LD46 — Keep it alive

Save the sun MAN by MrChippy 2020-04-22T21:31:25Z

You got a lot done before the deadline! I think the game really has a unique spirit, thanks to quirky characters, humour and quacks(but seriously, good job with the audio).

Also, the ending was straight FIRE!

Botanico by Martynas 2020-04-24T00:20:12Z

The game looks, sounds and feels fantastic. Congrats!

Soda Pop Vampire by neontropics 2020-04-24T01:00:02Z

Love the humour and the overall presentation! The camera can be a bit frustrating though. Could be worth to experiment with different ways to control it?

Useless Machines Inc. by herniewise 2020-04-22T22:02:38Z

Visually and thematically striking!

Gameplay-wise, I like the idea of having tangible buttons, levers and knobs to experiment with on an ominous machine. As it is now it requires a bit of patience, but I'm sure you'd be able to make it intuitive with a more relaxed deadline.

Will be interesting to see where you take it post-jam. Lots of potential for a good bit of intrigue, I'd say!

LD59 — Signal

System Invader by heat 2026-05-06T03:32:35Z

What a cool, well rounded game! Enemy variety, systems, card UI... That's a lot of work, seriously impressive to see in a game jam.

Gameplay is fun, early on it's quite forgiving, but then it keeps ramping up so the challenge keeps up with levels. Eventually I got overwhelmed, but I played for a good while and got a bunch of upgrades before I fell.

Great job, one of my faves this time around.

Bad Vibes by RubixNoob13 2026-05-06T03:47:49Z

Cool little game, I was able to win over the vuumbas! The shenanigans around the long ladder were quite evil though. :P

Signals From Somewhere by BrittleLizard 2026-05-06T02:45:53Z

Interesting idea and very fitting for the theme. I was able to get most of the signals without resorting to trial and error. Playing this reminded me a bit of snooping around with WebSDR radios, which adds a bunch of cool points!

Echo : Signal drift by MikhailNe 2026-05-06T04:06:14Z

Very ambitious entry, this must have been quite a challenge to fit in a short jam. The scanner minigame is clear and well executed, I was able to pick it up without reading too much into the tutorial.

I'd like to shout out the interior level art - it's immersive and well put together.

Congrats on making a cool game!

Bleak Signal by Quoclon 2026-05-06T04:15:45Z

Finished the simulation. 🫑 Big thumbs up for the VO, it's an underutilized tool that's always cool to see in jam games!

Mixed Signals by universeflow 2026-05-06T04:58:38Z

+1 to everyone praising the art! Gameplay is simple fun, but boy my brain is way too slow for the combos :D

Apollo's Gift by dikkop 2026-05-06T03:15:00Z

With a bit of trial and error I was able to figure out how to sus out the incorrect tunes. The game is pretty fun once it clicks. :-)

There is something nice about overlooking a realm from a central high point. The way the UI is embedded into the tower works well for immersion, though initially my instinct was to try and click at things in front of me, before looking up to find the interactions in the sky.

Overall I quite liked this entry. It's interesting and unusual, which feels at home in a game jam.

Also, the bless effect is hilarious, hahaha

Channel 59 by auxC 2026-05-06T04:17:09Z

Hey I just checked out your game @jon-curtin, I think it's cool and stands on it's own! But hello to fellow VO enjoyers. :-)

Inner Signal by Gastar 2026-05-06T04:32:52Z

Ha, what a fun take on the theme, this is what I love in jam games.

Random idea, but I was thinking it would be cool to see an experiment where the output would affect the game in some ways - for example if the player could build various answers and change where the conversation goes. I imagined aliens trying to communicate with humans from space or something along those lines...

Anyway, congrats on the game, it's a creative idea and well done fitting it in a jam.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Behold by auxC 2022-04-05T05:08:24Z

@smash-city that's a bummer, but thank you for the kind words! We usually do WebGL, but this time the build was super broken... Might have it up in the post-jam!

Behold by auxC 2022-04-05T05:42:38Z

@lisichka Thanks for the heads-up! It looks like our menu might be having trouble with some resolutions. I uploaded a build where you can press Enter to progress if you're willing to give that a try!

