Nice idea! I saved the links and I may try it with friends!
It's cool and beautiful, but a little to easy. I think it could be really great if blocks would be falling at a faster rate.
The design is great. Errors can be really punishing but I think it's quite cool.
Really hard but cool! My score depends a lot of where ennemies spawn. Maybe you could add a little algorythm for placing ennemies a little more all around the player ? Music is fine, but i think the fire sound is a little too loud. Overall, it's a solid little game you have made!
This game is really fun, and the graphics are lovely! It's really nice and polished (even if I don't really like the music). One of the best I've played for the moment, good job!
The "shrinking" level works very well, but I find that it is quite difficult to shoot enemies while moving. With bigger ennemies and platforms, it could be easier maybe? A time limit and a score could be quite cool. Good job with the "auto-resizable-3d" level-design.
Super cool design. Some of the puzzles are quite difficults. Love the mood and the gameplay! It's an impressive game for a jam!
It was a fun little game with cool artwork. Making a little point & click in 72 hours seems quite difficult! Except for the inventory bug, it's all good, and the difficulty is well balanced.
The concept is great and I like the graphism! I did'nt really understand why I can conquer some tiles and I can't for some others.
It's quite difficult, but interesting. It's a pretty complex game with good ressource management, and I like the music. I think the sound effects are too loud, and the UI is not really simple to understand.
It's a good game!
It's hard but great. The music and sounds are awesome. Really a great arcade game. Good job @enchaec ! It could be better if moving in diagonal was'nt so fast.
Wow it's really stunning! It feels very nice and polished, and the controls are smooth. The square spots on the player view are a nice implementation of the theme. I agree that an exit button would be cool, but maybe it's there and I missed it (I used alt+F4).
I'm not sure about the humor, but it's fun to play, and the parody works well! The graphism are pretty good for a 72h game!
Fun and well done ! I really like the palette/contrast you've chosen between the slime and the background, it works really well visually. I agree with the other feedback here.
The gameplay works well even if i did'nt understand what to do at first. I'm sure you can make a game with this prototype!
I really LOVE this game. It's the best I've played for the moment. Everything is cool: the theme interpretation, the mood, graphics and music. It's a little too hard at the beginning, maybe. I'd really like a full game like this, with different levels, difficulty and themes. Great job!
My farm has last 47 years and 1 season!
I juste replayed your game. It is REALLY cool. :-)
Love the cute graphices and the physics. I think the game should be a little more difficult, but well, it's cool to be on the ground with my friend the yellow rubber duck. I think the titles of our games share something!
One of the best game I played so far! I love the mood, peaceful and stressful at the same time. I would love some bigger levels, and maybe some more "contemplative" ones, because the physic of the boat is fun and I would like to be able to navigate without stressing about the time. Really really great!
Everything was cool. Good job!
Really fun to play! The controls are a little hard to get at first, and the game is quite difficult overall, but it's very enjoyable. The planet tags/text bubbles are a neat idea.
Bravo !
The concept works really well, and the puzzle were interesting. I think the sound effects volume should be lower, so we can listen to the music. An maybe the music should'nt restard from the beginning of every level.
Really cool game! I think the mouse sensibility is a little to low. Love the level design. With longer levels and different music, it could be a great game. The "red" level are cool, and the difficulty balance is perfect. Good job!
The concept is really well, but the size of the "boards" is random, so sometimes it is impossible to make more than 2 or 3 floors. There is some little bugs with the camera. It's really interesting, and i'd like to see a more "complete" version of this game (maybe with some ambiant music?)!
The idea is really really nice, I love the bonus/multiplier with the time, it makes me want to build everything "too fast", and it makes me lose, it's perfect!
The concept is REALLY cool. And like @starven i love the menu. I could imagine a full game on this concept. Well done!
The abstract graphics are really cool, and I like the ambiant music and sound effects. The level design and progression in difficulty is nice! Really cool, you deserve more ratings!
Some level are quite good, some other are hard (the "42 room" is nice). Would have been cool with music. Sometimes, the character bounces on things, it's weird.
The music is quite cool!
That's a cool relaxing game! I had a little bug: one model was stuck over the head of the character. It was just a graphic bug, I was able to pick and grow new seeds. I think the first update of the ship is useless. I would have love if the game had different music, I find this one "too much repetitive". Overall it's a cool and polished game, good job!
That's REALLY great for the first music you ever made! Keep up with creating your musice for your games, it's cool!
I saved the forest! The scream of the rabbit has make me laugh. :D The interpretation of the theme is good. I think it's more a puzzle game than a strategy game, but it's quite cool. With more difficulty and units, it could be quite interesting. Thank for the game!
I had my best score spamming "middle click" to skip day and nights. The concept is quite cool.
Graphism and gameplay are really nice. Il love the 3d ball on a 2 game. I think the music could be improved! Maybe a level system, with new kind of ennemies (with different movements) could be a good addition. I enjoyed it, thanks for this game!
Quite fun, and perfectly in the theme!
It's really fun, with a great music! My right arm hurts now, you can be proud of you. Good job, it's a solid entry, and a fun little arcade game. Graphics are lovely.
Fun game! Maybe the charcater could auto-shoot so we don't have press the mouse button during de whole game? The final boss is quite easy, once the little guys are dead, you just have to stay static and shoot him. Bonus point for Gustav Holst music. :-) The graphical aspect of the game is really beautiful!
Very fun! Super easy to grasp, quite hard to make a good score, that's really nice! I really enjoyed the flow like feeling while playing. I hope your health is better now, thank you for sharing your game :)
One of the best Ludum Dare entry I've played so far. I LOVE the audio. It's quite difficult, but hey, Benjamin looks just like me in the morning. And my mornings are always difficult.
I love the art / glowing effect! It's really hard, I can' get past 22 or 23.
The concept works very well. Two or three more planets/lvl could have been cool.
The link https://tinyredplanet.itch.io/the-fall-of-arcology-one is dead, we can't play your game
It's really great. The map is cool. And #NoSpoilers is cool.
We're first-time Ludum Darers too! With some sound, and some fixes (I have been blocked by invisible walls), it can be cool.
Woah, pretty good game! Love the art, the controls are good. Except sometimes when the we can't double jump (when we are lower than where we started the first jump, I think). Overall I think it's a little difficult, but i'm quite bad at playing this kind of game. Really great! With more levels, a progressive difficulty and audio, it could make a very cool little game!
It's really fun! It's one of the best ludum dare game I've played for the moment. I love the audio, and physic is fun. That's a really good job!
Really fun, and with a good pace. The megalazor is a real pleasure to use. :D
I'm not sure it is really a game, but the graphism works well! It's a strange (but not a bad) experience.
Score and ability to return on main menu on the gameover screen could have been cool. The graphical assets are quite beautiful.
Nice game! It works really well. Some of the sounds (voices for example) are really great, even if I don't really like the music. I think the time limits should have been easier, and maybe some bigger furniture, so we can run out of space? Overall it's quite cool.
The concept is fun, but it's too difficult, I think. The humor is cool. It's a solid entry, I'm pretty sure you had fun making this game!
The art / graphic style is really beautiful. I find the gameplay a little slow, but it fits well with the character(s).
The idea is great, the UI is fine, the music is simple but it works, the graphism are nice, and the game is quite cool. Simple but very effective!
There is a little bug: sometimes, white arrows don't stop on the opposite wall and continue outside of the screen, it makes the game a little easier, but i'm not sur it's intended!
I saved the multiverse! The concept behind the game is really awesome, the game itself not so much. The next interface works well. Good hacky-job!
Thanks a lot! We'll try to update it to add more levels. (i don't know if you have noticed, but the music on the title screen is something like 8 minutes long)
Thanks @manusaiz Maybe it was in azerty and not qwerty? I'm pretty sure I've changed it before uploading, but I may have made an error. Sorry!
The mapping issue should be resolved. Thanks @tinynerd & @ryan-wickman
Sorry @neuralcoder Maybe your computer is a little slow and it does not have the time to load the assets before you hurt something ?
Try to go forward during the black screen, it may save you during the loading? I'm sorry.
@samueldeboni yeah it's to short. We'll try to add more levels with different moods.
@superqgs @stateoff Big pixels are cool! We're pretty happy with the resolution too. :-) Thanks! (and Godot is super cool)
@drnoir the audio is not generative, I made a long (5 minutes I think) abstract piece for the level, and a another long one (8 minutes) for the menu. Thanks for streaming! (do you have a link for your twitch channel ?)
@holdmeimscared Thanks! I'm happy you've enjoyed the "claustrobic feel" of the game.
Thanks @r3c0d3r we're going to check what is the problem, I'll tell you and @neuralcoder when the issue is resolved. Sorry!
@rahmkota3 We're indeed thinking about making a longer/slower/more contemplative level in the future. Thanks for the feedback.
@niterich we wanted to implement a slider for mouse sensivity, but we did'nt have enought time and we were pretty tired. That's a thing we'll add later! The mouse wheel is a good idea, thanks.
For the music, it's because I improvised it, so I did'nt look at the duration. It's a little too long, I agree!
Thanks a lot @drnoir I see Debord, Emma Goldman, Tristan Tzara and Nietzsche (and 2001) on your desktop, we share some reading tastes.
Sorry @miracl you seems to have the same problem than @neuralcoder We'll investigate to make the game check that everything is loaded before starting the level timer. Sorry! I'll tell you when it's fixed.
Thanks @ghust1995 For the main menu, I made a pattern on the volca keys and another one on nanoloop mono, and I improvised with effects and the volca fm for the melody. The music of the level is a 5 minute improvisation on the volca keys. The music of the "win screen" is made with nanoloop mono (it is not really good, but I was tired). I love synths!
@lucien-catonnet Thanks a lot! (And I love Pierre Henry!)
Sorry @boopsgames I'll upload a qwerty version for mac soon. You can change the keybinds in the option menu.
@swiftpotato We plan to add some levels, and some longer/contemplative ones. I'm glad you liked the game! Thank you!
@shakedimus playing with a touchpad seems hard! Yeah, if we add some new levels to the game, we'll add different music too. Thanks for your review. :-)
It's quite fun! A version with scores and automatic level changes could be cool!
It's a little paper-please-like game. Love the mood, and the gameplay is solid. The sound design is nice. If you add more variations to the gameplay, it could be very nice!
It works, we can see your game. I'm downloading it right now!
Your game is really difficult! I think the wall should move a little slower. With wich software did you make the music?
Pretty fun and quite difficult. Agree with @2games2easy and @smbe19 about the size of the bucket. The music is quite cool. It's a pretty good proof for a bigger game, imho.
@superqgs it's quite hard at the end, but the concept works. It would be better if crabs were comming from different directions!
I think the game need a checkpoint. And when you die, something like "you climb x meters in x time" could be cool.
The low poly is pretty cool, but I find that the skybox don't match with the style. Nice work! It was really fun.
It's quite difficult and random, but eating cookies is cool. With a gameover with high scores, it could be cool!
Cute and fun game! I agree with the existing feedback on the balance when the ink starts to spread all over the place, almost not moving allows to continue for quite long with little danger. Overall a nice game, good job!
Some music and, points, and bonus could have been cool. The procedural generations works really well.
500+ points 520.png (you have to go to the left)
That's a cool game with a nice theme! Some music and different sound effects could have been great. Good job with this little game, it works really well.
I love the "heavy" jump of the bear. :D
Cool game, with cute graphics and music. I find pretty hard to hit asteroids when the come from the top or bottom of the screen. Love the way we can control rockets.
The idea is cool, but I can't play the game. I stole some document, gave it to one guy with a beard, and everything is blocked. I have some errors in the debug window if it can help you.Capture.PNG
Woooh, it's super cool. Awesome graphics and music. What did you use for making the soundtrack? The game is really difficult but the mood is great and playing the game multiple time is not boring.
I found that it is quite hard to make a "map" of the ship. But it helps a lot to understand how to play the game.
I'm very much impressed by the engine : even if there are no textures, what is implemented works really well. The game concept is fun and fits the theme. As for the mechanics, I could grab a jar in the village and bring it to the cave. The villagers ran after me, but as soon as I placed the object in my home, they looked around and came back calmly (they probably accepted that the jar was at a far better place now :D).
And as a side note, I don't know how you managed the keymaps, but the directions worked out of the box without having to switch from azerty to qwerty on my side, which I have to do for 90% of the jam games. So for this point especially, thank you :)
Very nice game! Well done! :)
I would suggest to have some confirmation popup when pressing "esc", I accidently closed the game while playing (I tried to use "esc" instead of "space" to reach the map switching menu).
It's quite hard at first but once you understand the mechanics it's really cool. Love it, I would have play it more if it were longer.
Good job with this game!
Nice one! It's a bit to easy, no ennemies chase you. I like the rogue like spirit and the low-rez graphic. After "winning" I tried a "second run" because I did'nt really use the sword and the cloak and the game crashed when I tried to buy the cloak to the old man.
Screenshot 2019-10-12 at 21.30.57.png
The general atmosphere is very cool, and I really liked the graphics! I had the same bug other people mentioned, with the game half frozen when the player dies.
Really really hard but quite cool. It's quite obvious but some sounds would improve this game a lot.
Super nice, it works really well, the mechanics are interesting and easily understandable. Great! The music is a little laggy/choppy on my computer. I like that there are different tracks when you reaplay the gaame.
Really nice graphics and sound design. Love the blocky artefacts. As other said, this game could be pretty cool with some level design and balancing. Nice one!
One of the entries I had the most fun with! I maxed all stats and managed to get out. I didn't quite understand how to possess the bones though, event with the additional skills, so I think I'll try doing the quests again. Great job overall!
That's a nice game! Exploring the map was fun. The real only problem is that is difficult to understand the game. There is no way to understand what is the goal of the game. Are diamonds useless? Wich weapon is better than other? Etc.
The gameplay is nice, and I like the way you put the theme in the starting choices.
I like it, but at first, I did'nt understood that buying things is automatic. Love shouting at big tomato guys.
DON'T TOUCH MY TOMATOES
I really like the game but it's quite unbalanced. It's better to perform a lot of small sales than big ones. We few adjustements (and some music) it could be a great game.
Very cool! The concept is very original, and the gameplay is really nice. I loved how the "players" ran into each other to fight when they were not dragged into the lobby immediately. I would love to play a longer version with more features!
I really like the idea. Graphics are super cute and I love the ocean level. Super nice idea about playing with position and movement. Some kind of menu cool be nice too.
What now.
Graphics are cool, the combat is quite hard but fun. The hitbox of the ennemy is too small for me. A longer music coul have been nice!
It's hard but fun. The physics and and the concept are super... mmmh strange and cool at the same time.
It could be could with differents levels with different kind of machines that could be plugged together or things like that.
Wow really cool! The gameplay feels very polished, the graphics are stunning and the music perfect for the game. Well done! :)
I'm not sure I've understood everything but I really like the mood and audio is top. Not sure about the gameplay. That's quite experimental, I like it but I feel that it need something more interactive.
Nice little game! I also had some difficulty to find the character and get used to the controls, but after that it went very well! :)
It's quite hard to understand where you have to go, but I guess it's the point of the game. The control are really precise and it's super nice for this kind of game. Good job!
Nice concept! I think it's a little too slow but I've played tetris too much.
Nice game! I think the UI need more visual and sound feebacks. It took my some tries to understand how trading and merging works (for example, it's not really clear if it's your turn or your opponent turn to trade).
The merging and combat system works very well.
This one is really fun! Love discovering and "creating" new elements. The DB seems to be working well. Everything is really polished.
The concept is nice, but the almost full darkness makes the game indeed very difficult. I aimed for the lighter spots and managed to reach some platforms, but the enemies quickly hit me and made it all dark again. It's probably just a matter of balance, having an area a little lighter around the character, and maybe having the lights respawn after a while, so that the player is not stuck in the dark. Otherwise the controls work fine and it fits the theme perfectly :)
I really like it! Good job on the UI, updates, and generating enemies! More musics could have been cool.
It's really stupid so I love it! The physics works very well, it's fun and it's an original way to implement the theme. Really nice. Special bonus for sound fx. :D
It's quite hard to understand what to do, but it's cute and I like the graphics.
Well done! The mood is definitely there, it's nice to wander in the game and discover the mechanics. The movements of the character could be a little smoother (for example, when you're walking and then you jump, the character stops after the jump instead of keeping the walking speed it had), but it's nice to play as it is too. I couldn't beat the boss even after getting the upgrade, so I haven't seen the end.
Very nice implementation of this kind of puzzles. I agree that the player position could be a little different from one of the tiles. I really liked the music!
Thanks ! I think we'll work on it. This project was super fun.
Thanks @anne-ogborn @philarmon @gnomik and @tyrannas.
I hope we'll find motivation to continue to work on it! We're quite happy with the mood of this game.
@ryzy27 Thanks! Yeah it was meant to be a 5 minute level but we had too much technical problem before we could create the level so... I'm glad you liked it!
@mikethehuman We planned to make music and fx more linked together indeed!
@pilarius it's really a prototype, there's no way to loose indedd since you have 3 hp at start, and there is only 2 ennemies that make damage.
