LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Super Space Explorer by DigitalCrest 2021-04-27T15:51:21Z

The limited movement makes the game more strategic than I assumed at first :D it's fun to try to gauge whether to go for a star or dodge faraway incoming moon! Got a high score of 17 with a very lucky streak at the end.

The Incredible Adventures of Oleg by Nikolay Zapolnov 2021-04-27T14:55:30Z

Super cute! Really interesting blend of sokoban puzzles and action dodging. I especially enjoyed navigating through the ghost/slime enemies.

Deep Meditation by Evil_As_Shit 2021-04-27T09:56:37Z

Fun little game, the leaderboard is a nice touch! Trying to mentally block Chug Jug With You hits too real though :'D

Werm - an existential adventure by m11 2021-04-28T20:36:01Z

Fun game and great showert houghts keep it engaging :D not sure if something was broken but I couldn't figure out how to restart after losing other than refreshing the page

Transcendental by pdotjpg 2021-04-27T15:09:18Z

The lasso mechanic is very satisfying when you reel in a good one!

Fore! by TheBlondeBass 2021-04-28T19:20:59Z

Nice way to mix it up with restrictions! The dialogue was fun too :D

Moot by Peco 2021-04-27T09:18:11Z

Lots of potential for expanding the game mechanics, only gripe was that the character could move a bit faster. Art and soundscapes (ground material footstep sounds!) are great and ending song is such a banger!

Bad Day to be a Bunny by joonamo 2021-04-27T15:58:07Z

Everything comes together so well in this one! I really want a prequel comic book in this style of the bunny running into trouble with the cat mob :D

Abyss Asylum by Dmitry Kaidash 2021-04-27T08:30:17Z

The art is incredible, love the details like the cloth animation!

The only issue I had was that the invisible walls in the minefield-section were a bit jarring and the fails felt unfair until I noticed what's going on :sweat_smile:

Ropedive by lootgrounds 2021-04-27T11:09:03Z

Very nice pacing, love how mechanics and obstacles are introduced! I hit a bug on level 5 where my character was above the screen, I almost completed the level blind but died around the end :D

T-Minus by michaelaranda 2021-04-30T16:35:39Z

Lovely game, the art style is super nice! I especially like the 3D planets and the flag on the black hole is a good visual cue that it's the goal :D

Selkö by Doot 2021-04-27T15:40:46Z

It's super impressive how immersive this game manages to get in such a short time, it really feels like you're exploring the ocean floor!

Disaster Dig by alpharock6 2021-04-27T16:56:29Z

This game shows combining Motherload with a crafting/refining system has a lot of potential! Would be cool to build new furnaces or even limited distance auto-miners or something. It's a bit weird how the fuel tank absorbs all the fuel even if it's full but it doesn't really matter as dirt is plentiful, just can't keep two smelters working on ore.

Disaster Dig by alpharock6 2021-05-03T16:06:36Z

@alpharock6 re: auto-miners, thought it might be fun to be able to build some drone/bot that mines say 20 tiles the side and then you could collect the materials, might not be worth the cost though as ore is not that common. Yea the fuel situation is tricky, could store it in some non-movable containers but then it would just accumulate endlessly. Maybe you could use the leftover fuel as some ingredient in a future construction thingy :D

Dungeon Slide by DotSquare 2021-04-28T21:39:11Z

The design looks super cool but either I haven't understood the mechanics or I have a bug that I can't move up or down on the left side of the second map leaving me stuck to the wall forever.

Dungeon Slide by DotSquare 2021-04-28T22:11:14Z

@dotsquare no worries, the design I saw from 1.5 levels seems great already! hope you can find a fix! Feel free to tag me in case you upload a fix at some point :D

Crust by exopunk 2021-04-28T18:55:38Z

Really cool game with cool moody art! I wish there was a bit more motivation to go faster than the timer at the end to make players hone their grappling skills :D

Into the Deep by Adam K 2021-04-27T08:50:53Z

The difficulty progression is great! The text is super blurry when not in full-screen mode for me (looks like some kinda mipmap bias issue?).

Trolling In The Deep by Joshua Jebadurai 2021-04-27T16:17:56Z

Amazing 2D animation! Unfortunately the fast scrolling background gives me some serious motion sickness, maybe it could do with some slow parallax :D

Falling Rock by David Horning 2021-04-27T10:47:06Z

Super cool warning sign-esque graphic design! I agree with other people about wishing there was sounds, didn't realize how much it contributes until it isn't there..

Darkness Muse by Evil Villain Games 2021-04-28T18:08:15Z

Really like the core gameplay, the charging time before shooting notes makes it a lot more satisfying!

Gecko Dive by bqq 2021-04-27T09:00:40Z

@sendnoose did you try the quality settings in the pause menu (esc)? Would be interesting to know if it's laggy even with low settings!

Gecko Dive by bqq 2021-04-27T10:50:19Z

Thanks all for the amazing feedback!

@pdotjpg fun thing, the movement mechanics were just from the shape of the gecko, but the first time I got the movement working and tested it it was like "oh damn, this is so Snakebird!" :D

Colour Mine by Carpet Games 2021-04-27T11:36:49Z

The skill-based movement that switching colors introduces is really nice!

LD49 — Unstable

Fast Flats! by Stending 2021-10-06T21:52:20Z

At first the gameplay seemed completely based on luck but it turns out that this concept actually does work quite well with a bit of practice. I really like the minimalistic graphics and chill music (especially the NG+ tunes :D) great work!

ALL PLANED by Sirkovitch 2021-10-07T19:38:48Z

Such a nice game, fun to play and all around well polished! The environment art captures the feeling of looking down from a plane perfectly!

Jingoku by Skyeward 2021-10-06T17:33:11Z

That is some insanely polished UI art! The visuals and audio come together perfectly as well. I would have needed like a second longer timer to avoid getting hit with that æ‚Șい all the damn time :D

Elemental Slime by rayriver 2021-10-06T14:05:39Z

Nice style! Gets surprisingly complicated trying to calculate the HP loss, I felt smart for beating the medkit level but then got stumped :D

City of Cards by TheGamer1123211 2021-10-06T11:03:21Z

Really neat simplified abstraction of a city builder! The randomized cards were fun but in the end I found myself picking and recycling cards so I could spam road pieces :D maybe it could have a bit more penalty if done often? Also visually very pleasing to play, great work!

SIRTET by Aggrathon 2021-10-20T21:53:41Z

Nice game! A small thing but I really appreciate the input options, had a streak of too many games forcing WASD which is really hard for me. Also I didn't expect you could get as much depth out of the game as you did, great level design (!)

PTSD Fishing by KuKuRammus 2021-10-06T22:27:21Z

Pretty art and probably the most intense QTE I've seen in a long while :D The contrast between calm fishing and PTSD is very well executed!

Monsters by Pio 2021-10-14T21:39:28Z

Creepy mood, the audio was really spooky in dark at night! The mouse sensitivity was a bit fast for my tastes.

penguin.exe by Yngvarr 2021-10-08T16:04:23Z

Hey another fellow penguin dev :D Nice touches with the BIOS text and I'm really happy to see the drag select working, a feature that I've been disappointed to see missing in almost all the desktop simulators here! The penguins and sounds are super cute as well, had a good time!

Cursed Duality by harusame 2021-10-06T23:35:41Z

I don't think I've seen that combination ever before, congratulations on the novel idea! Also nice work making it actually work, the platforming feels just right and I love how your play area shrinks if you don't pay attention to the match 3 part. Good work all around!

Delivery impossible by Nikolay Zapolnov 2021-10-06T13:48:10Z

Fun game but maybe a little too hard for me, the volcano level destroyed me with a rock right at the end :'D Really like the variety of missions that make the game feel fresh, the photos add nice personality to each one!

Shaky Ground by ryusui 2021-10-14T20:07:04Z

Nice game! One more impatient person rushing through the game without the psychic powers :D I like the exploding-head-as-cooldown mechanic. Also the first platform felt a bit unfair as I lost the second I pressed right, but on the other hand I found it funny enough that I'd consider it a feature :D (also it's not really punishing as you can literally just restart)

Larry the Vengeful Balloon by Nick Rafalski 2021-10-06T14:10:01Z

Nice! Reminds me of VVVVVV's super gravitron that I used to grind in the past. I like the music change with the yellow spam section :D

QA - The Game! by Chartle 2021-10-06T23:04:40Z

Such a good take on the "unstable game" direction and the execution of the idea works so well! Incredible voice acting and writing. I for one can't wait for Meatball Monday.

Return To The Ranch: Project Freedom by jelch 2021-10-16T12:41:59Z

At first I hated the slow acceleration but after learning to play it makes going fast a lot more satisfying :D (well maybe a tiny bit of acceleration wouldn't hurt). I had a bit of audio crackling on the web build but that's sometimes hard to avoid. Nice music and solid graphics as well!

Garbostackers by Runuchok 2021-10-07T16:58:17Z

Neat game, I appreciate the voxel graphics, don't see enough of those around! One thing I really like is the "WARNING: UNSTABLE" that is missing from many of these balancing-type games, it really helps!

Stronkey Kong by 100th_Coin 2021-10-06T20:18:22Z

Great twist on a classic game, good job on making the DK aspects feel so authentic! Also nice idea with forcing the building to make sense so you can't just spam cheap floating girders and call it a day :D

BLAME IT ON THE RAIN by bellatrion 2021-10-08T00:34:59Z

Really fun story, art and music! The timer was pretty tight but I got through on my third attempt. Then I realized you had an easy build (that I didn't need in the end :D), but after playing a ton of too hard LD entries I really appreciate it!

Tilted Chicken Game by RAC-Games 2021-10-05T22:46:39Z

Had a good laugh with this one :D Neat way to balance the game by making it easier to complete levels with less eggs!

Rumble by BrothersT 2021-10-05T21:35:41Z

Great art style and a very neat and polished intro/tutorial segment! I like that you can't just handle everything and have to prioritize which areas to fix.

Ludumium by blaster391 2021-10-06T14:48:30Z

Love the design and the minimalistic aesthetic! Also nice for getting the theme on two levels (unstable particles and physical containers). Unfortunately the timer was too fast for me and I had to give up after failing the Brokenium level (which I thought was really nice otherwise) like 5 times. I think the game would work very well without the timer as most of the fun for me comes from coming up with solutions rather than executing them. I felt so smart when I came up for a solution for Floatium only from the name :D

Crumbling Mind by NoeTheLazyDev 2021-10-08T16:25:46Z

Very nice game, I don't know how you managed to make it feel so smooth compared to most platformers, I really like that! I think the orange juice had some 1-3 seconds, not sure if this is intended. The music and environment art work well together to convey a feeling of desolation. Thanks a lot for including proper checkpoints, the last might have been a bit tough but I'll let it slide as it was the last one :D Really enjoyed my playthrough!

Yeetr by timon 2021-10-14T21:21:38Z

Cool game! Actually the first UE5 game I've tried (does the lighting use Nanite? :D) I got a chuckle out of the falling buttons and the texts were nice, wish there was more of those `TODO` ones! I was a bit confused in the last level but managed to complete it by running around in circles and spamming buttons.

Toil and Trouble by bassguitarbill 2021-10-07T22:50:40Z

I really like the way the background music changes between rooms, the singing plants is my jam :D The cooking minigame really sells the aspect of brewing but like mentioned above recollecting the ingredients can be a bit frustrating. Interesting seeing it be implemented directly via a canvas, cool work! Oh, and all the art is great as well, good job all around :D

Dog ate the bomb by Aspabot 2021-10-07T11:18:02Z

Really fun game, I really like that the flashing is synced to the beat! I think it's also very smart to use the crossroads as checkpoints as they have a connotation of "safety" and blend into the environment. The music is very nice as well!

Unstables by joonamo 2021-10-05T10:16:39Z

Great game! Despite the theme the physics were rock solid, even with high speeds and crazy jumps the grabbing just _works_. Had to grind to just barely get to the leaderboard :D

Office Novice by HermesEs 2021-10-06T11:36:23Z

Best LD entry I've seen in a while! There's so much I love about it so I just have to make a list of thoughts I had while playing, please skip this if you don't want to be spoiled:

- Character selection and settings were a super neat addition even though not required for the game - All the characters and environment art are super cute - I really like the fire spreading from the unmanaged broken computers - The "health" chart display in the wall is super smart, it's very clear and fits the world perfectly - Oh my god the consumable items (water, coffee, snacks) have the ICON IN THE WORLD at the correct location, that is such a good design idea! - ... and what is that mallard statue on the floor below, I love it :D

The only improvement I could think is that the chart paper is not only located at the copiers like with the other icons, so I was trying to pick up papers from the tables causing a metal mayhem :D All in all 5/5 job, had a blast!

Cyberduk by abvadabra 2021-10-04T23:27:16Z

The level design is so good, perfect pacing of introducing new concepts! Looks great and fits the theme like a glove :D Only wish there'd be a couple of checkpoints for my sausage fingers.

Mint by Préda 2021-10-08T00:12:54Z

Really smart way of depicting zero gravity movement, the animations associated with that are incredible as well!

Senatus by Matthieu Riboulot 2021-10-05T21:15:20Z

Clever take on the theme! Probably just me being slow but the "Find the schemer" minigame took a while for me to understand as I tried to click all the knife wielding people and it changed around every time I clicked it until the finger randomly aligned :D The art is very nice as well, especially the bath minigame animation.