@Monado Thank you for the kind words and yeah, the boss needs some love(and balancing, and better code...) in the post jam :D

Digital Pet by the3rdHunter 2022-04-05T06:44:32Z

I love the minimal aesthetic, very neat! There's a lot of feedback already, so let me just say that I, for one, am pretty happy that my little turnip friend will not die of hunger anytime soon. :D

Flooded Caves by nusan 2022-04-05T16:12:41Z

This is very neat! Love when pico-8 games condense the fun into a tight little package like this.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Baseball Nightmare by Amazura 2018-04-25T21:56:23Z

Looks good, especially the characters are very well done. I also liked the little backstory. It's a pity Jhony dies in the end. Or maybe there is a hidden ending if you get past a certain score? That would be cool. πŸ˜‰

Peculiar Adventures of Dorothy Hops by detectiveLosos 2018-04-26T21:49:01Z

Interesting concept made into a fun, good looking game. Hilarious writing too, epilogues at the game over screen made me chuckle. πŸ˜„

Gun Appetit! by Nyunesu 2018-04-25T21:13:48Z

Had a grin on my face constantly while playing this game. Having to stop to cook bullets was a bit stressful, but the ingredients going KAWAII more than made up for it. Great entry!

Retroviral by saiodin 2018-04-25T22:47:15Z

I like the neon look and how well the audio works with it. The idea itself is interesting and flipping between the first person and the birds eye view felt good. Some thoughts you might find interesting:

1. Was a little bummed out I could not bonk the enemies with the ball in golf mode. That would be dope! 2. I sorta, kinda might have forgotten the controls immediately after jumping into the game. πŸ˜… A cheatsheet hidden under a button would be handy in such situations. 3. The mouse sensitivity felt a bit high for an fps game. 4. It's usually tough to get physics right and I think you did a good job considering how little time there is in a jam. One thing I'd maybe look at is how easy it is to send the ball out of track bounds - it happened really often in my playthrough.

All that being said, I had fun with the game. It looks and sounds good and the tracks are interesting enough to keep me playing. I also appreciate the little details - the gun names and the cute little faces the enemies would make both made me smile. 10/10, would Overcompensate again. πŸ˜„

Tactical Hydra by MacDoom 2018-04-25T20:02:22Z

The learning curve is a bit steep, but once I got the controls down it turned out to be really fun to play, especially juking things by warping around the sides of the screen. I like the retro feel and the fact that I got to fight some chopped off hydra heads in space. πŸ˜€ Cool stuff!

Oni Hunter by pataya 2018-04-26T21:08:49Z

Gorgeous and very playable, probably my favorite game so far. The gameplay, graphics and audio - everything seems super polished. It's so well made and engaging it feels like I'm playing something people worked on for a long time, not a simple jam entry. Mad props!

Edit: Found a bug. If you restart shortly after entering the Ghost Strike mode, the transition effect will play in slow motion. 🐞

Ratty's Stew: An Immersive Cooking Simulation by joekickass 2018-04-26T20:22:48Z

Looks good! I had fun guiding cute little Ratty through all the levels(missed some ingredients though πŸ˜…).

Quick tip to improve the platforming part: Making the gravity stronger than normal is an easy way to make the character feel less floaty. You could go even further and make it stronger only when falling down, like in Mario!

Type n' Jump by Richard N Silva 2018-04-25T19:28:53Z

Clever and really well executed idea! It looks good, sounds retro and feels very smooth to play, despite the quirky way to control the character. I had a lot of rage-fueled fun beating it(got stuck for a bit at the end πŸ˜†). Awesome work!

Date Night by Darby Costello 2018-04-29T18:29:48Z

Love the style - the visuals and the soundtrack work together very well. Good writing too, I dig the self-referential humor.

As for gameplay... I spent a few minutes trying to trap Alice with obstacles until she literally got stuck under a pile of office chairs. Came here to learn all of those were red herrings. So here I am now, kinda tempted to go back and die anyway for a proper ending. πŸ˜…

Alice rates the date 2/3, but the game is a solid 5/5 stars in my book. Great work!

Action TCG by fanatrick 2018-04-26T19:20:05Z

This is a very impressive entry, a lot of effort must have went into it! The fast combat looks pretty damn exciting with all the cool skills going off and the cards dissolving in the background.

