you do that too much, more like the relatable thing we all complain about :D (too little time D:)

Ohhh gotcha! So after killing the monsters nothing more would have happened? :3 Yeah, you know how players are, we need constat praise and such :D Maybe add a text next time :))

Kessler by jcg 2022-04-10T15:35:46Z

A very cool little game!

I really liked that your game wasn't complex, but deep, that's top game design!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7daTGyVZ60I

So you just need one input - left click, but that left click makes for a rather complex gameplay, where part of it was figuring out how to do it - the secret imo is to quickly look for signs and find out where the next trash explosion will be and them aim where they will go - which left you equally desperate and excited, haha! (Maybe implement a few signs that when the player catches it he gets rewarded by mors acurately knowing where to shoot would be nice)

From a graphic design point of view this was really strong, I liked the minimalistic graphics together with the font - a clean, unobstrusive, pleasant look! Would work well for a mobile game I think

Good job on finishing your first gamejam :)

WE ARE DOOMED by andrground 2022-04-08T11:18:13Z

This was nice!

Idk if you did the graphics or downloaded it form the asset store or something, but it was a good choice :)

Fun theme, honestly I thought the ending would be that earth was overpopulated, haha!

I really love the variation of ways to out out a fire, and the ollustration made it very clear what to do (meaning for a dummy like me I still needed a minute to figure it out, haha)

Sometimes the movement was kinda weird, like it was inverted? If that makes sense? Probably because the earth was rotated by then

Also, maybe bayking the light would have been nice to add indirect light and lighten up those dark parts (or use post processing effects as a quick fix

All in all a very awesome entry for one single person! Congrats!

Bombthrow by LakeDev 2022-04-21T19:25:04Z

A cute and fun game! The mechanics we're easy to grasp, although c and z was a bit of a weird choice for jumping, but it was okay :)

I liked what you did with the topic - most people were doing Highscore games \*cough, cough* yours truly included \*cough, cough*, so good job on that! (I didn't exactly love this jam's theme ^^ anyway)

The second level already was a bit hard for me with the bomb countdown and I want to rate some more games before the deadline ends, but I will try later :) (placing stuff to delay the bomb is a good idea though!)

Godd job on finishing your game and I hope you will reach those 20 votes 🙌🏻

Dave's Diet by ASize7Shoe 2022-04-11T17:29:48Z

I loved this!!

First of all: Title Screen. Haha! Love me some sexy Minecraft beach boys ;D seriously though, I like it when a bit of work is put into that, it's important and a bit of work and thought put into it gets you a long way!

The graphics are generally nice, amooth colours, although because the player is so small, the things could be a bit more highpoly or maybe have a texture applied (so like, just any sort of pattern, like seamless paper texture, (so a white/bright one) and then you can still change the colour in unity, that would give it a cool handmade look maybe :D

The idea I loved soooo much!!! Really amazing! had so much fun while playing this!

I just felt like the hitboxes miiiight need a bit work, as when I was running away I got stuck a lot and sadly often did not make it. But I managed to save the burger!! :D

I find it really interesting how Dave behaves :) How exactly did you program him? :)

All in all, a very successful jam entry! Congrats on finishing this jam on your own!

LD52 — Harvest

Crop Chaos by Cambryx 2023-01-11T21:53:49Z

This is such an amazing entry, like others said, so polished, pretty and cute!

Reminds me of overcooked, one of my favourite games!

If you wanna do a post jam version, I'd add little explanatory button prompts (like in overcooked) I think that would further help with readability :)

Also, most of the time the scarecrow placement didnt work for me :( maybe I was just too dumb?

Also I think it would be great if I could swap what I am holding right now with what is lying at one field :)

Again, great entry!

Tony Crow's Pro Scyther by auxC 2023-01-30T08:43:08Z

wtf this looks absolutely awesome!! :0

Buzzkill by brittbrady 2023-01-11T22:07:16Z

What a precious entry! made it till day 6 T____T

you really honored those fuzzy buzzies with this sweet game! the audio and sounds are simply adoreable and the night music made me laugh haha, so perfect!

