LD42 — Running out of space

Backpack packer by dollarone 2018-08-28T05:19:37Z

Awesome job! I wish there were more levels, though! Also, only I believe the 2nd Pico game I've seen so far out of the ones I've played personally. Nice pixel art also! :)

Monster Girl Chaos: Hollow Apple by FireSlash 2018-08-16T21:12:47Z

Awesome job! I like the monster girls theme, pretty sure it's a common theme of "monster girls stealing husbands" ;)

Snakescape by krasse 2018-08-17T03:55:42Z

Fun game! I only managed to drop the snake into a hole like 40 times :)

Running Out in Space! by Ekilibr 2018-08-28T04:54:54Z

Great job! Cute pixel art and music that just seems to "fit" the mood of the game! Loved it!

Not Enough Space by urbanhelsing 2018-08-24T05:15:54Z

At first, I don't know what I expected. Then, 30 minutes later, when I was telling myself "Just ONE more try..." Yeah, you've got something pretty special here! :)

Backpack Squire by Squid 2018-08-28T22:22:33Z

Pretty fun little game. I like the Tetris-esque side of it as well. Charming graphics :)

Zecury by fingamer 2018-08-14T05:48:15Z

Great job! These type of games where you tell a story normally feel dull and boring to me, but you did a pretty good job of mixing that up with action sequences. The timed areas really add to the stress of the mood. Awesome entry!

Blowup by Gildar76 2018-08-28T22:18:20Z

You got a 5 on audio because this is one of the few entries I've seen that actually has a volume control so I didn't go deaf while playing it :)

Better Than Thanos by Vekstr 2018-08-15T04:38:33Z

Nice game, although I agree with some of the other comments, once you make the brush size bigger, it's a lot easier :)

Hyper Space Man by indegame 2018-08-28T12:58:59Z

Fun little game you've got here! I did find one thing that may be a bug, though. While playing the game, you can hit esc to go to the pause menu. If you look at the "how to play" screen from there, when you go back into the game itself, it restarts. At least it did for me :)

Blocks by Anubhav Kashyap 2018-08-15T15:58:26Z

Overall, amazing job, especially for just 5 hours! I do have to agree with a lot of the other comments, though. The blocks could maybe start out slower, and the jumping feels very "floaty". Still, great entry!

An Ode to Space by Omni 2018-08-28T16:57:36Z

I got 96 eggs! Cute pixel art, very minimalist, and the music fit the overall theme really well. Great entry! Would love to see more levels to be honest :)

The Red pixel by RainbowKappaGames 2018-08-28T05:09:49Z

A lot like my entry, yours could use some sound :)

Avarus by jeplmr 2018-08-14T05:10:22Z

Wow! Okay, so it took me 2 or 3 tries to figure out that the "swipe a coin to its match" meant like "blue with orange ring" matches "orange with blue ring". After that, my score went from 6 to like, 70 something. Awesome game!

Dark Lord Ludum Dare by MartinTristan 2018-08-15T15:51:35Z

Awesome game! Surprisingly difficult once you get a few levels deep :) Bonus points for referencing 42, lol.

Space Runner 2048 by RAFFE 2018-08-16T19:44:21Z

Nice entry! I agree with @neowhoru: Thought it was kinda easy then OMG black hole!!! :) Great job!

ClapBang by arron-fowler 2018-08-28T05:03:49Z

Pretty solid entry! Good use of the theme, and simple yet effective graphics and sound effects. Overall, I liked it!

Eviction Evader by NDHR Productions 2018-08-17T04:09:40Z

Throwing poo at lawyers? 10/10 :)

Fuoco and Tenebra by Optimans 2018-08-28T17:31:22Z

Great mood and atmosphere, I know a lot of others have mentioned "Don't Starve", and I thought the same thing. The music fit the spooky theme REALLY well! Awesome job!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-16T19:27:31Z

Interesting concept. I like the take on the "close a bunch of pop ups" but they're actually cool puzzles that you have to solve first. Neat idea!

Screen Saver by Sammy6 2018-08-14T02:43:37Z

This game was actually surprisingly fun! I'm old enough to remember actually USING windows 95, too, so this was kinda a blast from my past :) The music was catchy, and I like the different "game over" messages when you delete the wrong things. Great job!

If you have time, feel free to check out my Jam game as well.

XORN: The Fallen God by ThibaultAr 2018-08-28T17:07:29Z

I really enjoyed this game! The music fit really well and perfectly matched the stressful feeling of the floor falling out from underneath you! Great job!

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-20T04:20:29Z

Fun little game, although the control scheme definitely didn't make sense to me at first. Solid entry though. If you have time, you should check out mine here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/space-shipping

grOw by Sokuaisushi 2018-08-15T04:47:27Z

This was by far one of the most fun games I've played so far, although it was a bit short. I *think* I made it to the end, because there was a room with several red lasers and a green one with moving blocks. After I got to the exit of that room, it just took to me to an empty room. I'm calling it a win, anyway :)

Seriously, I love the look of the glow effect on everything. It's pretty great!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-28T04:49:33Z

Nice game! Good work on the audio as well. I agree with @wildcard that sometimes I couldn't jump off the platforms as they were moving down, I guess the game thought I was in a "falling" state so I wasn't allowed to jump.

Great job! :)

Tower of Destiny by Eric Schmiel 2018-08-14T05:33:46Z

Overall, I like your game. Super high difficulty curve, like Dark Souls but 8-bit. Only thing I personally found the music to be a bit too loud. Then again, I could have just turned my system volume down. Great job!

Shrinking Ceiling by drikdrok 2018-08-28T05:00:02Z

Fun game, although I do agree that it's rather brutal to start all the way over when you die.

Great job though! :)

Don't Drown by schsam 2018-08-14T02:09:55Z

Pretty fun, although (like my Jam entry) it could use some sound :)

Carter's Crates by Diego Escalante 2018-08-24T04:51:05Z

Fun game, but really hard! Solid entry to the compo!

Zombie Escape by Player 2 2018-08-16T18:56:23Z

Pretty solid game! Would like to see some type of limited ammo so I can't just blast everything to pieces, but otherwise the only thing I have to say is that I agree with the others who said the controls are a bit strange :) Still, great job!

RE:Boot by hollandgeng 2018-08-16T02:44:51Z

Pretty fun game! I like the different sound effects for all the different things you can do. Nice job!

Space Shipping by RubixNoob13 2018-08-14T15:41:57Z

I'm honestly blown away by the good feedback and the amount of people who apparently like my game, even without sound. :) I'll try to address some of your comments here, now that I figured out how to "at" people lol. I *DO* intend to flesh out some ideas a bit more and put up a follow up on the itch.io page once it's updated, for anyone who might be interested in that. @schasm Initial idea was to start with a 3x4 cargo hold size that you have to buy upgrades for, and/or bigger ship, so that cargo is harder to fit. Also, the longer you play, it was intended (but not implemented) to have a higher chance to get larger sized cargo so it's even harder to fit it all in your ship

@lynn-young Definitely planning to update in the future. Thanks for playing!

@mattincho I like the idea of being able to select more than 1 cargo

@bladesides I haven't thought about Resident Evil in a LOOONG time, but you're right, it DOES remind me of turning that first aid spray to make it fit beside things lol

@fingamer You're definitely NOT supposed to be able to move the cargo before it's in the ship. Also I noticed on my playthroughs that sometimes you can see some already placed cargo when you get to a new area to pick up cargo (it's between the cargo selection cards)

Thanks everyone who has played / rated so far, and I'll DEFINITELY play and rate any that I've not already done (I got quite a few in, then I had to pass out) :)

Space Shipping by RubixNoob13 2018-08-28T05:25:48Z

@vekstr No, and I don't believe it's possible to win the current build :) @alastairwyn I intend to add a tutorial to the post jam version, or maybe some better hints as to what you're supposed to be doing @roman-petrov Right on! I never had a Spectrum, being from the US here, but I watch a lot of gaming videos and have heard good things about them :)

SIZE Invaders by Alastairwyn 2018-08-28T04:57:15Z

Fun game. I think my high score was 14 before I gave up :)

Tale of the Bagger: A Love Story by trozen 2018-08-17T03:49:12Z

Loved it! I like the random backgrounds, the graphics and sound were awesome! Solid entry!

VoidStalkers by Iori Branford 2018-08-15T04:33:45Z

Really nice game overall! Love the art style and the sound effects! Great job! :)

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-16T02:58:37Z

The game runs fine on my PC, and the controls worked okay for me also. The only suggestion I have I think others have made also is that a colorblind mode would definitely be a plus for a lot of people! :) Great job by the way!

Cat´s personal space by DingoDize 2018-08-20T05:54:43Z

Fun game! As someone who has been a cat owner in the past, I can say that they DO love to knock *everything* off the shelf. Great job!

Occult Cowboy in the Salad Kingdom by Lynn Young 2018-08-17T01:04:50Z

I disagree with @ghostgoatsgames with the theme. If you play long enough, you'll notice the box slowly shrinking as you "run out of space". Fun idea, and I like the "demonic lettuce" :stuck_out_tongue: Nice entry!

RGBot by Jared York 2018-08-17T04:02:58Z

Really solid entry and I love the pixel graphics! :)

Save the dudes by jjcp 2018-08-17T01:00:20Z

Nice idea! Good pixel art! Much like my entry, could use some sound, but I get that you only had 72 hours ;) Great job overall!

Alchemist Dungeon by hexkritor 2018-08-15T02:41:09Z

Fun little game! I like the retro feel, and I'll definitely be checking back to see what kind of updates you make to it! The only thing that confused me was sometimes it seemed like the gas was "exploding", but all that did was make it go away, it didn't do any damage to the player as far as I could tell?

Awesome entry!

Space Collapse by Steffanie 2018-08-17T03:52:29Z

Pretty solid game, although the controls were a bit frustrating for me. Seemed like I'd be really slow one second, then like, super fast the next. Good job, though :D

Eterneroids by skytiger 2018-08-16T03:05:28Z

Really nice game! Much like my entry, it could use some sound, but the graphics are pretty solid and I actually like the idea of the ship rotating to face the mouse. Made me have to think a little more about how to shoot at things. Great entry!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Deadline by Sn4pi 2019-05-09T01:21:56Z

Great pixel art, catchy music. Sometimes the people I possess were a little too fast, so it was hard to not run them into the street by mistake. Otherwise, awesome entry! :)

Bzzorp by RubixNoob13 2019-04-30T18:12:34Z

@sn4pi Thanks for the suggestion! I completely forgot that there's an option in GMS for standalone exe or installer. I uploaded a standalone one as well and (hopefully) labeled them clearly!

Boxes Rush by Mia Devs 2019-05-09T01:00:45Z

Pretty fun little game, although the jumping is kinda buggy for me. Only seems to jump about 1/5 of the times I press the button. Otherwise, great job!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Ball of Duty: Special Drops by LandoSystems 2019-10-11T02:04:58Z

All I can say is "wow"! At first, I was like "Man, no audio?" Then I paid attention to the menu. Played it to the end, like 15 minutes (which is like 10 mins more than most things can keep my attention lol) Amazing job!

Ping Pong by Iak 2019-10-11T02:24:54Z

Yeah, this was really nice! My only complaint is the same as one of the anons above where for the first like, "yes" attempts to get out, I kept hitting the side and resetting, so I thought maybe I was doing it wrong. Turns out the ball just moves REAL fast  Really fun and I enjoyed the story you got going on here!

Just One More by grena 2019-10-17T04:05:42Z

Yeah, there were a few times where I noticed that I'd be moving one direction, press a different direction, and the character kept facing the way I was going in the first place. Then again, there were no animations, so you just kinda slide around anyway :stuck_out_tongue: All in all, this was a lot of fun!

Game from the Void by Cole and Jordan Studios 2019-10-27T19:40:01Z

Probably the best take on the theme I've seen out of all the entries I've played :)

The Whispering Forest by Mathstr0fficial 2019-10-12T02:25:31Z

Lots of nice things about the entry have already been said above, and I agree with most of them! Good voice over, nice artwork! My biggest concern was the "scribble" noise when the text was writing was too loud in comparison with the voiceover volume. Great job, though!

Enter the Abyss by GuitarBro 2019-10-09T05:30:02Z

Man, I gotta say this game hooked me right away. That warp-in animation is SICK! Then the music, the fog, the spoopy-ness! Pretty amazing, although I kept trying to find a "heal" spell lol!

There was something here by Adrien Dittrick 2019-10-11T02:39:30Z

Solid entry! Like a lot of the other comments above, I was a little confused at first, but when I figured it out, I ended up sitting here way longer than I anticipated! Great job!

Unraveling Nothing by Zachary Shah 2019-10-17T03:51:55Z

Awesome concept, although I'm not sure if it was me struggling with the controls, or just being bad in general at trying to play this game lol. I think I get the concept that you're supposed to like, swing and coil/uncoil Nothing around to be able to move through the level, but more often than not, I ended up falling to my death or running out of time. Still quite a bit of fun, to be honest!

If you have time, check out my entry at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/broken-broom-adventure

Broken Broom Adventure! by RubixNoob13 2019-10-11T18:03:46Z

Okay, time for a mass comment reply! - @iak I am definitely planning on expanding this in the future, so I'll try to keep you posted somehow - @justcamh I've been wanting to do procedural gen in something for a long time and keep putting it off as "too hard", but now that I've dabbled in it just a little bit, it's actually pretty easy. You should definitely check out the website I linked on the post, because it kinda steps through how the code works and breaks it down. I tried looking at the actual Spelunky source code, but "what even are comments?" Meanwhile, bobbo down there knows what's up. Currently the gen is very similar to Spelunky, except that instead of going down into some mines, you're trying to go UP and escape a dungeon! (and the map is 10x10, where Spelunky is like a 4x4 room grid) :stuck_out_tongue: - @minibobbo I've definitely re-thought the broom mechanics. Currently there is a lot of "spaghetti-code" in the jumping mechanic, step 1 is look at Finite-State machines so we can have a "We're falling, but we haven't flown yet, so we can start to fly now". I didn't even notice that you can stand off the ledge, but I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for the tip, that'll be added to the list (you SHOULD be able to have your toe on the platform, but not float off of it lol). As far as enemies, I have a few ideas for them in mind, probably some simple chase-pathfinding AI with another FSM so they'll go from "idle" to "attack" when they see the player. I know it's a little hard to tell from the art, but player is technically supposed to be a "witch" (hence the broom?) and I was going for sort of a Halloween theme, so enemies might be things like bats, evil pumpkins, ghosts, etc. Also the guards who put you in the dungeon in the first place. You were actually intended to have a VERY short (think melee range) attack, probably some type of magic sparkle thing, and there is a cell door for the area where you initially start which would require you to use this attack to escape.-> CellDoorBig.png I'm sure eventually there will be powerups and items to give different attacks with more range. - @lamossus I like the way the hovering feels as well. It's kind of designed to help give a boost if you need to to get up just a LITTLE higher, but you can WHOOSH over things like you mentioned (maybe pits of lava or spikes at some point?). I definitely wanted to allow flight after falling off the platform, but when I tried to implement it, as I was telling minibobbo above, I had some bugs and couldn't get it to work properly, so I just took it out to make sure the other things worked as intended before releasing it. The generation is kinda a proof of concept, I am planning to expand it to be able to look less like it's done on a big grid, as well as to combine some textures for optimization, since right now the entire map is literally a 10x10 box of 8x10 rooms, plus the outside impenetrable border tiles (the reddish ones on the edge). I think those are 3 high and 4 wide, so maybe 106 x 84, which is like 8904 total map tiles. Right now, those are all individual sprites in Godot, which thankfully works on most of the things I tested on. However, I've since done some optimization checks, and with a little optimization, I got another render test to go from "way too many single tiles" running at like 51 fps with vsync disabled to like "a few textures that have a lot of tiles drawn on them" running at around 2100 fps with vsync disabled (yeah, that's like 40x faster!) Essentially a lot of the background tiles don't do anything really, other than make the background "not just gray", so they can be static, which allows more processing for stuff that matters (like collisions on terrain and enemies and stuff).

Whew! I think this is the closest to the 4096 character limit I've ever made it on a post, so I'm gonna wrap this one up. Thanks for all the feedback so far, and thanks for playing to everyone who's done so!

Broken Broom Adventure! by RubixNoob13 2019-10-12T02:51:04Z

@tohubohu If you look at the screenshots on the page, the last one shows the "exit" area (it's really not super obvious and it's only that color because there's just no textures there at all and that's the background of the room lol)

Broken Broom Adventure! by RubixNoob13 2019-10-12T04:36:49Z

@plazmaz Yeah, there's not a lot of gameplay (yet), because due to RL things I was only able to devote about 12 hours of actual time to working on this during the jam.