Electro-Twixt by RubixNoob13 2021-10-06T22:18:56Z

Really nice way to design everything around a few mechanics, like using EMF for shooting, locating _and_ health, it worked really well in my opinion!

Escaped Plague by Federico Giorgi 2021-10-06T17:07:46Z

Really cool style, I don't know what it is but the rain felt super moody! Voice acting was also really nice to have, I enjoyed it :D

Dextertiary by Elnu 2021-10-16T14:03:14Z

I really like the mood with the music and the art complements it well. The timer could have been a tiny bit longer but it was pretty intense racing through the levels :D Also kind of a personal wish but it'd be nice if the arrow keys also worked as it's more ergonomic for me (I actually finished the game with my hands crossed with driving WASD using my right hand :D)

Unstabally World by Holy 2021-10-06T14:17:32Z

One of my favorite takes on the emotional unstability angle, each reaction feels right and the music fits well!

Instability Verse by Stroe Andrew 2021-10-05T23:16:44Z

I really like the radial-like menu for building! Unfortunately it seems like some buildings don't appear for me (or then I'm misunderstanding something) and the audio seems to crackle on the web build.

Highdepth by GreenRadiation 2021-10-11T19:14:02Z

Neat game with nice aesthetics! I had an issue where I couldn't move for a couple of seconds after failing which was a bit frustrating. Also nice soundtrack! Is there some side-chaining to fade the volume when you jump or am I just imagining it? :D

Glitch Stability by Ekaterina 2021-10-16T12:29:10Z

Nice game! I kept grinding for coins not understanding that there is a walljump for too long though :D The music and visuals fit very well!

The Town of Clarity by IvanPavlov 2021-10-14T20:35:06Z

Nice style, I think the character could have used one or two frames of animation for walking but other than that looking great!

Potential spoiler: (?) !> Not sure if you're supposed to learn it in-game (I didn't at least) but I think mentioning shift to move faster would be good (if I wasn't just imagining it, but it really _feels_ like it :D)

They need attention by Dock Frankenstein 2021-10-16T12:15:21Z

Very moody and great art/sound design! My aim was too bad to complete the third level as the switches kept resetting, I tried with the god mode cheat and was stuck at an infinite jump scare :D

Tipsy by Trusty 2021-10-14T21:47:54Z

Nice modeling work! I don't know if it's good or bad but that camera was the first non-VR thing to give me motion sickness, good job if that was the goal :D

Meowgician by Paul-Maxime 2021-10-07T16:10:49Z

Very nice game, I really liked planning an optimal route! The music speeding up works really well to communicate a sense of urgency. On my second playthrough I noticed you can leave objects laying around to be used in later rounds which makes the game easier, just saying in case it wasn't intended :D Really cute art as well, I really like the animated props!

Tetrawave by zinnin 2021-10-05T22:05:24Z

Wow didn't expect this modification to change the game so fundamentally. The slow falling blocks and fast tilting makes it so tense to counterbalance the board back with a move that's at least not terrible :D

Temple Of Tozi by Denzil Gomes 2021-10-06T20:37:06Z

Really good tutorial section! The pacing of introducing concepts was great and the slow revealing of text in the environment was fantastic. The last puzzle kept me stumped for a long time :D If you were going to expand the game at some point I'd recommend removing the platforms from the left side of that puzzle so they don't confuse players. I would love to see extra levels to this!

Under P'ARRRR by Fear Games 2021-10-08T16:11:12Z

Fun gameplay, good call on making the physics so bouncy, it really makes the game for me!

DepressPnker! by SwimmableBee912 2021-10-05T11:59:57Z

A bit confusing at first but really cool when you get the hang of it! Love the stylistic choices and the visualized inputs!

It's not a bug, it's a feature by Life_Lich 2021-10-11T22:25:50Z

Nice card game mechanics! I really like the music (as in actual good music :D) it reminds me of some Alva Noto stuff. I couldn't beat the tree-like enemy after multiple attempts with different card combinations but had fun with this one, great job!

Wife Dono, Kouhai Kun, and The Unstable Machine by Mooptychunk 2021-10-14T21:36:13Z

Great game, very juicy! I had a couple of minor bugs (resolution broken on first launch, stuck if you lose the game while mounting the gun) but otherwise had a great time :D Oh and the art and color palette are excellent!

Trauma by AdamCYounis 2021-10-06T00:25:40Z

Super cool idea! Shame that at least for me I would know what actions to do but executing them was sometimes a bit fiddly.

Crooked Castle (Web) by trmrddr 2021-10-05T23:55:18Z

Really nice game with music that makes me want to smash some spirits with my skelly hands :D Always lost at level 6, I think it might be nice if the enemies would have an attack animation that could be dodged instead of by contact. Anyways love the details like the falling goo particles and choppy skeleton animation!

Bullet Balance by Robonaut121 2021-10-06T17:11:58Z

Nice game, I think having the platform on a flat surface was a really good idea as you have this sort-of stable area in the middle!

Among Monolyths by Dekajoo 2021-10-06T19:31:29Z

Really nice puzzle game, really in the spirit of The Witness! I found the story very heartwarming and works really well with the gameplay, especially with re-learning symbols and arithmethic :D

Riot Village by Getem Ratan 2021-10-06T14:55:52Z

Never thought capturing a precise blob of rioters without touching any non-angry people could be this satisfying :D Nice work!

Everything is Fine by Noire 2021-10-06T23:16:04Z

Very well handled for such a heavy subject matter. The scenes where you had to focus on the screen and objects was a perfect representation of the hangover haziness. I'm really impressed how the combination of art and sound design can convey the feeling of many scenes without any motion, great work!

Grabanakki by Saturnyoshi 2021-10-06T23:45:37Z

Now that's one polished game! I felt like the one hit fail is a bit too punishing but at least the waves were short enough that it's not the end of the world when you get sniped by an enemy. Great music and art!

Natura Disastia by Dedjo0 2021-10-08T01:08:47Z

Really cool combat system, it's really fun to play! The character designs and art (especially the spirits, they have a lot of character) is also super good! The only constructive feedback I have is that the long text tutorials in the game description almost scared me away (boy am I glad I didn't leave :D) so you might want to simplify those a bit more to the core idea like "Alternate between placing spirits and casting spells using them" to sell the game. The UI and gameplay also worked really well, I even got a chuckle out of the intro text each time :D Great work everyone!

Ebb and Feel by Baconeta 2021-10-07T19:51:06Z

The background art and music create a wonderful mood! The gameplay felt pretty punishing, some checkpoints as mentioned above would really help so I wouldn't need to backtrack if I waste the red potion for example.

Understable by vidim888 2021-10-16T13:05:55Z

What a beautiful game, I really enjoyed it! Not 100% sure what the green heart means (co-dependence maybe?). Great music and cute art as well!

The Builders by Dante2001 2021-10-08T00:02:29Z

Wow what a ride, great experience! That Sarah jumpscare got me good at 3am :D Nice work with the writing!

Snowbody's Mountain by WeAreDev 2021-10-07T23:07:08Z

I like the way the levels are structured in two phases, it really keeps the gameplay fresh. The rolling parts could be made a bit shorter at least in the earlier levels as it's pretty difficult. Cute graphics and nice soundtrack!

Rolling Home by memoryFloater 2021-10-07T19:06:48Z

Very cute game! Nice progression with getting multiple Sleems, maybe it could be spread out a bit more, at least I was playing with one first and then suddenly had 6 :D Really unique art style that works well and cheerful music, good job!

Tables & Tremors by SlimmerBurger 2021-10-06T15:24:14Z

I really like the mechanics but I think I would need to have the game slowed down by like 20% to be able to play it :D The hand sprites are super cool!

Hellbamb by Alopar 2021-10-06T22:03:40Z

Super polished feel, the designs of the deadly sins look great and recognizable! I was very confused about the gameplay until I understood that the order of the souls mattered, but after that it made sense :D The background music is also very fitting.

Floemobile by DecrementedPalindrome 2021-10-14T19:43:58Z

Fun game! I like that you can see the splits in checkpoints and the UI animation with it is neat! After some learning I managed to get a PB of 46.07:

ld_pb.png

Deathrail by Hotowlgirls 2021-10-06T19:58:23Z

Interesting blend of 2D and 3D art, the soundtrack really slaps! I had the same issue as some other people that I got stuck on journal #3 (tested both WebGL and PC builds, happened on both). I guess that's the end of the game?

MELTDOWN by rafatic 2021-10-14T21:07:13Z

Nice inversion of the reactor concept! I think I had a bug where sometimes mashing the skill buttons (without selecting a target) increased the unstability. The skills themselves are pretty neat though when they work!

Danub: Potion Packer by Vaulkhar Alexis 2021-10-06T14:27:39Z

Really cool aesthetics! Gameplay-wise would have wished for a bit more easing into it with maybe some very simple potions as it was initially a bit overwhelming. After getting into the rhythm it did capture the feel of making and shipping potions though :D

Paranoia by Tomate_Salat 2021-10-11T19:35:33Z

Nice job on the atmosphere, scanning the environment with the light feels like exploring! I also hit the 3-1 bug where I got stuck. I think the thing the wall-jump would need is a bit of slack time where you can jump while steering away from the wall.

CATACLYSM by his-games 2021-10-09T16:01:43Z

Really nice music and cool 1-bit art! Not sure if it was due to WebGL but I had some input lag on jumping. That combined with the hitboxes unfortunately made it too hard for me to complete unfortunately.

Crazy Cauldron by Quite Good 2021-10-05T23:33:56Z

So good, everything is teeming with charm and personality! The only thing I was missing was a hotkey or a bigger click area (like the whole side of the screen) to switch between the collection and brewing modes. All the art and audio are top-notch, bravo!

SANCTITY Compliant Yggdrasil Worldship by alyd asmar 2021-10-09T13:29:28Z

Thank you for making this, I found myself thinking about it long after I had gone through the forms. The medium is really unique but it feels "real" as those could be artifacts from that universe.

(DE)BUGGER by PossiblyAxolotl 2021-10-05T22:31:58Z

Nice level design, cool concept with activating the enemies (not even to mention how cute it's that the bugs get mad when you're fixing them :D)

Ethereal Runner by jabsatz 2021-10-08T00:23:56Z

Really well executed tutorial, was really necessary as the mechanics are quite complex :D Nice style as well, I really like the glow effect you get as you gain magic!

Cloudy Adventure by Paprikcho 2021-10-16T11:52:09Z

Neat game, the movement was hard at first but was a fun challenge after learning how it works (like doing longer horizontal arcs :D). I think the fail trigger at the clouds could be a bit lower, it feels pretty bad to get faded out just by dipping in a bit. Sounds are very nice as well, good feeling of speed!

Eldritch Horse by Knipsch 2021-10-14T21:27:23Z

Hah what a game, good chaotic fun :D I noticed that you can drag the "Mutation Level" slider in-game, could probably disable the interaction on that if that's not intended. Music fits nicely as well!

Rise of the Emoji by LaurenceOgden 2021-10-05T23:43:17Z

The questions were pretty hard for me (maybe due to being non-native) but getting through them was so worth it for that ending :D Great voiceover all along

FlipFlopHop by EnergizedBlast 2021-10-06T23:58:50Z

Yooo another penguin game, love the little helmet! Fun game but I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I get close to the end and just tumble down :D

Wobbly Penguins by bqq 2021-10-05T17:43:52Z

@joonamo Thanks :D I really prefer web builds myself too when playing so I tried to make the web build as smooth as possible. I just hit some bad issues with playtesting (literally froze one machine needing a reboot on a level transition) so the disclaimer is there mostly just in case.

5 Minutes by o_sim 2021-10-14T20:23:32Z

Neat concept! First I failed due to there not being a fast way to reduce pressure but after trying it again I quite like that feature. I got further when I tried to keep the pressure from increasing by keeping the middle toggle enabled most of the time which makes the game more tense in other areas!

Shards of Me by Craftgineer 2021-10-09T18:01:16Z

Really wholesome game! I got a bit lost around the red "hate" blob but had a good time up to that point :D The soundtrack is amazing as well!

Baba Yaga by Teegan 2021-10-07T23:23:31Z

Really creative game an unique art style! I can't believe you made me feel sad for gigantic talons getting hurt, I had to always heal them back up :D The dual character control scheme is very interesting as well. I had an issue where the bottle breaking sound effect has a crackle in the end which probably could be removed. Great work all around!

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-06T00:12:13Z

Turns out it's really fun to try to speedrun. I'm garbage but got a PB of 30.47 :D

False Angel by Jonah_SRG 2021-10-06T16:54:34Z

Nailed the feeling of playing a NES game, the difficulty for each stage was just right so that I could finish them with a couple of attempts!

Abyss' Stare by VinĂcius Pessoa 2021-10-05T22:23:49Z

Cool aesthetics! Really wish there was checkpoints in each room though as it's very difficult so getting sent to the beginning is pretty punishing.

Abyss' Stare by VinĂcius Pessoa 2021-10-05T22:44:59Z

@daniel-malcher Yea that happens to me every time without enough playtesting as well :D It's so easy to get used to your own game and make it too hard

stable.exit() by quiggy 2021-10-06T22:07:11Z

Fun gameplay, I like the little gusts of wind :D Sometimes there was a cactus right at the spawn killing me though

Slime Your Way Up by Haise 2021-10-05T21:51:49Z

I started wishing for a way to see the jump strength and direction indicator like @jakobthequizguy wrote, but after playing it for a while I think I prefer it this way: You get a feel for the jump timing and it becomes somewhat of a rhythm game (at least for me) which was very nice. Challenging but made it to the top just short of 600 seconds :D

spirit supper by commentaccord 2021-10-16T14:12:11Z

Cute game, the art is just adorable! The music is great but seems to be panned 100% to the left (?). Also it would be nice if you could use the arrow keys to move around as well.