At times it was a bit hard to control my bees and I would have liked if it was easier selecting single bees, but other than that, and especially for a gamejam this felt really awesome and polished :) good job!

Dead End Job by fatPenguin 2023-01-11T21:25:29Z

@crashbashash thank youuu! We like it too ^____^

@dramonsa aw, thanks! we too thought we improved, although the game itself can be way more polished, especially the balancing, ahhh 🙈

@taikinaaa thanks! :)

@ale thank you so much! I kniw right, it's pretty horrible 🙈 admittedly not a lot of jam time was spent on balancing (and then something was changed so that was pretty gone too haha) I already added a bunch of stuff and balancing in a newer version before but it's still not too great, I'll definitely let you know once it's gotten better! :)

@labete I know right? Balancing aaaaalways gets the short end of the stick in the jam version, at least that's the case with us, gaaaaah! Thank you so much for playing and the nice review ^.^

Dead End Job by fatPenguin 2023-01-15T16:14:18Z

@hulya thanks for playing! Ha, didn't even notice that! Accidental side jab :D :D

Ohhh, the mouse direction hit advice is really awesome, need to give it some thoughts :O

and yes, shop is definitely on the to do list, but would have been too much work for the "weekend version" :D

eHarr West err... by bloodycoin 2023-01-15T13:43:28Z

Finally came around to trying this!

What a lovely idea to have me craft my own item! Absolutely loved this! However, I didn't get it at all and had to read the game page (never forget to assume that players are the absolute worst dummies, I learned this during my last jam :)) So, either add this to the game page, or ideally into the game (like underneath somethin like "make a pixel art image of a crop" or something :))

The game was absolutely lovely and the controls felt good :) the texts are cute too, I like the walking sound it could just be a tad bit less loud, but that's nit picky :)

I know time in gamejams are sooo scarce, but I think in your case it would have be so awesome if you would have added some royality free song for the background :) or space ambience from either freesound.org or search royality free music on youtube :)

LDScreenshot1.jpg

Great entry guys!!

The Redder Planet by TRraim 2023-01-15T14:30:02Z

neat fun, little game! :) Why's the awesome audio disabled by default? :D

The controls felt a bit off, but I think that can be easily fixed if youmake the transitions in the animation controller much shorter :) (the only thing why it felt off was because he didn't immediately look into the direction he was running, and since his speed is quite fast it should update faster)

shooting felt cool, for postjam you definitely need to explain the plantimng mechanic more (and when the player is in the menu) but since it's a jam I guess time ran out like for all of us ;D

Congrats in the great entry! :)

Bloodberry Fields by anoushcat 2023-01-11T21:41:12Z

A very sweet game! The art is adoreable. a lot of content/animations too! I would have liked it if you'd put some 2D colliders at the bnottom of the image, walking on the windwill like it wasn't really there but just a flat image wasn't too awesome for immersion ;P

but it's a real neat little game you've got there! congrats, had fun playing :) the music is great too!

Harvest "Harvest Simulator" Simulator by spyranteros 2023-01-15T16:52:29Z

Lol, great meta humor! Music and audio was good too!

Now for the gameplay: nice physics! definitely demanding while at the same time a clear objective!

A nice jam entry :) good job!

Cyber Shapes by mhorth 2023-01-15T16:26:27Z

One of the funnest games I've played!

Also graphically, this is VERY strong. Such a beautiful and clean UI, wow!

Also I love how you build your game around that stock video (Or don't tell me you ALSO did that yourself within the 72 hours?! 0:) looks really cohesive and pretty!

The whole minimalistic, smooth glowy scifi aesthetic is pretty flawless basically.

Ok, confession time: I'm your classical dumb user, sadly. Although I enjoyed it, I didn't get the harvesting mechanic at all, I don't think I saw any cores :( or maybe I'm just too bad and have to get better ^^

I also really loved how the spaceship behaved and also with the slight delay, I think you really hit a sweet spot there, too much of it would have been annoying.