@julianbeutel Thanks so much! As far as I know, you're the first Mac user to download and test it, and this project is the first thing I've released using Godot engine, so basically I just had to assume it would work correctly since I don't have a mac to test on. But I know the Mac community often feels left out at release time, so I thought I'd try to be inclusive lol

Broken Broom Adventure! by RubixNoob13 2019-10-28T15:03:16Z

Thanks everyone for the comments and feedback! I do fully intend to do more work on the post-jam variant, which I've actually already started work on, but between full time job and learning Godot it's taken a bit longer than I expected to refactor what I got done during the jam and get back up to speed. But it's coming, and I'll continue to post updates either here or just on the Ludum Dare page in general when I hit a major milestone. Like *gasp* maybe, enemies?

Shadowy Monster Land by Space Wumpus 2019-10-12T02:48:53Z

Monster sounds: 11/10! Pretty solid entry, especially for the compo! I barely get things done for the jam and that's like another whole day! :)

Youre Being Chased By Nothing by Emily Ghostbreze 2019-10-11T02:47:32Z

So far, this has been the best "spooky" entry I've played in a long time! Sure, there's not a lot of like, action per se, but that builds up the tension and suspense for when things DO happen! Great entry!

First Time Game Dev by ElvenKingLoki 2019-10-17T03:55:46Z

I understand completely running out of time or following tutorials that aren't complete. Don't let that get you down, at least you got something published! Keep working on it and see what you can make!

MetaSpace by Jahwffrey 2019-10-11T02:17:35Z

FMV with like, at *LEAST* 7 pixels and 4 Frames per second. Amazing! 10/10 would play again!

Prison Escape by shaurya_juneja 2019-10-12T02:45:12Z

Okay, I was starting to think this was actually impossible til I read some other comments. Pretty solid entry for a first attempt. I grew up playing platformers, and this one killed me like, probably 100+ times. Good job!

LD46 — Keep it alive

The Heart Of The Keep by BluShine 2020-04-25T19:14:18Z

I've already responded to your comment on my game, but HOLY WOW the mood in your game... Fantastic! BGM is ON POINT. I grew up playing on Atari 2600 and NES consoles, so this takes me back to those days. Amazing entry! :D

Extreme Gardening by lilwavep 2020-04-25T18:01:02Z

Fun little game! I enjoyed the audio quite a lot. My only complaint is the hit boxes on the locusts were maybe a little small, as during the first swarm I had one hiding on the left side of the screen that I simply could NOT hit for about 10 seconds, even though I was clicking what I was PRETTY SURE was right on top of him :P Still, great entry, fun game!

Your Pet Alien by AdonisDevs 2020-05-01T05:32:02Z

I only made it about 18 hours. I agree with a lot of the other comments I'm seeing above that I didn't really understand where mom was until she just walked into the room. The sounds were also a bit creepy, maybe it's the echo effect on them? I *DID* really enjoy the game, and you've already played mine, which was also made in Godot. I *do* know that textured buttons were a thing, but I was in a hurry and ran out of time to draw cute buttons for mine :D Still, really good entry and fun game! Great job!

Crossroads by gamebuilder 2020-04-25T17:49:52Z

I thought this was a really solid entry, and I didn't follow the hint sheet, either. You just have to listen to Stella and actually read what she says. I did notice, however, that even after getting some victory text and messages, I was able to just keep wandering around for a while, so I agree that maybe the victory screen should be more "obvious" or possibly stop you from going further or something.

Awesome entry, I enjoyed the story, the atmosphere, the music. @gamebuilder please tell bcavv and genie they did awesome as well, since it won't let me @ them here :)

Gunther's Plant 😃 by Lemons 2020-05-01T05:45:44Z

OMG This game is GREAT! The voice acting is great! Unlike what the others said up top, I wasn't able to see seams between tiles (Windows 10 running the HTML5 version in FireFox) However, if you're using Godot, which I believe it said you were, check project settings and under 2D there should be a "use pixel snap" option, which *should* prevent tiles from not being aligned properly. The only complaint I have is that I feel as though the game should pause when you bring up the quest journal. That's basically the ONLY negative I have about this game, other than (so far) I haven't been able to win... But I'm about to play it again and see lol

Bringing Home the Bacon by RubixNoob13 2020-04-25T17:29:48Z

Thanks everyone who has played and rated so far! I need to get to work rating some more games myself today since I think I've only rated about 3 games (above says 2.25, but I know some games like, had no audio so I couldn't actually rate them on sound) :)

@blushine As far as the story, my girlfriend basically wrote that for me, and I liked the idea. I had originally intended to have even more management features included, which is why the rock didn't make a lot of sense. You were intended to also have to make tools with wood from the woods and rocks from the rock pile (axe for wood cutting, pick for clearing rocks). Then, periodically there would have been a rock slide event, which caused the river to become blocked, requiring you to clear it or the pigs and corn would run out of water. And of course, the tools would also run out over time. So, if you used all of your wood to stoke the dragon's fire, then your axe broke, either a) you'd die or b) there may also be an option to sell some of the corn to a market for $ to buy tools, but then if you sell too much feed you don't have enough to keep the pigs happy, etc. There was also intended to be rules that make more sense (internally at least) on, for example, the lower the water gets for crops, the less feed you get until you take care of them. Currently, everything has a hard coded speed multiplier on how quickly it depletes, then an RNG range of how much energy it consumes / how many resources you get per clicking on something.

Due to time constraints, the crafting aspect was scrapped and now you click on a rock that's blocking the river to get water. Yeah, it doesn't make a ton of sense out of the context of what was in my head for the game idea initially lol. As for the instructions, I had actually put in ALL of the little pop-ups to be helpful so there was some explanation, then I thought I should *maybe* put in an instructions screen as well, since otherwise the game literally just throws you onto a screen with 9 bars counting down and like, NO idea what to do.

@sp3sheep To be fair, the sound effects and instructions screen were thrown together with about 30 minutes left before the deadline to start submission, then I had to look back at a prior project of mine because I was drawing a complete blank on how to even play a sound from Godot (it's super easy, I was just brain melted by that point lol)

Thanks again for playing and if you've read this far into my ramblings!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-05-01T05:22:48Z

I made it 5:11 and got 14530 points. I agree somewhat with @adonisdevs that the pacing seemed a bit slow, however once it picks up, whew! I actually found it a little charming that some of the enemies got stuck on the walls, almost like "I'ma get that heart... one day..." and the other viruses just looking at him like "That's Jeff, he's not too bright, but he means well..." Overall, really solid entry and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I know your page said you didn't make all the assets etc, but everything seemed to fit together really well, and the music and sound effects fit well with the overall aesthetic of the game. Great job!

Desertification by hwaet 2020-04-22T02:25:48Z

I agree with @bebadboi I wasn't really sure what the wells were doing, but I got victory as well. Fun little game! :)

Desertification by hwaet 2020-05-01T05:35:43Z

I just realized that I already played your game (after you rated mine and I came here to play yours lol) I remember not having much clue as to what effect the wells etc were having, but the artwork is AMAZING! I definitely think you should continue developing this into a more fleshed out game. Great entry!

Chasse Gardée by FrancescoPanini 2020-04-25T19:31:04Z

Solid entry to the jam, cute graphics, and a fun game overall! :) Actually rather difficult, I'll have to come back later and see if I can actually beat this game :)

Burning Out by Emil Sitell 2020-04-25T19:04:52Z

Pretty good game! I do like the pixel art, as I've recently started dabbling in pixel art myself. I did notice some of the sprites feel a bit out of place, like when you drop berries, they're HUGE. I mean, I'm sure you did this so they were easier to spot, but I think maybe 1/2 or even 1/4 that size would still work with the aesthetic and not look like watermelon sized berries :D Still, pretty fun game and I like the mood, the music helps with the kinda bleak atmosphere.

Keep It Alive by minnka 2020-05-02T21:40:17Z

I thought that the monster looked more like Elmo @alexrose except he had dice for eyes for some reason? It was a pretty good entry, however I got to a point where it seemed like all the people were spawning above me and I couldn't run any farther "north / up" on the screen. Also, was there supposed to be sound? I'm on Win10 using FireFox browser and there didn't seem to be sound for me. Still, pretty fun little game!

Try To Not Die by DrKfir 2020-04-24T08:52:29Z

Capture.PNG Really fun game! Good entry, especially for a first jam! And I read the directions and took a screenshot since I got to 50 points :D

Message by NoamRaz 2020-05-02T21:33:47Z

@noamraz This was a pretty solid entry! I really liked the art style and graphics, especially the boss. I did notice a few issues with the player being so big and sometimes getting stuck to the side of platforms, and once I tried to go left first instead of right, and I just fell through the map and then could just walk to the right and not have to jump, but also it didn't trigger the boss fight so I had to restart. Still, this was a really good game and I actually enjoyed it, despite it being pretty short. I do agree with @ricksquanchez that the movement is a little slippery, maybe add some friction so that when the player lets go of the button, the character decelerates a little faster? just a thought :D

Drivin' Alive by bziarkowski 2020-04-25T18:47:45Z

Fun game. I see a lot of complaints about the ambulance portion, and I also wasn't the best at driving it, but the secret *seems* to be just TAP the turning controls, otherwise you slide around like mad. Still, fun game, awesome graphics, and bonus points for the Rubik's cube actually doing something when you click it (look my profile picture lol)

Fuel the Flame by TheStreet 2020-04-22T02:30:59Z

Pretty difficult little game, too bad there didn't seem to be any sound or music when I played it? That might have added to the atmosphere a bit more. Still, great job!

Genki by GOD COLO 2020-04-25T18:13:05Z

YOO! That was friggin' awesome! I made it to 191s, and the ONLY complaints I had were that I couldn't shoot fast enough to kill more of the things trying to kill me xD That and the lack of a restart button so I could kill more of them. The soundtrack is BANGIN'! I see in the comments above that you credited the source, A+ in my book. Awesome selection, solid entry, and hopefully we'll BOTH have more time to work on our entries in LD47 (I probably only had about 12 hours total for mine this time around, and yours looks much more solid than mine to be honest, lol) Great job! :D

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Village by akai_0okami 2020-10-24T16:57:37Z

I would have made it out of the loop on the first day, except I accidentally selected a wrong option when confirming the trade :) Cute artwork, catchy music, and a fun little puzzle game world to explore, although not really a lot of exploration :P

Progress. by AidanMarkham 2020-10-27T03:24:06Z

Amazing graphics, and I absolutely LOVED the ending! The concept of balancing what actions you can take is brilliant! The only thing I can see that a lot of people agree with me on skimming others' reviews is that the time to hold the R button to restart and the fade in once you restart is too long, it could be cut in half or possibly even 1/4 and would speed up the pace of the game immensely, without taking too much away from the overall experience, and making it less tedious. Still, fantastic job!

Electron the Electrical Engineer by xilentor 2020-10-25T18:49:12Z

Really fun game, would have benefited a lot from music or sound effects, though  I finally gave up on #24, altho I may give it another go later on. Solid entry though! Great job!

BØNE LOOP by Disco_Pope 2020-10-16T02:50:05Z

This was actually pretty fun! I didn't feel under pressure to kill everything right away, because the skeletons weren't super aggressive, but that just made the game feel relaxing like @krysh mentioned. Great entry!

WHILE (TRUE) by smiley 2020-10-16T15:53:25Z

I love that we both had the same idea for a game title lol! I actually originally wanted to come up with some type of programming puzzle game, but didn't get to spend as much time as I'd like working on mine and had NO idea how to implement this. Your game worked as intended, I didn't notice any bugs, and the music was pretty catchy! Only suggestion I'd have for the future is more puzzles and maybe a non-linear path for more area to explore but yes, this was a lot of fun and probably the highest ratings I've given out so far this jam ^_^ Edit: Also, I appreciate the idle animations for Bob looking around. Subtle, but I noticed them :)

Loop Lock Malfunction by GuitarBro 2020-10-16T15:42:55Z

I was also having issues with the camera being silly, the other thing I noticed was there was no indication of what rooms I'd already been in, so sometimes I'd get turned around and go back through 3 or 4 rooms I had already cleared before finding more enemies to run into. The little turrets also shoot really fast, making it hard to slide under the lasers without getting shot sometimes. Or maybe I'm just a Noob. It was fun to play, good music, awesome graphics, and an overall very solid entry!

FIREWALL SURFER by Tim Eriksen 2020-10-26T23:56:45Z

So, I think that the game COMPLETELY fits with the theme, considering you're LITERALLY "stuck in a loop" the entire time. Although I think I broke the game. I ran out of time, then let the game take me back to the beginning. I beat the first level, and I noticed that the second level was different this time around. I thought maybe it's just RNG. So then on the third attempt, I was in the level marked "MAINFRAME". Then, of course I failed that one because HOLY DIFFICULTY lol.

So, it took me back to level one, I collected the password letters, then THIS happened: Capture.PNG

Yes, that says the level is "Hacked" but the timer is just counting down to negative infinity, as far as I can tell, and I'm stuck in place on the side of the screen. I *guess* I broke out of the loop, though? lol

Update: I tried again a few minutes later and really worked on the timing, then THIS happened: Capture1.PNG

Looping Madness by Croped 2020-10-17T15:52:24Z

So on about my 4th or 5th attempt at your game, it dawned on me as some of the others have stated that not only are you in a loop, but ALL the other planes seem to be in a loop as well. And the music is just a never ending loop... Really well done! I like the simple graphics, but the smoke and particles are some nice touches that add so much to the overall experience of this game! Would love to see a post jam version if you can come up with any other ideas to improve upon it! I thought my high score of 131 was pretty good until I looked at your screenshot lol

The Wasteland by wrimo 2020-10-24T15:42:36Z

Turning is extremely slow, and sometimes when you get off the road or turned around, there's not really a good indication of where to go to get back to where you want to be to try and avoid death. I'd have also loved to have some sound effects or some music.

As a positive note, the graphics were kinda cute, even though the "car" looks more like a face to me :)

Suitcase Panic by TheInkSkeleton 2020-10-24T16:32:19Z

I know you mentioned it in the description, but any type of sound would add a lot to the game. Even just a few "bips" or something when you click on items. Also, I kept having an issue with the Score panel. It was only about halfway on the screen in my browser, and sometimes people would stand behind it, so I could only see about 1/2 of what was supposed to be in that person's suitcase. Also, a few times I dropped a suitcase inside the scanner and couldn't seem to pick it back up. The artwork was kinda cute, though. I liked the "Steve Smash" Minecraft looking game in some of the suitcases :)

While(True) by RubixNoob13 2020-10-16T15:04:40Z

@egan-henderson Thanks for the feedback! I actually intended for you to fall really quick. What I apparently forgot to do was to check if you hit the height of your jump and then ALSO make you fall quicker, so it makes the jumping inconsistent at the moment. Something to work on in the future :)

While(True) by RubixNoob13 2020-10-16T16:08:29Z

@blacklambert Yeah, once I learned how to do the collision detection with the player and the tilemap, it was pretty easy to figure out how to swap out tiles, so I decided that marking the one that killed you was a nice touch :D

While(True) by RubixNoob13 2020-10-17T15:55:43Z

@whynotyt I noticed that bug as well. For some reason, the way Godot is detecting the collision between the player and the tilemap that makes up the level doesn't seem to care if you're in a certain spot. For some reason it's just like "That's not a spike" when it CLEARLY is!

I've been tweaking it a bit since the jam and managed to fix that specific bug, but haven't made enough changes to re-upload a post-jam version or anything just yet. Thanks for the feedback though!

While(True) by RubixNoob13 2020-10-27T00:09:56Z

@nikolavuk Yeah, sorry for the "ending", I actually had MUCH more planned with this, just simply didn't have the time to implement everything. The concept was going to be that it FELT like the same thing, but every time through the loop, something minor would change, such as a block disappearing which would eventually (after enough loops) let you break out. I was also planning on enemies but all you get are spikes, sorry

LaserLoop by Neon Glass 2020-10-24T16:51:56Z

Despite a lot of people saying the puzzles were easy, there were a few that tripped me up for a while. Not that I'm like, world's best puzzle solver or anything, but yeah, it took me a bit to solve a few of these. I liked the graphics and the music was pretty catchy as well. Overall, great job. Would love to see this expanded with more puzzles added :)

Stuck in a pool! by BlackLambert 2020-10-16T16:07:29Z

The music was catchy, I L O V E the spinning logo loop <-> pool, and the game was pretty fun to be honest. I enjoyed it, great entry!

Remember your actions by Sli 2020-10-17T16:04:58Z

This was actually a lot of fun to play! I made it all the way to the last level before I managed to forget what I had done, and then I messed up like 8 times in a row lol.