@filipdufka that's indeed a great idea! Thanks!
@brotherbondproduction : yes I agree, we wanted to make the player react a little more on the damage (both inflicted and taken), but we were really short on time. It's definitely something we'll add if we work again on the project!
@flywolfe : you're right, we thought the same right before shipping the project, but it was too late already. The enemies were added to the level something like a half and hour before the deadline xD
Also, thank you very much @clickbait , @shigor and @feingehacktes for your feedback :)
@thetatautau Thank you for your observation. It's true that there should be more information on what the player is supposed to do at the beginning of the level. The initial plan was to shoot at enemies, to avoid getting hurt and make the highest score possible, but yeah in the final prototype the experience is more contemplative.
@lucien-catonnet Merci ! Oui, on a perdu énormément de temps, et c'est assez dommage. Si on a la motivation, on essaiera de faire un vrai petit jeu sur cette base.
@wolf4d yeah we have not implemented a loose screen. :D @fedorl That's strange, I'm going to try it with an integrated intel graphic card to see if I have the same bug. From the look of the error code, it could be a bug with the godot engine. Thanks for the feedback!
@blk-dragon Thanks! I really love Rez so it's indeed one of our inspirations. @dodelov We did not really implement our ideas with the theme. We wanted to make things appears one after another, starting with a black screen, we've spend to much time dealing with technical issues to create a proper level with this idea. Thanks for your feedback!
Thanks @bradleyashley and yes, it really is too easy. There absolutly no challenge in our "game". :D
Very nice! The mood was perfect. But I was stuck at the end on the message "of course you fight" or something like that. I did'nt see how I could escape. And so I fought. After the fight the message was stuck. I tried to jump so I died and respawn and the count/boss was here again.
Except for this little bug, it was a nice game!
THe way you implemented the theme is really nice. It's quite impossible to aim anything for me but the gameplay is interesting. I'm pretty sure you can make a good little game with this idead!
Quite hard to understand what can be done but it's really fun to experiment. Love it, and the music is super nice. Good and original game!
Hi! I like the chicken! I think you should add some kind of "end" to the game. And it would be better if all chickens did'nt walk with the same speed movement, because you can put them all at the same place and grab something like 40 eggs with one button.
And all my chicks left the screen. I started with almost nothing except a chicken, and I finished with a lot of money but all my animals were gone. Sad story!
The mood is definitely present, it's dark but not impossible to walk without the light, so it's nice. I also liked the night ambiance sounds/noises, they really improved the immersion. I had much trouble finding the light, I did on my second attempt. I had some issues with the sound of one ghost that continued for the whole try, even though I had escaped it.
Very fun and original, well done!
I'm not so much into platformers but I really love the the graphics. You did an amazing work on assets! I'm not so sure about sound fx and music (the music is nice but I think something more ambient could be more suited with this dark nightly mood). Great job, I'm pretty sure you can turn this into a bigger game!
Ig's quite fun! Nice generation! The music is super short but really fun. Everything works perfectly and I didn't notice any bugs. It could be a nice game with some new mecanics (more powerful weapon, evilish sheeps, etc)
It's hard but fun. I'm trying to get to the end!
Controls are REALLY hard. And as @ace17 I liked the music.
Really enjoyed it. It's a simple concept but it works well. With some illustrations and more choices it could be really cool! I did the game twice to see the two endings.
I don't know why, but I kept trying to place letters "between" letters instead of replacing them.
Really like it!
The idea is cool, but it's really hard at first and the wall of death goes forward very very fast. It is also a little bit difficult to guess some of the colours (I first thought that the red was pink and kept falling), and if you keep the concept to develop it beyond the jam, you may have to adapt it for color blindness. Overall it works well and the jumping movement is pleasant, which is important for a platform game. Well done! :)
Graphics and dialogues are super cute. It's a buggy bug about bug but I quite like it. On my computer, the mouse disappear when I play the game so it's quite difficilt to click on the buttons.
I found this game very hard but it may be because I suck at platformers. I really like the drawed backgrounds! With a longer music and some animation, it could really be nice.
Super cool! Very nice gameplay, good difficulty curve, and interesting level design with well done aesthetics.
Really short but smooth and well executed. It could be cool with more levels with the same gameplay but different ideas.
The concept is indeed very original, and it was fun to play!
Wow super cool! I loved the concept and the mood! I managed to get out at the third try :)
On my first attempt I thought the game had crashed, since I couldn't see anything, so I would suggest to keep at least some indication on the UI that everything is fine. Then I restarted the game and I tried to move randomly, so found the synthetizer and everything went smoothly after that. I would love to play a longer version one day!
Really a fun game. The gameplay works very well, the music is awesome, and it's fun.
Mecanics are really hard to figure, and the game is really hard once you've understand it. But the game is fun and placing the world tiles is cool. I really enjoyed the music!
Nice one, cool dialogue choices and the intro is reaally nice. I found it quite hard.
Animations are nice and smooth. With more polished graphics and sounds, and more complexity, it could be quite nice!
I like the concept of the lone star chasing for planets.
Very fun concept and the physics works very well. The gun sound fx is pretty annoying, but everything else is super nice and polished!
I don't really understand the game. The required per day water and food does not seem to work, because even if it says it requires 9 or more a day, you can just survive by gathering berries and collecting water. Doing it that way, you it's almost impossible to loose.
The concept seems really nice. I enjoyed the dice part, but it seems it need more features and testing to be interesting.
Nice and well polished game! The storyline is fun, and controls works well. It's sometimes quite hard to aim and some ennemies can shoot you wile you can't see them but that's fine, it does not prevent the game from being playable.
And it's cool to see someone use Superpowers. We tried it some years ago, and the collaborative editor worked really well.
Nice game (and it could be improved with some music). Bien joué !
It's stupid, it's simple and it's FUN. Everything fits well, and I really enjoyed the sounds. The difficulty is not really a problem for me, since I don't see myself playing this for hours. Really nice!
That was quite cute,! Nice interpretation of the good old riddle. I feel sorry for the poor skeleton. Nice little detail with this one.
I enjoyed it! The traveling part between the two side is quite long imho, but that's not a real problem.
Nice job with this entry.
This is hard. But it's fun. Love the music and the sound FX! Some kind of highscore could be great (I think the lifetime of the hare could work for that).
Did you like using godot?
Nice and solid entry!
Nice one. The concept is really great, and the game is very easy to play and super fun. Sometimes, I have "clones" that are quite glitchy, they can shoot but they don't appear so they don't push plates. It makes the game quite difficult at the end.
Overall, it's really nice. Good job with this entry.
Nomnomnom. Your game is simple, easy to understands, and works well. And sound FX made me laugh. Some kind of high score could be a nice addition.
Very very cool! I had a really good time going through all the levels :) Graphics are adorable, the music is nice, and the level design offers a good learning curve.
Nice work here. I enjoyed the mood, the graphics and the audio. Some collisions are quite strange. Joli travail.
The game looks very nice on screenshot, but on my computer, I just have the character on a black background. The music is nice.
@matfernandestt Of course! Here it is:
Capture d’écran_2020-04-21_19-54-58.png
Great mood, great graphics, great music, great humor. Everything is fine. And so are lasagnas. All hail supreme beings!
Nice first submission! As other have said, it's sometimes quite hard to figure how high up we are. The idea is nice, and the graphics are really cool!
Hope you have enjoy this Ludum Dare, it's really a super fun event!
It's quite well made! Some soundtrack could be really nice like @attala suggest. It's quite difficult at first to understand what to do, but you tutorial really helps. I haven't encounter any bugs so that's nice.
And... who the hell put hand grenade on a road?
It's lovely and peacefull! Love the mood, the music, etc. It's quite hard to figure out how to plant seeds but once you know it, it's nice! Really a nice entry, I liked it.
An in-game helper when you pick up your second tool could be helpful to remind how to switch between tools. I had to restart the game to read the tutorial again.
It works quite well! Some kind of increasing difficulty could be a nice addition.
Woaw, very very nice. I only played the html5 version, but it was fine. I did'nt encounter any kind of real bug. Some collisions are quite messy but if i've understood correctly, you already patched it.
The puzzle are nice, pixel art and general mood are great. Some kind of music could have help making a more awesome mood, but it was really a nice game experience. Thanks for this game, I enjoyed it a lot.
Survived for 1:55 yay! \o/ I loved the graphics and the overall mood. I agree with the other comments on the character movement being a bit slow, but it also adds to the atmosphere of the game, so it works.
The puzzles are quite hard but the game is fun. Graphics and sounds are nice and polished. Smart, cute and cool game! Loved it!
Some kind of two player coop version could be really enjoyable. One of the best LD46 games I've played yet!
Really enjoyed this ~~game~~ interactive movie! There's a real mood here, and the old school graphics+music works really well.
I think I would enjoy a kind of contemplative and narrative game with this style. I won't rate it on the "fun" part but everything else is fine for me! Good job.
That was fun! I manage to get to the ending at the third try. The physics are hilarious, and the music is kind of "epic". Good job on this entry!
And the king should really do something about the roads.
Nice mood and graphics for the game! I agree on the movement being a little bit slow, and some difficulties to make the difference between interactive and background elements. I don't know if it's intended, but the turret seems to teleport the player always at the same spot, which actually becomes a shortcut on the way back.
I had a good time playing, good job! :)
I never played FTL, but even without know how to play this kind of game, it felt quite natural. Some kind of more precise objectives (how many probes do I have to launch for example) could have be nice.
Nice job on this one. It's good and polished.
Thank you! Ah yeah, FTL is in my todo list.
The graphics and controls works really nicely but... sometimes some ennemies seems nearly immortal, as if the hitbox did'nt work as intended.
Good job with this game!
The game seems to have some problems on my computer. Fullscreen or not, I have this issue:
Capture d’écran_2020-04-21_00-22-26.png
Love the gameplay, the story was fun, and the puzzle you made interesting. I enjoyed it. Creating sound FX for the speech is great idea. Some kind a music could have help bringing an cool mood.
I enjoyed it. Nice work on the ending screen with ranking, it's a cool addition. It's simple and it works well.
Good job with this little game.
Nice graphics and gameplay works really well. I enjoyed the little jokes. And it's nice so see some option menus with settings.
I have the same question than @gaminghamster does the game have an ending in the castle?
It really is a interesting idea but juste like @gallahron said, it's easier to just protect 4 or 5 blocks in a corner than really trying to chase monsters and rebuild the level. You can survive as long as you take the bullet and jump at the mobs. Audio FX are quite annoying after some time, but I was not supposed to be able to survive for so long so that's not really a problem.
Graphics and idea are cool.
Nice job with the animation of the alien. A more complete mini game could have been cool.
Now I just want to listen to some good old Cosmic Felk. Graphics and story are fine, and the mood works well. I think it could be cool to have one or two alternative endings.
The interpretation of the theme is really great. Nice job here!
@play-pause-games The game is about keeping a memory alive. We thought it would fit the theme! As for an actual combat system, it was planned but we didn't have enough time for it (there is a HP and bonus attack system that we made but is not used).
@kjscott Thanks for your comment! There sure is some improvement that can be make to the UI.
@louis-hayes-greenwood Thanks! It was really fun to record this one.
@geegaz Thanks a lot! Most of my time was used to write the "book" while Bouteille was creating the code for the game. As for the theme, the game is about keeping a memory alive, but I guess it was not really ovious since you're the second person telling us that they did'nt understand it. Thanks for your comment!
@noel-widmer Thank you! The game would indeed be really improved with more depth for the main character, and more choices to make. It was quite difficult to write (and translate, since we're not native english speakers) all of this in 3 days. We're quite happy with the result but you're right.
Thanks everybody! @lucien-catonnet the inventory system is more a concept than a real gameplay mechanics. It works, and one on the ending depends on it, but it's indeed not really useful or necessary during the playthrough.
Thank you @arinyl it was fun to write all of this, and we're happy to see people replaying the game to get other endings.
@splitpainter Thank you! Hope you have fun learning music.
Thanks everybody! @jlv Il y aurait en effet pas mal d'amélioration d'UI a faire en d'une manière générale pour rendre le jeu plus agréable.
@bisvilla We wanted to implement more mechanics with the inventory, but we didn't have enough time, so we just focused on the storylines.
@snowirbis Une des fins apporte plus d'explications que les autres. Néanmoins, cela reste assez mystérieux, et nous n'avons pas voulu apporter trop de réponse pour laisser planer un poil d'ambiance de conte/légende.
@slimmerburger Thank you! It was really fun to record this piece of music, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Having some animations and maybe some kind of sound effects when using the buttons could indeed really improve the game
Thanks a lot everybody!
@thedestoryer Yeah, there isn't a lot of consequences during the stories. Choices you make influence the ending, and that's all. If we make another game like this, we'll try to focus on this kind of mechanics (and inventory and combat).
@whydoidoit and @marcusnystrand We're also frustrated by the lack of content in our game, so I understand what you're saying. We had a ton of ideas, such as randomization of some events, other "branches" in the story, different kind of encounters some kind of "mise en abyme" of the whole story in the ruins (it just trigger an ending because we did'nt have enough time). I guess that making the game in two languages did'nt help us to create more content. Thank you for your comments about the soundtrack, it was really fun to record this piece of music, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
It's simple but fun! As others have said it, controls are a bit funky. I enjoyed it, the music is really fitting.
This one is really fun. And the drawings matches perfectly the mood of the game. Love that it has some replay value! Really good job here. VIVA LA REVOLUCION :D
Quite hard, but hey, it works! Music and sound FX works great. Just like @doenerti I find the point explosion sometimes quite difficult to avoid.
For some reason, my comment has been published twice, sorry !
The music and sound FX are really fun, and the game works well. It's quite hard but I liked it. There's one thing I really didn't understood at first: I didn't understand that I was supposed to cross the river. I did'nt think Sparky could survive that, but sparky a tough fire!
The concept is really cool, but you should warn that players have to launche the game fullscreen if they want to be able to rade the text. It's quite hard to understand the game, the upgrades and to learn the controls. I really enjoyed the mechanics. A more polished game like this could really be fun!
The gameplay and the level are really nicely done. The mechanics are simple but fun. I can imagine a game made of this kind of mini-levels, with different mechanics (for example, avoiding some kind of object instead of redirecting them to it).
Nice job overall!
Quite impressive game for a jam! It's quite hard at the beginning but it's fun once you have understood. On my second game, I had this error, I don't know if it can help you: https://pastebin.com/15CwTbKq
Good game for a first jam, with a lot of little cool mechanics (coins, weapons, etc.). I enjoyed the variety of monsters and assets. The only thing is the music, I found it super annoying.
Nice entry! I hope you enjoyed the event, the first ludum dare is always something special.
It's a trick indeed, but a good one. Nicely done!
The graphics are cute and the controls are easy to understood. I didn't manage to get to the end. Is there one except for loosing?
It's simple and effective. Nice job here! It could be cool to have more different kind of ennemies!
Very nice game! Quite hard to master, but the mechanics are interesting and the controls well chosen. Good job!
That's a solid entry! The game is nice and easy to leard, while quite difficul with the time. Graphics are perfects and the music fits really well. Loved it!
I have (been ?) saved! The game is easy to understand with good graphics. It is juste enough fun for me to try to finish it. Nice job here.
The general idea is really nice. I got really confused by some mechanics, because I stayed focus on the score and didn't understood I could move my character. It's quite difficult to understand why sometimes ennemies tend to kill the soldier even if it seems that I have the right instrument and I play the right note.
It's a nice idea, and I'm pretty sure you could make an interesting game out of it. And everybody loves somme good bagpipe. Nice job!
Nice idea! Some little things are not really easy to understand. Trying to identify how to eat was not as easy as I excepted for example.
Quite hard, but fun!
Very nice implementation, the graphics and the general mood are really nice and the slime looks cute :) I found it quite hard to manage the hunger, it dropped very fast, even after some successful hunting. I didn't see a hiscore page, which would add a nice touch to follow improvements as a player.
Overall I had fun taking care of my slime, good job!
It fits in the theme, and it's easy to understand how to play! Some audio FX when trying to cut trees or to mine could be useful, it's quite hard to know if clicking really works sometimes.
Nice entry overall!
Always love some pico8! Graphics and controls/physics are great, it'f fun (I did'nt try multiplayer, but multiplayer only means more fun in this kind of game).
I would have love if patients location was more random.
I agree with @ohfiddlediddle suggestion.
This game is stressful, in a good way! It works great, no bugs, graphics and music are nice. It's easily understandable and the difficulty is well balanced. Nice job!
Indeed the itch.io links seems to be broken. I'll try it again later!
Graphics and audio are very good! The level design is quite nice.
When played in the browser in full screen, the game can be a little laggy, and then if we shoot while running, we hit ourselve with our own shot. Maybe you should set a fixed size in the itchio settings?
The old school graphics works well! I enjoyed playing this little ~~frog~~ Blender default cube. Some music and sound FX could have been cool! And maybe some kind of high-score mechanic?
Cool idea and implementation ! A nice game which makes the player smile and in a good mood. The bars are not too hard to maintain, and I have been able to raise a happy full size pet rock :)
Simple but fun. I feel bad for the poor foxes (I you say, they are cute). The graphics and control are quite polished, even I found the mouse a little too sensitive.