I seriously think you could put this on steam for a few bucks, but definitely make either the harvest mechanic easier to understand ooooor the game starts out easier and drops orbs earlier ;D

Thanks for the cool entry :)

The Harvest by EpicGameFan 2023-01-15T16:47:19Z

Oh my god this is amazing!! Wish I could play on the gameboy :(

Loved the idea and implementation (also, 5 Humor Stars for "feels nice, but not sure how this is helping..." alone, lol.) I'm stuck now at locked doors that I can't seem to open with the keys I acquired :( I have the liquid, torch, keys, the letter and something else I forgot and can't check anymore because obviously I thought it was a good idea to set myself on fire) can you help me?

Graphics and music were so fitting, I really felt very nostalgic :)

Now for the nit-pickery: the cursor to me was waaaay too slow, although one could argue that makes for the gameboy charm.. ^^ shortcuts to exit menus/interact would be cool if you do a postjam :) also maybe show the name of the item when you hover over it in the inventory :)

all in all, a very nice jam entry! good job!

The Harvest by EpicGameFan 2023-01-15T18:14:25Z

@epicgamefan ohh okay, I have to try this tomorrow!

Well, then your entry is even more impressive! :)

Soul Gardener by taikinaaa 2023-01-11T21:31:29Z

Cute game! The choice of controls was kind of weird, however I got used to it fairly quickly :) Tending to this little garden between the platforming and fighting was kind of wholesome ^.^

Feeding Time at the Church of the Cosmic Void by Alex de la Cour 2023-01-15T14:04:47Z

Wow, what a cool idea!!! Loved this! Great entry for a jam, really. Some nitpicky notes for postjam: (if you're up for that? :))

I personally feel like the player should be (near) invincible to completely focus on guarding and protecting this vunerable thing ^^

The controls are a lot, but you build the first levels around teaching players the mechanic, which is awesome! (y) I then however wouldnt tell the players about all the controls at the "how to play" or here, OR mention that it will be taught to them gradually :) ideally, you'd maybe also put little reminders on the screen? :) (for the runes at least?) I personally also like to combine keyboard with mouse controls instead a bunch of keyboard controls only (which can become overwhleming fast), so maybe that's something to try here? I would make the WASD completely for player control, crouch down leftclick since that is used the most I feel and turning around on RMB maybe? or however you like :) Also, I couldn't always tell Ernest to crouch down which might be intentional, so maybe add an indicator when it is available/range :)

the graphics and music was awesome and the level design very neat, loved this idea :)

LMK if you do a postjam, I'm curious what you do with this neat entry!

The Time Traveler's Garden by Drizzle Games 2023-01-11T22:15:59Z

Awww one of the most creative entries I've seen in a long time!

Where to begin. Graphics, audio, all the details, really lovely! The transition from the music in the apocalyptic future, chef's kiss! (get it?! because KITCHEN)

As others have said, planting your own enemies is a genius idea and twist of this jams stupid theme, lol

I'm very curious where this project could be headed post jam.. :)

If the garden had like a more complex layout (or maye you can even build it with the money you earn from customers?) I imagine that to be really really cool, where you can strategically place the seeds on certain positions to ideally prepare your battleground! (and maybe there's like designated areas where the crops turn "extra good", aka areas the player would normally avoid, haha)

great entry!!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-15T16:02:51Z

What a find!!!! :O One of the most beautiful LD entries ever! The color palette is soooooooo beautiful! The character looks so professional and the animations are good too!

The idea is sweet and I love the jump 'n' run and harvest mechanic combination :))

The music was nice and fitting, although some/more sound effects would have also been nice :)

(I personally think you might make the transitions in the animation controller faster, right now it feels a bit laggy, which I have found happens to absolutely everyone haha, I nearly set all of the transitions in our game down to like 0 xD)

Further feedback for postjam (if you hadn't thought about that already yourself, which most of the time is the case, ^^)

At first I thought I was experiencing a bug because there were no apples, then I read I can respawn them by jumping off, I'd definitely add the meshes to the tree again to indicate that :)

Also, I didn't manage to get more apples to the right side other than 15, was I just a noob and I need more, or should there have been more platforms by now?