Music was pretty catchy, and I like how you added some variety with the enemies not appearing until later. Great job!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-16T03:08:05Z

This... was amazing! I could legitimately just sit and listen to the music loop for a couple of hours and just chill out. It reminds me vaguely of like, N64 Zelda Ocarina of Time running across Hyrule Field and just being young Link and smashing pots and stuff. The amount of "+= " I got was ridiculous, and I still managed to get about 4600 points on my first try, not too shabby.

Jonny D. Jobs! by WhyNotYT 2020-10-17T15:45:55Z

This was a pretty simple game, but well done and I enjoyed playing it. I'm also surprised that no one else in the comments has mentioned that one of the company names says "Legal Lolis" Great entry, although I did have issues getting the cloth to pick up in the shoe shine mini game. I think it was just waiting for the last pair of shoes to be finished before it would let me pick up the cloth to clean the next pair, possibly? Still, good job!

Hamster Simulator by snowinn 2020-10-24T16:27:15Z

I played this way longer than I want to admit. Is the time supposed to reset when you run out of endurance, though?

I was actually thinking about Miziziz(iziz?)'s tutorial when I saw the RL hamster overlaid with the tracing

Mid-Life Crisis by swimdoctor 2020-10-16T16:00:05Z

I agree with a lot of others that sound makes a big difference, even if just some "boops" or "beeps" when you click on buttons. That and I was having trouble figuring out exactly which bars did what, then I kept dying in my sleep. RIP

Pete Repeat by ChilleBigPP 2020-10-16T02:57:21Z

Honestly so far this is the weirdest experience I've ever had with Ludum Dare. The game gave me the "Fatal Error" message not once, but twice. I ALSO got the game launching SteamVR on my system like @cubiclaw above me. That's so random! But yeah, the difficulty was also pretty high. Good pixel graphics, cute music, pretty solid entry overall, after all the strange... quirks of launching it lol!

Magic Rush by Verga 2020-10-27T04:41:01Z

Cute pixel graphics, pretty awesome music track, but I'm not sure if you made it for the jam or not since you opted out of Audio voting. Good concept. I would have liked the jumping to be different depending on how long you hold the button, but overall this was a pretty good entry and a fun little game. Don't see many python games in the jam most of the time it's Unity about 95% lol

Time Saver by Daniikk1012 2020-10-16T15:26:28Z

I love the pixel art! The game was fun and SUPER challenging (like, 1 hit kills you, ouch!) I played through it until I got the portal to close, but then nothing happened. Did I break it, or is that the end?

Time Saver by Daniikk1012 2020-10-16T15:55:29Z

Right! I played the original release to give proper Jam feedback. Guess I should go play the updated version now as well :)

Stix by Sombrero Guy 2020-10-26T06:32:01Z

11/10 would collect more sticks! The first time I ran out of stamina and there was actually a "fall down, then slowly get back up" animation, I was like "Yep, they nailed it" Great job!

Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Never-ending! by Egan Henderson 2020-10-16T03:18:02Z

Pretty good entry, but I agree that the stick figure doesn't really fit with the rest of the graphics. Still, good entry :D

Loop of Life by Marin840 2020-10-24T16:02:14Z

I enjoyed the voxel graphics and the sound for the dialogs made me chuckle. I do agree that some of the mini games need more feedback, maybe sounds or something from Unity's Particle System. I also thought the bouncing movement was pretty cute, although movement could be a bit faster in my opinion.

The "work" minigame would also be extremely difficult if not impossible for someone who is colorblind, as according to color-blindness.com, "More than 99% of all color blind people are suffering from a red-green color vision deficiency." Just something to keep in mind for the future to make your games more accessible to everyone!

Overall, great job though!

Endless Grind by Stratobox 2020-10-27T04:25:47Z

I liked a lot of things about this game, the graphics, the gameplay, the genre. I do think some kind of minimap or indicator of where the last enemy is when you kill everything but 1 would be helpful. Also, the music seemed rather cheery and upbeat for a dungeon crawler, but it was a pretty catchy tune. Overall, really good job and this could definitely be expanded into something really great in my opinion!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Burry this… Thing by LeReveur 2021-05-03T22:15:52Z

Overall, really good for a "troll entry" as you call it. I think my best was only 102, because I kept hitting the wrong button once it got to 4 controls (looks like from some of the screenshots it goes to at least 6? I can't imagine trying to keep up with that haha)

Music was surprisingly good for a simple game, and (like yourself) I wasn't super thrilled about the theme either, lol. Still, good entry!

Rock Bottom by Josh6680 2021-04-30T04:22:51Z

Overall gameplay is pretty good, controls were responsive. Only problem I had was the mouse kept going out of the window, causing my to click out of the game. When this happens, it doesn't pause, so the bats usually killed me at least twice while trying to get the mouse back in the window lol

Hole Town by dob 2021-04-30T06:42:21Z

Great little puzzle game, and I especially like the larger rocks falling to the bottom, as it adds an extra layer of challenge to the game! Really solid entry!

Deep Space by Neowedge 2021-05-11T16:00:38Z

This is a fun concept game, although I didn't have any sound when I played it at all so far? I also didn't see my shields recharge, like, ever, but none of the enemies managed to hit my hull, either, so I never ran out of shields.

Reminds me a lot of FTL. Still, pretty well done entry and cute graphics!

Match! Drop! Match! by clue 2021-04-30T07:03:20Z

I was also a bit confused at first by the mechanics (thought you had to drag on 3 shapes that were ALL the same color) :)

Air-O-Space by zoarfy 2021-05-06T03:47:33Z

The aliens are very cute, but I kept trying to focus on EVERYTHING and then freaking out when I missed a breathing click and yeah, it didn't go well for me.

It was fun, though :D

Beneath by Rewzu 2021-05-02T06:00:49Z

Really solid entry, nice graphical effects overall, proving that you don't need a super exciting character for a good game, sometimes a cube is just fine :)

A Cat in the Aliens' Lair by Sheinxy 2021-04-30T06:19:14Z

Fun little game, and a different take than a lot of the submarine-related games I've played so far :) (Even tho most of them were good, that was an idea I noticed a lot of people seem to have come up with all at once lol) Anyway, I'm rambling. The pixel art is adorable, really one of the only critiques I have is that the hitbox for pushing buttons was a little bigger than the cat, so sometimes I would push a button before I even got to the button, which threw off my brain just a tiny bit. But still, fun game, catchy music, and thanks for your suggestion on my game, because you were right about positional audio being why things were only coming out of the left ear :)

Lost Contact by DrSkort 2021-05-06T03:35:08Z

The graphics were amazing! I liked all the subtleties like how it gets slowly darker, then your lights come on, etc. I will say I was a bit disappointed by the ending after all of the grind it took me to get there. But still, was a fun little game and if I forgot to mention it, the music was pretty good, too! :)

UnderwOtter by pixelbug 2021-05-01T02:57:36Z

This game was really cute! I really like the pixel art, and either I'm really bad at it, or it took way too long for me to master when to boost and when to just swim to make it between air pockets. Very solid entry, though! I do agree with everyone who said pressing E was too much. That caused me to run out of air like 50 times trying to get one of the treasures and turn around and get back to an air pocket while I had air left

Don't Splat The Bat! by RubixNoob13 2021-04-28T03:12:07Z

@sheinxy I was thinking it might make a fun mobile game as well with a few tweaks. I'm not sure what happened with the audio. It seems like when I made the Windows build everything works fine, but when I built the HTML5 option from Godot, it may have converted the audio to mono, because it seems like most of the sounds were coming out of the left side. I'll have to see if I can figure that out at some point for the web build and fix it. Thanks for the feedback! :) *Update: See in the description. I didn't realize that the AudioStreamPlayer2D in Godot is positional, and most of them were sitting on the root node at 0,0, so on the top left side of the screen. Makes sense that the audio all ended up on the left side. THANKS again for your help! :)

Don't Splat The Bat! by RubixNoob13 2021-04-30T07:03:41Z

@dob I spent more time than I care to admit trying to find a good balance for the rocks. It always seemed like either you were going too slow and the rocks were super easy to avoid, so it seemed to take forever to start moving, or you were going way too fast and/or there weren't enough rocks at high speed, so it was pretty easy to just dodge them. I am pretty proud of the sonar graphics myself TBH lol

@qzqxq I had initially intended to add in some powerups to regain health, I was thinking fruit as the face for my hand drawn bat is based on a google search for "cute fruit bat" or something along those lines where they have huge eyes and people are holding baby fruit bats and feeding them watermelons, etc. I just got down to a time crunch so the powerups were cut out for now. I also wanted it to get darker (it will eventually get pretty dark, there's a layer with RGB 0,0,0 that once you make it down to around 40k depth it will be at 90% opacity, which makes it pretty tough to see) I had actually also considered a stamina meter of some type for slowing down, which will most likely end up in the game if I continue development into a phone game (girlfriend has suggested it would possibly make a fun phone game as well, I'm just not 100% sure what the controls would look like for that, like swipe controls or on screen buttons) Thanks for the feedback and the kind words, though :)

Don't Splat The Bat! by RubixNoob13 2021-04-30T22:52:39Z

@metapoua Just curious, what browser are you using? I've tested it in Firefox and Chrome, but only under Windows. What's odd is that there is nothing that color in the game itself, even the background in Godot behind all the graphics is just a light gray color, nothing magenta at all. Super weird, unless maybe it was some glitch on itch.io end of things? Hmmm

The Deep Web by William Corrin 2021-05-06T02:45:57Z

Really like this concept (altho I really like Synthwave, also) :)

Good graphics, good music, and a fun little game! Great job!

Dive into the abyss by xiyou 2021-05-01T16:08:50Z

Fun little card game, and a nice change from a lot of the other platformer-like submarine games I've seen so far. I still think the cards could stand to get even darker and/or more grayed out (maybe drop the saturation value of the color to make them more bland?) when they can't be used. I kept finding myself trying to use an attack card when I had just used something that said "Use another non-attack card" because it was still pretty bright so I thought it wasn't locked :) Fun game, great job!

Bandit! by Fer9001 2021-05-03T22:23:06Z

Pretty fun game, reminds me of really old Atari 2600 and Apple II games I played ages ago. I wish that the buttons were all on the WASD side, not sure why I had to use arrows for up and down but also AD for movement. Seemed to be clunkier than necessary for that, but still. Good graphics, cutesy music track, overall really solid entry to the Jam!

Happy submarine by Rubyes 2021-04-30T04:45:04Z

Overall this was a great entry! I agree with most of the other comments as well, the music really set the mood, and the gradual darkening of the environment coupled with the flashlight made for a lot of tension. The ending was kind of sudden once I made it there, however. But overall, still a great little game!

Sewer's Plague : Into the nest by Nicolas Revillon 2021-05-03T22:30:42Z

Graphics and sound were amazing! I agree with a couple others that some of the mechanics were a bit strange, but I think it was more just me being bad at trying to play than the game itself.

Did I mention the graphics were amazing? Like, seriously, really good! :)

Sewer's Plague : Into the nest by Nicolas Revillon 2021-05-04T19:08:29Z

@pierre-morreel Where would I start to learn to draw like this? Any pointers?

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-04-30T05:03:41Z

Interesting take on the theme, but I don't have a ton to add other than what people here have already said. All of *my* graphics were made by me in Paint.net, which is why they look like programmer artwork xD

you are chained to an egg and are falling down a pit by goblinkingmatt 2021-04-30T16:12:36Z

Eventually, I was chained to an egg and stuck in the wall, tho: - stuck_in_wall.PNG But I mean, other than that the music and atmosphere is pretty amazing for such a simple game. Great job!

Deep Sea by WuzzyWizard 2021-05-03T14:35:41Z

The amount of polish in this is INSANE! The knockback from the gun makes you really have to plan your shots or where you're standing, otherwise you'll fall off the platform or get knocked through the floor. The blood splatter fits nicely with the aesthetic, and you have BOSS FIGHTS with more than 1 attack? Like, I'm amazed to say the least! The music fits the atmosphere as well!

So on first play through I died before getting to what I assume is the final boss. Wanted to stop and write this review, but I'm sure I'll be playing this entry a bit more to see if I can actually beat it lol

Edit: Beat on 2nd try, final time 189

Voyager by RajatG 2021-05-14T17:10:11Z

Pretty solid entry. As far as the graphics, I actually find them kinda cute, although I'm sure they were supposed to be meteors, my brain saw them as looking more like potatoes in space. So, guide the astronaut through the SPACE POTATOES to get to the black hole!

I do agree that any music or sounds can help. If you're a noob like me, I recommend using SFXR https://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html

While I was typing this, I remembered seeing an HTML5 port, so I put that here too as well: http://github.grumdrig.com/jsfxr/

PANEMUAN by etrealjunior 2021-05-06T03:07:04Z

This was a really good entry! The mood and atmosphere is amazing, and it took me more than 1 play through to get to the "real" ending! Great work!

Deep into the Forest by Collin Visser 2021-05-09T04:29:16Z

This was a pretty cute little game, although I was sad that there wasn't music before the final boss fight :) I also never made enough gold to buy any upgrades (they were 25 and 50, I ended up with like, 7 gold before I won the game) Still, it was adorable and I enjoyed it quite a bit! Great job!

Haunted Pizza Delivery by msipp27 2021-05-03T22:10:09Z

This was a pretty solid entry, but a couple things I noticed were that I got stuck against walls quite a bit, like I would jump and then was just sort of floating against the wall until I moved away from it. Also, the music was a little repetitive as well. Still, pretty good entry, and I agree that I was kinda hoping for a different them to win. But that's the fun of Ludum Dare, you work with the theme you're given and go from there

Pirifurm DCleaner by emeraldboy44 2021-05-03T16:13:49Z

I managed to keep minecraft.exe and bandicam.exe, but I deleted dad's resume and some school assignments. Oops! Guess I'll just have to start a Minecraft Let's Play channel to support the family now!

Great entry and I had a lot of fun playing this one!

Deep In Time by Kitsomo 2021-05-03T04:48:35Z

Overall fun game, especially once you get the hang of what you're doing. I think the turret pointing at you immediately at the start of Level 1 gives some idea of how difficult this game is going to be, however :smiling_imp:

I do also feel like maybe the tutorial should have just been the first level or some on screen text, because it does whiz past very fast :) Still, a great entry and I really enjoyed the bass in the music track!

Depth of Death by KenForest 2021-05-01T15:53:03Z

Good game, although I agree that the shotgun damage should be increased, especially with the much slower fire rate than the pistol. The atmosphere was amazing, although I think it could even use MORE of the random thumps and creaks thrown into the background. Really solid game, and the final boss fight was fun. I don't know if I even got hit during any of the fights, maybe ramp up the movement speed of the enemies so they start slow then get faster over time to make it more of a challenge. Just my thoughts :D

Dive & Dig by andrewkennedy 2021-05-02T05:38:50Z

I liked the concept a lot. However, I thought the tutorial wasn't necessarily too long, just had to click too many times to read through it. Maybe combine some of the text boxes into one window so there's 2-3 sentences instead of some of the ones with a single sentence. Graphics are very pretty, and I wish the miner would actually catch on fire instead of just the "You caught on fire" popup message

Where's my dynoMITE? [LD48] by miej 2021-05-02T05:27:45Z

This was extremely fun, especially for a first attempt at a game jam. The sound effects were amazing and had me laughing the whole time :) Great job!

Mindmess by Triton 2021-05-02T07:07:31Z

Cute pixel art, decent music, pretty solid controls, although I do agree with some of the other reviews I've read that some of the jumps are super hard to land. Otherwise, great job!

Trash`n`Roll by WhiteCubeGames 2021-05-06T02:57:48Z

Pretty fun little game. I am kinda fond of clicker, time management games like this one (I had a resource management clicker game as my entry for LD46)

I like the concept, and I think saw at least 3 different endings where there was too much litter, too much pollution, and at least one more. Don't want to spoil them all for the others :)

Down Down Well by OldDog 2021-05-03T14:22:09Z

I could just say: "not good ,not bad " like you gave me, but I think I'll give some actual commentary instead. :smile_cat:

The good: - Graphics are really well done. Although most of the platforms look like they're pretty simple geometry, there is some variety and it's not just the same cube 800,000 times as you play. The characters are adorable as well. - Sound effects and music fit the atmosphere/mood of the game really well, although I did find the end of the music piece to be a bit abrupt. Also not sure why web mode mutes audio by default, but I saw that in an earlier comment, so I assume it was just a Unity thing.