Some kind of "super foxes" with special powers could be a nice addition, to help the game to be less repetitive.
Hey that a very very nice game. Music, graphics and gameplay are reminiscicent of old maxis game such as simant. Really enjoyed it!
With more units, some improvement on the GUI (cooldown, explanation of what units does outside of the tutorial screen), different kind of maps, objectives for a level and things like that, you could very well make a full game with this concept.
It one of my favorite LD46 entry so far. You made a great job with this one.
You really manage to create a kind of claustrophobic feeling on this one. I manage to win the game on the second try, so it seems to be well balanced.
The audio FX are a nice addition. To add to the spooky mood, you could add more, such as heart beats when the light fades and things like that.
This kind of game with bigger maps and some kinds of temporary power-up (such as speed boots, lighs, etc.) and puzzles could be really nice.
Good job!
I alway love this kind of minigame reminiscent of tamagochis. If I had a suggestion, it would be make the dog and gerald's stat always visible in the main screen.
And the game is a little too difficult, imho. It seems quite impossible to keep the dog alive a long time, or maybe I'm too tired and I didn't understood everything.
Nice job, I enjoyed it, and the feeding and walking minigames are cool.
As @fernando-tonon-de-rossi said, starting with a basket and a weapon could help a little bit to understand the beginning of the game. The sound FX made me laugh.
It overall quite fun. Is there an ending mechanic? Once I have freed all my chicken friends, I staid stuck without nowhere to go.
Good job!
I liked it! I love some details, some as the little circle around the character that helps locate it. It's easy to forget the candle and die because of it, but I guess that's the point of the game. Good job!
By the way, you should add some screenshot on you LD game page, because the graphics are pretty.
The mood, graphics and audio are reaaaaally really good. I enjoyed a lot this part. Once I've gathered all the deers and beat the monsters, I did'nt know what to do next. Is ther some kind of ending that I missed?
Again, you made a very nice job with the mood of the game. And I liked the intro too.
Haha, that's what we thaught about it. :-)
I'm not sure about the mood of the game. The intro seems quite dramatic, and the game was quite funny. The gameplay works quite well, but is quite repetitive. I enjoyed the concept, and controls were fine.
I had the same idea than @hacktrout about vampire coming out of their coffins.
2870 on my first play. Love the way you used the theme. The sound FX are pretty cool, but the game is quite repetitive. As other said the difficulty curve seems not very balanced.
I enjoyed it, thanks for this little game!
The game is quite raw, but the horse is super cute and have really nice animations! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the fixed upload! I think the tutorial could be more precise, it's quite hard to understand it. Actually, your description for the game here on the LD website helped me more than the in-game tutorial. Thanks for your game!
Nice mood. My light stayed stuck almost at the beginning, but it didn't prevent me from completing the game. I love what you did with the sound mechanic. Nice entry! With more diverse sound FX, it could be really great.
Simple and original concept, with a nicely done UI. I really like the fact that you check if the player can press all the button needed. Nice idea, and very good implementation.
Ok, this game is silly (in a good way) and super fun. You made a great job, it's simple but flawless in the controls. By the way, as a member of the "chocolat-endive" team, I can only approve the name "cocapasteque".
The artstyle and the concept are cool. I guess that some sound FX could help understand what happens. Some kind of tutorial could be great too.
Quite cool!
I loved the experience! The graphical atmosphere (shader, blur, colors, world curve...) is very well made. The music adds nicely to the mood, and it's perfectly in the theme.
Your game is fun but is reaaally hard. I was stuck at where your second screenshot is, not knowing how to disable the laser. But I'm pretty bad at platformer, so it ma explain why I didn't manage to finish the game.
Good job on the graphics and mechanics!
Very cool, I loved it! Graphics are very polished, and they remain clear thanks to the present/past contrast, even when it's a total mayhem all around. The music fits nicely, and the gameplay controls are well balanced, not too slow, not too fast. Good job!
Screenshot at 2020-10-06 15-27-40.png
Nice visuals! Having several gamemodes to play is unusual for a jam game, that's great you were able to achieve this variety. The colorblind mode and the different color themes is also a nice addition. On the gameplay itself, I found the game a bit slow (controls, animations), with graphical and sound stuttering sometimes, but I played through Wine, so that might be the cause. Otherwise it worked well and I was able to play the 3 modes. A nice entry overall! :)
I guess we really are stuck in a loop with this one. The art is really pretty. What did you use to make the music?
I don't know if really matters, but I encountered some glitches when being pushed down. Sometimes I was not able to start to climb again for 5 or 6 seconds. And the grass seems to despawn when we go upper and we can see it respawn when we're down.
It's simple, but fun. A series of minigames with different mythological mini-scenes like could be a nice strange conceptual game.
That was awesome. "Stamping" the boss and the following feels super... good? Well, I guess, working in factories when I was younger has created some predispostion for liking this game.
The pixel art is really nice.
@matlab idea for sound and music could be really a really nice thing. Good job with this entry!
It works really well! I did'nt experience any bug. Some attacks of the B.O.M. are really hard to avoid, but I guess it's ok because the game would be too easy otherwise.
Nice job with this game. (I did'nt rate you in humor, I'm not sure if your game is really meant to be humourous)
I saw some gif you posted during the event, it made me think of audiosurf. And there is definitely an audiosurf vibe in this game. Making 2 levels of difficulty and variations during the gameply is a great addition.
You really could make a full game with this concept.
This is the best compo game during this event I've seen so far. Good job!
It's quite hard, but fun. As other said, the direction of the shot is not really intuitive. A simple but cool game. I did'nt experience any glitch. Some kind of introduction/tutorial could be a cool addition!
Ok that's a really interesting prototype. As others have said, it has some kind of dark souls vibe. I would enjoy a longue game like this, maybe with some puzzle with the barrels/objects, and some slow combats.
I would really enjoy to explore this world a little more. Super moody game, I liked it.
That's really great, with very good puzzles. I'm really bad at platformers, so it would have been better for me if the jumps were a little more easy. Nice idea, nice impementation, and artwork/graphics/audio are cool.
That's a solid JAM game!
The popping sound of the gun is really fun. As others have said already, the graphics are cool, but the game is really hard because of the dark fog: the only way I found to survive a little bit is to constantly shoot all around me to shoot enemies before I could see them (I have to say that I'm pretty bad at this kind of game, so my comment on this should be taken with caution). Thanks for this game!
Nicely done! The graphics are cute, and the music goes well with the mood of the game. As for the mechanics, it's easy to understand the UI and how to control the robot, and the puzzles look cool :) I haven't been very far (I'm not very good at puzzle games in general), but I spent a fun moment ingame!
The game is quite fun. I used the PC build because there are some issues with the webgl build: - it's a little laggy - there is some issue with a shader, i guess: Capture d’écran_2020-10-08_12-58-02.png The game could use better music.
Overall, it's simple but fun. The concept is great and well implemented, controls are flawless. You made some good choices with the level design.
Good job on making a multiplayer game, and on creating bots to populate it. It's not an easy thing to do. It could be improved with some audio, but overall it's a solid entry.
Very nice game! I made it to the end after something like four tries (the time was almost up on my successful attempt), that was cool! The halloween theme was a nice addition to the mood, and the same goes for the piano track. I'm not totally convinced by the 3d and 2d assets mixing, but taken separately, each of the sets were very well done. I particularly liked the characters in 2D and the houses in 3D.
Really nice game! I've never played *blek* but the mechanics you have put in your game works really well. The graphics fits well with the the gameplay. If I would add little things it would be (but I understand it was not possible with the time you had): * Some simple music (2 channels oldschool chiptune) and sound FX * A kind of intro/tutorial level with a demonstration of a "diagonal" swipe, because I did'nt understood at first I could make some long swaps with different directions * A time/score thing. Some levels can be achieved with a lot of different strategies, it could be great to reward a player that tries to fine the most optimal way to achieve the lvl.
I really liked it, good job for a ludum dare game made with "no time".
(I did'nt rate the humor, because it does'nt seem to be the point of the game)
Very cool! I tested v2, it was nice and smooth, and overall fun to play. I particularly liked the animation with the straw, as well as the win/lose screens :)
The concept is fun and it's a great demo. Not really a full game, but that's really a good job for a ludum dare.
The sound FX made me laugh! Like @denzil-gomes I was unable to launch the game. The web version seems to have really nice graphics.
Thanks @marcus-otterstrom and @humnyn it'll try it this evening!
Controls feels a bit weird, and everything depends of the beginning. It's a cool concept, and the implementation is nice. I don't knwow why, there was'nt any sound on my computer.
Love the graphics, and it's a nice interpretation of the theme.
As others said the balancing of the game could really be improved. I feel the game would be enhanced with some music, more diverse fx and, most importantly some kind of game over screen (maybe with the high score?). I noticed we could go "out of bound".
I enjoyed the controls, as @annie-owl said, they are floaty, but it feels right for me.
Nice entry for a compo. Good job!
It's a simple and relaxing game. The evoluting music was a excellent idea. There seems to be a little bug: when I jumped on the yellow gear to quickly, the sound FX would not play. And sometimes, when we hit twice the same yellow gear because the transition to the next one is too slow it seems to register it as a "legit" move.
If you polish it a little more, it could be a great mini-game. I really enjoyed the simple clock design.
Nice mechanics with the objects, and the bow is fun. I guess the game could use some music? As @leggy said, the jump is sometime frustrating.
Mechanics are cool, and it fits the theme. However, I did'nt realise at first that the level was looping on itself because of the vignetting. And, like @tigerija I often was confusing Y and B, maybe some option to remap controls could be cool?
Good job overall!
Nice little platformer! I really enjoyed the music, it's simple, but it really sets the mood. At first, I thought the "blood" particles from the enemies was bullets I had to avoid. I think that more puzzle and less enemies (since they are quite rudimentary) would create a more interesting game, it would work best with the general spooky/ambient mood.
I'm afraid there's nothing hidden. It's a pure contemplative exploration game. I'm glad you enjoyed the mood! Thanks.
@mari-anna and @dartheus I'm glad you enjoyed the mood! Thanks a lot!
Thanks everybody! @sayuri I'm a hobbyist in photography so I'm glad you enjoyed my work! Thanks!
Thanks everybody!
@mungobulge we hesitated a lot about making a story or some kind of intrigue, but in the end, we decided to focus on the surreal atmosphere. A longuer game would need more narration and some kind of puzzle/intrigue.
Thanks everybody!
@bereg It's not really intentional, but we indeed played with the artificial/distant feeling created by the generated assets.
@infinitestatemachine No, but that could be a good idea indeed!
@asue Thanks! We used to say as a private joke during the developpement that we were making a game that could be made with powerpoint. Next ludum dare, we'll make something with a real gameplay!
Thanks everybody!
@lucien-catonnet Thanks! The parralel with current events was not really a thing we had in mind but I guess it makes sense. And yeah, that's the main problem of this game, there is immersion, but not real interactions. Thanks for your review.
And @etrealjunior please, you don't need to spam the same comments on every game to have reviews. I'll look at your game later.
Thanks everybody! It's great to see you appreciate the game!
@squidzilla Indeed, we live in France!
@kurt-roembke Thanks a lot! I (Zhao) did the music and you can see my hardware here if you're interested: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/light-footsteps-after-the-rain/the-chocolat-endive-team-is-ready I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@carraka Nobody can tell, @carraka I myself have lost track of time... well... since... I don't seem to remember.
@jofish Ow, we did'nt even thought about that kind of possibility. I guess we should have say somewhere that the gameplay was mouse centered.
@rafatic It was not a direct or conscious inspiration, but I understand the parralel between "covid lockdown" and the mood of our game. Maybe that was an unconscious inspiration.
@tarfield The artificial VS. real thing is always a weird feeling. Glad you appreciate it!
@wendel-scardua Thanks to you for playing it! Nothing is sent to us. We would'nt do something like this without telling the player.
Thank you everyone! :)
@jakob-reborn We don't know the game you've mentioned, but we're going to check it out! Nothing is saved or shared by the game, the memories are stuck in the loop too.
Thank you for all the nice comments!
@e-rvin : Yes the player can choose in what order they visit places :)
Thanks everybody!
@fabula-rasa I'm glad you enjoyed our little game. About the theme, well... every people in the town has faded away and left memories behind them... and, you are too. And the time seems to be stuck. It sounded like some kind of loop for us. But I agree it's really an "interpretation" of the theme, and not an implementation in the gameplay mechanics.
And yeah, we really should have added some kind of sliders for setting speech/music volumes.
@msiddeek I'd be happy to try this "ghost whisperer" game if you manage to remember the name. Thanks!
@zaibakk We use the theme in the "scenario" of the game. People are stuck in an empty town and are vanishing, and the player is too. I'm happy you enjoyed the mood!
@gorrgolem Thank you! We indeed tried to make something different this time, and we're glad to see people enjoying it.
@tamail Thanks a lot! We thought about making a way to upload and share other people messages, but it was impossible for us in such a short time. And yeah, we definitely should have made some kind of settings for the music/speech volume.
What the hell is that thing? Ok, that was weird and fun, it made me laugh. And it's actually quite difficult. It's always good to have some fun whith physics!
Nice entry! I liked the cutscenes telling the story, as well as the palette choice for the overall mood. I agree with the previous comments regarding the bullet size or lack of outline.
This is a most pleasant game experience. The mechanics and controls works and feels perfectly well. I'm not a platformer-addict but I finished this one because I was having so much fun. Good job on making a redish palette/graphics that does not feel bloody, the game is very pretty. Even the level design is great with a good difficulty curve, and that's a difficult thing to make in such a short time.
The only thing I would add is some music!
Hey, thank to you for sharing this little thing! Hope you're happy with the ratings, your game deserved it!
I enjoyed going through the different rooms, and I chose to press the button on the "do not press!" panel xD I had some difficulty understanding how to use the recoil to get out of the room where you have to use it at the beginning, but otherwise it went fine. Having infinite lives that reload the tape gun is indeed quite useful. ... And nice work on the background parallax, it looks cool :)
Ok that was a nice game experience. I especially like the change on the sound fx on the last level, it's a really nice touch.
I can see a longuer game like this, with little puzzles (portals, gravity, etc.). Good job!
Ok this is fun and really polished. I'm not sure I have anything to add that have'nt been said. But it's really a neat jam game. Very polished. The shotgun is really my favorite weapon. :D
It's really good once you know that you can climb the rope with the right mous button. A kind of intro/tutorial could help. And I guess the game could use some music.
Good work on the "swinging vibe" with nice 3d work. Overall, that's a fun little thing, good job (and I love your interpretation of the theme)!
That's strange, for the music? I'm going to retry right now with the desktop version.
Ok there's indeed music. It just does not work for me on the web version. And it really adds to the mood. Thanks for telling me my mistake.
The art (graphics and sound) of the game are super nice, and controls works well. I would have prefer if the dash were more "energetic".
It run perfectly on my computer too (using firefox).
Very nice! :)
It took me some time to get used to the "swap to move" mechanic, but after that it was fun to navigate in the dungeon and kill some angry mobs. I really liked the audio atmosphere and the pixelated graphics. The game was a bit difficult for me and I didn't make it very far, but I usually almost don't play 3D FPS games, so it may not be as hard for someone used to this kind of gameplay.
On the technical side, great job on the engine, it works beautifully! I played on Linux via Wine and it felt bug free.
It works really well! Some levels were quite difficult, but the difficulty curve is really nice. I don't know if everybody experienced the same thing, but for me, music and sound FX stops when I use the pause button.
Love the explosion. Overall, it's simple and well implemented, quite flawless. I liked it!
Love the indiana jones vibe. Overall, it's a solid entry, nice graphics, nice music, a real ending. Everything seems polished.
The puzzles are really well done.
The sound didn't work on firefox, but worked on chrome, I don't know why.
Perfect little game! Excellent mood, very cool graphics, nice choice of music, easy controls with clear gameplay, and all this nicely blends to convey the message.
The labyrinth is quite hard, but the aesthetic is really cool. I enjoyed the "grain" effect. A game like this with different mini-labyrinth with different kind of mood could be great.
I'm not sure the ennemies bring something to the game.
Good job with this one!
It's really pretty! There's not so much gameplay, but the mood is there. The artwork/graphics are fantastic. With some kind of variations an more possibilities to "draw" with the stars, you could have a nice little relacing game with this!
Good job!
Explosing the shadows made me think of old lemmings games. Some puzzles are very good, but jumping is quite hard. I really enjoyed the variety of ennemies.
Really nice! I appreciated the overall humour in the events and the CEO lines. I didn't realise at first that I could click on the screen to get the ingredients for a particular batch, but I finally found out on the second day by clicking all around.
Graphism and gameplay works really well. It feels like a bad day at office. As other said, the difficulty curve is quite quick, and a less repetitive music could have been great. I could ad that some kind of highscore screen with the number of tasks done could be a cool addition.
Overall the game is simple but effective. Good job!
It feels like a good mix between space invaders and tempest 2000. I really enjoyed the music, it feels like old-school demoscene with a little of daft punk.