Leap Frog! by FALKon2246 2021-10-05T20:05:14Z

Fun game :D The double jump mechanic really adds a lot of depth to the gameplay! A minor improvement but it would be cool to have some visual indicator for having the double jump status.

Meltdown!! by manzdeh 2021-10-16T14:23:31Z

Nice puzzles! I would appreciate being able to move with the arrow keys as well. Nice job for making it in C++ :D

Batscape by agameortwo 2021-10-06T00:38:36Z

Very impressed with the way you got varied gameplay out of a single mechanic, well done!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Afwas by thomz12 2022-04-12T22:08:40Z

Neat game! Always appreciate using a custom engine even though these days I've succumbed to Unity for the convenience. The little scaling effect on physics contact feels nice, sometimes I felt a bit betrayed by the RNG (especially with those damn snowballs :D). I couldn't figure out how to make a structurally integral tower and always lost around 60-70 or so, but that's probably just me being bad at this type of games :D

Adelie - Chasing Pavements by Meep 2022-04-12T21:55:23Z

Fun game! Took me a while to get a hang of combining items but that made the game a lot more strategically interesting. Love the snowfall and footstep particle effects! Was a bit confused after losing that I couldn't find any way to restart the game in-game but had to use the PICO-8 "Reset" feature (though this might be normal for PICO-8 arcade games, I don't have much experience :D). Great pixel art as well, loved the entry in general!

Crash Defense by maxxim 2022-04-15T20:33:19Z

Nice game, feels pretty well balanced with the upgrades! Like many others it also took me a while to notice the stacks on the player, also took me a while to realize that you could partially put resources to upgrading.

Oh also on a meta-tip I noticed that you have given over 20 ratings but still don't have 20 ratings for your game, I recommend leaving some comments as the new "smart" algorithm that most people use to discover games really requires.

CRAB IS INEVITABLE! by luthwyhn 2022-04-16T12:10:50Z

Great game, the upgrades feel great to collect! I too had the crash with upgrading and didn't see the fixed version, I'd consider replacing the Jam version with the fixed one by default (and having a buggy version if you want to :D), at least my interpretation of the rules is that _fixes_ are acceptable to have in the main version, but new features should have a separate post-jam download. Also love the fact that you're morphing to a evil crab and the sea urchin is a great merchant "NPC" :D

Block or Bust by 100th_Coin 2022-04-09T19:46:29Z

Great game! Love the super fluid running animation and the dress up mode :D Very juicy execution and everything feels just right!

Manual Manny! by ghost-in-the-toast 2022-04-16T10:53:47Z

That's one polished Gameboy game! The moving while leaning mechanic was nice though I was only able to get up to SKA, a bit disappointed that going out of the door didn't have a secret ending but understandable given the situation (like shipping a whole damn GB ROM in three days :D). Love the music and art as well, great work everyone!

Please Don't Date Me by Shess 2022-04-15T19:27:59Z

Hah nice concept and great dialogue :D The reverse playing UI was very confusing to me at first but I understood it better on the second playthrough. Would have been cool if the game would have paused right before the "player" clicks the choice for the first time, allowing you to change the selection while paused to get the player familiar with the concept (I know how annoying things like this are to do under time pressure, just dreaming here :D)

Also is that Red Ray engine custom, it looks neat!

Video Games : the game by namnam 2022-04-15T18:54:52Z

Nice twist on blackjack! Love the code descriptions on the card effects :D I feel like the red cards got introduced a bit fast, the moment I got the first one they kind of piled on me. The art is great all around, nice unified look!

Mythic Garden by Silas Reinagel 2022-04-16T14:04:52Z

Nice game with very pleasant graphics and audio! Good progression with a slow ramp-up to get used to the game mechanics. Fun voice acting as well (especially the dry waaateeeer, I can really sympathize with that plant :D). The upgrades felt meaningful but not overpowered as well, all in all a very well rounded entry!

The Hill I Die On by DevVex 2022-04-15T23:34:06Z

Looks so nice, love the pixel shadows! The one-two melee combo looks and feels great as well, I tried to use the swipe attack only a little due to your comment so I got some challenge out of it. (also incidentally saw your YouTube channel and a fix for the URP shadow issue that has been haunting me so thanks for that :D)

CounterSplit by NekuSoul 2022-04-09T20:50:40Z

Very cool minimalistic game, love the UI design! Only feedback is that I wish that 11 and 12 would be even easier to spot as I often lost by not seeing where the large numbers are :D

EDIT: Though that could be an intended part of the game which is valid as well!

Pachinko is Life by Don Fouts 2022-04-09T18:44:14Z

!> I thought I was going into a simple pachinko minigame but the progression really caught me off guard!

Great game all around, I really like the "make your choice" voice line in the dialogue music :D

Farm Dog by Trypants 2022-04-13T22:53:29Z

Fun game, was enjoyable trying to come up with the best meta for which upgrades to pick :D The upgrade window popping up without warning is a bit jarring and I picked up a couple of upgrades I didn't want to. Great graphics and music as well!

Mow Bot by Seng 2022-04-09T18:30:13Z

Nice work, love to see entries done without a general purpose engine (like I used to in the good old days :D)! I think a couple of smaller maps in the beginning could have been nice to ease into the mechanics but other than that I enjoyed optimizing my routes :D

Make a Manga Series but It's a Fishing Game by MayChant 2022-04-09T22:22:49Z

Love the idea! I wound up accidentally closing the fish menu often so a dedicated key might have helped me. Great job with personifying (fishifying?) the manga aspects into fish :D

Untitled Arrow Game by Daniel Mak 2022-04-09T18:04:45Z

Neat game, really appreciate the accessibility options! Those damn orange arrow got me every time though :D Managed to block one once and then the next one sniped me instantly, a certain fish lady would be proud.

Mighty Crossroad by hmightypirate 2022-04-09T22:47:04Z

Nice game, having to replace multiple tiles at once really makes it interesting! I had an issue where the sounds came only from the left but the sounds themselves were fun :D

The Saga of Thorbjorn Olafsson by kr0s 2022-04-09T17:45:41Z

Neat twist on the autorunner formula! I was a bit confused about the goal but after a couple of tries I could figure it out :D

Death is The End by Wren Erickson 2022-04-16T12:45:18Z

Nice game, I like the pacing of the story, really fitting for an LD experience! I'm not great at the gameplay but was able to lose in level 4 (and just barely got past 3, see below :D). Wish I could have used/remapped to arrow keys as WASD is a bit difficult for me personally. Looks great and well polished as well!

Extremely Exteme Sports by kuviman 2022-04-12T21:41:50Z

Had a couple of people from our team and a random person (hi Kimo if you see this :D) playing and had a great time! The emote communication was just the right blend of restrictive and expressive, reminded me of Journey in a way. Only wish you could emote while fallen from the sidelines to react when spectating (either to other fallen or to surviving ones as well). Great entry!

Snooze by DrSomma 2022-04-15T19:09:53Z

Solid platformer! I like the squeezing on the jumps, really makes the character feel more alive. Nice to have the times in the levels to improve for replayability, though many levels are dictated by the cycles of moving platforms so there's limited space to optimize. The music is nice as well! Oh, and in the tutorial I pressed R when I saw the tutorial text like a dummy :D

Here's the times I got:

snooze_times.png

I Know What You Did Last Ludum Dare! by TentacleMax 2022-04-09T20:29:33Z

Neat game, I'm so bad at micromanaging I ended up losing fast every attempt :D

I had an issue where there was two fullscreen buttons overlaid on top of each other where one worked properly and the one went fullscreen but the game window remained tiny:

fullscreen.pnmg.png

Slime Showdown by ToC 2022-04-13T22:36:58Z

Nice game, very well balanced! I went for a full melee+familiar stack build and got the boss down to 11% HP on my second attempt :D The pixel art is super cute and well done as well, all around a great well rounded entry!

Mr.Filton Deluxe by DS Nahogara 2022-04-09T22:07:08Z

Love the concept! Not sure what I did but the game felt a bit easy after I flooded the game area with cheap drawnings :D

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-09T17:04:48Z

Very atmospheric, I know it sounds specific but it reminds me of the early 2000s Mindstorms Lego games that had for a very desolate mood in space (might have something to do with the old-school UI, I love it :D). Great entry in general with snappy gameplay and great art/sound direction!

DeePenguin Boreal Offensive by BruyĂšre Alice 2022-04-12T22:56:43Z

Loved the art and the music, especially the varied penguins! But like many others I also broke the game by upgrading the popsicle stands early and destroying all enemies off-screen. In addition to balancing the upgrade prices (like @100th-coin's proposal which I think is a great start) I'd enjoy if the towers were introduced more gradually instead of allowing the player so you couldn't place them all at once at the start.

I like that the waves come on timer and not a button as it allows you to just lean back and watch your penguin towers take care of the enemies :D I think this is a very promising base for a game which would just need some patches to the balance.

1 Man 6 Bullets by Raphaeltan 2022-04-15T14:16:15Z

Great entry! I had some audio dropping in the web build (not sure if you can adjust audio buffer size from Godot, that at least helped for me with issues with FMOD/Unity Web builds) but the Windows build worked flawlessly. The gameplay is really fun and tactical!

In the beginning I focused mostly on lining up combos but after a while started to focus too much on running after my bullets which detracted a bit from the fun for me. Probably a personal issue but might want to see if other people feel this way for potential future design decisions :D

The graphics, UI, and intro are just flawless, I could see this being published by Devolver in the future :D

1 Man 6 Bullets by Raphaeltan 2022-04-15T15:09:08Z

@raphaeltan Oh that sounds like a great fix to the issue I had with it, way to make a slightly annoying mechanic into a badass one :D Will definitely try it out when the new version is out!

X-1 - A Game About a Robot Shutting Down by Billnotic 2022-04-16T15:19:15Z

Nice platformer, feels very moody! Thanks for the alternative camera, I definitely like the _idea_ of the segmented camera but it felt like the levels weren't built around it which caused some awkward transitions. The gameplay is smooth and platforming feels good, background music is nice as well :D Wish it would have supported arrow keys in addition to WASD (or bindable, I feel like I leave this comment on almost every platformer lately :D). Nice work!

X-1 - A Game About a Robot Shutting Down by Billnotic 2022-04-17T18:26:37Z

@billnotic No worries! Just something to consider for next time, hopefully it's not too bad in Construct :D in Unity I just do `Input.GetKey(KeyCode.A) || Input.GetKey(KeyCode.Left)` for low effort dual controls. And yea the dynamic low-pass effect is super cool!

Tactical Ghosts: The Impification by SnowyCocoon 2022-04-06T22:40:51Z

Great entry! I really loved the cuts to the timer between the levels, it really highlights the urgency in the game.

!> Also I took until the pawn promotion to release it was about chess rules :D

WHEN NANA SAYS IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL by alyd asmar 2022-04-16T11:54:51Z

[SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD]

I knew I had to play this the moment I saw who was involved in making it, SANCTITY Compliant Yggdrasil Worldship was one of my favorite entries last year that left me shook for a good while :D Happy to see more unconventional gameplay but this time in an extremely wholesome package, I was grinning from start to end with this one! The art is amazing and I love how the room overview contains the elements from the actual game. I was a bit suspicious of how a timer would work with a text-based game but it really did for me (nice to have the accessibility options though!). Every time I was able to use an excuse felt like an achievement from a gameplay standpoint and the voice acting and alternative music make it even better! The whole combination of music, art, and varied design (like finding an "VISIBLE ITEM.txt" vs finding "Discover something.txt" that turns into an item) got me more immersed than any traditional video game in a while, really a great experience!

RIG WRECKENING by WhyNot 2022-04-15T23:14:50Z

Great looking game! The gameplay is nice and frantic with the whole level breaking down on you, on my first run I focused too much on the turrets and couldn't get a good score but by prioritizing getting coins I managed to do a lot better :D

The Inevitable Sinking by Alpha Wolf Studios 2022-04-06T22:25:28Z

Starts off a bit slow but gets surprisingly engaging with when the screen gets full of enemies :D I'm not sure what I lost to in end though. Nice work!

Space Ninja by mhorth 2022-04-10T12:40:43Z

Great presentation, love everything about the UI like the hover animations and the real-time leaderboard position is just straight up genius! Like others in the comments I independently discovered the "wiggle your mouse on the top" cheese and was able to secure the 9th spot in the leaderboards before my RSI caught up to me :D Also the zoom animation into the comet was great, wish the shockwave would have destroyed all the asteroids on contact for a bit of extra punch maybe.

The audio design was nice, maybe a bit of variation for the basic "asteroid hit" sound might have been nice, but good call with mixing it low as that sound is playing _all the time_ due to the gameplay. The comet hit sounds are perfect, love the pitching up and the satisfying final WWRROOOMP.

> Disclaimer: we are not responsible for wrist injuries sustained by prolonged rapid slashing. Slice responsibly.

Narrator: He did not.

(oh also is "output enable" an EE reference, hobbyist FPGA enjoyer here :D)

EDIT: Also shame about the WebGL build, but I understand the pain, we had a ton of issues with it too due to making a rhythm game using FMOD so there was a ton of audio stuttering/crackling/latency issues on the web. Almost ended up not shipping it myself either.