Also, for starting out I think it would be cool if you start at the bottom (and maybe see a little town or something :D) and then the level gradually moves up :)

A very good job for a jam entry!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-15T16:34:45Z

@hulya I can tell you exactly why you did that, and that was by no doubt tired exhausted gamejam stress hehe. :)

Yeahhh.. settings triggers to small and not implementing enough failsaves... yeahh been there done that, haha :D

ohh that sounds cool! you could make a level always start at the bottom and then also end at a bottom and introduce a town each time (and maybe sometimes it even goes down to like an underwater city or like a lava city or something :D (and in the lava city there is also a lava pit, so theoretically you can still fall down!)

Best of luck to your postjam efforts <3

The Garden Games by crashbashash 2023-01-10T08:55:14Z

Awesome entry, I really liked the animal fruit hybrids and their silly names, kind of reminded me of the animals i n avatar ^^

I love the idea of making minigames, and what a cute little lobby you've got there! Chapple was the one I was best at, although I agree that it was frustrating that sometimes chapples and branches would spawn on top of each other (this would be a great chance to introduce a situation where you CAN get the chapple only, but it's just harder. or maybe we are just noobs :b)

(btw I think I encountered a little animation bug, sometimes the carrot wouldn't hop but simply slide?)

The Cabbit Catcher to me was the most unique/original but also the hardest, haha, but I really liked the idea of having to time your "attacks", it would be nice if you could also quick retreat the stick (maybe only once every second or so) because otherwise it makes you lose too much time)

A fun, silly game, great gamejam entry, also a lot of content for one person!

VA-13 by Ben Lusted 2023-01-15T13:50:44Z

What a cool entry! Really liked this! graphics are neat and oldschool, and the game is fun, the music slaps too :)

Something I learned from the last jam: you start of waaaaay to hard, haha, difficulty wise, this comes from us playtesting our own games all the time and being total pros :D so best thing would be start of so easy even your grandma can make it and then increase the difficulty :) just something to keep in mind ^____^ (a lot of LD devs sadly are very impatient and then you might get unfair bad ratings...)

That being said, a really cool game reminded me of the classics :D :D

animations were minimalistic and neat! Cool entry dude!! especially for a single person!

@didine-sama Thank you! Our walrusses are happy you like them! :3

@fragment-games haha, I know right? It's good to remember oneselfes that the main goal is fun and that 3 days is really really short :D Thank you :)

@revitalia I'm sorry to hear that and I agree! Unfortunately there wasn't enough time in the end :( Thank you for playing :) If you wanna give it a second go: you have to choose the employee with LMB first to be able to make them go somewhere or do something :) you can rotate with RMB and exit the minigames with RMB too!

@sodoj ohh thank you, we're glad you enjoyed it! :3 we we're quite ambitious with all the mechanics and had to cut down on quite a few features but I'm glad you still enjoyed playing :D That's definitely the feeling we wanted, to have a little stressful fun trying to oprganize everything but we wanna improve this for sure! Also thanks for letting me know about the bug ^_^

Faking It by Hannah 2023-05-02T12:34:32Z

What an amazing entry! I love everything about this!

A clever idea with engaging gameplay, the visuals are great too! (I especially love the eye transition, the clean look and the lighting and colours look very pleasant) It was very very hard at first, so we did it together, me and my boyfriend haha, but then he almost beat it alone on intermediate! Will definitely return for more :))

Oh, one thing was the poses close to the ~~chopping block~~ speakers desk were a little difficult to distinguish, so having the one behind his back look like the arm is almost gone would be a little more helpful.

Fantastic entry guys!

Also, I lol'd

Too Hot to Hendl by Fis 2023-05-02T13:28:15Z

To sum it up in one word: SAULEIWAND!! 😁

I really liked this, from the gameplay to the sound and the graphics, the birdies look really cute and are animated quite nicely! The sounds and music further add to the charming, homey vibe.