I wasn't doing very well at first, but later on I found some success with the shadow deck, spamming orbs and avoiding confrontation until I could nuke the other guy with Nightfall. Some things worth considering:

1. There is a lot to take in at first. I really liked checking out all the cards once I've got the hang of things, but it might be a good idea to have less stuff available upfront and hide some things behind gradual unlocks, so that the player doesn't get too overwhelmed in the beginning. 2. The enemies do not pull their punches and the difficulty seems to ramp up pretty quickly - I got destroyed in the second stage. It would feel cool to get at least a couple of takedowns before getting dunked on like that. 3. Having the controls visible in the corner of the screen was helpful, but I still found myself trying to jump with space all the time. πŸ˜…

This is one of the best games I've played in this jam so far. Both the card and the in-game graphics look superb, the action is explosive and satisfying and the sound effects complement the combat very well. Great work all around, I would definitely like to see what a polished, post-jam version of this would look be like!

ASTRONOPE by LucasMolina 2018-04-26T20:44:05Z

This needs to get rated. It's a clever take on the theme that is also well executed and really fun to play. A clear 5/5 stars game for me.

Bonus points for NOPE sound effects and the cute space pup. πŸ• There was a lot of heart put into this and it shows. Great work!

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-04-26T17:57:39Z

I had fun playing this one, though the rhythm part was a bit too intensive for me sometimes. Sent lots of eggplants, did not get a date, found Starwars instead. Awesome. 😁

Celauss - An Epic Realtime CCG Space Battle Game by theslate 2018-04-25T15:58:02Z

It's good, simple fun, with a bit of nostalgia sprinkled on top. Easy to just pick up and play right away.

That being said, I think there should be some incentive to spawn ships outside of just along the vertical axis of the screen.

For example I really liked how I could make the enemy destroy their own ships with smart placement of my own. I also enjoyed saving the meganuke until many units clumped up and then wiping them off with one fell swoop. Having battles more spread out hotizontally would make similar choices feel more strategic and satisfying.

Too bad the CCG part did not make it to the build, but I had fun playing anyway. Good job and keep it up!

Of tennis and moustaches. by FranVadillo 2018-04-26T22:19:10Z

Had a good laugh at the setting and the gameover story(not the ending though 😒). The gameplay was tight. Nice work!

LD42 — Running out of space

Pineapple Run by yscik 2018-08-14T14:36:12Z

I like how clear the idea is, I was able to get into the game right after I started playing, no explaination required.

With some polish to how the character feels and maybe the tiniest bit of additional depth I'm pretty sure this could get very addictive fast. Do you have any ideas for new mechanics, like special blocks or maybe even enemies?

Corrupt Space by jmswrnr 2018-08-15T02:27:56Z

Short but very well made. I dig the art and the atmosphere, genuinely got unsettled by how claustrophobic it got in the second room. I'd be down to play a full game made out of this.

Little Shop of Junk by auxC 2018-08-19T14:50:20Z

Hi, as the guy responsible for balancing the game, I'd like to say sorry for the stupid difficulty spike around day 4, that one is on me. Will definitely fix this in the post-jam version(yes, there will be one).

Thank you @reax, @crazyd, @alex-brull, @mochakingup and everyone else for playing and leaving so much feedback - we really appreciate every comment we get here. Now it's time for me to play your games all day!

Survirus by AdultLink 2018-08-19T17:33:07Z

I had a lot of fun playing this. Gameplay feels dynamic and satisfying and is supported by graphics and audio that fit together into a consistent and very polished whole.

I wonder if there is a way to make it so that the game requires less peeking at the color cheat sheet. I found myself doing that quite often, despite trying my best to 'feel' more than I was 'thinking'.

Apart from that small dissonance I only have praise to say about this one. It looks good, feels good and leaves me wanting to play again after I lose. My favorite part is that intense moment when you fight over the last few remaining spots, frantically clearing one sector after another and hoping for that clutch Exploit to catch some breathing room and drag the game a little longer.

Impressive stuff, one of the best games I've played so far!