HANG UP! by Jesse J. Jones 2022-04-15T15:08:23Z

Great graphics and voice acting! The core gameplay loop also surprisingly tense, the variety of characters kept the gameplay fresh. Not sure if I just imagined it but it seemed like the words were a bit different between the characters (eg. the dog felt like it always gave me 4 letter words) but that might just be RNG :D

RIITA by wobs 2022-04-07T03:58:28Z

@everyone Thanks for the feedback and kind words!

@dirkinz I was actually just fixing some stuff up for a WebGL port and after seeing this I added a full-screen button now updated in the new Windows build!

RIITA by wobs 2022-04-11T06:45:47Z

@wendel-scardua Yes! There is a real "MMO" battle going on between the sides :D

RIITA by wobs 2022-04-12T20:16:22Z

@haayaargh Thanks for the stream, it was great! Oh yea I forgot to mention I did in fact implement remappable binds as a post-jam feature (due to itch.io supporting only one web build it's in the main one, but there's a notice not to use them before reviewing for the original experience :D). So now you can really play with the Frets on Fire F keys for the style points :D

The Ultimate Martian Roulette by HaaYaargh 2022-04-09T21:06:08Z

That's one dark take on the theme :D As a game the RNG was a bit rough but the presentation was very polished!

Floodgrid by Huntrt 2022-04-15T19:36:27Z

Neat game, I like the way the water spreads over time, reminds me of some cellular automata (well I suppose in a way it is :D). I found a minor issue that teleporting on a coin doesn't collect it. Thanks for the remappable keys, my left hand is pretty bad so I really appreciate it!

Unfinished Valley by stochastic 2022-04-09T20:06:17Z

Moody entry! I haven't played any farming games so it took a while to realize why my potato wasn't growing after I just plopped it into a hole but after getting the hang of it I had a nice time :D Using space for interactions was a bit awkward for me as I was used to the Z/C controls from the gameplay.

Gobling Game by lolopupka 2022-04-09T20:44:40Z

Nice game, love the Gobling :D I also enjoyed the biking minigame!

The Gallows by Burn Tree 2022-04-09T17:33:12Z

Wow that really did make me feel something. Love the art and music! (minor note but I noticed the web build had "Development Mode" in the bottom right, I think you can turn that off from the build settings)

Silentio by Emulization 2022-04-16T10:20:52Z

Nice another rhythm game! Love the concept of playing while moving the character but would have liked to be able to turn the camera with Q/E using the left hand only. The hit timing seemed a bit punishing for me (might also be just my A/V sync :D) in a way that if I was a millisecond late to the beat it'd reject my hit. I really like the L+D+U+R flourishes, never seen something like that before and it really adds to the variety!

Also the art/music/sounds are great and really work together to build a very grounded mood, great work!

MOUSE&CAT by SethNerd 2022-04-12T22:26:27Z

Great concept and solid aesthetic! The UI was bit confusing with buying being separate from placing, maybe they could have been combined into one? Oh and the music was great as well, loved the mouse ad libs in there :D

Wally's Jump by Legofan0807 2022-04-16T12:19:13Z

Neat game, I appreciate the variation in the areas! Only wish I could have used arrow keys (or rebind my keys to them) due to my left wrist not being 100% :D Nice work on graphics and audio as well!

Kinderkaos by Gravityflip 2022-04-09T22:40:52Z

That's one frantic game, wish I had a run button to get to everything :D The deadpan downed kids (didn't think I'd write that today :D) really make it less frustrating when you inevitably lose track of them. Great soundtrack as well!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

The Cult of the Ancient One by someone 2022-10-14T22:08:15Z

Took a while to understand what's going on here but after a while it started to make sense. I couldn't get the indoctrination chair to work but managed to get up to 27.6% statue progress regardless. The controls felt a bit awkward at first but were good after I got up to speed, I like being able to see the lines indicating what the cultists (or chickens :D) are about to do. Ah yea I also played the embedded build and it worked flawlessly, great work all in all!

Fog Forest by Tero Pulkkinen 2022-10-14T10:53:03Z

I think I recognize that bird :D it's part of my FBX importer test case dataset! Nice work on the technical aspects, appreciate anyone doing custom 3D stuff these days (even I don't for LD anymore..)

Chromo Trigger by LandoSystems 2022-10-06T23:44:35Z

The core gameplay is crazy fun! Love the stakes on taking damage as you don't lose all your progress but all crystals equally, feels totally fair and can't be cheesed by rushing into enemies collecting the right crystals. Gameplay-wise the transformation into the powerful mode feels so good. Stellar voice acting with funny dialogue, great music as well (love the separate themes and especially the combined one!), great work everyone I really enjoyed this!

Don't press this buzzer by eptwalabha 2022-10-14T19:50:44Z

Funny game, nice ideas with the further levels :D Minor nitpick but for timers like that I'd recommend trying to format the string with fixed amount of decimals (like 0.10 vs 0.1), not sure how this is done in Godot. Very impressive entry for something made in one day, got a couple of chuckles out of me!

Are We There Yet? by CameronPenner 2022-10-08T23:19:16Z

This is easily the funniest interpretation of the theme I've seen so far, the voice acting had me cracking up the whole way. Making it THERE was super stressful, like others have mentioned I found the controls initially quite confusing, maybe some feedback for when you do the right motion in combos would help (like a swoosh or a sound effect), it's a bit hard to tell if something registered or not. Very solid design with the loss mechanic, where the errands don't insta-kill you after a timeout but make your steering increasingly unstable. Ah and the art even though simple is very nice as well (love the "son" hat :D)!

server.vasm by IcyLava 2022-10-08T14:47:33Z

Interesting combination of assembly and scratch :D I think Human Resource Machine did something similar. The tasks had a good progression in difficulty, hard to say how it would be for a non-programmer. I had some UI hiccups like text boxes not working or dragging not registering sometimes. Using the time limit as an instruction limit is quite clever (especially with the overclocking in the last task :D). The sound design works great as well!

Tentris by bentglasstube 2022-10-14T18:48:30Z

Interesting take on Tetris! The scanline really alters your strategy more profoundly than I thought it would. Thanks for sharing the details on the production, always appreciate people using a custom engine (I swear I'm going to return to it one day for LD :D), maybe only comment on that would be to get rid of the default Emscripten frame and doing something a bit more minimal. Also loved having multiple music tracks to choose from (wonder what those HW synths were!), they're all good jams (FEAR maybe being my top pick).

Oh yea also on a meta-LD tip, I see that you're pretty low on ratings even having rated over 20 games, the new (well, years old) "Smart Balance" score has a large weight on comments, so if you want to receive scores in the end I recommend leaving a couple more comments to get to 20 reviews!

Rain Systems by thebmxeur 2022-10-06T01:09:07Z

Ahhhhh getting stuck in a 10 second boot loop, if that's not the most hellish interpretation of the theme I don't know what is :D Fun puzzle, managed to complete it after some head scratching.

!> The file related commands confused me for a long time as I assumed that they were necessary. Otherwise very solid and realistic diagnostic process, great game!

Cook'n'Slash! by Nikolay Zapolnov 2022-10-08T14:10:23Z

Very well produced game, all the pieces flow into each other very professionally. The general concept is genius, I love the idea of shoveling the remains of enemies into a pan :D Like some others I found the fork to be a bit too unforgiving which made it a bit frustrating to carry the ingredients into the pan. Also I hit a bug where the music would sometimes play doubled on itself. Other than that I didn't have issues, voice acting was a great addition as well! (Also *OY?* y'all based in Finland? :D)

Le Petit Jardin by auxC 2022-10-03T23:16:04Z

Wow what a mood! The art is gorgeous and the dense grass looks amazing. Great options to just mess around with the world and see what happens. I also appreciate not having to be in a hurry to micromanage tasks but can just soak in the atmosphere!

Exorcist Patrol by PeachTreeOath 2022-10-12T14:10:37Z

What a great game!

First off the UI design is just beautiful! Having two character timelines with the symbols instantly recognizable as the two characters was super easy to understand (also due to the great character designs + the color coding!). The background/notch colors being inverted on them looks really nice and coherent. Dragging cards into the timeline is snappy and I like how you can drag them back out to read more about them. And finally having the match as a timer and lighting up at the end, just gorgeous!

Gameplay itself is great, the spells feel different and it's fun to try to figure out combinations of them. All the spells feel very tactile and physical and seeing them bounce the enemy around just feels good from a gameplay perspective. (also I like how some of the spells are possibly references to other games, Magic Missile from D&D, Landslide / Diamond Dust from FF).

In general the art also looks great, love the varied boss designs and the cover art is cute as heck. I don't think I have any constructive feedback, I could just see this being expanded with more varied bosses from a gameplay standpoint (like shielded from a direction, doing counter-attacks, etc), but the core works extremely well, great work!

Ultimate Chill Home by MatLab 2022-10-14T22:36:10Z

Interesting experience, I ended up violating the rule of chill and building myself a parkour course for the immersion mode. Like for @stone-tape-studios on my first attempt immersion mode didn't work, but it worked just fine after I restarted the game. The vibe is delightfully absurd with the spiritual quotes about the objects (some AI text-to-speech API I guess?) and the dithered pixel art textures look amazing. I think the chill radio didn't work for me as there was no music (unless that's where the wind ambiance comes from). All in all great experience and nice to play something completely different!

Flameout by triggthediscovery 2022-10-12T14:22:29Z

Now that's some aggressive fires :D The core gameplay works fine but I hit the same things some others in the comments where sometimes in level 2 the fires spawn on top of you and the aiming being a bit off from the mouse.

Also hats off for building the game in JS+WebGL with no engine, not even THREE.js, the initial load is super fast!

Watch Out by 100th_Coin 2022-10-04T00:02:09Z

Oh damn what an entry, real trip through the fourth dimension (still waiting on Miegakure to be released :D). The art and voice acting are super fun, love the little details like the synchronized clock on the hat and the background progression! The puzzles were a great as well, some of the trial and error got a bit scary especially late in a level but managed to sweat through it, the puzzles were really nice in general. I learned that "peeking" in the time dimension by quickly while standing on a platform was the safest, not sure if this was intentional or not. One option would be to show ghost blocks of what's going to change when getting near a threshold, but that would alter the difficulty curve quite a bit (and maybe make the whole thing a lot more messy?).

Anyways incredible execution, everything is super slick and well presented!

Game Name by Strega 2022-10-06T20:28:38Z

Great concept, love how the performance in the minigames effects the results in the end :D I was worried that this theme would spawn a ton of 10 second minigame games but they weren't that common in the end and this one particularly was very well executed, the games flow well into each other and don't feel like jarring cuts. I couldn't quite figure out what to do in the sleeping minigame (I suppose I have the same issue irl :D). Art and music are also super well executed, transitions and game feel completely on point as well, superb work everyone!

Lavender Crush by jhandsy 2022-10-08T21:11:46Z

Nice game, sadly I wasn't able to beat it, I managed to damage all bosses though! I like the idea of puzzle bosses and these flowed super well together. Art is excellent and music is great as well!

EX SOMNIUM by GuitarBro 2022-10-05T00:34:50Z

Really cool brutalist architecture! The level/puzzle design was clever though the timings were maybe a tad too tight for my taste. I think I was able to soft-lock myself on my first attempt, but managed to finish it on my second attempt. Music and visuals were on point to create the the mood, great work!

EX SOMNIUM by GuitarBro 2022-10-05T00:58:07Z

@guitarbro Ah yes now I tried it again and got unstuck, it was due to not understanding the interactable objects, maybe they could have been taught to the player in an unavoidable way beforehand? Anyways sorry for the bogus report :D

Bushland Savescum by jandourek 2022-10-14T20:14:25Z

Yoo this is very close to one of my original ideas for this theme! Great to see it executed (and way better than I could have :D)! The level design is well balanced and has good progression and the shortcut is a great idea in case you get soft-locked. Didn't expect an intro with some story and even voice acting! Kinda unfair to go from my original pitch but a fun thing you could do with autosaves is to replay the final (perfect!) run at the end, though that's technically very difficult and the gimmick is probably not worth the effort :D Anyways had a lot of fun with this game, graphics and sounds are great as well!

Temple of the lost Mask by Timbaleek 2022-10-03T23:08:43Z

Nice game, the in game tutorial was fun and much appreciated! Random thing I like the danger squares where the enemies are going to spawn/jump. Swapping the weapon was very confusing at first as I got the one I already had and it kept dropping the same thing which made me think there was a bug from preventing me from picking it up. After understanding that it made perfect sense. Nice difficulty ramp as well.

Stella Brown and the Curse of the Grocery Witch by Iamsodarncool 2022-10-08T23:39:19Z

Man what a strong start with the voice acted cutscene! I had to run the game twice to see both endings as well :D The music and visuals during switching work super well. I think platforming wise the jumps into the other realm were pretty annoying without any visible timer when it'll switch (thankfully the enemies didn't do damage, otherwise it would have been super frustrating :D). Insanely cohesive project for only 72 hours, great work everyone!

Big Block Mode by UnitedFailures 2022-10-14T11:08:15Z

Cool concept, amazing how many takes on Tetris people are able to come up with! Love the interplay between the two formats. About the design, I think it might be possible to circumvent the big blocks by just playing super slow, but I might be missing something about scoring or so (?), also using mouse was too weird for me so I just let the big blocks stay in the order they were created. But those aside I had a really good time, the game got me good when I realized that the big blocks don't fall apart on an edge but stay as one big chunk :D Also great WebGL template, love seeing people pay attention to that!