*Pilot ? Piloooot.*
It's really hard and difficult to understand how to use the items, but the mechanics are great. A bigger level could be cool, and controls are a bit difficult sometimes!
It would benefit to have some kind of sound fx to indicate if the monster is close or not.
Overall, good job!
The artwork/graphics are great! The squirrel is super cute. The mini-game is simple, but flawless. Some kind of highscore screen could be a nice addition!
You really should add some kind of shadow, it's pretty hard to see where the drone is.
The graphics are super cute! Nice drawing here. The concept of the game is simple but efficient, and well implemented.
I guess it would be better if there was more stars at the beginning of the game, because it's quite slow to start. And some collisions (with the birds) seemed a little "unfair" to me, but that may be just a feeling.
Overall, that's a good LD game, good job!
Mechanics works really well for a compo game! I experience no glitch or bugs. This kind of game could work well with different levels (with or without walls, holes, etc), this would allow for the player to have to make strategic choices about the updates. Limited numbers of round per level and some kind of highscore could be great too.
The sound FX are a bit to loud for me.
The mechanics works quite well. The level selection menu could be improved, it is not really responsive when we click on a button and, and it gives the impression that it is a a tutorial with 5 levels.
Graphics are good, and I did'nt experience any bug (there could be a lot of bugs with this kind of gameplay). Pretty good job overall.
The loop took me by surprise when I was trying to find the deer. I really enjoyed the mood and the graphics. Controls are a bit slow but it works well.
It could be really nice with some music and fx. Good job on this one!
It's simple but it works. The theme implementation is quite thin but it does not really matter. It could be better with some music, I think. (i made 109 points)
At first I tried it with a controller, and I was only able to move. It could be nice if you add informations about how to control the game in the game.
Overall, the game works quite well and the graphics are nice, however, I thought it was quite hard to perceive the altitude of the ship. And I found the musical "loop" a little too short.
(I did'nt rate you on humor and mood, I don't think that's the point of your game)
This seems interesting. I can't try it right now but I've bookmarked it so I can try it this evening.
You made a wonderful work with sound design, binaural effect and voice acting. Shaders are quite great too! @domnomnom advices are great in my opinion.
I would have enjoyed even more abstract scenes.
It's always great to see riginal experiments during ludum dare. Thanks for sharing this little game!
At the beginning, I did'nt see that I could place some traps and the second level seemed impossible. I guess some little UI improvement could make the checkbock more visible?
Except for that minor thing, it was quite fun. The music works well with this kind of game. That's a very good job for a 72h jam.
Hey, I really enjoyed the mood on this one. The graphics and the "story/world" fits very well together, and the mechanics are flawless. I would really enjoy to learn more thing about the world, it feels like a demo of what could be a cool atmospheric game.
The only thing I would criticize is the sound design. Birds and mining sound are too present, and I think a more ambient soundscape would be better with the world you've created. Good job!
(I did'nt rate you on humor, it does not feel that this game was meant to be humourous)
@etrealjunior please STOP spamming every game with the same comment. I'll look at your game later.
@etrealjunior seriously, you're not showing anyone that you care about anything else that have reviews on YOUR game. Comments exists for making comments, not advertisement. Do you see anyone else writing the exact same message on every game, with links to their games? No. Because that's not the way it's supposed to work.
So, please, comment when you've really play the game, and give real feedback and advice. And if you don't know what to say about a game, don't write anything, it does'nt matter. You can just give a note and that's ok.
@tino This is the best answer possible here. I don't understand how people accept this kind of spam-self-promotion.
The art/graphics are great! There was'nt any audio on my computer so I won't rate it. Not sure if it is a bug or if you did'nt implement it.
The narration is quite cool. I would enjoy a longer and polished version, with a lot more station and dreamy dialogues.
I'm REALLY bad at platformers so I did'nt finish the game (I was stuck on the second level, when there's two turrets).
Controls/graphics/sound works really well! I found the bullet to be a little too tiny, it was sometimes not easy to spot them.
Good job, hope some people will manage to finish it!
(you should add a screenshot of the game in the description, maybe more people would want to try it?)
Woooah, that's a super polished game. Quite incredible for a jam. The music, the UI, the graphics, everything is fine. My brain had some difficulte to adapt to the "left/right" concept on loops, but it's my brain, don't worry about it.
I would really play a longer version of this game, with some different mechanics. One of the best LD47 games i've played so far.
I really liked the overall mood and the game mechanics, but yeah I agree that it is very hard xD
The overall mood, gaphics and sound/music is really nice imho. I really love the blips. I think the game would have been better if the different choices leaded to different endings and not just a loop.
Also, after the first time, the "cinematic/text" is reeeaaally slow. Some way to skip it could have been great.
I'm not sure the boss fight suits well to the game it's to much "space invaders" and not really "atmospheric-sci-fi-dark-horror" like the rest.
I really enjoyed the narrative side. Nice entry, and thanks for sharing this little game. I really feel you could build a longer and more "deep" game with this little prototype.
Don't worry, that's absolutely understandable, that's why game jams are about.
I'm reeeaaaally bad at platformer games, and it seems that the game is quite hard. So I did'nt finish it. But from what i've seen, it's very polished, with a nice art (graphical AND audio), with cute animation, a beautiful UI, and the controls responds really well. I really don't know what to give for advices.
And everybody should love clockworks.
That was quite fun! It's cool to see other people's score. I really enjoyed that the music gain some speed with the rest of the game.
The only negative side for me is that I think the fire's hitbox is pretty unforgiving but that's not a real problem. Very good job on this one, I'm going to watch your making of video. That a really solid jam game!
Is there anything else to do except putting letters in mailboxes? I was unable to interact else. It seems like a good prototype like @cax said!
Some collisions are a bit weird but controls works perfectly.
Oh thanks! I'll try it!
This is super super fun. Awesome graphics, and super fun (and immersive) sounds. Love the way we can have more fuel. I really don't have any advice or critism to give. It's one of the most (maybe the most) fun LD47 game I've played so far.
(The music and sound fx are really great, and that's rare in LD games) Awesome work!
I made it until there was less than ten cats! At first I didn't understood that I could dash into the cats, maybe you could add some kind of instructions in the game?
Overall all, good job, the theme is here, and controls are great. The music is simple but it works well.
By the way, you really should give your game a proper name!
Nice job on this game. It's quite original, I loved the contrast between the silly humor and the atmospheric piano soundtrack. It's not a so easy game, but I enjoyed it. It's always great to see some text adventures.
As other said, some parts are a bit too long, but it's hard to write so much content in so little time. Good job!
Good job! Graphics and speech works well! At first, the goal of the game is not really clear. With a tutorial level, and better visual indication (a different color for the last platform for example), it could be quite cool!
It's simple but it works well! I think that with a few thing added, you could make a cool little game: - More different ennemies - Some kind of upgrade for the stations - A better scoring system (some kind of malus when you shoot nothing, etc) - A soundtrack - Some "quality of life" ameliorations (sound cues for the ennemies that take two hits, "cooldown bar" for the cannon, etc)
The concept works really well, and is well executed: i did'nt experience any kind of bug or glitch. Good job on this one!
It's ok, it happens sometimes. Next time will be better!
Simple, but it works. With some custom assets and graphical coherence, some more variety and some way to share highscore, it cool be a fun little game. Good job!
I did'nt understood the "light" puzzle, but I really enjoy the rest of the game. Clever mechanics, with nice assets and good gameplay!
Good job!
You made a pretty nice game here! We thought about making a pinball game for a previous LD, but we thought that it was going to be a too big project of a jam. But hey, you did it! Congratulations!
The physics seems a little too heavy, and the flippers seems not snappy enough, but it's just some fine tuning issues, and it's something difficult to nail during a jam.
I think that the game could be improved with *quality of life* adjustments. For example, in most pinball games, when we lose a ball really fast, the game gave us another shot. And there's the "satisfaction" factor when we manage to hit a special thing. For example, in your game, it's quite hard to hit the cargo target, it just feel like luck when we manage it, so there's no satisfaction. Some kind of wire ramp for the launch could be great, and a spinner for the fuel could be more satisfying too. These are just some ideas, I'm not sure about them, but it could add something to the game. There's also letting the player restart the game, with some kind of menu, and a highscore board.
I'm not sure about the sounds. Some FX are nice, but the mixing is wild, as @skleembof said it is way too loud. And the game would really benefit from having some kind of soundtracks. But you can't make everything perfect in a jam, that's understandable!
The narrative/mission aspect of the game works pretty well.
Overall I enjoyed it, even if the game is a little unfair. I'm happy to have played it. I'm impressed you managed to make a working pinball game in 3 days, that's not a simple task!
As you said yourself : **GRATS** grats.png
You have something with the mood here. I really enjoyed the music and sound, combined with the night and the fact we have to hide.
I'm not sure if it is intended, but we can use the radio from outside the house. I've tried several run to verify, and each time I've been able to reproduce it:
war.png
Overall, you managed to create a great mood. And you can now improve it by adding more polish, some kind of intro/outro, using customized buttons and not default godot UI, etc. Good job, and thank you for sharing your game.
This is one of the best LD50 game I've played so far. I can't find anything I'd change in this game. I have'nt been able to pass lvl 12, but it's clearly because I made some errors, there's no flaw in the game mechanics.
Maybe some little thing like controller support? Since it's tiled-based, I think it would work pretty well.
You made a **really** great job on this game, I'm impressed. And I'm going to make another run before trying other games. Woaw.
Your game is pretty fun! I think the menu screen could be improve by using the same art style than the levels, it feels less polished than the rest of the game. The fact you can stay at the gates for the whole game (not just the 2 first boss) just spamming space may be intentional, but I think it feels broken.
The music loop is a little short but works quite well for a game like this so it's ok. Nice job on this game, it may be short, but it's fun, that's all that matters.
Ooooh, that's adorable and cute. And super well polished. The triggered sound for the music are great, they fit so well with the music that I'm sure some people wont even notice that the music is generated by your action, and that it'll just create a nice mood for the game. The art is gorgeous, everything is nice. It kinds of reminds me about the old flash games made by orisinal (I guess they can't be played anymore).
The only thing I would like is... well, more of this game. I really could play different levels with different animals, colors and music. But it's not because your game lacks anything, it's because it's really great.
At first, I did'nt understand what to look for: I think the "characters" should be bigger so we can understand where they are, and that we place things on their path. The "puzzles" seems cool, I quite like the fact that the levels are tiling on themselves. The sound FX are fun, but it could be better with some music.
Overall, that's pretty fun, but yeah, some visual hints about what's happening could help. I'll try again tonight to see if I can have better scores.
The graphics are very good! But I'm not sure about the balance of the game? Is it a puzzle game? Slow walk from room to room makes it no so fun. Is it a stealth game? The cultist guy does'nt seem to even try to follow you. In both cases, the game would really be improved with some better (and faster!) controls.
I feel that the new LD format ("extra", if I remember well) could have been perfect for your project, because it seems that you had a lot of ambitions for your game but not enough time to polish it!
Still, you made an excellent work on the graphic arts and the random puzzle generation seems to be working very well. Thanks for sharing your game!
Was this worth it? Hell yeah! Something between Borges' Library of Babel, Lovecraftian dreams, and some kind of calm dark fantasy can be great if it's well made, and it's well made. It can be a little repetitive sometimes, but it's ok, it's a Jam game, it can't be perfect. We've made some kind of text/choose-your-own-adventure game during a previous jam (your game is better), so we know how much work it is to write so much text.
I'll be sure to play it again and again. Btw, nice touch to let people change text speed, and have save and load functions.
It's one of my favorite LD50 game so far. Really awesome.
Hi! The idea is simple and fun, and I had no lag issues on my computer. There's a thing we can find in your game that is a "classic" video game issue: our character move faster in diagonal directions (you add vertical and horizontal vectors, so it covers a longuer distance in the same time). It makes your game way easier if the player keep going in diagonals. That's not a big issue, and you can find this kind of mechanics in a lot of old video games!
Another issue I had, is that you can die and level up *at the same time*. Then, if you choose the 3hp bonus, you're stuck at the middle of the screen without being able to move, but without being dead, and nothing will never kill you.
I made a screenshot so you can see what I mean: gemobug.png
Overall, that's a good fun little game, good job!
The mood in this one is great! The crouch mechanic is really original and works pretty well! The game seems big, I've discovered quite a few different zone, but I've started to feel pretty lost quite soon. Is there a boss somewhere? I would like to try to defeat it. I wandered for something like 20 minutes without being able to find anything.
There are two things that could improve the game, in my opinion: - A different tileset and lighting for each zone. It would help for the immersion. And it would help the player to create a mental map of the place. - Some changes in the gameplay. It could be super cool to find different weapons, of have some of spell. I don't know, anything that would help the gameplay to be less repetitive.
I enjoyed the sound of your game *a lot*. The music is great (what tools did you use?), fits the mood of the game, and it works really well with the sound fx.
Good job with this thing, it's a very nice jam game!
There some super fun ideas in this game! The graphics are really **great** for a LD game, sounds FX are good enough, and the music is nice too (even if you did'nt make it)! Controls works quite fine. Overall, the game needs more balancing and failsage: as other as said, some combinations of bonus/malus almost break the game.
Is there a proper ending? I've beaten the boss twice, but each time I've died just after, so it may not have triggered it. Or there is'nt an ending, but that could be a nice addition to make it feel like a more polished game.
I'm pretty impressed by a lot of things in it, and it's definitevely super fun! Good job!
As other have said, it's quite hard to understand where the theme is involved, but it's ok. The auto-battler works quite well, and you've managed to create some good mechanics in there. The fact we can speed up the time is a nice touch.
I've been super impressed by the music, what has been your setup for recording it? It sounds quite professional!
That's a really nice game you made for this jam, good job!
EDIT : I did'nt see what you wrote about the music, so that answer my question. I think you should opt-out of the audio ratings, because I'm not sure everybody reads whole pages. (i almost did'nt see it)
*Humans are safe... for now.*
Nice game! I agree with my fellow breton compatriot @mrpouletbzh that the controls are not perfect. I don't know what could be a better control scheme though.
I've played with the "intended" strategy: not letting people wait in space make the game harder, but I've managed to barely win first try, so I guess the balancing of the game is good.
I feel that the tutorial text is to slow, maybe you could add something to let the player choose to skip to the next line instead of having a fixed duration?
And you should add some screenshot of the game on this page, in my experience, people are most likely to play your game if they see some pictures of it.
Good job on this one, and you made a pretty cool music!
The idea of storyboard cut-scenes is fun, and the gameplay works quite well. I think some traps are "too deadly", and that there should be some kind of HP bar or lives. Other than that, I had the same issue than @goudcode : all meters at the end stays at 0.
That is a really nice game! Loved all the "cosmetic" aspect: music, graphics, FX, little effects, everything is REALLY beautiful and nice. The controls are smooth, even if I would enjoy a way to assign controls to different keys or controllers.
There is juste one little thing that I would change: when we go against a block and try to jump, our character is stuck and can't really jump. I think the gamefeel of this little thing is quite frustrating. Other than this little detail, everything is really really nice and polished. You made a wonderful job on this game, thanks for sharing it!
What a good weird experience! In a way, it reminds me Microcosm (an old 3DO/CD32/Mega-CD era rail shooter). I don't have much to say excepted that I really enjoyed the experience. Controls could be a little more fluid, but that's all.
I'd love to see more super original games like that, the LD is the perfect event to try this kind of thing.
The controls and animations are awesome! This little character is fun to move around. Graphics are a little "too-much" for me, but I guess this kind of style works pretty well! It's not your music but you made a great choice. Good job overall! I think it would be better to make the beginning of the tutorial in a more classic way, it's easy to get lost and to die right à the beginning.
(mmmh, tasty snakes)
The game feels very polished, nice work on the mechanics and also sound effects/game reactions to the player. About the controls, I would have liked to have the game sort of paused when I added modules, I lost a few times because I was upgrading and being shot at at the same time. Otherwise the game is fun to play and the concept works well, good job! :)
Campaign completed! That was pretty cool! The voices and FX are super fun, and more lines could have been great. Because there's never too much pre-recorded lines of this kind.
I had some issues in the 9th lvl, sometimes box can be really stuck, and can't be move, and it can make the lvl impossible to complete.
Love the fact that you manage to make different lvl, with some really different lvl design.
Maybe it would have been better to make 2 or 3 less level, and to add a little more polish on the whole game? Things like a highscore screen, a way to customize controls, etc.
You all made a cool jam game, good job!
The physics is really fun, but I think the controls could be more balanced, for example, I agree with @falkka about the upward and downard attack.
Another thing I would enjoy is little changes in the level design. It's sometimes really hard to see if you can manage to jump on a platform. It feels a little unfair.
The intro and outro add for understanding the context and the theme, they are a nice little addition. Good job!
On the html version, the controller did'nt seems to work. Your game is really polished, there is not much to say about it! It would be nice to have more levels, random bonuses, different music, but hey, it's a jam game, we can't have everything! Bonus point for the volume slider, it's always nice to have one!