No Vacancy by Arbosis 2018-08-19T16:27:24Z

I was pretty stealthy until one running witness quickly spiraled into a small hotel rampage with bodies rolling everywhere. Shame there's no audio - I imagine it would be funny to hear something like a Willhelm Scream every time a guest started running away.

I had fun though and I think the scope is impressive. Good job getting the mechanics, AI and all this art done on time!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

For Brain ! by nolifedev 2018-12-06T00:32:42Z

Realizing what I have to do put a smile on my face, very clever use of the theme.

Character movement might be a bit rough around the edges, but it doesn't get in the way too much. Little trick you could use to make it a bit more responsive is to let the player jump for a fraction of a second after falling off a platform. This helps prevent some accidental deaths that might feel unfair sometimes.

Nitpicking aside, I would like to play more of this. It is simple, but in an elegant way. The retro aesthetic is well executed and cohesive, and it adds to the compact feel of the game.

Good zombie, I mean, great work guys!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Buried Things by Skyeward 2019-10-08T01:25:24Z

Hey, this is super well made! Running around the desert reminded a little bit of Minit, except here I'm trying to apply the shovel to everything instead of the watering can(If you don't know it I really recommend that game, it's super fun!).

Found 2 items so far and got stuck for a bit, but I find the ostrich entertaining so I'm gonna keep digging. See you in a while.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

I was supposed to get some rest after the jam, but ended up playing through your game instead. Superb entry, well done!

The Search for Catlantis by TheEarthAbides 2021-04-27T03:17:04Z

Nice, you got a proper bossfight in! Well executed game with great atmosphere. I was catjamming the whole way through! :D

Vain Vullet by SwiatowskiSoundDesign 2021-04-27T03:43:42Z

Hey, congrats on submitting the game! You got the ambience and the atmosphere right for sure. The camera controls were a bit of a surprise, but there is an interesting dynamic in there since you can't just flick the view to check what's behind you immediately. Pretty neat!

Hope you get to finish it later, but definitely get some rest first!

Boombox by auxC 2021-04-29T17:52:54Z

@poweranze Level 4 is 100 boxes long! We threw it in just for fun, but you do raise a good point about tension - we will have something better at the end in the post jam version.

LD49 — Unstable

Reactor Rush by auxC 2021-10-07T18:55:46Z

@martin-magni Hey, we'll throw some additional keybinds in the post jam. What do you like to use for jumping typically?

Beat Server by pickens-inc 2021-10-05T16:30:14Z

This game is neat and well made! I missed a bunch of beats at the beginning, but got the hang of it quickly and started scoring some serious points... Until the part with the 4 monitors, that was brutal! :D

Oh and I LOVED the voiceovers! I wish I could pull something like this off in one of my games!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Potat-OS by JMad 2022-10-05T02:09:38Z

Ahh, this brought some old windows nostalgia. Liked the humour and variety; good job getting a lot of minigames in! I got rekt when one champagne shower got interrupted by another though, that was fun :D

Are We There Yet? by CameronPenner 2022-10-04T03:48:15Z

I finally made it to THERE! Had a good laugh, especially when I first turned around to look at the backseat. Always love voice acting, and the harmonica makes the mood perfectly. Fun game!

Sailing through life by Chase of Bass 2022-10-05T02:23:38Z

Loved the innovative controls, and then fell in deep thought from the message. A very nice experience, thank you!

PS: I randomly stumbled onto this game, but used to follow you on twitter years ago. Glad to see you're still making cool stuff! :D

Le Petit Jardin by auxC 2022-10-22T19:32:04Z

Hey @buckbumble187, you make a lot of claims but I don't think other people who played the game share your views. I'll respond earnestly, but I really don't think there is a point arguing about ratings. For me the jam is a creative outlet, a time to get together with friends and have some fun making and playing games. You made a game, congrats - it's a quote from this site that I really like personally.

In response to criticism of how we handled the theme: We just wanted to make a game that was on the relaxing side, as most of the 10 second ideas we considered were either too frantic or stressful. The day night cycle switches through phases in 10 second intervals, making the garden grow and change. Is it a very light take on the theme? Yes, that's fair to say. Could we have fleshed it out more with different plants growing at different times, seasons changing bringing leaves to rake and snow to shovel? We very much wanted to! It is however a game jam, and what we ended up making is what we managed in the 72 hour window.