Avery Ten 2ndth: Savior of Cleveland by CaptainDreamcast 2022-10-14T21:46:26Z

Knew I had to play this the moment I saw the title, ended up being the best Clevelike I've ever played. The story is great (do I see a bit of Barkley Gaiden influence in there hmm), got some good laughs out of me. Thanks for giving me 100 lives even though I ended up noclipping out of bounds at like 93 lives and cruised the rest of the way to the end.. actually I'm still not sure if that's a bug or not

Frantic Belt by wheybags 2022-10-04T21:55:42Z

Nice game, love this kind of factory/optimization games, really nice touch with the Zachtronics style histogram in the end! I feel like the balance is a bit skewed as you can't accumulate a *ton* of points during the stage where you need to build green 1x1 squares as I think you get points per returned object, so 4x the points vs the final stage for example. But yea I had fun and on my third attempt I managed to get a reasonable score (at least for the current competition :D)

bÀbÀböx X by Kultisti 2022-10-07T00:09:06Z

Great game, every pixel is oozing with style! The controls cycling in the tutorial is such a nice touch. The core gameplay works great, I got stuck playing this for like an hour while idling in voice chat, the core loop is simple enough that you don't need to actively think about it but it's so engaging that you want to keep playing it. The only issue I had was that at first I was super confused about the hearts (I thought they were a part of the map as they were pretty aligned to the grid so I tried to throw boxes to get to them but it didn't work out :D). Music and sounds were on point too, really fitting to the mood. Haven't heard of this kultisti cult people are talking about but consider me signed up :eye:

Infamous Heists by R2D48 2022-10-08T14:18:08Z

Creative use of RenPy, and even though the music is quite simple it *slaps*, both themes work great for their purpose! Wish there was a bit more options to the encounters but all in all I had a good experience :D

10S-Assembler by ShaggyFox 2022-10-15T00:00:58Z

Never knew that playing as a pick&place machine would be so much fun :D it's surprisingly engaging to match the components to their footprints! The music and sounds are great and visually it's solid as well, love those cursed traces in the PCBs! Here's my best attempt:

10 Second Mixtape by Scott Steffes 2022-10-05T18:05:41Z

Oh nice, another collaborative game, loved the art gallery from last time! Not sure if not having any quantization is good or not :D it really keeps the handmade feel for the songs. Great aesthetic and UI design as well!

Instacrime by Jammin 2022-10-12T12:36:35Z

Now that's an unique entry, love the concept! Was able to figure out the game after maybe 5 or so loops but without brute forcing, the puzzles were just hard enough for me to solve (and I'm not known for perception skills :D) so I'd say it's quite well balanced. The art looks great and the music is very fitting as well!

I think there's some Godot-related issue where it loads the pictures when you advance and the music stutters for a while, it doesn't happen on further replays, not sure if there's some way to preload these. Also with the theme it seems like many are struggling with the same thing where it hinders some aspect of the gameplay, for me I didn't mind it as it felt something like a "stories" type feature which are naturally timed.

Oh yea and the scenario writing was really good as well, all the posts felt natural and the mystery didn't feel ham-fisted in there, great work all :D

Every ten seconds, the game skips... by davidsheadgames 2022-10-14T12:22:29Z

Great entry, feels very consistent! Love how the dialogues were also games you had to complete in 10 seconds. All the levels have clear goals and are doable after a couple of attempts, well balanced in that regard. Also got a good chuckle dying to the boss and laying there in silence for the remainder of the time :D Can't really give any constructive criticism, it's a very coherent and tight package! (I even like the shooting mechanics that many other comments seem to lament)

The Diamond Heist by Antsa 2022-10-04T22:30:40Z

Neat game, points for using a custom game engine, always makes me want to go back to that :D The combination of turn based movement and time was a bit strange as I managed to rush through most levels before the 10 second mark. Nice level design, varied challenges and had to think how to optimally use my keys, great work!

Old Man VS. The Internet by upcharlie 2022-10-12T12:12:59Z

Super hectic meme-addled rampage you have made :D I like how you made the enemies behave differently so you have to plan a bit. I managed to beat the game by kiting everything running around the map and only hitting the small Walters. The music is also actually good in addition to being packed with so many meme sounds, good work!

Baseball of Max Stress by snesgaard 2022-10-08T22:18:11Z

Fun game, the pixel art is very expressive! First I tried going with a cheese-strategy where I smash up and down fast every time there's no tomatoes coming up but that didn't work at high speeds. After a couple of tries I got into a zen-like state reading the patterns where to hit. Sometimes I felt like the hitboxes were a bit too lenient on the tomatoes where I hit them with the same hit that hit a baseball. Anyways I had fun with this one, here's my score :D (Edit: Turns out I matched the developer record from an earlier comment)

baseball_score.png

Baseball of Max Stress by snesgaard 2022-10-09T20:11:44Z

@snesgaard Good idea! Another option would be to bias a bit to the players favor and make it so that one hit can only "eat" one projectile and then prefer the baseballs. So if there's a ball and a tomato in the hitbox you'd consider the baseball the only thing you hit. You could probably do both options at the same time.

Phase Snake by lootgrounds 2022-10-07T12:38:27Z

Very juicy transitions and a lot of fun to play! The split modes complement each other very well and I like the ability to sacrifice the yellow parts to remove enemies, excellent game design all around. I found one "exploit" where you can try to find a safe corner and just spin in a circle until the enemy phase is over which can make levels without the bullets quite easy. Also not really related to the game but the preview picture / thumbnail looks great!

Lys by VPhyre 2022-10-09T01:42:31Z

Great looking art and I like having a story to drive the game! The gameplay started off straightforward but got a bit confusing for me, I managed to finish the game by almost randomly clicking mirrors and crystals in the approximate direction I wanted to go. I really like the idea of combining colors though!

Carton Carrier by dimlight 2022-10-05T22:22:28Z

Oh that's a great game, very fun to play! The randomness of building was frustrating at first but after learning to speed-discard pieces it got easier and I finished the game on my third attempt. Had a ton of fun seeing what kind of wacky cars I was able to build (and how some of them self destructed :D), super well done!

Edit: Oh, minor bug: When the screen fades to black it doesn't fill the whole screen with resolutions higher than 1080p I think, probably need to set the canvas scaling settings to Expand or something in Unity, here's 1440p in my case:

The pond & the stars by Chocolat-Endive 2022-10-09T00:38:34Z

What an experience, definitely one of my favorites from this jam! I'm usually not a fan of fishing (mini)games but this was truly something else, I was casting my rod with great anticipation of what I will find next. Starting off casually (but a bit off) you really nailed the feeling of slowly unraveling the foundation of reality itself. When I got to the last stage all I could do was stare at it for a moment.

The soundtrack and the painterly style work really well to create the setting, and the tactical writing is very well executed as well. I had a single technical issue where I would start fishing before closing the image of the previous one which was a bit confusing but a minor annoyance at worst. Beautiful game!

Under Pressure by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2022-10-14T21:26:36Z

Whew that's one polished game! Love the details like the 3D main menu and the loading screen icon! The 10 second concept caught me off guard but plays well with the stealth, nothing better than trying to hold in a fart to stay hidden :D There was a couple of annoying deaths where shattered glass blocked my way but otherwise I didn't hit any real issues.

Space Hourglass by PatteDeCanaard 2022-10-08T12:50:45Z

Great game, had fun micromanaging the little guys! My strategy ended up being to have everyone else defending (and upgraded to be very good at defending, and a bit of speed), and then my first guy just max speed/grappling gathering upgrade points for everyone :D Music and graphics were really on point as well!

Base Clock by Malai 2022-10-14T12:54:26Z

Nice metroidvania experience, was able to collect all the orbs! The level design is great, it feels expansive but not overwhelming. The music and sounds really tie in to the atmosphere with the art, it feels very cohesive. At first I thought the game was incredibly hard (do I really need to master how to do double dash jumps and run to checkpoints with 0.1s to spare, I really had to work for those first 7 orbs :D), then I moved the game to my other monitor (60Hz) and the dash was twice as long and I could beat the rest of the game with ease.

So initially I would have asked for a "retry" button to teleport you back to the last checkpoint as the game was so hard but I don't think I would have needed it when it works properly. So I'd say the only real issue I had was that the game didn't work properly at higher refresh rates (I know it can be difficult to test during a jam, don't worry about it! (my game is probably pretty broken on an ultrawide as I don't have one too :D) ). Anyways great work, also love the main character and the animations! (Oh also also, the hexadecimal clock was super smart, it is still 10\* seconds (\* base 16) )

TOOT TOOT by Quackqack 2022-10-14T22:48:09Z

Cool rhythm game input method, took a while to wrap my head around it but after a while it got better. The sound and art is all well done, very polished entry! Wish there was more songs than the first one and GOD mode (I want to see a video of someone playing that properly :D).

What's the rules? by Pusheeneiro 2022-10-11T14:46:08Z

Fond memories of flash games of olden times. Some of the minigames were really nice and the difficulty ramp-up from the beginning is well executed! The minimal music fits the aesthetic well and adds to the experience. Check below for a spoiler'd thoughts of each for as far as I got:

!> - **power:** great introduction to the game, symbolic as well !> - **heart:** good ramp up while keeping it simple !> - **lightbulb:** love the visual design of this one, also a good ramp up having to do different things !> - **plane:** first quick paced one, just enough time for me to react so well timed for me !> - **balloons:** the first balloons fly out a bit too fast for me (still picking up the thumb tack), also not sure if by design but if you let go of the tack you can't pick it back up !> - **vegetables:** great puzzle, got it on my second try, perfect breather from time sensitive things on later playthroughs !> - **basketball:** love the concept but the physics are a bit wonky for me, I managed to beat it only by cheating and dragging the ball !> - **watch:** first I tried to wait for the timeout, then realized the solution, very Impossible Game -esque, love it! !> - **bee:** neat arrangement puzzle, got the solution on my first attempt, very natural order of things !> - **hourglass:** this was the timeout one then, glad my guess was validated in a later level :D !> - **owl:** I love this one! not sure what it is but the way you drag it out of screen is so cool to me !> - **maze:** another classic subversion of the problem, my only issue is that the mouse is so loud it breaks my ears !> - **animals:** took a bit of thinking but a very solid puzzle, nice to execute afterwards !> - **www:** couldn't solve this one :( !> !> Also I can't believe I got rickrolled by a game description, gg :D

Magical bombs to relax/defuse to by Sethios 2022-10-10T17:01:14Z

Love the aesthetic! The gameplay seemed very overwhelming at first but studying the rules and making little mnemonics for myself was great "star: neutralize with opposite, void is void, ice/telluric the opposite goes to void (with telluric=fireish)". The symbols were a bit hard to remember for me but still doable, also the cast amount being in order of the folders helped a lot (wonder if this was by design, if so I appreciate it :D). I hit a bug where sometimes the symbols would spawn under the timer so I couldn't click them and then at level 30 nothing spawned until I lost.

I wonder if the "levels" were at least partially hand crafted. The difficulty progression was really well done and it seemed to throw these interesting levels at you sometimes, it felt better than just random levels (or if it's random levels I just got lucky :D). The art and music were both great, actually surprisingly chill to play after you get used to the rules!

Hyper V-Ball by Mooptychunk 2022-10-14T23:20:29Z

Now that's a polished game! The controls are hard at first but it's very satisfying to learn new techniques, managed to beat the AI on my second attempt. Only complaint is that the ball expiration sound is mixed too loud, especially infuriating when I take a loss of two points in a round :D

HydroRobia by JoeShanahan 2022-10-11T16:06:43Z

Very well crafted and polished whole! Love all the little menu details like the instructions, data reset button mashing, level select (allowing you to skip levels is great for jams!). Extra points for everything being clearly keyboard accessible, I really should do that in the future. In-game I really appreciate having a platforming shadow right under you and the outro is cute as all heck :D Having a fast-forward button is really smart, wish many games I played here would have had that.

Like others have mentioned the controls are a bit heavy/awkward making it a bit hard to do precise movement. I had a rigid body approach as well but went with direct velocity manipulation in `FixedUpdate()`, that way I have total control over acceleration, deceleration and gravity and am not left to the whims of the physics engine. It has it's own downsides so I haven't really figured it out either, may we one day find a perfect way to control the player in Unity :D

The gameplay itself was great, great introductory levels and good ramp up from there. For me "Staircase" was easily the hardest map and I even initially skipped it, even after beating all the other levels it took me quite a few tries to get right (and even then I probably did an unintended solution with jumping from a stacked box on the middle of the map :D). Also pacing wise maybe some lighter platforming levels could have been between the hard puzzles to give the players a bit of time to breathe.

With presentation I feel like you have nailed a very cohesive art style, it all works together super well! The main character is well modeled/animated and even with pre-made level assets the color scheme works super well. Visually I really like the in-game key indicators and the MAX level line, they don't look as jarring as they could

On a small meta-tip I recommend leaving more comments for people as that's what the new Ludum Dare Smart algorithm favors, that way you could get some more players which this game 100% deserves!