The only issue I have seen is in the tutorial menu: it does'nt explain keyboard and mouse control, and there's a "next" button at the end of the tutorial that don't do anything: we have to click multiple times on "previous" to go back to the menu.
The game is very polished (graphics, sounds, overall feel) and is fun to play! It took me some time to get how to attack and dodge properly, but after that I held much longer.
Loved the slowing and getting low music when the little diver is submerged. You've already listed some little issues, but on top of that, I think there could be some kind of sound FX when we use a valve, it would add to the immersion (pun intentended).
win.png
Thanks for sharing this little game!
Nicely done, this is a fun game! :) I particularly liked that the graphics felt coherent, also how the music changes as the difficulty goes up, and the leaderboard implementation. About possible improvements: there's one time the upgrades window popped as I was shooting some enemy and I have no idea what I clicked. I agree with the other comments about showing enemy feedback.
Glad you've enjoyed your first Ludum Dare! It's really a nice event and the first time is a very special experience. Your game works pretty well, but I feel the UI could be improved, it's quite hard to understand what to do at first.
By the way, if you don't like the theme, feel free to ignore it! It's really not mandatory, even if most people choose to follow it.
(i did'nt rate you on humor, because your game is not really humoristic, you should maybe opt-out of this category?)
Really nice for a 10h game! The graphical aspect is simple and efficient, sounds are balanced, everything is fine. I have exactly the same "complaints" as @quinn-patrick though, there's a typo on "soldier", and an endless mode (or different challenges with color palette changes ?) could be nice. Your little game feels very polished, even if it really short. I've enjoyed it!
Wow what a great game! I've just played for two hours straight, haha xD I really like how it looks deceptively close to the classic minesweeper, but the strategies in both games are very different. Sometimes I felt like I had to rely on luck a bit too much (seaweeds only give very basic information), but otherwise I had tons of fun playing. Congrats also for the music, which was still ok for me after my very long playing session.
I know it seems that I already left a comment on this game, but I'm the other half of the chocolat-endive team. I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed your game too! I quite agree with what people here told you about some little things that can be improved, but it's overall a super good and lovely little game. One of the best LD50 game I've played so far.
By the way, I'm impressed by the music, the loop is not really long, but it's not boring or annoying. It just fits the game perfectly. That's not an easy thing.
Woooaaah we can go hiiiiiigh! Simple but effective game, with simple but effective graphics, simple but effective controls, and simple but effective sound FX.
The only thing I'm not sure about is the very beginning of the game: I'm not sure constantly mashing a button add anything to the game.
Well done with this game, I really enjoyed it.
Thanks @nonigirl and @bdiaztobarra !
Indeed, roads are the most important thing in this game... but in the endgame, it really cost a lot of money, so you have to plan carefully! Thanks for trying our games!
@larsdu & @satacat Thanks you! We're glad you've enjoyed our game!
@sigill Yeah, the economy could use some more explanation ingame.
The basic points are that there should be little to no unemployement, vacant jobs, boars and rats, because that create unhappiness.
Inhabitants, markets and harbours give money every month. Roads, guard towers and pretty much everything cost a little money every month (but make people happy). If people are happy, you have some bonus, if they are unhappy, you have some malus. So the thing is to keep adding more houses when the city grows, so you can have more money and people can tend to the different jobs (fiels, towers, rodent control guilds, etc.). And roads cost A LOT in the end-game.
(I agree that the music does not really fit the mood overall mood.)
Thanks for testing our game, and have a nice day!
@jkniest Thanks! And yeah, understanding how to balance your playthrough could be easier with some kind of tutorial at the beginning. I'm glad you've enjoyed it!
@azara Yeah, at the beginning we planned to add some alert pop-up, but we changed our mind. Maybe we should'nt have? With more event in the games, that could be cool. I'm happy you loved the music, it does not really fit the setting of the game, but I enjoyed recording it. (always nice to take some times away from the computer, during a jam)
@tim-sims You have to be careful, a lot of buildings (and roads!) coast money every month! Glad you enjoyed it.
@martenscedric & @colineobordello Thanks a lot, we put a lot of effort in assets and audio. I'm not 100% convinced by everything (the icon for the well is quite ugly for example), but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@nosleepjf I'm sorry about it! The game could use some kind of an help/tutorial screen, I agree.
In short, you have to balance things that gives you money (people, markets, harbours) and things that cost money (roads, towers, parks, etc.). And you can't build anything if there's no road nearby. When people are happy, that give you bonuses, and when they are unhappy, it gives you maluses. Unenmployement and vacant jobs make people unhappy, as well as boars and rats. That's the most important things to know!
Thanks @firellon I'm glad you liked it! And we agree about some more in-game hints.
@stefan-laimer Congratulations! Hope you enjoyed it!
@angelicad Roads are definitively the money sink of this game, but they are needed!
@nidel Things can go bad pretty quickly indeed! We thought about adding some animations on the map, but the truth is that we didn't had any time left for it.
@subvertissement Thanks! (and hurray for godot indeed, this engine is really awesome)
@kaleria woooah 2 hours! You've played it more than I did. It makes me happy. :D
@duckwings I'm going to add some kind of "manual" on the itch.io page, it may help people understanding how the game works.
@nick-hayashi Everything has been drawn on mypaint, and there's a little frame around each tile that's added at runtime for helping with readability.
@simex I was so exhausted at the end of the jam that I almost not believe it myself. :D This was an intense project, and we are super happy to have finished it before the deadline.
Thanks @ankea I'm happy you enjoyed it
@mtbvibe yeah, placing the harbor is'nt as easy as it should be (actually, it's an issue on several city builder, but I'm pretty sure we could have made it easier).
@tvorojok Ooooh, I'm glad you enjoyed the music, I really had fun recording it.
@skruffye It's been quite hard to simplify the formula, but not too much. And to keep things balanced. The game could definitively be enhanced, but I'm not sure we'll work on it. We'll see in the future! Glad to see that you enjoyed the game!
@gdesecrate sorry to hear that. I'll try to compile it for gles2 this evening, I'll ping you so you can try. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks @pashaloban
@p-r I'm glad you enjoyed the music, I was not sure that is was fitting with the graphic style, but a lot of people think that it is ok, so I guess it is!
@ghatazorg It's not really clear in the game, i'm sorry about it. It the two bottom lines of the harbout should be in the water. Just like on this picture:

@arzi I agree more informations about costs and income could be useful. The game could definitively be improved with more informations for the players. You can dead-end yourself (i did it myself a couple of time), but constructing near roads is part of the balance of the game, since roads are the thing that cost the most money over time. I guess we could add something to let the player create a new road if they stucked themselves or something like that. Thanks for your feedback, it helps to know what are the issue other player than us see in our game!
@automatonvx Yeah, we thought about adding some kind of popups/warning to tell the player things like *"there's a lot of rats in the town, it makes its inhabitants unhappy, you sohould do this or that"*. The truth is we did'nt have time. As you said, a couple of years could have help! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
@raxah Ooooh, we definitively should have make the building on the left click only. We did'nt even thing about that. That's a pretty annoying thing indeed. An undo button would indeed be a nice addition. We thought about a pause button and a fast forward button, but we did'nt have enough time to implement it. But we agree it could be nice. For the sound, I've tried different project settings, but I did not find a solution. I hope godot 4 will solve this annoying issue.
@hekateras I'm super impressed by your city, it's super organized and well planned. i'm glad you enjoyed the game!
@oddsocks Glad you've enjoyed it. Thanks!
@sephowepho Hahaha, sorry for your spare time! That's unfortunate for the bridge, I was sure that it was quite obvious for people to extend the road over water to see if it works... but I guess it is not! I really hope it has'nt bothered you too much. That's always a good lesson for me: don't assume too much things about what is obvious or not in a game.
@david-york Glad to hear that you've enjoyed the game!
@zimny11 Your mess seems pretty organised! Congratulations for beating the game!
@bramreth We've tried to have an original and calm mood, I'm happy that you have liked it.
@nate954 Oooh, it's nice to know that there is some kind of replayability in our game. Thank you! I was not sure about the music, because I though it did not really fit with the graphics, but it seems like a lot of people enjoy it, so I guess it's ok! And yeah, there is a little strategy involved for the player.
@arend-hintze Ooooh thank you!
@theblitz Informations for the player is THE issue in this game, I agree. The theme is indeed not predominant, but it's there (a little), it can be seen in the objectives and in the ending. But it's really not the main strenght of our game. Glad you enjoyed the game!
As other said, the controls are really... welll... weird! Love the weird synth sound for the car, and the graphics reminds me of the old Vectrex console (in a good way, I quite like this console).
Some elements of decor could help the player to understand that the "car" is moving in the beginning of the game, since the track is a perfect vertical line and that there's no enemy, there seems to be no movement.
I really enjoyed the graphics, though, and I almost managed to make a full lap! Some kind of score/time board screen would give the player some incentive to try again!
That was really fun! You made an awesome job on the 3d lvl desing + physics and horrible-but-fun controls. I would love to play this little rover on a larger map and without having to look at the battery level because I had so much fun trying to climb everywhere.
Overall, that's a pretty solid Jam game you made here. Great job!
Great enemy defeated! I have to say that I was pretty happy to find some kind of secret boss under the floor. You've made a pretty great job in 3 days! It would really have been an awesome jam game if your game could be played with a controller and had some kind of music.
As @magic-mike said, you really should put some screenshots on your LD game page as well as on your itch.io page. It will attract more people.
Poor old man! And those darn doors that automaticaly close themselves. :D You made a very good jam game. I really love the effect on the music, it makes the whole thing more stressful in a positive way! Some kind of random and rare event could add something to the game (I don't know, some object well hidden that could turn on and be SUPER NOISY or visible or funny, for example). Because we really feel pretty soon in the game that there won't be anything new that could happen. That's the only minor "issue" (it is'nt really one, though, it's ok like it is).
Good job, that's a nice polished jam game!
I took me some time to understand how to play, at first, I thought there was a bug and the "track/path" was not loading. But we create our own path, and it's quite nice. There is something a little weird about the jumping gamefeel: some death feels quite unfair. I guess it's because of the lack of sound fx, it's difficult to remember the "timing" of the jump. A sound FX at the beginning and the end of the jump would help.
The idea is super nice, and it works well. Graphics are pretty cool too! I'm impressed you managed to create 3 different worlds. With some polish and balancing, it could be a nice little game. Good job!
That was a nice little story! The only thing I'm not sure about, is the music, I really don't think it serves the mood of the game well. Oh, and your bot didn't fully master language comprension, it made a little typo on the word "challenge".
Sans titre.png
Nice and cute idea, I quite like it!
Nice mood here! I really like the graphic and sounds of your game. I guess some kind of animations, or at least let the character face the left when we go left could help immersion a lot. Making more evident about how to use items, could improve the experience a lot (I took a loong time understanding how to drink things I had in my inventory). And on this subject, maybe adding some kind of text to explain what are the objects we pick up could help too. Nice game!
It took me some time to realise that the mission was literally to rewind the clock. I liked the overall mood/graphics/music (especially the character's silhouette), they work well together! About the mechanics, I'm not sure I did what was best by pushing the clock hands and trying to jump on them, but it indeed delayed midnight. I finally gave up after a while to see the inevitable.
Nice and fun! I like that you have made different control setup. Just one thing, did you know that you can have zqsd, wasd and arrows works at the same time?
The game works pretty well, and the stress factor works well. I saw very few issues in your game. The first one is that guards are often stuck.
stuck.png
Another thing is that the game could benefit for sound FX when we are spotted by a guard, when the night is coming to the end, etc. Since there's a lot to focus on, I feel that it really could hep the player.
Overall, you made a super nice game, with a lot of polish. Graphics are cute and beautiful, it's fun, the tutorial is super clear with a nice recap at the end of it. That's a really great jam game!
I found difficult to understand what the ennemies was shooting for, and I think the game could be improved with some different kind of units, so you can have another strategies than "put the most expensive one as soon as you can affort it". I did'nt spot any bug or any issue, the game runs smoothly, and the controls are ok!
Maybe you should let the player run the game at the resolution they want, because on larger monitor, you have to pick the unit quite far from the center of the "board".
Thanks for sharing your game!
Simple and efficient compo game! Easy to understand, easy to play, mechanics works pretty well. Nice job! One thing you could add to improve the game is to make the ennemies to spawn at other positions. Because right now, the best strategy seems to stay at the middle of the screen so you can have direct shots at incoming enemies. Good job on your game!
Nice little game! Music and graphics go well together, and the gameplay is simple but it works. The time available to react when a meteorite pops is very short, so it's not that easy to get a good score (it's not a problem!). Sometimes points feel not completely earned, when the player fails to react but the next meteorite is by chance on the side where the reactors are activated.
Nice! You almost had the same idea than @oneiros @anstabo but in 2d! The sound FX are super cute. There are nice little things neat in your game: i really liked that we can see the path of our previous attempts, it helps finding a good way to finish the game.
Some collision are quite weird, but I did'nt encounter anything that could block this cute little rover. I love everything in the graphics, it's perfect.
I would love a bigger version with this game, with a big map and some cool puzzles.
Yeah, it seems that you did'nt upload your game on itch.io. Feel free to ping me if you upload it, I'll be happy to play it!
Simple idea, awesome execution of the concept. Loved the fact that there are more than one level, it was a suprise for me. I really could see a full game with this gameplay, with different weapons, level, and some kind of story.
I loved the 2d art and the menu. It's always nice and it really adds something to the game.
The only not-so-good thing is the audio, but since you did'nt have any musician in your team, it's ok! Some kind of leaderboard/scoreboard screen could be nice too, since you have a score in the game.
Great job!
There's something nice about the mood in this game. But it needs a loooot more context. Why does the character has to collect some dolls? Why do he has nightmares? Few lines of text at the beginning, or maybe some voices could have help. I felt that I just did'nt understand what you wanted to say with your game. The controls are a bit clunky, but time is limited, and making an animated playable character in three days is pretty hard, so that's not a real problem.
One last thing, the music sounds... well, really professionnaly recorded, and since you did'nt list any musician, I'm not sure you made it yourself. In this case, you should opt-out from the audio ratings.
Overall, that's a nice 3D immersive experience, but it would be better with a little more context or gameplay. Good job!
Loved everything in this! The reversed melody on the piano reminded me of loom actions. You've mastered the breaking of the first wall. The only thing I would do to improve the game would be to correct one typo. At one point, a NPC tells "the land *ws* a total bust". That's really a minor thing.
Really enjoyed it (and enjoyed reading your posts during the making of the game), well done!
I enjoy the idea of a reverse-city builder. The only thing is you really should opt-out for graphics rating, since you used Aleksandr Makarov's tileset.
I survived 50 days! I'm quite impressed by the graphic polish you made in this game: the models, the water shaders, the sky, the water, and the forced low resolution works really well together.
Some little things: when the box is open, the next day we can click to "open the box" (and it closes it). Also, after a ~~whale~~ while, I felt like nothing else was going to happen, so I just waited for the end. Days are are little short, and I feel that it breaks the slow pace of the game. As other said, more interactions could have been great.
Overall, that's a nice little narrative game, and the little crabs are super cute.
I had exactly the same experience as @leolferraz and did'nt understood how to play. I won't rate the game for the moment because that would not be fair.
If you provide some kind of tutorial or just tell me what are the controls, I'll try again. Don't hesitate to tell me, I would really like to play your game!
At first, I did'nt understand what to do. I think the game could really be improved with a tutorial, or a menu with explanations about what to do and how. Also, there should be some kind of collision box, I'm not sure it's nice to let the player leave the "arena". The controls works fine, and I have not seen any bug, that's nice. Thanks for sharing your game!
I really love the minimalistic graphics choice, it reminds me of mini-metro. But wooah, it's REALLY hard to see what can be done in this game. I feel that characters should be way bigger, I had so much trouble seeing them on the map. And yeah, some UI text like @decosense said could really help too.
Once we've understood how the game works, how to play it, and manage to not loose track of our characters, it works really well. The game is really nice, you just need to help people play it. I would really love to see an expanded version, with a better UI, some music, different maps, other character roles, etc. You really have a fun idea, and it seems to be working pretty well!
@peter-ondus i'll try the new version this evening or tomorrow! Happy if my "complaints" have been useful. :D
The ending make it worth it. You had some nice ideas in there: the fact that the menu between levels was diasappearing for example. I'm not convinced by the fact the character was constantly jumping: it's quite annoying, and I don't really see what it brings to the game. Another little thing is that I find fading to white quite exhausting for my eyes.
Overall, it's a super original interpretation of the theme, and you managed to create an interesting story with few informations, that's really nice.
(I did'nt rate your game in humor, because I did'nt see anything humoristc in it)
That was super fun! I really enjoyed it, and now, my hand hurts. I had the same issue than @s1lv3r-dr4g0n-games : my game crashed in a middle of a combo.
I think the game would be better with a longer soundtrack, it feels really repetitive. Adding a leaderboard was a wonderful idea. Good job!
This is almost a demo of game menus and options. How the hell did you manage to put so many options and abilities in your game? That's awesome! It's almost more impressive than the game itself. With a little more ideas on the game and better graphical assets, you could have a really great game!