The controls felt smooth and you even have a tutorial!

I have to say at first I didn't understand why you wouldn't put jump on W (but called it WASD) but as I continued to play I have to say K is probably even more convenient for some reason :)

I really liked the occlusion by the haystacks, however I was unfortunately stuck at this level trying to find the second package and ended up stuck here trying to look for it:

Silly Hendl, tsk tsk.

A very nice submission, feels like a real game :) Congrats guys!

oh no, you are the package by gn Fur 2023-05-02T11:26:04Z

A very fun entry with a cool and unique mechanic that is executed quite well!

I also realy liked how the artstyle, it's clean and visually easy to read while it all together really looked nice!

Me and by bf played quite a bit :) The game loop was pretty flawless too, escape the big invincible but slower than you monster while grappling the world around you and try not to get stunned by its minions, and shoot them for points (y).

A fun game with lots of potential, I can also see that with a multiplayer mode being extremely fun (and then add like a quest to do somethingm either there are islands that cant be formed or there is an objective to reach or multiple objectives to bring together by joining their islands and them communicate with team members who distracts the monster when (and you attract it's attention once you're near to the objectives and complete with minimap and everything)

Very cool entry, congrats!

Also, thanks for sharing the work progress above :)

You're doing crate by LucaVazz 2023-05-02T12:16:22Z

Hey there! as avid overcooked veterans, of course we had to give it a try!

We really like this idea and enjoyed playing, a nice variety of tasks and items, seagulls are cute and the fun facts are a nice idea and after trying to figure it out for 10 minutes we got the hang of it, however I suggest you do a little bugfixing (within jam rules) because I seriously suspect a lot of players will give up out of frustration otherwise and that would be a shame. also make a quick first postjam version uncluding following changes (this is all just my suggestion)

Bug: when you try to wrap up an already wrapped package, the package disappears and the player can no longer do (pick up etc.) anything and you have to reload the game, if you take a look at the screenshot below, I think the spawned green orbs are also part of the bug? (if you don't fix this then at least tell the players on this game page or something and try to sell it as a feature. just kidding about the feature part :D)

Also, I'd make the 3 boxing materials varying in colours and add a quick world canvas with text indicatuing which is which, also add text above priority and normal shipping :3

The power ups were cute, but it would be nice to know what they do, and if they even have to be activated? and to be able to change them

Also, it was hard to know that I had picked up things because I didn't see it standing behind the shelf, so a visual and/or audio indicator would be awesome!

All in all this is an awesome game with insane amounts of content, and multiplayer, no less! (We have experience with unity multiplayer and it's an absolute pain in the ass, so for you to having done this in a gamejam is a masterpiece on it's own, seriously!)

The colours are a little bleak too, I'd recommend some light baking (can be realtime) and adding post processing effects (also the albedo seems to be the default grey, idk why unity does this, per default all the colours look so washed out)

Good job on finishing your game and let me know when you continue to work on it, I love overcooked games :) overcookedcloneseagulls.jpg

@lucavazz haha no worries, time is tough at a gamejam and you guys seriously packed this project full of cool features and content! Ah good to know, have to try some more afterwards :D

I don't mind about beauty things (in terms of it keeping me from playing fun games) just thought I'd offer some advice I acquired over the last years, lighting in Unity can be a real butt until you sorta figure it out 0:

A cute and enjoyable entry!

Visually this is immediately pleasing, the choice of title/blog image with the deapth of field and everything is great!

Gameplay feels neat and controls are smooth, I love the atmosphere of this and enjoyed driving around on this little mars colony and doing my chores, kind of a Stardew Valley in space 😄

This is me trying to stack as much packages as possible only for them to be exploded in all directions after I quickly entered and exited the vehicles and also while driving:

MarsPost.jpg

But that's Unity physics for you, amirite? ;) If you wanna work on it maybe try to fix that by tweaking the physics material values a bit with gravity and force etc :)

I also liked that you move in the direction of the vehicle and not cam, this feels like an intended difficulty for gameplay :) It would be cool if the cart could drive up steeper slopes than the character can walk, kind of like the Mako in Mass effect!