HydroRobia by JoeShanahan 2022-10-11T22:06:00Z

@joeshanahan Yea didn't really mean that you wouldn't use `FixedUpdate` as that's the right place to do anything physics related! More like that I literally do something like (with custom, but very fast, acceleration though):

```cs void FixedUpdate() { Vector3 velocity = rigidBody.velocity;
// Not really but you get the idea :D if (Input.GetKey(KeyCode.Left)) velocity.x = -10f;
rigidBody.velocity = velocity; } ```
That way I can ignore all level geometry and forces etc. not sure if this is the usual way to do it (or if you're even using it :D). I'm just happy it works more consistently than trying to apply forces which is what I did in the past. Though I can see it breaking horrendously if you have physics objects you collide against as then you'll push them with near-infinite force. Like I said it's still under R&D for me too!
Rabbit Help Rabbit by JoshuaRabbit 2022-10-12T14:33:24Z
Fun game, I like that there's a bit of story between the levels. Even though pretty simple it adds a lot of life to the game! Switching the powers is a fun way to keep the game fresh, I like how only one has the healing, it's well balanced. I played with modest attack speed at first and the difficulty felt right but later realized you can spam the attack very fast and the game got maybe a bit easy, could have maybe had a bit slower attack for that. The drawings looks great and the voiced sounds are fun (and funny :D)! (Also happened to check through your games and saw that you have a serious rabbit theme going on, cool!)
Potion Panic! by dodori 2022-10-09T01:53:43Z
Interesting take on the theme. Design wise I like the holding slot (though if the potions stack (which I'm not sure if they do :D) I'm not sure when you'd want to use it), I kept a health potion there usually. The visual tutorial is super cool!
Neon Speed Gauntlet by Empty Set 2022-10-10T15:56:19Z
Neat, another platformer with a dash mechanic :D I closed the game before writing the comment but I had the first two stages completed with 1xxx and 2xxx scores. I couldn't get through the third one after many attempts as failing felt so punishing with the long 0/0/0 stats screen and the run-of-shame back to the level. I think a quick restart button would have made it less frustrating. Also not sure if you had a small one but I recommend having a bit of "coyote time" where you can jump after falling off a platform, it makes the game feel less punishing for small mistakes.
All-in-all solid entry, even through a bit much to run through on every attempt I like the idea of having a hub world. Well done with balancing the lasers by taking away time and not insta-killing you. I especially like the color scheme changes having an effect on the timers, nice detail on that!
Fall Girl by civmaniac 2022-10-14T23:40:51Z
I like how the instructions are graffiti on the wall. The obstacles are very fun, I wasn't expecting the bullets to collide with the birds :D The controls work fine except I wish jumping would cancel cleaning, I got hit many times as I was too slow to let go of E. Graphics are nice and very readable from a gameplay standpoint, very solid entry!
10 Seconds To Annoyance by zimny11 2022-10-04T22:57:00Z
Neat platformer with some funny details sprinkled in, I got unfortunately stuck on the fourth level already. I might just have an extra smooth brain but couldn't get it (I figured out the sussy blocks and saw the arrow back, but nowhere to go for the finish). Wish there was a restart button in a game like this but otherwise the game feels good to play, nice work!
10 Seconds To Annoyance by zimny11 2022-10-04T23:13:32Z
@zimny11 Ah thanks for the tip, got to the next level with some trial and error, but started losing my sanity on the next level. Tight time limit and troll levels are just a cruel combination :D Love the parallax background btw!
Every 10 seconds color will be changed by IzhVaryag 2022-10-06T20:33:27Z
Nice game, I really like the aesthetic! The swapping keeps you on your toes and you managed to get surprising depth with the limited design space you had, nice work!
Drum Dance Showdown by cyberfrank 2022-10-05T21:58:05Z
Oh man that's some excellent design! Love the soundtrack, very Discovery-esque at parts, mimicking a drum sequencer for dancing is very smart and the upcoming body part makes it much easier to know what to look out for. Only complaint was that I was wishing for some checkpoints at first but after getting better it was a nice challenge in an endless runner type way. Great entry!
Shock by Shadowcast 2022-10-09T17:17:45Z
Interesting concept, I like the way you slowly introduce new mechanics. The uniform design language with the charging buttons is very clever, especially for the retry button which didn't *need* to be one! I lost at the point where I unlocked the buffer due to lack of electricity and initially gave up, but decided to go for another attempt, and I'm glad I did. The game got a lot better after I had the option to stop worrying about clicking the shock button every 10 seconds. The story was also really interesting but unfortunately I missed some lines as the gameplay still required quite a lot of my attention (and sadly I couldn't read the logs after "beating" the game).
I tried to scroll but it was super slow for me on Chrome (like a couple of pixels every time I scroll), not sure how Unity handles it but at least in a custom engine browsers can report scrolling in different units (lines, pixels, pages) so might have something to do with that. Also balance-wise in the end I ended up relying on the buffer and just buying everything on cooldown after investing early in the resource gathering upgrades :D but that's probably pretty much intentional with the focus on the story.
In the end I'm really happy that I went back, really moody entry with great writing, super impressive for 30 hours!
Flip and Swap by WeAreDev 2022-10-05T23:07:15Z
Neat concept and some very cool level design! I feel like I was able to avoid a couple of puzzles with some tricky platforming but that's just a positive in my book :D
The Show Must Go On! đŸ„ by MEGA Marlon 2022-10-14T15:00:56Z
Never seen a rhythm game like this! Fun interaction with trying to stay in the same pace but bumping to the other characters. The tunes sound good and it's neat how it's all based on gameplay! Only issue I had was that I wish I could see my grades on the menu (and a minor issue with the timer wobbling, but might be due to the font choice or even Godot font rendering).
Clocktower by Voidsay 2022-10-14T23:02:00Z
Very aesthetic visual style! Falling down felt very punishing but with determination I made it up there after a dozen or so attempts (yea I'm not that good at 3D platforming :D). The constant ticking of the clock and the creepy guys staring at you formed a very menacing atmosphere.
DecaDare by Caladrius 2022-10-09T01:12:21Z
What a game, all the minigames are great! Like many others have said I think not repeating games too much would be better, though I did enjoy stumbling upon a new one during my third replay. The art and sound design is just excellent, also funny enough that I had to see the fail screen of every possible minigame (also cracked up on the MGR reference, I could hear "It has to be this way" in my head already :D). Also great work coordinating such a large team, it ain't easy! Also really appreciate crediting/having a QA team, you can definitely see that effort in the final product!
Wizard's Basement by Kongo 2022-10-09T00:58:21Z
Love the idea of carrying these lazy turret wizards and blocking enemies with slamming down a chair :D Solid design with trading off between having fixed "turrets" and closing portals, also good variation with the different status effects you can roll. Didn't hit any issues really so solid implementation as well, great work everyone!
Drunk Wizard by Nbrowning5 2022-10-04T23:04:42Z
Oh man having a game with all spells having 10 second cooldowns was one of the ideas I thought going with so it's great to see it realized, and you did a lot better job than I could have, the spells are so damn creative! The balance is just right where you feel overpowered but still vulnerable to attacks, a proper glass cannon like a wizard should be. Great work!
Storm Raider by spacecadet 2022-10-14T12:05:33Z
Neat puzzle-platformer with good level design! I think I had some bug that sometimes I couldn't pick up boxes (or had to try multiple times until it worked) but otherwise it seemed to work as intended. I really appreciate the escalation of the levels, I didn't get overwhelmed at any point and you managed to do many new things with the existing mechanics, great design!
House Of Desire by Noirox 2022-10-04T00:31:50Z
Neat game! The designs of different ghosts are full of personality and distinct, in general the artwork is very pleasing. I got stuck to the "Time shows you the way" part and sadly couldn't figure out how to continue over three attempts at the game (I suppose it has something to do with the time ghost :D). Oh and I also had the same issue as @thiefaine with the ldjam.com download, but the itch.io link worked just fine. Also all the music is great but a special shoutout to the "self conversation" track, it's so good!
Cult Of the ĐĄelestial Knight by SnappyPath 2022-10-09T00:50:20Z
Really like the way the "fights" are done, simple but works. The art and animations are top-notch, everything looks great! Like others have mentioned a restart button would have been appreciated. Managed to get through on my second attempt, well balanced!
10 Seconds Or Less by RTDMFN 2022-10-05T20:51:13Z
Solid foundation for a game! I think the camera could have been static as you can see the whole level anyways (well, with moving camera you can gauge the car movement behind the restaurant (though you could have a silhouette in that case :D ) ). The difficulty could ramp up a bit over time as well. Also great work with the graphics and audio as well!
Kangaroo Court by Celtican 2022-10-14T18:20:49Z
Great idea and the cases I was able to see were fun! Sadly I'm a bit too slow at reading for this game, if it was only the conversation I could do it, but reading the docket as well is just too much for my eyes. The presentation is also gorgeous: the art looks great and you get a lot done with those minimal wiggle animations! Music and sounds work well too, it's nice to have some speaking mumble. Anyways, wish I could have played more of this but great entry nonetheless!
Constellation by lord_blackheart 2022-10-08T23:53:33Z
Very beautiful art! I like the gameplay concept of finding constellations from the highlighted stars, feels very true to real life constellation spotting. Without the 10 second time limit I feel like it would make a relaxing game, but with the timer it's pretty stressful and fiddly with the book.
Accelerato by stewthepoo 2022-10-05T22:34:07Z
Love the wacky setting! I think I found a bug where if you mash jump in the air you can keep jumping in the air (basically fly :D) might be that I missed some mechanic and this is intended. The art itself is great as well!
Goop the Lab! by Adam Gallina 2022-10-09T00:13:31Z
Surprisingly deep design under the guise of a simple upgrade centric platformer! New abilities are introduced just at the right rate to keep it interesting and I really like that you can upgrade them. The way health is handled is genius, in addition to allowing for small mistakes it also gives you a bit longer time and sometimes it's useful for intentionally taking damage for faster movement. Only problem I can say is that I couldn't tell the difference between background and foreground (but later understood those to be vents, a hard problem to solve to make them look like you can pass through them but still interactable...).
Line Momentum by Itooh 2022-10-08T12:19:04Z
Really neat take on a rhythm game, the visualization fading away is genius it feels like when you're staring at a wall for long enough and the details start to fade away due to your visual system getting used to the stimulus. I had some technical issues though: The resolution seemed to be low full-screen on a 1440p monitor, I usually switch to full screen like this to avoid it:
```cs Screen.SetResolution(Screen.currentResolution.width, Screen.currentResolution.height, FullScreenMode.FullScreenWindow); ```

Also when making a rhythm game it's helpful include some kind of audio/input sync, my setup has quite a lot of audio latency that made playing very difficult as I have to hit the "wrong" times. Other than those issues though I love the concept and the progression of the music is amazing! Points for using WWise also, don't see that too often (I tried using fmod in our rhythm game last edition and it was *painful*, especially on the web)

BUN-hop by bqq 2022-10-05T23:27:06Z

Thank you everyone for the kind words and feedback! And double thanks to everyone for playing the game :D I'm happy that so many like the "drop" with the music and timer, it was a large part of my original idea for the game (well that along with a plot I'm sad was scrapped for time).

@moebiusmeow You are right about the velocity thing, I probably over tuned the acceleration a bit as I was afraid that small physics bumps would kill the velocity and game feel.

@waddle "Knowledge checkpoints" was exactly what I was going for! It's the reason there's no controls in the description for example (yea I know that's kind of cheesy way to do it, at least later there's some actions that wouldn't get spoiled by only controls!). I just tried to get the feeling of "whew I could have done that all along" if you replay earlier levels (or just restart the game)

@cowgummiboy I was debating whether to wall off that cliff or not but I decided to leave it in for some variety in levels but from what I've seen you're far from the only one stubbornly jumping off to the right :D

@fae-pdf Thank you so much for the extremely well thought out comment, I really lost it after seeing it :D I'm so happy that my vision could come through as I *really* was trying to condense the speedrun experience (weird movement techniques, breaking the "intended" flow of the level, etc) and you were able to put it in words better than I ever could! Also those are some great times, especially the last one, I know that one requires some tricky movement but is so satisfying to get right!

BUN-hop by bqq 2022-10-06T21:41:21Z

Thanks again for the feedback and comments, I really appreciate them all! Some further replies for comments I was able to come up with something:

@mrwarranty Sorry about your fingers :D

@thebmxeur Yea the controls are quite awkward on one hand, I was considering forcing it to arrow keys but I feel like that would have made a lot of people upset. I guess not teaching all the controls at once also makes it impossible for players to form informed decisions of what keys to us, as you don't want to re-learn earlier binds in the light of later combos you need to do.

@100th-coin Ahhhhh thanks a ton for the video, it's super useful for analyzing the design (also well played :D you managed to do an unintended skip at 7:50 to beat the 10 second time without knowing of the duck-dash). I agree that the players should have been taught the dash in the beginning, it always felt wrong to withhold keybinds from the player (the dash still works, players just don't know the key). Also there was the second part of the duck-dash tutorial that you missed where you can do duck-dash-jump to fly through obstacles (though the low-tech dialogue system makes it very easy to miss), I was wondering if I should have made that mandatory but I wanted to leave some harder-to-execute techniques as optional (that one is pretty bad on full-left-hand binds, see my reply above). Lots to learn from analyzing this, and congratulations on the sub-10s row also!

BUN-hop by bqq 2022-10-12T01:02:51Z

Thanks again for all the comments and feedback, I'm super happy about the general reception about the music and animation as those two are far from my usual skill set! Sorry again for the sparse replies but here we go:

@itooh Thanks, good to know my choices weren't way off! I was actually worried about the UX of the huge timer as sometimes the level obscures it and it's not detailed enough for speedrunning (ie. 0.0x is not visible) but it seems to work good enough, especially as the core game is about those 10sec increments shown by the crystal. Originally the crystal was just 3 UI sprites on the bottom left that got taken away every time you lot one, but my 2D art skills are so bad that I decided to move it into the game world, seems to have been a good decision :D

@shadowcast Wow it's so cool that some of that managed to come through! I guess even with a tiny bit of dialogue my idea of the world comes through in word choices and such :D But yes outside of the burrows it's a barren wasteland where the BUNs can't maintain themselves without the crystallized energy thingies, and most now drained, we have these islands of BUNs trapped in their burrows. Kinda depressing now that I think about it..