The not as good: - Controls seemed a bit clunky for me (although I was trying to play both characters myself, not sure if this is supposed to be 2 players or nah?) Sometimes even if I pressed "jump" for both sides at exactly the same moment, only one would jump and the other would just stand there. It seems like there is also a cooldown on how fast you can jump, but this isn't indicated anywhere, which could possibly be helpful as well. - The game mechanic of being tied together is cute, but I've seen it quite a few other times now (Red Rope, Rite of Ilk, Fling to the Finish, and some others) Still, your rope mechanics seem to work pretty well, giving a bit of freedom to not be forced 100% in the same direction, and even offering some springiness to the rope between the characters. However, I still at times noticed some weird physics glitches happening where (without pressing the "hold" button, one of the characters would get stuck on a floor/ceiling or on occasion just float a bit next to the other one, like standing on each others' head, except there was a gap between them so they're just floating mid-air until someone moves). Again, probably just a quirk of Unity's physics, because I could do the exact same controls and it only happened like, 5% of the time

Overall: - This is a pretty solid entry and I enjoyed playing it. With a bit more polish, I could see this turning into a pretty fun game, although I think if it's marketed as 2 player it could be way more entertaining when one player tries to go one way and the other wants to go a completely different direction. A really solid entry and a fun little game!

Space Cave by Timo Gass 2021-05-02T20:20:10Z

I thought this was a really good entry. I like the feel of the ship handling, even though it's a bit "floaty" it feels right for what I assume would be some type of hovering space ship. I do wish the fire rate was a bit faster on the guns, though, but it adds to the challenge. I only made it to around 144m because I kept dying, but I attempted about 15 times before I gave up :) Great job!

CHROMAHOLIC by Secret Magic 404 2021-05-03T05:11:55Z

I agree with essentially everything Cameron Paxton said above me. Game looks amazing, had NO idea what I was supposed to be doing. Even after reading some comments, it seemed like no matter what I was doing, I'd eventually just fall through the floor and hear what I assume is the "death" noise, then get sent back to the start after a kinda long respawn time. Still, it's very beautiful, just not so sure what the heck I'm trying to do lol

Beepo's Shop by itsBoats 2021-05-03T05:04:50Z

I really like the chill music, helped to add a fun atmosphere to the game. Didn't feel like I was rushing to accomplish anything, just like, I'll get my ship upgraded when I get around to it :)

I also really like the art style and the subtle things like the shop keeper's head bob animation. Yeah, I saw your post about some of the little tweaks and tips you had and that's what brought me here in the first place lol

Lots of fun, and I could see this turning into a fun game with a bit more polish and balancing.

LD49 — Unstable

Corruption TD by Mysticaldev 2021-10-21T05:55:51Z

Fun little game, although like some others have suggested, maybe a way to upgrade towers or remove one and replace it with something more expensive later on.

Good entry!

Meltdown: The Complete Guide to Reactor Maintenance. by triggthediscovery 2021-10-09T00:29:12Z

The music was pretty good, and I liked the graphics. That being said, there were quite a few typos in the manual (not sure if this was intentional for the atmosphere or not), and the gameplay was pretty difficult. Even after watching the demo video, I was still pretty confused on where to place components to prevent various things from just blowing up the reactor. Still, this was a pretty fun little game to play.

Electro-Twixt by RubixNoob13 2021-10-10T13:25:40Z

To follow up on some of your comments: @andresbochi @chillertyp Yeah, I wanted the map to be big, but then it felt like you were moving way too slow unless I made the movement speed be super fast, so I ended up with Sanic lol @triggthediscovery That's a good idea, and it wouldn't be hard to implement "if battery full then don't pick up battery", thanks for the suggestion! @exmxpx But, they're G H O S T S, why would they collide with houses? If I had a bit more time I'd have probably added in some steering behavior to make them move away from each other and not stack up, will definitely keep that in mind @ditam When you search for the nearest haunted house, as long as you have at least 1 pip of battery left, you should literally see a line pointing from your character towards the closest house which has a rift that still needs to be closed (provided there's any rifts left, shown at the top of the screen)

Thanks for everyone else who has played and rated our entry so far!

The Walls Are Tumbling Down! by zubspace 2021-10-08T23:44:22Z

I am all about procedural generation, and I've tried to implement it myself in several entries to LDJam. Nice level design, cute graphics. My only suggestions to add to this would be some music and maybe vary the pitch of the sound effects so every single bip doesn't sound exactly the same as you pick up items. Since I also use Godot, I can tell you how this works pretty easily  On my player node, I have an AudioPlayer2D named "Shoot", then before playing the sound, I just use this line of GDScript: $Shoot.pitch_scale = rand_range(.8, 1.2) That way, it randomly changes the pitch up or down a little bit (since 1.0 is play it at its normal pitch) So, now every time you shoot, it sounds a little bit different, instead of the same exact noise. It's subtle, but I personally think it can add quite a bit. I did really enjoy your entry, however! Great job!

Pale Moon Shone by ditam 2021-10-10T13:37:54Z

As per quite a few other comments, I initially thought that after the first shooting scene I hit a game over, but then realized it was just a quote. Otherwise, pretty solid entry, although it was more "visual novel-y" than most of the games I tend to play. Although it was a pretty enjoyable experience, nonetheless.

DUNGEON ECONOMY by bamberga 2021-10-10T13:12:47Z

Took me a moment to realize that I also had to balance the items to steer, and that there was fire to dodge. But once I got that sorted, this was a fun little game. Not sure if you were supposed to be able to rearrange the items in the shop to sell more items to the same merchant, but it's still a neat concept for a game. Good job!

Grabanakki by Saturnyoshi 2021-10-08T23:51:06Z

Nice atmosphere, cute graphics and good music track. I thought it was actually pretty difficult, although I was playing with keyboard and mouse instead of a controller, which may have helped? Still, this is a really solid entry!

MANIC MELTDOWN! by David Bohan 2021-10-06T19:57:48Z

The death screens reminded me a LOT of days spent playing PaperBoy many years ago, love it! The graphics were nice and the gameplay was very manic as promised. I did manage to win, eventually, but I kept getting a loop where the smoke room was unstable, I'd go to fix it, then the electricity went out and stopped the moving platforms before I was able to get all the way to the problem in the smoke room, so I kept having to run back to flip the electricity switch. But I guess that's actually the point is that it's a very hectic 3 minutes? :) Overall, good entry and the artwork and music were pretty awesome!

Snowbody's Mountain by WeAreDev 2021-10-09T04:49:45Z

This was a really fun game, and once I got the hang of how to move and NOT immediately drop my head on the ground, it was a lot of fun. I also think the music fit really well how it kinda built on itself and seemed to get more "tense" as you progressed through the level. Honestly, the only real suggestions I have for improvement would be to have a couple parallax layers for the snow so some of it looks like it's farther off into the distance, maybe make the snowflakes rotate a bit as they fall down, and if you could make the shadow on the head move around like the light is coming from a specific part of the screen instead of spinning with the head. And these are all REALLY MINOR things in my opinion lol. Your entry has gotten one of the highest ratings I've given this whole jam. Great job!

Deathrail by Hotowlgirls 2021-10-06T20:14:08Z

Not going to lie, I initially looked at this and was like "Oh, wow, this will be super easy." "W R O N G" Having to try to keep your balance and remember to jump between rails AND remember that vertical jump is "W" and not "Space Bar" like my brain kept trying to use as a jump button for some reason was more difficult than I anticipated. Cute pixel graphics, great music track, ACTUAL skill required? Awesome entry :)

Falling Tower by Simpathey 2021-10-06T20:05:58Z

The music was very relaxing for such a hectic game, I love the contrast there. I think my best time before the tower collapsed was around 3 seconds, so clearly I'm going to be fired from the wizard construction team fairly soon lol. I liked the subtle wind effects, they really add to the atmosphere. I could totally see this concept being expanded to a series of levels, even. Great entry!

CATACLYSM by his-games 2021-10-10T13:18:40Z

The jumping felt very floaty for me, and I got stuck on multiple walls. Sometimes I could walk off the platform and avoid a spike, then (after dying and resetting in the same room) if I just walked off the same ledge, I would get hit by the spike and die which I was able to walk over previously. But if I jumped, I'd float into a different spike and also die. Also, having some indicator where the rocks would fall from would be nice, other than just "Oh, you hit a spike and died. Also, a rock immediately fell on your head, so you died. Again."

The graphics were kinda cute, and the music was nice.

Crazy Cauldron by Quite Good 2021-10-08T23:56:01Z

Very solid entry! Cute graphics, great music, overall amazing atmosphere! Great job!

How high How many by ache games 2021-10-10T20:42:34Z

Like a few other commenters, it took me a minute to realize I had a cursor pointing to the object I was going to pick up, but after that, it was a pretty fun physics game. Good job!

Wobbly Penguins by bqq 2021-10-09T00:07:34Z

This was... an... interesting game... :) Graphics and sound were well executed. Nice job!

Ines Table's Unstable Potion Factory by FuzzDistor 2021-10-09T00:14:12Z

Cute game, and once I got the hang of how to change the colors to the correct ones, it was pretty fun. Would have liked to see the speed at which the potions come out get faster the longer you play, to make it even more unstable. Still, fun game, good entry!

Unstable Spore by Shuimen 2021-10-21T06:05:20Z

I never seemed to get any more cards as I was playing, so I'm not really sure what I was doing. The music was pretty catchy, but kinda repetitive.

Egg Racer by Exmxpx 2021-10-10T13:04:44Z

The concept is cute. However, when turning around, drop egg, instantly lose. Touch large floating egg which I assume was a checkpoint, nothing happens except frying pan changes color. Then frying pan touches ground on 1 pixel of edge of hill, egg breaks, instantly lose. This is very much a rage game, which I do not enjoy. However, the quotes when you die were kinda cute.

Luna's Painful Pastel Promenade by GuessImLuna 2021-10-09T00:46:43Z

This game makes me want to break things. Simple but effective art style. I gave up shortly after the introduction of the green blocks as well because I have to go cook dinner now and I can't wait 18 hours until I finally beat your game. Good job xD

Ex-spelled by afells 2021-10-10T12:57:35Z

I enjoyed most of the music, and the artwork was nice. That being said, the artwork was a bit inconsistent with the pixel sizing between the main character and the tile map, as well as the hand-drawn background. As some others have pointed out, the meteors and snow in later levels could have had any warning, or when I died from falling out of the map and went back to a checkpoint, I don't feel as though I should have to wait AGAIN for meteors to fall. Maybe remove the trigger that causes them to fall once the player makes it to the checkpoint. Yes, after a while it feels stale and I don't know how many levels there are, because I stopped about 10-12 levels in, after the 3rd or 4th level in a row where I hit the book and immediately fell off the 4 tile wide starting platform from the next level, since I was still moving forward from hitting the book in the previous level.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Thermal Runaway by TeamMonumental 2022-04-10T04:39:56Z

Graphics, audio, and mood are all on point! I agree with a lot of the others that a map would be nice, I got lost like, a lot. :) Other than that, this entry was really awesome and I think you did an amazing job!

Back2Work by radmccool 2022-04-10T05:38:11Z

So, I own a Valve Index. First off, launching this game makes my SteamVR launch, and from a quick Google search, it seems like there is a plugin somewhere in the UE editor that you should disable unless you're specifically targeting SteamVR, otherwise it will launch as though it's a VR title.

Other than this, the game was pretty fun. I played through a few times, but wasn't ever able to escape (maybe because I'm using keyboard and mouse instead of an analog stick, so my aim isn't as precise as it could have been?)

Still, this was a really gun little game! Great job!

Delayed Gratification by jessekaz 2022-04-11T20:16:23Z

I agree that the game could have used some sound effects or music. Otherwise, fun little game!

Natural Resources by gamescodedogs 2022-04-11T19:57:37Z

Fun little game. I managed to lose around 8 times before I gave up. I got pretty close to the airship at least once, but I managed to somehow use all the iron(?) before I could build it lol

Brickroll by adrianafitz 2022-04-08T23:47:10Z

As someone who spent WAY TOO MANY hours back in the day playing DX-Ball back in the day, this game was a lot of fun! I really like how you basically flipped Breakout on its head and instead of blowing up the bricks, the player is now trying to build them before the ball can destroy them. Very neat concept, amazing visuals and sound, I could sit and play this game for hours. Honestly, my only complaint after several plays of the game is that once you DO hit game over, the animation of the bricks filling up the screen takes a few seconds and I want to get back to playing like right now  Great job!

Grounded! by ajpl 2022-04-08T23:32:03Z

Pretty good entry! I do have a couple suggestions based on my play through. The timer is kind of hard to see because the text is white and most of the background is white / very light color. Maybe change the timer color to be more visible to help players see it. Also, I really like that you have arrows to point towards the issues that need to be fixed, but I wish the arrows were a bit bigger. Last, some music or sound effect can really help your entry to shine. Still, this was a pretty fun little game and a cool story concept, especially for a first submission!

MoonDoggle by realryanrogers 2022-04-10T00:06:25Z

I was spamming the mouse button so fast at the end that I didn't even see how many bugs I killed, because I was still trying to kill them all to the bitter end.

I agree with others saying that we should just be able to hold the button down to fire, because currently my mouse is mad at you lol

Other than that, it was a fun little game!

CVC Presents: The tale of Plague Doctor Man (John Withah) by David Mason 2022-04-08T22:47:56Z

First of all, I like that you threw a random silly easter egg into the description about "Click" Next up, not sure if it's intentional, but "Game Over" screen also has "Sample Text" on it. I feel as though the timers counted down quite fast and I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing, other than trying to stay alive by trying to keep my meters full. Might help if when you have an option to buy food, water, health, etc. if you could still see what your current amounts are of each of those things to make it easier, instead of having to try to remember them all. Still, good music and atmosphere, solid entry.

BANKRUPTCY by Mooptychunk 2022-04-08T23:12:44Z

First off, it may sound like a nitpick, but the download is a zip file inside a zip file, so I had to unzip the game before I could unzip the game. However, I did have quite a bit of fun playing the game, I did think the music was a bit TOO loud, so I had to turn that down. Otherwise, the pace was fast enough to make it feel as though you really are just trying to delay the inevitable. Good entry!

teleBOTation by Phoenix Fireflower 2022-04-09T00:14:32Z

@phoenix-fireflower I really hope you read this, because I also use Godot engine and I can help you fix at least one thing I've seen others mention. For my review, this game is amazing, I love the little character, and the first time I managed to get myself killed I was a little sad because he's so cute!

As for bugfixes, the sound thing is really simple, and here's a (long-ish) explanation as to why it was "broken" in the first place. The audio only plays out of the left side. I looked at the source code, in your Bgm.tscn file, you have an AudioStreamPlayer2D node, which defaults to have a position of 0,0 (top left of the game). So, the audio plays from that "direction", which in 2D is the left side of the game itself, so people will hear it out of only the left speaker or side of headphones. So, if you move the node to the middle of your screen, then it SHOULD play out of both sides as intended. The same with any sound effects you use, they are directional, so if you WANT something to play out of the left or right side only, you can. Otherwise, if you move them to the middle, they play in both sides. To be honest, I only figured this out in Ludum Dare 48 when I had the same issue with my music only playing on the left.

The only other things I noticed were that if you spam jump REALLY fast, you can manage to get a TRIPLE jump (pretty sure it has something to do with your coyote time, but I didn't look into it too far)

A small typo, on the game over screen, you have an "F" in "Fenerators" instead of "Generators"

With all that being said, I really enjoyed this game and I would love to see a post jam version of this!

Oh No My Trophy by zimny11 2022-04-16T05:33:37Z

Fun little game! Always good to see more Godot games on these jams as well :) I also *think* I might have gotten a new high score of 684 based on what I see in the game description at least.

The Pit by Itskdog 2022-04-10T05:18:01Z

Great job!

THEMARUNGA by Trexxak 2022-04-08T20:11:34Z

I enjoyed the voice acting a lot. I've played through a couple times now, and I'm still not 100% sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I tried hitting the balls, then using the arrows to collect powerups by moving the jumper. I don't know if I won or not, but it was pretty fun. Good job!

Cosmic Castaway by Perrin 2022-04-08T21:05:56Z

It's a shame I can't rate this game, because I had a lot of fun. I spent time googling things that I apparently didn't even need to look up before I ultimately figured out what the heck I was doing. Since I'm an old school gamer, I remember a lot of the old point and click try to solve the puzzle with no idea what you're supposed to be doing games, and this one was pretty awesome! Great job!

Mutating Escapist by Noirox 2022-04-11T19:44:21Z

I liked the voiceover. I would have liked it if the mutations stayed, so that one life you get double jump, then the ability to crouch, but you can also still double jump. That way, the puzzles could build on one another.

Still, it was a very fun game and I got some "Will you snail?" vibes from the evil A.I. Great job!