The gameplay on your game work pretty well. I quite like that the difficulty increase over time, I feared at start that nothing was going to change, but hey, it did!
As @jul-li said, some sound FX could add something to your game. Something like [sfrx](https://sfxr.me/) can help creating simple blips & blops in no time.
Another thing could be to add a way to know *how* to play the game. I add to read at your description in this page to understand that I could double jump and regenerate.
Overall, that's a nice game, and with some more polish, it could be really nice (but well, it's a jam game, having time to polish everything is *hard*). Good job!
That was a really nice and polished jam game! You made an awesome work here. I found the controls a little difficult, but that's just because I'm not really great at platformers. The dance minigames felt not perfect, imho there is not enough feedback if we manage or miss to hit the right buttons at the right time.
I found the level music a little repetitive, but it's ok, nothing horrible there. The music tracks are pretty good!
I had trouble finding wich button to press to dash, maybe you could add something in the dialog to explain how to perform it?
Overall, it is one of the best LD50 game I've played! You made a wonderful work on this one! Good luck, if you want to create a full/commercial version of it, I'm pretty sure this can work.
I'm not sure if I'm delaying the inevitable (bankruptcy) or if the game is delaying the inevitable (me putting stations for every house). At some point (3/4 of the map done ?) I got bored. But hey, it has been fun for a time, so that's great! I think the game would need different kind of objectivs, and that the dollar/debts cards works for 10 minutes longplay, but not so much after that, since it just renders the game slower (again, it's 100% ok for a jam game). Another tip: there are some weird clics on the audio that could be cleaned by putting some fading in and out.
I would love to see a expanded version of this game with more kinds of buildings (to build and to connect to!). Good job!
Really love the work on the intro and the music loop is simple but cool! Gameplay works really well, but the UI could use a little more polish: the "power" bar can be bigger than its container. Another thing to improve the game could be to add more variation in the AI moves.
shuttle.png
Nice work!
This is the first Cower Defense I've played in my life! How the hell did you have such an idea? The game is pretty fun and control are smooth, but I feel that the "upgraded cows" are not enough powerful. My "best" run was something like 16 bombs, but most of them was around 12. I think that when we play, we don't feel that cow-towers really do anything.
Maybe you could try to upgrade them a little, it may feel more fun?
Overall, you made a good job on this game, it plays well and it fun.
I really love this game. It's not perfect, it a little too much about micro-managing rangers, and some options feels useless. Some more strategic elements could be nice. But I love the interpretation of the theme, I love elephants, the music is awesome (a great old-school vibe), graphics are superb too, I had no issues with controls. And wildlife conservation is a really important subject. My favorite LD50 game so far.
eleph.png
Even the good ending is sad, in a good (?) way. I'll remember this game.
Aaaah my fingers are exhausted. I guess that's part of the game, making the player feel as tired as the character. I really loved the concept and the execution of it. The art is wonderful (although I'm not sure about the white outline on the character's arm, as well as the pixelated/aliased, and the choice of text colors), and the music fits really well.
Some things I've noticed: it's much easier to just maintain one eye opened, it has no side effect. It would be better to add some way to change the controls: not everybody uses a qwerty keyboard, and for people with other layout, they have the choice between weird controls or a layout they are not confortable with for typing words.
Another little annoying thing is the way the music stops between each level and when we die. It feels really abrupt. I guess the music shouldn't stop between levels (and visually, there should be some kind of smooth transition), and it could have some kind of slow fading out when we fail.
Overall, that's a super nice moody game, with a great concept. Good job!
That was a really nice experience. Loved the storytelling and the mood.
I'm not sure about the difficulty curve, it feels really hard at the beginning, and once you have the hab improvement it is suddently easy but somewhat annoying to deal with the rover upgrades. Once we have upgraded everything, it's easy to roam pretty far on the planet, but ressources has become useless. And then the game become hard again, you have to struggle to find batteries. I'm pretty sure this could be more balanced, with and increasing difficulty, but hey, it's a *compo* game, and you did something quite awesome here.
Some kind of music and/or sound FX could have added something to the game. Since there is none, you probably should opt-out of the audio category.
Overall, you made an awesome game, and I've enjoynd my time on Klaxxon-13.
Graphics are quite impressive for a jam! And you won the prize of the largest game I ever downloaded during a Ludum Dare! :D That's a simple mechanic, but well executed. I agree with @quinn-patrick that something more than just clicking super fast could add something to your game.
The 3D scene and the intended mood was great, but the gameplay feeled a little pointless. A little more narrative (for example, maybe some voices that would tell strange things?) may help to improve the game.
I agree with the other comments, the music fits the "night at the office with coffee" mood nicely and the game is right on theme. Indeed there needs to be some clue about the energy depletion (maybe using the character's dress as a colour gauge or something like that), but otherwise it works well!
Oooh, a FMV game! I love FMV games! The puzzle was pretty basic but worked well. I guess another room with another set of puzzle would have been great, but I understand that making all the graphic assets as well as the sounds can take a lot of time. The note about the color would have been better if it was a photo of a paper with the same information. As it is in the game right now, it feels a little out of place.
Overall, good job! I really liked the mood and the execution, and I have'nt spotted any bug. Thanks for making and sharing your game!
That's a pretty hard game you made here! Robots one-shot the player. And I have'nt been able to land a hit myself. You should add a retry button or something like that, because we have to quit and relaunch the game to try again. Nice job on the mood and music, it works really well!
At the beginning, I did'nt understood I could shoot at the birds. I guess there could be some kind of in-game hint about the controls? Everything else works just fine, graphics are really beautiful, and the game is straightforward and fun. Good job!
Scored 73.30 after a few attempts! :) Balancing works nicely and it's functional, good job!
How to play was not super clear at first, but once I've understood it, it was pretty fun. The only minor issue I've encountered is some counter glitch when I tried to play again after a game over (I had to reload the web page to be able to play). Also, I'm not sure the automation is really useful. I've survived a little more than 14 minutes on my third run. I may try a another run later in the evening, I want run longer than 15 minutes!
This is not an issue with the game, but I always find generated music quite annoying. I think I would have enjoyed more simple sound FX.
Really enjoyed it, good job on this game! (and the intro was fun)
The mood is very well made! I tested on the controller at first, and everything worked except the camera movement was too slow, so I switched to controlling the camera and the clicks with the mouse and kept the gamepad stick to navigate.
It took me a few attempts, especially for the last level (I tried to interact from too close to the object). It was a bit tough to restart one level before where I failed, though it fitted the inner thoughts of the character.
Simple, but fun! The sound fx are minimalistics, but work well. I love the idea of a timer for new words to appear. I feel that you could make a pretty addictive game on this concept.
Good job!
Woooah it's hard! just like others, I was'nt able to see the end of the game. I just felt lucky when I made it to the fourth or fifth level.
The environment is nice, and the FPS gameplay is quite good and polished.
Very cute and very polished but it's super hard right at the beginning of the game. Maybe some kind of learning curve with customer asking only for the two "easy" recipes at the beginning would help? Love this chill variation on overcooked.
The graphic art and music is really great, for a jam game it's impressive. Good job!
I really enjoyed the style, theme interpretation and the feeling of the game. And I love that you implemented a high-score screen and a "difficulty" option at the beginning of the game. I'll play the 30s version tomorrow.
The music may benefit from a longer loop. I guess it's ok with the stressful aspect of the game but it feels a little short for me.
Good job!
A very polished jam game! I'm not sure the high score really add something. Because of the fixed time loop, what's needed is just "perfecting" the last loop. Maybe if we could skip to the next loop, or just give the total number of loops by level could be a better?
The graphics are pretty, the game is easy to understand, and controls are flawless. Good job!
Very very cute and relaxing! Loved every part of it, and that's quite the issue: I want more of this game. That's a joke, but a *jardin* less *petit* and a little more *grand* would be better, I think.
Awesome audio design.
Nice and fun! I loved the physics and the overall mood. I guess you should add some failsafes in the code. You can go out of the water pretty easily once you have some upgrades. And you can even make your ship disappear!
Sans titre.jpg Sans titre2.jpg
I felt that the last updates were very slow to apply. Pretty impressive for a jam game! Good job!
Simple but fun! Adding some kind of ending and high-score screen after something like 10 customers would really benefit the game. And yeah, as other have said, sometimes we make quite a good score even if the result are far from what was requested.
Smooth and flawless! The game played with a controller is really fun. And the difficulty is perfect: I had to try again, but I really wanted to manage to see the end.
Sans titre.jpg
Good job! I see myself playing more of this game if it had different levels with different hazards.
As other people have said, the beginning of the game is hard, and it is quite easy to soft lock yourself. You naile the mood and the controls are simple and flawless.
The only weird thing is that this games makes my PC too run super hot. Maybe you should try to cap the fps at 60?
Good job!
@guitarbro Oh, I may be mistaken about the lock. Anyway, that was not really an issue, it was quite easy to reload and try another route. Again, congratulatioins for making this game, you've done a great job with it.
Oooh, I'm so sad, this game seems really nice, but I can't play it. I tried Chrome, firefox and edge on windows, as well as the windows build. I tried without any browser extension, and updated my nvidia driver. I tried on firefox on linux and chrome on chromeos. And nothing has worked :-(
I followed your account on ldjam.com because I really would like to try your game. If you figure out the bug, and manage to fix it, I'll be super happy to play it!
Yeaaah, I've played *the* game. Ok, this is definitively one of my favourite LD51 game. It's just calm and beautiful, I loved the little "goals" for each "level", and the way they are written. The engine you made for the plant is amazing and work really well.
I understand that it's really too much to ask for a game jam, but some kind of evolutive music that would change with the plant could add somme dephth to the game, and the UI could have some very minor improvements (it easy to cut a branch when you just want to "move the sun" for example). But that's me being too hard on your little game.
It's a real gem, and I'm super happy that you fixed it, and to have played it. That was wonderful, thank you for making and sharing this little thing.
Nice platformer! Graphics are really clean and easy to read, which is important for a game based on running as quick as possible.
I made it up to the level with the green flag, but the next jump was a bit too hard for me and I couldn't go further. I enjoyed playing nevertheless :)
Nice implementation of the theme! The game is quite difficult, but it works well in an endless runner. The way the light illuminates the ground may be a bit too punishing at times since it can be hard to see where the spikes are, but otherwise really cool!
I agree with @save-sloth-studios just letting the character autoshoot would really help, I felt that the controls were a bit difficult for my hands.
Just and advice, don't hesitate to put a screenshot of your game on this page. Since you managed to make some pretty art, it would help attracting people that could be interested in playing your game.
The game work well, and I have'nt spotted any bug or glitch.
10SecondPainting (2).png Yay I made a thinking pokeball! Wait... :D
Very fun idea, especially when you have someone watching you and bursting in laugh every time you try! Tested and definitely recommended :)
Well done! Every aspect of the game concurs to create a very cool immersion: inputs complementing the music, everything following rhythm, paced change of level.
Having the directions to manage in addition to paying attention to the beats feels a bit overwhelming at times, and I tend to enter a spam button panic when there are many monsters on screen. However, finishing a level with a good score feels very satisfying, something like "yeah, the music sounded right!" :)
Managed to get all the upgrades!
Sans titre.jpg
I'm not sure I have anything bad to say about this game. Is a very solid entry. Maybe adding more type of ennemies could help, it feels quite boring after some time, but it's a jam game, and you have put A LOT OF WORK in this one, so it's unfair to ask for even more.
Good job!
Simple idea, little game, and AWESOME work. Everything works smoothly and flawlessly. The only thing I would change is lowering the FX sound, it covers the music a little too much for me.
@jeppetp Thanks for the feedback! I guess we should have make something to prevent this kind of thing. Well, our game could really benefit for more polish, but we finished it minutes before the deadline. That's some ludum dare fun!
@asbjorn thank you! There's no real plot, just something about stars and motion. I guess it's more a mood experience than a real scenario. But I'm glad you've enjoyed it!
@nbumgardner Thanks! Having a little relaxing time is quite good after a game jam indeed. I'm happy you enjoyed it.
@roroto-sic Il y a trois chapitres, et il aurait suffit d'un objet de plus pour que tu puisses passer au second. Quoi qu'il en soit, si l'ambiance t'as plu, c'est le principal !
@peebabubber Thanks! Yeah, I feel that the theme induced some really stressful games this time.
@pusheeneiro @thatzniko @eugenik Thanks you !
@faust-mi I really love Velvetyne fonts, they are original and pretty. And IM Fell English is an old school but super readable font. I highly recommend them for any text if you need "classy/classic feel".
@ingo-holle Thanks! Watercolor for fishing in water, I did'nt even thought about it! :D
@lukas0842 and @oleksandra Thanks! I'm pretty happy with the graphic and sound design of the game, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. The postwork on the music recording is not really good, but I did'nt have enough time for it. That's the ludum dare experience, I guess!
@keenan-woodall and @galaxybat thank you!
@vimmagic oooh that's nice! I guess we've reached our goal if some people finds the game that enjoyable. :-)
@tatawanda Merci ! Yeah, we've finished the game right before the deadline, I'm not surprised to hear that there are some bugs.
@pfannkuchen The theme is only in the lore/scenario, no in the mecanics. And the theme did not imply that it has to be use in game mechanics. :D Glad you enjoyed the atmosphere!
@jeff-kerman Thanks! I'm happy you enjoyed it, we've put some effort in the vibe/mood of this little thing. And yeah, the theme is only present in the object/fish descriptions and chapter introductions. We really didn't want to use it as a game mechanic.
@ccollider I guess that in a way, we made the game for you! :D
@fawny-breen Ow thanks! I really can't assure you that we will spend more time on the game. In the past, every time we said we'd do it, we couldn't find time to do so.
@fawny-breen We tend to make peaceful or narrative games, so maybe you'll enjoy our next one!
@mhorth @austin-sierra @akacmd @fattori @kuboxxxxx We focused a lot on the mood and atmosphere of the game. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@nash Thank you! I was not sure at first about the balance between the different elements, but I guess it works! Thank you for your feedback.
@bluesand oooh that's nice! I don't consider myself as a really good 2d artist, but I'm super happy you enjoyed it! I guess that putting some effort into making the art coherent in the whole game works! Thanks a lot, it's super cool to see people enjoying our little game.
@goosegarden I'm happy to see that people enjoy the gameplay. Thanks!
@freerunner & @zungryware You know what? I've never done any fishing in my life, so I'm super happy if the game is OK for people who actually do knows what it's like to fish. :D
I have not been able to test the game on safari, but I'm happy it works without issue. For the sound design, and ambient noises, I 100% agree with you. We did'nt have enough time for it, and it was actually quite difficult to record the few water sound FX with my phone. I really think about purchasing some kind of recording equipment, it could be really fun to do some field recording during a ludum dare.
@paul-avallone Oh, thank you so much! Writing some stuff took a good amount of work, and Bouteille has made some wonderful work translating everythin in english, so we're pretty happy to see people enjoying this part of the game.
@levi We all need some relaxing games sometimes! Glad you enjoyed it!
@zungryware 5 times is enough to kwnow what fishing is like IRL. :D
@rdawg7 I'm happy you enjoyed the game!
@nardandas Yeah, I'm really not 100% happy with the UI. And the inventory texts/windows are far from perfect. But well, we finished the games minutes before the deadline, so we did'nt have time for adjusting it. Thanks for your feedback!
@cosmonautical Yeah, we could add some kind of volume sliders, it would be a nice addition indeed. Thanks you!
@bqq Oooh, thank you! I'm super happy you enjoyed the writing, it took us a lot of work to make something coherent, and english is not our first language so we had to translate everything. There are indeed several little bugs were we can cast the line when we're not supposed to. Sorry you encountered one of them.
@projectcolorball Thanks! And you don't have to *fish* for ratings (pun intended), I'll try your game tomorrow, and you already have more than the 20 ratings you need too see your score at the end. Just rating and leaving feedback to others is enough to have people play and rate your game. Anyway, thank you, and I'll play your game tomorrow. :-)
Thanks @kitkii and @caladrius for your feedback! I'm supper happy that you enjoyed the "art" and "mood" of the game. The way we did things is that I worked on the art (2d and music) while Bouteille was working on the code and balancing of the game. A two people team is a good way to have a coherent result, when you know each other, and when you know how to work together.
At least, it seems to have worked for us, this time. :D Thanks again!
@durkagames thank you!
@nardandas Oooh, thank you so much for playing the game on stream! I was afraid that you were going to stop the game while you just needed one more object to trigger the ending. :D
Btw, you almost played it in "hard mode", that's why so many fish escaped in the last chapter. You have to target the green part of the fishing gauge on the left when you cast the line, and then it's easier to catch the fish. It's explained in the tutorial, but it's not really clear in-game.
Thanks a lot, and I'm happy you enjoyed the art and music. I guess the weirdness of the whole thing is because of me. :D
@wetburritosupreme Thanks!
@ava-skoog I'm happy that you enjoyed the game. And we were a two in the team, but it was indeed quite a challenge to make this little game in 3 days. Thanks!