@snesgaard Yea I agree that precise platforming doesn't feel great with the character controller, it was really designed for faster movement in mind (yet there are levels requiring precise platforming (until you get really good and just fly through the levels with a couple of jumps :D) ). I guess in the future I should have more non-me people test the game and give feedback on controls.

@kuviman Thanks for playing it on stream! Solid times for sure, and a great level 4 (might have something to do with it being the level you tried to optimize a bit :D).

@sethios Great times! Especially the last one, usually I get similar times for the last one unless I try really hard (actually I got concerned enough to go back and retry that I didn't break something in a quickfix after getting that time, managed to get 7.08 with a bit of room for improvement so I'll say it's legit (late edit: on a later day I discovered a new technique and got the time down to 6.98, sub-7s!) ) :D And yea I should have added some kind of effect to it (or removed the weird "you must hold the jump direction" requirement), the reason it doesn't have any is that I didn't want players to discover it accidentally and I kinda wanted it to feel like a bug (felt fitting as the game is about speedrunning :D), but that's a risky design decision for sure.

BUN-hop by bqq 2022-10-14T13:26:27Z

@peachtreeoath Thanks for the comment! I actually had no idea that Celeste was a knowledge-unlock type game, that actually makes me finally want to try it out :D (it's been on my bucket list for ages). Good to hear that reaching 10s took effort but was doable, that's exactly what I was aiming for! First after submitting the game I thought it'd be too easy but I was aware from experience that as a dev your perspective of the difficulty is always skewed.

BUN-hop by bqq 2022-10-18T23:21:53Z

Thanks for all the comments and feedback once again!

@eptwalabha Wow hanks for coming back, congratulations on the single crystal times on all levels!

@vykri Oh man what a video! Great analysis on the design, agree with you on pretty much everything. The dash issue you encountered at 13:30 is due to janky duck-dash conditions which is also the reason your duck-dash-jumps didn't work, you need to be moving to a direction at the same time as well for it to work (but only when in air..). I had the condition so players wouldn't accidentally do that but that was an unnecessary fear and the game would have been better without that restriction. Also I know the controls are pretty terrible when using WASD, it was kind of an afterthought from my part as I use arrows+up+Z for movement, but most people here seem to use WASD. I should have provided a right hand key for dash and suggested it for WASD, it's really bad to have all the controls on one hand. Anyways thanks again for the through analysis, it really helps!

Sally's Scribbles by Enjl 2022-10-04T02:39:09Z

Oh wow what a game! Loved the varied character designs (*), each well executed with a lot of personality. Nice amount of special days and progression to keep it interesting, it really adds a lot. Not much to critique, the drawing matching is maybe a bit on the forgiving side but that's a hard problem to solve. I had an amazing experience, great work everyone! (oh yea the music and sounds are great as well!)

Dodgex by chingle 2022-10-14T20:30:19Z

Fun game with cool 1-bit graphics and funky chip tunes! The initial ramp up of mechanics/difficulty was very well executed. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not but when I got further the lasers didn't shoot at 10sec intervals anymore. I was stuck on 50 seconds for quite a while, but finally got better at it :D here's my best score:

Tile To Tile by ADerpyChickenStudios 2022-10-04T22:20:23Z

Nice another speed running adjacent game! The concept is cool and fits the theme well. The mini map really helped me on the blind run through but it was surprisingly engaging to re-run the levels half remembering the patterns. Anyways great work, really enjoyed running this!

Jupiter & Arcana Travel Through the Nevermore by fae.pdf 2022-10-06T03:03:31Z

Oh man I've been waiting for the right moment to play this one since my brain has been too mushy from the jam, which is probably for the better as I would have played the non-fixed version back then. I've managed to finish four endings so far over seven playthroughs but I think I'll need a couple more to completely grasp the world, I tend to be slow with piecing these things together :D Also every combination of choices has so far resulted in a lot of specific dialogue even if the ending is unchanged so there's a huge amount of work put into this (and the writing is beautiful and very evocative in itself!)!

The way the fiction is delivered feels very distinct from other narrative/text driven games I've experienced, having *no* control of the timing makes you feel less like an omnipotent player and more like a participant in the fiction. The way the game canvas extends into the website further blurs the line between fiction and reality for me. The soundscape also feels somehow special, there is a soundtrack as in music but especially with headphones you have those constant heavily panned sinking bass notes they feel like a sonic representation of that sinking feeling you get when faced with a serious choice (or well the one I get anyway, I shouldn't generalize :D).

THE_MACHINE_KNOWS_HATE by HexyVexy 2022-10-14T13:17:39Z

What a mood! You managed to explore the design space very well with the levels, especially love the interaction with glass and lasers. The controls feel good and I really appreciate having the option to use arrow keys + Z/X instead of WASD + shift per in-game instructions. Also a minor thing but I always love to see games that name their levels/rooms (I think my favorite example of this is VVVVVV, which had Bennett Foddy cameoing as "Room Namer" in the minimal credits roll :D), it's such a small thing but adds a lot to the experience, that tiny bit of intent or insight about the level makes you look at it from a different angle.

Run Kitty Run by Neon Orbis 2022-10-08T21:16:18Z

Neat game, interesting to see stuff developed in Defold. I think there's some bug that your character movement is tied to framerate (maybe missing some `deltaTime` factors?). The character moved and jumped comically fast for me on my 144Hz screen. The sound effects were quite fun :D

it could be worse by Neollok 2022-10-12T14:44:21Z

Fun take on the theme! I got up to 5855 with very good RNG on my second run and failed on a sudden inverted controls ramming me into a wall :D Good work on making each status effect feel meaningful, rather than -3% movement speed or something. I think hitting enemies could have had a bit more feedback but otherwise not much to complain about. Oh also the visual design is very neat, I especially like the "main menu", it's looks so good!

Also some eerie similarities to my game, solid reddish background with a timer in the distance and levels built out of boxes :D

To Catch a Wizard by badcop 2022-10-10T22:28:29Z

Super fun game! Really clever application of the theme, very well executed with the level design as well. The last boss was super frustrating at first (took me over 25min to beat at first try) maybe the hitbox of your fireball vs the enemy bullets could have been expanded. Other than that, I really enjoyed the game :D Did a second run for fun and got pretty nice RNG for the boss bullet patterns:

wizard_time.png

On a technical note the window title is "LD51 (DEBUG)", might be a debug build? Also on my first attempt I couldn't light up the torches with fireballs, but at least after a restart it's fast to get to that point when you know what to do, love games that let you do that :D

Hidden Moves by barce 2022-10-05T23:50:17Z

Super cool entry! The music and art is all amazing, great work for getting it to look so coherent with such a large team! In this game the split gameplay works super well as the two sides complement each other, you try to optimize to get into a crowd and then bust your best moves. The achievements really add replay value as well and I just liked to explore the whole area as there was so much to see. Great work everyone involved!

Spooky Glitch by nicorm 2022-10-08T12:36:55Z

Nice collection of minigames, I love how there's different music themes and the art is very nice to look at! I think the zombie one could be improved by making the character not move automatically, I first thought it was an auto-scroller like the witch one but even after understanding it, it was hard to line up jumps when you couldn't aim at a platform and stop moving when on top of it. And as some others have mentioned I'd be happy to have arrow keys as an option (don't worry, you're *far* from the only ones who don't include them, so I have become the complains-about-arrow-keys guy around here :D). Also great job coordinating such a large team, I know it's not easy!

Exp10sion by lynnezzzy 2022-10-09T21:13:03Z

Great use of the theme! The concept reminds me of that one world in Braid. The level design is well thought out but sometimes it's a bit frustrating to have to redo the setup if you fail. It's a hard design problem how to solve it though as adding anything would instantly take away the intuitiveness of the system. The art is very nice as well, all around well rounded entry!

Natural Snek-lection! by Falk Hoeppner 2022-10-10T17:17:06Z

As an average snek enjoyer this game speaks to me. The sketchy notebook style is very fitting, almost like doodling in a biology class to learn about genotypes and phenotypes. Sound effects and music were hilarious as well, didn't manage to beat the game since I'm a complete dummy but managed to collect all the traits at least :D Would have been fun to have something to do with the traits but you obviously have a post-jam plan for that already!

RunCubungus by williewlchew 2022-10-08T22:50:24Z

Really solid entry for a first game! The dimension hopping is a neat idea, but the map ended up being so large that I kept getting lost with the modest player speed. I got up to the yellow orb and *saw* the red orb but not the way there, after running around for a while I lightly touched a bear and ragequit :D Some checkpoints could be nice for future games (a thing that's lacking from many LD entries). But all in all a very good first-time effort, thanks for allowing both WASD and arrow keys!

Would You Care For Seconds? by Rakr0s 2022-10-09T01:25:22Z

Fun QWOP-like! Nice attention to detail with the small push if the food gets stuck near the corners. Not sure how much the different levels add to the game as the food pretty much falls into a pile from whatever arrangement it starts from :D Also I hit a small bug where the fart song was playing on top of the normal one after restarting too fast. But in general the game works fine, the controls are awkward (as they should be!) but still intuitive that you can achieve what you want to do, good work!

Jump in the line by resacaGames 2022-10-04T02:57:22Z

Nice game, way more physical than I expected at first, it's so satisfying to get some good momentum :D Great touch with the music stopping (and even reversing?) with player movement. Nice presentation especially with the way the end stats fade in, great work!

Drag & Box by MrAlcoro 2022-10-04T16:54:33Z

Neat game! The art style is clean and easy to read! The options to pack things variably in boxes allows for a natural difficulty adjustments with how much you want to optimize for points vs just serving orders in a hurry. Thanks also for including a tutorial, really helps for the introduction, great work!

Square in 10 seconds or less by Caresle 2022-10-14T21:35:34Z

Neat platformer, the tileset looks great! The core gameplay works well and has a nice progression of difficulty in the levels.

Game 0 by I wrote it myself 2022-10-04T02:47:37Z

!> Sheesh returning from the stack of video games to that scene was so cool. I feel like the final one (out of the initial game) might have been a bit gratuitous, at least it caught me off guard. Anyways the art and mood are exceptional, great work!

Slide n Burn by justabread 2022-10-08T22:05:57Z

Neat puzzle game, was able to beat it with all the collectibles. Like @roroto-sic I found the fifth level to be the hardest but not *too* hard for me, not that I'm complaining that level 6 was easier :D Maybe it's good to have a little breather level after a hard one. I really liked the bait one level 5 if you press left immediately, that's some good level design! Also the art is very cute (especially the ending screen :D)

Höpelö the Frenzy Cat by Sisusakari 2022-10-12T12:59:27Z

Great platformer, really creative twist on the "timer" interpretation of the theme where you don't just fail but go into a *frenzy* (super funny with the cat being hangry) :D The backgrounds and level geometry is beautiful, and the cat as well! Like some other commenters I had difficulty telling where the spikes were, maybe some brighter line inside like with the big spikes could have helped. Also couldn't find a way to quit without pressing alt+F4, might want to support using escape. The base music is chill as well and has a good contrast to the frenzy music!

I really like the character controller enough that I wanted to do a bit of speedrunning, managed to get 37.2s (glitchless) and 20.5s (double jump glitch\*) :D All in all I had a great time!

\* If you hit jump twice really fast you get two jumps worth of speed.

Sokobyo by Roroto Sic 2022-10-09T21:28:03Z

Neat take on Sokoban! The second level is expertly designed, it demonstrates the zombies and their ability to push boxes at the same time if the player does the obvious solution! Also given the logo, is Sokobyo meant to be read as Sokobyƍ (as in 怉ćș«ç—… :D)

Sokobyo by Roroto Sic 2022-10-09T21:43:42Z

@roroto-sic Yes! I was wondering which meaning it would be, great pun and fitting for the zombies!

HexTech Farm by karatoga 2022-10-05T22:43:29Z

Neat concept and cute art! The planting system is a bit confusing for me as well as the time moves so fast there's not much time to learn the mechanics, maybe a chill learning period before going to the timer would help? Web build also worked just fine for me, the window was a bit cropped but when in full screen all was good!

Tattooz by Juels 2022-10-10T16:34:11Z

Great entry, love being able to see the results in the end! The tattoo designs are great, I like the variety of easier and harder ones. The music and sound design work really well as well. The addition of hard mode is interesting as well, but I preferred the normal mode so I could see how janky my drawings were only at the end :D No real critique, everything works super well! Sampling of my art (from attempts 3&4):

Enemies always make big speeches by Thiefaine 2022-10-03T22:34:12Z

Nice game, the bullet hell aspects were really on point, difficult but not impossible to manage! Doing different builds is good fun (I especially like the jump) and the player attacks feel great to do. Oh also, with jam games I think you could use some existing music and opt out of the audio category if you'd want (well, as long as you have the rights to use it :D).