On Thin Ice by Nikl 2022-04-10T05:43:29Z

I agree that some music would be nice. I don't fully understand why the cows are needed.

The Hero (...Always Wins) by Link270 2022-04-19T07:12:15Z

Pretty fun little game, however I think my high score was only 3 heroes killed, so either I'm just bad, or the difficulty curve is pretty wicked. Still, played it multiple times, so there's probably something here :)

Morpheus of Mars by AnneArkey 2022-04-08T22:57:59Z

@trexxak Thanks for the review! I actually had plans to add turrets which would shoot at the enemies, but it took me way longer than I expected to get the pathfinding even close to correct, and then I had a few real life duties to attend to, so they had to be cut for time. Since it was supposed to be a research facility in the game's story, I didn't want to have TOO many militarized units. Basically, give the player the ability to build something to slow down the horde of enemies, but not stop them completely

Morpheus of Mars by AnneArkey 2022-04-11T19:37:24Z

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback. Here are some replies / updates to everything that's been commented on so far:

- @travis-bittel @teammonumental Turrets were a feature planned so you could build them and they would attack enemies. The sprites were actually in a folder in the final build, but unfortunately I ran out of time before I could get them implemented and had to submit

- @nikl The Y + A/D sequence was supposed to be you as the player starting up a manual power generator which was to be assisted by 2 bots, "Dyna" and "Mo", as in a "dynamo", which is a type of generator to make electricity. I was also planning to implement then occasionally breaking down, so you would have to "fix" them by spamming their respective buttons of A or D while playing the game. When the power is out, the oxygen would no longer refill, and possibly the turrets would stop firing / drones stop working, as the idea of the drone limit (which I never fully explained in the game) was that the computers inside the base were only strong enough to power a small number of drones, which is why you can only have 5 drones built

- @noirox @codebug I did intend to have the minerals, dome and comms dishes to have a status that will appear when you mouse over them to indicate which actions can be performed there.

- @imaginary In the story that we had about half way fleshed out, in addition to the enemies, there was also going to be radiation clouds which would also damage the dome. So it is INEVITABLE that the dome will collapse. However, to give you a chance at survival, once you repair the comms, you start to send a distress signal. Due to the real world times involved in sending a signal from Earth to Mars and back, we decided it should take some time for the signal to be sent, and when the comms progress bar (top right) is full, it changes to a "Rescue" timer. When THAT bar fills, if you haven't been killed by the enemies and you still have oxygen, you get rescued and win the game. The idea as to WHY this causes enemies to start spawning is that the signal woke them up and they're angry, so they attack you. Was also planning to have them attack the closest of either the antenna or the dome when they spawn, but I didn't get everything implemented as you already know. Fun fact: "Morpheus" was a god of sleep and dreams, which is where the name of the game comes from. The story premise is basically that your signal "wakes up" more sleeping enemies while you're trying to call for help

- @jessekaz I should really include more text in the display to indicate that there are resource costs for repairing. If I remember correctly, the dome takes 25 minerals per 1 HP of repair (it has 100 total health I believe). The comms have 10 health, but I think each point of health takes 250 minerals to repair, so it takes a total of 2,500 minerals per comms dish. However, the dishes DO remember how many minerals were put into them, so they will take a partial repair, then eventually be fully repaired once you've chucked enough minerals into them.

Morpheus of Mars by AnneArkey 2022-04-19T07:36:05Z

Thanks again to everyone for all the feedback! I've been working on getting a post-jam version together to basically just "finish" all the things I had wanted to implement for the Jam. To have the pathfinding actually work how I intended, I've had to do a few things to try to get it to run even close to the correct speed, as GDScript gets pretty slow when you start running into a couple of loops. But I'm working on it lol. - @link270 I know it's not super obvious, but once you fix ANY of the 3 comms, you start sending a signal (there's a progress bar on the right. The more you fix, the faster that bar fills. However, once it fills, you still have to survive until the rescue arrives (Same area, the progress bar changes from "Comms" to "Rescue"). I meant to include some popups or something to explain what was going on but again, time constraints lol. I always tend to plan about 10x bigger than what I can realistically accomplish in 3 days, but I still had a ton of fun with this jam!

You shall not pass by Senso 2022-04-10T05:12:29Z

Pretty cute puzzle game. I did manage to get stuck around level 11, and there wasn't an option to restart the level. So I refreshed the page, and alas, it had me restart at level 1. This would be a nice feature to add a restart button so this doesn't happen to other people.

On the positive side, the art style was cute and I liked it a lot. I also liked the "programmer sound effects" of the voices, and the nod to the Final Fantasy fanfare on some of the wins. Good job!

Workplace Accidents by tendencydriven 2022-04-08T22:55:09Z

This game was really well done! I really appreciate that since the play area is pretty large, there's an arrow to the closest thing I need to fix. Once you start getting a lot of workers, I have no idea how I'd keep up with them otherwise. Really, the only thing I have to add has already been said, that a WebGL build does tend to get more plays and reviews than having to download (some people have slow internet, others are like me and just kinda lazy lol) Seriously, great job on this entry, though!

DisasterGuard by Jroo 2022-04-08T23:41:05Z

This was a pretty fun little game. I both loved and hated that I needed coffee to move at a faster speed. Loved it because it's a good idea, hated it because I kept having to go back for more coffee, then fix the coffee maker, then getting jumped by like 14 aliens while trying to have a cup of coffee. While also everything else in the world was exploding. Great job! :)

Delayed Destruction by Imaginary 2022-04-11T20:03:12Z

I agree that the player moves too fast and once I let go of the movement button I'd expect him to STOP moving, but otherwise it was a fun little game!

Impending chemical catastrophe by codebug 2022-04-11T20:08:37Z

Nice job! I think this was the first P5.js game I've personally seen on Ludum Dare. I agree with some of the other people who played and left comments that it makes more sense to me to move the dropper rather than the tray at the bottom, but other than this, it was a fun little puzzle game!

LD53 — Delivery

The Kings Scam by JCMonkey 2023-05-08T06:20:45Z

Pretty fun overall, but I noticed that no matter where I seemed to hit the suitors, it always seemed to take 3 shots to kill them, but I'm not sure how my accuracy was being judged? Arrows per kill? Shots that hit the target? Something else I missed?

Also the bird chirping was the loudest sound I've heard today lol.

Nice, simple 3D graphics but I could easily tell what everything was / what I was supposed to be doing. Great job!

Unreasonably Fast Food by Skyeward 2023-05-18T04:44:51Z

From what you had, looks like a really solid start. I also really liked the toon shader you used for the graphics. That being said, I couldn't figure out how to do anything in the kitchen, and I kept flipping over when I tried to drive lol.

The Courier of Cobblecove by SleepyStudios 2023-05-18T00:09:36Z

Cute pixel art, good sound and music, fun game loop. My only complaint is that I kept getting stuck on rocks when clicking for the player to walk to a specific area, some pathfinding might have helped with that. Otherwise, amazing job!

Idle Deliveries by justking144 2023-05-18T04:59:07Z

This was a mood, not gonna lie! I wasn't super impressed with the upgrades til I got an employee to about level 20, then I was like "Oh, he NYOOM!" and I started to enjoy it a lot more!

Honestly my only real suggestion is to make it so that your "Cash on hand" is available all the time, so when you look at the employees to try to upgrade, you know whether or not you can afford it. :)

Great work, fun game, and honestly it's still going on my second monitor

Delivery DRONE by kasperhangard 2023-05-09T18:43:16Z

Cute robot/drone/droid? I noticed that the Ludum Dare page called it delivery DRONE, but on the link it's DROID? Music was catchy, but the loop was a bit too short in my opinion, which made it get repetitive rather quickly. Still, fun to drive around and deliver packages, cute game overall. You also commented on my entry about a minimap, I see your game has one, and I'm pretty sure when the rescue drone came to pick me up, I could see one of the blue rings that shows the warehouses on the map, so I have some ideas on how it works lol Great entry!

Witch Night Delivery Service by rhewid 2023-05-09T20:16:37Z

This was a really fun entry! I liked the cute pixel art, and the music went well with the game. I like that you were timed, but it almost seemed like I had too much time available to deliver everything (I think I had 3+ minutes left for the final quest). Still, fun concept, would like to see it expanded on in the future, could be a big hit!

Uber-Heck by RubixNoob13 2023-05-08T02:15:44Z

First of all, sorry it's taken me so long to get around to responding, I've been busy with some real life things as well as working on my post-jam updated version of Uber-Heck, based in part on the suggestions from here. If it wasn't obvious, some of the inspiration for this entry came from Crazy Taxi. :)

@wadlo - I also really enjoyed the orange color palette. I debated on using a stylized font with a fire shader on it for the UI elements, but in the end Annie and I decided to go for readability on the HUD so you didn't have to try to strain your eyes to read orange/red on top of orange/red.

@shannonhg - I agree, the physics were really fighting with me on this one, but this is also my first foray into 3D games. I may have accidentally scaled one or more of the collision boxes and apparently the physics engine doesn't handle that very well, but I could never seem to track down what the heck was causing it. Another example when I was playing around before making the level was that I was able to easily make a ramp at a 45 degree angle and drive up it / jump off. However, if you get too close to the edge of the island, no matter WHAT I did, the car just slides into the lava, despite me tweaking acceleration values and wheel friction variables to try to make you have more grip on the road. So I eventually stopped trying to figure that out and just went with getting something that was mostly playable that also included a win/loss condition. In the post-jam version I've also doubled the physics fps from 60->120, which apparently helps with deciding whether or not a collision happened (sometimes) lol. I'm still very new to 3D so I'll keep plugging away at it!

@jcmonkey - Thanks for the tip! I was using godot 3.5 and as I said above, first time in 3D. I noticed it happening as well, wasn't sure what to do to fix it. Apparently, the fog in 3.5 is kinda "meh" when it comes to blending things into the procedural skies (which is what I used for my sky), but I have been playing around with some stuff for the post-jam release, and since everything is rather low poly, if I double my far clip plane from 500->1000, everything seems to look a lot neater (for reference I think it's only about 1300 units from one side of the shop island to the far side of dest island, and with some of the rocks in the way, I haven't seen any other buildings being eaten on my end. I've also been working on possibly making the fog more opaque in addition to having the buildings start to become more transparent closer to the far clip plane, but I haven't really liked the results I've gotten just yet. However, based on your feedback, again just doubling the far clip plane looks like 1000x better in my opinion, so thanks for that feedback! I know it's not an option in EVERY scenario to do that (like if I had high-rez textures/models I'm sure it would make performance pretty terrible, but I'm getting decent FPS even now)

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions, and I look forward to playing each of your entries as soon as I can :)

Uber-Heck by RubixNoob13 2023-05-09T22:52:23Z

@freddie The delivery missions should activate on a timer, if I remember correctly it's like a random range from 3-15 seconds, then your phone will vibrate (very noticeable animation) Then you press space bar to raise it up and look at it, then Q to accept or E to decline that job. Once the phone is back to idle, you should get another job again in like 3-15 seconds. Sorry it wasn't working for you, this is the first time anyone's mentioned that the delivery missions didn't work for them.

Night Rider by The1 2023-05-18T00:17:51Z

This game reminds me of the O.G. Grand Theft Auto for PS1, it had a similar top-down chase camera. I also used to play a lot of Crazy Taxi (which inspired my entry for this Jam, btw), so I definitely played this for much longer than a lot of the other entries I've played thus far lol.

Cute pixel art, solid controls, good sound. Amazing job!

Storky McStorkface Express by Flying Dog Fish 2023-05-13T03:05:14Z

You managed to perfectly capture the rage-inducing gameplay of Flappy Bird, and I both loved and hated it lol

Graphics were cute, sound was pretty on point as well. My only suggestion would be that sometimes when I finished a level, it seemed to take a while to load the next one. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to hit a button, or if it was loading in the background, or what. Maybe some on screen indication (either "press this button" or hey wait a second might be helpful) :)

Great entry!

Courier Craze by Sprotex 2023-05-09T20:06:13Z

Graphics were simple, but I understood what was going on. I appreciate the silly voices for the random NPCs "blarhlrghl bleh blargh bleh!", made me smile. I wasn't really sure what ended my games. I normally got either 3 or 4 boxes delivered. Not sure if there was a timer I missed or something, but I think a few others have said it could use a bit more polish. Still, pretty good entry for a compo especially!

Interstellar Hauler by WobbleBlocks 2023-05-18T00:01:25Z

Pretty fun little game. At one point I stepped out of the ship onto a corpse and then I also died, which was a bit silly, but the rules DID say that your clone body was super weak, so it lines up with the instructions.

Pretty good entry overall, as some others said I would have liked a bit more input on where I was going, but otherwise it was fine :)

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-08T02:31:54Z

What I liked: - Cute pixel art - Pretty catchy music, altho it did get a little repetitive after a bit :) - Once I realized that it took different amounts of money / time to build rails on different terrain, it made more sense (I initially thought it was lag)

What I didn't like: - I thought I was lagging for like 5-10 minutes before realizing that it was based on where I was building rails lol (that is probably just me being silly and nothing wrong with your game lol)

Great job and I really enjoyed playing it!

Demonic Delivery by ShannonHG 2023-05-08T06:13:24Z

I think I'm a bit biased since my game ALSO involved delivering things to demons, but yours was pretty cute. I agree, music or sounds would have been nice, but again I ran out of time to add those to mine as well. :)

I like the graphics, and the attention to detail, ie: the eyes moving to follow the crane arm was a nice little touch. Pretty solid entry, good work!

Pizza Delivery by Codexzier 2023-05-09T19:59:19Z

Cute pixel art and I really enjoyed the concept!

Some feedback: - Sometimes the green pizza background on the green island was very hard to see. - I also kept getting pizzas with a pink background but none of the islands ever seemed to want them.

I liked the music, but it was a bit harsh at times, not sure if those are square or saw waves, possibly just have the volume lower? Just something I noticed.

Great entry, solid little game!

catchaHook by TTU_HASAN 2023-05-09T07:34:05Z

Visuals were okay. I had trouble with the controls, sometimes it didn't want to release no matter how many times I clicked the mouse, other times the obstacles would spawn directly in front of me so no matter what I did, as soon as I released I would instantly lose. The level did seem a little short as some others mentioned. Not exactly sure what I was even delivering since the description just tells me how to run the game.

Last Stand Delivery by Sheng Mai 2023-05-18T04:36:54Z

Great work, cute pixel art, responsive controls, cutesy music. But also how DARE you make me use my brain to try to solve puzzles? J/k this was an amazing entry and one of my favorites so far!

GobEx by WeirdBitGames 2023-05-18T04:15:33Z

This game was freakin' adorable! Love the art style and the sound effects! I legitimately felt bad when I made the goblin sad (he got hit by too many parcels when I played lol)

This is one of the first entries I've played where I don't really have anything to mention that I would change or do different, it was a really solid entry. Good controls, sound, everything seemed responsive as it should. Great work!

PatMan by Freddie 2023-05-13T03:11:46Z

Cute game! I liked the sound effects for the car (my game I ran out of time and didn't manage to add any sounds, this is much better than mine lol)

Great entry!

PAPERCUT by moonsheep 2023-05-19T21:04:56Z

Pretty fun little game. I enjoyed the mechanics. My only couple suggestions might be to make the enemies respond a bit faster. I got seen a few times but never really got hit by them trying to shoot me. Also, I think I spent way too long looking for an easter egg at the "Thanks for playing" section :)

Great entry!@

Parcel Control by Vitaslayer 2023-05-18T00:27:26Z

Cute graphics, good sound design. The ticking clock was very subtle, but made for very stressful gameplay. I got a really strong "Papers, Please" vibe from this game, which I REALLY enjoyed!

My only complaint is that no matter how much I clicked on the PC, it seemed to not make the next parcel drop any faster. Would have liked to be able to check more packages instead of them dropping on a fixed timer, but that's just my opinion, and I know others may disagree :)

Great job!!!

Dungeon Delivery by squareronin 2023-05-09T18:33:35Z

Pretty solid entry for a first jam! Cute graphics, I have a soft spot for anything pixel art :)

Some feedback: - I noticed I'd get stuck on the walls and be unable to jump back up most of the time after going down a single time. - If I landed on a monster's head, sometimes the package was still destroyed even though it didn't touch the monster. Not sure if this was intentional or a bug. - There was no music until I got to the game over screen and pressed the "menu" button, THEN there was music for the second round. - Maybe an indicator showing where to take the package you're currently carrying would be a nice touch, as I often forgot where some of the merchants were.

Still, as some of the others said, the difficulty (other than getting stuck on things) felt pretty balanced. The enemies weren't too fast, but they weren't so slow you could just ignore them completely. The sound was also decent in my opinion (my Jam entry didn't even get sound at all due to running out of time lol) Great work and I look forward to seeing more entries from the two of you in future Ludum Dares!