Statement of fact: everything here was made in the allotted time, and the work started after the announcement of the topic. We've been participating in this jam for a while, there are a ton of games you can look at to see if this one is an outlier.

Finally I'd like to say I really don't appreciate the comment you left on our itch.io page. It's one thing to be critical, but no need to cuss us out.

Le Petit Jardin by auxC 2022-10-23T20:10:31Z

@buckbumble187

Can't say I agree with your interpretation that we don't care about the jam(competition?) or the Theme. We gave it an honest shot, and people rated according to how they liked everything. We celebrated after hearing the results, the artist and level designer got hyped and are working on a small update. Hell, I even called my mom overseas to tell her we made something cool. :D It is nice to see people play and enjoy a game you made!

In response to claims about cheating and the role of the Theme category: You are not the arbiter of who gets to participate in the jam, nor do you get to decide who gets disqualified. Sorry to say, but arguing competitive integrity from an anonymous account with a fake game is grossly hypocritical.

You should give the rules a read, everything is explained clearly under this link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules. You might not care about how we tried to do the theme, but maybe at least you'll respect this quote from the official link above:

"It is fine to prefer games that do use the Theme, but don’t be a rude about. A game made in a weekend doesn’t always turn out the way you hope."

Le Petit Jardin by auxC 2022-10-23T20:55:59Z

@buckbumble187 What other jams do is not relevant. Feel free to raise whatever issues you have with the ruleset with the people who make the rules for this event.

Also: we ARE the contestants that "actually did the game jam". That you think otherwise is your opinion, and the only thing you can decide arbitrarily here.

LD52 — Harvest

Rogue Farmer by the3rdHunter 2023-01-11T03:44:40Z

Liked the retro vibe quite a bit! Also took me some time to figure out I can fight the monsters, but honestly it helped make them more scary. Shutout to main menu art, it was a nice touch, and there's something really funny about the monster peeking from behind a tree like that. :D

Farmula Grain Prix by Chase of Bass 2023-01-10T23:16:39Z

It's like the old, old Sprint games on arcade, except colourful and creative! I really liked all the neat little buildings I could place, got me curious to check out the pit stop a lot. Also respect for getting so many in for a jam game! Audio and visuals rule, and the pit stop menu of all things looks SICK. Awesome entry, great job!

Tony Crow's Pro Scyther by auxC 2023-01-11T01:00:23Z

Hey @moonlightbomber, gamepad controls should work! Tested it with just the xbox gamepad, so maybe something is afoot with other pads, but this should generally work:

@phillip-scott Thank you, just wanted to say getting all of those in one go is very impressive :D

Ah, I love mystery themes like this. The music really helps set up the eerie vibe. The art is great too, I like how every room plays with lighting differently.

The ending is indeed slick as somebody else mentioned. I would love to see a multi-loop version of this, with the player looking to break out of the continuum.

Great job with this entry!

Devil's Gone Nuts by StormForged 2023-05-03T06:16:45Z

Hell yeah, a giant chute spewing random items is a great idea(I may be slightly biased because I too have made a game with such mechanic once...).

Cool entry, music is a jam and the art has a spirit of PS2 era games, which I love.

Cool idea and pretty art. Lost a few times to sudden objects when close to top edge, but I managed to climb up a bit higher eventually!

Dancing With Bombs by Koxsol 2023-10-08T07:04:29Z

Super cool concept! Had me retrying quite a few times. It has that pull to try one more time, which is a great achievement in a jam. Congrats

You Wouldn't Download A Car... by the3rdHunter 2023-10-08T06:56:54Z

Love the humour and all the nostalgia. It was good to feel a little bit of that peculiar whimsy that Windows versions 95/98 had again.

What a nice, relaxing game! Great mood, amusing concept and a good ramp up of difficulty for the puzzles. Congrats!

LD55 — Summoning

Tao by leorean 2024-04-16T07:04:29Z

Great visuals, audio, level design and mechanics... Just all around a fun game to play. The skull summoning power feels clever to use while also being very simple to learn. And burning things out is just chef's kiss - both interesting for puzzles and satisfying to look at.