@enderswype Have a nice meal! :D
@goateejoe Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the game.
@simplepotential Oh that's actually a very good advice. We didn't think about it at all. That's something we'll keep in mind for our future games.
Oooh thanks @hekateras for your feedback! For the probability: each time you cast the line, there is some randomization and a fish or an object is chosen. For every fish/object, there's a timer, and then you have to manage to catch the fish before the end of the timer.
You may have encountered some kind of bug, it seems unlikely to have a fish escaping ten times in a row. We did'nt have time to really test the game before releasing it so that's a real possibility.
I'm super glad you've enjoyed the game, your feedback means a lot to me, since I've really enjoyed your LD entries (project memory is one of the best and most interesting LD games I've ever played).
That's an awesome idea you had here. Love the concept, and the way you made it into the game. I really enjoyed the graphics. They felt very nice and polished. The sonar sound could have a little more impact, I think, but it's pretty good as it is. I feel that the controls are a little difficult, but it's ok.
My main issue is that, just like @ginahe i wasn't able to find all the batteries.
You made a very nice jam game, congratulations!
Really cute! I love that you managed to make a little intro scene. I think that the controls could have a little more polish: for example, it is faster to move in diagonals, and the movement feels a little sluggish.
Overall, that's a pretty nice game you made. And even if the theme can be interpreted as "make a stressful game", you made a quite relaxing one, and that's really nice!
What a nice little game! You managed to make a really good UI on this one. And that's quite hard to do for a game jam. The game mecanics are nice and work very well, the balancing seems perfect.
The only thing I would add is some kind of "DESTROY EVERYTHING" button. When you make a bad start, it's quite annoying to wait for every tile to appear if you want a fresh start, and it's easier to re-load the game. And it does'nt feel nice imho.
That's a very good game, congratulations to the whole team!
(and loved the ending, having a nice ending animation is always great)
Nice work! I really enjoyed the graphic and sound design. I think the game could really benefit from having some kind of feedback. It's really difficult to understand when we play right. Since the game has a really flashy vibe, the visual cue should be quite exagerated.
A high-score screen could be a nice thing too.
Good job on this one, it's simple and it plays well.
I managed to stay alive fo 7m12 on my second run! Love the simple graphics and the evolutive music. The gameplay is simple but efficient. I really enjoyed it, it reminds me of games like minimetro and other things like that.
I think with multiple levels and objectives (stay alive of x minutes, grow this size in x minutes, etc.), it could really become a very nice little game.
One of my favorite LD51 games so far!
@blacklambert MiniMetro's music is awesome, I understand why you are inspired by it. :D
I managed to pass the baloon twice, but did'nt understood the vegetable one. The game is pretty nice and quite hard. It's even harder that is should, some puzzles don't even take ten seconds (the plane one for exemple).
I'm not in the 1%!
Overall, that's pretty nice, and you made simple but coherent graphics and music.
It seems that you forgot to put a link to your game. :-)
Always love a good little tennis game. It reminds me of mario tennis on GBC. I appreciate the fact that you made 3 different opponents.
It's quite hard at first, but there's a real learning curve, and it's possible to learn how to win, and that's good.
I would really like to see an expended version of this tiny game.
AAAAH I won't have enough time to try your game before next week. Can't wait!
That's stupid in a good way. :D
And woah, you made a whole 3d menu? A lot of mini-games? Some top-notch-stupid-but-fun-and-coherent-art? An efficient music? Some smooth transition between the different games and menus? A glitch-less game (at least everything worked fine on my computer)? Some good jokes and puns? Everything with a flawless control scheme? Coordinate a team of THIRTEEN PEOPLE????
You guys are a wonderful team, don't change anything.
Wow it's a great entry! I had a lot of fun playing all the levels, and trying to half blindly sneak between the various threats. The game sets both a calm and oppressive mood, it's very effective. I would love to play more levels!
Very nice entry, I enjoyed retrying a bunch of times! Graphics and music fit very nicely and give a great mood to the game. I tended to mix both buttons and ended up with a strategy where I only lifted the magician and fled with them when it was too risky, and placed the extra ones as disposable turrets where portals could pop.
I really enjoy all the art: graphics, music, sound FX. The only thing I think that could be improved, is the gameplay itself. Different kind of ennemies could really help, and some UI too. For example, when an arrow hit the character, there's no way to know if we're really hurt, and how many more can we take before loosing.
Overall, that's a very nice jam game, and you made an impressive work on the art.
It's fun, it works well, the gameplay is super polished, the animations are perfect, the music fits the game, and it's beautiful.
I guess the only thing I can say is that since you choose a super restrictive (and coherent palette) the game is quite difficult to read. Everything has the same colors: the character, ennemies, upgrades. I had a hard time remembering wich upgrades does what because it's quite hard to differentiate them.
Here is my score (i'm pretty bad at this kind of games)
Sans titre.jpg
You did an awesome work on this little game!
Ooow the dog is so cute! And so are the little monsters all around. I had a fun time playing, and I liked the bosses names too! I agree with the previous comments about the jump on space bar press and not release. It's a very nice entry overall!
Aaaw so cute! Always love a good dog!
That's an AWESOME jam game. A perfect mood and art direction, controls are flawless, gameplay super relaxing & spooky at the same time, the map generation is perfect. Some kind of dark ambient music is the only thing the game lacks.
Since the game can be quite hard at the beginning, I guess some kind of mini tutorial mission would have been a nice addition, but hey, it's a ludum dare game, you already made an awesome job in a very little time, I can't ask for too much.
It's one of the best LD51 game I've played so far.
That is stupid in good way. Loved the voice, the gameplay is simple to understand and works really well, everything is fine, the UI has no issue, you made a nice little tutorial.
That's a pretty solid jam game you made here!
Maybe some kind of leaderboard would be a nice addition?
Love the super weird mood! The smashing-keybord-control-scheme is an awesome idea for controlling a coffee pot, but since I am right handed, it was way more confortable to play with my right hand. Using the arrow keys for the controls may feel more natural. And I found the timing of the jump difficult to get.
Some kind of fading in and out when we loose could be nice. The game restart abruptly, and it's easy to loose half of a second at the beginning of the game (nothing game breaking here).
Btw, I feel that it may be super difficult to work with such a big team during a short event like the ludum dare. How did you manage to make it, and organize the work? That's pretty impressive!
Good work on this weird little thing! It was fun!
I managed to get to the fifth place (around 5k points I think). Once there is some moving red beams it gets pretty hard!
Some kind of variation in the tunnel could add something to the game.
Good job!
Your 3d art is good! I feel that your game would have been better without the 2d screens: maybe some simple 3d render of your assets with some text overlay would have been sufficient.
I'm not sure about the difficulty and the mood of the god. It seems that you really have to wander around for a long time without doing anything to loose. And when you play "right", the mood of the god don't have any impact.
Also, it seems that we can clone sheep by pressing E several times near a sheep!
Good job!
Love the concept and the mood of the game! The only bad thing, is that I think the theme hurt your game, I'm pretty sure it would be better with a 15 second timer, I can read fast, but a lot people don't.
Overall, it's a pretty beautiful game. Simple and nice. Congratulations!
@cosmonautical I won't!
Cool game! The concept works really well with the theme, and the music change adds a lot to the overall mood. I agree with the previous comment about the last level, I also passed by clinging to the right and I'm not sure it was the intended way of solving the room.
This game is really to hard for me! I'm not really good at platformers, so I had issues not dying of supid mistakes like jumping in lava. I'm not sure the way the jump works helped me on that, but it feels that it's more a question of skill than an issue with the game itself.
The game mechanics with the spells is pretty nice, the double world is a nice take on the theme. And the music is neat.
I really enjoy your games (I really loved project memory), and I look forward to play your future LDjam games! Keep up the good work!
Love the pig! It seems that you have some collision issue, I manage to slip between tiles (or through?). The controls are pretty hard, I haven't manage to beat the game. Also, a longuer music loop could be cool!
But everything is nice, because the pig is cute.
Mmh, I didn't really get what I was supposed to do. I tried staying in the same bench for a few minutes (jumping and re-integrating the bench repeatedly) and it worked, but didn't trigger anything. I also tried to jump from objects to objects but got stuck on both sides at houses. I liked the music and the base concept is cool!
The mecanics are simple but clear. I find that the different encounters are really long, and can be boring, but the design of the different powerups feels good and balanced.
Good job!
This is a nice little game! It works well, and it's easy to understand. With a controller, the gameplay is flawless. The ennemy AI is fine.
The only thing I would add is some kind of variations in the environment. After some point, it feels a little boring (but hey, it's a jam game, there's nothing wrong here, don't worry).
It's a simple but efficient game (and fun! that's important), congratulations!
Sans titre.jpg
Btw, "You died"? Is it a souls-like? :D
It's a good start for a full-fledged game! Graphics give a clean and simple look which is nice, and I especially like the intro camera movement. I agree that some game over/restart would be a good addition if you plan on going on with the development.
Very neat! The game is fun to play and has a great mood. I think I caught 50 pearls, I think I was not thorough enough at the beginning. It reminded me a bit of Aquaria.
It was definitely a good choice to keep player progression when dying, since you never know if the direction you take will lead to air bubble in the time you have left, and that time is pretty short in any case. However, it encourages to go for missions where you get all the bonus you can without planning any return. It's not really a problem, but I'm not sure it's the intended player behaviour.
Overall a super nice entry :)
Woah that's quite hard! I love all the little details (especially the dies irae when we loose). On my computer, the game was a little laggy. Nothing that prevented me from playing, but I guess some optimization could be made!
Good job!
Nice idea! Since it is a puzzle game, I'm not sure the fact that there is some kind of permadeath here helps the game. It may be better if death would just cause the character to begin a new loop. This and a "reset" button could help the game to be more engaging, I think.
I hope you enjoyed you first LD, it always is a very special experience. Hope that @kaech is feeling better!
Overall, that's a pretty big amount of work for two people in three days. Good job!
(and the music is nice and fits the mood of the game)
The concept of bomb disarmament facility is super fun! The game is simple and easy to understand. One little thing that could add a lot to your game is some sound FX, they could be used as feedback of the player actions. Simples blips & blops can really make a game more satisfying to play!
I haven't spotted any bug, and I managed to play to the end. Good work!
> LD51, first game jam, first attempt at pixel art, which took way longer than anticipated. Great fun, 10/10 will participate again.
Yay! The first LD is a really special experience. I'm glad you enjoyed participating. And yeah, it is hard, and things can take more time than anticipated, that's part of the fun!
> My first attempt at Ludlum Dare, any game jam really. Im expecting to learn a great deal, fail miserably and have fun :)
You did'nt fail: you managed to release a playable game! And that is awesome.
The graphics are nice. With some more polish (music, sounds, winning and losing screens, etc.) it could be a nice little puzzle game!
I love the concept. Just one little thing: when there's a multiplier, the game become suddently **SUPER HARD**.
Sans titre.jpg
I guess that this randomness is what makes the player to want to try again, to see if they'll have more luck this time. I would love to see some kind of dash or other move to try to catch or avoid more polygons.
Good job on this one, it's simple and fun!
Stressful, stupid and fun at the same time! That's an awesome work for a game jam. The only thing I'm not sure about is the audio, some kind of sound FX would really add something to the game.
Simple, but it works well! I'd love to see some variations when we advance in the game. Also, I think you could get rid of the w key, and just make the ball following the cursor, it would be as good while being simpler.
Good job on this one, it's cool, easy to understand, nice to play, and I found no bugs. And as @matt-barnfield said, some sound FX could really add something to the game.
Controls are simple to understand, a the way you explained it withe the background is really neat. A restart button could be nice, maybe.
Sometimes, i felt that the game was a little unfair, and that managing to make a good score (more than 35 is a good score for me, it seems) is almost more dependent on luck that dependent on skill. But maybe I'm just not skillful enough. :D
Solid entry, the game feels well polished, and I haven't spotted any bug.
It seems that running in diagonals helps a lot (we move faster)! Not sure if intended. Love the minimalist grapics, but i feel that the musical loop is too repetitive. I know it helps understanding the loop, but it's too present for me.
Good job on this, it feels quite polished to play, controls are responsive, and it looks good.
YOU'RE INSANE HOW MANY LEVEL DID YOU MAKE??? Ok I managed to got to the 18th lvl but this game is waaaay to hard for me. But I'm bad at platformer so it's ok.
That's a super solid jam game you made! Good job!
That's pretty! I don't know if it is a bug, but I did'nt have any sound in the game. Some kind of UI to show the health of the player could be nice !
Love the minimalist design.
I have'nt be able to record anything nice, it seems that there is some slight lag input here. The game is fun with the chaos, but i feel that it could be a real little rythm game. The only things it would need would be to have some kind of pre-set chords, so the notes would have some kind of variation, and a little quantization for the rythm in the "first part". And then we could play a rythm game on a "listenable tune". But as I said, it is fun as it is!
Good job! It is simple, easy to understand, and fun!
When when the game start, intriguing just after, then it become moody and more intriguing, and even deep at the end. Everything wrapped in a game with perfectly balanced controls (with just enough twists in the gameplay), suberb pace management, fitting graphics, etc.
If I had to say anything less good about this game (and believe me, it's hard), it's that some of the voice are a little less great than the others (I'm not sure about the voice of the professor for example).
I want 2 or 3 hours of this game.
Controlling a swarm of minicar? Ok, I admit, this is fun! I would have love to have some kind of highscore at the end of the game.
The only minor issue I see is that the "health" bar is on the top of the screen, and it hides the incoming road.
This game has just enough depth for it to be fun. Nice job on the difficulty balance too!
Woooah this is a compo game? Everything is great, it's polished, the tutorial is perfect, you have little animations for everything, the audio and visual feedbacks are flawless. The only thing it lacks is some music but I feel that's asking to much. You've made a fantastic thing with this game.
Screenshot 2024-10-08 23.26.08.png
I could see myself playing for a looong time a full version of it. Great job.
The idea of basing a puzzle game around Conway's game of life is interesting. I enjoyed a few levels and tried to reach the exit using as few moves as possible. Moving was a bit mouse click intensive though, but I didn't find keyboard equivalents.
You manage to make a nice little 3d world during a jam, and that's not an easy task!
At first, I did'nt understood what I was supposed to do. The line explaining how to collect creatures is written in a white and very small font, and since the game is really bright it took me quite a long time to see it.
tutoissue.PNG
Is there a way to see the list of creatures we analyse/collect, or a count of the creatures we missed?
That's quite a lot of content for a solo jam game, well done! The controls and gameplay feels as expected for this kind of arpg. I didn't explore the right side of the map, but I made it to the Sacred Swiss :) I found the boss's animations especially cute.
I had no sound at all ingame. I thought there was none, but I see an sfx folder in your source code link, so I don't really know what happened. Other games I've played on itch today did have sound, so it's not a general issue on my end.
Indeed it's not really a game, but graphics are really nice, and the lighting is truly beautifu!
Short but very fun to play! Lots of humour, very good polish on every aspect, I'm still smiling from the game, and having the ending music in the background while I write this comment. Good job! :)
@slay-a-stone I have the same issue as you
The mechanics are very clever and it's very satisfying to solve a puzzle. I was stuck twice on the crabs level, once in a wall, and once the crab column was stuck at 3 crabs instead of 4 on the right, which prevented me from climbing. Also good level of polish on the graphics and sounds, well done!
Good concept! We also made a game about upgrading a beehive! I had sometimes issues selecting the beehive, don't really now why.
I *love* the little lines you recorded for the different bees. They are quite adorable.
Good job!
A fun game with a leaderboard! I'm in! I'd love is a longer version. I've not spotted real issues with collision, and that's something hard in this kind of game! It would be nice to have a more elaborate scoring system, with ways to extend the duration of the session. Loved all the details and things placed in weird places. That's one of my favorite entries for LD56!
skyrat.jpg
Almost 20k! (i'm Zhao on the screenshot)
Love this little butter. As someone who lives in a place where everybody *love* butter, i can't not like this game. I found the biscuit sound FX a little too loud, and it seems that on the "butter my biscuit" level, i did'nt understood how to get the third star.
A music loop a little longer could be nice too. Love the concept of the buttery creature.
Good job!
Nice job, everything feels "nice". After more than 50 tiny creatures eatens, the games feels pretty repetitive. Good job on the soundtrack!
Capture d’écran_2024-10-08_01-53-10.png
The space button doesn't seem to do anything? I couldn't do anything else than wander around. I'd be glad to retry your game if you could tell me how I can collect the slimes. Graphics looks nice though!
@safalevent thanks! I'll try it again tomorrow. For now, it's time to sleep I'm exhausted!
Fun and ambitious game! I feel like it could really been great, and I love the different animals with their abilities. I'm not sure about control scheme, especially with the mouse (not the animal): the sensibility seems way too low. As @initialposition said, some information during the game without having to go to the menu would help a lot.
Really love the *collage* graphics. I'm not sure about the game itself. I love introspective games, but I feel that the game lacks a little something. It may be the music, I'm not sure it fits the mood.
Overall, I enjoyed it, always love this kind of semi-experimental jam games.