LD55 — Summoning

Ritual of Ribbit by manabreak 2024-04-30T04:39:38Z

Cute game, I really enjoyed the music, and one of the reasons I came here to play it was because I saw your post asking if people might be interested in how you made the music.

I might be one of those people, as music is probably my weakest skill-set in the game dev space, at least currently

Nice graphics, had some summoning, however I did manage to die several times due to the slabs getting stuck when I was near the water as well. Maybe make them able to be pushed by the player so if I place them slightly off where they need to be I can push them out of the way? Just an idea.

Solid entry, good job!

Skelly-Tons by Jajo 2024-05-04T00:57:48Z

Cute game, I liked the graphics. I agree that I had to click too much at the start. Pretty solid entry overall!

Enforcement Bureau by wisstopher 2024-04-23T23:39:18Z

Since I have my headset volume up rather high, the loudness of the radio was jarring and I had to turn it down quite a bit right away.

However, the game was fun, I liked how there was a chance to upgrade and also a difficulty ramp, although as some others said it was maybe a bit fast. But also it's a game jam, and people NORMALLY don't play jam games for a super long time. In that regard, it seems about right.

I did enjoy the music, seems pretty chill overall. And I agree the ending was unexpected and pretty cool! Great job!

C.R.T. - Companion Recall Technology by AffinityChris 2024-04-22T07:19:12Z

I like the pixel art graphics.

I noticed something VERY important: Nowhere in your list of controls did you mention that shift makes you sprint, I just tried it out of habit from a lot of other games and noticed that I was faster. This might be why a lot of people were saying the movement was too hard, because they only attempted the moves you told them they could do with each companion!

I also noticed that the music just kind of stopped for me and then it was just awkwardly silent except for my jumping sounds.

I would definitely recommend updating the list of controls to be sure you include everything!

Summoner's Law by RubixNoob13 2024-04-22T07:46:25Z

@wmute Thanks! I wanted to do more with Godot's animation player, so I decided to try to make some cut scenes. I think they turned out pretty nice.

@drahmen Thanks for the feedback! We had a lot more we wanted to do, but didn't get to work on it for the full time due to real world obligations.

@kilthorne I didn't think about it at the time, but magical Judge Dredd is kinda the vibe isn't it? We were planning on having multiple investigations and battles with varying difficulties, with some equipment and/or spell upgrades. I was definitely thinking about a heal spell as well, but if I gave that to an enemy, I think it would have just made the fights drag out too long for a jam.

@laszlotimar  You should pay attention in class, there will be time to play LDJam games afterwards! As I said above, we had plans for several fights of varying difficulties, and the initial idea would be that once you brought the summoner to justice, whatever demon/monster they summoned would be sitting in the "jail" near the judge, slowly corrupting him, and then the big boss fight would be you versus the corrupted judge. But with like, 12 minutes left until the submission deadline, there wasn't anywhere near enough time to add in a few more fights and have the judge suddenly be a boss where it made any kind of sense, so we slapped the "Thanks for Playing!" on it and called it a jam game

Summoner's Law by RubixNoob13 2024-04-24T00:34:02Z

@goddoesplaydice Yeah, we've done quite a few jams and we're still working on finding the sweet spot of scoping what we can do in the time we have and also trying to have some type of story, instead of just like, generic platformer and/or pew pew game

@rossk We were trying to find a nice balance between scroll speeds. Initially it was about twice as fast, but I'm sure some people would have not been able to keep up. We could have also broken it into smaller bits, or (what I wanted to do but ultimately ran out of time) added a scroll speed option. But, since I hard coded the duration of the cut scenes, they wouldn't have fit properly with the variable text speed, unless I tinkered with adjusting the animation player speed as well. And again, I ran out of time to code all that  :timer: Also yes, I think the music goes hard as well. I spent like 10 minutes just sitting in the menu after we got the game submitted just to listen to the track

Jim Brimstone: Devil Advocate by AploveStudio 2024-04-17T11:05:35Z

I thought it was a rather fun little game! Sure, as some others have said, some answers were kind of cliché, but to me it felt like the people making the game KNEW they were being corny, and did it anyway. Kinda like when you see a movie and it's so bad that it wraps around again to being good, like Snakes on a Plane.

Artwork was awesome, I really dig the subtle palette as well as the other lawyer looking progressively more disheveled after dealing with your nonsense.

My only real complaint is the text boxes changing size with the text as it came onto the screen for the dialogue. I'm not sure what engine you used, but I'm sure there's probably a way to have a fixed size text box and just have the text appear inside of that, possibly with the use of substrings, for instance. Other than that, though, I thought it was a solid entry and it had me chuckle a few times. Great job!

Toad-O-Mental by WMute 2024-04-22T06:55:37Z

Really nice graphics. I was a little confused on what to do at first, but the walkthrough video helped quite a bit. Maybe (if you have time of course!) you could make a tutorial of sorts to help explain what to do at first.

I also liked the music! Good job!

Summon Get It! by Chrispy977 2024-04-23T23:19:27Z

Fun little game, cute graphics. I liked the music as well. However, I did notice at one point the game just stopped letting me swap between forms no matter how much I scrolled the mouse wheel. Is there a limit on the number of times you can swap that I didn't notice, perhaps?

Command: Summon by Gastar 2024-04-23T23:09:34Z

This was a cute little game! I managed to get 5/7 endings before looking at the spoilers.

Graphics were nice, sound was good, and I liked the music as well! Solid entry, great job!

Tower of Oz by Bastillas 2024-04-24T04:23:44Z

Amazingly cute pixel art, a good soundtrack, and rage-inducing gameplay. Pretty solid entry!

I wasn't even able to make it past the big pit in the second level. I know *WHAT* to do, I was just having trouble getting the li'l dude to cooperate to actually *DO* it

Great job!

Grishnek Legacy by D0vid 2024-04-18T05:12:22Z

Pretty fun game, I enjoyed the DDR / Guitar Hero type gameplay combined with drawing the glyphs. Pixel art was cute. A solid entry!

Soul Technician by Nathan Franck 2024-04-24T03:31:33Z

Neat concept. The artwork is cute. Even with using the dash, I haven't been able to get past the 3rd wave/stage.

Some sounds or music would have been nice.

Overall, pretty solid entry, would like to see a more polished version down the line, maybe with a slightly less steep difficulty curve

The Zummoning by RossK 2024-04-24T00:30:02Z

The entry here needs a lot of polish, but I appreciate you letting us know up front that it's very rough.

I submitted ratings based on this version, then I went ahead and played the redux version as well. The music, sound effects, and updated graphics added a LOT to it.

Even as it stands on the entry here, it was a rather fun little game!

Astro Heart by quasilyte 2024-05-04T00:59:24Z

Cute graphics, solid sound effects. I don't think I have the brainpower at the moment to make anything that actually does well in combat though  Great job!

Whatever by TikTak Gacha 2024-04-30T03:54:10Z

Cute little game, as others have said could see it going places with some more polish. A few ideas for some things you could try to add that probably aren't too difficult to implement:

- Animations for the pieces swapping - Only allow the user to swap pieces if they're touching (so can't swap top left and top right, have to swap to the middle first, for example) - Sound effect when user clicks on a piece - Keep track of number of moves - Some type of animation to let them know they have completed the puzzle / "You won!" screen

Good job for a first game and jam!

notepad game by CREEPERYEET666999 2024-04-24T03:18:01Z

I mean...

Ok so like, I don't even know what to say. You made (with the help from chatGPT from what it says anyway) a game. Without an engine. Or graphics. Or sound.

BUT it has gameplay. And a win/loss condition.

11/10 best game so far!

Book of the Ghosts by laszlotimar 2024-04-22T07:38:30Z

I was just chillin minding my own business, then like 487 ghosts rolled up and were like EEEYYAAARRRRGGGHHHHHRRRRLLLGGGHHHHBBBLLLKKKTHHHGGGPPTT!!!!!!!!!

I eventually found the book and won, but I didn't register what "the beam" was at first. Maybe some type of HUD marker to let people know what they're looking for. I kept trying to follow the bridges and ran in a circle about 10 times before I figured out where I was going.

As for repeating sounds, look into pitch shifting them randomly, it can help a lot in a jam to break up everything sounding exactly the same.

Pretty fun little game, has a lot of potential for improvements! Good job!

Duck Spawner by Myse 2024-04-22T07:56:33Z

My brain hearing the music: "Boop bip beep boop boop bip beep boop boop bop bip beep boop beep BOOP"

Me, seeing the button: *click click click click click*

So. Many. Ducks.

Great job! Love to see other Godot games! I managed to get my html export working on LDJam (was using Godot 3.5.2 stable) and followed the guide from LDJam where it said to search for the "in navigator" and replace that whole thing with "false" in (I think) it was 3 places in your index.js file. But it seems like you got it working, so that's awesome!

Echoes Evil Summoning by niltonfirmo 2024-04-24T00:09:47Z

Fun little game, although I don't see any options to rate it, either.

The sound effects were a bit loud, but otherwise nice job!

The seven crystals by Mibi88 2024-04-30T03:48:47Z

I agree that it was difficult to tell what was floor and what was a wall. Maybe make one or the other darker so the player can tell the difference.

Art style was pretty cute, I liked it!

Slaymore by Joshua Miller-Pio 2024-04-18T05:21:41Z

Art style was very cute.

As others have said, jump sound was kinda annoying. Maybe just a bit of pitch shifting so it's not exactly the same every time you jump would help.

The animations didn't work quite a lot, and bullets coming thru the walls from enemies was annoying.

I also noticed that when I got hit, the hearts seemed to come off the health bar at random instead of in a specific order. Not sure if that was intentional or a bug, but it was difficult at a glance to tell how much health I still had.

Also, having to Alt+F4 out of the title screen isn't the most fun.

Still, it was a pretty solid entry and good job!

War of the Necrocaster by TomisGreen 2024-04-22T07:11:34Z

I agree with a lot of the other comments here. The graphics are cute, although I was having a lot of issues with the enemy HP bar just disappearing off the screen, so I didn't really know how much HP he had left.

Music and sound effects were a bit repetitive.

The game was pretty easy, either spam small units, or upgrade a couple times and spam small ones. Or, upgrade your mana / mana regen, then spam bigger units.

Pretty good entry. A quit button would be nice so users don't have to Alt + F4 out of the game.

LD57 — Depths

Quantum Inferno Run by LeReveur 2025-04-24T05:27:27Z

So it was pretty fun overall. I think a cool idea might have been to have the 3 depths be different instead of just copies of one another, so maybe you HAVE to swap between them to be able to get to the end.

Music and sound effects, even just small bips and beeps when you jump, land, etc, can do wonders to add a bit of polish to your game. SFXR or BFXR are pretty good for this and they're free, just so you know

Still, played this longer than I probably should have given the amount of people who requested a rating from me lol, so good job!

Sound the Innersea by tukisboolukis 2025-04-24T11:36:33Z

I love pixel art games, especially liked the little wiggle the sub would do when you were changing directions while descending. Sound was nice. Controls were a bit odd, but so were the ones in my entry

Great job!

Downstairs by Sn4pi 2025-04-24T06:22:33Z

Ok, so I have mixed feelings about this one. First off, immediate SCP vibes, reminded me a bit of this one: https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-087

I also had exactly zero problems running it on Linux under Pop_OS 22.04 using Bottles, didn't even have to try the shaderless version because the normal one worked perfectly fine.

That's not bad at all, just an observation. Graphics and mood were amazing. I didn't really like the controls, felt like it was too much for aiming/shooting to need an aim button, then arrows to aim and then another key to fire, maybe mouse aim/shoot would be better. Creepy vibes were a M O O D (in a very good way)

The stupid bugs. OMG the bugs were the worst thing ever! Not anything wrong with the code, the literal flying insect thingies that kept slapping me lol

It did start to feel a little "same-y", almost like when you buy a Steam game that starts to feel like the dev wants you to play more than 2 hours so you can't refund it? But you did mix it up with the platforming vs having to fight different types of enemies, so it wasn't a terrible time.

Last complaint, though. WHAT kind of gun holds 5 bullets, at least from what appears to be like a SWAT unit or something sent in by emergency services to check out an anomaly in a basement? And how many magazines did you bring, because I reloaded like, a half million times easy. Where do you keep all that ammo?

Overall, great vibes, good mood, and a fun experience (I probably legit played it for over an hour before getting to the end) so great job!

Depths of Hell by mediocrity 2025-04-15T12:20:50Z

I have not played Vampire Survivors, but I've seen it played. This very much feels like "We Have Vampire Survivors at Home" but in a GOOD way. Upgrades felt meaningful, and I ended up playing this little game F A R longer than I probably should have just to give it a rating

I liked the graphics, the sound was good, although it was a little repetitive (pitch shifting your audio by +/- 10% or so can do wonders to help your sfx sound better). I don't know how to do this exactly in Unity, since I use Godot, but in Godot it's pretty simple:

$AudioStreamPlayer.pitch_scale = randf_range(0.9, 1.1)

Basically just setting the pitch to a random float from 0.9-1.1, and I do this every time before playing the sound, that way each time it plays it sounds just that little bit different.

Still, this game was a lot of fun and an amazing job. My only other "complaint" is that it would be better with some music!

Pretty Fish by MestreRothLD 2025-04-24T07:15:47Z

Decently fun, felt pretty well polished and balanced overall.

Would have liked to see my fish get much larger so I would know whether or not I could eat some of the bigger fish as I started to progress.

Audio and mood were really nice, great job!

The Cleaner of the depth by Egor Iv 2025-04-15T11:19:47Z

I love the art style, as well as the audio design with the teeth playing chimes.

The cleaning control felt a little clunky at times, maybe I was trying to press it too fast? Still, fun little game, great job!

Down Wheel by neowhoru 2025-04-24T04:50:26Z

Graphics are cute and I like the overall concept. My complaints are that some of the spikes felt like their hitboxes were much larger than others, as in there were some spots I kept dying even though I felt like I was definitely NOT touching spikes, and others where I thought I hit the spikes and I did not die.

Also, I managed to get stuck in the area where you leave the water, after dying I was spamming dash and apparently dashed over the top of the map or something, and physics just pushed me down outside the map (I assume, because the camera followed me down a bit then stopped)

Overall, still a pretty fun game. Volume settings would be nice to have, but I just turned down my headphones quite a bit since the sounds were a bit loud. Good job though :)

JetMine by Thomas Higgins 2025-04-14T10:48:38Z

After reading some of the comments, I'd suggest updating the game page to include more of the controls, because I didn't even know I could view my inventory without being at the shop.

I liked the jetpack speed, although sometimes it seemed like it was almost too fast. Still a lot of fun.

I wish you could maybe hover over the items you mined to see what they were before picking them up since you had limited inventory space, but otherwise it was still a pretty fun little game! Good job!

Mr. Money's Phenomenally Soggy Water Removal Romp by Rhoka 2025-04-14T10:23:26Z

- Downloaded Linux build as I run Linux. - Made the .sh file executable - ./MMPSWRR.sh: 5: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string - Line 2 of the .sh file: echo -ne '\033c\033]0;Mr. Money's Phenomenally Soggy Water Removal\a' Because your game name has an apostrophe in it, the echo statement is broken. You can change the quotes around the string to normal double quotes like "" and that should fix it.

Afterwards, I tried just allowing the .x86_64 file to run as a program and that let me at least play the game :)

I enjoyed this a lot. Cutesy programmer art with some jokes built in, fun gameplay loop, and upgrades that felt meaningful. Music was catchy as heck as well!

The main thing I didn't like was that I wasn't able to change out upgrades once I placed them, but that did make it fun to try to min/max which upgrade combinations would be better than others.

Great game and especially for a game jam! I'm impressed!

Fantascope Chasm by RubixNoob13 2025-04-12T03:50:06Z

@monogatari Yeah, we had plans for several more enemies, but we ran out of time due to a couple nasty bugs taking way longer to track down than they should have, but one of them made the game completely crash when you tried to go to the next level, so we prioritized fixing that and then ran out of time before implementing the other enemies. We actually had plans for 2 different spiders, one melee and one with a ranged attack, a snake, and a bat that I can remember. The bat sprite artist is even credited in the game page despite not making it into the final jam entry. As for MP reload speed, I was trying to balance it so it didn't feel too easy. Originally I thought about making a mana pick up like the hearts for health, but I didn't want it to just be based on RNG.