All in all a cute and fun little entry, congrats guys! :)

📯 POSTAL HERO 🏹 by Caca 2023-05-02T10:18:41Z

Holy FUCK, right from the start I knew this game had some serious talent behind it, this has to be the best entry I've ever seen!!!

Where to begin... the artstyle, music, gameplay, mechanics, game loop... this just feels like I bought and played something on Steam! There is nothing bad to say about this, only tips for the steam release ;)

Also, the concept of delivering mail per crossbow is absolutely ridiculous and I love it.

This game has serious potential if you wanna continue working on it :)

The gameplay was real fun and very clear, the feedback was great! (although there can never be too much sounds ;D)

It felt real nice and fast paced to race through the carefully crafted and huuuuge (!) map, while trying to avoid those restricted areas (spoiler: I failed a lot, maybe because I don't have a driver's license... haha)

I LOVED the art and little details, from all the npcs, boats, kicking away cars, animations down to the SUPER adorable credit scene (is that whisteling you guys?) so much love and detail went into this, absolutely incredible. The artstyle is fantastic too, the shapes and proportions kind of reminded me of Deponia but with a much more drawn and sketchy look (which I prefer! The pastel-ish colours were really pleasing to the eyes too!)

The gameplay is very fluid and neat! Also, this is one of the games that incroporated orienting yourself in a way that makes it fun and an integral part of the gameplay (not gonna lie, my orientation skills are somewhere between a blind lobotomized snail and Zoro from One Piece, so usually orientation can be a bit frustrating, to say the least)

Also, the sorting game is flawless! felt like an actual game, really.

I also liked that all the moving cars and the player only looked to the left and right, looked silly but like in a cute and artsy, intentional way :)

Now for the steam release ;)

Much more sounds would be cool :D

Maybe you could incorporate that you can change the "ammo", aka letter colours while driving for bonus points if you deliver them (like, a postbox indicates that blue letters give a bonus, red nothing and green a slight penality in points, or something like that)

Adding different levels like in overcooked would also be cool, I like organisation levels like that :)

There's actually loads more that can be done, like... I don't know.. incorporating a duck zombie apocalypse level where you have to avoid the duck zombies, lol. Like I said, a lot of potential :)

Oh one more thing, I would have maybe liked to have a little minimap around the player (GTA or witcher style) not in a huge radious to still make the maps scattered around the city, but like as a little help, but that I think is really a preferrential thing (maybe there's like an ingame shop to purchase this and other upgrades, but that then takes away from your final score or something) but that is just a preferential thing I think, the way it works now is also nice and works out.

Great game guys, this is a fully fledged game, I'm jealous :)

In the end I thought I was awesome, but I think I only managed to hit Bronze, there is my League of Legends trauma again, haha!

PostCrossbow.jpg

Good job, hope you're proud of yourselfes, basically 5 stars all around! <3

A Message for the Stone King by SelkieHarbour 2023-05-02T09:31:16Z

What a great entry, especially for 2 people! Everything looked very polished and clean. The artstyle is pleasant, sounds are minimalistic and very fitting! It worked for me with no problems btw :) (didn't have to download the additional unreal thing)

The story was intriguing and the two scenes together with everything else made the world feel very epic :)

I thought the minigame was a cool idea, but it might be that I didn't get it, haha. other than clicking the colourful parts in the best way to remove more tiles? But that is very nit-picky since this is a gamejam :D (we for example weren't able to finish like 20% of what we wanted, haha)

if you wanna work on this it would be cool if there were different endings, safe files and maybe work on the digging mini game some more, maybe that how long you take also effects the outcome? I really liked the kind of continous hinting at clues and searching for the right way to go, so it would be cool if you as a player had tto (and could!) figure out the correct way to reach certain endings (maybe with like a list hinting of what the ending does?)

Again, great job, congrats, hope you guys are proud of yourselfes :)