Bloodthirst by dollcoded 2022-10-06T01:18:01Z

Nice game, I was struggling initially but it got better after I started on a more melee focused approach and using the weapon only when necessary. I feel like the blood meter filled up a little unevenly (like sometimes you'd get a lot and sometimes less) but might be that I misunderstood some mechanic or simply didn't look at it right :D Anyways fun to sprint around trying to survive as long as possible, here's my score:

Pandora’s Box [WebGL/Win/Touch] by AJ Studio 2022-10-03T22:50:04Z

Lovely game, cute art and neat music. Love the little details like the hearts falling and the loading screen, really makes the experience feel polished! I was a bit confused by the butterflies before I got to the stats screen, could maybe have been explained in game whether they're necessary or not. Oh and flawless execution with embedding the unity player, points for not using the default template!

Endless Circle Runner by ZL17 2022-10-05T20:57:17Z

Neat game, couldn't get the embed to work but I'm not even sad about it as the itch.io color scheme is amazing! Agree with others about the control scheme, maybe you could drop the W and have it always follow the mouse? Anyways nice job, the difficulty scales up very naturally!

Quantum Caves by DevLope 2022-10-14T19:05:35Z

Wow that's maybe the most innovative use of wave function collapse I've seen! I found that you need to move very cautiously as the hazard blocks can appear fast without warning, I agree with @someone that I would have enjoyed the game more without those. The voice acted sound effects are pretty fun as well! I got up to a top score of 6.

Mochi Gang by MioMilo 2022-10-06T00:03:35Z

The art in this game looks amazing, love the personality of the characters and the cutscene/tutorial images! Not having WASD was not a deal-breaker for me but I suggest adding at least an option in the future (well, sorry for not having an option for ZQSD in my game either, I'll make sure to have it next time!). The level design was nice, but a bit punishing at points so there can be a lot of waiting to get back to where you were. Overall, very solid whole, great work! Also the movement feels very nice with a controller and I really appreciate the inclusion of the platforming shadow for aligning jumps!

Rhythm Loops by nataku92 2022-10-14T19:39:19Z

Hah great concept! Like some others said maybe using ASD JKL would be a bit safer (still breaking on French keyboards though :D), fortunately I have both Finnish and US keyboard layouts so I could play this properly. It took a couple of tries to understand the system recording two loops and my first couple of songs were a total mess (well my later ones were too, but a bit less :D). The rhythm game section worked well and the hit detection was pretty well adjusted and felt good to play. The sounds are great by themselves but I think baking some reverb into them (or using some at runtime) would make especially the drums sound a bit less harsh. Ah and the art is cute as well!

Final masterpiece: ``` {"notes":[[[2,3],[15,0],[16,3],[32,3],[47,0],[48,3],[64,3],[79,3],[80,0],[95,3],[110,3],[111,0],[126,3]],[[14,0],[49,1],[80,2],[96,1],[105,0],[125,1],[126,3],[127,4]],[[0,5],[34,4],[64,5],[72,2],[81,0],[95,1],[103,2]],[[13,5],[47,0],[62,1],[94,2],[109,3],[123,4]],[[3,2],[13,0],[39,0],[46,0],[62,1],[70,2],[86,4],[95,5],[107,4],[121,3]]],"scale":0} ```

Scooter Mania by daandruff 2023-05-11T01:08:30Z

What an addicting game! The design of this game is deceptively deep, what first seemed like two simplish minigames interleaved bring variety and your success on the first game directly affecting the difficulty of the second part is genius! It gives you a chance of redeem a failure by trying extra hard in the delivery part (assuming you don't get screwed over by bad RNG, but that's a part of the game, should have packed better :D).

Only thing I was missing was a zoom out animation from the pile of boxes to the delivery but that's an unnecessary minor addition. I had a ton of fun with this even though I was pretty bad, here's my best score:

Fun game, love the voiceover interjections in the levels! The main mechanic of the game is incredibly creative and the first three levels were great, I especially loved the background being a hint in the second one! I felt like the later levels could have used maybe one additional mechanic to mix it up and the pixel-hunting in the checkerboard level was a bit frustrating.

The boss fight (and music :D) was great, it using the cursor and ability against you was super creative as well! I got scary close to exactly 10 minute time:

Huge respect for using non-engine C++, I should really do that again one day! The larger levels were a bit intimidating, but overall a nice experience!

The Time I was Reincarnated as a Delivery Driver in a Video Game and had to ... by AMastryukov 2023-05-10T23:29:37Z

Great artwork and fun game to match the right deliveries! Trying to find packages was sometimes a little annoying but in general I had a good time, managed to get a GOOD END with Lexi and Konoko. Love the small touches like DIE on the start menu and the stickers on the car after completing one ending!

Heart-Warming Deliveries by Joscco 2023-05-10T23:58:12Z

Very polished game! I really appreciate the shady progression of the game, really deepens the experience versus grinding the same mechanics for the whole time. Only wish the hint dialogues wouldn't appear when restarting the level, otherwise flawless execution!

Banana's Invasion by coatline 2023-05-03T20:16:15Z

Fun game! Wish it would have some HP regeneration (or at least I couldn't figure out how to get more health) and the shotgun noise was a bit too loud but the core gameplay works!

The Pigeon Post Principle by cassowary 2023-05-10T22:36:24Z

Amazing entry, you explored the design space of your limited mechanics very well! The presentation was really enjoyable as well and the groovy sax tunes complement the puzzle solving mood.

!> I thought level 11 was maybe a bit convoluted for teaching a new mechanic (crossing the winds, assuming this is the intended way to solve the level) and I'm a bit sad it didn't return in later levels

!> Level 14 felt amazing to solve, like setting up a line of dominoes and then knocking them over, loved that design!

It was great getting to develop a mental model for the levels with constraints like "this mailbox has to be the last one" or "this fan is static" which made solving the levels enjoyable. One optional fun thing would have been to name the levels to give them a bit of extra character but that's an aesthetic preference :D

Anyways great puzzle design and I really appreciate having an undo button (I made the mistake of making a Sokoban-like without undo once and regret not having it from the start), had a blast!

Delivered with care by Axelle Desquilbet 2023-05-03T20:49:59Z

Had a bit of a confusing learning curve at start for me but when I got the hang of it I had fun! I think the most confusing aspect for me was falling into the water running out of mana and getting immediately thrown back to start, some animation there would have helped understand what's going on. Direction indicator not being capped to the screen but showing distance was really smart as well (though it did take a bit of getting used to). Making tradeoffs between running and flying was interesting and the presentation was great for PICO-8!

Not a Bot! by Jeremy Ho 2023-05-10T23:05:30Z

Hah genius take on an auto*clicker*, of course the Captcha would come for you, and having the upgrades be shady exes to bypass them is just amazing :D Great aesthetics and sounds, the picture problems were funny as well, shame that they got automated away in the end. All in all very cohesive and fun experience!

Planet Quest by Corporation 2023-05-04T00:14:23Z

Neat game, the 1D level design introduces interesting constraints. Cool to see a custom engine and even more impressive that you support C# scripting for it! I lost the game at 92% as I think I didn't prepare enough cannons and it took me a short while to realize you can visit the ship for other upgrades. Solid entry all around!

Hemoglobin by rrsmtz 2023-05-03T22:39:52Z

Nice interpretation of the concept! I would have liked to have a keyboard bind for the attack but otherwise the gameplay was solid, I'm not sure why I got sucked to the cells sometimes but in general I enjoyed it!

Crystallium by MikoziQ 2023-05-11T00:09:39Z

Damn that's one aesthetic game, took a while to understand the controls but it was pretty Zen-like when I got the hang of it! The diegetic UI was a really nice touch, the whole game almost looks like a well designed poster.

Here's my final score:

Yours always, Delittah by alyd asmar 2023-05-03T21:27:53Z

First off starting the game the presentation is top-notch, the restricted color schemes are so nice to look at and the varied ambiance really gets me into the scene. From the characters I was first drawn to Kazzie and my first playthrough I focused almost exclusively on them, only interacting with others in case I could motivate them to meet. You were able to communicate the personalities and struggles of each character in a really varied way and getting to know them felt great.

Like some other commenters I was a bit confused of what "I" was in the game but I like the ambiguity

!> it felt like the three items were things you'd encounter living in the tree and "sending yourself" would make the recipient stumble upon the object, eliciting the feelings represented by the object, but that goes against the characters stating that they received a physical letter :D

Implementation-wise I thought it was smart to separate the replies into two feelings, each corresponding to one paragraph to make the combinations. Great experience all around!

Unsafe Delivery Co. by MorePixels 2023-05-03T22:02:31Z

Neat game, I wish I could drop down the overhang, I kept getting stuck on it through the one way jump. Loved the art as well!

Treats Inbound by rickylee 2023-05-11T00:46:24Z

Cute game! I originally missed the petting-to-speed-up-mechanic but on a second try I used it and the game got 300% better :D The camera tilt on turning felt a little disorienting at start but I got used to it, I'm afraid it might trigger motion sickness in some people though. The music and art work great as well!

Purrfect Delivery by Mashiro 2023-05-10T22:08:28Z

Really cute delivery! The pop-ups were really frustrating but I guess that was the idea :D Maybe the virtual OS could have been integrated a bit deeper into the game (or having a meta-game about installing an ad-blocker or something). Apart from that the game felt coherent and super polished, great work everyone!

Mech Express by No whOne 2023-05-03T20:31:43Z

Great take on a tower defense type game, cute art as well! The randomness felt a bit punishing at times when I had long breaks between ammo crates and my units were sitting idly for quite a bit. Great multi-level interpretation of the theme with delivering the mechs and crates!

lycoris;lastwords by robobarbie 2023-05-11T00:36:02Z

What a great experience, everything comes together in this game! The setup with the first two souls and the shift to the third one was perfect. Good use of interactive elements within the story without them feeling forced, I especially liked the second-to-last one with finding the one word. Great art and audio as well!

Dear friend by hmrpf 2023-05-03T23:01:30Z

Beautiful game and the physics feel super responsive and great to play! First I thought the environment was a bit hard to read, as in what you collide with and what you don't, but in the end I think it added a unique feel to the game many other games like this lack. The difficulty was on the high end but I was able to beat it after a reasonable amount of attempts, great work all around!

Slime Post by Sebhulhu 2023-05-03T22:14:41Z

Cute game, slimes are the best :D I think the heart system was a bit too punishing, just retrying the level felt like punishment enough. Also I think up arrow didn't work for me. Otherwise I really enjoyed the level design, great progression and mechanics!

Lost Souls by MicaelSampaio 2023-05-10T22:01:49Z

Beautiful art style, love the mood of the game! I noticed a fun design bug (feature?) that you could grind infinite ammo by going in/out of a zone repeatedly. The controls felt a bit awkward at first but felt pretty responsive after getting used to them, only wish there would have been a sensitivity setting.

I also struggled with Assembly Reloads on our entry and found out about about assemblies and "Settings > Editor > Enter Play Mode Settings" too late as it requires the code to be a bit more structured, well there's always next time!

Spatial Delivery by Michael Darling 2023-05-10T22:48:27Z

Initially clicked on the entry only for the great "special delivery" pun :D The mechanics are interesting and I managed to experiment with multiple ways of solving during my playthrough:

- Single manually controlled drone - Micro-managing multiple drones - Oh damn they can steal each other's resources - Having one main drone with big inventory and few helpers - Spamming the map full of drones with automatic routes going in circles (did not work) - Back to single drone (+ a single helper here and there) :D

Syncing the music with the timer was a great idea, the last few seconds had a solemn vibe to them.

Mailure To Launch by drainkid 2023-05-03T23:38:41Z

Amazing entry, not to speak a of even being a first one! Loved the different projectiles and status effects, the music fading was super smooth and the chopped robot voices worked perfectly with the soundtrack. The one vertical room with the long "stairway" up was a bit difficult compared to the rest, wish there was some way to regain hearts from killed enemies. All in all great game, had a ton of fun completing this one!

Bricks and Fire by sudocoffee 2023-05-10T21:42:19Z

Nice first entry, love the diegetic UI! The difficulty curve was pretty amusing as first I had no idea how the fire worked and it was way too hard but in the end I could keep the boxes in the first screen with some serious fire spam. Not sure if I should have waited even longer but it didn't seem to get hard enough that they could escape my fire blasting further into the level :D

Punchline! by Federyee 2023-05-03T22:51:12Z

Great entry for your first finished game! I especially liked the word dodging minigame as it felt thematic as in "not letting the criticism get to you", the heckler minigame was pretty confusing and I lost the audience engagement even though I tried to repair the objects, but the bottom right wouldn't just get repaired. Also I considered the interpretation "delivering a joke" of the theme as well, happy to see someone actually did it :D

Akoban by KoB-Kirito 2023-05-03T23:58:33Z

Very cute game, had fun following the story! (is that a Monokuma plushie btw? :D)

Chain Mail by Gev 2023-05-10T21:56:16Z

Fun game, enjoyed trying to find the optimal route through the levels. Music was going quite hard as well :D On the first try I did not realize I had to bring back the packages and lost, was my fault for not reading the instructions well enough but some kind of "return now!" text would have been a nice touch.

Cursor Courier by ClarkDjent 2023-05-10T23:47:10Z

Creative idea! Couldn't play too far due to ctrl+ZXC doing critical damage to my wrist (would also have appreciated up as jump key :D)

Octo Arms Deliverance by KarlTheCool 2023-05-11T00:52:10Z

Fun game, love the concept of an octopus spinning around with various weapons :D The game feel was great apart from the fact that it was hard to tell if you hit enemies or not. The aesthetics with the tutorial and restart doodles worked well with the CRT aesthetic as well!