@floppynub I'm so glad you liked the game! I tried so hard with the bug fixes, because there were a lot of things that broke when panic started to set in near the end. Pro tip, if you're using Godot, figure out a better way to do things than calling stuff like "get_parent().get_parent().get_parent().add_child()" because, inevitably, you'll end up putting something where it doesn't belong and something will break. Like, for instance, spawning a heart inside the node that's the container for your spinning cave layers, and then when you try to move to the next layer, it reads past your array because instead of the expected number of cave layers, you have cave layers + hearts :3 I wanted something that felt more like a twin-stick shooter for the controls, but I agree they do take a bit of getting used to.

Fantascope Chasm by RubixNoob13 2025-04-14T11:14:16Z

@eeldam Glad you liked it! I don't want to spoil too much for anyone else who might read the comments, but you have a melee and a ranged attack, so if one of them doesn't seem to work, maybe try the other one?

@k48uto So far, it seems like people either love or hate the controls. I planned to add in options to let you use A/D to turn instead of mouse control but ran out of time. As for the enemy AI, obstacle avoidance was planned, probably using some raycasts to steer around obstacles, but I got sidetracked by some bugs that were making the game completely crash, and by the time those were squashed I was running out of time. I also realize that you can launch fireballs JUST a li'l bit farther than the aggro range of the enemies. I did consider trying to make them aggro if you did damage to them, but the enemy code was a spaghetti-coded mess at that point and I didn't want to risk breaking it again so close to the submission deadline. I may tinker with making the code less terrible just for more coding practice for myself and possibly add in all the things we wanted to add for the Jam, but no promises.

Fantascope Chasm by RubixNoob13 2025-04-17T16:03:23Z

@librory The HTML5 is embedded in the page here on Ludum Dare. Just click the play button on the big image at the top of the page. When you say the link doesn't work for Windows, do you mean it's not downloading, or you downloaded it but it doesn't work?

Update: I checked a few other games and any of them that had files hosted on the Ludum Dare site are saying the download isn't found, so I think the site may be having some issues.

Fantascope Chasm by RubixNoob13 2025-04-19T05:08:42Z

@librory Sorry for the late reply on this, but nah, you're not stupid. I think this is only the 2nd time I've done an upload to the LD page, maybe the 3rd? I don't think it's been a thing very long. And as far as I can see, the file downloads are still broken today.

Fantascope Chasm by RubixNoob13 2025-04-24T13:06:00Z

@aynu Don't think like that at all! You said this was literally your first game jam. I've been doing this for a while, and normally I only have 1 other person helping, but we used graphics and sounds from a lot of other sources, like 95% of what I do is the coding part. It's something you don't learn in a day, but you've already come really far in what, 1 month of pygame development? Don't give up, and don't sell yourself short!

Fantascope Chasm by RubixNoob13 2025-04-27T07:12:44Z

@aynu Sorry for late reply on this, was out and about doing some real life things.

For the graphics, we opted out of that category because they were basically all made by other people. Code being in one file isn't necessarily bad, depends on what exactly you're working on.

If you like python, I would recommend looking into Godot engine. It's what I use, and its scripting language, GDScript, is very close to python, so there's not a ton to "unlearn" if you've been working on python.

Dyamid by leorean 2025-04-24T05:07:42Z

I started off being impressed by the music.

Then, when the camera unlocked for the first time and it clicked.

Then, you got me with the "Look, a trampoline!" and I immediately died.

If I could give more than a 5, the audio would definitely deserve it. This was a blast, would love to see more levels for it in the future!

Dig Digger by Transkuja 2025-04-15T07:46:17Z

These high scores make me sad lol, I only got around 16k.

I actually logged out of my main Linux partition and went back over to Windows to try this one out because I couldn't get it to run well under a VM in Linux and I wanted to give it a fair shake.

Nice graphics, good music, fun little game! Great job!

Depths of Hell by GabrielGameDev 2025-04-24T11:42:13Z

This whole game was a mood. I liked the silly voiceovers, and when I got to "Fireball", I had already jumped into one before they were announced the first time around, which got me killed. So, do better silly voiceover man

Seriously, good job, this whole game is a vibe!

Upstream by Skvader_418 2025-04-24T08:24:34Z

So, I love the art style, and the screams were an amazing touch. I *THOUGHT* I was doing really well, then a boat with like 4 dudes on it showed up, and at the same time another like 4-5 jumped out of the trees onto my ship and basically everyone died. :skull_crossbones:

Really fun little game, may play it some more and try to get farther once I finish rating some others! Great work!

Submarine Waffles by Eugenik 2025-04-15T12:33:22Z

Graphics were nice. I felt like I was just spraying batter and chocolate all over the place instead of coming anywhere near actually making waffles, though

Fun little game, definitely a vibe.

Squirrel swirl by rucksack 2025-04-24T10:56:50Z

I absolutely loved the art style and music in this game. And I love Tower Defense games, so it was a lot of fun!

I just want to know why are those ducks so mad, though?

Great job!

Eurydive! by Jack Turpitt 2025-04-24T07:36:06Z

The sound effects were amazing, even though I'm pretty sure the whooshing noises were just mouth sounds

Art style reminds me of old-school flash games, which I'm pretty nostalgic for these days. Fun little game, felt pretty well balanced overall, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Great work!

Voyage au centre de la Terre by xpoho 2025-04-24T11:12:47Z

Cute game, I like the pokemon style battle and the music. Wish it was longer!

Good job!

Oh yeah, AXEEEL!!!!

Descent by MorePixels 2025-04-24T11:07:26Z

For some reason, the first few enemies I hit with an umbrella I'd still die, even though I was in the air.

After like 3 restarts, that stopped happening and the game played as expected, I ended up getting a high score of 45, so if the dev score really is 42, I win lol

Seriously, great job! I loved the artwork and the music. Kind of reminds me of Downwell but with an umbrella to slow you down.

Go to sleep... by eeldam 2025-04-14T11:03:19Z

I like the idea, although I kept getting a bunch of things like "no no no no" and I'm not really sure what to do with that. Not sure if others have this, but for the audio in the web build, I basically just had a deep rumble/buzzing sound. Wasn't sure if it was supposed to sound like that or if I was having sound issues.

Awesome interpretation of the theme, and a neat concept I haven't seen before. Good job!

River Woods by the3rdHunter 2025-04-24T06:47:23Z

I wasn't talented enough to even get a bronze, I kept exploding the boat lol

Cute pixel art, and I liked the humor (not sure if it was supposed to be funny, but things like 'Q 2 quit' made me chuckle)

I feel like this would be a fun game for 2 players where each one controlled one of the paddles to see if they could work together and navigate the river as well.

Good job, had fun, broke many boats heh

The Altermind Project by MatthewDrake 2025-04-24T11:28:46Z

A very unique take on the theme, and not like most things I've seen in Jams in the past. Great work!

Mafushi by Ron88 2025-04-24T10:21:20Z

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this game! My only complaint at all is that I had to wait for the harpoon / spear thing to move itself, I couldn't just aim. But that adds to the overall challenge, because if I could just point and click at the specific fish I needed, there wouldn't be much of a challenge.

Art was crazy good, even on the main menu I noticed several things on different layers as you'd expect. Sound settings a) EXIST (which is kinda rare in my Jam experience) and b) actually WORK, which is also a plus so my ears don't get blown off. Gameplay was fun and felt like it had a good balance between difficulty and stress of "oh no I missed that fish and I need one soon or that shark will eat me!"

AMAZING job to everyone involved, I am thoroughly impressed!

Flatline by Empyreans 2025-04-24T04:21:04Z

Pretty fun game, I liked the audio and feel like the music really suited the mood of the game. Some of the voice lines got a little repetitive (probably because I'm bad and kept dying) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Overall, fun little game, great job!

Sub-mersed by Aynu 2025-04-24T08:03:59Z

I *REALLY* hope you read all this. I know it's long but I want to be as helpful as I can

So far, things I noticed right off the bat: The download actually contains a zip file, in a zip file, IN a zip file. Which makes your download bigger, and I see other people saying it was flagged on itch.io

I downloaded directly from Ludum Dare and the zip file is 2.2 MB, the one on itch.io is only 566k, so it looks to be fixed on itch, just not on LD page, which still contains multiple nested zip files.

As others have said, distributing python games can be hit or miss unless you use something like PyInstaller, especially if the user doesn't have the right requirements or packages already installed on their system. I switched to Linux about six months ago, and it was pretty straightforward since python is already installed by default on most Linux distros, (but I know on Windows it can be a bit more of a pain to get things to play nice)

What I did to get it working: - Unzipped the download - cd into the directory - run 'python3 -m venv venv' to create a virtual environment - run 'source venv/bin/activate' to activate the virtual environment - run 'python3 main.py' and get an error of "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pygame'" since I don't have pygame installed and it's not a default part of python - run 'pip install pygame' which installs pygame to the virtual environment - run 'python3 main.py' again, and now the game runs.

This is a lot of steps for someone who is non-technical (or not a :nerd: like me), so I highly recommend following the advice of others on how to package your games going forward. That being said, I'm going to take a break in writing this to actually play your game now ^_^

Ok, ESPECIALLY for a first game, and ESPECIALLY for the COMPO instead of taking extra time to work on things for the JAM, I'm pretty impressed! That being said, I have a few things I want to say about overall game design stuff:

As others have pointed out, the small fish being part of the background isn't very clear. I noticed that your shots and (I think) the submarine also go behind the small fish. I am not a pygame dev, but I'm sure it has some type of z-ordering or z-index to determine what gets drawn in front vs. what's drawn in the background. That will help to let players know what to focus on shooting and what they can ignore.

I also noticed that if I was going left on the screen, the sub turns left, but if I shoot it still fires to the right, unless there was some other command I missed to change the direction you were shooting.

The music was a bit annoying, but again if it's something you threw together in a short amount of time, it's probably not going to be perfect. Some sound effects for shooting, killing enemies, and maybe some type of scoring system or goal for the player to work towards would also be really nice.

OVERALL, this was a really solid first entry, and I hope to see you participating in more events!!!

Asteronaut by Leykal 2025-04-16T04:06:04Z

Catchy music, graphics were decent. Pinball was a different approach, and the black hole made it far too short. Not sure how the theme really fit into this game, but was fun to play for a few til you get sucked into the black hole.

Lust4Life by hirqshi 2025-04-24T10:13:36Z

The graphics and music were pretty friggin' awesome!

I would have been happier if there wasn't a timer to worry about and I just got to keep digging instead of getting pulled back out every couple of minutes.

The only gripe I had is picking up items felt pretty finicky. I think the items themselves still had physics attached to them and were hitting things near me, like other rocks, etc, and then falling out of my hand. I'd expect having to walk to an item then interact with it I would now be holding it until I press the button to let it go, not just accidentally getting it knocked out of my hand. One rock I had to pick up like 6 times to move it about 3 feet to the crusher thingy because I kept dropping it.

Still, other than that, this was a really solid entry and I enjoyed it a lot.

Bonus points for using Godot AND making a Linux build so I didn't have to run it inside Bottles

Great work!

Lust4Life by hirqshi 2025-04-25T00:49:13Z

@hirqshi It happened with just about everything I mined and went to pick up. I am on Linux, so I was using the build from the "Lust4LifeLinux.zip" file, maybe it's something specific to that one instead of the Windows version?

Lust4Life by hirqshi 2025-04-25T03:46:36Z

@hirqshi Ok, so I've done some further testing for you: The Windows builds don't seem to have the issue I was having (I played them under Linux using Bottles to run Windows game on Linux)

When I run the Linux build, I still notice the same thing, except I don't think it's actually the physics, I think it's just very picky about whether or not I pressed the button to pick up the, what I'm gonna call "coal" piece. Like, if I am still moving AT ALL from walking towards it when I press the E key to pick it up, it only works correctly maybe 40% of the time, the rest of the time it starts to animate like I picked it up but then it falls back to the ground.

Maybe it's registering the input twice for some reason, like I pick it up then immediately drop it? Again, I'm on the same machine on the same OS as where I played both of the Windows versions and between Windows and Linux builds it feels very different on registering that I picked up an item. Hopefully this helps if you're looking to troubleshoot it further.

Also, the Windows Jam version didn't have any sound for me, but the post-jam version did, is that correct or was that a weird bug also?

A Well to Wonderland by Mathieu Chougui 2025-04-12T00:20:29Z

Really loved the hand-drawn art! Music was cool (I had to turn it down a bit tho because it was very loud, but still good!)

Took me a minute to figure out how to avoid the gate thingies, and I still was terrible at timing them correctly, so I died a lot. Still, solid entry, good work!

Echo Diver by cyndereN 2025-04-24T06:55:19Z

I like the minimalist aesthetic, and the echolocation is really cool (it reminds me of my LD48 entry Don't splat the Bat, where I came up with a similar mechanic)

I got killed a couple times, then like others just found an endless void where I sank for a few minutes straight before giving up. It has a lot of potential though, good job!

Ruby Hole by Aleksey4adoff 2025-04-19T04:15:29Z

I really liked the art style and how the tiles changed at the different depths. The music was good without being too loud/obnoxious like often happens in Jam games, it felt really nice. Overall vibe I really liked. My only issue was that, on my first play through, I didn't realize that I could scroll down after making it to the ruby hole, so I dumped a bunch of tiles trying to fit a few things together because I was running out of space. But that was just me being dumb, after that I figured it out and it was a blast.

Great job, solid entry, and I have fun playing it!

The fate of Carl by SagaDev 2025-04-14T11:26:33Z

M O O D.

Music slaps. Gameplay loop was simple but fun. I managed to make it to the "Thanks for Playing" screen around the 2k depth mark. Would have liked to be able to place more turrets / have the console placed so you can see the turrets mowing down enemies as some others have said. But overall, I really enjoyed this game and (especially) the music :)

I hope Carl's okay!

Cosmic Junker Simulator by Aizomon 2025-04-24T07:07:39Z

Graphics were pretty nice, although when you're using the gun to attract, it (to me at least) looks like the beam is going away from the gun. Might be nice to see if look like it's pulling towards the player instead.

As far as sound effects, I recognize a lot of those from the original Half Life game, but they fit pretty well with the space theme overall.

Pretty fun game, but I died quite a lot heh

Spirit Lock by Brian Russell 2025-04-11T23:38:26Z

This game was a vibe! Good music, sound effects. I really liked the transition between realms, I think you nailed it! You could still stand on platforms for a split second as they disappeared, instead of just falling off and being a rage game. I enjoyed it! Great job!

Game and Physics: Water Cat by MoD_Wiz 2025-04-26T00:40:42Z

Cute little game! Glad I saw your comment on mine with enough time to play yours and give it a rating! I really enjoyed it! Puzzles seemed pretty well thought out, nice difficulty curve. Cute pixel art, even had animation for when you were moving and jumping out of the water.

I'm nowhere near the top score, but I didn't have to restart, so that's got to count for something, right?

Great job!

Blurred Escape by pizzabudet420 2025-04-14T21:47:29Z

So, I figured out the code much sooner than I thought. But, in my picture below, I was trying to line up the numbers where the 999 is in my picture, thinking that was supposed to be the "front" of the lock based on the angle you're looking at it, when apparently you have to line up where the 000 is instead. Maybe just a small arrow on the lock or something to indicate where the numbers should line up would be super helpful. - Side note: I like when you're interacting with the lock it's completely off the wrist shackle, but you're still stuck in the chair  made me giggle.

Screenshot from 2025-04-14 16-41-35.png

I LOVE your interpretation of the theme, it's one of the most creative ones I've seen yet. The audio was good, but like a few others have said, I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on making all that racket. Once you escape from the lock, the controls seemed very slow, almost like trying to walk under water, while playing in the browser. Like instead of turning quickly, it's like the game was trying to smoothly change my look vector from where I was looking to where the mouse had moved. Maybe this was intended, but it just felt slow/sluggish to me. (Maybe to go along with your head hurting when you first woke up and to simulate being groggy?)

Overall, fun little entry and I'm mad it took me as long as it did to figure out where on the lock I was supposed to put the numbers once I figured them all out. Great entry!

Expert Gem Digger by JeanDevsito 2025-04-15T11:13:26Z

Pretty fun little game. Catchy music. Cute art style. I've not heard of this engine before, definitely gonna take a look into it sometime though, looks interesting. Great work!

Raid the Abyss by Static_Leap_Studios 2025-04-24T08:15:28Z

So, the graphics were really nice. I didn't like being stuck to the grid so much, but that's a design choice I guess. I liked the sound effects and the overall vibe, would definitely like to see this developed more!

I also spent a while killing guys and leveling up, then noticed that on the bottom near my sword it said kills: 0

Then I realized the guys I was killing weren't attacking me, and I'm pretty sure I got to like level 9 off of friendly fire killing my AI teammates, since they didn't seem to be attacking me either? Then I went towards the different looking people on the map and suddenly they were attacking me. So... oops?