Congrats on the entry, excellent job!

Summoning Bumper by MatthiasBroske 2024-04-16T07:17:16Z

Love physics games and this one also has a good vibe of two buds just doing their best. Great entry, had fun :D

Dungeon Skater by mackain 2024-04-16T21:06:50Z

I think I played this one the most so far this jam. Brilliant simple idea that's just very fun to play. And the animations are funny. :D

Summoning Circuits by DarkWolf 2024-04-16T06:32:28Z

Level 3 was harddd! Fun puzzles and the game feels very sharp and concise, great job with that.

Summoning for Hungry Wizards by TheMoonrise 2024-04-18T22:50:25Z

Incredibly cute and well made game. Loved the mood with the music with dancing candles. Figuring things out was hard but entertaining. I think I was close, but ultimately ended up with lemons.

My favourite little piece of polish was the whisper chant playing during drawing. Very nicely done!

Fun minigame! I spawned a whole bunch of horses trying to get a unicorn as fast as possible.

Entity Summoner by Usenrame 2024-04-16T22:16:42Z

Loved the mood and all the interesting creatures you managed to put in this. The ingredients were clever and intuitive; I fumbled some in the beginning, but then managed to guess right several times in a row around the middle of the game, which felt good!

Good job, this a fun, well rounded entry!

Elemental Path by Luc-creationallabs 2024-04-16T06:11:21Z

Hey, we also made a game about a wizard in a cage! :D

This game is very neat and well made. It's super smooth! Appreciated that a lot when I needed a bunch of quick restarts to figure out the Brain Melter.

Kudos, very well done!

Mushroom Conundrum by auxC 2024-04-17T20:35:13Z

@pickens-inc Thank you for the kind words! This time it was a combined effort from Cameron, Greg, Veka, Tommy, Kris and Sarin. :D

LD57 — Depths

Really like the sound design here - every action has character in this game. Reminds me a bit of charming, older games that used to have bold sounds like this for various interactions and UI.

Eurydive! by Jack Turpitt 2025-04-08T18:13:39Z

Honestly this is a perfect jam game to me. Easy to pickup, fun to play and funny. The drawings and animations have a ton of character as well, kudos for that!

Helldriver 2 by oxnh 2025-04-08T17:45:32Z

Simple and fun. I agree it feels like and old-school browser game(in the best way!).

D.E.P.T.H. - Door Evaluation Protocols & Testing Hub by Sylf 2025-04-08T05:44:58Z

Hahaha, I got ejected into the skybox, came back and walked straight into a bluescreen. Love the idea and the humor!

Hey, your link goes to a 404 page! Will be back to check the game later :)

I lasted for quite a while I think, but also went deep red and eventually got assassinated. :D

Loved the aesthetics, both the art and animations. Ending cutscene is super stylish.

Voltaic Harvest by dxk2294 2025-10-07T04:01:45Z

Mad impressive and fun to play! Collecting lighting strikes is also an idea that just sounds really cool.

WonderBot: A Lofty Return by mortusnegati 2025-10-10T04:27:17Z

Man, if I could get this addicted to real cleaning... Also hello fellow vacuum-cleaning-game makers! :D

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Initially I saw all the dust I couldn't reach under the furniture and thought it was a bit of a shame, but then I realized I can upgrade to be able to get to it all. Very satisfying progression from that moment on.

Movement is smooth and fun. Leveling up to be able to jump almost to the ceiling level felt great.

I also really liked all the little secrets like the vents and finding the cat. So many nice details put into this.

All in all this is a superb entry, congrats!

Fantastic work with the backgrounds, that walk right after the first level is pure mood.

Happy Cleaning Co. by auxC 2025-10-07T01:29:39Z

@psevdonim Aghh, sorry about that! We had to take out the restart button last minute because of a bug. :(

Also hello everyone, didn't expect to see people here so early. I'm still taking screenshots and recording gifs to show on the page... :D

Happy Cleaning Co. by auxC 2025-10-09T06:05:12Z

I just pushed a patch! It should be no longer possible to get stuck with no items to be found. If all else fails, the restart level button is also fixed and available.