I don't have much to add to what's already been said, but wow nicely done in such a short time! I had fun playing a bunch of tries. I really like the horizontal lines in the text/font, good choice!
Yay I made it to 5K gold and the local news! At first the "E" to grab ingredients looked a bit like a "F" on my screen, and I couldn't get why I was failing to pick up ingredients. Fortunately after testing a bunch of other keys I realized my mistake.
It was fun to hunt ingredients and read all the recipes descriptions. I also liked the music, it's a good fit for the game's atmosphere.
I agree that the Flemingtons ignore the worms a bit too much. I tried to influence the Flemingtons' path by building new structures on the way between the worms and the church, but my strategy wasn't as successful as I'd hoped xD Nice starting attempt at a small colony sim. I had fun trying to build strategically, watching Flemingtons and hearing their little sounds as they lived their (very short) lives. I liked the palette/graphics too, very minimalistic but nonetheless readable.
I'm first!
first.png
This is not the best game of this jam: it lacks any kind of tutorial, difficulty progression, UI that indicates score, etc. But it has some things that almost nobody does during a game jam:
- A polished hectic fun gameplay - A 3d game with hundreds of ennemies displayed on the map that is perfectly optimized - On online leaderboard that make players want to go back and play more - Superb animations with coherent graphics
Yeah it could be better, it could have controller support, different maps, etc. Whatever. It is a jam game, and what it does, it does really well. That's a great and original entry. It makes me want to see what your previous jam games were. Great job!
I guess the tiny glade hype could not influence this jam. :D Anyway, it's a perfectly fine chill game. I can't say anything bad about it. maybe the controls could be a little more elaborate to allow more fine placement of plants and object. And one of the flower seems to become way to big when we try to resize it.
Here is my little terrarium, I'm proud of it!
Screenshot 2024-10-08 22.55.14.png
Loved every minute of playing it. One of my favourites so far!
@irene02 @crozzy @mael-rios and @anekich glad you enjoyed the art! i spent quite a lot of time on it while bouteille was working on the code.
@ferelily thanks!
@riocide yeah that is the main issue with our game in my opinion: it's chill and nice at first but a little boring at the end. I had not enough time to make the economy of the game more interesting. I love the little bee pyramid too. :D
@theyflower & @istaera The way we implemented the upgrades, the countdown to the end and the point system is... less than great, I agree. Hope you've still enjoyed it!
@phyrocast Oh I'm really sorry, I tried to make a level design "challenging" but without blocking choices. I guess I didn't try everything. Thanks for letting us know that's an issue.
@ratly thanks!
@vipaka thanks!
@supersayafynn that's quite an impressive hive. :D The issue you describe with the windows size seems a little weird. Did you try to put it on fullscreen?
EDIT: @supersayafynn i may have an idea about the issue. Is your monitor resolution inferior to 1280*720?
@frozendude We may push a version tomorrow with a "skip the current day". This should be a better way to handle the endgame. Thanks for your feedback!
@mystr you deserve all the hand shakes in the world
@joror yeah the endgame is... well, there is no engame, just aimless clicking
@istaera thanks! Yeah, the mechanics are not well explained. At first we wanted to make a nice step by step tutorial to explain how the game works, but we had a ton of issues and it was to late to make one. For the music: - one of the track is make with a flute (recorded with a zoom handheld recorder) a massive amount of delay and reverb, a drone made by a synth, and sounds of birds recorded from our window (with the same handheld recorder) - the other one is just a bunch of synths (korg volca keys, fm and bass, with a yamaha pss 470, and nanoloop mono on gameboy) synced together and recorder on my trustworthy yamaha md-8. It's a real time recording without any kind of postwork, so it's really not my best work, but I guess it's ok for a game jam!
@plasticsword that's a real issue, sorry for that!
@lofipop & @galaxybat thanks!
@magopian Good catch for the esc key! That's something to remember for future games! I agree the swarm is a little too spread. We wanted to change the settings a little but already had a hard time making the game work before the deadline!
@tw9nty happy you enjoyed the gameplay. Concerning the graphics, they're indeed far from perfect, we'd love someday to make a game with someone who really knows how to draw.
@ollibanjo thanks a lot! I agree with everything you said in the comments. If this game was a bigger project, we'll need to work *a lot* on the UI. For the tokens, there's a indication but like everything else in the UI, it's easy to miss.
Screenshot 2024-10-09 13.51.12.png
@cherwood thanks!
@velvetlobster there is definetely a fantasy element in there, happy you enjoyed it!
@jhax and @eric-shaun The design of the game follow some puzzle-game rules indeed. Unfortunately we were not able to balance it really well so a lot of people locked themselves out of further advancement. I'm glad you enjoyed this aspect of the game! And yeah, I feel that it could really be a bigger games with more maps and structures and different paths to understand and unlock.
@angrybeard thanks!
@gamayun-games On the screenshot, it's one of the *many many* UI issue we have. It's not clear at first why you can't buy more pollen even if you have enough honey: it's just because you already have 58 pollen and you can't carry 68. A visually bigger hive is a great idea! We did'nt even think about it! We planned to play on sound fx to add more buzzing but did'nt have enought time for it. I think your idea is even better!
@jadecabbage Oh yeah, 100% a time issue. We planned from the beginning to make a pop-up tutorial but that was really not an option: we added the wall-of-text-thing something like 1 or 2 hours before the deadline while we were still implementing some of the mechanics. This has not been the most relaxing LD for us, but it was fun! I can't say how much I'm happy to see people understanding and enjoying the game. At the end of the third day we almost decided to stop everything, because it seemed at this time that we would never be able to make a playable game. Glad we decided to persist!
@minibobbo Since we did'nt have time for a "real" tutorial, we tried to pack as much information as we could on the intro screen and the pause/help screen but I agree this is not a good way to make your game understandable. Thanks!
@joshua-reumann @kevin-meissner @wenyu-bao and @sf2 thanks a lot!
@glaikunt thanks! It's always fun to see player's ending screen and their insane amount of bees :D
@icxon yeah, I agree. The whole thing could benefit from a lot of polish in UI, animations and information display. Thanks for the video, it's super interesting to see other people play a game you made.
I looove it but it's haaaard. I've lost three times on the final wave of the bamboo level. I may try again this evening. This may be my favorite LD56 game so far.
Great great job.
The music/mood/graphics is in a perfect balance between silliness and fun. Some explanations on the controls could be useful on the first screen, even if controls are pretty obvious.
And I may be a little tired, but I can't find the sandwich.
Woah, that's almost a forgotten type of game you made here! Something like a dinosaur in the realm of video game. :D
Dino feveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer
fever.png
And just a minor nitpick, pterodactyloids are not dinosaurs. But I guess this is not and educationnal game. :D

Original concept! Love the "Tiny Hawk" pun, and the QTE is well implemented. There are some little thing that could really enhance the game in my opinion. For example, to add subtitles and dynamic sound volume: I found of some tape recordings difficult to understand because of the "look at him go" and other sound fx that where playing at the same time. I feel this kind of thing would really benefit from having all the sound FX a little muted and some subtitles.
I'm not sure about the TNT boxes, it just makes the game slower without really adding difficulty.
Overall, that's a nice jam game, good job to you!
I had a nice time playing! The beginning reminded me a bit about Ecco (the dolphin), with all the protagonists' friends kidnapped. I also needed a few tries to defeat the boss (which is good, since it's most of the playable part). It was fun trying to find the right timing and distance to attack and dodge. Nice job! :)
(side note: the windows version works well on debian linux using wine staging)
Dashing to avoid the cat is *really* hard. The game works well, controls are intuitive, and graphics looks cute. Good job!
My controller did'nt seem to be recognized but the game works well on keyboard. I think the sessions are a little too long? But I really love the driving and the physics. Not sure about the voiced sound fx but at least they are fun. :D
Bonus point for the "night" versions with headlights, that's a cool touch.
@martta thanks for your answer. I may have not understood it. I'll try it this evening and tell you if it works. It's a standard xbox one controller, pretty sure it should be recognize without any issue.
This entry is so polished, it's impressive!
The second type of enemy is very deadly xD
Great job :) I had a lot of fun playing, and I think I could spend a lot more time on this on an expanded version.
Some of you are insanely fast! This is a neat game, I can't understand how you can manage to make such polished thing in 72h, it's really impressive. I remember playing one of your previous LD game, Terminal Velocity, is was pretty good too.
The game works well with an xbox one controller, but I really feel that's it's best to play it with a mouse and keyboard.
The only little issue that I had, is that on the menu, if you don't have and ultrawide monitor, the name of the first level is cropped. At first I did'nt understood the bar under the level selection was a scrolling bar:
race.png
Great job!
@mhorth oh yeah it's much better like this! and it makes the scroll bar more noticable and understandable
Making combos is hard, but it seems i can play almost infinitely by just spamming the buttons randomly.
By the way, when new possible combos appears on the right side, the whole ui goes up. If you do it enough, the score disappear over the top of the game windows.
Screenshot 2024-10-08 13.56.02.png
I'd love if the row of tiny creature was'nt randomized each time, because it makes playing strategically an almost impossible task. Maybe just shifting the row to the side and adding new creatures to fill the gap could be a better option?
Nice jam game, I feel that the concept works well, and with some polish it could be a nice little game. Good job!
Cute little game! The only issue I have is since everything is static on the screen and the controls are super-sensitive, the safest way to achieve a high score is to just wait in the middle of the screen and only move when needing health. Pretty sure you can play the game forever like this.
I get to 500 points and decided to leave the game.
Screenshot 2024-10-09 00.40.34.png
But I really dig the art, and the butterfly animations are flawless.
Wow that's so hard to save some of the creatures xD I couldn't manage to lead any of them to the end (I made two attempts). One of the sequences is super long and very deadly. I liked the Taito/arcade like font, and the pachinko is a good idea to illustrate the theme. The controls and physics work well for the game, nicely done!
Nice little game! Loved the little cinematic introduction and the diegetic explanation of the controls. I guess the game could a little better with different levels but it's ok.
It seems that you used a character non included in the font you've used. It may works on your when you launch it with godot, but on the web build there's not fallback so we see a weird little character on the ending screen.
Screenshot 2024-10-08 23.38.25.png
Cool graphics and mood! I had a hard time keeping the children alive, but it was fun trying to get better at using the toolkit. I really liked de newspaper on the right of the screen, and I think I lost a few times because I was trying to read the next headlines xD
Unfortunately I don't know enough Russian to follow the scenario. I went through a complete story though, making choices at random, and the art looks really good. The illustrations fit well the fairy tale theme (I think I at least understood that...?).
That's an ambitious game! I did'nt manage to see the end of the game.
This platforming section is too hard for me, and I feel that the controls and the way the character behave is a little too unforgiving. Capture4.jpg
But I've manage to make my mouse take a little nap, and that's nice.

*Heyooo ~ boom boom bam*
These little sound FX are perfect. The shop UI is a little difficult to understand, and I think the third level as some weird collision. My character kept getting stuck in place where I was not seeing any obstacles.
Love running in the wood and summoning little helpers whith their cute voices.
Nice little game with cute music! Controls are a bit weird: there seems to be a way to bypass most of the game mechanics by drag and dropping the slugs to the other side of the road.

@mael-rios that's what makes game jams interesting! :D
As other said, it's quite a nice game. The only thing I would add is a real tutorial at the beggining, nothing told me that I had to use the mouse to scare the cat so I was stuck. I had to read the comments here to understand.
I agree with @rynti about creatures that seem a little static.
How did you record the music?
Good job!
Good job, especially on the level design and ideas.
I really liked the music as well!
The levels with the 3 turtles were a bit difficult and there's one I didn't pass, where some of them have spikes on their backs.
Simple but smart and fun!
Moving the yellow triangles is haaaaard. Love it! The game had no sound here, is it a bug? I see that you did'nt opt out of the audio category.
This game with a more polished version, sound and a more balanced difficulty curve could be really nice.
I liked the main character designs a lot, they look really good! Same with the title screen background. The music fits well with the gameplay (once the volume turned up in the settings).
Other people have already mentioned the collisions/physics/hitbox issues.
I couldn't reach the exit of the second level, I think I was too slow getting the yellow thing behind the crate and trying to do something with it.
Yo can be proud! There may be only 2 levels, but the mechanics works really well, and every visual and audio feedbacks feel like they should. And it's pretty.

Original twist on the minesweeper formula! At first, I did'nt read the description and did'nt understand why the numbers did'nt seem to correspond to the numbers of catterpillars around a cell. Once I read it, the gameplay was super understandable.
Everything looks fine and polished enough. The game would benefit from having music and sound FX. I see that you did'nt opt out of audio, so I may have encountered an issue, I don't know.
As other said, I can imagine an expanded version of this game, and that could be a cool thing.
I started to play and the story was nicely taking shape, I took a bunch of mysterious objects in the forest... and then I reached the river part and couldn't find any way to cross, the ice made me fall into holes in every direction. I don't know what I've missed, but I've saved my progress and I'd love to continue! I really like the purple-pink palette as well.
Capture d’écran_2024-10-08_00-25-33.png
Nice little game! I'm not sure about the controls, since most things are controlled with the mouse, maybe it would be better to make the frog hop with the mouse?
Yes! That's what I love in ludum dare games: beautiful original and evocative little things. We made a [little interactive story](https://chocolat-endive.itch.io/wellofpast) for this event years ago, but it was really not as good as yours.
The art is magnificient, and the story is really nice. Who does'nt sheep, wool and flute? By the way, since you've opted out of the audio category, I guess that's because you used some external assets for the music. Do you mind sharing where you found the flute recordings?
Good job for your first ludum dare game!
It seems that you have not published it on itch.io, and for now the LD site do not want to load it. I'll try again later.
Anyway, good job to have finished a game for your first game jam! A game jam is a special thing, Ludum Dare is a precious event, and your first time will create you some lasting memories.
First time in my life I play a game where a beetle tell me "on s'fait chier". :D The game seems to be working quite well. It would have been nice to have the tutorial at the beginning of the game and not just when pressing escape.
Good job!
Nice little game! It reminds me of one of my favorite childhood game: [SimAnt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimAnt).
The only issue I had is that the corpse of the giant bad ants never disappeared. You can even see them on the ending screen.
Capture2.PNG
I would have been nice to add something to build some kind of outposts to clear the "fog of war" in some parts of the map.
Good job!
The physics is fun, but I'm not good enough to finish the tutorial. :D (and yeah, playing the itch.io version is better, but the problem is with me, i did'nt understood how to access the last switch).
A simple memory game, but with a nice touch with the PVE and animation and all. Does the opponent plays randomly?
Your graphic style is simple but beautiful: Love the drawing style and animation. You made a cute and original roster of tiny creatures. Look at this little Jim!
billy.png
The only issue is that it feels like a prototype: as other people said, having some kind of narrative progression would really help. But hey I love fishing games (we even made one for a previous jam) so I enjoyed yours!
Bonus point for making a control scheme that should work with most keyboards!
I did'nt really understand how to play it though, I could'nt manage to cut anything. The "use/grab" buttons seem to only allows me to grab and drop an object. Not sure if I did'nt understood something or if there's an issue with the game.

Very fun to play, well done! I took me some time figuring out where the shop icon was (I wasn't expecting it to be directly on the help screen), and if food was the green or the red little spheres, but after that it went smoothly! Getting the upgrades sped the game up a lot and it was very satisfying to run and shoot very fast xD In one of my attempts, at one point I couldn't ingest any more, although I only had 3 grey spheres in the cell body, and the capacity to eat viruses. I don't know what happened, but it prevented me from getting more upgrades this particular run.
The particle effect is a little too much for my computer, and performance were not great. I did'nt manage to beat the boss. Except for the performance issue, some audio feedback would help the "feeling" of the game. Simple sound fx when you use a skill or this kind of thing adds a lot.
For a first game, and a jam game, it's pretty cool! Good job!
The game can be understood very fast, and the gameplay is good! It's a little too hard for me, but I'm not great at this kind of video game.
A button to skip the intro would be a nice addition!
@judith-hantisse ow sorry i did'nt see it! Nevermind, then! :D
Simple and fun! I feel the game lacks audio feedback: it's hard to understand when our punch lands and when we are hit.
The quit button on the middle of the screen may not be a good idea, I quit twice without intending it when losing. :D
Cute little game, good job!
Very very nice jam game. Simple, well polished, everything works. You even made a menu to set up the audio levels! That's not the kind of thing we often see in a jam game! (i'm Zhao in the scores) Capture d’écran_2024-10-08_00-37-08.png
I'm not sure about the scoring system, it seems like the best way to have a good score is to wait for a level with a "good" start.
Congratulations to you all!
To me, playing felt a little like when you're watching a movie, and at a nostalgic moment, a narrator's voice starts reading a letter full of emotions in the background. The symmetrical shapes created by the bullet hell animations add a nice hypnotizing effect to the game. Overall it works well and that's a good idea.
On the gameplay, it would have been extremely difficult, had there been a possibility to die (I think I finished with 47 hits or something like that). Emphasizing on the narration by not having retries was a good choice.
I would love to see more around this idea, with level design reflecting tension or illustrating the narration.