Raid the Abyss by Static_Leap_Studios 2025-04-24T14:06:38Z

@static-leap-studios Ahh, that makes sense. I don't think you explained anywhere (that I saw anyway) that the different colors meant something. I thought they were all bad guys, maybe just blue were weaker, orange were stronger.

At the very least, I should probably lose EXP for killing allies instead of gaining EXP, unless that's a design choice

Pass through allies would probably be the cleanest solution, just disable collision on allies, leave it on bad guys. Still, good job again!

Earth Below by whateverdat 2025-04-24T06:28:56Z

I agree with basically everything said by @empyreans right above me. Took me a second to figure out exactly how it works, but once I got the hang of it, game felt really fair. Cute pixel art, sound that fit pretty well and wasn't just loud or obnoxious. Great job!

Fridge Dive by Gothamz 2025-04-12T00:00:02Z

Good graphics, I really liked the concept of the game overall.

I'm not really a fan of how much shaking each piece of food had (sometimes I was almost perfect on pulling them out of the fridge, then it would swing wildly and smack something at the last second)

The QTE got kind of annoying pretty fast as I'd be super focused on trying to avoid all the other items in the fridge and then BAM! QTE  I guess that's the point of QTE, though?

Sometimes it was a bit hard for me to see the food I was supposed to be getting because there were other items in front of it, and I kept trying to grab those and move them out of the way but couldn't. Would like to see this expanded on but possibly make it so you can move obstacles out of the way (maybe they'll just make noise when you do so?)

Fun game even if it frustrated me a little bit

SIRTET by Airgameboys 2025-04-24T04:40:08Z

I... did not get a high score lol

Fun game, it's Tetris, but different enough that it made my brain hurt from all the "I think I know what I'm doing bu then oops, I left a gap and game over". The music fit really well, graphics were definitely cohesive, and who doesn't like Tetris, especially with a new twist on it?

Great entry, fun game, awesome job!

Thallas by HDVR02 2025-04-15T11:31:01Z

Mood/Atmosphere were amazing. Here's how my gameplay experience went: - Swim up off the screen assuming there might be more stuff "up". Camera tries to follow me, starts moving up with me. I swim back down, camera doesn't come all the way down, I can't see myself, so I refresh the page. - Swimming along, find some oxygen tanks and repair kits. Oh, cool, a fish thing. OW, he bit me... OW! "YOU DEAD" - Swimming some more, avoid the cool looking fish thing. Can't figure out what else to do. Get eaten by an even BIGGER fish thing. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I liked the graphics and sound, and I see from the comments that it looks like you didn't get to finish the ending, so that explains why I didn't know what else to do. Good job on what you got so far!

The mood/atmosphere was great! I'm really impressed you did this all in your own custom engine! I played the linux version, and that being said, there were quite a few graphical artifacts I noticed, and the level was SUPER dark. It seemed like if there was a light in another hallway (through the wall I guess is the best way to describe it?) I could usually see a flickering square around that, maybe a shader issue or something with transparency? IDK the technical aspect, but I could see them :stuck_out_tongue: Also, alt + enter didn't seem to work for me on Pop_OS 22.04 LTS, despite the fact that I actually have alt + enter bound to toggle fullscreen in apps as well. Despite those things, it was a pretty fun little game, just wish I could have seen better because where there WAS light, the graphics inside the space station looked really good! (Although your description says it's a "dark" space station, so maybe it's supposed to be like this lol) Great job!

Human Coin Chicken Flower by kiv 2025-10-21T05:02:20Z

Sometimes the king would just take 5 of the same thing in a row, so if I wasn't paying enough attention and only had a single one of that resource, I'd still lose.

I LOVE the programmer artwork, makes me happy to see it! I wish you had enough time to add some sounds, but other than that it's a great entry!

Notebook Flight by HomoLudens 2025-10-21T10:14:15Z

Game was pretty fun. For some reason, the web build here on LDjam site wouldn't do anything when I clicked to move (firefox on Pop_OS 22.04 linux) When I went over to itch.io it worked just fine though.

Overall good job!

Siege Crawler by Sharky3188 2025-10-21T05:19:39Z

Music be like "Bum. Ba ba ba bum. Bum bum. Ba baba bum." 10/10 xD

I played this for a lot longer than I expected. Controls were very responsive, even in the web build, and everything worked as I expected it to! Great work, fun game!

Super Sucker by leorean 2025-10-21T10:04:54Z

The trees remind me so much of the MANY hours I spent playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES back in the day. Music and graphics were on point! Amazing job!

Cold Side by Thierry 2025-10-21T04:53:09Z

This was pretty intense! I played the linux build and didn't notice anything I'd call a bug or issue really, other than the sound from the monster seemed to come from random directions, not necessarily where the monster was in relation to me. But other than that, everything seemed to work as expected, controls etc. Graphics were nice, music and sounds were on point as well. Great job!

Collectore - Ludum Dare 58 by Truedat 2025-10-21T10:42:39Z

Music, sound effects, and surprisingly the graphics were all pretty on point. Even though they're "just letters" they felt like they had some weight to them, and I liked collecting the currency.

On the LDjam site, the timer is cut off on the top of the game, but I think that's due to the resolution on LDjam more than your game itself. Still, I enjoyed this quite a lot. Reminds me of a lot of the minigames you get when fishing in Black Desert Online. Good work!

Type II by Jo Bettaque 2025-10-21T10:22:33Z

Maybe it was the music, but this game really gave me some Kerbal Space Program vibes, and I liked that a lot (although I was blowing up more satellites than making them stay in a stable orbit haha) Great job though!

Frame it by Ron88 2025-10-21T10:10:08Z

I liked this a lot, actually. Nice to imagine just casually having the Mona Lisa in my living room to have to try to figure out where to put it amongst the other priceless artworks lol

I also liked the transition effect you did between levels / menu, it looked pretty clean! Great work!

RunicForce by quasilyte 2025-10-21T09:56:25Z

I played this for a bit longer than I expected :3

Sound effects were nice and fit well with the art style, but sometimes I was a little confused on what some of the effects meant (although this could be because I was trying to play it while working as well lol)

Great job!

Mr. Collector by Aynu 2025-10-21T05:35:06Z

I agree that the UI should be bigger. I tried both mouse and controller and after figuring out that moving my right analog stick meant I'd fire in that direction, I had a lot of fun with it!

The only other suggestion I'd have for more improvements is maybe a way to get back health, because once you get hit that's it. Otherwise, great job!

Garbage collector's minion by Mibi88 2025-10-21T05:45:03Z

As someone who has programmed in C and had to do manual memory management with allocating, deallocating, reallocating, etc. This still made my brain hurt :stuck_out_tongue:

Was fun, would have loved any type of sound effects though to add to the experience!

Debt by AcidofiL 2025-10-21T11:32:23Z

How DARE you make a game that makes me feel emotions during a game jam! Just WHO do you think you are?

Seriously though, this was very well done. I haven't gone through it enough to find all the different endings, but I'm impressed you were able to put together something this detailed for the COMPO especially! Great work!

LD59 — Signal

Red Light Synthlight by MrTroy 2026-05-05T21:40:14Z

This game was one of the better ones I've played so far. The music was pretty awesome and fit the game really well! I feel like the jump is a little floaty, but other than that I have nothing to complain about, other than I want more levels

Great job!

Trippin' Ballz by schizoid2k 2026-05-05T21:51:26Z

I think at some point I broke the web build, there were like 200 ballz flying around, I had around 80k points, and even when they hit the rock in the middle, it wasn't cracking anymore and the game kept going.

Other than this, which I only managed to do once, fun game! Like the level of intensity and how it ramps up, and the music was nice and fit well!

I did notice a bit of lag when switching cannons with many ballz on screen, but that might just be an issue in the web build where I was playing. Just wanted to mention it in case you expand the game, may need to check for what is causing that if it happens in the non-web exports.

Channel 59 by auxC 2026-05-06T19:30:20Z

Pretty fun game.

I was stuck in the first room for way too long before I figured out what to do. I also walked through the door with no collision and fell out of the map so I had to restart.

Got stuck trying to play with the physics on the ladders and managed to make one of them fly off into space somewhere.

Neat art style, a lot of atmosphere with the TV people, and looks like it could be made into something friggin' awesome with some more time spent on it! Awesome job!

Apollo's Gift by dikkop 2026-05-07T23:22:26Z

So, I'm not very musically inclined at all. However, I had a lot of fun hitting people with lightning and watching them ragdoll.

Thanks for the laughs, it was pretty fun!

Gecko's Odyssey by RAFFE 2026-05-07T22:49:27Z

I kept losing my UFO and having to restart lol. This was absolutely a skill issue and not a problem with the game, I'm just bad xD

The mechanics are really well done, and the music adds the right amount of atmosphere as well.

The player character's design reminds me of the Madness series from way back on Newgrounds, nice nostalgia hit there for me

Great job and I could see this turning into a full on puzzle platformer with more levels added to it.

Bad Vibes by RubixNoob13 2026-04-22T12:04:42Z

@guydesu @pavel-goncharov Sorry you found this before it was really ready. It's still far from incomplete, but there's at least a proper win/loss condition and more than 2 enemies in what we were able to finish before the Jam. Thanks for checking it out anyway, and I'll be playing and rating others' games very soon, looking forward to checking yours out!

I Had No Signal! by fabelay 2026-05-06T20:22:32Z

So, first of all this game was a lot of fun! I think I also had the bug where I never saw the monster. But the atmosphere was amazing.

I'm a fellow Godot dev, and I missed the HTML embed at first (thought it was just a screenshot of the game) so I downloaded the windows .exe

I'm on Linux, but normally I can get them to run via wine or Bottles. Was having no luck at all, then realized there was an embed. That worked flawlessly, and even the fullscreen toggle in the options menu made the embedded game run in fullscreen instead of the tiny window in the LD website, so that was bonus points!

Overall great job and keep up the good work!

The Last Transmition by Ivan Grigoriev 2026-05-07T22:58:28Z

As you can see in the screenshot, when you make the game full screen, the score on the title screen is out of place as well as the life counter has an image in front of it through the little window on the top right.

The actual game seems fine graphically, this just seems to be on the title screen.

Game was fun and challenging, probably the most literal interpretation of the theme I've seen so far. Graphics were nice. While I've seen some people say they'd like background music, not sure I agree, because it might mess with your perception of hearing the signal when you play it back to see how close you are to correct. Fun game!

Crowbar and Sonar by Anthony Katona 2026-05-06T19:14:00Z

Cute little game! I like the concept of the sonar to see in dark rooms. I attempted something similar but in 2D way back in LD48 for echolocation for a bat.

I did notice a few stutters/lag spikes, it seemed like when you hit the trigger to display the on screen texts for the first time, like when you walk towards the wall switch, etc. It seemed to only do it the first time you hit each switch though, so maybe it's an object creation lag spike? Thought I would mention it.

The sound also seemed to do ... odd things ... when I was using the scroll to control where the sonar was.

Level design was pretty good for a jam, and I liked the overall mood of how some rooms were super dark and you needed the sonar, and some weren't as dark. Great job!

AGENTS RHYTHM & RAID by Nadia Pixel 2026-05-05T18:37:14Z

I LOVE the art style! Super cute!

The combat section was fun, but the rhythm to catch the signal felt a bit incomplete, like not knowing how many I had missed/collected until the end, compared to something like a Guitar Hero or Rock Band game which gives immediate feedback to that.

Still, had a lot of fun playing this and would like to see a more polished version in the future!

Tunnel Vision by Risminator 2026-05-05T21:27:05Z

This was a fun little game! I really liked the atmosphere. Snek looks silly but also the close camera view / fog effect made it feel almost like a horror game where you never knew if the Snek was gonna just pop out of the next corner.

Great work!

Mayday - Keep the signal alive by UnrestStudio 2026-05-08T01:26:52Z

The music fit the vibe of the game really well. I like how when it went to the steering minigame it felt super tense due to the change in music.

We had the same issue that some have mentioned with fonts being weird in our game. Apparently with Godot, in the editor, if the font you are using is missing a character, it'll fall back to using a system font. But in the web export, you'll get the little box which is (apparently) a unicode character code printed inside a square since the sandboxing of the web export can't access the filesystem directly.

You can double click the font you're using in the FileSystem tab, then click "Pre-Render Configurations" at the top and "Glyphs from the character map" to see if the symbol you want to use exists in the font you're planning to use to see if it's going to be an issue. We had to replace the ~ and { with just a - and [ symbols because they weren't in the font we picked to use for some text, and it was too far along to change the font at that point.

I also think there was a bug with the radar scanning minigame, but I eventually got it to let me rescue the poor people stranded.

Cute pixel art and a really fun little experience! Nice work!

Peace : 165 by OasisGreen 2026-05-09T00:25:11Z

I really enjoyed the art style and sound design in this game. While it was a bit short, it IS just a game jam, after all. Would love to see where the story could go in the future!

TernTile by CrazyTegative 2026-05-07T23:12:46Z

I tried to play the embed on the Ludum Dare page and I get this error message: Screenshot from 2026-05-07 18-07-47.png

Seems to work fine on the Itch page however.

The music you selected fits VERY well with the game itself, sort of a chill puzzle game vibe. Yes, reminds me of "Lights Out" but with 3 colors instead of 2, which adds a whole new level of challenge to the game.

Great job!

OVERDRIVE SIGNAL by ihar21 2026-05-07T23:37:38Z

This is sort of like a 3D version of our original version of our 2D platformer. We had planned to add in some upgrades so there were different signal strengths you had to match to defeat different enemies. Sadly, due to time and other issues, we only ended up with 1 enemy and 1 weapon.

The graphics and sound fit well with the fast pace of the game, and I liked trying to match up the signal to be able to fire at the cyborgs. Great work!

heartbeat by ouhiiiii 2026-05-07T23:03:10Z

Beep beep beep

So, if you go too fast, game over. If you go too slow, game over. So you have to at least vaguely simulate the speed that the heart should be beating.

I do like that the visuals actually seem to match up with how fast or slow you are making the heart beat. I see potential in it, maybe as a mini-game in a larger hospital sim or something like that? Could do some interesting stuff with this I think!

Send the Signal by Pavel Goncharov 2026-05-05T18:28:51Z

The controls feel really nice. I love the pixel art and the beep boop music track! I also was going to suggest making the timer get lower once all the rocks were destroyed, but then noticed it actually did that, so awesome job lol.

I *think* there was a time or 2 where I missed a rock with the bomb, but loot still spawned in the empty space anyway (maybe a rock that wasn't visible but still had collision on, or maybe I imagined it?)

Overall amazing job!

Packet Panic by Sebastian Fuehr 2026-05-08T23:46:31Z

Fun little game! I was trying to figure out a way to optimize so I didn't have ANY dropped packets, but I think that's impossible lol

Would have liked some music or sounds to add some atmosphere but otherwise a great entry!

Drum`n`Ice by PepeBrante 2026-05-08T23:51:46Z

REALLY interesting take on a rhythm game! The controls took me a second to figure out, I think mostly because the embed on the Ludum Dare site made the arrows REALLY small, so I was having trouble seeing which one I needed for which spell.

Graphics were cute, the music and sound effects fit well. Overall, really solid entry!

ROGER-ROGER, LOGGER! by CHAD-GPT 2026-05-07T18:42:22Z

Fun little game, although it took me a sec to realize WHICH vehicle I was controlling, so the first frog got a free pass to Area 51 lol

Cute graphics, controls felt nice, sound fit well with the overall vibe of the game. Great job!

A Night with a Verbose Cat by Guydesu 2026-05-05T18:14:58Z

Pretty fun little game. Unfortunately I exploded the cat more than once, and couldn't bring myself to go through all the scanning again the second time since I was basically done when he exploded.

The text scrolling could be a little slower. I read pretty fast and had trouble keeping up sometimes. I liked the cute cat and the art style was nice!

ULTRA-RADAR by ZezinhoESR 2026-05-07T23:28:12Z

The audio was a bit much once there were a lot of ships on the radar.

I'd have also liked to see some type of penalty for just spam firing, like maybe limited ammo or a score penalty for misses. Otherwise, fun little game, good work!

Find Divine by vicebrother 2026-05-07T23:49:15Z

As a fellow Godot user, it's super easy to also make a web build, and generally more people will play that. Even in a game jam, sometimes people are hesitant to download stuff from people they don't know and run it on their system.

I'm also on linux, but I was able to get the Windows version to run under Bottles and play it.

I did notice a bit of the z-fighting that people mentioned with some textures, but MAN the audio work was amazing in this! First time in ages I've been legitimately jump scared, and I was in a well-lit room at like 6 in the afternoon, not super spooky dark room at 2am like it normally takes to scare me. Amazing job!
